  Speaker 1: at one time, he said, was nowhere near the level

  Speaker 1: felt to me like, is this a situation that we

  Speaker 1: want to find ourselves in where we have someone going

  Speaker 1: into the WrestleMania main event and we can't even count

  Speaker 1: on the fact that we're going to have him on

  Speaker 1: television in the lead up to WrestleMania. You look back

  Speaker 1: much as you would like, especially in the aftermath of

  Speaker 1: the heel turn, and it can really have a sour

  Speaker 1: effect on the build up and on the promotion of WrestleMania.

  Speaker 1: I don't know what the future looks like over these

  Speaker 1: next couple of months with Roman Reigns. I don't expect

  Speaker 1: him on TV every week, but how often are we

  Speaker 1: going to have him on the show between now in

  Speaker 1: the middle of April. I don't know, that's my fear.

  Speaker 1: Tonight was a home run. But what are the next

  Speaker 1: two months looked like? Right? That remains to be seen.

  Speaker 1: This is not the first time that Roman reigns and

  Speaker 1: see them Punk are going to find themselves in the

  Speaker 1: ring together of WrestleMania. It was just last year they

  Speaker 1: were in the Night one main event together, but there

  Speaker 1: was Seth Rollins who was also thrown in there, and

  Speaker 1: Seth Rollins was the one who actually walked away the
• 3:37
  Speaker 1: winner in that match. So Punk and Roman, I mean,

  Speaker 1: forget their pass from many years ago in the Shield days.

  Speaker 1: Neither man can claim to have a real victory over

  Speaker 1: the other here. So at least this year it does

  Speaker 1: feel fresh because one on one, it's just a totally

  Speaker 1: different dynamic. The focus can be on the two of them.

  Speaker 1: The focus last year was on Haman. Where does his

  Speaker 1: allegiance lie? Right? Everyone was vying for the heart of

  Speaker 1: Paul Hayman. That was the story going into WrestleMania this year.

  Speaker 1: The story this year has nothing to do with Paul Haman.

  Speaker 1: The story is very much about the two men who
• 4:15
  Speaker 1: are wrestling for the title and the history that the

  Speaker 1: two of them have together, and that was at the

  Speaker 1: heart of the promo that closed Monday Night Robed Tonight.

  Speaker 1: It was, in my opinion, the greatest promo of Roman
• 4:25
  Speaker 1: Reign's career, and it just so happened that he was
• 4:28
  Speaker 1: in the ring with somebody who is still very much
• 4:31
  Speaker 1: one of the best promos in all of wrestling. And
• 4:33
  Speaker 1: you could talk about Punk's and ring work, and he's
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: older and he's slower, and all of that is true,
• 4:38
  Speaker 1: but Punk, you know, one thing that still works is
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: the guy's mouth when he's got a microphone in the ring. Right.

  Speaker 1: He's still one of the best promos in wrestling. So
• 4:45
  Speaker 1: when you're in there with him, you need to be
• 4:47
  Speaker 1: on your a game. And we've seen some great promo
• 4:49
  Speaker 1: stuff from Punk, we Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins, but
• 4:53
  Speaker 1: we just haven't heard a lot from Roman Reigns. He
• 4:55
  Speaker 1: needed to be in the ring with someone like Cmpunk
• 4:58
  Speaker 1: to help up his game, to have somebody to play
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: off of, and there's a lot of history there for
• 5:03
  Speaker 1: the two of them to play off of. And we
• 5:04
  Speaker 1: heard that and saw that in the closing segment here
• 5:08
  Speaker 1: and in one promo here we heard them talk about
• 5:12
  Speaker 1: their history, going back to the Shield days, and Punk
• 5:16
  Speaker 1: talking about how I brought you in here when you
• 5:18
  Speaker 1: were part of the Shield. I love going back in
• 5:21
  Speaker 1: time and talking about how all of this came together,
• 5:26
  Speaker 1: tying all of this history together. And then you got
• 5:29
  Speaker 1: Roman Reigns turning around and putting it back on him
• 5:31
  Speaker 1: and saying, you leaving ten, eleven, twelve years ago, whatever
• 5:34
  Speaker 1: it was, I guess twelve years ago now at this point,
• 5:39
  Speaker 1: that made my life so much harder than it needed
• 5:42
  Speaker 1: to be. He actually made life very hard for a
• 5:46
  Speaker 1: lot of people who had to go out there a
• 5:47
  Speaker 1: week after a week and contend with chance of CM
• 5:50
  Speaker 1: Punk during their promos and during their matches for many years.

