- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: has nothing to do with money, is everything to do with money.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: It will say 10 million dollars.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: What did you buy for $1.1 million?
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: Pay cash for it.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm setting my kids up to be in the rich.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: First off, give me a number.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to say a number on a podcast.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: As a woman, I am never going to mention finances to a man.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: So even if you're like seriously dating and getting to you're getting married.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to get married.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: A man's going to take care of me.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: That was the dream.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: Linda, it changed.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: My parents got divorced and I realized,
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: American Dream includes popularity.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think everyone desires to be popular.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: If you have money and nobody knows who you are, you ain't lit.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone just don't want to be in the live life.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: What is the American Dream?
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: The American Dream was popularized by man named James Adam in 1931.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: The whole idea was coming to America, which is the land of the free.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: Now, by 1776, it was more about freedom and opportunity.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: This is the land of the free.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: So the American Dream was getting to America.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: to be free.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, by the 1930s, it wasn't about me being free.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: It was about us as a people being free.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: Removing to the 1950s and 60s, it becomes about the house and the car getting a stable job and making sure you can take care of your family.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: Remember, house, car, great family,
- 1:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the American dream looks a lot different today, and I want you all to answer this for me.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_02]: What is the American dream?
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: Some people would say, well, my American dream is to leave America, although that is a viable option.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: But today we're going to talk about what it takes to live.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_02]: The dream that you want to live, regardless of what country you're living in, and we got our guests back on financial Fridays, Charles and Joy, Joy, what's up?
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: How you doing?
- 2:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm incredible, how are you?
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Amazing.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: What qualifies that statement?
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm alive, my son is amazing, I have new opportunities.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: Live in American Dream?
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Live in American Dream?
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: Come on, let's go!
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: Charles Known and what up?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go!
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: You, my friend, are living in American Dream, yes?
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: Through God's grace, yes.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Will you hear American Dream?
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think that means?
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: financial freedom.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: Today, to me, it's no longer just a house, two kids, a car and a dog.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: But we've learned that that's not enough anymore.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: Why do you?
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: Why do you think that's not enough?
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: Think about, think about this for a second y'all.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: You have a place to live.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: And you got enough income, a job that allows you to pay for the place that you live.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you have a two parent household meeting as you and a spouse, you've got some kids, and the job that you have is enough to make sure that they can have food in their mouth every single night.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: They have clothes on their back shoes on their feet.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe a vacation once a year, right?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: Why isn't that an American dream, especially when there are people in third world countries, which still have that American dream?
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that not enough for us?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we may have been exposed to more.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: So people are now seeing another way of living.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: So before social media, I may not see how other people are vacationing or how mainstream.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, take it, but now I'm seeing that.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the appetite for just being OK with
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: having a house and going on the annual vacation and just living normal has changed.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: With nothing is wrong with that, I just think people's expectations have changed.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: What do you say, Charles?
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like when I see other people having things, I feel like I'm entitled to that too.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I can have it too.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: So living in an an a cold weather climate in New York, I started to hear this term snow snow.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's snow bunny.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: Snowbirds.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: Snowbirds.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, sorry.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: We did a boomer so it was no burn, so burn, so burn, so burn, I got my snow terms mixed up.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I just got exposed, literally, in the last like four years, I didn't know Florida was hot all year round and I just got exposed to it so people in my circle told me like dude, we don't have to live in this cold weather climbing, we don't have to shovel snow.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: We can actually leave and have a second home.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Other cultures have been having second homes, vacation homes for years.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: So we've gotten exposed to so much more, and we've gotten exposed to some financial practices that have proven valuable through the test of time.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: We were thinking, in our culture, finally get that house, finally get that car, and it's just a fence to keep the kids safe and everything.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: but we're finding out other cultures are starting to prepare their kids for so that they could have the American dream businesses were being passed down we learned about life insurance and how that is one of the pillars of wealth so so we have to add that to the American dream right because we know other cultures
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: are preparing their kids to we have a life insurance to the American dream yeah of course well American dream can no longer stop at just a house in a car it doesn't that that's not enough we we live in a competitive world we live in a competitive society
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: If other cultures when they die are making their kids instant millionaires through life insurance, we understand for our kids to be competitive and to survive in the next generation, our kids need those life insurance policies too.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: You agree?
