Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome back to the White House Government Transparency task Force releasing
- 0:05Speaker 1: new documents into the origins of the Russia collusion scandal.
- 0:09Speaker 1: This week, the declassified records showing the FBI opened an
- 0:13Speaker 1: investigation into then Attorney General Jeff's Sessions one day after
- 0:17Speaker 1: President Trump fired FBI Director James Comy overclaims Sessions made
- 0:22Speaker 1: false statements to Congress about communications with Russian officials. Then
- 0:27Speaker 1: Democratic Senators Patrick Leahy and al Franken sent a letter
- 0:31Speaker 1: to Komy demanding the bureau investigate Sessions for lying to Congress.
- 0:36Speaker 1: At the time the probe was opened, Sessions already had
- 0:39Speaker 1: recused himself from the Russia investigation, leading Deputy Attorney General
- 0:44Speaker 1: Rod Rosenstein to appoint Robert Mueller as a special counsel
- 0:48Speaker 1: into Russia collusion. Meanwhile, the Task Force releasing documents on
- 0:52Speaker 1: another covert operation the FBI ran code named Round River.
- 0:57Speaker 1: It was set up to discredit corruption allegany against the
- 1:01Speaker 1: Biden family as Russian disinformation. The secret venture began around
- 1:05Speaker 1: December of twenty nineteen, during President Trump's first impeachment on
- 1:09Speaker 1: charges of an inappropriate phone call, with Ukrainian President Volodimir
- 1:14Speaker 1: Zelinski joining me now is the chairman of the House
- 1:17Speaker 1: Judiciary Committee, Congressman Jim Jordan. Thank you so much, Congressman
- 1:21Speaker 1: for being here. And I want to talk about this
- 1:23Speaker 1: FBI investigation March toll because the timing is not coincidential,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and we're just learning about some of these details. So
- 1:30Speaker 1: President Trump is trying to fix things within the FBI
- 1:33Speaker 1: because they're going after him on unsubstantiated reports, and so
- 1:37Speaker 1: he fires James Comy. Then the next day they go
- 1:41Speaker 1: after Jeff Sessions. Because the Democrats couldn't leave the breakdown
- 1:45Speaker 1: of the institution right where it was, they had to
- 1:47Speaker 1: try to further it even more.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and remember even before that, when this all got started,
- 1:55Speaker 2: was the Clinton campaign hiring the law firm Perkins Kuey,
- 1:58Speaker 2: who hired the public relate sperm Fusion GPS, who hired
- 2:02Speaker 2: the foreigner Christopher Steele, who wrote the bogus document.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Called the dossier that Komy takes.
- 2:08Speaker 2: He knows it's bogus, he takes it to the secret Court,
- 2:10Speaker 2: defies the court to get a warrant to go spy
- 2:13Speaker 2: on President Trump's campaign. That happened, and then when people
- 2:16Speaker 2: start digging into that and figuring something out, then it's
- 2:18Speaker 2: onto this next thing. He fires Comy and they go
- 2:21Speaker 2: after Jeff Sessions. And then, as you point out, they
- 2:24Speaker 2: launched this operation a few years later when weirstor when
- 2:27Speaker 2: the number of us are starting to dig into Joe
- 2:29Speaker 2: Biden all the crazy things that went on there with
- 2:31Speaker 2: Ukraine and Bereisman and his son Hunter Biden, and they
- 2:34Speaker 2: run an operation against members of Congress and other people
- 2:37Speaker 2: affiliated with the are associated with the Trump campaign and
- 2:40Speaker 2: the Trump administration. Right, that's how ridiculous it was running
- 2:43Speaker 2: ops against the government. The FBI was doing this.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and on the Biden side, of course, it was
- 2:49Speaker 1: rush into this information. Nobody wanted to pursue that narrative
- 2:52Speaker 1: or look into any of the details. But when it
- 2:55Speaker 1: came to President Trump, you needed a special counsel investigation
- 2:59Speaker 1: where we did get more detail, which was helpful. But
- 3:01Speaker 1: when you learn little pieces of the timeline like this,
- 3:04Speaker 1: you see just how bad it was.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Remember, so the Clinton campaign does that Comy uses that
- 3:11Speaker 2: ridiculous document to go spy on President Trump's campaign. Four
- 3:15Speaker 2: years later, they run an operation against members of Congress
- 3:17Speaker 2: and members of President Trump's administration.
- 3:20Speaker 3: To try to help Biden win.
- 3:21Speaker 2: So it was always designed to hurt President Trump and
- 3:24Speaker 2: help his opponent win.
- 3:25Speaker 3: It was designed to help.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Clinton win in sixteen, Biden went in twenty four, and
- 3:29Speaker 2: then frankly, you could say in twenty and then in
- 3:31Speaker 2: twenty four you could say, well, Jack Smith was designed
- 3:34Speaker 2: to help Biden or Kamala Harris win and President Trump
- 3:37Speaker 2: lose in twenty four. So they ran operations each and
- 3:40Speaker 2: every time President Trump was running for office.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Even as you uncover all of this detail, there are
- 3:47Speaker 1: some advisors, like White House advisor Peter Navarro, who says,
- 3:50Speaker 1: you haven't done enough to investigate some of this weaponization.
- 3:53Speaker 3: What is your rebuttal to that? Done everything we can.
