- 0:58Speaker 2: We started thing God is Monday seven eight years straight.
- 1:01Speaker 2: We put up a video every single Monday I'm talking
- 1:04Speaker 2: about without failed ringsleep.
- 1:06Speaker 3: It didn't matter.
- 1:06Speaker 2: So now what I realized started to happen was even
- 1:09Speaker 2: if you rock with Tony Robbins, you got e right
- 1:12Speaker 2: at your fingertips every day. So by the time you
- 1:15Speaker 2: watching him on a regular basis and waiting on your
- 1:17Speaker 2: box set DVDs because everybody else was doing the freemium model, right, like, hey,
- 1:22Speaker 2: watch two minutes of this and then you order the rest.
- 1:25Speaker 2: We just start giving away every time because he's such
- 1:28Speaker 2: a content machine. You see most of the time, like
- 1:30Speaker 2: you go to like comedy concerts now and they take
- 1:32Speaker 2: your phone. It's because they're doing the exact same routine
- 1:34Speaker 2: every time. He never gave the same speech twice in
- 1:37Speaker 2: his life, and so I realized that he was a
- 1:39Speaker 2: content machine. So we just start putting it out. I'm
- 1:41Speaker 2: talking about free all day. Said well man, I go
- 1:43Speaker 2: to the mall on a regular basis, and when I
- 1:45Speaker 2: go through the food course, shout out to my Asian brethren.
- 1:47Speaker 2: It's only one group of people willing to let you
- 1:49Speaker 2: try their stuff. I'm just being real. They had the
- 1:52Speaker 2: two pick out and you walking past them and they
- 1:54Speaker 2: like here and you like you won't even want them,
- 1:56Speaker 2: like boom, and then you're like, you know what, I
- 1:58Speaker 2: take the bourbon I get. You know what I'm saying,
- 2:00Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, okay, people want to try it first,
- 2:03Speaker 2: So we start giving it away and then when people
- 2:05Speaker 2: start playing that kind of money, I'm like, bro, they've
- 2:08Speaker 2: given us this kind of check to see the same
- 2:11Speaker 2: thing that we've given them every single week.
- 2:13Speaker 4: They just want to see it live.
- 2:16Speaker 5: My graduates from my school being Forbes back drop, Mike
- 2:22Speaker 5: Drop backdrop.
- 2:36Speaker 6: All right, guys, welcome back EYL South Atlanta Edition. This
- 2:41Speaker 6: is something that we've been looking forward to for a
- 2:43Speaker 6: long time, actually since we probably even started the show.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Was one of the main targets. E T the hip
- 2:51Speaker 6: hop preacher Eric Thomas, a legend in the game, in
- 2:56Speaker 6: my opinion.
- 2:57Speaker 3: The number one motivational speaker in the world.
- 3:00Speaker 6: Correct me if I'm wrong, Not that's.
- 3:05Speaker 4: What, that's what Let's says.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Let's brown.
- 3:10Speaker 6: So you know, you probably obviously have seen clips on Instagram, YouTube,
- 3:14Speaker 6: stuff like that, but there's always more to the story.
- 3:17Speaker 6: And it's interesting because even researching you, there's not a
- 3:20Speaker 6: lot of information about you, and it's it's a lot
- 3:24Speaker 6: of speeches, it's a lot of but it's not a
- 3:25Speaker 6: lot of information. Definitely not a lot of business information.
- 3:28Speaker 6: And when people look at things, they don't necessarily look
- 3:31Speaker 6: to see the business side of it. So that brings
- 3:33Speaker 6: me to the good Brother CJ. So CJ is somebody
- 3:36Speaker 6: that you might not be familiar with, but CJ is
- 3:39Speaker 6: somebody that I was introduced to early on from shout
- 3:41Speaker 6: out to my guy Alex.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Good energy was with us.
- 3:44Speaker 6: So when I first met Alex and he was telling
- 3:47Speaker 6: me about his journey, we'll talk about that with et
- 3:49Speaker 6: and the family, and he was talking about CJ. And
- 3:51Speaker 6: he's like, CJ is the person that you have God's like,
- 3:54Speaker 6: he's the he's the plug, like he's the one that
- 3:56Speaker 6: actually puts the plays together, does that and the third
- 3:59Speaker 6: and then I had deveiled relationship with Toby. Shout out Tobe,
- 4:02Speaker 6: we'll talk about that as well, described the relationship. So
- 4:15Speaker 6: and then he told me about you and then shout
- 4:18Speaker 6: out to Nikki. She's here a legend, Yes, a legend
- 4:20Speaker 6: in the game contentyl alumna. She told me about you.
- 4:24Speaker 6: So I've been hearing about your name. I think I
- 4:25Speaker 6: spoke to you a few times as well, And I
- 4:27Speaker 6: was hearing about your name for a long time. One
- 4:29Speaker 6: of these guys that's behind the scenes. And I feel
- 4:30Speaker 6: like there's always a guy that's behind the scenes. Even
- 4:34Speaker 6: if you look at Rockefeller you had Jay you had dame,
- 4:36Speaker 6: but there was bigs like you know what I'm saying,
- 4:38Speaker 6: or like cash money this baby. But then there's slim
- 4:41Speaker 6: like there's always somebody that's behind the scenes that doesn't
- 4:44Speaker 6: really speak a lot publicly, but it's like a mastermind
- 4:48Speaker 6: when it comes to moving pieces together in business. So CJ.
- 4:51Speaker 6: This is a very rare between that you get to
- 4:53Speaker 6: hear him speak. So we got a two for one.
- 4:55Speaker 6: We got too.
- 4:57Speaker 4: On the platform, not our own, I guess one of
- 4:59Speaker 4: the first.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I appreciate and I appreciate you. So this is
- 5:03Speaker 6: gonna be a powerful conversation. We're gona go through the journey.
- 5:05Speaker 6: We gon talk about business, were gonna talk about scale,
- 5:07Speaker 6: We're gonna talk about how you guys, you know, got
- 5:08Speaker 6: to where you are now and where you're planning on going.
- 5:11Speaker 6: So first and foremost, thank you for joining us. Appreciate it. Yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 6: So all right, so let's start. There's a lot of
- 5:18Speaker 6: things I want to talk about, but let's get let's
- 5:19Speaker 6: get some of the badstory. I got introduced to you
- 5:22Speaker 6: a few years ago on social media, just watching the
- 5:25Speaker 6: clips and stuff like that. And like most people I
- 5:29Speaker 6: saw like you here, I didn't see you climbing up.
- 5:34Speaker 6: I don't even know this story climbing up. So can
- 5:37Speaker 6: you tell a little backstory of what made you get
- 5:39Speaker 6: into the field of motivational speaking, because it's something that
- 5:43Speaker 6: I guess most people don't really think about as a
- 5:46Speaker 6: viable career and let alone to become like the number
- 5:49Speaker 6: one in the space, like, that's very rare. So what
- 5:52Speaker 6: got you on that path of motivational speaking.
- 5:54Speaker 7: I'm gonna be real, I think I'm number one just
- 5:55Speaker 7: because as a as a people, we have forgotten, you know,
- 6:00Speaker 7: what we were. So Frederick Dougas was an orator, you know,
- 6:04Speaker 7: Dubois was an orator, X was an orator, Garvey was
- 6:07Speaker 7: a and I think what happened is is we progressed
- 6:10Speaker 7: and started making money. We went to hip hop, you
- 6:12Speaker 7: know what I'm saying, We went to football and basketball,
- 6:15Speaker 7: But before there was any of that, we were orators.
- 6:18Speaker 7: Family lou Hamer like, we have always been communicated. So
- 6:21Speaker 7: for me growing up, I'm a seventies kid, so I
- 6:26Speaker 7: have come like right out of X getting shot and killed,
- 6:30Speaker 7: Martin Luther King in the sixties, getting shot and killed,
- 6:32Speaker 7: you know, being in Detroit, James Brown, I'm black and
- 6:36Speaker 7: I'm proud, you know, Marvin Gay, Curtis Mayfield, you feel me.
- 6:40Speaker 7: So I've always been connected to that part of our
- 6:44Speaker 7: story where our heroes were preachers, our heroes were orators
- 6:49Speaker 7: before hip hop really blew up like it did. So
- 6:53Speaker 7: for me, you know, my uncles were part of the
- 6:54Speaker 7: Black Panther Party movement. So I like a kid who
- 6:58Speaker 7: might look up to Doctor J or you know, a
- 7:02Speaker 7: Lebron Michael George. I would hear X and listen to
- 7:06Speaker 7: X tapes and be like, man, Malcolm X. I listen
- 7:09Speaker 7: to doctor Marthur King and get chills and be like, yo,
- 7:12Speaker 7: one of these days, like I'm gonna do that right there,
- 7:14Speaker 7: and I'm gonna do that for my people. So just
- 7:16Speaker 7: growing up in Detroit, I'm originally from Chicago. You know,
- 7:20Speaker 7: people always whatever, but it is what it is. My
- 7:23Speaker 7: mom grew up in Chicago, got pregnant with me, but
- 7:25Speaker 7: then she end up marry and we moved to Detroit.
- 7:27Speaker 7: So most of my life, you know, back and forth
- 7:29Speaker 7: between the two. But that was it, bruh, just you know.
- 7:32Speaker 7: Then I went to an HBCU and all we talk
- 7:34Speaker 7: about in class eyes on the Prize, you know, Martin stuff,
- 7:38Speaker 7: Malcolm stuff and just inundated with our culture and our history.
- 7:42Speaker 7: So that's where I started not speaking like people think
- 7:46Speaker 7: on the stage. But I ran a GED program. So
- 7:48Speaker 7: so Black College was like, yo, you got to give back.
- 7:51Speaker 7: So I would go to the hood. I'd go to
- 7:53Speaker 7: the projects. I grew up with my grandma, my aunts
- 7:55Speaker 7: in the projects, Hermergartens, you know, And so for me,
- 7:59Speaker 7: I was I'm going the hood. So I'm literally bringing
- 8:02Speaker 7: these drug dealers, cause you know how it is, it's
- 8:05Speaker 7: either you go to jail or you go get your GED,
- 8:07Speaker 7: or it's either you pregnant and you gotta get this
- 8:10Speaker 7: GED to get welfare.
- 8:12Speaker 4: So that was my students. So I was on the
- 8:14Speaker 4: block after college.
- 8:16Speaker 7: After my class, I'd be on the block, sitting down
- 8:19Speaker 7: talking to the kids running my GED program. And so
- 8:22Speaker 7: the first thirty minutes was these kids, don't they not
- 8:26Speaker 7: motivated to learn, they don't want to read books. And
- 8:29Speaker 7: so I would take thirty minutes of just motivating whatever,
- 8:33Speaker 7: and I pay attention like, ooh they feeling that, Oh
- 8:35Speaker 7: they love that story. Oh they like when I do
- 8:37Speaker 7: it that way, or they like that, And I would
- 8:39Speaker 7: take that from that, taken to the college campus, We
- 8:42Speaker 7: had a ministry Bell Tower Ministry every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday,
- 8:46Speaker 7: and I would be doing my thing there. And what
- 8:47Speaker 7: was so funny about the Bell Tower It's dudes who
- 8:50Speaker 7: was like, Bro, it's a Christian school, but I ain't
- 8:53Speaker 7: really feeling like that church stuff. They would come to
- 8:55Speaker 7: my stuff, and I kind of knew at an early
- 8:58Speaker 7: age that I add something special because it was speaking
- 9:03Speaker 7: merged with that urban hip hop feel.
- 9:05Speaker 8: So let's talk about the church for a second, because
- 9:08Speaker 8: the early stages, obviously there was homostician story and there's
- 9:11Speaker 8: you know part of it a preacher spoke life into you.
- 9:15Speaker 8: So I'm wondering that that moment changed the trajectory of
- 9:18Speaker 8: how you were going to think. And is that the
- 9:20Speaker 8: reason that you just said I need to pour back
- 9:22Speaker 8: into communities because this happened for me.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Now I got to pay before.
- 9:26Speaker 7: Well, you know what was crazy is like I was
- 9:28Speaker 7: always sandwiched prior to like what I learned, bro, And
- 9:33Speaker 7: I'm being real like, how like, let's say you in
- 9:35Speaker 7: New York. There's just certain figures in New York. You
- 9:38Speaker 7: just like yo, Biggie, you know what I'm saying. You
- 9:40Speaker 7: like jay Z, you know what I'm saying just certain
- 9:42Speaker 7: figures when you grew up. When I grew up, it
- 9:44Speaker 7: was Martin Luther King was just like Bro, like bigger
- 9:47Speaker 7: than any pop.
- 9:48Speaker 4: He bigger than anybody.
- 9:49Speaker 7: Every house you go to, they got to picture doctor
- 9:52Speaker 7: mart Luther King every house you go into. And so
- 9:54Speaker 7: for us, it was like you always knew I got
- 9:58Speaker 7: to give back. Why because not only did Martin get back,
- 10:01Speaker 7: he had got shot and killed for the cause. So
- 10:03Speaker 7: it was like he had just gotten shot. Like it
- 10:05Speaker 7: wasn't like you got Biggie shot pot imagine I'm boring
- 10:09Speaker 7: nineteen seventy. Martin Kick just got shot. So they were
- 10:12Speaker 7: still talking about King like he was alive.
- 10:14Speaker 3: You feel me.
- 10:15Speaker 7: So when you were shorty, everything you hear TV, everything,
- 10:18Speaker 7: I have a dream speech, like everything you hear is
- 10:21Speaker 7: Martin Martin. So I always felt like rosa parts like
- 10:24Speaker 7: his streets named after them in Detroit. So I always
- 10:26Speaker 7: felt like I gotta do that. I wasn't necessarily doing it,
- 10:30Speaker 7: if that makes sense, but I always felt like I
- 10:33Speaker 7: gotta do that. So when the pastor was like, bro,
- 10:36Speaker 7: you got something like Bro, you gotta imagine I was
- 10:38Speaker 7: homeless bro eating out of trash, cast, you know what
- 10:40Speaker 7: I'm saying.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Like I was.
- 10:42Speaker 7: Thinking, like when people think homeless, they I don't know
- 10:44Speaker 7: what they think. They like, Oh, he was bro like
- 10:46Speaker 7: I was wearing the same clothes I was coming to church,
- 10:48Speaker 7: felt like this my breath was thinking.
- 10:50Speaker 4: I wasn't brushing my teeth, you know what I'm saying.
- 10:52Speaker 7: So for this man to pull me to the side
- 10:53Speaker 7: and go, bro, you got an annointy. I ain't know
- 10:56Speaker 7: what that meant. I didn't grow up in church. I
- 10:58Speaker 7: never see my parents pray. But he was like, you
- 11:01Speaker 7: got an anointing, Like come back to church every week.
- 11:04Speaker 7: They started really like loving on me, making sure I
- 11:06Speaker 7: was there. Like I had to go to work. I
- 11:09Speaker 7: was working at McDonald's. They was taking me to work
- 11:11Speaker 7: every day, making sure we didn't have cell phones.
- 11:13Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying.
- 11:14Speaker 7: But they was making sure when we met at church
- 11:16Speaker 7: that I was good.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Feed me.
- 11:18Speaker 7: He was like, bruh, we're gonna get you your ged.
- 11:20Speaker 7: You're gonna get off these streets and we're gonna send
- 11:22Speaker 7: you to Oakwood College. And that was just all they
- 11:26Speaker 7: energy was on me getting my ged going to college,
- 11:28Speaker 7: and eventually I did and went to Oakwood and so
- 11:31Speaker 7: you got to imagine having people like pick you up
- 11:35Speaker 7: and take you out of what you're in and put
- 11:37Speaker 7: you on a solid From that point forth, bruh, I.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Was like, Yo, what can I do for you?
- 11:42Speaker 7: Like matter of fact, quiet as kept that pastor actually
- 11:46Speaker 7: came to our college and did a revival, so like
- 11:49Speaker 7: it didn't have to do with me. I just happened
- 11:51Speaker 7: to go to year that he came into the revival.
- 11:53Speaker 7: I promise you, my man must have baptized like three
- 11:55Speaker 7: hundred and fifty people, no, lie, So you gotta imagine
- 11:58Speaker 7: this the dude that helped me. I'm watching my man.
- 12:00Speaker 7: He was an army man, he was an army back.
