Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: I have been conducting some independent research this week. I
- 0:08Speaker 1: don't know if you two know this. Yesterday was National
- 0:11Speaker 1: Coffee Day. Megan, you talked about that in the little victories. Yeah,
- 0:15Speaker 1: I've been conducting some independent research where this week. I
- 0:19Speaker 1: have been recording the audio of what it sounds like
- 0:21Speaker 1: when I go and get my wife's coffee order.
- 0:24Speaker 2: You're so weird, but I like it. I can't wait
- 0:27Speaker 2: to hear what this sounds like.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I want you to hear this very real audio of
- 0:30Speaker 1: what it sounds like when I order a coffee for Corey.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Take a listen. 53 Orlando left HD Y pivot F Dover.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Sounds exactly like what I got her.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I bet.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Yep.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Sounds exactly. So that was on Monday.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Okay.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I haven't done a coffee order yet today, but this
- 0:49Speaker 1: was what I had for you yesterday. This very real
- 0:52Speaker 1: audio of me getting my wife's coffee order.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Take a listen. It's going to be American Exchange. Can it.
- 0:59Speaker 3: All right. With three jet rib Z brownie.
- 1:01Speaker 1: If you could tell the first order wasn't as good
- 1:04Speaker 1: as the second one.
- 1:05Speaker 4: I don't know that second one. That's one of my favorites, too.
- 1:07Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure. One of the best.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I need to know who else is ordering God knows
- 1:13Speaker 1: what when they are going through the coffee line.
- 1:18Speaker 3: 701-280-1987.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Now, I'm not sure if you're aware, but I was
- 1:21Speaker 1: obviously kidding. Those are NFL plays.
- 1:24Speaker 5: But that weirdly does sound, that second one especially, the
- 1:27Speaker 5: American Exchange with the thing and the yeah and the
- 1:30Speaker 5: who and the what.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I know, I was thinking American Espresso.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Take a listen again.
- 1:33Speaker 1: It's going to be American Exchange, can it, with three
- 1:37Speaker 1: jet rib, Z brownie.
- 1:39Speaker 3: American Exchange, can it, three jet rib.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Three pumps of whatever. And brownie, it's a mocha. Right.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Has to be, yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 2: This is one that you're going to love, Gabe.
- 1:51Speaker 3: 701-280-1987.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I'm on a mission. Who has the most complicated order
- 1:58Speaker 1: while going through the coffee drive-thru? Because it's going to
- 2:01Speaker 1: go my wife and whoever is not even a close second.
- 2:05Speaker 4: It is incredible.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I have to have her type them out for me
- 2:08Speaker 1: because I will never remember by the time I get there.
- 2:10Speaker 2: That's fair. Just text it to me, please.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 2:15Speaker 6: 701-280-1987.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Do you have a wild coffee order going through the lineup?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Let us know this morning.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Big 98.7. Celebrating life's little victories. Victory. Every morning we
- 2:27Speaker 3: practice gratitude on Big 98.7. If I could, I would
- 2:30Speaker 3: keep this feeling in a plastic jar. Bust it out
- 2:33Speaker 3: whenever someone's acting hard. I just really needed a win,
- 2:36Speaker 3: you know.
- 2:37Speaker 6: Share your little victories with us at 701-280-1987.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Victories big or small, we take them all. Megan, do
- 2:44Speaker 1: you have a little victory today?
- 2:46Speaker 4: Okay, my little victory was, okay, yesterday was National Coffee Day.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Yes.
- 2:51Speaker 4: So I got home and I was like, hey, pups,
- 2:54Speaker 4: let's go get a coffee. I'll get you a Pub Cups.