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: live insurance necessary come on join okay come on joy but in terms of the so let's let's start to define what the American dream is for both of you and do you have an American dream do you would you move somewhere else living in other countries I would so you live why not I like America I love
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, no desire to do that and absolutely none.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: Charles?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: No desire to live anywhere else either.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Just America.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: I like America has made me an afforded me opportunities that I don't believe I can get anywhere else.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, without strong political ties, favors, and like doing some things that you may not become for the bulldoin.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: Who's your bulldoin for, Charles?
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just, I don't, I don't, I don't share, I don't do this, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: What policies has he's done?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's help American.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't think that is the help America, but it is mine.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's the most American person in the world.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think maybe his intention is to make America better for him and his friends.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: Not necessarily everybody, but I think he came out with what is that?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_02]: something somebody posted on Instagram where if you invest this amount of money and it's fun, it turns into a million dollars somewhere later.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: Y'all seen it?
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: I saw it.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: You saw it?
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I do believe he's very, very American, but I think possibly skews to his American, like white American.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: which is different than when we came over to this country.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think that American Dream was, I got a house, I got a family, I got a bunch of slaves.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: This is the American Dream.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: But now we are rising up as,
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: as, you know, all cultures, black, Asian, everybody can come here and have the dream.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I think for the audience, I think it's important for them to identify their own dream.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to ask you, obviously, it's to live in America, Charles.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: What does it look like to have the perfect life in your world of the American dream?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: So for me, I'm very family oriented.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: So it's for me to have enough money and a high yield savings account to pay for my living expenses, which will include living comfortably, some travel, and allow me time freedom.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: So time freedom is my American dream to be able to spend with my family.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: How much is that?
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: the number, how much needs to be in a high-healed savings account to pay for your life?
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to share that with you.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: However, just do it.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not asking you how much you have, I'm just saying, yeah, yeah.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: Y'all been laughing at me.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't want to say.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: Y'all have laughed at me enough to where I'm like, I'm now going into a small show.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: You worked really hard.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: you are really hard to afford a lifestyle for yourself and I don't believe you need to apologize for any of it because you're the only person that can live your life, right?
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: So just from it will have different opinions, but I want to know for you what is the ideal situation?
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: I got my ideal situation.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll break it down in simple terms.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just say a million dollars in a high-year interest savings at three point five percent is going to get you How much is that Dave about it right now?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: How much is a million 10% 100,000 in a three point five is 35,000 dollars a year, right?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: Is that right?
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be better find out.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'll type that fast
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I never to remember what was that?
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: Mavis Beacon will type me 35,000.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, 35,000 annual interest before taxes.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, divide that by 12.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: What do we have?
- 11:02[SPEAKER_02]: Divide it by 12?
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: 12 times a quarter.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, 35,000.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: I just like figuring it out.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: So this is really good for our audience to watch because now everybody can calculate their number where they could figure out how to retire and live comfortably.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: So if $3,000 is enough for you to live comfortably, you only need a million dollars in a high-year interest savings account.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: If it's $6,000, you need $2 million.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: If it's $9,000 to live comfortably,
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: America you guys need three million dollars in a high-year interest savings account but we're not talking about living comfortably, Charles.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: What are we talking about?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: You're dream and nobody dreams the giant comfortable.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, so for me, like the American dream is not a, it's a lifestyle, it's not a lifestyle.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: But to have the lifestyle, okay, it takes a dollar a mile.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we'll say $10 million.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: $10 million.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: So $30,000 a mile.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: $30,000 a month without having to do anything.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: without having to do anything.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: And what would you do with that lifestyle?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: Just a Ford's travel.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it really would just allow time freedom for me and my wife not to have to do anything.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: Which will allow for us to spend more time with kids, spend more time with the elder people and our family as they get older.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: We get to just be there for them and just spend quality.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's all about just family for me.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's all it is.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a guy that
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: I get extremely happy being in my living room, the kids there, her mother, father, sisters, and brothers.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's the ultimate for me.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm at my highest point of happiness with my entire family, her entire family, and one room.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_02]: Has nothing to do with money.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: And I was everything to do with money.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that numbers are low modest, the little $30,000.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm honest with you, that that covers the New York home and the Miami home.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I lived that free.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: They paid off.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: New York's, the Brooklyn home is actually in Brooklyn, which is New York City, taxes are fairly low.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: The house in Brooklyn is paid off.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: The HOA fees only $1,100 a month.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: I have another house in Westchester County.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's paid off.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: The HOA, he went it up.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Nah, the watch doesn't.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: Nah, it's where the kids grow.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's where the kids grow.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: It was so disgusting.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, that's home too.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: So they go there, like when my son comes home from school, he's either gonna go to Miami or he's gonna go there.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: The other one loves Brooklyn.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: We, uh, nah, I want,
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: 30's not a forging you to stuff you want to do that paid off.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't matter.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: I have no experience that's hard to pay it off.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: 30 doesn't do it.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: I could not.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: I wear the same clothes too.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: Literally.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: You do everything.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: No, so this is a different texture of blue by the way.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's a different fabric this week, Joy.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: However, I don't have, I don't live an expensive lifestyle.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: I bust my chops and everything just to create wealth for my kids.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: Because I know that next generation is going to be competitive, they are preparing their kids with life insurance policies, business, high-level education.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: The next 10 years like the job, we don't know if the job market is going to even exist.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: So we have to do everything we can to prepare our kids to be able to compete because I believe there's only going to be two classes.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: Rich and poor.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm setting my kids up to be in the rich.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: I know you set and do so up to be rich, and I know you set your kids up to be.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: If they had to be in a class, we're setting our kids up to be in that class.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: Joy, describe this American dream.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: What does it take first off?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: Give me a number.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: What does it take you bringing in to live the Joy's version of the American dream?
