- 0:57SPEAKER_00: For 11 generations, the Neely family has been making whiskey.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Long before there was a distillery in Sparta, Kentucky, there were family recipes, copper stills, moonshine runs, and a tradition passed from one generation to the next.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Today, that history lives on at Neely Family Distillery.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Here, whiskey is made with sweet mash fermentation, open-top cypress fermenters, and copper pot stills.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: But history here doesn't just sit behind glass.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: An original French absinthe still built in the 1890s is still producing spirits today.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: And now a brand new three-chamber column still begins another chapter.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Old World Tradition, modern innovation.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Eleven generations later, the Neely family is still doing what they've always done.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Making whiskey.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Neely Family Distillery.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Come find your bottle.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: For more information, visit Neely Family Distillery.

- 3:40SPEAKER_02: Now, I did an internet search and I use a combination of my own searching.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: I used AI from YouTube and I used Chat GPT to come up with according to the internet, what are the best five bangs for your bottles?
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: You know, what what are you getting the best bang per bottle for your book?
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: And we'll go into that and everything, but for right now, all right, Kirk is in the house.

- 7:06SPEAKER_02: The growth that's been happening lately, we are we are rocking and rolling, we are going for forward.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: You've got fit, we got 50,000 followers on Facebook, we've got 70, almost 77,000 followers on YouTube.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: That's not a small amount, and you guys, we greatly appreciate you.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: But that brings us tonight to the internet versus our Scotchy Bourbon, my Scotchy Bourbon boy, is the versus that the the the competition, but I'm gonna explain how the five bourbons were chosen from reviewer recommendations and enthusiast conversations.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: The Scotchy Bourbon, we're talking about something every bourbon drinker loves: getting more bourbon for less money.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: And that's where it comes bang for your buck.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: The internet says these five bottles are the best bang for your buck.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: But do I think so?
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: Now, of the five bottles, I think there's a few bottles that are better than these.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: And it was put it this way the Chat GPT was saying, can I come up with five bottles that kick these five bottles asses?
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: And the answer to that, honestly, is I'm not gonna be able to come up with five bottles that kick these five bottles asses because the five bottles that are there that we're talking about are good bottles.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: And for the price, I agree that these are bang for your buck bottles.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: And the number, the number five, according to the internet, was Evan Williams bottled in bond.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: It's a hundred-proof bourbon, and it is between 17 and 23 dollars.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: I I mean, there's Fred Minnick has talked about it, uh, we have talked about it, and Evan Williams Bottled and Bond is a solid bourbon.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: It's always on the shelf.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: It's not a sought-after, can't have you can get this bourbon, these five bourbons that I'm talking about, with what the internet came up with for bang for your buck, is you can get the bang for your buck.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: I mean, an Evan Williams bottled in bond.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Let's see.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: I got it right here.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: So, where it comes from the Fred Mini's wine tasting in his 2019 everyday bourbon competition, Evan Williams Bottled and Bond won.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: Now, Evan Williams Bottled and Bond was a Reddit discussion and it tied among the ones that we're talking about.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: And as far as tasting notes, Evan Williams, to me, as a brand, and the bottled and bond is one of those bourbon brands that depicts it'll pick up some like slight caramel notes.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: It's very, it always reminds me of it has a flavor of what I consider bourbon.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: It's got a little bit of the corn grain sweetness, the barrel sweetness overall, it's a just a solid pour.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: And for$17 to$23, how can you go wrong?
