Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein And The Attempt To Buy New York Magazine · The Epstein Chronicles

• 0:00
Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles. Jeffrey Epstein made several
• 0:05
Speaker 1: failed attempts to get his hands on different media publications
• 0:10
Speaker 1: in the 2000s. One of those targets was New York Magazine,
• 0:15
Speaker 1: and he was in an investors group with none other
• 0:19
Speaker 1: than Harvey Weinstein and Mort Zuckerman, who you might remember
• 0:23
Speaker 1: from the Alan Dershowitz and Virginia Roberts defamation suit. Dershowitz
• 0:31
Speaker 1: had Zuckerman testify in that suit. Zuckerman is another one
• 0:35
Speaker 1: of these so-called elite, you know, another money man, who
• 0:38
Speaker 1: was out here hanging out with these guys, rubbing shoulders
• 0:42
Speaker 1: with them, and involved in all kinds of business dealings. And,
• 0:46
Speaker 1: you know, I feel about all of that. If anybody
• 0:49
Speaker 1: was involved with any kind of business when it comes
• 0:52
Speaker 1: to Jeffrey Epstein, they should probably be looked at under
• 0:56
Speaker 1: a microscope as far as financial malfeasance. Because we all
• 1:00
Speaker 1: know that Epstein wasn't playing on the regulation field. Okay?
• 1:06
Speaker 1: We all know he had his own game he was playing.
• 1:09
Speaker 1: We all know he was stashing money. And we all
• 1:11
Speaker 1: know that the core of his money, the base of
• 1:15
Speaker 1: his money, was made from ill-gotten gains. So anyone who
• 1:19
Speaker 1: was enriching themselves from those ill-gotten gains, for business purposes
• 1:24
Speaker 1: or otherwise, is now part of his criminal conspiracy. Well,
• 1:28
Speaker 1: That's what would happen if his last name ended in
• 1:30
Speaker 1: a vowel anyway. But considering it doesn't, and he was
• 1:34
Speaker 1: this big, high-profile guy, eh, we're gonna give him a
• 1:38
Speaker 1: pass for decades. And all of his buddies, too. Because
• 1:43
Speaker 1: all of these people that were with him, all of
• 1:46
Speaker 1: these people involved in business deals, all of these people
• 1:49
Speaker 1: that were breaking bread at his house, you're not gonna
• 1:52
Speaker 1: convince me, now or ever, that they didn't know what
• 1:56
Speaker 1: was going on. They can say they didn't know what
• 1:58
Speaker 1: was going on, but I don't have to believe them.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: Today we have an article from the Insider talking about
• 2:06
Speaker 1: how Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, and their group made a
• 2:11
Speaker 1: failed attempt to buy the New York Magazine in the 2000s. Headline.
• 2:17
Speaker 1: Registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein were part
• 2:22
Speaker 1: of a group that had that made a failed 45
• 2:25
Speaker 1: million dollar attempt to buy New York magazine in the
• 2:29
Speaker 1: 2000s now Can you imagine what that working environment would
• 2:32
Speaker 1: have been like with Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein as
• 2:36
Speaker 1: your bosses? Talk about an open-door policy, huh two of
• 2:42
Speaker 1: the sickest scumbags going out here together working together and
• 2:46
Speaker 1: And then we all know, though, that these two had
• 2:48
Speaker 1: a falling out. Over in Paris, allegedly, there was a
• 2:53
Speaker 1: falling out over a girl that Weinstein was attempting to
• 2:58
Speaker 1: make a move on that Epstein said was his girl.