- 3:58Speaker 2: We've referred people prosecution. We referred John Brinnan because we
- 4:02Speaker 2: know he lied to us. We referred him eight months
- 4:04Speaker 2: ago to the Justice Department. We just recently referred Jack
- 4:07Speaker 2: Smith because he lied to us. He said he only
- 4:10Speaker 2: got the records, the phone records of members of Congress.
- 4:13Speaker 2: He said he did not get contents of members communications.
- 4:16Speaker 2: And then we find out, oh, he went to the
- 4:18Speaker 2: National Archives and got text messages between members of Trump,
- 4:22Speaker 2: President Trump's administration and members of Congress. And he had
- 4:25Speaker 2: that information and didn't tell us that when we deposed him,
- 4:28Speaker 2: so he lied to us. We referred him, and we've
- 4:31Speaker 2: also referred Thomas Wyndham, one of his deputies, for prosecution
- 4:34Speaker 2: as well, because he tried to obstruct our investigation into
- 4:38Speaker 2: this whole operation that they're run against President Trump as
- 4:42Speaker 2: the special counsel.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And we're heading into the midterms, very crucial for the party.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Americans are looking at gas prices over four dollars a gallon.
- 4:50Speaker 1: The President is still deciding how he's going to handle
- 4:54Speaker 1: that are on war and where it goes from here.
- 4:56Speaker 1: The DSA is hanging on to this idea of ford
- 5:00Speaker 1: ability to keep driving at home. They're winning some of
- 5:03Speaker 1: their races. Some people say, we actually shouldn't be wasting
- 5:06Speaker 1: time looking into what happens in the past, but we
- 5:09Speaker 1: should be focused on moving forward. Others say you need
- 5:12Speaker 1: to do a little bit of both to balance everything
- 5:14Speaker 1: out because the past is important for the future. But
- 5:18Speaker 1: your thoughts on where the Republicans stand for the midterms,
- 5:21Speaker 1: on the messaging around affordability and trying to win some
- 5:24Speaker 1: of the key races.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Well, I always say, we make this job way too complicated.
- 5:30Speaker 2: It's pretty basic. What'd you tell the voters you were
- 5:32Speaker 2: going to do when you ran for the office. If
- 5:33Speaker 2: you win, go do what you said. I think we've
- 5:36Speaker 2: done that. We said we would secure the border with
- 5:38Speaker 2: the help of President Trump, and of course is great work.
- 5:39Speaker 2: We've done that. We said we would cut taxes. We
- 5:42Speaker 2: did that.
- 5:43Speaker 3: The economy is moving in a pretty good direction.
- 5:45Speaker 2: But I understand there are cost out there that are
- 5:47Speaker 2: tough on middle class and working class families.
- 5:49Speaker 3: We're working on that.
- 5:51Speaker 2: But I do think that when you step back and
- 5:52Speaker 2: look at the midterms, the real takeaway I think is
- 5:55Speaker 2: going to be all the crazy positions the left, which
- 5:59Speaker 2: now controls their party, all the crazy positions they're taking.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I mean, it's crazy to defund the police. It's crazy
- 6:04Speaker 2: to say you want to abolish ice. It's crazy to
- 6:06Speaker 2: say men should compete against women in sports. It's crazy
- 6:09Speaker 2: to shut down the government twice and won Congress is
- 6:11Speaker 2: what the Democrats did. It's crazy to have this sanctuary
- 6:14Speaker 2: jurisdiction policy where politicians tell local law enforcement not to
- 6:18Speaker 2: work with federal law enforcement when it comes to enforcing
- 6:20Speaker 2: federal law.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Dumbest thing I've ever heard.
- 6:22Speaker 2: So all these crazy positions, Not to mention the DSA
- 6:26Speaker 2: candidates who said they don't like Thanksgiving, don't like football,
- 6:29Speaker 2: and don't like fireworks for goodness sake. So I think
- 6:31Speaker 2: we need to show that contrast and remind voters we
- 6:34Speaker 2: are working on the affordability issue while we have done
- 6:37Speaker 2: what we said we would do when they elected us
- 6:40Speaker 2: in twenty twenty four, namely securing the border and making
- 6:43Speaker 2: sure their taxes are low.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and the Democrat Party gave the reins away to
- 6:47Speaker 1: some of these people who are just going to the
- 6:50Speaker 1: far left, fringes and extreme. But then there are people
- 6:53Speaker 1: like AOC who have been smarter about it. Now she's
- 6:56Speaker 1: laughing off woke one because she might want to run
- 6:59Speaker 1: for president. Realize is there's not a national platform for
- 7:03Speaker 1: that for her.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah, there's not a national platform for not liking Thanksgiving
- 7:08Speaker 2: and not liking football for goodnessake. Next they're going to
- 7:11Speaker 2: tell us they don't like apple pie and ice cream,
- 7:12Speaker 2: which go together, and like football and Thanksgiving for you know.
- 7:16Speaker 2: So yeah, this is they can try to dismiss it,
- 7:18Speaker 2: but the American people are sharp. The American people have
- 7:21Speaker 2: common sense, and I think they see common sense versus
- 7:24Speaker 2: the crazy on the.
- 7:24Speaker 3: On the Democrat left.
- 7:26Speaker 2: And I think they're going to vote for common sense
- 7:27Speaker 2: this November, and we will keep the majority and keep
- 7:29Speaker 2: moving in the right direction.
- 7:30Speaker 3: All right.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Congressman Jim Jordan, thank you so much for being here.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Really appreciate it, you.