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: You can't.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: It's like if you're in this because you drink bourbon and you like bourbon, you're not chasing and whatever.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: This is a solid bottle, and you get it banged for your buck.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: Now, as according to the internet, coming in at four is this early times.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: It's their they're bottled in bond and it's a hundred-proof.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Now, the one bottle I have isn't the current early times bottle.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: They came up with a new one and everybody freaked out that it was different and they don't like it.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: But at my liquor store, I saw the new bottle for a while, and then this bottle was reinstated.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: So on this one, I have to say, when it comes to the internet, number four right here, this early times, is by far the best bang for my buck bottle that's on this list.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Now, I've had all of them on this list.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: I agree they're all good, but at four, I disagree.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: This this bottle is between 23 and$30.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: It is a one-liter at$23 to$30.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: It's not a$750.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: And at$100 proof, it was and is still.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: Since I've gotten into whiskey and bourbon, I have a I have a huge collection with bottle more bottles than I'll ever be able to drink.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: And the one bottle that has been purchased over and over with a bang for a buck is this early times.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: Well, yes, 114 is great.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: That is a good purchase.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: Old granddad 114 and re just chimed in there.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: But I will tell you, not a bottle in bond, but a hundred proof.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: Early times, bourbon.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Well, what it let's see.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: What are we talking about here?
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: I literally just found the tabs for Spotify podcasts.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: I have had Apple phones for my last six.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: Okay, what are we talking about?
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: Cooper's Craft.
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: That I I have had that before, Ed.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: It's it's it's it's a it's a good pour.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: And once I think that's in the 30s.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: And anyways, but this pour, based off of my record, we've made bourbon balls with this many times.
- 13:54SPEAKER_02: I've purchased, I believe, I went to purchase my 10th bottle, and that's here.
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: So the ninth bottle and then the 10th.
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: So it's the one bottle in my collection that I've drank and drained more than any bottle that I have, even high-end, low end.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: I don't think I'm on my 10th.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: I now have I think seven, I got four old carters, five, six old carters here now, and I probably drank two, so that would be seven, eight, but I'm not even close to finish.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: These are those are expensive, those aren't big for, but I'm just talking about finishing bottles consistently of a brand and early times bottled in bond for me, which is number four on the list.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: That one is mine would be my number one off this list.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: And you know, I'm checking out what you guys, what you guys are saying out there, and then yeah, the old so let's go quick.
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: I've got this in this is what I've got I I've pulled that bottle out.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: I do have the bottled in Bon Evan Williams.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: The next one I have the not the next one, and then the the first number one for them.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: I don't have a bottle of that here, but I'm very familiar with the taste of it because I can tell you a story about it.
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: And so at this level, the caramel on it's fantastic.
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: It's always got rich caramel notes to it, but it's mixed with fall flavors of maybe some currant, some really ripe plums, or a little bit of a raisin aspect.
- 15:48SPEAKER_02: It's got a really suit uh the the viscosity on it.
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: The you know this one does it for me.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: It makes great bourbon balls, it's a good sipper, it makes great old fashioned.
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: This one for$23 to$30 for a liter, this is would be my top that it's on the list.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: Okay, so so the internet saying that's number four.
- 16:23SPEAKER_02: So at three is old granddad bonded, 100 proof,$22 to$30.
- 16:30SPEAKER_02: Now, so far there's a lot of chime ins about old granddad 114.
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: That's better, and that's kind of in the range of what what what's what not, but they're talking about bang for buck.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: And I would ask you, that might even be a podcast.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: If we took old granddad bonded, and let's um quick do a search on.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: I don't want to do that there.
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: Where would I want to do a search?
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: Well, if Walker was on, I would ask him how well is anybody on know how much old grandad114 is right now.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: I can do that search right here.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: I'll do it here.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: I don't have a keyboard, but I can get one.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: We'll do it.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: All right, old.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Tell me right off the bat.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: There we go.
- 18:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, old grandad is like a 32 to 35 dollar bottle, and that's that's reasonable, I think.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: No, no, I think y'all think that too.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: And but it's ten dollars more than old granddad bonded, if that's at 32, and old granddad bonded is sitting at 22, 22 to 30, but 22 on the low end.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's a high quality, it's it's basil Hayden.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, realistically, this is the same juice that they make that old grandad distillery.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: Basil Hayden is at 80 proof, put out as higher end, you know, they pick the right barrels and batches and they proof it to 80 and put it out in a really nice bottle, but the the juice is old granddad.
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: So they're never gonna have Basil Hayden bonded because that's old granddad.
- 19:26SPEAKER_02: And they're never gonna have basil Hayden, you know, you know, 114 because a higher proof or barrel proof, because that's just all old grandad.