• 3:02
Speaker 1: So they got into this whole entire fight. Harvey Weinstein
• 3:05
Speaker 1: got the boot and Epstein and Weinstein were no longer friends,
• 3:09
Speaker 1: according to the story. But before that, these dudes were
• 3:14
Speaker 1: thick as thieves running deep together. And if you think
• 3:19
Speaker 1: that they weren't abusing women, I don't know what to
• 3:21
Speaker 1: tell you. Because it didn't just happen overnight with guys
• 3:24
Speaker 1: like this. They didn't just wake up one day and say, ah,
• 3:27
Speaker 1: you know what? I'm going to abuse some women. The
• 3:29
Speaker 1: fact is, there are plenty of other Harvey Weinsteins and
• 3:34
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epsteins out there. This article was authored by Taylor
• 3:40
Speaker 1: Nicole Rogers. And it was first published on July 10th
• 3:45
Speaker 1: of 2019. Jeffrey Epstein, the financier, pedophile, charged with sex trafficking,
• 3:54
Speaker 1: made his fortune managing the fortunes of billionaires. But in
• 3:57
Speaker 1: 2003 and 2004, during the same time prosecutors say he
• 4:02
Speaker 1: was paying underage girls for sex, Epstein also tried to
• 4:06
Speaker 1: establish himself as a media mogul twice. So, Now that
• 4:12
Speaker 1: we have hindsight to guide us, and we can look
• 4:15
Speaker 1: back on this with sober eyes, it's rather obvious what
• 4:19
Speaker 1: he was doing. If he would get himself a foothold
• 4:21
Speaker 1: in the world of media, like his boy Bob Maxwell,
• 4:25
Speaker 1: then he can at the very least control some of
• 4:27
Speaker 1: the narratives. And if you control the narrative, you control
• 4:31
Speaker 1: the whole story. And for a very, very long time,
• 4:35
Speaker 1: that's how it worked. You had all of these powerful
• 4:37
Speaker 1: people who were Jeffrey Epstein's friends, and they were controlling
• 4:41
Speaker 1: the narrative. making sure that nothing came at more than
• 4:45
Speaker 1: a drip, right? There was never no avalanche. There was
• 4:48
Speaker 1: never no tsunami of information until the issue was forced.
• 4:53
Speaker 1: The media was never going to do it on their own.
• 4:55
Speaker 1: They had to be coerced, basically, to do it. Epstein,
• 5:02
Speaker 1: now 66, well, you mean now dead, was part of
• 5:05
Speaker 1: a group that made an unsuccessful bid to purchase New
• 5:07
Speaker 1: York Magazine in 2003. the New York Times reported at
• 5:12
Speaker 1: the time. Former advertising executive Donnie Deutsch, investor Nelson Peltz, U.S.
• 5:18
Speaker 1: news and world reporter owner Mortimer Zuckerman, and Harvey Weinstein
• 5:23
Speaker 1: were also members of that group. Good old Donnie Deutsch, huh?
• 5:27
Speaker 1: Remember that guy's stupid TV show, his news show on
• 5:30
Speaker 1: like MSNBC or whatever? What an absolute clown that guy was.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: And it's funny because all of the pompous loudmouths who
• 5:38
Speaker 1: act like they live high and, you know, they have
• 5:41
Speaker 1: these perfect lives and you live like an animal, according
• 5:45
Speaker 1: to them, but they can hang out with Jeffrey Epstein.
• 5:48
Speaker 1: They can break bread with Epstein. They can hang out
• 5:50
Speaker 1: with Harvey Weinstein, be business partners with them, and then
• 5:54
Speaker 1: get up on their ivory tower and preach down to
• 5:57
Speaker 1: the rest of us. I've had my fill of people
• 6:00
Speaker 1: like that, I'll tell you that much. According to the
• 6:05
Speaker 1: New York Times, the group bid $ 45 million for the magazine,
• 6:09
Speaker 1: but investment banker Bruce Wasserstein outbid them by $ 10 million.