- 2:56Speaker 4: They ran to the vehicle, whatever. We went to Ziggy's
- 2:59Speaker 4: like we talked about yesterday.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Went through the drive-thru and my dogs were so well
- 3:04Speaker 4: behaved in the drive-thru waiting for their pup cup that
- 3:06Speaker 4: even the lady at the window was saying, she's like,
- 3:09Speaker 4: I am so impressed with how well they're listening and
- 3:11Speaker 4: how good they are.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I go, the only reason they're listening right now is
- 3:15Speaker 2: because they know they're getting pup cups. Otherwise they would
- 3:18Speaker 2: be barking their heads off. But a win is a win, girl.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Right, right.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I was like, but thank you for thinking my dogs
- 3:24Speaker 4: are so well behaved.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Did they do the, I cannot remember if it's there,
- 3:27Speaker 1: so I apologize, Ziggy, if I'm throwing you under the bus.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Do they do the pup cup and then they put
- 3:32Speaker 1: the treat on top?
- 3:33Speaker 3: Yeah. Yes, yeah. Oh, I've been through that drive-thru with
- 3:36Speaker 3: the dog. It's a good one. Yeah, that's right. Angie,
- 3:40Speaker 3: do you have a little victory today?
- 3:41Speaker 2: We got caught up on The Voice.
- 3:44Speaker 5: So, like, our family show that we watch together is
- 3:47Speaker 5: The Voice. However, I feel like there are so many
- 3:51Speaker 5: episodes when it's the blind auditions that that it takes
- 3:54Speaker 5: forever to catch up, but we're finally up to date.
- 3:58Speaker 5: And I will say this, my kids are real judgy.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Really?
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yeah, they're like, what? Why would they turn for that? No,
- 4:08Speaker 2: they don't have good voices. I don't like it.
- 4:10Speaker 5: But it's very fun to watch them judge because obviously
- 4:13Speaker 5: they get that from me.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Okay, I like it.
- 4:16Speaker 4: I need to watch this because my boy Riley Green
- 4:19Speaker 4: is one of the coaches and he is sick.
- 4:22Speaker 5: He really is very attractive to the point where I
- 4:25Speaker 5: think some people choose him as his coach because they
- 4:28Speaker 5: just think he's hot.
- 4:29Speaker 2: And you know what? That's fair because that's how I
- 4:31Speaker 2: make choices. I would be guilty of that. I'm going
- 4:34Speaker 2: to rally green.
- 4:35Speaker 3: They're just trying to get close enough to smell his
- 4:37Speaker 3: hair or something.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Smell the stache. It's all about his stache.
- 4:42Speaker 4: I'm normally not a stache girl, but on him, I'm like, okay, yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Yeah, fair enough.
- 4:47Speaker 1: My Little Victory, your boy as of today, has been
- 4:50Speaker 1: a married guy for three years.
- 4:53Speaker 6: Oh!
- 4:55Speaker 3: Congratulations. Happy anniversary. Thank you.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I have three years ago made the greatest choice of
- 5:00Speaker 1: my life. And, you know, my wife probably questions it
- 5:02Speaker 1: every day for the past three years.
- 5:04Speaker 3: But I did something right.
- 5:07Speaker 2: As long as you understand that.
- 5:08Speaker 3: That's right.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And Corey is the greatest human of all time, the
- 5:11Speaker 1: best mom. And so I'm excited to go home today
- 5:15Speaker 1: and probably not really get to do a whole time
- 5:17Speaker 1: with her because we have a two-month-old baby.
- 5:19Speaker 3: But.
- 5:20Speaker 1: We might do, you know, go out to eat or something.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Kaylee's totally fine in a restaurant and things like that.
- 5:24Speaker 1: But pretty exciting that, you know, Angie says something in
- 5:28Speaker 1: this building when I'm walking around sometimes that like it's
- 5:31Speaker 1: like an eyebrow razor, but it's like, no, I get it.
- 5:33Speaker 3: When she's like, Gabe, you know, he's like a father.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Like that's a thing.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 2: It is kind of weird.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I feel the same way when it's, oh, Gabe, he's
- 5:43Speaker 1: a husband.
- 5:44Speaker 3: You know that, right?
- 5:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 2: But I know, you know what, I will say, I
- 5:48Speaker 2: know that you're an excellent husband.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I appreciate that. Thank you.
- 5:58Speaker 5: Love is Blind is returning October 14th to Netflix. And
- 6:03Speaker 5: I am a diehard fan of this show, even though.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Most of the time, love is not blind and it
- 6:10Speaker 5: does not work out for these people.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Not at all. No, but I'm invested.