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: So, you know, when you're looking at them changing something, you know, that's what that's what you're looking at right now for old granddad.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: I think 114 does it for me a little bit, but I don't know if that's a ten dollar.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: The ten, it's it really comes down to this one is bang for buck, okay?
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: So number two is knob creek nine year.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: That's$30 to$38.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: Most of the time I see it for about$36 here in Ohio.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: And Knob Creek 9 is when it put back the age statement, they took it off for a while and they put it back on.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: The quality of Knob Creek is just a fantastic, fantastic pour.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: And for that$30 to$36 range, it fits the bill of bourbon.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I can I don't need to pull it out and taste it because I do love, I agree, Knob Creek nine years should be on this.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: I would say, based off of my purchasing over the last nine years, Knob Creek is this, it would be the second bottle.
- 20:59SPEAKER_02: I've purchased also many, uh we'll get into what my tops are, you know, and we we already have that.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: So then you've got number one on the internet, which is Wild Turkey 101, that sits between 22 and 28, readily available all the time, all the time.
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: And it is a it is a quality pour.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: Now, I like wild turkey, but this would not be, this would not make my list, and it's making the internet and people who talk about it lists all the time.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: It's good.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: I'm not saying that I wouldn't drink it or there's no bang for buck.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: It has the bang for buck, but me personally, it wouldn't make this list, and um, as we go about my list, you'll see what I'm talking about because I compiled my list first, and then I asked AI in two different places and did some research and found out what the internet would be saying is the top five.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: So, and the Wild Turkey 101, although would be in my top definitely for bang for buck is in my top 10, it just doesn't crack my top five.
- 22:19SPEAKER_02: Now, uh what does bang for your buck actually mean?
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: Price, proof, flavor, finish, consistency.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: But bang for your buck for me really is those home run bottles.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: Is a$25 bottle that tastes like a$50 bottle, or is it a bottle better value than a$60 bottle that tastes like a$100 bottle?
- 22:54SPEAKER_02: Does higher proof mean better value?
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: When it's bang for your buck, I how important is availability?
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: Well, when you're talking about bang for your buck, I think most everything that you're usually talking about has a good availability because it's on the shelf and reasonably priced for what it is, and that's where, in my opinion, you get a really good bang for your buck.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: And can and then can allocated bourbon get in as a bang for your buck, or should it be a daily sipper?
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: Well, I think if the allocated bourbon is in the price range, and my price range, I think my Cutoff point is right at 65 bucks for to be a bang for your buck.
- 23:49SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: I l, I, you know, but also the reason why I cut it off at 65 is because honestly, and this is honest to God, I don't think there's any, if we'll just let's just take the staple of what we're talking about right now.
- 24:10SPEAKER_02: Let's take this early times, which is a really good bang for your buck bottle.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: Let's take this bottle at twenty, let's just say twenty-six dollars.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: I don't care what I'm drinking.
- 24:29SPEAKER_02: If I had to put a price on how much better can a whiskey actually taste than that, and I had to put a price on it.
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: One.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: And we're not talking about availability, we're not talking about, you know, exclusivity.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: Because he exclusivity affects price.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: And we're that's not what we're talking about.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: But I don't think there's a bourbon in the world that when you take this bottle here and they've made it and they put it in a Nom Creek 9, I don't think there's a bottle in the world where the flavor is once$75 more than the flavor here.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: When you're talking flavor, and if you had to put a price on it, I've tasted a lot of damn good whiskey.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: I've tasted from bottles that are$800,$1,000, bottles that are$200, and that you obtain.
- 25:39SPEAKER_02: And yes, a$200 bottle of whiskey is good, but you're not getting when you talk about bang for your buck, you're paying$200.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: And that, and this one you're paying$25.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: So is that difference between the$200 bottle and the$25$175 better?
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: And my answer is there's no bourbon that's that much better than another.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: If this is$25 and it tastes like this, I think not like the top 1.01% tasting quality, but when I'm talking about a really good bourbon, I think$65 would be the cutoff for me,$25 to$65.
