Latest / Inside the Birds: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast / NFL Week 4 Preview: Can Commanders Keep Winning Despite Injuries?
Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everyone, Welcome to the Inside the Birds NFL weekly
- 0:13Speaker 1: preview show. I'm Jeff Mosher, and here we go into
- 0:18Speaker 1: week four. That's right. Think about this, After this weekend,
- 0:22Speaker 1: we are through about through a quarter of the NFL season.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We'll be through four weeks of a seventeen game season.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Not exactly a quarter, but close to it. And that
- 0:33Speaker 1: just shows you how much time flies in the NFL.
- 0:37Speaker 1: It feels like Opening Day, we're Opening Week was just
- 0:41Speaker 1: a couple of days ago, and the next time you
- 0:43Speaker 1: hear me do this podcast on a sat Friday or Saturday,
- 0:47Speaker 1: it will already be four weeks into the NFL season.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And I still think it's a weird week. There's not
- 0:55Speaker 1: a lot of great matchups this week. A couple three
- 1:00Speaker 1: and oh teams. Obviously, the Eagles and Buccaneers are going
- 1:03Speaker 1: at it. Colt Rams good game for sure. But other
- 1:08Speaker 1: than that, you know, you've got some really lopsided matchups.
- 1:12Speaker 1: The Giants, Chargers, obviously, Jackson Dart will make his debut.
- 1:16Speaker 1: You got the three and oh Bills versus zero and
- 1:18Speaker 1: three Saints, So you got some really lopsided matchups. And
- 1:23Speaker 1: you got a bunch of teams right now living in
- 1:26Speaker 1: that middle class. They either have one. They're either one
- 1:28Speaker 1: and two or two and one, which is normal for
- 1:30Speaker 1: this time of the year. But I think we're gonna
- 1:33Speaker 1: do is start to figure out who some teams are
- 1:36Speaker 1: and who are just the teams that last week. Last
- 1:39Speaker 1: week was a bizarre week in the NFL. I mean,
- 1:43Speaker 1: you had some teams suffer some inexplicable losses. I mean,
- 1:48Speaker 1: we'll get into it as my preview games, but who
- 1:50Speaker 1: who could have seen the Panthers blowing out the Falcons
- 1:54Speaker 1: thirty nothing. I know, the Bengals were in their first
- 1:57Speaker 1: game without Joe Burrow. Did you see them losing to
- 2:00Speaker 1: Carson Wentz and the Vikings by thirty eight points? Did
- 2:03Speaker 1: you see the Packers going and losing in Cleveland to
- 2:07Speaker 1: the Browns? Just some absolutely bizarre games. The Cowboys losing
- 2:12Speaker 1: to the Bears. So if you're the type of person
- 2:16Speaker 1: who makes your picks each week based on what you
- 2:20Speaker 1: saw the week before, well this is gonna be a
- 2:23Speaker 1: tough week for you. I am more the person who
- 2:26Speaker 1: tries to say, you know, every once in a while,
- 2:28Speaker 1: you just get a bad week and it comes at
- 2:31Speaker 1: a time you don't expect it. It happens. It's the
- 2:34Speaker 1: ebb and flow of the NFL season. The only team
- 2:37Speaker 1: that doesn't seem to be able to have those kind
- 2:39Speaker 1: of peaks and valleys is the Eagles right now, as
- 2:42Speaker 1: they've won nineteen of their last twenty. But as they
- 2:46Speaker 1: always say, when you have a streak like that, the
- 2:48Speaker 1: losses are just around the corner. The law of averages
- 2:51Speaker 1: catches up with everybody. But credit to Eagles. They find
- 2:55Speaker 1: ways to win games. So do the Buffalo Bills. And
- 2:59Speaker 1: away we go here year in Week four, I want
- 3:01Speaker 1: to start off talking about the Thursday night game between
- 3:05Speaker 1: the Seahawks and the Cardinals, and I'm really fascinated by
- 3:09Speaker 1: the NFC West in general. I think it's one of
- 3:12Speaker 1: those divisions where, yes, there is a clear best team
- 3:17Speaker 1: right now in the Rams. You know, the Rams really
- 3:19Speaker 1: are going to kick themselves for blowing that nineteen point
- 3:22Speaker 1: lead against the Eagles. They look very strong. They look
- 3:25Speaker 1: good defensively, despite the fact that they don't have a
- 3:28Speaker 1: great secondary. They look good offensively. I think the DeVante
- 3:31Speaker 1: Adams addition replacing Cooper Cup has been great for their offense.
- 3:36Speaker 1: They run the ball really well. They've got Blake Klorum
- 3:39Speaker 1: now taking some time or tak them some mileage off
- 3:42Speaker 1: Kyum Williams gives them a little bit of juice. So
- 3:44Speaker 1: I think the Rams, even after blowing that game, will
- 3:48Speaker 1: be a good team and will probably win the NFC West.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I think they're just the best overall team. But the Niners,
- 3:56Speaker 1: you got to give them, give them credit. The Niners
- 3:59Speaker 1: have already overcome the injuries that they seem to always have,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and they are a good team. They're undefeated so far.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And then you had a game Thursday night between the
- 4:09Speaker 1: Seahawks who were who I'm sorry, who are yeah? Who
- 4:12Speaker 1: are too? And one? And the Cardinals who are two
- 4:16Speaker 1: and one going into the game. And I think both
- 4:18Speaker 1: of these teams are pretty good. They're not great. They're
- 4:22Speaker 1: missing some things, especially on offense. They're not fully complete.
- 4:28Speaker 1: But they're both teams that have some some good defensive
- 4:33Speaker 1: players that are playing well defensively, still trying to figure
- 4:37Speaker 1: out who they are offensively, but they're not They're teams
- 4:40Speaker 1: that you have to show up and beat. You can't
- 4:42Speaker 1: play your C plus game and beat the Seahawks and
- 4:45Speaker 1: the Cardinals. And now the Seahawks are three and one
- 4:47Speaker 1: after sort of escaping with the twenty three to twenty win.
- 4:50Speaker 1: They're on the last second field goal in a game
- 4:53Speaker 1: that they were up fourteen to three at one point,
- 4:55Speaker 1: which showed you the Cardinals themselves had a little fight
- 4:58Speaker 1: in them. It was a good NFC West battle. And
- 5:01Speaker 1: the Cardinals are quote unquote the worst of the division
- 5:05Speaker 1: and they're two and two, so and that was their
- 5:09Speaker 1: you know chance really at home to I felt have
- 5:14Speaker 1: a better game. You know, they've only beaten the Saints
- 5:16Speaker 1: and the Panthers so far. You know, they lost a
- 5:19Speaker 1: one point game to the Niners and now they've lost
- 5:21Speaker 1: a three point game to the Seahawks, so they're they're
- 5:24Speaker 1: in it in their division. I mean, they're not getting
- 5:26Speaker 1: blown out. But watching that game was really frustrating. I
- 5:30Speaker 1: think this offense has catered Drew Petsing offense with the
- 5:35Speaker 1: outside zone, with the play action, is catering to some
- 5:38Speaker 1: of Kyler Murray's strengths. He seems to be over the
- 5:41Speaker 1: last few years, since coming back from that knee injury,
- 5:43Speaker 1: a more efficient quarterback. I know he threw two picks.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You guys saw it. I mean one looked like a
- 5:48Speaker 1: complete miscommunication on a route concept and the other was
- 5:53Speaker 1: actually a should have been a catch. I mean just
- 5:55Speaker 1: bounces off I think it was Marvin Harrison's hands and
- 5:58Speaker 1: goes right into the receiver the d back's hands. These
- 6:01Speaker 1: were not two interceptions that earlier in the career you
- 6:04Speaker 1: would say, Kyler Murray, what are you doing right? So
- 6:08Speaker 1: the Cardinals were frustrating to watch because I don't think
- 6:11Speaker 1: they're capitalizing on Kyler Murray's ability to beat you with
- 6:16Speaker 1: his arm and his legs. It seems like his own.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He had a big run in the second half that
- 6:21Speaker 1: was not designed. It was a scramble, and earlier in
- 6:24Speaker 1: the game he had some scrambles and he would just
- 6:26Speaker 1: go dive. I get that Kyler had the knee injury
- 6:29Speaker 1: a couple of years ago, and he worked hard to
- 6:31Speaker 1: come back from that, and there's always been this uncertainty
- 6:34Speaker 1: about whether or not he's going to be their quarterback
- 6:37Speaker 1: of the future. But he has been. They haven't drafted anybody,
- 6:40Speaker 1: but they seem I don't know why. They seem reluctant
- 6:44Speaker 1: to want to get him more involved in the running
- 6:47Speaker 1: offense the way he say the Eagles get Jailer Hurts involved,
- 6:50Speaker 1: or Lamar with the Ravens, or Josh Allen with the Bills.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I'm not saying Kyler is as good of a player,
- 6:56Speaker 1: but he's a very explosive runner, low compact to the ground,
- 7:01Speaker 1: low leverage, speedy guy who is shifty and hard to tackle,
- 7:06Speaker 1: and I just think that they're missing something right now. Offensively,
- 7:09Speaker 1: it looked like for the first half half the players
- 7:11Speaker 1: didn't want to be there. On offense, Marvin Harrison, who
- 7:15Speaker 1: has not been the guy that I thought he would
- 7:17Speaker 1: be a lot of people thought he would be. I mean,
- 7:19Speaker 1: the Cardinals thought he would be. They drafted him, I
- 7:21Speaker 1: think fourth overall. He just hasn't been that guy. He
- 7:24Speaker 1: did catch touchdown later in the game, but right now,
- 7:27Speaker 1: the offenses throw it to Tray McBride, try to throw
- 7:31Speaker 1: it to Marvin Harrison. Hope that everybody's on the same page,
- 7:35Speaker 1: which it doesn't look like it is. Right now, You're
- 7:39Speaker 1: trying to get a running game going without without James Connor,
- 7:42Speaker 1: who's on IR so you're giving the ball to two
- 7:45Speaker 1: different running backs. Steve Mercado is the pass catching back.
