- C0674: HR wants a screenshot of your Glassdoor review, and you haven't written one, and you're not sure you want to. Well, my name is Sean and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. If you're not familiar with Glassdoor, it is an online job seeker platform that allows former and current employees to anonymously rate and review their employers. So here's how it started. The company's ratings dropped on Glassdoor, so HR sent an email asking employees to leave reviews. you ignored it. Then this morning your manager says HR wants confirmation from every department, and everyone needs to send a screenshot once their review is posted. Now someone asked if it had to be positive, and the answer was, Well, obviously we're hoping employees represent the company fairly. They they keep calling it voluntary, but they're also keeping track of who's done it. And you decided you're not putting your name On a fake five-star review, just so the recruiting numbers look better. The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 4 25. Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. Now think about who actually reads those reviews. It's someone deciding whether to Leave their current job and come to work here and move their families, maybe even for this job. So somebody getting out of a bad situation and maybe hoping that the next one is better, that's your neighbor. And they're trusting what they read was written honestly. And that's what makes this more than just an office annoyance. A review is supposed to tell the truth to a stranger who's counting on it. Now notice the word your manager used there fairly. Take him at his word. Fair doesn't mean glowing. It doesn't mean only the bad stuff either. If there are things you honestly appreciate about this place, you can say those. And if there are real problems, you can also name those without being cruel. I mean a fair review might do the company more good than a fake one ever could because it tells them something true. Or you might decide not to write one at all, and that's a real option too. I mean, if it's voluntary, it's okay to say kindly and clearly, like, I've decided not to participate in this one. What you don't have to do is say something that you don't believe just because somebody's collecting screenshots. So let's pray. God, it's uncomfortable when the pressure at work pushes against our conscience, even on something that seems small. But help us remember the real people on the other side of what we say and write. Give us the courage to speak truthfully and the grace to do it without bitterness. And if we do choose to speak, let it be fair and honest. And if we choose to stay out of it, give us peace with that decision, and help us care more about being trustworthy than about looking good to the people above us. And we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. A go make today count.