- 26:31SPEAKER_02: That it would does it, you know, when it's 200 and this is 25, it's almost 10 times more expensive, but it's not 10 times better in taste.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: The other thing is there's a lot of people like to drink, and then there's the part about becoming intoxicated.
- 26:51SPEAKER_02: That is one of the reasons why people drink because you can have uh a feeling of intoxication, and all of them do it.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: So there's that, you know, there's that.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: So I think we've just established$65 for me.
- 27:13SPEAKER_02: And we've gone to this is Wild Turkey 101, but it I I I it makes my top 10 for bang for buck, but it doesn't make my top five.
- 27:22SPEAKER_02: So what we're gonna do is talk about my top five.
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: And this one here, the early times, I have this one, and we'll talk about this.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: And I think it's just I've proven it over and over by how many bottles I bought.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: I didn't buy, I've not bought this, I've not bought 10 bottles of knob creek nine year.
- 27:50SPEAKER_02: I've bought other knob creeks.
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: I bought single barrels, I've got a lot of those, but those aren't the blend of nine-year Jim Beam, Knob Creek, bourbon.
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: The blend is what we're talking about because we're talking about bang for buck.
- 28:06SPEAKER_02: Single barrels don't really ever enter into bang for buck because it's one off.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: And if I told you about it, you couldn't buy it anyways.
- 28:16SPEAKER_02: And who wants to know about a bang for buck bottle that is only around and it's gone already while I'm talking about it?
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: So that's why single barrels are out in my in my honest, humble opinion.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: Now, I will start.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: I gotta remember, okay, so my four, and there there's easily my four.
- 28:39SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 28:40SPEAKER_02: Okay, so at the bottom, I really feel Russell's reserve.
- 28:51SPEAKER_02: I think it's six or is it ten?
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: I think this is a single barrel that we were talking about.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: But Russell's reserve, not the private barrels, but Russell's reserve in there.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: I think that's, in my opinion, a Russell's reserve for bang for your buck.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: A regular, you know, I think it's the 10 year, Russell's Reserve tenure.
- 29:13SPEAKER_02: I believe that's a better bang for your buck bottle.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: I agree with John.
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: That is a really good number five for me.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: So we got Russell's Reserve.
- 29:33SPEAKER_02: Hanging out, tenure, hanging out in number five.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: Now, all right.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: My next one, which I'm currently out of because this one I bought and I drank is Old Tub, which is a bottled in bond, and I absolutely love Old Tub.
- 29:56SPEAKER_02: So, Russell's Reserve, Old Tub.
- 29:59SPEAKER_02: Old Tub singularly has the flavor, and it's not always out.
- 30:06SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's they they don't put it out year-round.
- 30:09SPEAKER_02: You're not always walking in and finding old tub, but they do put it on the shelf, I believe, twice a year.
- 30:15SPEAKER_02: And it's a bottled in bond, and in my opinion, that one is a singular bourbon that I will drink that I don't have to think about and I just enjoy.
- 30:33SPEAKER_02: And I like it, it's better than the Jim Beam because a lot of times the nutty flavor of Jim Beam and whatever, and there's also some other flavors in there that you know I spent my whole life as a kid trying to get around those flavors.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: So then, so now we're we're at Russell's Reserve 10.
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: Then you're looking at old tub, and old tub came out initially at 18 bucks.
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: I think it's I think I'll give it as the same as Evan Williams bottled in bond.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: Now, my next is so 5'4 old tub, and then I do put early times in this line.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: I just I've I I just had it tonight.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna be, I'm not drinking a lot, but early times bottled in bond is spectacular.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: I mean, I now our other sponsors, which are Neely, which I love, their old Jet Brothers, but those are like$70,$80 finishing bourbons.
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: I like their hidden barn, a few of their hidden barn batches, and though, but once again, they're not in the bang for your buck category as a small distillery.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: And then at Whiskey Thief, because everything's a single barrel and everything comes out, it's still a higher-end purchase that we're not talking about bang for your buck, although I do believe what you're paying for and what you get is a good deal.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: I probably would have it in like the 10 range because I believe a bottle there is like 149 before you leave.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: And, you know, that's just a little bit high when you're talking, and when we just talked about, does it go from, you know, that's more exclusivity?
