- 0:45and this week we got a great guest to not only talk about the NL
- 0:49East but some other Major League Baseball storylines as well. She's fantastic. She
- 0:54and her co host, they do a great job on their podcast. Wanted
- 0:57to bring her back on the show to really talk about what's going on with
- 1:02the Mets, with the Phillies, with the Nationals, et cetera. So
- 1:06why don't we get to that discussion right now. It's gonna be a great
- 1:07one. Joining us this week from a pod of their own. I listen
- 1:12on Apple Podcasts every now and again. They do fantastic work. They're talking
- 1:18about the New York Mets. We have the one and only Alison mckaig.
- 1:23Alison, how you doing, my friend? I'm okay. How are you,
- 1:26Jeff? I'm doing all right. I'm doing all right. It's great
- 1:27to have you on. Honestly, I love you ladies over at a pod
- 1:32of their own like you are so passionate about the New York Mets. You
- 1:36know, you and Maggie and your other co host as well. Who I'm
- 1:38forgetting your name off the top of my head, I'm sure, Linda.
- 1:41Yes, yes, so very passionate about the New York Mets, and it's
- 1:44one of the reasons why I wanted to have you on, because you're so
- 1:47in tune with what is happening, not just with the Mets, but with
- 1:49the NL East and Major League Baseball as well. Before we get into the
- 1:55talk, though, I do have to say, Allison, you all have
- 1:57been doing some amazing stuff, getting a great online infrastructure in place for the
- 2:02future of what is going to be a pot of their own and also home
- 2:07run Apple sauce as well. I've talked to Maggie about that in the past.
- 2:10Can you let folks know what you're doing on the interwebs out there.
- 2:14Yeah, so we have a whole network of podcasts. A pot of their
- 2:16own is the all women led show that's part of our home run Apple Sauce
- 2:21network that's on fans First Sports Network, And so we have a Patreon If
- 2:25you want to support our work, you can go to patreon dot com,
- 2:29Slash Homeer and Applesauce. We are an independent podcast network, so yeah,
- 2:32you're doing this entirely on our own, so it's really helpful to get subscribers.
- 2:38And we've only been able to do this because people have supported our work
- 2:42and it's been really really important to us. Actually, tonight we are recording
- 2:46our two hundredth episode and celebrate our five year anniversaries. So you know,
- 2:51we've been doing this for five years now, which is crazy to think about,
- 2:54but yeah, it's been a fun ride, and we really appreciate you
- 2:59always have us on and talking about the NL East and I love hearing the
- 3:04perspective of other teams fans about how things are shaping out in any given Yeah,
- 3:08that's why I love bringing you on and congratulations on five years, two
- 3:12hundred episodes. I remember that time when you get to five hundred. It's
- 3:15special. I'll tell you that right now. You might feel burned out,
- 3:16but it's special. I'll tell you that. We we make it there.
- 3:19I'm hoping we make it to you know, another two hundred and to five
- 3:23hundred and beyond. There you go, there you go. Oh man,
- 3:25If you want to follow Allison on Twitter slash x folks at petit PhD,
- 3:31she is a great great follow Alison. Let's get into this NL East and
- 3:36first, I really want to start off with the team that you follow,
- 3:38that you cover, that you root for, which is the New York Mets.
