- 0:03Make a bag alert. Make a bag alert. Make a bag
- 0:05alert. Make a bag alert. Make a bag alert, folks.
- 0:08That's right. I know it's been a while, but we're
- 0:10back, baby. Back like we never left. And what
- 0:13better way to come back with a mega bag alert?
- 0:16Trades, everything in between. Man, we got so
- 0:19much to talk about. I have my phone on driving
- 0:22mode. I don't know what's going to happen between
- 0:25now and the end of this episode, but who cares,
- 0:28okay? So let's just get into everything because
- 0:31I know there's more stuff that's going to be
- 0:32happening within the next few hours, okay? So
- 0:34Terry McLaurin, Trey Hendrickson, James Cook,
- 0:38Taylor Morin, and Tyson Bagnett all get paid.
- 0:41Jacoby Myers requests a trade. Trades, that's
- 0:44right, trades, because we had a lot of trades
- 0:46the last few days. We even had a trade happen
- 0:49right before. was about to hit the record button.
- 0:53Literally, as soon as I was getting ready to
- 0:55record, now, all of a sudden, the Panthers and
- 0:58the Vikings finally decide to trade Adam Thielen,
- 1:01all right? We had to talk about that, as well
- 1:02as Daniel Jones is the starting quarterback for
- 1:05the Colts. Who failed who? That's the question
- 1:09I think we all need to be asking, folks, and
- 1:11my thoughts on the Browns quarterback situation,
- 1:14all right? All of this and more. On the 90th
- 1:16episode of the Football Junkies Podcast, all
- 1:18right? I am your host with the most. That's right,
- 1:2190 episodes. 90 episodes. 90 episodes. That is
- 1:26a milestone, folks. We are 10 episodes away from
- 1:29100 episodes, all right? And man, oh man, does
- 1:33it feel good, all right? All of this and more
- 1:35on the 90th episode. I know that feels real.
- 1:39I know I did it again. I really don't care. I'm
- 1:40so excited for you guys, all right? I am your
- 1:43host with the most, all right? I'm your chief
- 1:46Bagrodamas. That's right, chief, head of the
- 1:48table. Anything and everything related to the
- 1:50bag, rumors to the bag. conspiracies to the back,
- 1:54and more, okay? But guess what? I am all these
- 1:57things and more. But most importantly, the most
- 2:00important thing that you must remember is, I
- 2:02am your host, Kale. That's right, the same Kale
- 2:04that is your chief back row domus, that is your
- 2:07chief head of the table, that is everything and
- 2:10more when it comes to being a GM. I know it's
- 2:12been a while, but guess what? On three, one,
- 2:14two, three, let's lock in. Right, folks, I'm
- 2:43just getting to the meat and potatoes of everything
- 2:45that is going on in the league right now. So
- 2:48before we get into all the great stuff that we
- 2:51have to talk about, we have to talk about these
- 2:52bag alerts, all right? So Terry McLaurin, wide
- 2:55receiver for the Commanders, inks a three -year,
- 2:57$96 million deal. Let's put a pause on that.
- 3:00And I say that because initially, we didn't get
- 3:04all the information that we have now about his
- 3:06contract. So let's just get into it. So this
- 3:08comes from Ian Rappaport. So he has $44 million
- 3:12fully guaranteed, converting to $50 million in
- 3:15April of 2027. Since his $19 .1 million this
- 3:19year wasn't guaranteed, he gets a $30 million
- 3:22signing bonus, and he has incentives that is
- 3:25based on yards, catches, touchdowns, Pro Bowls,
- 3:28and playoffs, all right? So technically speaking,
- 3:32he's making $29 million a year. He's not actually
- 3:35making $30, but he's making $29. He gets to 30
- 3:40based off of certain incentives that he meets,
- 3:42essentially. Now, when we look at his stats from
- 3:45this past season, 117 targets for 82 receptions,
- 3:491 ,096 receiving yards, 13 touchdowns, 13 .4
- 3:54receiving yards per reception. Here's a few junkie
- 3:56nuggets, okay? So, according to Underground NFL,
- 3:59Terry McLaurin is one of four players in 2020
- 4:01to have the most 1 ,000 -yard receiving seasons.
- 4:05Other players include Devontae Adams, Mike Evans,
- 4:07and Justin Jefferson. When Jaden Daniels targeted
- 4:10Terry McLaurin, Jaden Daniels had a 134 passer
- 4:14rating, 12 touchdowns, 1 pick, and averaged 9
- 4:18.1 yards per attempt. When Jaden Daniels targeted
- 4:22everyone else, Jaden Daniels had a 91 points
- 4:25rating, 13 touchdowns, 8 picks, and 7 yards per
- 4:29attempt. Now since 2020, of 633 targets, Terry
- 4:34McLaurin has had 17 drops, which is a 2 .7 drop
- 4:39rate. D -Hop, Amon Ross St. Brown, and Jacoby
- 4:42Myers have lower drop rates among wide receivers
- 4:45with 350 -plus targets in the last five years.
- 4:49Now, wide receivers with 75 -plus targets last
- 4:51season that produced a better EPA per target
- 4:55than Terry McLaurin, Amon Ross St. Brown, Devontae
- 4:58Smith, and A .J. Brown. Now, according to reception
- 5:01perception, all right, when facing man coverage,
- 5:04Terry McLaurin has a 74 .4 success rate. When
- 5:08facing zone coverage, Terry McLaurin has a 75
- 5:11.9 success rate. When facing press coverage,
- 5:14Terry McLaurin has a 75 % success rate. A really
- 5:18good deal for a really good player, but I will
- 5:20say this. Sometimes it takes both sides to cave
- 5:24in with their demands in order to get a deal
- 5:26done. And I think for Terry McLaurin, I think
- 5:28he realized, listen, this team isn't going to
- 5:31give me 30. They're probably going to give me
- 5:3330 with incentives, but they're not going to
- 5:35give me 30 straight. And so he probably came
- 5:38to the realization that, hey, I might as well
- 5:41just want to sign. There's nowhere else that's
- 5:43going to give me a better deal than what the
- 5:45commanders are giving me right now. And so when
- 5:47we look at this, he does get extra money. Yes,
- 5:50it's a short term deal. And it's a deal where
- 5:53by the time the deal ends, he's going to be sort
- 5:56of like at the tail end of his career, possibly.
- 6:00And that's when you're going to have to start
- 6:01paying Jaden Daniels and all of your other younger
- 6:05players. So I'm not mad at this move, but it's
- 6:10like, damn, it sucks because it's like Terry
- 6:13McLaurin plays such a pivotal role in this team
- 6:16and this organization for the longest time. And
- 6:19you would have thought the commanders would have
- 6:21been like, you know what? For you being so loyal
- 6:24to the team, for you being so just. outgoing
- 6:27with the team and just being a positive image
- 6:30for this team when dan snyder was the dark cloud
- 6:33over this team you would have thought that they
- 6:35would say you know what we'll give you 31 maybe
- 6:3732 or but yeah we'll give you 33 no they had
- 6:42their feet dug in the sand and they said you
- 6:44know what we are going to give you 28 29 million
- 6:47at best and i think they probably say you know
- 6:50what based off of your age and all these varying
- 6:52things we're just going to give you this And
- 6:55that's the dirty business when it comes to negotiating
- 6:57contracts, folks, especially for professional
- 7:00athletes, is that a lot of times you're really
- 7:03going to know how they really feel about you
- 7:05when they start talking about money. When they
- 7:08start talking about money, the gloves are off.
- 7:10That's when they start bringing up all the really
- 7:13minor things. You coming in late at this time,
- 7:16you doing this, you doing that, you missing this
- 7:19workout or whatever. That's when all those things
- 7:22comes out. And so here we are. But I'm glad that
- 7:26this got resolved, and I'm just glad that this
- 7:28is just not being talked about anymore, all right?
- 7:31And let's keep this thing going, all right? So
- 7:33Trey Henderson, pass rusher for the Bengals,
- 7:35basically has a restructure of his deal, okay?
