Latest / Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered / World Series Game 4 REACTION: Rays SURVIVE SWEEP, WALK OFF Brewers to FORCE Game 5 | Ross & Rizzo
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to another episode of Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Game 4 is in the books. Rossi, the Rays winning
- 0:07Speaker 1: 4-3 at the Trop in 12 innings. We had a
- 0:12Speaker 1: doozy of a game, Rossi. The bullpens were dominant. Cooper
- 0:17Speaker 1: Pratt was an absolute stud. But in the end, it's
- 0:21Speaker 1: the walk-off by the Rays to save another day. We
- 0:25Speaker 1: have another day of baseball, Rossi.
- 0:29Speaker 2: That was a long one, bro. That was a long one.
- 0:31Speaker 2: A lot of non-drama in the middle, like four through nine,
- 0:36Speaker 2: ten innings, and then got a little crazy there at
- 0:39Speaker 2: the end, obviously. But the Trop was rocking. A lot
- 0:42Speaker 2: of Brewers fans here, bro.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Dude, I am so disappointed in the Tampa Bay fans, right?
- 0:50Speaker 2: World Series.
- 0:52Speaker 1: World Series, and on TV, bro, it is– It sounds
- 0:57Speaker 1: louder when the Brewers are doing something than the Rays, right?
- 1:01Speaker 2: No doubt. How does that happen, honestly?
- 1:04Speaker 1: I mean, it was like that yesterday, too, when they
- 1:08Speaker 1: were only down 2-0. Today they're down 3-0, so I
- 1:10Speaker 1: can understand, all right, maybe fans don't want to see
- 1:13Speaker 1: their team lose on their home turf. But, man, dude,
- 1:16Speaker 1: like Tampa fans are– I just feel like they're– you don't–
- 1:22Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what to make of that.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Because on TV, you're like, this is a home game
- 1:26Speaker 1: for the Brewers.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know how it is. I think that's
- 1:30Speaker 2: the norm. The players got to be used to that.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Like when, you know, guys, you just remember in the
- 1:35Speaker 2: Red Sox, Yankees, guys come in to play them. It's
- 1:39Speaker 2: always a home game for the visiting team. But there
- 1:42Speaker 2: are a lot of Rays fans there. I got to
- 1:44Speaker 2: give some. They're showing out. There's some celebs around. It's
- 1:48Speaker 2: just the Brew crew. fans have come down they're like
- 1:51Speaker 2: i want to go to florida in some warm weather
- 1:54Speaker 2: it's a cheaper ticket i got a cheap flight you
- 1:56Speaker 2: know like there's a they're like the hotel i can
- 1:59Speaker 2: get all that instead of paying whatever tickets we're going
- 2:01Speaker 2: for up in milwaukee so um.
- 2:04Speaker 1: They showed out look if just as a brewers fan
- 2:08Speaker 1: right as a milwaukee brewers fan be selfish i need
- 2:12Speaker 1: you guys to all be selfish right now your team
- 2:14Speaker 1: is one win away from winning the world series Wouldn't
- 2:17Speaker 1: it be that much better if they clinched at home?
- 2:20Speaker 2: Right?
- 2:21Speaker 1: So, let's just hope.
- 2:23Speaker 2: For a good game tomorrow.
- 2:25Speaker 1: All the people who have tickets to game six, right?
- 2:27Speaker 1: Let's let them clinch at home so the Rays can
- 2:30Speaker 1: win another game tomorrow, make it 3-2, and make this
- 2:33Speaker 1: thing really.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Interesting, Rossi. Clinching at home is better. I got to
- 2:36Speaker 2: clinch once at home and once on the road, and
- 2:39Speaker 2: there's nothing better than clinching at home. That's for sure.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Partying in your own city with your own fans, it's electric,
- 2:45Speaker 2: but Let's get to this game, bro. Like, we had
- 2:48Speaker 2: so much going on back and forth. The bullpens, just
- 2:52Speaker 2: the mixing and matching. I thought Nick Martinez was a
- 2:55Speaker 2: huge piece for the Tampa Bay Rays settling in. Griffin Jacks,
- 2:59Speaker 2: the start. I had him for the WBC. I've mentioned
- 3:02Speaker 2: that before, but I had him in the bullpen. He
- 3:05Speaker 2: is an absolute stud, a guy, a bullpen guy that
- 3:08Speaker 2: Tampa acquired to make him a starter. And he's done
- 3:11Speaker 2: a really nice job. He talked about, we had him
- 3:14Speaker 2: on set afterwards, talked about just childhood dreams, starting in
- 3:19Speaker 2: a game in the World Series, starting game four particularly,
- 3:24Speaker 2: and then being able to have a great performance. He
- 3:27Speaker 2: pitched really well. He ran out a little bit of
- 3:28Speaker 2: gas there at the end, tired all the adrenaline, but
- 3:32Speaker 2: I thought he threw the ball really, really well. Dustin
- 3:34Speaker 2: May starting, kind of opening a little bit for those guys,
- 3:37Speaker 2: threw the ball good, and then they rolled out the horses, man.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Both bullpens pitched phenomenally, and I think Tampa Bay's bullpen
- 3:46Speaker 2: finally stepped up and matched them pitch for pitch, batter
- 3:49Speaker 2: for batter, what Milwaukee's been doing this whole World Series
- 3:54Speaker 2: and postseason. There's something about the warm summer air and
- 3:57Speaker 2: a cold corona with Lyme that makes the roar of
- 3:59Speaker 2: the crowd sound a lot like the roar of the waves.
