- 0:00So here are five anxiety symptoms in men that you
- 0:02definitely need to spot. Hey guys, welcome back to the
- 0:11aspy world. My name is Dan, I have autism,

- 0:16mental health. So if you're new around here and

- 0:29So anxiety, can it hit you hard? Of course it can.
- 0:33And it impacts anybody and everybody.
- 0:36But there are like lots of people out there, especially
- 0:38men, who think it's very masculine, to not talk about
- 0:41their issues or their mental health and kind of like brush it
- 0:44off and kind of, I don't know, it shows a sign of weakness if
- 0:48you say that you have mental health issues for some people
- 0:50anyway, because that's the kind of construct that society has
- 0:52dealt with and given us at the moment.
- 0:53So I decided that it was important that we understand the
- 0:56issues that men face when they're having anxiety attacks
- 0:58and anxiety symptoms. So.
- 1:00So I have put out five anxiety symptoms in men that you
- 1:04definitely need to know. And yeah, let's start right now,
- 1:07guys. The first one here is a racing
- 1:10heart. Now when adrenaline starts
- 1:12pumping around your body due to like increased anxiety, your
- 1:15heart rate will actually start beating more rapidly.
- 1:19So as it's like beating more rapidly, you know, it's
- 1:22everything going on and you're getting more kind of like our
- 1:24breath and your heart beating rapidly.
- 1:26This is a very, very telltale sign that you're getting
- 1:28anxious. So what would I say is that you
- 1:32have to watch out for this as an early warning sign for being
- 1:34anxious. Your heart starts beating,
- 1:35you'll definitely know about it, 'cause you can feel it in your
- 1:37chest. Your heart start beating right
- 1:38out your chest. Like it's definitely something
- 1:41to look out for and nothing to be ashamed of.
- 1:43You just need to kind of go, OK, well, maybe I'm feeling a bit
- 1:45anxious right now. My heart rate is increased.
- 1:46You can also use an Apple Watch or something like that to kind
- 1:48of like track your heart rate to see if it increases anywhere.
- 1:51Good tip, OK #2 is excessive sweating.
- 1:54Now when you're like, you know, pumping adrenaline around your
- 1:56body and your heart racing, of course you're going to start
- 1:58sweating. That's why when you work out,
- 1:59isn't it, your heart rate increases and you sweat.
- 2:01So if you are sweating quite a lot and sweating excessively,
- 2:04this is an indication that you're online, heading straight
- 2:07for an anxiety attack. And anxiety is creeping up on
- 2:10you. But you know, your heart rate is
- 2:12beating out your chest and you start sweating, you got sweat
- 2:15your palms. You're like, Oh my goodness.
- 2:16You know, this is something that happens when you are feeling
- 2:19agitated and when you're feeling anxious.
- 2:21So bear that in mind. Okay.
- 2:23So #3 is muscle tension. Now, muscle tension happens
- 2:27because your body is going to fight or flight mode, which
- 2:30means it thinks that it needs to kind of tense up in case you
- 2:33need to fight something. And then you, you need to kind
- 2:36of go running from danger or whatever, right.
- 2:41And that's what the fight or fight things for because
- 2:42adrenaline gets released into your body and then that's what
- 2:44happens. But your muscles will start
- 2:46tensing up because if you're just like walking around the
- 2:48shop and you get an anxiety attack and your body thinks you
- 2:50have to fight a Saber tooth tiger and your body start
- 2:52tensing up, you'll feel your muscles just kind of getting all
- 2:55tense. And it's, yeah, it's not a good
- 2:56feeling. And that tense lasts a long,
- 2:58long time. Actually, after after the panic
- 3:00attack happens, you'll be feeling sore from it, as if
- 3:02you've just done a workout. #4 here is restlessness or
- 3:05agitation. Now due to the male dominance of
- 3:08testosterone, agitation will be a prominent experience when
- 3:11you're experiencing anxiety, which means that you'll be quite
- 3:13tense and and snappy and and agitated and everything will
- 3:16become fight or flight. Because that's what's happening.
- 3:18You're you're experiencing a mode that is there to protect
- 3:21you against, Same with tigers or glaciers or whatever.
- 3:23And so, you know, you're working on the store and something
- 3:27happens and it's like, well, why is there a fight or flight
- 3:30happening in the store? Because we're now triggered by
- 3:32involuntary actions. That all causes anxiety and
- 3:35causes fear and causes to have all of these things coming into
- 3:38play. But bear in mind these are all
- 3:39symptoms of anxiety and the potential anxiety attacks.
- 3:43So #5 is the dizziness of Vertigo.
- 3:45So after having a rush of a dry line around your body and the
- 3:49fight or flight thing coming in, your brain will start to kind of
- 3:52be like, whoa, it needs a bit of air and a bit of space and maybe
- 3:54become dizzy and a bit of Vertigo and not be able to focus
- 3:57on what you're doing because your body's just gone through
- 3:59like a workout, like a marathon, if you will.
- 4:02You know, it's just done all of this stuff and just worked
- 4:04itself up because at the end of the day, you you would
- 4:07potentially fight for your life in your body's response to
- 4:10stuff. So these five symptoms are your
- 4:12best way of understanding your body and your best way of
- 4:14understanding, hey, do I have an anxiety issue?
- 4:17Do I have anxiety? Is that coming on?
- 4:19This is how you deal with it. That's, that's what it is.
- 4:21You know, you have to listen to your body.
- 4:22You have to listen to what happened.
- 4:26So you know, if you're a guy, you're watching this or you're a
- 4:28partner and you know your partner's a guy and you're kind
- 4:32of watching this, watch out for these symptoms and definitely
- 4:34just kind of take it easy. There's a bunch of stuff that
- 4:36I've done about how to help for anxiety.
- 4:39I'll leave it in a card in the end screen and I'll put it in
- 4:41the description down below where you can check out more hacks for
- 4:44how to avoid anxiety attacks and how to lower anxiety in general.