- 3:43Again, I've mentioned her, you know, at the top of the
- 3:46show here, your co host Maggie. You know, she was on the
- 3:49podcast here a little while back, and she was somewhat skeptical about some of
- 3:53the offseason moves that were made and we're not made heading into this twenty twenty
- 3:59four season here, So if we can kind of maybe do a little revisionist
- 4:01history here, hindsight being twenty twenty when you look back on the Mets off
- 4:06season and what could the front office have done to put the Mets possibly in
- 4:12a better situation today than where they are in as we are here in mid
- 4:16May. Do you have some thoughts on that. Yeah, I think the
- 4:19biggest really swing and miss by the front office is they should have acquired that
- 4:26big bat, that extra bat in the lineup sooner. In my opinion,
- 4:30they caved and signed, finally signed JD Martinez. JD Martinez lingered on the
- 4:33market for far too long, much like a lot of other guys this offseason,
- 4:38especially a lot of the Scott Boris clients ended up getting, you know,
- 4:42the short end of the stick. Boris might have overplayed his hand a
- 4:45little bit, Yes, for once. You know, he's very good at
- 4:48his job, but sometimes every once in a while comes back to bite him,
- 4:51and this offseason was an example of that, I suppose. But yeah,
- 4:56Jad Martinez lingered on the market for far too long. So the Mets
- 4:59we're able to take advantage of that and sign him late. But I think
- 5:01that that was ultimately detrimental because you know, he didn't really have a real
- 5:05spring training, a real ramp up period, and so he wasn't with the
- 5:11team right away in April and even and he had a little bit of a
- 5:15like not injury, but he had some back soreness, and it's like,
- 5:18well, you know, when you don't give the thirty six year olds some
- 5:24spring training to ramp up, of course, it's gonna get slow. It's
- 5:28gonna be slow for him to come to mid season form, you know.
- 5:31So he was slow to join the team, and once he did join the
- 5:35team, he's been kind of slow to heat up. He did actually finally
- 5:40hit his first home run as a Met the other day, as the Mets
- 5:43narrowly avoided on the very last out of the game being no hit by the
- 5:46Atlanta Braves in the form of a JD. Martinez solo homer that rescued us
- 5:50from that particular embarrassment. I enjoyed that. I enjoyed that. I was
- 5:57I breathed a big sigh of relief. I was like, all right,
- 5:59at least seeing get no hit exactly, that's just sort of been adding insult
- 6:02to injury. But yeah, so you know, if if JD Martinez,
- 6:09you know, starts to heat up, that will be a huge boost to
- 6:12the Mets, who have been woefully inconsistent offensively. And if they had just
- 6:16had that sooner, then that would have been great, you know, or
- 6:19it did doesn't have to necessarily be Jadi Martinez. It could have been someone
- 6:23else, but the Mets clearly were at least one bat short heading into the
- 6:28season, and that was abundantly obvious to anyone paying attention, I think,
- 6:30and I think that was the biggest miss obviously, the Mets missing out on
- 6:34Yamamoto, Yoshinibo Yamamoto and the off season was a huge miss for them.
- 6:39They were like kind of the runner up. I guess him, they were
- 6:44in the mix, they missed out. Uh, you know, the level
- 6:47of blame that you want to put on the front office for that is,
- 6:50you know, your mileage may vary on that. The Mets did give did
- 6:55offer him a huge, huge contract, and the dot and the Dodgers beat
- 6:59that off, and he went to the Dodgers and he clearly wanted to be
- 7:01a Dodger. So it's kind of hard to like entirely blame the front office
- 7:05for that and say you should have signed Yamamoto. Obviously I would have liked
- 7:10that, that would have been great, but it's hard to put that solely
- 7:14on the shoulders of the front office. So really, to me, the
- 7:17biggest disappointment for me personally, other than like missing out on Yamamoto, which
- 7:21wasn't really necessarily their fault was not getting the like other big bat sooner.
- 7:28Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's it. It's it's definitely apparent the inconsistencies
- 7:32that you see from the Nets offense, and we've also seen some inconsistency too
- 7:38from a pitching standpoint starting pitching standpoint two. I mean the Mets, though
- 7:43they are slated to get back an abundance of back end starting pitching in the
- 7:46near future from what I understand what I've been reading. I wonder what having
- 7:53more back into the rotation pitching means for this team, Allison. That's really
- 7:58you know, looking to catch some sort of a spark here, and I
- 8:01wonder it's kind of a two part question, like what does that back into
- 8:05the rotation pitching mean for this team? And then I wonder how you see
- 8:11a July five man rotation kind of shaping up for the Mets as this back
- 8:16in again starting rotation or starting pitching within the rotation really starts taking shape.
- 8:22What are your thoughts here? Yeah, so, I mean, of course,
- 8:24more depth and more starting pitching. Being healthy is never a bad thing.