- 4:02Speaker 1: That's because this is our playa, and the best seats
- 4:05Speaker 1: are always wherever you're sitting.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Whether it's a weeknight game under the lights or a
- 4:08Speaker 2: Sunday afternoon in the sun, you know baseball isn't about
- 4:11Speaker 2: rushing around. It's about settling in letting the game come
- 4:15Speaker 2: to you. And nothing pairs better than an ice-cold Corona. Nothing.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So find your seat, your Corona, and your line, because
- 4:24Speaker 1: real fans know the only thing better than nine innings
- 4:28Speaker 1: is extra innings, especially on La Playa.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Corona.
- 4:32Speaker 1: La Playa awaits.
- 4:34Speaker 2: The official cerveza of Major League Baseball. Get yours at
- 4:37Speaker 2: ordercorona.com for 21 plus. Relax responsibly. Corona Extra Beer, imported
- 4:44Speaker 2: by Crown Imports, Chicago, Illinois. What's up, guys? I need
- 4:48Speaker 2: to tell you about this new prediction market called Polymarket.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's the best new way to trade in sports. In
- 4:53Speaker 2: the past, if you wanted action on the game, you
- 4:56Speaker 2: put some money in, and if your team was doing
- 4:58Speaker 2: well and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock the
- 5:00Speaker 2: trade and take a huge fee. But Polymarket is a
- 5:03Speaker 2: prediction market. It's a stock exchange for sports, buying in
- 5:07Speaker 2: and selling out on your terms. I've tried them all,
- 5:09Speaker 2: and Polymarket is simply the best prediction market. better than DraftKings, FanDuel, Kalshi,
- 5:15Speaker 2: you name it. They're so confident you'll never go back
- 5:18Speaker 2: to the other guys. They're giving you a free $ 25
- 5:20Speaker 2: on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10. And
- 5:22Speaker 2: now they've launched a new feature, Squads, a group chat
- 5:26Speaker 2: where you can see what everyone is trading. So download
- 5:29Speaker 2: the Polymarket app today and use the code ROSSRIZZO when
- 5:32Speaker 2: you sign up. That's code ROSSRIZZO and get $ 25 free
- 5:35Speaker 2: after you deposit just $ 10.
- 5:39Speaker 1: No doubt. Both bullpens are going to be absolutely gassed tomorrow.
- 5:44Speaker 1: How they piece this together tomorrow is going to be
- 5:47Speaker 1: fun to watch. I know the Brewers have the Miz
- 5:50Speaker 1: going tomorrow and the Rays most likely Rasmussen, which will
- 5:53Speaker 1: be on short rest. But I kind of like it
- 5:56Speaker 1: for the Miz where you see the best pitcher in
- 5:58Speaker 1: baseball all year get to come in and he'll probably
- 6:02Speaker 1: have a longer leash now. Like, here you go, kid.
- 6:04Speaker 2: You got to go get go. Go. We need you.
- 6:06Speaker 1: 100 pitches at least, right? So, but we'll see how
- 6:10Speaker 1: that plays out. But yeah, this game, man, these bullpens, bro,
- 6:13Speaker 1: like Ashby breaking the record, breaking the record for scoreless
- 6:17Speaker 1: innings to start a postseason, which is incredible. Andrew Miller's
- 6:21Speaker 1: run in 2016 was out of this world. So just
- 6:25Speaker 1: up and down, Uribe through two innings, the whole, the raise, right?
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Brian Baker came in in the two innings, right? We
- 6:35Speaker 1: haven't seen him go more than, One inning pretty much
- 6:37Speaker 1: all year. So, just guys laying it all on the
- 6:40Speaker 1: line again. And credit to the Rays, man. They were
- 6:45Speaker 1: down and out the 12th inning. Down one run. Cooper
- 6:49Speaker 1: Pratt hits a massive home run. Cooper Pratt, what do
- 6:51Speaker 1: you have? Three hits tonight, Ross?
- 6:52Speaker 2: Four.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Four for five. Four for five. As a 21-year-old in
- 6:56Speaker 1: the biggest stage, right? And he puts the team up thinking,
- 7:01Speaker 1: you know, when Cooper Pratt hits that home run to
- 7:04Speaker 1: all the fans out there, the... tarp started going up
- 7:08Speaker 1: in the Rays' locker room in the visiting clubhouse. The
- 7:10Speaker 1: champagne was on ice.