- 12:02Speaker 7: I'm watching him baptized three hundred like Bro, they had
- 12:05Speaker 7: to do it in days. It was so many kids.
- 12:07Speaker 7: So I'm looking up to this guy like yo, bro,
- 12:10Speaker 7: you know, like man, thank you. And I remember us
- 12:12Speaker 7: having a conversation and he said, the only thing I
- 12:14Speaker 7: want you to do for me is do what I
- 12:17Speaker 7: did for you for others. And he like fueled me
- 12:19Speaker 7: and I was like, bro, let's go. And then when
- 12:21Speaker 7: he passed, that.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Was another level of okay.
- 12:24Speaker 7: He gone like his spirit ain't in an earth I'm
- 12:27Speaker 7: about to take this thing to a whole nother level.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:30Speaker 8: So after that, you know it's interesting. You got your ged. Yeah,
- 12:33Speaker 8: but you studied education.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I did so.
- 12:35Speaker 8: He studied education at Oakwood, had a degree in education leadership.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Yeah, graduated, went to Michigan State. Absolutely when you met
- 12:44Speaker 3: this gentleman. Absolutely, So how did this come about?
- 12:47Speaker 4: Right?
- 12:48Speaker 3: He was? He a student in your class? Well, you
- 12:50Speaker 3: know what's so crazy? I ain't no C.
- 12:52Speaker 7: I had been there from two thousand and three to
- 12:55Speaker 7: two thousand and five getting.
- 12:56Speaker 4: My masters cause I put my head down, you know
- 12:59Speaker 4: what I'm saying.
- 12:59Speaker 7: I would be doing stuff for the university, but I
- 13:01Speaker 7: kind of had my head down, just studying, and I
- 13:03Speaker 7: would do a weekly program called Blackmail Initiative, Right, And
- 13:08Speaker 7: so I didn't know C. So after I graduated, they
- 13:12Speaker 7: hired me and so I started my own program. And
- 13:14Speaker 7: when I started my program, I don't know it just
- 13:17Speaker 7: random his coach from high school, my guy. I've been
- 13:19Speaker 7: knowing him since like ninety five. He was like, E,
- 13:22Speaker 7: you need to come to this event talk to the kids.
- 13:24Speaker 7: I was like, bet, I got you. So I end
- 13:26Speaker 7: up not being able to go because I had an event.
- 13:28Speaker 7: They canceled last minute. I was like, bo I got you.
- 13:31Speaker 7: I'm about to come up there, like put me in wherever.
- 13:33Speaker 7: He's like, you're good.
- 13:34Speaker 4: So why I was sitting there.
- 13:35Speaker 7: He's like, ee, I don't know where I'm gonna put you,
- 13:37Speaker 7: but like we're gonna figure something out. I was like,
- 13:38Speaker 7: all right, bet, just I'll come to lunch and chill
- 13:40Speaker 7: until you figure it out. So while I'm sitting there chilling,
- 13:43Speaker 7: his father is sitting across from me, and so you know,
- 13:46Speaker 7: his father like black black, you know what I'm saying,
- 13:49Speaker 7: like he from that era. So we chopping it up
- 13:51Speaker 7: about the culture, We chopped it up about history, we
- 13:55Speaker 7: chopped up about life. And so he like where you at.
- 13:57Speaker 7: I'm like, I'm in Michigan State. I just got hired,
- 13:59Speaker 7: you know what. Him from Detroit.
- 14:00Speaker 4: He was like you lying. I was like yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 3: He was like, my son's up there.
- 14:03Speaker 4: I was like for real.
- 14:04Speaker 7: He's like, yeah, my son up there, and he doing
- 14:06Speaker 7: same stuff you doing, Like I trained him that way,
- 14:09Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying to give back. And I
- 14:10Speaker 7: was like, okay, bet tell him come hol up in
- 14:12Speaker 7: my office. He's like all right, back, and I you know, bro,
- 14:14Speaker 7: I'm not trying to be funny, y'all know it. We
- 14:16Speaker 7: meet thousands of people, so people always saying you know
- 14:20Speaker 7: what I'm saying, like, E, I'm gonna call you, or
- 14:22Speaker 7: I want my child to meet you.
- 14:23Speaker 3: I'm like whatever.
- 14:24Speaker 7: I brushed it off, like if you're up there, he
- 14:26Speaker 7: up there, I meet him? I meaning whatever, but whatever,
- 14:28Speaker 7: And I guess that Monday. We were together Friday, and
- 14:32Speaker 7: he told his son to come see me on Monday.
- 14:34Speaker 7: And my man came up there on Monday and was like, yo,
- 14:36Speaker 7: you remember Mr Carl's point, Like that was my father's
- 14:39Speaker 7: like you lye coach Bogan.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I was like, bet, I'm not lying to you. Like
- 14:42Speaker 4: we met that day. I showed him a video that
- 14:45Speaker 4: I did, showing him.
- 14:46Speaker 7: The work that I had done before. It's like a
- 14:48Speaker 7: promo video. I had some work I did.
- 14:50Speaker 4: He watched.
- 14:51Speaker 7: It was like, I see you tomorrow and from that
- 14:53Speaker 7: day forth, Bro, Like we talked every day since two
- 14:56Speaker 7: thousand and with I don't know what that was in
- 14:58Speaker 7: two thousand and five six, remember, but.
- 15:01Speaker 3: We haven't separated since that day.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Yeah, So it was crazy too, bro, just to elaborate,
- 15:06Speaker 2: Like my dad was so adamant about me meeting this dude,
- 15:09Speaker 2: Like my dad ain't really on that, you know what
- 15:10Speaker 2: I'm saying. But he called me Friday, was like, Yo,
- 15:12Speaker 2: I meant this dude, Eric Thomas, you need to go
- 15:14Speaker 2: see him. I got his card, you know what I'm saying.
- 15:15Speaker 2: This is addresses office. I'm like, bet he called me Saturday.
- 15:19Speaker 2: It was like, hey, remember on Monday morning I told
- 15:21Speaker 2: you call me Sunday night was like hey, tomorrow morning
- 15:25Speaker 2: and I was like, and I'm gonna be real. I'm
- 15:27Speaker 2: in college, I'm doing my thing. I wasn't gonna go,
- 15:29Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like if he would have
- 15:30Speaker 2: just said it one time, I won't gonna go. I
- 15:32Speaker 2: think my dad knew. And he called me Monday morning,
- 15:34Speaker 2: seven o'clock in the morning. I was at my apartment.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Hit me up, like you on your way. I was like, man, yeah, bro,
- 15:39Speaker 2: like so went straight over there. So Pops was really
- 15:43Speaker 2: the architect of the whole, you know, shot at the Pops.
- 15:47Speaker 6: What was your early responsibilities, like when you first started
- 15:49Speaker 6: the link with ET, what did you do?
- 15:51Speaker 4: You know what I didn't know.
- 15:54Speaker 2: The first thing that he taught me was that this
- 15:55Speaker 2: could be a career, right, like you know just speaking,
- 15:59Speaker 2: you know, edge kay, you know, going around because the
- 16:01Speaker 2: crazy thing is I love it.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Now.
- 16:03Speaker 2: You mentioned that I don't do a lot in front
- 16:05Speaker 2: of the camera stuff like that. But I started off speaking.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I had been speaking since I was in the eighth grade.
- 16:09Speaker 2: I always had to give to speak. I was introducing
- 16:11Speaker 2: the mayor of the city anytime it was gun violent stuff.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I would like, stand up for the school talk class
- 16:16Speaker 2: president type stuff. And then I met E and I
- 16:19Speaker 2: was like, yo, you can get paid doing this. Like
- 16:21Speaker 2: I was just doing it like on a hum giving
- 16:23Speaker 2: back stuff like this. I never knew it could be
- 16:24Speaker 2: a career. And he was getting booked by like local
- 16:27Speaker 2: churches and stuff like that, and so my early responsibility
- 16:30Speaker 2: was really just rolling with him and speaking like that's
- 16:33Speaker 2: all we knew to do. So we got a gig
- 16:35Speaker 2: and we went out to Crenshaw, California, some game prevention stuff,
- 16:38Speaker 2: and I was just speaking right alongside. And it wasn't
- 16:41Speaker 2: until later that I realized, like, oh, we're not gonna
- 16:44Speaker 2: blow up like this, you know what I'm saying. So
- 16:46Speaker 2: early on it was just being his right hand man,
- 16:48Speaker 2: rolling the He mentioned the next day after I met him,
- 16:53Speaker 2: he was like, yo, We're going up to Maxi's, which
- 16:55Speaker 2: is a correctional facility for juveniles.
- 16:58Speaker 3: We just went up there.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Bro you talking about kids in there for like ten
- 17:01Speaker 2: fifteen years in there for murder, all kind of stuff.
- 17:03Speaker 2: And we went up there and he was like, yo,
- 17:05Speaker 2: get him. I was like, I just start going in,
- 17:07Speaker 2: He'll start going in. We just tag teamed it, and
- 17:09Speaker 2: you know, everywhere we went, I was just speaking. Really,
- 17:11Speaker 2: I wasn't even doing it. There was no business to run.
- 17:14Speaker 2: I was just really rolling with him.
- 17:15Speaker 3: So at what point do you realize it's better for
- 17:18Speaker 3: you to take a step back.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll never forget. And everybody probably seen the speech.
- 17:23Speaker 2: It was about two thousand and sixty seven and we
- 17:25Speaker 2: were at the Advantage Program, a program we had started
- 17:27Speaker 2: up on campus, right and we in the room. It
- 17:30Speaker 2: was a regular night, but I don't know what happened.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Somebody pissed E off. He was in a bad mood,
- 17:34Speaker 2: kind of like to be honest with you, and I
- 17:35Speaker 2: was like, Yo, what's going on? And he was like, man,
- 17:37Speaker 2: these kids ain't taking nothing serious, Like, you know, they
- 17:40Speaker 2: got an opportunity at Michigan State. I'm about to go off.
- 17:42Speaker 2: So I was like okay, cool now. Just so happened
- 17:45Speaker 2: to be that a guy we knew who we were
- 17:47Speaker 2: cool with was doing his thesis and he was like, Yo,
- 17:50Speaker 2: can I come record you all the night?
- 17:51Speaker 4: And I was like absolutely. He was like, I'm gonna
- 17:53Speaker 4: mike you up.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And back then everybody was miked up like you usually
- 17:56Speaker 2: you just had the camera be terrible audio ever.
- 17:58Speaker 7: Talking about cameras back then six grand right what I'm
- 18:01Speaker 7: saying today right brand for that co.
- 18:04Speaker 2: So we had videoed a few things before, but it
- 18:06Speaker 2: was always terrible audio quality. You couldn't really hear it. Well,
- 18:08Speaker 2: this night he miked it up just like the the
- 18:11Speaker 2: lapels we got on.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:13Speaker 2: So we sitting in the room, I'm like, all right,
- 18:14Speaker 2: he about to go off now, mind you he been
- 18:16Speaker 2: going off forever. Like the reason I was rolling with
- 18:19Speaker 2: him is because I never seen nothing like it. Like
- 18:20Speaker 2: imagine we'll go to like a university or wherever, a
- 18:24Speaker 2: high school and kids to just be sitting there crying,
- 18:26Speaker 2: Like I'm like, yo, this is the most amazing thing
- 18:28Speaker 2: I seen. But this particular night, we were sitting in
- 18:30Speaker 2: there and he was going off, and he was like, when.
- 18:33Speaker 3: You want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Then you'll be successful. And everybody knows that video now.
- 18:39Speaker 2: It is one of the most famous motivational speeches of
- 18:41Speaker 2: all times. And I say, yo, that was cool, right,
- 18:43Speaker 2: And then this was on a Tuesday night. I was
- 18:45Speaker 2: so inspired, y'all. I was like, Yo, it's the best
- 18:47Speaker 2: thing I ever heard. I literally have the best motivational
- 18:50Speaker 2: speaker in the world. I called a local middle school
- 18:52Speaker 2: the next day and I was like, yo, I got
- 18:54Speaker 2: this dude. His name is Eric Thomas. I'm telling you
- 18:57Speaker 2: he's crazy. Like, Yo, we want to come up there
- 18:59Speaker 2: and do some work cause he told me we needed
- 19:01Speaker 2: to get reps and he was like, don't even worry
- 19:02Speaker 2: about the bread. I was like, look, we don't need
- 19:03Speaker 2: no money, which you wanna come up there? And they
- 19:05Speaker 2: was like what's his name? I was like Eric Thomas.
- 19:08Speaker 2: They was like, okay, we'll call you back. They ain't
- 19:11Speaker 2: called me back. Next day, I called him up, like, Yo,
- 19:13Speaker 2: we wanna come up and do this work. I was like,
- 19:16Speaker 2: what's his name again? I said Eric Thomas. It was like, sorry,
- 19:20Speaker 2: we we don't. Yeah, we don't. We don't. We don't
- 19:22Speaker 2: really need that m And I remember thinking to myself. Yo,
- 19:25Speaker 2: I just heard the greatest motivational speech in the world,
- 19:28Speaker 2: and yet nobody cares. And I when I realized nobody cares,
- 19:31Speaker 2: I said, Okay, that's your lane. Now your job is
- 19:33Speaker 2: to make people care. And so from that day for
- 19:36Speaker 2: I called a meeting. I put Pulled E in the room,
- 19:38Speaker 2: pulled Carl, our media director in the room. I said, look,
- 19:40Speaker 2: I'm not speaking no more. This is no longer the
- 19:42Speaker 2: Jackson five were going straight Michael Jackson, I said, cause
- 19:46Speaker 2: we were going under the name Break the Cycle when
- 19:48Speaker 2: I was the crew. Well, you know, we had a
- 19:51Speaker 2: little here like with Bell Vivi Devot something like that.
- 19:55Speaker 2: So I but I said, look, I said, lose Break
- 19:58Speaker 2: the Cycle. I said, said, nobody knows who Break the
- 20:01Speaker 2: Cycle is, right, Like it's a company. I said, Carl,
- 20:03Speaker 2: don't edit my stuff no more. I'm no longer speaking.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I literally like stepped behind the scenes and was like, yo,
- 20:09Speaker 2: everything we do. So there was this new thing that
- 20:12Speaker 2: came out called YouTube, and I told my boy, I
- 20:15Speaker 2: was like, hey, figure out if you can figure out
- 20:16Speaker 2: how to build this channel, and he was like, Karl
- 20:19Speaker 2: could do everything. So he got on there and this
- 20:21Speaker 2: was like early people was just putting like cat videos
- 20:23Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 20:23Speaker 7: This was FaceTime. You had to have a college on
- 20:26Speaker 7: Facebook the same time.
- 20:32Speaker 4: College I need to get on.
- 20:34Speaker 2: So I told him, I said, hey, see if you
- 20:36Speaker 2: can get it up there, and of course he got
- 20:38Speaker 2: one of the most common names in the world, Eric
- 20:40Speaker 2: Thomas or Eric Thomas was actually taking So I was like, Man,
- 20:43Speaker 2: I was sitting there. I was like, yo, et Et Motivator,
- 20:47Speaker 2: ET Speaker, e T. And then he had just did
- 20:50Speaker 2: a sermon I remember the day before he did a
- 20:53Speaker 2: few days before he did t I you can.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Have whatever you like.
- 20:56Speaker 2: But he remixed it for like if you have Christ,
- 20:58Speaker 2: you can have whatever you like, and was like, yo,
- 21:01Speaker 2: my man is like a hip hop preacher. So then
- 21:03Speaker 2: I sat there and I was like, yo, Carl, check
- 21:04Speaker 2: the availability of Et the hip Hop Preacher. So he
- 21:07Speaker 2: was like, yeah, it's available, and so I was like bet.
- 21:10Speaker 2: And so from that moment on, I was like, Yo,
- 21:12Speaker 2: I'm out of here. Everything we do needs to be et.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Every timas Et the hip Hop Preacher. We only pushing him.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Everything we focused on from that moment forward was he.
- 21:21Speaker 2: And that's why I don't talk. Yeah, And it was
- 21:22Speaker 2: ignorance business ignorance. So me growing up, Martin Luther King
- 21:27Speaker 2: wasn't on no bit. I mean just think if he
- 21:29Speaker 2: was a businessman, what Martin Luther King would have made.
- 21:32Speaker 2: But he wasn't a businessman. You think about x X
- 21:34Speaker 2: wasn't no businessman. He didn't even owned his own crib.
