- 2:39you want to call him. He is on the board.
- 2:41As always, Mr. Board OPS man, it's been a crazy, crazy week
- 2:45and weekend for me. I, I would say it was probably
- 2:49very unlucky and I, I don't know what luck is and I don't believe
- 2:54in luck, but if there's anything that we can commit to, it's if
- 3:00there is luck. I am probably the most unlucky
- 3:03person, so I don't want to get into it.
- 3:06But anybody that's listening that knows me and knows what
- 3:09happened over the last, I don't know, 124 hours, I would say 200
- 3:18hours if I could, but it hasn't been good.
- 3:20And yeah, so I was trying to enjoy the weekend.
- 3:25I got a chance to watch The Jets absolutely up and win a game.
- 3:28But I'm not going to hate because Aaron Glenn has proven
- 3:31himself once again to be a competent coach because now the
- 3:35players are actually playing for him.
- 3:37So maybe the bad seeds in the locker room, the Quinton
- 3:40Williams or I don't know, Saws Garner who didn't really look
- 3:44good in his first game as an Indianapolis Colt.
- 3:47Maybe they were the reason why this team were not playing at
- 3:51the top level that we thought they were going to be.
- 3:53ESP NS Adam Schefner reports that the New York Giants have
- 3:58fired head coach Brian Dabel after 3 1/2 seasons with the
- 4:02team. This came after the Giants blue
- 4:04another double digit lead with under 4 minutes to go against
- 4:09the Bears on Sunday, the 4th double digit lead they have
- 4:13blown this season, all on the road.
- 4:17After winning nine games and making the playoffs in Gables
- 4:20first season in 2022, the Giants have only won 11 games since,
- 4:25second worst in the NFL behind only the Titans.
- 4:29The Giants went two and eight under Gable this season and he
- 4:34finished 20 and 40 and one as the Giants head coach.
- 4:39His 336 win percentage is bad enough for 18th worst all time
- 4:45for coaches who coach 50 games or more. 4 spots worse than Jets
- 4:50legend AK Bambi Sala at 22. Reports say that Jackson Dart
- 4:58being given designed runs and Dart getting concussed in the
- 5:04game was the last straw for Giant owner John Mayra.
- 5:09But many off the field incidents added up over the years with
- 5:14Dabel. From the lack of player
- 5:16development to his feud with former defensive coordinator
- 5:20Wick Martindale to this year being fined for going into the
- 5:25blue medical tent, which is against the rules to try to get
- 5:30Dart back on the Joe Shane keeps his job as the GM for now and
- 5:36offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will take over as interim head
- 5:41coach. Now Mike Kafka has been wanting
- 5:44this opportunity for the last three seasons.
- 5:47I mean three seasons because he he interviewed for the job.
- 5:51He wanted the job, but the Giants decided to go with Dabel
- 5:56with his his success under the the Buffalo Bills.
- 6:00And he might go, he might go back to the Buffalo Bills after
- 6:03this season because Buffalo has Brady and he will be up for a
- 6:06coaching job possibly. We'll see how this offense ends
- 6:10at the end of the season. But I do believe Brian Gables, a
- 6:13great offensive coordinator, there's no question, Very cocky,
- 6:17very confident guy. Don't know him personally, never
- 6:20met him. I know Fitch met him.
- 6:22I know Nathan has met him. I know a lot of people have met
- 6:25this guy. Lost a lot of weight, loves
- 6:27wearing his Nike Jordan sneakers on the sidelines and looking
- 6:31pretty now for his lady. The New York Giants have not
- 6:35played good football and I wouldn't blame just his
- 6:40coaching, lack of really talent around them.
- 6:43And you look at, I blame Joe Shane on that.
- 6:46You have Darry Slayton, who's your number one guy.
- 6:49It seems like Robinson looks like he's a player, but he's too
- 6:52small to be a number one. I don't know if he's a bona fide
- 6:55#2 he's a slot guy. So with the lack of offensive
- 6:59weapons that they have had over the last couple of years and
- 7:03deciding to part ways with Saquon, Saquon Barkley and then
- 7:07Cam Scataboo looking like he was, I don't know, a Battingham
- 7:11Ram who looked like he was going to be a player and then goes
- 7:14down the way he did early this season, you wonder where are the
- 7:21Giants when it comes to their future?
- 7:23You look at this offensive line, there's a lot of questions to
- 7:26it. Is Thomas going to be there for
- 7:28the long haul? The guy can't stay healthy.
- 7:32And then you'll look at some of the other guys on this line that
- 7:35we've we've spoken about. I mean, Neil, Evan Neil, who's a
- 7:38first round talent in the top 10 is no longer in the starting
- 7:42lineup. We don't even know if he's a
- 7:44part of this roster anymore. You have Thibodeau, who was a
- 7:49first round talent, top ten pick in the same draft.
- 7:52Is he really going to make this team in this roster next year?
- 7:55Do they give him an extension? And the answer would probably be
- 7:58no. You look at the offensive
- 8:02weapons that they have provided under Gable.
- 8:06I mean, it's very scarce, or as anybody would say in different
- 8:11parts of the country, scarce. There is nothing that sticks out
- 8:17to me with the accomplishment except the first year of the
- 8:21head coach that Gable was the guy.
- 8:25Now, there are a few guys that I can tell you would be a slam
- 8:28dunk for the New York Giants. Slam dunk.
- 8:31And one of them used to coach the Dallas Cowboys and the Green
- 8:35Bay Packers. And if I were the Giants, I'd be
- 8:38making a call to him right now. But I'll get into that in just a
- 8:42few moments. The fact here is this is an
- 8:46organization that has been known to win.
- 8:50They have won four Super Bowls and remember their
- 8:54accomplishments with under two of the greatest coaches of all
- 8:57times, Bill Parcells and Tom Coughlin.
- 9:00These guys were successful because of the way they coached,
- 9:04the way they pushed their players.