- 7:38It's a $14 million raise, meaning he'll make
- 7:40$30 million this year and then become a free
- 7:42agent next year. So essentially, it's a one -year
- 7:45$30 million bump up. Now, according to Field
- 7:49Yates, for cap purposes, the deal includes a
- 7:52one -year. Trey Henderson's cap number increased
- 7:54by $3 million this year. The deal doesn't include
- 7:58a no -tag clause, meaning the Bengals do have
- 8:01the right to tag him after this season. And if
- 8:04the Bengals were to franchise tag Trey Henderson
- 8:06in 2026, his tag would be worth $34 .8 million.
- 8:10Now, when we look at his stats from this past
- 8:12season, he had 46 tackles, 17 .5 sacks, and 92
- 8:17quarterback pressures. Now, according to the
- 8:1933rd team, He was tied with Myles Garrett for
- 8:22the most pressures in the league with 83. And
- 8:25he also accounted for a league -leading 49 %
- 8:29of the Bengals' sacks last season. Myles Garrett
- 8:31and Trayvon Walker were the only other players
- 8:33who contributed 30 % of their team's sacks in
- 8:362024. So according to Diana Rossini from The
- 8:39Athletic, the Bengals offered Trey Hendrickson
- 8:41a three -year $95 million deal, but the second
- 8:44year wasn't guaranteed. Now, Jeremy Fowler of
- 8:48ESPN also reported this as well, but he added
- 8:51this. The deal included 33 million in guarantees,
- 8:54but no guarantee money past the 2025 season.
- 8:58So both of them were correct in their reporting.
- 9:01But if you're Trey Hendrickson, this should have
- 9:03been the first thing that you should have asked
- 9:05for. Forget about asking for a long -term deal.
- 9:08You know this team isn't going anywhere. So I
- 9:11don't understand why in the world it took for
- 9:13them this long to find some resolution. I would
- 9:17have just asked for a one -year deal where you
- 9:20just bump up my pay a little bit, not a whole
- 9:22bunch, but just a little bit. I'll be fine. And
- 9:25then I'll just hit free agency and I'll get a
- 9:26bigger bag. But this is what I said a couple
- 9:29episodes ago, though. Trey Henderson, regardless
- 9:32if he was going to get traded or stay with the
- 9:35Bengals, he was going to sign a one -year deal
- 9:37because he realized, listen. We're at an impasse.
- 9:40They're not going to give me what I want, and
- 9:42I'm not going to give them what they want. So
- 9:44guess what? We're just going to sign this one
- 9:46-year deal. We're going to act like we're just
- 9:48one big happy family, and then after this season,
- 9:51we gone. Now let's keep this thing going, all
- 9:53right? So Taylor Morton right tackle for the
- 9:55Panthers inks a two -year $44 million extension,
- 9:58$40 million guaranteed, and he'll be making $22
- 10:00million a year. When we look at his stats from
- 10:02this past season, he allowed one penalty, one
- 10:05sack, two hits, and 14 total pressures. Now,
- 10:09according to the 30 -13, outside of Taylor Motley,
- 10:12the only right tackle with a lower pressure than
- 10:15him was Lane Johnson. That's a really good class
- 10:18to be in. Folks, this is a really good deal for
- 10:20a really good right tackle, a really productive
- 10:23right tackle. As I've said before, you got to
- 10:26take care of your tackles. If you don't take
- 10:29care of your tackles, guess what? Your quarterback
- 10:31is going to be lunch meat for the pass rushers.
- 10:34And it's only right that you take care of this
- 10:36veteran right tackle that has been fairly solid
- 10:39his entire year with the Panthers. Let's keep
- 10:41this thing going. So James Cook running back
- 10:44for the Bills inks a four -year $46 million deal.
- 10:47He gets a $9 million signing bonus, $15 .2 million
- 10:51guaranteed at signing, $28 .2 million in total
- 10:54guarantees, and he'll be making $11 .5 million
- 10:57a year. This is the most guaranteed money for
- 10:59a running back in the last five years, according
- 11:02to Adam Schefter. Now we will look at his stats
- 11:04from this past season. 207 attempts for 1 ,009
- 11:08rushing yards, 4 .9 rushing yards per carry,
- 11:1116 rushing touchdowns, and 21 rushes of 10 plus
- 11:14yards or more. Now here are the stats when he
- 11:17was rushing within the tackles. 110 attempts
- 11:20for 542 rushing yards, 4 .9 rushing yards per
- 11:23carry, 10 rushes of 10 plus yards or more. Now,
- 11:27the stats when he's rushing outside the tackles
- 11:30is 97 attempts for 467 rushing yards, 4 .8 rushing
- 11:35yards per carry, 7 rushing touchdowns, and 11
- 11:37rushes of 10 plus yards or more. I'm glad they
- 11:40got the deal done, but I'm just going to be honest
- 11:42here. I feel like this was a reach. When you
- 11:44look at the highest paid running backs in the
- 11:46league, what is the one thing that they all have
- 11:49in common? Consistency. Throughout their entire
- 11:52career, they have had a level of consistency
- 11:55that says, hey, I am the best of the best in
- 11:58my position. We look at Kyron Williams. The last
- 12:01two years, 12 rushing touchdowns, 14 rushing
- 12:05touchdowns. We look at Josh Jacobs. In 2019,
- 12:08seven rushing touchdowns. In 2020, 12. In 2021,
- 12:13nine rushing touchdowns. 2022, 12 rushing touchdowns.
- 12:162023, six rushing touchdowns. 2024, 15 rushing
- 12:21touchdowns. We look at Jonathan Taylor. 11 rushing
- 12:24touchdowns in 2020, 18 in 2021, four rushing
- 12:28touchdowns in 2022, seven rushing touchdowns
- 12:31in 2023, and 11 rushing touchdowns in 2024. Okay,
- 12:35let's keep this thing going. Derrick Henry, for
- 12:37instance, all right? 13 rushing touchdowns in
- 12:402022, 12 rushing touchdowns in 2023, and 16 rushing
- 12:45touchdowns in 2024. There is a level of consistency
- 12:49with the top running backs. Whereas in James
- 12:53Cook's hand, not so much. This last season was
- 12:56his best season by far. And you guys paid him
- 13:00like he's a really consistent running back. He's
- 13:02not. I'm just going to be completely honest here.
- 13:05Happy for him that he got his money. Always happy
- 13:07for players getting their money. But let's just
- 13:09call a spade a spade. This wasn't overpay. At
- 13:13best, if it was me personally, I'm only paying
- 13:15you between eight to maybe nine million a year.
- 13:18And that's only because I like you. That's not
- 13:20because of your productivity. Because I realized
- 13:23that, listen, and this is no disrespect to him.
- 13:25This is no disrespect to any player at all. I
- 13:28can find another James Cook in the draft, okay?
- 13:31Because with all these other running backs, guess
- 13:34what? You can put them in any system and they're
- 13:37going to thrive. Whereas with James Cook, you
- 13:39can essentially say that, hey, because he's in
- 13:41this system, because he's behind this offensive
- 13:44line, because he has this type of quarterback,
- 13:47he's seen this success. Now, I know it probably
- 13:49makes me sound like a hater, but I'm not. I'm
- 13:52just calling it a spade a spade. If this was
- 13:54any other position, if this was a wide receiver,
- 13:56tight end, pass rusher, corner, middle linebacker,
- 14:00whomever, I would have the same smoke. Because
- 14:02again, when you get these type of deals, there
- 14:06is a level of expectancy when it comes to your
- 14:09play. And the minute that you don't show that,
- 14:11guess what? The team is going to start finding
- 14:14a way to get out of that contract. We see it
- 14:16every single year. We see it with the Jaguars.
- 14:20The Jaguars will sign five and six, seven, maybe
- 14:23eight people to these really big contracts. And
- 14:26then guess what? That next year, they're getting
- 14:28rid of all of those guys. They're either trading
- 14:30them away, cutting them, releasing them, whatever
- 14:33they need to do. I'm just going to be honest
- 14:35here. James Cook is not a top 10 running back
- 14:38in my mind. Top 15, maybe top 20. Okay, fine.
