- 1:25Speaker 2: because you know, it's always always replaying, so yeah, it's.
- 1:29Speaker 1: A popular replay. And how about a synopsis?
- 1:33Speaker 2: All right? A young entrepreneur is trying to win over
- 1:37Speaker 2: investors for the dating app she has developed to help
- 1:42Speaker 2: bring hold the phone dating app. Oh my gosh, I
- 1:47Speaker 2: have so many words, and obviously I did not read
- 1:49Speaker 2: this synopsis when I cut and paste it. Let me
- 1:53Speaker 2: finish it here to help bring on investors for expansion,
- 1:57Speaker 2: she promises to take part in using it in the
- 2:00Speaker 2: coming weeks before Christmas to fine love and track her progress. Okay,
- 2:05Speaker 2: all right.
- 2:07Speaker 1: What about dating app?
- 2:08Speaker 2: Do you take issue with? Well, I don't want this
- 2:13Speaker 2: wasn't a dating app. It should have been a dating app.
- 2:17Speaker 2: But it was a business connection app. Yes, that's what
- 2:21Speaker 2: she was pitching it. She wasn't pitching it as a
- 2:24Speaker 2: dating app. Okay, let's talk first impressions.
- 2:28Speaker 1: How about news and notes?
- 2:29Speaker 2: Okay, news and notes?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Mingo. All the Way was filmed and you guessed Vancouver, Canada.
- 2:35Speaker 1: As we mentioned, it originally aired in twenty eighteen. And
- 2:39Speaker 1: I have to say that watching a twenty eighteen Hallmark
- 2:42Speaker 1: movie through my twenty twenty one Hallmark lens did some
- 2:46Speaker 1: things to this movie for me.
- 2:49Speaker 2: What tell me? Well, I would like to save that
- 2:52Speaker 2: for my first impression. Okay, Okay, fine, fine, more news
- 2:56Speaker 2: and notes. Brandt thought he's got that IU.
- 3:01Speaker 1: It's just Daughtry like Chris Daughtry. That's what I'm saying.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Efin last name, I can't. I don't know why I
- 3:08Speaker 2: have struggle with that particular sort of last name. Anyway, Okay,
- 3:13Speaker 2: what is it Daughtry like Chris Daughtry. Okay, Brandt Dougherty
- 3:16Speaker 2: looks what is it like Shannon? It looks like Shannon,
- 3:20Speaker 2: like Doughty? Like it's not Daughtry because it's r T.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Y Oh, brand I'm so sorry. I look, I don't
- 3:27Speaker 2: mean to be a joke. I hate it people can't
- 3:28Speaker 2: say people's names. I have a very easy name to say.
- 3:31Speaker 2: People have said it wrong my entire life. So I apologize.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Brant Uh Doughty whoa, I'm so sorry. Okay, let's go on.
- 3:39Speaker 2: What about brand You're so funny? Yeah, I just can't
- 3:42Speaker 2: say it. He looks just like Matt Boemer. I'm so
- 3:46Speaker 2: tongue tied. Right now, and I can't say anybody any
- 3:50Speaker 2: anybody's name anyway, Bomber Boomer from White Collar.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Yeah, we I totally agree, and we're gonna need a
- 3:57Speaker 1: side by side of the two of them in our
- 3:58Speaker 1: show notes.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I will. But when in the show notes, there's a
- 4:01Speaker 2: bazillion of them on the internet because I looked it
- 4:03Speaker 2: up because I was like, he looks like who And
- 4:05Speaker 2: then all of a sudden, like there's many people agree
- 4:08Speaker 2: with you, yes, exactly, And many times I was like,
- 4:11Speaker 2: is that that guy from White Collar? Is that the guy? Like, Nope,
- 4:15Speaker 2: it's not. What are you drinking?
- 4:17Speaker 1: I'm sorry, it's gone. Now, it's gone. Now it's my
- 4:21Speaker 1: mad I made a candy cane ice coffee at Starbucks
- 4:24Speaker 1: this morning.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Oh exciting. Yes, how do you make that?