- 7:49Speaker 1: They're trying to run the ball with Benson. It's just
- 7:52Speaker 1: not a good offense, and it's an offense that lacks playmakers.
- 7:56Speaker 1: After Harrison and after McBride, who, by the way, had
- 7:59Speaker 1: twenty two twenty one combined targets. Right. I mean Murray
- 8:03Speaker 1: threw the bow forty one times fifty percent of the time.
- 8:05Speaker 1: It's going to those two guys. And then you got
- 8:08Speaker 1: Greg dorch Benson, the running back Michael Wilson, who. I
- 8:12Speaker 1: just think that Cardinals missed a really big opportunity in
- 8:16Speaker 1: the offseason to do more to spice up their offense.
- 8:20Speaker 1: You know, you've got McBride, you got Harrison. Harrison wasn't
- 8:23Speaker 1: lights out as a rookie. You could have banked on
- 8:25Speaker 1: some improvement by year two. But this team just is
- 8:29Speaker 1: lackluster offensively, and it doesn't look like they play for
- 8:34Speaker 1: Kyler Murray. I mean they were dropping his passes, they
- 8:36Speaker 1: were not in communication, in sync with him, and then
- 8:39Speaker 1: Kyler's got to go to the sideline and say, hey,
- 8:42Speaker 1: here's what we gotta do. And I think that his
- 8:44Speaker 1: leadership has always been questioned, and you could see it
- 8:47Speaker 1: in that game. I think he's not a bad quarterback.
- 8:50Speaker 1: He's got a great arm, throws off his back foot
- 8:52Speaker 1: a little bit too much, but he can make things
- 8:54Speaker 1: happen with his own legs. He can keep plays alive,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and he can get he can throw at the tight windows.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You saw him thread it to Harrison and McBride a
- 9:02Speaker 1: couple of times. He can do these things, but he's
- 9:06Speaker 1: got no weapons around him. The weapons don't seem interested
- 9:08Speaker 1: in playing with him, and he doesn't seem interested in
- 9:11Speaker 1: rallying the troops and getting everybody on the same page.
- 9:14Speaker 1: So I feel like it's a missed opportunity. Because the
- 9:16Speaker 1: Cardinals are a pretty good defense. They're getting better, and
- 9:20Speaker 1: I think they'll be in the thick of it in
- 9:21Speaker 1: the NFC West, But I just I'm not inspired by
- 9:25Speaker 1: their offensive play. Jonathan Gannon, he's the defensive minded guy.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I don't know if he cares enough offensively. I don't
- 9:32Speaker 1: know if he's been able to get through to Kyler
- 9:34Speaker 1: Murray and his offensive weapons. But through three weeks now
- 9:38Speaker 1: four weeks, sorry, four weeks because they played their fourth game,
- 9:44Speaker 1: they are not lighting up the scoreboard and they look
- 9:48Speaker 1: like a very lackluster offensive team. And I get it
- 9:52Speaker 1: because they just don't have a whole lot of weapons
- 9:55Speaker 1: that make you think that they're going to be any good.
- 9:58Speaker 1: So the defense can only do some I mean, they
- 10:00Speaker 1: scored Their high point is twenty seven against Panthers Week two.
- 10:04Speaker 1: After that, twenty against the Saints, fifteen against the Niners,
- 10:07Speaker 1: and now twenty against the Seahawks. So I just think
- 10:12Speaker 1: it's a golden opportunity for the Cardinals to really finally
- 10:16Speaker 1: become more relevant that's being wasted now. On the flip side,
- 10:20Speaker 1: I also think the Seahawks don't have that much offensively,
- 10:24Speaker 1: much like the Cardinals. They got one guy or two
- 10:26Speaker 1: guys that they want to throw to and Jackson Smith
- 10:29Speaker 1: and Jigba is one of the best in the league
- 10:32Speaker 1: in year. I think this is year three for him.
- 10:34Speaker 1: He really came on last year. They traded Metcalf, they
- 10:37Speaker 1: made him the guy. He's showing he can be the guy,
- 10:40Speaker 1: but they really, you know, the rookie tight end Arroyo
- 10:44Speaker 1: hasn't really carved his role yet. I told you guys
- 10:47Speaker 1: week one about the rookie that they have in Tory Horton.
- 10:50Speaker 1: He didn't really have a big game, but he will
- 10:52Speaker 1: come on as the season goes. But they're another team
- 10:55Speaker 1: that has a defensive minded head coach and so what
- 10:59Speaker 1: they want to do is run ball, and they ran
- 11:01Speaker 1: the ball fairly well with Walker and Sharbonne. But you see,
- 11:05Speaker 1: they don't have enough to pull away, right, They didn't
- 11:09Speaker 1: have enough. They kept the Cardinals kept in the game.
- 11:11Speaker 1: They were up seventeen to three at one point in
- 11:14Speaker 1: the third quarter, and they just couldn't put their their
- 11:19Speaker 1: their pedal to the medal, or they couldn't choke them out,
- 11:21Speaker 1: whatever analogy you want to use, and that game wound
- 11:25Speaker 1: up being too close for comfort them and they needed
- 11:27Speaker 1: a fifty two yard field goal at the end. I
- 11:29Speaker 1: just don't think they have enough offensively. And are they
- 11:31Speaker 1: a good defense? Yes? Are they good enough like the
- 11:34Speaker 1: league in a boom to just dominate teams week in
- 11:37Speaker 1: and week out defensively and squeak by on twenty to
- 11:40Speaker 1: twenty three points? No, so three and one looks good.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Had a nice game against the Steelers a couple of
- 11:46Speaker 1: weeks ago. But I questioned Theirs and Arizona's ability in
- 11:51Speaker 1: the end to hang with the Rams and a healthy
- 11:55Speaker 1: forty nine Ers team. You never know what the forty
- 11:58Speaker 1: nine ers, so, if they're healthy, okay, if not, different story. Hey,
- 12:03Speaker 1: you know that one guy in the group chat who
- 12:06Speaker 1: hit a five leg parlay week one, and he wouldn't
- 12:08Speaker 1: shut up about it for the rest of the season.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Sounds like kaplan, right, yeah, yeah, it could be him,
- 12:14Speaker 1: It could be you, and we would all want to
- 12:17Speaker 1: be you. My bookie makes it stupid easy to get

- 14:33Speaker 1: show notes and support the show. Obviously, you got a
- 14:37Speaker 1: game in Europe this week. It is in Ireland. Actually,
- 14:42Speaker 1: the Vikings and the Steelers. We all know, you know
- 14:44Speaker 1: the Steelers, the Rooney family, their ties to Ireland. That
- 14:48Speaker 1: is why this game is being played there. It is
- 14:51Speaker 1: a nine to thirty game. The line is the Vikings
- 14:55Speaker 1: are two and a half point favorites. So the Vikings
- 15:00Speaker 1: gave you one of those wins last week where you
- 15:02Speaker 1: wonder like, oh, did they just find something or was
- 15:05Speaker 1: that one of those fluky wins. They welcomed the Cincinnati Bengals,
- 15:10Speaker 1: the Jake Browning lead Cincinnati Bengals, and they absolutely pummeled
- 15:14Speaker 1: them in Carson Wentz's first start. Now listen, if you
- 15:19Speaker 1: saw the box score and saw Vikings forty eight Bengals ten,
- 15:22Speaker 1: you probably thought, holy cow, Kevin O'Connell has done it again.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Carson Wentz must have looked like Sam Darnold last year, folks,
- 15:30Speaker 1: Carson Wentz was along for the ride. He was fourteen
- 15:32Speaker 1: of twenty for one hundred and seventy three yards. When
- 15:36Speaker 1: you score forty eight points, you think your quarterback lit
- 15:38Speaker 1: it up. It was less that and more of Isaiah
- 15:42Speaker 1: Rodgers having a sixty six yard fumble return and Isaiah
- 15:46Speaker 1: Rodgers having an eighty seven yard interception return and Jordan
- 15:50Speaker 1: Mason running for one hundred and sixteen yards and two touchdowns.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Sure Wentz distributed the ball. He didn't throw any interceptions,
- 15:57Speaker 1: which is always the thing with Carson. He was only
- 16:01Speaker 1: sacked three times, which you know for Carson's that's a
- 16:04Speaker 1: good game. But the bottom line is, I listen, I
- 16:07Speaker 1: think the Vikings are very good in the trenches and
- 16:10Speaker 1: that'll enable them to survive having Carson Wentz as their
- 16:15Speaker 1: quarterback for now. As long as Carson's not turning the
- 16:18Speaker 1: ball over, and they obviously caught the Bengals at the
- 16:20Speaker 1: right time. The Bengals couldn't do anything. Listen, we know
- 16:23Speaker 1: Brian Flores is one of the best going to co
- 16:25Speaker 1: match you. He's gonna come match you. He's gonna come
- 16:27Speaker 1: atch you, all right, And he came at Jake Browning
- 16:30Speaker 1: and Jake Browning was not ready for it. So I'm
- 16:33Speaker 1: not gonna be the type of person that now says
- 16:34Speaker 1: the Bengals are gonna stink for the next seven or
- 16:37Speaker 1: eight weeks or nine weeks, ten weeks, however long that
- 16:41Speaker 1: Burrow is out just because of this result. But I
- 16:43Speaker 1: do think the Vikings have a good run game with
- 16:46Speaker 1: Jordan Mason, and they'll eventually get Aaron Jones back. They
- 16:49Speaker 1: have a good defensive line, good pass rush, great defensive coordinator,
- 16:54Speaker 1: good offensive line, So I think that they will be
- 16:56Speaker 1: able to survive here without without JJ mc karthy, who
- 17:00Speaker 1: obviously wasn't lighting it up. People want to know, is
- 17:02Speaker 1: there a chance that Carson Wentz can claim this job
- 17:06Speaker 1: and bear the reclamation guy. I don't know. I think
- 17:09Speaker 1: we're we're too early in the Seedaron. You know, they
- 17:11Speaker 1: got the Steelers this week. We'll see, then they face
- 17:13Speaker 1: a tough defense against the Browns. Then they got the
- 17:15Speaker 1: buy then they got the Eagles, then they got the Chargers,
- 17:18Speaker 1: then they got the Lions, then they got the Ravens.
