- speaker-0: Mac and the Rev unveil the new vision for the podcast and website and make the case that the most meaningful conversations usually begin where certainty ends. If you've ever felt too curious for your circle, too committed for your critics, or tired speaker-1: Putain speaker-0: of tidy answers, this episode is your invitation to step into a different kind of conversation. Welcome to the podcast! Faith and friction. Revan I'm back. speaker-1: With I and Rev and he the Mac and the Rev, where speaker-0: I'm sorry. speaker-1: two or more are gathered in the name of questions. Something good's gonna happen. speaker-0: Would she be roasting me right now for all that? But anyway what speaker-1: There will be no English classes here today. speaker-0: God, no, not me. That's for sure. Thank goodness that's bell check. I never could handle that. Okay. So welcome, Rev. Good to see you today, man. I agree. I agree. And we're gonna have a really exciting episode this time th this tonight so that we can talk about kinda some things. We we mentioned it last week. We we we sort of put the bug in everybody's ear. speaker-1: Maybe shifting into a higher gear. I I A little higher octane perhaps a little bit more fearless. speaker-0: You know, I ew it's time. I think we decided. It's just time. We've had a great speaker-1: I just hope I haven't been dead weight in y in that journey. speaker-0: No, no way, man. No way. But you know, we're into our the forties w with our episodes and I think it just got, you know, to the point where we said, Okay, that's good. We've hopefully brought value, but you know, it's time to sort of shift a bit, weave what we've been talking about into just a little bit different setup and and and format. What do you think? I mean, I think we've been talking about this. I'm pretty excited. speaker-1: You know, I I it's in the season of the World Series is coming up and every team when they get close to the end of to that game has to up their game. They don't win in the playoffs. So maybe we're we needed to s ease into it, got to first, second, third base. Now we're gonna slide into third base and go, let's bring it on. speaker-0: I'm I'm excited about it. So what we're gonna do today, everybody, certainly if you're you're watching on the video, you're gonna see it. but we're gonna, you know, we will narrate it as we go along. But we're gonna go through our new website and some of the wording on the website that you can begin to get an idea of where we're going. And yeah, that's right. It's the video people can see right behind us. and We like to for you guys out there, the listeners, to be more involved in two ways. This is where we're going with this. Number one, the theme that we're really gonna start to move into is storytelling. And what we mean by that is guests. We want to have guests come and tell their story, and not just any story, right? We're gonna go through our website wording, but it it centers around. When someone's faith has really cost them, has really you know, been a challenge, even sometimes even made them suffer, or you know, cause them to suffer. And there's lots of different degrees of suffering. I get that. But those are great stories. speaker-1: Stories are worth a thousand theories. You know, the reality is when we talk to each other and say, here's where I was, here's where I am, here's how what I had to go through to get there. Right. And then you can do it too. That that excites me. Yes. And so it's taking this podcast, the ideas that we share and the questions and the challenges, and its practical application. We're gonna share more of our story and invite people into that conversation because people are looking for those stories right now. I speaker-0: I think it it's immense and it's always helped me when I don't care if it's just like you and I right here, one on one and we chat with each other, or it might be through a book or a movie, whatever, somebody's telling their story that you go, my gosh, that's me. speaker-1: Testify, testify, testify to the the power that you have implemented and moved through and grown. speaker-0: And we can all help each other. I know this. I've seen it. It's happened in my life. I know it's happened. speaker-1: I am so much greater as a human being on the inside and the outside because somebody told me their story and didn't didn't play small with that hero's journey. speaker-0: That yeah that the that's quite yes. I love it. The Joseph Campbell thing we you know that we all have a hero's journey. And heroes speaker-1: are looking for each other right now. So we I want to know who the heroes out there sit at this table. Yes. Move us. Empower us. speaker-0: That just excites me, man. I can't wait. And we want to invite all of you out there that if you know of people, maybe you have a story like that that we can talk about side obviously sidebar and just make sure there's a good fit. speaker-1: Just