- 14:41I'll put you there. But to pay him like he's
- 14:43a top 10 running back in the league, I'm not
- 14:45doing that. To be a top 10 running back, in my
- 14:47mind, there needs to be a level of consistency
- 14:51over three plus years. If over three plus years
- 14:55you've been consistent, okay, fine. I'll give
- 14:58you credit where credit is due. But I'm not just
- 15:01about to anoint you a top 10 running back just
- 15:04because you have one good season. Anybody can
- 15:07have one good season. How many one good seasons
- 15:09have we seen every single year? Especially when
- 15:13it comes to free agency. Everybody will overpay
- 15:16for one good season, thinking that they're going
- 15:19to get that one good season over three or four
- 15:22years, and then guess what happens? You don't
- 15:24even see a lick of it. And now you're stuck with
- 15:27somebody that's making well over the money that
- 15:30they should be getting. But I'm going to get
- 15:31off my soapbox, okay? So let's just keep on going,
- 15:34all right? So Tyson Bagman, backup quarterback
- 15:37for the Chicago Bears, makes a two -year $10
- 15:40million deal with a max value of $16 million.
- 15:42He'll be making $5 million a year. I'm not gonna
- 15:45read to you his stats because honestly, it's
- 15:48really not worth it. The best way to sum this
- 15:50up is this is just a backup insurance policy
- 15:53just in case Caleb Williams doesn't pan out.
- 15:55It's not something that's earth shattering, that's
- 15:58gonna break the bank, that it's gonna leave you
- 16:02confused or puzzled. No, this is just a backup
- 16:05plan just in case Caleb Williams is going through
- 16:08a slump. Now let's talk about Jacoby Myers, okay?
- 16:10So Jacoby Myers has requested a trade. So, according
- 16:15to Ian Rappaport, he's been trying to negotiate
- 16:17a new contract but has been unsuccessful to this
- 16:20point. Now, according to Tom Pelissero, he is
- 16:23due $10 .7 million in the last year of his deal.
- 16:26Now, when we look at his stats from this past
- 16:28season, 129 targets for 87 receptions, 1 ,027
- 16:33receiving yards, 4 touchdowns, and 11 .8 receiving
- 16:36yards per reception. His spot rack market value
- 16:39is two years $60 million, which is $30 million
- 16:42a year. Now here's the stats when he's an outside
- 16:45receiver, okay? 86 targets for 60 receptions,
- 16:49744 receiving yards, two touchdowns, 12 .4 receiving
- 16:53yards per reception. When he's lined up in the
- 16:55slot, however... 40 targets for 25 receptions,
- 16:59286 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns, and 11 .4
- 17:03receiving yards per reception. So either way
- 17:05you look at it, he is just as productive as an
- 17:08outside receiver as he is as a slot receiver.
- 17:11Now, me personally, do I think Jacoby Myers is
- 17:13going to get traded? No. Because for one, he's
- 17:16the most reliable weapon to Geno Smith right
- 17:18now. Granted, I understand that they drafted
- 17:20Jack Besch and Dante Thornton Jr., but... none
- 17:24of them had the same production as a Jacoby Myers
- 17:27who's proven. Now, I will say this. If you're
- 17:30the Raiders, how much money are you willing to
- 17:32give Jacoby Myers? And if you're Jacoby Myers,
- 17:35what's your number? Because me personally, if
- 17:40you give him, I don't know, 20, maybe 25 million
- 17:44more, I don't think nobody's really complaining
- 17:48personally. But at the same time, if you're the
- 17:52Raiders, Would you rather trade him away, maybe
- 17:55get another pick? You could possibly get another
- 17:57receiver next year. I don't know. All I know
- 17:59is he's not getting traded. Now let's get into
- 18:02these trades because there's a lot of trades,
- 18:04all right? So let's start off with Kansas City
- 18:07trading away Sky Moore to the 49ers. So Kansas
- 18:10City receives a 2027 sixth round pick and the
- 18:1349ers receive Sky Moore, of course, in a 2027
- 18:15seventh round pick. Really good move for a very
- 18:19depleted wide receiver room. who, quite frankly,
- 18:22they just needed somebody. And so getting Sky
- 18:26Moore for this, it's not bad at all. Not to mention,
- 18:29Sky Moore's production on the Chiefs has dwindled
- 18:33year after year after year. Now, I don't have
- 18:37any sources or anything, but one could speculate
- 18:40that there was probably a point in either last
- 18:43season or the season before that where he had
- 18:46just fallen out of the good graces of the offense.
- 18:48And that happens sometimes. Even when you look
- 18:51at his stats, in the last three years, he's only
- 18:54had one touchdown. And even when you look at
- 18:57the 2024 season, he only was targeted three times.
- 19:01And he didn't get no receptions, no touchdowns,
- 19:04no nothing. The first two years were his most
- 19:08productive years. I don't think this is an earth
- 19:11-shattering type of trade, but I do think this
- 19:14provides the 49ers some wide receiver depth because
- 19:16Demarcus Robinson is going to be suspended for
- 19:19three games. Brandon Ayuk isn't going to be on
- 19:21the field for a while. You don't know what's
- 19:23going on with Juwan Jennings, and all you have
- 19:25is just Ricky Pearsall, and I know I'm forgetting
- 19:28somebody else. So, not bad. Now, let's keep this
- 19:32thing going. Denver and the Saints made a trade.
- 19:35So Denver receives a 2026 fourth round pick and
- 19:38a 2027 seventh round pick. And New Orleans receives
- 19:41wide receiver Deval Vele. I think when you look
- 19:46at this deal, this is a really good deal for
- 19:48both sides. And here's why. For one, the Saints
- 19:51receive a big body receiver who's like 6 '5",
- 19:54if I'm not mistaken. And the Broncos receive
- 19:57a fourth round pick for next year and a seventh
- 20:00round pick for the 2027 draft. I think that's
- 20:03good compensation, folks. Not to mention, we
- 20:06look at his stats from this past season, 55 targets
- 20:09for 41 receptions, 475 receiving yards, three
- 20:13touchdowns, and average 11 .6 receiving yards
- 20:16per reception. Not bad at all, honestly. Let's
- 20:20keep this thing going. So Harrison Phillips heads
- 20:21to the Jets. So the Vikings receive a 2026 sixth
- 20:25round pick and a 2027 sixth round pick. And the
- 20:29Jets receive, of course, Harrison Phillips and
- 20:31a 2027 seventh round pick. All right. Really
- 20:34productive interior defensive lineman. Really
- 20:37good run stuffer. My guess is that the Jets weren't
- 20:40satisfied with their interior defensive line
- 20:42room. So they decided to add another veteran
- 20:45to pair with Quinton Williams, which is not bad
- 20:47at all, honestly. So the Browns traded away Jawan
- 20:50Briggs, defensive tackle. So in return, the Browns
- 20:53receive a 2025 sixth round pick and the Jets
- 20:56receive. Jawan Briggs, of course, in a 2026 seventh
- 21:00round pick. Again, they're trying to bolster
- 21:03up their interior defensive line, which isn't
- 21:05bad at all. My guess is he's probably just a
- 21:09death piece. I don't think he's going to be,
- 21:11you know, a week one starter or anything. But,
- 21:13you know, I can definitely be wrong. The Jaguars
- 21:17traded for Kalen Saunders defensive tackle. And
- 21:20then the Saints received Luke Fortner center.
- 21:23My guess is. They probably needed a backup center.
- 21:28And so, you know, they probably reached out to
- 21:30the Jaguars and, you know, they made it happen.
- 21:32But when we look at Kalen Saunders, he's actually
- 21:35been a really productive defensive lineman within
- 21:37the last few years. This past season, I mean,
- 21:39he had, what, two sacks? And then his last year
- 21:42with Kansas City, he had three and a half sacks.
- 21:44Like, an underrated type of defensive lineman
- 21:47that probably doesn't get as much, you know,
- 21:49attention like, you know, like the bigger names.
- 21:54Still productive. Let's keep this thing going.
- 21:56So Philly and Houston make a trade. So the Philadelphia
- 21:59Eagles receive John Metchie in a 2026 sixth round
- 22:03pick, while Houston receives Harrison Bryant
- 22:05tied in in a 2026 fifth round pick. Really has
- 22:09been the most productive in the last few years.