- 17:21Speaker 1: So let's not put the cart before the horse. That
- 17:25Speaker 1: is a brutal, brutal stretch. So they just have to
- 17:28Speaker 1: take care of business this week against the Steelers in
- 17:31Speaker 1: Ireland and then we'll see what happens against Cleveland. Go
- 17:33Speaker 1: into the bye week and get get ready for that
- 17:36Speaker 1: gambit that they have to face the Steelers are not
- 17:39Speaker 1: The Steelers, don't get fooled. I know that they won
- 17:42Speaker 1: last week and against the Patriots, and they only won
- 17:46Speaker 1: twe They won twenty one to fourteen in New England
- 17:49Speaker 1: by him self. That's good. They're two and one. They
- 17:52Speaker 1: forced five turnovers in that game. How do you force
- 17:56Speaker 1: five turnovers in a game? You get five takeaways and
- 18:01Speaker 1: you only win by a touchdown. In fact, the game
- 18:04Speaker 1: was tied in the fourth quarter and then Aaron Rodgers
- 18:07Speaker 1: threw a touchdown the fourth quarter. To me, that shows
- 18:10Speaker 1: you that the Steelers are very full in the five
- 18:13Speaker 1: two years ago, three years ago, four years ago. You
- 18:16Speaker 1: give Mike Tomlin and the Steelers five turnovers, guess what
- 18:20Speaker 1: they're gonna pummel you. But they still have no run game,
- 18:24Speaker 1: they still have a moderate passing game, and while their
- 18:27Speaker 1: defense might have picked up the pace after a rough
- 18:31Speaker 1: first few weeks, it was just the Patriots. So I
- 18:34Speaker 1: can't make too much And it wouldn't shock me at
- 18:36Speaker 1: all if the Vikings were able to win this game again.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Their two and a half point favorites for a reason.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Pittsburgh's got to beat somebody. We'll see, We'll see what
- 18:44Speaker 1: they can do. Against this Vikings pass rush Washington at Atlanta. Folks,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I don't know about the Falcons. They are one and
- 18:53Speaker 1: a half point favorites. I think that's mostly because they're
- 18:57Speaker 1: home and because Washington is probably gonna be on their
- 19:00Speaker 1: backup quarterback. They're probably gonna be without Terry McLaurin. Doesn't
- 19:05Speaker 1: look good for McLaurin. He may have to have the
- 19:06Speaker 1: core surgery. They've got an injury at the running back position.
- 19:11Speaker 1: So they're one and a half point favorites. But I
- 19:14Speaker 1: can't trust the Falcons to beat anybody after they just
- 19:18Speaker 1: lost at to the Panthers. Panthers took the first two
- 19:22Speaker 1: weeks of the season off and then beat them thirty
- 19:26Speaker 1: to nothing. I got all excited about the Falcons and
- 19:28Speaker 1: their six sacks a couple of weeks ago when they
- 19:30Speaker 1: beat the Vikings, and then they go and just lay
- 19:34Speaker 1: an absolute egg against the Panthers who just suddenly wake up.
- 19:39Speaker 1: The Panthers wake up and wax the Falcons there's something wrong,
- 19:42Speaker 1: and then listen. I like Raheem Morris as a coach.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I think he's good. I think he has a chance
- 19:48Speaker 1: and the potential to be a good coach everywhere he
- 19:51Speaker 1: has been as an assistant. They have loved him. You know,
- 19:54Speaker 1: he had that head coach job way too early in
- 19:58Speaker 1: his career, way too young with Tampa. He left there.
- 20:00Speaker 1: He wound up having a few I think he was
- 20:02Speaker 1: in Washington. He's with the Rams, and everywhere he went
- 20:05Speaker 1: they would rave about him. He's a good coach, but
- 20:08Speaker 1: you go and being a coach is not always about
- 20:11Speaker 1: x's nose. It's about how you are a leader of men.
- 20:15Speaker 1: You lose thirty nothing in Carolina, what do you do?
- 20:17Speaker 1: You fire your wide receivers. Coach, that's gonna fix your problem.
- 20:20Speaker 1: You just give up thirty points to an offense. Excuse me?
- 20:25Speaker 1: That took the first two weeks of the season off.
- 20:29Speaker 1: So not a good look for Rahee Morris. Not a
- 20:33Speaker 1: good look for the Falcons. They're one and two. I'm
- 20:35Speaker 1: frankly not sure why they're favored in this game other
- 20:38Speaker 1: than the injuries to Washington, but it would not It
- 20:41Speaker 1: wouldn't phase me in the slightest if the Commanders still
- 20:45Speaker 1: went in there and won that game. Mariota has played
- 20:48Speaker 1: well for the last two years when he's been asked
- 20:50Speaker 1: to step in, looks like a completely different quarterback. Dan
- 20:53Speaker 1: Quinn has done a nice job overcoming the injuries. I
- 20:56Speaker 1: thought the Echoler injuryer would hurt them for one week.
- 20:59Speaker 2: It not.
- 21:01Speaker 1: They It's not exactly playing murderers Row, but you know,
- 21:05Speaker 1: behind Mariota and they were able to beat the Raiders.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I thought they would. They stomped on them forty one
- 21:10Speaker 1: to twenty four. And honestly, going to the Falcons probably
- 21:14Speaker 1: isn't that much of a concern for them either. So
- 21:18Speaker 1: Alana's got a lot to show here, folks. And Rahee Morris,
- 21:20Speaker 1: you're gonna fire your wide receivers coach after you lose
- 21:22Speaker 1: thirty to nothing. Now the spotlight's on you, my friend.
- 21:26Speaker 1: So I'm sure Arthur Blank, the owner, can't be very
- 21:28Speaker 1: happy about that Buffalo is hosting the New Orleans Saints.
- 21:34Speaker 1: This quite could quite possibly be the best or second
- 21:39Speaker 1: best NFL team versus the worst. Clearly the worst, and
- 21:42Speaker 1: so that's why the Bills are six fourteen and a
- 21:44Speaker 1: half point favorites at home. Wouldn't surprise me if that
- 21:47Speaker 1: line got even bigger. That's a big line to cover.
- 21:50Speaker 1: But if a team's gonna cover that, it'll be the
- 21:52Speaker 1: Bills at home against the Saints. The Bills are clicking
- 21:57Speaker 1: right now. I mean, their only real tough opponent was
- 22:00Speaker 1: Week one when they beat the Ravens on that huge
- 22:02Speaker 1: comeback when they were down fifteen. They beat the Jets,
- 22:05Speaker 1: they beat Dolphins. Now they get the Saints and then
- 22:08Speaker 1: they'll have the love the Patriots and Falcons after the
- 22:12Speaker 1: Bills may not lose. All right. Here's the Bill schedule.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Saints Week four, Patriots Week five, Falcons week six, bye week,
- 22:20Speaker 1: Week seven. The bye week might give them the toughest
- 22:22Speaker 1: time Week eight, Carolina Panthers. All right, they don't face
- 22:27Speaker 1: a real opponent until the Kansas City Chiefs November second,
- 22:32Speaker 1: Week nine. It's gonna be cold out right now where
- 22:35Speaker 1: I live, it's eighty degrees. It'll probably be cold out.