- 21:37Speaker 2: So I'm growing up following them.
- 21:39Speaker 7: All their about is the community and the people like
- 21:42Speaker 7: they not own how much bread they gonna make. Martin
- 21:45Speaker 7: Uther King had a PhD at twenty six. He was
- 21:47Speaker 7: a faster getting a Tizon ofference. He didn't have no
- 21:51Speaker 7: business mind, Like I'm even thinking like, yo, if people
- 21:53Speaker 7: had had a business mind, where Martin would have been financially.
- 21:57Speaker 7: So for me, it hit me like, okay, see you
- 22:00Speaker 7: right in my ignorance, I want to help everybody, but
- 22:04Speaker 7: it's gonna it takes money to fight a war, bro
- 22:06Speaker 7: like flat out, it takes bread. Right, So I was like,
- 22:09Speaker 7: see you right. Let me just focus now on and
- 22:12Speaker 7: put my energy on growing me as a brand, meaning
- 22:17Speaker 7: let me go get this PhD. Now that was a
- 22:21Speaker 7: business move because I was like, yo, if we're gonna
- 22:23Speaker 7: make money, I can't go to our churches to make money,
- 22:27Speaker 7: Like that's what I was relying on before our churches,
- 22:30Speaker 7: our what is it like, you know, schools like elementary
- 22:35Speaker 7: middle I was like, bro, the bread is in corporate,
- 22:38Speaker 7: but like, you can't get corporate dollars.
- 22:41Speaker 4: On preaching what you're preaching.
- 22:43Speaker 7: So I literally went to college and got my master's
- 22:45Speaker 7: degree and then my PhD in Michigan State because I
- 22:48Speaker 7: was like, yo, I need to learn the rules.
- 22:50Speaker 4: I need to learn the language.
- 22:52Speaker 7: I need to learn the codes, like for real, Like
- 22:55Speaker 7: I can't compete with these boys if I don't. And
- 22:57Speaker 7: then I realized as I was studying, I was like,
- 23:00Speaker 7: be real, the reality is the blueprint. They like, if
- 23:03Speaker 7: you go to school and you start reading books, the
- 23:05Speaker 7: blueprint is there. So I was like, yo, I can
- 23:08Speaker 7: learn what they're doing and I can go in corporate
- 23:11Speaker 7: and do this.
- 23:11Speaker 3: And the advantage that I got is I got sold.
- 23:14Speaker 7: Like flat out, like you can't get you can't study this,
- 23:17Speaker 7: you can't go to school and learn this like this
- 23:20Speaker 7: passion I got it ain't no academy and it ain't
- 23:23Speaker 7: nobody that's gonna be able to compete with me because
- 23:26Speaker 7: I'll know the business side. But I also got that
- 23:28Speaker 7: spirit of king in me. I got that spirit of
- 23:30Speaker 7: Mouthcolm in me.
- 23:31Speaker 3: I got that.
- 23:32Speaker 7: Spirit of guard v in me, and they ain't got that,
- 23:34Speaker 7: so they're not gonna be able to compete. So see
- 23:36Speaker 7: was the one that came and was like, E, all
- 23:38Speaker 7: of that spiritual stuff is good, that character development stuff
- 23:41Speaker 7: is good. But if we're gonna own our own, if
- 23:44Speaker 7: we're gonna be able to decide what we're doing when
- 23:47Speaker 7: we're doing, don't nobody own us. We gotta go business.
- 23:50Speaker 7: So let me just straight. I thought him in the
- 23:52Speaker 7: beginning because I didn't understand them. I wanted them to
- 23:55Speaker 7: still talk like.
- 23:56Speaker 2: He wanted to be rocking side by side, cause that's
- 24:00Speaker 2: all that's what I knew going to an HBCU like
- 24:03Speaker 2: it wasn't just a speaker, it was we was we
- 24:05Speaker 2: on the road, were traveling, we go on the restaurants,
- 24:08Speaker 2: were eating, and so I'm like, yof C become business,
- 24:11Speaker 2: that's gonna separate us.
- 24:12Speaker 7: It is what it is, bro, you start doing business.
- 24:15Speaker 7: I mean he gonna have to go to these meeting.
- 24:16Speaker 7: I'm gonna have to go speak on my own. And
- 24:19Speaker 7: quiet has kept since he became a businessman.
- 24:21Speaker 3: You left Win two thousand and nine.
- 24:24Speaker 7: Brouh it's twenty twenty two. We ain't been in the
- 24:26Speaker 7: same city since we made this move. So it was
- 24:30Speaker 7: like I lost and not we like fam but I
- 24:33Speaker 7: lost that time and that I lost that to business.
- 24:37Speaker 7: So in the beginning, I was like, yo, Brown, No,
- 24:40Speaker 7: I rather for us just to do us then change
- 24:42Speaker 7: the world, like I really like, let's.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Just brou we was.
- 24:45Speaker 7: We weren't cut Like we was walking to the grocery
- 24:47Speaker 7: store every day by lunch meat, coming back making sandwiches.
- 24:51Speaker 7: We was going to church together on the weekend, you
- 24:53Speaker 7: know what I'm saying, Like I was at his parents'
- 24:54Speaker 7: crib eating on Sunday, like it was a brotherhood. And
- 24:58Speaker 7: so for me it was like, bro, I don't know,
- 25:00Speaker 7: like I brother keep this then changed.
- 25:02Speaker 2: The world funny with shall you asked what was my title?
- 25:05Speaker 2: And I said President And I always laughed tongue in cheek.
- 25:08Speaker 2: But we had went somewhere, we did a big conference
- 25:10Speaker 2: or something, and he was like, yo, I got He
- 25:13Speaker 2: invited everybody to his hotel rooms at the Embassy suites, right,
- 25:16Speaker 2: and he had like the big suite and the Embassy suites,
- 25:19Speaker 2: and I remember I was like, yo, what is he doing?
- 25:21Speaker 2: He was like he was like, yeah, just be down there,
- 25:24Speaker 2: like I gotta you know what I'm saying, tell you something.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I was like, all right, bet So I came down there.
- 25:28Speaker 2: It was in the little front room of the embassy suites.
- 25:30Speaker 2: I sat down and he was like, man, it was
- 25:32Speaker 2: like a bunch of people in there, some of his
- 25:34Speaker 2: homies from back in the day and stuff. And he
- 25:36Speaker 2: was like, man, just want to let you know, Bruh,
- 25:38Speaker 2: like I'm naming you the president today.
- 25:42Speaker 3: And I was like, the president of what. Bro.
- 25:47Speaker 9: We ain't even had no coming, We had no llccene,
- 25:49Speaker 9: we ain't had nothing.
- 25:50Speaker 3: He was just like this idea y'all was bro.
- 25:53Speaker 9: But look, you know, I'm young. I'm young, right, I don't.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Know no better.
- 25:56Speaker 2: He gave me an old breakthorcycle shirt. I was like,
- 25:59Speaker 2: am I supposed to put it?
- 26:00Speaker 4: Like?
- 26:00Speaker 2: I didn't even know? But to his point, you know,
- 26:03Speaker 2: he wanted us to roll like that forever. But what
- 26:06Speaker 2: I understood, Bruh is one like I was like, Okay,
- 26:09Speaker 2: I start looking at going I'm seeing people that he
- 26:12Speaker 2: is better than who making Bruh. I just I wouldn't
- 26:16Speaker 2: looked up, Okay, Tony Robbins network, what I'm like, no,
- 26:20Speaker 2: I'm looking up these other speakers. I'm like, yo, he
- 26:22Speaker 2: is better than them. And then once I understood, oh,
- 26:24Speaker 2: nobody cares. If nobody cares, you know what I'm saying,
- 26:27Speaker 2: Like people always ask me, like why I'm so big
- 26:29Speaker 2: on branding and Nikki we talk about it all the time.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Listen nobody if your brand is sweet, nobody care.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Like I love it.
- 26:36Speaker 2: People were like, oh, Rihanna can't sing. Okay, Rihanna can't
- 26:39Speaker 2: sing as good as cool. It's probably I'm not no joke.
- 26:41Speaker 2: We in Atlanta, it's probably a million young ladies who
- 26:43Speaker 2: can out sing Rihanna And I don't even know if
- 26:45Speaker 2: she knew a whole lot of dancing. Her brand though,
- 26:49Speaker 2: like that's that's what makes her real. I love Rihanna,
- 26:51Speaker 2: but it's her brand that makes her her and people
- 26:53Speaker 2: care about her. So I was like, Yo, talent alone
- 26:55Speaker 2: ain't gonna do it. He so we as sweet as
- 26:57Speaker 2: we are, we're gonna be talking to elementary school kids
- 27:00Speaker 2: and middle school kids for the rest of our lives,
- 27:02Speaker 2: which that's still important and we still do, but we're
- 27:04Speaker 2: gonna do that for the rest of our lives and
- 27:05Speaker 2: be broken. I start looking at all of these people
- 27:07Speaker 2: who was making money, and I was like, I'm not
- 27:09Speaker 2: doing that.
- 27:09Speaker 3: We're not doing the we Black so were good.
- 27:11Speaker 2: With just making fifty sixty thousand at a time, and
- 27:13Speaker 2: so he was like, Yo, we quitting our jobs and
- 27:16Speaker 2: we're getting after this thing.
- 27:17Speaker 3: So how does this scale?
- 27:18Speaker 8: Everyone has an opinion when it comes to the foods
- 27:20Speaker 8: we eat. This food's good for you, this one's bad
- 27:23Speaker 8: for you, this diet works best. But who actually has
- 27:26Speaker 8: the right answer. You don't need rules to lose weight,
- 27:28Speaker 8: You just need proper information to build smarter, more sustainable habits.
- 27:32Speaker 8: NEOM is here to change the way we view food
- 27:34Speaker 8: by not only looking at what we eat, but also
- 27:37Speaker 8: how we eat. Instead of making you feel guilt, NOOM
- 27:40Speaker 8: empowers you to keep going. Not everyone wants to be
- 27:43Speaker 8: on a strict diet, do five days a week at
- 27:45Speaker 8: the gym, or have daily smoothies and crushable teas. NOOM
- 27:49Speaker 8: uses a psychology based approach to find healthier balances that's
- 27:52Speaker 8: more suitable for your life and as a result, more sustainable.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Look.
- 27:56Speaker 8: Nooma's already influenced the way I shot for food, which
- 27:58Speaker 8: is not only saving me money, it's also given me

- 28:47Speaker 2: It's funny because he mixed tapes, he can say what
- 28:51Speaker 2: he wants.
- 28:51Speaker 3: He created it.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so yeah, No, I'm brilliant. I don't like
- 28:56Speaker 2: the brag on a lot of stuff, but brill I've
- 28:57Speaker 2: been in that love I was the first one doing
- 28:59Speaker 2: that show.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly that. Hey that was me, y'all go back, Hey,
- 29:06Speaker 3: that was.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Me, and I came up with it because well, first
- 29:09Speaker 2: of all, I don't want to skip ahead. But in
- 29:11Speaker 2: two thousand and nine, when I got my masters degree,
- 29:13Speaker 2: I ended up being his graduate assistant. And then I
- 29:15Speaker 2: got my master's degree, and he was like, yo, we quitn't.
- 29:18Speaker 2: And I was like, where are we going? He was like,
- 29:20Speaker 2: it don't matter. It's like we can't. Yeah, we can't write.
- 29:23Speaker 2: And at that time, again you got to think two
- 29:25Speaker 2: thousand and nine, you two ain't booming like it is now,
- 29:27Speaker 2: so you know what I'm saying. So he was like, yo,
- 29:30Speaker 2: we quitn't. And then so we ended up leaving our
- 29:32Speaker 2: jobs at Michigan State. We put in our two week
- 29:34Speaker 2: notice and we left. My wife got a job offer
- 29:36Speaker 2: with General Electric. So he mentioned why I had to leave.
- 29:39Speaker 2: I ain't had no money, and so my wife I
- 29:41Speaker 2: told I. I was like, look, my wife got a
- 29:43Speaker 2: corporate position. She making decent bread. I don't got to
- 29:46Speaker 2: do nothing. She gonna hold us down while we figured
- 29:48Speaker 2: this thing out. But bro, as much as I love you,
- 29:50Speaker 2: I'm going with my wife. Do you know what I'm saying? Like,
- 29:52Speaker 2: I'm gonna go on the road. So I went on
- 29:53Speaker 2: the road and.
- 29:54Speaker 7: She would have stayed had he convinced that we need
- 29:57Speaker 7: to stay. But he was like, I got to take
- 29:59Speaker 7: care of the business, so I'm willing to. And y'all
- 30:01Speaker 7: got to understand this because he not a two man like.
- 30:04Speaker 3: He ain't no two man like.
- 30:06Speaker 4: He would have got drafted one in his class.
- 30:10Speaker 8: That's the part I'm thinking when I'm hearing it, I'm like,
- 30:12Speaker 8: what point does ego creep.
- 30:13Speaker 3: In or does it not?
- 30:14Speaker 2: You know what's so funny though, And I promise you
- 30:17Speaker 2: I mean in disrespect to either of these brothers. All
- 30:20Speaker 2: love because we learned so much. But early on E
- 30:23Speaker 2: and I used to religiously study Jay and Dan and
- 30:26Speaker 2: I was like, yo, they explained. I used to tell E, Yo,
- 30:29Speaker 2: explain to me how when you have nothing, y'all is
- 30:34Speaker 2: best of friends, right, like inseparable, And all of a
- 30:37Speaker 2: sudden you got fifteen multi million dollar companies booming, and
- 30:42Speaker 2: y'all don't talk anymore. Like again, no, I don't mean
- 30:45Speaker 2: to be in their business. I don't know what happened.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Like some people are like, oh, Dann wanted to be
- 30:49Speaker 2: in the videos. Maybe he had the right to be
- 30:51Speaker 2: in the videos. I don't know what happened. But I
- 30:53Speaker 2: do know that once success came in, they didn't talk anymore.
- 30:57Speaker 2: And I'm like, yo, it seemed like it should be
- 30:59Speaker 2: the other way around. I was like, yo, I'm irritated
- 31:01Speaker 2: when I'm broke, like money ain't coming in, I'm stressed.
- 31:02Speaker 3: I'm ready put my eye.
- 31:04Speaker 2: But like we studied them too, literally religious and and
- 31:07Speaker 2: we literally would go back and forth like, yo, why
- 31:10Speaker 2: is it that they don't talk anymore? Like they built
- 31:12Speaker 2: everything they could imagine as partners and then they fell out.
- 31:15Speaker 2: And so with me, the ego thing is I tell
- 31:18Speaker 2: people all the time, I love it people come up
- 31:20Speaker 2: to me like you're such a good human. Your ET's right,
- 31:22Speaker 2: hen man, I said, don't get it twisted. I'm balling too,
- 31:24Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like, no, it was the
- 31:26Speaker 2: best decision for us. Does that make sense? Like I'm
- 31:29Speaker 2: not that great a human where I'm just gonna sit
- 31:31Speaker 2: back and be gandhi like I'm at the career broke
- 31:33Speaker 2: Like no, no, no, I got nice stuff too. You
- 31:34Speaker 2: see what I'm saying. That was the best decision for us.
- 31:37Speaker 2: So the ego part was this is my brother for real.
- 31:40Speaker 2: And then the other thing I tell people all the time, people,
- 31:42Speaker 2: I need to find my CJ. Like again, like you're
- 31:45Speaker 2: trying to find the right hand and I say all
- 31:46Speaker 2: the time. First of all, you're not et so they'll
- 31:49Speaker 2: go your first problems. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 31:50Speaker 2: don't just act like I hear. I wasn't doing this
- 31:52Speaker 2: for nobody else, but understand something. I looked at it
- 31:55Speaker 2: and argue you two quick things. One, I understood that
- 31:59Speaker 2: he is of a different calibre as a human and
- 32:02Speaker 2: I want y'all to know that. And that's why he
- 32:03Speaker 2: asked me to come on this podcast with him. And
- 32:06Speaker 2: I was like, I agree to it because y'all need
- 32:08Speaker 2: to know the truth. We're not dealing with a regular dude.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Like I hope y'all know that, and I'll give So
- 32:13Speaker 2: this is when the ego died. We in Harlem, and
- 32:17Speaker 2: we at this church and this is pre Et, the
- 32:20Speaker 2: hip hop preacher. Nobody knows who he is. This is
- 32:22Speaker 2: the true story. This is the day. I was like,
- 32:24Speaker 2: I'm just gonna be his right hand man forever. We
- 32:27Speaker 2: out in Harlem, shout out, Alex. You know how that Harlem.