- 8:30You're always gonna want those guys around instead of not having them. But
- 8:35I think the Mets miss code I Sanga a lot more than they miss Tyler
- 8:39or McGill and David Peterson. You are the two guys who are very close
- 8:43to returning. The biggest problem with the Mets starting rotation to me has not
- 8:48been the performance, although guys have had individual bad performances. Adrian Hauser has
- 8:52been the biggest negative in the starting rotation. He's already been moved to the
- 8:56bullpen in favor of Christian Scott, who is the mets to starting pitching prospect.
- 9:03And Christian Scott has been excellent so far, and the Mets lost both
- 9:07games he pitched because they didn't give him any run support. Jacob de Gram
- 9:11Part two, Electric Googloo. You know, so he has been a huge
- 9:16help to the starting rotation. But the biggest problem has not been, you
- 9:20know, necessarily the quality of it. It's been more that the starters,
- 9:24with the exception of Christian Scott's first two starts, have not really gone deep
- 9:30into games. They walk too many batters as a staff, even when they're
- 9:33okay at run prevention, which they have been for the most part, save
- 9:37for a couple of isolated, you know, bad games, which everyone has,
- 9:41they've been okay at run prevention, but they deal with traffic on the
- 9:43base paths all the time because they walk too many batters, and that means
- 9:48that the starting pitcher is going five innings every night and the bullpen is being
- 9:52stretched far too thin as a result. And I don't know how much getting
- 9:56Tyler or McGill and David Peterson back, who are just kind of of also
- 10:00five and dive guys, is gonna help. I do think that they probably
- 10:05will go with a six man for a while, at least in stretches come
- 10:11July. I'm not sure exactly what that will look like because it's unclear if
- 10:15CODEI Sango will be back at that stage if he is, which I hope
- 10:20he is, but the Mets got some relatively bad news on that front recently.
- 10:26The Mets are being rather cagey about answering questions about his rehab. He
- 10:30had been progressing really really well as far as we knew up until a couple
- 10:33of days ago. Because he had faced live batters. There was talk of
- 10:37him going on a rehab assignment, so we were thinking, you know,
- 10:39back when he was first injured, you know, we could see him in
- 10:43June. That was the thought at the time, and it seemed like he
- 10:46was on track for that. A couple of days ago we learned that his
- 10:50rehab is kind of being paused. I guess it's the best way you could
- 10:52describe it. But they're not calling it a setback. They're like doing that
- 10:56Mets thing where they refuse to call the setback a setback, and they're saying
- 11:00that instead. He's working on his mechanics and he's being very meticulous. He
- 11:03says he doesn't feel injured anymore, but he's worried about a mechanical issue in
- 11:09his delivery that caused him to be injured in the first place, and fixing
- 11:11that to make sure he doesn't re injure himself. That is the story they're
- 11:16going with. I don't know how much I buy that. Right the way
- 11:20that they phreezed it and talked about like, oh, he might need a
- 11:22few more bullpens before he goes back to facing live batters. It makes me
- 11:28concerned that we're not going to see him for quite some time, and at
- 11:31this point, if he's a major contributor this season, I will be pleasantly
- 11:35surprised. I yeah, well, really quick. I asked too about like
- 11:37how you see that July five man rotation shaping up. Because I think because
- 11:43of the back end of the rotation talent that the Mets do actually have,
- 11:46I wonder if there could be some potential trade pieces there helps for this team
- 11:50to gain some assets or gain even some batting perhaps during the course of the
- 11:56season where they may they need it. I don't know, were you thinking
- 11:58the same thing perhaps, Uh, yeah, there. I've talked to some
- 12:03other folks in my various you know, Mets circles who were actually advocates of
- 12:07the Mets trading Jose Kintana in the off season to acquire some, uh,
- 12:11to fill some of their other holes in their roster. I was not supportive
- 12:15of that at the time because I did not think they had enough rotation depth.
- 12:18And you know that, I feel like I was vindicated early. But
- 12:24you know, now that they're getting McGill and Peterson back, they are gonna
- 12:26have this sort of excess. But the problem is is that Quintana, after
- 12:31being pretty good early in the season, has had two terrible starts in a
- 12:35row now, and so it's kind of like tanking his potential trade value.