- 22:38Speaker 1: May even be snowing in Buffalo for that game November two,
- 22:42Speaker 1: who knows. But that's how the Bills are on a
- 22:45Speaker 1: highway right now. And listen, if you're in a survivor
- 22:49Speaker 1: league and you haven't taken the Bills yet and you want,
- 22:52Speaker 1: you got any of the next six weeks to be
- 22:54Speaker 1: able to take them, so you know, do that at
- 22:56Speaker 1: your own discretion. Browns at Lions Browns are nine and
- 23:01Speaker 1: a half point underdogs. The Browns shocked the world. They
- 23:04Speaker 1: beat the Packers last week. It wasn't a pretty game.
- 23:08Speaker 1: They won seventeen to ten. But I told you this
- 23:11Speaker 1: the brown I told you just going into the year.
- 23:13Speaker 1: The Browns had some ugly moments, but their defense is
- 23:16Speaker 1: pretty good. They gave up sixteen in a loss to
- 23:19Speaker 1: the Bengals Week one. They lost that game seven. I'm
- 23:22Speaker 1: sorry they give up seventeen. They lost seventeen sixteen. They
- 23:24Speaker 1: got pounded by the Ravens. That's an AFC North game
- 23:27Speaker 1: that's always gonna be weird. And then they welcome the
- 23:30Speaker 1: Packers in New Cleveland and they went thirteen to ten.
- 23:33Speaker 1: So so far they've held two of their three opponents
- 23:36Speaker 1: under eighteen points. Bengals scored seventeen, Packers scored ten, and
- 23:41Speaker 1: by the way, that was the Joe Burrow Bengals. So
- 23:43Speaker 1: they've held Borrow and love to modest yards here so
- 23:48Speaker 1: their defense can play. This is a totally different animal
- 23:50Speaker 1: this week though. They're playing Alliance team that is absolutely
- 23:54Speaker 1: on fire since losing the Green Bay and the opener.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Fifty two points against the Bears, thirty eight points against
- 24:02Speaker 1: the Ravens, who continue to play poorly on defense in
- 24:06Speaker 1: the second half and turn the ball over. But you
- 24:09Speaker 1: give them credit. They have found it. I was worried
- 24:10Speaker 1: about their OWD line, but they have run the ball well.
- 24:13Speaker 1: They have mixed the run pass. It seems like they
- 24:16Speaker 1: have hit their stride. I don't think they're gonna go
- 24:18Speaker 1: into Cleveland and come out with thirty five to fifty points,
- 24:22Speaker 1: but they know what they're doing, they know how to score.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I think this one will be a tough one for Cleveland.
- 24:27Speaker 1: I'm sorry this game's in Detroit, so that makes it
- 24:30Speaker 1: even tougher. It's a nice track speed for the Lions,
- 24:33Speaker 1: and Lions are nine and a half point favorites. I
- 24:36Speaker 1: expect them to win. The Panthers at the Patriots, Folks,
- 24:42Speaker 1: this game, this game just stinks looking at it. Honestly,
- 24:47Speaker 1: I don't know. Again, I don't know what got into
- 24:49Speaker 1: the Panthers last week and they're thirty to nothing win.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It was a good job by Dave Canalis kind of
- 24:54Speaker 1: rallying the team. It's not again. This wasn't a game
- 24:56Speaker 1: where the offense came alive. Bryce Young had one hundred
- 24:59Speaker 1: and twenty one yard. I didn't throw a touchdown, but
- 25:02Speaker 1: he didn't also throw an interception. They ran the ball, okay,
- 25:06Speaker 1: they got a couple of big field goals, they got
- 25:09Speaker 1: a couple of touchdown runs, they had interception return. It's
- 25:12Speaker 1: just basically that the Falcons stuck and the Panthers took
- 25:15Speaker 1: advantage of it. Now, can the Panthers get to two
- 25:17Speaker 1: and two this week against the Patriots in New England?
- 25:22Speaker 1: Good question. I don't know. I don't know what New
- 25:24Speaker 1: England Patriots team is going to show up because they
- 25:27Speaker 1: have been a weird team this year as well. You know,
- 25:31Speaker 1: they lose to the Raiders in the season opener, they
- 25:32Speaker 1: come back and beat the Dolphins in a big divisional
- 25:34Speaker 1: game for them, and then they lose to the Steelers
- 25:37Speaker 1: and turn the ball over five times. I guarantee you
- 25:39Speaker 1: this if they turn the ball. If they turned the
- 25:41Speaker 1: ball over five times against the Panthers, they'll lose. I
- 25:44Speaker 1: would guess that if they don't turn the ball over,
- 25:46Speaker 1: they'll probably beat the Panthers. I think they're better overall
- 25:50Speaker 1: than the Panthers. They're at home, so to expect the
- 25:53Speaker 1: Patriots to win their five and a half point favorites.
- 25:56Speaker 1: But who can guarantee it? I don't know. Enough about
- 25:59Speaker 1: these two teams right now, and I'm not impressed with
- 26:01Speaker 1: either of them. Chargers at Giants one o'clock game. Now,
- 26:07Speaker 1: this will be the most exciting game between an unbeaten
- 26:11Speaker 1: team and a winless team of the afternoon because the Giants.
- 26:19Speaker 1: The Giants have decided to throw the master plan out
- 26:23Speaker 1: the window and bench Russell Wilson after three games, and
- 26:28Speaker 1: they're going with the wonder kid, Jackson Dart. That's what
- 26:31Speaker 1: everybody wants to see, all the fans want to see
- 26:34Speaker 1: because oh, he was great in the preseason. Well, reality
- 26:38Speaker 1: check for Jackson Dart. Your first game will come against
- 26:41Speaker 1: the Chargers. Good luck, all right, The unbeaten Chargers, who
- 26:44Speaker 1: have all three wins, have come against AFC West opponents.
- 26:47Speaker 1: They've beaten the Broncos, the Chiefs, and they've beaten the Raiders. Okay,
- 26:52Speaker 1: so they're off to a pretty good start and their
- 26:54Speaker 1: defense looks pretty good. All right, So welcome to the NFL,
- 26:57Speaker 1: Jackson Dart. You gotta go play the three and zero
- 26:59Speaker 1: charge at least your home and then you get your
- 27:02Speaker 1: first gift. You go on the road Week five for
- 27:04Speaker 1: the Saints. All right, great, you play the worst team
- 27:07Speaker 1: in football. Maybe you get a win, and then Jackson Dart,
- 27:12Speaker 1: you will then place play in order the Eagles, the Broncos,
- 27:17Speaker 1: the Eagles again, and the forty nine ers. All Right,
- 27:22Speaker 1: you might get a little bit of a break after
- 27:23Speaker 1: that with the Bears. I don't know what the Bears
- 27:25Speaker 1: are going to be back then or at that point.
- 27:27Speaker 1: They did look impressive last week, and then you got
- 27:31Speaker 1: to face the Packers and Lions after that. So what
- 27:34Speaker 1: are we expecting for Jackson Dart here that we weren't
- 27:38Speaker 1: getting from the oh and three Giants? I don't know.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Can he beat the Saints? Sure? Could? Russell Wilson have
- 27:44Speaker 1: probably beaten the Saints, I would think so. Again, it's
- 27:47Speaker 1: about the offensive line and getting Andrew Thomas back. It's
- 27:52Speaker 1: about being able to get a lead on a team
- 27:56Speaker 1: so that your four man rush, which has all these
- 27:58Speaker 1: studs on it, can actually off on the quarterback. They
- 28:01Speaker 1: never have a lead. They're gonna have a lead against
- 28:03Speaker 1: the Chargers. I feel like this is a a and
- 28:07Speaker 1: I don't even understand how this saves Brian Dable, right
- 28:10Speaker 1: because he's now bringing in Jackson Dark to face some
- 28:14Speaker 1: really tough teams. So if they are one in six,
- 28:18Speaker 1: one and seven. It doesn't look good. It looks like
- 28:21Speaker 1: you're not getting a job done. He could have waited
- 28:23Speaker 1: to be one in six and one and seven, then
- 28:25Speaker 1: put Dart in and tried to get Dart some wins
- 28:28Speaker 1: against the Bears, the Patriots second half of the schedule,
- 28:32Speaker 1: Vikings Raiders. But he's going to them early. Well, I
- 28:36Speaker 1: guess I gotta give him credit for that. He's thrown
- 28:39Speaker 1: Jackson Dart to the Wolves and he's putting his job
- 28:41Speaker 1: security in the line here. But I would not expect
- 28:46Speaker 1: like you'll get some juice. They'll get Jackson Dart involved
- 28:49Speaker 1: in the running game. Maybe he'll do a little bit
- 28:51Speaker 1: better job getting the ball to Malik Neighbors. But I
- 28:55Speaker 1: think throwing him against Jesse Minter's defense in his first
- 28:59Speaker 1: start is certainly a baptism by fire. And if I'm
- 29:02Speaker 1: the Chargers six and a half point favorites on the road,
- 29:05Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to it. Eagles Bucks Great games should
- 29:09Speaker 1: be really good. I'm reading that it's going to be
- 29:10Speaker 1: one hundred and three degrees on the field, which is
- 29:13Speaker 1: typical of an Eagles Bucks game because they always wind
- 29:15Speaker 1: up playing in September or early October. They always play
- 29:19Speaker 1: at the Pirate Chip. For whatever reason, it's been a
- 29:21Speaker 1: house of hors for the Eagles. Thinks they've lost six
- 29:24Speaker 1: of last seven overall to the Bucks. But this will
- 29:27Speaker 1: be interesting because aj Brown is expected to play. He
- 29:30Speaker 1: usually misses this game. Mike Evans not expected to play.