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to say a number.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to say a number for a lot of reasons.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, if I say a number, it may run a guy off because I'm a girl, it's even for a guy, a girl's different, right?
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't want to say anything.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what time time?
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean is different for a guy?
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: because a lot of women, you may date a woman that doesn't make any, well, you're a married, but if you were single, you could date a woman that's not working, where if I say a number, a guy that may be a pseudo-regoo, well, that's a number, that's too much for me.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't want to say a number.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: But remember, Joy from previous episodes, going forward, we are all putting the money in the same pot, right?
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: No?
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, Dave, did something change?
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: What's your name?
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: I thought we agreed.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: Best practices for couples going forward is to put the money in one pot.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: Bro, I don't even be right there.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't agree to it, you said it, you said it, you said it, you said it, you said it, you said it, and then you were so bewildered by it, because it was like, what?
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: I say it, y'all laugh, but doesn't mean y'all agree.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't understand.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm just saying, I enjoy saying because the number, but here's the thing though, if you want to live the dream, then part of that is a man that can keep up with that, right?
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: a man isn't necessarily have to keep up with it.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like I can have my dream and then he can just ask to whatever part he's adding to.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: Or he can come into where he's at right now and y'all could build this dream together.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: We can build it together with separate accounts.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: So you put in what you put in what you put in.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: But you have your dream of your own account.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: What does that look like?
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: That looks like never worrying about money.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: So what is that number look like?
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to say a number on a podcast is going to be a number that makes me be able to sleep well at night knowing that if the world shut down, I could still provide for me and my son.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: That doesn't mean you and that right now and so my little come like get it from you, but it just says what your desire is.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: As a woman, I am never going to mention finances to him.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't he doesn't need to know what I got going on period never ever even if you I'm not asking what you got going on.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even want to say what I'm expecting.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever he's bring to the table if I'm cool with that if I've got to add an extra chair I add an extra chair, but whatever it is, it is.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying anything.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: Not you.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: Not me.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: You're right.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: What does what does a dream look like for you think the average woman?
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: What's a good number coming in to live the life that they want to
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever is I think you should have at least a minimum of a year saved up to be able to live comfortably.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: So if something were to happen you don't have you have enough time to pivot into something else without losing everything that you have.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: But that's not a dream.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: A dream is it enough to live comfortably.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's so violent.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: A dream is my dream.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so I'll give you all okay.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_02]: My monthly expenses, my personal monthly expenses are somewhere around 20, for some reason, and I don't even understand it really.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Good mouth.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: My house isn't paid up.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: My mortgage is like,
- 19:08[SPEAKER_02]: twenty three hundred dollars twenty two hundred dollars.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_02]: I did pay out my car all like we're about to get another car, but anyway, for my personal life is right around twenty, right?