• 6:14
Speaker 1: The group, led by Zuckerman, blamed their loss on the
• 6:17
Speaker 1: rules of the auction. You know, these kind of people
• 6:20
Speaker 1: can never take an L. You got yourselves a guy
• 6:23
Speaker 1: like Weinstein or Zuckerman or Epstein. These guys just don't
• 6:29
Speaker 1: know how to take Ls. And that's why it's crucial
• 6:32
Speaker 1: as a child or as a young man or a
• 6:33
Speaker 1: young woman that you play some kind of sport so
• 6:36
Speaker 1: that you learn how to lose. And we all know
• 6:39
Speaker 1: these pocket-protecting dorks never played any sports, never any real
• 6:43
Speaker 1: sports anyway. We made it clear that we were willing
• 6:48
Speaker 1: to put more money on the table, Zuckerman told the
• 6:50
Speaker 1: New York Times in 2003, but after they had a handshake,
• 6:54
Speaker 1: they were not willing to entertain other offers. Instead of
• 6:58
Speaker 1: just saying that you lost, you lost out on the bid,
• 7:00
Speaker 1: you guys didn't want to pony up any other money,
• 7:03
Speaker 1: It has to be a backroom deal, right? And the
• 7:05
Speaker 1: funniest part about all of that is Zuckerman and Weinstein
• 7:09
Speaker 1: and Epstein, these are the guys that are the kings
• 7:11
Speaker 1: of the backroom deal. But all of a sudden, they
• 7:14
Speaker 1: get outmaneuvered and it's a big problem. New York Times
• 7:19
Speaker 1: wrote that the motives behind the bid were ego, power,
• 7:23
Speaker 1: and cachet. And that was not Epstein's only attempt to
• 7:27
Speaker 1: enter the media business. In 2004, Epstein and Zuckerman invested
• 7:33
Speaker 1: $ 25 million in pop culture-focused Radar magazine, according to the
• 7:38
Speaker 1: New York Times. And again, when we look back on
• 7:41
Speaker 1: it now, we understand why Jeffrey Epstein was doing this,
• 7:44
Speaker 1: what he was attempting to do. If you control the
• 7:47
Speaker 1: narrative of a story, chances are you're going to control
• 7:50
Speaker 1: that story. And what better way to do it than
• 7:55
Speaker 1: controlling the tabloids? We all know New York Times and
• 7:59
Speaker 1: You know, the Post and the rest of these stupid-ass
• 8:02
Speaker 1: outlets have no desire to out Jeffrey Epstein. So if
• 8:06
Speaker 1: you control the tabloids and you can keep pretty much
• 8:10
Speaker 1: an eye on what's coming out, well, you're going to
• 8:13
Speaker 1: put yourself in a better position to continue with your
• 8:16
Speaker 1: crime spree. Epstein and Zuckerman became equal partners in the company.
• 8:22
Speaker 1: Radar's founder and editor-in-chief, Meyer Roshan, kept a minority stake.
• 8:28
Speaker 1: The trio told the New York Times that they thought
• 8:31
Speaker 1: the magazine would appeal to trendy urban singles. So, Radar Magazine,
• 8:37
Speaker 1: or Radar Online I guess I should say, in recent
• 8:40
Speaker 1: years has done a pretty good job exposing Jeffrey Epstein.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: But in the old days, it was owned by Jeffrey Epstein.
• 8:47
Speaker 1: Kind of like, you know, you see the Daily News
• 8:50
Speaker 1: and Robert Maxwell. So this whole entire media thing that
• 8:55
Speaker 1: we hear about all the time and how it's controlled
• 8:57
Speaker 1: by a few people, that's not far from the truth.
• 9:00
Speaker 1: There are only a handful of people who are in
• 9:03
Speaker 1: control of all of these media outlets. And all you
• 9:06
Speaker 1: have to do is go and watch them. Just take
• 9:08
Speaker 1: a look at, like, Nextar or Gannett. I mean, there's
• 9:13
Speaker 1: a handful of them that run everything. But Jeffrey Epstein
• 9:18
Speaker 1: and Mort Zuckerman, they had a different plan here. They
• 9:21
Speaker 1: figured that if they could get their hands on, you know,
• 9:24
Speaker 1: these tabloids, then they'd really be cutting off any kind
• 9:27
Speaker 1: of narrative. I always focus on the potential downside of
• 9:32
Speaker 1: an investment, Epstein told the New York Times in 2004,
• 9:36
Speaker 1: and I don't think this is something that is going
• 9:38
Speaker 1: to lose money. Oh no, you guys are going to
• 9:41
Speaker 1: make a killing on Radar Online, Jeffrey Epstein. And as
• 9:44
Speaker 1: far as losing money, why would he even care? It's
• 9:47
Speaker 1: not his money he was losing anyway. Under their leadership,
• 9:50
Speaker 1: the celebrity news magazine went from publishing and print bimonthly
• 9:54
Speaker 1: to every month but continued to struggle. Radar stopped publishing
• 9:58
Speaker 1: a print magazine in 2008. that same year radar was
• 10:02
Speaker 1: sold to american media incorporated which still publishes an online
• 10:07
Speaker 1: edition so don't get the two confused right The new
• 10:11
Speaker 1: form of Radar Online, they've done a real good job
• 10:14
Speaker 1: exposing Jeffrey Epstein and talking about his ill deeds. But
• 10:19
Speaker 1: in the old days, this very same outlet was owned
• 10:21
Speaker 1: by Epstein and Moore Zuckerman. Epstein made most of his
• 10:27
Speaker 1: fortune as a hedge fund manager, Business Insider previously reported.