- 4:29Speaker 1: It's an ice coffee with peppermint and vanilla.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I have more news and notes please. This movie also
- 4:37Speaker 2: stars The Bionic Woman herself, Lindsay Wagner. Were you too
- 4:42Speaker 2: young for the Bionic Woman?
- 4:45Speaker 1: The Bionic Woman is not in my pop culture wheelhouse?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it was in the seventies, Like I
- 4:51Speaker 2: think I watched it in repeats actually as a child,
- 4:55Speaker 2: as a very young child. Yeah, uh yeah, it's kind
- 4:58Speaker 2: of cool to see like her in this movie. Shocks great.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I have a quote from Jen Lily about this movie,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and tell me if you agree with this. She says,
- 5:09Speaker 1: it's one thing I loved about the script is that
- 5:11Speaker 1: it's a little outside the normal formula. And that's okay.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Podcasters note disagree. It's still got that Meg Ryan Tom
- 5:19Speaker 1: Hanks charm that I look for in wrong coms. I'm
- 5:22Speaker 1: so sorry, but I disagree with that as well, Jen Lily. Now, look, Brent,
- 5:29Speaker 1: possibly saying it wrong Darty is a little bit of
- 5:33Speaker 1: a wowie zowie for me. But my wish list in
- 5:37Speaker 1: this movie is really just a one giant list of
- 5:40Speaker 1: complaints I have about this movie.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Meggie, Oh my god, so is mine actually put it in?
- 5:46Speaker 2: Did you see that? Well? No, I all over, I
- 5:49Speaker 2: have questions, I have complaints. Yes, okay, okay, let me see.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I even have a brand new category for this episode. We're
- 5:56Speaker 2: on the same page. Okay. Here are some updated news
- 6:00Speaker 2: and notes. So, Jen Lily is currently pregnant, and what
- 6:04Speaker 2: I found out is that this child will now make
- 6:08Speaker 2: them a family of five. I didn't know she was
- 6:11Speaker 2: like an advocate for foster care, and she has previously
- 6:14Speaker 2: adopted two children from foster care. Then they have a
- 6:17Speaker 2: biological daughter and she is currently pregnant.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Now did you know Jen Lily has two albums?
- 6:23Speaker 2: I did. I watched a video of her singing did
- 6:27Speaker 2: you see it? No, I'm gonna leave it in our
- 6:29Speaker 2: show notes, guys, it's so bad. Oh no.
- 6:33Speaker 1: So she has a holiday album and then she has
- 6:37Speaker 1: an album called Hindsight.
- 6:39Speaker 2: The video I watched I think is from the Hindsight album.
- 6:43Speaker 2: It's called the King of Hearts. It was terrible. It
- 6:46Speaker 2: was so bad. Oh table Jen Lily? Oh boy, My
- 6:54Speaker 2: final news and notes is that? And this one really
- 6:58Speaker 2: chaps my head is generally is starting in a Gag
- 7:01Speaker 2: Family movie on November twenty seventh at eight pm called
- 7:05Speaker 2: Royally Wrapped for Christmas. Oh generally, So, I obviously won't
- 7:12Speaker 2: be watching that movie, but I have seen I think
- 7:14Speaker 2: it's sleepy Kitty pot who has been saying that, like
- 7:18Speaker 2: those movies that air on Ghak Family, are then available
- 7:23Speaker 2: to stream the next day on a different platform, So
- 7:27Speaker 2: if you don't want to support Gag Family on their
- 7:29Speaker 2: original watch, then you can watch it the day ye.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Like a lot of them are on the IMDb platform,
- 7:34Speaker 1: which is free with ads, and then I think some
- 7:37Speaker 1: on Paramount for free.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm just gonna speak.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I'm not watching them at all, but definitely find them
- 7:44Speaker 1: streaming elsewhere. I never hope for the downfall of a business,
- 7:49Speaker 1: but Gas holiday movies aren't even rating, Like, they don't
- 7:52Speaker 1: even make the ratings, and so look, I'm not upset
- 7:57Speaker 1: about a business who's primary goal is hateful, not succeeding.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Are you looking to see how their movies are rating?