- 19:20[SPEAKER_02]: Um, because my kids are all kind of stuff and there we got like insurers and we got all this stuff going on.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I've been thinking to myself lately.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: I am going to continue to acquire real estate, because I'm starting to think to myself, if I can get property in net $1,000 a month, I need 20 properties where I can net $1,000 a month, and that income will be able to take care of my lifestyle, and then whatever comes in is extra.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: Is extra.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: I create content, I do a podcast, some it, I sell products, coaching, communities, all that kind of stuff, it's all extra.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: But this is my latest dream, my latest dream, being able to have that come in regardless and I could literally just go away and do nothing, but it won't even matter, because everything's taken care of.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: But that's not necessarily just that number alone isn't the dream.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_02]: But part of my dream is having something to take care of my life expenses where I can just go do it over I want.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: So, I like your 30 number.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: And just so you know, that thought process drove me to buy that 16 unit that I just bought.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: It was that exactly.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, all right, this unit can pay for this.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: This unit I'll use to pay for this.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: This unit I'll use to pay for that.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: What is, what did you buy for?
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: $1.1 million.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: And what's the, I pay cash for it?
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: There, it was the thought process hurt, but that is, not as late.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: When you, when think about it like this, when you're thinking about your kids and passing that building down and your, and our counterparts are setting their kids up the same way.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't that hard of a decision to do.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: What does it produce?
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: $16,000 a month.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: $1,000.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, $1,000 in Birmingham, two bedroom rent for $1,000.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: So $1,000 a month and $16,000 a month.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: With Texas, $4,800 a month.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: And the insurance is like $6,000.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, 48 foot a year for a year.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: So about $10,000.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: So about $8,000 out of the $6,000.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, oh, 10,000, I'm sorry, $860.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: It produces $16,000 a month, which is $192,000 a year.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: And the taxes are $4800, so let's just say $400 a month.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: And the insurance, I believe, was like $5,200, but let's say $500.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so you're netting, that's a lot, that's good.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: Can I just share a quick hack?
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: This is something new to apartment buildings because this is my second apartment building, but this is the first one I actually got to be able to run out.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: The other was just vacant.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a quick hack.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if people know when you rent an apartment built, when you rent an apartment that already comes with cable,
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: And you charge for a cable, like let's just say, and some apartments don't come with cable.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean?
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: So the cables are already installed.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: So I put cable and all the units.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: The cable companies only charge me $25 per unit, but my management company is actually charging $50 for a cable.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: So another line item.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I love sharing things that
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: wealthy people do that we don't even know about.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm making money off of the deal that I did with the cable provider.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: God, that's fine.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: So if you ever want an apartment building on put cable and they'll give you a super discount you can charge your tenants.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: That's just, yeah, that really just opened my eyes to something and maybe I've been thinking about it too small, my girl, let me just get these property.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I got like three in Louisiana and I got a bunch of stuff with my sister, Teraca where we put money in and I get the dividends in the quarter.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: So that's a part of the wealth accumulation, but I think people need to start looking at it like this where all of your income isn't earned income.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: so as a as a woman I think is maybe especially challenging because especially if you're not like involved that's a that's a that's hard right like to be high income and try to date men the may not be high income does not that many high income men that are available is that right
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: um that's right so there's not a lot of men that are high income but high income doesn't all isn't always mean he's the right man so for sure then low income challenging low low income low income we don't we can't we can't go in the medium we can't go mid
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I want you to talk to me.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: So if you already have, if I'm not looking for money, I'm looking for something else, right?
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking for character integrity.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: Can you cheat me like a princess?
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: Can I literally just turn my mind off with you and I have confidence that you can just handle everything?
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not looking for the money, I'm looking for other stuff.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: Here's my question, can you talk about the dream with this person if maybe you're earning higher than that person?
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: Can you still talk about financial, like levels without making them feel insecure?
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, for example, let's look at Rihanna and Asap Rocking.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: There is a huge disproportionate of what they make.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's not broke.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: She happens to just be way up here, right?
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: So they can still align with their both entrepreneurs.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: They both have multiple businesses.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: You can still align with someone.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: but the amount that she's bringing in versus what he's bringing in is drastically different.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: What if you're married and what if your wife becomes this internet sensation?
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: And now she's making 15 times more than you.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: Now she's making more money.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: Do you, does that, does that lower your manhood?
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: Well, not for me, not for ASAP.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: But some men will have an issue.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't have a problem dating someone that makes less money.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: The thing is long as he doesn't have a problem with me making more money.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: He says it's an even kill.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: Got it.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: So you got to find that person when you are growing up and you're smaller.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: Or not smaller, but like when you're maybe teens early, like just at a college area, what did you think that dream looked like?
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: I was telling you different.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: I was looking for I was going to school for my MRS degree.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to get married.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: A man's going to take care of me.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: How my dad took care of my mom.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: And now I'm just going to Twitter my thumbs and be a mom.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that was the dream.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: That was the dream.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: That was the dream.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, uh, when did it change?