- 22:12I mean, sure, his last year with the Browns,
- 22:13he had three touchdowns, but... I mean, his time
- 22:16with the Raiders, 12 targets, 9 receptions for
- 22:1886 receiving yards and average 9 .6 receiving
- 22:21yards per reception. But I will say this, with
- 22:25the Eagles getting John Mechie, I think that
- 22:26was actually really good of an upgrade. I would
- 22:29say so. I think pairing him with Devontae Smith
- 22:31and A .J. Brown, that's great. You're talking
- 22:34about somebody that's a really good route runner,
- 22:36that is speedy, shifty, and at this point, really
- 22:39didn't have a chance to make the roster with
- 22:42Houston. I mean, they have, what, Tankdale? They
- 22:44drafted two receivers. They traded for Christian
- 22:47Kirk. Like, that receiver room is crowded. Sometimes
- 22:52it's just best to just, you know, give them another
- 22:54opportunity. So, good for him. But let's keep
- 22:58this thing going, all right? So, the 49ers and
- 23:00Washington made a trade. So, the 49ers received
- 23:02Brian Robinson running back, while Washington
- 23:05receives a 2026 sixth -round pick. So, Brian
- 23:09Robinson... which I'm actually surprised at his
- 23:12stats, believe it or not. He had 187 attempts
- 23:16for 799 rushing yards, 4 .3 rushing yards per
- 23:20carry, 8 touchdowns, and 19 rushes of 10 plus
- 23:24yards more. A really productive, bruising running
- 23:28back, which the 49ers have been looking for for
- 23:31a very long time. Pairing him with Christian
- 23:33McCaffrey, I think that's great. Not to mention,
- 23:37he takes some of the snaps away from Christian
- 23:39McCaffrey, which keeps Christian McCaffrey a
- 23:42lot more healthier as the season progresses,
- 23:44which is, you know, what you really want. Not
- 23:46to mention, having a bruiser. That means he can
- 23:50get you those needed yards, those two or three
- 23:51extra yards, or he can wear down on the defense
- 23:54to the clock, various different things. Really
- 23:56good move for both teams. Eagles receive Sam
- 24:00Howell from the Vikings. So the Vikings receive
- 24:02a 2026 fifth round pick and a 2027 seventh round
- 24:06pick, while Philly receives, of course, Sam Howell
- 24:09and a 2026 sixth round pick. A really good backup
- 24:13quarterback. Do I think he's the best of the
- 24:16best? No. But I think based off of what they
- 24:19have in the backup quarterback room for the Eagles,
- 24:22I would say he's probably the best that they
- 24:23have right now. Outside of Tanner McKee, who,
- 24:26if I'm not mistaken, he messed up his fingers.
- 24:28So that's probably why they made this move. And
- 24:30then not to mention, the Vikings signed Carson
- 24:33Wentz after this move was processed and announced
- 24:36and whatnot. But let's keep this thing going.
- 24:38Kansas City made a trade for Derek Nandi, one
- 24:41of their defensive tackles that they had a few
- 24:43years ago. So Kansas City receives him in a 2027
- 24:466th and 7th conditional picks, while the Jets
- 24:50receive a 2027 6th and 7th conditional picks.
- 24:53So basically, they're just swapping conditional
- 24:55picks. That's all they're doing. Really good
- 24:57run -stuffing defensive tackle. Nothing more
- 25:00to say, honestly. Philly again, folks. They love
- 25:05their offensive and their defensive linemen.
- 25:08They're always going to make a trade. They're
- 25:09always going to make a move for offensive and
- 25:11defensive linemen. So the Philadelphia Eagles
- 25:14acquired Fred Johnson left tackle while giving
- 25:17up a 2026 seventh round pick to the Jaguars.
- 25:20So according to the stats by PFF, okay, he allows
- 25:25four penalties, eight sacks, five hits, and 37
- 25:29total pressures. Now, when you look at his placement,
- 25:32he's had 351 snaps at left tackle, 119 snaps
- 25:38at right tackle, and believe it or not, he had
- 25:4110 snaps at tight end. This guy is a weapon.
- 25:44This guy is a weapon. That's all I'll say. But
- 25:48the Eagles, again, made another move for offensive
- 25:50linemen. So they traded for Darion Kennard, guard
- 25:52for the Packers. And so they give up a 20 -27
- 25:56sixth round pick, all right? So looking at PFF,
- 26:00he allowed only three total pressures in one
- 26:02sack. I know recently the Eagles just cut Kenyon
- 26:05Green, who they traded for, I think it was this
- 26:09offseason. Yeah, I think they traded for Kenyon
- 26:11Green this offseason because that's how they
- 26:14were able to ship away C .J. Garner -Johnson.
- 26:16And they just cut him a few days ago, so I guess
- 26:20it only makes sense for them to go after Darion
- 26:23Canard. Now, here's the thing, though. So according
- 26:26to PFF, he's had 68 snaps at right tackle and
- 26:30three snaps at left guard. Maybe he's a backup
- 26:34for right tackle and guard, I guess. I don't
- 26:36know. A little bit of a head scratcher. But we
- 26:38all know that they're going to turn water into
- 26:40wine when it comes to this stuff. All right.
- 26:42So Kenny Pickett is on the move again. You might
- 26:46as well want to call him Ryan Fitzpatrick 2 .0.
- 26:49All right. No disrespect to you, my G. So Cleveland
- 26:51receives a 2026 fifth round pick. We all know
- 26:55that Las Vegas was looking for a backup quarterback.
- 26:58I would have thought they probably would have
- 26:59went with, I don't know, Josh Dobbs or... Somebody
- 27:02else, not Kenny Pickett, who really didn't play
- 27:06in any of the preseason games. Just saying, a
- 27:10little bit weird. But let's keep this thing going,
- 27:12all right? So the Vikings and the Colts made
- 27:14a trade. So the Colts received Makai Blackman,
- 27:17corner, and the Vikings received a 2026 sixth
- 27:20round pick in return. We just have a few more,
- 27:23just like smaller trades, nothing. really big
- 27:26or whatever. So the Browns traded for KT, Leveston,
- 27:30Gard, and the Rams receive a 20 -28 seventh round
- 27:33pick. My guess is, death piece, Seahawks trade
- 27:37away Michael Jarrell, right tackle to the Falcons,
- 27:39and so they receive a 20 -27 seventh round pick,
- 27:42which my guess is they probably made this move
- 27:45because they probably caught wind that, yeah,
- 27:48Caleb McGarry is going to be done for the year.
- 27:50So, really great move at the right time because,
- 27:54man, oh, man, you do not want to have a glaring
- 27:57hole on that offensive line, all right? So, the
- 28:00Cowboys made a move with the Saints. So, the
- 28:03Saints received Aseem Richards in a 20 -28 seventh
- 28:05-round pick, while the Cowboys received a 20
- 28:08-28 sixth -round pick. The Texans and the Chargers
- 28:11made a trade. So, the Chargers received Austin.
- 28:14I don't know. I don't know how to pronounce your
- 28:16last name, dog. I'm not going to butcher it.
- 28:17Right tackle. While the Texans receive a 20 -27
- 28:20seventh -round pick in return, my guess is this
- 28:23is offensive line help. Nothing more. Nothing
- 28:26serious. The Lions made a trade this morning,
- 28:29actually. The Lions traded away Tim Patrick to
- 28:32the Jaguars, and so the Lions receive a 2026
- 28:35sixth round pick in return. And then the most
- 28:38notable trade of all trades that happened prior
- 28:41to me hitting the record button, Adam Thielen
- 28:44goes back to the Vikings. The Vikings receive
- 28:46Adam Thielen a conditional 2026 seventh round
- 28:49pick and a 2027 fifth round pick, while the Panthers
- 28:53receive a 2026 fifth round pick and a 2027 fourth
- 28:56round pick. I do have to add this in there as
- 28:59well. The Vikings currently are working on Adam
- 29:02Thielen's contract right now just to rework it.
- 29:05And the Panthers aren't receiving anything back
- 29:07when it comes to dead money or anything like
- 29:09that with this contract. So really good move
- 29:12for the Vikings because their wide receiver room
- 29:14has been depleted with injuries. And so adding
- 29:17him and pairing him with Ty Felton and Justin
- 29:20Jefferson and Jordan Addison, man, oh man, do
- 29:23you have a really good receiving core because
- 29:25Adam Thielen is still a really productive receiver.