- 9:06They stood by their beliefs. Gable tried to follow that
- 9:12belief and the players were not following him.
- 9:16I don't believe the coaches trusted him and I don't think
- 9:19the players trusted him. After the first season of Giants
- 9:23football with him under the helm, you look at the coaching
- 9:27staff, Wink Martindale. Wink Martindale couldn't stand
- 9:31him and this is a guy that was good friends with Dabel and
- 9:35that's why Wink was hired by Dabel to be his defensive
- 9:38coordinator because they were so close and so tight.
- 9:41Their families were so tight and Wink wanted to get far, far away
- 9:46from Dabel. After what, 1 1/2 seasons?
- 9:49Kafka. There's been back and forth
- 9:51banter that him and Mike Kafka didn't like each other and the
- 9:55only reason why Kafka has a job is because John Mayra likes Mike
- 9:59Kafka and that's why he kept his job because I believe Gable
- 10:04wanted to get rid of him in the offseason this past year.
- 10:09I don't know what is there to look forward to with this team
- 10:14in this roster. Now.
- 10:15Dexter Lawrence might not be 100% healthy.
- 10:19He got paid a lot of money about a year and a half ago.
- 10:21I still think Dexter Lawrence has a lot left in him.
- 10:24I think they're they're young first round rookie from Penn
- 10:29State. Looks like he's special.
- 10:31There's no question that he is. But I question their secondary.
- 10:36I question their offense stability.
- 10:39They have no offensive line to really look forward to next
- 10:42year. And Jackson Dart, who I think
- 10:44could be the future of this organization, only time will
- 10:48tell, is been running for his dear life.
- 10:51Why? Because Gable has thrown him out
- 10:54there to really be killed. There is nobody protecting this
- 10:59kid. He's running right, he's running
- 11:01left, he's scrambling, trying to figure out who he's going to
- 11:04throw to. Nobody is open.
- 11:06And then he's running up the gut, running to the side,
- 11:09getting killed, getting smacked by defensive lineman over £350.
- 11:13Eventually this kids going to go down.
- 11:16He's not going to get back up. And Eli made an interesting
- 11:21statement recently on his, what do they call it, the Manning
- 11:25cast. He said something about Jackson
- 11:28Dart because he likes Jackson Dart played in the same school
- 11:32as him in college. So he an Ole Miss.
- 11:35He he he roots him on and he, he believed in Jackson Dart when
- 11:39the Giants drafted him. He said that if Gable doesn't
- 11:43clean up his offensive stability at the helm, this kids going to
- 11:49be dead by the by year 2. And now he's getting fired.
- 11:55I I wonder if you're a giant fan, what is the future of this
- 12:02team if it isn't Jackson dart? I mean, seriously, think about
- 12:06it. If you look at this roster right
- 12:08now and Abdul Carter special, he is and and I think Dexter
- 12:14Lawrence has a lot left in him. I don't, I don't care what he
- 12:17and Burns, he's expected, but he's had a great season.
- 12:21He's going to be an all pro player.
- 12:23But how many years does Burns have?
- 12:24He's 27. I think he's 27 years old.
- 12:27How many years does this guy have it at the top of his game?
- 12:29Maybe 2. Because linebackers usually
- 12:32start to, you know, lose their, their athletic ability at the
- 12:37age of 2930. They're not the same.
- 12:40They're they're not as fast, they're not as athletic after
- 12:45the age of 29. So how many years does Burns
- 12:48have left as a an elite player? So you're, you're going to
- 12:51depend on two players that you have maybe 3 and, and you hope
- 12:55scatter boot comes back and he's he's a good #2 maybe a number
- 13:00one in the future. There is nothing Thomas, you
- 13:02can't, you can't, you can't believe he's going to stay
- 13:05healthy. I mean, the guy hasn't stayed
- 13:07healthy since he's come into the league.
- 13:10So where do they go and what do they do?
- 13:14And my answer to that is very simple.
- 13:17You have to bring in a veteran coach that you're going to be
- 13:21able to build offensively with. With Jackson Dark.
- 13:27You need a good, offensively minded, offensive minded coach
- 13:33that has been in the NFC, has been successful in the NFC for a
- 13:37significant amount of time, even a Super Bowl championship
- 13:41speaking. You know what I'm speaking
- 13:42about? McCarthy.
- 13:44That's right, Mike McCarthy is the guy.
- 13:49If you're a giant fan, Mike McCarthy is a slam dunk.
- 13:54You cannot look and bring in a rookie coach.
- 13:57Once again. The Jets have done it for years,
- 14:01the Browns have done it for years, and these teams are
- 14:05unsuccessful. Miami has done it for years.
- 14:09The Giants, with their success, they have done well when
- 14:13bringing in veteran guys, guys that have been successful in
- 14:18their division or their conference.
- 14:23And I believe Mike McCarthy is an absolute slam dunk guy and
- 14:28also a guy that understands how to play in the NFC East.
- 14:31Why? Because he was successful in the
- 14:34NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys.
- 14:37Think about it, the Cowboys success when he was there, I
- 14:42think it was five seasons with 10 or more wins.
- 14:45Think about that. The Giants haven't won 50 games
- 14:50in, I don't know, 7-8 years. This guy's won 50 games in five
- 14:56years, maybe even less. You need a guy that's going to
- 15:01help this kid develop and I believe the way he can run his
- 15:06offense and you need to figure out what his strengths are in
- 15:10the pocket and how you can keep him safe in the pocket instead
- 15:14of running out of it. So he gets killed and and to me,
- 15:17the West Coast offense is to me the most important when it comes
- 15:22to Jackson darts success for his future.
- 15:26Think about it. Aaron Rodgers played in Mike
- 15:30McCarthy's offense. Now when Aaron Rodgers came into
- 15:34the league, he was a mobile quarterback.