- 6:14Speaker 5: And so in the spirit of love is blind, rather
- 6:18Speaker 5: than judge these contestants on what they look like, I've
- 6:22Speaker 5: been looking at the professions.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Of these dudes. And one of the guys.
- 6:29Speaker 5: His profession, this season is set in Boston, is.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Beekeeper, right?
- 6:36Speaker 5: Which is a very children's book profession.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Like, a beekeeper? Who's a beekeeper in real life?
- 6:45Speaker 4: Is that a full-time thing? Like, do you do something
- 6:49Speaker 4: else beyond that?
- 6:50Speaker 5: Right? But it doesn't say, like, when, you know, if
- 6:53Speaker 5: you go to Love is Blind on their social media pages,
- 6:56Speaker 5: it shows the people. And it only has beekeeper listed
- 6:59Speaker 5: for this dude, Matt.
- 7:01Speaker 2: So I looked up.
- 7:03Speaker 5: What is the average yearly salary for a beekeeper in
- 7:08Speaker 5: Boston specifically?
- 7:10Speaker 3: Okay.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Because is this like a viable?
- 7:12Speaker 5: If I'm looking to date a dude and he says, well,
- 7:15Speaker 5: I'm a beekeeper, my initial thought is, sir, how do
- 7:19Speaker 5: you afford life? So I looked it up and turns
- 7:22Speaker 5: out the average salary for a beekeeper is $ 55, 000 a year.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Okay.
- 7:28Speaker 2: How old is this man?
- 7:29Speaker 3: That's solid.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I know, right? He's in his 30s.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Okay.
- 7:32Speaker 2: He's in his 30s. $ 55, 000 a year.
- 7:34Speaker 5: But then I was looking at all the other professions
- 7:37Speaker 5: that these dudes have and it begs the question, like,
- 7:40Speaker 5: what makes more than a beekeeper? What makes less than
- 7:43Speaker 5: a beekeeper? So there's a guy who's a director of sales.
- 7:47Speaker 5: Do you think the director of sales makes more?
- 7:49Speaker 4: Way more.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I'm going to assume they do all right unless they're
- 7:53Speaker 1: selling matches.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Matches? Well, $ 225K a year. Yeah, way more.
- 8:00Speaker 5: For a director of sales. So then there's the HR generalist.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I don't even know what that means.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Do you generalize human resources?
- 8:08Speaker 2: Like, I don't know either.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Do you think that makes more or less than the beekeeper?
- 8:12Speaker 4: Sounds like a.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Great gig because I could never do it.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you should never be in HR.
- 8:19Speaker 5: Never.
- 8:20Speaker 2: But I'm going to guess more. Yeah, they make 80K
- 8:22Speaker 2: a year.
- 8:23Speaker 3: That's solid.
- 8:24Speaker 5: There's a senior compliance manager. Who needs to comply? I
- 8:29Speaker 5: don't know.
- 8:30Speaker 2: But they make more or less than the beekeeper.
- 8:32Speaker 5: More.
- 8:33Speaker 4: I'm guessing everybody is making more.
- 8:35Speaker 5: $ 160, 000 a year. What's a senior compliance manager?
- 8:41Speaker 2: And I do this. Now, there's a wine sales consultant.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Do you think the wine sales consultant makes more or
- 8:49Speaker 5: less than the beekeeper? More.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I would also guess more. Anything in.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Anything in sales, if you're like really good at it,
- 8:56Speaker 1: there's no like cap on.
- 8:57Speaker 2: What you can make, right?
- 8:58Speaker 3: Weirdly not. Weirdly not.
- 9:01Speaker 5: 50K for a wine sales consultant. And then there's also
- 9:05Speaker 5: a yacht captain.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Do you think the yacht.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Captain is making more or less than the beekeeper?
- 9:11Speaker 3: I don't care what that guy's making. That job is sick.
- 9:14Speaker 3: That is pretty awesome. That is just a cool gig.
- 9:15Speaker 2: But also more.
- 9:17Speaker 4: More.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Only by 3K, 58K a year for the yacht captain.