- 32:29Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Whether or not, ain't from Harlem.
- 32:31Speaker 2: But New York, you know, is still a part of y'all.
- 32:36Speaker 2: New York part of y'all.
- 32:38Speaker 3: You know what.
- 32:42Speaker 2: But you know that in that New York energy, right
- 32:44Speaker 2: the sid I'll be honest, this might have been my
- 32:46Speaker 2: second time in New York in my life. So I'm
- 32:48Speaker 2: just fascinated, you know what I'm saying. I'm from Lanston, Michigan. Bro,
- 32:50Speaker 2: we don't have nothing like that, you know what I'm saying.
- 32:52Speaker 2: And so we out in Harlem, right, and we are
- 32:55Speaker 2: in this church and he's preaching that week. So we
- 32:58Speaker 2: used to do a whole week. It'd be like fit
- 33:00Speaker 2: teen hundred dollars for the whole week. And we out
- 33:02Speaker 2: there and you know, the food trucks is booming, the
- 33:05Speaker 2: subway booming, people hopping off the train and all of that.
- 33:08Speaker 2: And we're sitting on the stoop of the church and
- 33:11Speaker 2: just just talking nothing crazy. All of a sudden, this dude,
- 33:15Speaker 2: I kid, y'all, not about six five muscle dude, dreads
- 33:20Speaker 2: gold see the whole nine. My man is coming down
- 33:22Speaker 2: the sidewalk, and my man's on the phone and he
- 33:25Speaker 2: was cussing somebody out, like.
- 33:27Speaker 9: You mother, I'll kill you. I'm talking about like causing
- 33:30Speaker 9: the scene.
- 33:30Speaker 2: It was like it was like New York style brou
- 33:34Speaker 2: o haul right right right right, Hey, we we on
- 33:38Speaker 2: linux ad so me Carl and now Carl about this
- 33:42Speaker 2: big and I'm we on the stoop and I look
- 33:46Speaker 2: and I'm like, okay, my man, he's coming this way
- 33:49Speaker 2: so he might be like at the wall and me
- 33:51Speaker 2: and Carl backed up about four five steps. He's standing
- 33:54Speaker 2: in the middle of the sidewalk like this and turns
- 33:56Speaker 2: and face towards my men, and I said, yeah, yeah,
- 34:03Speaker 2: my man is literally like the smith is cracking under
- 34:07Speaker 2: his feet. And he was like he turned and looked
- 34:09Speaker 2: and was like and I'm like, yo, I'm tapping Carl
- 34:11Speaker 2: like dog, do you see this? My man don't even
- 34:13Speaker 2: see E yet. So he walking up and he gets
- 34:16Speaker 2: probably two feet from Eve, and now he started looked
- 34:18Speaker 2: up and like notice and of course he got the
- 34:22Speaker 2: moug like ah, I'll kill you. So I'm like in
- 34:24Speaker 2: my head, I'm like I'm gonna have to just jump
- 34:26Speaker 2: off this joint and just beare hub my man something
- 34:29Speaker 2: like he about to kill E and E. My man
- 34:32Speaker 2: had his phone like this and looked at Ian was
- 34:34Speaker 2: about to like start cutting out, and he grabbed his
- 34:36Speaker 2: wrist and was like, yo, put the phone down, bro.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Everybody I'm talking about it was like a movie. Everybody
- 34:42Speaker 2: just stopped and looked and he was like my man
- 34:45Speaker 2: was like what and he grabbed his other wrist, both
- 34:48Speaker 2: of them, and said, put the phone down. And my
- 34:50Speaker 2: man put his arms down to his side like this,
- 34:52Speaker 2: and he grabbed my man and start praying, just out
- 34:55Speaker 2: of nowhere, just start praying.
- 34:57Speaker 3: My man fell to his knees, snap tears.
- 35:00Speaker 9: Coming out of his eyes.
- 35:02Speaker 3: He stood up.
- 35:03Speaker 2: He hugged him for about thirty seconds and was like,
- 35:06Speaker 2: go in peace, and my man walked off just boo who.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Crying, and everybody out there was like.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Yo.
- 35:13Speaker 2: He was like yo, y'all ready. I was like, hold on, man,
- 35:15Speaker 2: you're not gonna have like this just happened at that.
- 35:19Speaker 2: But you see what I'm saying, like, bro, ain't no ego, Bro,
- 35:21Speaker 2: Like I told you long ago, if this was about speaking,
- 35:24Speaker 2: I had been speaking since I was a kid, I
- 35:25Speaker 2: would have just been like, you know, when it's time
- 35:27Speaker 2: to break off, like you know, we had our run
- 35:29Speaker 2: and it's like okay, Jordan go that way, Pippen, go
- 35:31Speaker 2: that way. Everybody do their own thing. But I was like,
- 35:34Speaker 2: this has nothing. I met somebody who I was like, Yo,
- 35:37Speaker 2: this man literally the world needs to know who he is,
- 35:40Speaker 2: like not me, you know what I'm saying, the world
- 35:42Speaker 2: really needs to know we And then, Bro, I can't
- 35:44Speaker 2: tell you since then people chemote therapy, you know what
- 35:46Speaker 2: I'm saying. We were in Australia, Bro, this lady came.
- 35:49Speaker 2: We had an event in Australia and you know, we
- 35:51Speaker 2: got a demo and it's not an eighty year old
- 35:54Speaker 2: white lady.
- 35:54Speaker 3: And she came to the VIP and she was like.
- 35:57Speaker 3: I was like, I.
- 35:58Speaker 4: Looked at her.
- 35:58Speaker 2: You know, y'all have events when you see people who
- 36:00Speaker 2: look a little like, you know, sticking out a little bit.
- 36:02Speaker 3: I went up to her.
- 36:03Speaker 4: I was like, how you doing.
- 36:04Speaker 2: She was like, yeah, I'm here for the VIP event
- 36:06Speaker 2: and I was like, how do you know T And
- 36:09Speaker 2: she was like, well, my students play rugby and I
- 36:12Speaker 2: was in I had cancer and I was going through
- 36:14Speaker 2: chemotherapy and every day they would send me one of
- 36:16Speaker 2: his videos. And she was like, and I beat cancer
- 36:19Speaker 2: because of him. And she was like I've never seen
- 36:20Speaker 2: anything but the videos they sent And so Bru when
- 36:23Speaker 2: you're talking about DA we're not talking about music, We're
- 36:26Speaker 2: not talking about entertainment. We're talking about literally matters of
- 36:29Speaker 2: the heart and him changing this world. I was like, bro,
- 36:31Speaker 2: I don't need no shine, I don't need no eating.
- 36:33Speaker 2: I do need some paper. I do need that because
- 36:36Speaker 2: my wife ain't trying to hear Eat changing the world.
- 36:39Speaker 3: So I do need some paper. So I get to
- 36:41Speaker 3: the bread with you.
- 36:41Speaker 2: But bruh, I will do whatever I can to make
- 36:44Speaker 2: sure the world knows who he is.
- 36:45Speaker 3: But let's get back to this mactape situation. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 36:48Speaker 3: what's the deal with that? Yeah?
- 36:50Speaker 2: So you know, it's crazy because a lot of people
- 36:53Speaker 2: start hitting me up like yo, I love et stuff
- 36:55Speaker 2: like I want to I listen to it when I
- 36:57Speaker 2: work out. And I was like, man, I listen to
- 37:00Speaker 2: all the time too. But I'm like I would always
- 37:02Speaker 2: take like I would have make a playlist and have
- 37:04Speaker 2: like E and then like fifty and then E and
- 37:07Speaker 2: then hole and then and then And I was like, man,
- 37:10Speaker 2: I was like, what if I kind of blended those
- 37:12Speaker 2: two worlds together with the music and the motivation, you know,
- 37:16Speaker 2: at the same time. And this was like these kids
- 37:19Speaker 2: today don't know nothing about it. We actually had it
- 37:22Speaker 2: good back in the day. I don't know if y'all remember,
- 37:23Speaker 2: but like you could just go on and make your
- 37:26Speaker 2: stuff like and put it out and it didn't have
- 37:28Speaker 2: like I had whole I might have had dddy on
- 37:30Speaker 2: there like everything you can say, yeah one no sample,
- 37:34Speaker 2: clean one, no nothing. You could just I had little
- 37:36Speaker 2: Wayne on there like Kobe like whatever. And it was
- 37:39Speaker 2: like the wild wild West back then. And so I
- 37:41Speaker 2: put it out and bro like what we crashed the
- 37:44Speaker 2: site and like, and I talked to him. I was like,
- 37:46Speaker 2: it's gonna be a lot of downloads whatever. I think
- 37:49Speaker 2: we had like forty thousand downloads like in like an
- 37:52Speaker 2: hour long span. And it was like I could see
- 37:55Speaker 2: the countries, like we were looking at the analytics and
- 37:57Speaker 2: I could see like different countries, And that was the
- 37:59Speaker 2: moment I knew. I was like, oh, this thing is
- 38:02Speaker 2: like getting.
- 38:03Speaker 7: Bigre But from a business standpoint, that's when it shifted.
- 38:07Speaker 7: So you could literally look at our algorithm and see
- 38:10Speaker 7: that now our biggest followers were white males between the
- 38:13Speaker 7: age of twenty two analytics yeah, and they were direct sales.
- 38:18Speaker 7: So now that's who listening to it. So they just
- 38:22Speaker 7: little Ray Ray you know, on the block and listened
- 38:25Speaker 7: to it. Now dudes and like banking dudes selling solar
- 38:31Speaker 7: like they coming in in the morning and they listening
- 38:34Speaker 7: to it and ready to run through a wall. So
- 38:36Speaker 7: now all of a sudden, the CEOs are starting to call.
- 38:41Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying, like, Yo, can we get
- 38:43Speaker 7: you to come and speak? They listen to you. We
- 38:45Speaker 7: want you to.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Come live now analytics.
- 38:49Speaker 7: You know, because a lot of people like you speak
- 38:50Speaker 7: for Alabama football, you speak for Michigan football, you know,
- 38:53Speaker 7: all the LSU all, but all the big program. It
- 38:56Speaker 7: wasn't the coaches. It was a strength and conditioning coaches
- 38:59Speaker 7: that was saying that. And now they, ah, they like,
- 39:02Speaker 7: we gotta get him in here because you feel what
- 39:04Speaker 7: I'm saying. So with that mixtape, it really created the
- 39:08Speaker 7: pathway for the bread, for the money for corporate. And
- 39:12Speaker 7: then once I started doing corporate, you know what it is,
- 39:14Speaker 7: I was blessed in Detroit. Dan Gilbel was taking over Detroit.
- 39:17Speaker 7: So when he talked about when everybody like, hey, you
- 39:20Speaker 7: know who who the people buying up all? I knew
- 39:22Speaker 7: him personally. So now Dann like yo, e, you know,
- 39:26Speaker 7: he had meetings, Warren Buffett, et cetera. I'm in those
- 39:29Speaker 7: meetings now. So now the business dude is, I'm like, okay, Like,
- 39:34Speaker 7: i ain't never been in a room with a billionaire before.
- 39:36Speaker 7: I'm listening to billionaire talk. He like, yup, we about
- 39:39Speaker 7: to buy Detroit up. I'm like, what you about to
- 39:41Speaker 7: buy it? Like he was like, yup vulture. I'm like,
- 39:43Speaker 7: what does that mean. It's like, yup, once it's dead boom,
- 39:46Speaker 7: so the best time to buy?
- 39:48Speaker 3: Like I said that, yeah, he was like yo.
- 39:50Speaker 7: It's like he like they was talking about how Detroit
- 39:52Speaker 7: was the recession and they was gonna buy it up
- 39:54Speaker 7: and they bothered up.
- 39:55Speaker 3: So they buying.
- 39:56Speaker 7: They buying Scott Scrapers for five hundred grand. And I'm
- 39:59Speaker 7: wid them put kids in there with these great ideas.
- 40:03Speaker 7: So the kids paying for real estate like to be there,
- 40:06Speaker 7: and they giving them twenty percent or whatever they was
- 40:08Speaker 7: giving them for the idea and then for them investing.
- 40:11Speaker 3: So I'm in the room, I'm in the I'm in.
- 40:13Speaker 7: The elevator by myself with Dan Gilbert and Warren Buffett,
- 40:17Speaker 7: and then like, e I'm not gonna necessarily like cash
- 40:20Speaker 7: you out, but I'm about to expose. My man gave
- 40:22Speaker 7: me an office right across from his office. So I'm like,
- 40:25Speaker 7: I'm at the I'm at the playoffs, Bro, me and
- 40:27Speaker 7: my wife and kid. We right behind Lebron in the finals.
- 40:31Speaker 7: I'm everybody like you with Bron. I'm like, I don't
- 40:34Speaker 7: personally know Bron, but I'm in the back with Dan Gilbert.
- 40:37Speaker 7: It's just me and him, like were just sitting there.
- 40:39Speaker 7: I'm like, what's up Chauncey? Me and Chock like different
- 40:41Speaker 7: player whatever. I'm in the back. He like, Eve, what
- 40:44Speaker 7: you think about this? What you think about that? So
- 40:46Speaker 7: I'm in the room with like, oh, this ain't about okay.
- 40:49Speaker 7: I got to Martin Now. God giving me the He
- 40:51Speaker 7: give me the billionaires. And so I'm watching the games
- 40:54Speaker 7: and I'm seeing the dudes at the games.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Who was in the room.
- 40:57Speaker 7: So now when I go into Louis Gucci find the product,
- 41:01Speaker 7: I know the dude that own them all Earns.

- 41:55Speaker 8: find the candidates you want to talk to faster. Did
- 41:58Speaker 8: you know every week, nearly forty million jobs seekers visit

- 42:05Speaker 8: slash eyl that's LinkedIn dot com slash eyl to post
- 42:09Speaker 8: your job for free, Terms and conditions apply.
- 42:12Speaker 4: So it's a whole different.
- 42:13Speaker 7: My mindset changed, not like WHOA at first, I'm not
- 42:17Speaker 7: gonna lie I was geeked to be in the room
- 42:19Speaker 7: because just to be in the room. But then God
- 42:22Speaker 7: So was like, yo, you think I brought you in
- 42:23Speaker 7: this room with billionaires not to be one.
- 42:26Speaker 4: So see was doing this thing.
- 42:27Speaker 7: But then I looked up with C was like, all right, see,
- 42:30Speaker 7: I see what you've been on because I'm gonna be real.
- 42:32Speaker 7: I wasn't on that at first, so he was by himself,
- 42:35Speaker 7: if you will doing the work. Then I found out
- 42:38Speaker 7: and I was like, yo, see let's get this bread bro.
- 42:41Speaker 7: Why because now I'm taking twenty kids to the super
- 42:44Speaker 7: Bowl with me. Now I'm I'm flying them to putting
- 42:48Speaker 7: them on a limo, flying them to San Diego, putting
- 42:51Speaker 7: them at the harbor, taking them to the restaurant, then
- 42:53Speaker 7: busting them to LA for the super Bowl Expaen, then
- 42:56Speaker 7: bringing them back, putting them in the air and b
- 42:58Speaker 7: then taking them back to the super Bowl. See three
- 43:00Speaker 7: hollering at they geek. Then I'm taking them to the
- 43:02Speaker 7: super Bowl. So I just spend one hundred and twenty
- 43:04Speaker 7: grand to take the kids. So I'm like, I gotta
- 43:06Speaker 7: be a billionaire. I'm putting kids through college, I'm buying computers,
- 43:10Speaker 7: I'm sending kids study abroad. So now when I'm hooking
- 43:13Speaker 7: up with c then they go to mal then it's
- 43:15Speaker 7: with Alex. Alex like you need to do I'm like,
- 43:18Speaker 7: all right, y'all telling me what to do cause I
- 43:19Speaker 7: need to get to this bill because honest moment, honest moment,
- 43:25Speaker 7: I was like, yo, Bill Gates doing more for the
- 43:27Speaker 7: hood than I'm doing. He got a Millennial scholarship, So
- 43:30Speaker 7: any kid from the hood you want to go to college,
- 43:32Speaker 7: He's paying for it. His wife went through Detroit Public
- 43:35Speaker 7: schools and then got that scholarship. So I'm like, yo, hot,
- 43:38Speaker 7: Bill Gates, blessing my people. He ain't never been on
- 43:42Speaker 7: the east side of the Trait. He ain't never been
- 43:44Speaker 7: on the West side of Chicago, Like he ain't been
- 43:45Speaker 7: on the block That's where I'm from. I was like,
- 43:47Speaker 7: you gotta be a billionaire because these dudes get to decide.
