- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast. All right. Thanks, Sean. Let's go
- 0:04Speaker 1: to Nat. Get a hit of celeb news. What are
- 0:05Speaker 1: you following?
- 0:06Speaker 2: You may have seen this come through yesterday afternoon.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Sarah Arbo is going to leave the Today Show and
- 0:11Speaker 3: Channel 9 at the end of the year, but effective
- 0:13Speaker 3: immediately because she's currently on maternity leave.
- 0:16Speaker 2: So she just will not return to the show.
- 0:18Speaker 3: She was co-host for four years and obviously mostly with
- 0:21Speaker 3: Carl Stefanovic, who left the show less than two months ago.
- 0:26Speaker 2: So, yeah, Sarah is on mat leave. Her contract with
- 0:28Speaker 2: Nine will not be renewed.
- 0:29Speaker 3: We don't know what she's going to do yet, but
- 0:32Speaker 3: she did upload an Instagram post yesterday about her exit,
- 0:36Speaker 3: and this is what she said.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Hello.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Just breaking my mat leave for a hot minute with
- 0:40Speaker 4: a little eight-week-old just sleeping soundly for a minute. Just
- 0:42Speaker 4: to say that I am no longer returning to the
- 0:44Speaker 4: Today Show or the Nine Network. I have had such
- 0:47Speaker 4: a wonderful time there. I've enjoyed every second of my
- 0:50Speaker 4: time there. I love the team I work with. I
- 0:52Speaker 4: adore everyone behind the scenes. I'll miss you terribly, but
- 0:55Speaker 4: there is more to come, and I'm excited about that,
- 0:59Speaker 4: and I look forward to that in due course.
- 1:01Speaker 2: But for now, it's a big thank you.
- 1:03Speaker 1: More to come.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's actually Nines Upfronts today, which if you
- 1:06Speaker 3: don't work in media, Upfronts basically means they put on
- 1:09Speaker 3: a presentation where they say, here's all the exciting shows
- 1:12Speaker 3: we have next year.
- 1:14Speaker 2: So that's happening today.
- 1:15Speaker 3: So it's expected they'll announce the permanent replacements for both
- 1:18Speaker 3: Sarah and Carl today. And it's tipped that it's going
- 1:21Speaker 3: to be Sylvia Jeffries, who's currently interim host, alongside Tom Steinfurt,
- 1:26Speaker 3: who's also on.
- 1:26Speaker 2: There at the moment as well.
- 1:28Speaker 3: But, yes, Sylvia Jeffries and Tom Steinfurt have also addressed
- 1:31Speaker 3: Sarah's departure this morning on the show.
- 1:33Speaker 2: This happened about 15 minutes ago, so take a listen.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Okay, now to a little bit of news of our
- 1:38Speaker 5: own this morning. As you may have already seen, our
- 1:40Speaker 5: Sarah Arbo has announced that she is leaving her role
- 1:43Speaker 5: here at Today and online.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Sarah will always be such a much-loved part of this
- 1:48Speaker 6: Today family, no matter what, and talking to her last night,
- 1:52Speaker 6: I know that she's been feeling so much love from you,
- 1:55Speaker 6: our wonderful viewers, after she shared that news and thanked
- 1:59Speaker 6: Australia for welcoming her today. into your homes and letting
- 2:03Speaker 6: her be part of your every morning routine.
- 2:05Speaker 5: So, Sarah, on behalf of everyone here at today, at nine,
- 2:09Speaker 5: in front of the camera, on the floor, behind the scenes,
- 2:12Speaker 5: out there in the newsroom at 60 Minutes, all of us,
- 2:15Speaker 5: thank you. Thank you for giving so much of yourself
- 2:18Speaker 5: to this show and for being such a joy to
- 2:21Speaker 5: share our mornings with. But, of course, now that joy
- 2:24Speaker 5: belongs to Sunny, beautiful Sunny and Cyrus. We are all
- 2:28Speaker 5: going to miss you, Sairs, and we absolutely adore you.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Can I just ask a question?
- 2:32Speaker 7: Is anyone else, apart from media people, when you hear
- 2:35Speaker 7: people going on like this on live TV, like I
- 2:38Speaker 7: made an announcement this morning. I was very quick with it.
- 2:41Speaker 7: You can go and read it on my socials, Mike
- 2:43Speaker 7: E Radio.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Can you remove that bell from him?