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: It tastes damn good.
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: I'm not there's nothing about that, whatever.
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: But Middle West Spirits, our sponsor, which is on the shelves everywhere.
- 32:45SPEAKER_02: They have weeded four-grain bourbon and a pumper nickel rye, along with this straight wheat whiskey that's here.
- 32:56SPEAKER_02: But the bourbon from Middle West at cast strength at$65.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: I'm going with.
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: And then at a tie for second, I have to get this because I think I have it right here.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: I want to say I do.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: Yes, this is it.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: A tie for second, bang for your buck, is this dark arts Mizanara.
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: These two are on the shelves in Ohio, folks, and I think these two at the$65 price range are two freaking fantastic bang for your buck bottles.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: You got the early times, the old tub, and the Russell's, what which is probably now down to six, because when I was doing this, I so now we got an old tub would be sitting right here.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: But now, at number one, and I have to agree with this 100%, in my opinion, Wild Turkey Rare Breed at$49.99, that's what it is here,$50, is by far.
- 34:30SPEAKER_02: I think Wild Turkey Rare Breed is right there with Booker's, but Booker's is a hundred dollars a bottle.
- 34:35SPEAKER_02: Wild Turkey Rare Breed is one of the things that got me into barrel strength bourbon.
- 34:45SPEAKER_02: The first time I ever tasted it, it's got such a rich caramely flavor, but let's see.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: Now in this, I mean, there was a lot of stuff for re reasonably price.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: For dollar for dollar, what would you guys put up against this?
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think this is we're looking at a lineup of bang for your buck.
- 35:33SPEAKER_02: The internet put it out there.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: I think somewhat its internet out there didn't hasn't taken account the new people, but the new people are right there.
- 35:47SPEAKER_02: So the Scotchy Bourbon Boys tonight, according to Tiny, the top five are rare breed wild turkey, which wins the I just love this because of the the bang for your buck.
- 36:03SPEAKER_02: I mean, you're talking$50 cast strength whiskey that is just awesome.
- 36:12SPEAKER_02: The the flavor of the batch and the caramel that comes through.
- 36:19SPEAKER_02: I the it just delivers now.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: As I go through, I'm going to just quickly try and sip a couple of them.
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: I wonder if I know I got the pumpernickel rye there, but do I have?
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: I think this is the other pumpernickel rye.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: I'm trying not to okay.
- 37:07SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay, so this is the straight point.
- 37:12SPEAKER_02: Straight.
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: That's interesting.
- 37:32SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 37:35SPEAKER_02: I got two straight wheat with cats, and then I got this one.
- 37:39SPEAKER_02: And this is barrel one.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: What what is that one?
- 37:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:47SPEAKER_02: Oh, this is a barrel select.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: I I don't even know how I got this.
- 37:55SPEAKER_02: Straight wheat whiskey cast strength.
- 37:57SPEAKER_02: What do I spirits barrel select?
- 38:01SPEAKER_02: That's interesting.
- 38:03SPEAKER_02: Did not know.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: But I have this cast strength.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: Okay, so that's really interesting.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 38:20SPEAKER_02: Let's see.
- 38:21SPEAKER_02: Okay, so I know what rare breed tastes like.
- 38:24SPEAKER_02: Now we're gonna hit the dark arts.
- 38:26SPEAKER_02: This Mizanara.
- 38:28SPEAKER_02: Now the this Mizanara, let's hit this real quick for the is a hundred-proof.
- 38:37SPEAKER_02: And it is finished with toasted Mizanara oak staves.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: $65.
- 38:45SPEAKER_02: I don't know how it can be any cheaper for a Mizanara stave finished whiskey.
- 39:00SPEAKER_02: A little bit oakier, toasty oak than this is the little bit, but they're right in their same the wheelhouse.
- 39:09SPEAKER_02: Same thing with this one.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: I mean, you are talking some damn good.
- 39:16SPEAKER_02: Some damn good whiskey.
- 39:26SPEAKER_02: That wheat whiskey's delicious.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: And then you put in the early times.
