- 0:09Speaker 2: The World's a biget.
- 0:12Speaker 1: PODCAS Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:20Speaker 2: What's the best? Is that the best concert you ever saw?
- 0:22Speaker 2: I saw B fifty twos and a little club before
- 0:27Speaker 2: they were Big Rocks. Was awesome. And I was sitting
- 0:29Speaker 2: on the floor just in front of them, just and
- 0:32Speaker 2: this woman just literally sat on my head. She thought
- 0:34Speaker 2: I was sorry the concert, Yeah she was, so I
- 0:38Speaker 2: don't know. I don't know what she was on. And
- 0:41Speaker 2: I'm taking her right turn onto another one way street
- 0:43Speaker 2: and I hit a curve and blew out my tire,
- 0:46Speaker 2: dented my door. The trim comes off.
- 0:48Speaker 3: And they're gonna come out and be like, yeah, the
- 0:50Speaker 3: connecticu zoint's broken. It's gonna be four thousand dollars. I
- 0:52Speaker 3: don't even know what that is, but here's my four
- 0:54Speaker 3: thousand dollars.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Back in the day, your horse gets sick, you shoot
- 0:58Speaker 2: it and get another horse. I feel for Joe Mozzarella,
- 1:02Speaker 2: but you know.
- 1:03Speaker 4: That's that's I've been in the middle of my insensitivity training.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not sure, Okay, Joezuza had to write
- 1:11Speaker 2: in with my take on Eric. I started listening to
- 1:13Speaker 2: the podcast when Eric was away in Africa. While he
- 1:16Speaker 2: was gone, Andy was always saying that he hoped Eric
- 1:18Speaker 2: would get eaten by a lion. I couldn't believe how
- 1:21Speaker 2: mean that was. But then Eric came back and I
- 1:23Speaker 2: understood right away why Andy wanted him dead.
- 1:25Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered, fueled by Dunky.
- 1:30Speaker 2: All Right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:34Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium, and we're recovering from Taylor Swift. I mean,
- 1:39Speaker 2: like the chatter in the office yesterday was remarkable. I
- 1:43Speaker 2: mean just you know, women talking about the moment that
- 1:47Speaker 2: they just you know, you know, became a puddle during
- 1:50Speaker 2: the concert.
- 1:51Speaker 4: And you know, Saturday night literally Yeah.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yeah, So we're we're getting through that. But we're back
- 1:59Speaker 2: to OTAs and the Patriots and getting ready for some football.
- 2:06Speaker 3: NFL rules.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yeah, well rule, we'll talk about that. Yeah. One I
- 2:11Speaker 2: need clarification on is the touchback rule, Like what's going
- 2:16Speaker 2: on now? You can fair catch a kickoff in bounds?
- 2:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not sure Evans Mike is on.
- 2:22Speaker 3: So if you're in the end zone, or you're inside
- 2:24Speaker 3: the twenty five and you choose to fair catch it
- 2:27Speaker 3: on a kickoff, you'll get the ball at the twenty five.
- 2:30Speaker 3: So you know, if you're at the ten yard line
- 2:31Speaker 3: as a kickoff or turner, and you know.
- 2:33Speaker 2: How do we feel about that?
- 2:36Speaker 4: Yeah, different college went to it, I think in twenty eighteen,
- 2:41Speaker 4: and you know, Evan said it off air. We were
- 2:44Speaker 4: talking about it upstairs and I couldn't agree more. It
- 2:47Speaker 4: hasn't really affected the way I watched the game in
- 2:49Speaker 4: any way, shape or form, Like you just.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Get used to it.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Oh wait, wait, he's fair catching it on the eight
- 2:53Speaker 4: yard line. Oh no, that's right, that's the new rule, right.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I think they're trying their best to eliminate those collisions.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Why don't they just eliminate the kickoff? That's what they
- 3:03Speaker 2: want to do.
- 3:04Speaker 3: It does seem like they're head in that direction. I
- 3:06Speaker 3: just I mean, I'm just curious. How does the kickoff
- 3:07Speaker 3: or term make a decision like that? You know, whether
- 3:10Speaker 3: or not while the balls in the air, do you
- 3:12Speaker 3: How do you know? Is it just strictly the game situation, Like, look,
- 3:15Speaker 3: we just we need a return here and I have
- 3:17Speaker 3: to try to make a play otherwise you pretty much
- 3:19Speaker 3: just kind of take the fair catch, right, How do
- 3:22Speaker 3: you know, how can you tell when the ball's in
- 3:23Speaker 3: the air if we have a favorable.
- 3:27Speaker 4: I just think if it's one of those, if it's
- 3:29Speaker 4: if it's a high kick in any way, it's like
- 3:31Speaker 4: a punt. Still all of Evans line from off their
- 3:34Speaker 4: go ahead Evan, you could no doubt that Mic is working.
- 3:38Speaker 5: I'm not the first one to say any of these things. Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 5: it's like a punt. I assume like, if you see
- 3:43Speaker 5: that the coverage is coming down and you're probably not
- 3:45Speaker 5: going to get much of anything, then you do you
- 3:48Speaker 5: fair catch it and get it at the twenty five
- 3:51Speaker 5: for the Patriots. I think it's it's really interesting about
- 3:54Speaker 5: just the whole you know, investing so much into special teams,
- 3:58Speaker 5: especially this offseason they've gone all in on personnel changes
- 4:02Speaker 5: on special teams, and you wonder if some of these
- 4:06Speaker 5: coverage guys like how much more of their job is
- 4:10Speaker 5: getting taken away? And I think that's why there's a
- 4:12Speaker 5: lot of pushback within the league by special teams coaches
- 4:15Speaker 5: and special teams players, is because well, you're taking away
- 4:19Speaker 5: a play that's an impact play for us in this face.
- 4:22Speaker 5: At what point are we just not going to have
- 4:24Speaker 5: special teams and we're just going to be kicking field
- 4:26Speaker 5: goals and extra points and that's it. And I think
- 4:28Speaker 5: that that's why a lot of them are against it
- 4:31Speaker 5: was because it takes another away, another part of the game.
- 4:35Speaker 5: That's they're part of the game.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that's their jobs, right, and listen, I do think
- 4:41Speaker 4: you know, unfortunately, the Patriots found this out the hard
- 4:44Speaker 4: way last year. I mean, kickoff returns still played a
- 4:47Speaker 4: role in games. So I understand that they don't want
- 4:50Speaker 4: to entirely do away with the kickoff. But I mean,
- 4:54Speaker 4: I guess that they're somehow trying to portray it's about
- 4:58Speaker 4: player safety while implementing other rule changes about flexing Thursday
- 5:04Speaker 4: night games and allowing teams to play multiple times on
- 5:06Speaker 4: short rout.
- 5:07Speaker 2: That's a good point, I mean this whole third, Like
- 5:10Speaker 2: I get. Okay, so they're going to require twenty eight
- 5:12Speaker 2: days notice, which is reasonable, but still it's hard if
- 5:15Speaker 2: you've made playing reservations and booked a hotel, you know,
- 5:18Speaker 2: you have to undo you know whatever.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Fans, Yeah, fans, it's ridiculous, but they've never cared about Yeah.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Even with twenty eight days. But to me, the Thursday
- 5:26Speaker 2: night game says we don't respect what it takes to
- 5:30Speaker 2: play football. And in my opinion, you have to have
- 5:36Speaker 2: a week between games. You can have a short week
- 5:39Speaker 2: in to play tackle football. It's just it doesn't respect
- 5:43Speaker 2: the game. It doesn't respect what it takes to play
- 5:45Speaker 2: the game, and it doesn't respect the players. And that's
- 5:48Speaker 2: the bottom line with Thursday night football. I'm sorry.
- 5:51Speaker 3: I think that's all reasonable about, you know, if you
- 5:53Speaker 3: want to have to talk about should they even have
- 5:54Speaker 3: Thursday night football? But I mean, for me, for this rule,
- 5:57Speaker 3: I like it. I just I mean it's the end
- 5:59Speaker 3: of the season. It's when the games count, when you
- 6:00Speaker 3: really well.
- 6:01Speaker 2: You can't complain about Thursday night doesn't get any good
- 6:03Speaker 2: good games and then oh they can't flex, but you
- 6:06Speaker 2: shouldn't have Thursday night game. Yeah, that's the problem.
- 6:08Speaker 3: The bigger point. I just thought everybody was so quick
- 6:10Speaker 3: to complain before the twenty eight day rule was kind
- 6:14Speaker 3: of it was clarified, and I think it was the
- 6:17Speaker 3: owner of the Raiders, Mark Davis, saying like, oh, you know,
- 6:19Speaker 3: people are gonna be coming in from La and San Diego,
- 6:21Speaker 3: and then all of a sudden they're gonna get like,
- 6:23Speaker 3: that's not how it's gonna work. You'll have time. And
- 6:24Speaker 3: I understand the point you made. Fred of people make plans, flights, hotels, those.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Like like that to me as a fan, and you know,
- 6:31Speaker 4: I'm far removed from those days, but I did that
- 6:33Speaker 4: before I started working here. I used to go to
- 6:36Speaker 4: a road game every year, and absolutely a Vegas game
- 6:39Speaker 4: would have been on my docket, Like if that's a
- 6:42Speaker 4: Sunday game, and I'm I mean, I have my flight,
- 6:45Speaker 4: but I'm not, you know, necessarily going for the whole week. Right,
- 6:49Speaker 4: so even if it's a month before now, I have
- 6:51Speaker 4: to change my range.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Who I don't want to do that.
- 6:54Speaker 4: But if that's my plan, Mike, then that's fine. If
- 6:58Speaker 4: I'm already there, but I'm talking about flying in our
- 7:00Speaker 4: Friday or a Saturday. Now we have to take extra
- 7:03Speaker 4: days off of work.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean a lot of people plan these things out,
- 7:07Speaker 5: and I know reporters plan out their trips. When they
- 7:10Speaker 5: get that schedule, they all go and start booking flights
- 7:13Speaker 5: and things like that for the road games. And now
- 7:15Speaker 5: you do you have these it's.
- 7:18Speaker 4: The twenty eight days thing doesn't do really any good
- 7:21Speaker 4: at all for fans. Now for the players, that gives
- 7:24Speaker 4: them a little time at least you know it's coming.
- 7:26Speaker 4: I understand. I think that was a concession for the players.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Do you think that there's any juice though for the
- 7:31Speaker 3: players of now that this game is going to be,
- 7:33Speaker 3: you know, supposedly more of a Marquee matchup. We're trying
- 7:36Speaker 3: to make these to be big games down the stretch, like, yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 3: I know, guys talk about, hey, we're playing on Monday
- 7:41Speaker 3: night football. It's a big deal. Short rest.
- 7:43Speaker 4: You've been in the locker room mic, right, four or
- 7:46Speaker 4: five years now, when was the last time you heard
- 7:48Speaker 4: anything positive about a Thursday night game from a player?
- 7:51Speaker 2: But it gets even more complicated because isn't there a
- 7:55Speaker 2: rule that after Thursday night game you have to have
- 7:57Speaker 2: that buy? So now if all of a sudden, no,
- 8:00Speaker 2: I don't think you have have many by I mean.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Well, yeah, you don't play Thursday Sunday.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Right, But now if you're you know, it can really
- 8:07Speaker 2: screw up a schedule. Now, all of a sudden, you
- 8:09Speaker 2: didn't have that Thursday game, Now you put the Thursday
- 8:12Speaker 2: game in. I guess you just you just moving.
- 8:15Speaker 4: You're still Sundays.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the same.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't know, it's a short week that
- 8:20Speaker 2: you didn't think you were gonna have. I don't know.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I just don't like it.
- 8:23Speaker 4: It doesn't like to me for the four was it
- 8:26Speaker 4: four or five weeks? Was it thirteen?
- 8:28Speaker 3: Like thirteen to seventeen?
- 8:29Speaker 4: So five weeks of better matchups on Thursday night to
- 8:32Speaker 4: me is not worth all that. So that goes along
- 8:37Speaker 4: with it. But I'm sure they'll make it.
- 8:38Speaker 2: But it just tells me that the people that are
- 8:40Speaker 2: thinking about Thursday and night don't understand what it takes
- 8:43Speaker 2: to play football, what it does to your body. It's
- 8:45Speaker 2: not good to have to play Sunday and then Thursday.
- 8:49Speaker 3: And now we have all the data you're doing this, Yeah,
- 8:52Speaker 3: you might have two a year now, So I mean
- 8:54Speaker 3: it's headed. I mean, this is the debate you should
- 8:56Speaker 3: have been having originally when even to have Thursday games.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Now it's expanding and becoming more difficult. But I have
- 9:02Speaker 3: to say, if the end result is some better product,
- 9:03Speaker 3: then you know you're getting two fourth place divisional teams
- 9:06Speaker 3: in early December when there's a great game just sitting
- 9:08Speaker 3: there on Sunday that that you know, not enough people
- 9:10Speaker 3: are going to get to see then. But I think Paul,
- 9:12Speaker 3: you made a great point of it's just nothing can
- 9:15Speaker 3: offset how hard it is to get ready for a
- 9:17Speaker 3: game that quick, no matter who you're playing or what
- 9:20Speaker 3: kind of what's at stake.
- 9:22Speaker 5: And I know the ratings do great all always, but
- 9:24Speaker 5: I gotta admit, like I don't always watch Thursday night football. Well,
- 9:28Speaker 5: I does on unless it's unless it's a really really
- 9:31Speaker 5: good game.
- 9:32Speaker 3: You're all twenty two of you though, Yeah, that does.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Help, But I don't always watch it because you know,
- 9:37Speaker 5: I don't either, And I think that's just us, because
- 9:39Speaker 5: I mean, during you watch so much football, and it's
- 9:42Speaker 5: like sometimes you just gotta get away from it at
- 9:47Speaker 5: night and not be watching football in the middle of
- 9:49Speaker 5: the week. But I don't always watch it unless it's
- 9:52Speaker 5: it's really a good game, or if it's a good
- 9:54Speaker 5: game late and I'll flip on the fourth quarter, you know,
- 9:57Speaker 5: of the game. But I the twenty eight day, to me,
- 10:00Speaker 5: it seems a little bit weird too, because who's the
- 10:04Speaker 5: same that the team's going to be the same team
- 10:06Speaker 5: in a month, Like you know, we see so often
- 10:09Speaker 5: that teams that the bottom falls out from underneath or
- 10:12Speaker 5: somebody gets hurt, you know, a big player gets hurt.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers sprains his ankle, right, and.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Now all of a sudden he needed today. Yeah, and
- 10:19Speaker 5: he's not playing. And but you flexed it, and you
- 10:21Speaker 5: made all these concessions to flex it and all this
- 10:23Speaker 5: type of stuff, and then now three weeks later it
- 10:27Speaker 5: turns out that that's not a good game.
- 10:28Speaker 3: And so to that point too, Havan just to jump in, like,
- 10:31Speaker 3: Patriots Steelers are two teams that would kind of like
- 10:34Speaker 3: tread water enough that it's hard to like deflex that game.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You know that they're they're that kind of team.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, maybe you should shut your mic off, you hear. Anyway,
- 10:48Speaker 4: I agree with with with the sentiments. And and I
- 10:51Speaker 4: don't know why I tend to watch less Thursday night
- 10:55Speaker 4: than even Monday. I don't watch Monday night games all
- 10:57Speaker 4: the time either. And there's obvious exceptions when it's a
- 11:01Speaker 4: matchup that specifically has something to do with the Patriots
- 11:04Speaker 4: that I'm going to watch it. You know, whether it's
- 11:06Speaker 4: an opponent they're going to play the following week, or
- 11:09Speaker 4: AFC East game, you know, or you know Kansas City,
- 11:12Speaker 4: you know, someone that directly involves the Patriots. I'm going
- 11:16Speaker 4: to watch it whether it's Thursday, Sunday, whatever. But the
- 11:20Speaker 4: Thursday Night games I found last year. I watched the
- 11:23Speaker 4: very first one because I wanted to see the like
- 11:26Speaker 4: just the usability of Amazon and all that, and I
- 11:30Speaker 4: would say the rest of the games, like so whatever,
- 11:34Speaker 4: fifteen more weeks, sixteen more weeks, I probably watched it
- 11:37Speaker 4: combined ten plays.