- 8:10Speaker 1: Like our friend Sleepy Kitty Paw shares it, I say,
- 8:14Speaker 1: our friends. She doesn't know who we are, but shares
- 8:17Speaker 1: it on Twitter regularly. I think she needs in there.
- 8:21Speaker 2: We asked her, We asked her him they we don't
- 8:25Speaker 2: know to be on the show, and they declined.
- 8:28Speaker 1: So yes, cby Kitty POPA is to keep a lower profile.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Did not really anticipate their insider knowledge blowing up, but
- 8:37Speaker 1: we do appreciate their presence on Twitter. They are a
- 8:39Speaker 1: go to source of Hallmark and holiday movie information for me.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Are you ready for first impressions? Yeah? I am so.
- 8:49Speaker 1: All of the movies. We are doing three throwback movies
- 8:52Speaker 1: in this holiday break time, and they were all chosen
- 8:55Speaker 1: by me because I'm the only one who's watched.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Old hall Ark movies.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So I suggested some, and I had some. The reasons
- 9:05Speaker 1: I suggested were I thought they would be fun to
- 9:08Speaker 1: talk about. I had strong reasons, but in my mind,
- 9:13Speaker 1: Mingle All the Way was a movie that I really enjoyed.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I said, we have to do Mingle All the Way.
- 9:18Speaker 1: And my first impression upon rewatch is why do I
- 9:22Speaker 1: have such fond memories of this movie? I have so
- 9:24Speaker 1: many issues here.
- 9:26Speaker 2: My first impression is this stupid app stupid movie. Gen
- 9:30Speaker 2: Lily isn't for me. The Wedding Date from two thousand
- 9:33Speaker 2: and five is so much better than this garbage.
- 9:36Speaker 1: The wedding Date.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Yes with Dermott mulroney, where he's like Escort and he
- 9:42Speaker 2: goes with I don't even remember what her name is,
- 9:44Speaker 2: the redhead from Will and Grace. Do you not ever
- 9:47Speaker 2: miss a great movie? This movie? This is a movie
- 9:50Speaker 2: I stop on if it's on TV and I see it.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I adore Dermot mulroney. Listeners of the podcast, you may
- 9:58Speaker 1: not know this, but one of my all ti my
- 10:00Speaker 1: favorite movies is My Best Friend wedding. Do not watch
- 10:02Speaker 1: it with me because I know every line and cannot
- 10:04Speaker 1: stop myself from quoting the entire movie. I think I
- 10:07Speaker 1: need a wedding date rewatch as a palate cleanser after
- 10:10Speaker 1: this steaming garbage.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Totally oop pot take.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Okay, I only have one thing I liked about this movie.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Wait, but what was your first impression?
- 10:21Speaker 1: Why do I have such fond memories of this movie?
- 10:23Speaker 2: I have so many issues here. Oh my bad, my bad, Okay, okay, okay,
- 10:28Speaker 2: what what did you like? Then?
- 10:30Speaker 1: Lindsay Wagner plays an uptight mother so well. The look
- 10:34Speaker 1: on her face when Jeff brings the eggnog is classic. Now,
- 10:41Speaker 1: I hated her character, but Lindsay Wagner sold it.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I absolutely agree. That is my number one liked item.
- 10:48Speaker 2: When Jeff brings his famous egg nog to Molly's parents'
- 10:51Speaker 2: house and the mom is horrified and stashes it to
- 10:54Speaker 2: the side. I get that it's by design, but it
- 10:57Speaker 2: was damn funny. Yes, we're funny, and her face was everything. Yes,
- 11:04Speaker 2: loved it.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Poor Lindsay Wagner really really drew a stinker in this one,
- 11:08Speaker 1: but she she was a gem. Is there anything else
- 11:11Speaker 1: you liked about this movie because I'm gonna admit I've
- 11:13Speaker 1: got nothing else to say.
