- 3:24this year, so let's do that. Help me share it,
- 3:27help me get the word out, and like I said,
- 3:29I'll get to you as quickly as possible. I may
- 3:32actually talk a little faster today than I normally do
- 3:35because my laptop is dying and I'm trying to get
- 3:39this podcast done before it just totally quits on me.
- 3:42I spent all day yesterday backing up files. I ordered
- 3:45a new laptop a couple of days ago, but there
- 3:47was a problem with shipping, so I had to cancel
- 3:49that and order a new one. So I've actually got
- 3:51to do several podcasts today to get a few days
- 3:53caught up. So let's go ahead and jump in there.
- 3:56And we're going to start, of course, with Radio Reply.
- 4:00And the questioner has been asking the priest about doctrine.
- 4:03He's a modernist, probably a Marxist, what we would call
- 4:07a liberal these days. And liberalism is completely incompatible modern liberalism, modernism,
- 4:14socialism essession essentially is entirely incompatible with Catholicism. Okay, you
- 4:21can only be a liberal Catholic in name only, and
- 4:24why is that. Well, to be a modern liberal you
- 4:27have to endure abortion. You have to support abortion, and
- 4:31the support of abortion means you are de facto excommunicated
- 4:35from the Catholic Church. When one of our liberal politicians
- 4:40Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, or whatever they're goes and receives
- 4:45the Eucharist in that state of mortal sin for promoting
- 4:51and supporting abortion, they actually become guilty of the body
- 4:55and blood of Christ is what it says in the Bible.
- 4:57They become guilty of murdering she and any priest that
- 5:03encourages or enables that is going to have a lot
- 5:06to answer for we need. I mean, these are mainly
- 5:10not ideologically liberal priests, so some are and that's you know,
- 5:15incredibly sinful on its own right. But they're cowards. They're
- 5:18cowards that won't stand up to politicians. They don't want
- 5:21to create scandal. Well, they're actually facilitating this person going
- 5:25to hell and providing a bad example to the rest
- 5:29of the parishioners and probably leading people astray. And I
- 5:33really wouldn't want to be in that priest or bishop's shoes. Now,
- 5:36we do have some very liberal socialist priests. At its heart,
- 5:41these are secularist atheist ideologies, and that really needs to
- 5:45be cleaned out of Catholicism. There is no place for modernist, secularist,
- 5:51atheistic liberalists socialism in Catholicism, it's incompatible. Now, it's not
- 5:59a matter of economic system. Although socialism and communism are
- 6:02also condemned by Father Spirago himself in this exhaustive Catechism
- 6:07of the Catholic Church, and by any rational thinking Catholic
- 6:12because dear ideology is based on theft and envy and greed,
- 6:16which are you know, moratal sense. Again, these are really
- 6:21not good things. But any political ideology that embraces endorses
- 6:27supports abortion and gay marriage. There's another example, and we
- 6:32could go on and on is purely evil on its face,
- 6:35and it has no place in Catholicism. Now. So the
- 6:39person says, is it consciousness of weakness that makes the
- 6:43Catholic Church dread free inquiry and they presensor? She does
- 6:47not dread free inquiry into her truth and authority. At
- 6:50the same time she knows the great capacity of the
- 6:53human mind for going astray. She dreads therefore prejudice, ignorance,
- 6:58and the fantastic conclusion of the logical and half educated.
- 7:03He continues, if it be a sin to doubt Catholic dogma,
- 7:07how can you weigh evidence for and against it? Saint
- 7:10Paul tells us to prove all things and the presnswer.
- 7:14To admit the christis God, and then to doubt an
- 7:16exact statement of his teaching is certainly a sin, for
- 7:20that implies either denial of his knowledge or of his
- 7:23veracity truthfulness. In other words, but we do not need
- 7:26to doubt a thing before we can begin to study it.
- 7:28I do not doubt the fact that the earth moves
- 7:30around the sun. Yet I am perfectly free to weigh
- 7:33all the evidence for or against that proposition. Saint Paul
- 7:36believed in the dogma of the Trinity, yet he could
- 7:38not prove that dogma save by proving that God had
- 7:41revealed it, and it must be accepted on God's authority.