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: And my parents got divorced and I realized, oh, I mean, isn't a plan.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_00]: Wait a minute, I got to have to get good grades.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_00]: I got to have to have to become something, shoot.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: So my junior year in college, I had to actually scrounge up, or what am I doing?
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: Cause I was just painting my nails to match my feet and walking around looking cute in, had it now, but suddenly become something what else is a life shaker?
- 26:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I saw my mom's life change and now she's having to go back to work.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: work, and she had to go get her roommate, and I'm just like, wait, I mean, I don't ever want a man to be able to just change my life like this, and she, if they were to rebuild and bring it all back, but I saw the shift.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: So then now I've got to now go become something that can make them out of money.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: I need to have to keep the life I want.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_00]: And so that just changed everything for me.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: Dang.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: It seems like you would hold on to the dream though at some point, like just because you see it doesn't work out, but that's still maybe the desire.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_02]: You feel me like, I know the women that that's the desire.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I maybe don't want to go out and hustle, I don't want to grind.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_02]: And I know a lot of not a lot.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: I know some women where their desire isn't to go out and be this boss and go build because from kids, even the news and the media and all that kind of stuff, painted the picture of the woman to be some man's wife, some rich man's wife, right?
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: You play with the dolls.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_02]: You got the house, you got kin, Barbie has to have kin and kin is the provider and a protector and Barbie used to be cute right but I think that was that that's been broken for a while correct now so what do you teach young women coming out where you know that's their dream?
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: let them know that they need to alter that dream.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: So you can be the Pilate Princess as long as you have a skill set in case Ken dies, in case Ken gets sick, or in case Ken finds him another Barbie.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: that you will still be able to be okay.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: If you're relying on a man, you're giving all of your control to one person.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: And it depends on what kind of character integrity he has.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I think with social media, a lot of women are voicing up, especially these stay at home, mom.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_00]: The man wants the woman to stay at home and take care of the kids, but then when things don't work out,
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: and it's time for a divorce, then it's all of a sudden this is my money.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: And women are speaking up, or they are control, I can only spend what he gives me.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_00]: I may want to have more.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think whether it's a man or a, I don't think one source of income should be the plan.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think a woman should be able to have something else.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: Just in case you were to get sick.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_00]: Would it be great if your wife was telling Mary Kay or had something else I could just cover them more and it might forget he runs off with another Barbie, what have you got sick?
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: Could she still hold down the family and not have to drain your savings in the Bible?
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: The Proverbs 31 woman was working, she was building wealth.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: And as Charles, as the example, there's two people contributing, it helps all that go a little faster.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I think every woman should be able to have a skill set, a trade, a degree, some way of earning her own or earning more for the family, just to have accumulating so if something were to happen or an opportunity comes, don't worry about it, baby, I got you right here.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's what that teamwork is.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: I love that sauce.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I have such a huge level of appreciation for joy and what she teaches.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: She's teaching women to like be empowered, right?
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can have your own corporation.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was 1969 where women were first allowed to take out mortgages or to take out on loans, right?
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: Was it in 1969?
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: I believe 69.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: And Joyce mission is really, a lot of permission is women empowerment, which I love.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: And where I think that will help our culture, I think women command so much more respect when they're able to self sustain and stand on their own too.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: If we had more couples that had more respect for each other, stay together longer, and we were able to combine that household income, the African-American will have way more power if instead of us, how we are so broken and just having one household income, if we were to start marrying again, and maybe some couples were to start to stay together or rekindle and get back.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think as a culture, as a community, the African-American people can surpass a lot of other cultures.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: That means 1974.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_02]: 74.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: God.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: Lee.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily, though.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to tell you.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I was off my five years, but not bad.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: So Dave, when you think about that 1974 and what joy is teaching people now in the social economic climate that we're in today, where you don't have to ask permission to be successful.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to depend on a man or ask a man to sign off on a mortgage for it.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: You can go get your own mortgage.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: a corporation, women can open a corporation.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: How many days does it take?
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: How fast can you open a corporation?
- 32:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm thinking on the state government same day.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: Same day, day and day.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: Right, day, let's think now.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to ask permission.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: you can actually, let's even authors.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: So remember to be an author and congrats on your book.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: Can I buy a copy?
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: But Dave, think about this.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: To be an author, let's just say 10, 15 years ago, you had to go through a publishing company.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: Right, you had to be that good of a writer and have someone publish and distribute your book.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_01]: Now women don't have to ask for permission.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: You can just do your book, right?