- 12:39Yeah, the Mets. It's interesting They've built their entire rotation save code Ay
- 12:46Sango, who's hurt and and Christian Scott. Uh. They've built their entire
- 12:50rotation kind of of guys who are, you know, basically fourth starters,
- 12:56and it's not working that well. I mean it's but it has not been
- 13:01enough given the Mets offensive deficiencies for them to be competitive enough. It's what's
- 13:09causing them to be five hundred. The offense cannot overcome the starting pitching.
- 13:13Starting pitching being what it is is fine if you have a good enough offense
- 13:18to overcome it, and the Mets have not thus far, and that's been
- 13:20the issue. Yeah, yeah, I tell you. When I take a
- 13:22look at this NL East, it's mid May here, and the last thing
- 13:28that I thought was that the Philadelphia Phillies would be in first place, Braves
- 13:31and second, the Nationals in third, and the Mets. I mean,
- 13:35it's honestly, it's the last thing that I thought, and it's keeping baseball
- 13:39interesting, at least for us that really followed the NL East. So I
- 13:43want to move over to the Philadelphia Phillies, the team that we cover here
- 13:46at the PSD podcast show. And yes, they have the best record in
- 13:50baseball as to you know, as of us recording this much, I know,
- 13:52to your displeasure, of course. I mean, look, they're beating
- 13:58teams that they should be beating. I mean they're not beating like necessarily the
- 14:01Dodgers or necessarily the Brewers. Yet really at this point, you know,
- 14:05they're beating teams that they should be beating, just like any other team should
- 14:11be doing in their particular situation. You had a robust conversation about this on
- 14:15our last on our podcast show last week about how folks are saying, oh,
- 14:18they're not beating anybody, they're not beating any but well, they should
- 14:22be beating these teams. So that being said, uh, they have a
- 14:26bullpen that's not overextending themselves. Earlier in the season here, Bryce Harper has
- 14:31certainly come alive as of many aspects of this offense, especially over the past
- 14:35you know, five six weeks here. So as as somebody like on the
- 14:39outside of things here, how do you view the Phillies and what they're currently
- 14:43doing in the NL East. The Phillies are a very good baseball team,
- 14:46and I think that the projection systems criminally underrate them every year, and they
- 14:52they should stop doing that because every year the past few years, the Phillies
- 14:56have been better than everyone thought. And I think it's time for people to
- 15:00maybe realize that the Phillies are good. And I will be grudgingly admitted,
- 15:05but it's the truth. They are good, and I don't think I don't
- 15:09think that this is a mirage. I don't think that this is Oh,
- 15:11they're just beating up on bad teams. Good baseball teams beat bad teams.
- 15:15That's what they're supposed to do, and that's what the Phillies are doing.
- 15:18They have Their offense is quite the juggernaut when it's firing on all cylinders as
- 15:24it is currently. I think the Phillies top to bottom have one of the
- 15:26deeper lineups in baseball. The Braves are I think deeper, but the Braves
- 15:33are struggling and they have several guys who are underperforming. The Phillies don't have
- 15:37as many guys underperforming right now. To do a direct comparison to the Mets,
- 15:43for example, the Phillies are getting contributions from Alec Bohm and the Mets
- 15:46are not getting contributions from Brett Batty, and that is kind of the difference
- 15:50between these two lineups. You see contributions top to bottom in the Phillies lineup.
- 15:56The Mets are not getting that right now from the bottom part of their
- 16:00Their bench is not contributing at the moment. It was early in the season
- 16:03when the Mets were doing a little bit better and now we're not seeing that.