- 9:21Speaker 5: So I think if you go on Love is Blind,
- 9:25Speaker 5: and you want someone to have a cool profession, they're
- 9:28Speaker 5: going to make a lot less.
- 9:29Speaker 4: That explains our salaries, I think, right there.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, 100%.
- 9:33Speaker 3: That old saying, happy spouse, happy house. You know what
- 9:37Speaker 3: I mean?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Oh, I like that.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Well, because it's always happy wife, happy life. Yes, it's true.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Well, that is true. But at some point, you know,
- 9:45Speaker 1: the guy's got to have something to look forward to.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And if it's not these bees.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I don't know what it is. Big 98.7. This is
- 9:54Speaker 3: Am I the Problem?
- 10:00Speaker 6: We'll hear one side of the story, and with your help,
- 10:05Speaker 6: decide if it's right or if maybe you're the problem.
- 10:09Speaker 2: That's right.
- 10:10Speaker 3: I am the problem. On Big 98.7.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Would you break up over this?
- 10:17Speaker 3: Hi, guys.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Welcome, Megan. This is Alicia. I've got a dating question
- 10:22Speaker 2: for you. It's a little not safe for work, but
- 10:25Speaker 2: I'll keep it clean.
- 10:26Speaker 3: We appreciate that, okay? My dog is listening.
- 10:29Speaker 5: I've been dating this guy for about a month now,
- 10:32Speaker 5: and it's been fun. But the one thing that's throwing
- 10:35Speaker 5: me is the fact that he's not down to get
- 10:38Speaker 5: down in the morning right when we wake up. He
- 10:42Speaker 5: has to have coffee before he can do anything. By
- 10:47Speaker 5: the time he's done with coffee, the moment has passed
- 10:49Speaker 5: for me, which is the worst because morning is my
- 10:52Speaker 5: favorite time for that. And even when I've talked to
- 10:55Speaker 5: him about it, he says he's just got to have
- 10:58Speaker 5: his coffee and that's that. I don't know if I
- 11:01Speaker 5: want to be with someone who chooses coffee over me
- 11:04Speaker 5: in the morning.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Why can't he just have his coffee afterwards? I feel
- 11:09Speaker 2: like he's lucky to be with a.
- 11:10Speaker 5: Unicorn like me who is always ready in the morning.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Am I ridiculous for wanting to break it off?
- 11:18Speaker 3: What is she talking about?
- 11:21Speaker 2: You know what?
- 11:21Speaker 4: He just needs to get perked up right away in
- 11:23Speaker 4: the morning is all I'm saying.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Like, that's why he needs his coffee, right? I mean,
- 11:28Speaker 2: I think so. Otherwise, why, sir, would you?
- 11:31Speaker 4: I don't know a man on earth who is turning
- 11:35Speaker 4: that down for coffee.
- 11:37Speaker 3: For coffee, Gabe, can you relate?
- 11:38Speaker 2: Unless you're 95. Serious. And even then, I mean. There's
- 11:45Speaker 2: a pill for that.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I'm telling you. Go ahead.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm telling you right now. You do you, King.
- 11:52Speaker 1: You get up and you enjoy that three minutes of bliss, okay?
- 11:56Speaker 3: Before it all goes downhill from there.
- 11:58Speaker 2: You're talking about the coffee?
- 12:01Speaker 3: The bedroom.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Are we talking the bedroom? Yeah, I know.
- 12:04Speaker 4: I was like, three minutes of coffee? Because three minutes
- 12:09Speaker 4: in the morning in the bedroom?
- 12:10Speaker 2: That's sad.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Just let the guy have his coffee. Is this the
- 12:13Speaker 1: hill to die on? Just let him drink the coffee.
- 12:16Speaker 6: Okay.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Has she had a conversation with him about this, though?
- 12:20Speaker 4: Is there a compromise where one day it's her way,
- 12:23Speaker 4: the next day it's his way?
- 12:25Speaker 2: Right?