  Speaker 1: And Roman was the poster child of that, because Roman
• 5:56
  Speaker 1: was the chosen one, and Roman was the one who
• 5:58
  Speaker 1: was being shoved down people's throat votes, and there was
• 6:01
  Speaker 1: an all out rebellion by a certain segment of the
• 6:03
  Speaker 1: audience who just didn't want it. They rejected it, and
• 6:07
  Speaker 1: they rejected it in part because he wasn't CM Punk,
• 6:09
  Speaker 1: because he wasn't Daniel Brian. Right. We can go back
• 6:11
  Speaker 1: in the history, you know, in the history Bank and
• 6:14
  Speaker 1: talk all about that. So I like the fact that
• 6:16
  Speaker 1: they were drawing off a lot of their history here
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: and the intensity that we saw, in particular from Roman Reigns,
• 6:23
  Speaker 1: because Punk was doing his thing out there when things
• 6:25
  Speaker 1: got started, but it was when Roman had the opportunity
• 6:29
  Speaker 1: to respond and throw it right back in his face.
• 6:33
  Speaker 1: You could see where it's sort of built, it built,

  Speaker 1: until finally he was able to just go all out
• 6:39
  Speaker 1: at Punk. And Punk did fine. I mean, Punk was

  Speaker 1: great here, but the real highlight of this segment was
• 6:45
  Speaker 1: Roman Reigns, who made it very clear I don't like you.
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: I hate you, and you talk about, you know, following
• 6:53
  Speaker 1: in my footsteps. He's talking about the fact that you know,
• 6:57
  Speaker 1: you come back after all these years and you my
• 7:00
  Speaker 1: wise men, and you try to brainwash my family and
• 7:03
  Speaker 1: you almost had me brainwashed. And there's just an intensity
• 7:08
  Speaker 1: in his voice that we have not seen in a
• 7:11
  Speaker 1: very long time, where he was getting viscerally angry. And
• 7:15
  Speaker 1: they worked the Pat McAfee interview the other day into
• 7:18
  Speaker 1: the promo. Now, I said, when I talked about Roman's
• 7:21
  Speaker 1: comments the other day from that interview, I said, you know,
• 7:24
  Speaker 1: sounded like he was mostly you know, in character but
• 7:27
  Speaker 1: there were still some things that he said in that
• 7:29
  Speaker 1: promo that I think were valid in terms of WWE creative.

  Speaker 1: There was definitely some truth laced into that little promo
• 7:37
  Speaker 1: that he cut there, but clearly it was designed as
• 7:40
  Speaker 1: storylined and something that they were going to bring up
• 7:42
  Speaker 1: here on this show, especially when Punk brought up the
• 7:45
  Speaker 1: fact that Roman was talking about, you know, you talk
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: about the roster needs to step up, you take your
• 7:49
  Speaker 1: quarterly vacations. I'm being very magnanimous, I'm stepping away. I'm
• 7:53
  Speaker 1: giving people a chance to step up, and that all
• 7:56
  Speaker 1: came into play in the promo here tonight. Again, it's
• 8:00
  Speaker 1: no surprise that Roman would go out there and be
• 8:02
  Speaker 1: able to cut the best promo that I have ever
• 8:04
  Speaker 1: heard him cut when he was face to face with Cempunk,
• 8:08
  Speaker 1: who tends to bring the best that of people when
• 8:11
  Speaker 1: they are going at it on the microphone, and we
• 8:13
  Speaker 1: saw that in the feud we Drew McIntyre. I mean,
• 8:15
  Speaker 1: it was the perfect foil. That's a big part of
• 8:18
  Speaker 1: what made that whole feud so great that in the
• 8:20
  Speaker 1: social media stuff that Drew was doing right, I mean,
• 8:22
  Speaker 1: it was just on point. But it's been a while
• 8:25
  Speaker 1: since Punk has really had someone like this, someone great
• 8:29
  Speaker 1: like this to spar with. I would love to have
• 8:31
  Speaker 1: more of this on the road to WrestleMania. I would
• 8:35
  Speaker 1: love to have at least a couple more segments like
• 8:37
  Speaker 1: this between now in mid April, and I really hope
• 8:40
  Speaker 1: that this is not the best that we're going to
• 8:41
  Speaker 1: get before we get to Las Vegas. And if we

  Speaker 1: can get more of this sort of thing, and if
• 8:46
  Speaker 1: we can get more compelling segments like this, then you

  Speaker 1: know what, it'll be worth it. But it's still a

  Speaker 1: fear of mine that we don't know how much of

  Speaker 1: Roman reigns we are going to see. Now there's another

  Speaker 1: question here that comes along with this. Now that we

  Speaker 1: know what the wrestle A main event is going to be,

  Speaker 1: there are people who will look at last year and go, well,

  Speaker 1: you know, see, I'm punk got the headline his first WrestleMania,

  Speaker 1: but that's not really the WrestleMania Maine event. It's Night

  Speaker 1: one and that doesn't count. Now, I think that's bullshit,

  Speaker 1: but there are a lot of people who feel that way.