just go on the website and share that story. Right. When the time comes. I want the it in writing, I want it verbally, however it takes. Yes. We're finding each other's heroes are finding each other. Yeah. Look out because it's the people who are not willing to play small anymore. speaker-0: We are looking for we're looking for you. We're looking for you. We're looking for people that you know like that. And again, it's we versus me. And we are way stronger. So what we're gonna do in this episode is we're gonna spend a lot of time again if you're watching us on the video. And if you've never watched us on the video, you might you might want to do it for this episode anyway. It'll be out on on on YouTube. All right. So what we're gonna do is we are going to just go through our new Just to f you know the home page and vlog page of our new format. We're gonna talk about some of the wording, some of the things that are important to us as we move forward, words that we want to take an identity over, you know, and a persona. and I think it'd be great for us and hopefully as you're listening out there, you can begin to get an idea of what you're gonna start to hear that may be a little different. again, we're gonna weave everything we've been talking about through the conversations. Right. speaker-1: It's it's the same idea behind the podcast. It's just welcome to third base as opposed to first base. speaker-0: All right. So I'm gonna call our website up here and we'll just start going through it a little bit, man. We'll just kind of we'll kind of shift. speaker-1: That's why I'm really excited about this website as he's pulling it up. Yeah. Because it really speaks to the faith and friction that we're wanting to create at at a higher level, at a greater level. And I just I commend you for the artistry. I commend you for the work and the vision. it's really important. speaker-0: Yeah, I think we're recent. So speaker-1: There we go. speaker-0: if you're again if you're watching the if you're watching on the video, this is our new website and it is live at our same old URL, faith friction dot com. Okay. Right. And it you know, it's still a little bit of a work in progress, but this home speaker-1: So am I. speaker-0: It probably will always be, no doubt about that. But as you can see right now, the home page, which is you know, directing you to all the different things that we're gonna be talking about, and then you've got a link here when you come, but then there's the link to the podcast. those two things, all of our previous episodes are We're gonna have them all right here. The things that will be added to this, we're gonna just talk about it right up front. Well well, I'll tell you what, let's just wait. We'll get to that. We don't have the links live yet to some of this stuff, but know that it's coming. All right. So speaker-1: Well, I I just love out the out of the gate, we're gonna more proudly own hard questions about faith and culture. Not easy ones, not softballs, stuff that's gonna make you uncomfortable. Make your knees knock a little bit, make your heart race a little bit. That's a good place to be. That's indication that something good's about to happen. And we're gonna ask it out loud. You know, I'll be honest, I tend to try to softball things sometimes, and it's like, you know what? And you d you don't make the impact that you can make. And I want this podcast and our relationship and the guests on here to make a greater impact on the world right now. speaker-0: Change agents, without a doubt. All right. This is we need this so desperately right now. And and and again, not just right now. That's the way the world changes. That's the way positive things. speaker-1: Always needed those. That's right. Those are the people that change the world. Ex I wanna be among their ranks. speaker-0: One little bit at a time. So hard questions, as Rev has said, asked out loud, with hey, we're gonna c we're gonna own it. We're Mavericks, right? We've always been Mavericks. This is we're thinking outside. speaker-1: I haven't always been in Maverick. I have grown into it. speaker-0: We're Mavericks now though, all right. So gang. but you know, we're gonna be always outside the box a bit. And that's the we love it. That's the part of our conversation. That that's who we are and that's what we want. speaker-1: I learn more when I'm outside that speaker-0: Yes, yes. So we're Mavericks who refuse the easy answers. But just we're just we wanna peel the onion back and here's h one way that you do this. We're gonna do it. We're gonna make it somebody's gonna make a statement. speaker-1: One of the things I love about this idea is that we're sacrificing certainty. I did a message on Sunday that shallow religion and shallow politics has created a great deal of certainty. Right. I'm gonna throw certainty to the wind. Yes, is exactly. But I'm comfortable, don't take me out of there. And it's like I'm