- 7:45And the man says, if a man changes from Protestantism
- 7:49to to Catholicism, does he not do so by his
- 7:53own judgment? And the answer, of course, he must judge
- 7:56that Protestantism is false and Catholicism is true, But that
- 8:00judgment is preliminary to faith. Having made that judgment and
- 8:04acted upon it, he becomes a Catholic, and from that
- 8:07moment on he is guided by what he believes, not
- 8:10by his own human judgment or opinion, but what Christ
- 8:14has actually revealed as taught to him by the Catholic Church.
- 8:19And he says, what is your opinion of rationalism? And
- 8:23the answer it is the name of a system accepted
- 8:26by illogical people who wish to imply, by the self
- 8:29chosen title, that they are really guided by reason. And
- 8:33he says, has not rationalism made havoc of Christianity reducing
- 8:37the Bible to a myth and quenching the fires of
- 8:40hell by humanitarian principles? Yes, I would say he is
- 8:43definitely a modern day liberal. And they answer, it is
- 8:47not made havoc of Christianity. It is, however, making havoc
- 8:50of Protestantism. But Protestantism is not really Christianity. Now there's
- 8:54a bold statement. Let's say that again, Protestantism is not
- 8:57really Christianity. Church alone is the true representative of Christianity,
- 9:03and she is not affected by rationalism. The Bible is
- 9:06as authentic as ever, and humanitarianism has not affected the
- 9:09fires of Hell, even as it had nothing to do
- 9:12with their creation. As has been well said, the only
- 9:15way to abolish hell is to abolish one's own by
- 9:18leading a good life and serving God. The man continues
- 9:23is not rationalism on the increase people becoming indifferent to
- 9:27your Christianity and the answer outside of the church, yes,
- 9:31the principle do not be told by the Catholic Church
- 9:34what to think on religion, but be free to think
- 9:36for yourself is proving fatal to Protestantism. And that is
- 9:39very true. As I've discussed many many times, Protestanism is
- 9:43in decline decline worldwide, but especially in America. Men have
- 9:49simply asserted their freedom to think Protestism itself and indeed
- 9:53all religion useless. Catholics who do not accept the principles
- 9:57of free thought are not affected to any great extent.
- 10:02If you do not fear rationalism, why do you forbid
- 10:06Catholics to read rationalistic writings? And the pres answer, we
- 10:10do not fear rationalism. We do fear lest some individual
- 10:14Catholics be taken in by its sophistries, thinking that because
- 10:18they themselves do not see the solution to difficulties proposed
- 10:22that there is no solution. Rationalistic writings constitute a danger
- 10:26for shallow and untrained minds, and rather a waste of
- 10:30time for educated men. And finally, he says, we rationalists
- 10:35can never become Catholics, and they answer, but rational men
- 10:39can do so if you are not a Catholic. It
- 10:42is not sound reasoning that keeps you outside of the
- 10:44Catholic Church. Defective information, mere want of thought, prejudice, moral cowardice, heredity, environment,
- 10:51and one hundred other factors may conspire to keep men
- 10:54outside of the Catholic Church, but sound reason never does.
- 10:58Sound reason is the greatest ally of the Catholic Church
- 11:01in the natural order, all right, And I am going
- 11:05to try to get through this one without editing at all.
- 11:08So if I stumble over a word, I'll try to
- 11:10repeat it more clearly, because I don't know how long
- 11:13the computer is going to last. And I just can't
- 11:17use my phone for recording podcasts. I know some people do.