  Speaker 1: I don't think you're gonna need to worry about that

  Speaker 1: this year, because not yet knowing what the Drew McIntyre

  Speaker 1: match is going to be for the other belt. Seem

  Speaker 1: pretty clear to me watching this show here tonight what
• 9:26
  Speaker 1: the nighte two main event of WrestleMania is going to be.

  Speaker 1: I don't think that there is a match they can

  Speaker 1: do on the SmackDown side that is going to be

  Speaker 1: able to in terms of the star power that they

  Speaker 1: have in this match, And then you watch this promo here,

  Speaker 1: of Cody and Drew, Cody and Drew and Jacob, Cody

  Speaker 1: Andrew and Drew and Jacob and Randy. Maybe right it's

  Speaker 1: going to be some combination of that. God forbid, it's

  Speaker 1: just another singles match between Cody and Drew because we've

  Speaker 1: had enough of those. This right here is your Night

  Speaker 1: two WrestleMania Maine event. So for the first time, I

  Speaker 1: epect to see the World Heavyweight Championship truly headlining of

  Speaker 1: WrestleMania because that is typically the spot that Roman Reigns

  Speaker 1: is in. It wasn't last year, but typically that is

  Speaker 1: the spot you would expect to find him in any way,

  Speaker 1: So that is what I expect the Night two match

  Speaker 1: to be this year. But you know, again, Roman telling

  Speaker 1: Oshae Jackson Junior on his podcast last year that if

  Speaker 1: you want to make the world title mean something, you

  Speaker 1: have me fight for it. You know, if Roman Reigns

  Speaker 1: was to go in there and win the World Heavyweight Championship,

  Speaker 1: which there's certainly a possibility that it could happen, what

  Speaker 1: does that look like if Roman actually goes in there

  Speaker 1: see the greatness that is there if you can just

  Speaker 1: find the right story to pull it out. It's this

  Speaker 1: sort of thing that these television shows are missing. Now,

  Speaker 1: you can't do a promo like this every single week,

  Speaker 1: but this is the sort of thing that this show

  Speaker 1: is lacking. And that's one of my biggest gripes about

  Speaker 1: some of these big names that come in and they're

  Speaker 1: not you know, they're there for two weeks and they

  Speaker 1: disappear for two months. It just drags the shows down.

  Speaker 1: You know, there's a reason why they were in the

  Speaker 1: spot they're in, but when they're not on the show,

  Speaker 1: but the show is still kind of built around them
• 11:49
  Speaker 1: and we're watching week to week. I mean, when was

  Speaker 1: the last time we had a promo segment like this,

  Speaker 1: Probably going back to the Drew MacIntyre cmpunk stuff and
• 11:57
  Speaker 1: that was two years ago at this point. Maybe some

  Speaker 1: of the John Cena stuff last year, but it's few
• 12:04
  Speaker 1: and far between. So that was another takeaway. When I

  Speaker 1: was done watching this, I'm like, man, this right here

  Speaker 1: is the sort of thing that Raw desperately needs more of.

  Speaker 1: Because I'm watching this promo and as great as it is,

  Speaker 1: you got the impression watching it, and it's just they

  Speaker 1: were just very good at what they did, but you

  Speaker 1: got the impression watching it, like, man, you know, this

  Speaker 1: guy really doesn't like this guy. You know, it comes

  Speaker 1: off as like this genuine hate between them, and it

  Speaker 1: feels like there's some real tension there. That's what this

  Speaker 1: show is lacking. This show is lacking that feeling of

  Speaker 1: real tension between the different people on the show. And

  Speaker 1: we got that in the closing segment outshined everything else

  Speaker 1: so that we had on this television show. Now, we

  Speaker 1: had a Women's World Championship street fight. They were in Philadelphia,

  Speaker 1: and the Philadelphia fans could not be bothered to give
• 12:55
  Speaker 1: a single solitary shit about most of that match or
• 12:58
  Speaker 1: really a lot of different things on the show, and
• 13:02
  Speaker 1: it was not a great match. They had a WWE
• 13:04
  Speaker 1: style hardcore plunder match. I feel like if you've seen one,

  Speaker 1: you've seen them all. There were certain moments in the

  Speaker 1: match that did not exactly go according to plan. Stephanie

  Speaker 1: is still the World Champion Live Morgan laid her out.

  Speaker 1: We had that parting shot of her holding up the
• 13:20
  Speaker 1: world title. She's going to SmackDown on Friday Night to
• 13:25
  Speaker 1: survey the WWE champion in Jade Cargil. But again, it

  Speaker 1: seems pretty clear where things are going to land. As
• 13:32
  Speaker 1: far as the women's world title matcher WrestleMania is concerned.

  Speaker 1: How Raquel fits into that after losing tonight, that's another thing.

  Speaker 1: We'll have to see how that plays out. The show

  Speaker 1: started off in what I thought was a great way.

  Speaker 1: his decision on where he's going to land. The story

  Speaker 1: is that both general managers are just tripping over themselves

  Speaker 1: trying to sign him as they should. What they did