- 11:15Speaker 2: One more, one more, a finer point when Jeff gives
- 11:19Speaker 2: the angel to Molly's dad at the Christmas exchange or whatever.
- 11:23Speaker 2: I thought that was very nice.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I will agree that was a nice moment.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I'm with you, But I mean it was like a
- 11:31Speaker 2: blip in the overall of this huh stupid ass story
- 11:35Speaker 2: all right.
- 11:36Speaker 1: In the wish section, this is just not so much wish,
- 11:40Speaker 1: more like what the.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Is happening here? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah?
- 11:45Speaker 1: May I begin go for it?
- 11:48Speaker 2: First? I have, Uh, how is it possible?
- 11:50Speaker 1: They never discussed where she works? They are networking buddies,
- 11:53Speaker 1: not actually dating.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Because she, I think, tells him that she is tech
- 12:00Speaker 2: or yeah, an app developer, but he doesn't like inquire
- 12:03Speaker 2: about like, oh, what's your app about?
- 12:05Speaker 1: Not? How is that not? The next question?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Right?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Right?
- 12:11Speaker 2: Completely agree? Do single professionals really need other single professionals
- 12:18Speaker 2: escorts to company events? Is my question.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I mean, this movie is from twenty eighteen, not two thousand,
- 12:25Speaker 1: not in eighteen sixty five, so it seems like people
- 12:30Speaker 1: do not need to be coupled to be taken seriously.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I agree, like I'm into very many like events with
- 12:40Speaker 2: my husband, like work events, and nobody asks me like
- 12:45Speaker 2: what I do or you know what I mean, Like
- 12:47Speaker 2: I'm just there as his date, his wife, you.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Know, and they don't take him more seriously because he
- 12:52Speaker 1: settled down. And in fact, for women, I think perhaps
- 12:56Speaker 1: they take you less seriously because they're afraid you're gonna
- 12:59Speaker 1: go get pregnant, have babies and disrupt their business plan.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah, they want you to stay single. They don't dating anyone.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Don't get married. Then that starts a ticking clock and
- 13:10Speaker 1: we're gonna have to have coverage for you while you're
- 13:12Speaker 1: out for six months.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Totally. Well, I will never forget when I worked in
- 13:18Speaker 2: I worked for an automotive company at one time, and
- 13:21Speaker 2: that's a lot of young professionals and there was like
- 13:24Speaker 2: a string of like pregnancies and management was not happy
- 13:28Speaker 2: about that.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Of course, I'm not tell you that. No. I when
- 13:33Speaker 1: I was teaching when I had my first baby and
- 13:36Speaker 1: I went out early on maternity, I was not one
- 13:39Speaker 1: of those like teach up until you have the baby.
- 13:41Speaker 1: My doctor was like, you need to be done, and
- 13:44Speaker 1: my boss was like, you know, my wife and I
- 13:46Speaker 1: were both teaching when she had our daughter, and we
- 13:49Speaker 1: worked right up until the day she went into labor,
- 13:51Speaker 1: and we both walked into our office like she's in labor,
- 13:54Speaker 1: and I was like, Wow, I'm really really proud of you,
- 13:56Speaker 1: but I am absolutely not doing that.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Yeah, Like why I set that expectation? God, I hate people,
- 14:02Speaker 2: all right, keep going.
