- 0:42these. It gets a little Where am I at?
- 0:44Where am I talking to? I can imagine that.
- 0:47Very well. Well, introduce yourself here
- 0:49all. Right.
- 0:50Hi Cross Lena. I'm the head track and cross
- 0:53country coach at Embry Riddle University in Daytona.
- 0:55Beach, Florida. OK, I was going to say cuz
- 0:57there's two embry riddles, right?
- 0:59That is sure you know you're the Florida one.
- 1:00I'm the Florida one is is Florida the real one?
- 1:04Yes. You know, Florida is a we're a
- 1:08bigger campus. So there's two of us.
- 1:10There's one in Arizona, one in Florida.
- 1:12Are are they connected like sisters?
- 1:13Yes. OK.
- 1:14OK. We actually.
- 1:15Have a third campus, which is our worldwide campus is more of
- 1:18our online presence as well so. Well, then the Arizona ones,
- 1:22NAIA. Yeah.
- 1:23OK. And then we're NCAA Division
- 1:25Two, right? About three times the size, so.
- 1:27Yeah, got it. So tell me, how many years have
- 1:31you been coming to convention now?
- 1:34Forever. OK, that's great answer.
- 1:36It's probably at least 8 to 10. So as an expert in the
- 1:39convention, what is when you were looking at this week and
- 1:42you know I know you guys you guys are smart.
- 1:43You kind of playing out your week.
- 1:44There's some not you know can't miss topics or events.
- 1:47What was your one or two. Just like there's no way, no
- 1:50matter what happens, I gotta make this.
- 1:53I mean, number one, you gotta make the Mondo party.
- 1:55There you go. Absolutely.
- 1:57Yeah. That's number one.
- 1:57Whatever said. Powerman #2 Yeah, you gotta go
- 2:00to the party. You know, for me, I'm on like 3
- 2:04committees, so 90% of my time here I think spent in meetings
- 2:08and the not fun part, trying to get to a couple of symposiums
- 2:14just to kind of hear some things.
- 2:15But but is the the meetings for those, you know the executive
- 2:19committee meetings and things like that.
- 2:20You said the not fun part but what side is so then why do it?
- 2:24Let me ask it that way. It's not fun kind of self admit
- 2:27there. Why then why do it?
- 2:29But it's it's. Maybe not necessarily the fun
- 2:31part, but it's the most important part.
- 2:33You know, it's it's making a difference in our sport trying
- 2:35to grow our sport trying to make it better.
- 2:38You know, what are the things that we can do to fine tune
- 2:40things to make it better for our student athletes to have a great
- 2:43student athlete experience, you know, but also to try to make it
- 2:47the most competitive environment we can and and also be able to
- 2:50market it. Like how are we going to market
- 2:52it to make track and feel bigger and better and things like what
- 2:56you're doing like having podcast out there, so?
- 2:58You know people around the world hear about us, know about it,
- 3:01know what we're doing and know that you know we're producing
- 3:04quality product at all levels and and how do we let people
- 3:08know how good of an experience we're having and and what what
- 3:12difference making we can in this.
- 3:14Well, I appreciate you doing it because I know it's not always
- 3:16the fun part, but it is shaping our sport.
- 3:18It is important and don't get paid extra.
- 3:21It's more hours. I do appreciate that.
- 3:23And while that might not be the most fun thing in the world,
- 3:26this is right here. So I've got 100.
- 3:28Random questions number one through 100.
- 3:30You get to pick the number. You know, my favorite number is
- 3:332, so that's what I always go with.
- 3:34But my boy Chris Reed told me I should pick 38.
- 3:37I don't. I don't know.
- 3:40Oh, wait, let's do 38. We'll do both.
- 3:41No, no, we're gonna do both. Let's do #2 is your favorite
- 3:44number. Let's start there.
- 3:45Let's go #2. So #288 mph.
- 3:47You invented time travel. What?
- 3:50What are the rules? What's your time travel rules?
- 3:54Invented time trial. Gotta have rules.
- 3:57Yeah, what's your rules? You know Doc Brown, he had
- 4:00rules. Marvel Universe has their own
- 4:03rules. What's your What's your number
- 4:05one rule if you're going to be a time traveler?
- 4:06Just come screw it up. You know what I love?
- 4:12Simple rules, simple. Rules, you know, I'm kind of
- 4:15that way with my team. You know, we don't have a lot of
- 4:16team rules. It's, you know, there's
- 4:18expectations. And there's things you know.
- 4:20Hey, enjoy yourself. Go learn something.
- 4:23Yeah. But don't mess with time.
- 4:25That's that's a good. When you come back, leave it the
- 4:28same way you found. It's a good culture of like, we
- 4:30don't have a lot of rules, you know, be respectful, be on top,
- 4:32things like that. I love it.
- 4:33All right 38 Man, it's Cha Cha time.
- 4:36What's your favorite music artist and song?
- 4:40My favorite music artist and song.
- 4:41So right now most of the music I listen to is all Christian
- 4:45music. So right now, my favorite
- 4:46artists are we the Kingdom. And.
- 4:51Don't tread on me. Which is, yeah, you have to look
- 4:56out. It's pretty cool.
- 4:57It's a, you know, just about, you know, don't let the devil
- 5:00get to you. And you gotta.
- 5:02So I'm a. Huge and and it's also kind of
- 5:04like Rocky Christian. So it's not.
- 5:07It's something I can listen to while I'm running and and be
- 5:09excited about, but. Now I'm a huge Christian hip hop
- 5:12fan. That's 90% of the music I listen
- 5:14to is Lecrae and NF&NXT bike and guys like that.
- 5:21That's my it's my genre. If you've seen my Twitter post
- 5:24when I workout, when I posted those lyrics are all from CHH
- 5:27music. So, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:28Yeah. I was wondering where some of
- 5:30those quotes came. Yeah, all of them come from all
- 5:32those. Guys, some of them are off the
- 5:34wall. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:35It. Had to figure it out.
- 5:35It's when I'm listening to it. When a line or two catches me,
- 5:38I'll go over to my notes section and write it down for a future
- 5:41future post. Yeah, when my things are coming
- 5:43to show me. Let's get our selfie in here.
- 5:44Alright. Alright man.
- 5:46Appreciate you so much. Yeah.