- 43:51Speaker 7: Cool that he doing it, But no matter, if you
- 43:53Speaker 7: had a bill, what you could do for your people
- 43:55Speaker 7: to put your people on. So it went from Martin
- 43:57Speaker 7: Luther King to Martin Luther Gates.
- 44:02Speaker 4: It was like, okay, we got to yeah we merged them, Yeah,
- 44:07Speaker 4: we merged it.
- 44:08Speaker 3: So Dan Gilbert, you estab that relationship. Is that the
- 44:10Speaker 3: first big corporate relationship you had?
- 44:13Speaker 8: Because obviously hip hop preachers, so obviously this is a
- 44:15Speaker 8: hip hop side to get here with the next sing
- 44:17Speaker 8: that blew up? But who was like the first corporate
- 44:19Speaker 8: relationship that was like.
- 44:20Speaker 7: Oh wait, Dan Gilbert was the first one who gave
- 44:26Speaker 7: me game free, Like, Yo, you come in this office,
- 44:30Speaker 7: you be wherever you want to be, wherever you want
- 44:32Speaker 7: to be. I don't got to be here. Everybody knew
- 44:34Speaker 7: who I was. I walk in that joint, I walk around.
- 44:37Speaker 7: I can come to any meeting.
- 44:38Speaker 4: Brouh.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Yeah, stuff that we you know, imparted into our company.
- 44:43Speaker 2: He got what he called, I mean.
- 44:45Speaker 7: Nineteen is but it's like ten commandments. It's like the
- 44:49Speaker 7: Bible's ten commandments. He got his nineteen commandments.
- 44:51Speaker 2: This is what every But it was weird though, because
- 44:53Speaker 2: like we would go to an office in Detroit and
- 44:55Speaker 2: then you go to the office in Arizona and everybody
- 44:56Speaker 2: do the exact same thing.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Then remember any of them?
- 44:59Speaker 7: Yeah, all of them them? All my boys. Oh yeah,
- 45:03Speaker 7: you hear me saying that speed is kid. Execution is worship.
- 45:07Speaker 7: Oh yeah, yeah, a bunch of worship. Yeah, execution that
- 45:10Speaker 7: was his thing. He said, ah, man, what was the
- 45:13Speaker 7: first part. The first part was innovation is rewarded, but
- 45:17Speaker 7: execution is worship. So y'all can come up with these
- 45:20Speaker 7: ideas all day, Okay, cool, But the people that can
- 45:23Speaker 7: actually get those ideas and make those things accomplish them.
- 45:27Speaker 4: He like, that's a different level.
- 45:28Speaker 7: I've watched my man fire somebody. If you ain't called
- 45:30Speaker 7: back in twenty four you got fired. He was like, Yo,
- 45:33Speaker 7: what he did that I've never seen before is he
- 45:35Speaker 7: did a conference before he hired you to see if
- 45:39Speaker 7: you believed in what he believed in, and told you
- 45:41Speaker 7: what he believed in, and then once he hired you,
- 45:43Speaker 7: if you didn't do it, he fired you immediately. I
- 45:45Speaker 7: never seen that before. Like most people hire you didn't
- 45:47Speaker 7: tell you what they're about. He told you what he
- 45:49Speaker 7: was about first, and then he hired you. You put me,
- 45:52Speaker 7: I had to sign a contract. Now, this is why
- 45:53Speaker 7: I'm tripping, y'all. Come, you know how it is. I
- 45:55Speaker 7: first got with them. I'm from I'm Blue collarm. My
- 45:57Speaker 7: people literally worked for Ford n GM. You feel me.
- 46:00Speaker 7: I'm in there with these cats right blew my mind
- 46:04Speaker 7: were talking about what was it StockX that was called
- 46:06Speaker 7: what is it called? I'm in the room like they
- 46:09Speaker 7: asking me. I'm in the room before it's an idea
- 46:12Speaker 7: we going. I'm like, okay, look at I'm like. He
- 46:16Speaker 7: was like, Eve, what you think. I'm like, bro, I
- 46:17Speaker 7: ain't gonna lie to you.
- 46:18Speaker 4: Bro. We standing in the line. I don't know if
- 46:19Speaker 4: nobody gonna be going online getting a pair of shoes.
- 46:21Speaker 3: They can't even see.
- 46:23Speaker 4: I mean, this is the conversation.
- 46:24Speaker 7: We haven't his son putting like he letting his son
- 46:27Speaker 7: get involved, his son doing stuff like Bruh, it was
- 46:30Speaker 7: an idea. There's a white boards that they have. I
- 46:33Speaker 7: watched it the first time it got put on the boards.
- 46:36Speaker 7: I'm sitting in the room, they asking me what I think,
- 46:39Speaker 7: and I'm like, bro, I don't even think that's gonna work.
- 46:41Speaker 7: Bru quiet has kept so I can go back to
- 46:43Speaker 7: none of the meetings.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Years later, I'm like, what in the world. Bruh, bruh.
- 46:51Speaker 7: You know? So for me, I'm not mad, but I
- 46:53Speaker 7: got exposed and then from there I was.
- 46:55Speaker 4: Like, yo, you can't play with these ideas. You can't play.
- 46:58Speaker 4: But Bka, I got a out to Beka.
- 47:00Speaker 3: My boy.
- 47:01Speaker 4: He was over a company called verb BKA. Was the
- 47:04Speaker 4: first one who flew me first class. He was the
- 47:07Speaker 4: first one to give me a retainer.
- 47:09Speaker 7: He was the first one to put me in my
- 47:10Speaker 7: family in the hotel where it's the big suite. I'm
- 47:14Speaker 7: over here, my kids over there. He was the first
- 47:16Speaker 7: one to stroke a check. You know what I'm saying.
- 47:18Speaker 7: He was the first one to show me how valuable
- 47:20Speaker 7: I was in network marketing when I didn't even really
- 47:23Speaker 7: know who I was. He used me to attract kids
- 47:26Speaker 7: to come to his events. So he was the first
- 47:28Speaker 7: one to say I'm not only gonna say you sweet,
- 47:31Speaker 7: I'm gonna back it up economically.
- 47:33Speaker 4: He was the first one.
- 47:33Speaker 7: I was like, Yo, I'll give y'all two mel to
- 47:36Speaker 7: do some stuff with y'all for Michigan State and the
- 47:38Speaker 7: students a scholarship in your name. But See was like,
- 47:40Speaker 7: I E, I don't know if we want to See
- 47:43Speaker 7: had the presence of mine in. I don't know if
- 47:44Speaker 7: we want to connect ourselves and nobody else. We want
- 47:47Speaker 7: to stay independent because you're so rare that if we
- 47:50Speaker 7: start clings.
- 47:51Speaker 4: At the time I turned down two mil.
- 47:52Speaker 2: I think my tax returns I made like twenty eight
- 47:55Speaker 2: thirty thousand that year, and they came with two meal
- 47:58Speaker 2: like cash.
- 47:58Speaker 3: And I was like, nah, to be partner.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Just understood the power of independence even back then, and
- 48:03Speaker 2: and by that time, to be honest with you, I
- 48:05Speaker 2: saw the trajectory, you know what I'm saying, Like, I
- 48:07Speaker 2: did see where this thing was going.
- 48:09Speaker 6: So I saw a video on Instagram a while back
- 48:11Speaker 6: then when viral where you was talking about you're the
- 48:14Speaker 6: number one motivation speaker in the world. You can't be
- 48:17Speaker 6: treated differently just because you're black, as far as your
- 48:19Speaker 6: price and things of that nature. So talk about that,
- 48:21Speaker 6: because I feel like the levels to like racism, there's
- 48:27Speaker 6: levels to racism and the obvious level of you know
- 48:30Speaker 6: what we see on the ground, but then there's different
- 48:33Speaker 6: levels where it's like it's not so obvious, right, like yeah,
- 48:37Speaker 6: pay difference or opportunity difference, or like just getting in
- 48:40Speaker 6: there hitting the ceiling with your counterparts.
- 48:44Speaker 3: They don't have a ceiling.
- 48:45Speaker 6: And it's hard to really complain about that cause like
- 48:47Speaker 6: you're still making a lot of money, but it's not
- 48:50Speaker 6: you know what I'm.
- 48:50Speaker 7: Saying, that's the part that we gotta deal with, cause
- 48:54Speaker 7: that's why I wasn't asking for more. I kind of
- 48:56Speaker 7: felt like, yo, E bruh, you making thirty thous a pop.
- 49:01Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, Like, come on, your mom,
- 49:03Speaker 4: ain't never see that kind of bread. You got five kids,
- 49:05Speaker 4: you got a hundred fifty grand?
- 49:06Speaker 3: Bruh, what you're tripping about?
- 49:08Speaker 7: Then I got up to fifty, I was like fifty
- 49:11Speaker 7: a pop, like bro, and you know the volume of
- 49:14Speaker 7: work I'm doing. So I kind of felt like, E,
- 49:17Speaker 7: keep your mouth shut, like this hain't where you want
- 49:19Speaker 7: to just be tripping about because you're making good money whatever.
- 49:23Speaker 7: And I did get to that point where I was like, yo,
- 49:27Speaker 7: equality is equality, and E every time you go somewhere,
- 49:31Speaker 7: people are not only talking about how good the message was,
- 49:34Speaker 7: but how you care and like you ain't just about
- 49:37Speaker 7: the bread.
- 49:38Speaker 4: And it was just like, I'm gonna be real. I
- 49:40Speaker 4: don't know who she was.
- 49:41Speaker 7: It was some chick that called us during the recession,
- 49:45Speaker 7: and she's like, Yo, I'm not trying to be funny,
- 49:47Speaker 7: but I need to tell you I'm in this industry,
- 49:50Speaker 7: like I booked speakers, like I do this. I've been
- 49:53Speaker 7: with a bureau forever. You the highest ranking in charging
- 49:56Speaker 7: the least. She's like Yo, you need to stand up
- 49:59Speaker 7: for yourself.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Twitch she charged in.
- 50:00Speaker 10: Like fifty at the time or speech, and speech was
- 50:03Speaker 10: like twenty twenty four, yeah, twenty twenty one, twenty twenty one,
- 50:07Speaker 10: twenty twenty twenty one, right, right, twenty twenty one, B right, yeah,
- 50:11Speaker 10: B does all my stuff.
- 50:12Speaker 7: And so recently we just after the pandemic. It's no
- 50:16Speaker 7: such nigga after But y'all know what I mean. You
- 50:18Speaker 7: know what I'm saying. Yeah, you never hear right when
- 50:21Speaker 7: everybody else Then when everybody come up to Atlanta, you
- 50:24Speaker 7: fee what I'm saying. I said seventy five and then B,
- 50:27Speaker 7: who's here, does all my whatever? And B was like, yo, e,
- 50:31Speaker 7: I just got somebody to like do eighty something. And
- 50:34Speaker 7: I was like, B, let's go off one hundred plus,
- 50:36Speaker 7: you know. And here's the crazy part. When we said
- 50:37Speaker 7: seventy five, when I might tripping. So a part of
- 50:41Speaker 7: me not taking it to the next level was this
- 50:43Speaker 7: invisible ceiling that I placed on myself that like, yo,
- 50:47Speaker 7: you're black, chill, like your mama never made this your
- 50:49Speaker 7: Brandma never made Martin never made this dog one that
- 50:53Speaker 7: you tripping Martin Luther kid. Imagine that Martin was here
- 50:55Speaker 7: right now with the rod bone and the Swiss boy,
- 50:58Speaker 7: he would have gatoray, I'm saying he would have so
- 51:01Speaker 7: many adorsements. I'm gonna being real. You're talking about going
- 51:03Speaker 7: viral Martin Luther King's speech. Bruh if it was on Instagram, TikTok.
- 51:08Speaker 7: You fee what I'm saying, it's viral, You're not alive.
- 51:10Speaker 7: So so I'm thinking to myself, like, yo, Bro, he
- 51:12Speaker 7: probably barely made sixty thousand each chill like you. But
- 51:16Speaker 7: I had to get to a point where it was like,
- 51:18Speaker 7: stop thinking in your world economically and think in the
- 51:21Speaker 7: world of speaking. It don't matter that you're black. You
- 51:24Speaker 7: were the best in the business. So what are the
- 51:27Speaker 7: best in the business charging? And that's what you have
- 51:29Speaker 7: to charge. So I told be, like, Yo, hundred one
- 51:32Speaker 7: hundred plus now court, then you gotta think Bro was
- 51:35Speaker 7: in Dubai and they paid me one hundred and eighty bruh,
- 51:38Speaker 7: one hundred and eighty at one time, Like I can't complain,
- 51:41Speaker 7: I'm getting a hunt. Everybody ain't making that kind of
- 51:43Speaker 7: that's like flipping the house, you know what I'm saying.
- 51:45Speaker 4: I'm doing it in forty five minutes. I ain't got
- 51:47Speaker 4: to put no wood.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Down though, you understand something. He do that on the
- 51:52Speaker 2: corporate level to be able to go question he does.
- 51:55Speaker 2: He speaks more for freedom, he speaks no question. If
- 51:57Speaker 2: you want to make sure people understand that how people
- 51:59Speaker 2: are in the is right now, like all right, you
- 52:00Speaker 2: blow out and charge out in eighty thousand. The kids
- 52:02Speaker 2: in the hood can't hear no, no, no, I'm charging thousand,
- 52:05Speaker 2: so we could stay.
- 52:06Speaker 3: I stay in the hood, you know what I'm saying.
- 52:07Speaker 7: And now I can really do more for the hoods
- 52:09Speaker 7: than I've ever done before. Now I could take the
- 52:11Speaker 7: hood to.
- 52:11Speaker 3: The super Bowl. Now I can go in and get
- 52:13Speaker 3: a kid.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Jay's literally twenty kids to the super no question, like
- 52:17Speaker 2: not to the super Bowl experience, like in the Super Bowl,
- 52:20Speaker 2: like don't give away super Bowl tickets. You know what
- 52:21Speaker 2: I'm saying. So I just want to make sure people understood.
- 52:24Speaker 2: And I'm gonna be real. Only twenty because only twenty
- 52:26Speaker 2: kids did what they was told to do. I went
- 52:29Speaker 2: to four schools and told them I take everybody who
- 52:32Speaker 2: can go. I ain't tripping if you can go, if
- 52:34Speaker 2: you do your.
- 52:35Speaker 7: Homework, had your mama come up here. We did a
- 52:37Speaker 7: program in the day. Then we met their parents in
- 52:39Speaker 7: the afternoon and said, here's the qualifications they do this,
- 52:42Speaker 7: they go to Super Bowl. So only twenty kids out
- 52:45Speaker 7: of the foest kids schools did it. I would have
- 52:47Speaker 7: put up two hundred and fifty if I had to.
- 52:49Speaker 7: But do you think I'm speaking one hundred and eighty.
- 52:51Speaker 7: I'm like, brother, that ain't nothing for me to go
- 52:52Speaker 7: back and bless them.
- 52:53Speaker 3: I want to go back to what you said.
- 52:54Speaker 8: You said the number one goal is to make people
- 52:56Speaker 8: kid right, and so what was the plan to make
- 53:00Speaker 8: people care right? Because he's doing stuff for the schools,
- 53:02Speaker 8: you still need to have corporate Ye think.
- 53:04Speaker 3: That's what you want to do.
- 53:05Speaker 2: So so man, I saw, okay, let me just get
- 53:10Speaker 2: you all the game, right Like so, I said, he was.
- 53:13Speaker 4: Only gonna get half of the game.
- 53:17Speaker 2: No, no, no, I was about to give you half, but
- 53:18Speaker 2: let me go. I wanted to give you the full thing.
- 53:20Speaker 2: So I sat in the office right, looked up Brouh.
- 53:22Speaker 3: Again.