- 7:12Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 7:13Speaker 1: All the advertising signs were on the tarp. The plastic
- 7:19Speaker 1: was up. The goggles were out. People were ready to celebrate.
- 7:23Speaker 1: There was people on the inside of that clubhouse saying,
- 7:26Speaker 1: here we go. Then the Rays come back and tie
- 7:32Speaker 1: it up and then win it, Rossi.
- 7:34Speaker 2: That just is....
- 7:37Speaker 1: Great ending to the game.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Great ending, great ending. And back and forth, like you said,
- 7:41Speaker 2: the bullpens. I was looking at, you know, the bullpen
- 7:45Speaker 2: usage and, like, JoJo Romero threw an inning and 11 pitches.
- 7:48Speaker 2: He'll be fine for tomorrow. D.L. Hall threw an inning
- 7:51Speaker 2: and two-thirds, 24 pitches. He's going to be a guy
- 7:54Speaker 2: you're going to have to check, right? You're going to
- 7:56Speaker 2: have to let him play catch, check him. Abner Uribe,
- 7:59Speaker 2: two innings, 19 pitches. 19 doesn't seem like a lot
- 8:02Speaker 2: for two innings, but, again... Um, I think a lot
- 8:06Speaker 2: of this adrenaline, like he should be fine, right? It's
- 8:08Speaker 2: the world series. You're going to, you're going to take
- 8:09Speaker 2: the ball. I don't see him not taking the ball,
- 8:11Speaker 2: but Aaron Ashby two and a third, three ups and
- 8:14Speaker 2: 31 pitches. I would be shocked if he pitched tomorrow,
- 8:18Speaker 2: to be honest. Um, since a teller was, should was
- 8:22Speaker 2: clean and drill on.
- 8:23Speaker 1: There at the end.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Um, but McGill should be able to give you a McGill.
- 8:29Speaker 2: He only got it out. Yeah. He like, if I
- 8:31Speaker 2: were Pat Murphy, I was trying to put on my
- 8:33Speaker 2: manager hat while we were talking on set. And I
- 8:36Speaker 2: think I would save Ashby if we had to leave
- 8:38Speaker 2: for the night. So McGill is going to take the
- 8:40Speaker 2: eighth and you get there. You're you're eBay, maybe the
- 8:43Speaker 2: seventh or piece together him and Jojo or deal hall.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Like you really don't have to get too much out
- 8:48Speaker 2: of the Miz. He's only gone over five innings once
- 8:51Speaker 2: in his post season. And he hasn't been as dominant.
- 8:55Speaker 2: in the postseason than it was the regular season. So, again, need.
- 9:00Speaker 2: We talked to him. We had him pregame. And he
- 9:01Speaker 2: just learned a lot. I asked him about his maturation
- 9:05Speaker 2: during this postseason and what he's learned. And he was
- 9:09Speaker 2: talking about the ability to understand I don't have to
- 9:13Speaker 2: be perfect. Like, just attack. I've got guys behind me.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Phillip strikes on with the nastiest stuff and go get
- 9:19Speaker 2: guys and try to be too perfect. And I thought
- 9:21Speaker 2: that was a really– well said thing for him because
- 9:24Speaker 2: it did look like he was trying to just be
- 9:26Speaker 2: this superhuman person that he's already is and has been
- 9:30Speaker 2: all season. But he was trying to take that in
- 9:31Speaker 2: the postseason, try to be even better. So I wouldn't
- 9:34Speaker 2: be surprised if he has a great game tomorrow night
- 9:37Speaker 2: and maybe they save Aaron Ashby to close this thing
- 9:40Speaker 2: out on the back end with McGill only getting one
- 9:43Speaker 2: hitter out. But the Rays raid, right? Like they put
- 9:47Speaker 2: the ball in play there. Kevin Arrow ground ball error
- 9:50Speaker 2: by Ortiz at third. You know how long of a
- 9:53Speaker 2: throw that is. As a first baseman, he was way
- 9:56Speaker 2: back down the third baseline. He had a long throw
- 9:58Speaker 2: and just not able to score. Fowers missed that pick, honestly.
- 10:02Speaker 2: He's been a vacuum over there all postseason. He has been.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I felt like that was one of his, I don't
- 10:09Speaker 1: want to say any pick is easier, but one of the,
- 10:12Speaker 1: it didn't seem like that big of a tweener. I
- 10:13Speaker 1: didn't really see the slow-mo replay on it, but yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I was just surprised that He missed it only because
- 10:19Speaker 1: he's been such a vacuum over there all postseason.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I know the question I had for you, and I
- 10:24Speaker 2: thought about this in game. Is it different for you
- 10:27Speaker 2: to bounce off the turf than regular grass or dirt? Like,
- 10:33Speaker 2: did you ever have to make any kind of adjustment
- 10:35Speaker 2: when you would go play on turf a little bit?
