  two-minute call from God's playbook to

  know him better so we can love and obey

  him more. Let's hear today's play from

  John 16, which says, "When he comes, he
• 0:16
  will prove the world to be in the wrong
• 0:18
  about sin and righteousness and
• 0:20
  judgment. About sin because people do
• 0:22
  not believe in me. About righteousness
• 0:25
  because I'm going to the father where he
• 0:27
  can see me no longer. and about judgment
• 0:29
  because the prince of this world now
• 0:31
  stands condemned. Men, the gospel is not
• 0:34
  advice, it's power. It's the story of
• 0:37
  God's love for this world demonstrated
• 0:39
  by God stepping into this world in Jesus
• 0:42
  Christ, living the life we could not
• 0:44
  live and offering himself as a sacrifice
• 0:47
  for our rebellion against him. And in
• 0:50
  John 16, Jesus tells us something that
• 0:52
  we should both relieve us and sober us.

  When he comes, he will approve the world
• 0:57
  to be in the wrong about sin,
• 0:59
  righteousness, and judgment. That he is
• 1:02
  the Holy Spirit. Notice what Jesus does
• 1:05
  not say. He does not say you will
• 1:08
  convict the world. He says the spirit
• 1:10
  will. The Holy Spirit convicts the world
• 1:12
  of sin. And Jesus defines that sin
• 1:15
  clearly about sin because people do not
• 1:18
  believe in me. The greatest sin is not
• 1:21
  bad behavior. It's rejecting Jesus. Many
• 1:24
  people believe they are good while
• 1:26
  denying Christ. Denying the son is
• 1:29
  denying the father. The spirit comes to
• 1:31
  expose that truth. Then Jesus says the
• 1:34
  spirit convicts the world about
• 1:36
  righteousness. Why? Because Jesus has
• 1:39
  gone to the father. His return reproves
• 1:41
  his life was perfect. His sacrifice
• 1:44
  accepted. And righteousness is found in
• 1:46
  Christ alone, not in us. And finally,
• 1:50
  the spirit convicts the world about
• 1:52
  judgment. Judgment's real, but it's
• 1:54
  already been decided. The prince of this
• 1:56
  world now stands condemned. Now, here's
• 1:59
  the freedom for every Christian man.

  We're responsible for being a faithful
• 2:03
  witness, not for how people respond. God
• 2:06
  has made commanded us to make the gospel
• 2:08
  known, the promise of pardon,
• 2:11
  restoration, and eternal life with him
• 2:13
  on a new earth where righteousness,
• 2:15
  peace, and abundance never end. But the
• 2:18
  spirit does the hard work. Our job is to
• 2:20
  speak the truth clearly, live it
• 2:22
  visibly, and trust God with the results.

  The only real failure is silence or
• 2:27
  hypocrisy that empties the gospel of its
• 2:30
  power. So run today's play, men. Tell
• 2:33
  God's story faithfully. Live in a way
• 2:35
  that makes the story believable and
• 2:37
  trust the Holy Spirit to do the work
• 2:39
  that only he can do. Faithfulness honors
• 2:42
  God. Obedience releases power. And the
• 2:45
  gospel never returns empty. If this
• 2:48