- 29:29Sure, he's not going to give you 10 or 12 or
- 29:3213 touchdowns. No, but he can give you between
- 29:35three to six touchdowns and still be really productive.
- 29:39Like the route running is still there. He can
- 29:42still go toe to toe with a lot of receivers.
- 29:44Now, am I saying he's going to cook him? No,
- 29:46but I think he can definitely be a very contributing
- 29:50piece to this offense because Justin Jefferson
- 29:53is still nursing a hamstring injury. I know there's
- 29:56like a few other receivers that are still banged
- 29:58up as well. So it was only right if they made
- 30:00this move. And then not to mention, when you
- 30:02look on the Panther side, I mean, they have Tetsuro
- 30:05McMillan, Xavier Leguette, Jamie Horn Jr., Croker,
- 30:09who they brought in as an undrafted free agent
- 30:12as well. Like, that receiver room is really young.
- 30:16It's really a good move for both sides because
- 30:18I know leading up to this point, they were trying
- 30:21to get something done. And then, you know, everyone
- 30:23was saying it looks like the deal has basically
- 30:25fallen through. You know, a trade wasn't going
- 30:27to be done. And then next thing you know, a trade
- 30:29gets done this morning prior to me recording.
- 30:32And so here we are. But those are all the trades
- 30:35that have happened so far for now. Because I
- 30:38know there's probably going to be more trades
- 30:40happening within the next 24 to 48 hours. I know.
- 30:43What time is it? 1147. So the waiver claims are
- 30:47about to start in about maybe 20 to 30 minutes,
- 30:50meaning any of the players that have been waived,
- 30:53they can now be claimed by another team. And
- 30:55so the waiver claim goes like this, all right?
- 30:58So it's based off of the draft. Depending on
- 31:01where your team was is where they're going to
- 31:03put in their waiver claim. It's not like a free
- 31:05-for -all where you just, hey, I want them, or
- 31:07I want them, or I want them. It doesn't work
- 31:09like that. It's structured based off of the draft.
- 31:12The first team in the waiver wire is going to
- 31:15be the Titans, and the last team is going to
- 31:17be the Eagles. For instance, the Steelers. With
- 31:21the Steelers drafting 21st in this past draft,
- 31:23they're going to be 21st on the waiver wire.
- 31:26That's how it goes. Let's talk about something
- 31:29a little controversial, okay? So this may turn
- 31:33into a rant, but I think it's very much needed,
- 31:37okay? So Daniel Jones has been anointed the starting
- 31:40quarterback job for the Colts, all right? But
- 31:43before we get to that, we got some breaking news,
- 31:45breaking news, breaking news, folks. That's right.
- 31:47Kyle Hamilton of the Ravens inks a four -year,
- 31:50$100 .4 million deal, $82 million guaranteed.
- 31:54He is now the highest paid safety in the National
- 31:58Football League at $25 .1 million a year. This
- 32:02is all happening right now. Usually, I would
- 32:04have some stats and everything, but this literally
- 32:07just happened. So, man, this is a great deal
- 32:10for a really productive player. I don't care
- 32:13what anyone says. Kyle Hamilton is the 1A or
- 32:171B, whichever way you want to look at it, to
- 32:20Antoine Winfield Jr. Those two are the best safeties
- 32:24in the league right now. And it was only right
- 32:26that the Ravens take care of him because guess
- 32:28what? Like I said before in previous episodes,
- 32:31this is the difference. between a proactive and
- 32:35reactive organization. The Ravens once again
- 32:38show why they are the better organization in
- 32:42the league right now because guess what? They
- 32:44were proactive in making sure that they take
- 32:46care of Kyle Hamilton because they know that,
- 32:49listen, if he has a crazy season this year, if
- 32:53he wins, I don't know, defensive player of the
- 32:55year or get another all -pro nod, that's way
- 32:58more money that they're going to have to give
- 33:00him. So it was only right that you take care
- 33:02of him right now at this point. Now the question
- 33:05is, what are they going to do with Tyler Linderbaum?
- 33:07What are they going to do with Isaiah Lockley?
- 33:09What are they going to do with all the other
- 33:11players that are looking for more money? That's
- 33:13the question that I'm curious about at this point
- 33:16because, man, you're giving out big contracts
- 33:18to other people. I mean, if I'm not mistaken,
- 33:21I think Lamar is going to come up for another
- 33:24extension as well. So great for Kyle Hamilton.
- 33:27Great for the Ravens. We also have some more
- 33:30breaking news as well. Kendrick Bourne, former
- 33:32wide receiver for the Patriots, has been released,
- 33:36okay? After missing most of camp with a foot
- 33:38injury, Kendrick Bourne is now healthy and wanting
- 33:41a fresh start. So let's see what happens, folks.
- 33:45But now that that's all, you know, done and whatnot,
- 33:48let's talk about this whole Colts situation.
- 33:51Shane Steichen has made the decision to make
- 33:53Daniel Jones the starting quarterback for the
- 33:55Colts this year. So this is what Shane Steichen
- 33:57had to say. He's our starting quarterback for
- 34:00the season. I don't want to have a quick leash
- 34:02on that. I feel confident in his abilities, end
- 34:04quote. He goes on to say this, end quote. When
- 34:08they both came in, I made it very clear that
- 34:10this is going to be a battle and they're going
- 34:12to compete for the job. And like I said, I'm
- 34:14going to make the decision I feel is best for
- 34:16the football team, end quote. Now, this is what
- 34:19Daniel Jones has to say after finding out that
- 34:22he earned the role, and I quote, I think that
- 34:24was obviously a big piece of why I came here,
- 34:27to be on the field and to be with this group.
- 34:29I think it's a strong group of players, as I
- 34:31said, and a strong group of coaches in the system.
- 34:34I think there's a lot of things here to be excited
- 34:37about, so yeah, I'm certainly happy I made the
- 34:39decision, end quote. Now, this is what Anthony
- 34:42Richardson had to say, and I quote, Steichen
- 34:45made the decision. That's the decision we've
- 34:47got to live with. But no hard feelings, nothing
- 34:50personal. I've just got to keep growing. I just
- 34:53can't let me not being a starter stop me from
- 34:55going and being the person, the player that I'm
- 34:58supposed to be. I feel like I've taken big steps
- 35:01in a lot of ways in my preparation, my knowledge
- 35:04of the offense, and the intensity I put into
- 35:06working on my footwork. So I'm delivering the
- 35:08ball in the right spots and making sure my mind
- 35:10is in the right spot so I can make the best decision
- 35:13for the team. I just feel like I made a lot of
- 35:15growth. but there's still a lot of growth to
- 35:17be made, so I'm just working, end quote. Now,
- 35:20this is what DeForest Buckner had to say about
- 35:22the quarterback decision, and I quote, with the
- 35:24big decision with QB1, all the guys, I mean,
- 35:27we were all just ready to hear who's going to
- 35:29be number one. Whoever it was going to be, we're
- 35:31going to get behind him no matter what, you know
- 35:33what I'm saying? Whether it was AR or Daniel.
