- Adam Rutz: One of the fastest ways to make any group better is to stop asking, what am I getting out of this? And start asking, what does the team need from me? Because great teammates think beyond themselves. Whether you're an athlete in a locker room, a coach leading your program, a business owner leading employees, or a parent leading your family, the principle is the same. What can I do today to make our group stronger? Sometimes that means doing something you don't necessarily want to do. It might mean having the difficult conversation. It might mean staying late to help somebody. It might mean holding a teammate accountable. It might mean accepting a role that isn't exactly the role you wanted. It might mean pushing the standard higher in practice or at work or inside your home. And sometimes being a great teammate means putting the greater good ahead of your immediate comfort. Because difficult does not automatically mean bad. A difficult conversation can create clarity. A difficult training session can create growth. A difficult decision can strengthen the culture. What feels uncomfortable today might be exactly what makes your team stronger tomorrow. Great leadership isn't always about being the person out front giving the speech. Sometimes leadership is simply asking: what does this team need from me right now? More energy? More preparation? More accountability? More encouragement? More honesty? More consistency? Then go provide it. So today, think team first. Look around at the people you compete with, work with, lead, or live with, and ask yourself, what can I do today to make us better? Then be willing to do it, even when it's uncomfortable. Because strong individuals can accomplish a lot. But strong individuals committed to something bigger than themselves can accomplish something special. Mindset. Process, discipline, execution, that's mental performance daily.