- 39:32SPEAKER_02: So there you have it, folks.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: I believe the gym bean winter blend is solid.
- 39:42SPEAKER_02: I have that.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: That's a good one.
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: For$24.
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: I agree with that.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: That gets that gets in there.
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: So seven year.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: Wild Turkey is solid.
- 40:08SPEAKER_02: That's Greg Schneider throwing in there, of course.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: Kirk likes Knob Creek and old old granddad bottled and bond in 114, yes.
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: And then we had Cooper's Craft.
- 40:22SPEAKER_02: That's what everybody threw in there.
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: All right, so right there, oh, thank you, Kirk.
- 40:27SPEAKER_02: Wild Turkey Rare Breed Touche is what Kirk said on his super chat.
- 40:36SPEAKER_02: I and then William.
- 40:43SPEAKER_02: He does like the pumper nickel rye cast strength at Middle West Spirits.
- 40:51SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 40:52SPEAKER_02: Thank you for watching, William.
- 40:55SPEAKER_02: All right, so that pretty much wraps us up for tonight.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: I'm already paying a little bit of attention to what's going on, so we'll have to see.
- 41:06SPEAKER_02: I was hurrying to get to be able to.
- 41:10SPEAKER_02: So based off the internet, the one the one thing that made it tonight was early times.
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: Made both, to me, made both of the top solid whiskeys.
- 41:22SPEAKER_02: I would say that after this, my five, that knobcreek is in there for it, old granddad is in there for it, and Evan Williams bottled in Bond.
- 41:40SPEAKER_02: Wild Turkey 101, probably at 10.
- 41:44SPEAKER_02: And then as far as putting one more in, I mean, everybody's trying to put the 114 granddad at 32.
- 41:52SPEAKER_02: I think you could do that.
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: I think, but I think if I was going to do it, I would I would replace well, old granddad bottled in bond at 22 to 30.
- 42:03SPEAKER_02: It's just that is where these are the staples of the base of good bourbon.
- 42:11SPEAKER_02: And when you start to go out further, a lot of things other than taste come in.
- 42:18SPEAKER_02: Now, don't get me wrong, a$200 bottle of old Carter has some phenomenal taste.
- 42:23SPEAKER_02: But do I really think when I drink old Carter and then I take a sip of Rare Breed, that at$50 Rare Breed sitting there and old Carter sitting at 200, and it that's$150 better as far as flavor?
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: I the only way I'm gonna get that, you have to pay the price to get what you what what that flavor, but does it actually translate?
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: No, it's just being able to get it.
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: It's exclusive, it's exclusivity.
- 42:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, old Carter Social Club.
- 42:57SPEAKER_02: It's like you go there, you do the tasting, everything's great.
- 43:00SPEAKER_02: If you taste in a Rick House with Greg Schneider, most everything coming out of those barrels is going to be delicious.
- 43:07SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's all I can say.
- 43:09SPEAKER_02: If they put good stuff in and you're doing it, it's always the time that makes stuff so much better.
- 43:15SPEAKER_02: And that's where we're at.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: So I think this one, let's see.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: I can, I don't want, I wasn't gonna score it.
- 43:36SPEAKER_02: Now all I'm gonna say is I do believe rare braids the king.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: That's what I go with of bang for your buck.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's just just is availability, everything.
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: I will, you know, right close behind it is the Middle West Spirits four-grain weeded weeded bourbon and middle and uh dark arts Mizanara finished bourbon.
- 44:09SPEAKER_02: So that's where we're at, everybody.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: And I am going to we we hit the time, and I think that podcast went well.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: And I'm gonna sign off, everybody.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: Thanks for joining us.
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: I will throw it out to Zoom for a couple minutes, but$29 a bottle is a win, also.
- 44:33SPEAKER_02: John Ritz says he throws in the Buffalo Trace.
- 44:38SPEAKER_02: I think Buffalo Trace is good, but I don't think it cracks my top 10.
- 44:43SPEAKER_02: I mean, I like it, it's caramely.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: Old tub.
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's tough to crack the top 10.
