- 0:19Speaker 1: Jeremy.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hi, Heather, how you doing very well? Thank you? Now.
- 0:22Speaker 2: A to Milk had a downgrade in the forecast earnings
- 0:24Speaker 2: this week.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Of course, did you find that surprising for a business
- 0:27Speaker 1: that had been going so well?
- 0:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. It was slightly disappointing for the market
- 0:33Speaker 2: and for a two particularly that they're just excuse me,
- 0:36Speaker 2: upgraded their earnings only only six weeks ago. And a
- 0:40Speaker 2: reminder for listeners A to Milk they are a large
- 0:43Speaker 2: supply of formula product into the very important Chinese market,
- 0:47Speaker 2: and you're right, they have been doing really really well
- 0:50Speaker 2: of late and they are now, in fact the second
- 0:53Speaker 2: largest international brand in the huge Chinese market. And you know,
- 0:57Speaker 2: that's an outstanding outcome for a relatively relatively new company.
- 1:00Speaker 2: But I mean, this week, unfortunately, they're downgraded their earnings
- 1:03Speaker 2: by around thirteen or forteen percent, and the shap price
- 1:06Speaker 2: is off roughly the roughly same amount. But I would
- 1:10Speaker 2: just comment that you know, over the past two years,
- 1:14Speaker 2: the share price is still up over fifty percent taking
- 1:17Speaker 2: into account this downgrade, so you know, still a very
- 1:20Speaker 2: very strong performer.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Now, it didn't seem like it was all bad news, though.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Was it. Yeah, I mean that was interesting reading from
- 1:27Speaker 2: some of the comments from management, and I would agree,
- 1:31Speaker 2: I mean, usually profit warnings of bad news, but not
- 1:33Speaker 2: all us was bad news because on one hand, part
- 1:36Speaker 2: of the issue is that they're having very very strong
- 1:39Speaker 2: demand and they're struggling to be able to supply that demand,
- 1:43Speaker 2: and unfortunately they haven't had enough inventory in market and
- 1:46Speaker 2: they're having some problem with stockouts on the shelves, and
- 1:50Speaker 2: part of this is its outsource manufacturing. It's just been
- 1:53Speaker 2: struggling to keep up keep up with this demand and
- 1:55Speaker 2: hasn't been able to flex up enough. So unfortunately A
- 1:59Speaker 2: two has been missing out on a few more sales
- 2:01Speaker 2: than they otherwise thought they would have got. Yeah, some
- 2:04Speaker 2: delays at the Chinese border as well. A Yeah, I
- 2:07Speaker 2: mean this is the second factor that they had, and
- 2:09Speaker 2: again outside of their control somewhats and then unfortunately some
- 2:13Speaker 2: of their key competitors have had issues with with product recalls,
- 2:16Speaker 2: which is obviously very very sensitive and infant formula products.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So the Chinese authorities have understandable, understandably put in a
- 2:24Speaker 2: few more additional checks.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Uh.
- 2:27Speaker 2: And A two has been been caught up in this too,
- 2:29Speaker 2: and of course they're not caught up on these recalls,
- 2:32Speaker 2: but they are getting these extra checks and unfortunately they're
- 2:37Speaker 2: having to the products getting held up at the border
- 2:39Speaker 2: and they're having to try and air rates and product
- 2:41Speaker 2: in and this is this is causing some additional costs
- 2:44Speaker 2: for them. So they are getting a squeezed a little
- 2:46Speaker 2: bit from both sides, slightly lower revenue than their respecting
- 2:49Speaker 2: and then and then higher costs from from from these
- 2:51Speaker 2: delays and more air f rate going in. Do you
- 2:54Speaker 2: think this is a temporary blipf ay too. Yeah, I mean,
- 2:59Speaker 2: I'd just like to stress again that they haven't had
- 3:01Speaker 2: any products issues with their products in terms of the
- 3:04Speaker 2: in terms of the recalls, so as I mentioned earlier,
- 3:06Speaker 2: they are going going really really well, so you know,
- 3:09Speaker 2: I think they will sort these issues out. I mean,
- 3:11Speaker 2: they're they're insourcing this manufacturing to try and get a
- 3:14Speaker 2: bit more control of the process. They've got some new
- 3:16Speaker 2: products coming out which which have been performing really well.
- 3:19Speaker 2: And then they're entering some new geographies too, in Southeast Asia,
- 3:23Speaker 2: so they will sort these products out, and especially given
- 3:27Speaker 2: how well the business is done in recent years and
- 3:30Speaker 2: and the size of the prize and this massive Chinese
- 3:32Speaker 2: market is huge, so there is a lot of upside
- 3:35Speaker 2: here for a two if they can continue to execute
- 3:38Speaker 2: brilliant Hi.
