- 1:10Speaker 5: I have high aspirations of going out tonight and listening
- 1:13Speaker 5: to some music.
- 1:14Speaker 6: Well you go, I'm gonna go. I stretched, I have
- 1:18Speaker 6: my leg taped and everything. I'm also I don't want
- 1:20Speaker 6: to pull a hammy.
- 1:21Speaker 3: You know, are you planning to perform at always?
- 1:23Speaker 6: You know you're a musician.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Yeah, sometimes when I go, I will get called up.
- 1:27Speaker 5: There's certain bands that know me, they'll pull me up.
- 1:29Speaker 5: But some bands don't have keyboards, and then I'm sort
- 1:32Speaker 5: of at a loss at that point, I don't play guitar.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Well, you will be today at least air guitar.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I promise to tell you exactly when that's gonna happen,
- 1:41Speaker 2: and that will be the first time this week.
- 1:44Speaker 4: What really you did?
- 1:45Speaker 3: You led everybody else to hang Yeah, exactly, it's like
- 1:48Speaker 3: you did me last timely exactly exactly. But it only
- 1:52Speaker 3: took me five days, Bob, only took me.
- 1:54Speaker 6: Five good idea, what it's supposed to happen?
- 1:56Speaker 3: You know you have guest hosted quite a few times now.
- 1:59Speaker 6: It only takes dozen times before I finally figure it out.
- 2:02Speaker 4: You're like the Steve Martin of The Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:05Speaker 6: Pretty much. You know you've been the Timer Club. Yeah,
- 2:11Speaker 6: that's why I'm wearing the jacket. This is the five
- 2:12Speaker 6: Timer Club jacket.
- 2:14Speaker 3: It's our own version of the Masters. I'm trying to Oh,
- 2:19Speaker 3: it may not be a green jacket, but it's a
- 2:21Speaker 3: blue jacket.
- 2:22Speaker 4: We pick a great day. I've got it going on
- 2:24Speaker 4: right now.
- 2:24Speaker 7: I know.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Sorry, as soon as we can figure out no, no, no, no,
- 2:28Speaker 2: who's this guy who keeps slipping? Is a ball off
- 2:31Speaker 2: Robert McIntosh or something. He's like eighteenth back ben reprimanded
- 2:35Speaker 2: several times, but apparently hit it twice into the water
- 2:38Speaker 2: and both times slipped his ball off, flipped it, fail
- 2:42Speaker 2: it off, like oh, you know, like it's the ball's fault.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Oh, I see, And I've heard some serious swearing going
- 2:47Speaker 5: on on. That was really bad when I had never
- 2:51Speaker 5: heard before it was bad.
- 2:52Speaker 4: New works.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Wow, new combo, Yes.
- 2:56Speaker 6: A new combo that would offend almost anyone.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Really, and that went out live the it sure did.
- 3:01Speaker 6: I heard it live.
- 3:01Speaker 5: I sent it to my brother and my brother was like,
- 3:03Speaker 5: I've never heard that before.
- 3:07Speaker 6: It was kind of exciting.
- 3:09Speaker 8: Man.
- 3:09Speaker 4: I wish they could talk about it.
- 3:10Speaker 6: We're talking about cursing. Yesterday.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I know you know this, this is this is what happened.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Ross.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Do you want to tell Bob what happened? For only
- 3:18Speaker 2: the second time and one of our.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Yeah, dude, Jack dropped a fresh off F bomb?
- 3:23Speaker 3: Oh really, fresh off the press F bomb?
- 3:27Speaker 4: Did we have to hit the.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:30Speaker 4: Yeah, he hit the button.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Nothing to see here, keep moving.
- 3:34Speaker 3: It was pretty awesome. It was pretty awesome.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Whoever bumps it dumps it. That's what they say here.
- 3:39Speaker 3: In the bid.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Well.
- 3:41Speaker 6: Was there a was there a reason?
- 3:43Speaker 9: Jack?
- 3:43Speaker 6: Where you did you stub your toe?
- 3:45Speaker 4: What happened?
- 3:46Speaker 6: I lost my mind?
- 3:47Speaker 4: Really?
- 3:47Speaker 2: You were talking about cursing in front of your parents,
- 3:50Speaker 2: Like if I was a parent, you're comfortable with your
- 3:52Speaker 2: children swearing in front of you?
- 3:54Speaker 4: I see?
- 3:55Speaker 3: And I said, yeah, come on, Jack, but it's a
- 4:00Speaker 3: little Have asked.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Jack if he curses in front of his kids and
- 4:03Speaker 4: he went f yeah, And it made me love him
- 4:07Speaker 4: a little bit more. Let me tell you it was
- 4:10Speaker 4: the commitment to a joke, and he did it.
- 4:14Speaker 2: You should have seen Ross's face. His job must have
- 4:16Speaker 2: been hanging through what five minutes after that? You could
- 4:18Speaker 2: not believe, of all people, program director.
- 4:21Speaker 4: As soon as it happened, I was just so happy,
- 4:23Speaker 4: like I wanted to give you something like ten points
- 4:26Speaker 4: to gryffindors. I don't know, do you get.
- 4:28Speaker 6: Called into HR or something like that.
- 4:30Speaker 10: Or they wouldn't know about it, if anyone, if everyone else, just.
- 4:35Speaker 6: Would not speak of me.
- 4:37Speaker 5: On my one of my first TV jobs, my sports
- 4:40Speaker 5: guy dropped that, like at the.
- 4:43Speaker 6: End of the desk, he goes, dude, you are so.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Down there, just as we were fading out to commercial.
- 4:49Speaker 4: But it made it. It made it on the air.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Nobody said a thing because it was in Palm Springs
- 4:54Speaker 5: and nobody was probably watching, but nobody said a word.
- 4:57Speaker 5: And he's like, don't tell anybody that I did that, please, please,
- 5:00Speaker 5: end of my career, you're in Palm Springs, the beginning
- 5:03Speaker 5: of your career.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I had that situation with the very first radio station
- 5:08Speaker 2: that I worked at. I'm sitting in the newsroom, which
- 5:11Speaker 2: is kind of like the situation where Jack and Ross
- 5:13Speaker 2: are right, so this would be the main talk studio.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I'm over what would be in the newsroom, So the
- 5:18Speaker 2: speakers are on, which means whatever is going out over
- 5:21Speaker 2: the air, I can hear in the studio. Our traffic
- 5:24Speaker 2: reporter was taking was delayed couldn't get him on the mic.
- 5:29Speaker 2: They're queueing the mike queue and the mic he's not there.
- 5:32Speaker 2: It turns out that was when Howard Stern was brand
- 5:34Speaker 2: new in this market and he was busy listening to
- 5:37Speaker 2: Howard Stern. So when he finally keyed in his mic,
- 5:40Speaker 2: he assumed he was just talking to the control room.
- 5:43Speaker 2: He didn't think he was going out over the air.
- 5:45Speaker 2: And when the two guys said, so, what's going on, dude,
- 5:47Speaker 2: where are you at, He's like fog and they're like,
- 5:48Speaker 2: we don't see any fog. He said, well, open your
- 5:51Speaker 2: effing eyes.
- 5:52Speaker 3: You g D I mean, was wow.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Casting career went out with a blaze, very nice blaze
- 6:02Speaker 3: of glory.
- 6:03Speaker 4: The closest I.
- 6:04Speaker 6: Ever came to it was back in the day.
- 6:05Speaker 5: It was an Oklahoma city and I had to rent
- 6:07Speaker 5: demolition Man, remember that with Sylvester Saloon and Wesley Snipes.
- 6:10Speaker 5: I needed a clip from the movie. Oh and so
- 6:13Speaker 5: I had to go to Blockbuster back in the day.
- 6:14Speaker 5: I had to go to Blockbuster get it, use the
- 6:16Speaker 5: clip from the movie, and didn't think anything about it
- 6:18Speaker 5: because I turned the volume.
- 6:19Speaker 4: All the way down.
- 6:20Speaker 5: No, you're not going to hear anything, but I forgot that.
- 6:22Speaker 5: On VHS tapes, they would burn into the VHS the
- 6:26Speaker 5: closed captioning and we would run close captioning, so you
- 6:30Speaker 5: didn't hear it on the air. But there was an
- 6:32Speaker 5: F bomb in the closed captioning that did go out
- 6:34Speaker 5: if someone was watching on closed captioning, and it went
- 6:37Speaker 5: out over the air, and I got called in and
- 6:38Speaker 5: I was like, oh, I had no idea.
- 6:40Speaker 6: I had no idea that was gonna happen.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I didn't know they burned that into VHS.
- 6:44Speaker 4: I knew.
- 6:44Speaker 6: Now, I don't whoa So I did launch an F
- 6:49Speaker 6: bomb on Oklahoma City TV, just you know, for the
- 6:52Speaker 6: hearing impairs they got Oklahoma City.
- 6:55Speaker 10: I don't even know if I mean, I don't want
- 6:56Speaker 10: to offend, but I don't even know if that counts,
- 6:58Speaker 10: you know, sure, But it was just in the subtitles, right,
- 7:02Speaker 10: it was just captioning.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Well, I mean that is kind of like a half
- 7:06Speaker 3: a cuss word.
- 7:07Speaker 6: Yeah, it is right in your face.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It is right there. It's black and white and bright
- 7:12Speaker 2: in the morning.
- 7:12Speaker 4: It's f light.
- 7:15Speaker 3: If there is such a thing.
- 7:16Speaker 4: But we'll take it. I gotta come to also, I
- 7:18Speaker 4: feel obligated to come to the defense of professional golfers
- 7:23Speaker 4: or golfers. If you haven't crashed out after a golf
- 7:26Speaker 4: swing before, I don't know how much life you've actually lived. Right,
- 7:31Speaker 4: there is nothing more personal and vulnerable and out of
- 7:36Speaker 4: body than just losing your mind on a golf course.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Well, I just I was surprised earlier because I'd heard
- 7:44Speaker 2: that of all the golf tournaments, the Masters is are
- 7:47Speaker 2: very much sticklers for proper behavior.
- 7:50Speaker 10: There's no yelling much No Mark calkovec F, former Major winner,
- 7:55Speaker 10: kicked off for using your cell phone.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Ye.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Really, you cannot bring cell phone onto Augusta.
- 8:02Speaker 6: You cannot.
- 8:03Speaker 5: If you're broadcasting, you can't call the people fans. You
- 8:06Speaker 5: have to call them patrons. Oh, they are patrons.
- 8:10Speaker 10: But you can get a really good deal on a
- 8:12Speaker 10: pimento sandwich.
- 8:13Speaker 4: I've heard about that.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yo. Well, after you spend near a couple thousand dollars,
- 8:17Speaker 2: doesn't have.
- 8:17Speaker 6: To be that way, Yeah, it doesn't have to be.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Yeah. The ticketing for the Masters deb Everything you know
- 8:23Speaker 4: about professional sports basically goes out the window for the Masters,
- 8:27Speaker 4: whether it's the ticketing, the pricing, the merchandise. How about this,
- 8:31Speaker 4: They don't grill any food. I've been there. Don't want
- 8:34Speaker 4: to brag, but I just did. They don't grill any
- 8:38Speaker 4: food because they want the flowers to smell. Oh wow.
- 8:43Speaker 4: They want to make sure that I did not know.
- 8:44Speaker 4: When you walk out you are smelling the color green.
- 8:49Speaker 4: You are you are on a golf course and not
- 8:51Speaker 4: smelling a burger everything.
- 8:53Speaker 10: If you go in there, it's like the nineteen fifties
- 8:56Speaker 10: segregation included.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I heard no Jewish members know at American members.
- 9:01Speaker 6: How many women on the Condaleza Rice is a member there?
- 9:03Speaker 4: Oh wow? Four?
- 9:05Speaker 6: Yeah, oh no, maybe ten years ago, okay or more
- 9:08Speaker 6: maybe it's it might be.
- 9:10Speaker 10: More, but it was news when she became a member,
- 9:13Speaker 10: because yeah right.
- 9:15Speaker 4: And I just watched a Rory documentary about the Last
- 9:18Speaker 4: Night Yours Big Win exactly.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Who was like, wow, that's like from the past. That ring,
- 9:24Speaker 2: that ring, You don't hear that anymore?
- 9:26Speaker 5: Oh sadly, that's my ring tone. That was not my phone,
- 9:29Speaker 5: but that's my ringtime.
- 9:30Speaker 4: And I got that.
- 9:30Speaker 6: I got made fun of it.
- 9:31Speaker 10: Did you really, old man? Well you want to hear it,
- 9:35Speaker 10: damn it. When you're in the other room, I hear it.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I know exactly.
- 9:39Speaker 3: He understands I.
- 9:40Speaker 6: Even put busy signals on my phone?
- 9:42Speaker 4: Did you really?
- 9:43Speaker 6: For old wow?
- 9:45Speaker 3: You should add a little aol die up dial up
- 9:47Speaker 3: sound just to exactly you know, It's.
- 9:51Speaker 4: One thing that used to happen way more was customizable
- 9:54Speaker 4: like ring tones. Right, and then I guess we just
- 9:57Speaker 4: lost the joy in creativity and being are I don't know.
- 10:02Speaker 4: I don't know why we just stopped doing that basically.
- 10:05Speaker 2: As because now we do it with the voices of
- 10:07Speaker 2: our AI assistance.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Right you're Australian.
- 10:09Speaker 4: But yeah, but that's not a phone ringing.
- 10:12Speaker 2: No, but I mean that's I guess where the creativity
- 10:15Speaker 2: has just moved over to. It's not enough to do
- 10:17Speaker 2: the phone ring you want to customize the voice that
- 10:19Speaker 2: says all right, I'll call.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Steay, but change my darn phone every single time I
- 10:24Speaker 5: you know that a new update and all of a
- 10:25Speaker 5: sudden everything's on the opposite side of the screen or
- 10:28Speaker 5: the bottom of the screen, and.
- 10:30Speaker 4: I got to go through ten hoops. Keep I guess
- 10:33Speaker 4: there has to be some weird consumer like psychology reason why.
- 10:37Speaker 3: I'm sure, yep, lessons there are as.
- 10:41Speaker 4: A lessons, so we have to keep buying new stuff.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Well, listen along with having the Fabulous Bob Friday or
- 10:49Speaker 2: Bob Friday we again, Yeah, yeah, yep, you can tell
- 10:52Speaker 2: us the end of the week, Jesus. But along with
- 10:56Speaker 2: the fabulous Bob Fryer, we're going to have our usual
- 10:58Speaker 2: Friday fun. We're going to do so or sale Jack
- 11:01Speaker 2: offering up a little yacht rock offering to see if
- 11:04Speaker 2: we agree with the not I do as well.
- 11:05Speaker 4: That was awesome. Shout out to the listeners who heard that.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Jimmy may not be here, but he'll still have a
- 11:11Speaker 2: cigar to recommend during Embers only from a Corona cigar company.
- 11:15Speaker 2: We're going to talk to Fayaz Kara, the restaurant critic
- 11:18Speaker 2: for The Orlando Weekly, and find out his latest reviews
- 11:21Speaker 2: for restaurants here in central Florida.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Five o'clock. How it's going to be really interesting.
- 11:25Speaker 2: We're going to be talking to Chris Patton, who works
- 11:28Speaker 2: with Seminole County government. They have some citizens Academies coming
- 11:31Speaker 2: up that's going to offer residents a chance to take
- 11:34Speaker 2: a sneak peek behind your local government and see everything
- 11:37Speaker 2: that's done. A really important conversation since we're seriously talking
- 11:41Speaker 2: about cutting property taxes. Okay, right, Also we're going to
- 11:45Speaker 2: have some post to home, Yeah, exactly, very close to home.
- 11:48Speaker 2: We're going to have a trivia courtesy of Brad. We're
- 11:50Speaker 2: going to get some ross thoughts at six o'clock, wrap
- 11:53Speaker 2: it up with if you heard it here first and more.
- 11:55Speaker 2: What we're going to do right now is take a
- 11:56Speaker 2: little break. When we come back, we're going to talk
- 11:59Speaker 2: about how one space expert warns re entry is the
- 12:02Speaker 2: most dangerous part of the Moon mission. Closer to home
- 12:05Speaker 2: and Orange County business is closing after eighty years, and
- 12:10Speaker 2: when swat shouldn't swipe right.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Or left high like that. We'll talk about.
- 12:16Speaker 2: That and more coming up next during JCS News. You
- 12:19Speaker 2: keep it right here on Real Radio.
- 12:21Speaker 3: One of four point one today is Mo Beta.
- 12:24Speaker 1: With Ross Paget sponsored by Joscolmo Orlando's injury attorneys.
- 12:33Speaker 4: In COVID Cruise.
- 12:35Speaker 3: It's early and Bob.
- 12:39Speaker 11: Any ugents Today we raise beer to national golfers to
- 12:43Speaker 11: day now I did.
- 12:45Speaker 7: Here's some unfortunate news.
- 12:47Speaker 11: There was a shooting and a golf course, but it.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Only led to a hole in one in three handicaps.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Have a good show, you, oh dear oh man, Ross,
- 12:59Speaker 2: I hope you say that for your son.
- 13:00Speaker 3: That is an ultimate golfing dad joke.
- 13:02Speaker 5: And it was morbid and dark and very and you
- 13:06Speaker 5: dreamed it would be and more.
- 13:08Speaker 6: And I dig that.
- 13:09Speaker 4: And I think a joke that only works here in
- 13:12Speaker 4: the States probably doesn't translate. Well.
- 13:15Speaker 2: No, welcome back to the Jim Culbert Show. Jim, we'll
- 13:18Speaker 2: be back with us on Monday. You've got deb Jack

- 13:40Speaker 2: and records your best thirty seconds and Jack will do
- 13:43Speaker 2: his best to turn you into a radio superstars. No promises,
- 13:48Speaker 2: no promises, especially on a Friday. All right, let's do
- 13:51Speaker 2: some JCS news.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Good time for JCS news. Wow, this guy gotta put
- 13:58Speaker 1: his name on everything they Contractedrew's the news on the
- 14:02Speaker 1: Jim Colberg Show.
- 14:03Speaker 2: All right, JACS news is brought to you by that
- 14:06Speaker 2: mortgage guy. Don give him a listen tomorrow morning when
- 14:08Speaker 2: he's host of the Home Loans radio show. The Artemist
- 14:12Speaker 2: two Moon mission is coming to a close, with the
- 14:14Speaker 2: Orion space capsules splashing down in the Pacific tonight. Astronomer
- 14:19Speaker 2: Mark Bennett is thrilled America is going back to the
- 14:21Speaker 2: Moon and is pleased with NASA's latest mission.
- 14:25Speaker 9: Total success, totally spectacular. The images were just mind blowing.
- 14:30Speaker 9: These are the first times that we've had these pictures
- 14:33Speaker 9: of the dark side of the Moon taken by human eyes.
- 14:36Speaker 2: NASA's Artemis two space capsule, with four astronauts on board,
- 14:39Speaker 2: is set to re enter the Earth's atmosphere at a
- 14:42Speaker 2: tender twenty five thousand miles per hour. Bennett calls re
- 14:46Speaker 2: entry the most dangerous part of the entire mission, aside
- 14:48Speaker 2: from takeoff. The good news as they're not expecting any
- 14:51Speaker 2: precipitation within thirty five miles of the splashdown area. Winds
- 14:56Speaker 2: are not expected to be above twenty nine miles an hour,
- 14:58Speaker 2: and waves are also not expected to be above six feet,
- 15:01Speaker 2: So these are the ideal conditions they're going to need
- 15:04Speaker 2: in order to continue with the splash down off the
- 15:06Speaker 2: coast of San Diego. Which will take place about eight
- 15:08Speaker 2: oh seven tonight Eastern Standard time.
- 15:11Speaker 6: Gonna say, it's San Diego.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Have you ever been there? I at least to live there. Well,
- 15:13Speaker 4: it was always perfect, I know, yeah.
- 15:15Speaker 3: I know, I lived in Tory Pines.
- 15:17Speaker 2: You may have heard of no round there, Yes, sir,
- 15:19Speaker 2: oh lucky dogs.
- 15:22Speaker 6: And I don't go National Golfer's Day, which I don't
- 15:24Speaker 6: really think.
- 15:25Speaker 4: It is, but there is it? Yeah? Is it today?
- 15:28Speaker 4: I don't know, I don't know.
- 15:29Speaker 6: Yes it is, it is?
- 15:30Speaker 3: Is it really?
- 15:30Speaker 4: Sure?
- 15:31Speaker 9: All right?
- 15:32Speaker 3: He's very convincing, and he is so convincing.
- 15:36Speaker 4: If it's not, by golly, we'll make it, all right.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Florida gas prices continue their gradual sly. Triple A reports
- 15:44Speaker 2: the state wide average is now four to oh nine
- 15:47Speaker 2: a gallon. That's down three cents from yesterday and thirteen
- 15:50Speaker 2: cents lower than a week ago. Still, drivers are paying
- 15:53Speaker 2: about forty six cents more than they were this time
- 15:55Speaker 2: last month, diesel in Florida averaging five seventy three, while
- 15:59Speaker 2: the national gas price have dipped to.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Four fifteen a gallon.
- 16:03Speaker 2: All right, here's some good news that we rarely ever hear,
- 16:06Speaker 2: but Florida citrus growers are seeing a small but positive boost,
- 16:11Speaker 2: and the latest USDA forecast, all right, yeah, that's yeah.
- 16:15Speaker 2: The outlook release Thursday shows modest production increases this season
- 16:19Speaker 2: for oranges, grapefruit, lemons, and specialty fruits like tangerines and tangalous.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Despite those gains, though, overall citrus production remains near historic lows,
- 16:28Speaker 2: with oranges and grapefruits still below last season's levels. Still though,
- 16:32Speaker 2: with a couple of massive friezes that we had that
- 16:34Speaker 2: took out so much fruit from local farms, it's good
- 16:37Speaker 2: to hear the forecast not reflecting what the friezes did,
- 16:41Speaker 2: you know, but instead a little bit of a little
- 16:43Speaker 2: bit of a gain.
- 16:44Speaker 4: I hate to sound exactly like Jim, but that freeze
- 16:47Speaker 4: just ripped up my backyard totally.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Everybody's yeah, so everybody.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Yeah, everyone has had to replace almost all of their landscaping.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Industry leaders say recovery will take time, but new tools
- 16:57Speaker 2: to fight citrus greening could help rows gradually rebuild statewide.
- 17:03Speaker 2: All right, A woman is now facing charges for a
- 17:05Speaker 2: deadly hit and run in Lake County. Mascot Police announced
- 17:09Speaker 2: Mackenzie Lee Kotrell was arrested for that crash last month.
- 17:13Speaker 2: That killed Just Stop Tires employee Ashley tire Yea. The
- 17:18Speaker 2: MPD says Coachrell was a passenger in the car driven
- 17:21Speaker 2: by I believe it's her boyfriend Brandon Lewis, when he
- 17:24Speaker 2: hit tire while she was trying to stop him from
- 17:26Speaker 2: leaving the shop without paying for his tires. She's now charged, yeah,
- 17:31Speaker 2: with accessory after the fact in relation to vehicular homicide.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Investigators say her actions hindered or obstructed the investigation and
- 17:38Speaker 2: reflected a serious disregard.