- 11:39Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 11:40Speaker 4: I just didn't really watch the games because what the
- 11:44Speaker 4: problem they're trying to fix. I don't think the matchups
- 11:46Speaker 4: were great, and I just felt like it was not
- 11:49Speaker 4: worth the hassle of doing it, you know, going on
- 11:52Speaker 4: the streaming play and.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Even when it's good teams they're banged up, they're not
- 11:56Speaker 3: I mean, they're just trying to survive the games.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Just just think about how many times, like a guy
- 12:00Speaker 4: gets banged up and you're like, well, you're gonna hold
- 12:02Speaker 4: HM out of the Thursday night game. And so it's
- 12:04Speaker 4: not it's it's bad matchups with backup players and a
- 12:08Speaker 4: lot of a lot of cases. I just don't think
- 12:11Speaker 4: it's worth the hassle. But I know it makes money
- 12:13Speaker 4: for them at all. These you know, these billions of
- 12:16Speaker 4: dollars that that Amazon is paying to put the games
- 12:18Speaker 4: on and they.
- 12:20Speaker 3: I just definitely the minority.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I just think you need people making these decisions who
- 12:25Speaker 2: respect the game and maybe have played it at one time. Helps,
- 12:29Speaker 2: but you don't have to have that, but at least
- 12:32Speaker 2: understand what it takes to play football, you know, from
- 12:37Speaker 2: a player side, from the coaching side, from the trainer's side,
- 12:41Speaker 2: what it takes to get ready to play a football game.
- 12:43Speaker 2: And I just think that's being lost by people that
- 12:46Speaker 2: are just counting every penny that comes in. You know,
- 12:50Speaker 2: new owners that you know are way over leveraged, you know,
- 12:53Speaker 2: to buy these teams for billions of dollars and are
- 12:57Speaker 2: looking you know, to make their money back as soon
- 12:59Speaker 2: as possible. It's just not right. It's such a and
- 13:03Speaker 2: it makes sense that John Mara, who was with the
- 13:06Speaker 2: Giants you know for you know years, was furious about this,
- 13:12Speaker 2: you know, because he does get it. He's he's in
- 13:14Speaker 2: it because he loves football. He's not in it just
- 13:17Speaker 2: for the money.
- 13:18Speaker 6: You know.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Well, I wonder how uh new Raiders partial owner Tom
- 13:23Speaker 3: Brady will feel, but Doug about players getting involved.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Oh forget about how how do we feel about it?
- 13:28Speaker 2: Is that is that happening or is that just still.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Oh no, I think it was confirmed.
- 13:33Speaker 2: It's confirmed the interest, but is it gonna happen?
- 13:35Speaker 5: Yeah, they're bringing it to vote like it got past
- 13:38Speaker 5: the first got past this.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I don't I don't care for that.
- 13:43Speaker 3: I don't care for it.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I don't care for that.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I wonder how I mean, I wonder how Raiders fans
- 13:47Speaker 3: feel of, you know, the player involved in one of
- 13:49Speaker 3: the most controversial plays in their history.
- 13:51Speaker 2: The player who's earned them all his life, owns them in.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Their facility, in their in their practice facility. Is a
- 13:57Speaker 5: picture of the tuck rule, And I'm like, is that
- 14:00Speaker 5: there to like motivate people.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Might get screwed.
- 14:02Speaker 4: That's a big part of the Raiders mantra is that
- 14:06Speaker 4: they're always getting screwed. And I'll guarantee that's why.
- 14:08Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 14:09Speaker 4: There's another example, like putting It's.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Like putting the stripsack against the Eagles in the Patriot
- 14:14Speaker 5: Hall of Fame, Right, what do we We're not going
- 14:16Speaker 5: to do that?
- 14:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it's that I'd be interested to see. And we all,
- 14:24Speaker 4: I think agree that we don't think Brady's ever going
- 14:26Speaker 4: to do games for Fox.
- 14:28Speaker 2: But I didn't think at the time. I thought, by
- 14:30Speaker 2: the way.
- 14:30Speaker 4: I'm interested to see, like how can and I guess
- 14:33Speaker 4: they've made a concession that they will allow him to do,
- 14:36Speaker 4: Like I don't understand how that works, even even a
- 14:39Speaker 4: minority owner partial whatever it is, you know that a
- 14:42Speaker 4: limited part whatever he's going to officially be. He's a raider, right,
- 14:46Speaker 4: and I don't see how you can do that. I mean,
- 14:48Speaker 4: I understand this a laundry list of former players that
- 14:52Speaker 4: do these games, but they're still former and being paid.
- 14:56Speaker 2: And he used to be Fox would have the NFC game,
- 14:58Speaker 2: So all right, so he's doing just NFC matchups, you know,
- 15:02Speaker 2: that's but now it's you know, Fox can have as
- 15:04Speaker 2: many AFC games, and so every AFC game affects his team,
- 15:09Speaker 2: you know.
- 15:10Speaker 4: So like I I, I don't think it's going to
- 15:13Speaker 4: be a big deal because I don't think he's ever
- 15:14Speaker 4: going I.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Don't either games Fox.
- 15:16Speaker 4: But but so why does.
- 15:17Speaker 3: He want this?
- 15:18Speaker 2: Why does he want to be a minority owner? You're
- 15:21Speaker 2: not going to have any say he just wants.
- 15:23Speaker 3: To be invested. I think he's still I mean, I
- 15:25Speaker 3: think he's still searching for the juice. After the game.
- 15:27Speaker 3: He wants to invest himself.
- 15:29Speaker 2: But is that going to give it to him? I
- 15:30Speaker 2: don't think so.
- 15:30Speaker 4: But what if he's I mean, I don't know, But
- 15:33Speaker 4: what if he ultimately wants to be the guy the owner?
- 15:37Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you got to have a lot of money
- 15:39Speaker 2: because you have to, right, but you have to control
- 15:41Speaker 2: fifty one percent.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Right, So you know that's a team that that could
- 15:46Speaker 4: happen to with the Raiders. Mark Davis doesn't have any kids.
- 15:50Speaker 2: That's all. He's gonna sell a lot of electrolytes to
- 15:52Speaker 2: have that.
- 15:53Speaker 4: No, he's already what if what if it works? What
- 15:57Speaker 4: if he has a good you know, he ends up
- 16:00Speaker 4: forming a good partnership with Mark Davis, and then Mark
- 16:03Speaker 4: Davis ends up saying, Okay, you know what I'm gonna
- 16:06Speaker 4: when I'm gone, you're gonna take this over. Isn't that
- 16:09Speaker 4: kind of what Jordan did? Michael Jordan, but the basketball
- 16:12Speaker 4: at the Hornets, that kind of how he got the team.
- 16:14Speaker 5: I just kind of feel like they, I mean, you
- 16:17Speaker 5: know me, that's probably not right.
- 16:20Speaker 4: I apologize ahead of time.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Robert Craft, if you're listening, you got to swoop in
- 16:25Speaker 2: and stop this and make him part of our team.
- 16:28Speaker 4: But why wouldn't Robert Craft be listening. He listens every.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Day every day.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 16:33Speaker 4: I don't think you want them listening every day.
- 16:36Speaker 2: But no, we've got to do something about this.
- 16:38Speaker 5: I don't but I don't think cannot stand.
- 16:41Speaker 4: This is not cannot stand.
- 16:42Speaker 5: I don't think it's about like I don't think he
- 16:44Speaker 5: wants I think he wants the Vegas brand. Like I
- 16:47Speaker 5: I Vegas right now. Is they're talking they're going to
- 16:50Speaker 5: bring a baseball team there. The A's are going to Vegas.
- 16:52Speaker 5: There's gonna be an NBA team there eventually, And there's
- 16:55Speaker 5: really no there's no star in Vegas.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Hot market.
- 17:00Speaker 5: It's a hot market, and there's no there's no guy
- 17:03Speaker 5: in Vegas. I mean, I guess maybe like DeVante Adams,
- 17:06Speaker 5: but like, there's really no guy in Vegas. The hockey
- 17:08Speaker 5: team's fantastic, but they don't have a Connor McDavid or
- 17:11Speaker 5: like somebody like that who's one singular player. And I
- 17:15Speaker 5: think he sees a.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Business opportunity, so doesn't do it for you, but so like,
- 17:20Speaker 4: what's a good player, So just that was the most
- 17:23Speaker 4: random guy.
- 17:25Speaker 2: So you think the business opportunities, he becomes the face
- 17:28Speaker 2: of Vegas sports.
- 17:29Speaker 5: I think that he wants He already owns part part
- 17:32Speaker 5: of the Aces. Now he's going to own part of
- 17:34Speaker 5: the Raiders, and he's been in talks to bring an
- 17:37Speaker 5: NBA team to Vegas, so I think that he's gonna
- 17:39Speaker 5: be he He might want to bester Vegas like the owner,
- 17:45Speaker 5: you know, owning owning a bunch of teams.
- 17:48Speaker 3: I think that's just where the professional sports opportunities are
- 17:51Speaker 3: right now, you know, with with getting the Golden Knights
- 17:54Speaker 3: and now getting the Raiders, and I mean it's it's
- 17:56Speaker 3: where the opportunity is. I think more than him being
- 17:59Speaker 3: like I want to be mister Vegas, but it makes
- 18:01Speaker 3: more sense to me just than ever seeing him be
- 18:03Speaker 3: a commentator on TV. I don't think he was ever.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I wasn't interested in that, but I think he had
- 18:08Speaker 3: to get back into the game.
- 18:09Speaker 4: I mean, he tried to do it, and I mean
- 18:11Speaker 4: there was talk about Miami, so I know, I think
- 18:13Speaker 4: it's something that he definitely wants to do. And I
- 18:18Speaker 4: kind of agree with Mike and Evan about Vegas being
- 18:21Speaker 4: that opportunity right.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Because, like here, the team's not coming out of the
- 18:26Speaker 5: Craft name. You know, he's not He's obviously not getting
- 18:29Speaker 5: it from from Robert. He's not gonna and Jonathan's gonna
- 18:32Speaker 5: take over the team when it's time.
- 18:33Speaker 4: It would never be more than a novelty right here.
- 18:36Speaker 5: Right right someplace else like Vegas.
- 18:39Speaker 3: But how strapped are the Raiders? I mean, is that
- 18:41Speaker 3: because I remember last year there was all that that's
- 18:43Speaker 3: about how much money they don't have.
- 18:44Speaker 4: A lot of people think that's the reason why Josh survived.
- 18:47Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know if there's any truth to that,
- 18:49Speaker 4: but I know that was a theory that was prominently flowed.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I do know that. When you know they built
- 18:54Speaker 2: that stadium, Mark Davis had very little control of what
- 18:59Speaker 2: was going on. The league turned to other people to
- 19:02Speaker 2: help him out, like for example, Jerry Jones owns all
- 19:05Speaker 2: the concessions there, Like was it big, right, Yeah, was
- 19:08Speaker 2: a big consultant. They in fact, you know little inside baseball,
- 19:13Speaker 2: the Patriots were almost got involved and helped to build that.
- 19:16Speaker 2: We met and sat with the construction company and the
- 19:20Speaker 2: architects and everything, and you know, it was almost us
- 19:24Speaker 2: that we're going to be like the league consultants to
- 19:26Speaker 2: build that stadium.
- 19:27Speaker 3: How is he so cash strouped? I mean, everybody in
- 19:29Speaker 3: this league is printing money.
- 19:30Speaker 2: He never had any money.
- 19:31Speaker 3: He's just never had it.
- 19:32Speaker 2: And now Davis never had the money, you know.
- 19:38Speaker 3: But it's the point the move to Vegas. It should
- 19:40Speaker 3: turn them around for him though, right, Like I mean
- 19:42Speaker 3: this wash.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Yeah, now he's now he's getting Now, he's getting the
- 19:45Speaker 2: revenue that every owner gets. But he doesn't have that
- 19:48Speaker 2: side business or I shouldn't say side business, but he
- 19:50Speaker 2: doesn't have that other business that is the real.
- 19:53Speaker 5: Source, the paper company, right, that is true.
- 19:56Speaker 4: But they're just their businesses, that's it. Al Davis was
- 20:01Speaker 4: just a football coach, that's all it was.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Really, and everybody else. How does that happen?
- 20:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the take control of the old AFL? What
- 20:08Speaker 2: the money things happened in the old AFL.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Did the Maras have anything? I mean, were they because
- 20:11Speaker 3: I always associate them, which is kind of the giant.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Yeah, the Maras had some other business.
- 20:16Speaker 3: It was like one of those things where they bought
- 20:17Speaker 3: the team for seven thousand dollars.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Well, I do know the Rooney think the Maras and
- 20:22Speaker 4: the Rooney's I think are a little bit different because
- 20:24Speaker 4: they've been around for I mean, we're talking about like
- 20:26Speaker 4: the twenty you know, buying a team was like, you know,
- 20:29Speaker 4: that's the Hallis family in Chicago. They've been around forever.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Clark Hunt was oil absolutely. He actually had the team
- 20:35Speaker 2: in Texas first and he moved him to Kansas City.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Lamar yeah, I mean Lamar Hunt. Yeah right, it was
- 20:40Speaker 2: his father. Yeah, I don't know, but yeah, like a
- 20:45Speaker 2: bunch of them. I don't like most of these.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Maras now they like going Hollywood, right, I mean.
- 20:49Speaker 2: But you know, all these owners have a business, you know,
- 20:53Speaker 2: I know, packers are I never thought of it that
- 20:55Speaker 2: different than you know.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I didn't really think of it that way either.
- 20:58Speaker 3: You always learned this stuff brought it all home.
- 21:00Speaker 5: We have a lot of businesses. I remember in uh
- 21:03Speaker 5: in orientation they explained the whole Craft group, Umbrella, I
- 21:07Speaker 5: got the paper company, and Cager and you got the
- 21:11Speaker 5: I mean, it was it was. It was kind of interesting.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, like people just think of Robert Craft football,
- 21:17Speaker 2: but I f P is like the fifth biggest importer
- 21:21Speaker 2: in the country.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Right, and how many people just stand Yeah, like most
- 21:25Speaker 3: people think he's like crap food, right, Everybody Like I've
- 21:28Speaker 3: gotten that before, Like, oh, Craft, like Mac and cheek
- 21:29Speaker 3: Kraft Foods.
- 21:30Speaker 2: He has nothing to do with Draft food.
- 21:32Speaker 5: I just remember after orientation I went home and the
- 21:36Speaker 5: Petco box that we had delivered was made by by
- 21:40Speaker 5: Rand Whitney, and I was like, hey, there you go,
- 21:43Speaker 5: we got.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Another of their company. Yeah yeah, yeah, So you know
- 21:47Speaker 2: al And you know of course, now Mark, they don't
- 21:50Speaker 2: have that big revenue. You know, it's all what they
- 21:54Speaker 2: get from football.
- 21:55Speaker 3: It's interesting to me because they've moved their team more
- 21:58Speaker 3: than anybody, right, Like I mean they're Oakland or yeah, Vegas.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I mean they've been all over the place. Just I
- 22:05Speaker 3: don't know, that doesn't all match up to me. It's interesting, but.
- 22:07Speaker 2: No, I mean if the league had its way decades ago,
- 22:11Speaker 2: Al Davis would not have been the Raiders. You know,
- 22:14Speaker 2: they got to get.
- 22:15Speaker 3: A side hustle.
- 22:17Speaker 5: You gotta Vegas. Vegas.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Well that's the thing you know now, you know the
- 22:23Speaker 2: beauty of Vegas is like with all the casinos, there's
- 22:26Speaker 2: no problem you know, filling those luxury boxes and of
- 22:30Speaker 2: the signage and all that extra money that comes in
- 22:33Speaker 2: from your corporate base. There's plenty of money to go around.
- 22:37Speaker 3: You guys were there last year. What was the atmosphere.
- 22:39Speaker 3: I mean, did it feel like a significant portion of
- 22:41Speaker 3: true Raider fans or did it feel like there were
- 22:43Speaker 3: a large portion of people who were gambling on the
- 22:45Speaker 3: script and said, Hey, let's go see a Raiders game.
- 22:47Speaker 5: I thought that there was a pretty good amount of
- 22:49Speaker 5: Raiders fans at the regular season game we went to.
- 22:51Speaker 5: I I we were at the Golden Nights game the
- 22:54Speaker 5: night before, and that felt much more like this. You know,
- 22:57Speaker 5: we were sitting next to there's a bachelor party that
- 22:59Speaker 5: like are doing that as like their early night activity,
- 23:02Speaker 5: and like, you know, like there is a lot more
- 23:04Speaker 5: of that going on. But I thought that there was
- 23:06Speaker 5: a decent amount of like home field advantage well for
- 23:10Speaker 5: the rate.
- 23:11Speaker 2: When they first built this, I remember they asked Mark Davis,
- 23:13Speaker 2: you know, how are you going to feel about, you know,
- 23:15Speaker 2: half the stadium being people just from the other team visiting.
- 23:18Speaker 2: He's like, we understand that that's the way it's going
- 23:20Speaker 2: to be for a while, and we're okay with that.
- 23:22Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, as long as they're selling out the.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Money's money, you're selling out the suits and all that stuff.
- 23:31Speaker 3: That's where you're getting your.