- 10:37Speaker 2: Or is it a cleaner hop? You know, that was
- 10:41Speaker 2: kind of, I thought that was a little bit more
- 10:43Speaker 2: of a, you know, a longer throw so you'd have
- 10:45Speaker 2: longer to read it. Like, let me inside your dome
- 10:48Speaker 2: as a first baseman on a play like that.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It's just, it all depends on the hop. If it's
- 10:52Speaker 1: a long hop off the turf, it's pretty fine. For me,
- 10:56Speaker 1: especially going to the trop, you would just, I would
- 10:58Speaker 1: take balls off the turf or anytime you went to
- 11:02Speaker 1: the turf from third base or shortstop. And you kind
- 11:07Speaker 1: of know what that ball is going to do, especially
- 11:09Speaker 1: all the position players, you know what their balls do.
- 11:14Speaker 1: That one, it's the tweeners that really kill you. It's
- 11:17Speaker 1: the ones where it's going to hit the turf, it's
- 11:19Speaker 1: going to hit the dirt. The one where you can't
- 11:21Speaker 1: just go fully all out, you have to kind of
- 11:23Speaker 1: read it, which from what I remember seeing, it wasn't
- 11:29Speaker 1: that bad of a tweener. It was just one of
- 11:32Speaker 1: those balls that just popped up. Yeah. I mean, Fowers
- 11:36Speaker 1: is in a great position. He was in a great
- 11:37Speaker 1: position to catch it. He was underneath the ball, did
- 11:40Speaker 1: everything right, just didn't come up with the play. He
- 11:43Speaker 1: would probably tell you he needs to have that, or
- 11:45Speaker 1: he would tell you he needs to make that throw.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Sure, sure, and that's just good accountability. I thought a
- 11:51Speaker 2: big play that nobody was talking about was, I thought
- 11:55Speaker 2: Caminera Jr. going first to third on the base hit
- 11:58Speaker 2: from Hicks to left, running right in front of Chirio's
- 12:01Speaker 2: face pretty much. He had to go a little bit
- 12:03Speaker 2: to his left and got tangled up a little bit,
- 12:05Speaker 2: but I thought it's such a different situation there. Up
- 12:08Speaker 2: one for the Brewers.
- 12:09Speaker 1: He's banged up, too.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And first and third, he's limping around,
- 12:13Speaker 2: but he pushed it to go first to third. And
- 12:15Speaker 2: now you've got first and third, nobody out. They've got
- 12:18Speaker 2: the infield pretty much in. Second baseman was a little
- 12:21Speaker 2: bit deeper. Now balls start getting through on that turf.
- 12:24Speaker 2: It's so hard to be infield in on that turf.
- 12:26Speaker 2: It just puts so much pressure. And then, you know,
- 12:28Speaker 2: the credit to the Rays, what they've done all year,
- 12:31Speaker 2: the good base running, like we talked about with Caminero Jr.,
- 12:34Speaker 2: and then contact. The contact up the middle, two strikes.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Chandler Simpson.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Chandler Simms is our player of the game. Rossi, three hits,
- 12:42Speaker 1: RBI double in the top of the second. Single in
- 12:46Speaker 1: the game-winning 12th inning rally. Just another good play at
- 12:50Speaker 1: the wall. Timing that up off of Mitchell.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Oppo.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Sneaky pop Oppo there. But yeah, Chandler Simms, as you
- 12:58Speaker 1: were saying.
- 13:00Speaker 2: David Hamilton goes deep again. He's got four home runs
- 13:04Speaker 2: in the regular season. He's got two big ones this postseason.
- 13:09Speaker 2: this postseason for the Brewers.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Just guys you wouldn't be expecting to hit these home
- 13:13Speaker 1: runs are coming up, and that's what makes a winning team.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Check this stat. Check this stat. I thought this was
- 13:18Speaker 2: really cool. The bottom seven through nine, the bottom third
- 13:22Speaker 2: of the Brewers lineup this postseason, three home runs, 10
- 13:26Speaker 2: RBIs from those batters. You're talking about Hamilton, Fralick, and Pratt,
- 13:33Speaker 2: you know, Cooper Pratt. So, like, good job bottom of
- 13:36Speaker 2: the line. Other guys grinding. We know I mean, Jackson
- 13:39Speaker 2: Cherio is on fire still. That guy absolutely rakes. And
- 13:42Speaker 2: William Contreras and all those guys to rank. But the
- 13:45Speaker 2: bottom of the lineup coming through for this Brewer crew,
- 13:49Speaker 2: the Brew crew, has really stepped up. The Brew crew.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Yep, one win away. They are one win away. Rossi,
- 13:57Speaker 1: if the Rays win and they can get this thing
- 14:00Speaker 1: back to Milwaukee, how much pressure does that put on
- 14:04Speaker 1: the Brewers?