- 17:41Speaker 3: For human life.
- 17:42Speaker 2: And again, the bill was ninety five dollars. And now
- 17:45Speaker 2: they're looking at killed the mom, Yeah, exactly because they
- 17:49Speaker 2: didn't want to pay ninety five dollars. They're on camera,
- 17:52Speaker 2: they have their tag, there's no way they're going to
- 17:54Speaker 2: get anywhere. But they still made this choice that took
- 17:56Speaker 2: a mother's life and will end them up behind bars
- 17:59Speaker 2: for decade.
- 18:00Speaker 6: What did she do post accident that hindered the whole thing?
- 18:03Speaker 2: You know that we don't know, like held up where
- 18:06Speaker 2: he was because he was on the run for a
- 18:08Speaker 2: while before they found him.
- 18:10Speaker 3: I know, I know, I.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Feel like this is an appropriate time. I remember doing
- 18:15Speaker 4: research years ago, is that the strongest correlation between crime,
- 18:20Speaker 4: and the strongest correlation between crime is money. Being poor.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Oh yeah, poor people cause more crimes.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, especially if they have an addiction
- 18:33Speaker 2: issue as well.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Yeah, all right.
- 18:34Speaker 2: A three and a half year old boy is in
- 18:36Speaker 2: stable condition after shooting himself in the chest.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Thursday Appointsianna.
- 18:41Speaker 6: The child unintentionally shot himself once in the chest. By
- 18:45Speaker 6: the mere grace of God, he's not severely injured.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Oscila County Sheriff Christopher Blackman says, the boys in stable
- 18:52Speaker 2: condition expected to fully recover.
- 18:54Speaker 6: Right, how is he not severely He's not severely injured.
- 18:57Speaker 2: He is severely injured, but he's still he's still in
- 19:00Speaker 2: stable condition and he's alive, which is what the sheriff says.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Too often these stories end with just wow, just tragedy.
- 19:06Speaker 6: Probably really bad.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Aim.
- 19:09Speaker 6: I mean, he's only three.
- 19:10Speaker 3: He says.
- 19:11Speaker 2: The gun was not only was it not secured, but
- 19:13Speaker 2: several other kids were.
- 19:15Speaker 3: At home at the time.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Now, if you do not know, allowing a child to
- 19:19Speaker 2: access a firearm is a misdemeanor.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Let's find the grown up in this.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Story exactly, and the parents could face charges. Less says,
- 19:27Speaker 2: a child's life is definitely worth the cost of a gunlock,
- 19:30Speaker 2: which costs as little as five dollars.
- 19:34Speaker 1: All right.
- 19:34Speaker 2: An Orange County student is accused of bringing a gun
- 19:36Speaker 2: to school. Or Landa police arrested seventeen year old Joshua
- 19:39Speaker 2: Brown yesterday at Doctor Phillips High School. The OPD says
- 19:42Speaker 2: the gun was found in Brown's backpack after the sro
- 19:45Speaker 2: acted on a tip. He's facing charges that include possession
- 19:49Speaker 2: of a firearm on school property. But again OPD is saying,
- 19:52Speaker 2: you know, thanks to a concerned member of the community,
- 19:54Speaker 2: whether it was a student, a teacher, somebody saw something,
- 19:57Speaker 2: they said something, and this boy was an able if
- 20:00Speaker 2: he was planning to wasn't able to use the weapon.
- 20:02Speaker 5: May as being a parent, but I always think back
- 20:04Speaker 5: on whether the parent's thinking at that point, and then
- 20:07Speaker 5: you're like, like, the worst thing that could happen to
- 20:08Speaker 5: me is one of my kids winds up in jail.
- 20:11Speaker 4: A for them being in jail. But me now I'm
- 20:14Speaker 4: basically in jail.
- 20:14Speaker 6: I can't wait.
- 20:15Speaker 5: I'm always going to have to go and visit. I'm
- 20:17Speaker 5: always gonna have to be in this town. I can't
- 20:19Speaker 5: leave anywhere. I'm there in jail. You know what, I mean,
- 20:21Speaker 5: and then my soul is gone. My soul is in
- 20:24Speaker 5: jail with my child, you.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Know what I mean?
- 20:26Speaker 6: So what was this kid thinking bringing a gun?
- 20:28Speaker 3: You know, I know, to go talk to him.
- 20:31Speaker 4: I loved it. And it's not even maybe he had
- 20:34Speaker 4: bad intentions. It was also just accidents and firearms happened
- 20:40Speaker 4: all the time, all the time, and so good on
- 20:44Speaker 4: calling the right peeps.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Exactly, exactly, all right, this is kind of sad it happens.
- 20:50Speaker 6: This is the child shot in the chest and a woman.
- 20:54Speaker 4: None of that that was sad.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I'm just happy that the child survived, because too often,
- 20:59Speaker 2: too often it ends with well, I didn't know the
- 21:01Speaker 2: gun was out.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I don't know the child could get over.
- 21:05Speaker 6: Recovery was an unsurprising.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a miracle.
- 21:09Speaker 2: So, after eighty years, one Orange County business is closing
- 21:12Speaker 2: for good. If you've ever shopped at Miller's Hardware and
- 21:15Speaker 2: Winter Park, so they've announced that it's holding a going
- 21:18Speaker 2: out of business sale. The store has been in the
- 21:20Speaker 2: Miller family for three generations, but the current owner wants
- 21:24Speaker 2: to retire and has no one to pass the business
- 21:27Speaker 2: down to. You hear that happening so often? Exactly all right, Bob.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Manager Bob Canfield has worked at Miller's for almost twenty years,
- 21:38Speaker 2: and he says he put a lot of heart and
- 21:40Speaker 2: soul into the store. He tells Spectrum News thirteen, He's
- 21:43Speaker 2: sorry it's got to end, but it has to end
- 21:45Speaker 2: at some time, right.
- 21:47Speaker 4: I got some good deals going on now. I bet
- 21:49Speaker 4: they do. I bet they do.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I just have a weakness for ace hardware stores, the Miller's.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I just do that neighborhood hardware.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Yeah, I just like, I just like going into those stories.
- 22:02Speaker 3: I just general I know, you to fun.
- 22:05Speaker 4: They make me break out in hives and I get
- 22:07Speaker 4: tons of anxiety they do. Why dose you have a
- 22:11Speaker 4: do it yourself fear?
- 22:13Speaker 6: Yeah, he lacks that gene.
- 22:15Speaker 4: It's the same thing with grocery stores. I'm just like,
- 22:18Speaker 4: there's so much stuff. Yeah, he gets weirded up.
- 22:20Speaker 5: I'm gonna buy you a tool belt, just you know,
- 22:22Speaker 5: do you look the part, then you'll act the part.
- 22:24Speaker 6: You know.
- 22:25Speaker 10: You know who had such a fondness for hardware stores,
- 22:28Speaker 10: bought one that was going out of business and kind
- 22:30Speaker 10: of incorporated into his home.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Oh you're gonna be sorry that you asked this question,
- 22:34Speaker 2: mister Fryer.
- 22:35Speaker 10: She's setting you up wrongly, incorrectly. This is true story.
- 22:39Speaker 10: He's no longer with us. But Alex Trebek, he did
- 22:43Speaker 10: that's right. Yeah, Love, I had an affinity for hardware stores.
- 22:47Speaker 10: Bought one, and I don't know, you know, kind of.
- 22:50Speaker 6: He bought a hardware store.
- 22:51Speaker 2: He did the contents of one, Like his house was
- 22:54Speaker 2: full of nuts and bolts and nails and screws and
- 22:56Speaker 2: all kinds of stuff you'd get at.
- 22:58Speaker 3: A hardware store.
- 22:59Speaker 4: Wow.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Yeah, he just had a real affinity for him.
- 23:01Speaker 10: I get narry a clue, see that, despite Devor's proclipation,
- 23:04Speaker 10: I'm not always you know, telling a tall tale.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Yeah, but guess whose fault that is?
- 23:09Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you, Ross.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Web of flies, webble flies. Let me sit on.
- 23:14Speaker 10: They'll make me cursey because he'll do it.
- 23:18Speaker 4: We've heard he will do it absolutely And with him
- 23:20Speaker 4: going out of business and he's retiring, I always feel
- 23:23Speaker 4: like like complex feelings when I hear that, because you
- 23:28Speaker 4: you always want what they want, right, but you also
- 23:31Speaker 4: want the business. I have never stepped foot in this
- 23:34Speaker 4: guy's store before, But I'm also like, no, keep it going.
- 23:37Speaker 10: But this is why you can even avoid the big
- 23:40Speaker 10: box stores. But go to an independent like uh, let's
- 23:43Speaker 10: say a tool's Ace Hardware, because they are they pick
- 23:47Speaker 10: up where the box stores fail.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Yes they do.
- 23:50Speaker 10: They have individuals who are looking forward to helping you
- 23:53Speaker 10: find what you need.
- 23:54Speaker 6: So and you can ask him anything and they'll get
- 23:57Speaker 6: you there.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Well, good luck making it through those little displays they
- 24:01Speaker 2: have on your way to the register.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Oh you have not there. You had no idea you
- 24:09Speaker 3: needed spices. Oh you had no idea you needed before you.
- 24:13Speaker 4: Know, shoehornshorns.
- 24:20Speaker 3: There's a flass from the past.
- 24:21Speaker 6: To sun block.
- 24:25Speaker 10: And cheap wine in a dark bottle with a cork.
- 24:28Speaker 3: That can be heat sealed.
- 24:29Speaker 4: All right.
- 24:31Speaker 2: An invention by a Seminole County student is a money
- 24:34Speaker 2: saver for the county.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Yay, yeah absolutely.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Lake Mary High School sophomore Ethan Siggle used a three
- 24:40Speaker 2: D printer to make a device the county elections office
- 24:44Speaker 2: can use in their ballot printing machines. This is pretty cool.
- 24:47Speaker 2: It's a clip that holds paper ballot ballot paper together.
- 24:51Speaker 2: But the vendor doesn't sell it as a standalone part,
- 24:55Speaker 2: so when it breaks, the only option the county has
- 24:58Speaker 2: was to buy a.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Whole new center drawer.
- 25:01Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, that.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Only costs one hundred and twenty five dollars.
- 25:04Speaker 6: You don't have to do that anymore.
- 25:05Speaker 12: So.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Election supervisor Amy Pennock turned to Lake Mary High School's
- 25:09Speaker 2: manufacturing programmed to for help, and that inspired the young
- 25:12Speaker 2: students to make that part that just costs how much
- 25:14Speaker 2: do you think?
- 25:15Speaker 4: Five bucks, two thirty cents, seven.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Fifty fifteen dollars points jezz Okay.
- 25:24Speaker 2: He visited the elections office this week to see how
- 25:27Speaker 2: it'll be used there you go to support elections operations,
- 25:31Speaker 2: he tells New six.
- 25:32Speaker 3: It feels amazing to know he made an impact.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Yeah, and the reps for the printing company is like,
- 25:38Speaker 4: oh crap, oh yeah, thanks exactly. They're on to us.
- 25:41Speaker 4: We make faulty things that break and they need to
- 25:43Speaker 4: buy stuff to fix it.
- 25:45Speaker 6: D in this public education. Yeah, let's make this a
- 25:47Speaker 6: national story.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there we go. Yeah, absolutely, all right.
- 25:51Speaker 2: I bring you this story because of course we know,
- 25:53Speaker 2: you know, the Jacksonville Jaguars come in here to play
- 25:56Speaker 2: their season football in twenty twenty seven.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Well, they're going to be awesome.
- 25:59Speaker 2: It is while their stadium is being worked on, well,
- 26:01Speaker 2: building a new stadium for the Tampa Bay Rays could
- 26:04Speaker 2: come at the expense of other teams in Hillsboro County.
- 26:08Speaker 2: The Tampa Bay Times reported yesterday a county official told
- 26:11Speaker 2: county commissioners a new stadium would require significant funds set
- 26:15Speaker 2: aside for Benchmark International Arena and Steinbrenner Field. Now, Benchmark
- 26:20Speaker 2: is where the Tampa Bay Lightning play, and of course
- 26:23Speaker 2: Steinbrenner is where.
- 26:24Speaker 3: The Yankees play in spring training.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and County administrator Bonnie Wise also told commissioners funding
- 26:30Speaker 2: could come from excess Community Investment Tax collections. The CIT
- 26:35Speaker 2: is a half cent sales tax meant to fund existing
- 26:38Speaker 2: sports stadiums. Meanwhile, the Rays released a memorandum of understanding
- 26:41Speaker 2: yesterday that outlines how the stadium can be paid for
- 26:45Speaker 2: without any new taxes.
- 26:46Speaker 10: You know, if they did that gave the Raise a
- 26:48Speaker 10: new stadium when they first asked for it, it probably would
- 26:50Speaker 10: have cost half as.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Much, half as much be built already.
- 26:54Speaker 10: It might have been fifteen twenty years ago.
- 26:55Speaker 3: And it's interesting.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Mike Bonkey, of course, from our sister station ninety six
- 27:00Speaker 2: in the game. He he wrote a very interesting article
- 27:03Speaker 2: earlier this week about how with the Jaggs coming to Orlando,
- 27:06Speaker 2: a jealous.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Tampa Bay is finally starting to pay attention.
- 27:09Speaker 4: There you go.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, another one last sporting event. Note, there
- 27:13Speaker 2: is going to be a VIP at an upcoming UFC
- 27:16Speaker 2: event in Miami. President I don't know, but President Trump
- 27:21Speaker 2: is expected to attend UFC three twenty seven tomorrow night
- 27:24Speaker 2: at the Cassea Center. Trump attended another UFC event there
- 27:28Speaker 2: last year. He was the first sitting president to attend
- 27:31Speaker 2: a UFC event. Oh all right, this next sound might
- 27:34Speaker 2: be a little bit loud. You might want to pot
- 27:36Speaker 2: this one down, but I didn't want to spoil the
- 27:38Speaker 2: fun and have a little bit of celebration, you guys,
- 27:41Speaker 2: because the word is in.
- 27:47Speaker 3: That's right.
- 27:48Speaker 2: The wedding date for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey has
- 27:52Speaker 2: reportedly been confirm.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Oh that's my wedding day.
- 28:01Speaker 4: It's her wedding day.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Then you do not want to compete with that one.
- 28:05Speaker 3: No, she can take it, man, because she can afford it.
- 28:07Speaker 2: The New York Post reports the wedding will take place
- 28:10Speaker 2: and the Big Apple on July third. Now, the Post
- 28:14Speaker 2: says save the date notices have been sent out. The
- 28:17Speaker 2: couple was reportedly looking at tying the not in Rhode Island,
- 28:21Speaker 2: where Swift owns a large estate right next to a hotel.
- 28:24Speaker 2: I thought she owned it, But the post says they
- 28:27Speaker 2: scrapped that idea and wanted to go quote all out,
- 28:30Speaker 2: end quote for a fourth of July weekend events.
- 28:34Speaker 10: We are going to celebrate here on real radio. We
- 28:36Speaker 10: are going to do on July third. Let's how about
- 28:40Speaker 10: all three shows will do a live broadcast.
- 28:43Speaker 6: Let's pick a place.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Like Mount Dora. Okay, okay, we'll do that.
- 28:46Speaker 10: We'll go, you know, freedom on the waterfront. And congratulations
- 28:51Speaker 10: Taylor and Chen.
- 28:53Speaker 2: And what's the name tru I mean if you want to,
- 28:56Speaker 2: you know, incorporate Chris and debbron there, Well, we'd be
- 28:59Speaker 2: right with it.
- 29:00Speaker 6: Find us a little slot someplace exactly you know what.
- 29:03Speaker 10: She didn't pick the same day you then then you
- 29:06Speaker 10: go publicly say Taylor, why, And then she says, I'll
- 29:08Speaker 10: pay for your wedding.
- 29:09Speaker 4: I know this is our royal. You should move your
- 29:13Speaker 4: wedding more.
- 29:14Speaker 3: This is a royal wedding. To have any idea what
- 29:16Speaker 3: you are asking?
- 29:18Speaker 10: Yeah, how much more time do you get?
- 29:21Speaker 3: And then in Florida in July, No.
- 29:24Speaker 4: In fact, I like our royal wedding even more than
- 29:27Speaker 4: the royal wedding, and the one reason at least our,
- 29:29Speaker 4: you know, Royalty, they did something. He's a tight end,
- 29:32Speaker 4: you know, like he's pretty good. Super Bowl winner, Taylor
- 29:36Speaker 4: Hall of Famer, you know, music hall of Famer.
- 29:38Speaker 2: And then finally, a California swat deputy is under investigation
- 29:43Speaker 2: for scrolling on what appeared to be a dating app
- 29:46Speaker 2: during a standoff with an armed suspect.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Would be bad.
- 29:54Speaker 2: It happened on Wednesday after a police chase ended in
- 29:57Speaker 2: a crash in a Jarupa Valle. The suspect was later
- 30:01Speaker 2: pronounced dead and appears to have committed suicide, but aerial
- 30:04Speaker 2: footage showed the deputy scrolling through his phone while taking
- 30:07Speaker 2: cover behind an armored vehicle.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Just wow, just feet from the suspects car.
- 30:13Speaker 5: I know everybody is fairly addicted to their phones, but
- 30:17Speaker 5: my goodness, diving for cover.
- 30:20Speaker 6: That's swiping.
- 30:21Speaker 10: Oh match, I don't mind, I don't mind it. You
- 30:25Speaker 10: don't if he's that calm, he's being shot at and
- 30:28Speaker 10: he's like whatever, I'll just wait this one out.
- 30:31Speaker 7: Well.
- 30:32Speaker 3: The Riverside County Sheriff.
- 30:34Speaker 2: The Riverside County Sheriff's Department says the deputy's actions do
- 30:38Speaker 2: not reflect as standards, expectations, or policies.
- 30:42Speaker 5: That would be a nice opening line, though, you know
- 30:44Speaker 5: what are you looking forward to?
- 30:45Speaker 4: Not dying in this suit?
- 30:47Speaker 3: Exactly?
- 30:48Speaker 2: You were so hot that I looked at you while
- 30:50Speaker 2: I was in the middle of a standoff.
- 30:52Speaker 4: How horny do you have to be?
- 30:55Speaker 6: What's the highest score?
- 30:59Speaker 10: Bullets are flying by and you just like I got
- 31:02Speaker 10: guess what I'm doing right now? Like, imagine looking at
- 31:05Speaker 10: tender profiles as bullets are fine.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Exactly, I'm imagining it. Hang on, take me take me there.

- 33:38Speaker 7: Oh, that's going good. A lot of good eating. Yeah,
- 33:40Speaker 7: as always, as always, all right, well, a lot of
- 33:44Speaker 7: good eating.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Well, torture us with your latest reviews. What do you
- 33:47Speaker 3: have up first for us today? The latest review?
- 33:49Speaker 7: Okay, So this week's review was a place called the
- 33:51Speaker 7: good Way Cafe, and it's a it's in Longwood. It's
- 33:55Speaker 7: a fairly pedestrian sounding name, but this place is unique
- 33:58Speaker 7: in that it is a French vegan cafe. Inside the
- 34:03Speaker 7: inside the Magnolia Yoga and Wellness Center that's right there
- 34:07Speaker 7: in historic Longwood. And you know a friend of mine
- 34:10Speaker 7: who teaches yoga there. She's been trying to get me
- 34:12Speaker 7: to come out and try this cafe for months and
- 34:15Speaker 7: and I'm glad, I you know, I finally did, because
- 34:17Speaker 7: when you walk in, you know, it's, you know, you're
- 34:19Speaker 7: immediately enveloped in this sense of calm. And then I,
- 34:23Speaker 7: you know, I went and did the yoga Nidra class,
- 34:26Speaker 7: and Yoga Nidra, you spent all of it in the
- 34:28Speaker 7: corpse post. It's you're all you're in a deep state
- 34:31Speaker 7: of rest. So pretty much anybody can do this. And
- 34:34Speaker 7: when I, you know, when I arose, I arose focused
- 34:37Speaker 7: and reinvigorated and of course hungry. So she led me
- 34:41Speaker 7: into the cafe where I, you know, to use a
- 34:44Speaker 7: yoga term, I mouthward facing pigged the soup and the
- 34:53Speaker 7: soup djour this week, on this particular day was a
- 34:56Speaker 7: was a potato soup. It had like mushrooms, celery, garlic, onion.
- 35:00Speaker 7: It was topped with croutons and there and if you're
- 35:02Speaker 7: watching on the on the YouTube channel on the Real
- 35:05Speaker 7: Radio YouTube channel, you can see a picture of it there.
- 35:07Speaker 7: Again it's like all plant based, it's all being it
- 35:10Speaker 7: was it was, it was really outstanding. And the chef,
- 35:13Speaker 7: the chef there, her name is Ammon Dean Vibert and
- 35:16Speaker 7: she's from Bordeaux. She's been classically trained in Sanchrope and France.
- 35:21Speaker 7: And when I say France, I mean France at the
- 35:24Speaker 7: France pavilion at Epcot Point is though knows she you
- 35:30Speaker 7: know that that classical training shows and she creates something
- 35:33Speaker 7: called the Gallet Breton and the gallic Gallet Breton and
- 35:37Speaker 7: there's again there's a picture of it there for those
- 35:39Speaker 7: watching on YouTube. It's it's essentially it's a savory buckwheat
- 35:42Speaker 7: crape done in the Britney style, Brittany being a you know,
- 35:45Speaker 7: an area of northwest France. And it's stuff with like
- 35:48Speaker 7: bosmath the rice and sweet potatoes and roasted zucchini. There's chickpeas,
- 35:54Speaker 7: there's red onions, and she serves it with the sauce.
- 35:57Speaker 7: It's a it's a sauce that she makes from dijon
- 35:59Speaker 7: mo stirt. There's a little bit of olive oil, some
- 36:01Speaker 7: lime and some cilantro in there and it gives it
- 36:04Speaker 7: that you know, it gives it that punch, that kick, right,
- 36:06Speaker 7: and you can have that in a in a rice
- 36:09Speaker 7: bowl form as well. There's also there's also the if
- 36:15Speaker 7: you continue, Jack, there's a there's a photo there of
- 36:18Speaker 7: the of the chickpea curry keiche and it's a it's
- 36:24Speaker 7: a crustless keiche, which you know, which is wasn't aware
- 36:27Speaker 7: of because it doesn't say that on the menu, and
- 36:29Speaker 7: she's contemplating actually putting that word on the menu. But
- 36:31Speaker 7: it's a crustless keiche and a pastry hoard that I am.
