- 0:29Good morning from the Can coop. So today we are talking about
- 0:34who you admire like who in this world do you sit there and say
- 0:37to yourself? Wow, I had really Meyer that
- 0:39person. I think that person has it all
- 0:43together. The reason we are talking about
- 0:46this is because sometimes when we start thinking about what
- 0:50other people Are out there that we really admire.
- 0:55Sometimes we admire what they get done.
- 0:59We don't necessarily admire their character and we rarely
- 1:04have the whole picture on this. So I thought it might be
- 1:08worthwhile to examine that in yourself and besides just
- 1:12looking out, like, who you admire, but do you think someone
- 1:15admires you? I mean, gosh, isn't that
- 1:18something interesting when someone says?
- 1:19Wow, I reg, I think that's awesome.
- 1:21Or I think Awesome. I really admire you for all that
- 1:24you're doing and this mess and I always say well it's not about
- 1:27what you're doing because most of us do lots of things.
- 1:32But the real thing is who are we, who are we behind the
- 1:34scenes? And I've had the privilege of
- 1:39working with some very high-profile people in my career
- 1:44and some of them while they got a lot done and they showed up a
- 1:48lot out in the face of the world.
- 1:50Sometimes, just behind the scenes, you were like Like, yo,
- 1:53this is really not good and what made me think of this as I got a
- 1:58call today and something was brought up to me and I was like,
- 2:01wow, that's really interesting because this is something that,
- 2:04you know, this person and I were talking about and she was saying
- 2:07how she had admired someone and then she found out something and
- 2:10it was really like, just very unappealing to her.
- 2:13And we look so hard at people for what they accomplished.
- 2:19We're constantly looking at accomplishments But we're not
- 2:23looking at who people really are and sure, part of who you really
- 2:27are, is your accomplishments. But I'm talking looking at them
- 2:31for character. Looking for them choices in the
- 2:34moments, really down dirty, taking a hard look at what parts
- 2:40of this. Don't I know.
- 2:42And why am I giving that so much weight in my world to say that
- 2:46they're great when I really don't know how great they are.
- 2:49My mother used to have this saying that if you met Met
- 2:52somebody, and they didn't like dogs, then she was just never
- 2:56going to click with that person. And I used to laugh at that when
- 3:00I was a kid because I would be like, really like that.
- 3:02Seemed like it was kind of silly, but then, as I got older,
- 3:05I started thinking about it and I'm like, well, that really does
- 3:07speak to character, doesn't it? Like if you don't like a dog,
- 3:10does that speak to character? And then I started, you know,
- 3:12being a coach and questioning it.
- 3:14Well does that speak to that? Or is that just because I love
- 3:16dogs because I have to examine everything six ways to Sunday.
- 3:20So you know, For me, personally, I do happen to think that there
- 3:27is something to be said for really looking at the character
- 3:30of the person as opposed to their accomplishments and there
- 3:34are people that we align with and there are people that we
- 3:37don't align with. Like for instance years ago when
- 3:41I was dating and someone said I don't like dogs will you were
- 3:45not my person because I was going to have dogs and I was
- 3:48going to have big dogs and I was going to have obviously lots of
- 3:51chickens. and I think that sometimes, We don't, we don't
- 3:58necessarily ask those poignant deep questions because we're so
- 4:03used to just putting our resume out there of accomplishments and
- 4:08that resume of accomplishments, is so important in this Society.
- 4:12But is it really? So, I could sit there and I
- 4:15could talk to you all the time about the stuff that I've gotten
- 4:17done and you might not even know who I am as a person.
- 4:22And I guess the point of this today is to really make you
- 4:26think Who you're spending your time with who you're giving your
- 4:29admiration to because you don't want that to be given in a way
- 4:35that isn't worthy, you want to give it to people who really
- 4:38deserve it. Who people who, you know,
- 4:41absolutely. Will I just worthy of it in that
- 4:46case and I think that when you start to think about who admires
- 4:51you who, you know, who's that person, that's looking up to
- 4:54you. Well then Can ask yourself, am I
- 4:57being the person that I want them to admire or my being the
- 5:01person that I'm ashamed of them admiring?
- 5:05You know? Oftentimes, our behavior is not
- 5:10something that we're proud of. I know myself, I have, you know,
- 5:14a tendency to get really annoyed with stupid things that are just
- 5:19absolutely nonsensical and I shouldn't get annoyed with them.
- 5:22You know, we've talked about this before where the dishwasher
- 5:25little messy. Whatever it is, I'm not proud of
- 5:27that. And I talk about it because it's
- 5:30still something that bothers me. It's still like if I walk in and
- 5:33the counters are cluttered, I get like, ah, why do I have such
- 5:37a reaction? I shouldn't it represents the
- 5:40people that I love being in the house and I should be calm about
- 5:44that. But that this comes back to, you
- 5:46know, am I being the person that somebody else could be proud of
- 5:51them, right? Being the person that I'm not
- 5:52proud of. In this moment.
- 5:53I wouldn't want someone else to see it.
- 5:55So it's just Just some food for thought today, something for you
- 5:58to consider about yourself and about who you're giving your
- 6:01attention to. So I hope you all have a very
- 6:04blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 6:08Bye. Just some food for thought
- 5:57today, something for you to consider about yourself and
- 6:00about who you're giving your attention to.
- 6:03So I hope you all have a very blessed day and I will see you
- 6:07all tomorrow. Bye.