- 53:23Speaker 2: I'm not the smartest person in the world, but I
- 53:24Speaker 2: know I know how to do my Google's right. Who's
- 53:26Speaker 2: the number one motivational speaking in the world. Tony Robbins
- 53:30Speaker 2: cool looked at his website. Looked at all this stuff,
- 53:32Speaker 2: I said, all right, cool, I know that he is
- 53:35Speaker 2: first of all, don't look nothing like that. Tony Rabbins
- 53:38Speaker 2: like six ten, like I loved short black dude. I'm like, okay,
- 53:42Speaker 2: we ain't got to look all right cool. We definitely
- 53:44Speaker 2: don't have the money to create this type of website.
- 53:46Speaker 2: But most people, when they hustle or they become an entrepreneur,
- 53:50Speaker 2: they try to do what everybody else is doing. I
- 53:52Speaker 2: looked and said, okay, cool, this is all the things
- 53:54Speaker 2: he's doing. I always my brain always goes to what
- 53:56Speaker 2: is he not doing? So at that time, nobody he
- 54:00Speaker 2: was putting consistent content on the internet in terms of motivation.
- 54:04Speaker 2: So I went and ordered all Tony Robbins stuff. Well,
- 54:06Speaker 2: I ordered it online and it took like six It
- 54:10Speaker 2: was like a box set DVD took like six weeks
- 54:12Speaker 2: to get to my door. And I'm like, Yo, that's
- 54:14Speaker 2: a long time to wait for some motivation. I might
- 54:16Speaker 2: have a test on Friday. You know what I'm saying.
- 54:17Speaker 2: You're trying to get pumped up. You ain't got it,
- 54:20Speaker 2: So I said, yo. When we started the et the
- 54:22Speaker 2: hip hop Preacher, I said, bro we just gonna put
- 54:24Speaker 2: content on here on a regular basis, and e we
- 54:26Speaker 2: would always be like, it's crazy because we would always
- 54:28Speaker 2: be geeked up to get back to the office on Monday.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Right.
- 54:30Speaker 2: He had a wife and kid and so like the
- 54:32Speaker 2: weekends was like dead for us. So we would come
- 54:34Speaker 2: in on Monday and everybody at the office would be
- 54:37Speaker 2: like dead. I'm talking about no energy. I don't know
- 54:39Speaker 2: if y'all ever worked the corporate job, but it's like
- 54:40Speaker 2: people like barely speaking, they barely doing anything. We would
- 54:43Speaker 2: be in there like let's go, it's showtime. And so
- 54:46Speaker 2: he always used to be saying, thank God, it's Monday,
- 54:49Speaker 2: and so I was like, all right, cool he doing
- 54:52Speaker 2: thank God is Monday, and then Friday the rest of
- 54:54Speaker 2: the world will be geeked up. And then he was like, yo,
- 54:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna do some videos for people who like not
- 54:59Speaker 2: fired up on Monday. And so we came out and
- 55:02Speaker 2: I think it was called like Magical Moments.
- 55:03Speaker 7: At first, or something like that magical Monday motivational moment.
- 55:07Speaker 2: Right right, So he was just on camera, just waxing deep,
- 55:09Speaker 2: and then finally it came around to thank God his Monday,
- 55:12Speaker 2: and we started thank God is Monday, and he put
- 55:15Speaker 2: how many years.
- 55:15Speaker 3: Did we do it? Like seven to eight years?
- 55:17Speaker 2: Seven eight years straight? We put up a video every
- 55:21Speaker 2: single Monday. I'm talking about without failed ringsleep. It didn't matter.
- 55:24Speaker 2: We put up a video every single Monday. So now
- 55:26Speaker 2: what I realized started to happen was even if you
- 55:29Speaker 2: rocked with Tony Robbins, you got e right at your
- 55:32Speaker 2: fingertips every day. So by the time you watching him
- 55:35Speaker 2: on a regular basis and waiting on your box set
- 55:37Speaker 2: DVDs because everybody else was doing the freemium model right, like,
- 55:41Speaker 2: hey watch two minutes of this and then you order
- 55:43Speaker 2: the rest, we just start giving away every time.
- 55:46Speaker 3: I oh, he would give a full hour.
- 55:48Speaker 2: I didn't care because he's such a content machine you
- 55:50Speaker 2: see most of the time, Like you go to like
- 55:52Speaker 2: comedy concerts now and they take your phone. It's because
- 55:55Speaker 2: they're doing the exact same routine every time. He never
- 55:58Speaker 2: gave it the same speech twice in his life.
- 56:00Speaker 3: Matter of fact, we.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Used to go places and people be like, can you
- 56:01Speaker 2: do the gurgle story again? He was like, I don't
- 56:04Speaker 2: do that, like this ain't like I'm not doing like
- 56:06Speaker 2: a hip hop song like I don't redo my songs,
- 56:09Speaker 2: and people will be like, he do that when you
- 56:10Speaker 2: want to succeed? Are you gonna tell that story? He
- 56:12Speaker 2: was like nah, And so I realized that he was
- 56:14Speaker 2: a content machine. So we just start putting it out.
- 56:16Speaker 2: I'm talking about free all day and everybody like, yo, see,
- 56:19Speaker 2: how did you come up with that?
- 56:20Speaker 3: That was dope?
- 56:20Speaker 2: I said, well, man, I go to the mall on
- 56:22Speaker 2: a regular basis, and when I go through the food court,
- 56:24Speaker 2: shout out to my Asian brethren. It's only one group
- 56:26Speaker 2: of people willing to let you try their stuff. I'm
- 56:29Speaker 2: just being real. They had the tooth pick out and
- 56:30Speaker 2: you walking past them and they like here, and you like,
- 56:33Speaker 2: you won't even want nothing, and they're like no. They aggressive.
- 56:36Speaker 2: Sometimes they're like no, no, no, no, just try it and
- 56:38Speaker 2: you're like bowing and then you're like, you know what,
- 56:39Speaker 2: I take the bourbon, I get. You know what, I'm saying,
- 56:42Speaker 2: them off the bourbon. You wasn't even hungry. So I
- 56:45Speaker 2: used that in my mind. I'm like, oh, okay, people
- 56:48Speaker 2: want to try it first, so we start giving it away,
- 56:51Speaker 2: and then when people start playing that kind of money,
- 56:53Speaker 2: I'm like, brou they given us this kind of check
- 56:57Speaker 2: to see the same thing that we're giving them every
- 56:59Speaker 2: single week. They just want to see it live. And
- 57:01Speaker 2: so from there like taking that mindset and going boom.
- 57:04Speaker 2: And I want to make sure we go back because
- 57:06Speaker 2: you know the question you had show.
- 57:07Speaker 3: Don't rob me.
- 57:08Speaker 4: If you've ever been live live is better than you do.
- 57:12Speaker 9: You know, I just want to make sure hear what camera.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Listen, listen, I'm hey, I'm gonna tease you, though I
- 57:23Speaker 2: tell him all the time. So how much did he
- 57:24Speaker 2: say he was getting paid to speak?
- 57:26Speaker 4: Now?
- 57:27Speaker 2: You know, we still haven't had a speech go as
- 57:29Speaker 2: viralists when you want to succeed as bat as you
- 57:30Speaker 2: want to breathe. So he getting paid a hundred thousand
- 57:33Speaker 2: for what we couldn't get paid nothing for to get
- 57:35Speaker 2: worse speeches.
- 57:36Speaker 7: I wouldn't say what. I wouldn't say worse.
- 57:40Speaker 2: Hey, listen you greatness upon you.
- 57:50Speaker 3: You had a killer virul what's camera do?
- 57:52Speaker 9: I look?
- 57:52Speaker 8: Hey?
- 57:54Speaker 3: None of them went that viral.
- 57:56Speaker 4: B all right, but they was still just as explosive.
- 57:59Speaker 2: They ain't technically they were worse, yes, but no they
- 58:03Speaker 2: were great. So but back to your question, you know
- 58:05Speaker 2: the other thing, And I want to make sure people
- 58:07Speaker 2: understand this when you think of the ethos and energy
- 58:09Speaker 2: of the brand, right like you talked about racism and
- 58:12Speaker 2: you know I will say this, Yes, we have to
- 58:14Speaker 2: fight against a lot of that, of course, but.
- 58:18Speaker 8: This episode is brought to you by P and C Bank.

- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Crazy thing about when we start coming up, if you notice,
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: like the hip hop culture in the last ten to
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: fifteen years is wait, like I died laughing sometimes like
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Two Live Crew got banned from entire states for the
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: same thing CARDI be doing on bit more than America.
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: And I like ice Cube is the perfect ice Ta
- 1:00:57Speaker 6: the perfect example. He made a song called cop Killing
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: played a cop for the last twenty years, right.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Fam, So you see what I'm saying, So like thin
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: think about the difference in generations where it was like
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: two Live Crew is getting banned from a state and
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: now you know Cardi doing her thing on like Ellen.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, So that that we were
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: a part of that. When we came in, nobody was
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: wearing gym shoes and hats. Every motivational speaker had a
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: ten piece suit on and was, you know, doing their thing.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: And so he was the first one and I remember
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: he was I give e credit from a branding perspective
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: of this cause I got to the point where I
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: told you I was wired for the bag.
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: And it was the first time.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: We were about to get ten thousand dollars for a
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: speech and somebody called me and they were like, hey,
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: we want to build Aaron Thomas. I remember he told
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: me like, hey, you need to we need to get
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: up to that five figure mark. And I was like,
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: all right, cool, I'm gonna get to ten thousand. Boom,
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: I remember I called. They called. It's like, yeah, we
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: did the whole negotiation. I was like, boom, I got
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: ten racks. Called e I'm like bad, we good, Let's
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: go ten racks. He like, let's go see. So they
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: called me back the next day and it was like, hey,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: we just talked to the CEO that ten thousands approved.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: There's no problem with that, but can he wear a
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: suit because it's a corporate like, you know, dinner. And
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: I was like, oh, no problem. I'm like right, you
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, we go right down the sears.
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying a little to this, I
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: called eup. I was like, yo, I called a robot.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: I was like, called EUP. I was like, yeah, bro,
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: we're good on the ten thousand. They just want you
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: to wear a soup in that joint, you know what
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: I'm saying. Because he was like, oh, tell him, I
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: can't do it. I said what He was like, Bro,
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: that's not the brand, Like bro, we hip hop, Like
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: that's what we are. And I was like, bro, I
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: just said they got ten thousand dollars for one speech.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: He was like, tell him I can't do it, and
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: I'll never forget. I called the lady back and she
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: was like, hey, how you doing. I was like, yeah,
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: I'm call him back and I was like, you know,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: I talked to E and we're not gonna be able
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: to do the gig.
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: He's not gonna wear a suit.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: And she was like, you mean to tell me that
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: you guys are going to turn down ten thousand just
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: to not have.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: To wear suit.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: I said, hold on, hold on, no, no, no, I will
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: come in and tuck season.
- 1:02:57Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: I will come to that joint in servemo dirt. He
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: ain't coming, so she was like fine, and I promise you.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: It was a while later and we were over ten thousand,
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: but a lady called and I booked a gig and
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: she called me back and she was like, oh, we
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: just had one thing, and you know you had that
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: dejah vu.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: I had dajah vou and I was like, oh my god.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: I was like, she's about to say we're a suit
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: and I was about to just tell her like, we're
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: not wearing no suit, forget about it. And she was like,
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: can you make sure he wears the hat and the
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: gym shoes because that's how we watch all his videos
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: and when he comes in.
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: We want our whole staff to know it's him and
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: watch this.
- 1:03:30Speaker 7: Though we never talked about this, she wasn't with me
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: when I first started. So I was wearing suits and
- 1:03:35Speaker 7: I just got to a point two things. One I
- 1:03:37Speaker 7: was like, Yo, I'm just tired of being what they
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: want me to be. Bro Like for after a while,
- 1:03:41Speaker 7: you just when you realize bro like, bro, I'm just
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: I'm tired, like this ain't I ain't no suit, dude.
- 1:03:45Speaker 7: I'm from Detroit, brouh this four GM and Christler. Culturally,
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: we wear boots. Were going to a plant. You understand
- 1:03:53Speaker 7: I'm saying you had an assembly line, you got a town.
- 1:03:55Speaker 7: That joker go you gonna be and you know, so
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: we don't dress like that. And I know some dudes
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: from the trade, like the HIGHO player stuff gat him.
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: I'm like, I'm not talking about that, bro, I'm talking like,
- 1:04:07Speaker 7: I'm not talking like that. You feel I'm talking about
- 1:04:09Speaker 7: like dressing up, dressing up. So I was just like, yo, see,
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: I'm tired as an African American male, Bro, I'm tired
- 1:04:17Speaker 7: of this suit. Ain't got nothing to do with what
- 1:04:20Speaker 7: I do. I'm tired, like I'm tired of tap dancing.
- 1:04:23Speaker 7: And there's always been apart. I think it was four
- 1:04:26Speaker 7: four four. Jay Z was breaking down, you know, he
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: was saying it like I don't care, Oh Jay, I
- 1:04:31Speaker 7: don't care what you do. You still And I was like, yo,
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: I'm tired. I'm tired of tap dancing. I'm tired of
- 1:04:36Speaker 7: like doing what they want me to do, like I
- 1:04:38Speaker 7: want to be myself. And I also knew because you
- 1:04:41Speaker 7: remember I'm in the beginning. I'm like Curtis Curtis blow
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: basketball was my face like I was there in the beginning,
- 1:04:48Speaker 7: you know what I'm saying, Like I wasn't. The NWA
- 1:04:50Speaker 7: came later. I was pop too, Biggie that was later.
- 1:04:54Speaker 7: I was there when we was out on the street
- 1:04:57Speaker 7: in Chicago with the cardboard tiktoking, don't stop.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Bag to the beats up there?
- 1:05:03Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:05:04Speaker 7: We were doing am breaking a beach street and I
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: knew watching commercials.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: I'm like, yo, the.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: Colonel doing the.
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: Whoa okay Southwest? They not Southwest? Wearing shorts, T shirt
- 1:05:19Speaker 7: and they ain't on they rapping the I'm like, okay,
- 1:05:22Speaker 7: we look like hip hop, look like it's It looks
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: like it's taking over. So I was like, yo, e
- 1:05:27Speaker 7: hip hop taking over. Don't be one of those dudes
- 1:05:29Speaker 7: to wait till it take over. Tike on your chance
- 1:05:31Speaker 7: right now, Like just like jay Z and all them
- 1:05:34Speaker 7: are making a you in this game, you can and
- 1:05:37Speaker 7: listen to me, bro, Like y'all may not get this.
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: We always been rats, bro, before we did anything else.
- 1:05:43Speaker 7: We could speak. That's how we got out of slavery.
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: It's being able to speak talk, being able to like
- 1:05:49Speaker 7: articulate Frederick Douglas articulate like du why they articulate like
- 1:05:54Speaker 7: they got us out on that mouthfeet You look at
- 1:05:56Speaker 7: the on your y'all from New York.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: Just look at the block.
- 1:05:59Speaker 7: They telling Joe, they running game, They trying to mac
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: the girl like we've always done this, We've always been talkers.
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: I was like, bro, this is what we do. I
- 1:06:08Speaker 7: got home court advantage, Like this is what we own.
- 1:06:11Speaker 7: And not only do we do this, the world respects Martin,
- 1:06:14Speaker 7: the world respects x X was on the he was
- 1:06:17Speaker 7: on the copy of stuff. He had a relationship to
- 1:06:20Speaker 7: FBI was on my man like he wasn't no, he
- 1:06:22Speaker 7: wasn't no lame. So the mouthpiece has always been Richard
- 1:06:27Speaker 7: pryor Red Fox. The mouthpiece always been sweet. And so
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: I was just like, bro, this is what we got.
- 1:06:33Speaker 7: We got home court advantage. Because you love Mohela Jackson.
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: Why she don't just sing the hymnos. She's singing with soul.
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: I don't just speak, I speak with soul. This is
- 1:06:44Speaker 7: my arena. And y'all ain't gonna tell me how to
- 1:06:46Speaker 7: do it no more because you don't have home court
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: advantage of this. I got it, And I'm about to
- 1:06:50Speaker 7: put my foot down and I'm about to establish who
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: I am in the earth, and I'm not playing games
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: with y'all no more. And I'm not running up behind
- 1:06:56Speaker 7: your money. And from that day forth, I think even
- 1:06:59Speaker 7: for him, it was more of a ooh, this okay,
- 1:07:03Speaker 7: this our like, this our lane now and I don't
- 1:07:06Speaker 7: have to be timid when I'm making deals no more.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: I can whatever.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: And after that, bro, I'm just telling you, like we
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: took off.