- 36:35Speaker 7: You know, I'd always prefer pastry on everything. So but nevertheless,
- 36:39Speaker 7: this was also very good. The flavors in this, you know,
- 36:41Speaker 7: she's delving a little deeper. She does like a great
- 36:43Speaker 7: rice like in the previous photo that she does a
- 36:45Speaker 7: great rice inside that gallet. So she does a little
- 36:49Speaker 7: deeper in sort of Indian cookery with these flavors.
- 36:52Speaker 3: So great rice, what does that exactly?
- 36:55Speaker 7: Well, you know, cooking rice, you know people just think, oh,
- 36:57Speaker 7: you know, put in a box. No, no, it's got
- 36:59Speaker 7: to be fluff. And then when you're doing bosmidy rice,
- 37:02Speaker 7: you want it to be you want those grains to
- 37:04Speaker 7: be separated. You want it to be a little fluffy,
- 37:06Speaker 7: a little you don't want it to be dry, you know,
- 37:09Speaker 7: you don't want to be clumpy. So, you know, doing
- 37:11Speaker 7: good rice is sort of, you know, a technical achievement
- 37:15Speaker 7: when you.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Can there's a trick to it.
- 37:17Speaker 7: There's a trick to it. So with the Chickpa Curry Key,
- 37:19Speaker 7: she delves a little deeper into the sort of the
- 37:21Speaker 7: Indian flavors, you know, and it's and it's also it's
- 37:24Speaker 7: also really really good.
- 37:26Speaker 4: You know.
- 37:26Speaker 7: She makes a baguette a bag with roasted egg plants.
- 37:29Speaker 7: There's also eggplants of rugula, red onions, very simple. She's
- 37:32Speaker 7: using Old Heart as a local baker. She's also considering
- 37:36Speaker 7: using you know, one of my favorite bakeries in town,
- 37:39Speaker 7: Jador for her bread. But but you know, she does
- 37:43Speaker 7: also croissants and you'll see she does vegan croissants. But
- 37:46Speaker 7: she's getting that from a place out in Tampa called
- 37:49Speaker 7: got It's Something Cat Bakery. I can't remember what the
- 37:54Speaker 7: exact name is. That's it's the I think it's the
- 37:58Speaker 7: Something Cat, the Something Cat Bake realit in Tampas where
- 38:00Speaker 7: she's getting it from Cinnamon. Yeah, they will text us
- 38:05Speaker 7: or you can just read my review. I put it
- 38:07Speaker 7: in there. It's just my you know, my memory shut.
- 38:09Speaker 7: Curious cat, curious cat, that's it?
- 38:12Speaker 6: Hey, is that right?
- 38:14Speaker 4: It is nice?
- 38:16Speaker 7: Yeah, there's a picture. There's a photo there of the
- 38:20Speaker 7: cinnamon twist class on which she's getting from there.
- 38:22Speaker 6: Anyway, it looks like a dog. That's the way to
- 38:26Speaker 6: sell it.
- 38:28Speaker 7: Yeah, Jack, thanks, But when you say to pilot dog
- 38:31Speaker 7: poo in French, it sounds very very deluxful, you know what.
- 38:38Speaker 7: You know what what ber ver Beer has done really
- 38:41Speaker 7: really well for herself here and I think after a
- 38:43Speaker 7: meal here you will too highly recommend it. Check it out.
- 38:46Speaker 7: It's it's an it's a plant based cafe with a
- 38:49Speaker 7: French twist. Do some yoga. I think you pay like
- 38:52Speaker 7: ten bucks, do a yoga session and then go to
- 38:55Speaker 7: this cafe. And there's a photo there of the one
- 38:57Speaker 7: of the instructors on the left and then the chef
- 39:00Speaker 7: can bear on the right.
- 39:01Speaker 6: But I think you're right, I think about it.
- 39:02Speaker 5: I think the name of it doesn't sort of belies
- 39:04Speaker 5: what the what the style of food is, you know
- 39:06Speaker 5: what I mean?
- 39:07Speaker 4: The name of the cafe?
- 39:09Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, for sure, Hey, is what was that the
- 39:12Speaker 10: type of yoga again.
- 39:14Speaker 7: It's called yoga nidra n I d r A. And
- 39:17Speaker 7: you spend it. You spend it in corpse pose, and
- 39:20Speaker 7: you know, the instructor kind of runs you over some
- 39:22Speaker 7: sounds and and and visualizations over you know, your your
- 39:27Speaker 7: own body. Essentially, you're getting to getting in touch with
- 39:30Speaker 7: your own body.
- 39:30Speaker 6: So you're lying. You don't have the lying down. This
- 39:34Speaker 6: is my yoga. Let's hear it.
- 39:36Speaker 3: No downward dog here.
- 39:37Speaker 6: Yeah, it's not auto accident corpse pods.
- 39:40Speaker 4: You know.
- 39:40Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, it's not third round the twister pose.
- 39:45Speaker 4: That's how Jack feels alive and refreshes himself as by
- 39:49Speaker 4: acting like a quartse.
- 39:51Speaker 7: And it's done in a nice air conditioned room. It's
- 39:53Speaker 7: it's not a one hundred and fifty degrees.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Nice So what else do you happen for us?
- 40:00Speaker 7: What else? Okay? So what else? We got some some openings.
- 40:02Speaker 7: We got Holy City Zoo barbecue again in Longwood, you
- 40:05Speaker 7: know a Longwood there's I think Longwood's having a bit
- 40:07Speaker 7: of a moment. So again, yeah, renaissls in. I think
- 40:12Speaker 7: it's on one ninety South Ronald Reagan Road. It's right
- 40:15Speaker 7: before four thirty four and it's called Holy City Zoo
- 40:19Speaker 7: Barbecue and it's a couple of out of Chicago. Their
- 40:21Speaker 7: names are Greg and Christina Gardbo, and you know they're
- 40:24Speaker 7: doing everything from you know, brisket and pastromi to you know,
- 40:28Speaker 7: sticky ribs and pulled pork and Texas style sausage. You know,
- 40:33Speaker 7: they're doing it all. And I think the idea is
- 40:35Speaker 7: what they wanted. They want to incorporate more global and
- 40:37Speaker 7: international flavors as you know, as as the weeks go on.
- 40:41Speaker 7: So yeah, check them out. It's I believe the address
- 40:44Speaker 7: is one ninety South Ronald Reagan Boulevard, Holy City Zoo Barbecue.
- 40:49Speaker 3: It's nice, sounds good.
- 40:51Speaker 7: And then we got a place. You know, people keep
- 40:53Speaker 7: asking me, you know, what is going into that Santiago's
- 40:57Speaker 7: Bodega space in Altamont, and so I found out it's
- 41:00Speaker 7: a place called Sola Bar and Tables and it's it's
- 41:05Speaker 7: it's being touted as you know, as a as an
- 41:07Speaker 7: American cocktail bar with the with the menu, with the
- 41:12Speaker 7: menu highlighting Florida flavors. Yet it's called Sola, which is
- 41:16Speaker 7: you know, named after em Zola, the you know, the
- 41:18Speaker 7: French novelist and writer.
- 41:20Speaker 4: So of course, of course we all knew that bias.
- 41:24Speaker 7: Well, you know, if you've heard the word Jacques, that's
- 41:27Speaker 7: that's one of those things that Bob Ryer, you know,
- 41:32Speaker 7: French literature and Bob Fire go together.
- 41:34Speaker 6: Like oh well, let's move on.
- 41:39Speaker 7: So yeah, so they're so they're going to be opening
- 41:41Speaker 7: I believe later this month Sola Barn Tables where Santiago's
- 41:45Speaker 7: Bodega used to be in Altamont Springs. What else do
- 41:49Speaker 7: we have? Okay, so Nick and Luke All Day eatery
- 41:52Speaker 7: people again in Longwood, Long but again it is having
- 41:54Speaker 7: a moment.
- 41:55Speaker 4: To get out.
- 41:57Speaker 6: Yeah, it's quite the diameter of travel.
- 42:02Speaker 10: He did all the interviews with one ride.
- 42:06Speaker 7: But actually actually Nick and Luke All Day Eater is
- 42:09Speaker 7: actually downtown, but the but they used to be in
- 42:12Speaker 7: long with people. Remember Nick and Luke's Scratch Kitchen right
- 42:15Speaker 7: there on four thirty four, right of cars from now
- 42:19Speaker 7: Jack's favorite coffee shop ro So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 42:22Speaker 7: So they used to be there. But then he's moved
- 42:24Speaker 7: downtown and it's it's I believe it's on Pine Street.
- 42:28Speaker 7: I think I can't remember the address, but it leads
- 42:30Speaker 7: on Pine Streets and All Day eatery, but they close
- 42:32Speaker 7: at three pm. So these serving.
- 42:37Speaker 6: They are seven eleventh it says open twenty four hours,
- 42:41Speaker 6: not in a row.
- 42:43Speaker 7: So people who went to the one in Longwood, they'll
- 42:45Speaker 7: know he's like really into you know, local sourcing, farm
- 42:48Speaker 7: the table type stuff. So who's going to be doing
- 42:50Speaker 7: a lot of farms to table type breakfast handheld uh uh,
- 42:54Speaker 7: you know, breakfast sandwiches, burritos, juelos, friancero's. He'll do all
- 42:58Speaker 7: that kind of stuff. He's got like a bunch of
- 43:00Speaker 7: lunch sandwiches, rice bowls, and then he also has panter provisions.
- 43:05Speaker 7: He does his own jams and jellies and nice. So yeah,
- 43:09Speaker 7: look for them. They're already opened. Nick and Luke all
- 43:12Speaker 7: Day eatery downtown. I believe they're on Pine Street overlooking
- 43:15Speaker 7: Lake Iola there. Yeah, check them out there. The food
- 43:20Speaker 7: is very good. When I when I dined at the
- 43:21Speaker 7: restaurant in Longwood, it was it was excellent. It was
- 43:24Speaker 7: very good. And lastly, lastly, there's a couple of coffee
- 43:28Speaker 7: places I want to mention Prairie House Coffee. It's run
- 43:32Speaker 7: by a couple of Canadian sisters from Manitoba. Oh yeah, yeah, oh, yeah,
- 43:37Speaker 7: and that's in College Park. It's sort of like if
- 43:40Speaker 7: you take Princeton mean you continue towards towards obt towards
- 43:44Speaker 7: John Young Parkway. Actually right before that, there's a there's
- 43:47Speaker 7: a road called Coolidge and it leads into a pretty
- 43:49Speaker 7: industrial kind of area and they're located in there. It's
- 43:52Speaker 7: twenty five to forty one Coolidge Avenue in College Park,
- 43:55Speaker 7: and you know, and they work with a lot of
- 43:57Speaker 7: Colombian Colombian farmers. They do all their roasting in house.
- 44:02Speaker 7: And then there's another place called Ligature Coffee which is
- 44:05Speaker 7: open in SODO four twelve East Michigan Avenue, and it's
- 44:11Speaker 7: run by a former Credo Coffee along. His name is
- 44:13Speaker 7: Chris Mack and he's kind of like doing the same thing.
- 44:16Speaker 7: It's so is so into coffee. Two sort of notable
- 44:19Speaker 7: coffee joints that I wanted to mention today.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Wow, awesome, you've covered the gamut for us today. Fiaus.
- 44:24Speaker 10: Who do you think is a better memory?
- 44:25Speaker 6: Deborah Roberts or fias Car.
- 44:27Speaker 3: He's gotta be fias Card.
- 44:29Speaker 2: The way he pulls the dresses out, I know, he
- 44:32Speaker 2: was shocking ross Over there was like what prefaces.
- 44:35Speaker 6: Everything with I believe.
- 44:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, I know one address and it's mine.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Sometimes I get a little washy.
- 44:43Speaker 10: On the zip code when he makes it here, we're
- 44:46Speaker 10: surprised exactly.
- 44:48Speaker 7: I couldn't remember Curious Cat Bakery in Tampa's I googled it.
- 44:52Speaker 2: So, oh you're still covered, We still got you. Well,
- 44:56Speaker 2: thank you, Fias. How do people I know that we
- 44:58Speaker 2: see it right there on the screen. But for the
- 45:00Speaker 2: those who are not watching us at Real Radio dot
- 45:02Speaker 2: FM slash watch, where do they find you?
- 45:04Speaker 3: On social media?
- 45:06Speaker 4: Oh?
- 45:06Speaker 7: Yeah, find me on Instagram. All my culinary shenanigans are
- 45:09Speaker 7: there on Instagram at it's Fias Kara I T S
- 45:12Speaker 7: F A I y A Z k A r A.

- 45:17Speaker 7: my columns at Orlando Weekly dot com. Just click on

- 45:23Speaker 2: to his tip jar a little something extra in there.
- 45:25Speaker 10: And you read the reviews. It'll have the address so
- 45:28Speaker 10: you won't have to remember.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Although I don't doubt that Faiaz has every one of
- 45:33Speaker 2: those correct. Thank you so much, Fiez. Hope you have
- 45:36Speaker 2: a great rest of your weekend.

- 46:01Speaker 2: after this. Thousands are demanding the return of this product.
- 46:06Speaker 2: We'll tell you what that is next to keep it
- 46:07Speaker 2: here on the Jim Colbert Show on Real Radio one
- 46:09Speaker 2: to four point one.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Today is Mobita Ross sponsored with Jos Calmo, Orlando's injury Attorneys.
- 46:21Speaker 11: What's up cover a company Concrete Mike. Gun safety is
- 46:26Speaker 11: a major thing. If you do not know how to
- 46:30Speaker 11: safely operate a gun, you should not have one. I
- 46:33Speaker 11: have an uncle who shot himself in his own ass
- 46:37Speaker 11: this gun, so.
- 46:43Speaker 6: I do enjoy the chuckle on that one. And it
- 46:45Speaker 6: wrecked them.
- 46:46Speaker 13: Oh please please quit calling it the dark side of
- 46:49Speaker 13: the moon. I know the far side. The far side
- 46:52Speaker 13: of the moon also sees sunlight, not the dark side.
- 46:56Speaker 13: It is the far side. Love your show.
- 47:03Speaker 7: Afternoon.
- 47:03Speaker 13: As also today is National Siblings Day.
- 47:08Speaker 4: How many do you have? And when's the last time
- 47:11Speaker 4: you talked?
- 47:12Speaker 6: Dannio?
- 47:17Speaker 4: How do you have?
- 47:19Speaker 3: I have one brother?
- 47:20Speaker 6: I have four brothers?
- 47:22Speaker 3: Wow?
- 47:22Speaker 6: Six sisters?
- 47:24Speaker 4: Seriously any brothers?
- 47:25Speaker 6: Nope?
- 47:27Speaker 4: All right, well that explains, so.
- 47:30Speaker 6: I don't disagree. Ross talks about how sensitive and in.
- 47:34Speaker 4: Touch and in touch with your feminine side.
- 47:35Speaker 10: Abstitively consolutely, and I put the toilet seat down.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah, Ross, how about you?
- 47:42Speaker 4: I have a brother, and I have two half sisters
- 47:44Speaker 4: on my dad's side.
- 47:47Speaker 6: And I talked to my brother Andy just today.
- 47:49Speaker 3: When was the last time you spoke to all four?
- 47:51Speaker 4: Oh?
- 47:52Speaker 6: That would be a while. Oh, we are sort of
- 47:54Speaker 6: a fractured, friar family.
- 47:55Speaker 10: Maybe you can make an effort of it tonight. Maybe
- 47:58Speaker 10: you can make an effort of it today for Siblings Day.
- 48:00Speaker 5: Wouldn't that be nice? Come on, Robert, I don't think
- 48:02Speaker 5: that's gonna happen.
- 48:03Speaker 6: No, no, no, we're all fine.
- 48:05Speaker 4: We're all fine. We can gather around the table as
- 48:08Speaker 4: long as it's.
- 48:08Speaker 6: A big table.
- 48:10Speaker 9: Room.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show. Jim, we'll be
- 48:14Speaker 2: back with us on Monday. You've got deb Jack Ross
- 48:17Speaker 2: and of course you can hear our special guest co
- 48:19Speaker 2: host today one mister Bob fryar Hi and his beautiful
- 48:23Speaker 2: blue blazer getting ready.
- 48:24Speaker 3: To go out on the town tonight.
- 48:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I might. Yeah, that's why I brought it.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Okay, that is different though, Ross.
- 48:31Speaker 4: Then I know, I was just thinking, like, is this
- 48:34Speaker 4: a hot take? I feel like this is a hot take,
- 48:37Speaker 4: and maybe this is too inflammatory too quickly in a segment.
- 48:40Speaker 4: But when you see a family and they have two
- 48:44Speaker 4: kids and they are both the same gender, I would
- 48:48Speaker 4: say that the young the youngest sibling was like they
- 48:54Speaker 4: were wishing for something else, like subconsciously, not totally. I'm
- 48:58Speaker 4: not saying that they are.
- 49:01Speaker 10: The parents wanted if they had the boy, they wanted
- 49:05Speaker 10: you to be the girl, then they want.
- 49:06Speaker 4: You to be the girl, and vice versa, because like
- 49:08Speaker 4: I mean, that's the it's not like a need. But
- 49:12Speaker 4: if you give me the option, right, you know, people
- 49:15Speaker 4: will probably lean towards that. But you're not the youngest boy,
- 49:19Speaker 4: right Jack.
- 49:20Speaker 6: Yeah, but.
- 49:23Speaker 10: I have a younger sister and young five older.
- 49:26Speaker 3: And if you remember Jacket told us the story.
- 49:29Speaker 4: Yeah, that the younger sister wasn't playing.
- 49:31Speaker 2: No, the younger sister was planned so that the other
- 49:34Speaker 2: kids didn't think that they were just trying to have
- 49:36Speaker 2: a boy.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Oh so that's kind of point. That's my point.
- 49:39Speaker 10: I think it's just trying to rationalize a Catholic lifestyle.
- 49:44Speaker 6: In the sixties. Sixties that was pretty much us. Yeah,
- 49:49Speaker 6: that's where we came up with that.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, that good old natural birth
- 49:53Speaker 2: control did wonders?
- 49:54Speaker 4: Right, do you bet? You?
- 49:56Speaker 3: You bet? You spoken like a true nude Western.
- 49:58Speaker 6: All right, that just one of the best we got
- 50:00Speaker 6: five of us.
- 50:03Speaker 2: So before the break, we had teased that thousands of
- 50:05Speaker 2: people are demanding the return of this particular item, the
- 50:09Speaker 2: McRib good guess.
- 50:11Speaker 4: Ross, phenomenal guess man, what has fax machines? Awful guess?
- 50:18Speaker 3: Because this is a food item.
- 50:20Speaker 6: Or a food item?
- 50:20Speaker 10: Yes, have you had a fax machine with a little basis?
- 50:26Speaker 4: Bacon?
- 50:26Speaker 3: Oh, bacon makes everything everything.
- 50:29Speaker 5: The McRib is as good as it gets. I can't
- 50:31Speaker 5: think of another food. Oh you know what, taco flavored Dorito's.
- 50:34Speaker 5: I've been looking for taco flavored doritos. They only come out.
- 50:36Speaker 5: When do they come out? Is there a specific time
- 50:37Speaker 5: a year?
- 50:38Speaker 2: I don't know, but you need to go to for
- 50:39Speaker 2: the late night bag. That's the one that tastes like
- 50:42Speaker 2: like tacos. That's what it's called.
- 50:44Speaker 6: What about the Taco Bell pizza, that pizza.
- 50:46Speaker 3: The Mexican pizza.
- 50:47Speaker 2: No, no, this is something decidedly we could say Florida,
- 50:50Speaker 2: but it's really kind of the Southeast. I want to
- 50:53Speaker 2: take another stab at it.
- 50:55Speaker 10: Uh Arnold Palmer sweet tea.
- 50:57Speaker 4: Yeah, but you make that Yeah, well yeah.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Florida is less than two weeks away from the start.
- 51:05Speaker 6: Of hurricane hurricane season.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Hurricane season in public's cakes. There you go, hurricane cake.
- 51:14Speaker 4: We started from fax machines and then we got the
- 51:16Speaker 4: question around them. I give you range, hit you with
- 51:20Speaker 4: the bookends. What's wait?
- 51:21Speaker 6: When are we how far away?
- 51:23Speaker 4: All you have heard of the hurricane cakane season is
- 51:25Speaker 4: June one.
- 51:26Speaker 6: It's not you said two weeks away.
- 51:28Speaker 2: Oh sorry, two months away? Oh two months away. We're
- 51:32Speaker 2: getting back fifty four days. Does the hurricane cake have
- 51:35Speaker 2: a little baby in it?
- 51:36Speaker 4: No?
- 51:37Speaker 2: And they got rid of the hurricane cake back like
- 51:39Speaker 2: in twenty twenty two.
- 51:41Speaker 4: Yeah, because people die.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Hurricane Ian.
- 51:44Speaker 2: Actually, we had one hundred people die during Hurricane Ian
- 51:47Speaker 2: and over hundreds of millions of dollars worth of damage.
- 51:51Speaker 2: In fact, the World Meteorological Organization retired Ian from the
- 51:56Speaker 2: list of future hurricane names in twenty twenty three, but
- 52:00Speaker 2: that's not stopping public shoppers from starting a change dot
- 52:04Speaker 2: org petition asking for publics to bring back the hurricane king.
- 52:09Speaker 6: They thought it was a bad marketing thing to call it.
- 52:10Speaker 4: Hurricanes, they did. They maybe Jack Jones didn't kill cooling,
- 52:14Speaker 4: you know, they still so.
- 52:15Speaker 2: I know so if you had never seen them, Jack,
- 52:18Speaker 2: this is a new sixth story. They actually sometimes come
- 52:22Speaker 2: with it. You know, they'll show the graphics of the
- 52:23Speaker 2: state of Florida with the.
- 52:24Speaker 3: Cone of uncertainty, right, I know it well, and.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Then they'll have phrases on them such as go away,
- 52:31Speaker 2: leave Florida alone. Well, as you said, publics got rid
- 52:34Speaker 2: of them in twenty twenty two after Hurricane Ian devastated
- 52:38Speaker 2: the state and just kind of didn't want the look
- 52:40Speaker 2: of them making light of a natural disaster. All right,
- 52:43Speaker 2: But fast forward four years and the change dot org
- 52:47Speaker 2: petition says, quote, we appreciate or actually this is the
- 52:51Speaker 2: different one, all right, trying to find the the writing
- 52:54Speaker 2: saying listen, your hurricane cakes made storm prep just a
- 52:57Speaker 2: little bit sweeter, Right, we get the joke. We get
- 53:00Speaker 2: that you're not trying to take light of a natural disaster.
- 53:02Speaker 2: But while we're getting bottled water and batteries, being able
- 53:06Speaker 2: to pick up a hurricane cake just kind of adds
- 53:08Speaker 2: a little bit of whimsy, a little bit of a
- 53:10Speaker 2: wink to storm prep that even though the winds may
- 53:13Speaker 2: be howling outside, Flaridians know how to keep their sense
- 53:16Speaker 2: of humor while they're hunkering down.