- 15:36Any control he was, he was a great thrower, obviously great
- 15:39arm, but he was one of the best at figuring out when to run,
- 15:42move inside and out of the pocket, step into the pocket or
- 15:45even reverse. Do the things that you want your
- 15:48quarter ball quarterback to do with mobility.
- 15:52Jackson darts obviously a lot more athletic, lot more
- 15:56mobility. I, and I'm not saying that he
- 15:59has Aaron Rodgers, his arm strength, but what I can tell
- 16:03you is his ability to figure out and hold on to the ball as long
- 16:08as he does in the pocket and make plays the way he does is a
- 16:12perfect fit in the West Coast offense.
- 16:15It's perfect. And again, the what Mike
- 16:18McCarthy does so very well is make sure that it keeps his
- 16:22quarterback out of harm's way. Say whatever you want about Dak
- 16:26Prescott, Dak Prescott, besides the injury, the, the bad injury
- 16:30he had and, and again, Dak Prescott decided to move outside
- 16:34of the pocket when his leg got bent, you know, bent back the
- 16:39way it did. That wasn't Mike McCarthy's
- 16:42offense. That was Dak Prescott deciding
- 16:44to move outside of the pocket when he should have stayed in
- 16:46the pocket. Mike McCarthy is the perfect fit
- 16:50for the New York Giants. He is the perfect John Mara.
- 16:54I'm giving you a tip, John. If you're listening to the show
- 16:56right now, which you probably not, you should be reaching out
- 17:00to the agent of Mike McCarthy right now as we speak because to
- 17:04me, there is nobody else out there that I would pick to be my
- 17:09next head coach. Nobody.
- 17:11You need to bring in a veteran. There is no way this team's
- 17:14success is going to come back the way it did with Tom Coughlin
- 17:19and Bill Parcells. Look at the guys that have
- 17:22they've been successful over the last 30 years.
- 17:24Bill Parcells, a guy that wasn't a rookie head coach that
- 17:27understands how he wants to run his his offense in his defense.
- 17:32Then you had obviously now I know a lot of people are going
- 17:35to start to bring out Bill Belichick.
- 17:37I know Bill Belichick's name is going to be brought up probably
- 17:40in the next couple of weeks. Why?
- 17:42Because he's not doing so well in North Carolina.
- 17:44And this guy's been successful over there with New England and
- 17:49he's he loves the Giants organization.
- 17:51As he's come out and said it, one of his long lasting dreams
- 17:54was to coach the New York Giants.
- 17:56So maybe you'll hear Bill Belichick's name being brought
- 17:59up. To me, the guy is Mike McCarthy.
- 18:04And I think that if you're a Giant fan and you're sitting
- 18:07here right now and you're wondering what makes more sense
- 18:11going into the offseason, because the Giants are not going
- 18:14to have as much money as they would have had if they decided
- 18:21this offseason not to spend as much as they did.
- 18:25Now. Again, the Giants are going to
- 18:28have to figure out if neighbors just going to be healthy next
- 18:31year because neighbors might not be back until mid season.
- 18:37That's the that's the interesting thing.
- 18:39When is neighbors going to come back?
- 18:40Is he going to start the season on the IL or what?
- 18:44And that's probably what's going to happen because he I think he
- 18:47tore his, it tore his ACL, right Speedy.
- 18:50So he's going to be out until mid season.
- 18:53So what do you have to do in the offseason to bring in another
- 18:55guy, a number one guy? You're going to have to decide
- 18:58what you're doing. Robinson.
- 18:59Maybe you don't bring Robinson back and then you go after two.
- 19:02If the Giants believe there are two guys out there that they can
- 19:06add in the offseason where there are he's affordable or they're
- 19:09affordable. That's where the Giants and but
- 19:12they don't do anything until they find out and figure out who
- 19:14their next head coach is. And I'm going to tell you this
- 19:16right now, Joe Shane better not go to the Buffalo Bills and pick
- 19:21his next coach. He better not do that.
- 19:23He better not go to and bring Brady in or any of those guys.
- 19:27He needs to bring in a veteran guy.
- 19:30That makes a lot of sense for this team in this roster because
- 19:33there's a lot of questions on what they need to do to fix up
- 19:37the offensive part of their game.
- 19:39They have no offensive on. They got one guy, Schmitz.
- 19:42He's not the guy. He is not the future center of
- 19:45this team. Maybe you move from the guard.
- 19:47Neil is going to be gone. This this offensive line, which
- 19:50is a bunch of has beens guys that you don't want to be a part
- 19:54of your roster. They need to move on from.
- 19:57There's a lot of cleanup at Runyon.
- 19:59Yes, they brought in Runyon last year as well.
- 20:02I'm I'm reading what Fish said. I don't know if Runyon's that
- 20:05good, and I think the Giants overspent for him.
- 20:08Runyon did come from the Green Bay Packers, so maybe he knows
- 20:12that kind of offense. I I'm sure he understands how to
- 20:15run the West Coast offense. But I think that the Giants, if
- 20:18there's only one guy for this job, there's nobody else.
- 20:21And I don't want to hear about a college coach.
- 20:24I don't want to hear about one of these up and coming like
- 20:27Kingsbury or whatever his name is.
- 20:29Kingsbury. All these guys that I'm hearing
- 20:32names that the Giants are bringing up or some of the
- 20:34different writers that I've read over the last, I don't know, 10
- 20:38hours of guys that could be interested in this job.
- 20:41You bring in a veteran guy that knows how to win in the NFC,
- 20:47yeah, it's shifted back. Kind of when you look at the
- 20:50coaching trends of kind of 2018 to now, and I think that Jim
- 20:54Harbaugh and Sean Payton, the last two off seasons, those
- 20:57kinds of trends grown with a rookie quarterback are helping
- 21:00out a young quarterback like Herbert, rookie quarterback like
- 21:02Knicks with Sean Payton kind of shifted back to change.
- 21:05Those two teams are 8 and two and seven and three right now.