- 29:34Speaker 1: He's out with a hamstring. So this will be the
- 29:37Speaker 1: game where the Eagles will fuel for once that maybe
- 29:40Speaker 1: they have the injury advantage. Even though the Eagles have
- 29:43Speaker 1: some injuries on their own, but Tampa Bay's offensive line
- 29:46Speaker 1: really beat up. We're going to cover it all on
- 29:48Speaker 1: Inside the Birds pregame show. We did cover it all myself,
- 29:51Speaker 1: Adam Kaplan and Greg Cosel. I expect it to be
- 29:55Speaker 1: a pretty fun game though, and clearly, of all the
- 29:57Speaker 1: games I've mentioned so far, this problem feels like the
- 30:00Speaker 1: one that has the potential, just like last week's one,
- 30:03Speaker 1: to be most exciting and have the most intrigue. Titans
- 30:09Speaker 1: at Texans. Now, if you would have told me that
- 30:14Speaker 1: Week four the Titans and Texans was going to be
- 30:16Speaker 1: a battle of two zero to three teams, I would
- 30:19Speaker 1: have said, that's nonsense. You know that I was higher
- 30:21Speaker 1: on the Texans than what their record suggests their offense
- 30:25Speaker 1: has been terrible. I don't know what the fix for
- 30:30Speaker 1: them is other than just getting continuity and protecting CJ. Stroud.
- 30:35Speaker 1: They need to do a better job. So far they
- 30:38Speaker 1: have been an embarrassment, not bad, an embarrassment on offense.
- 30:45Speaker 1: They have scored thirty eight total points. Okay, thirty eight
- 30:51Speaker 1: points in three games. The Lions have leave scored that
- 30:55Speaker 1: twice already this year in a single game. An embarrassment.
- 31:00Speaker 1: It's got to turn around, and it has to start
- 31:03Speaker 1: against the Titans team that is equally reeling. A Titans
- 31:07Speaker 1: team that itself. They've actually scored more points. They've scored
- 31:11Speaker 1: forty one points, but have given up a lot the
- 31:14Speaker 1: last two weeks. They give thirty three to the Rams,
- 31:16Speaker 1: they get forty one to the Colts. It's now or
- 31:19Speaker 1: never for the Texans man and that offense or else
- 31:22Speaker 1: something's going to have to be done. Demko has done
- 31:25Speaker 1: a fine job with that defense. It's not a question
- 31:28Speaker 1: of that. They have a very good defense. They haven't
- 31:30Speaker 1: allowed more than twenty points yet in a game. But Demiko,
- 31:34Speaker 1: it's got to find a better offensive game plan. He
- 31:37Speaker 1: fired Bobby Slowk after last year. They made some improved well,
- 31:40Speaker 1: they made some moves offensively to bring in Christian Kirk
- 31:44Speaker 1: to try to fix the line, and Kirk has three
- 31:47Speaker 1: catches for twenty five yards last week. Right now, they
- 31:50Speaker 1: have to force feed Nico Collins. They don't have much
- 31:53Speaker 1: of a running game. I said last week, I thought
- 31:55Speaker 1: they had need to get Woody Marks Moore involved six
- 31:57Speaker 1: rushers twenty seven yards. They really got to get him
- 32:00Speaker 1: the ball in his hands, out out of the backfield.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Let them catch a ball. But scoring ten points against
- 32:05Speaker 1: the Jaguars, I've there making the Jaguars look like the
- 32:07Speaker 1: eighty five Bears. Let's go. Come on, Texans, like you
- 32:11Speaker 1: were in the playoffs last year. You won your playoff
- 32:14Speaker 1: game against the Chargers, and you gave the Chiefs a
- 32:17Speaker 1: good game in the divisional round. Then you start off
- 32:20Speaker 1: zero to three against these three teams. I mean, you
- 32:24Speaker 1: aren't playing murderers, Row Here, Rams, Bucks, Jags. Okay, the
- 32:28Speaker 1: Rams and Bucks are good, but you were in the
- 32:30Speaker 1: divisional round last year. You can't be owing three. Show
- 32:34Speaker 1: me some offense, show me some life, my god. I mean,
- 32:39Speaker 1: I'm sorry, folks, but I had a little bit higher
- 32:41Speaker 1: expectations for this Texans team, and they're just an embarrassment
- 32:45Speaker 1: right now. On offense, they need to figure it out somehow.
- 32:49Speaker 1: They're seven and a half point favorites against the Titans.
- 32:51Speaker 1: I don't know if they're gonna cover. I think they're
- 32:53Speaker 1: gonna win. I don't know if they can cover seven
- 32:55Speaker 1: and a half. Because the beat a team by seven,
- 32:58Speaker 1: a you gotta win by eight. That means you got
- 33:00Speaker 1: score eight more points in your opponent. Can I score
- 33:02Speaker 1: eight more points than anybody? Sports are all about competition.

- 35:25Speaker 1: does look like Daniel Jones is now becoming last year's
- 35:29Speaker 1: Sam Darnold. I mean he's doing everything he needs to
- 35:32Speaker 1: do to win and then some he's playing well, not
- 35:35Speaker 1: just getting by. They scored forty one points against the Titans,
- 35:38Speaker 1: they scored twenty nine against that Broncos defense, and they
- 35:41Speaker 1: waxed the Dolphins. They are averaging over thirty points per game,
- 35:46Speaker 1: and obviously their ability to move the ball with Daniel
- 35:50Speaker 1: Jones at quarterback has really opened it up for their
- 35:54Speaker 1: great running back Jonathan Taylor, who is off to a
- 35:57Speaker 1: great start, and they are they're defensively, they've been pretty good,
- 36:01Speaker 1: not great. I give up twenty eight to the Broncos.
- 36:04Speaker 1: The Titans don't have much of an offense to measure
- 36:07Speaker 1: them again, so this will be a very good measuring
- 36:10Speaker 1: stick game, because they're gonna go play a RAMS team
- 36:13Speaker 1: out in LA that is either gonna do one of
- 36:16Speaker 1: two things. They're either gonna have a hangover from blowing
- 36:18Speaker 1: it against the Eagles, or they're gonna be so freaking
- 36:23Speaker 1: motivated to get back on the field and get that
- 36:25Speaker 1: sour taste in their mouth that they're gonna want to
- 36:29Speaker 1: really really get back in the win column and feel
- 36:32Speaker 1: like they should be undefeated. So they're three and a
- 36:35Speaker 1: half point favorites. It's a tough game to call. I
- 36:38Speaker 1: wouldn't touch this one. Any team can win. These are
- 36:41Speaker 1: two teams that run the ball really, really well and
- 36:45Speaker 1: pass the ball deliberately and methodically. Stafford missed a bunch
- 36:49Speaker 1: of bits. Stafford is the one who's gonna look at
- 36:51Speaker 1: himself in the mirror after that Eagles loss and say,
- 36:54Speaker 1: I blew it. I had five or six throws where
- 36:56Speaker 1: there was not pressure in my face that I could
- 36:59Speaker 1: have made the right throw. I either led a guy
- 37:01Speaker 1: throw it high. Stafford doesn't ordinarily do that, And if
- 37:05Speaker 1: he does it again against the Colts and they win,
- 37:07Speaker 1: you gotta wonder what's going on with him, Because his
- 37:11Speaker 1: first two weeks were really good tape was really good,
- 37:14Speaker 1: but he missed a lot of throws against the Eagles.