- 14:05Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Long flight.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Off day to think about it a little bit. It
- 14:11Speaker 2: would be a reset for everybody. Now everybody, if it
- 14:13Speaker 2: gets back to Milwaukee, everybody's fresh. Both bullpens are going
- 14:16Speaker 2: to be fresh. You're going to get a fresh Johnny
- 14:21Speaker 2: Peralta who might, I mean, be seeing the bullpen tomorrow.
- 14:24Speaker 2: That's my question. You know, like he pitched yesterday, so
- 14:27Speaker 2: it'll only be a day off. I don't know what
- 14:29Speaker 2: his cycle is.
- 14:30Speaker 1: He will be in the bullpen tomorrow, yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Probably be in the bullpen.
- 14:33Speaker 1: It's all hands on deck. It's all hands on deck
- 14:34Speaker 1: at this point for both teams. I wouldn't be surprised
- 14:36Speaker 1: if we see Dustin Mayford in it tomorrow.
- 14:39Speaker 2: We got to give a shout out to Ben Williamson,
- 14:41Speaker 2: that chopper game winner, like off the bench.
- 14:44Speaker 1: What a moment.
- 14:44Speaker 2: One for one with the game winner. Yeah, what a moment.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Game winning RBI for him. They doused him with ice.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Walk-off hit in the World Series. How many people get
- 14:52Speaker 1: to say that? No, that's sick.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yeah. It's like going deep in game seven. Could be
- 14:56Speaker 2: a start.
- 14:56Speaker 1: This is what they needed. This is what they needed, right?
- 14:59Speaker 2: A gulp punch. No doubt. This hurts.
- 15:02Speaker 1: It hurts because it's not just a walk-off. The Brewers
- 15:06Speaker 1: had the lead. They had the taste. It was there.
- 15:10Speaker 1: We were outs away. We were three outs away from
- 15:13Speaker 1: winning the World Series. And then, boom!
- 15:16Speaker 2: An error. And an error that started it. You know
- 15:19Speaker 2: what I mean? Just like the clean baseball has been
- 15:21Speaker 2: a big deal. I think this is like their 11th
- 15:23Speaker 2: error of this postseason, I think Tim Kirshen said. Yeah,
- 15:26Speaker 2: it's been sloppy defense on all ends.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Everyone wants to talk about how good these defenses are,
- 15:32Speaker 1: this and that. It hasn't been the cleanest defense, but look,
- 15:37Speaker 1: these teams respond and they're resilient. And this is what
- 15:40Speaker 1: makes them a good group of guys playing together because
- 15:43Speaker 1: they can respond to all of this.
- 15:44Speaker 2: So yeah, the home run from Cooper Pratt, that dugout celebrated.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Remember some of the stuff, like I know, I know
- 15:52Speaker 2: it went viral with, with you going glass case of
- 15:54Speaker 2: case of emotion emotions. And we're trying to keep those
- 15:57Speaker 2: in check and gain sevens. Like, right there. That's a
- 15:59Speaker 2: little bit, and this is just the old guy in me,
- 16:02Speaker 2: a little bit of like letting your guard down. Like
- 16:04Speaker 2: you can't celebrate too early. I saw that.
- 16:06Speaker 1: How can you not though? Your bullpen's been locked down.
- 16:10Speaker 2: I'm with you, bro. I'm just mean, my old man
- 16:13Speaker 2: brain and my skepticism and the manager staying focused was going,
- 16:18Speaker 2: I saw these guys jumping around almost on the field,
- 16:20Speaker 2: hugging and shit. And I'm like, All right, boys. It's
- 16:23Speaker 2: not done yet.
- 16:24Speaker 1: It's not over. You're right. It's not over yet. And
- 16:27Speaker 1: they didn't. And that's all credit to the Rays and
- 16:30Speaker 1: the Brewers, man. Good ending to this game. We have
- 16:34Speaker 1: game five tomorrow at the Trop. You will be there.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Boots on the ground with ESPN. Rossi, you have been
- 16:42Speaker 1: 0 for 4, respectively. And your predictions, what do we
- 16:48Speaker 1: got for tomorrow?
- 16:50Speaker 2: God, all I think about when the game's going on
- 16:54Speaker 2: is like, God, I suck at my polymarket picks. My
- 16:57Speaker 2: polymarket pick. My heart's in this one. My heart's in
- 17:01Speaker 2: this one, okay? The Rays are 43% to the yes.
- 17:03Speaker 2: $ 100 gets you back $ 221. The Brewers are 57% to
- 17:05Speaker 2: the yes. And $ 100 gets you back $ 168. I am
- 17:06Speaker 2: in on the Brewers and the Miz tomorrow to clinch it.
- 17:18Speaker 2: game five, win the World Series at the trough. That's
- 17:22Speaker 2: who I'm going with for my polymarket pick.
