- 0:01Speaker 1: Good a champions. Hope you're bloody terrific. Before I tell
- 0:04Speaker 1: you what's going on today, we have got a seven
- 0:08Speaker 1: day kickstart typ the U Project kickstarts kind of seven
- 0:11Speaker 1: days of me mentoring, coaching, poking, prodding, supporting, educating whoever
- 0:18Speaker 1: wants to get involved. It's just seven days of committing
- 0:22Speaker 1: to a process of trying new stuff, doing new stuff,
- 0:26Speaker 1: getting a little tiny weenie just to fucking scaric, uncomfortable,
- 0:32Speaker 1: putting on your big boy pants or your big girl pants,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and finding a little bit of courage so that you
- 0:38Speaker 1: might start and finish something. The good thing about this,
- 0:41Speaker 1: other than the potential benefits of getting involved, is it's
- 0:44Speaker 1: free as fuck. It's free. There are no costs. There's
- 0:48Speaker 1: no hook, there's no catch, there's no agenda, there's no
- 0:52Speaker 1: on sell upsell, side cell, It's all just me. Go on. Hey,
- 0:56Speaker 1: let's step out of theory for a minute, step into
- 1:00Speaker 1: the doing. Let's step into the practical. Let's roll up
- 1:03Speaker 1: our sleeves. Lets us as a community of like minded
- 1:07Speaker 1: people get involved in doing something which for us collectively
- 1:12Speaker 1: but also for you individually, could be the beginning of something. Obviously,
- 1:18Speaker 1: seven days is not it, but seven days of doing
- 1:21Speaker 1: something might be a catalyst. It might give you a
- 1:23Speaker 1: little bit of a cognitive or emotional or behavioral or
- 1:26Speaker 1: physiological shift. It might be a bit of a shove
- 1:30Speaker 1: with love. It might be the thing that you need
- 1:33Speaker 1: to create that small bit of momentum that could turn
- 1:37Speaker 1: into something bigger and better and longer lasting, which is
- 1:42Speaker 1: ultimately what we want. I love doing the theory. I
- 1:45Speaker 1: love doing the I love doing the science of change
- 1:49Speaker 1: and the psychology of change, and sharing thoughts and ideas
- 1:52Speaker 1: and messages and hopefully some wisdom and insight and some
- 1:57Speaker 1: research and all of that stuff. But ultimately, I know
- 2:00Speaker 1: this is not a new message, but I'm going to
- 2:02Speaker 1: keep saying it because it's never going to be different. Ultimately,
- 2:04Speaker 1: success comes down to not what we know, but what
- 2:07Speaker 1: we do with what we know. Not how educated we are,
- 2:10Speaker 1: but how proactive and brave and consistent and resilient we
- 2:15Speaker 1: can be. And knowledge matters, and education matters, But what
- 2:19Speaker 1: matters the most is our behavior, is our thinking, is
- 2:24Speaker 1: our choosing, is our doing. So to get involved in
- 2:28Speaker 1: that typ seven day kickstart, just go to the U
- 2:31Speaker 1: project Facebook page. If you haven't already, just right in
- 2:37Speaker 1: the comments section you'll find just scroll down, you'll see
- 2:40Speaker 1: the promo for the seven day Kickstart. If it's not
- 2:43Speaker 1: near the top of the page, it'll be there somewhere.
- 2:47Speaker 1: As I'm looking right now, there's over two hundred people
- 2:50Speaker 1: that have already jumped in. Just go into the comments
- 2:54Speaker 1: and write I'm in and that means you're in, and yeah,
- 3:01Speaker 1: every day, I'm going to put a starting on Friday.