- 16:07And I think that's the big difference between the Phillies and the Mets right
- 16:11now as far as the offense and its consistency. The Phillies are getting consistent
- 16:15offense offensive performance. The Mets are not. The Phillies have a very good
- 16:19starting rotation that I think will continue to sustain them and this will not be
- 16:27a mirage for them. I think they have a very good rotation. Obviously,
- 16:30Zach Wheeler is excellent. Aaron Nola is doing Aaron Nola things. He
- 16:36is very good. Ranger Suarez is extremely good. Like these like this is
- 16:41a very good baseball team. And I think it's very well rounded, very
- 16:44few like true weak points in it. And I think that what they're doing
- 16:48is sustainable over the course of the season. It is if everybody stays healthy
- 16:52too. And I know that you know that's common sense, Okay, you
- 16:55gotta stay healthy if you're going to win baseball games. But look, I
- 16:59mean the have had some struggles because of some injuries. Of course. Look
- 17:03at the Houston Astros, for God's sake. I mean a team that has
- 17:04been extremely relevant over the past decade, and they have been decimated, especially
- 17:08from a starting pitching standpoint with regard to injuries. And look where they are
- 17:12at the bottom of the freaking barrel in Major League Baseball basically. So it's
- 17:17just injuries are going to help your team if you're able to stay healthy,
- 17:22you know, and injury, I should say, injuries are not going to
- 17:25help your team. You gotta stay healthy, that'll help your team. Injuries
- 17:29are going to potentially derail an entire season early on here. So anyway,
- 17:33as we're moving along here, Alison, have a two part question for you
- 17:37about the NL least here just about overrated teams and underrated teams here in the
- 17:42division. So let's start off with Let's start off with the fun overrated team
- 17:48in the NL least at this point, who do you think the most overrated
- 17:52team is within the division here? I sat there and thought about this and
- 17:56like was like, I have to give an answer other than the Mets.
- 18:00I don't want to say the Mets. I don't want to say the Mets,
- 18:02but I don't think the Phillies are overrated. I just talked about how
- 18:04good they are. I don't think the Braves are overrated because the Braves are
- 18:07still one of the best teams in baseball. And you know, the Nationals
- 18:11and the Marlins. I think it's hard to say either of them are overrated.
- 18:15So it has to be the New York Mets, does it not?
- 18:18I think, you know, Unfortunately, it's my beloved New York Mets.
- 18:22Coming into the season, people thought that they would be wildcard contenders. Obviously,
- 18:26the Mets are hovering around five hundred very easily could be a wildcard contender
- 18:30still because you know, the state of the the NL East is a very
- 18:37tough division to compete in this year, but the state of the National League
- 18:41as a whole is not so great. Eighty four wins could do it again,
- 18:45which made it all the more frustrating in twenty twenty three when the Mets
- 18:49couldn't even accomplish that, despite the fact that they you know, signed some
- 18:52big ticket free agents, etc. It's a twenty twenty four similar story and
- 19:00the Mets win eighty four games. I think they can still, but you
- 19:03know, it's early on. It's looking like the Mets were who we're supposed
- 19:08to contend for wild card and may not do so, and so by default,
- 19:11I think that kind of makes the most overrated team. All right.
- 19:15I think it's fair. I think it's fair. I love your objectivity,
- 19:18I really do. With regard to our conversation here, I know I don't
- 19:22like saying it. I've been there. I've been there. I've been there
- 19:25as a Phillies fan over the past eleven years doing this podcast show. But
- 19:27who do you think is the most underrated team in the NL? Least?
- 19:32Because I mean there's some there have been some performances from some teams, and
- 19:34it's maybe not been really really consistent, But there are some teams here that
- 19:38you look and you say, wow, they got some underrated play going on
- 19:42here. So for you, who is that? I mean? I said
- 19:47that the projection systems always criminally underrate the Phillies. But I'm actually gonna give
- 19:51this to the Washington Nationals, who I who were supposed to be you know,
- 19:56awful again, Yes, are are are in third place right now?
- 20:02They have a better record than the Mets. They are over five hundred they
- 20:06I mean, I do do I think that the Nationals are a wild card
- 20:08contender? Probably not, although I may eat those words. But they have
- 20:14been way way better than anyone probably imagined. Oh, I thought the Marlins
- 20:19were gonna Seriously, I thought the Marlins were gonna be like third or fourth
- 20:22and and the Nats were gonna be just fifth. Consistently all year. They've
- 20:26surprised me. Me too, I thought that the Marlins were gonna be way
- 20:30better than they are. The Marlins are obviously awful, and I don't think
- 20:36that that is changing. Obviously. They also just traded away one of their
- 20:40best players, so that is already the Marlins have given up. So that
- 20:42is over the the Nationals. C. J. Abrams looks like a legit
- 20:48star. He's very very good, and they've gotten, you know, great
- 20:53contributions from their their starting pitching. And you know, I just watched the
- 20:57other day. I was I live and Watchington DC. For those of you
- 21:00who don't know, so I get, you know, a little bit closer
- 21:04look at the Nationals. Most than most non Nationals fans in the NL East.