not really certain about anything right now. And that's where the magic and mystery happens. Ask any mystic. speaker-0: There y it's the what you said, you know, the cloud of unknowing. I love that book. Yeah. Of course I've read it. speaker-1: You probably mentioned it first. speaker-0: So, you know, we don't want the easy answers. It's like, how you doing today, Rev? speaker-1: Fine. Okay. speaker-0: No. That's what we're gonna do in those scenarios with our guests, when we write, when we're out on the blog, when we're out in community, when it's right, when it's appropriate, when a statement's made. The good thing to follow that up with is gonna be speaker-1: Exactly. Fine. It's not don't put a period there. Why? Fine. And I'm struggling. Let's get honest. I'm struggling with my religion, my belief system, my politics. I'm struggling with my life. Hey, great. There's a great laboratory for something to break open. speaker-0: And it's not confrontational. No. It's inspirational and it's of a help to say, wow. Or it can also be, well, you know what? I'm gonna encourage you to maybe think a little differently about that. Right? How about if you you know, I've come from this place and maybe that might that kind of interaction speaker-1: From each other, we help each other, we teach each other. In any given moment you're the teacher or the student. Right. It doesn't it doesn't speaker-0: Exactly. speaker-1: matter. It's an open field of exploration. And that's where true evolution, spiritually and mentally and emotionally exists. speaker-0: i it's transformational, without a doubt. So just a few people that I've talked to already about this new format, they're excited. I mean, they to be honest, they want to be in a podcast, you know, that kind of thing, right? and we have a vetting process. We need to. I mean we need to, you know, we're looking for a certain kind of individual with a story that fits a certain can doesn't mean anybody else's story isn't valid. speaker-1: I'm looking to spend more time with people who can be brutally honest with themselves, where we can be honest with each other with knowing that we're we're friend, we're friends, we're on the same page, we're not adversaries, we're not enemies. We don't have to agree, but we're going to sit in the laboratory of a possibility here that may challenge what I have believed my whole life. And that's okay. It's welcomed. If you can't welcome that, you're not going to probably be a guest on our podcast. But that's okay. You wouldn't be our audience. Love love to you anyway. But the reality, love takes many forms. And sometimes it's tough love and being tough with ourselves. speaker-0: Well, and we're looking for some tough stories. We're looking for some people that have been through and I've already talked to some people when I've told them, you know, and we're gonna get to the wording here in a second, but after they've evaluated themselves or whatever journey they've been through, they had to admit to me, that really isn't my journey. You know, I really haven't been through that kind of turmoil or struggle or whatever. And and and again, beautiful fine, that's your story, but That's what we're looking for. We're looking for some people, and I already have tons of stories about those kinds of folks. We just got to get them on the podcast, okay? All right. So here's we're moving down our our home page here now. And in bold, we're gonna say belief tested in public. That was one of the things that you know you went right to when we were kind of going through this a little bit. speaker-1: I love that idea. I'm gonna live out loud publicly. Here I am. I'm not gonna try and hide my my belief. I'm not gonna try to apologize for my belief. And I'm also not gonna be so grounded to my belief that I'm not open to a different view of it. speaker-0: We're living it out together in public. Yeah. A as people feel comfortable. I mean again, you we don't necessarily, you know, dump our whole laundry basket out here, right? All the baggage. So it's in degrees of, but we want it to be able to tell a story that is a struggle. I mean, that's the main thing. And we'll we'll talk about that. So belief tested in public. speaker-1: Well, and here's the reality. All of us have struggled. Everybody on the planet has a struggle. speaker-0: Struggle story. No, we I love that we just coined that struggle story. This speaker-1: And everybody has an overcoming story too. speaker-0: is where we want to go with this. We want to hear the overcoming, or not. You were just saying, I haven't overcome it yet. Here I am. Right. Exactly. speaker-1: Great and let's just live it out loud. speaker-0: So Faith in Friction is a podcast and a blog. So there's another new little thing. We will be having a blog that's basically. tiered where it will be certain conversations and that you can come up you can you you can j enter into different kinds of conversations that