- 17:24Speaker 1: All right. Yeah. I saw a stat today that teams
- 17:29Speaker 1: down 3-0, like only four teams forced a game five,
- 17:36Speaker 1: maybe one a six and none a game seven. So
- 17:41Speaker 1: the Rays do have an opportunity to make history. It's
- 17:44Speaker 1: just one game at a time. Just play For today,
- 17:48Speaker 1: win the game today, you figure out tomorrow. And that's
- 17:49Speaker 1: what happened today. And we have another. They live to
- 17:52Speaker 1: see another day, Rossi.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Momentum is one of the most important things in all
- 17:57Speaker 2: of sports to me. Like, that momentum is real for sure.
- 18:01Speaker 2: And getting that first W, breaking that seal, getting that
- 18:04Speaker 2: first W under your belt, the Rays got to feel
- 18:06Speaker 2: good coming in tomorrow. Yep. Guys, we were on the

- 20:27Speaker 1: Let's get to our Tim Buss mailbag questions of the day,
- 20:31Speaker 1: the ball bag questions of the day where Ross and
- 20:32Speaker 1: I Take questions from our viewers, our fans, rossandrizzo at gmail.com.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Send us your questions in. Leave us comments on YouTube,
- 20:41Speaker 1: on our socials. I loved it today, Rossi. You're taking
- 20:44Speaker 1: some heat on not having.
- 20:46Speaker 2: A hot dog. Taking some heat from a question. The
- 20:49Speaker 2: hot dog thing went. Oscar Mayer chimed in. I'm like,
- 20:55Speaker 2: I'm catching up. My DMs were full. Anybody that knows me,
- 20:59Speaker 2: like all the.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Boys in Chicago, is like, come on, Rossi. Come on, Rossi.
- 21:06Speaker 1: We have a group called the Horn Section that we
- 21:09Speaker 1: all text and stuff, and they're like, Rossi, in our
- 21:13Speaker 1: group chat today, they were like, that's the most unhorned
- 21:15Speaker 1: thing Rossi's ever done.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Anyways, let's get to our first email. I'm not proud
- 21:21Speaker 2: of it. I'm just trying to be honest with our viewers,
- 21:23Speaker 2: our fans.
- 21:24Speaker 1: That's what makes these questions great, though. Hey, it's going
- 21:26Speaker 1: to make for great content. When we go to Chicago
- 21:28Speaker 1: next time, we can go to any... Hot dog place.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I'm sure they would spare you a free hot dog
- 21:34Speaker 1: to try it.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Wiener Circle and a chocolate shake. Let's go.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Let's go. All right. First email from Randy. Since you
- 21:42Speaker 1: know what it's like to come back from being down
- 21:45Speaker 1: 3-1 in this series, do you think the feeling of
- 21:48Speaker 1: the Rays instantly changes now that they've picked up a win?
- 21:51Speaker 1: Because there have been 14 teams that have come back
- 21:53Speaker 1: from 3-1, a 3-1 deficit in postseason history. What do
- 21:59Speaker 1: you think, Rossi?
- 22:01Speaker 2: I mean, when your back is against the wall like
- 22:04Speaker 2: it was tonight and you come out and you fight
- 22:07Speaker 2: in extra innings, and there's a lot of positivity. They
- 22:11Speaker 2: held the Brewers' offense down from what they were doing
- 22:14Speaker 2: the night before, and they were super hot with a
- 22:16Speaker 2: lot of momentum. There was adversity with just back and
- 22:20Speaker 2: forth the game and tied and just a tight game
- 22:23Speaker 2: with everybody out of the bullpen and Nick Martinez coming in.
- 22:28Speaker 2: you know, starter, giving you innings out of the bullpen.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Everybody was great out of the bullpen, and you end
- 22:35Speaker 2: up pulling out a win. Like, it gives you momentum.
- 22:38Speaker 2: You get to celebrate in your locker room. The music's
- 22:40Speaker 2: on when you go in there. Everybody's got a vibe. So,
- 22:43Speaker 2: especially with the quick turnaround, there's no off day. They've
- 22:46Speaker 2: got to feel great, and the Brewers feel the opposite, right?
- 22:49Speaker 2: They're like, they're trying to turn the page as fast
- 22:51Speaker 2: as possible, but it felt like they had that thing
- 22:54Speaker 2: in their hand, and it got swiped away from them
- 22:56Speaker 2: last second. So, it's all about momentum. You've got to
- 22:59Speaker 2: keep that thing going, and they're starting pitching tomorrow. It's
- 23:02Speaker 2: going to have to be great. I think Rasmussen would
- 23:03Speaker 2: like to have it back. His last start wasn't as
- 23:06Speaker 2: sharp as he's been this postseason, and now he's going
- 23:09Speaker 2: up against a good one. We're going to have a
- 23:10Speaker 2: great game five, and he's got to keep the ball rolling,
- 23:12Speaker 2: and like you said earlier, one pitch at a time.
- 23:14Speaker 2: It's one pitch, one at bat at a time.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know, man. Coming down 3-0, I think
- 23:21Speaker 1: it's too big of a task. This is baseball, though.