- 21:11I go to a fair number of Nats games. And I was at
- 21:15the bar the other night watching the Knicks in the playoffs, and the Nationals
- 21:21were on the other television and I watched Patrick Corbyn carve up the Red Sox
- 21:26and I was like, sure, okay, Patrick Corbyn, who hasn't been
- 21:30good in a while, is put forth solid effort. So I don't know
- 21:33if that's just a failing of the Red Sox or just you know, Patrick
- 21:37Corbyn doing a little dead cat bounce. I don't know, but the Nationals
- 21:41have been a lot better than anyone expected, and I think that, you
- 21:45know, they deserve credit for that. Absolutely, they're my most underrated team
- 21:48in the NL East right now. At this point here in mid May,
- 21:52again, folks were talking to Alison McCaig from a pod of their own.
- 21:56Check out everything they got going on over there. I listen on Apple podcasts
- 22:00and you should as well, or on whatever podcast platform you're listening to us
- 22:03on. And as we're moving along the conversation here, I'm already like thinking
- 22:07playoffs here. That's that's how overly eager I am at this point, being
- 22:11a Phillies fan offs, exact playoffs. I haven't even won anything, so
- 22:17I'm just waiting for the rug to get like pulled out from under us,
- 22:18because that's what usually happens to us Philadelphia sports fans in some way, shape
- 22:22or form, at some point during whatever season it is, for whatever team.
- 22:26But look, at this point, the Phillies, Braves, Brewers,
- 22:29Cubs, and Dodgers are all playing some really good baseball within their respective divisions.
- 22:33So again, here in mid May, Allison, if you had to
- 22:37pick which teams would be heading to the NLCS, and I know we got
- 22:41a long way to go, which two teams would they be? And why?
- 22:45Yeah? So obviously like playoff randomness is playoff randomness. The Phillies fans
- 22:51know that all too well, yep, and so but if I had to
- 22:55pick today, I would probably pick the Phillies and the Dodgers. The Dodgers,
- 23:00it's just impossible to ever bet against them. They're, in my opinion,
- 23:04still the best team in baseball despite everything, despite you know, yea
- 23:11Mamoto getting off to the slow start, despite all of that, they are
- 23:15it's impossible to bet against them. They're a jug or not. Like the
- 23:18Dodgers are just the Dodgers, and they're probably gonna end up in the NLCS
- 23:22probably, like I just can't bet against them. If I were a betting
- 23:27women, it would be impossible for me to bet against them, but i'm
- 23:30not because baseball is too random for them. As that said, I'll pick
- 23:33the Dodgers because they're just they're just too good. But I'm gonna go with
- 23:37the Phillies over the Braves, and I think that that's somewhat surprising. But
- 23:41right now they have the best record in baseball, and I think they have
- 23:44this slight edge over the Braves right now because I think that a the Braves
- 23:48are a little too injured right now, and who knows what the situation will
- 23:53become October. The Braves, I don't think will miss the playoffs because they're
- 23:59too good for that. So I think that they're going to be in the
- 24:02playoffs regardless of whether they win the NA least or they get a wild card.
- 24:07But their injuries are pretty bad. And I think that the Phillies have
- 24:14a rotation that sets them up for playoff success in that they have a really
- 24:18good, like top three slash kind of top four, really really good and
- 24:25that's kind of all you need. The twenty nineteen Nationals proved and past Phillies
- 24:29teams that have recently had playoff success have proven that all you need is a
- 24:33few good starting pitchers and that can take you very, very far in the
- 24:37playoffs. And I think the Phillies once again have that. So that is
- 24:41the main reason I'm betting on the Phillies, not even Bryce Harper, though
- 24:44of course Bryce Harper is an incredible baseball player. It's really that those top
- 24:49starters that they have. Yep, i'mkno going on wood here. Let's knock
- 24:52on wood here that it happens, all right. Well, to close our
- 24:56discussion here, Allison, And it's a very general question because I've actually been
- 25:02giving some thought to this because I'm glad that in general, the Philly sports
- 25:07teams that we cover and that we follow here at Philadelpha Sports Taple podcast show,
- 25:11you know, are generally relevant in the in the sports world. Like
- 25:17I'm very very grateful about that that I'm able to get in front of this
- 25:19microphone and talk about the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, Sixers in Union and
- 25:26it's it's not terrible, but man, there are some fan bases out there
- 25:29where I genuinely feel awful for them every now and again, So if there
- 25:33was one major League Baseball team that you're really happy you're not a fan of,
- 25:38who's that team? And why so when you send me these questions,
- 25:41this is the one I had to think the least about. I answered.