- 35:36Now, he goes on to say this as well, and I quote,
- 35:40obviously, naming Daniel, we know who's QB1,
- 35:43who we're rolling with into the season. and we're
- 35:45going to get behind him, support him in any way
- 35:47we can. What I've been telling the guys is the
- 35:50best way we can support the quarterback position
- 35:52is everybody around him, defense, offense, special
- 35:55teams, everybody's got to do their job at a high
- 35:57level, and we can take this thing very far, end
- 36:00quote. DeForest Buckner had this to say about
- 36:02Anthony Richardson, end quote. This is a time
- 36:05period for him where he can sit back and really
- 36:07develop on his skills at the quarterback position
- 36:09and mastering the offense. He's just one play
- 36:12away from getting back into the ballgame, and
- 36:14when that moment comes, he'll be ready. He's
- 36:16a deep competitor inside of him. He wanted the
- 36:18job really bad, and he was doing whatever it
- 36:20took to get to the starting job, and we've all
- 36:23seen the progress from this year, especially
- 36:25in this camp. Like I said before, throughout
- 36:28training camp, one of his best camps that he
- 36:30put together, we've all seen the progress in
- 36:32him, and this decision shouldn't define him and
- 36:34really overshadow all the stuff that he's been
- 36:36able to do." Now this is what Quentin Nelson
- 36:39had to say about the state of the quarterback
- 36:41room, and I quote, You look around the league
- 36:45and you just see the consistency of having Patrick
- 36:47Holmes or quarterback behind you that's been
- 36:49the franchise player for years and years and
- 36:52years and years. And getting to build that chemistry
- 36:54with that quarterback year after year is something
- 36:57that there is an advantage to when it comes to
- 36:59O -line play. End quote. Now with this move being
- 37:03made, If I'm not mistaken, this is now the 12th
- 37:06starting quarterback for the Colts since Andrew
- 37:08Luck retired. Here's the stat line in the starts
- 37:11for all of the quarterbacks that have played
- 37:14since Andrew Luck retired. Jacoby Reset, 2019,
- 37:17he had 15 starts. He had a 7 -8 record with 18
- 37:21touchdowns and 6 picks. Brian Hoare, 2019, he
- 37:24had 1 start, 7 -9 record with 4 touchdowns and
- 37:284 picks. Phillip Rivers, 2020, 16 starts. 11
- 37:32-5 record with 24 touchdowns and 11 picks. Carson
- 37:35Wentz, 2021, 17 starts. 9 -8 record with 27 touchdowns,
- 37:397 picks. Matt Ryan, 2022, 12 starts. A 4 -7 -1
- 37:44record with 14 touchdowns, 13 picks. Sam Ellinger,
- 37:482022, 3 starts. No recorded stats at all. Nick
- 37:52Foles, 2022, 2 starts. An 0 -2 record with no
- 37:56touchdowns, 4 picks. Anthony Richardson in 2023,
- 38:004 starts. 2 -2 record with 3 touchdowns, 1 pick.
- 38:03Anthony Richardson in 2024, 11 starts, 6 -5 record
- 38:08with 8 touchdowns, 12 picks. Gardner Minshew,
- 38:112023, 13 starts, 7 -6 record with 15 touchdowns,
- 38:169 picks. Joe Flacco, 2024, 6 starts, 2 -4 record
- 38:21with 12 touchdowns, 7 picks. Here's Daniel Jones'
- 38:25last year with the Giants. 341 attempts for 216
- 38:30completions, 2 ,070 passing yards, 8 touchdowns,
- 38:347 picks, 6 .1 yards per attempt. Folks, this
- 38:38move was not made because Daniel Jones lit it
- 38:41up in every single preseason game. This move
- 38:44was not made because Anthony Richardson didn't
- 38:46show anything. This move was not made because
- 38:49of favoritism or anything like that. This move
- 38:52was made to save their jobs. Because Shane Steichen
- 38:56and Chris Ballard are on the hot seat right now.
- 38:59This roster is one of the better rosters in the
- 39:03AFC, let alone in the division. You have Jonathan
- 39:06Taylor. You have a really good offensive line.
- 39:08You have Alec Pierce. You just drafted Tyler
- 39:12Warren. And that's just on the offense. On the
- 39:15defense, you have DeForest Buckner. Latu Latu.
- 39:18Traverius Ward that you just got in free agency.
- 39:21Kenny Moore. Zaire Franklin. You have a lot of
- 39:24great weapons. And like I've said before in previous
- 39:27episodes, what's been the number one thing that's
- 39:30prevented them from taking things to the next
- 39:32level? Bad and inconsistent quarterback play.
- 39:35And so now they're about to go into another year
- 39:38where most likely they're not going to go anywhere
- 39:41and they're going to underperform. So if you're
- 39:43Colts ownership, you are looking at Shane Stikton
- 39:47and Chris Ballard under a microscope. You are
- 39:51looking at them in a way that says, listen, I
- 39:53need you guys to show me why you guys deserve
- 39:57to stay here. Because right now, both of them
- 40:00have underperformed. And granted, Chris Ballard
- 40:03has built this team. Chris Ballard has weathered
- 40:07the storm since Andrew Luck has retired. But
- 40:10guess what? Time's a ticking, man. Time's a ticking.
- 40:15They're looking for their return of investment
- 40:17with Anthony Richardson, and so far they haven't
- 40:20seen it. Now, granted, I will say this. Anthony
- 40:23Richardson deserves some blame. Shane Stuyton
- 40:26deserves some blame. Chris Ballard deserves some
- 40:30blame. Everybody deserves some blame. But the
- 40:33number one question that we must ask ourselves
- 40:35here, folks, who failed who? Who failed who in
- 40:41this situation? Now, granted, I'll be honest
- 40:43here. From a fan perspective, when Anthony Richardson
- 40:47was coming out of Florida, I was like, wow, he
- 40:50has a lot of intangibles. He can run, got a killer
- 40:53of an arm, really athletic, can extend the plays.
- 40:56He can do it all. But then once I did a little
- 41:00bit of digging, I did some research. Oh, oh,
- 41:03he don't have a whole lot of starts. Oh, he hasn't
- 41:06played a whole lot of time in college. Oh, no,
- 41:07this ain't going to work. This is not going to
- 41:09work at all. And now you see it. Mind you, Anthony
- 41:15Richardson has not helped this case at all since
- 41:18being drafted. Because you know why? You can't
- 41:22go and you can't say on another podcast that
- 41:26playing in the NFL is easier than college football.
- 41:29Better yet, I'm going to pull up the quote and
- 41:32I'm going to tell you exactly what he said word
- 41:35for word. And I quote, playing in the NFL, I
- 41:39feel like it's easier than college. For real,
- 41:41for real, in college, you got players like they
- 41:43good and they know they good, but they're not
- 41:46as confident. They got to rely on other players
- 41:48to do this for them to do that. He also goes
- 41:51on to say this. In the league, everybody trying
- 41:53to work to stay in the league, trying to keep
- 41:56their job. That just lets me know I ain't got
- 41:58to do too much. I'm going to do my job and he
- 42:01got to do his job. It's going to work, end quote.
- 42:03That right there was strike one. Strike two slash
- 42:08three was you tapping out. When you tapped out
- 42:12of that game, that sealed your fate with the
- 42:16team. Because every little bit of confidence
- 42:19that anybody had, whether it be front office
- 42:22personnel, whether it be scouts, whether it be
- 42:25players, whether it be coaches, whomever, they
- 42:28lost all of it the minute that you tapped out.
- 42:30And the fact that you used such a shitty, a really
- 42:36shitty, and I mean shitty excuse. on why you
- 42:40tapped out, made you lose everybody in that locker
- 42:44room. Because guess what? Those offensive linemen
- 42:47that are protecting you, they don't have a chance
- 42:50to take a break. You know when they take a break?
- 42:53When they're off on the field. All four downs,
- 42:56they're on that field. Tired, hurt, body feeling
- 43:01like crap, they're there. And the fact that you
- 43:05tapped out, you lost everybody in that room,
- 43:08brother. Let me just read to you his starts.
- 43:13In total, he had 24 career starts in college.
- 43:1924. Now let's compare that to some notable quarterbacks
- 43:26within the last, I don't know, maybe 15, 20 years,
- 43:29okay? Jaden Daniels, 55. Peyton Manning, 45.
- 43:34Lamar Jackson. 38. Eli Manning, 43. Tom Brady,
- 43:3829. Ben Roethlisberger, 38. Jalen Hurts, 56.
- 43:43Baker Mayfield, 48. Out of all of those people
- 43:46that I just read, Tom Brady was the only one
- 43:51who had the least amount of starts out of everybody.
- 43:54In case in point, that's why he was drafted where
- 43:56he was drafted. In case in point, that's why
- 43:59it took him so long to hit the field. Because
- 44:01why? He had Drew Bledsoe ahead of him. And he
- 44:05wasn't going to hit the field anytime soon. So
- 44:08what he had to do? He had to sit. He had to wait.