- 3:03Speaker 1: We're starting Friday. I don't know if I mentioned that,
- 3:05Speaker 1: but we're starting Friday. We're starting Friday because nobody fucking
- 3:08Speaker 1: starts on Friday. Everyone starts on Monday, and statistically, most
- 3:14Speaker 1: people who start on Monday fail. So we're going to
- 3:17Speaker 1: see if Friday works better. And of course I'm saying
- 3:19Speaker 1: that tongue in cheek and I'm winking at you. We're
- 3:23Speaker 1: going to start Friday just because we can, because we
- 3:26Speaker 1: don't want to be typical. If you want to get involved,
- 3:29Speaker 1: do that now. The man who's just banged on, I'm
- 3:34Speaker 1: going to tell you that I had a guest fall
- 3:37Speaker 1: through today and for that reason, I thought I would
- 3:42Speaker 1: re share with you something that has been shared once
- 3:47Speaker 1: or twice over our six or seven year journey. This
- 3:51Speaker 1: I can't remember if this is second or third time,
- 3:53Speaker 1: but this is very brief. This is I think it's
- 3:55Speaker 1: around ten eleven, twelve minutes what you're about to hear.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And I wrote this for basically a New Year's message,
- 4:05Speaker 1: kind of like the coins New Year Message, but we'll
- 4:07Speaker 1: call it Harps's New Year Message. Anyway, it is one
- 4:13Speaker 1: of the things that I get the most feedback on.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It is basically a little bit of a motivational kind
- 4:23Speaker 1: of get your shit together, and it's probably nothing majorly new,
- 4:29Speaker 1: but the way that this was put together. I wrote
- 4:35Speaker 1: it and then I read it and shared it, which
- 4:37Speaker 1: I don't normally do. I've done that a few times,
- 4:39Speaker 1: but rarely, maybe three or four times in six years
- 4:42Speaker 1: i've actually read something that I wrote because I think
- 4:46Speaker 1: that was the best option with that particular thing. But anyway,
- 4:52Speaker 1: so if you need to reset, refocus, recommit, realign, and
- 5:00Speaker 1: you need a little bit of inspiration or motivation or
- 5:02Speaker 1: perhaps a kick in the metaphoric bottom, then I think you, well,
- 5:08Speaker 1: there's a chance that you'll really enjoy this. And also
- 5:12Speaker 1: if you think, because it's so brief, you can cut
- 5:16Speaker 1: out all this bullshit at the start with me waffling.
- 5:18Speaker 1: If you want, and you can tell your friends just
- 5:21Speaker 1: start listening at the eight minute mark or whatever it is.
- 5:23Speaker 1: But if there's somebody on planet you that you think, oh,
- 5:27Speaker 1: I reckon, they might benefit from listening to this particular
- 5:33Speaker 1: twelve minutes or whatever it is of audio, then please
- 5:35Speaker 1: share it with them, alrighty, without any further ado. And
- 5:40Speaker 1: also the other reason I'm not doing I was going
- 5:44Speaker 1: to do. I was going to do a solo one,
- 5:47Speaker 1: as in a new solo one, but I'm kind of
- 5:48Speaker 1: a bit under the pump, which you wouldn't know by
- 5:51Speaker 1: the way I'm waffling on, but lots on it the
- 5:53Speaker 1: minute on planet me. So we're going to revisit this
- 5:57Speaker 1: one that I did a few years ago, and I
- 6:00Speaker 1: think you'll enjoy it. See tomorrow, Dear friends, followers, newbies
- 6:04Speaker 1: and strangers, You beautiful, flawed, weirdos and wonders wherever you are,
- 6:08Speaker 1: whoever you are, Happy New Year, Love from me to you,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and most importantly, I hope this finds you ready. And
- 6:14Speaker 1: the reason I say ready is because all the love,
- 6:17Speaker 1: support and well wishes from me mean fuck all to
- 6:20Speaker 1: the quality of your life and the quality of your results.