- 2:46Speaker 1: No, it's staying here. It's part of my new contract.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I had the bell written into it. Yeah. Appendage AC
- 2:54Speaker 1: or something.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Appendage.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Appendix. Appendix.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Appendix.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I hope there's no appendages written into your contract.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I don't think I read the contract properly or know
- 3:03Speaker 1: how to read a contract. Or read in general.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Or spell.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Why did they re-sign me? What was the point?
- 3:09Speaker 2: Oh, don't people just hate.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Like, doing that, having to announce things, hearing it.
- 3:15Speaker 5: And I think unless you're in that, you know, said
- 3:19Speaker 5: media world, no.
- 3:20Speaker 1: One actually cares. I don't know.
- 3:23Speaker 3: No, there are people, particularly with the Today Show and
- 3:26Speaker 3: shows like that, old people will wake up every morning,
- 3:29Speaker 3: put their TV on, and they feel they have this
- 3:32Speaker 3: parasocial relationship with And there'd be people that listen to
- 3:35Speaker 3: this show and it's part of their routine every day.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So I do think people care.
- 3:39Speaker 7: I do understand that. I just hate doing them. I
- 3:41Speaker 7: preferred when I'm just walked from a network. I'm on
- 3:43Speaker 7: the radio every day and then bang, I'm gone.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You know what I want to happen?
- 3:47Speaker 3: You know how Sarah Arbo did that on her socials?
- 3:50Speaker 3: Can everyone who leaves their.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Job, and I notice it on socials, do that for
- 3:54Speaker 2: me so.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I know why?
- 3:55Speaker 3: Can anyone who goes through a breakup, can everyone have
- 3:57Speaker 3: to do a post like this?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Just so you know, Ryan and I have actually separated.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Tell me why so I don't have to stalk, I
- 4:03Speaker 3: don't have to ask around.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Can we all just make the announcement of a normal
- 4:06Speaker 2: thing on socials? Heaps of transparency.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Please.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Also, Jennifer Lawrence, I love her. She's 36, so she's
- 4:12Speaker 2: a millennial.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Oh.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Wait, we've got a breaking.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I don't know how this keeps happening. I'm so sorry.
- 4:18Speaker 3: The Today Show have just confirmed Sylvia and Tom will be.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Their new co-hosts.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Yay!
- 4:23Speaker 2: Breaking news. Breaking news. You heard it here first.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Now, so yeah, Jennifer Lawrence, you'd know her from The
- 4:29Speaker 3: Hunger Games mostly, but she is hilarious.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I love her.
- 4:31Speaker 2: She's 36. She's a millennial. And she was on Amy
- 4:34Speaker 2: Poehler's Good Hang podcast.
- 4:35Speaker 3: And she was talking about her much younger assistant, her
- 4:38Speaker 3: 23-year-old assistant, going through her closet and finding something that
- 4:42Speaker 3: shocked her.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Let's take a listen.
- 4:44Speaker 5: My assistant is 23.
- 4:45Speaker 7: And so like I was doing like a closet clean
- 4:47Speaker 7: out yesterday and she was like, oh, my God, these
- 4:50Speaker 7: are like real skinny jeans.
- 4:52Speaker 2: She was like, wow, they really do go in at
- 4:54Speaker 2: the bottom. Skinny jeans.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:57Speaker 2: The thing of the past these days.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Oh, they're so disgusting. Well, can I ask what jeans
- 5:02Speaker 1: are in? I'm a dude. I'm confused. Wide leg.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Wide leg.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Or barrel leg.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I like a barrel leg jean.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I don't know what that means.
- 5:09Speaker 2: So basically just.
- 5:10Speaker 3: I'm wearing.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I'm wearing. Look, I'm wearing a wide leg today. They
- 5:13Speaker 2: just shouldn't really touch your leg at any stage.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Oh.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So me then? Some people go too baggy, though. But
- 5:19Speaker 2: do you still wear high-waisted?
- 5:21Speaker 3: Just so everyone knows, I'm the only one on mic
- 5:22Speaker 3: because they've both run over there. So let me talk
- 5:24Speaker 3: you through Mikey's ill-fitting jeans. Can you get a new pair, mate?
- 5:28Speaker 3: And also the knee, that is not a rip. You
- 5:31Speaker 3: can tell that didn't come with the jeans.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Those jeans look like they ripped by accident.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Those jeans look like they're about 35 years old. Oh,
- 5:38Speaker 3: and there's tomato sauce on the pocket or something. But also,
- 5:40Speaker 3: you know when you can just tell a piece of
- 5:42Speaker 3: clothing smells? Yeah. Those jeans, you can tell, have trapped
- 5:48Speaker 3: in the most heinous of smells.