- 14:04Speaker 1: There's a moment toward the end of the movie where
- 14:07Speaker 1: they're at a party and Jeff is approached by an
- 14:10Speaker 1: ex girlfriend and he has a very brief, very u
- 14:15Speaker 1: vanilla conversation with her. It's very benign, and Molly gets
- 14:19Speaker 1: pissed and she doesn't even give him a chance to
- 14:22Speaker 1: speak to her after the fact, and saying hello to
- 14:26Speaker 1: an ex isn't a betrayal and their conversation is like
- 14:29Speaker 1: four minutes long.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah, this is where, like the Hallmark tropes really get me, Like, yes, Jess,
- 14:36Speaker 2: communicate to each other who that was and that it
- 14:39Speaker 2: was not a big deal. And why you're you getting
- 14:41Speaker 2: pissed Molly because you don't even like this guy, or
- 14:43Speaker 2: so you say, Oh, I want to punch her in
- 14:47Speaker 2: the face. I hated Mollie.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I found her obnoxious And if she loves Christmas so much,
- 14:52Speaker 1: why doesn't she do it herself? She's an adult woman.
- 14:55Speaker 1: The entire premise of this movie is that she's independent
- 14:58Speaker 1: and she doesn't need a man, which, by the way,
- 15:00Speaker 1: I'm on team you don't need a man to be complete.
- 15:03Speaker 1: But also, you are an adult. You can decorate your
- 15:06Speaker 1: own tree, you can make your own Christmas magic. Who
- 15:09Speaker 1: cares if your parents go to Aspen for Christmas?
- 15:11Speaker 2: Now right? Right? Okay, So back at the beginning, and
- 15:16Speaker 2: this is we're circling back to this. But the synopsis
- 15:19Speaker 2: says that she has created a dating app. But isn't
- 15:23Speaker 2: she adamant that it's not a dating app?
- 15:26Speaker 1: Well, I think I guess it's a dating app without
- 15:29Speaker 1: the intention to find love. It's more of a dating
- 15:33Speaker 1: with a purpose app.
- 15:34Speaker 2: A dating app so stupid, it's so stupid. Why not
- 15:37Speaker 2: create a dating app for professionals? They have dating apps
- 15:41Speaker 2: for farmers, so why can't they have a dating app
- 15:44Speaker 2: for professionals? And I have a.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Category that I wrote twenty eighteen through a twenty twenty
- 15:50Speaker 1: twenty one lens, And it was so revolutionary in this
- 15:54Speaker 1: movie that people were meeting each other on apps in
- 15:56Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. As far as I know that is
- 15:58Speaker 1: the only way people meet each other. Everyone on the apps.
- 16:01Speaker 2: That's the only way they like meet each other. It's
- 16:03Speaker 2: the only way people they hook up, you know what
- 16:05Speaker 2: I mean? Like nobody goes to like a bar anymore,
- 16:07Speaker 2: just to like, I don't know everyone apps.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I'm very curious from someone who is in the dating
- 16:15Speaker 1: world right now, if you feel like you need a
- 16:17Speaker 1: date to an event, would you ever try and meet
- 16:21Speaker 1: someone via an app to do that? I think it's
- 16:23Speaker 1: possible that someone would feel like I do not want
- 16:26Speaker 1: to show up to this cousin's wedding alone because everyone's
- 16:28Speaker 1: gonna say the right right, like do you want to
- 16:31Speaker 1: meet someone and not like fake dating, but like, hey,
- 16:34Speaker 1: we could have a good time together. I don't need
- 16:36Speaker 1: you to be my boyfriend, but let's go have fun
- 16:38Speaker 1: at this event. Do people do that?
- 16:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna say the answer is yes, yeah. But email
- 16:45Speaker 2: us Megan and Windy at gmail dot com. I would
- 16:47Speaker 2: want to know right totally. Do you have anything else.
- 16:50Speaker 1: You wished for? I wrote Brent sucks, but so does Mollie.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I wrote the same thing. I got a completely different couple.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Mollie and Jeff. We're not a match? Is his name?
- 17:03Speaker 1: Jeff Brent is Jeff's coworker. Who oh Mollie, Oh Jeff's boss.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I believe yeah, and also thus outing Mollie to Jeff.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I don't understand why she doesn't tell him. I mean,
- 17:24Speaker 1: first of all, it's twenty eighteen.
- 17:26Speaker 2: We have the Internet.