- 37:16Speaker 1: This will be a good games, will be a good game,
- 37:19Speaker 1: and I'll look forward to it. Jags it forty nine
- 37:24Speaker 1: ers forty nine ers or three and a half point favorites.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Now it looks like they'll get Purty back this week,
- 37:30Speaker 1: and they almost have to because as it is with
- 37:33Speaker 1: the forty nine ers, Mac Jones got hurt. I think
- 37:36Speaker 1: it was a PCL injury, so I don't think he'd
- 37:39Speaker 1: be able to play. But it looks like Party will
- 37:41Speaker 1: come back. They're still dealing with Kittle's injury. They're riding
- 37:45Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey. Jwan Jennings is another guy that has been
- 37:49Speaker 1: banged up. So right now their operation is get the
- 37:52Speaker 1: ball to McCaffrey, who has stayed healthy, who has looked great,
- 37:56Speaker 1: has been the bell cow for them in absence of
- 38:00Speaker 1: not having Ayuk and not having Kittle, Pure Saul has
- 38:03Speaker 1: been really good. They listen, you know that all all
- 38:06Speaker 1: the Niners need is a few weapons and they can
- 38:09Speaker 1: move the change. They're not blowing up the scoreboard by
- 38:12Speaker 1: any means, but they are undefeated. They haven't played really
- 38:16Speaker 1: tough opponents. I mean, they just edged the Cardinals sixteen
- 38:19Speaker 1: to fifteen last Sunday. They just barely beat the Saint
- 38:22Speaker 1: who are awful, but they're three and oh. They beat
- 38:24Speaker 1: the Seahawks, a Seahawks team that since that game has
- 38:27Speaker 1: looked pretty good. And if they can beat the Jaguars
- 38:29Speaker 1: at home, they go to four and oh, and it
- 38:32Speaker 1: just gives them another week before they get Kiddle, before
- 38:35Speaker 1: they get Ayuk back, and before they're fully healthy. And honestly,
- 38:40Speaker 1: I think that they can beat this game. I know
- 38:43Speaker 1: the Jags are two and one. They have not looked
- 38:46Speaker 1: impressive to me at two and one. You know that again,
- 38:49Speaker 1: they beat the Texans seventeen ten. Their defense has looked
- 38:52Speaker 1: very good outside of giving up thirty one to the
- 38:54Speaker 1: Bengals in Week two, but also probably looked good because
- 38:59Speaker 1: they've a Texans offense that stinks right now in a
- 39:02Speaker 1: Panthers offense that stinks. So I don't know. I don't
- 39:06Speaker 1: know who the Jags are. I don't believe in them yet.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I woul it wouldn't surprise me if not only did
- 39:10Speaker 1: the forty nine ers win this game, but if they
- 39:13Speaker 1: won it by they covered pretty decently. Three and a
- 39:16Speaker 1: half point favorites. If Jacksonville wins this game, I will
- 39:19Speaker 1: probably have to start to reevaluate them what they are
- 39:22Speaker 1: defensively and get over the fact that Trevor Lawrence has
- 39:26Speaker 1: been unable to get the ball to Brian Thomas has
- 39:30Speaker 1: been able to get the ball to Travis Hunter, and
- 39:33Speaker 1: that overall this offense, this Jags offense, which I thought
- 39:36Speaker 1: would look a lot better with Liam Cohen, has looked very,
- 39:40Speaker 1: very pedestrian so far. Now the other four to twenty
- 39:43Speaker 1: five game, this could be a great game. It could
- 39:46Speaker 1: be just as good as Colts and Rams if the
- 39:50Speaker 1: Chiefs and the Ravens sort of play a Chiefs Ravens game.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Red Chiefs haven't been themselves this year. I mean, they
- 39:57Speaker 1: did beat the Giants, but it's not like they were
- 40:00Speaker 1: poetry in motion and doing it. They just needed to win.
- 40:03Speaker 1: They went out to New York, they got to New Jersey,
- 40:06Speaker 1: got their win twenty two to nine. So it was
- 40:09Speaker 1: good on them to be able to kind of just
- 40:11Speaker 1: get into the win column. They got the ball to
- 40:13Speaker 1: Taekwon Thornton in this game, but again, the Giants kind
- 40:16Speaker 1: of stink defensively. But I do think it was important
- 40:18Speaker 1: for them in the absence of a running game right now,
- 40:22Speaker 1: and I still think they're going to have to make
- 40:23Speaker 1: a move to get themselves a better running back. But
- 40:27Speaker 1: in the absence of that, Mahomes only had to run
- 40:29Speaker 1: for two yards against the Giants. They were able to
- 40:32Speaker 1: get Thornton the ball. They got the ball to Kelsey
- 40:34Speaker 1: a little bit, Marquise Brown a little bit. It sounds
- 40:37Speaker 1: like Worthy, Zavi. You're Worthy's gonna be able to play.
- 40:39Speaker 1: So if that's the case, and they can get him
- 40:42Speaker 1: the ball and he can open some things up, and
- 40:45Speaker 1: you know the Chiefs are gonna be at home. You
- 40:46Speaker 1: know their defense is going to be good. And let's
- 40:48Speaker 1: face it, this Ravens team has looked pretty poor defensively
- 40:54Speaker 1: through three weeks. Remember what I said in my first
- 40:57Speaker 1: show the Ravens last year, Fear their last eight games
- 41:01Speaker 1: had the second best scoring and total defense in the NFL,
- 41:05Speaker 1: right behind the Eagles. And not only did they bring
- 41:09Speaker 1: back all their important players on defense, they went out
- 41:11Speaker 1: and got Jayirra Alexander. I had the Ravens as my
- 41:15Speaker 1: number one team going into the season, right over the Eagles,
- 41:17Speaker 1: just because I felt from a fifty three standpoint bringing
- 41:21Speaker 1: everybody back from that defense and then adding Alexander. We
- 41:24Speaker 1: know how good Lamar and the offense is. I thought
- 41:27Speaker 1: they would be okay, but it seems like they're having
- 41:30Speaker 1: a hangover from the way they lost in the divisional
- 41:33Speaker 1: round to the Bills last year because they turned. They
- 41:36Speaker 1: were beating the Bill soundly on the road in the
- 41:39Speaker 1: season opener, than Derek Henry fumbles and then all hell
- 41:43Speaker 1: breaks lose for their defense and they lose forty one
- 41:45Speaker 1: to forty. Then they come home, they beat the Browns
- 41:48Speaker 1: because it's the Browns. But then last week they're home
- 41:51Speaker 1: against the Lions. They look somewhat in control of that.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I mean, it was a neck and neck game. They
- 42:00Speaker 1: were up twenty eight to twenty four, and then bad
- 42:05Speaker 1: things happen. The Derrick Henry fumble really hurt them again.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Derrick Henry, who does not fumble a whole lot, just
- 42:14Speaker 1: he gets kind of stripsacked from behind, which is surprising.
- 42:20Speaker 1: And I forget who made the player think it was
- 42:22Speaker 1: Aden Hutchinson, So credit to agent Aiden Hutchinson. He makes
- 42:26Speaker 1: a play from behind where he gets the ball out
- 42:29Speaker 1: of Henry's hands and Henry fumbles, and at that point,
- 42:34Speaker 1: so Detroit's up at that point twenty eight to twenty four, right,
- 42:38Speaker 1: and at that point he fumbles, the Lions get it back.
- 42:41Speaker 1: They immediately convert the field goal. They go up thirty
- 42:45Speaker 1: one to twenty four. Then they tack on another one.
- 42:48Speaker 1: David Montgomery had a great game, great game, one hundred
- 42:51Speaker 1: and fifty one yards, two touchdowns on the ground, and
- 42:56Speaker 1: they win that game. And that's an impressive win for Detroit.
- 42:58Speaker 1: But you're the Lion. I'm sorry, you're the Ravens, and
- 43:02Speaker 1: you have now blown it twice. This game was more
- 43:05Speaker 1: neck and neck. It's not like you're up fifteen points,
- 43:08Speaker 1: but it just feels like your second half defense is
- 43:12Speaker 1: really hurting you. They were up twenty one to fourteen
- 43:15Speaker 1: in the third quarter when Mark Andrews caught a touchdown,
- 43:18Speaker 1: so they were up in that game in the second half.
- 43:21Speaker 1: So yeah, you look at this game and you say,
- 43:24Speaker 1: I have blown it now twice in the first three weeks.
- 43:27Speaker 1: I've blown it against good teams. But I'm supposed to
- 43:29Speaker 1: be a good team. Where the Baltimore Ravens. All right now,
- 43:33Speaker 1: we're one and two and we got to go to
- 43:35Speaker 1: Kansas City, and you know, this is always a great
- 43:37Speaker 1: game between these two. If they lose, the Ravens lose
- 43:40Speaker 1: this game and fall to one and three. They do
- 43:43Speaker 1: have some tough games on the schedule. They got the
- 43:45Speaker 1: Rams in Week six, so that would put them in
- 43:50Speaker 1: a tough spot. They're AFC North games are traditionally tough.
- 43:53Speaker 1: We'll see about the Texans in week five, Bears week eight.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I mean, listen, they should be all right once they
- 44:00Speaker 1: get past their Week seven by because it's Bears, Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, Jets, Bengals, Steelers,
- 44:05Speaker 1: so Bengals again. I mean, they'll they'll be fine. They're
- 44:09Speaker 1: gonna be in the playoffs. You're gonna win double digit games.
- 44:11Speaker 1: But these measuring stick games earlier in the year, they're
- 44:14Speaker 1: clearly haven't measured up yet. And that surprises me from
- 44:17Speaker 1: a Ravens team that I thought was gonna be really
- 44:19Speaker 1: good going into the year. The Bears on the road
- 44:24Speaker 1: against the the Vegas Raiders, so the Raiders think then,
- 44:31Speaker 1: yet they are one and a half point favorites at home.