- 53:19Speaker 6: Yeah, over a term of time, people tend to forget, like,
- 53:21Speaker 6: you know, they're bringing back black plague pancakes. That's you know,
- 53:26Speaker 6: it's be great.
- 53:27Speaker 3: Well, here's the statement.
- 53:28Speaker 2: So once upon a time, quote, publics gave us something
- 53:31Speaker 2: magical hurricane cakes.
- 53:33Speaker 3: Not just delicious.
- 53:34Speaker 2: These cakes were edible morale boosters, a wink, a laugh,
- 53:37Speaker 2: and a little comfort as we stocked up on bottled
- 53:39Speaker 2: water and batteries. For reasons unknown, publics stopped making them,
- 53:43Speaker 2: And frankly, we don't care why.
- 53:44Speaker 4: We just know why.
- 53:46Speaker 2: They made hurricane prep a little brighter. There were a
- 53:48Speaker 2: sweet reminder that even when the wind howls and the
- 53:50Speaker 2: rain pours, folks across the southeast keep their sense of humor.
- 53:54Speaker 2: We're calling on publics to bring back the hurricane cake
- 53:57Speaker 2: for the joy, the tradition, and the morale of the
- 54:00Speaker 2: communities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee,
- 54:06Speaker 2: and Virginia. Let's make hurricane season just a little bit sweeter.
- 54:10Speaker 10: I cau yah who wrote this news story? Was it
- 54:12Speaker 10: Public's pr department?
- 54:13Speaker 14: No?
- 54:13Speaker 2: Actually, this is Tim Lawler fromthechange dot Org from they
- 54:17Speaker 2: bring up back Public's Hurricane Cakes.
- 54:19Speaker 4: Now.
- 54:19Speaker 2: The petition initially asked for thirty five signatures.
- 54:24Speaker 4: How many they got. Yeah, that's a very small petition.
- 54:26Speaker 2: It is well over forty thousand people. I could see
- 54:29Speaker 2: that well over forty thousand people have signed in asking
- 54:33Speaker 2: publics to bring back Is there.
- 54:34Speaker 10: Anyway I could remove names from that list? I hate
- 54:38Speaker 10: this idea, I hate the cake. I hate the idea.
- 54:41Speaker 10: I hate a petition.
- 54:43Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 54:43Speaker 10: It just annoys me. I'm looking at it. It doesn't
- 54:46Speaker 10: look good whatever.
- 54:49Speaker 5: One of the reasons, one of the many reasons I'm
- 54:50Speaker 5: happy to be out of TV news is that I
- 54:52Speaker 5: can now take part in hurricane prep parties and parties
- 54:55Speaker 5: while hurricanes.
- 54:56Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I used to have to report on
- 54:57Speaker 6: the darn things.
- 54:59Speaker 2: That's the frustrating park. You know, you never get to
- 55:01Speaker 2: be home taking care of your home exactly. You never
- 55:04Speaker 2: get to be with your family, you know, you're always
- 55:06Speaker 2: separated and staring as staying at different locations. So as
- 55:10Speaker 2: of right now, there have been forty one and ninety
- 55:13Speaker 2: four verified signatures on the change dot org petition to
- 55:17Speaker 2: bring back Public's hurricane cake.
- 55:19Speaker 10: According to this stinking cake, we're about to lose new
- 55:21Speaker 10: Smyrna beach.
- 55:24Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean, it doesn't look good to anybody and
- 55:29Speaker 15: to anybody who doesn't understand why Publics took these cakes aways,
- 55:33Speaker 15: because it's just like corporate America.
- 55:35Speaker 4: You can't. You can't be sterile and basically a sociopath
- 55:40Speaker 4: when it comes to the corporate construct of a career
- 55:45Speaker 4: and a job while also having flashes of personality because
- 55:48Speaker 4: those two things conflict. Also, people are getting offended. Sure,
- 55:53Speaker 4: I mean, if you give me, if I'm the king
- 55:55Speaker 4: of the land, hell yeah, dude, make hurricane cakes. But
- 55:58Speaker 4: they're not making hurricane cakes for the betterment of us.
- 56:01Speaker 4: They're not. They stopped making hurricane cakes because of dollars
- 56:05Speaker 4: and money, and it's not the greatest look.
- 56:09Speaker 2: Yeah, let them wind down.
- 56:13Speaker 4: No I don't.
- 56:14Speaker 5: It's always that one squeaky wheel that ruins it for
- 56:16Speaker 5: the rest of the hurricane party preppers.
- 56:18Speaker 4: I mean, go all right, I'm down, sure, make the cake,
- 56:22Speaker 4: eat a.
- 56:22Speaker 6: Donuts to get a pizza. You don't need that stupid cake.
- 56:25Speaker 4: I'm just pointing out the obvious that if you're looking
- 56:27Speaker 4: for corporate America to do the betterment for you because
- 56:31Speaker 4: of you, it's not. It's just because they're looking out
- 56:35Speaker 4: for tomorrow and what is a better image. They did
- 56:38Speaker 4: this because they know that people die every hurricane and
- 56:40Speaker 4: it might not be the greatest look as we have
- 56:44Speaker 4: all of these chains all throughout the state.
- 56:46Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's like White in Colorado name their hockey
- 56:48Speaker 5: team the Avalanche.
- 56:49Speaker 6: You know, such a great idea.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Work well, speaking of that, so all right, we and
- 56:57Speaker 2: other food news. So to commemdbers of the Blue Jays.
- 57:01Speaker 2: You know you have a hot dog when you go
- 57:02Speaker 2: to a ball game, right, sure you do.
- 57:03Speaker 3: Of course, it's like.
- 57:04Speaker 4: Required even in Canada, they won't let you out until
- 57:07Speaker 4: you finish.
- 57:07Speaker 3: One, exactly exactly.
- 57:09Speaker 2: So to commemorate the franchises nineteen seventy seven beginnings the
- 57:13Speaker 2: Blue Jays offered hot dogs for a pretty good price
- 57:15Speaker 2: this week, and it turns out fans relish the discount.
- 57:21Speaker 4: You do that on purpose.
- 57:22Speaker 3: You see what I did there?
- 57:24Speaker 6: That's unfortunately public's pr right.
- 57:27Speaker 2: So the discount part of the weekly Looney Dog Night
- 57:30Speaker 2: presented by Schneiders. Anybody named Schneider's, you know can make
- 57:33Speaker 2: a good sausage. It's from someone from the Midwest. Oh yeah,
- 57:37Speaker 2: all right? So how many hot dogs did they sell
- 57:40Speaker 2: at Tuesday night's game?
- 57:42Speaker 4: How many tickets to the Oh? Who are they playing?
- 57:45Speaker 3: No worry about that.
- 57:49Speaker 4: Numbers.
- 57:50Speaker 6: I can't do the equation until I have all the factors.
- 57:52Speaker 4: Can you spell the word first?
- 57:54Speaker 10: I will guess twenty thousand.
- 57:56Speaker 6: That's a good guess.
- 57:58Speaker 4: Twenty thousand hot dogs? Yes, sake ten, I think twenty
- 58:01Speaker 4: thousand people showed up. I would say, you know, veganism
- 58:04Speaker 4: is kind of blown up. Not the two. I'll go
- 58:08Speaker 4: four thousand.
- 58:09Speaker 2: How about one hundred and two thousand, two hundred and two?
- 58:13Speaker 6: My good, What are they charging for these.
- 58:15Speaker 3: Seventy seven cents?
- 58:17Speaker 4: Oh?
- 58:17Speaker 3: Hell yeah, seventy seven cents.
- 58:19Speaker 4: I would have eaten three.
- 58:20Speaker 5: Ironically, though, they got the buns in a packet of
- 58:23Speaker 5: six hundred thousand per so yeah, by.
- 58:25Speaker 3: The seventh inning. By the seventh inning.
- 58:28Speaker 4: The Blue match see what's going on there?
- 58:34Speaker 2: Yeah, by the seventh inning, the Blue Jays announced that
- 58:37Speaker 2: vendors had already sold more than one hundred thousand hot dogs.
- 58:40Speaker 3: That's according to the bleacher Report.
- 58:42Speaker 2: Now, according to the Looney Dogs, Jays fans ate a
- 58:46Speaker 2: record how many hot dogs total in twenty twenty five?
- 58:49Speaker 4: Oh wow, do the math. Let's see those one hundred
- 58:51Speaker 4: and six five games a year.
- 58:52Speaker 2: It's like two and a half hot dogs per person
- 58:54Speaker 2: at this game for them to be able to clear
- 58:56Speaker 2: a year thousand, Yeah, yeah.
- 58:58Speaker 4: All year.
- 58:58Speaker 6: I'm doing the math.
- 58:59Speaker 10: Also, do you know I was gonna say two million, four.
- 59:03Speaker 3: Not that many?
- 59:03Speaker 2: Eighth and twenty six thousand one game, and I think
- 59:08Speaker 2: it's that seventy seven, which is interesting because normally they're.
- 59:10Speaker 4: Only like a buck.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Oh but really, yeah, but I mean the seventy seven
- 59:15Speaker 2: cent discount. They just went crazy and ate almost three hot.
- 59:17Speaker 4: Dogs twenty three. The difference in people.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Hey, have you have you not seen gas prices?
- 59:22Speaker 16: They're hot dog a regularly a dollar I believe, So
- 59:25Speaker 16: they're yeah, exactly, No, typically Tuesday night games actually no
- 59:29Speaker 16: Tuesday night games at Roger Center feature hot dogs for
- 59:32Speaker 16: a dollar?
- 59:33Speaker 6: Was the person selling them? What came up with a dollar?
- 59:35Speaker 6: They had to give out twenty three cents. Here's your
- 59:38Speaker 6: two do now you move it along, you keep it.
- 59:42Speaker 2: You keeping nothing like a good Where's your favorite hot dog?
- 59:46Speaker 8: For me?
- 59:46Speaker 3: It's the streets of New York City?
- 59:47Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, you gotta get Yeah, if it's not that,
- 59:50Speaker 2: it's got to be a Nathan's hot dog. I don't
- 59:52Speaker 2: care if it's the airport or made it home, but
- 59:54Speaker 2: it's got to be Nathan's. I'me square, Yep, it's got
- 59:57Speaker 2: to be a street dog. You got to get it
- 59:58Speaker 2: in that water that hasn't and changed since.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: Last one I had was right outside the Convention Center.
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: You have it Centeredavit Center, Gabet Center.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: Yeah, so good Chicago dogs fan, No ketchup. Let it
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: ride Celery Salt.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Now, do not sleep on the Primrose Lanes hot dog.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: It is pricey, but it is worth it.
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: Really.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: Oh that is a delicious, just hot dog.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: There would one procure such a thing at Primrose Lane.
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: Yeah in the Milk Milk district. Oh okay, gotcha?
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Yeah, great old fashion and that hot dog Like I said,
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: it is not cheap, but it is definitely worth it.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: And it hangs off both sides of the buns, so
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: you're definitely getting your motor.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: After eating one.
- 1:00:44Speaker 9: I have.
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: Are you ripping Primrose Lane hot dogs? I've I've had
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: it before. It was good.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: It was good. Yeah, building it up for a date
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: after it.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: Charlie Barns, I think, is a Wisconsin comic who was
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: in town. We went and saw a show and then
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: after the show we went over to Primrose and got
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: ourselves in an old fashion.
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: They have a great old five.
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: I was really impressed with that.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: I was, it's a great spot, it really is.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: And then you know, it's it's cool seeing like those
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: four bowling lanes. It's not a serious but it is
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: a serious bowling alley.
- 1:01:15Speaker 10: It used to be, right, and so they kept some
- 1:01:18Speaker 10: of that and then they kind of made this cool
- 1:01:20Speaker 10: little bar and.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Yeah, the interior is really really cool if you haven't
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: seen it, But the food lives up to the hype.
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: That's what's up, dude. I'm so happy that you went
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: to Primrose Lanes. That dog.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Well, you talked about it being like one of the
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: best hot dogs you'd ever had when it first opens.
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: And here's the thing, though, hot dogs are kind of
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: like ice cream to me, where I can't really differentiate
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: what's good great. I can go from bad. I can
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: tell you what's bad and good in about almost anything
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: in the culinary worlds and feel confident with it. But
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: sometimes I can't tell the difference between good and great.
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: And hot dogs are one of those things. For me.
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: There's only like a handful of hot dogs that jump
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: out to be like, well, this is a different product.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Well, and I think part of that is because you
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: have your vastly different experience, right You've got your your
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: street dogs in New York City, and that sabarette that
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: water probably has I.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: Don't know who knows it does add a little extra flavor.
- 1:02:15Speaker 10: They put water in there when ed Koch was made.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: You mean the same guy who said, if it's brown,
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: let it flesh it down, if it's.
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: Yellow, let it mellow.
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: All the way to the higher end with the Primrose dog.
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: But again that that is a good time.
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: But I would say my favorite hot dog, even more
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: so than the Primrose one, is a Chicago hot dog.
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: There's one place in Orlando that'd be slanging them. The
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: same way, like it's a twin when people are like, oh,
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: it's the same way up north. This is the only
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: thing I've had from one city transplanted in Orlando, identical
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: hot dog. Heaven that hot dog is to a tea.
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: It feels like you are about to look at the bean. Yeah,
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: exactly exactly.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: We got a spot out by us that makes a
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: really killer of Chicago dog as well.
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: I've got like black sesame on the side, Like there's
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: only there's like seven or eight things, right Relish, Yeah,
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: it looks like it's about to make a ninja turtle
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: into a nim turtle.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: Exactly exactly.
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: I do like the boiled in the water hot dog,
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: but man.
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: Grilled a grilled with you.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: I mean, if you're oh you were raised with.
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: Hot dogs, making that happen, Oh.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Wow, it's like making your brots on the grill. You
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: gotta boil him in beer for.
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: Yeah, Dad, bringing out the charcoal briquettes. Also, I just
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: start salivating. It's just the thought, Oh it was coming out.
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: Can I do the liquid fire, Dad?
- 1:03:39Speaker 15: Can I spray that on that?
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: Sure?
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: Bob?
- 1:03:43Speaker 6: Yeah, those eyebrows will grow back.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: Sure problem.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: All right, We're gonna roll them around, get him in
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: the dirt. All right, We're gonna take a little break,
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: but we'll be back with more. So keep it on
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: The Jim Culbert Show on Real Radio one of four
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: point one.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: Say how's it ohana?
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Oh, happy Helloha Friday to everyone, And it's just going
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: to have a great job this week.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: And yeah, now you can.
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: Move on to the final countdown.
- 1:04:18Speaker 17: And I only got one thing to say about the
- 1:04:21Speaker 17: wedding in July.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Hell no, nope, me and the missus got married.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: They're twenty first this month. Oh that's a good reminder
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: for me. Aloha aloha, don't forget that.
- 1:04:34Speaker 6: I guess I hope you because you do well.
- 1:04:35Speaker 18: So I think publics needs to follow the State of
- 1:04:38Speaker 18: Florida rule, you know, like you need sixty percent of
- 1:04:41Speaker 18: the boat to pass anything. So they probably need about
- 1:04:44Speaker 18: sixty percent of the people to sign that petition to
- 1:04:47Speaker 18: bring those kicks back. So twenty three million people live
- 1:04:50Speaker 18: in Florida, so about about twelve million people need to
- 1:04:52Speaker 18: sign that thing before that kick comes back.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: Thanks bye, I'm sure we'll have no problem adding that
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: by the end of the weekend. Oh yeah, welcome back
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: to the Jim Kolber Show on Real Radio one O
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: four point one. Jim enjoying the final days of his
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: winning vacation. He'll be back with us next week. In
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: his place, You've got deb Jack Ross say Hi guys,
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: Hi guys, Hi guys, and our special guest co.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: Host today, Bob Fryer.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: Hi guys.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: Thank you so much. Boby.
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: Be part of the team there.
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: You know, Deb, I remember when Public's they made a
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: toilet paper cake for COVID. Oh yeah, also like the Public's.
- 1:05:31Speaker 10: Cakes slash jokes, slash like having fun like that whole
- 1:05:37Speaker 10: I want to say, that's like bakery, per bakery. Like
- 1:05:40Speaker 10: the people making the cakes also want to like kind
- 1:05:43Speaker 10: of have I wonder if they've been instructed in years
- 1:05:46Speaker 10: past to be like now it's time to make.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: The Ian cake.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Be creative, you know, be creative.
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: And then that's how you got the toilet paper cake
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: that definitely went viral during the pandemic.
- 1:05:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Well we came up with our own branded beer during
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: during COVID.
- 1:06:00Speaker 6: You know, Public does their bakery.
- 1:06:03Speaker 10: They know what they're doing.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: They do they do.
- 1:06:05Speaker 10: It's a good product.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: That's a good time.
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: Sometimes those commercials are so good they are we talk
- 1:06:11Speaker 6: about it every time.
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: Because, yeah, you know they're they're really good.
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: Well, you mentioned Bob has been back.
- 1:06:17Speaker 10: We are in a run of twenty five Jim Colbert
- 1:06:23Speaker 10: shows where twenty of them will have a guest co host.
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: I saw the list of people who are coming up.
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: They're all who's who's of people in my life?
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: Which is nice. Come on, my old co anchor is.
- 1:06:34Speaker 10: The Bob Fryar is the only one. Actually not true.
- 1:06:39Speaker 10: Bob Fryer and one other person repeat days. Oh really,
- 1:06:43Speaker 10: everyone else is just one day. Bob has had two
- 1:06:47Speaker 10: days out of that twenty and the other person.
- 1:06:50Speaker 6: Is Lauren Rowe.
- 1:06:51Speaker 10: Oh and she's coming up in a couple of weeks.
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: Yeah, my old co anchor.
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: Yeah, that release says is we've got nothing else going
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: on sometime time.
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: You know what, you try and make them feel good.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: Yeah, and I known you were going to sing my praises,
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: I would never have interrupted.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Well, listen, I wanted to let you know that the
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: it looks like the skyline of downtown Orlando is going
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: to be changing again.
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: I hope. So tell me they changed the airport Tomfoolery rule.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: No, this isn't this is closer to Lake Eola. Actually,
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: what they're going to do there is plans now for
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: a new skyscraper, Oh wow, with a five star hotel
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: planned for a cross from Lake Eola.
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: Across from where what part of it?
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: It's like Rosalind and yeah, right right there, Roslin and
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Pine or Washington each Washington Street?
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: How many teller are stories? Do you think this bad
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: boy is going to be?
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: Now?
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: There had been plans for a seventh story hotel to
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: be on this what is currently a vacant lot, but
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: those plans never really move forward. So this new developer
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: came in and said, Okay, this is what we're going
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: to do with this.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: Plot of land.
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: Ten stories, ten stories. I'll go thirty three O Martine Points.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Ross thirty seven wow, thirty seven yeah, thirty seven stories.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: It will be as tall as the Orange County Courthouse,
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: as well as some of the downtown condominiums planning to
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: have hotel rooms, luxury condominiums, restaurants. Wow, all next door
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: to I kind of feel bad for the Greek Orthodox
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: church there, Saint George's I believe it's called because it's
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: going to be literally right next door, yeah, right next door.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: But again it's yep. It is near Saint George Orthodox Church.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: It's across from rosalind from Lake Iola, Okay. And again
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: so seeking a new planned development to accommodate a two
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: hundred and twenty one room luxury hotel with two hundred
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: and fifty two dwelling units.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: Above the hotel.
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: They're also asking for flexibility, you know, just in case
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: the hotel idea doesn't work, maybe they could swap that
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: out for office space. The idea is to you know,
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: create a mixed use project. It will have residential hospitality,
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: ground floor retail, food and beverage components. You see this
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: everywhere right over here in winter Park over.
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: Outside of Maitland.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: You have the restaurants and hair salons on the bottom
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: and then the apartments on top.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: This, of course, would be a luxury version of that.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: And with a proposed height of four hundred and twenty
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: feet the new tower it would be approximately the same height,
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: like I said, as the view at Lake Iola and
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: the Orange County Courthouse.
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: I was there when the view broke round. I was
- 1:09:38Speaker 6: there that night.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: But na, yep, man, this is good news. But I'm
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: greedy and I want bigger buildings, really I do. And
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: I know that we can't because of these airports. Do
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: you know that airport? You guys like, if it wasn't
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: for that airport right outside of downtown Orlando, we would
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: be having bigger buildings.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: Big Orlando executive.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: Yes, the one that what is it? None of us use,
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: Not a single person I've ever met has ever used.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: Yes, we don't have private planes. That is that's the
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: private plane airfield. And they're never gonna get rid of
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: that airfield because that's where the money flies into Orlando.
- 1:10:16Speaker 10: Well, if they're never gonna get rid of it, then
- 1:10:18Speaker 10: I ain't gonna stop bitching because that decision of putting
- 1:10:22Speaker 10: that airport there has determined so much of this city's
- 1:10:26Speaker 10: identity with its ripple effect.
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: How about the like that that's one of the main
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: reasons why we're such a spread out central Florida, instead
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: of maybe having taller buildings that could have maybe if
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: that happened back in like the eighties or seventies, you
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: would have had more of maybe of a mass transit
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: for downtown Orlando instead of just these pulling the teeth
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: here in the last ten years. When it comes to
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: mass transit.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: I think a lot of that had to just do
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: with the attractions, and that more people were living closer
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: to the theme parks than they were living in downtown
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: our I mean the view really is what open up
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: living in downtown Orlando.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: That just used to be a place that you worked.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: It wasn't a place that you also live.
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: And that that's the new model of living now because
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: people aren't going to the malls anymore. That's where you're
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: gonna be doing your shopping and you're living.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: That's what That's what the whole mixed use, Yeah, trying
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: to encourage that walkability in a city.
- 1:11:15Speaker 5: Yeah, and the mass transit thing for like going from
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: the airport to the to the parks. I think that
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: was became a fight between Universal and Disney. Disney wanted
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: to go straight to them.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: And then bright Line whoa yeah exactly. And what's the
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: name of our train that runs the SunRail? The SunRail exactly,
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: which I mean Jack is off. I mean hopefully with
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: the Jaguars coming, we'll get the sun Rail to run
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: on the weekends.
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: Oh that's right, yeah, yeah, yeah, you.
- 1:11:39Speaker 10: Know instead of yeah for eight days in twenty twenty seven.
- 1:11:43Speaker 6: Would that be great?
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: I mean it's something, but I I've never heard because
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: the Orlando Executive Airport that's been there for a hot minute.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: Yeah, it's been there for a very long time. And
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: it's just like, I love seeing Orlando Skyline. And I
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: remember getting into a conversation with somebody a long time
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: ago and they just kind of pointed out of like,
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: you know, the buildings can't get taller than that. I
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: was like, what what do you mean? Yeah, those buildings
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: will never get taller. You'll never see a taller building
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: in Orlando Skyline.
- 1:12:16Speaker 6: I kind of like the fact that we've got that
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: size of skyline.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: I didn't want it to get giant.
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: I like being able to see my sunsets from Lake
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: Yola one at all.