- 12:25Speaker 5: She did say that she's talked to him about it,
- 12:29Speaker 5: and he said he just has to have his coffee,
- 12:31Speaker 5: and that's that.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Because that would probably be something. Because here's the thing.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Are you getting intimate any other time? Or is that
- 12:38Speaker 4: just because.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Yeah, is he like a night owl?
- 12:41Speaker 2: That's a big question, because that can be a big
- 12:43Speaker 2: thing at the end of the day.
- 12:44Speaker 4: They could definitely... And the relationship, if you're only a
- 12:48Speaker 4: month in.
- 12:49Speaker 2: What do you think Alicia should do? Let us know. 701-280-1987.
- 12:55Speaker 5: We also have this up on the Big 98.7 Facebook page.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I think Alicia, I don't know that this is the
- 13:04Speaker 2: hill to die on.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Right.
- 13:06Speaker 2: If everything else is great.
- 13:09Speaker 5: But I guess she wants it when she wants it.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I don't know. 701-280-1987.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Let us know what you think. I will say I
- 13:17Speaker 1: know exactly what I'm getting this dude for Christmas. I'm
- 13:21Speaker 1: getting him one of those coffee mugs. You know, no
- 13:23Speaker 1: talkie before coffee. How about like a no quickie before sippy?
- 13:29Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 13:37Speaker 1: Crystal said it sounds like she needs to find a
- 13:39Speaker 1: man who's down to, well, I'll say get it on
- 13:43Speaker 1: in the morning.
- 13:44Speaker 2: That was the cleaned up version.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Oh, that wasn't the good one? Oh, my bad.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Who is down to do it in the morning.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I'll say it.
- 13:53Speaker 2: That's not that bad.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Alicia wrote in and she's been dating a guy for
- 13:58Speaker 5: a month, early days. But she doesn't like that when
- 14:02Speaker 5: she's ready to go in the morning, he is not
- 14:06Speaker 5: because he just has to have coffee first.
- 14:09Speaker 2: And she thinks, is it?
- 14:12Speaker 5: I mean, I kind of want to break up with
- 14:13Speaker 5: him because he's choosing coffee over me.
- 14:15Speaker 2: And essentially she wants to know, is that a ridiculous reason?
- 14:18Speaker 4: Yeah. To break up with someone. This is going to
- 14:22Speaker 4: be a tough one. But Julia says, yes, you're the problem.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Imagine if he broke up with you for not putting
- 14:28Speaker 4: out during a certain part of the day when you
- 14:29Speaker 4: didn't feel up to it. Seems like a double standard here.
- 14:33Speaker 4: It's not him choosing coffee over you.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Oh, that actually is sound advice. We always can count
- 14:38Speaker 3: on Julia, though. I know.
- 14:39Speaker 1: She really is the voice of reason in the comments
- 14:41Speaker 1: section all the time.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Yeah, because we don't have a voice of reason. Not
- 14:44Speaker 2: on this show.
- 14:45Speaker 4: That's right. That is actually a very good point.
- 14:48Speaker 2: And it's very early in the relationship, right?
- 14:50Speaker 4: Like.
- 14:51Speaker 5: OK, that's the thing, because it's so early in the relationship,
- 14:54Speaker 5: I feel like if you really want to cut and run, girl,
- 14:58Speaker 5: and find some. But now you've got to put it
- 15:00Speaker 5: in your dating profile or something.
- 15:05Speaker 2: So that they know that that's what you want.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah, we just got a text from Jenna out of
- 15:10Speaker 1: West Fargo. She said, girl, it's been one month. The
- 15:13Speaker 1: man has a coffee routine and you're breaking up over it.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Let him caffeinate.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Everybody's better after coffee, including you, which is great.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I love that.
- 15:24Speaker 4: And I mean, I mean, it might be longer than
- 15:27Speaker 4: the three minutes that Gabe talked.
- 15:28Speaker 2: About earlier then.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Three minutes? I didn't know we were running a marathon.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 15:34Speaker 3: What in the world?
- 15:36Speaker 2: And it's your anniversary today, Gabe?
- 15:38Speaker 3: I know. Sorry, Cory.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Sorry, girl.
- 15:41Speaker 3: This is from Brittany.