- 6:22Speaker 1: If you're not ready to do the work that's required
- 6:25Speaker 1: to change your life for the better, whatever better means
- 6:28Speaker 1: to you. And when I say ready, I mean ready
- 6:31Speaker 1: for the discomfort, the inconvenience, the lack of support, the unfairness,
- 6:35Speaker 1: the rejection, the criticism, resistance, inequity, and all the bullshit
- 6:39Speaker 1: that often comes with the human experience that comes with growth,
- 6:43Speaker 1: that comes with breakthrough and transformation, with insight, with wisdom,
- 6:48Speaker 1: with skill development, self awareness, resilience, and with developing mental toughness.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Of course, there's going to be great days too, But
- 6:56Speaker 1: coasting down the metaphoric hill with the wind at your
- 6:59Speaker 1: back is not where your challenges really lie, and not
- 7:02Speaker 1: where your strength is built, not where your focus is sharpened,
- 7:05Speaker 1: and not where your transformation happens. Sadly, most of us
- 7:10Speaker 1: listening to this live in a world addicted to comfort, convenience, predictability,
- 7:14Speaker 1: instant gratification and positive affirmations. We love that stuff, and
- 7:18Speaker 1: speaking of sad life, gives zero fucks about your or
- 7:21Speaker 1: my physical comfort, emotional state, mental health, insecurity, insatiable ego,
- 7:27Speaker 1: or sadness. Life is just life. It is the constant
- 7:30Speaker 1: with which we perpetually dance. And life's not fair or
- 7:34Speaker 1: unfair or good or bad. In fact, life's not even
- 7:37Speaker 1: a thing. It's not a single thing anyway, but rather
- 7:40Speaker 1: a bunch of things. The word life is a term
- 7:43Speaker 1: that we invented, a mental construct to describe and help
- 7:46Speaker 1: us comprehend a multitude of intersecting and overlapping variables experiences, outcomes, relationships, events, illnesses, emotions, culture, value,
- 7:59Speaker 1: standard life, love, hate, pain, pleasure, psychology, physiology, biology, spirituality, past, present, future,
- 8:08Speaker 1: non unknown. All of it part of life. And it's
- 8:12Speaker 1: in the middle of this multitude of variables that our
- 8:14Speaker 1: story about our life arises. In reality, how we personally
- 8:20Speaker 1: experience life is more about our thinking, our self created stories,
- 8:26Speaker 1: the way we individually process, label, and interpret the goings
- 8:29Speaker 1: on of our external world, than it is the actual
- 8:32Speaker 1: events taking place in that three dimensional place, Which is
- 8:36Speaker 1: why someone in a bad situation can literally be having
- 8:39Speaker 1: a great day that is their personal experience, while someone
- 8:43Speaker 1: in a great situation, seemingly from the outside looking in,
- 8:47Speaker 1: can be having a truly horrible time. And if you
- 8:49Speaker 1: don't believe me, I'll introduce you to a few people
- 8:52Speaker 1: living with cancer who are consistently happier than most healthy people.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And they're not deluded. They know exactly what's going on,
- 9:00Speaker 1: but neither is their life experience determined by their situation
- 9:03Speaker 1: or their illness. The mind is the ultimate reality creator,
- 9:07Speaker 1: even in the middle of the worst shit. Just ask
- 9:10Speaker 1: Victor Frankel, and ask my mum, who's beaten cancer three
- 9:13Speaker 1: times and complained about the disease, the pain, the chemo,
- 9:17Speaker 1: all the horrible fucking side effects exactly zero times. And now,
- 9:23Speaker 1: like many times before, you and I, we stand at
- 9:27Speaker 1: the precipice of another year, a new year. We've got
- 9:30Speaker 1: no more hours in a day, no more potential than
- 9:32Speaker 1: last year, no better genetics, and maybe, like many other years,
- 9:36Speaker 1: you step up to the starting line with similar or
- 9:39Speaker 1: identical even goals, aspirations, and dreams, hoping that somehow this
- 9:45Speaker 1: year will be different. But it won't, not if hoping
- 9:49Speaker 1: is your strategy anyway, And that's because hoping, wanting, wishing,
- 9:55Speaker 1: finger crossing for a better year and a better life,
- 9:57Speaker 1: it's not a fucking strategy at all. It's not a commitment.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's not courage, it's not work. It's delusional responsibility, avoiding bullshit.