- 11:20I don't know if it's my phone or if it's me,
- 11:22but I am far more comfortable speaking into a microphone
- 11:25and using a quality sound editing program then you know,
- 11:30just doing you know, a phone call. It's just just
- 11:33it just doesn't work for me. So have been taking
- 11:38a sip of a beverage. I will now embark upon
- 11:43Father Spiago's explanation of the Mass, the Holy sacrifice of
- 11:51the Mass, and he begins with the topic on sacrifice
- 11:54in general. That's where we have to start. Because the
- 11:57Mass is a bloodless sacrifice. It is a representation, a representation,
- 12:03let's break that word down, representation of the sacrifice of
- 12:08Christ in the crucifixion. Since the most important of all
- 12:14the means of grace, the Holy Mass, is a sacrifice,
- 12:17it is necessary first of all to speak of the
- 12:19sacrifice in general. The word to sacrifice means to offer
- 12:23something valuable in some person to some person as a
- 12:27token of affection for or dependence on that person, or
- 12:31to surrender something that we prize for the sake of another.
- 12:34If a father gives all he has to his sons
- 12:37to enable them to pursue their studies, and himself lives
- 12:41in straightened or difficult certain circumstances, he is said to
- 12:46have made a great sacrifice for his children. When a
- 12:49soldier marches to battle for the defense of his country,
- 12:51at the risk of his life and limb, he is
- 12:54said to sacrifice himself for his country. By a sacrifice
- 12:57to God. Is signified something given up to God out
- 13:01of love to him. The poor widow casts money into
- 13:04the treasury the last two mites which she possessed. In
- 13:07doing so, she made a great sacrifice for God's sake.
- 13:12That's Mark twelve forty three. Tobias did the same when
- 13:17in captivity he distributed alms to his poor fellow countrymen
- 13:21at peril of his own life, and the bodies buried,
- 13:24the bodies of the slain Tobit won several reasons Martin
- 13:29Luther cut the books of the Book of Tobat from
- 13:33the Bible. One he said that all works were evil.
- 13:38He said, faith the one that was all that mattered.
- 13:40Charity didn't matter. In fact, charity was just as bad
- 13:43as anything else. You could do sacrifices for another person,
- 13:46any good work, he said, had no merit at all. Well,
- 13:49we see in the Book of Tobit that Tobias is
- 13:52rewarded for his sacrifices, his works of charity, his acts
- 13:56of charity. There's also the intercession of the archangel. I
- 14:01guess was Rafael, And yes, Raphael, And yeah, it's a
- 14:07very Catholic book, even though it's a Jewish book of
- 14:10the Old Testament, and he had to cut it out
- 14:12of the Bible or his followers, his Protestant followers would
- 14:18have seen that his teachings were not in accord with
- 14:22the Bible, which he said was the sole authority on
- 14:26the faith. So really pretty amazing how blatant he was
- 14:32in his graft, his con artistry. I guess I mean
- 14:37he was an antichrist and a very bad man who
- 14:40has led millions of people astray. So let's see, I'm tod.
- 14:46The Jews made sacrifice when after giving of the law,
- 14:49they brought gold, silver, precious stones, purple, etcetera to Moses
- 14:53for the making of the tabernacle in Exodus. I guess
- 14:55it's Exodus thirty five. We are told in holy scripture
- 14:58that to keep the command to depart from injustice and
- 15:01to do mercy is to offer sacrifice Ecclesiasticus thirty five
- 15:07twenty four. And that's what we call the Book of Sirac.
- 15:10And that's another one he cut from the Bible because
- 15:12he couldn't have that in there. The essential part of
- 15:15sacrifice is the surrender or renunciation of some object that
- 15:18will be highly prize of old. If anyone desired to
- 15:22accentuate his surrender of the object he valued, he used
- 15:25to destroy it completely, thus rendering it impossible for him
- 15:29ever to be able to recover possession of it. The
- 15:32sacrifice is offered by Cain. Abel and Noah were of
- 15:35this nature. Abel slaughtered and burned the first things of
- 15:38his slock. His brother Cain offered the fruits of the
- 15:41earth as a gift to the Lord Genesis four three
- 15:46through five. Noah, on leaving the arc, took some of
- 15:49the animals and offered them as holocaust upon the altar
- 15:52he had built. That's the Genesis as well, and that's
- 15:56I guess six twenty. Hence the word sacrifice signified as
- 16:00the voluntary surrender or the destruction of an object which
- 16:03we value to give honor to God as our supreme Lord.