- 17:26Speaker 1: People are googling the people that they're dating, particularly if
- 17:30Speaker 1: you're dating them in this circumstance, like you want to
- 17:32Speaker 1: make a good impression. It's a fifteen second Google search.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Her name would immediately pop up as the founder of
- 17:38Speaker 1: Mingle all the way. Secondly, wait, why is it bad
- 17:41Speaker 1: that you created the app?
- 17:43Speaker 2: I don't You're.
- 17:44Speaker 1: All there with the intention of using each other to
- 17:48Speaker 1: make a good impression on somebody in the business world,
- 17:52Speaker 1: So why can't you tell him like you created the
- 17:54Speaker 1: app and you're using it for the same exact reason
- 17:57Speaker 1: that he is.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why Molly sucks.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Molly sucks.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Molly sucks. I don't like anybody in this movie because
- 18:04Speaker 2: I actually, at times you got that Jeff as a
- 18:05Speaker 2: real dick.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So I was like, first meeting, he's so mean to her,
- 18:09Speaker 1: and then after the fact he describes her as like
- 18:12Speaker 1: uptight and a grand urus Scrooge, and I mean, she's
- 18:18Speaker 1: not not those things. But also he's not like endearing
- 18:21Speaker 1: himself to me or anyone in this movie. The only
- 18:25Speaker 1: time he behaves in a way that I appreciate is
- 18:29Speaker 1: when he walks away from the ex girlfriend. He's like,
- 18:33Speaker 1: I need to go spend time with Molly. We're here together.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I like thought that was the appropriate response. You don't
- 18:39Speaker 1: spend all night talking to the x et cetera. But
- 18:43Speaker 1: the rest of it, they all sucked. I have one
- 18:45Speaker 1: last thing in my twenty eighteen through a twenty twenty
- 18:47Speaker 1: one lens, Molly gives the gift of a quote fitness monitor.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I think it's to her future brother in law that
- 18:57Speaker 1: she gives it to me.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I don't even remember that what was a fitness monitor.
- 19:01Speaker 1: It's a fit Bit basically eighteen maybe was like the
- 19:05Speaker 1: Pinnacle because now everyone like uses their Apple Watch or
- 19:09Speaker 1: they're smart watch for that sort of thing. But like,
- 19:11Speaker 1: there was a real high point of the Fitbit fitness
- 19:15Speaker 1: monitor step counter craze.
- 19:18Speaker 2: And it is.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Funny how in the very recent past that.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Was Yeah, it didn't age well and it was not
- 19:26Speaker 2: even that.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Long ago or no, it totally dates this movie. I
- 19:31Speaker 1: think that's the hard thing when you make a movie
- 19:32Speaker 1: about technology, because it really dates the movie.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, are.
- 19:39Speaker 1: You ready for did you see that? Yeah?
- 19:40Speaker 2: And I have several but also a little bit of
- 19:44Speaker 2: like complaints. Sokay. The first one the mingle all the
- 19:49Speaker 2: way offices are in a garage, which fine, that's very
- 19:52Speaker 2: tech startup, right. Did you notice it was in a garage?
- 19:55Speaker 1: I did, Like, that was a garage.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I saw a garage door, right, But Molly has a
- 20:02Speaker 2: nameplate on her desk, like a nameplate that says Molly
- 20:05Speaker 2: whatever her.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Last name is.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I was like, dude, it's you and the other guy.
- 20:08Speaker 2: There's not customers coming in here. There's like no professionals
- 20:12Speaker 2: coming into your garage set up, lady.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yeah, your bestie is the only one who comes by.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Yeah. So dumb, so dumb.