- 21:08And it's shifted away from the guys that are these young
- 21:11hotshot candidates that kind of fall off the Knicks each year.
- 21:14When you look at somebody like Bobby Slope with the Texans,
- 21:16everybody thought, oh, is he going to get another head
- 21:17coaching job because of the transformation Houston had with
- 21:20CJ Stroud? Then he gets fired the next
- 21:22year. That kind of trend does not help
- 21:24A-Team like the Giants, whose rosters are pretty far behind.
- 21:27You can get away with it if you're a team like the Seahawks.
- 21:29The Seahawks hired A inexperienced head coach, a guy
- 21:33that was barely a defensive coordinator in the NFL.
- 21:35He was a college defensive coordinator.
- 21:36Why? Because they have enough talent
- 21:37on their roster. The Giants are nowhere close to
- 21:39that right now. So they need somebody that could
- 21:42just be a quarterback developer for the until the rest of the
- 21:45team is able to catch up both injury wise because.
- 21:47I don't know if they need a quarterback developer.
- 21:49I I think they need a coach. They need a guy that knows
- 21:53offenses in the NFL and he understands how to run a
- 21:57successful offense. Say whatever you want about Dak
- 21:59Prescott. Look at his numbers when Mike
- 22:01McCarthy went there. Yeah, Mike, that's the perfect
- 22:03example of that because I think Dak was somebody who was kind of
- 22:06a middle tier quarterback until McCarthy got there.
- 22:08Then he had three top five quarterback seasons in that
- 22:11span. You were you were making the
- 22:12case from from MVPA few years ago.
- 22:14I remember in 2023 and they had DVOAY some of the best offenses
- 22:19we've seen in that stretch of time with with the Cowboys, even
- 22:22though again, they had didn't have a lot of talent on their
- 22:24roster. They had CD Lamb.
- 22:25They had a couple good years with Zeke, but like it wasn't
- 22:27like, all right, this is this is the Bengals offense that has all
- 22:30this receiving talent galore. It's a a different case with the
- 22:33Giants. When I think when you look at I,
- 22:35again, I compare it to the Broncos because the Broncos had
- 22:37very low expectations last year with again a couple young
- 22:41offensive players. Bow Nicks, that was still kind
- 22:42of a question mark and Dart, I think it away, is still kind of
- 22:45a question mark too, with some of his miscues on short throws,
- 22:47some of his strange. He's a rookie speed.
- 22:50And I think, but also all the strange decisions to run and not
- 22:53slide and that's. Coaching.
- 22:55And that's why I think you need somebody that is a stabilizer of
- 22:58that, regardless if they're going to win games right away.
- 23:00You can't just hope for the team like the Giants that lacks
- 23:03talent to be a quick fix right away.
- 23:05It's not going to be the 49ers going over there with Kyle
- 23:08Shanahan. And I think that's why a lot of
- 23:10these teams have been and miscue.
- 23:12I think that kind of trend like, oh, the 49ers in 2019 go from
- 23:15three wins to a Super Bowl. That's not going to happen
- 23:16overnight across the league. So the Giants, I agree with.
- 23:18You have to find. Stop finding those coaches from
- 23:21the Bills, the Chiefs, these other teams, just because they
- 23:23developed elite quarterbacks that play well without great
- 23:25coaching. Yeah, I think too, like, you
- 23:28know, we've always talked about it that there's, you know,
- 23:30always the fall guy, but I don't necessarily think it was a fall
- 23:33guy. I think like what you're talking
- 23:35about Errol too, like you have to bring a personality into with
- 23:38with what they've constructed, you know, this roster around
- 23:41right, like they have to have somebody that understands it
- 23:43brings in a mentality too, but also kind of understands that,
- 23:47you know, that younger generator and look, you know what he did
- 23:49with with deck and in his young years and the good years of Zeke
- 23:52before Zeke ate Zeke and when he could actually wear the belly
- 23:56shirts and then the belly shirt just ate itself at that point.
- 24:01So I think that's. It's a great, I mean, it's a
- 24:03great comparison to bring him in.
- 24:06It's always interesting like when I look at, you know, guys
- 24:08getting fired and, and kind of the trajectory that they thought
- 24:11they were going to go and. Do you?
- 24:14Do you? Fire just the coach or do you
- 24:16fire like the conglomerate as a whole?
- 24:18And would he have been fired if the injuries wouldn't have
- 24:22happened in the way that they they would?
- 24:24Have a. 100%, absolutely. There's no way he keeps his job.
- 24:28The only way he keeps his job is is if the Giants almost sneak
- 24:32into the playoffs or get into the playoffs.
- 24:34That's the only way he was keeping his job.
- 24:37There's just so many back end stuff that has gone on with this
- 24:41team, with the players and with the coaching staff.
- 24:44Think about it. How many coaches were he was he
- 24:47fighting with? How many coaches has he let go
- 24:50over the last two seasons because he couldn't get along
- 24:52with them and he chose those coaches to be on his coaching
- 24:55staff. So think about it.
- 24:57If he's not getting along with his own friends, he's not
- 25:00getting along with the right people and the players on his
- 25:03roster either. Java, you also bring up a good
- 25:05point too, like I think you need AGM that has enough trust to be
- 25:08able to rebuild this team. In his old image.
- 25:10I'll bring up two examples of that, one of which is the
- 25:12Seahawks. I think John Schneider has been
- 25:14there for a while, has a good GM and still drafted really well
- 25:18amidst Pete Carroll kind of losing his touch as the as a
- 25:21coach towards the end of his tenure with Seattle there and
- 25:23Phyllis really drafted well after that.
- 25:25They drafted unconventionally for a while.
- 25:26Then they bring in all these great offensive lineman they
- 25:28just drafted in Jigba and all these other guys and really
- 25:31built the team a different mold. And the and the other one is the
- 25:33Bears. Recently the bears were
- 25:34struggling to find a head coach, but they they have AGM and Ryan
- 25:37Polls has found some really good talent on that team.
