- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready to warm up with some Spanish? It's getting chilly out there. Luna: Totally! I was just thinking about all the winter clothes I need to dig out. Perfect timing. Lucas: Great, because today we're going to practice some phrases for dealing with the cold. If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with your Spanish, we're glad to have you along. Luna: Yeah, it's like a warm cup of language learning on a frosty day. Lucas: Exactly. So, let's start with the most important one. When you're cold, you say, Tengo frío. Luna: Tengo frío. That means I'm cold, right? Lucas: Exactly. Now, repeat after me. Tengo frío. Luna: Tengo frío. Lucas: Perfect. You can say that when you step outside and the wind hits you. Luna: Tengo frío. Like when I forgot my jacket that one time. Oof. Lucas: Exactly. So, what do you do when you're cold? You say, Voy a ponerme el abrigo. Luna: Voy a ponerme el abrigo. That's 'I'm going to put on my coat', right? Lucas: Yes. And if today was actually useful to you, the way these stay ad-free is listener support. You can buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it really helps us keep making these lessons. And a coffee sounds nice on a cold day too. Lucas: For sure. So, back to the cold. Let's say you need a scarf. Necesito una bufanda. Luna: Necesito una bufanda. That means I need a scarf. Lucas: Exactly. And remember, 'bufanda' is a nice, warm word. Practice it with me. Necesito una bufanda. Luna: Necesito una bufanda. I love that one. Lucas: Good. Now for gloves. Me pongo los guantes. Luna: Me pongo los guantes. That's 'I put on my gloves'? Lucas: Yes. And you can say it as you're putting them on. Luna: Me pongo los guantes. Okay, that's a mouthful but I like it. Lucas: You got it. And finally, the hat. El gorro es muy caliente. Luna: El gorro es muy caliente. The hat is very warm. Lucas: Perfect. So, let's put it all together. If I step outside and I'm cold, I might say, Tengo frío. Then I say, Voy a ponerme el abrigo, and maybe Necesito una bufanda. Then Me pongo los guantes, and finally, El gorro es muy caliente. Luna: Let me try all of that. Tengo frío... Voy a ponerme el abrigo... Necesito una bufanda... Me pongo los guantes... El gorro es muy caliente. Wow, I did it. Lucas: You nailed it. And that's a full winter outfit in Spanish. Luna: That's so cool. Now I can text my friend in Spanish about the cold. Lucas: And remember, you can always rewind and practice these again. Repetition is your friend. Luna: Yeah, I'm going to practice these every time I get dressed this week. Lucas: That's the spirit. So, if you're out there bundling up, try saying Tengo frío and see how it feels. Luna: And don't forget to wear a gorro. El gorro es muy caliente. Lucas: See you next time on Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Stay warm and keep practicing. Luna: Bye!