- 1:12:26Speaker 10: My favorite view of the Orlando Skyline is going east
- 1:12:31Speaker 10: on I for or actually what north east? You're you're
- 1:12:35Speaker 10: traveling north, but it's on I for East, gotcha? Yeah, okay,
- 1:12:38Speaker 10: And you are approaching downtown just as you get to
- 1:12:41Speaker 10: that the four oh eight overpassage, just at night when
- 1:12:45Speaker 10: it's all lit up. I think that's just a cool
- 1:12:48Speaker 10: look for Orlando with the new construction. Ie for you
- 1:12:51Speaker 10: come in, you dip down and it just the city's
- 1:12:55Speaker 10: right there and you windshield.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: I think that's it.
- 1:12:57Speaker 10: That's my favorite.
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: View of down is that your screensaver on your phone.
- 1:13:01Speaker 10: It would be okay if I wasn't always the one
- 1:13:04Speaker 10: driving when I.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: See oh man, lost art, lost opportunity, but.
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: Me ride shotgun. I'll make it happen for you. I
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: appreciate you, Bob, give I.
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: Given when it hurts. What do I do if you
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: call it a little more?
- 1:13:15Speaker 10: If I have to pick you up tonight that we
- 1:13:17Speaker 10: can loop around, you.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: Know where I'm going to be.
- 1:13:19Speaker 6: I'll be the one wearing the blue sport code.
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: Well.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Orlando Executives Airport opened in nineteen twenty eight as the
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Orlando Municipal Airport, and it was the first commercial airport
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: in central Florida at the time.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: The only person I know who flew out of there
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: was Casey Anthony. I remember we were watching her and
- 1:13:36Speaker 5: she was driving out of the jail, you know, a
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: bias hat or any where are they going? Of course
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: they go to the airport and off she goes. Yeah,
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: that's the only person I know that's flown out of there.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: Again private plane right, oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: I don't know where she was South.
- 1:13:49Speaker 10: Florida since I know Spring scene flew out of there.
- 1:13:53Speaker 10: It was like thirty people were still exiting the Key
- 1:13:57Speaker 10: of Center after his concert and he was already on
- 1:14:01Speaker 10: the plane out of there.
- 1:14:02Speaker 6: What does that tell you? Yeah, and I will allow
- 1:14:04Speaker 6: you to draft me. On the way out of the auditorium.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: There was there was some big event here in central Florida.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: Where after it ended, you just maybe it was Bay Hill,
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: but you just watched. If you were in the flight math,
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: you just watched one private plane after another seeing.
- 1:14:18Speaker 10: Off after the Daytona five hundred. There you go, as
- 1:14:20Speaker 10: you're in traffic and the airport is right next to
- 1:14:22Speaker 10: the track, you can see these planes all lined up and.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Leaving, getting ready to take off. All right, Well, we're
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: going to take a little break right now. When we
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: come back, we're going to talk about something that has
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: a lot of significance, especially if you have a sun
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: between the age of eighteen and twenty.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Five years old.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: So if that, if that includes you, keep it here
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: and we'll tell you what that is next. So keep
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: it on the Jim Culbert Show on Real Radio one
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: of four point one.
- 1:14:53Speaker 7: Well, hello, guys, it is Party Mom from Tucson.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: Party Mom Ross.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: I have a question what's up on Wednesday?
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: When I called, you dropped your head into your hands
- 1:15:06Speaker 7: like you were disgusted that I called in.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: What's up with that?
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: Are we still friends? We still mates? Do we still
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: smoke weed?
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: Every day?
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: Come on, dude, what's up?
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Getting shade all the way from Tucson, Arizona.
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: Where there's no shit. I wasn't here Wednesday?
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, party mom, He really wasn't here Wednesday, but there is.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: I have nothing but great things to say about party mom.
- 1:15:37Speaker 10: He was here every day this week except Wednesday except Wednesday.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that was just myself, Jack and then Johnny Magic.
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: Let's say she got the date wrong.
- 1:15:45Speaker 10: It's that the first time where a caller, you know,
- 1:15:49Speaker 10: watches our reaction to something that is played on the air,
- 1:15:52Speaker 10: and then they are spond They were spun and sometimes
- 1:15:57Speaker 10: we're reacting to that, but a lot of sometimes we're
- 1:16:00Speaker 10: reacting to something entirely different. But you are taking your
- 1:16:04Speaker 10: audio and matching it with our video, and it's not
- 1:16:07Speaker 10: always in sync.
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: So you know what that is, party mom.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: That's just Jack's very polite way of saying that he
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: broke wind in the studio.
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: I was gonna say, that's an enclosed room over there, exactly.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: They do that to each other all the time. I
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: was unlucky enough to walk in.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 1:16:21Speaker 6: Oh yeah, somebody compromised the integrity and.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: I didn't know and walked in and wait.
- 1:16:26Speaker 6: It's okay to use names since it's not mine.
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: Well, I wasn't gonna.
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: I'm completely fine with flatulence.
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: Yeah, welcome back to the Jim Clobert Show. Jim will
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: be back on Monday. You've got Dad, We've got Jack,
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: We've got Ross.
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: I probably put my hands in my face because of
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: like a Korean baseball team loss that I had money on.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: It could have been.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: You can catch him tomorrow night at the Marion Theater
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: and o'kalla gets your tickets.
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: I hope some are still available.
- 1:16:55Speaker 6: Three dot com you.
- 1:16:56Speaker 10: Know what, I will check this out. Haven't looked in
- 1:16:59Speaker 10: a little bit.
- 1:17:00Speaker 6: It was so GA was twenty.
- 1:17:02Speaker 10: The first three rows were thirty dollars and that first
- 1:17:05Speaker 10: row sold immediately, and then rose four, five, six, seven
- 1:17:10Speaker 10: started filling up. But there was a gap of row
- 1:17:12Speaker 10: two and three, and we started talking about it this week.
- 1:17:14Speaker 10: Then row two filled up, but I think at last check,
- 1:17:17Speaker 10: row three still needed help.
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: I am happy and.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: Our special guest co host Today Bob Fryar Bob, if
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: you've never seen Ross's stand up show, for a mere
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: thirty dollars, you could sit in the first three rows
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: and be regaled by not just Ross but comedian Ken
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: Miller and others tomorrow night in o'kella.
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: Well, also, now that I know that he's fine with Flatlen's,
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: maybe I'll spring for that first row.
- 1:17:39Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: Well, there's only one ticket left in the first row.
- 1:17:43Speaker 10: I'm not gonna lie. Okala, you have showed out.
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: The third row has four seats available, which means we
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: officially have an audience right first row too. I think
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: about the eighth row, nine row.
- 1:17:58Speaker 6: If I can snag that first that last ticket in
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: the first row, I can clear out Road two and three.
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: Yeah, there are still plenty of tickets in the general
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: admission that you can scoop up twenty bucks. Tickets are
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: at Rosscomedy dot com. But I am so excited that
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: my biggest fear has been thrown away. I have an
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: audience in the second and third row, So thank you. Okala.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: Yeah, now you can relax because we know that you're really,
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: really nervous about that.
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: Why it was just gonna be so awkward.
- 1:18:27Speaker 6: Bill founded, Fear.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: Still founded, fear absolutely now still coming up in the
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: five o'clock hour. Next actually, we're going to be talking
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: to some folks with Seminal County Government about their Citizens
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: Academy series, a really cool opportunity, family friendly event for
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: the citizens of Seminole County to kind of get behind
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: the scenes peak at how your local government works. A
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: lot of folks, I think just kind of ticket for
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: granted that you know, stuff just gets done without really
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: understanding how, and so we've got some folks coming in
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: to talk to us about that. Late on in the hour,
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: we're going to be doing some trivia courtesy of Brad
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: before we kick it off with some ross thoughts at six,
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: and then the eight bit update with Jaden Grimes later
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: on in the six o'clock hour. So have you guys
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: heard about this new rule passed by Congress last year? Yes,
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: I know you have, Bob, you and I've been discussing
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: this because you're very nervous, and I don't blame you.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: This is a big change for a lot of folks
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: because we have had a completely voluntary military since nineteen
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: seventy three. So the Vietnam War was the last time
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: that the draft was actually used.
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: Correct.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: But it turns out because of that new rule passed
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: by Congress last year, why you don't have to worry
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: about registering. It's going to automatically register eligible men and
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: the selective service or military draft system. So that means
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: you are no longer required to register yourself. The federal
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: government is going to do it for you. And this
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: is this is great news. This is going to apply
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: to most males between eighteen and twenty five years old.
- 1:19:59Speaker 10: I had to go to the post office when I
- 1:20:01Speaker 10: turned eighteen to register. Yeah, I mean, there's no active
- 1:20:06Speaker 10: draft right now, but everyone is supposed to be registered.
- 1:20:09Speaker 10: You're just supposed to do it yourself. Instead, they're saying
- 1:20:12Speaker 10: we got you, we got your info, so we'll just
- 1:20:15Speaker 10: put you on the rolls, all right.
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: Now, keep that same energy for taxes.
- 1:20:20Speaker 10: Listen, this is this country, this experiment, this democracy, this
- 1:20:25Speaker 10: is a shared responsibility, and if we're going to war,
- 1:20:28Speaker 10: it's everyone has to be part of that.
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: Well, not if you're a senator's son.
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: Well, yeah, you know what they should be automatically I mean,
- 1:20:36Speaker 6: because I.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: Mean we're singing the same song in twenty twenty six
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: that we were singing back at the end of the year.
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: Why do they Why did they install this last year
- 1:20:44Speaker 5: with some foresight of what twenty twenty six might look like?
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: You know what I mean, I don't know why did
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: that happen?
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: I just so Currently they would normally self register within
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: thirty days of their eighteenth birthday, but they're allowed to
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: register late without penalty until they turn twenty six. So
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: just you know, women are still exempt from registering. A
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: failure to register, though, is considered a crime that could
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: disqualify you from student loans, most federal jobs, and you
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: a citizenship for immigrants, what.
- 1:21:15Speaker 6: Do you think you need to win a failure to register?
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: So if you don't register, but they're doing it automatically, they're.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: Doing it automatically.
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: So this new rule is going to go into place
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: in December, I believe.
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: So.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Well I'm happy, dude, they don't want me in
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: the military. Man, you're too old. Well I'm good, that's
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: what I'm saying. The army.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: The army, just no, they just changed that. I think
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: now they are accepting in the thirty eight thirty nine.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: I think it's up to forty two as well as tattoos.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: Again, we have met, we have branches. We need to
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: fail you out.
- 1:21:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd be looking in that first row.
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: If there's someone in uniform with a clipboard, you might
- 1:21:52Speaker 5: watch yourself there.
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: I'm thirty six. My reading level is eighth grade, but
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: I look like I'm twelve.
- 1:21:57Speaker 6: I can't.
- 1:21:57Speaker 10: I don't understand why more people do want to be
- 1:21:59Speaker 10: part to the military. It's the way it's being used
- 1:22:03Speaker 10: right now.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: Yeah, according to the Selective Service System, automatic registration will
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: be in place by December twenty twenty six.
- 1:22:12Speaker 10: That's sarcasm.
- 1:22:12Speaker 6: Switch that's on there somewhere is this on?
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: So the US has drafted soldiers to fight and the
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World War I, World War two,
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: the Korean War, and again most recently, the Vietnam War.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: After nine to eleven, it was just like World War Two,
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: especially the attack on Pearl Harbor.
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: You had lots of lots exactly.
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: You had young men who were lying about their age
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: so that they could enlist in the Armed services, saying
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: that they're eighteen when they were really only six seves.
- 1:22:44Speaker 10: You saw influx in absolutely people signing.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Up a lot of people. So yeah, after.
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: Top gun, after top gun.
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: Actually, that's that's actually valid.
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: That is valid.
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: True, that is valid. That is absolutely valid.
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: So I just thought that this was something I I
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: was just surprised myself. I mean, like you said, Jack,
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: we all should have skin in the game. I mean,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: how do you guys feel that women should don't have
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: to register? Do you think that's in twenty twenty six
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: that rules should change?
- 1:23:10Speaker 10: Not in Pete Hegsath's army.
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: You know I could smack that.
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:23:15Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm not sure how we feels about black handed.
- 1:23:18Speaker 10: It's either at least not in the levels of generals
- 1:23:22Speaker 10: and up.
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: Yeah, no, to feed you through to the meat grinder,
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: he'll take you then if he gets to feed you
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: through the meat grinder.
- 1:23:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about it.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: This is a is it a hot take or a
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: cold take? That I do not think that there will
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: be a draft in my lifetime for any younger generation.
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: Is that? Is that like a neutral take? Is that
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: a cold take or a hot No?
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: No, I think it's just an observation.
- 1:23:46Speaker 6: Really.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: I mean you're not making any you know, clarifications or declarations.
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: You're just saying you don't think you're gonna see in
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: your lifetime.
- 1:23:53Speaker 10: Yeah, And warfare has also changed, and there's thought that
- 1:23:57Speaker 10: it you need a small or more elite war mobile,
- 1:24:01Speaker 10: you know, armed forces, and you don't need the the
- 1:24:05Speaker 10: size of army that we once needed during World War Two.
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: Let's just be honest.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: Right now, the war is being waged in memes and
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: Lego movies posted dance and.
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: Right and social media.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: I mean, the social media game has been I mean,
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: who had twenty twenty six having Iran put out a propaganda.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: Video every other day with legos and legos.
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: Doesn't said anything. They're like, just keep going. This looks
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: like we're moving.
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: We're moving some units right now.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: Exactly exactly.
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: We're good with this?
- 1:24:31Speaker 10: Is it ruining our franchise a little bit? Is it
- 1:24:34Speaker 10: going to ruin the trilogy of the Lego movies? Possibly
- 1:24:37Speaker 10: bought exactly pay for this marketing, I know, just making
- 1:24:41Speaker 10: sure so Baron Trump will also be automatically registered.
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: I mean that is the hope, right, Yes, heels furs
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: are hereditary.
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: Yeah, let's hope that.
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: Okay, Again, the country ended conscription and moved to an
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: all untire military in nineteen seventy five. Okay, but President
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: Jimmy Carter brought back registration for the draft in nineteen eighty,
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: and that happened after the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistans.
- 1:25:12Speaker 10: So this is truly this has been happening since nineteen eighty,
- 1:25:16Speaker 10: right for the past forty six years. Were you were
- 1:25:20Speaker 10: supposed to register upon your eighteenth birthday?
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: Ross?
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: Did you register on your eighteenth birthday? I don't even
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: think a lot of young men even knew they.
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: Were supposed to tell that. I didn't know I was
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: supposed to. I got a razor in the mail. Does
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: does that count? Does I mean I registered?
- 1:25:33Speaker 6: Don't think so?
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: Send me a razor.
- 1:25:35Speaker 10: I know I had to go to my post office
- 1:25:37Speaker 10: to do it. Right, you just signed a card and
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: that was it. But this just makes it instead of voluntary,
- 1:25:44Speaker 10: it's just automatic. It was still it wasn't even voluntary.
- 1:25:48Speaker 10: It was mandatory. Just a lot of people weren't doing it.
- 1:25:51Speaker 10: Now it's just going to be automatic.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's where you got the term draft dodgers. You know,
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: people running going a wall and fair.
- 1:25:58Speaker 10: Loan spurs are a legitimate injury deborra.
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: I didn't say it wasn't.
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: That was Ross.
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: I'm looking over Bob, wondering exactly what kind of machinations
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: he's trying to come up?
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: Can I run my kids to another?
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm I'm trying to think of what happened back
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: in nineteen eighty three when I turned eighteen.
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: So I'm just guessing what did I do? Did I
- 1:26:16Speaker 6: check a box somewhere?
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: I don't know. You know, Ross is only thirty six
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: years old.
- 1:26:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I filled out that form allowing me to go
- 1:26:25Speaker 6: into bars and drink. I remember that.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: It would have been eighteen years ago, and he doesn't
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: remember even being asked, which is interesting because it wasn't
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: brought up when you got a driver's license, and that's
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: when I would have thought that it would have been
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: noticed that, hey, you didn't registered.
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: Definitely would have.
- 1:26:38Speaker 5: Piaud my interest if they had said you need to
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: register for the draft. Parton me, professor what.
- 1:26:43Speaker 10: I think that's why they called it selective service, because okay,
- 1:26:46Speaker 10: I don't know where that is.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: Right exactly, just like you know Obamacare, I don't want Obamacare.
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: Yeah, and it would radiar care correct. Ours was a
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: military family. Dad was West Point. We lived on the
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: Air Force Academy, so it's not like it will I
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: would have missed it right exactly, I did.
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: Anyway, I'm here.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: Well, now you know you won't have to worry about
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: doing that because now it will be done for you
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: and for your kids.
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: If you throw the sound here. Is it a draft
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: still like the draft?
- 1:27:16Speaker 6: Isn't You're just registered for it.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you're registering for a draft. If they do a draft,
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: then you can be called up.
- 1:27:23Speaker 10: But it's been since nineteen seventy three was the last
- 1:27:26Speaker 10: time the draft was active.
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: But what I'm hearing though, is that you used to
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: have to register for the draft. You don't have to
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: register for the draft anymore, no, which then kind of
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: makes it seem like there was a there's no more
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: pre draft for the draft. It's just one big draft.
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: Like they are skipping the middleman. Yeah, he is the
- 1:27:43Speaker 4: one where you don't want to be in the first
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: round though exactly.
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: They're skipping you remembering and doing it on your own
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: and saying that's okay, we'll take care of it for you.
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: It's like the government going you will volunteer as.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: True, exactly, and with that, we're gonna go ahead and
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: take a little break and welcome in some folks from
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: Seminole County to talk about their new Citizens Academy series.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: We'll do that next, so keep it here on Real
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: Radio one of four point one.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Today is Mom Beta wa Ross Page sponsored by Josh Como,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: Orlando's injury Attorneys.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: Hey, welcome back to the Jim Culbert Show on Real
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: Radio one of four point one. Hope you're having a fabulous,
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: fabulous Friday afternoon. Finally a gorgeous day to end the
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: work in school week?
- 1:28:35Speaker 19: Right?
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: Am? I?
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: Jim will be back on Monday on the waning days
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: of his vacation.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: Have no fear.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: We've got deb Jack Ross our special guest co host.
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: Today, Bob Fryer, that would be me, that would.
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: Be you, And now joining us are two very interesting
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: folks from Seminole County to explain a little program coming
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: up where the residents of Seminole County can get a
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: behind the scenes look at their local government. So please
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: join me in welcoming. Eric Greeb and Andy wantour.
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: How are you doing?
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: Derek, don't look so nervous. I don't fight unless you ask, Okay,
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: doesn't does? I love how you guys are the ones
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: that are blushing? And Andy or and I are like, hey, whatever,
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: so welcome you guys. I really want to get to
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: the nuts and bolts of this, because I think this
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: is a really great program. It's a great way to
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: give residents, specifically here in Summono County, a chance to,
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: like I said, get that sneak peak. But it's especially
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: important now because our state leaders are having very very
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: serious discussions about getting rid of property taxes in the
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: state of Florida. And while on the surface of that
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: it sounds like a great idea is saving money when
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: everyone could use every little bit every dollar they can make,
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: we're going to be giving up some real services potentially
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: if that does come to pass. So whoever wants to start,
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: what is the goal of the citizens Academies and how
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: many of them are you going to be host?
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: Sure?
- 1:30:00Speaker 20: So, this Citizen's Academy is a six event series that
- 1:30:03Speaker 20: we are hosting from April eighteen to May ninth, And
- 1:30:06Speaker 20: these events are really supposed to give you that behind
- 1:30:09Speaker 20: the scenes look at what your county government does. The
- 1:30:12Speaker 20: typical citizens Academy format is a little bit different. It's
- 1:30:15Speaker 20: you know, twenty individuals who apply for it, who make
- 1:30:17Speaker 20: that time commitment. It's typically of an older generation. It's
- 1:30:21Speaker 20: a lot of work and to make them knowledgeable ambassadors,
- 1:30:24Speaker 20: but you don't get a lot of the bang for
- 1:30:25Speaker 20: the bucks. So this last year we changed up how
- 1:30:28Speaker 20: we host a citizens Academy. We do it as a
- 1:30:30Speaker 20: family fund, a family friendly open house series of events.
- 1:30:34Speaker 20: You can stop in whenever you want. You can go
- 1:30:36Speaker 20: to one event if you have a real interest in it,
- 1:30:38Speaker 20: and then not to the other one. If you have
- 1:30:40Speaker 20: a kid who loves dump trucks, you know where to go.
- 1:30:42Speaker 20: If you have you know you want to see the
- 1:30:43Speaker 20: animal shelter, you know which one to go to. So
- 1:30:46Speaker 20: it's six events that highlights seven of our departments of
- 1:30:48Speaker 20: our county departments and really show you the behind the
- 1:30:51Speaker 20: scenes look at what these individuals do. Staff members are
- 1:30:54Speaker 20: there for you to talk to them, ask questions. We've
- 1:30:56Speaker 20: gotten personal issues resolved while they're It's just a really
- 1:30:59Speaker 20: fantastic opportunity.
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: While I didn't really appreciate you saying looking right at
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: me when you said older generations, I'm just curious, are
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: you hoping for people to become advocates or are you're
- 1:31:09Speaker 5: just educating both?
- 1:31:10Speaker 20: I mean, if you're educating them correctly, I hope that
- 1:31:13Speaker 20: they become an advocate for understanding what it is that
- 1:31:15Speaker 20: county government does and why it's so important to fund
- 1:31:18Speaker 20: it and make sure that Seminole County we're real lucky.
- 1:31:22Speaker 20: We have some really great amenities. We have, you know,
- 1:31:24Speaker 20: our natural choice. We have all the parks and trails
- 1:31:26Speaker 20: those cost money to put on. We have some great roads,
- 1:31:29Speaker 20: and Derek's in charge of all that drainage, all of
- 1:31:31Speaker 20: those things that are so important.
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: A plus school district.
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: Absolutely yeah, and all that takes work, right, it takes
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: community effort and money and money. I mean, it always
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: takes money in order to keep those things up to
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: us snuff. So, Derek, she mentioned that taking care of
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: the roads, what role do you play in someone the
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: county government?
- 1:31:49Speaker 21: So I work for Public Works Roads of Stormwater Division.
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: Oh, you're everyone's favorite person.
- 1:31:53Speaker 8: Yes, we are all the time storms, it doesn't matter. Yeah,
- 1:31:58Speaker 8: we get all the calls. Basically we maintain everything within
- 1:32:01Speaker 8: the right of way and a lot of the ponds
- 1:32:04Speaker 8: and canals and stuff like that throughout Seminole County.
- 1:32:07Speaker 21: So it's just always always busy.
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: That screams like a thankless job and a great time
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: to say thank you.
- 1:32:13Speaker 8: For it. It's fun. We have all the big toys,
- 1:32:17Speaker 8: all the big equipment. So I'm just I'm a I'm
- 1:32:20Speaker 8: a kid playing with big toys.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: I was gonna say, so, it's never really grew up.