we'll have available out there speaker-1: And bring your tough questions, your tough answers in love. Bring your toughness and love. Otherwise you'll be set down on that podcast because that is foundational to what we do. It's not challenge for the challenge sake. No. It is challenge for the opportunity for all of us to grow. Absolutely. speaker-0: Absolutely. So there's where we are. For people who never learned what? To stop asking. In other words, there's a certainty. It isn't there, right? Absolute certainty. Figure out that one anyway. No. speaker-1: Don't question. Because you will be ostracized, shut down and put down. speaker-0: Keep, what's your next? I had this as part of the talk that I gave on the retreat. What's the next greatest question that you need to ask? speaker-1: I like that. speaker-0: Right? Always in front of you. speaker-1: And you may not have an immediate answer, but this podcast is this one venue of going, ask it, find it, seek it out. speaker-0: Yeah, ponder it. Think about it. Right? So there we are. All right. What do you think? We are mavericks and mystics. That's us. We just are. We're looking for lookers just like that. The ones working at the edge of belief and culture. We talk about the inside edge of the outside. speaker-1: But I love this next line. Yeah. Where the tidy answers run out. You know, inevitably if we're on any kind of a growing path, we're gonna come to the edge of everything that brought us to that moment. That's where the juice is. That's where I believe God exists. And I tidy answers don't fit anymore. Nope. They were perfect tools to get me to here, but now I have to set them down. No. speaker-0: Yeah, exactly you gotta have the Ug, man. If you don't have the Ug, okay? Yep. sometimes we hold faith tightly and we will. All right? Well, speaker-1: Sometimes I do, I'll be honest. speaker-0: I mean sometimes in our belief systems our guests will, our conversations, and that's okay. speaker-1: If we can talk about what are the consequences of that. We don't do anything in this planet that does not have a payoff. So sometimes you're holding it very tightly and there's a payoff. Yep. Great. Until there isn't a payoff anymore. speaker-0: Then you gotta open I did a meme one time that said, careful how tightly you hold things because it's really easy to go from white knuckles to bloody ones. Right. So we'll hold some of them tight, some at arm's length. speaker-1: But we're gonna own it. I'm holding this one tight. I'm not ready to give this one up. Great. You have the right to do that. And you will be encouraged and respected for doing. speaker-0: Right. And we're also though gonna plant some inspiration that says, When you're ready, here we go. Think about this. I've been through it. We had a guest two weeks ago that been through it. Go listen to the episode, whatever. All right. So it's depends on where you are. Wherever you're at. We're hoping we can meet the maverick in you. You know, it wherever it is you are, the mystic. speaker-1: Honest and raw. Past, present, and future. No, there's nothing pretty. speaker-0: Well, it's not tidy. Regardless, we take the questions seriously. It's not going to be okay. Thanks for that. Let's move on. Yeah, exactly. How you doing today? speaker-1: Thanks for sharing. Nothing is up in the field of our minds, our life, or our experience unless it has value. And if you brush it aside as an unimportant there are no unimportant questions. That's right. There are just questions either spoken out loud or shut down. I wanna welcome them and go it it it's worthy of playing with it. speaker-0: Absolutely so. And nothing here is designed to like settle if there is an argument. That's not the point. We're not gonna give advice. We're not gonna let you lay on the couch and go, All right, hang on a minute. We'll kinda you know, we're gonna moderate here, we're gonna kinda figure out where but no speaker-1: Let's go back to a childhood and figure out why you have a problem. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: The reality is if this podcast is all about driving to your right and wrong, forget it. Don't waste your time. It's about exploration without the need for right or wrong, a field of possibility. speaker-0: Love it, man. There it is. I love yes. Yes. speaker-1: That's a little roomy there in there. Out beyond the the ideas of right and wrong is is the field of possibility. Meet me. speaker-0: Right. And and again, it might go as far as a quote argument or a debate. That's okay. If it rises to that level, that's okay. With respect and with love. All speaker-1: Again, respect and love are present. speaker-0: right. But it's designed, this conversation is designed to make the discussion worth having and to gather the people willing to have it. speaker-1: That's that's basically it, you know. And it's like, let's try and build an audience. I want an audience of people who are willing. If