Broadway Is My Beat - "The Anna Compton Murder Case" (1951)
Broadway Is My Beat presents “The Anna Compton Murder Case,” originally broadcast on CBS on September 15, 1951. This is episode 78, opening the series’ third season, with Larry Thor as hard-boiled Manhattan detective Danny Clover.
When Anna Compton is found shot in an automobile registered to Edward Bishop, Clover follows a troubled trail through Broadway, an auction house, and a skid-row mission. Written by Morton Fine and David Friedkin and directed by Elliott Lewis, this Hollywood-produced police noir retains the series’ unmistakable New York atmosphere.