- 20:21Speaker 1: And they say we'll have a proper office soon enough.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Although the fact that they have any office, it's not
- 20:26Speaker 1: one of their kitchen tables for this app startup is kind.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Of mind blowing, right right, They're like, no, we have
- 20:32Speaker 2: to go to work every day out in the garage.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I don't know, Okay, So Jim Lily for me is
- 20:38Speaker 2: the queen of the Si. Every sentence ends with like
- 20:42Speaker 2: some sort of heavy sigh, Like it's always like, well,
- 20:46Speaker 2: my mom is unreasonable or like I wanted that. Angel
- 20:51Speaker 2: I just so annoying to me. Every the way she
- 20:56Speaker 2: talks is so like it's not breathy. It's just this
- 21:00Speaker 2: like acting sigh. I hate it. She's almost unwatchable to
- 21:07Speaker 2: me now, because that's all I notice.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I love it.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I love it terrible. Do you have any did you
- 21:13Speaker 2: see that I have?
- 21:15Speaker 1: At one point she has to make up an app,
- 21:18Speaker 1: and her made up app she's like, uh, my app
- 21:20Speaker 1: is called book it, And I just laughed because remember
- 21:24Speaker 1: the boocket program when we were in elementary school and
- 21:26Speaker 1: you would get like a free pan pizza at pizza
- 21:28Speaker 1: Hut if you read six books at school.
- 21:30Speaker 2: No, I don't remember that at all.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Oh man, there was a pizza Hut in Orange on
- 21:36Speaker 1: like no O Ranchin Lincoln, and you would go there
- 21:38Speaker 1: for our free pan pizza. I can remember my dad
- 21:41Speaker 1: taking my brother and I'm sure my mom was like
- 21:42Speaker 1: you take them. And they had video games and they
- 21:46Speaker 1: had one of those driving video games that I really like,
- 21:49Speaker 1: not like sit down. This was like nineteen eighty seven,
- 21:52Speaker 1: but like a stand up deriving game I would play
- 21:55Speaker 1: every time we went for my free pan pizza from
- 21:57Speaker 1: the Boocket program.
- 21:59Speaker 2: It wasn't position, was it pole? Position?
- 22:01Speaker 1: May have been? May have been fellow gen xers way
- 22:05Speaker 1: in book it you were mine?
- 22:07Speaker 2: I don't remember book. It's probably because I didn't read
- 22:09Speaker 2: when I was.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I would also like to know how that fabric angel broke.
- 22:15Speaker 1: At one point.
- 22:16Speaker 2: The face was the face fabric too, because it almost
- 22:19Speaker 2: looked porcelain.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I thought, okay, perhaps, but the whole premise is like
- 22:23Speaker 1: this angel that's in a big dress broke, and now
- 22:27Speaker 1: we don't have it anymore. So okay, I'll give it
- 22:30Speaker 1: to you. The porcelain face broke.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Okay. So but speaking of the angel, so when she's
- 22:35Speaker 2: in the store and like comes in and is like,
- 22:38Speaker 2: is that a blah blah blah like from an old
- 22:41Speaker 2: department store or whatever, she grabs it, then she puts
- 22:44Speaker 2: it down. Uh huh, Like, are we to believe that's
- 22:47Speaker 2: the cash register that she's putting it at? And it is?
- 22:52Speaker 2: That's when you say, like, can you hold this for
- 22:53Speaker 2: me while I shop?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Yeah, she's a dummy.
- 22:56Speaker 2: She just puts it down. That's on you generly, Molly
- 23:01Speaker 2: stupid ass, like, yes, somebody else is if somebody has
- 23:04Speaker 2: something and puts it down, it's fair game.
- 23:06Speaker 1: It is fair game one hundred percent. And that was
- 23:10Speaker 1: Jeff's angel. I have one true did you see that
- 23:14Speaker 1: from this movie? And that is when they get into
- 23:17Speaker 1: the carriage. It is raining outside. You can see it
- 23:20Speaker 1: on the ground, like it is actively raining their puddles,
- 23:23Speaker 1: but there is no rain falling on them when they
- 23:26Speaker 1: are in the carriage, so it's not like fake rain.