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: You just got bigger and better toys. Well, you know,
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: Jack is a resident of Seminole County.
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: I have Derek.
- 1:32:29Speaker 10: What's been the Has it been a different challenge lately?
- 1:32:32Speaker 10: We talk about the storms and the floodings that we
- 1:32:34Speaker 10: had recently, and it seems like these storms are a
- 1:32:38Speaker 10: little more severe. Have you been dealing with new problems
- 1:32:41Speaker 10: and what are some of the new issues that you
- 1:32:43Speaker 10: hadn't seen before that now you have to deal with.
- 1:32:46Speaker 8: Every year we have different situations occurred due to development.
- 1:32:51Speaker 8: You know, a lot of the infrastructure in Seminole County
- 1:32:54Speaker 8: is existing. We're building a lot of subdivisions and a
- 1:32:57Speaker 8: lot of developments. So when that happens, you tend to
- 1:33:01Speaker 8: get some issues. During a storm, those issues occur, we
- 1:33:06Speaker 8: identify the issue and usually take care of the fix it.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: Well, you know, we talked with a Brevard County County
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: official recently. We talked about actually it was wastewater. It
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: dealt with solid waste. Yeah, and the fact that you know,
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: this area is growing so exponentially and growing so quickly,
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: and the need to accommodate all of these new people.
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: What is your what is your greatest challenge with that
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: when it comes to new people moving in and the
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: infrastructure that's already there and making it work so that
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: residents don't you know, make a phone call.
- 1:33:41Speaker 8: Or it's tough at times. It's just a lot of
- 1:33:46Speaker 8: the development. You know, they don't take into account two
- 1:33:50Speaker 8: miles down the road where that water does go right?
- 1:33:52Speaker 8: You know, where where does this water in front of
- 1:33:54Speaker 8: my house go right? It may go two three miles
- 1:33:57Speaker 8: down the road, and they're not looking that far down
- 1:33:59Speaker 8: the road there, looking in front of where they're building
- 1:34:01Speaker 8: this house. So our job is we have to figure
- 1:34:04Speaker 8: out how are we going to take care of this
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: extra water downstream?
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: And I would imagine that being about two months away
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: from the hurricane season. You know, we work with Alan
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: Harris a lot, your emergency management director, who never seems
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: to sleep.
- 1:34:17Speaker 4: He doesn't.
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: He's called at three, Has he really yes?
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: That's so you guys are really busy already getting ahead
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: of what you're anticipating, whether it's a below average storm
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: season or above average. What can you tell residents that
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: you're doing ahead of the storm season to help everyone
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: be prepared.
- 1:34:39Speaker 8: We're proactively out there cleaning, draining structures. We're doing inspections.
- 1:34:45Speaker 8: Our stormwater team they're out cleaning the large canals, always inspecting.
- 1:34:50Speaker 21: Residents call in work orders. Residents help us out.
- 1:34:53Speaker 8: Immensely, and they really don't know what they do when
- 1:34:55Speaker 8: they call in a work order because we're a small crew.
- 1:34:58Speaker 8: I mean we're around a hundred people. We use the
- 1:35:01Speaker 8: residence calling in, they generate a work order. That work
- 1:35:03Speaker 8: order comes to us and we use. They live in
- 1:35:06Speaker 8: the area. We just work in the area, so they're
- 1:35:09Speaker 8: there all the time. So they see something, they call us,
- 1:35:12Speaker 8: generate a work order. We go out and take a
- 1:35:13Speaker 8: look at it. So residents help us out more than
- 1:35:16Speaker 8: they really realize it.
- 1:35:18Speaker 5: What's if property taxes go away? But what sort of
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: drop off we're looking at it? I mean it's got
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: to be a lot, right, I.
- 1:35:25Speaker 20: Mean, if property taxes go away, then that would be
- 1:35:27Speaker 20: just huge on how we're funded. Obviously, some funding is
- 1:35:30Speaker 20: still going to have to come in because there are
- 1:35:33Speaker 20: essential services, but there are other services which can be
- 1:35:36Speaker 20: cut but most people don't actually want them to be cut.
- 1:35:40Speaker 20: So it's discussions and tallahasseen and all that need to
- 1:35:43Speaker 20: take place. But there's no real understanding yet as to
- 1:35:46Speaker 20: how we would continue to get funded if property taxes removed.
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: It's an uphill battle, right Whenever people here, Yeah, I'll
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: cut your taxes. Everyone wants to jump on board. Yeah,
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: it's amazing. Woo, Well they'll pump the brake sold on.
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: Just find out some of those services you brought up,
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: some of the services that people want. Could you give
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: me some of those services that people are looking for
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: that might be on the chopping block if property taxes
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: go away.
- 1:36:13Speaker 20: Parks, trails, libraries, I mean, all of those are things.
- 1:36:16Speaker 20: They're the amenities. They're the things that people moved to
- 1:36:19Speaker 20: Seminole County Ford because we exactly create system. Yeah, but
- 1:36:22Speaker 20: they are the ones that we would be able to
- 1:36:24Speaker 20: get rid of if we had no other option. Right,
- 1:36:26Speaker 20: And that's a horrible thing to say, because that is
- 1:36:29Speaker 20: what makes Semoneal County so great.
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:36:31Speaker 20: But obviously we can't get rid of certain things. No
- 1:36:33Speaker 20: public safety can be affected and art, So where can
- 1:36:37Speaker 20: you cut? It's not things you want to have cut.
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: Which you hate to hear, because I know for myself
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: growing up and for my brother being raised by a
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: single mother, our local library was the place to get movies, books.
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: I mean, it's how my brother became a voracious reader
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: because it was free entertainment, it was quiet, it was safe,
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: it was a place where families can go. And there's
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: butterfly gardens like at my local library.
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: Hell, at my library you can even rent baking pans.
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: So I mean the amenities that you can find in
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: your local library. It's one of the first things I
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: do wherever I move, register to vote and get my
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: library card.
- 1:37:14Speaker 20: Our library system is just fantastic and they are actually
- 1:37:18Speaker 20: the host for our last the sixth one of the
- 1:37:21Speaker 20: Citizens Academy series. It's our Central Branch Library and Castleberry.
- 1:37:24Speaker 20: They're going to be hosting a story time. They'll have
- 1:37:27Speaker 20: all of their amenities availability so people can see what
- 1:37:30Speaker 20: it is that the library does, as well as our
- 1:37:32Speaker 20: parks and trails, our entire department there. So that would
- 1:37:35Speaker 20: be a great event to come by, especially if you
- 1:37:37Speaker 20: have little kids. Yeah, two hours of free entertainment on
- 1:37:40Speaker 20: a Saturday morning, why wouldn't you go?
- 1:37:42Speaker 7: Take it?
- 1:37:43Speaker 18: Mom?
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: And decimal system, right, No, it's important to learn and
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: have you guys, is that maybe a goal for this
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: Citizen's Academy series is to get beyond that usual age group. Specifically,
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: maybe has the time to be able to dedicate this,
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: to reach out to family and say we need our
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: youngest members of our community to be our biggest advocates.
- 1:38:04Speaker 20: Absolutely. Last year we had such a great turnout at
- 1:38:07Speaker 20: our public works event and the guys went all out.
- 1:38:10Speaker 8: So Derek like, so for our Citizens Academy, we have
- 1:38:13Speaker 8: all the equipment. We have the loaders and you know,
- 1:38:16Speaker 8: the excavators. We have our little remote drive. I don't
- 1:38:20Speaker 8: know if you guys can drive home, but.
- 1:38:21Speaker 10: You can protective of what about several county residents.
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: I have my library card, I have mine.
- 1:38:30Speaker 8: Well, we can let you run our little camera that
- 1:38:32Speaker 8: inspects the pipes. We got to set up so you
- 1:38:35Speaker 8: can operate that and run that and you can see
- 1:38:36Speaker 8: how we inspect put that.
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: Camera anywhere I want.
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: Well, I didn't know there was going to be a guidelines.
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: Derek was like, I thought these were adults.
- 1:38:46Speaker 8: You guys are making it very easy. So we have
- 1:38:50Speaker 8: tons of things for the kids to do. The biggest
- 1:38:52Speaker 8: thing is the kids when they show up, they don't
- 1:38:54Speaker 8: realize how big this equipment is and they get to
- 1:38:56Speaker 8: climb up in there and sit in it and get
- 1:38:58Speaker 8: their picture taken in The smileiles on these kids' face
- 1:39:01Speaker 8: is just it's great.
- 1:39:01Speaker 21: They're having the best time.
- 1:39:03Speaker 8: We have a big sand pile so they can play
- 1:39:05Speaker 8: in the sand and dig with smaller toys.
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: Right exactly.
- 1:39:09Speaker 6: So we'll be there with our traffic department.
- 1:39:12Speaker 8: Traffic department will have a tour through their system to
- 1:39:15Speaker 8: show all the cameras in the county and how that operates,
- 1:39:18Speaker 8: their sign shop, how they make signs. An engineering department
- 1:39:22Speaker 8: will be there to explain kind of a lot of
- 1:39:23Speaker 8: our projects, how they get funded, how they get completed,
- 1:39:26Speaker 8: and stuff like that.
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: Cool well being that you know you're in that public
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: works with the storm water and with the roads and such.
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: What is the one thing if you could ask all
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: of the residents of Seminole County to help you, like
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: when it comes to stormwater, right we talk every year
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: about not blowing your grass clippings into the storm drains.
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: What kind of fertilizer to use?
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: What would be your appeal to residents of Seminole county
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: to make your job just a little bit easier.
- 1:39:50Speaker 21: If you see something, let us know, right, that's right.
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: So it's more of a symbiotic relationship than maybe residents
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: are aware.
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, So if you've.
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: Got someone like me who's like, well, I don't I
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: want to call and be a pain a pain and.
- 1:40:02Speaker 8: Then a storm's going to come through and you know,
- 1:40:04Speaker 8: possible flooding, when there's a possibility we could have mitigated
- 1:40:08Speaker 8: that beforehand, right exactly. You know, it's we're not on
- 1:40:12Speaker 8: every road every day. So with the residents, you know,
- 1:40:15Speaker 8: they help us out a.
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: Lot to kind of be like the weather watchers you
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: see in the local news, you know, people chiming in
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: about what kind of weather conditions they're seeing in their area.
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: It helps you out to get a clearer picture of
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: what work needs to be done in your community.
- 1:40:30Speaker 20: Last year's Citizens Academy event was probably one of the
- 1:40:33Speaker 20: best examples of why this is such a great thing
- 1:40:35Speaker 20: to attend is we had one resident who came to
- 1:40:38Speaker 20: the public Works event, talked with Derek, asked about a
- 1:40:41Speaker 20: tree that's dead in her front yard. Wasn't sure if
- 1:40:43Speaker 20: it was in the county right away or on her
- 1:40:45Speaker 20: personal property, you put in a work order, went out there,
- 1:40:48Speaker 20: ended up it was about fifty to fifty so we
- 1:40:50Speaker 20: were able to take care of it for her. She
- 1:40:51Speaker 20: comes to the next Citizen's Academy event, she's like, oh,
- 1:40:54Speaker 20: my tree's gone, I'm all taken care of. I appreciate
- 1:40:56Speaker 20: the fact that I was able to come meet with somebody,
- 1:40:59Speaker 20: get them to talk to it, get them to got
- 1:41:01Speaker 20: out there and look at it, and we solve the
- 1:41:02Speaker 20: problem right away.
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: And sometimes the solution, sorry, Bob, sometimes the solution is
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: just that easy. But you just assume that the county
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: can or will not do it, and really you're just
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: no more than a phone call away.
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: So if it's on their personal property, you're not going
- 1:41:16Speaker 5: to handle it there. No, it has to be on
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: similar county property right in the public right away.
- 1:41:21Speaker 8: So you know, usually a good rule of thumb is
- 1:41:23Speaker 8: if you have sidewalks in front of your house, sidewalk
- 1:41:26Speaker 8: edge of sidewalk.
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: It's not always like that, but that's kind of what
- 1:41:28Speaker 6: we look at. How many pairs of hip waiters do
- 1:41:30Speaker 6: you own?
- 1:41:31Speaker 8: I have none, because get out of here, I have
- 1:41:34Speaker 8: I have crews that do that work.
- 1:41:39Speaker 6: Is no dummy, I've been doing this a long time.
- 1:41:42Speaker 20: Delegation up, Yes, what is it twenty years you've been
- 1:41:48Speaker 20: with the count I've.
- 1:41:48Speaker 21: Been with the county twenty one years.
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:41:50Speaker 8: Construction over thirty five years, So I've done it all.
- 1:41:54Speaker 8: I've started at the bottom running a shovel and I
- 1:41:57Speaker 8: was the guy that had to do everything. Over time,
- 1:42:00Speaker 8: I have moved my way up.
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: So I'm going to say, you've earned your right to
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: give the waiters to the next guy.
- 1:42:05Speaker 8: My biggest thing is, you know, in my position, is
- 1:42:08Speaker 8: managing the crews I have, but also a lot of
- 1:42:12Speaker 8: my work with the residents is educating them what we
- 1:42:15Speaker 8: can do, what we cannot do. I mean, we have
- 1:42:17Speaker 8: policies and procedures. We have to follow most of it
- 1:42:20Speaker 8: when I go out by the time if something gets
- 1:42:22Speaker 8: to me, if my team can't handle it, it's just
- 1:42:24Speaker 8: educating them this is what we can do, this is
- 1:42:26Speaker 8: why we can't do it, you know. So that's a
- 1:42:28Speaker 8: lot of it. The residents don't know. They just maybe
- 1:42:31Speaker 8: they come from another county. Well, this is how they
- 1:42:33Speaker 8: used to do it in.
- 1:42:34Speaker 21: Orange County right.
- 1:42:35Speaker 8: Exactly every country so the policies and procedures are different.
- 1:42:38Speaker 8: So a lot of it is educating it the Citizens Academy.
- 1:42:41Speaker 8: Most of that is all education. I have guys that
- 1:42:44Speaker 8: are at each piece of equipment. They explain what the
- 1:42:46Speaker 8: equipment does to everybody that walks through. Their well versed
- 1:42:50Speaker 8: equipment operators. They know the equipment inside and out, so
- 1:42:54Speaker 8: they can answer questions and they explain right down to
- 1:42:57Speaker 8: the details.
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: Which is cool because for all those people who complain
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: about not knowing or not appreciating where their tax dollars go,
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: this is an opportunity to go out starting on April
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: eighteenth and be able to talk to people who not
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: just know their equipment and their jobs, but they're passionate
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: about that. And that's what you want when your county
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: is being taken care of you, jack.
- 1:43:17Speaker 6: Andy, I see this.
- 1:43:18Speaker 10: This is six separate events over the course of the
- 1:43:21Speaker 10: time summer, at night, somewhere on weekends, somewhere in the morning.
- 1:43:24Speaker 10: Where can anyone go to get more information about the
- 1:43:28Speaker 10: event that might be best for them?
- 1:43:29Speaker 20: Sure so Seminole COUNTYFL dot gov slash academy that has
- 1:43:33Speaker 20: all six events, their locations, their times, whether they're a
- 1:43:36Speaker 20: weekday event or a weekend event, and a little bit
- 1:43:39Speaker 20: of details as to what it is that you'd be

- 1:44:24Speaker 2: a little bit of advocacy on the part of residents
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: saying hey, yeah, I just learned a lot about my
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: local government and please don't touch it.
- 1:44:31Speaker 20: Sure, absolutely, I mean that is what we hope to do,
- 1:44:34Speaker 20: is make these advocates out of these residents and see

- 1:46:07Speaker 22: there's a fire pole that would let you slide down
- 1:46:10Speaker 22: a fire pole into the bar that was on the
- 1:46:12Speaker 22: first floor.
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: Cool, very cool.
- 1:46:18Speaker 6: I want a fire pole.
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: When you leave.
- 1:46:22Speaker 10: Wouldn't that be cool?

- 1:46:26Speaker 6: Sure, four floors, that would be fun.
- 1:46:29Speaker 10: And when you get down there's a powder and suddenly
- 1:46:32Speaker 10: and when you hit that lobby you're either dressed as

- 1:48:02Speaker 1: Hey, Fortunately, this station has listeners that'll do the work
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: just to hear their name on the radio as if
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: AI wasn't enough of a threat to our jobs.
- 1:48:09Speaker 4: It's tough on the Jim Colbert Show.
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: Thank you, Dan Stone. Yeah, this is courtesy of Brad
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: and me. You know how this game is played. I'm
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: gonna make a statement followed by four facts.
- 1:48:21Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: One of those facts, though, is a lie. Find a
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: lie and you get to go to the Jackie Sack.
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: Are you ready?
- 1:48:28Speaker 19: Yees I?
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: Okay, here we go. On this day.
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: Some fifty six years ago, Paul McCartney officially announced the
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: breakup of the Beatles and a press release promoting his
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: solo album. Here are three facts about the Fab four
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: and one lie that will make you twist and show.
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: We see what you did there, Brat, I don't get it.
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: Number one.
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: John Lennon was dyslexic and legally blind. Number two none
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: of the Beatles could read music. Number three He and
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: My Records passed on the Beatles informing their manager that
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: quote guitar groups are on the way out end quote
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: or number four talk about star power. The Beatles became
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: the first band to have their music broadcast into deep space.
- 1:49:13Speaker 3: Amy which one is the lie?
- 1:49:16Speaker 4: Number three?
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: Number three is the lie? Yes, I guess not right off? Rip, Yeah,
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: you got the lie, correct, Amy? Do you know why
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: it's a lie?
- 1:49:31Speaker 9: No?
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: Okay, well it doesn't matter. You've won anyway.
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: We're gonna go ahead and put you on hold, and
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: then you get to pick out the prize of your
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: choice out.
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: Of the Jackie Sack.
- 1:49:40Speaker 6: Usually couldn't that.
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: I did not know that, and I did not know
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: that John Lennon was both dyslexic and legally blind.
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I did not know that.
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: It turns out it's the lie because they did sign
- 1:49:56Speaker 2: with EMI, but that's only after Decca Records foolish declined
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: an offer to sign them. So after they were like, yeah, no,
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: we don't see.
- 1:50:04Speaker 5: That was a trick question because I knew one record
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: company had passed on them.
- 1:50:08Speaker 6: Ah, I didn't know was record.
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: You should have asked Amy. She did not know.
- 1:50:12Speaker 6: She did not know, but she got it right.
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: She did get it right, and she still won the prize.
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: Here are a few more fun facts about the Beatles
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: before we find out what Ross has cooken for.
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: Ross thoughts legally blind, that's why they called it. Imagine wow,
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: I mean he may not be wrong, dude.
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: NASA converted the Beatles across the universe into digital data
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: sent through a transmitter toward Polaris, the North Star, a
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: journey that would take roughly four hundred and thirty one
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: light years.
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: Can you imagine?
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: And now you've got NASA dropping the Spotify song list
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: for Artemis two.
- 1:50:48Speaker 23: Now.
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: The band changed its name a few times, including do
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: you know any of its other iterations?
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: There mister, and.
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: Musician Bob Fryer pally, we should well, we have Johnny
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: and the Moondogs.
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: I didn't know, the Rainbows and British Everly Brothers.
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: The Beatles song you Got to Get You Into My
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: Life is actually about marijuana, oh really, and that is
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: per Paul McCartney.
- 1:51:16Speaker 5: But Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is not about.
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: And they once bought a private island in Greece, seeking
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: peace far from the maddening.
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: Crowds, because of course I could see that if.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: You were a Beatle, you could not go anywhere without
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: throngs of screaming girls and massive crowds everywhere, even ringo.
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: And thank you Brad for trivia Ross. What do you
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: have coming up for Ross?
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: Thoughts? You're real fast because we're talking about fame and
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: throngs of women and all that. Who I've always wondered this,
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: who was more famous, Michael Jackson or the Beatles? I know,
- 1:51:53Speaker 4: different eras, different audiences. I still lean towards Michael Jackson
- 1:52:00Speaker 4: just off of the footage I have, no I'm just
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: going off of a vibe check.
- 1:52:06Speaker 5: I think Michael had maybe more access to a vaster
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: media for that. But I still think I think the
- 1:52:12Speaker 5: Beatles were maybe a bigger.
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: But maybe Michael Jackson was more famous.
- 1:52:20Speaker 10: Maybe, Like I agree with that. Yeah, and they're spread
- 1:52:23Speaker 10: over four And also they were changing the game, you know,
- 1:52:29Speaker 10: they ushered in a new era of music and Michael
- 1:52:32Speaker 10: Jackson elevated it.
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:52:34Speaker 6: Are you looking forward to the new movie coming out?
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: Nope? Nope, zero interest.
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: Real Ross, What do you have coming up for Ross?
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: You want to talk about on the trash?
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: On the trash? He likes on the tracks.
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: I was talking to my wife.
- 1:52:49Speaker 10: You got to be careful when you ask your wife
- 1:52:51Speaker 10: questions because sometimes, you know, I have told you guys before,
- 1:52:54Speaker 10: when I've like put something simple away and my wife
- 1:52:57Speaker 10: looks at me and goes, I'm proud of you, and
- 1:52:59Speaker 10: you're like, hell yeah, wait a second.
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: Is that where the standards are. I gotta do better.
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: But I asked my wife a question, and I then
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: she asked me the same question. I gave her my answer,
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: she gave me hers, and then we both felt like
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: it was necessary to kind of test the waters on
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: that answer and see how comfortable with you are with
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: maybe a fantasy you've always had since you were a
- 1:53:28Speaker 4: little kid. How's that for a tease? Right? That is
- 1:53:30Speaker 4: a tea that's.
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: Right up there with the Star Wars and lea outfit
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: from friends.
- 1:53:34Speaker 6: I was thinking about you.
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: There's also something I still I have a huge bone
- 1:53:38Speaker 4: to pick with Jack as well. This all stemmed from
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: whatever one of the worst takes this man has ever had,
- 1:53:45Speaker 4: and I'm a good enough friend to bring it back
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: up and we'll do I'll listening, go, we'll do.
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: That next to keep it here Real Radio one four
- 1:53:52Speaker 2: point one dude.
- 1:54:02Speaker 14: After morning, Colbert co ruined to our most excellent guest today,
- 1:54:05Speaker 14: Bob Fryar. I love this transparencine government.
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: That's great.
- 1:54:08Speaker 14: Maybe it'll get more people involved, maybe we'll get something
- 1:54:11Speaker 14: fixed in moving in the right direction. All that is awesome,
- 1:54:14Speaker 14: But on another note, I think I'm about to have
- 1:54:16Speaker 14: a friend call Ray friendly because his wife said she
- 1:54:19Speaker 14: was finally divorcing him over his Star Wars obsession. He
- 1:54:22Speaker 14: only had one thing to say about that, may divorce
- 1:54:26Speaker 14: be with you, big out.
- 1:54:30Speaker 5: Oh actually I think it was not a bad joke.