- 23:32Speaker 2: That's where you make your money, right.
- 23:34Speaker 3: I wonder what a like a low price ticket, Like
- 23:36Speaker 3: if you were day a game, wanted to grab a ticket,
- 23:38Speaker 3: I wonder how hard that would be to procur procure.
- 23:40Speaker 2: A couple of chips.
- 23:42Speaker 3: That's good word, the cure ticket.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Yeah. So, but you know, this gets back to like,
- 23:49Speaker 2: you know, who's making the decisions on these things like
- 23:52Speaker 2: Thursday night games, And it's getting more and more and
- 23:55Speaker 2: more away from people who really just love football and
- 23:58Speaker 2: understand the game.
- 24:00Speaker 3: I mean, it's just do you think it's I just
- 24:01Speaker 3: I think we all find ourselves. I mean, I'll speak
- 24:03Speaker 3: for myself. I just I struggle because it's such a
- 24:05Speaker 3: violent game, and it's something that I love about the
- 24:07Speaker 3: game is the physicality of it and how hard of
- 24:09Speaker 3: a game that it is, and trying to balance doing
- 24:13Speaker 3: as much as you can to reasonably prevent injuries but
- 24:15Speaker 3: also not eating into the soul of the physicality of
- 24:18Speaker 3: the game. That I think, you know, is what drew
- 24:20Speaker 3: so many of us to this game originally. And I
- 24:23Speaker 3: think that's what everybody's afraid of, is like what point
- 24:25Speaker 3: are you going to go beyond the pale? And it
- 24:27Speaker 3: doesn't look like football anymore, it doesn't, you know, And
- 24:29Speaker 3: I don't know. If it's eliminating kickoffs, it probably would.
- 24:32Speaker 3: You'd get used to that probably pretty quick. But they
- 24:35Speaker 3: just sometimes I just wonder if there's too much, Like
- 24:38Speaker 3: we're trying to change too much always, like every year
- 24:41Speaker 3: there's seven new rules that have to be implemented to
- 24:43Speaker 3: do X, Y and Z, and I just I don't know,
- 24:46Speaker 3: I wonder if it's too much.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and there is one other thing that has gotten
- 24:50Speaker 4: a lot of the third quarterback thing.
- 24:52Speaker 3: We haven't talked about that yet now, no great news
- 24:54Speaker 3: though great os.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Mike is funny, funny man, But they put the emergency
- 25:01Speaker 4: quarterback rule back into effects, so that wouldn't count as
- 25:05Speaker 4: one of the roster spots on game day, but he
- 25:08Speaker 4: would have to be on the fifty three man roster
- 25:11Speaker 4: like always.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Right. But see, here's the thing, though, I correct me
- 25:14Speaker 2: if I'm wrong. You can have him as the emergency
- 25:17Speaker 2: quarterback and it doesn't take away from your game day roster.
- 25:20Speaker 2: But you can't just use him willie nilly. You can
- 25:23Speaker 2: only use them if your other two quarterbacks go down. Now,
- 25:26Speaker 2: I guess you could fake that, but you know you
- 25:29Speaker 2: can't fake.
- 25:30Speaker 4: But they can't go back in the game, right, you
- 25:32Speaker 4: can fake it if you want to, but if it
- 25:34Speaker 4: doesn't go well, you can't say, oh, well right, that
- 25:36Speaker 4: didn't work right.
- 25:37Speaker 2: So it's not like it's not like you know, and
- 25:39Speaker 2: I know this is what people are thinking. It's not
- 25:41Speaker 2: like Malik Cunningham can go in and out of the game,
- 25:43Speaker 2: you know.
- 25:44Speaker 3: But how great it would be if he could.
- 25:46Speaker 4: You would have to make him the second quarterback and designate,
- 25:49Speaker 4: say in this case, Bailey Zappy right in order to
- 25:52Speaker 4: do that, right, which a lot of people don't. Just
- 25:54Speaker 4: blame Alex and Alex you can blame you can blame Alex,
- 25:58Speaker 4: but but Alex isn't the only one talking about this.
- 26:01Speaker 4: A lot of other people are talking about it too.
- 26:02Speaker 4: I find it awfully hard to believe that they would
- 26:06Speaker 4: go into a game with Malik Cunningham as the number
- 26:08Speaker 4: two quarterback because you have a package of plays that
- 26:11Speaker 4: you're going to use now, you know, then you'd be
- 26:14Speaker 4: sort of you'd be sort of stuck. Now, I guess
- 26:18Speaker 4: you could get around that.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I think he could do it.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I guess you could he could.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Get around that. I guess like if mac Jones were
- 26:24Speaker 4: to get hurt and he's out for the game, like
- 26:26Speaker 4: you know he's out for the game, So you could
- 26:30Speaker 4: then go to the third quarterback and say that Malik
- 26:32Speaker 4: Cunningham is not going till return to this game. I
- 26:35Speaker 4: guess you could do it that way and get around
- 26:38Speaker 4: it seems like a loophole to me.
- 26:41Speaker 5: I think that's a good idea.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Better but then better to exploit.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Then if Malie Cunningham gets hurt, now you screw it, right.
- 26:47Speaker 5: But I just feel like if we did that, there
- 26:50Speaker 5: would be a year long investigation that would go all
- 26:53Speaker 5: the way to the Supreme Court about how the Patriots
- 26:55Speaker 5: fake Bailey Zappi's injury. So I'm just not interested in
- 26:58Speaker 5: opening that camphere.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Bailly, you're really so you don't have to fake, you
- 27:03Speaker 2: just you just declare that Zappi is out, he's not
- 27:06Speaker 2: eligible anymore.
- 27:07Speaker 5: I don't wait, wait, no, you have to have some
- 27:10Speaker 5: sort of confusing me.
- 27:13Speaker 4: You wouldn't want you'd want Bailey Zappi to play like
- 27:16Speaker 4: you wouldn't like my guess. Let's just let's play this
- 27:19Speaker 4: out right. Okay, it's a hypothetically, but I think none
- 27:22Speaker 4: of us really thinks. So if you're going to get
- 27:26Speaker 4: Malik Cunningham is the number two, you don't have to
- 27:30Speaker 4: fake anything with Bailey Zappy.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Correct, just say that Zappi is not he's the third quarterback.
- 27:36Speaker 4: You don't have to say anything the third quarterback. But
- 27:40Speaker 4: what that means is if Mac Jones is hurt, you
- 27:44Speaker 4: live and die with MALIEK. Cunningham as your quarterback, or.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Or you fake Malik Cunningham.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Correct.
- 27:51Speaker 5: If Millie Cunningham comes in and it's an absolute disaster,
- 27:54Speaker 5: Oh he pulled a hammy.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Now now he's out for the game. Jones is out
- 27:59Speaker 4: for the game, and you go with your third quarterback Zappy,
- 28:02Speaker 4: and then you go that's the loophole, right, But I
- 28:06Speaker 4: don't I could just see Malie Cunningham's doing really bad
- 28:09Speaker 4: on the sideline.
- 28:10Speaker 2: You know, one of the coaches hits him over the head.
- 28:12Speaker 2: He's got a concussion.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Your second We can't fool around with head.
- 28:16Speaker 5: He's got comes the thirteenth month of instigations.
- 28:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there are ways around it. I just
- 28:23Speaker 4: you know what, what's I think Malik cunning him is
- 28:25Speaker 4: enough to worry about right now, other than you know,
- 28:28Speaker 4: his his package of plays for the opener against Philadelphia.
- 28:32Speaker 5: I just don't can we got to cutting him on Thursday,
- 28:35Speaker 5: throw a football before we started to crown him as
- 28:38Speaker 5: this this this taste some heavy tra yeah, knowing them,
- 28:43Speaker 5: it probably would be after all this Malek cunning him.
- 28:46Speaker 4: So just another wrinkle. The third quarterback is back, the
- 28:49Speaker 4: emergency quarterback.
- 28:50Speaker 3: And one of the news d back is going to
- 28:53Speaker 3: be on NBC the pre game.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Kevin mccordy. Good gig to land right, yea, Paul, have
- 28:57Speaker 2: you gone to Twitter yet to you know, say how
- 29:00Speaker 2: she deserves this opportunity. I have not always going to
- 29:02Speaker 2: kill it.
- 29:03Speaker 4: I have been rafted.
- 29:04Speaker 3: You're crafting that one? Yeah, I have not.
- 29:07Speaker 5: Are we going to release official statement?
- 29:09Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 29:09Speaker 4: Maybe I'll just send them a text.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Paul and I have a running like just people just
- 29:14Speaker 2: want to like get in insert themselves into someone else
- 29:18Speaker 2: about good fortune.
- 29:19Speaker 3: It's about you.
- 29:20Speaker 5: Yeah, you know it does do well. You get you
- 29:22Speaker 5: get all the likes and tweets.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Oh yes, oh yeah yeah so Fred and no socks
- 29:27Speaker 4: and I have a running joke when something like that
- 29:30Speaker 4: happens and it's it's like clockwork everything you know, and
- 29:34Speaker 4: and I and I admit.
- 29:35Speaker 2: My day don't forget to go on Twitter and remind
- 29:38Speaker 2: people you know.
- 29:39Speaker 4: You're the one that has the wonderful mother right.
- 29:41Speaker 5: Thanks, My mother who doesn't have Twitter, right, you know,
- 29:44Speaker 5: might as well.
- 29:45Speaker 2: How you know, all mothers are the rock of the family,
- 29:48Speaker 2: you know, just remind everybody.
- 29:49Speaker 4: That and and harm.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Why don't you go tell your wife. You don't need
- 29:54Speaker 2: to tell Twitter.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Tell her it's my thoughts exactly. Well, Facebook, the big
- 30:00Speaker 3: one too, with the like birthday tribute like this woman
- 30:03Speaker 3: right here, she keeps this household to get you know,
- 30:06Speaker 3: you have to write like a big, long, right tribute
- 30:08Speaker 3: on her birthday or else you don't like her.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I think all right? Anyway, eight five five PATS five
- 30:15Speaker 2: hundred is the ACE ticket hotline. Web radio at Patriots
- 30:18Speaker 2: dot com is the email addressed.
- 30:20Speaker 4: We getting emails and calls because I know that's Internet.
- 30:24Speaker 2: We did get some late breaking news just before the
- 30:27Speaker 2: show that in Jets practice, Aaron Rodgers may have tweaked
- 30:32Speaker 2: his ankle a little bit. It was off of the sideline.
- 30:34Speaker 2: It didn't look right.
- 30:36Speaker 4: I mean, they might be able to save the ankle,
- 30:38Speaker 4: but it didn't look I'm looking good for I'm just
- 30:41Speaker 4: on Twitter.
- 30:43Speaker 2: It's nothing.
- 30:43Speaker 3: I don't I have no idea.
- 30:45Speaker 8: I'm not even really that good.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Uh yeah, no, no, updates. I just see the Rassini
- 30:50Speaker 3: Rassini tweets.
- 30:52Speaker 5: Doesn't look good.
- 30:53Speaker 3: No, it doesn't look good.
- 30:54Speaker 4: No updates. I mean that says a lot.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Yeah, what are they gonna run over to Diana Resenion?
- 31:00Speaker 5: He's the best? Was is yesterday? He he like scrambled
- 31:04Speaker 5: for a touchdown with the.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Red jersey, and I was like, Oh, they didn't really
- 31:10Speaker 4: just put this out there like pump fakes scrambles for
- 31:13Speaker 4: a touchdown, Like that's not what you're supposed to do.
- 31:15Speaker 2: In seven on seven.
- 31:17Speaker 3: It's like you're not supposed to have the one's open
- 31:19Speaker 3: and seven on seven Now I run.
- 31:21Speaker 4: Now, I get like, you know, Rogers running play, you know,
- 31:25Speaker 4: I get that, but like it doesn't mean you have
- 31:27Speaker 4: to applaud it as a touch Like I.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Don't want to say that I'm jaded now about OTA practices,
- 31:34Speaker 3: but I just am realistic and people and I don't
- 31:36Speaker 3: want to ever not get excited to see it. And
- 31:38Speaker 3: I am excited to see it, but you just have
- 31:40Speaker 3: to be realistic about what you're going to actually see
- 31:42Speaker 3: out there.
- 31:42Speaker 4: And I thought Mike had a good line in his
- 31:45Speaker 4: Sunday Notes just you know, last year at this time
- 31:48Speaker 4: Trey Nixon was catching passes all over the place. He
- 31:51Speaker 4: was not on the active roster in the twenty twenty
- 31:53Speaker 4: two seasons. So just a little perspective right there.
- 31:56Speaker 3: It's like who's out there? Like I am interested? You
- 31:58Speaker 3: know some of the guys that were injured. Are they anticipating?
- 32:00Speaker 3: Are people there? But I mean, are we gonna figure
- 32:03Speaker 3: out what Bill O'Brien's got planned for this season? And
- 32:05Speaker 3: you know, shirts and T shirts.
- 32:07Speaker 5: I think you might get some foundational elements of what
- 32:09Speaker 5: they have planned, which is what I'm looking forward to
- 32:12Speaker 5: because I think this is when you put in your
- 32:14Speaker 5: core stuff, Like this is when you put in what
- 32:16Speaker 5: they would call basic, right, like you're not gonna go
- 32:19Speaker 5: out there and like last year hopefully when they started
- 32:22Speaker 5: running outside zone all over the place and then they
- 32:24Speaker 5: barely used it, Like hopefully this is different.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah, they tell us that, you know, they put things
- 32:28Speaker 2: in now so that when they get to training camp,
- 32:30Speaker 2: they're not starting completely from scratch. You know, they're got
- 32:34Speaker 2: something to build on.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Just think gets some pretty passes to watch in shorts,
- 32:38Speaker 3: you know. I mean it's like there's nothing you're gonna
- 32:39Speaker 3: take on defense, you know, I mean, who's playing the passes, right, Well,
- 32:44Speaker 3: that's what Treey Nixon was right.
- 32:45Speaker 4: It's all about personnel groups. That's all I look at.
- 32:48Speaker 4: You know, this is why I find out that, you know,
- 32:52Speaker 4: Ronnie Perkins isn't in the mix and like a you.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Know Malcolm Butler is.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Yeah, that's how you know you find well, I bet
- 33:00Speaker 4: that's a guy that they might have some some promise.
- 33:03Speaker 3: I mean maybe with mccordy in that, but even that,
- 33:06Speaker 3: it's like, well, it's probably gonna be Dugger and Phillips
- 33:08Speaker 3: South there and they're just gonna have a base defense
- 33:10Speaker 3: and you know, it's not like we're going to be
- 33:11Speaker 3: seeing all the different packages there.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Because even that you have to be careful of. And
- 33:14Speaker 4: another thing that Mike reesaid was the information about Michael
- 33:17Speaker 4: Owen having surgery, so he's not going to be out there,
- 33:20Speaker 4: so someone, you know, maybe one of the rookies will
- 33:22Speaker 4: be at at guard one of the draft.
- 33:24Speaker 2: At least we don't have to spend an hour wondering
- 33:26Speaker 2: who's calling plays because who's going to.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Do that, who's got the walkie talking. That's a good point.
- 33:32Speaker 2: It's a welcome I mean, they all have radio.
- 33:35Speaker 4: Rather than study the coaches we can at least go
- 33:37Speaker 4: back to watching the actual per I do.
- 33:39Speaker 5: I do hope that we get out there in all
- 33:42Speaker 5: seriousness and Mac Jones is the unquestioned guy, like he's
- 33:46Speaker 5: carrying himself that way, and I think that those are
- 33:48Speaker 5: what I think. He already had a few a few
- 33:51Speaker 5: notes about that recently, that that Mac is leading. How
- 33:56Speaker 5: do we know he can lead? Or something like that
- 33:58Speaker 5: was one of his sources said. But I do hope
- 34:01Speaker 5: that that's what we see on Thursday, that Mac is
- 34:05Speaker 5: mact in control, in control, He's there's no I can't.
- 34:10Speaker 5: I have no time for this quarterback competition this summer.
- 34:13Speaker 5: I think it's a waste of everybody's time.
- 34:14Speaker 4: Quite frankly, I'm not anticipating one either.
- 34:17Speaker 5: So I I just I hope that that's why it should.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Be Mac's job to lose. Yeah, period period. So it is.
- 34:25Speaker 4: But do you really think there's a chance that he
- 34:26Speaker 4: could lose it?
- 34:27Speaker 2: Oh?
- 34:28Speaker 3: I don't. I don't. I'm with him, I don't really Camp.
- 34:31Speaker 3: I think we've talked about this.
- 34:32Speaker 4: I don't think he could lose it in camp. I
- 34:33Speaker 4: think he could lose it during the season.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
- 34:36Speaker 4: I don't think he could lose it in camp Y.