- 23:29Speaker 1: It's like there someone's like holding something over them as
- 23:33Speaker 1: they are writing in that carriage because they do not
- 23:35Speaker 1: get wet, but it is raining.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Maybe it's like a canopy over them or something that
- 23:39Speaker 2: you can can't see. Oh, I didn't notice that. Did
- 23:42Speaker 2: you see the Jurgen's lotion product placement?
- 23:45Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, did I ever this? I remember that
- 23:50Speaker 1: like on her desk right, yeah, something like that. I
- 23:53Speaker 1: remember that actually from the first time I watched it
- 23:56Speaker 1: because it's so really they like zoom right in on it.
- 23:59Speaker 2: This is pre Balsam Hill sponsorship. Okay, my last did
- 24:03Speaker 2: you see that? And this is just more of a complaint,
- 24:05Speaker 2: but Molly's assistant like shows her some branding ideas for
- 24:11Speaker 2: Mingle all the Way. And he's like, and then we
- 24:14Speaker 2: can change it up seasonally. I'm like, what, No, if
- 24:18Speaker 2: you have a brand, you're not changing it seasonally. Like,
- 24:22Speaker 2: the brand image is what you want people to remember,
- 24:25Speaker 2: so you're not gonna throw Easter eggs on it at
- 24:27Speaker 2: Easter time when professionals need other dates? Do you know
- 24:32Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yes?
- 24:33Speaker 2: And this is what really gets me is like the
- 24:36Speaker 2: app is called Mingle all the Way, which is kind well,
- 24:39Speaker 2: it is an obvious from Jingle All the Way, which
- 24:43Speaker 2: is a Christmas song. Yes, so then you believe that
- 24:47Speaker 2: the app is used like during the Christmas season. But
- 24:50Speaker 2: then like, who's gonna invest in that an app that
- 24:54Speaker 2: is only used like one part of the year, two
- 24:57Speaker 2: months out of the year. You know what I mean?
- 24:59Speaker 1: Yes, this is an app name that works well for
- 25:02Speaker 1: a Christmas movie title, but not well for an app
- 25:05Speaker 1: that you want to be relatable in February exactly.
- 25:09Speaker 2: So there you have it.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Stupid, What did you rate this movie?
- 25:16Speaker 2: I gave it one and a half stars. Oh, I
- 25:18Speaker 2: gave it too.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Has some weird nostalgia for me, even though I was
- 25:21Speaker 1: mad at it the entire time I was watching it.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Well, in twenty eighteen. I mean, life was different in
- 25:27Speaker 2: twenty eighteen, so maybe you were just you know.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I was not watching it with my critical girls gone Hallmark,
- 25:34Speaker 1: I I will tell you that much, right. But I
- 25:36Speaker 1: was watching this on my iPad in bed and my
- 25:38Speaker 1: husband looks over and he's like, are you watching a
- 25:40Speaker 1: Christmas movie without me? I'm like, don't worry. You've seen
- 25:43Speaker 1: this one. You are not missing anything.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Well I looked on IMDb and this
- 25:48Speaker 2: movie got six point nine out of ten. And it's
- 25:51Speaker 2: kind of nice to look at IMD reviews that are
- 25:53Speaker 2: a couple years older because there's, you know, if it's
- 25:57Speaker 2: a current movie, people are still adding their reviews to it,
- 26:00Speaker 2: so that number changes a lot over the course of
- 26:03Speaker 2: like two weeks. But this movie has been two plus years,
- 26:07Speaker 2: so yeah, six point nine.
- 26:10Speaker 1: We started with this movie because I felt like we
- 26:13Speaker 1: needed to start on a low point. I feel like
- 26:14Speaker 1: things are only going to go up from here. We
- 26:16Speaker 1: are also talking about A Shoe Attics Christmas and A
- 26:19Speaker 1: Christmas Waltz, so make sure to come back for those movies,
- 26:22Speaker 1: and later this week we will also have our review
- 26:24Speaker 1: of the new movie A Christmas House two Thank you
- 26:28Speaker 1: so much for being listeners of the podcast. If you
- 26:31Speaker 1: have a second, hop on over to Megan and Wendy