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: And you can put your book out.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: The music industry, too, is so empowering because now you don't have to go through a record label.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to sell your soul and get a deal to put your music out.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: So we're in the age of where we can just do things and I love that you teach women to empower themselves and stand on their own to a feet.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this is crazy.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: Before 1974, women could legally obtain loans and credit, but banks could discriminate against them in ways that would be illegal today, meaning it wasn't a law that you couldn't.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_02]: But banks could discriminate against women and I guess women weren't trusted to be able to pay back alone So women essentially couldn't get a lot that is good.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's not that long That's 10 years before I was born.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is it's so recent correct.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh This brings me to another point because I think the American dream has changed
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's not only financial, living well, to pair household couples, kids, even income.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: There's something else that's being introduced and that's popularity.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: The American dream includes popularity.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: The American disagree.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: I agree and I feel like motion is a currency.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: motion, popularity, being hot, is its own currency.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: There are, in fact, other currencies now, right?
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: We have crypto currency.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: Their social media, popularity, your followers, your subscribers, it's a currency.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_01]: It can open doors for you just as good as money can.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I believe that the well-rounded individual does acknowledge popularity into that, including acknowledgment, right?
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: Because we all want to be rewarded for what we do.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, acknowledgment and popularity is, unfortunately, we have to come to terms.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's a part of that American dream.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think everyone desires to be popular.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot, I think some people do desire to be popular about things everyone desires to be popular.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, just like in the 70s or 80s, not everyone desire to have a home and dog and kids make good money and have the whole family structure, but large majority, this is a picture of the dream.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: So, and even for us three, it's very difficult for us to even defend it to be like, well, we don't really need like the plons of the people,
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: I know it feels good to be walking to the airport.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: Enjoy.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_02]: I went to a book.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: You don't need so much.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: I watch a concert.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: This is a part of it.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: Which is why I believe it seems like billionaires used to be like just had they billions.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: But now billionaires are coming out and they're talking and they're on podcast, Oprah.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: is 100% fine being Oprah financially.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_02]: But she even popped it out.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: Oprah just popped it out.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: Jay Z, what are you doing to the interviews?
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: Or I mean it's popular is obvious one front row seats at the games like a New York It's like they are celebrities are fighting and paying the highest dollar for those seats Not and but it's not even only celebrities You got people that are unknown but they go to the game and now they're known because they got the front row seat and America is trending who's the girl with the pink boots and the such and such right and like she's she wants it
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: Are you saying that you don't think popular areas of part of the American dream?
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I'm saying that everyone doesn't want to be in the line line.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like there are some people that do want to be in the line line and there's other people who don't want like I don't want anyone knowing what I have going on and boss about so I I would disagree that the American dream includes popularity.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: large majority.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: You don't think large majority wants a thing about all the people that are on social media.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: You're looking at people who are wanting influence.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_00]: There's a whole lot of other people who are making money and don't want anyone else knowing what they have going on.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone does not want to be in the limelight because there's so much other stuff that comes with being in the limelight.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a certain itch now though.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: I
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I completely understand what you're saying and that's why I use the term acknowledgement.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: They made that, it may not, that popularity, currency may not be social media, but in their world where they are, which may not be open to millions, if they're in a world of 10 people, they wanna be acknowledged in that foundation, they wanna be acknowledged as the anthropologists of the year.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: They wanna be acknowledged.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I like these things.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: Don't think the people that are donating millions of dollars
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: don't want their name somewhere right?
- 38:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: 73% of Americans, 73% of Americans, have an active social media presence.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: Are they active because they just want entertainment or, and if that was the case, if that was the case, a large majority of these people would have private accounts.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: When I met my wife, she had a private social media account.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: So for a person like that, I could say, well, she's never been on that.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: However, thank you.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think that a very large majority of people, including
- 38:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll put it this way.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: When the kids were kids in the 60s and 70s and they're pushing this American dream, right?
- 38:58[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think that the kids were saying, yeah, I want to live that.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: I want to have a house in dog and this is what success will look like for me.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_02]: They want to be successful, right?
- 39:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, we both agree with that.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, of course.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, okay.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: If you go to the schools now and you ask them what they want to be when they grow up,
- 39:20[SPEAKER_02]: or a teacher, or your lawyer, they want to be streamers and influencers, to being raised like this is what success looks like, because if you have money and nobody knows who you are, you ain't lit.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: Which is unfortunate right and I can't even argue to fact that I don't like it myself.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: I can't argue that.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, could I could I in my own mind once I get to that point of the big dream, where I don't have to do anything, will I not be on social media?