- 16:06It is no uncommon thing among men to present a
- 16:09valuable present to someone as a sign of respect or
- 16:12an act of homage. Subjects not unfrequently offer their best
- 16:15produce and their skill to the monarch. So we ought
- 16:20to give to God what we most value. And as
- 16:23in a state, there are certain honors which it is
- 16:25the exclusive prerogative of the ruler to receive, so the
- 16:29offering of sacrifice is an act of homage which can
- 16:32be paid only to God. There are bloody and unbloody
- 16:35sacrifices as may be seen from the sacrifices of canaan Abel.
- 16:39The oblation offered in sacrifice varied according to the nature
- 16:42of the possessions of him who offered it. Either a
- 16:45victims such as an ox slamb a dove was taken
- 16:48from the animal kingdom. This was a bloody sacrifice because
- 16:50the blood of victims was shed, or an ablation was
- 16:54taken from the vegetable kingdom some species of food such
- 16:56as flour, fruit, or drink wine, for instance, This was
- 17:00an unbloody sacrifice because it was without the shedding of blood.
- 17:03The animals used to be slaughtered, their blood poured on
- 17:06the altar, and their flesh either or consumed entirely by
- 17:09fire or eaten in part by the priests and levites.
- 17:13Once again, if you actually read the Bible, you know
- 17:15that Judaism and Christianity are not vegan religions. Regardless of
- 17:21what you may have been taught in college. The fruits
- 17:23of the earth were either burned or eaten. Wine was
- 17:26poured out a libation on or before the altar. And
- 17:30also we use wine. We're not teetotalers either. Whatever they
- 17:36call that reform, whatever that's a Protestant thing, and mainly
- 17:40the reason they tried to outlail alcohol was because they
- 17:42wanted to outlaw the masks. You know, in a lot
- 17:44of cases. So anyway, the intention of sacrifice may be
- 17:48to give honor to God, to give him thanks, or
- 17:51to intreat favor, or to make propitiation. The offering of
- 17:55a sacrifice gives outward expression to the feelings of the heart.
- 18:00And who has a due knowledge of God, who knows
- 18:02him to be the all my Creator, the wise and
- 18:05bountiful preserver and ruler of the world, will be penetrated
- 18:09with sentiments of respect, of gratitude, of confidence, and contrition.
- 18:14And since it belongs to the nature of man to
- 18:16manifest outwardly what he feels inwardly, he will evince these
- 18:22sentiments by the surrender, the renunciation, or destruction of some
- 18:25object that he values. These sentiments are equal to a sacrifice.
- 18:29Without them, it would be mere hypocrisy. Consequently, the sentiment
- 18:33of compunction is of itself sometimes designated a sacrifice. It
- 18:38means you know when your conscience is condemning you for
- 18:44what you've done wrong. Sacrifices of praise used to be
- 18:47offered daily in the temple. Noah's sacrifice was a sacrifice
- 18:51of thanksgiving, one of the sacrifices of Judas Maccabeus caused.
- 18:55These sacrifices which Judas Maccabeus caused to be awe before
- 19:01going to battle were deprecatory sacrifices. Those offers for the
- 19:05warriors who fell in the flight were expiatory sacrifices. Another
- 19:10book Martin Luther had to cut from the Bible because
- 19:13one it's again you're seeing these sacrifices, but two because
- 19:17Judas Maccabeus or in the books of Maccabees, the Maccabees
- 19:22emphasized prayers for the dead, expiatory sacrifices for the warriors
- 19:27who fell in battle. And of course Martin Luther didn't
- 19:32believe in prayers for the dead. He didn't believe in
- 19:34purgatory or anything like that. And yeah, he had changed
- 19:39the words of the Bible to fit his doctrine. The
- 19:42custom of offering sacrifices has existed in all times and
- 19:45among all nations of the world. Sacrifices have been customary
- 19:48from time immemorial. They were offered by Cain and Abel,
- 19:52the children of the first man and the first woman,
- 19:55they are found among the Jews and Gentiles. The Jewish
- 19:57high priest offered an oblation mourning and e evening in
- 20:00the name of the people. He first he burned incense
- 20:03upon the altar, and he offered an unbloody sacrifice consisting
- 20:07of flour, oil, and frankincense Leviticus six fourteen, and finally
- 20:13a sacrifice in which the shedding of blood, the victim
- 20:16being a lamb of one year old without blemish, together
- 20:20with an oblation of food and drink Exodus twenty nine
- 20:24thirty eight. On the Sabbath day, two lambs a year old,
- 20:27together with the bread and wine were emoliated or burned.