- 15:42Speaker 1: She said, you call yourself a unicorn, but unicorns don't
- 15:44Speaker 1: give ultimatums over a latte. Have a little patience and
- 15:48Speaker 1: let the man wake up.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Wow.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I do say Molly is completely with our girl, though.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Molly from Detroit Lakes, actually. She said she's not wrong
- 16:00Speaker 1: to want her partner to meet halfway. Coffee can wait
- 16:02Speaker 1: 10 minutes. If it can't, that tells you something. What
- 16:06Speaker 1: could happen in six months?
- 16:07Speaker 5: Okay, I have the perfect solution. He should just drink
- 16:12Speaker 5: coffee during, but obviously iced coffee so there's no injury. Jesus.
- 16:17Speaker 3: That would be the safest.
- 16:18Speaker 2: That's the safest. That satisfies both people.
- 16:23Speaker 4: I got sound advice from Alyssa over on Facebook that says,
- 16:27Speaker 4: it's been a month. I think you should end for
- 16:29Speaker 4: his sake. Also, you think you're a unicorn for that reason?
- 16:33Speaker 4: I mean, I'm sure you've thought of things like bringing
- 16:35Speaker 4: him coffee right away in the morning if you.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Really need it then.
- 16:39Speaker 4: I like that idea.
- 16:40Speaker 3: A little coffee in bed.
- 16:42Speaker 2: And then that could go into what you just said.
- 16:44Speaker 5: That's true, as long as it's iced coffee, okay?
- 16:50Speaker 3: Or cold brew. 701-280-1987. You can check out the Am
- 16:53Speaker 3: I the Problem on Facebook.
- 16:54Speaker 1: We're always looking for advice to pass along, and it
- 16:57Speaker 1: is so fun to read these by, like, noon, you know,
- 17:01Speaker 1: throughout the day. So if you are kind of bored
- 17:03Speaker 1: on your lunch break today, get the popcorn ready and
- 17:05Speaker 1: dive into the comments for Am I the Problem on
- 17:07Speaker 1: the Big 98.7 Facebook page.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Drop it, drop it. Big 98.7.
- 17:13Speaker 4: And I know we're looking far from like Christmas, but
- 17:16Speaker 4: some people are already thinking about Christmas gifts because some
- 17:19Speaker 4: people do early shopping.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Do either of you do early shopping?
- 17:22Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I do like day of shopping.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 17:27Speaker 3: I'm not surprised. I'm that 7 a.m.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Like, oh.
- 17:30Speaker 3: It's Christmas.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 17:32Speaker 3: I forgot it was coming. Let me run to Walmart.
- 17:35Speaker 2: You're so great. Well, here's the thing. It might actually
- 17:38Speaker 2: work for your Walmart run this year.
- 17:39Speaker 4: All right. Because holiday shoppers buying essentials, not gifts this year. Like,
- 17:44Speaker 4: just because of where the economy is at, people are
- 17:47Speaker 4: buying more your personal hygiene sales. They're forecast to jump
- 17:51Speaker 4: and buy. clothing basics are expected to rise. I wonder
- 17:54Speaker 4: if that means like socks when you talk basics.
- 17:57Speaker 5: I think that's even just as you get older, getting
- 17:59Speaker 5: socks for Christmas is like, especially fun ones, right? Yes.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I get socks every single year in the stocking.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Do you really?
- 18:07Speaker 3: Every single year.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:09Speaker 5: See, no.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Okay.
- 18:09Speaker 4: This is my childhood because I love this and I
- 18:12Speaker 4: feel like Santa and my household has been doing this
- 18:14Speaker 4: for years because we as adults still get stockings from
- 18:19Speaker 4: my parents' place when we go home for Christmas. Oh, yeah.
- 18:22Speaker 4: And every year I get so excited because that's where
- 18:24Speaker 4: I get all these essentials, where I get the travel
- 18:26Speaker 4: size toothpaste. I get a new toothbrush. I get the mouthwash.
- 18:32Speaker 4: I get the travel size shampoo conditioner. Like also my
- 18:35Speaker 4: favorite candy because Santa knows, you know.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to add that in there.