- 34:38Speaker 4: I don't think it's a true It.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Could be something happened this year and I'm not talking
- 34:41Speaker 2: about injury that he's just so awful, But I I'm
- 34:46Speaker 2: betting against that. I'd be willing to bet against that.
- 34:49Speaker 3: I just I think it's when that when it gets
- 34:50Speaker 3: the going gets tough, that's when I feel like we'll
- 34:53Speaker 3: be for Mac to either prove he can do it
- 34:55Speaker 3: and bounce back and you know, stand strong when you're
- 34:58Speaker 3: going against good teams and it's not going your way.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Those are the things that I can to see him.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Push one of Evans simulators.
- 35:05Speaker 5: No, they don't want to.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I don't have Patriots at eleven and six.
- 35:09Speaker 5: I don't.
- 35:10Speaker 3: I don't like you could put anything on a graphic
- 35:13Speaker 3: and people will believe it.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I'm like, like, who put.
- 35:15Speaker 4: This on a graph?
- 35:16Speaker 3: Not real?
- 35:17Speaker 2: No, it is real, But it's like.
- 35:19Speaker 3: They felt the need to put it on a graphic.
- 35:20Speaker 5: It's like as if to say like that this makes
- 35:23Speaker 5: it have actual.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Madden says, so.
- 35:27Speaker 4: Graphic it said the Celtics had ninety seven the series.
- 35:31Speaker 5: Well, last week Barth showed me the simulator and you
- 35:35Speaker 5: know him. He's like, this is the greatest thing. And
- 35:38Speaker 5: he's so he simulates the season for the Patriots and
- 35:41Speaker 5: Mac had forty five hundred yards, thirty touchdowns to nine interceptions,
- 35:46Speaker 5: and Ramandra Stevens had had seventeen hundred yards from scrimmage.
- 35:49Speaker 5: And I looked at him. I was like, this, this
- 35:50Speaker 5: is crap, Like what are you talking? This is not
- 35:52Speaker 5: gonna happen, Like this is why why are we even
- 35:54Speaker 5: giving this a time of day if that's what it's
- 35:56Speaker 5: gonna simulate, And it had the Patriots even despite that,
- 36:00Speaker 5: the Patriot's going eight and nine, And I was like,
- 36:02Speaker 5: so Mac is gonna throw for forty five hundred yards
- 36:05Speaker 5: and thirty touchdowns and Remondre is gonna be an All
- 36:07Speaker 5: Pro running back statistically and they're gonna go eight and
- 36:10Speaker 5: Nine's like, no, no, this thing is crap. It's crap.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Whatever Evan, I'm gonna do it again.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Oh oh.
- 36:15Speaker 5: They did a whole show on it him in uh
- 36:18Speaker 5: An Interurn Mike cad Lick. They did an entire show
- 36:21Speaker 5: U going through the PFF simulator and whether and whether
- 36:26Speaker 5: they agree with it or not. Like I was just like,
- 36:31Speaker 5: this is just crazy that the like this is just crap.
- 36:34Speaker 5: At least a mock draft has like some sort of
- 36:37Speaker 5: you know, sele of content is.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Then in this game this right, I'm gonna, I'm gonna.
- 36:44Speaker 4: I have no idea about like records, you know, and
- 36:46Speaker 4: all that stuff, but like like numbers and stuff like,
- 36:50Speaker 4: I think numbers can fluctuate like that. I like, I
- 36:54Speaker 4: don't think it's completely outrageous to suggest forty five hundred
- 36:57Speaker 4: yards and thirty touchdowns. I don't know what that'll translate to. Yeah,
- 37:01Speaker 4: like does that mean instead of fifteen rushing touchdowns you
- 37:04Speaker 4: only had five? Like, so your touchdowns are roughly the same, right, yeah,
- 37:08Speaker 4: you know, like I don't not just punching them in
- 37:09Speaker 4: how many points?
- 37:10Speaker 3: To me?
- 37:10Speaker 4: In a you know, in a seventeen game season, you
- 37:13Speaker 4: should be throwing for over four thousand yards routinely, So
- 37:16Speaker 4: forty five to me is not outrageous.
- 37:18Speaker 3: It's probably high, I agree with Evan.
- 37:20Speaker 5: But forty five hundred and thirty touchdown pass you should.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Like, you should like to me, those are kind of
- 37:26Speaker 4: average numbers nowadays.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Well they're good quarterback numbers. Yeah, good, good, yeah, yeah
- 37:31Speaker 2: good quarterback.
- 37:32Speaker 5: Daniel Jones just got paid and he had I think
- 37:35Speaker 5: fifteen touchdown passes flash but talking about it.
- 37:41Speaker 4: That's true. But he also ran a lot like I
- 37:43Speaker 4: don't think he's going to get like Lamar Jackson, and
- 37:46Speaker 4: you know that the other you know, Jalen Hurts, they're going.
- 37:48Speaker 3: To run around and.
- 37:52Speaker 4: You two are killing me today.
- 37:55Speaker 2: I don't know what.
- 37:55Speaker 5: I don't know what happened.
- 37:56Speaker 4: I don't know what happened to my staff. Everybody's just
- 38:00Speaker 4: off the rest.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Little social media violence in Kansas City. Patrick Maho tweeted
- 38:07Speaker 2: out or whatever he used Instagram to say, the Phoenix Coyotes.
- 38:11Speaker 2: He said, you ought to move to Kansas City, and
- 38:13Speaker 2: someone from the social media the Coyotes said you ought
- 38:16Speaker 2: to spend more time keeping your little brother out of jail.
- 38:22Speaker 3: You can't a menace.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Just as an example, how quickly would I be fired
- 38:29Speaker 4: if I if I.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that wouldn't be on Twitter. But I guess if
- 38:36Speaker 2: you're the Phoenix Coyotes.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Right, what have they got? I mean they got no stadium.
- 38:40Speaker 5: Some of these teams, like the Carolina Hurricanes are another
- 38:43Speaker 5: one that they get real snarky on Twitter. Some of
- 38:48Speaker 5: the teams that you're not going to take shots at
- 38:50Speaker 5: the Hurricanes, the Chargers, like these teams that aren't actually relevant,
- 38:54Speaker 5: they try to make themselves relevant by being snarky on Twitter.
- 38:57Speaker 5: I remember last year the when the Kines knocked the
- 39:00Speaker 5: Bruins out in the first round. They like made like
- 39:04Speaker 5: this whole thing about Bruins fans like saying like Bruins
- 39:07Speaker 5: in six or like, you know, Hurricanes thing. It's like,
- 39:10Speaker 5: the Bruins are an original six franchise. They have multiple
- 39:13Speaker 5: Stanley Cup championships. You're the Carolina Hurricane. You weren't even
- 39:17Speaker 5: a real team twenty years ago, and you're talking all
- 39:20Speaker 5: this crap, Like, yeah, it drives me nuts.
- 39:22Speaker 2: You know, I don't mind it.
- 39:24Speaker 4: I think it's I think I think it's funny if
- 39:28Speaker 4: it's done well. Yeah, and I think it can be
- 39:30Speaker 4: done well. Like the Arizona thing. To me, that's not that.
- 39:33Speaker 4: That to me wasn't funny. And as much as I'm
- 39:36Speaker 4: with everybody else on Patrick Mahomes's brother, he's pretty annoying
- 39:40Speaker 4: and maybe even worse, you know, depending on what the
- 39:43Speaker 4: actual severity is of right what got him in trouble.
- 39:46Speaker 4: But everybody has been sort of campaigning for the Coyotes,
- 39:51Speaker 4: Like I saw a whole thing for the Hertford Whalers
- 39:53Speaker 4: to come back, you know, and uh, you know, like
- 39:56Speaker 4: bring him back to Hartford and this is what we
- 39:58Speaker 4: could do. We could build a new r you know. Yeah,
- 40:00Speaker 4: like did they similarly shoot back up?
- 40:03Speaker 3: You know, like right to me?
- 40:05Speaker 4: Like that's that was a little bit.
- 40:06Speaker 5: Just don't come after the fans.
- 40:08Speaker 2: You went from zero to one hundred real quick.
- 40:10Speaker 5: Just don't don't come after the fans. If you want
- 40:12Speaker 5: to go after other teams, like the Chargers, like with
- 40:14Speaker 5: their schedule release, you know, they poke fun at all
- 40:16Speaker 5: the other teams and stuff, fine, but don't come after
- 40:19Speaker 5: the fans.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Well, don't go after family members either, you know, like
- 40:22Speaker 2: you don't.
- 40:22Speaker 5: Don't don't punch pullow the belt.
- 40:23Speaker 4: Yeah, if it's funny, I like it, but most of
- 40:27Speaker 4: them aren't really all that funny crack team of guys
- 40:30Speaker 4: in here.
- 40:31Speaker 2: All right, Yeah, we h. I know that if you're
- 40:33Speaker 2: listening to this, you're going to be listening as a podcast,
- 40:36Speaker 2: probably because we're not streaming live. We've got some problems,
- 40:42Speaker 2: but that's that's okay. We get people calling in anyway. Well,
- 40:46Speaker 2: let's go to Sean and Vancouver on the A stick
- 40:48Speaker 2: and hotline. What's up? Sean, Sean, all the phone's at
- 40:53Speaker 2: working either dead.
- 40:54Speaker 4: I think that's a U issue.
- 40:56Speaker 2: No, Sean, what's up, Sean? Okay, emails, Yep, we'll have
- 41:01Speaker 2: to go to emails. Emails are coming in.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Oh wait, there's nothing there.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Taylor Swift broke our internet?
- 41:10Speaker 2: I think, yeah, I think that might be the case.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Actually, did you get to get to no, No, far away,
- 41:19Speaker 4: far far away, far far away?
- 41:21Speaker 3: I should tell I bailed, just bailt I know. On
- 41:25Speaker 3: Thursday I was I was wondering, but yeah, we were.
- 41:27Speaker 3: We're out too much rain.
- 41:28Speaker 4: My wife said it was absolutely fantastic, even in the
- 41:31Speaker 4: poor and rains. Oh yeah, people, I mean it was
- 41:34Speaker 4: that she put on a phenomenal con.
- 41:36Speaker 2: It was like a revival.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Yeah. I heard it from a lot of people who
- 41:39Speaker 3: just felt the whole thing was kind of lukewarm, not
- 41:41Speaker 3: not that great, just kidding. No one said that. Everyone
- 41:43Speaker 3: says it's amazing. Have you heard of anybody that was
- 41:47Speaker 3: like it was?
- 41:47Speaker 2: Ok?
- 41:49Speaker 4: The only like place of reference I have is my
- 41:53Speaker 4: wife and three nieces that she took, so I wouldn't
- 41:56Speaker 4: know what anybody was saying.
- 41:57Speaker 3: And all the people that were standing like in the
- 41:58Speaker 3: parking lot, I mean, you know, I just it was
- 42:01Speaker 3: it was insane. Here, it was insane.
- 42:03Speaker 4: And that said, it's a much different crowd because she
- 42:05Speaker 4: only saw three people being taken out. Yeah, and usually
- 42:11Speaker 4: Chesney it's like, yeah, although you get that every ten minutes.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Like all the all the men's bathrooms were coming dard
- 42:17Speaker 2: and like women being in urine all the nuts.
- 42:21Speaker 3: It was a couple like fourteen year olds who just
- 42:23Speaker 3: couldn't handle it. They had to be escorted out. They
- 42:24Speaker 3: were so overwhelmed seeing Taylor Swift in person, those kind
- 42:27Speaker 3: of things that's not really drunk crazy fight people at
- 42:30Speaker 3: Taylor Swift concerts.
- 42:31Speaker 5: I'm guessing I would go to Taylor Swift if it
- 42:35Speaker 5: if it wasn't for the teenage girl factor. Yeah, like
- 42:40Speaker 5: that's like where I can't get over because I can't go.
- 42:42Speaker 5: And I went to Beyonce and jay Z a couple
- 42:45Speaker 5: of years ago whenever that was and and just the
- 42:47Speaker 5: screaming and I just went for I'm like Beyonce is fine,
- 42:51Speaker 5: but I love jay Z. So I went to go,
- 42:53Speaker 5: you know, really see jay Z as part of the
- 42:55Speaker 5: concert and just screaming for Beyonce. I was just like
- 42:58Speaker 5: this is why, Like this is just not.
- 43:01Speaker 3: As part of the discussion in our household as we
- 43:03Speaker 3: were trying to decide to go. Rain was a big factor,
- 43:05Speaker 3: but also just like dealing with the whole atmosphere because
- 43:08Speaker 3: like no offense, but not in it, you just kind
- 43:10Speaker 3: of want to see a show.
- 43:11Speaker 5: Taylor Swift is really my generation, like people in their
- 43:15Speaker 5: twenties or early thirties, like myself, because she came out
- 43:18Speaker 5: when I was in like I think eighth or ninth grade,
- 43:22Speaker 5: so like that that's her core fan base. Like people
- 43:25Speaker 5: my age are like the people that are like her,
- 43:28Speaker 5: you know, original OG fans, And now you have like
- 43:31Speaker 5: these like thirteen year old girls that are like jumping
- 43:33Speaker 5: on now. And it's like, I gotta be honest with you,
- 43:36Speaker 5: like this doesn't make me want to go to the
- 43:38Speaker 5: concert because I don't want to deal with this.
- 43:40Speaker 4: Yeah, real, just a real quick addendum to the Thursday
- 43:43Speaker 4: night flex scheduling thing. And I just saw a quote
- 43:46Speaker 4: attributed to Jerry Jones. I'm reading on the scroll and
- 43:50Speaker 4: it just said it's it's a great thing for the
- 43:52Speaker 4: majority of our fans.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Yeah, And I.
- 43:54Speaker 4: Think that speaks volumes as to what the league worries about.
- 43:59Speaker 4: They don't care about the guy who's actually spending his
- 44:01Speaker 4: time and money to come to your event. They don't
- 44:03Speaker 4: care if they're in empty stadiums, right, because they're not
- 44:06Speaker 4: making the money off of you, Right, They're making the
- 44:09Speaker 4: money off of the people and the billions and billions
- 44:11Speaker 4: of dollars they're getting to televise these games, and if
- 44:14Speaker 4: they can get more eyeballs, they can charge more money
- 44:16Speaker 4: for the networks to broadcast the games. That's all they
- 44:19Speaker 4: care about.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Yeah, Andy and Cleveland. As we approach Memorial Day this week,
- 44:25Speaker 2: I thought it'd be a good time to revisit the
- 44:26Speaker 2: offseason show topic of ranking hot dog brands.
- 44:31Speaker 4: I don't remember doing that one.
- 44:32Speaker 5: I think we had a question number one.
- 44:34Speaker 2: As podcasts listener, I missed the chance to chime in
- 44:36Speaker 2: on the day this came up last year, and when
- 44:38Speaker 2: I wrote in for the next show, Fred decided shut
- 44:41Speaker 2: down the hot dog discussion.
- 44:42Speaker 3: I don't have any I must have been a vacab.
- 44:44Speaker 8: I haven't read brands in the five years I've been here.
- 44:47Speaker 2: I got to leave time for the soap with a
- 44:49Speaker 2: slot talk after all. Anyway, my comment last year was
- 44:52Speaker 2: that you guys had a whole talk about hot dogs,
- 44:54Speaker 2: and no one even mentioned Ballpark the Michael Jordan of
- 44:58Speaker 2: hot dogs. That would probably get my vote. But I
- 45:00Speaker 2: agree with Fred that he is pretty good. Regardless of
- 45:04Speaker 2: the brand, they definitely taste better grilled or especially at
- 45:07Speaker 2: a baseball game.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Bill Park.
- 45:08Speaker 5: Frank's is your number one Hebrew Nationalist one.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I like Hebrew national all beef. You can't get the
- 45:15Speaker 2: you know, you know, uh low beef one or Kayam
- 45:19Speaker 2: is good too.
- 45:20Speaker 5: I think that's Frank Kayam is the brand?
- 45:24Speaker 3: Is that what you're gonna say?
- 45:25Speaker 5: I know I was gonna say, Pearl hot dogs. Pearls
- 45:27Speaker 5: are good, Pearls are number one, pearl pearls.
- 45:30Speaker 4: Are very good. I used to actually know that family
- 45:34Speaker 4: hundred years ago. Reships.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Again, those are those are some hefty hot dogs. So
- 45:39Speaker 5: you gotta be you're you're you're eating the meal there.
- 45:42Speaker 5: But Paul Park Franks, my goodness, Like, come.
- 45:44Speaker 2: On, I mean, listen, in a pinch, I'll eat him.
- 45:46Speaker 4: I love, but I would agree with the ones that
- 45:51Speaker 4: you guys have put above it.