- 5:49Speaker 1: My girlfriend wrote me a list of things I need. Yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 1: You know. New clothes. Yeah, but literally jeans was on there.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Do you have this list? Do I have one?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Do you have the list?
- 5:59Speaker 6: Yes.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I'll bring it in tomorrow if you want.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Oh, it's a written list.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Written list. Yeah. Things I need. I want to read it.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Also a to-do list. I'm like, oh, here we go.
- 6:06Speaker 1: There's like stuff.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Around the house.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Oh, you're getting a list now. Yeah. How often do
- 6:09Speaker 1: you wash your jeans, Mikey? Do you agree? Do I
- 6:12Speaker 1: need new jeans?
- 6:13Speaker 2: No, but that's a wholehearted yes. Sean asked how often
- 6:17Speaker 2: do you wash your jeans?
- 6:17Speaker 1: Oh, I'll plug myself back in. Sorry, what was the question?
- 6:20Speaker 1: How often do you wash your jeans?
- 6:21Speaker 2: Those jeans look like they haven't been washed this year.
- 6:24Speaker 1: No, you're not meant to wash your jeans. You're meant
- 6:26Speaker 1: to put them in the freezer.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Don't use that rule to get out of the fact
- 6:30Speaker 2: that those jeans. They look like they have never been
- 6:34Speaker 2: washed this year.
- 6:35Speaker 1: No, I have washed them.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Maybe once?
- 6:37Speaker 1: Yeah, a couple of times.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I hate to smell the fork of those.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Do you want to smell them?
- 6:40Speaker 2: No, I'd hate to.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Smell the fork of them, the crutch.
- 6:43Speaker 2: The crutch. If you've never washed them.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I have washed them. I do wash them.
- 6:48Speaker 2: You know we're September. No, you don't. We're almost October.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Well, you know what I'm doing? I'm just holding out
- 6:52Speaker 1: for short season, right? I'm like, I don't want to
- 6:54Speaker 1: buy new jeans because I hate shopping.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Now, can we speak about you in shorts?
- 6:58Speaker 2: Don't wear the high socks you wear. Oh, you wear
- 7:01Speaker 2: high socks with shorts. Yeah, but they're like soccer socks.
- 7:04Speaker 2: He wears them and he pulls them up so far.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And he's like, yeah, I heard on the internet that
- 7:09Speaker 2: young people do this. I'm like, well, might I remind
- 7:12Speaker 2: you of your age?
- 7:13Speaker 3: And also, you can tell when someone's trying to do
- 7:16Speaker 3: something and it's not quite working.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Because you've got no swag.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Just ankle socks is fine for you. Fine for you.
- 7:22Speaker 2: But make sure they're not visible. Make sure they're not visible.
- 7:24Speaker 2: You can't see any sock.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Because that's what.
- 7:25Speaker 7: I did here, the Gen Zs. I was on a
- 7:27Speaker 7: train platform once. Believe it or not, I was getting
- 7:30Speaker 7: a train.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Believe it or not.
- 7:32Speaker 2: God, I had to ride a train with the peasants.
- 7:35Speaker 2: And your stinky jeans.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I got bullied by these Gen Zs.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Oh.
- 7:39Speaker 1: They looked at my ankle socks.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Yeah, but I've seen your ankle socks.
- 7:43Speaker 2: They're not low enough.
- 7:44Speaker 1: He was like, no one's wearing them anymore, Grandpa.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah, because your ankle socks are visible. They're the ones
- 7:49Speaker 2: that sit on the ankle bone.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So I need.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So you need like sockets.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Right. Ew. Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 2: What?
- 7:55Speaker 1: You disagree?
- 7:56Speaker 2: Not necessarily the ones that only cover the toe and ankle.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Is that why you're saying ew?
- 8:00Speaker 3: But like he needs invisible socks.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Invisible socks.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 5: We either don't want to see your socks or just
- 8:06Speaker 5: keep wearing jeans.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Very confused, eh? Women and fashion and stuff.
- 8:12Speaker 2: You're not the stocking little sock.
- 8:13Speaker 1: That's what I'm thinking of.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Like a beige coloured one. You can get them from
- 8:19Speaker 2: like hype and platypus. Like the invisible socks. Oh, okay.
- 8:24Speaker 1: You girls can dress me.