• 10:32
Speaker 1: After spending a decade at Bear Stearns, he launched his
• 10:35
Speaker 1: own investment firm that he claimed only catered to billionaires.
• 10:39
Speaker 1: L Brand CEO Les Wexner was his only confirmed client.
• 10:43
Speaker 1: So red flags right away. When you only have billionaire clients,
• 10:48
Speaker 1: nobody ever knows how much money you're investing. Nobody ever
• 10:51
Speaker 1: knows what your ROI is. There's something going on. And
• 10:54
Speaker 1: chances are you're running a Ponzi scheme like we talked
• 10:57
Speaker 1: about yesterday. Epstein was arrested on charges of sex trafficking
• 11:03
Speaker 1: in New Jersey on July 6th and pleaded not guilty
• 11:06
Speaker 1: on July 8th. Prosecutors said that from 2002 to 2005,
• 11:11
Speaker 1: Epstein lured girls as young as 14 into his homes
• 11:15
Speaker 1: and paid them for massages that became increasingly sexual in nature.
• 11:19
Speaker 1: And just the scope right there is ridiculous too as
• 11:22
Speaker 1: we look back on it. Just from 2002 and 2005,
• 11:26
Speaker 1: you couldn't have found anything else? Nothing earlier? Remember, there
• 11:29
Speaker 1: is no statute of limitations on the Mann Act. And
• 11:33
Speaker 1: if you're bringing people across state lines for the intent
• 11:37
Speaker 1: and purpose of sex trafficking them, you should be hit
• 11:40
Speaker 1: with the Mann Act. We didn't see that, did we?
• 11:44
Speaker 1: Ask yourselves, why didn't you see it? Business Insider previously
• 11:48
Speaker 1: reported that Epstein served 13 months in prison after confessing
• 11:52
Speaker 1: to felony sexual solicitation of underage girls. There's a lot
• 11:56
Speaker 1: wrong there. First of all, he wasn't in prison. He
• 11:58
Speaker 1: was in an abandoned wing of a jail stockade where
• 12:02
Speaker 1: he was allowed to leave seven days a week. And
• 12:05
Speaker 1: solicitation of underage girls? What does that even mean? In
• 12:10
Speaker 1: March 2018, Business Insider reported that New York police charged
• 12:15
Speaker 1: Weinstein with rape, criminal sex conduct, sex abuse, and sexual
• 12:19
Speaker 1: misconduct against two women following over 70 accusations of sexual misconduct. Yeah,
• 12:25
Speaker 1: I'm sure that when him and Epstein were hanging out,
• 12:28
Speaker 1: that these two lugs were on their best behavior, right?
• 12:31
Speaker 1: I mean, come on. You have these two together? Talk
• 12:34
Speaker 1: about a meeting of the gross-ass, disgusting minds. Uncle Touchy
• 12:40
Speaker 1: and Cousin Diddler over here, hanging out, having a good time,
• 12:44
Speaker 1: while everybody around them suffers. So it's a good thing
• 12:47
Speaker 1: that Epstein is dead, right? Sucks nobody didn't get to
• 12:50
Speaker 1: face justice, but... The world is a better place without
• 12:53
Speaker 1: people like that in it. There is no doubt about it.
• 12:56
Speaker 1: And Harvey Weinstein, well, this dude, he's over here suffering
• 13:00
Speaker 1: now with a mouthful of rotting teeth, begging the judge
• 13:03
Speaker 1: not to let Nurse Ratched get in there and start
• 13:06
Speaker 1: yanking him out. So Harvey Weinstein's suffering from a pretty
• 13:09
Speaker 1: bad fate right now as well, and much deserved. But
• 13:12
Speaker 1: you see, once again, Epstein... Weinstein, all of these guys
• 13:17
Speaker 1: want to get a foothold within the media. Because once
• 13:20
Speaker 1: they're in the media, once you control the narrative, you
• 13:24
Speaker 1: control the story. If you'd like to contact me, you