- 45:52Speaker 2: I would have. And and what's your like? I know
- 45:56Speaker 2: the easy way is you just boil him and eat him.
- 45:59Speaker 2: But like, if you have your brothers what's the best
- 46:02Speaker 2: way to cook them that tastes the best in your opinion?
- 46:06Speaker 3: I mean I could go a lot of different ways,
- 46:07Speaker 3: because I do like a good grilled, little crispy hot
- 46:10Speaker 3: dog grilled sometimes, but I also like to cut them
- 46:12Speaker 3: in half like five guys doesn't, and and cook them
- 46:14Speaker 3: on the flat top and then kind of get anose
- 46:16Speaker 3: in that way.
- 46:16Speaker 2: I liked them.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Those are my two fried in butter.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Isn't bad fried and butter?
- 46:20Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, I've tried to look at his belly.
- 46:27Speaker 4: I've tried them all.
- 46:28Speaker 5: I kind of like broiling them. Yeah, that's what my
- 46:31Speaker 5: dad used to do in the winter time, and you know,
- 46:34Speaker 5: kind of gives that same grill. It's kind of like
- 46:37Speaker 5: grilling them a little bit.
- 46:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:40Speaker 2: No, I do love my hot dogs.
- 46:42Speaker 3: And how do you now them?
- 46:43Speaker 2: See in New England people don't know how to eat
- 46:45Speaker 2: a hot dog. You eat a hot dog with spicy mustard,
- 46:49Speaker 2: spicy brown mustard and sour kraut. That's how you eat
- 46:52Speaker 2: a hot dog. Yeah that's fine, but you don't have
- 46:54Speaker 2: you can't get sour krowd up here.
- 46:56Speaker 4: Well, that's what I was going to say, Like, where
- 46:57Speaker 4: do you get.
- 46:57Speaker 2: The sour right you can't get it up here.
- 46:59Speaker 4: I just go onions with them with Yeah, there you go. Yeah,
- 47:03Speaker 4: mustard and onions were tried on a hot dog. Paul
- 47:07Speaker 4: Pearl knew that was coming. See now this year we
- 47:09Speaker 4: won't have to do that because we'll have Malie Cunningham
- 47:12Speaker 4: to entertain us.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Welcome, Welcome.
- 47:14Speaker 5: I'm trying to get you sent to me by Pearl
- 47:17Speaker 5: by saying.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Well your hot dog buns? Do you like the buns
- 47:21Speaker 2: that have the brown on the outside of New England buns.
- 47:24Speaker 4: That are Martin the white? I like the white on
- 47:27Speaker 4: both sides.
- 47:27Speaker 2: You like the white on both sides?
- 47:28Speaker 5: Yea, I should try those Martins.
- 47:31Speaker 2: They're like potato rolls, Yeah, potato bread.
- 47:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:33Speaker 5: I love that.
- 47:33Speaker 3: This is a hot dog I never thought i'd take
- 47:35Speaker 3: because I don't really.
- 47:38Speaker 5: Yes, bad, big big hot dog. Family, big hot dog.
- 47:43Speaker 3: But you gotta do the beef though, right, because.
- 47:46Speaker 2: I made the worst mistake once when I was a kid.
- 47:48Speaker 2: It was either my mother's birthday or Mother's Day. I
- 47:51Speaker 2: got her a hot dog maker and she.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Looked at me like like you like, you put the
- 47:55Speaker 3: intestine here me one.
- 47:57Speaker 2: That had like the little the process. Yeah, and you
- 48:00Speaker 2: put them on semi. Yeah, and I brought her that
- 48:03Speaker 2: and she's like, no, this is.
- 48:05Speaker 4: I remember one year when we were still in Walpole
- 48:07Speaker 4: Park for the Red Sox opening day. Once remember Bobby
- 48:11Speaker 4: uh what was his name, Bobby Nichols.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, he had like a whole tail game.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Inside Wallpole with the George Foreman.
- 48:19Speaker 4: He had like a Buelman grill with the hot dogs,
- 48:21Speaker 4: and we had like Red Sox.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Opening played with fotball on the back.
- 48:25Speaker 5: It's like.
- 48:27Speaker 4: It was a simpler time. Yeah, we weren't worried about
- 48:30Speaker 4: like tenth Pole events in the off season to carry
- 48:33Speaker 4: the social media.
- 48:34Speaker 2: All right, calls coming in eight five five, pass five hundred, Sean,
- 48:39Speaker 2: and Vancouver is back. What's up, Sean?
- 48:43Speaker 9: Yeah, No, I couldn't hear anything for a while. Actually,
- 48:46Speaker 9: the main reason I called is so I can hear
- 48:47Speaker 9: the show.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Someone else is doing that now too.
- 48:52Speaker 9: Yeah. But I want to talk a little bit about
- 48:54Speaker 9: the Eagles opener because I'm kind of happy in a
- 48:58Speaker 9: way that it's coming right away, because it's it's the
- 49:00Speaker 9: biggest challenge is that team is stacked like they they
- 49:04Speaker 9: are great everywhere and we're going to see right away,
- 49:08Speaker 9: especially in the areas where the Patriots struggled last year,
- 49:11Speaker 9: if they've improved enough, you know, or at all. I
- 49:15Speaker 9: think in the secondary they have, I'm pretty sure. But
- 49:18Speaker 9: I want to see how that's that challenge comes through.
- 49:20Speaker 9: And I'm wondering if Jonathan Jones is going to be
- 49:24Speaker 9: playing more safety than than not. I'm not sure if
- 49:28Speaker 9: he's going to be in the slaughter or to have
- 49:31Speaker 9: Marcus Jones. And we'll see what we see how that
- 49:33Speaker 9: shapes shapes up.
- 49:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the secondary personnel is one of the
- 49:38Speaker 4: things that we'll probably be looking at a little bit
- 49:41Speaker 4: in the next few weeks in these these camps because
- 49:44Speaker 4: I think you could go with Jalen Mills back there too.
- 49:47Speaker 4: And as Sean said, have Jonathan Jones in the slot.
- 49:50Speaker 4: I don't love the idea. I love, love, love Marcus Jones.
- 49:54Speaker 4: I don't think I love the idea of him being
- 49:55Speaker 4: a full time corner, Like.
- 49:58Speaker 2: I just think he's well a slot corner.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't love that idea. No, No, I now
- 50:03Speaker 4: maybe he's better than I then I remember, but I
- 50:07Speaker 4: think I just saw him chasing a lot.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Yeah in certain games though, Like I want him running
- 50:13Speaker 2: with Tyreek Hill when we play the Dolphins. Now he
- 50:16Speaker 2: should I'll take Jonathan Jones should have help, but I
- 50:19Speaker 2: want him, you know, stride for stride with him at
- 50:22Speaker 2: least being there so minimize the yards after catch.
- 50:26Speaker 3: I think they got a lot of matchup pieces.
- 50:27Speaker 10: You know.
- 50:27Speaker 3: How is it depending on week to week how it goes,
- 50:30Speaker 3: you know, maybe there are certain matchups that make more
- 50:31Speaker 3: sense than me. I just like to see more of him.
- 50:33Speaker 3: I think he got last year kind of thrust in
- 50:35Speaker 3: the fire plane outside at the end of the year
- 50:37Speaker 3: and not really his ideal spot. But I also am
- 50:40Speaker 3: not as high on playing him full time on offense
- 50:42Speaker 3: as I know a lot of people out there are
- 50:44Speaker 3: that are banging that drum that he should, you know,
- 50:46Speaker 3: have nearly a full time role on offense. I don't know.
- 50:49Speaker 3: I don't know about that one.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Uh, Sean, you want me to put you on hold? Yeah, okay,
- 50:54Speaker 2: down the line.
- 50:56Speaker 5: I'm also I'm weary of Jonathan Jones playing a ton
- 51:01Speaker 5: of safety because I'm as high on Christian Gonzalez as anybody.
- 51:07Speaker 5: But until Christian Gonzalez gets his feet wet a little
- 51:10Speaker 5: bit in the NFL, Jonathan Jones is still your best corner.
- 51:13Speaker 5: So you're moving your best corner back. I just I
- 51:17Speaker 5: would much rather see him stick at corner where he belongs,
- 51:21Speaker 5: I think. And Jack Jones, I think is the big
- 51:23Speaker 5: wildcard out of all this is Frankly, can you get
- 51:27Speaker 5: himself out of the doghouse to be a contributor, because
- 51:30Speaker 5: I've seen so many guys, and we've all seen so
- 51:33Speaker 5: many guys that once you cross Belichick like you usually
- 51:37Speaker 5: don't play like right, once you're outside the circle of trust,
- 51:40Speaker 5: you're kind.
- 51:40Speaker 4: Of the season with With Jonathan Jones.
- 51:44Speaker 5: Marcus Jones, and Miles Bryant.
- 51:47Speaker 4: It was Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones. Yeah, so yeah, I
- 51:52Speaker 4: mean Jack Jones is the wildcard. You guys are right,
- 51:58Speaker 4: because if he has a role and it's Jonathan Jones
- 52:02Speaker 4: and Jack Jones while you're waiting for Gonzales. You know,
- 52:05Speaker 4: I think Gonzales eventually will be that guy probably weak one, probably, Yeah.
- 52:08Speaker 2: But.
- 52:10Speaker 4: That to me makes more sense, And that's why I
- 52:13Speaker 4: would identify Mills for a lot of reasons, not the
- 52:16Speaker 4: least of which was him sort of hinting at it.
- 52:18Speaker 4: He's on Twitter, you know, I think Mills is the
- 52:21Speaker 4: guy that will be back there. But I also hesitate
- 52:23Speaker 4: to just say because they drafted Christian Gonzalez in the
- 52:26Speaker 4: first run, your secondary is going to be better than
- 52:27Speaker 4: it was last year. You also lost a very important
- 52:30Speaker 4: piece of that secondary last year. So I think it
- 52:34Speaker 4: has the potential to be better because I think Gonzales is,
- 52:38Speaker 4: you know, potentially better than any corner you have. But
- 52:41Speaker 4: like Evin said, you have to see that before you
- 52:43Speaker 4: just automatically assume it.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Only Cunning.
- 52:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I think with Jack a little better than Anie
- 52:47Speaker 4: Cunning him.
- 52:48Speaker 5: I think with Jack Jones because with Jack Jones in
- 52:51Speaker 5: the fold, and you have Jack Jones playing outside even
- 52:54Speaker 5: with Christian Gonzalez, and then you know they're gonna play
- 52:56Speaker 5: three corners the majority of the time. So then Marcus Jones,
- 52:59Speaker 5: you think, is in the slot, and that would allow
- 53:02Speaker 5: John Jones in this scenario to be more flexible and
- 53:05Speaker 5: play a little bit.
- 53:06Speaker 4: I like the idea of Gonzales and Jack Jones with
- 53:08Speaker 4: Jonathan Jones in the slot. That to me would be
- 53:12Speaker 4: ideal if it worked out that way. But I agree
- 53:14Speaker 4: with the way you guys talked about Jack Jones, both
- 53:16Speaker 4: of you. We've seen this before with Bill. It takes
- 53:19Speaker 4: a lot to sort of change that.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Man.
- 53:21Speaker 5: I just hear a lot of fans, uh, you know
- 53:25Speaker 5: what about Jack Jones, like, don't forget about Jack Jones
- 53:27Speaker 5: going to be the guy. And I'm like, I'll believe
- 53:29Speaker 5: it when I see it.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Maybe he could be.
- 53:30Speaker 5: I believe that they were going to play him when
- 53:32Speaker 5: I see it.
- 53:32Speaker 3: But you knew that he had off the field issues
- 53:34Speaker 3: coming in. He almost felt like a chance coming in,
- 53:36Speaker 3: and then those popped up during his rookie season in
- 53:39Speaker 3: a way that I mean, what was it that he.
- 53:41Speaker 4: Talked back or something like he wasn't showing up to
- 53:44Speaker 4: I mean, this is reportedly, we don't know the actual facts,
- 53:48Speaker 4: but this is what was written at the time, was
- 53:50Speaker 4: that he was missing some of his rehab assignments and
- 53:53Speaker 4: sort of arguing with the coaching staff and the training
- 53:55Speaker 4: staff as to what his best course of action was
- 53:57Speaker 4: in rehab.
- 53:58Speaker 5: Frankly, I'm surprised he's still on the team.
- 54:02Speaker 4: It might speak, might speak how good they think, the
- 54:05Speaker 4: hope that they have for him being able to turn
- 54:07Speaker 4: it around.
- 54:07Speaker 5: But just the way that when you cross that line,
- 54:10Speaker 5: I know with this team, it's forget about it.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Matt and Raleigh, North Carolina, but originally from Vermont. I
- 54:16Speaker 2: recently watched Man in the arena. And since I've only
- 54:19Speaker 2: been a Patriots fan since the twenty ten season, a
- 54:21Speaker 2: lot of the storylines during two thousand and one were
- 54:24Speaker 2: new to me. It got me wondering if the Patriots
- 54:27Speaker 2: might have still won the Super Bowl thirty six if
- 54:29Speaker 2: Drew Bledsoe was the starting quarterback just for that game.
- 54:32Speaker 2: What do you think? What was the media's take on
- 54:35Speaker 2: it at that time?
- 54:37Speaker 4: It was Brady all the way in the media, and
- 54:40Speaker 4: that one game I think they could have won just
- 54:44Speaker 4: because of the way the game unfolded. But there's like,
- 54:47Speaker 4: and you will not find a bigger Drew Brett Bledsoe
- 54:50Speaker 4: supporter than me. They were not a Super Bowl team
- 54:52Speaker 4: with true Bledsoe that year. Yeah, now, that one game,
- 54:57Speaker 4: much like they won in Pittsburgh, Like was defense, it
- 55:00Speaker 4: was special teams, it was other factors.
- 55:01Speaker 3: Can he just orchestrate that last dry It's kind of
- 55:03Speaker 3: the only question.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Well, but but it wouldn't have cut down to field, Yes, yeah,
- 55:07Speaker 2: you know it probably the game would have looked.
- 55:10Speaker 5: Completely given John Madden chills going down the field, and.
- 55:14Speaker 4: You know, and like I'll say it, frankly, would Drew
- 55:18Speaker 4: have made mistakes during the game before that right that
- 55:21Speaker 4: that Tom didn't because that was the difference, or would
- 55:23Speaker 4: have scored more point less mistake prom or he you
- 55:26Speaker 4: know the other possibilities he could have scored more. I
- 55:28Speaker 4: like to go that way. They would have won the
- 55:30Speaker 4: game going away, Fred, I'm with you see thirty eight
- 55:33Speaker 4: fourteen final.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Because nothing well you know, nothing would have changed for
- 55:37Speaker 2: the Patriots and defense. They would still would have had
- 55:39Speaker 2: the same game plan going in to basically hold Marshall
- 55:43Speaker 2: falk All game right.
- 55:44Speaker 4: Everything they did.
- 55:45Speaker 5: Fact probably would like to say that they beat him up.
- 55:49Speaker 5: I don't like Yeah, I know, I don't like hold
- 55:50Speaker 5: because Mary Marshall likes to claim that they that's what
- 55:53Speaker 5: the game plan.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Sure, there was a little bit of that. Marie and
- 55:58Speaker 2: Durham North, New Hampshire. I'm guessing I fall into a
- 56:01Speaker 2: rare Nietzsch category of your listeners mid twenties women who
- 56:05Speaker 2: are both lifelong listeners to the show and lifelong Taylor
- 56:08Speaker 2: Swift fans. Nice and also U Mass alumni. Shout out
- 56:10Speaker 2: to Alex. I was lucky enough to be at the
- 56:12Speaker 2: Friday concert. My friend's cousin actually met Mack and Sophie
- 56:16Speaker 2: on the floor that night. Got a picture with them
- 56:18Speaker 2: and said they were both the nicest people. Mack was
- 56:21Speaker 2: dressed up to match Taylor's Reputation album, and in one
- 56:25Speaker 2: of the team's social media videos, he stated that Reputation
- 56:28Speaker 2: is his favorite Taylor Swift album because of what it
- 56:31Speaker 2: stands for. I, for one, love that Mac is in
- 56:35Speaker 2: his reputation era. That album is all about ignoring the
- 56:39Speaker 2: haters in the media, putting in the work, and owning
- 56:42Speaker 2: who you are in your success. On the other end,
- 56:45Speaker 2: I think that is exactly what we're gonna see this season,
- 56:48Speaker 2: a solid comeback after a rough year and real f
- 56:52Speaker 2: you to anyone who thinks he isn't good enough. Also,
- 56:55Speaker 2: gotta love him showing up the Sunday Show with Mike
- 56:57Speaker 2: Asicki and Hunter Henry to the Sunday Show. You can
- 57:00Speaker 2: already see the chemistry there. Let's hope it shows up
- 57:03Speaker 2: just as well on the field. Wow, what did you shows?