- 44:34Speaker 1: I just think Pete Carroll's got a lot of work
- 44:35Speaker 1: to do with this team. They're they're on paper better
- 44:39Speaker 1: than they've been in the past. I mean Gino is
- 44:41Speaker 1: a capable quarterback. They're not getting the ball enough to genty.
- 44:45Speaker 1: We have not seen really explosive plays from him. They're
- 44:48Speaker 1: kind of their passing game is not going to rock
- 44:53Speaker 1: Bauers the way I thought it would be. In fact,
- 44:55Speaker 1: I think Trey Tucker is is there a leading receiver.
- 44:58Speaker 1: They're just they're kind of like a discombobulated team right now,
- 45:02Speaker 1: which is sort of very Las Vegas Raiders. It's just
- 45:05Speaker 1: Raiders to be discombobulated. But they come home and they'll
- 45:11Speaker 1: play the Bears, and the Bears. Look. I challenged Brian Johnson.
- 45:15Speaker 1: I said, I didn't like the way you threw your
- 45:16Speaker 1: team under the bus after you got your ass kicked
- 45:19Speaker 1: by the Lions. And they responded to his challenge. At
- 45:23Speaker 1: least he said they didn't practice like a championship level team.
- 45:26Speaker 1: I thought that was an asenine statement from a coach's
- 45:28Speaker 1: never won a championship as a head coach or coordinator.
- 45:32Speaker 1: So I didn't know what he was expecting. But you
- 45:35Speaker 1: give him credit. They were home, they welcomed the Cowboys,
- 45:39Speaker 1: they were underdogs. They didn't only win, but they pounded
- 45:42Speaker 1: the Cowboys, and so that was a good bounce back win.
- 45:46Speaker 1: This is another one of those weeks where do you
- 45:49Speaker 1: judge the Bears off of Week three and Week three
- 45:52Speaker 1: only and not taking account that they looked bad against
- 45:55Speaker 1: terrible against the Lions, and they blew a lead against
- 45:58Speaker 1: the Vikings and started off only too. So do you
- 46:01Speaker 1: go and say, oh, they're completely turned around and beating
- 46:05Speaker 1: the Cowboys, so now they're gonna go thrash the Raiders.
- 46:07Speaker 1: I don't know. Well, this is anyone's game. Wouldn't shock
- 46:11Speaker 1: me if the Raiders won this game. I'm not sitting
- 46:14Speaker 1: here touting the Bears just because of one win. But
- 46:17Speaker 1: I will say the connection between Caleb Williams and Rome
- 46:20Speaker 1: Donzay is looking really good right now. Brian Johnson does
- 46:25Speaker 1: have the offense, at least against the Cowboys. I like
- 46:30Speaker 1: what he's got going on with Caleb Williams and getting
- 46:32Speaker 1: the ball to a Luther Burden, which I said last
- 46:35Speaker 1: week they talked about wanting to get in the ball.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Luther Burden three catches for one hundred and one yards.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Roman Dunsay three catches sixty two yards in a touchdown.
- 46:43Speaker 1: So it looks like those two guys are becoming a
- 46:45Speaker 1: bigger part of the offense. I wonder if TJ. Moore
- 46:48Speaker 1: is getting phased out a little bit, still waiting on
- 46:50Speaker 1: Colston Lovelin to become a bigger part. But this is
- 46:53Speaker 1: where the Bears need to capitalize. Okay, this is where
- 46:56Speaker 1: you're Brian Johnson. You challenge your team, they respond, Now
- 47:00Speaker 1: let's go. Let's see what you got. Now, you got
- 47:03Speaker 1: a winnable game against the Raiders. Okay. The week after that,
- 47:06Speaker 1: you get your rematch against the Commanders, a game you
- 47:08Speaker 1: should have won last year but blew it on a
- 47:11Speaker 1: Hail Mary. And then you get the Saints. So you
- 47:13Speaker 1: got two of three games coming up that are winnable.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Commanders will be tough. I would say two of three
- 47:19Speaker 1: games are winnable. Win two of those three, Brian Johnson,
- 47:23Speaker 1: and I will start to question you less than your
- 47:26Speaker 1: coaching strategies. Eight twenty game, green Bay at Dallas. I
- 47:33Speaker 1: remember this being a playoff game a couple of years
- 47:35Speaker 1: ago and Dallas completely crapping the bed and Jordan Love
- 47:38Speaker 1: really coming alive. Now Green Bay goes into a Dallas.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Now do I judge Green Bay off of a complete
- 47:45Speaker 1: egg lay against the Browns a bad game for Jordan
- 47:49Speaker 1: Love or do I look at the bigger picture and say,
- 47:54Speaker 1: this Green Bay team is still very good. They failed
- 47:57Speaker 1: their first test away from Lambeau. Now they got a
- 47:59Speaker 1: big test in Dallas, where Micah Parsons will make his return.
- 48:05Speaker 1: I'm sure that might only be mentioned five, six hundred
- 48:08Speaker 1: and thirty two times between Tarico and Collinsworth. I'm sure
- 48:12Speaker 1: that it'll be the main storyline to me, the bigger storyline.
- 48:16Speaker 1: I guess Dallas is getting a little healthier in the secondary,
- 48:19Speaker 1: but I don't believe in that Dallas defense. It just
- 48:22Speaker 1: got shredded by the Bears. The Packers, I think are
- 48:26Speaker 1: better offensively than they showed. Now Jacobs is banged ups,
- 48:30Speaker 1: dealing with an injury. We'll see if he plays. If
- 48:32Speaker 1: he doesn't play, might be a totally different Green Bay
- 48:35Speaker 1: team because they rely on the run as much as
- 48:38Speaker 1: any you know, the Rams, the Eagles, any of those
- 48:41Speaker 1: teams that like to run the ball. Green Bay is
- 48:43Speaker 1: right up there. If Jacobs is banged up and not
- 48:45Speaker 1: one hundred percent advantage Dallas, the Green Bay are six
- 48:50Speaker 1: and a half point favorites. They should be six and
- 48:53Speaker 1: a half point favorites. That's Vegas not taking last week
- 48:56Speaker 1: into account. Well it is. It's taking last week because
- 48:58Speaker 1: the Cowboys also got their butts kicked in in Chicago.
- 49:02Speaker 1: I think green Bay win. I think Parsons is gonna
- 49:05Speaker 1: have a big game. Shocker there. I think Green Bay
- 49:09Speaker 1: is gonna win. It may not be as easy as
- 49:11Speaker 1: they've beaten the Cowboys in the past. I don't know
- 49:13Speaker 1: if they cover the six and a half. If Jacobs
- 49:16Speaker 1: is hurt and doesn't play or comes out, then it's
- 49:19Speaker 1: a closer game than you think. But the Packers should
- 49:21Speaker 1: win this game. Then you get two Monday night games again.
- 49:25Speaker 1: You got an AFSE snoozefest between the Jets and Dolphins. Folks,
- 49:34Speaker 1: I'm sorry you have to watch this on Monday night football.
- 49:36Speaker 1: That's all all I have to say. Miami found a
- 49:41Speaker 1: few things offensively, I guess in their last two weeks.
- 49:45Speaker 1: You know, they scored twenty seven against the Patriots, scored
- 49:47Speaker 1: twenty one against the Bills. Looked like Tua was doing
- 49:50Speaker 1: a better job of getting the ball to Tyreek Hill,
- 49:52Speaker 1: getting the ball to Waddle against the Bills. But their
- 49:55Speaker 1: defense absolutely stinks right now. Now we'll see if Justin
- 50:01Speaker 1: Fields can play. He was in the concussion protocol, but
- 50:04Speaker 1: he was out on the practice field. If he plays,
- 50:06Speaker 1: they're gonna try to run the ball. Can the Dolphins
- 50:10Speaker 1: stop the run? I don't. I don't know if the
- 50:12Speaker 1: Dolphins stop anything right now. The Jets are not an
- 50:16Speaker 1: offensive jugg or not, but they were representative in that
- 50:20Speaker 1: game against the Bucks. You know, they've blocked a field goal,
- 50:22Speaker 1: gave himself a chance. Only the Jets can block a
- 50:25Speaker 1: field goal and still lose the game. But they scored
- 50:27Speaker 1: twenty seven in that game, scored thirty two against the Steelers.
- 50:30Speaker 1: So against bad defenses or Bucks marks actually aren't a
- 50:35Speaker 1: bad defense. If they showed that they can do some things.
- 50:38Speaker 1: You know, their offensive line is better. They showed that
- 50:40Speaker 1: they can play a little bit. Can they expose the
- 50:44Speaker 1: doll If the Dolphins lose this game, I'll tell you this,
- 50:47Speaker 1: heads will roll. If the Dolphins go to zero to
- 50:49Speaker 1: four and owen that would be oh to two in
- 50:51Speaker 1: their own division and can't even beat the Jets, who
- 50:54Speaker 1: are themselves are oh to three, then heads will roll.