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: I can't guarantee that because I know
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: I like when I can impact someone.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that is a part of the large majority American dream, money status is both.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: You'll agree to that.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_00]: I like the status part.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure, status.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: Publicity.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_02]: Lettingness.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: Lettingness is for most people.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's just as valuable as having the money in our bank account for a lot of people.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I will say my kids think I'm cool.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: They do, because, I mean, and I probably have the least following, right, only 120,000, I believe.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: Um, they think I'm cool because they get to see me do cool things online.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: They get to see people think me for doing cool things online.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: They appear to say, hey, your dad is pretty cool.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know he owns, you know, he does real estate or impacts people and things like that.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: not as cool to them, but it does, it does bring home.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: So let's just say, for example, I finished the conference.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: The younger one went with me and he had a segment in the conference.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's like that.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: We killed it today.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, man, like, I had him lined up.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I had a set each person down.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, what was you doing over there with all them people?
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: Why'd you make a wait?
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: He said, not that.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to sit him down one by one and just teach him how to trade.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_01]: I said, put you in a way, he's like, yeah, I did, but I taught him.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: And the older one, he was like, yo, yo, I look lit.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's the younger one dancing on stage that he was like, yeah, he was like, I did y'all think that was dope.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, did my son hate it?
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_00]: He will not get on TikTok.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: He does not want to be in the line right now.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's just not time yet.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know, how does he?
- 41:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's 13.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, yeah, it's like an older and he realized that the girls liked them boys about it Yeah, so think about it.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to add both the honest question.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: Why do we post on social media to make money?
- 42:12[SPEAKER_00]: to make money, to help educate, to inspire, and to make an impact.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_00]: Because if people don't know what to do, how to do it, see you overcome something, then they won't be able to also grow.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, that's the major driver for you.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_02]: You like the impact.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, why do you close?
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: I love posting, because it shows people was possible.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: For me, it's all about showing people was possible.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: When I was younger, like social media changed my life, it wasn't looking at social media made me rich.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: My practices and discipline made me wealthy.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I like showing people that they could buy land for 500 bucks.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: I like helping people get that first piece of property.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: Most of my social media is b-roll with me showing just land and maybe a clip of an auction saying that these these pieces are lander on sale at the Sagan All County land bank for $300.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: So it's really impact for me and it's it's almost like paying back because I saw people who were doing a similar business that I was doing and they were showing me different levels of that business and I learned it from social media.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm, last question, as it comes to our kids, when they ask how to create the dream lifestyle that I want to create, what are the steps to create that, and I don't want you to go first, what are the steps to create this dream lifestyle, American Dream?
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, you have to be able to create, so produce something, create a business, create an idea, create something that can make you money.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_00]: Because money's going from the drain.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_00]: The drain maintenance is going to come out the sky and you need money.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_00]: Number two, I think you need to be able to have a plan for when the money comes, where is it going, how are you holding onto it,
- 44:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then how do you handle all the other stuff that comes with the money?
- 44:22[SPEAKER_00]: So now people are asking for things, you're now a target.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_00]: So how are we structuring the power we protecting that?
- 44:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I would say understanding that the sky is the limit.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want my child thinking that there is a cap like you can go for whatever your little mind thinks that.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_00]: So think as big as possible.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: I love it, Charles, I thought to me, how do I create the American dream for me?
- 44:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you're studying daddy.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: I have dreams.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: How do I create this American dream?
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, my son's a little older, 20 and 24.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_01]: I teach them and try to drill into their heads the purpose of money is to invest and make more money.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: So they're already starting to invest and they understand that when they get money, the mindset and the thought processes, how can I make this money make me more?
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: So that will allow them to create opportunities for themselves.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: It allows them to make mistakes and things like that too with money because they've created other revenue streams to make money.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: So it's really just a huge mindset shift and just like when we were younger, we were trained and taught to do certain things because we thought they were right and this day and age with the exposure that we have and that we really know how to make money.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: just pounding in their heads, like money is the purpose of money is not to pay bills, the purpose of money is to make more money for you.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: Then you could spend the off-spraying, so to speak, of that money.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: And they'll be fine, as long as we could teach our kids the power of investing, I think we've done a great job.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love that.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_02]: I would definitely say
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: like to have a picture in your head or what you want your life to look like because if you don't have a picture you'll start either borrowing other pictures or what you see and you don't know if that's going to make you happy or not.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_02]: But like I'm starting to sit down and really get clear on what I want my life to look like and how I'm going to do it.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to create content forever.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to necessarily want to be an entrepreneur forever.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_02]: I love being an entrepreneur, but I would love for my entrepreneurial endeavors to be a hobby.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: You get what I'm saying?