- 18:39Speaker 5: But I feel like that's the move is getting the
- 18:43Speaker 5: essentials for Christmas.
- 18:45Speaker 2: The thing is, I don't want to.
- 18:47Speaker 5: I loathe having to spend money on household essentials.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Right.
- 18:52Speaker 2: That drives me insane. I want to spend my money
- 18:54Speaker 2: on fun things.
- 18:56Speaker 5: So if I were making a Christmas list.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Of like other people getting me stuff, I've got it here.
- 19:02Speaker 5: I would be like dishwasher pods, batteries, aluminum foil, paper.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Towels, razors. That's what I want for Christmas this year.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Also toilet paper. I'm good with that because here's the thing.
- 19:11Speaker 4: I do not want you to buy my clothing for
- 19:14Speaker 4: me because I like to pick that out myself.
- 19:16Speaker 5: Right.
- 19:17Speaker 2: That part. I don't want to return it because I will.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Okay.
- 19:21Speaker 3: What?
- 19:22Speaker 2: Even without a gift receipt?
- 19:24Speaker 4: I will return it. No, no, no, no. My family
- 19:26Speaker 4: has learned that if they try, they've stopped buying me clothing,
- 19:29Speaker 4: but when they did, there was always, and there's a
- 19:30Speaker 4: gift receipt in there.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Thank you, because I'll be using it.
- 19:33Speaker 3: What were those things you listed off?
- 19:35Speaker 5: I want dishwasher pods, batteries, aluminum foil, paper towels, and raisins.
- 19:40Speaker 3: You know what's funny?
- 19:41Speaker 1: In my entire existence, I've never thought of buying those,
- 19:44Speaker 1: much less around Christmas. I have one of those wives
- 19:47Speaker 1: where there's like nine half-used toothpastes at our house. When
- 19:52Speaker 1: it's halfway done, she just like always grabs one. She's
- 19:54Speaker 1: kind of always stacking on. The problem is we never
- 19:57Speaker 1: finish the toothpaste. There's always a billion rolling around. So
- 20:00Speaker 1: these essentials that you're talking about, it's like, I feel
- 20:03Speaker 1: like I have.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Six of half of all of these.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Well, it's because your wife takes care of it.
- 20:08Speaker 5: If your wife was not in a picture game, you
- 20:10Speaker 5: would need to ask Santa for toothpaste. You're right.
- 20:14Speaker 4: So this year, maybe you're the one who needs to
- 20:16Speaker 4: actually go and buy the essentials for your wife.
- 20:19Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 1: That is a thought. We'll see if I get it done, though.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I really like what Trevor said. If you could only
- 20:26Speaker 1: ask for like essentials, household essentials.
- 20:28Speaker 6: Right.
- 20:29Speaker 1: What would you want for Christmas this year? Well, Trevor
- 20:31Speaker 1: and me are going shopping together.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Beer.
- 20:34Speaker 2: That is a household essential. Such an essential.
- 20:36Speaker 4: We'll take seltzers.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 20:38Speaker 1: A lot of people do say, like, you know, groceries
- 20:41Speaker 1: or food, obviously a very big thing.
- 20:43Speaker 3: That would be wonderful to have. Melanie said a full
- 20:45Speaker 3: tank of propane.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Okay, that is exactly where my parents are like, hey, kids,
- 20:49Speaker 4: want to, like, get together and get us a whole
- 20:51Speaker 4: tank of propane? That'd be great.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Merry Christmas.
- 20:53Speaker 1: There's nothing, and obviously a propane tank for, like, the house,
- 20:56Speaker 1: but I'm thinking there's nothing like getting a propane for
- 20:59Speaker 1: doing the grilling outside when there's two.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Feet of snow in December.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, there's that, too.
- 21:04Speaker 3: That would totally work.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Did you see that Crystal wants a whole new bed?
- 21:09Speaker 3: That is a household essential.
- 21:11Speaker 2: That's a household essential, but honey, that is a big ask.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I mean, hey, go big or go home.