- 57:05Speaker 5: Great email? I agree one hundred percent. I picked up
- 57:08Speaker 5: on that when we put out the the video him
- 57:12Speaker 5: saying that he's on his reputation era. Love it, love
- 57:15Speaker 5: it the F you tour.
- 57:16Speaker 4: I'm on it if that's what it ends up being,
- 57:20Speaker 4: and then I love it too.
- 57:21Speaker 3: I could have done without doing there.
- 57:24Speaker 5: Listen, he was into it. He did, he did it
- 57:26Speaker 5: for right.
- 57:28Speaker 3: We've all done things, Paul.
- 57:30Speaker 4: Come on, I've never I've never dressed up, not even
- 57:34Speaker 4: for the Dave Matthew Show. I got the tickets, that
- 57:36Speaker 4: was what I did.
- 57:38Speaker 5: This is another thing that Bart and I always argue about, like,
- 57:40Speaker 5: just wait till you get a girl, Alex, all right,
- 57:43Speaker 5: like you'll you'll be dressing up when she says to
- 57:46Speaker 5: dress up, You dress up, dude. All right. That's just
- 57:48Speaker 5: how we were.
- 57:49Speaker 3: The first person he calls, you know, I tried from coach.
- 57:55Speaker 5: It doesn't work.
- 57:56Speaker 2: All that needling U branded. And I saw James White
- 58:02Speaker 2: at my work yesterday. He seems like a really nice person,
- 58:05Speaker 2: and I can see why he's one of Paul's favorite.
- 58:07Speaker 2: I told him that his part in the schedule release
- 58:10Speaker 2: video was the best part, and he said that he
- 58:12Speaker 2: had a lot of fun shooting it and that the
- 58:14Speaker 2: final project came out great. So nice job to all.
- 58:17Speaker 2: It seems like everyone involved had a great time. It's
- 58:20Speaker 2: true that.
- 58:21Speaker 3: Was fun watching him, Jimmy White run around for Ivan
- 58:24Speaker 3: and at some of the shots they just got were
- 58:26Speaker 3: so good of him. Just sweating, and I mean, I
- 58:28Speaker 3: just thought Chris and Tony did a great job with that.
- 58:31Speaker 3: Those scenes, just James's frustration doing stuff was fun.
- 58:35Speaker 2: Yep, Bob and Wilmington, North Carolina. Please let me know
- 58:39Speaker 2: when you find a few players on this year's team
- 58:41Speaker 2: that are starved for a championship. I'm not talking about
- 58:45Speaker 2: mad dog crazy, starve like Brady was every single day.
- 58:48Speaker 2: Please just show me anyone on the team now that
- 58:51Speaker 2: is rabbit to win a championship. Who was the next
- 58:54Speaker 2: true leader of this team that will force the players
- 58:57Speaker 2: into another Super Bowl run. It's getting old watching us
- 59:00Speaker 2: play games with no hot I don't know, I don't
- 59:04Speaker 2: know if that's a fair criticism.
- 59:05Speaker 5: Are we talking about the Celtics? Are we talking about.
- 59:07Speaker 2: That's what I thought at first, you know, yeah.
- 59:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good question. That that good point.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Maybe they're talking about I don't think.
- 59:13Speaker 4: I don't think I have a heart problem speaking of
- 59:16Speaker 4: the Celtics problem.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Speaking of the Celtics. So I'm watching I mean, obviously
- 59:21Speaker 2: that that Game three was an embarrassment, but I'm watching
- 59:25Speaker 2: Joe Missoula, and all I could think of was Chuck Pegano,
- 59:28Speaker 2: Like the facial expressions looking around, knowing this is time
- 59:32Speaker 2: for me to do something, but I don't know what
- 59:33Speaker 2: I should be doing. You're just out of his depth,
- 59:36Speaker 2: just like Chuck Pegana was. It was just awful. And
- 59:40Speaker 2: then there's no way in the hell I'm paying Jalen
- 59:43Speaker 2: Brown that MAX contract. He's gone. I'll trade him. I
- 59:46Speaker 2: want to point guard. Get me somebode who can handle
- 59:48Speaker 2: the ball.
- 59:49Speaker 4: Please, Well, that's not Jalen Brown.
- 59:51Speaker 2: I know, but I'm gonna. I want to trade him winning. Yeah,
- 59:56Speaker 2: he's gone. We can't pay him that money. I'm sorry why,
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: because he's not worth it.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: He's regressed.
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: You have to pay him the money and regressed if
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: you had the.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Best year of his career, I don't care about points.
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: You have to pay. Well, he's All NBA second time.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: By the way, you want to.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: Get rid of Jalen Brown, It's fine, he didn't regress.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: The years.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: You get, you get named to the All NBA team,
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: and that makes you eligible for these Matt who selects
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: the All NBA? Right, Yeah, that's ridiculous. So the hands
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: of my future is in the hands of these rights.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: I'll make it.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: I'll make it more ridiculous. I'll make it more ridiculous.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: A stupider system in my life.
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: I'll make it even more ridiculous for you in a second.
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: But unfortunately, that's the way it's done in a lot
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: of sports. It's not directly tied to salary in the NFL,
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: but the writers pick the m v P and All
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: Pro teams, and there's incentives that are worth millions and
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: millions of dollars for that incentive is one same thing.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: But to have a max contract based on writers.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: Saying I agree, that's I agree, it's dumb. But what
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: I really think over the top is the way they
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: pick those teams. And Evan, you're being more of an
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: NBA guy than me. Correct me if I'm wrong. Yeah,
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: they picked teams like center, forward, forward, guard, guard, So
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: that's absurd.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: That's not how.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: I don't care if or not there should be the
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: five best players of the first team All NBA. Yeah,
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: I don't know the fact that Jokic is the second
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: team All NBA player and everybody and the brother thinks
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: he should have been the MVP.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Right now, you're.
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: Telling me, at best he's the sixth best player in
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: the league. Yeah, that's absurd.
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: There, so they're changing that. I think they're changing that too.
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: It's going to be essentially front court players and backcourt players.
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: So uh Embi and Jokic would be able to be
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: on the first team together. But it's it's with Jalen
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: not to go on a whole like NBA contracts rant,
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: but trading him on the last year of his current
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: contract is selling for fifty cents on the dollar. You
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: can't do it. So you have to give him the
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: Supermax and trade him on the super Max to the
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: next team because he has no value.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Whatever the agreement contract with the next team. Fine, but
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: I don't I don't want them that. I mean that
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: that's not at that price.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: I think that they're the problem with this.
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: Out on Jalen Brown, we were talking about.
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: The Celtics have two stars that are both to beta.
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: To be the guy that in that that league specifically,
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: you have to have a champion amongst the group. Yeah,
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: and those those two guys I think might be a
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: little bit too to lase to beta and I don't
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: know if they're ever gonna win together. It's a bummer
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: because as as a diehard Celtics fan watching, there's nothing
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: better besides winning obviously, then watching your team draft two
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: guys and then watching them blossom into superstars together like
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: the Jays have. But I don't know if either one
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: of them has that that killer I at the Tiger
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: and is like gonna walk into the room and be
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: like no, like this is what we're we're we're not
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: messing around, Like this is what we're doing. I don't
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: know if either one of those guys has that that
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: type of attitude.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: I mean, Jalen Brown might have the attitude, but he
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: doesn't have the ability.
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: Like, I think you're selling him short. I think you're
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: you're judging up small the biggest. I think you're judging
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: him on the last Tatum scored the I see in.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: The playoffs, just the losing the ball, the wild drives,
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: you know, into traffic. It's just like again, the other guys.
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: Are the final series, and I don't know, You're not
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: the only one that feels this way.
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: Jalen's handles are not No, that's not that's not a
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: strength strength game.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: All Right, we're gonna take a break. We gotta go,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Paul's gotta go. Uh But Deuce, Evan and myself would
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: back right after this.
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: I think she said, how are we doing it?

- 1:14:05Speaker 2: That's another great moment from all right back here on
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: Patriots on filtered eight five five PATS five hundred is
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: the a sticking utline web radio at patriots dot com
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: is the email address. It's dou seven, myself, Matt and
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: the booth. We're back on the air. I think most
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: of you will be listening to this on demand. But
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: for those of you who are waiting, Uh, they fixed
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: whatever it was, the d n S and the r
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: P t T and the h T t p s
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: slash dot dot and uh they got it fixed.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: Right, So Taylor Swift, thanks for nothing. Yeah, broke our internet.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: It could be a lot of stress on the network
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: over the weekend. I bet you know a lot of
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: a lot of uploading tiktotos, tiktoks.
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Well, yeah, that's what when I woke up every morning,
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: you know, you sit down and watch them TikTok That's
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: all it was. There's just people out at this concert
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: going crazy.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: In the rain. Yeah all right, let's see what do
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: we got Ramon has a simple question. He says, why
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: are they not restocking the Julian Edelman jerseys in the
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: Pro Shop. I've been trying to purchase one for two
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: years now. Only jerseys I've ever wanted was his in Rondo,
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: and now I can't get either. Guess I'll get Jalen
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: Brown's if he were signed that. I thought, you know,
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: it's funny because I was in the Pro Shop maybe
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: a couple of weeks ago because one of our people
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: left for another job, and I got him a, you know,
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: a customized jersey, and I remember seeing Edelman jerseys that day.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: It was like two weeks ago. It was the red
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: throwback jersey.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Which one's he looking for?
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: I have a a white Edelman stitched in like authentic jersey.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: That from your fan days.
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: Yeah, my sister got it from me for my birthday
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: from my fan days, so you frame it. It's in
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: my closet.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: Now, if you were to get a jersey, would you
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: want it with your name, a player name or blind?
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Oh no, I just go with a player name. I'm
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: with Meghan here, like I'm past that. I'm sixty two
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: year old, man. I don't want to be wearing the
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: name of another man on my bad.
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: Well, I think it's supportive player. I would. I'm with
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: Meghan largely like I don't think I would wear jerseys,
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: and I never really wore jerseys in public. But I
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: think you want to wear a jersey to a game,
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: that's that's great. You want to come to practice wear
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: a jersey, I'm going to care. You want to throw
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: a tong. I just I would just say, if you're
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: gonna buy a jersey, buy one that you know is
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: gonna last. So An Edelman, a Brady at Gronk. You
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: know though, I'd always try to buy players that I know.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: Look even when no matter when this guy leaves the team,
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: I'm always gonna be able to wear it to a
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: Patriots thing.
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: So yeah, I have three jerseys Patriots jerseys still Welker, Edelman, Brady,
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: and I feel like with Welker that one went in
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: the back of the closet for a while after he left,
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: But now I feel like I would. I wouldn't wear
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: it because I know I have covered the team, but
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: like if I if I were to wear a jersey,
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear Welker anymore.
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: Why would you be embarrassed. Yeah, it's awesome.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: If you had a like I would wear a Hannah jersey.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's good, right, I mean I didn't.
- 1:17:05Speaker 5: I only wear like. I feel weird wearing like, you know,
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: like a Larry Bird jersey to himself. I never saw
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: Larry Bird play, so I you know, I feel weird
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: about that. But I usually I usually wear a Tatum
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: jersey the Celtics game. Sometimes I'll wear the Pierce one,
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: but yeah, usually Tatum the Truth. Yeah, Bruins Macavoy.
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: I still have to bring. I have a good from
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: when my dad was a rebock in the nineties, a
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: Bledsoe reversible jersey. So it's got the white one on
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: one side and the blue one on the other of
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: the old elves. That's a good one. And my uncle
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: also found a Curtis Martin one of those old ones,
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: but it's way too small for me to wear and
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: no one wants to see that.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Okay, nice. Let's go to Todd, North Carolina on the
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: East ticket hut line. What's up, Todd?
- 1:17:45Speaker 7: Well, I gotta thank Evan for another good thing. I
- 1:17:48Speaker 7: liked his idea of picking a position you'd like to
- 1:17:52Speaker 7: see in the off season and somebody I think wrote
- 1:17:54Speaker 7: the mail bag and he said, yeah, he was interested
- 1:17:56Speaker 7: in running back, and I was like, what would I
- 1:17:59Speaker 7: be interested in? And I figured that my from my
- 1:18:03Speaker 7: point of view, I really want to see what the
- 1:18:05Speaker 7: D line can do. And I know we won't see
- 1:18:07Speaker 7: much right away, but I'm hoping that the D line,
- 1:18:09Speaker 7: especially in the when we get to work the preseason games,
- 1:18:14Speaker 7: can show something some more speeds, some more activity. I
- 1:18:18Speaker 7: really want to see where they play. So what do
- 1:18:19Speaker 7: you guys, Well.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: I was going to just ask you, like I mean,
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: because you've got a lot of veterans on the defensive line,
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: So I mean, it's are you looking at like bar
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: More and Keyon White, because I mean it's it's probably
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: going to be a lot of Guy Gotschaw and Wise.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: I don't even know how much they're going to play
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: in the preseason.
- 1:18:35Speaker 7: I'm hoping that they keep Guy Godshaw and Wise out.
- 1:18:38Speaker 7: I don't want to see them in the preseason because
- 1:18:40Speaker 7: well they're veterans and why wear them out. And I'm
- 1:18:42Speaker 7: hoping we don't see a lot of them like I expect,
- 1:18:45Speaker 7: just in rotation. I don't want to see like guy
- 1:18:47Speaker 7: on the field for the whole game or anything weird
- 1:18:49Speaker 7: like that. But I want to see some of the
- 1:18:51Speaker 7: young guys and I want to they do. I think
- 1:18:52Speaker 7: I'm also including the linebackers in this too, because I
- 1:18:54Speaker 7: want to see, you know, how the line and the
- 1:18:56Speaker 7: linebackers interact, and what kind of play calling they're doing,
- 1:18:59Speaker 7: and what they're a kind of set up on their
- 1:19:01Speaker 7: defense to maybe pressure the QB and you know, keep
- 1:19:04Speaker 7: those stats at atle Brinty guys in check.
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good one. I I mean, I'm definitely
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: interested in how they kind of break things up with
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: the safety and linebacker group this year. You know, how
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: does mccordy's absence factor and but I'm going to say
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: the tight end group. I want to see what Kasiki
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: is and can Kasiki bring something different than Johnny I
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: I think you said before Juju. I am excited to
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: see him and to see some of the you know,
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: maybe he raises the level of play over over what
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: Jacobe had. But I think Kasiki is a real wild
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: card for this offense. And how do they use him.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: I mean they Bill O'Brien obviously has a history with
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: him down year. Last year was kind of you know
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: not phased out, but was just not as big a
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: part of Mike McDaniel's offense as he was previously. So
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: he's got some athleticism. And I mean somebody brought up
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: him and Hunter Henry and Mac were at Taylor Swift days.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: I like that, and I want to see how does
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: that trio, especially in the red zone. They were so
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: bad in the red zone last year, worst team in
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: the league. So I think kasiki for me, and you know,
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: how how does that all come together with the tight ends?
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I wrote a you know, wide receivers, I think
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: is obvious. Everybody loves watching the wide receivers, especially this
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: time of year before we get the pads on. But
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: I said running back because I really want to see
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: Pierre Strong involved, Like I want to see them get
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: a guy that has some real game breaking speed, some touches.
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: They don't have enough of those guys, it feels like
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: over the last couple of years. And they have two
- 1:20:23Speaker 5: now with Taekwon and Pierre Strong, and that's why they
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: drafted those guys in that class. And let's see what
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: those guys can do in the open field. Let's get
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: them into some space, Let's get them in some advantageous
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: matchups or situations where they can use that speed and
- 1:20:36Speaker 5: see if they can make some plays.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: See, and that's a guy too, like Pierre Strong. He
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: should get plenty of action in the pre preseason, the summer,
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: you know, right, So it's totally interesting.
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: I just don't want, you know, I think this team
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: sometimes they fall into those traps of going with the
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: veteran guy, and like, I don't want to see James
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: Robinson more involved than Pierre Strong. And it's no offense
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: to James Robinson. I just think that Pierre Strong, you
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: got to give him a shot. You got to. You
- 1:21:02Speaker 5: don't know what he is yet, right, because I mean
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: he was a fantastic player at San Diego State, and
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: you know, you really are are South Dakota State, I say,
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: you know, close close, and uh, you know, he's a
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: fantastic player there and real, I mean he had something
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: crazy like double digit touchdowns over fifty yards or something
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: like that and his last year there. So let's see
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: what he's got.
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: Just watching NFL Network is showing a player's choice game.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: It's Jacoby Myers, and he chose a Monday Night Football
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: Patriots Jets game three years ago, yeah, and.