- 23:25Speaker 1: So anything can happen, right? We did come back from 3-1.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Winning game five for us was that most important game.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I felt like if we won game five, we'd get
- 23:35Speaker 1: it back to Cleveland. I felt for sure we were
- 23:37Speaker 1: going to win game six, and then game seven's a
- 23:39Speaker 1: crapshoot facing Kluber. So the thing is the Brewers have Miz,
- 23:44Speaker 1: they have Bobby Diesel, probably going to be lined up
- 23:48Speaker 1: perfectly for game seven. So who would they throw game six?
- 23:52Speaker 2: Henderson.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Henderson, yeah, exactly. So The Brewers starting pitching is– the
- 23:57Speaker 1: Brewers overall pitching staff is in a much better shape,
- 24:02Speaker 1: and they have Jacob Mizorowski thrown tomorrow. So I want
- 24:06Speaker 1: to say the Rays have it. The Rays are grinders.
- 24:09Speaker 2: What's that? If I'm in the Rays, I'm saying right now,
- 24:12Speaker 2: don't let us get to Johnny Peralta game six. That's
- 24:15Speaker 2: what I would be saying. Don't let us win game five.
- 24:18Speaker 1: You have to rally around something. It's small rallies right now. Small,
- 24:23Speaker 1: small rallies.
- 24:24Speaker 2: And Rasmussen has been their dude. He was their game
- 24:28Speaker 2: one starter all postseason until this series because they gave
- 24:31Speaker 2: him extra rest. So that's their dude. They got their
- 24:34Speaker 2: dude going tomorrow. Yep.
- 24:38Speaker 1: All right.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Next email from Sarah Welsh and Brian Ray. Both emailed
- 24:45Speaker 2: about Ian Happ. We got a little Happer shout out.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Love this.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Do you think the Cubs should bring back Ian Happ?
- 24:53Speaker 2: He's been a staple for the Cubs clubhouse for a
- 24:55Speaker 2: decade and been a, and, uh, having forever Cubs is
- 25:01Speaker 2: a nice thing for fans in a franchise. Also how
- 25:05Speaker 2: was playing alongside Ian Happ? How was he as a teammate?
- 25:10Speaker 1: I love Happer. I love him as a teammate of
- 25:12Speaker 1: him as a person. I love him as a friend. I,
- 25:15Speaker 1: he's been there for nine, 10 years. Um, dealt with
- 25:20Speaker 1: adversity playing there. He's got called up and sent down
- 25:23Speaker 1: a couple times. So just a tremendous friend. I know
- 25:27Speaker 1: I want what's best for Ian Hatt, honestly. I know
- 25:31Speaker 1: the Forever Cubs stuff sounds amazing. We all want that.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I wanted that. As players, when you're in a franchise
- 25:38Speaker 1: for that long, you want it. But it's really whatever's
- 25:41Speaker 1: best for him. And if the Cubs show interest and
- 25:44Speaker 1: show the love back to him that Ian's showed the franchise,
- 25:48Speaker 1: then absolutely I want him to stay. If not, I
- 25:52Speaker 1: want him to land wherever he's going to be happiest.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I know that's not the, you know, that's a political answer,
- 25:57Speaker 1: but that's really the truth on this one.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, first of all, I didn't get to
- 26:02Speaker 2: play with Haber, but I've known him a long time.
- 26:03Speaker 2: He was in spring training, and I got to manage him.
- 26:05Speaker 2: He's one of the pro-est guys you're ever going to
- 26:08Speaker 2: be around, and just a staple in that lineup. His
- 26:13Speaker 2: wife got married in Chicago, wife from there, their family, like,
- 26:17Speaker 2: that's home for him. And I think every player's dream
- 26:21Speaker 2: is to start with a franchise first rounder and stay
- 26:25Speaker 2: with them your entire career. I don't know that that's
- 26:28Speaker 2: going to happen. And I'm obviously the same, but we
- 26:30Speaker 2: want what's best for Happer as a friend. And, and personally,
- 26:35Speaker 2: you know, the Cubs are going to do what they
- 26:37Speaker 2: think is best for the team. But if they bring
- 26:39Speaker 2: Ian Happ back, I think everybody's in the wind, right?
- 26:44Speaker 2: The fans are in the wind, the organization's in the wind,
- 26:46Speaker 2: Happer's in the wind. Um, but also like, if I
- 26:49Speaker 2: can speak from experience for me, like having different plan
- 26:52Speaker 2: for different organizations is very, uh, valuable just for, to
- 26:57Speaker 2: grow as a person as a player. Um, but again,
- 27:00Speaker 2: I want what's best for Ian and, and, uh, his family.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Uh, let's get to our last, uh, Tim bus ball
- 27:05Speaker 1: back question. Email from Jim Molly Malloy. The collective bargaining
- 27:13Speaker 1: agreement expiring soon. The team representatives say, For the Players Union,
- 27:17Speaker 1: we'll be busy relaying information during the negotiations. How do
- 27:20Speaker 1: players without a contract, such as free agents, keep up
- 27:24Speaker 1: with the whole process? So this happened to me in
- 27:27Speaker 1: 21 going into 22 when we had the lockout and
- 27:31Speaker 1: spring training was delayed. I just kept up via, well,
- 27:35Speaker 1: I was able to keep up with, Ian Happ was
- 27:38Speaker 1: a representative for the Cubs. So he's my boy, so
- 27:41Speaker 1: I talked to him all the time. And then I
- 27:43Speaker 1: would also talk to the guys from the Yankees as well.