you're if you're not willing, that's okay. Bless you, love you. I want the people who are willing to just dig in dig in on the episode, on the blog. You know, whenever we're communicating faith and friction, I want the people who are who are not afraid, not apologizing for the rawness of their life experience. speaker-0: There it is. And if you're not there, as if you're listening, if you're not there, guess what? Here's our encouragement. Go to the blog and just read and watch and see the speaker-1: Gather strength from those who are at that place. speaker-0: know, it doesn't require you to have to be jump in, put your big boy or girl panties on and just enter the fray. It's okay. Just listen. Because we've found exposure all across the spectrum is how things also change. Whether it's this podcast, whether it's a blog, whether it's a podcast. speaker-1: Just don't turn it off. Yeah. Because it's not you, you're not right. I respect that. You knowing your boundaries and your borders come to the edge of come to the edge of them. I will encourage that. But you're not gonna be judged if you're not ready to put more than just the toe in the water. speaker-0: Know. All right. So now we've got the podcast. We're on the on the home page still. So these are some links that you're going to be able to start clicking to. Now, here we go. The podcast. Conversations with people who think against the grain. That's what we've been saying all along already, right? No shouting. Just real stories from real people. We just want the the public reality and the raw. Right? speaker-1: be real clear though it's not shouting and yelling but passion sometimes elevates the volume a little bit. Absolutely. I want that. I love that. I I tend to do It's okay. Passion delivered with a desire that's deeper than being right. speaker-0: Yes, yes. And so these are the kinds of conversations for the disenfranchised, for the people who have had to go through and listen to other stories of people being marginalized, you're struggling with their faith. You know, it cost them something. It's that when a lot of people are there right now, man. speaker-1: And it's not the people that are camping out and I was a victim. If the story ends as a victim, it's probably not gonna last long on this podcast. Right, that's right. Victimhood to victorhood. It's how did you become a victor having gone through that? speaker-0: And wow. There's the some encouragement we're gonna give, and it may rub some people a little bit the wrong way, but that's how you grow. We will not let you continue to be a victim. It's not healthy for you. We're gonna offer suggestions and encouragement and sometimes a little bit of admonishment. speaker-1: Well and here's the reality. I expect it in return. Don't speaker-0: Let me play. speaker-1: small with my spirituality with my life. I love speaker-0: Love that man, absolutely. So there we are, the blog the podcast. Then we also are gonna have a blog like we've been talking about. It's in the works, written reflections between episodes, you know, that we'll put out speaker-1: But just for the record, Mac is a very good writer and he has some very thought provoking things out. speaker-0: Well, thank you. I love to do it. So we're gonna it's gonna be shorter obviously than than an episode, shorter than any kind of show notes or you know, that whole thing. A little bit slower because you can ponder and chew on it a little bit, and maybe often a little more honest about the doubt underneath. You can express it in just a different way. And I'm we know we're gonna love to have speaker-1: Well, and I think that's important to recognize. I have a lot of friends that think differently, think slower. They process and they're deep, deep thinkers, but they need the time to process. They're not gonna come onto a podcast and just go a hundred miles an hour, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. They're gonna go, I'm gonna think about what I just heard for a minute. speaker-0: Absolutely. And we love those people. speaker-1: yeah, but that's the blog is gonna be a really good place for them to get on board. speaker-0: Yes, they perfect. Then the last thing of course, and we're already gonna be sort of here, and that's we're gonna have the community. We're going to have the literal interactive space for more than just the guests, for the listeners, for anybody that wants to join. speaker-1: looking for our people yeah who resonate. If you don't resonate again, that's fine. I wanna find the people. I'm putting the magnet out, the radar out. Where are those people that are willing to go to this next level? speaker-0: And you'll find your people. The people that come in will find you their people. So that we want to create this community. And there's a couple of different, you know, avenues of community. Some will be, one of them's going to be take the latest episode or whatever episode you want. Talk