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: I think it's still his game high or career high
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: in receiving yards for a single game. So I think
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: that's why I picked this one.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: I figured he had a good game, Yeah, Ryan. His
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: favorite jersey is a light blue tie law from the nineties.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:21:52Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: And his offseason question is if every Brady led team
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: was to have a tournament, which which year would come
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: out on top? Uh?
- 1:22:00Speaker 14: Uh.
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: That's a good question. I wish Paul was here to
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: chime in that one.
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: I mean, oh, seven comes to mind first.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: I mean, how do you I mean, even though they
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: didn't win it, I think I.
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: But that fourteen was also a really good team.
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: Not quite the offensive powerhouse, I felt like, but maybe
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: a little bit more on top of their game as
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: far as defensively, Like those guys were all still like
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: I think by the time you got to seven, guys
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: like Bruce Ki McGinnis, obviously Junior Seou came in, those
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: guys were kind of tapering off, I felt like, And
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: that was maybe a little bit of what the Bruins
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: were this year, like kind of the death rattle of
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: a really really good group of players that you know,
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: just to play out of their minds. And you know,
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: just didn't have quite enough gas at the end to
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: punch it through. But oh, seven or four, I think
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: maybe fourteen lurking in there, So I.
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: Would say fourteen it would be up there for me.
- 1:22:45Speaker 5: I think just when you look at that roster, there
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: are guys at the back end of that roster that
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: couldn't even get on the field that were big time
- 1:22:53Speaker 5: NFL players because of how deep they were, especially on defense.
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: You know, Malcolm Butler was an afterthought on that fourteen
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: team for a lot out of the season and then
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: he ends up making the biggest player of the year.
- 1:23:02Speaker 5: So I think that they're that team you still had.
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: You know, on offense, it's Kroc, it's Edelman. You know,
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: they were stacked. They were stacked team in fourteen.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: Let's see. Trent writes in from Sylvan Lake, just wanted
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: to get it pat in the back to Paul for
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: his great work on the Pats from the Past podcast.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: The latest episode with Scott Pioli might be the best
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: one yet. It was full of awesome insight into team
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: building and specifically how Bill built the team. It was
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: also great at showing Pioli as a person, made him
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: so much more likable. He came across as genuinely good guy.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: My opinion of him did a complete one eighty after
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: listening keep up the good work, long ball, Paul.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: I got to listen to that one. I still haven't
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: gotten to it, but it's two part. I got to
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: throw it in today. I'm excited to hear it. Paul said.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: They you know, they got a lot of good stuff
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: out of PILLI and just Paul knows Peoli a little bit,
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: so I think that always helps it. Mankins, he knows
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: Mankins a little bit. When they have that relationship, it
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: always seems like they get good, good stuff out of
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: the guys.
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: Yeah, they feel more comfortable, they open up a little bit.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good format. They've done it over forty
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: now and keep doing them.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: Yeah, keep pumping them out.
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: Floyd and Redford Michigan Evan, thank you for talking about
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: the possibility. However, remote of Malik Cunningham as a quarterback question,
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: Why is it so important to see Mac Jones defeat
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: Kenny Pickett? Why couldn't you take the discourse around the
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: team if Kenny outduels Mac?
- 1:24:31Speaker 7: What?
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: I said that on catch twenty two?
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, what was that about.
- 1:24:35Speaker 5: I just need to see Mac beat Kenny Pickett in
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: that Steelers Patriots game. We were talking about the schedule.
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: It's not like the I don't really it's not like
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: I'm gonna break into tiers if he doesn't. But I
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: just those are the types of quarterbacks now, Kenny Pickets
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: of the world that Mac Jones should be beating. Like
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: if he's going to be your guy, then he's got
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: to be able to beat those types of cubes.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: What did you think of Picket last year? I mean,
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: like compared it compared to Mac Max two years.
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: I thought, is like his last month of the season
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: with his rookie Max rookie year. I just Pickett and
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: Mac are similar, like I think that they're similar skill sets,
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: similar certainly in body type as well. So I just
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: I don't know, I got to see him out duel
- 1:25:19Speaker 5: some of these quarterbacks and Kenny Pickett, we're not really
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: asking him to out duel Patrick mahomes by saying that
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: I want a baby Kenny Pickett babe like in some babysack.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: But you got to figure out where Mac is, you know.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: I think that's all just part of the pecking order
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: and I mean, we know a lot of the matchups
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: that he's going to be going against a team with
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: a quarterback who's better than him, and we know what
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: that entails. But those games, I hear what you're saying.
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: Like Sam Howell, Kenny Pickett, even Derek Carr, like I'd
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: like to see if.
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: Matt scores thirty four points and you lose, is that
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: match fault depends?
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: And it depends does he have a chance to win
- 1:25:51Speaker 5: the game?
- 1:25:51Speaker 7: Late?
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: Do you know you got to win some of these
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: games that are not twenty to seventeen, like you got
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: to be able to win ps.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: Kenny Pickett's game winning throw on the road against the
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: Ravens was Mahomes esque. Teflon Mack couldn't make that play.
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: Oh gosh, Josh and Dallas. I'm sure you guys have
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: seen by now j C. Jackson calling the Patriots match
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: up a revenge game. To be honest, I'm not sure
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: he was a big enough player for the Patriots to
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: be saying something like that, and he kind of chose
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: to leave as opposed to being traded. I recently went
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: back and watched the KCAFC Championship game, and late in
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: the game. He almost cost them a few times with
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: penalties in getting burned and third down. This is my question.
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: Do you think some of the former New England corners
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: have had success because of scheme or are they just
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: good at identifying talent? Looking forward to seeing what Gonzales
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: looks like this year, I think both.
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: I think they I think they got an eye for guys,
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: and I think that they're able to develop them. I mean,
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: don't I think that they get a little bit. I mean,
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: I don't mean this as a negative, but I just
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: think people generally say, like, well, they just developed number
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: one corners all the time. I don't think that that's true.
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: I think that they can develop solid cornerbacks all the time,
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: especially in the slot where they seemingly have an unending
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: supply of guys coming through. But I think Christian Gonzalez
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: is gonna I'm optimistic that Christian Gonzalez is gonna kind
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: of change the formula a little bit and say, all right, yeah,
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: they can take an undrafted guy like Malcolm Butler and
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: turn him into you know, first a super Bowl hero
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: and then a starting corner for a couple of years.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: So cash is in but.
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: Zales Okay, so what are whether the number one corners
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: that they developed, like truly number.
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: One corner I mean Butler, I mean a number.
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: One corner And we're not talking if not counting Butler
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: and j C. Jackson then really not none none.
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: So like it's kind of they take guys who were
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: low drafted or not drafted and they make them players
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: in the NFL. I mean, I'll give him that JA C.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: Jackson is making them number one corners.
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: I mean, I think j. C. Jackson is probably better
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: than than Malcolm Butler was, but you know that.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: Jackos prove himself as a number one course as close
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: as you got in jury's out, he's not.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: No. I did see those comments. I'd also just like
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: the highlight. I liked what Isaiah Winn had to say
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: he got asked. He was totally classy about you know, hey,
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to playing against those guys, but they
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: gave me my start. Like you know, I don't know
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: what I was expecting out of him. He didn't really
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: always seem to me like he wanted to be here,
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: but you know, he just took the high road. And
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: I generally like that. Nothing against j C. It is
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: what it is. I know that's how he is. That's
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: just the guy that he is. He wants to compete
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: and you know, take things personally like that.
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: To care less about what jac had to say, to
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: be honest with you. And I think that j C
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: is a classic case of when he gets cut by
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: the Chargers in a year, it's probably going to be
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: back here. And so you know, which is trying with me?
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: Like I think jay C. Jackson was a good a
- 1:28:41Speaker 5: good patriot. Was he a number one? Like put him
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: on Stefan Diggs. I think we learned No, he was.
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: He wasn't good.
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: But playsides corner, yeah, and he is.
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: He is a good playmaker at that position though, And
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: if you have so, I will.
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: Say so, you know, to answer the question, I do
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: think that, you know, the game planning and the scheming
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: is a big part of these players' success, keeping them
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: out of trouble, knowing their job, putting them in positions
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: to succeed, rather than you know, have them all over
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: the field. You know, I like last year is an exception.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: You guys get hurt and some guys had to play
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: out of position. But for the most part, scheme is
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: a big part of keeping these guys safe.
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: Yeah. I would also say game plan yeah, because they
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: Jalen Mills talked about this a lot, and a bunch
- 1:29:28Speaker 5: of them have over the years that like the Patriots,
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: they're deep dives into these opponents when it's like third
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: and three. The Patriots know of the play because they've
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: studied them so well, they know what their tendencies are,
- 1:29:41Speaker 5: they know the couple of plays they probably choose from
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: in this down and distance or this situation. And he
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: said that it's really Bill Will. Bill will come into
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: the room and be like, look, you know here a
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: third and six, like if they're in this formation, like
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: they're running this play like this is their bread and butter.
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: These are their five go to plays and third down
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: and those that goes a long long way of allowing
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: these guys, by process of elimination, to have a nice
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: anticipatory step.
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: And then translate that right to plays on the ball.
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: With jac Jackson, I mean, how many you know interceptions,
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: We talked about it all the time with him that
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: he just was usually in the right place. It wasn't
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: that you know, it was some crazy athletic jump through,
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: you know, grab the ball. It was he's right with
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: his guy, he's right where he needs to be in
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: the ball gets thrown right to him. I think, I mean,
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: I just think it all kind of connects together. And
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: that's again just the tie it up. Is why I'm
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: so excited about Gonzales because I feel like, you know,
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: it doesn't have a ton of ball, you know, production
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: on the ball, that kind of thing. But I just
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: think he's a like we call it a raw lump
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: of clay right now, with all the things you want,
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: He's definitely got the you know, if you can put
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: the mind, have to put the everything. Evan just tom system.
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: Is that brain into him, He's going to be awesome.
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: A lot of their coverage system is actually pretty simple.
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: Like when you talk to like high school and college coaches,
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: they'll tell you that it's it's really not like reinventing
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: the wheel or anything like that. But they they do
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: a great, great job of allowing their corner is to
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: play to their help, especially in the middle of the field,
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: and you know, playing off that leverage and that that's
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: a big, big part of what they do. Is all right,
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: you have you know, post safety help and then you
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: have maybe a robber or rat the sticks and that's
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: your help defender. Maybe a linebacker is like kind of
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: a low hole player, and you're able to really just
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: bailed your entire technique off of the fact that you
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: have this support in the middle of the field, and
- 1:31:24Speaker 5: it goes a long way.
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: I haven't heard that too, guys saying so many times,
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: or just I knew where my help was and it
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: allowed me to take a chance or to jump something
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: because they knew I had help over the top or
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: whatever it might be.
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: You know. And getting back to what everyone was talking about,
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: the game planning and the deep dive that the Patriots
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: do on their opponent. It even like it gets down
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: to like Bill standing up in front of the room
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: and saying, Okay, so and so's offensive coordinates. This guy
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: he started at this college, they ran this they you know,
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: he learned under this guy. These are the tendencies these
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: are you know, like he'll do that, he'll do deep
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: dives on their coaches. Yeah, so, like you get an
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: idea of like who you're going up against as a coach. Uh,
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: and you know, and then you know, I've heard it
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: from so many players. How Bill just makes it easy
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: to understand. You know, he's just he's a great teacher.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: He's able to just get it down to this is
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: what you need to know, This is all you need
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: to know. You know, just do your job.
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: I saw Michael Lombardi, I think, wrote a thing today
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: with a little bit about Jim Brown and just talked
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: about when Bill got to Cleveland, the importance that the
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: history of Jim Brown and the franchise and everything, and
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: you know, using that, I know, when they played there
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: in Cleveland, what a couple of years ago that they
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: all stopped at the Jim Brown status.
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: Year last year they did it again.
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: They're all, they're all in it. But you know, I
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: think it's it's just it's not only like the schematic
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: parts of it, you know, like all right, this is
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: the offensive, but just the appreciation of the history of
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: the game, and you know, the trends that are that
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: are coming, and you know, I just I I hope
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: he can get a little bit ahead of the curve
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: this year. It feels like we've been a little behind it.
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: Yeah, let's say Sander says a longtime listener from Munich, Germany.
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: I'd like to hear your thoughts on Taekwon's roll next
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: season as a second round pick. I believe it's time
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: for him to step up. And also, will any of
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: you get the chance to travel to Germany with the
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: team this season? Yeah, I think we lost.
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: Two of us.
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: Yeah, coming, I hope. So I got to go. I'm
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: ready to go.
- 1:33:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: We should be there in Frankfurt, though not in Munich,
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: and we'll be doing the show live from a pub
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: of choice.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: Do we drink in that public choice?
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: Well, we'll see a little loose. Yeah, it'll be six
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: in the evening there, a little different, you know, beating dinner. Yeah,
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: so yeah, we we're looking forward to it.
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: As for Thornton, you know, just get him, get him
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: out on the field, let him you know, I just
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: want to see him out there consistently and you know,
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: he doesn't have to set anything on fire over the
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: next few weeks with OTAs or you know, if he
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: had a trainings and catch down the field, great, I'm
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: not going to be mad about it. But I just
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: want to see him out there and in the mix
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: and consistently working with the top offense. And if that's
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: the case for you know, pre training camp, I think
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: he'll be in a good spot. Maybe he looks a
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: little thicker. That'd be nice, that'd be nice.
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: I think from that one play it was home and
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: someone was trying to bring him down and he got hurt.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: After that, he was just not the same.
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: What was like he was like coming into like Wambocks somebody.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: It was like, what, Yeah, I'm really interested to see
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: how Bill O'Brien uses him, and I you know, we've
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: all kind of all this film. Junkie has gone back
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: a little bit and looked at like James and Williams
- 1:34:26Speaker 5: will Fuller even like with the Texans, and how he
- 1:34:29Speaker 5: uses that kind of speed and being able to scheme
- 1:34:32Speaker 5: him away from contact, whether it's bringing him in motion,
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: running him out of like a you know, a stack,
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: or a bunch of alignments where he's off the line
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: of scrimmage, playing him in the slot, like whatever you
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: can do to get him away from press coverage. You know,
- 1:34:47Speaker 5: his ceiling as a player is going to come down
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: to can he beat press coverage on the outside by himself.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: If he can do that, then he's going to be
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: a thousand yard receiver and a great great Patriot. If
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: he can only do the things that are schemed for,
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: then he might not be that good. But at least
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: he'll be somebody that they can play and rely on
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: as a deep threat, and that's worth it as well.
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: So that's what I think the baseline to me is
- 1:35:08Speaker 5: that if Bill O'Brien can figure out ways to just
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: basically create foot races for him, so it's not about, oh,
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: I had to take my one hundred and eighty pounds
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: soaking wet and run through this physical corner and maybe
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: it's something that gives him a little bit of a
- 1:35:22Speaker 5: head start.
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: How do you do that? How do you give Taekwon
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: space so that it is just a foot race and
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: then also make it so that Mac has the time
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: to get him. Yeah.
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: I mean there's a couple a bunch of different ways,
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: but I think that the two most common that you
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: see are either motion like Tyrak Hill, they use motion.
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: They just bring him across the formation and then he
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: comes out the other side running a route, so he's
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: not getting the ball on like a jet sweep, right,
- 1:35:46Speaker 5: he's running that motion, but then he's continuing up the
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: field on the route that that's like the Tyreek Hill. Uh,
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: Mike McDaniel, little thing that they do that that really
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: got hot all over the place.
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: Last year.
- 1:35:59Speaker 5: Once they started doing that in Miami, really in Week
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: one against the Patriots, it became contagious. The entire league
- 1:36:04Speaker 5: started putting that in. And then the other thing is
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: is with stacks and with bunches. So you put a guy,
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: you know, you put a point man in a stack,
- 1:36:12Speaker 5: it's a two man stack, and you put Devonte Parker
- 1:36:15Speaker 5: in front of him, and then you put Taekwon behind
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: Devontae Parker and it creates that natural rub that you
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: can't get hands on him right away because Devonte Parker
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: is standing.
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: In your way.
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: So I think that those are the ways that you
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: can go about doing it.
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:36:28Speaker 5: I'm sure there's a million other ways that they know
- 1:36:30Speaker 5: that I don't, but like, those are the simple ways
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: about doing it, and that's what you see a lot
- 1:36:35Speaker 5: with a lot of other just straight line, fast guys.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: You know, I think Hill's kind of his own thing,
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: but even somebody like at Jamison Williams at Alabama, they
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: could play him in the slot. They play them out.