- 20:31In the addition of the daily ablation Numbers twenty eight nine,
- 20:37special sacrifices were also appointed for certain feasts. The Heathen
- 20:40nations also offered sacrifices, but their ideas on the subject
- 20:43were perverted, for they offered human sacrifices, and not to
- 20:47the true God, but to idols. Hence, Saint Paul says,
- 20:50the things which the Heathen sacrifice they sacrificed to devils
- 20:53and not to God. One Corinthians ten to twenty. We
- 20:57read in Holy Scripture that the King of Moab took
- 20:59his oldest son and offered him for a burnt offering
- 21:01upon the wall in order to obtain help against the Israelites.
- 21:05That's four Kings three twenty seven. The Phoenicians and other
- 21:08Asiatic people used to yearly emoliate young children to their
- 21:12god Moloch, the brazen statue of the deity being made
- 21:16red hot and the children cast into its arms. The
- 21:19custom of offering sacrifice is formally prevailed to a great
- 21:23extent in Mexico. Very true, very true. Yeah, a lot
- 21:27of human sacrifice among the native tribes of the Americas,
- 21:31a lot of cannibalism. We need to remember this when
- 21:35people attack Catholicism, for you know, conquering the native religions
- 21:41and taking away a lot of their religions were really evil,
- 21:45really evil. Some aspects of it were good. You know,
- 21:47God makes every person, He puts the truth in everybody's heart.
- 21:50But they were very very led astray by demons, and
- 21:55you know that is the truth. You want to know
- 21:58what happened to the minds where the Aztecs mostly ate them,
- 22:01kept them in cages, fattened them up, and ate them. Okay,
- 22:06Columbus and the other explorers that usually brought priests with
- 22:12them and taught Christianity, Catholicism specifically to the native tribes
- 22:17of the Americas, brought them peace and prosperity and happiness
- 22:22and helped. Yes, they were mistreated by the governments that
- 22:26those people represented, but not by the Church. The Church
- 22:30was really really good to them. You know, you may
- 22:32have remembered there was this big scandal in Canada, oh
- 22:36probably what two years ago now, where they said all
- 22:39these like unmarked graves were being found at all these
- 22:43schools and orphanages where Catholics were caring for native the
- 22:50children of native tribes, and people went crazy. You know,
- 22:53the Church is so bad, Cathosism so evil, they just
- 22:56killed these children. Been totally disproven, totally disproven. Those graves
- 23:01don't exist, those graves. That was a lie that was
- 23:04published in the press. That part hasn't really gotten out.
- 23:08What got out was to lie and on a lot
- 23:10of churches were vandalized and priests attacked. And you know,
- 23:14we really do need to know and be proud of
- 23:17our Catholic history, and we've made mistakes, acknowledge them, but
- 23:20don't let people just condemn I mean, we should celebrate
- 23:24Columbus Day. What's been taught in our schools is horrible,
- 23:29and it's false as well. It's lies, it's false. So anyway, Yes,
- 23:36the custom of offering human sacrifice formerly prevailed to a
- 23:39great extent in Mexico. Is said that a number of
- 23:41victims slaughtered in a year amounted no less than twenty
- 23:45thousand people. Twenty thousand people killed in human sacrifices in
- 23:51Mexico every year. That was in a time where the
- 23:54population of Mexico is not that big either. So anyway,
- 23:59human sacrifice are not yet entirely abolished. They are still
- 24:02customary among savages, notably among some African and Indian tribes.