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: How do we do that?
- 46:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we have to have some sort of stream of income that comes in.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_02]: Whether the thing that I'm doing works or not.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: So I think it's really important that all of us need to decide what is that American dream for you.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: There's no cut and dry.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_02]: So I do want to have the money in the house, and the cars, and all that kind of stuff.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_02]: Not a big car guy, but I want to have transportation.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_02]: But a part of my American dream is that the being respected for my craft, I think everyone wants to be noticed by operating an excellence.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: I need that.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think I could be a billionaire and I just go into a corner and just live that that's not a part of the vision for me.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: But before we wrap if we are wrapping Dave, I want to just touch on that point that you said identifying your dream is the most important thing.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: So, in my life, I identified what a good woman was to me, and once I got that, I was content.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: Is she like the prettiest woman in America?
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: No, does she have the best body in America?
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: No, does she make them?
- 48:16[SPEAKER_01]: No, but she checks enough boxes to be a good woman for me, which makes it a perfect match for me.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't know what that dream is, if it's not like a house here, you know, a family, a nice business, it like, like it doesn't have to be extravagant to make you happy.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: But I think as long as we identify what that dream life is, like it's attainable, and then we don't have to chase other dreams.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: But if it's not identified, you're right.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: They could get something that is a high level of accomplishment and still not feels self fulfilled or satisfied and still be chasing, that's why we see some rich people unhappy.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, how could this person do that with all that money?
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: Or if I had that money, I wouldn't,
- 49:05[SPEAKER_01]: Because they're not they're not satisfied with they are.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure anything to close out with joy I think I Think having a purpose So it doesn't I don't think it's necessarily a dollar amount I think when you're walking in your purpose the money comes So like for me being able to help women or people who are starting over you had a bankruptcy We don't get
- 49:29[SPEAKER_00]: back up.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to do it again.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_00]: No, like one monkey don't stop the show.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like when you're when you're operating in your purpose, it doesn't feel like work and the money comes.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like you love podcasts.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_00]: You can be on here all day and just talk about it because this is the impact that you're working for.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_00]: So once we understand, don't chase the car, don't chase the trip.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: Chase what what your God given purpose is, all that stuff is going to come.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_02]: I wish people were able to receive it because it's like you don't typically you don't say that until you get something.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: So some I told you that like before you had some money people like don't chase the money you like
- 50:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I got to go chase the money, but we're trying to give you like, we're joy is like trying to give you as some like insight because you'll end up like you said chasing a money and even if you get the money, it may not be what you really want.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_02]: Correct.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_02]: So that purpose is super important.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I know how people look at it and it's like, it's the truth.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody has locked up in jail, they're telling the kids, bro, you ain't got to like carry guns and be against it like it's not cool But it's cool right now because people respect me and thought it out and you get locked up and it's the same person to say Hey, y'all, you don't be in a gang But until you you don't see it.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, oh, bro, I've been where you you have in the best financial year and then it's like, oh, is this
- 51:01[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I don't feel like it's supposed to.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I say all the time, the best things in life are free.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a money thing.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_01]: You can live in your purpose, help people all day and feel completely fulfilled, completely fulfilled and happy and we've all taught, close our computer and we're all like a super high, like, oh, that was a good one.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_01]: Oh I hope this person, right?
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's that fulfillment.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's not money.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_01]: Money is a tool, but it's fulfillment and purpose of course is huge.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: True indeed.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_02]: Family, what I like you to do in the comments is to do your very best, do your very, very best to try to describe your American dream.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: And if you can't put it into words, I want you to try at least because that allows you to see what you want.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_02]: And if you can see what you want, you can start to strategize on how to get what you want.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_02]: But I want you to at least consider spending some time and being clear on identifying what that American dream is for you.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 52:07[SPEAKER_02]: Thank y'all so much to the guests that pulled up.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_02]: Joy, please let everybody know how they can get in touch with you, how they can, I have a closer relationship with you, and then leave us out with the word I was to.

- 53:32[SPEAKER_02]: We out.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_02]: Peace.