- 25:39And now they finally have a coach not like ever flues and
- 25:41Ben Johnson that's not wasting talent.
- 25:43And now they look like a playoff team right now.
- 25:46So you know. Some guys as coaches just aren't
- 25:52great head coaches and they don't.
- 25:54They don't realize it until they have a chance.
- 25:56And I think we saw tables just not going to be a head coach in
- 26:00this league ever again. He's probably going to be a good
- 26:02offensive coordinator again at some point soon.
- 26:05Maybe not next year, but probably soon.
- 26:08He knows football. He gets guys open.
- 26:10That's all you can ask of an offensive coordinator, except
- 26:13you need to ask a lot more of a head coach.
- 26:15And you can tell the culture things.
- 26:17You know, he wasn't a culture creator.
- 26:20He might be a guy who can exist in a culture and be good for a
- 26:23culture. And I think he's proven that
- 26:25over his career with Belichick, with the Bills, that he is that
- 26:28guy. But when it was up to him to run
- 26:31the culture and to be that guy who needs to be even keeled on
- 26:34the sidelines, he never was. And look, my first year
- 26:39coaching, just high school kids, you don't know what you're
- 26:41doing. So what do you how do you react?
- 26:43Most people yell a lot. They blow a lot of whistles for
- 26:46up downs. And, you know, you kind of fake
- 26:48it till you make it. And every year I coached, I
- 26:52yelled less and less and blew the whistle to the point where I
- 26:55don't even have a whistle. I don't think I've used the
- 26:57whistle in like 5 years coaching football.
- 26:59I don't need it. I'm so confident with what I'm
- 27:01doing. And you could tell that, you
- 27:03know, you were hoping and I think Mara hoped that Dabel
- 27:06would kind of evolve over time. So they kept giving him chance
- 27:10over chance to kind of become that guy who can be composed on
- 27:14the sideline. And it was even worse this year
- 27:16than it was in the past. You know, he just couldn't
- 27:19compose himself. And I mean, and then you blow
- 27:23four games that you should have won by, I mean, Speedy, you got
- 27:27the advance stats on the win probability of those four games
- 27:30on the road that they should have won those games like 90% of
- 27:33the time for all four of them. And.
- 27:36Also fish like I think Dabol is first year and even 2023 even
- 27:40though they weren't a great team.
- 27:41He's still coaching aggressively too.
- 27:43We've seen him coach very stale at times, which never was like
- 27:47him. There's a 2022 a lot of the
- 27:49reasons why the Giants won so many close games is is he was
- 27:52aggressive, yet you're kicking a field goal on like the three
- 27:54yard line when you again, you could ice the game with a
- 27:56touchdown or you put the Bears really far back.
- 27:59As some of our commenters have mentioned, like the Giants were
- 28:02able to rush the pastor most of that game and get pressure on
- 28:05Caleb Williams. I just couldn't bring him down.
- 28:06But maybe in the back of the end zone you can force him to make a
- 28:08mistake. Stuff like that too.
- 28:09And same kind of thing with the Broncos game, like Errol was
- 28:11saying, if they stopped running the ball once Scanabo got hurt.
- 28:14And again, it just doesn't help and he's trying to kind of out
- 28:17coach himself in a way. And, and eventually it just
- 28:20caught up to them in a lot of senses where I think when you
- 28:23have a bad team, sometimes you have to coach creatively to do
- 28:25it. As soon as you heard Carl Banks
- 28:29and and Dexter Lawrence go back at it with each other, you knew
- 28:32it was over for Devo. You knew it.
- 28:35I'm telling you, any fan that watches the New York Giants and
- 28:39something happens in the locker room and the Giants are not The
- 28:43Jets. I will say that I'm a Jets fan.
- 28:45The Giants are on a team. Besides Odell Beckham and his
- 28:48craziness when he was there with the organization.
- 28:51The Giants are an organization that keeps it within.
- 28:54They don't really go out there. They don't really shed out their
- 28:57information to the the media and to the fans.
- 29:01The Jets are very known to do that.
- 29:03That's because of Woody Johnson and ownership over there.
- 29:06When you heard Dexter Lawrence and call banks go at it with one
- 29:10another. It was all over the tabloids
- 29:13and, and how many people were riding it and, and, and throwing
- 29:17call banks under the bus. And then Dexter Lawrence, maybe
- 29:19he's not the real deal and maybe he's overpaid.
- 29:21As soon as you heard that and all Dabo needed to do is stop
- 29:25it, you know, pretty much go into that locker room or pull,
- 29:28pull to the, you know, pull, call Banks, 'cause he's always
- 29:31at the practices, pull him to the side and say, listen, Carl,
- 29:33let's, let's settle this between you and Jackson and let's, let's
- 29:36quit this. Let's, let's not keep talking
- 29:38about this anymore. And, and it kept getting worse
- 29:41and worse. And Dexter Lawrence was on
- 29:43social media and then Carl Banks kind of tried to cool it down
- 29:47and sees that that that argumental thought on who is
- 29:52what and what is what with Dexter Lawrence this year.
- 29:55As soon as you knew that was going on, it was over.
- 29:58Abel was done. And I knew that it, this was, it
- 30:01was a matter of time. As a matter of fact, Tommy
- 30:04scoops came up to me and I think it was last week, right, Tommy?
- 30:07Was it last week when you said that if the if the Giants lose,
- 30:12it was the Eagles? Yeah, if he said that if the
- 30:15Giants lost against the Eagles, I wouldn't be surprised if Dabel
- 30:19loses his job after the game. That's what he said to me.
- 30:21And I said I think it'll be one or two games after.
- 30:24And then what happened one game after he's fired.
- 30:28So I think John Mara was just waiting for the right time.
- 30:31And then after this loss after in 4 minutes you up double
- 30:35digits and you lose a game against the Chicago Bears.