- 50:58Speaker 1: And it wouldn't surprise me if Mike McDaniel's days would
- 51:01Speaker 1: be numbered. I like Mike McDaniel, but you know he
- 51:04Speaker 1: hasn't done a very good job last year, last year,
- 51:06Speaker 1: and in the first three games this year. He needs
- 51:09Speaker 1: to win this game to save his job. The Dolphins
- 51:11Speaker 1: are two and a half point favorites. They should win
- 51:13Speaker 1: the game. Honestly, I think they're the better team, but
- 51:17Speaker 1: the Jets are not going to make it easy for them,
- 51:19Speaker 1: and if they lose, heads will roll in Miami. That
- 51:23Speaker 1: owner Stephen Ross, he is not gonna put up with
- 51:25Speaker 1: this for much longer. And then there's the Bengals at
- 51:30Speaker 1: the Broncos eight to fifteen. Broncos are seven and a
- 51:32Speaker 1: half point favorites. I know everybody is thinking right now
- 51:36Speaker 1: that the Broncos are just gonna roll on the Bengals
- 51:39Speaker 1: and Jake Browning. It's in Denver. Denver's defense is vicious,
- 51:43Speaker 1: can be vicious, and Jake Browning looked terrible. I'm not
- 51:46Speaker 1: in that camp. Do I think the Broncos will win, Yes,
- 51:50Speaker 1: I think they'll win. Do I think the Bengals will
- 51:52Speaker 1: struggle offensively? Yes, I think they'll struggle offensively. Do I
- 51:56Speaker 1: expect the Bengals to lose by thirty eight points, No,
- 52:01Speaker 1: I don't. I expect Zach Taylor to figure some things out.
- 52:04Speaker 1: They still have two very good wide receivers. They still
- 52:07Speaker 1: have a very good running back that they got to
- 52:09Speaker 1: figure out a way to get more involved as a
- 52:12Speaker 1: ball carrier, and they have to figure out a way
- 52:15Speaker 1: to play a little bit more ball control, which is short,
- 52:19Speaker 1: top rhythm passes underneath. They got to get the ball
- 52:22Speaker 1: out quickly because that Broncos pass rush is lethal. I
- 52:26Speaker 1: think Zach Taylor is a good coach and can do that.
- 52:29Speaker 1: I know they have offensive line issues. We all know
- 52:32Speaker 1: that that's gonna hurt them against the Broncos. For sure.
- 52:35Speaker 1: I'm not expecting him to win, But I don't expect
- 52:38Speaker 1: that just because they lost by thirty eight points to
- 52:40Speaker 1: the Vikings that they will just do the same against
- 52:44Speaker 1: the Broncos. Now, the good thing for Jake Browning is
- 52:47Speaker 1: when you play a team like the Vikings, you know
- 52:49Speaker 1: Brian Flora is gonna come at you every direction possible.
- 52:52Speaker 1: You really need to run the ball well to keep
- 52:56Speaker 1: Flores's defense off you, and they were not able to
- 52:58Speaker 1: do that against the Vikings. They're going to do a
- 53:00Speaker 1: better job against the Broncos. But vance Joseph is the
- 53:02Speaker 1: same way. He's gonna throw a thousand different blitzes at
- 53:06Speaker 1: Jake Browning. So if anything, Jay can take what he
- 53:09Speaker 1: saw against the Vikings and apply at him and the
- 53:11Speaker 1: offensive staff to what they're probably gonna see against the Broncos,
- 53:15Speaker 1: which is a whole lot of pressure from a whole
- 53:17Speaker 1: lot of different directions. It's just the way both of
- 53:19Speaker 1: those defensive coordinators are wired. I would expect the Broncos
- 53:23Speaker 1: to play a better I'm sorry, the Bengals to play
- 53:26Speaker 1: a better game. Do they win? Not looking good? But
- 53:30Speaker 1: I don't think. I'm not of the mindset that just
- 53:34Speaker 1: because they got their rear ends kicked in one week
- 53:37Speaker 1: by the Vikings, that that's automatically going to happen in Denver.
- 53:41Speaker 1: I still have questions about Denver's offense. The Broncos to me,
- 53:48Speaker 1: are a good team. But listen, they've lost their last
- 53:50Speaker 1: two games because they only score twenty against the Chargers
- 53:53Speaker 1: and they only score twenty eight against the Colts and
- 53:56Speaker 1: twenty against the Titans, So in two of three games
- 53:58Speaker 1: they've looked lackluster offensively. Bengals don't have a great defense. However,
- 54:04Speaker 1: it is still in my mind a question mark of
- 54:07Speaker 1: how good this Broncos offense is. They should win, though,
- 54:12Speaker 1: and those are the Monday night games. That is the
- 54:16Speaker 1: entire week for slate time for my picks that I
- 54:20Speaker 1: will make.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Sky Motor Cars and West Gutter there was a different
- 54:24Speaker 2: building dealers all the Texas one one with their highline
- 54:27Speaker 2: pre own vehicles and people over the country. What the
- 54:30Speaker 2: motor Bretchetler make sure you don't spend the time with
- 54:32Speaker 2: your money before you've purchased the car. Sky motor Cars
- 54:35Speaker 2: allows you to make all the decisions regarding your next vehicle.
- 54:39Speaker 2: At sky motor Cars, you never have to spend more
- 54:42Speaker 2: than necessary. Becaus a Skymotorcars dot com today are called
- 54:46Speaker 2: six ten, nine to one, eight seven five.
- 54:52Speaker 1: I did not do a good job for I think
- 54:54Speaker 1: this happened to me last year in Week two and
- 54:56Speaker 1: Week three where you're still feeling out teams. But I
- 54:59Speaker 1: went oh and three of my picks again last week
- 55:02Speaker 1: after doing it in week two. I'm pretty sure I
- 55:04Speaker 1: did the same thing last year, and by the end
- 55:06Speaker 1: of the year, I was way way and I think
- 55:08Speaker 1: I was my clip. My win clip was between sixty
- 55:11Speaker 1: five and sixty eight percent. So that's that's the what
- 55:14Speaker 1: you get. The first month. You get a lot of
- 55:16Speaker 1: games that you're just not sure of and some unpredictable outcomes.
- 55:19Speaker 1: But hey, no excuses. I'm two and seven overall after
- 55:23Speaker 1: a pretty good start. Last two weeks have really hurt
- 55:26Speaker 1: me this week. I like the Chargers to cover their
- 55:31Speaker 1: six and a half against the Giants. I just listen.
- 55:35Speaker 1: I think the Giants can get a spark from Jackson Dart,
- 55:38Speaker 1: but not enough to beat a Chargers team that is
- 55:40Speaker 1: rolling right now. So maybe it'll be close. Maybe it'll
- 55:43Speaker 1: be a six point game going into the fourth, but
- 55:45Speaker 1: I could see the Chargers then pulling away on a
- 55:47Speaker 1: late touchdown and winning by like thirteen fourteen points. I
- 55:51Speaker 1: like the Chiefs at home getting two and a half
- 55:55Speaker 1: against the Ravens only because I think the Ravens defense
- 55:59Speaker 1: is not look good and if the Chiefs are getting
- 56:01Speaker 1: worthy back now, they got to win under their belt.
- 56:04Speaker 1: They are underdogs at home again. I think that's the
- 56:07Speaker 1: second time in three weeks that they're underdogs at home.
- 56:10Speaker 1: That that can't go well with the home team. I
- 56:13Speaker 1: think that Spagnolo, he knows what the Ravens do. He'll
- 56:17Speaker 1: have a good plan and listen, I think it could
- 56:20Speaker 1: be a one point game even if the Ravens win
- 56:22Speaker 1: by one. I win because I'm taking the Chiefs to
- 56:24Speaker 1: cover the two and a half. I wish it were
- 56:27Speaker 1: three and a half or three, but at least get
- 56:30Speaker 1: that push. If it's a Ravens by a field goal. However,
- 56:33Speaker 1: two and a half, I'm willing to lay it on
- 56:34Speaker 1: the line there. And I like the Vikings to beat
- 56:36Speaker 1: the Steelers in Dublin. I think that I'm not basing
- 56:40Speaker 1: this off last week. I just think that the Vikings
- 56:42Speaker 1: are really good in the trenches, and I don't believe
- 56:45Speaker 1: in this Steelers offense right now. They can't run the
- 56:48Speaker 1: ball and that's gonna lead to Brian Flores teeing off
- 56:51Speaker 1: on Aaron Rodgers. And right now, Rodgers only has one
- 56:54Speaker 1: real legit weapon without a running game. It's dk Metcalf
- 56:58Speaker 1: and the Steelers just not have not and impressive. So
- 57:01Speaker 1: all Carson Wentz has to do is not turn the
- 57:03Speaker 1: ball over three, four or five times, which is always
- 57:06Speaker 1: a little rough. But Kevin O'Connell is good at hiding
- 57:09Speaker 1: his quarterback when he needs to, and I think the
- 57:12Speaker 1: Vikings will cover the two and a half against the Steelers.
- 57:16Speaker 1: So that's it. Those are my picks. That is the
- 57:19Speaker 1: inside the Birds. Week four, NFL Preview. Everybody as always,
- 57:22Speaker 1: enjoy your football watching