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: That reminds me of kind of my story too, because
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: I used to be a financial advisor before I did this,
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: and I was a financial advisor for twelve years. And
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: when I first started, my first office was in Mahat.
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: It was on Park Avenue, so you know, coming I'm
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: like twenty four year old black kid, one of the
- 1:07:25Speaker 6: only black people in the office. So you know, it's
- 1:07:28Speaker 6: you don't even think about you wear a suit, you
- 1:07:29Speaker 6: wear a shirt tie. That's how you know you're not
- 1:07:31Speaker 6: really respected if you're not even on casual Fridays, you
- 1:07:33Speaker 6: at least wear a.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: Polo shirt, right, that's a shirt and loaf and stuff
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: like that.
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: And I was doing that for like ten years, and
- 1:07:39Speaker 6: I actually did like it on a certain level. I
- 1:07:41Speaker 6: got into the suits and all of that, and I
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: still wear suits every now and then, but I'm like
- 1:07:46Speaker 6: by choice, yeah, exactly, so, But when we started this,
- 1:07:49Speaker 6: it was like very intentional that we just dressed how
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: we dressed, whether it's T shirt, hoodie, you know, with
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: a lawsuit, because that's that's the era that we grew
- 1:07:57Speaker 6: up in. And it's like, you know, we could dictate
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: they can't dictate it to us. So it's like you
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: can't just lower our intelligence by saying, oh, they wearing
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: T shirts. So that just discredits them, because now that
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: forces you to think differently, right, because for a long time,
- 1:08:12Speaker 6: nobody in business was RESPECTU unless you had the a
- 1:08:14Speaker 6: A suit on it.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: But it's hard to do that though, when you tell
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: somebody who's on the come up, right, Like if you
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: know you working, you at a place where they're telling you, like,
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: this is the acceptable norm in the standard. And so
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: it's easy for us to say now because of what
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: we built, but people do feel that pressure to conform.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: Bro.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: You I'm just being real, Bro, Like we run a
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: solar company. Shout out the Harbor Solar. You know what
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: I'm saying, Like, Bro, we have guys who go door
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: to door. I'm just being real. The black kid knocking
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: on somebody door cold, it's different than the good looking
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: white dude with the blind hair. I'm just saying, opening
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: your door. They literally have to get somebody to open
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: the door and walk into the house and sit down
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: at their dinner dining room table. Bro, when you black,
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: it's not an excuse, it's just a reason.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: That's just bro.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: That's why we always say we got to be even better,
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, go faster and stronger. So
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: that's why we get on our guys like, yo, you
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: can't be already starting to race back and running slower,
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like it could be done,
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: but you really got to put that work in the
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: grind because there are some built in disadvantages that most
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: people would never understand. It's funny, just you know, while
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: we're on that, I was at my knee swim meet
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: last night, right crazy, and you know, swimming ain't necessarily
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: our thing, so it ain't a lot of us out there, right,
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: And my brother, my sister in law, this guy standing
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: there taking pictures like right in front of her seat,
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: and so it's loud out there or whatever, and she
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: like tapped my man on the side of the shoulder
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: like hey, excuse me, I'm door just like barely no, no, no,
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: just like trying to get to her seat, just like
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: you know, I couldn't hear. My man turns there and
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: he's like, hey, don't touch me, and you know, you
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: know training he not for the games. So my brother
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: was like, you know, I'm talking about about to give
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: my man the business, and I, you know, of course,
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: I calmed down. I'm like, look, we got too much
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: to lose these days. And Train was like, yo, my man,
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: he was only doing that because we're black. And I
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: was like, you know what's crazy. I said, you might
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: be right, you might not. My man might be a
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: jerk to every but unfortunately, when you black, you have
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: to take that into consideration. And so it's a mindset
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: that I think that we've been given by society that
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: we have to work through. I tell people all the time,
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: it's like, if you white and you got a great
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: and I tell my white friends this all the time.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: You got a great idea, you've got a great business,
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: you got a little paper, some investors, at no point
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: do you have to process. But I'm also black walking
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: in this room, and as black men, especially being some
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: of the most feared people on the planet, I'm always
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: aware of my blackness, whether I should be or not.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: When I'm at the mall or I'm at the hotel
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: picking up eat from the wald off the story this
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: morning and I get into an elevator with an older
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: white woman, I'm very aware and she very aware of
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: what this scenario feels like right in this moment, you
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. And so that's why it's so
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: important for us to teach our young black men. You know,
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: you don't have to wear the suit and do all
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: of that, but you do have to be sharp and
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: ready to play ball at all times, you know what
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: So talk about growing laterally.
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: And you know you have the Alice good Energies of
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: the world.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: His name, Yeah you got that's his last name. Yeah yeah, right,
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: come on, n w I g w E.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: You got you got five millionaire?
- 1:11:12Speaker 12: Yeah yeah, man, Jeremy, you got the crew, Niki Ni Niki.
- 1:11:19Speaker 12: So all right, so now you kind of have built
- 1:11:22Speaker 12: what is it a management firm type? What's the relationship
- 1:11:25Speaker 12: with all of these different people in the ecosystem.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: No, these are all just I say friends and business partners,
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: you know, brothers. You know, it was crazy because what
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: I realized is and Toby really made me realize it,
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: right because like the same people don't even like if
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: people go back and watch right, we just thank God
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: It's Monday forever. Anybody know how Toby blew up Get
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: Twisted Sundays.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Get Twisted Sunday.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: He would sit on the floor and his wife would
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: twist his hair and that's what blew him up. And
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: people didn't even catch on to the fact that all
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: we did was take thank God is Monday, which was
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: a weekly motivational series, and do Get Twisted Sundays, which
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: was a week and he did it every single week
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: on Instagram on Instagram, and it literally blew up because
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: he did it consistently and it started to build a following.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: And so we really used that same blueprint. But to
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: your question, Alex, again, I had figured out a lot
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: of stuff being in this space early, right like I
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: was with him early. I'm thirty nine, about to be forty,
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: but he's a little older and have put me on
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: a lot of gaming because we lived so much life
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: through this space that I learned a lot. So for instance,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: when I met Alex, you know in Jamaica, Alex is
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: telling me he was doing one on ones. Well, how
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: did I know he was tired of doing one on
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: ones because I used to do one on ones and
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: I was tired of doing one on one. So what
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: did I do when out side away on one on ones?
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: We created a Breathe University and that was a platform
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: that let everybody come under the foe. So when Alex
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: was telling me, Yo, I'm burned out on these one
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: on ones, I said, oh, we got to get it
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: over into a course.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: He was like, what's the course?
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: I said, Bro, We're just gonna put everything you know
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: into a course so that the masters can come get it.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: Because what if I live in Chicago or Houston or
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: Philadelphia or LA and I want to learn this information
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: from you, I gotta fly in the Atlanta and get
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: in the hotel for a week for you to teach
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: me all the stuff that I could learn from my computer.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: And so it was just really me saying, Yo, all
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: of these people who are coming up with us, let's
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: go ahead and give them the game. It wasn't even
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: so much as like pay me for this or pay
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: me for that. It was like I understood, Like I
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: told you, we studied whole. Hoe said, if everybody in
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: your click is rich, your click is rugged, nobody fall.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: And I believe really from New York.
- 1:13:26Speaker 7: No, no, no, I told you it was a little test.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: I just believed that if Alex was doing good work
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: in this world and turned himself into a multi millionaire,
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: that at some point we would be doing great business together,
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: which is what we do now. Inky, same thing I
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: saw Inky is like Inky is the closest thing I've
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: ever seen the e in my life. Like Inky is
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: a machine dog, just a good dude. So Inky used
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: to just pull up at my crib and be like, yo, see,
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: let me know what's up.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: So my job was to always help people who had
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: a gift to take that thing to the next level.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: And people always like, yo, you know, how do I
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: find my gift or whatever? And I tell people all
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: the time, what comes easy to you, that's hard for most? Right,
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Like think about that, Like what comes easy to you
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: that's hard for most? That's usually where your gift is.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: You know them people, I don't know who drew that,
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: but somebody who drew that, I'm not saying that they
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: didn't put a ton of work into their craft. But
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: they probably was like one of them kids when they
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: was like eight years old just start dueling you. Was like, yo,
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: my man, kind of nice with that. I've been trying.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: I love drawing, bro, I can't draw a stick figure, Like,
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: it's just not in me, right, That's not my natural gift.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: My natural gift is speaking and being able to see
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: what's hot. Like I always used to pick like what's
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: still gonna be the single off the album? That used
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: to be my thing. Like I would get an album,
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: a jay Z album and listen to it and be like, Okay,
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: this track, this track and this track gonna be the single.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: So that's when I knew when East start, when we
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: start putting EA stuff together, I would take in piece
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: of all together.
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: I would be like, okay, music.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: Here, crescendo it here, off here, and then every time
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: it would go viral and so that. But I'm in
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: my gift. So when you see Nikki, she's in her
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: natural gift. When you see Jeremy Anderson, when you see Alex,
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: they're in their gift. When you see Inkys in his gift,
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: and you know Toby he bro Me and Toby Full
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: you know quick story.
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: Were in the car.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: Toby was just in the car with me and he
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: starts freestyling and I looked at him and I was like.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: How'd you meet him?
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: So okay, he told me came and picked up from
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: the airport one time. He called into the number we
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: had on the battage.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: I was still working at Michigan State University.
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: Was a driver.
- 1:15:16Speaker 7: He was he just wanted to get not like that
- 1:15:20Speaker 7: he was he had finished playing about nothing. I s
- 1:15:23Speaker 7: not like I didn't wish you sorry, don't apologize. I
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: meant he had finished. Yeah, he had finished football. He
- 1:15:32Speaker 7: didn't know what he was going to do in life.
- 1:15:34Speaker 7: And he just called him. Was like, yo, e I'm this, this,
- 1:15:37Speaker 7: this and that, and if I just want to connect
- 1:15:39Speaker 7: with you because I watched you, I get inspired by you.
- 1:15:42Speaker 7: So if you're ever in Houston, I'm gonna come pick
- 1:15:44Speaker 7: you up. And I was like, all right. Beat ended
- 1:15:46Speaker 7: up going to Houston working with Houston Cougar's basketball at
- 1:15:51Speaker 7: the time, and I was like, yo, told my MoMA.
- 1:15:53Speaker 7: I didn't know him, but I was like, yo, I'm
- 1:15:54Speaker 7: on my way. He like, let me come get you.
- 1:15:55Speaker 7: And the crazy thing about it is told came and
- 1:15:58Speaker 7: got me every time, and I never realized that he
- 1:16:01Speaker 7: blew up that he didn't.
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: Have a car.
- 1:16:03Speaker 7: He would his homegirl worked that enterprise and she would
- 1:16:07Speaker 7: hook him up when I would come to town, and
- 1:16:09Speaker 7: so he would fake it like he had transportation.
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: He picked me up in the truck, put.
- 1:16:13Speaker 7: My stuff in, and so when I would go to
- 1:16:15Speaker 7: the hotel, he would stay with me.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: So I'm like, yo, you take the bed.
- 1:16:18Speaker 7: I take the floor, because at that time I wouldn't
- 1:16:20Speaker 7: really balling balling where I could get multiple hotel room
- 1:16:22Speaker 7: or me.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: I just love I had no brothers, so I just
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: love it.
- 1:16:25Speaker 7: So he's sleep in the bed, I sleep on the
- 1:16:27Speaker 7: floor and we just hang out. And he took me
- 1:16:29Speaker 7: to his school and did a play. I never seen
- 1:16:32Speaker 7: nothing like it. He wrapped his sister dance. I never
- 1:16:35Speaker 7: seen kids. It was like a black musical. I never
- 1:16:38Speaker 7: seen kids that locked in other than you know. When
- 1:16:41Speaker 7: I was speaking and I called, see, like, yo, see
- 1:16:44Speaker 7: this dude, broh, you cause see on that, like see
- 1:16:48Speaker 7: beyond that, Like he don't like to talk to people,
- 1:16:50Speaker 7: meet people like he just in our circle, Like he
- 1:16:52Speaker 7: don't he just weird like that, he don't like people.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: I was like he got a lot of ideas. That's
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: the problem. He called you every thirty seven with an idea.
- 1:17:00Speaker 7: I'm like, bro, I meet people and I'm like, I
- 1:17:03Speaker 7: think this the one, not all I make the one,
- 1:17:05Speaker 7: but you got to listen to something of them if
- 1:17:07Speaker 7: they gonna meet them one.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: So I was like, no. Told.
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: I was like, I know, I messed up on the
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: couple with the one. I'm telling you one.
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: No, but mind you though, never nothing to do with music,
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. He was like, the kid
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: was just talented. And so we were down there, and
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: remember I told you my wife took that job with
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: General Electric, and so she was getting rotated across the
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: country and one of our stops was in Houston. So
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: when I was there, I finally hit Toby up and
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: was like, all right, man, Eve want us to meet whatever.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: And of course he came through and we hit it off.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: We just kicking it and we were in the car
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: one day and I promise you nobody's seen it. I
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: got the video. Nikki seen it before. I got a
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: video from the very first time we were in the car,
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: ten years ago. Whatever it is, sitting in the ride
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: and Toby start freestyling, and I couldn't believe it. I
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: was like, yo, I've never heard nobody rap like this,
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: right And I was like, YOA ain't know you wrapped.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: He was like, I've never wrapped the day in my life.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: I was like what I was like. I turned my
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: camera on, I got the video on my phone. I
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: was like, yo, start rapping.
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: Bro.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: He just start rapping, and I was like, Yo, this
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: is crazy. At the same time, he and I were
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: coming up a little bit, so I was like, look,
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: I don't know what else you're doing right now. I
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: can give you like a couple dollars to just focus
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: on music full time. He's like, what do you want
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: me to do? I was like, bro, I don't know,
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: just start figuring it out. Because again what I say,
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: imagine the cat who could sit here and rap like this,
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: who's never actually tried me. I tried rapping. I got
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: three four rap names. I was in a group, you
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. Like y'all said before, it was
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: a group. I got a mixtape. God forbid, I ever
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: see the light of day. We saw my bus and guns,
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: all kind of stuff. We were shooting people.
- 1:18:36Speaker 9: I ain't never held a gun oh, I'm talking about crazy.
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: But Toby again, I said, Man, you could rap like
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: this without trying. Imagine if you put it into ten
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: thousand hours. We were big on glad Well at the time, Outliers.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: I don't know if y'all ever read ours, but you
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: know the ten thousand hour rule.
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: We were big on that. So I was like, Yo,
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: just start rapping right now.
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: And he started rapping, bro, And then like I said,
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: to get twisted, Sunday's things start hitting. And then sure
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: and sure enough, Bro, I mean, this boy doing stuff
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: with Beyonce. We got records coming out. By the time
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: this come out, y'all are here. But uh, you know
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: some of the biggest producers in the game collabing with
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: you know, some of the biggest artists. So for me
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: to watch what we did and then see it work
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: in a completely different genre is nuts, right to just
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: see like this don't have nothing to do with music,
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: And now we got somebody who's descended through the music
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: ranks like that. And It's the only thing I don't
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: like now is everybody think I'm like, shure do something.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: So people like yo, goa listen to my mixtake. I'm
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: like Hey, bro, I ain't really ain't right exactly.
- 1:19:33Speaker 7: Right, but I say I think the other to your point,
- 1:19:36Speaker 7: I think the other thing that's unique about how we
- 1:19:38Speaker 7: did it is that, yeah, it's the blueprint.
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: She does the business, but I do the character and
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: spiritual development.
- 1:19:43Speaker 7: So for me, with everybody that's in our crew, it's like, Yo,
- 1:19:45Speaker 7: Bro'm y'all young, I'm fifty one.
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: I seen a lot of cats with bread come and go.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: I've seen a.
- 1:19:51Speaker 7: Lot of black people sports business, make a lot of
- 1:19:55Speaker 7: money and lose everything. So my job is, bro, I
- 1:19:59Speaker 7: don't care nothing about you see making money? Can you
- 1:20:01Speaker 7: sustain it for the next fifty sixty years? So that's
- 1:20:04Speaker 7: my job. It's saying, Yo, I know you in this generation,
- 1:20:07Speaker 7: but I'm the og. Some of the moves you make,
- 1:20:09Speaker 7: it like, I'm gonna tell you you don't want to
- 1:20:11Speaker 7: be making those moves.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: I know this.