- 30:39Chicago Bears, they're a good team, but to lose like that
- 30:43against a young quarterback in a in a first year coach when you
- 30:48pretty much were thinking that you know what out of them for
- 30:523/4 and then and lose a game like that the way you did, I
- 30:57mean, absolutely it to me is an absolute dismissal to the head
- 31:02coach after the game. I don't know what's worse
- 31:04though. Errol, the loss, which he's done
- 31:06three other times this season in almost the same fashion, or
- 31:11which I think I've got him fired.
- 31:12And I was listening to a couple of the Giants beat writers talk
- 31:15about it today when I got home. The fact that they were
- 31:18constantly doing these designed runs, not like scramble plays,
- 31:22but designed runs like off tackle runs with Jackson Dart,
- 31:27like knowing he's going to take hits on these plays.
- 31:30What are we doing? Like, well, you're, you're proud
- 31:33that Jackson darts a tough guy. That's great.
- 31:35He's the future of the franchise that you're not going anywhere
- 31:38this season. Maybe don't call Tim Tebow plays
- 31:41for him. Didn't we?
- 31:42What are we doing? Didn't we talk about?
- 31:44That I brought it up a week ago or two weeks ago and I was just
- 31:47like why is he doing this at the end of the game like you're down
- 31:5121 points running quarterback counter Trey to hope he doesn't
- 31:55get hit. He like you think your play
- 31:57calls that great. I called the same thing in high
- 31:59school football. I know what happens on the play,
- 32:01everyone. That's one of the oldest plays
- 32:03in the book. It's from the 80s.
- 32:04Everybody knows it's a good play.
- 32:07But why do that when the game is over with your prized asset?
- 32:12And I think that was the last straw.
- 32:14But you know, yeah, go ahead. Real quick.
- 32:17I'm going to join in real quick on that.
- 32:19I can't put myself on the camera for some reason.
- 32:21But for like you saying though, with Jayden Daniels, that was
- 32:25exactly the same reason why I don't know why anybody had
- 32:28Jayden Daniels in the game. And look at what happened.
- 32:31He had a dislocated arm. He effed up his arm so bad to
- 32:34the point that a lot of us viewers were looking at it.
- 32:36Jackson direction has still been in the game.
- 32:38Like that's, that's, that's that's exactly what we're
- 32:40saying. Jackson not not still been in
- 32:41the game, but Jackson direction has still had those designed
- 32:44runs for him. If I'm being honest, if I'm the
- 32:47Giants, I would sit dark for the rest of the year.
- 32:49There's not going anywhere for the rest of this year.
- 32:51Caleb, I'm sorry, not Caleb Williams, Jameis Winston or
- 32:54Russell Wilson will be a much better fit for the rest of these
- 32:57guys who you have thrown the ball to Wanda Robinson or
- 33:00whatever guys come off the bench or whatnot.
- 33:02Dart shouldn't play another game for the rest of the year.
- 33:05That's my personal going into this the next.
- 33:07Here's the thing, you're a rookie quarterback.
- 33:10You want to play. That's what your your, your goal
- 33:13your whole career was to go and play NFL football.
- 33:16You're not going to say, hey, you know what, I'm not going to
- 33:18play for the rest of the season because I don't want to hurt
- 33:20myself. Jackson Dart is a competitor.
- 33:23And if you're a competitor, you're going to want to go out
- 33:25there. John Jabba, you know this,
- 33:26you're a, you're a professional athlete.
- 33:28You got a chance to prove yourself.
- 33:30Now with Mike Kafka, this is even more to show everybody that
- 33:34you're the future quarterback of this organization to go out
- 33:37there and put up numbers and play as hard as he does.
- 33:40This could this could give Mike Kafka an opportunity to maybe
- 33:43interview for the job. So why would they sit out their
- 33:47young quarterback when he has a chance to flourish?
- 33:50I think it's a bad move for the New York Giants if they sit him
- 33:53out. I could see it both ways.
- 33:56I understand where Scoops is coming from because you want
- 33:59that to be the franchise and that's kind of what they've
- 34:01said. But on the other hand, it's like
- 34:04we don't want to sit because then it first of all, it makes
- 34:06us look soft to our teammates. If, if nothing's wrong, because
- 34:09who knows what's being said in the clubhouse.
- 34:11And hey, you know what, I'm just going to, you know, we're, we
- 34:14lost our guys. You know what, now I'm just,
- 34:16I'm, I'm going to protect myself.
- 34:18I'm, I'm bigger than the team kind of.
- 34:20And I don't know if that's the case.
- 34:21I don't know the guy. We're not in the clubhouse.
- 34:23We don't know. But I'm saying it could be
- 34:24misconstrued like that from that perspective.
- 34:28And it's like, hey, sometimes we've seen when a new coach
- 34:30comes in, it's like, yeah, we got nothing to lose at this
- 34:33point, right? And it it could show like he
- 34:35gets an opportunity. And then for Jackson Dart at the
- 34:38same time, it's like, Hey, I understand that that we've lost
- 34:41a bunch of guys injuries. You know what, I'm going to go
- 34:43play balls to the wall and I'm going to show you that I don't
- 34:45care who's on the field. I'm going to play with
- 34:47everything I got and tried us to put us in the best position even
- 34:50though we're not going anywhere. So I can see both sides of it,
- 34:53but especially as a rookie, like if he's probably a little older
- 34:56with, with what's going on, he probably has a little bit more
- 34:59say in, in kind of what happens. But he there's no way you're
- 35:02going to, I wouldn't say fold on the team, but be like, Hey, I'm
- 35:06just going to take it easy. Because in in reality, if he's
- 35:09going to do that and just play, you know, half ass, that's when
- 35:12you really get hurt. There are two coaches.