- 44:10He had to be developed. He had to go through
- 44:11different things. So explain to me how the Colts
- 44:16decided, you know what? We're going to draft
- 44:19somebody because they have a bigger arm. They're
- 44:23athletic. They're strong. And they're big. And
- 44:26they resemble people like a Cam Newton, a Ben
- 44:29Roethlisberger. You know, their body quarterbacks
- 44:32that were able to move during their heyday. We
- 44:35like that. That's like you going to one of those
- 44:38crappy little car dealerships that's on the side
- 44:40of the road, maybe by a McDonald's or a gas station
- 44:44or somewhere. They probably got those same cars
- 44:46that's been in that parking lot for about five
- 44:48or ten years. And you see one of your favorite
- 44:50cars that's in there. And you stop and you go
- 44:53and you check out that car. And the little car
- 44:56salesman come out and probably got some ketchup
- 44:58on the side of his shirt. You know what I mean?
- 45:00Probably just finished smoking a cigarette and
- 45:02drinking a hot Coca -Cola. And he says, how can
- 45:06I help you? And you say, you know what? I want
- 45:08that car. And he tells you, hey, that car got
- 45:11a lot of miles and it's going to need a lot of
- 45:14work. You say, you know what? Scratch it. Don't
- 45:17care. Still want it. And you get that car knowing
- 45:19all the things that are coming with it. That's
- 45:23exactly what the Colts did with Anthony Richardson.
- 45:25You knew that by drafting Anthony Richardson
- 45:30with the fourth pick in the draft, you are inheriting
- 45:35a project. Now, here's the thing that I think
- 45:40we need to talk about, okay? Because I want to
- 45:43go a few different ways. I'm like that guy off
- 45:46of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, that one
- 45:49meme where he got his hand on the wall and there's
- 45:51a whole bunch of... connecting points and whatnot
- 45:54that's that that's where we are with this situation
- 45:56the brown situation okay so think about this
- 45:59for a second here folks a project is something
- 46:02where it is not completely finished and it needs
- 46:07time to be worked on okay have you ever drove
- 46:12through a neighborhood a newer neighborhood to
- 46:14be specific and there's maybe about two or three
- 46:17houses and They're not really done yet. They're
- 46:20still in the working phases. They still have
- 46:23the skeleton of the house. They haven't put up
- 46:27the drywall or any furniture or hardwood floor,
- 46:32if they're going to do that, or a fireplace or
- 46:34anything. They just have the foundational stuff
- 46:36up. That is called a project. Anthony Richardson
- 46:40was a project. And yet, the Colts said, you know
- 46:44what? We still are going to draft him. that most
- 46:49likely he's going to have to sit for at least
- 46:51two years just for him to have at least a legitimate
- 46:55chance to possibly show something. And instead
- 46:59of you allowing him to sit, you thrusted him
- 47:03to the starting quarterback role, knowing that
- 47:06he is a project, knowing that he doesn't have
- 47:10a lot of experience playing football. And in
- 47:12doing so, the first year, he doesn't play as
- 47:16many games, he gets hurt. Okay, shut him down
- 47:18for the season. Okay, cool. Then next year, he's
- 47:22not really playing his best. So what you do,
- 47:24you put in Joe Flacco. Joe Flacco isn't playing
- 47:27his best. So what you do, you put Anthony Richardson
- 47:29back in. And then you have the whole conundrum
- 47:32with the tapping out and, you know, the rest
- 47:34is history. And so here we are. Everyone has
- 47:36a hand in blame with this entire situation. Because
- 47:41you know what's going to happen now? Most likely,
- 47:44the Colts are going to draft a quarterback next
- 47:47year. And I haven't talked about the quarterback
- 47:49draft prospects. I haven't even talked about
- 47:51the draft yet. But this is just a little bit
- 47:53of a taste. I can assure you there will be at
- 47:57least seven to eight teams that are going to
- 48:01be looking at a quarterback next year. And the
- 48:03Colts will probably be one of them. There's going
- 48:06to be drafting quarterback fairly high because
- 48:08I don't expect this team to go anywhere, especially
- 48:11with someone like a Daniel Jones at center. So
- 48:14explain to me why we've gotten to this point.
- 48:17Explain to me why you feel like Daniel Jones
- 48:21is the best option available. And granted, I
- 48:26understand that that first preseason game, Anthony
- 48:30Richardson messed up his pinky. It was a really
- 48:32nasty injury. If I were you, I would not look
- 48:34it up. I get all of that. But you would have
- 48:39at least wanted to give Anthony Richardson a
- 48:41chance. Just so he can still put out something.
- 48:47Rather than give it to Daniel Jones. Now, granted,
- 48:50we should have seen the tea leaves prior to this
- 48:53point when they gave the type of money that they
- 48:55gave to Daniel Jones. You're not going to give
- 48:58a backup quarterback $14 million. No, you're
- 49:03going to give a quarterback $14 million if you
- 49:05believe in your whole heart that he is going
- 49:08to be the starting quarterback week one. Name
- 49:13me one backup quarterback. That's making $14
- 49:16million. I'll wait. Can't find any? Exactly what
- 49:19I thought. So if you're the Colts, if you're
- 49:23ownership, if you're the scouting department,
- 49:26if you're anybody in that front office, you are
- 49:29crossing your fingers, you are crossing your
- 49:32pinky toes, you are crossing everything that
- 49:34you can possibly cross in hope that Daniel Jones
- 49:38show a little bit of something. If he doesn't,
- 49:42they're going to clean house quickly. Shane Stuyton
- 49:45will be gone. Chris Ballard will be gone. Everybody
- 49:47else will be gone. Because again, this team is
- 49:52ready to be competitive. This team should be
- 49:56competing with the Texans or at least beating
- 49:59the Texans to win the division every single year.
- 50:05I just listed to you some of the notable players
- 50:08that are on this team. And you mean to tell me
- 50:11this team underperforms every single year for
- 50:14the past three years? I'm sorry. There's no excuses
- 50:18with that. And granted, I understand why the
- 50:21Colts brought in Shane Steichen because they
- 50:23were thinking, okay, if he can refine Jalen Hurts,
- 50:26maybe he can do the same thing with someone like
- 50:28Anthony Richardson. You want to know the difference?
- 50:31Jalen Hurts played 56 games in college. He had
- 50:36experience with Alabama and then with Oklahoma.
- 50:39So he had well enough experience. He was very
- 50:43much comfortable with the game of football. You
- 50:47can't say the same thing with Anthony Richardson.
- 50:49And so now here we are. Now, if you're Anthony
- 50:52Richardson, most likely they're going to let
- 50:54go of you next year. Now, me personally, I will
- 50:59look at the Rams. I will look at the Vikings.
- 51:02I will look at places where I know I'm going
- 51:06to be refined as a quarterback. Sean McVay, Sean
- 51:10Payton, Kevin O 'Connell, Kyle Shanahan. Those
- 51:15are the people that you need to be going to,
- 51:16Andy Reid. You should not be going to anybody
- 51:19that has no experience in developing a quarterback.
- 51:23And I mean truly developing a quarterback. Kevin
- 51:27O 'Connell, he's done it. He has a track record.
- 51:30Sean McVay, he has a track record. And now me
- 51:33personally, if it's my personal opinion, I'm
- 51:35going to Sean McVay first. Because I've seen
- 51:38what he's done with Baker Mayfield and what he
- 51:41did with Sam Darnold. Actually, no, no, that
- 51:43was Kyle Shanahan. Forget about that. Forget
- 51:45about that, okay? The fact of the matter is this.
- 51:49This was not a performance -based decision. This
- 51:52was, I'm trying to save our jobs for another
- 51:55year decision. And I'll just leave it there.
- 51:58Now, the last topic we need to talk about, the
- 52:00most controversial topic that we need to talk
- 52:02about, and that is the Browns, okay? This may
- 52:05be another rant as well. So yesterday, Kevin
- 52:08Stefanski decided to make the decision on who's
- 52:11going to be the backup for Joe Flacco, and it's
- 52:13going to be Dylan Gabriel. Now, I've seen a lot
- 52:16of clips. I've seen a lot of podcasts. I've seen
- 52:19a lot of interviews. Seen a lot of different
- 52:20forms of content about Shador Sanders and the
- 52:24backup quarterback role and just this entire
- 52:27quarterback conundrum that the Browns have been
- 52:29in. And I think the evaluation between Dylan
- 52:32Gabriel and Shador Sanders. is more personal
- 52:35than professional. We don't see a whole lot of
- 52:39people that are dissecting the plays between
- 52:42Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders. Instead, what
- 52:45we see a lot is grown men who are basically picking
- 52:49apart every single mistake that Shador Sanders
- 52:52does both on and off the field. I remember vividly
- 52:56when word got out that Shador Sanders got a speeding
- 52:59ticket. The next day, everyone's saying, oh,
- 53:02that's somebody that you don't want on the team.