speaker-1: Yeah, get together at a coffee shop and talk about speaker-0: about it. Just reflect on that or online together. You can banter back and forth. I I agreed with Mac on that one. Or I did. speaker-1: Rev was totally off base. Where was he coming from? speaker-0: Whatever. You guys get to discuss that. And then the other part of that community will be just some thoughts, just some random, hey, here's what came across the radar today. I read this, I saw this. Whatever. It doesn't have to be anything major. It can just be I read one line today in my meditation, or I saw something on the web. Yes. speaker-1: Share it with the family. What do y'all think of this? So excited me and I want to share it. speaker-0: It is. So just some different avenues to express ourselves, right? All right. And then we're just giving you some more background about who we are. We want independent minds. Everybody has a tribe. Everybody has people associate with that that are like them, that think in some ways like them. And that's beautiful. I mean, there's nothing wrong with that at all. But we're really going to encourage and again would love to have people that are going to interact with us that have do independent thinking. You it doesn't mean it doesn't align with others. speaker-1: Okay with the word maybe. Yeah. Or have you considered? speaker-0: Exactly. And I'm gonna own it though. It's I'm and it can be it can be in alignment with others. That's okay, but I'm owning it in public. Yeah. Right? It's being independent. You don't have to agree with us to belong here. Not at all. We've already been saying that. You only have to be willing to think for yourself. Right? speaker-1: Amen. speaker-0: So that's th that's that those are the peeps. Those are, you know, and again, if you're not quite there, stick in here with us. You don't have to participate, listen and watch and take it in and get your feet wet and then trickle in on some of these other ways to participate. speaker-1: You know, I was watching a football game this last weekend, and I was kind of happy with the the end result, but there was a young quarterback and they told his story. He was playing for Alabama. yeah. Okay. And telling his story of sitting in the stands. And he goes, I want what they have down there. Now he saw a game where they beat Georgia. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: And his passion and his smile and his excitement, I want a little bit of that. Yes. I want to be on. Now he's the quarterback for the team. And I'm saying, don't limit what. The call of your soul can bring. You may listen and listen for six months and go, maybe I can put my toe in the water. Right. Maybe there's something here because you wouldn't be here by accident. I don't believe in accidents. You've tuned in, you're hearing this conversation for some kind of reason. Don't push it away automatically. speaker-0: Absolutely. And you can go into the community. You're gonna have a way to express there. On the homepage, and we'll get there at the bottom in the footer. there's a email address. You can send an email. It doesn't matter. There's a place where you can comment and you don't even have to be involved in anything else. You can just speaker-1: Now let me ask a question. Can you be anonymous? We're thinking out loud. I I don't know if I want to I'll just be honest, I'm struggling with that. I've often told people who write me notes, don't do it anonymously or it's going into a certain file. speaker-0: That's a good when you see that home page, you're gonna put your name in there. speaker-1: I want you to own it. speaker-0: I I agree. No worries there. I'm gonna stick with that. All right. So we're kind of going down here. And if you're gonna interact, here's some here's some suggestions, here's some advice, here's some wisdom. All right. Ask the question before you have a defensible answer ready. speaker-1: No, nobody's here to trap anybody. speaker-0: Don't wait for a gap, all right, in order to jump in. speaker-1: Three of the most powerful words on the planet is I don't know. Yes. I'm gonna ask a question and I don't really have an answer. Great. That's a beautiful place. speaker-0: I I don't know. I love that, man. I gotta put that out here somewhere in that with those words. It's okay to be to say I don't know. Read the person you find the hardest to read. And again, when we say read, this is a lot this is also for you as you interact in your sphere of influence. So reading these people, you will start we're gonna encourage you to start to read the people, not only through their words, is they You know, as you interact with them, you can do an online session with people. Just schedule something for yourself. Go ahead. And then also the people that you have conversation with. Learn to read those people and people effectively. Shall we call it? speaker-1: Somewhere at the bottom of that foundation is the idea of seeking