- 25:45I answered in my head in two seconds. And it's the Chicago White Sox.
- 25:48There you go, all right, easy answer for me. I mean,
- 25:52and it's I think it's in part it's there's two reasons for that.
- 25:56Number One is just like pretty obvious. Like gestures at the Chicago White Sox,
- 26:00like, look at the vibes are heinous. It's just they're so bad
- 26:07and there's no like excitement for the future. Like another bad team like the
- 26:14Marlins, you can at least squint and say, like maybe Peter Bendix can
- 26:18like do a raise thing with them and like build like a better team in
- 26:22the future. He will be, you know, horribly cheap in doing so,
- 26:26and it'll be frustrating, but maybe he's he's a talented executive and maybe
- 26:32he can build like a decent team. It's not right now, clearly,
- 26:34but maybe in the future. The Chicago White Sox I cannot even squint my
- 26:38eyes and see a positive future for that franchise, and like, not only
- 26:44that, they brought back Mike Clevenger, who is like a noted like terrible
- 26:48human being, and they just like brought him back and makes it like hard
- 26:53even if you are a person who is a fan of the Chicago White Sox,
- 26:57it makes it hard to root for them. I know, I know
- 27:02lots of White Sox fans, and so this is kind of the second reason,
- 27:04Like I know a few White Sox fans we had there isn't there's an
- 27:08all women led like White Sox podcast as well, So anytime there's another like
- 27:11all women led show, we kind of like we always have like a close
- 27:15relationship with those folks, right and we we we have talked to them a
- 27:18few times over the past couple of years, and I just my heart breaks
- 27:22for them, like I like I cannot imagine, and like, being a
- 27:26metsine sucks pretty pretty bad. It's been pretty bad in my lifetime. The
- 27:32Mets have not won a single championship in my lifetime, right, But I
- 27:34still would rather be a Mets fan every time than be a Chicago White Sox
- 27:38fan. Like their their ownership, their front office, everything in that organization
- 27:45from top to bottom. The vibes are just ranted and I can't see them
- 27:48getting any better. You got it, You got it. The vibes are
- 27:51terrible. The vibes are absolutely terrible, and it was so great talking to
- 27:56you. Allison. Please come back and join us down the Road. I
- 27:59would really really love to have you on the show anytime, Jeff. Hopefully
- 28:03the next time I join you, the gulf between our two teams will be
- 28:06even bigger. Yes, I'm a feeling it will be absolutely again, folks,

- 28:40our conversations. Let's do it down the road, my friend sounds good.
- 28:44Thank you, Jeff, what a great discussion with Alison Like I said,
- 28:48I'm kind of waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under us as
- 28:51Phillies fans as we're moving along with the season here. But look, the
- 28:55Mets have been extremely surprising. And again, like I mentioned during the course
- 28:59of our discussion, injuries can derail seasons, or at least derail parts of
- 29:03seasons. Can the Mets actually get back into some sort of contention within the
- 29:07NL East? And when I say contention, not necessarily from a division leading
- 29:12standpoint, but possibly looking to get that wildcard spot. Yeah, it's absolutely
- 29:15possible. There's still a lot of baseball to play. Washington Nationals, they've
- 29:19not been playing terrible baseball the surprising and underrated team that they are, But
- 29:25it's gonna be real interesting to follow this NL East as we continue to move
- 29:27forward here in twenty twenty four. So it's gonna do it for us here