- 44:54SPEAKER_02: Is Buffalo Trace better than Wild Turkey 101?
- 44:58SPEAKER_02: That would be what I'd have to do for it to crack the top 10.
- 45:03SPEAKER_02: Yes, but tonight, if you watch the the show, I gave you my five bottles or and then the internet has five bottles that are fantastic.
- 45:14SPEAKER_02: So right now, you have, based off of what happened, because early times was in both, you have the ability to go out and taste, not get nine whiskeys that are fantastic.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: Bang for your buck.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: All right, so there we go, everybody.
- 45:34SPEAKER_02: Remember www.scotchyburbonboys.com for all things Scotchy Bourbon Boys, t shirts, glens, and then also remember.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: We are on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Access.
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: Thank you, Kirk, for giving us a five star on Apple.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: Always go with Russell's 10-year-old.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: Okay, Greg Schneider throws in, in his opinion, he throws in Russell's 10.
- 46:00SPEAKER_02: And Russell's 10 dropped into out of the top five for me, but into it was in it was number six.
- 46:07SPEAKER_02: So it's it's it's it's a good good whiskey.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: Let's see what that just said.
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: Alright, it's getting crazy in in LA.
- 46:23SPEAKER_02: So love being able to bring what bourbon that you can get that gives you the best bang for your buck, especially if you're beginning any of these.
- 46:38SPEAKER_02: All of these are so recommended as far as what you should start your collection with.
- 46:43SPEAKER_02: I don't think you can go wrong.
- 46:45SPEAKER_02: A couple other ones were added in, like the Buffalo Trace, that's probably one that you would want.
- 46:50SPEAKER_02: I'm not, there's it's just just that there's a lot of spectacular bourbons out there for a reasonable price.
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: You don't have to break the bank to have a decent bourbon collection.
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: I'm just telling you, for 50 bucks, wild turkey rare breed for me is and has always been one of the highlights and fun things to drink, as far as when it comes to bourbon.
- 47:16SPEAKER_02: And they do a great job at Wild Turkey with this.
- 47:20SPEAKER_02: It stays very, very consistent and it's a it's a barrel strength.
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: And a barrel strength for$49.99.
- 47:28SPEAKER_02: When I first started, it was$36 for a barrel strength while Booker's sits at like$100.
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: I understand you get a big box, you get a bunch of stuff.
- 47:40SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 47:41SPEAKER_02: But Randy, we we we set the parameter$65.
- 47:45SPEAKER_02: When you get into an$80 bottle, you're getting up there too much to be a bang for your buck.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: That's all I'm gonna say.
- 47:52SPEAKER_02: $80 is a high price, people.
- 47:56SPEAKER_02: You've lost the bang for your buck.
- 47:58SPEAKER_02: You are basically now getting a pop for your buck.
- 48:07SPEAKER_02: Or, you know, you're getting your money's worth, put it that way.
- 48:10SPEAKER_02: But we're talking about bang for your buck.
- 48:13SPEAKER_02: Like, you get more than your money's worth.
- 48:15SPEAKER_02: And at the cutoff is like to get more than your money's worth is$65.
- 48:20SPEAKER_02: If you're paying$280 or you're paying$80 for a bottle, that's not bang.
- 48:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, JTS Brown can do that also.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: That's not a bad bottle.
- 48:31SPEAKER_02: But I don't think it cracks the my top 10.
- 48:34SPEAKER_02: I've had it.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: I love mellow corn.
- 48:37SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of stuff out there that is similar to what we're doing, but at the same time, the flavors that are put that we that I put out in my top five, usually JTS Brown, it does not quite fit into there.
- 48:54SPEAKER_02: So I do like it though.
- 48:56SPEAKER_02: There's no doubt about it.
- 48:58SPEAKER_02: All right, there we go.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: I am going to say good bourbon equals good times and good friends.
- 49:06SPEAKER_02: Make sure that you drink responsibly, don't drink and drive, and live your life uncut and unfiltered.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: And here we go.
- 49:21SPEAKER_02: AI will take us out.
- 50:01SPEAKER_04: How you play it out when you walk through that, don't you?