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: I think it was really pretty good.
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: Well, Bob Fryar liked it. There you go, big tape,
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: put that feather and I.
- 1:54:40Speaker 10: Haven't heard it before, So yeah, he gets credit for that.
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: That's something.
- 1:54:43Speaker 2: Hey, welcome back to the Jim Culbert Show, Roll Radio one.
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: Oh four point one. Jim, we'll be back on Monday.

- 1:55:57Speaker 4: dream weekend. Pretty sure. As soon as I I was like, yeah,
- 1:56:01Speaker 4: I'm doing life all right, or so, I thought, oh
- 1:56:07Speaker 4: what happened? Well before I get into this conversation with
- 1:56:10Speaker 4: my wife. This is what stemmed the conversation because sometimes,
- 1:56:14Speaker 4: in fact, this might be the first, only, and my
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: fingers across for the last time that Jack says something
- 1:56:24Speaker 4: in the past that I don't know if I've ever
- 1:56:27Speaker 4: disagreed with you and Jim. By the way, it was
- 1:56:30Speaker 4: one of the very few times that you and Jim
- 1:56:33Speaker 4: were on the same side of an argument and deb
- 1:56:35Speaker 4: and I were on the same side, opposing your ridiculous views.
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: The question went about something like this, would you just
- 1:56:46Speaker 4: take your salary and stay home or would you still
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: go and work? That was the question deb and I
- 1:56:56Speaker 4: looked at it and went, yeah, we'll take the salary
- 1:56:59Speaker 4: and stay hump and Jack goes. You know, actually, I
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: think that it's a little bit harder than you may think.
- 1:57:06Speaker 4: What what what? What? Why? I didn't make any sense
- 1:57:13Speaker 4: to me whatsoever that you, if given the option of
- 1:57:18Speaker 4: making not a dollar more or less, would still be here. Yeah.
- 1:57:24Speaker 3: But he loves it here. He lives to be here.
- 1:57:29Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm trying to remember. There was something about it.
- 1:57:31Speaker 10: I definitely didn't like. It's not that I don't Was
- 1:57:35Speaker 10: it the same salary or was it like at the
- 1:57:38Speaker 10: salary and you're taking off and same salary and you
- 1:57:41Speaker 10: just stay home. Yeah, stay home. You get to do
- 1:57:43Speaker 10: whatever you want.
- 1:57:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I find work rewarding. I wouldn't stay home and
- 1:57:47Speaker 5: just get paid to do nothing.
- 1:57:49Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, that's fine. You can still work. You
- 1:57:51Speaker 4: can go do a puzzle, you can still do stuff.
- 1:57:56Speaker 10: Anything, A thousand how many pieces?
- 1:58:02Speaker 4: Okay?
- 1:58:03Speaker 10: A puzzle was a bad eye exam? Okay, all right,
- 1:58:06Speaker 10: I apologize about the puzzle.
- 1:58:09Speaker 4: I'm just I could I could direct traffic.
- 1:58:12Speaker 5: I could stand in the middle of an intersection direct
- 1:58:14Speaker 5: traffic and get paid the same amount of money.
- 1:58:15Speaker 6: But you could, like, I think that's illegal.
- 1:58:17Speaker 4: You can fall in love with like a hobby or something.
- 1:58:20Speaker 6: Now that's not work. That's a hobby.
- 1:58:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, or a hobby or doing something to a
- 1:58:25Speaker 4: high enough degree where it might turn a buck jack.
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: Rather go ahead and just not experience any of this.
- 1:58:32Speaker 6: Sorry, I like my job.
- 1:58:35Speaker 5: I've had this discussion with people too that I still
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: enjoy your work ethic.
- 1:58:39Speaker 6: I like to show up to work. I like to
- 1:58:41Speaker 6: be at work.
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: Well, maybe volunteering could be. Maybe volunteering could be your
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: new work.
- 1:58:46Speaker 5: Yeah, they can live without me when I'm volunteering. I
- 1:58:48Speaker 5: like to think the place needs me a little bit.
- 1:58:50Speaker 6: Yeah, and you could volunteer when I retire.
- 1:58:52Speaker 4: You can have hard work, work ethic, all of that
- 1:58:56Speaker 4: without a job. Is that crazy? Is that crazy to
- 1:59:01Speaker 4: say you can have hard work, work ethic, all of
- 1:59:03Speaker 4: the things that make that brow a little bit sweatier,
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: but still without the nine to five job. Maybe maybe
- 1:59:11Speaker 4: I'm just here to remind you that that's a possibility.
- 1:59:14Speaker 6: Jim was of the mind that he would take the
- 1:59:15Speaker 6: money and say stay home.
- 1:59:16Speaker 19: No.
- 1:59:17Speaker 4: Jim was like, no, I got to work. And I'm like,
- 1:59:19Speaker 4: what what what world are we living in when if
- 1:59:23Speaker 4: the option is not a dollar more, not a dollar less,
- 1:59:26Speaker 4: you stay home and then you get to do whatever
- 1:59:29Speaker 4: you wish, right that you're just on a full time,
- 1:59:34Speaker 4: paid vacation.
- 1:59:35Speaker 5: At the risk of speaking for Jim a little bit,
- 1:59:37Speaker 5: he and I have had this discussion before and he
- 1:59:39Speaker 5: he espoused the opposite of that, that he, you know,
- 1:59:44Speaker 5: he likes this job, but it's not his you know,
- 1:59:47Speaker 5: he's life or death.
- 1:59:48Speaker 4: Yeah, he's also not here right now. My point what
- 1:59:53Speaker 4: I'm saying, he's a paid vacation, right. I think I
- 1:59:56Speaker 4: have no idea, but I so I'm bringing this up
- 1:59:59Speaker 4: to my wife last night, and she asked me. She goes, well,
- 2:00:02Speaker 4: if you could do it all over again, if you could,
- 2:00:06Speaker 4: if you could go back to page one and then
- 2:00:08Speaker 4: choose your profession. There is no money in this question.
- 2:00:11Speaker 4: There is no dollar per hour here. You can choose
- 2:00:16Speaker 4: whatever profession it is. The end result is the same
- 2:00:20Speaker 4: exact dollar amount that you make right now.
- 2:00:23Speaker 3: All right?
- 2:00:23Speaker 4: Oh, and Jack, if you say radio. You are more
- 2:00:29Speaker 4: than radio. You are more than the opportunity that you
- 2:00:32Speaker 4: signed up for these decades ago. What are you going
- 2:00:37Speaker 4: to be?
- 2:00:38Speaker 10: Same money, same money, condemn tester.
- 2:00:41Speaker 4: Okay, I don't even know. I mean that could go
- 2:00:49Speaker 4: two ways. I'm not gonna lie there, Jack, that could
- 2:00:51Speaker 4: be a go for you. Now you're in Orlando, Bud,
- 2:00:55Speaker 4: so that might be a con.
- 2:00:58Speaker 6: It'sainly not a pro a job.
- 2:01:03Speaker 10: Rock start a musician maybe, yeah, okay.
- 2:01:06Speaker 4: All right, now follow up question what instrument?
- 2:01:09Speaker 6: Guitar?
- 2:01:10Speaker 4: So you have this deep, deep fantasy dream of being
- 2:01:15Speaker 4: a guitar player? Yeah, what was the last time you
- 2:01:18Speaker 4: had to blow so much dust off of that thought? Oh?
- 2:01:21Speaker 4: I thought.
- 2:01:23Speaker 6: You got to waiting just cherry picking that one.
- 2:01:27Speaker 4: Weren't you? You are? You got to come out of
- 2:01:31Speaker 4: your guitar closet, okay, and you got to come out
- 2:01:35Speaker 4: of your guitar case. You got to start photosynthesizing that seed.
- 2:01:40Speaker 4: Deb anything. There's art, right, Dan, artists rip up a
- 2:01:46Speaker 4: canvas yep, Bob.
- 2:01:47Speaker 5: Having walked around the halls here at one of four
- 2:01:50Speaker 5: a real radio, I did see all the pictures of
- 2:01:53Speaker 5: rock bands up up there, and I thought about that
- 2:01:55Speaker 5: that it would have been fun to be, you know,
- 2:01:57Speaker 5: part of like the Eagles back in the day, even
- 2:02:00Speaker 5: though I've seen the DVD of you know, all their
- 2:02:03Speaker 5: trials and tribulations.
- 2:02:04Speaker 6: That would have been been fun to be a part
- 2:02:06Speaker 6: of that.
- 2:02:08Speaker 5: Or if I had stayed in TV, I would rather
- 2:02:11Speaker 5: have been a weatherman rather than doing news.
- 2:02:14Speaker 4: I just enjoyed the weather more so.
- 2:02:16Speaker 6: Really, yeah, I just enjoy weather.
- 2:02:18Speaker 4: All of yours is a lot smarter than what I
- 2:02:20Speaker 4: told my wife. I said, Lumberjack, Oh, he's a lumber dick,
- 2:02:25Speaker 4: and he's he really did like dude. If I could
- 2:02:28Speaker 4: go back, I would, I would Jackson Lumber. I would.
- 2:02:32Speaker 6: Maybe that's more in the line of what I wanted
- 2:02:34Speaker 6: to do.
- 2:02:36Speaker 4: I don't know. I've ever since I can remember, the
- 2:02:41Speaker 4: definition of a man has been the brawny dude flannel
- 2:02:44Speaker 4: acts killing it and the commercials were bad ass too,
- 2:02:49Speaker 4: So I don't know. I think I would love to
- 2:02:51Speaker 4: get my hands in wood. But now I feel like
- 2:02:56Speaker 4: I feel that I have to do that. I think
- 2:02:58Speaker 4: I feel like I didn't even say it wrapped around
- 2:03:01Speaker 4: tight or anything like that.
- 2:03:03Speaker 10: I'm put my hands caressing some lumber.
- 2:03:09Speaker 4: I'll lean into it.
- 2:03:11Speaker 6: Well, this has been fun.
- 2:03:12Speaker 4: I've to catch I'll tickle the bottom of the lumber
- 2:03:16Speaker 4: I'll triple down on this. Is that sap? God?
- 2:03:20Speaker 10: I hope, But I've always wanted to be a wood guy.
- 2:03:28Speaker 6: Well hang on, and your wife wasn't down for this.
- 2:03:30Speaker 10: No, she laughed at me because she knows along with
- 2:03:34Speaker 10: the listeners, I'm anti would I'm not. I'm full city
- 2:03:40Speaker 10: slick and I have never chopped anything.
- 2:03:44Speaker 4: I'm not break twigs. And I'm like, you see that, Huh,
- 2:03:48Speaker 4: that's like I'm not a woodsman and.
- 2:03:53Speaker 6: This is a fantasy.
- 2:03:54Speaker 10: Well, I'm willing to learn if I was six years
- 2:03:57Speaker 10: old again, if if I didn't know I had that
- 2:04:02Speaker 10: at six years old?
- 2:04:03Speaker 6: What is it about being a lumberjack that.
- 2:04:07Speaker 3: If it's the flannel shirt, I'll get you one.
- 2:04:09Speaker 6: Christmas, I can get you some brownie towels right now.
- 2:04:11Speaker 4: It's not the flannel shirt, it's just the overall vibe.
- 2:04:14Speaker 10: It's like this, It's like this man scent that comes
- 2:04:17Speaker 10: along with it.
- 2:04:18Speaker 4: I can't grow facial hair. I want to wear a
- 2:04:20Speaker 4: beanie when I really don't need to, and I want
- 2:04:23Speaker 4: to chop down pieces of wood, and then I don't know,
- 2:04:27Speaker 4: it just seems like such a mainly thing. And that's
- 2:04:30Speaker 4: why my wife laughed, because I'm pretty far away from mainly.
- 2:04:33Speaker 2: I guess swinging and axe at home, you know, but
- 2:04:38Speaker 2: take your shirt off in the backyard, start swinging an axe,
- 2:04:42Speaker 2: taking out that stuffy my body.
- 2:04:45Speaker 3: Sure what you got?
- 2:04:46Speaker 4: My body has gotten so bad. It's so bad.
- 2:04:50Speaker 5: I don't think there's a criteria or you know, a
- 2:04:52Speaker 5: level you got to be to be a lumberjack.
- 2:04:55Speaker 4: I have the pigment right now of like uncooked biscuits.
- 2:05:01Speaker 3: That doesn't stop you from being a lumberjack.
- 2:05:03Speaker 4: Ross.
- 2:05:04Speaker 2: You're the color of biscuits because you spend all your
- 2:05:06Speaker 2: time under the tree.
- 2:05:07Speaker 10: But you guys never like ever fantasize of like I
- 2:05:10Speaker 10: want your lumberjack. If you were on a different trajectory
- 2:05:13Speaker 10: other than this, then like, what would have that what
- 2:05:16Speaker 10: would that freedom amount to?
- 2:05:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd be a hippie living in a vardo driving
- 2:05:21Speaker 2: around the country.
- 2:05:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd have one of those really big you know,
- 2:05:26Speaker 5: uh Winnebago's r v's or something, and I just go
- 2:05:29Speaker 5: around the country with the band.
- 2:05:30Speaker 4: Oh my goodness.
- 2:05:31Speaker 10: Yeah, I'd entertain the idea of being a Theian.
- 2:05:34Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I heard you were in college. Look at
- 2:05:38Speaker 4: you see. That might be the more honest moment right there.
- 2:05:42Speaker 4: I'll entertain the idea of being a.
- 2:05:45Speaker 10: Thesbian like a film or on stage, either or both,
- 2:05:52Speaker 10: probably TV.
- 2:05:53Speaker 6: I like the hours better.
- 2:05:54Speaker 5: There you go, I'd be I'd be a voiceover actor
- 2:05:58Speaker 5: on the Simpsons, I'd do something.
- 2:06:00Speaker 4: There you go. And what I'm so afraid of too,
- 2:06:03Speaker 4: is as I get older and time seems to not
- 2:06:06Speaker 4: be twenty four hours in a day now it feels
- 2:06:09Speaker 4: roughly like fifteen, and time just keeps going by faster
- 2:06:12Speaker 4: and faster, and that real estate to go ahead and
- 2:06:16Speaker 4: water those seeds of like I kind of always wanted
- 2:06:19Speaker 4: to be a guitar player, or be in a band
- 2:06:21Speaker 4: and link up with the friends, or just paint on canvas. Man,
- 2:06:25Speaker 4: that time.
- 2:06:27Speaker 10: Is slipping away, priceless, And I don't know what it
- 2:06:31Speaker 10: is that your twenties can do to your brain that
- 2:06:35Speaker 10: lets that that room kind of get amplified. But boy, adulthood,
- 2:06:41Speaker 10: it just steps in and goes Bill's w two's front yard,
- 2:06:46Speaker 10: backyard scroll like share story, social media, and then at
- 2:06:51Speaker 10: the end of it you go like, ah, man, I
- 2:06:54Speaker 10: never picked up that guitar, So keep your third eye
- 2:06:57Speaker 10: on that. Okay, all right, find out whatever your guitar
- 2:07:00Speaker 10: is in this metaphor and put you're worth, putting yourself
- 2:07:06Speaker 10: into your own dreams.
- 2:07:08Speaker 6: Yeah, seize the day.
- 2:07:10Speaker 4: So have you seen me?
- 2:07:11Speaker 10: If you see if I'm if I'm holding an axe,
- 2:07:16Speaker 10: y'all better not laugh, all right, if you're holding if
- 2:07:19Speaker 10: you're holding an axe, I'm not laughing exactly.
- 2:07:23Speaker 4: There you go. I'm holding an ax, going, I promise,
- 2:07:25Speaker 4: I'm going with it. And that's my axe. My axe
- 2:07:30Speaker 4: is guitar jack.
- 2:07:32Speaker 6: Yeah, that's my axe.
- 2:07:33Speaker 4: Sick. They got really cute and flirtations at the end.
- 2:07:37Speaker 4: Those are ross thoughts. I'm out piece, find your guitar,
- 2:07:41Speaker 4: find out, pick up your axe.
- 2:07:42Speaker 2: What we're gonna do now is take a little break,
- 2:07:44Speaker 2: and then it's time to do the eight bit update
- 2:07:46Speaker 2: with Jaden Grimes as he gives us the latest update

- 2:07:51Speaker 3: One of four point one.
- 2:07:57Speaker 19: Wow, one hundred those So, how much did the hot
- 2:08:02Speaker 19: ball guys make it?
- 2:08:02Speaker 4: Tips?
- 2:08:03Speaker 19: Twenty three thousand dollars. At least that'll make the stream
- 2:08:07Speaker 19: hot no.
- 2:08:08Speaker 6: Hot, no hot no.

- 2:08:49Speaker 1: your quick hit on gaming news, reviews, and a little

- 2:08:59Speaker 2: Put you as together for grinds a week treating you
- 2:09:04Speaker 2: jaydon Oh, it's doing good.
- 2:09:06Speaker 12: It's Friday, so that's always a glorious thing. Weekends mean
- 2:09:09Speaker 12: nothing to me though I am working, of course, are
- 2:09:12Speaker 12: you really twenty eight days in a row?
- 2:09:13Speaker 4: Actually?
- 2:09:14Speaker 6: Have you ever thought about being a lumberjack?
- 2:09:16Speaker 4: I should? I should. It's cutting down trees. Yeah, one
- 2:09:21Speaker 4: of my biggest dreams. I will fulfill it. I'll chop
- 2:09:24Speaker 4: down something by the end of the year. I don't
- 2:09:26Speaker 4: even trust myself with an axe.
- 2:09:28Speaker 12: I'd pick it up over my head and I'd probably
- 2:09:29Speaker 12: start stumbling backwards. Being realistic here.
- 2:09:34Speaker 3: So what do you got for us in the world
- 2:09:35Speaker 3: of gaming? Anything?
- 2:09:37Speaker 12: Not super much. This week, before I even got into
- 2:09:39Speaker 12: any of that, we were having a very big debate
- 2:09:42Speaker 12: on our show today over on ninety six point nine.
- 2:09:44Speaker 12: I wanted to get your opinion on this all, right,
- 2:09:46Speaker 12: streaming services. Yeah, I'm not spending more than like fifteen
- 2:09:50Speaker 12: to twenty dollars. Twenty dollars is pushing it even for
- 2:09:52Speaker 12: me per month. Yes, I'm not even spending twenty dollars.
- 2:09:57Speaker 12: That's pushing it for me. I want to know how
- 2:09:59Speaker 12: much are you on a streaming service, Like what is
- 2:10:01Speaker 12: your max?
- 2:10:02Speaker 3: Oh that's when you got Jack to sit up straight
- 2:10:04Speaker 3: in the seat, Jack.
- 2:10:05Speaker 6: Yeah, well it depends right.
- 2:10:07Speaker 10: First of all, you have choices, because now they have
- 2:10:09Speaker 10: the cheapest one as the most ads. And yes, I
- 2:10:13Speaker 10: have traded my time to watch commercials to get a
- 2:10:16Speaker 10: cheaper price on streaming services. But I do have a
- 2:10:20Speaker 10: few Apple, HBO, Netflix, Disney, and I only have Disney
- 2:10:27Speaker 10: because I'm doing one of these two ninety nine for
- 2:10:29Speaker 10: three month deals and it's gone.
- 2:10:32Speaker 4: Oh that sucks.
- 2:10:33Speaker 6: Yeah, I just wait.
- 2:10:33Speaker 10: I just wait for like that PARAMOUNTAL offer it every
- 2:10:36Speaker 10: once in a while, like if it's less than five bucks,
- 2:10:38Speaker 10: I'll jump on it for that limited time and out.
- 2:10:41Speaker 21: Get out of there yet five thousand.
- 2:10:42Speaker 12: I try to do Disney Plus recently, and I got
- 2:10:45Speaker 12: the ad version. Dude, there's ads every two seconds in
- 2:10:49Speaker 12: I can't even watch it. I canceled it, like in
- 2:10:51Speaker 12: two seconds. I was like, I'd even get through the
- 2:10:52Speaker 12: first episode of Daredevil. There was I couldn't do it.
- 2:10:56Speaker 10: I'm watching and or oh, how's that? It's really good.
- 2:10:58Speaker 12: Actually, I'm not gonna watch it because there's ads.
- 2:11:02Speaker 6: Paradise second season.
- 2:11:03Speaker 10: I'm with you, Bob, down to the last couple episodes.
- 2:11:08Speaker 10: I think I have two episodes left in that, but I'm.
- 2:11:12Speaker 6: Thinking about springing the seven bucks.
- 2:11:13Speaker 5: I don't get Yeah, exactly, I would do it if
- 2:11:15Speaker 5: you guys, m.
- 2:11:18Speaker 12: That's my thing. I don't even watch TV as it is.
- 2:11:20Speaker 12: I play video games because I have a controller in
- 2:11:22Speaker 12: my hand, and I don't get bored when I'm watching TV.
- 2:11:25Speaker 12: I get so bored so quick. And if you're giving
- 2:11:27Speaker 12: me thirty minutes of ads. I'm done, dude, I'm not
- 2:11:29Speaker 12: even going to finish that episode. So I just want
- 2:11:31Speaker 12: to see how you guys just felt about that.
- 2:11:33Speaker 4: And by the way, you're not wrong, but if you
- 2:11:35Speaker 4: were wondering what happened to TV, point to that. That's
- 2:11:40Speaker 4: point to that last two to three complete sentences that
- 2:11:44Speaker 4: you just said. Generations different people, they're coming in, they
- 2:11:47Speaker 4: don't understand why would you put an ad there?
- 2:11:51Speaker 12: Well, okay, sometimes it's a little unnecessary. Like I was
- 2:11:54Speaker 12: watching Daredevil and the music was getting all intense and
- 2:11:57Speaker 12: no joke is on, and then it just hit me
- 2:12:00Speaker 12: with an AD.
- 2:12:00Speaker 6: It's just rude.
- 2:12:02Speaker 4: Different And then previous generations you would have them in
- 2:12:05Speaker 4: the script. You would have ad breaks baked into the script.
- 2:12:09Speaker 4: You would have the crescendoed Cliffhanger commercial. So now even
- 2:12:14Speaker 4: the content is worse for people when it comes to
- 2:12:16Speaker 4: it just.
- 2:12:17Speaker 6: Cuts in out of nowhere. Yeah, right in the middle
- 2:12:19Speaker 6: of it just stops.
- 2:12:20Speaker 4: You know, let's revolt.
- 2:12:22Speaker 12: I agree, let's overthrow all these streaming companies.
- 2:12:27Speaker 10: I need to finish the Pit and Paradise first, then
- 2:12:29Speaker 10: I'll revolt, then.
- 2:12:30Speaker 4: I'll get We'll wait for you, but hurry up, man,
- 2:12:33Speaker 4: highest number first streaming thing. I turned my Xbox game
- 2:12:37Speaker 4: Pass off because it was thirty bucks a month.
- 2:12:40Speaker 12: Yep, yeah, that's the highest. I okay, I said twenty dollars,
- 2:12:42Speaker 12: but I'll pay for game Pass and he did the week,
- 2:12:44Speaker 12: So thirty dollars.