first to understand before I am understood. So let me just sit before I pass judgment on you. Great. Let me try to understand. Let me listen a little bit more. I'm going to try and read you. That's a holy thing. Yes. And then ninety-nine times out of a hundred, you're gonna go, I missed something, and I'm really glad I paid attention. Yes. speaker-0: A lot gets by and that helps you also get your antennas up to people and your energy out there instead of going mock six with your speaker-1: What it will do is challenge all the assumptions, not just the questions or the answers that you've had, it will challenge the assumptions you've made about somebody. The wall is already up. If I bring the wall down and I listen, I go, hmm, I've misjudged. speaker-0: Now, speaking of the wall, if there's anybody that's listening, I'm just gonna do one off here. speaker-1: They're there. speaker-0: If anybody that goes to church with us at Unity is listening, I just want you to know, and the Rev saw this today when he came, because I've been r decorating and redoing our recording studio down here, I have half of the wall. speaker-1: The blue wall. It's going down in history. They'll be talking about the blue wall for the speaker-0: Right here. All right. Right here in our studio. So just so you know, the wall. All right. Treat doubt as information, not failure. Yeah. You if you doubt, it's not a failure to understand. It's a it's a beautiful place to be so that you can get inspiration, revelation, you get downloads. speaker-1: Again, in every power of the words I don't know. Yes. I don't know is not a failure. It's a success. And it's opening up greater success if you can be comfortable with it. Yes. So I'm so I'm doubting. I've I've believed something my whole life and I'm not too sure anymore. Great. speaker-0: Let's play with it. So I hope it's re this is resonating with you as you listen out there. Hopefully you know some people that this will resonate with, because the more the merrier as we just mix it up, right? And then lastly, stay in the room after a challenging conversation starts. In other words, don't bail. Don't don't run the other way the minute it gets a little bit uncomfortable. Again, you'll grow. speaker-1: Well, and and and this is not just a pretty idea. I spent most of my life running from anything that resembled conflict or disagreement or argument. It's like, it's gonna be a fight. And my fear itself actually created more fights because I ran away from it. And when I stayed in the fire and speaker-0: There's some wisdom right there. speaker-1: and I suspended the assessments, the judgment and and the fear and went, Wow, I've really learned from this person. And I would have missed it if if I made them the man one, fear says I've made you an enemy. Now you meant you gotta be keep yourself safe. You know, we'll call each other accountable. But some of the best conversations, the best wisdom were not in classrooms. It was in a moment where I wanted to run and I wanted to go out the back door and I didn't. speaker-0: I love it. Yeah. And it might cost you something. This is what this is all about too. It might cost you certainty. It might cost you a little bit of your comfort zone. It might cost you some of your biases. It might, I mean, there's all kinds of things. And hopefully it does in some little way to make you think about it. Right. Yep. So we've got another part on the front page where you can join this community. That link is not live yet, but a community of change agents. We already talked about this. Built one hard conversation at a time. speaker-1: Yep. So and once this is going live and you signed on there, invite the people that want this kind of conversation. Right. Get them to sign on, get them to start listening to one episode, that's all. And see and see what happens. I love the idea of the podcast not just being a one time listening thing, but an experience. Wow, let's get four or five people together and talk about these crackpots on faith and friction and what they said. And yeah, or wow, I've never thought of that. Man, that to me is this the success. Whether this podcast does anything except invoke more conversations on the planet. speaker-0: This is another place right here on the website where you can do that. So we've got a whole place right here on the website that's entitled Attaboys. Hey, way to go, Rev. Way to go, Mac. Or shit. Shit. What are you guys talking about? What the hell? Are you serious? speaker-1: You're hot in the left field. speaker-0: What where'd that come from? And so you don't have to, you don't have to it's a just a place to put your name, put your email, and just tell us you want to tell us. That's all it is. Okay. Yep. speaker-1: In kindness, in love, but in honesty and truth. speaker-0: There it is. So this is a nice place. Disagree with an episode. Have a question nobody in your circle will touch. Noah maverick we should be