- 24:06Remember this was written in the eighteen nineties. I don't
- 24:08know that's still true, but still be pretty violent anyway.
- 24:13How sad is the condition of man without the Christian faith.
- 24:17The chief motives which urge mankind to offer sacrifice are
- 24:21the consciousness of sin and the desire for reconciliation with God.
- 24:25And because God often required or sanctioned the sacrifice, the
- 24:29consciousness of sin was a powerful incentive to man to
- 24:32offer sacrifice. Saint Paul says, in them there is made
- 24:37a commemoration, sorry congestion here today in them there is
- 24:44made a commemoration of sins every year. Let me just
- 24:46sip of this drink again, and that's Hebrews ten to three.
- 24:53And again without the shedding of blood, there is no
- 24:56remission Hebrews nine twenty two. God not equently shows his
- 25:01approbation of sacrifice. He testified his acceptance of Abel's offering
- 25:05in Genesis four to four, and of Noah's and Genesis
- 25:09eight twenty one of the Holocaust offered by the prophet
- 25:12of Lice. Holocaust means sacrifice essentially, which was consumed by
- 25:16fire from heaven three Kings, eighteen thirty eight. On many
- 25:21occasions God required a sacrifice, as of that of Isaac
- 25:26Genesis twelve. He gave minute directions concerning the sacrificial offerings
- 25:31to the Jews by Moses, Lips and Leviticus several passengers there.
- 25:37The knowledge that God approved of and even demanded sacrifices
- 25:41from man was a potent motive in inducing him to
- 25:43offer them. The sacrifices of the Jewish nations, more particularly
- 25:47that of the pastial Lamb and the victim of expiation,
- 25:50were typical of the Great sacrifice that the Redeemer was
- 25:53to offer on Mount Calvary, so a type of foreshadowing
- 25:57up in the Old Testament everywhere of blood. This was
- 26:01typical of the blood of Christ, whereby we are purified.
- 26:05On the Great Day of Atonement, one of the ceremonies
- 26:07consisting this, the High Priest laid both his hands upon
- 26:10the head of one of the goats which were to
- 26:12be offered up for the people, confessing at the same
- 26:14time the iniquities of the children of Israel, and praying
- 26:18that that they might light upon the head of the animal.
- 26:21Therefupon the goat turned was turned out into the desert.
- 26:25The express sims to express symbolically that the sins of
- 26:30the people were taken away out of God's sight. That's
- 26:32what's where we get the term escape goat. Since the
- 26:35Jewish sacrifices were but a foreshadowing of our Lord's expiatory sacrifice,
- 26:40they ceased after this was offered, as had been foretold
- 26:43by the prophet Daniel, by the prophets including Daniel and
- 26:46Hoseah Daniel nine twenty seven and Hoseiah three to four.
- 26:51Nor were the sacrifices of the Heathen anything more or
- 26:54less than seeking after the true sacrifice of atonement. The
- 26:58victims were without blemish, of pure and spotless oblation. Moreover,
- 27:02everywhere the persuasion seemed to prevail, that it is impossible
- 27:07that with the blood of oxen and goats, sin should
- 27:10be taken away Hebrews ten four, or that the deity
- 27:13should be propitiated by any other similar victim. A victim
- 27:18of infinite value was needed to reconcile God with man.
- 27:22And we'll stop there, and next week we'll talk about
- 27:26the sacrifice of Christ upon the Cross. We're going to
- 27:28get into very We're geting really deep into the sacrificial's meaning.
- 27:34It's not symbology, it's real in the Eucharist, it's a representation.
- 27:41And hopefully this will also give you a lot more
- 27:44insight into the Book of Revelations or the Apocalypse, which
- 27:48is also a form of the Mass. You can read
- 27:54the Apocalypse of Saint John in the context of the
- 27:58end of the world and end times, or you can
- 28:01actually see it as a really a symbology, a type
- 28:06of the Mass. So we'll get into that. Anyway, y'all
- 28:12have a going get a free book from me. Tell
- 28:15everybody you know to get a free book from me.