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: Why they play them in motion, They play them in
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: bunch formations and stacks. So just moving them around, getting
- 1:36:52Speaker 5: them away from contact, I think it can help you
- 1:36:55Speaker 5: no matter what like even if he's just taking the
- 1:36:57Speaker 5: top off and it's drawing coverage down the field to
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: open up space for other people, maybe the stats won't
- 1:37:02Speaker 5: necessarily be there, but the impact, Like when you watch
- 1:37:05Speaker 5: the Old All twenty two and I pull that up
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: and I can see, Okay, you know, two guys have
- 1:37:10Speaker 5: to go with Taekwon because the safety over the top
- 1:37:13Speaker 5: has to run with him otherwise he's gonna be open.
- 1:37:16Speaker 5: Then you know, those are the types of things that
- 1:37:17Speaker 5: open it up.
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: Let's see Billy Wrights in that says is that his name?
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: I guess so he says he was original subscriber to
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: PFW back in nineteen ninety five. That's right, lived in
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: Jersey at the time. Also season ticket holder with a
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: couple of SOUTHI friends during the eighty seven to ninety
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: three years, a Badge of Honor years. Yeah, we're talking
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: about that. When I saw Rolling Stones in Van Halen,
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: Henry Paul, I guess was the band that opened. He
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: says they were the Leader of the Outlaw, So they
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: played a bunch of Outlaw songs. Saw them open for
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: Sticks in nineteen eighty at Rutgers Athletics Center. I thought
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: they were better than sticks not super optimistic on this season.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: Six and eleven is my prediction. My favorite of those
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: season tickets. Okay, then he goes back to the season tickets.
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: I thought he was going to talk about this year's team.
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: Six and eleven.
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but I guess he had a lot of good
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: times back then. According to this email, Moonshine clam.
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: Bakes for the for the Patriots.
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, back the back then.
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: You know, some of the tailgates are pretty crazy. Like
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: you walk through the parking lot on a game day
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: into the stadium and you're like, wow, you guys really
- 1:38:27Speaker 5: went you know, got smokers out there, like whatever I
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: tell you.
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: Like when I was, you know, in California and if
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: i'd fly back once a year for a game like beef,
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: but I had as much as much about the tailgate
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: and like the pre and you know, in the game,
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: it's like your tense and you know you don't really
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: enjoy it all that much until it's over. But I
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: don't know, it's just that that was what I think
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: I missed most about it all, is like we obviously
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: get our fat I still I.
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: Don't understand the people who just get so blackout drunk.
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: I don't you don't even remember the game. No, that's ridiculous.
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: That was me in twenty fourteen in San Diego and
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: there were two guys sitting next to me and I
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: where to god, it's fourth quarter, good game. I mean,
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: that was a great game for Patriots and they are
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: just still loading up. I mean I couldn't. I couldn't.
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: There's a game going on. You even't even known. I
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: don't know if they would have remembered it, but no,
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: I was always said, get after it to the tailgate
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: and then get into the stadium and let it ride
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: and you just watch the game, you know, like that's.
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: Thirteen against Denver, the comeback here. Yeah. It was my
- 1:39:21Speaker 5: twenty first birthday and my my uncle is the one
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: that always took me to Patriots games. His whole group
- 1:39:26Speaker 5: has season tickets and they have one friend and it's like,
- 1:39:29Speaker 5: you know, you don't go drink for drink with this
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: one friend because the guy's a tank, right And I here,
- 1:39:33Speaker 5: I was like coming back from college for Christmas break,
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: and I thought that I was, you know, tough. Too
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: many Irish car bombs.
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: And I don't I come back as far as you
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: know that I.
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: Remember like bits and pieces, But I think it's more
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: because I've seen the game like on you know, highlights
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: and stuff since, and it was me actually remembering that
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: in the moment, and that that was pretty much like
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: the last time I was a fan, Like that was
- 1:39:57Speaker 5: like one of the last times that I could you know,
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: I went right into reporting on football after that, so
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: it was one of the last times that I was
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: like a true fan.
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if I once I I'm done here,
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: if I'll go to football games. I'm not sure. Small Yeah,
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: I think it would.
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: It would be fun to go to a Patriots game
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: and and tailgate and like do the whole because I
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: grew up doing that, so it would that would be
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: fun to be able to do that.
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: You do not have to write something about the game.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know if I told you ever,
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: but I used to have season tickets at you know,
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: end of eighties, early nineties, and we had four tickets
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: for five of us yea, and the team got so
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: bad that we would argue each week whose turn it
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: was not to go. Oh no, no, I went last week.
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: Yeah I don't. I don't need to go.
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: You know, I was never a problem in mind.
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I was. You know, I was at that
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: preseason game where Tippet got hurt or the pet got hurt,
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: Garon Varis got hurt. They carried them all off the
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: field and I think they won one game that year.
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: It was just awful, those ones, you know.
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: As that video I did in high school though, which
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: was the ninety one Patriots. Then we shot a video
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: at the tailgate. But it's the same thing. There's there's bands,
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: there's just people having a great time. And this is
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: like a one or two win oh yeah season, it
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: didn't really matter. And now it's like you have expectations.
- 1:41:15Speaker 5: Yeah, back in the day too. You know, my uncle
- 1:41:18Speaker 5: is older now, so they don't quite do it as
- 1:41:20Speaker 5: as But one o'clock kickoff, we were there eight eight thirty,
- 1:41:24Speaker 5: like you know, and we'd have breakfast and lunch like
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: they would make like the breakfast sandwiches on the grill and.
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: Then we'd fire out.
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: Okay, now it's lunch.
- 1:41:32Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, I fire up the girl a couple hours later,
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: right before we went into the stadium and have burgers
- 1:41:37Speaker 5: and dogs.
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: I wonder how the Bill's new stadium will affect their tailgating,
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: you know, they're building it in the same property, as
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: you know. I wonder if, like you know, the prices
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: will go up and it'll refine it. I don't know.
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: Hopefully the love room for tables to light on fire,
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: hope jump through. Yeah, it's similar that I feel this
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: way about the old Draft too. Like the old Draft
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: I used to love of, like the weekend, Saturday, all day, Sunday,
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: all day, same thing, breakfast, lunch, dinner, sitting in front
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: of the TV, watching the draft all day. It's awesome.
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: It was.
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: It's all different now mixed.
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: I miss Reckedperhead. It's so funny when games are going on,
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: like during the show and you're like, oh my god, that.
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: Could be a little James Robins knee.
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: He just he always just ran like he was shot
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: out of a cannon, like he just it's just no fear,
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: like just boom.
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: Clay I writes in Hello everyone, Hello Marine, Hello class.
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: Hope all is good with you, guys. I was just
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: curious if you think that Johnny Lumpkin works out, there's
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: a good chance they released Scotty Washington. Do you believe
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: they made any tight ends?
- 1:42:40Speaker 10: Uh?
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: Have any tight ends? And during that player carousel that
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: they have a trainer.
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: Scotty deep dive Scotty Washington was was on the practice
- 1:42:48Speaker 5: squad last year, so he wasn't on the fifty three.
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: But Lumpkin's got his work.
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: I don't I don't mind. Lumpkin block guy, somebody that
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: can actually block. Is Is he the best locking tight
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: end on the roster?
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: Maybe?
- 1:43:02Speaker 5: Body type wise? Yeah, like I you know, we'll see
- 1:43:04Speaker 5: what his technique looks like. But two hundred and sixty
- 1:43:07Speaker 5: five pounds I've made the comparison to. Of course, now
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: I'm blaming on the name the guy from Alabama, Michael Williams.
- 1:43:16Speaker 5: You know he's he's built exactly like Michael Williams uh
- 1:43:20Speaker 5: sixty six sixty seven, two sixty five. Basically like a
- 1:43:23Speaker 5: slim down tackle. Hey, he can't catch the ball, well,
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: he can catch it, but he's not gonna be an
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: impact player in the passing game at all. But look,
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: when it's third and one and you need a yard
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: and you're gonna you want to try to to run
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: it down somebody's throat. Is is Mike Sicky gonna blow
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: somebody off the ball. Probably not, But Lumpkin is Johnny
- 1:43:42Speaker 5: lumpkin might there you go.
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: It can't be a real name.
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: I could see him making it.
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: I could, Hey, if you have a certain set of skills.
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: I think it's maybe more like a little Jordan situation
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: where he's on the practice squad and he's a game
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: day elevation in like certain packages, the.
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: Game planned packages back around.
- 1:44:00Speaker 5: But I think he's got a chance.
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: I do.
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: We'll see uh.
- 1:44:04Speaker 2: Brian in Rhode Island quick over under game for the
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: twenty twenty three season, Christian Gonzales interceptions two and A.
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: Hey, I'm gonna say over, But I don't think he's
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: a bit I don't know. I have to see it. Yeah,
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: I don't. I don't blame Evan for going under. I
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: think that's uh, you know, that's a lot to ask
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: of him, especially like who's he going to be going
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: up against? The people people have be thrown at him. Probably,
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: so maybe he'll have a chance.
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: But he could have a more than I anticipate, say
- 1:44:33Speaker 5: three or four, but.
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: I don't think. I don't think more than five. I
- 1:44:35Speaker 3: would be surprised.
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: He just strikes me. He's a shadow corner, like he's
- 1:44:39Speaker 5: a guy that's just gonna take his guy out like
- 1:44:41Speaker 5: you're not gonna throw.
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: That's that's the hope. Yeah, Matt Jones touchdowns twenty two
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: and a hey.
- 1:44:47Speaker 5: Better be over.
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: I hope the over Haven's got him a thirty I think.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: Yeah, But no PF thirty in today's game, that's not
- 1:44:56Speaker 2: like huge like I would. I hope he gets thirty.
- 1:45:00Speaker 3: I mean that's you know, I don't want to say that,
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: that's like the bar of where.
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: He don't know if he gets. If he gets thirty,
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: then we're talking about him getting forty in terms of
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: the contract like next year. Like you know, thirty is
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: a lot of touchdowns for a guy that went from
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: what was he in the teens, like twelve or something
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: like that last year. That's that's a big, big uptick.
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: Stevenson catches forty and a hay.
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: Undert I'm gonna go under with Evan on that one,
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: I think. I mean, I just I hope that they
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: break it up a little bit and take them off
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: his plate, don't don't. I mean, it's great he's a
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: threat to catch the ball, but I don't need him
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: to be Who was more of.
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: A chance of making an impact here this year, Montgomery
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: or Robinson.
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: I'll just say Montgomery because he was here.
- 1:45:43Speaker 5: Eavan Fears was really bullish on time Montgomery on the
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: Six Rings podcast. He said that that's the third down back,
- 1:45:50Speaker 5: like if he's healthy and he's and he's you know,
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: in good shape and everything, that he was the guy
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: last summer that they they had big plans I think
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: for him until he got her in the year. And
- 1:46:01Speaker 5: I would think that'd be great for Remandre. Like, I
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: think it really started to show in the last half
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: of the season how dependent the offense was on Remandre
- 1:46:11Speaker 5: making something happen. And I think that'd be huge yep
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: yep uh.
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: And finally Thornton catches fifty and a hey, fifty under under.
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: But I mean I think i'd be I'd be thrilled
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: if he got like forty.
- 1:46:25Speaker 5: I mean, if it gets like thirty five at like
- 1:46:27Speaker 5: eighteen yards per catch, then I think that that's that's
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: enough to say that he's a threat in that that
- 1:46:33Speaker 5: deep you don't do that with him.
- 1:46:34Speaker 3: And then Juju, I think Juju would be the volume guy.
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: You know, I think that that's the one that's you.
- 1:46:39Speaker 5: Know, Jiju might catch a hundred if he is healthy.
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: All Right, I'll throw one in here. Celtics points tonight,
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: don't let them win tonight over under one seventeen.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: I'm gonna go under on that one. Fred with my
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: Celtics savvy.
- 1:46:54Speaker 5: Don't don't let them win tonight, that's what they're all saying.
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: And don't let them win tonight, and then they're gonna
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: do something thing that no one in the NBA has
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: ever done before.
- 1:47:02Speaker 5: So we were talking, we were was this on the
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: air off there, We're talking about the four socks. But yeah,
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: So the thing is is, like Kevin Malar said, don't
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: let us win tonight because tomorrow night we have Pedro
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: going and then the next night we have Shilling going.
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: So the Red Sox knew that they had the pitching
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: advantage if they had just they just had to win
- 1:47:19Speaker 5: Game four and then they could have the The Celtics
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: don't have a pitching advantage equivalent because they can't they.
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: Don't even have a home right home court.
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: So that's what I was saying, like, if we.
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: Win this game, then we're gonna use Robert Williams correctly
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: for the rest of the series.
- 1:47:32Speaker 5: But if they win tonight in all seriousness and they
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: really home court mattered, like they weren't four and five
- 1:47:39Speaker 5: at the Garden, they actually won home court. Then they
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: would be going back to Game six against Miami, and
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: then at that point the pressures on the heat and
- 1:47:46Speaker 5: you do never know, and then Game seven would be
- 1:47:49Speaker 5: back here. But the home court doesn't matter. So winning
- 1:47:52Speaker 5: tonight really doesn't get you anywhere.
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, the fact that the Celtics are down
- 1:47:57Speaker 2: three to zero and the Lakers got swept tells you
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: the NBA ain't fixed, you know, because it was fixed,
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: it would be Celtics Lakers.
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, there's a you know a little bit
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: of that going on obviously with the NHL too, Like
- 1:48:11Speaker 5: the Pants it's probably gonna be Panthers Vegas. And it's
- 1:48:15Speaker 5: just not you know, it's not an Original six matchup.
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: It's no Connor McDavid, Like, it's just really not a
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: matchup that And both teams play great hockey like they
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: play they're great teams and they play the sport the
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: right way. But this is gonna be one of the
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: least watched Stanley Cup in NBA finals.
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: Red Sox, Yeah, let's see Aaron is in Nashville. Any
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: plans to go live full time video and YouTube instead
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: of just Thursdays. I like being able to watch and
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: I can pause and go back in the stream if
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: I need to for any reason. There are talks about it. Yeah,
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: it's just a bad matter of manpower. But I think
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: if we can get the crew together, we might go
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: full time video.
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: For three shows and during yeah, all the time video.
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: Just make the commitment.
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: People have spoken they want more.
- 1:49:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess our roster watch video. I keep I
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: keep looking. It's up to eleven K. Now, thank you
- 1:49:15Speaker 5: for everybody for watching that. But cutting edge stuff, that's
- 1:49:18Speaker 5: what we're talking about.
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, but we need over one hundred k. That's
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: what we're looking for.
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: It's Dallas Cowboys numbers.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know we should be able to do that,
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: Yeah, Dak Piston Porter k.
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean whatever they do turns the goals. It's
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: unbeltlet it.
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: Cowboys fans are easy, easy sell. I think our fans
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: a little more discerning.
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: You know, speaking of like making money. Just the cowboys
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: and that's why you know Jerry Jones, like he comes
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: from oil, you know, that's where he comes from. So
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: but like it's every last dollar for him too. I
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: mean you know, Uh, it's it's just it's just never enough.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: And so like he's this big proponent of the Thursday
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: game and the flexing and all that stuff, and I
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: just don't get it. I don't get it.
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: It's such a heavyweight. I mean, I can't believe what
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: you said about him having a piece of concessions yeah raiders.
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: Well also he owns the concessions of the Yankees Yankee Stadium.
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: He owns Legends, which is a concession company. Wow.
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: Yeah, well he's doing it right. I mean it's funny
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: because in some ways I feel like, as a you know,
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: a football player, I would I don't want to impressed
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: like it just a guy who was like, made a
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: lot of money outside of football, and you know he
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: loves football. But I don't know there's something about that
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: for me as somebody who's like, Wow, this guy is successful.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: He's really made it work in this world. And then
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: you know, like you said, with the Davis, it's like,
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: well they owned the team, but what have they done?
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: Like, you know, I don't know what the Cowboys done.
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: Right when a super century.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: Well, okay, we're gonna wrap up a little early today. Yeah,
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: you know, I think it's time to go. I hope
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: people catch up with the part of the show that
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: we were off air afterwards.
- 1:50:58Speaker 3: Perhaps one of the questions just to up before you
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: wrap up. It's just Thursday. We don't know what time
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: practice is going to be, per I think maybe in
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: the morning, so I don't know if that might affect
- 1:51:05Speaker 3: the showtime or anything.
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: If we'll well practice in the morning, that's perfect. Yeah,
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: and then you come off the field and we talk
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: about it. Yeah.
- 1:51:10Speaker 5: I think the practice is tentatively eleven thirty. Oh, starting
- 1:51:14Speaker 5: at eleven thirty, stay said.
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: Okay, so then maybe we'll move the show till, you know,
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: to two o'clock and then everything will domino effect, you know,
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: because there's no sense doing a show while they're practicing. Now,
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: we gotta be out there because we got to be
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: out there, all right. But well, we'll give you an update.