talking to. Great place. Right here. Just send us a little note, put it down, send it over. Friction is the point. Right? So everything's about the faith and the friction. Let's not lose sight of that, right? Yeah. So there it is. That's our homepage. And way at the bottom. You'll see that I have an email down there that says Mac at FaithHyphen and Friction. That's another place that you can get us at, as well as our social media. and as here's a good thing too. If you sign up, if we have your name, then as some of this other stuff goes live, as it's you know, viewable or participatable, excuse me, You'll noti you'll get notified. You'll know it. And so then you can be aware and start to engage in some different ways. speaker-1: Right. You know, I'm a face I can already see the vision. I'm a face-to-face guy. Yeah. And I eventually want to get those people who sign on right away. And this is gonna sound like a sales pitch. I wanna meet them at their conversations. Yes. I wanna go to the restaurant and see, hey, what are you guys talking about? Right. And go, wow, I never thought of it that way. speaker-0: Exactly. So there's a link to the podcast. There's not a whole lot more here. speaker-1: You've made it very easy to have access to what we're doing here. speaker-0: I mean, come on, guys. You know, gals, come on. I say guys, everybody gets that. Okay. That's a it's an ism. It's an ism. So we're on the podcast page now. Thoughtful conversations, no what? Tidy endings. Right? So we have faith out loud now. This is what the spoken thing's all about with the guests and us. Every episode sits down with someone who refused the easy answer and asks what their faith costs them. God, we want to hear those stories, man. They are s they're mind-blowing and life-changing. I've heard speaker-1: It's what it's cost you and where it's leading you. Yes. If it's an expanded growing faith, it costs you something, but it's also expanding you. And it's leading you somewhere magnificent. speaker-0: Count on it. So send us some people. Send us some people that you know of or you. It may be you. But we record the friction on the podcast, not the polish. I love that, right? Doubt, dissent, and the parts of belief that do not fit neatly, maybe into a sermon, right? If you have ever felt too curious for your congregation or your tribe or the circle that you run in and too committed for your critics, this show was made for you. That's speaker-1: Hm. I love that. speaker-0: who we're, you know, that's who we're, that's who we're gonna get to resonate. If this is already resonating with you, then you're in the right spot. Okay. If you know somebody that can resonate with this, or if you don't, this isn't a new area where you wanna go, but you know somebody that will. speaker-1: Exactly. speaker-0: This. Yeah, exactly. So so there you go. And then just below that, nothing complicated, you're gonna see the latest episodes. They're gonna be right there and you're gonna be able to catch all. You can do load more posts and it'll it'll load as many of them as we have if you keep punching the button. All right. So speaker-1: Nice job. You put a lot of work in and I think it's great stuff. speaker-0: I I'm ha I'm I'm really excited about it. give us some feedback, participate in whatever way makes sense for you. But Rev, we're gonna strap in, brother. speaker-1: I I I'm feeling like I need to put the seat belt on. I don't speaker-0: Okay. It might well, it might be a four point harness at this point. You never know. Okay. You know, we'll just have to wait to see what happens. But yes, the vision. I'm glad we're participating in this together. Your wisdom, your perspective between the two of us. I think we can bring a lot of hum humility as well as hopefully some wisdom and some perspective. speaker-1: All of the above and that which we can't even you can picture and envision right now. Great. Bring it on. speaker-0: What do we like to say? Or better. Yeah. Right? We're gonna leave it wide open for the or better. So we hope as you're listening your life this week, look at it as an or better. Tune in now starting next week. We'll start gathering some guests. we have a list already that we're gonna start getting people on the podcast. In the meantime as we're building up that and probably in between, we won't necessarily have a guest every week. You know, we'll continue to bring some of the top topics that are going on out there, you know, like we've been doing. So it's gonna be a little bit of more or less motive. Right? speaker-1: Yeah. order fork sounds great, I'm hungry. speaker-0: Listen, thanks for listening. Check us out on the website. Remember, www.faithfriction.com and check check the website out. Give us some comments. You'll be able to do it right there. And we're going to look forward to having you part of what we're doing. Catch speaker-1: So we you know. speaker-0: you next week. All right. Take care.