- 28:16I would like to give away thousands of free books
- 28:18this year, and say a prayer that my new laptop
- 28:23gets here on time so I can keep caught up
- 28:26with my writing and my podcasts. It's really hard to
- 28:30do when you only have a phone to work with
- 28:32basically right now, and I can't even open my word
- 28:38processing programs. You know, I got different ones, and I'm
- 28:41writing three books at one time. I can't even open
- 28:43them on my laptop for some reason right now. And
- 28:47I try to reboot it and it almost didn't come
- 28:49back on. It took like five or six tries. So
- 28:52it's just like holding on by a thread right now.
- 28:54So I can't write. I will get some woodcarving done,
- 28:56don't forget. Check out Judson Carrol Woodcraft dot com if
- 28:59you want to see my carvings and maybe buy something
- 29:01from me. I always appreciate that. So y'all have a
- 29:04good one. Remember this. This is the time of Lent,
- 29:08and you know, I'll say one last thing. You know,
- 29:13as kids were taught to give up you know, sugar
- 29:17or sugar or candy for lentt a lot of adults
- 29:20might give up alcohol or cigars or you know, well,
- 29:24you may consider a bad habit, that's not really what
- 29:27Lent's all about. Now, if you have an issue, okay,
- 29:30if you have an addiction, definitely try to give it
- 29:33up for Lent. Whether it's a food, drink, drugs, pornography,
- 29:38whatever it is, you try to give it up. And
- 29:43God gives us special graces during lentt And after forty
- 29:46days that habit, well it may even be broken, but
- 29:50will at least be much strengthened against it. But that's
- 29:54not really what Lent's all about. Lentz a time of prayer, fasting,
- 29:59and alms giving. It's a time to draw closer to God.
- 30:02So really it's the time to look at what what
- 30:08in my life separates smoothing from God. Is it a habit?
- 30:11Is it a sin? For me? I have a real
- 30:14issue with thinking about the past and worrying about the future. Well,
- 30:19that's actually very sinful. Jesus said, be anxious for nothing,
- 30:23so we can't worry about the future. And you know,
- 30:27I've been reading Saint Faustino a lot lately, and she's
- 30:29just adamant that no one can change anything that happened
- 30:31in the past. So that's what I'm focusing on for Lent. Yes,
- 30:35I'm doing some dietary things, you know, I'm fasting and
- 30:39you know a lot of different things like that and
- 30:42making little sacrifices. But that's basically ask kids stuff, right.
- 30:47My resolution is not to think about the past or
- 30:51to worry about the future, but to try to live
- 30:53in the moment, relying on God doing the best I can.
- 31:00If there's something like that in your life, I would
- 31:05strongly urge you to consider thinking not so much. You know,
- 31:11I'm going to give up eating cookies for wint, But
- 31:15what is this thing I need to work on that
- 31:18is separating me from God? And say a prayer about it,
- 31:23pray on it a lot, ask the help of your
- 31:28guardian angel and all the angels and saints, especially the
- 31:31Blessed Mother as always. That I think is going to
- 31:36be far more efficacious as the as father Sparagao would
- 31:41have said. Then, you know, giving up soft drinks for
- 31:46wint or something like that, that's just, you know, that's
- 31:48not really what it's all about. It can be good.
- 31:51It can be good, especially if you have a dependance
- 31:54and addiction whatever. Maybe you need to drop a few pounds,
- 31:57that's great too, but that's not really what it's all about,
- 32:01So just bear that in mind. I think, you know,
- 32:04we tend to remember the way we were taught as kids,
- 32:07not ever really thinking that, you know, that was almost
- 32:10really symbolic, you know, that was making a little sacrifice,
- 32:14that was keeping you mindful of lent. That's not really
- 32:17what it's all about. So I'm just gonna leave it there.
- 32:19Y'all have a going and I'll talk to you next time.