- 35:15There are Mike McCarthy would be my #1 the other guy that I would
- 35:20look at and I'm just, this is a guy that I think was successful
- 35:24when he took over for Vegas. He was an ex giant Antonio
- 35:28Pierce. He's been out there all over
- 35:32social media. He's been on different shows
- 35:35speaking about Gable and and and really throwing Gable under the
- 35:38bus saying you don't put your quarterback in harm's way at any
- 35:41point at any part of the game when you're trying to get this
- 35:44guy to feel the rhythm, feel his rhythm and understand what his
- 35:48rhythm is in the NFLI think Antonio Pierce is going to be
- 35:52interviewed because I know John Mayer looks very, I mean, speaks
- 35:56very highly of him and looks at him as a great football mine.
- 36:00But it's it's might. Hold on, do you think that
- 36:02mentality, it's from the fact that he played the game and it's
- 36:05kind of been in the situation where he saw from a player's
- 36:08mentality? I think he was successful as a
- 36:10player and he he was successful for the little bit of time as a
- 36:13head coach the the Vegas Raiders didn't.
- 36:16That first year. Yeah, he was good and I think he
- 36:20was. Good in that first year.
- 36:21He wasn't an ex as an OS guy though.
- 36:23They had no talent though. Well, he didn't have the right
- 36:25offensive coordinator. He had anything.
- 36:27No, he needed. He needs a good offensive
- 36:30coordinator to stand by him. Antonio Pierce is a great
- 36:33leader. He is a great leader of men,
- 36:36young men. I've heard a lot of.
- 36:37Stories about him, I've talked to Michael Strahan, Offset
- 36:40before and even other guys that Speedy, you know Speedy's in
- 36:44love with and Speedy's favorite player of all time.
- 36:47Speedy, why don't you tell everybody Justin talk?
- 36:50I've had conversations with them and he said the leader of that
- 36:53defense was Antonio Pierce and Antonio Pierce was the the voice
- 36:57of reason with that roster. I think Antonio Pierce would be
- 37:01a great get for the Giants if they have the right offensive
- 37:04coordinator to help him out. But I honestly believe, honestly
- 37:09believe, if you're a Giant fan, it's Mike McCarthy.
- 37:12Nobody else. I got a list of three guys that
- 37:14you didn't mention. I have three different guys.
- 37:16I'm not into McCarthy, although I do agree he's a winning coach.
- 37:19But I have I have a young guy, an old guy and the right guy.
- 37:24The young guy who I like is my favorite young coach is Jesse
- 37:27Minter. I'm willing to take a look at
- 37:29that Harbaugh tree. If I'm going to take a look at
- 37:31any tree for young coaches, that's the one I want to take a
- 37:35look at first. But I don't want him.
- 37:37He's the young guy I would take if you're going.
- 37:38You do not want to bring in a defensive coordinator.
- 37:41I don't, I don't agree with that.
- 37:42I think if you have a you. Do not want to bring in a
- 37:44defensive coordinator. You want to bring in an
- 37:46offensive coordinator to help the kid develop.
- 37:48I wouldn't do. That the old guy talk about
- 37:51quarterback developing Happened to watch a great episode of
- 37:54Gruden's QB camp with Jackson Dart and Jon.
- 37:57Gruden wants to get back into coaching and John Gruden, in my
- 38:01opinion, is one of the best moulders of quarterbacks we've
- 38:04ever seen. It's not going to.
- 38:05Happen. I don't know.
- 38:06I don't think it's going to happen.
- 38:07But like I said, this is the old guy that I'd like now.
- 38:10The right guy, I think, is Brian Flores.
- 38:13Ryan Flores has done water. You're wrong about that.
- 38:17There's. Defensive corners.
- 38:18Get jobs all the time. Yeah.
- 38:20All the time. And they're successful, too.
- 38:23They're successful, too. D'amico Ryan's doing a lot with
- 38:26a very little bit of offense over there.
- 38:28He's got to figure out the offense, but it's not his fault.
- 38:30Ryan Flores had a problem in Miami with his quarterback.
- 38:33Well, Ryan Flores had a lot of problems in Miami.
- 38:35You know about? That I'm just saying I'm not
- 38:38bringing. But take a look at what's going
- 38:39on with him right now. He's going to get assistant
- 38:41coach of the year. He's doing things over there.
- 38:44That's that guy, Defensive coordinator of the year, and he
- 38:48was a good head coach. The only reason he's not a head
- 38:49coach is he sued the NFL. So the only reason he's not a
- 38:52head coach and that Miami tried to intentionally lose.
- 38:56We know this. This is documented.
- 38:58That guy is better than everyone else available.
- 39:00He just is. He's a really good.
- 39:02Coach Mike McCarthy is the best one available.
- 39:05He's a lot younger than McCarthy.
- 39:06McCarthy is like 65. It doesn't matter.
- 39:08Mike McCarthy has been in the games.
- 39:11I, I, I do not. The Giants want to win now.
- 39:14And the Giants and John Mayer, they're they're getting up there
- 39:17in age. He wants to see another
- 39:18championship. He believes he has a quarterback
- 39:20to the future. You have to bring in a guy
- 39:23that's going to develop him. You're not bringing in a
- 39:25defensive corner. You're not bringing another
- 39:27rookie. And Jon Grudy, as much as I love
- 39:29him and I think he's a slam dunk, if the Giants go that
- 39:32route, there's no way the New York Giants and John Mara is
- 39:36going to go that route. Because John Gruden, I don't
- 39:39believe in any shape or form is ever going to get a job in the
- 39:43NFL. The way the NFL looks at him
- 39:45with those racist remarks. Unfortunately, the NFL screwed
- 39:48him. So it's not going to be John,
- 39:51It's Mike McCarthy. Guys, I'm telling you, I'm going
- 39:54to write a story. If the Giants are a smart, well,
- 39:58they're not. But if they were smart of an
- 40:00organization, which they haven't been over the last, I would say
- 40:0310 years if they're right. The right way to go is to bring
- 40:08in a veteran guy that knows the West Coast offense.