- 2:12:45Speaker 4: You got me. And I still think for thirty dollars,
- 2:12:48Speaker 4: that's like the the best subscription. I just knew that
- 2:12:51Speaker 4: I wasn't going to I had games that I wanted
- 2:12:53Speaker 4: to play that were not going to be needing game Pass.
- 2:12:57Speaker 12: Fair enough, speaking of all these streaming services and everything,
- 2:13:00Speaker 12: a new Star Wars show centered around Darth Maule got
- 2:13:04Speaker 12: like a little TV show because Star Wars does everything nowadays.
- 2:13:06Speaker 12: One of my favorite characters, and he had a video
- 2:13:08Speaker 12: game canceled ten years ago. At this point, right before
- 2:13:13Speaker 12: Disney's Soul or Star Wars sold to Disney Lucas, that
- 2:13:17Speaker 12: whole lucasfilm transaction and everything. They had this Darth Maul
- 2:13:20Speaker 12: game that was in the works. It was basically done
- 2:13:23Speaker 12: pretty much. They had you can go watch the concept
- 2:13:25Speaker 12: video games of it on YouTube right now. Like the
- 2:13:28Speaker 12: game looked pretty good, and they canceled it because it didn't.
- 2:13:31Speaker 12: It just didn't. It's not what Disney wanted. They bought
- 2:13:33Speaker 12: the franchise to do what they wanted, and it just
- 2:13:36Speaker 12: didn't fit the scheme. George Lucas was all over that game.
- 2:13:38Speaker 12: He changed a bunch of things to it. It was
- 2:13:41Speaker 12: like a real George Lucas vision, and they canceled it.
- 2:13:44Speaker 12: But now Kathleen Kennedy's gone. Yeah, yeah, she's she's gone.
- 2:13:49Speaker 12: They started this Darth maulk show and it's it has
- 2:13:52Speaker 12: pretty good reviews. The voice of Darth Maul, Sam Whitworth,
- 2:13:56Speaker 12: has been pushing for the Darth Maul video game, probably
- 2:13:59Speaker 12: not the same exact version of it, but a new
- 2:14:02Speaker 12: one to come along, and I think that would be
- 2:14:03Speaker 12: really cool, especially in the world of Star Wars gaming.
- 2:14:06Speaker 12: There's nothing so something that's actually appealing to fans's it
- 2:14:10Speaker 12: sounds like a good idea to me, me too, Yeah,
- 2:14:13Speaker 12: I'm glad you agree.
- 2:14:14Speaker 6: Battlefront two is not a new game.
- 2:14:16Speaker 12: No, that game's been out for a very long time,
- 2:14:17Speaker 12: but it's making a comeback right now.
- 2:14:20Speaker 4: Playing it last night.
- 2:14:20Speaker 12: Yeah, last week I was talking to Jimmy about modding
- 2:14:23Speaker 12: video games and everything like that, and it has a
- 2:14:25Speaker 12: huge modding community where they like, they gave the game
- 2:14:28Speaker 12: a new life and it changed the game completely. I
- 2:14:31Speaker 12: play it to this day, but it has whole new
- 2:14:33Speaker 12: characters in it, whole new maps. So yeah, the community
- 2:14:36Speaker 12: builds this game. There's a new game coming out next
- 2:14:39Speaker 12: week that I've been really excited for.
- 2:14:41Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:14:42Speaker 12: It's it's hand drawn. A lot of over forty five
- 2:14:45Speaker 12: thousand of the animations are hand drawn. It's meant to
- 2:14:48Speaker 12: look like it's in the nineteen thirties, nineteen forties. It's
- 2:14:50Speaker 12: all black and white.
- 2:14:51Speaker 3: New war so yeah, film noir.
- 2:14:54Speaker 12: Yeah, it's really cool. It's called mouse Pi for Hire.
- 2:14:57Speaker 4: So you guys know this game is going to This
- 2:15:01Speaker 4: is a lawsuit pending. I'm surprised it even exists. I
- 2:15:06Speaker 4: love that it exists. It's amazing. Deb You have to
- 2:15:09Speaker 4: see the animation of looking at your game.
- 2:15:10Speaker 3: Yeah, look bring it up.
- 2:15:11Speaker 2: It looks a little similar to another small roade it.
- 2:15:14Speaker 2: We may be somewhat familiar with WHOA.
- 2:15:16Speaker 12: I figured you guys would know. The very first version
- 2:15:19Speaker 12: of Mickey Mouse is fair use nowadays.
- 2:15:21Speaker 4: Yeah, anyone's movie made that horror movie exactly.
- 2:15:24Speaker 12: They did the same thing with Winnie the Pooh and
- 2:15:26Speaker 12: this is just another example of what you can do
- 2:15:28Speaker 12: with the character. They kind of taken this whole style
- 2:15:31Speaker 12: of nineteen thirties nineteen forties Disney animation. It looks awesome.
- 2:15:38Speaker 12: I cannot wait for this game.
- 2:15:39Speaker 4: It's it's a nineteen yeah forties first person shooter where
- 2:15:46Speaker 4: you are a cartoon mouse, and uh, it's awesome. It's
- 2:15:51Speaker 4: so cool.
- 2:15:51Speaker 6: I think I'm in just like they're doing fantastic. This
- 2:15:54Speaker 6: would be fantastic exactly.
- 2:15:56Speaker 12: It comes out as thirty dollars, and nowadays that is
- 2:15:59Speaker 12: a organ for a video game, because GTA six, as
- 2:16:03Speaker 12: we were talking about, could be in the triple digits.
- 2:16:05Speaker 12: What are you thinking it's going to be, Well, we
- 2:16:07Speaker 12: actually just got an official report.
- 2:16:09Speaker 4: Oh really, it's insane base game, the base Boy base
- 2:16:13Speaker 4: game game Boy.
- 2:16:14Speaker 6: Yeah, that's that's not a bad nickname for you.
- 2:16:17Speaker 12: That's copyrighted.
- 2:16:19Speaker 4: I think it might be.
- 2:16:20Speaker 12: That's something about that just sounds copyrighted.
- 2:16:22Speaker 4: I know it's spelled with an eye at the end.
- 2:16:24Speaker 12: Oh okay, there we go, smart thinking it's actually the
- 2:16:27Speaker 12: base game. No add ons, no, like, you know, give
- 2:16:30Speaker 12: me a couple of add ons whatever. Seventy to eighty dollars.
- 2:16:34Speaker 12: That's fine, that's that's a modern day video game.
- 2:16:37Speaker 10: Last they were six.
- 2:16:39Speaker 12: Okay, listen, but prices prices up. You can blame Nintendo.
- 2:16:42Speaker 12: Blame Look at the Nintendo guy over there and blame him.
- 2:16:45Speaker 6: Thanks Ross.
- 2:16:45Speaker 12: Yeah, he's buying all those Nintendo games. They he stocked
- 2:16:48Speaker 12: the price.
- 2:16:48Speaker 4: I bought one seventy dollars video game shoot me.
- 2:16:53Speaker 12: I think I will, Okay, I have kidding Mickey mout yeah,
- 2:16:57Speaker 12: Mickey Mouse and p I for hire.
- 2:16:59Speaker 10: So seventy bucks or so for grand Theft Auto six.
- 2:17:02Speaker 10: This strip just the basic game, but when you have
- 2:17:06Speaker 10: you can buy it so for future updates you get
- 2:17:09Speaker 10: all of that stuff included, Like what's the top level
- 2:17:11Speaker 10: we're looking at it.
- 2:17:12Speaker 12: We don't know anything like that yet. Pre order is
- 2:17:14Speaker 12: not even for release. But if when GTA comes out,
- 2:17:18Speaker 12: it won't have online with it. It usually takes a
- 2:17:20Speaker 12: couple months to come with it. I'm just imagining you'll
- 2:17:23Speaker 12: get some bonus dollars in online and stuff like that.
- 2:17:25Speaker 12: Nothing too crazy. You can't really do much with the
- 2:17:27Speaker 12: GTA add on. They don't do DLC or anything like that.
- 2:17:30Speaker 12: It's not like you get a season pass if you
- 2:17:31Speaker 12: pre order anything.
- 2:17:32Speaker 10: You know what I mean, well, they don't for online,
- 2:17:35Speaker 10: don't they have like extra missions?
- 2:17:37Speaker 4: All that's free? Is it? Yeah?
- 2:17:39Speaker 12: Every every GTA update is free when it comes to
- 2:17:42Speaker 12: online because they know you'll spend money on the Shark cards.
- 2:17:44Speaker 10: How are they making the ten how do they make
- 2:17:46Speaker 10: ten billion dollars?
- 2:17:47Speaker 4: Then a Shark cards.
- 2:17:49Speaker 12: Base sale games? And then if you never play GC online,
- 2:17:51Speaker 12: Shark cards are like money you can buy. It's in
- 2:17:54Speaker 12: game money you can buy with real money. Yeah, I know,
- 2:17:58Speaker 12: I know I've spent I've spent a good amount of
- 2:17:59Speaker 12: money on Shark cards. Unfortunately.
- 2:18:01Speaker 4: Yeah it works.
- 2:18:03Speaker 12: Yeah I did, I mean twenty dollars for a million dollars? Yeah?
- 2:18:06Speaker 4: Sure?
- 2:18:06Speaker 6: Why not? First?
- 2:18:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I think we talked about it before,
- 2:18:16Speaker 4: but it's still gobsmacked me. Two billion. It costs two
- 2:18:21Speaker 4: billion dollars to make this video game.
- 2:18:23Speaker 10: It's closing and by that time they're done, they say
- 2:18:25Speaker 10: they could be close.
- 2:18:26Speaker 12: To three three It probably will hit three billion by
- 2:18:29Speaker 12: time because they'll probably have to, you know, reshoot some
- 2:18:31Speaker 12: things and everything.
- 2:18:33Speaker 4: Maybe I'm going out on a plank here, but I
- 2:18:35Speaker 4: think this will be the biggest piece of entertainment anything
- 2:18:40Speaker 4: ever of all time. I got an email I thought
- 2:18:44Speaker 4: this was insane. I got an email letting me know
- 2:18:47Speaker 4: that England, the men's national team, have a warm up
- 2:18:51Speaker 4: match in Internco Stadium and all of England's marketing is
- 2:18:57Speaker 4: GTA six because they're in Florida.
- 2:19:00Speaker 3: Oh that's genius.
- 2:19:02Speaker 4: The men's national team for England is leaning into the
- 2:19:06Speaker 4: rock star marketing that is GTA six. I believe it was.
- 2:19:09Speaker 4: It's getting close because massive marketing for GTA six just started.
- 2:19:14Speaker 4: I believe this last week.
- 2:19:16Speaker 12: Yeah, well, it comes out I think seven months or something.
- 2:19:19Speaker 6: No better, let's go on November.
- 2:19:21Speaker 4: Get here, let's go, baby.
- 2:19:25Speaker 10: This is the most hyped video game, but it could
- 2:19:28Speaker 10: be the biggest flop ever.
- 2:19:30Speaker 4: Could it could?
- 2:19:32Speaker 12: Realistically, you spend three billion dollars on anything, how do
- 2:19:36Speaker 12: you make money back like that?
- 2:19:37Speaker 6: You guys like you for a million?
- 2:19:40Speaker 12: Yeah, I guess you got a point exactly.
- 2:19:43Speaker 10: No, because I think we talked about this last week
- 2:19:45Speaker 10: that GTA five costs what two hundred million?
- 2:19:48Speaker 12: Yeah, I think it might have been a closer to
- 2:19:50Speaker 12: three hundred Yeah, okay.
- 2:19:51Speaker 10: And then over the course of the run of the
- 2:19:54Speaker 10: sixteen years or so, it took in ten billion.
- 2:19:57Speaker 12: Yeah. I mean, I guess you got a point three
- 2:19:59Speaker 12: bi that's so much money.
- 2:20:01Speaker 4: It's gonna take.
- 2:20:02Speaker 12: Years to make profit off that. You would think, right,
- 2:20:05Speaker 12: it will take years. Yeah, I just I don't know.
- 2:20:08Speaker 12: I'm part of me is kind of skeptical. But Rockstar
- 2:20:10Speaker 12: has also never flopped. Yeah, it's all, but it's always
- 2:20:13Speaker 12: time for a flop. You never know. With with all
- 2:20:16Speaker 12: these games and how they're gonna launch nowadays, they could
- 2:20:18Speaker 12: launch horrible.
- 2:20:19Speaker 10: Well g t A three, it was GK four, and
- 2:20:22Speaker 10: then it started to get GK four, and then five
- 2:20:24Speaker 10: was the big one.
- 2:20:25Speaker 6: Four was good.
- 2:20:26Speaker 12: Four four also broke records. Every GTA breaked records.
- 2:20:30Speaker 4: I hate it. I love four. Three. G t A
- 2:20:33Speaker 4: three is looked at as like that was the game changer,
- 2:20:36Speaker 4: but the bc AC moment for free roaming video games.
- 2:20:40Speaker 12: Yes, yeah, because GTA used to be a top down
- 2:20:42Speaker 12: you were in a tank and you would just drive
- 2:20:44Speaker 12: around this city. Now it's older than me. So they've
- 2:20:46Speaker 12: made if I watched videos.
- 2:20:47Speaker 5: If they've made five, why do you think six would
- 2:20:49Speaker 5: be the one where people say that's enough, I.
- 2:20:52Speaker 6: Can't wait for Avatar seven. Well, I'm not saying six
- 2:20:55Speaker 6: that's enough for me.
- 2:20:56Speaker 12: I'm not saying it'd be enough, but with the with
- 2:20:59Speaker 12: the gaming landscape. Look at Cyberpunk, for instance, a video
- 2:21:02Speaker 12: game that was in development for about fourteen years and
- 2:21:05Speaker 12: launched horribly. It lagged, it crashed, there's glitches everywhere. I mean,
- 2:21:10Speaker 12: I'm just saying it could end up like that. Do
- 2:21:12Speaker 12: I think it will? Probably not, but it could.
- 2:21:16Speaker 7: Okay.
- 2:21:17Speaker 12: There was a game on Steam that came out March seventeenth.
- 2:21:20Speaker 12: This I think this has to be some type of record,
- 2:21:23Speaker 12: came out on Steam. It was some sci fi extraction
- 2:21:26Speaker 12: game you'd play with your buddies. It's called The Cube.
- 2:21:29Speaker 12: It's already getting taken off Steam in fifty two days
- 2:21:31Speaker 12: because they couldn't pull in an average a good average
- 2:21:35Speaker 12: player base, so they just yanked it off. They're like, yeah,
- 2:21:37Speaker 12: we're not gonna make money on this. I don't think
- 2:21:38Speaker 12: i've ever seen that in gaming ever.
- 2:21:40Speaker 4: That's like et game Boy cartridge bad.
- 2:21:44Speaker 12: Yeah, like fifty two days on a digital market.
- 2:21:48Speaker 4: Really there's no hardware, like, it's just it's just a download.
- 2:21:52Speaker 4: And they're like not at all.
- 2:21:53Speaker 6: Ye, we're gonna bury it out in the desert.
- 2:21:59Speaker 3: Yeah, just like they did the other ones.
- 2:22:01Speaker 12: Yeah, And that's pretty much all I have. It's been
- 2:22:05Speaker 12: a very slow week in gaming. Sony had some layoffs
- 2:22:08Speaker 12: more on their entertainment and film side, and I do
- 2:22:10Speaker 12: really think it's because of all their gaming shows, because
- 2:22:13Speaker 12: they're not the last of us. Didn't get it got
- 2:22:16Speaker 12: good reception in the first season. Second season fell off
- 2:22:19Speaker 12: pretty heavy. Say thats the video game?
- 2:22:20Speaker 4: Yea.
- 2:22:21Speaker 12: Not many people are excited about this new God of
- 2:22:24Speaker 12: War video games TV show? Yeah, oh TV show, yeah, yeah,
- 2:22:28Speaker 12: not video game TV show. Have you have you seen
- 2:22:30Speaker 12: the pictures? Oh yeah, the set pictures that Krados does
- 2:22:34Speaker 12: not look good.
- 2:22:35Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's not Bob.
- 2:22:37Speaker 10: Do you play video games at all? You just your
- 2:22:39Speaker 10: son does.
- 2:22:40Speaker 5: I think I'm the only person in this room who
- 2:22:41Speaker 5: has played an eight bit by the Way Machine video game.
- 2:22:45Speaker 5: But I my son plays a lot of video games.
- 2:22:47Speaker 5: I play PGA golf, I'll play that. I'll play sports
- 2:22:52Speaker 5: games because I don't want to be stuck for hours playing.
- 2:22:54Speaker 5: But I have played God of War and I did
- 2:22:57Speaker 5: play What's the Zombie game?
- 2:23:00Speaker 4: Days Gone By? I played that.
- 2:23:02Speaker 12: I've been I've been looking at that I have. I
- 2:23:04Speaker 12: never got it. I got a PlayStation a little later,
- 2:23:06Speaker 12: so I never really fully got into all the PlayStation exclusives.
- 2:23:10Speaker 12: That was the one game where I was like, I
- 2:23:11Speaker 12: might get it, and I didn't pull the trigger off.
- 2:23:13Speaker 4: It's fine. I'll tell you.
- 2:23:14Speaker 5: What I'm looking forward to is if my son showed
- 2:23:16Speaker 5: it to me. The Halloween game. I do, I know
- 2:23:20Speaker 5: talked about that. I did the Halloween episode. How could
- 2:23:23Speaker 5: I not talk about it. Yeah, gosh, I can't wait.
- 2:23:26Speaker 5: I'm just hoping it doesn't turned out like the Jason game.
- 2:23:28Speaker 5: Did you ever play the Jason game?
- 2:23:29Speaker 4: I did not.
- 2:23:30Speaker 12: Oh, there's a Friday the thirteenth game that was exactly
- 2:23:32Speaker 12: like this Halloween game that came out twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen,
- 2:23:36Speaker 12: somewhere in that range. I might be given it a
- 2:23:38Speaker 12: couple of years, but it was received great. There was
- 2:23:41Speaker 12: a bunch of maps, a bunch of different Jason's from
- 2:23:43Speaker 12: all the different movies, and then of course with even
- 2:23:46Speaker 12: his mom, even his mother, no I'm kidding, and then
- 2:23:49Speaker 12: even you know, Friday thirteenth has all those legal battles
- 2:23:52Speaker 12: with literally everything. That's why no movies come out for
- 2:23:55Speaker 12: it anymore. I don't know that really. Yeah, they've been
- 2:23:59Speaker 12: going through legal battles since I think it was two
- 2:24:00Speaker 12: thousand and nine, when they made that remake and nothing
- 2:24:03Speaker 12: has come from that. That's why it's so that's why
- 2:24:06Speaker 12: when you see the headlines for the thirteenth TV series
- 2:24:08Speaker 12: in the work, it's like, Oh, is this actually gonna happen?
- 2:24:10Speaker 12: Is this a real thing? Because all the legal problems
- 2:24:12Speaker 12: with the Jason character is so bad. There's like four
- 2:24:15Speaker 12: people that technically own the character, so they all just
- 2:24:18Speaker 12: decline everything.
- 2:24:19Speaker 6: Leave it to lawyers to finally kill Jason.
- 2:24:22Speaker 12: Right, yeah, good point. Yeah, so they took that. They
- 2:24:27Speaker 12: nuke that game off the internet. You can't buy it
- 2:24:29Speaker 12: anymore or anything like that. They shut down the server
- 2:24:31Speaker 12: so even if you do have it, you can't play it.
- 2:24:33Speaker 4: Wow.
- 2:24:34Speaker 12: Yeah, So I'm just I really hope the Halloween game
- 2:24:37Speaker 12: doesn't turn into that because it was it does. It
- 2:24:40Speaker 12: looks really.
- 2:24:41Speaker 6: Rockstar they're the ones who did the Batman games.
- 2:24:43Speaker 4: Right, No, that's a rock Steady, rock Steady.
- 2:24:45Speaker 6: Okay, in syncopea or something. No, that's the movies rock Steady,
- 2:24:49Speaker 6: You Lost Me, a movie You Move People.
- 2:24:51Speaker 4: One of my favorite video game memories of all time
- 2:24:54Speaker 4: was playing a Batman Arkham Asylum. Yeah, and let's just
- 2:24:58Speaker 4: say I was ripped on my couch and I was
- 2:25:01Speaker 4: only doing the challenges. At the end of round four,
- 2:25:05Speaker 4: I look up and I realized my health bar untouched
- 2:25:09Speaker 4: my combo one hundred and sixty something. I finished like
- 2:25:14Speaker 4: eleventh in the country and I just like walked up.
- 2:25:17Speaker 4: I just like got put down the cheetahs looked at
- 2:25:20Speaker 4: the TV. I was like, I am something. I am
- 2:25:25Speaker 4: I've done something. And also another video game news, because god,
- 2:25:28Speaker 4: I love video games. To the people, this will resonate
- 2:25:31Speaker 4: with a handful of people. They'll be proud to call
- 2:25:35Speaker 4: me Ross and a friend. I beat Final Fantasy seven,
- 2:25:40Speaker 4: the OG nineteen ninety seven video game this past week,
- 2:25:46Speaker 4: and there is nothing like playing video games from the
- 2:25:51Speaker 4: nineties where they don't care about your feelings and they
- 2:25:56Speaker 4: were such they were made almost impossible to beat back
- 2:26:00Speaker 4: in the day. And the challenge of video games just
- 2:26:05Speaker 4: now when you play a video game, they are so
- 2:26:07Speaker 4: easy compared to what it once was.
- 2:26:09Speaker 12: Yeah, dude, I went to go play Jedi Outcast. Uh
- 2:26:12Speaker 12: do you ever play Jedi Outcast on the PS two
- 2:26:14Speaker 12: and all that?
- 2:26:15Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 2:26:15Speaker 9: Do?
- 2:26:15Speaker 12: I went to go back and play that. I think
- 2:26:16Speaker 12: two weeks ago. I was pulling my hair out on
- 2:26:19Speaker 12: the first level. I was pulling my hair out.
- 2:26:21Speaker 10: And and like, yeah, that game just retro games. They
- 2:26:26Speaker 10: didn't now it's supposed to be fun and entertaining an
- 2:26:29Speaker 10: easy year.
- 2:26:31Speaker 4: Back in the day, video games were like you want
- 2:26:34Speaker 4: to accomplish something? Do you want to work?
- 2:26:37Speaker 6: It's sad. There are people coming back.
- 2:26:39Speaker 5: To Earth who have literally just circled the moon and
- 2:26:42Speaker 5: we're singing our praises for having beaten the highest level.
- 2:26:47Speaker 6: I didn't even accomplished something.
- 2:26:48Speaker 5: And I can embrace those emotions because I've been there too,
- 2:26:52Speaker 5: But you know, and they set the bar.
- 2:26:55Speaker 4: Well, that's the currency for video games. Video games work