- 27:46Speaker 1: You usually just talk to your former team or guys
- 27:48Speaker 1: you're closer with in the league, and you can get
- 27:51Speaker 1: updates that way. Or you can just call the union directly.
- 27:53Speaker 1: So it's going to be a long process. It's going
- 27:58Speaker 1: to be a media battle, unfortunately. There's going to be
- 28:01Speaker 1: a lot of stuff put out in the media. So
- 28:03Speaker 1: for all the fans, I want to say this with 100% certainty, Rossi.
- 28:09Speaker 1: There will 99.9% be a major league lockout because it
- 28:14Speaker 1: expires December 1st. How long that goes is to be determined.
- 28:20Speaker 1: But I'm very confident that on December 1st, I do
- 28:23Speaker 1: not believe the players and the league will come up
- 28:27Speaker 1: with a deal.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Well, and that's the great thing about our game is
- 28:31Speaker 2: you play with guys and a lot of guys are
- 28:34Speaker 2: with different organizations by the time you're a free agent.
- 28:36Speaker 2: And you either call the guys you always talk to
- 28:39Speaker 2: that were a rep or when I was coming up,
- 28:41Speaker 2: almost every young guy, I had to be a rep
- 28:43Speaker 2: that the rookies... There was a veteran rep and then
- 28:46Speaker 2: there was a rookie rep and you learn a lot
- 28:48Speaker 2: and you find those connections and you can go through
- 28:51Speaker 2: your agent, former players. There's a lot of avenues to
- 28:54Speaker 2: get the information. So guys, you don't have to worry
- 28:56Speaker 2: about guys not being able to keep up with the
- 28:59Speaker 2: whole process. Everybody will be informed and we'll see how
- 29:02Speaker 2: this thing goes, man. I just, I'm loving this podcast.
- 29:07Speaker 2: I hope we have a ton of baseball to talk about.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Hey, I have one last question for you. Are you
- 29:10Speaker 1: having fun being at the World Series, David?
- 29:14Speaker 2: Yeah, bro.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Fuck yeah.
- 29:15Speaker 2: It's the best part.
- 29:17Speaker 1: You're with colleagues. You're with your colleagues, not your partner.
- 29:20Speaker 2: I'm not with my partner. I'm not with my partner.
- 29:22Speaker 2: You liked that yesterday. You liked that. I did. You
- 29:24Speaker 2: liked that line.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I did.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I like my team of people that I get
- 29:27Speaker 2: to work with at ESPN. They're great. And being on
- 29:30Speaker 2: the field, interviewing Griffin Jacks, the Miz, we had on Woodruff.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Woodruff told me today, he's like, I almost told you
- 29:36Speaker 2: yesterday about supposed to open. And then, you know, now...
- 29:39Speaker 2: and then they bring me in because of the blowout
- 29:41Speaker 2: game and we kind of they switch they flip the
- 29:43Speaker 2: script and murph but a lot of cool little nuggets
- 29:46Speaker 2: that you get and then you know i see dimp
- 29:48Speaker 2: and you know derosa and just the boy i saw
- 29:52Speaker 2: mike b today i saw shane victorino saw brian howard
- 29:57Speaker 2: Jimmy Roll, I mean, there's just, everybody is around there
- 30:00Speaker 2: and it's just fun to talk shop and see guys
- 30:02Speaker 2: that you hadn't seen in a long time and hear
- 30:03Speaker 2: all the stories. It's the best part, man. Just don't
- 30:05Speaker 2: talk to any of the players.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Just don't talk to any of the current players.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I'll leave those guys. I'll leave those guys. Well, I
- 30:11Speaker 2: got to talk, you know, I got to talk, Bryce Terang,
- 30:15Speaker 2: got to talk to him a little bit and I
- 30:16Speaker 2: saw Ernie Clement. He's there doing some media and he.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Was on that WBC.
- 30:19Speaker 2: He's doing a good job.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Him and Peyton Tolley are.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Doing a great job. Yeah, he actually just Just bought
- 30:26Speaker 2: a place, I think, close to the spring training, so
- 30:28Speaker 2: we may try to get some golf. Maybe me and
- 30:30Speaker 2: you get some golf over there at some nice spot.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I think he's a member of Bel Air or somewhere
- 30:34Speaker 2: like that, he told me. So that would be fun.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Not very nice.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Just a nice little golf.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Yeah, no big deal. But, anyways, thanks, everyone, for tuning in.
- 30:42Speaker 1: We got World Series coverage game five tomorrow. Email us