- 10:05Speaker 1: It's weakness, or at the very least, it's laziness and
- 10:09Speaker 1: it's you saying, I hope things work out. I hope
- 10:13Speaker 1: I fall on my feet. I hope opportunity presents itself.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I hope I get in shape, and I hope success
- 10:18Speaker 1: comes my way this year. The truth is that statistically,
- 10:22Speaker 1: very few people will achieve what they set out to
- 10:24Speaker 1: this year and maintain it over the long term. And
- 10:29Speaker 1: that's not because they can't necessarily, but because creating a
- 10:32Speaker 1: personal revolution, a genuine, inside out, permanent transformation, is hard
- 10:38Speaker 1: as fuck. And while we fantasize about change, we're addicted
- 10:41Speaker 1: to easy. And the only place that easy in transformation
- 10:45Speaker 1: coexist is in sentences like this one. On another truth, Well,
- 10:51Speaker 1: here's another one. I don't really like writing these messages
- 10:56Speaker 1: at all. I know some people will resent it and
- 11:00Speaker 1: resent me for writing it. Don't blame them totally get it.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Understand there were times in my life when this kind
- 11:06Speaker 1: of message was the absolute last thing I wanted to
- 11:08Speaker 1: read or hear, because I was still denying, deflecting, procrastinating,
- 11:13Speaker 1: and justifying my own lack of commitment and work. I
- 11:17Speaker 1: had a gift for making bullshit excuses sound like very
- 11:20Speaker 1: logical reasons. Sometimes having away with words is not the advantage,
- 11:25Speaker 1: it seems, But deep down I knew the issue was
- 11:27Speaker 1: me and the solution was me. I was the author
- 11:31Speaker 1: of my own story, but at that time I was
- 11:33Speaker 1: just scribbling shit on a page, and while I could
- 11:36Speaker 1: dilute a few people, I was actually sabotaging myself, getting
- 11:39Speaker 1: in my own way and telling myself stories to justify
- 11:42Speaker 1: what I should have been doing. But wasn't sure. I
- 11:46Speaker 1: could write a much more digestible, comfortable, and even popular
- 11:50Speaker 1: message than this one. But I'd be lying. I'd be
- 11:53Speaker 1: lying to you and me about what's actually required to
- 11:56Speaker 1: be the exception, not the rule. Of course, I'd love
- 11:59Speaker 1: to share some feel good, warm, fuzzy, let's hug it
- 12:03Speaker 1: out type messages where the universe provides intensions are enough.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Being a good person always equal success, Change is easy,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and things always work out. But in four decades of
- 12:16Speaker 1: working at the cold face of change with tens of
- 12:18Speaker 1: thousands of humans who wanted to create physical, mental, emotional,
- 12:21Speaker 1: and practical change, I've come to realize that message it's
- 12:26Speaker 1: just not true. In fact, it's often part of the problem.
- 12:29Speaker 1: There's no magic or mystery to success. There's you, and
- 12:33Speaker 1: then there's the work. There's the effort and the outcome.
- 12:36Speaker 1: There's the plan, and then there's the execution of the plan.
- 12:39Speaker 1: There's what's required to change, learn, grow and succeed, and
- 12:43Speaker 1: then there's what an individual will actually fucking do. Some
- 12:48Speaker 1: people have almost been changing their life for years, decades,
- 12:52Speaker 1: and all the self help memes, the positive affirmations, the
- 12:56Speaker 1: motivational videos, the cheer squads, and even the fucking transformation
- 12:59Speaker 1: die maries in the world amount to fuck all if
- 13:03Speaker 1: they're not used in conjunction with consistent effort, self control, discipline,
- 13:08Speaker 1: and courage. Not sexy, those things, are they It's not
- 13:12Speaker 1: about the tool, it's about the tradesperson. And on this project,
- 13:16Speaker 1: you the trade are building your optimum life. If right
- 13:21Speaker 1: now you know that I'm talking about you, then you
- 13:24Speaker 1: have a bunch of choices. But here are five that
- 13:26Speaker 1: come to mind for me. One self delusion, Pretend that
- 13:31Speaker 1: I'm not talking about you and just carry on. Two
- 13:35Speaker 1: get mad at me for being an out of touch,
- 13:37Speaker 1: in sensitive prick who doesn't understand you or your situation.
- 13:42Speaker 1: That's not an unpopular choice that one. Three self loathing.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Tell yourself you're a worthless piece of shit. Done that
- 13:49Speaker 1: a few times myself. Four self awareness and ownership, no
- 13:54Speaker 1: self loathing, no overthinking, no self pity, just awareness, acknowledgment,
- 14:00Speaker 1: and humility. And five fully commit, fully commit like you
- 14:05Speaker 1: never ever have before in your life, to changing whatever
- 14:09Speaker 1: needs to be changed on planet you from the inside out.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Throw away the safety in it, remove the escape clause,
- 14:15Speaker 1: ditch the get out of jail card, and immerse yourself
- 14:18Speaker 1: in the project. Do you project? See what I did there?