- 40:11What has been the most successful?
- 40:13Let's talk West Coast. Let's talk.
- 40:15Let's talk West. Coast Hold on.
- 40:17Hold on West Coast offense. Speedy.
- 40:19What has been the best moving offense in the NFL in the last
- 40:2420 years? It's the West Coast.
- 40:26I disagree. It has been.
- 40:28It's a 40 year old offense from the 1980's, the West Coast
- 40:32offense. That's what it is.
- 40:33It was created by Bill Walsh. It was created by Bill Walsh and
- 40:38every disciple, they don't run a West Coast offense.
- 40:42They run a derivative of the West Coast offense and it's not
- 40:46the same. What word It's it's definitely
- 40:49nowhere close to time. And like Jackson darts not a
- 40:52timing route guy. Aaron Rodgers wasn't a timing
- 40:55route guy even when he was doing it 1015 years ago.
- 40:58That's not West Coast because he rolls out of the pocket.
- 41:02There's no rolling out of the pocket in the West Coast
- 41:04offense. It's on timing 123 throw, 12345
- 41:09throw. So stop, stop this.
- 41:11But that's a scramble when the play breaks down or a design
- 41:15draw all the. Time he did it all the.
- 41:18Time but you're saying that you want Jackson Dart to learn how
- 41:22to be like 123 go. I'm not telling.
- 41:24You, but that's West Coast. That's what that means when you
- 41:26say West Coast. It's a timing route.
- 41:29I agree. With you, I disagree with you.
- 41:31But that's like the definition. But bringing your you want to
- 41:33bring in a defensive coordinator.
- 41:35That doesn't work. It doesn't.
- 41:36Help. I think West Coast is simple.
- 41:38I I think that's a simple offense.
- 41:40I'll tell you if you're going to do that.
- 41:41I think he needs to be different.
- 41:43Tell me. Tell me the last defensive
- 41:45coordinator that took over over an NFL job for the first time
- 41:49that's developed a quarterback? Have you looked at CJ Stroud?
- 41:52Yeah. He's great, he's been.
- 41:55Great. He's really good.
- 41:56He has. Nothing there.
- 41:58He's been horrible. You think that he's bad?
- 42:00You think CJ Stroud is? Horrible.
- 42:02I wouldn't say he's been horrible.
- 42:04He was an. Amazing rookie.
- 42:06They have the worst offense, one of the worst offensive lines.
- 42:10His third year has been. Crap.
- 42:12They're they might make the playoffs, I don't think.
- 42:14I don't sell them short. They're on the they've been
- 42:16really good recently. And that Coach D'amico, Ryan's
- 42:20defensive coordinator, is excellent.
- 42:23Let me tell you something, if that's excellent, if that's what
- 42:26you're. Trying to I would take D'amico
- 42:27Ryan's today, Tomorrow and every day and twice on Sundays.
- 42:31Well, guess what? There's only one coach that I
- 42:33can tell you right now that is a defensive mind that's developed,
- 42:38a quarterback in this NFL that's been successful, and that's the
- 42:42Buffalo Bills. That is it.
- 42:44That is it. So you're going to come at me
- 42:47and you're going to tell me. I mean, Belichick developed
- 42:50Brady. That's that's a long time ago,
- 42:53dude. That's 25 years ago.
- 42:55That's a long. That's a long time ago.
- 42:58It might be longer than. 25I it's it's, it's been over. 25,
- 43:01it's 25, yeah. But here's the facts.
- 43:04And I don't care what their numbers are.
- 43:05My, my thought here is you bring in a veteran guy that's done it
- 43:09and has won in the same division and he knows the Cowboys, he
- 43:12knows the Eagles and he knows the Commanders and he knows the
- 43:16NFC North, which is the best at really the best division in
- 43:20football. So I'm going that route.
- 43:23And I don't care how old he is. He was, he's missed one season.
- 43:27His offense, absolutely. Works, absolutely.
- 43:30Works still, and he can make Jackson Dart a successful
- 43:34quarterback in the NFL. That's it for a show, ladies and
- 43:37gentlemen. The good stir shows up as we we
- 43:40love him. We're finally, finally got him
- 43:42back. I know he's been busy.
- 43:43I mean, how how old's that white T that?
- 43:45Thing looks haggard. It's my freaking sleep.
- 43:49That's what I wear in bed. Dude, that's hug.
- 43:54Hey, son. It's a Nike yoga, Nike yoga.
- 43:58So it's like super stretchy. He bought that from Adam Levine.
- 44:04From who, judge? Adam Levine, the singer, that's
- 44:07what Those are the kind of shirts he wears, but they're
- 44:10usually we're about. To throw in a jacket because
- 44:11it's frigid down here. He tastes himself.
- 44:14Wait, what's the temperature over there?
- 44:16Goody. 75 probably to him. It.
- 44:20Is it's 70. 5 Right now it's 3045.
- 44:26Feels like 3034. So you're getting it too We're
- 44:30it's supposed to be? That's not that cold.
- 44:31Girl yes, we just played a like a three hour Little League game
- 44:35in this with like with like 30 knot winds.
- 44:38So I'm. Supposed to get a little bit of
- 44:40wintry mix up here in the mountains.
- 44:42Arrow. 30 knot winds getting still, not that bad, that's the
- 44:45thing. I'll tell you what, I'll send
- 44:47you a nice beautiful. Coat, do you want me to help you

- 45:03Dude, I will be outside. I will be outside with a T-shirt
- 45:07and I'll be wearing shorts, that stuff.
- 45:10That's crazy shorts. And that doesn't bother me.
- 45:12That don't bother me that way they don't bother me.
- 45:14It really don't. It's freezing.
- 45:15That's not freezing. It's not freezing, but it's not
- 45:18shorts in a way. I feel like Errol wishes he
- 45:21could live in like Canada so he could just put on ice.