- 21:18Speaker 1: There is a comment on Facebook that has been making
- 21:20Speaker 1: me laugh all morning because I picture Jackie, who has
- 21:24Speaker 1: been just like kind of staring off into the sunset.
- 21:26Speaker 1: You know when you're filling up with gas and you
- 21:27Speaker 1: kind of look off into the distance and that's when
- 21:29Speaker 1: you have all your best thoughts? I feel like Jackie
- 21:32Speaker 1: is on to something. She said, you know, it's been
- 21:34Speaker 1: a minute since I had new hand towels.
- 21:37Speaker 3: I love how she puts that.
- 21:39Speaker 5: Yes!
- 21:39Speaker 2: I wouldn't have even thought of that. Jackie, I'm adding
- 21:43Speaker 2: that to my Christmas list.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Same.
- 21:45Speaker 4: And guess what you're getting us, Gabe?
- 21:48Speaker 3: Towels.
- 21:50Speaker 6: 701-280-1987.
- 21:50Speaker 1: If you could only get household essentials for Christmas this year,
- 21:54Speaker 1: which seems to be a very popular ask in 2026,
- 21:57Speaker 1: what are you putting right at the top of the
- 21:59Speaker 1: list for Santa Claus?
- 22:01Speaker 2: Big 98.7.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Starting off the day with something good. This is Gabe's
- 22:09Speaker 3: Good News on Big 98.7. I think you're going to
- 22:13Speaker 3: love this story today.
- 22:14Speaker 1: A once empty garden at Liberty Middle School in West
- 22:18Speaker 1: Fargo is finding a second life and it's now feeding students.
- 22:22Speaker 1: It all started with this idea from Renee Gust, who's
- 22:26Speaker 1: a food service worker who at West Fargo Public Schools.
- 22:28Speaker 3: She's also a retired nurse.
- 22:30Speaker 1: She noticed this garden space with raised beds that nobody
- 22:34Speaker 1: was using. That half acre garden, it now grows watermelon, cantaloupe,
- 22:39Speaker 1: squash and cherry tomatoes. And when they're ready, they go
- 22:43Speaker 1: straight from the garden to the cafeteria. Here she is
- 22:46Speaker 1: kind of talking a little bit about this wonderful idea.
- 22:49Speaker 5: This would be a great opportunity to see if the
- 22:52Speaker 5: school would allow me to plant some food that we
- 22:55Speaker 5: could harvest and serve to the children just.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Right from the garden. I am not a gardener.
- 23:01Speaker 5: A lot of people in my family are gardeners, but
- 23:04Speaker 5: I have never really done a lot of gardening.
- 23:07Speaker 1: And that's one thing I find the most impressive. For
- 23:09Speaker 1: someone who is not a gardener, she just... straight up
- 23:12Speaker 1: learned and is continuing, I'm assuming, to learn how to
- 23:15Speaker 1: do this with the students.
- 23:16Speaker 4: As someone else who is not a gardener, but I
- 23:19Speaker 4: did help my dad plant some things this year, I
- 23:21Speaker 4: will say that watermelon might have been one of the
- 23:23Speaker 4: easiest things I've ever seen grown and the tomatoes because
- 23:26Speaker 4: there was an endless amount of those things. Other than
- 23:30Speaker 4: I weeded the garden once afterwards, it grew out of control.
- 23:34Speaker 5: That's all it takes sometimes.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Yeah, what's your gardening, I don't know, ability? Angie, where
- 23:39Speaker 3: would you rank that?
- 23:40Speaker 2: I have a brown thumb. I was thinking a black
- 23:43Speaker 2: thumb myself.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I mean, it is bad.
- 23:44Speaker 2: I'm not good. But this is amazing. And that's awesome
- 23:46Speaker 2: for kids. And honestly, they're safe from the cyclospora.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right.
- 23:50Speaker 1: That's farm to lunch tray at Liberty Middle School. So
- 23:54Speaker 1: congratulations to all of them. What a cool idea. The
- 23:57Speaker 1: world is full of nice people. If you can't find one,
- 23:59Speaker 1: you got to be one. And never forget that broken crayons,
- 24:02Speaker 1: they still color.