- 14:23Speaker 1: Obviously I recommend options four and five, but to be honest,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I've given them all a run over the years. So
- 14:28Speaker 1: some of you might be reading this and thinking, yeah, harps,
- 14:31Speaker 1: I get it, and yeah, I want to change my
- 14:33Speaker 1: life or part of my life. But I'm not a
- 14:35Speaker 1: hard ass. I'm not a savage. I'm not an elite athlete.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I'm not indestructible, not gifted, not fearless, not You don't
- 14:43Speaker 1: need to be me, by the way, that's no high watermark.
- 14:45Speaker 1: And I'm definitely not young. And I'm going to say
- 14:48Speaker 1: to you, cool, great, Okay, that's awesome. You don't need
- 14:52Speaker 1: to be any of those things. You just need to
- 14:54Speaker 1: be willing to start where you are with what you
- 14:57Speaker 1: have and what you can do. The only person and
- 15:00Speaker 1: you're competing and comparing yourself with on this journey, on
- 15:03Speaker 1: this project, is you past you, current you? Future you?
- 15:08Speaker 1: If the furthest you can walk, for example, it's twenty feet,
- 15:11Speaker 1: then walk twenty feet. Well done, Awesome. That's your genesis.
- 15:15Speaker 1: That's you creating momentum, that's you starting, that's you taking action.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And if the thought of you talking to a stranger,
- 15:23Speaker 1: for example, terrifies you, then don't maybe start with a
- 15:26Speaker 1: smile and graduate over a week or two or ten
- 15:29Speaker 1: to a hello. Whoever you are, whatever the goal, whatever
- 15:33Speaker 1: your age, genetics, potential resources, we all start where we
- 15:36Speaker 1: are mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, academically, professionally, and personally. I've
- 15:43Speaker 1: trained people who have gained amazing strength, function, fitness, confidence,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and health in their eighties eighties. I've coached people to
- 15:51Speaker 1: change careers in their sixties and people to undertake study
- 15:55Speaker 1: in their seventies. All they needed to be was willing,
- 15:59Speaker 1: and they were. They started, and they did it. The
- 16:02Speaker 1: good news is that, in my experience, most of us
- 16:05Speaker 1: haven't begun to scrape the surface of our potential. Most
- 16:09Speaker 1: of us underestimate what's actually possible for us when we
- 16:12Speaker 1: have to do something as opposed to want to do something.
- 16:17Speaker 1: We've got untapped reserves. I've seen it time and time again.
- 16:20Speaker 1: When our mindset switches, and I mean really fucking transforms
- 16:24Speaker 1: on the deepest level from I kind of want to
- 16:27Speaker 1: do better this year to absolutely have to change my
- 16:31Speaker 1: fucking life. Then a new door of likely outcomes opens.
- 16:35Speaker 1: We move in that moment, we move from no chance
- 16:39Speaker 1: to some chance. Now, some of you might be somewhat
- 16:43Speaker 1: inspired or motivated when you hear this or not. Either way,
- 16:47Speaker 1: I really don't care. I give zero fucks because your
- 16:49Speaker 1: motivation and inspiration will pass. But I do care about
- 16:53Speaker 1: you really, and more importantly, I care about what you do.
- 16:56Speaker 1: And the motivation and inspiration evaporate when the majority would
- 17:01Speaker 1: abandon ship, when no one's watching, when the cheer squad
- 17:05Speaker 1: has disappeared, when a week has passed and then a month.
- 17:08Speaker 1: When it's painful, and when it's more painful, when people
- 17:13Speaker 1: resent you for succeeding, when your focus bothers them, when
- 17:17Speaker 1: you realize that your friend is a frenemy, when you
- 17:20Speaker 1: can't remember what the fuck I even said here, and
- 17:23Speaker 1: when you start to rationalize why it might be time
- 17:26Speaker 1: to give up just like the other times. That's what
- 17:29Speaker 1: I care about. I honestly don't know if you'll change
- 17:31Speaker 1: your life this year, but I know you can. All
- 17:35Speaker 1: the best, love, Harps