- 53:04That's not a good move. That's not a good idea.
- 53:06Blah, blah, blah. You shouldn't be doing that.
- 53:10Let me tell you something. Imagine you're 25,
- 53:1326 years old. You got a really fast car. Think
- 53:16of your favorite fast car. Me, personally, it's
- 53:19probably a Dodge Viper. Love Dodge Vipers. And
- 53:23imagine you're on the highway. Maybe about 12,
- 53:27maybe 1 o 'clock in the morning. Nobody's in
- 53:31sight. Nobody's to your left. Nobody's to your
- 53:33right. You got a clear road for as long as you
- 53:37can see. You're not going to want to test that
- 53:40bad boy. You're not going to want to push it
- 53:42to the limit just a little bit. That defeats
- 53:45the purpose of having a fast car. You ask any
- 53:48person that has had a fast car. They will all
- 53:52say the same thing. I have at least tested it
- 53:55once. But you had so many people, including the
- 54:00GM, who was very critical of Shador doing this.
- 54:03When in actuality, all the GM just need to say,
- 54:06we are handling this internally. Everything is
- 54:09fine. And then you just tell Shador, hey, listen,
- 54:12man, when you go on this road at this time at
- 54:15night, make sure you be careful, man, because
- 54:17the cops be everywhere and you really want all
- 54:20that. All right. Now, if this is a repeated pattern,
- 54:23then you need to have a more intense conversation
- 54:26with Shador. But I didn't see nobody saying anything
- 54:30about Miles Garrett when he got his up -team
- 54:33speeding ticket. I didn't see anybody saying
- 54:36that. So if you're going to hold people responsibly,
- 54:40then you need to be transparent, regardless if
- 54:43they are a rookie or the face of the franchise.
- 54:46Everyone must be held accountable. But clearly,
- 54:50that's not the case. And we also need to talk
- 54:53about Dylan Gabriel saying the things that he
- 54:56said, which we all know was directed at who?
- 54:59Shador Sanders. You cannot say, and I quote,
- 55:03yeah, it's just part of it. You know, there's
- 55:05entertainers and there's competitors. And I totally
- 55:08understand that. But my job is to compete. And
- 55:11that's what I'm focused on doing, end quote.
- 55:13You cannot say something like that without receiving
- 55:16major backlash from it. Nobody said anything
- 55:19about you being an entertainer or a competitor.
- 55:24Nobody said anything. So why are you bringing
- 55:28this up? I understand that some people prefer
- 55:32one quarterback over the other. But in actuality,
- 55:37what we need to do is just observe who put out
- 55:41the best tape. Who performed the best in this
- 55:45situation? And in my mind, I would say it's a
- 55:50tie. Shador Sanders had one good game. Dylan
- 55:54Gabriel had one good half. That's it. It's a
- 55:57tie. You can't really do a real analysis anymore
- 56:01when it comes to quarterbacks because the preseason
- 56:04is so short now. It's only three games. Three
- 56:06games really isn't enough to really make a true
- 56:09decision on who's going to be the backup quarterback.
- 56:12Let me just read to you the stat lines for all
- 56:14three of these games, okay? So, Shador's stat
- 56:16line against the Panthers, 23 attempts for 14
- 56:19completions, 138 passing yards, two touchdowns.
- 56:22Dylan Gabriel's stat line against the Eagles,
- 56:2418 attempts for 13 completions, 143 passing yards,
- 56:29one pick, 7 .9 yards per attempt. This is the
- 56:32stat line with Dylan Gabriel and Shador when
- 56:35they face the Rams. Dylan Gabriel, 19 attempts
- 56:38for 12 completions, 129 passing yards, 6 .8 yards
- 56:43per attempt, and one touchdown. Shador Sanders,
- 56:45six attempts for three completions, 14 passing
- 56:48yards, and 2 .3 yards per attempt. Now, here's
- 56:51the thing. By the time Shador Sanders got into
- 56:53the game, the offensive line was atrocious. The
- 56:57same weapons that Joe Flacco and Dylan Gabriel
- 57:00had wasn't there anymore. So in some ways, one
- 57:03could assume that the Browns put Shador Sanders
- 57:06into battle with a butter knife and a half -broken
- 57:10twig. And said, you know what? Fight your way
- 57:13out of this. And yes, he did take some unnecessary
- 57:17sacks. Yes, he needs to start throwing the ball
- 57:20away. This is my little saying that I came up
- 57:23with. Throw the ball away, live another day.
- 57:26If you throw the ball away, no one cares. Believe
- 57:29it or not, a lot of quarterback coaches, offensive
- 57:32coordinators, and even coaches would rather for
- 57:35their quarterback to just throw it out of bounds
- 57:38than to try to make the big play and then risk
- 57:41possibly having a fumble, interception, pick
- 57:45six, whatever. Now, I will say this. Shador Sanders
- 57:49did take a sack that was unnecessary, and then
- 57:52it pushed the team way back, I think, maybe 30
- 57:55yards, if I'm not mistaken. So, yes, Shador didn't
- 58:00play his best ball. But at the same time, we
- 58:03also have to realize that, listen, if you're
- 58:06going to have a true quarterback competition,
- 58:08then you needed to keep at least two or three
- 58:11starting offensive linemen on the field, two
- 58:14or three weapons on the field. Because guess
- 58:16what? As soon as that game was over, 24 to 48
- 58:20hours later, a lot of those offensive linemen,
- 58:24if not all those offensive linemen, were cut.
- 58:27Those receivers, tight ends, and running backs
- 58:30were cut as well. So there was no point in putting
- 58:35Shador in, in my mind. Then you have to talk
- 58:39about Shador not being put in for the two -minute
- 58:41drill. The two -minute drill is what separates
- 58:45average quarterbacks to elite quarterbacks. We
- 58:49have seen games where Peyton Manning isn't playing
- 58:51his best ball. But when the two -minute warning
- 58:54is over, laser -focused. executing every single
- 58:58play, touchdowns, converting third downs into
- 59:02first downs, you name it, he's doing it all.
- 59:04We've seen all the greats do it, and that's what
- 59:07makes them great. So I don't understand why the
- 59:11Browns are doing this, but it's leaving a lot
- 59:14of people just scratching their head trying to
- 59:16figure out what in the hell are the Browns doing.
- 59:19But at the same time, how many quarterbacks have
- 59:22the Browns gone through in the last, what, 15,
- 59:2420 years? Not surprised. So, do I think Shador
- 59:31Sanders is going to play at some point in this
- 59:33season? Yes. I do think at some point, probably
- 59:38close to maybe the last two or three games of
- 59:40the season when they probably realize, hey, we're
- 59:43not going anywhere, we're not going to the playoffs,
- 59:45we're eliminated, blah, blah, blah, yada, yada,
- 59:47all that other good stuff. They'll probably put
- 59:48Shador in for maybe about a game or two. And
- 59:52they may do the same thing for Dylan Gabriel
- 59:53as well. Because I don't think Joe Flacco is
- 59:56holding up for 17 weeks. I just don't personally,
- 1:00:00but that's just my personal opinion. But I'm
- 1:00:03going to end this episode here. If you guys like

- 1:02:31I still have some of these college football games
- 1:02:33and give my analysis on that. We still have to
- 1:02:35talk about the draft and, you know, my predictions
- 1:02:37and my observations. based off of what I've read
- 1:02:41and heard and my own analysis of certain positional
- 1:02:44groups and everything. So we got a lot of stuff
- 1:02:47to talk about. And remember, the regular season
- 1:02:49starts next week. So you already know we're going
- 1:02:52back to, you know, previewing certain games and
- 1:02:55talking about the games and everything else and
- 1:02:57more, right? So as always, this is your GM Kale