- 1:20:13Speaker 7: I know it's trendy and they doing it, but I
- 1:20:15Speaker 7: promise you, bruh. Like y'all from New York, everybody ain't.
- 1:20:19Speaker 7: Everybody ain't for your success, and y'all online so people
- 1:20:23Speaker 7: can watch your moves in a way that when we
- 1:20:25Speaker 7: was coming up, you can't like you don't know where
- 1:20:27Speaker 7: I'm at. You can't watch my mood. You can't So
- 1:20:29Speaker 7: for me, I'm on the Okay, you got it, but
- 1:20:33Speaker 7: my job is to help you to keep it for
- 1:20:35Speaker 7: the next thirty forty fifty years. You feel what I'm saying,
- 1:20:37Speaker 7: So that's the combination. C's gonna show you the blueprint,
- 1:20:40Speaker 7: help you to get it. But I'm like told you
- 1:20:41Speaker 7: need to be in a relationship. You need to be
- 1:20:43Speaker 7: faithful to your wife. You need to figure out what
- 1:20:46Speaker 7: your values and your morals are. You needn't figure out
- 1:20:48Speaker 7: what your non negotiables are. Because let me be real, Bruh,
- 1:20:52Speaker 7: I'm not saying it's easy to be successful, but bruh,
- 1:20:54Speaker 7: we knew like a lot of us first generation money,
- 1:20:57Speaker 7: so you ain't like another community where they fit fifth,
- 1:21:00Speaker 7: sixth generation, and so it's a lot of foundation. Like
- 1:21:04Speaker 7: we don't have a lot of foundation. What's the first
- 1:21:06Speaker 7: thing we do when we get money? We gonna spend it.
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: And I just.
- 1:21:09Speaker 7: Showed my crew, bruh. Food is a trillion dollar industry.
- 1:21:13Speaker 7: Sex is a billion dollar industry. Drugs is a trillion
- 1:21:16Speaker 7: dollar Like you feel me like you make it, they
- 1:21:18Speaker 7: want to take it from you and so it's easy
- 1:21:20Speaker 7: for them to take it from you because it's a
- 1:21:23Speaker 7: business to sell drugs, it's a business to sell food
- 1:21:26Speaker 7: ain't healthy for you.
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: So my job is, hey, y'all sit down with me
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: the OG.
- 1:21:31Speaker 7: I ain't telling y'all what to do, but let me
- 1:21:33Speaker 7: tell you how I started this when I was nineteen.
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: Not perfect, but I ain't. Never fell off.
- 1:21:38Speaker 7: And like you said, bruh, my wife was online one
- 1:21:41Speaker 7: night looking it up and my wife was like, Yo,
- 1:21:43Speaker 7: I'm proud of you, And I.
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: Was like, why you say that.
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: She's like, because since you decided to do this for real,
- 1:21:49Speaker 7: for real, like not just speaking in your twenties, but
- 1:21:51Speaker 7: like since you hit that, had your kids, and like
- 1:21:54Speaker 7: you took you took this thing serious, Like ain't no
- 1:21:56Speaker 7: stuff on you, Like you can't go and go eaty.
- 1:21:59Speaker 7: So I ain't perfect, but I'm like I've watched many men. Yeah,
- 1:22:03Speaker 7: I can name we all can name it. It ain't
- 1:22:05Speaker 7: it ain't more than what I'm saying.
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: You can all name the stuff that take us down.
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: So my thing is white, build with one hand and
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: then tear down with the other one.
- 1:22:13Speaker 7: So if you're gonna get tore it down, let somebod
- 1:22:14Speaker 7: else tear you down, but don't tear your own stuff down.
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: So for us, it's like your Inky family, Toby family.
- 1:22:20Speaker 7: And at any point I can pick up the phone
- 1:22:22Speaker 7: and be like, ininc you're killing the game, but I
- 1:22:24Speaker 7: see something.
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: I want you to focus on this and work on
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: and none of the may like ah, E, don't call me,
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: don't tell me, they like yo, O G.
- 1:22:31Speaker 7: Whatever you say, Like, we own that because we want
- 1:22:35Speaker 7: to keep our foundation solid.
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: And to that point, man, when we talked about ebing
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: number one in the world, I honestly think that's the
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: thing that I'm most proud of. Like bro, like not
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: to give ourselves kudos, but several multi millionaires, not just us,
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: have come under your like and so when you talk
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: no disrespect when you say Tony, I don't know who
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: Tony Robbins, Like, what's his tree?
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: Who else do you like?
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: Oh, he's like you just named off Toby Alex, Like
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: these people came up under us and now our building kingdoms.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: So when you see like the compound effect is just
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: being crazy, you know what I mean? The only one
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: that you said and he gonna kill mem said Ma
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: was already a multi millionaire before you took I don't.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: I don't want to say, but.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: He did.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: I ain't one of these little sus you raised up.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: It became been a millionaires since. Ye, yeah, absolutely, of
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: course you know what I'm saying. So y'all hear Mare's
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: story at some point. But Mare has one of the
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: craziest stories ever. But he's a part of the fan.
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: But of course, yes, Mare, we know you were a
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: millionaire several times over before.
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: We mentioned.
- 1:23:42Speaker 8: Before the scale standpoint obviously as your building. Yeah, answer
- 1:23:46Speaker 8: everything too, So the merse becomes thing trade barking. I
- 1:23:49Speaker 8: see obviously the logo, the mixtapes. He had the books too,
- 1:23:53Speaker 8: so before obviously you know you is now but were
- 1:23:56Speaker 8: the three bus that came fire?
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: Question? What made you decide?
- 1:23:59Speaker 8: All right, I'm doing this from the brother stand point,
- 1:24:01Speaker 8: but now here's the actual literashire that goes along with it.
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: Yes, go for it.
- 1:24:06Speaker 7: I'm just saying mc hammer, I'm just saying master p.
- 1:24:10Speaker 7: They left, they had gave us the blueprint do it out.
- 1:24:12Speaker 7: The trump like, don't go with nobody because you're gonna
- 1:24:15Speaker 7: lose your bread. So the first three was like, don't
- 1:24:17Speaker 7: nobody know me? I go with a publishing deal. I'm
- 1:24:20Speaker 7: not gonna get an advantage, Like it's gonna be a
- 1:24:22Speaker 7: disadvantaged So I'm like, I trust me, I trust him,
- 1:24:25Speaker 7: I trust my garage.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: We took all the.
- 1:24:27Speaker 7: Cars out the garage, fill that joke up with a
- 1:24:29Speaker 7: hundred thousand books and we did what we had to
- 1:24:32Speaker 7: do to sell a hundred thousand copies of the first
- 1:24:35Speaker 7: Secret to Success.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: I signed every last one. So for us, it was
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: a money move. It was like, he need a salary,
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: Karl need a salary.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: So these books.
- 1:24:42Speaker 7: Twenty nine ninety five times a hundred thousand books.
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: It's gonna give us some need.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: But to even speak before that to your question, we
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: listened to our audience. Yeah, So he was doing TGIM
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: every week and everybody was like, we need the book. Oh,
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: when we're gonna release the shirts. We was like, look,
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: they're ask him for a shout out. Dave Shan's you
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: know another one under the tree that we didn't mention.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: But he did our first shirts. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: We did the shirt design. When you want to succeed,
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: but you want to breathe. We let them joints go
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: and they went crazy. But I think a lot of
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: people they get to moving before they listen to their audience,
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like, and then you end
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: up creating stuff that they don't want. So we were
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: literally we gave the remember the freemium model that I
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: talked about, We gave it out free and then they
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: were like, okay, and they were like, Yo, where's the book? Well,
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: where's the shirt?
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: Can I get? Oh?
- 1:25:25Speaker 9: I seet got the hat? Can we get the hat?
- 1:25:26Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: So it was just really listening to the market and
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: what the market was demanding and then creating that product
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: from that.
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: You know, and the market demanded this what they called
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: like with a check. I'm like, man, you gonna get
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: me a check to write a book?
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: Wow?
- 1:25:39Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: This is our first major talk about you.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: We're on the label now, you know what I'm saying, Right, Bill, you.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: Know what I'm saying.
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: We signed now, you know what I'm saying, kind of
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, joint venture.
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: He got the turn down, Like where you go it? Yeah,
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: it's a financial that world.
- 1:26:01Speaker 6: So all right, So what's what's the deal with this book?
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: And what made you after doing three books independent, having success,
- 1:26:07Speaker 6: making money. What made you want to say, Okay, this
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: time we want to do it.
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: You know what turns out?
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: Turns out shout.
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: They don't.
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: They don't let you count like New York Times bestseller
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: when you do it out the trump.
- 1:26:16Speaker 4: They want real numbers.
- 1:26:17Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:26:18Speaker 7: I'm like, look, I'm telling you we so I'm telling
- 1:26:21Speaker 7: I got proof. They was like, man, if you don't
- 1:26:23Speaker 7: get your little black but out of here. So I
- 1:26:26Speaker 7: was like, okay, So anyway, I told E this time, bro,
- 1:26:30Speaker 7: let's get like that milestone.
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. Like, we've accomplished a lot.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: We have not had a New York Times bestseller, right,
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: and like I look at E in the space and
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: you know, you see all these authors and stuff like that.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: And again we did books that did tremendous and they
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: were great for us financially, and you know, we made
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: a lot of money and you know, the informations out
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: there and it's fantastic. But this time we wanted to
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: go legit so that we could have that out there
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: and have another stripe under ET's belt. As I mean,
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna be real as you you know when we
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: got the PhD, bad went up when he kind of
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: you know, started going viral, and the bag went up.
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: When we get this one right here, bag going up.
- 1:27:07Speaker 9: I mean, you know what I'm saying, it's another not
- 1:27:09Speaker 9: in the bag. I mean, why not?
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: Again it is and then and then this is dope
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: because the book is so personal this time. I mean,
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: we're sharing some stuff and are we allowed to talk
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: about it? Ain't all been rosy we had you know,
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: he and I have had our it's all been rosy.
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: I'm the one that's got the issue. Now I'm the
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: one to grow up without the dad, you know what
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: I'm saying. So I had this stuff to work through.
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: So we we get we get deep about like some
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: things like everybody looking like okay, But we've had our moments,
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. Like there was there was
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: a moment in time where he was like wondering if
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: I was leaving him, like he thought I was out.
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying now, Again he got daddy issues.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: I grew up with the best dad in the world,
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: so I was secure. But he felt like okay, like
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: I'm so long story short, I'll let y'all read the book.
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: But I start getting ahead of myself. When the money
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: start coming, I was like, all right, cool, I know
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: how to do this now, so I'm about to just
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: go crazy. But you got to understand something. He was
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: still traveling and speaking. I won't go into no speaking events.
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: I wasn't sure like he had it. It's like, bro,
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: you literally saying fifty thousand and they're like, okay, here's
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: the It's like, there's nothing for me to do like that,
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: you know, other than come and be a moral support.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: Which so so that so that was hard for you
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: because he's getting on the linlight. He's a star.
- 1:28:20Speaker 6: He's going places, and you in the office just right,
- 1:28:23Speaker 6: and eventually you want to at least be in the room.
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: No, he never wanted to know. No, I never wanted
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: to do.
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: I want because I felt like we built it and
- 1:28:34Speaker 7: he ain't nowhere.
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: So he was.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: So he is one of the most relational humans you'll
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: ever meet in your life. Like, bro, I just kind
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: of be by myself, like I'm good, like he wanted
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: to like if he comes, he like he want to
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: do breakfast, He want to do lunch, he wanted to
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: do dinner.
- 1:28:50Speaker 9: Look, he want to, he want he want to.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: He want to sit out on the balcony and talk
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: about our dreams all day. And like I understood that.
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: And for a time I was there. I was that
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: for him. And then when he started going out and
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: again you got to understand something. We ran hard to
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: build the brand, and then it got to a point
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: where it was like we got every company in the
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: world called how many gigs did you turn down last year?
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: Well it was one year.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: I turned on a thousand opportunity.
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: A thousand, and he talking about big bags, And so
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: that was my job is to get us hot.
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: That a whole bunch of being inkies though you know
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: what I'm saying.
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: So again, my job was to get us to that level.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: And once we got almost worked myself out of a job,
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: if that makes sense. So I said to myself, Look,
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: this can't be the only way we feed our families
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: is when E get on stage and talk.
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: Even the books and stuff is cool.
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: But if he decided he done, or he don't want
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: to talk no more, all the products in the merchant ain't.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: The sweet anyway.
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: Jordan, the only one to be able to retire for
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: twenty years and still keeping stuff hot. So I couldn't
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: guarantee that we was gonna eat off this forever. So
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: what did I do. I started going out and building
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: other businesses. So we got into the real estate, we
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: got into the solar, and I was telling him about it,
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: but you know, eat old school. So he like, I
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: ain't seen no check. He didn't know that we were
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: just dumping the money right back in. We was investing
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: the money.
- 1:30:04Speaker 7: But again not in a bad way, but they were
- 1:30:06Speaker 7: just going. They were just getting the movie moving. So
- 1:30:09Speaker 7: you gotta understand, I'm used to every we talk about everything.
- 1:30:12Speaker 7: Now they doing business and we not talking about nothing.
- 1:30:15Speaker 7: But I literally got e on everything a question communication.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: And again because because he's so relational and he see
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: me now making all these moves over here, he like, see,
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: ain't been in none of my speaking gigs, and were
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: talking on the phone every day. Don't get it twisted,
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: my son, godfather, we bro we all day with it.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: But again he like you, he's that's his love lanes.
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: He wants you to be like with me, like roll
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: out with me. And I wasn't doing that. I was
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: trying to go build those other things. Yeah, And I
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: was like, bro, I told I. I was like, bruh.
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: And so we finally, when you know, it all came
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: to a head. I was like, Bro, you do understand
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: I'm doing this for you, Bro, Like I'm trying to
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: make sure that you don't have to get up there
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: and be no caricature of yourself at eighty years old
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: talking about when you want to succeed, Like, Bro, you
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: ain't got to do that. I'm gonna make sure and
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: and I have gotten us to the point right now
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: where he don't ever have to give another speech again
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: and he will be set for life. I'm talking about
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: like not just set, like I don't have to do
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: nothing like go on the yacht, cruise the world, do
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: what you want to do, set. And that was important
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: to me because I saw other people who when they
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: were the sole breadwinner of the family, NFL players, NBA players, boxers,
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: et cetera, what happened when the main one go down? Everybody, Bro,
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: it literally is a trickle down effect. And I'm like,
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: I'm not gonna let that happen to us. My communication
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: to him about what I was doing in how.
- 1:31:27Speaker 7: In my vision it wasn't just communicating. Bro told you
- 1:31:30Speaker 7: Monsle King, he got about twelve people running with him.
- 1:31:33Speaker 7: You see Marla Kay, jesse Jah, jos Will and you ya,
- 1:31:37Speaker 7: all of them, Like he got a crew like they want.
- 1:31:40Speaker 7: When he got shot in Midmith, they was on this
- 1:31:42Speaker 7: porch with my man. So that was just my Malcolm
- 1:31:45Speaker 7: like boom, it's about five hundred million, like blah blah blah.
- 1:31:49Speaker 7: So for me, success looked like a village, a community,
- 1:31:54Speaker 7: a group. It didn't look like we gotta separate a
- 1:31:57Speaker 7: little bit and worry about the future, you know what
- 1:31:59Speaker 7: I'm saying. Like we went on that, so praise God.
- 1:32:02Speaker 7: My wife like him. She's like, he'll never got called
- 1:32:05Speaker 7: if he's doing all that to make sure we end
- 1:32:07Speaker 7: up egot. Let him do his thing. But for me,
- 1:32:09Speaker 7: as you read through the book, we're just sharing with
- 1:32:11Speaker 7: you the blueprint on Yes, we blew up.
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: But at the same time, there were some other things.
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: That I had to deal with in order to get
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: to Like dog.
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: I literally when we had the conversation, I was looking
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: at him like, brou are you serious right now? Like Bro,
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: like bruh, I've been here, Like I ain't flinched, not
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: one time, I'm talking about cats coming in, offering bread,
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: trying to get me out, the equation coming to him, all,
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: we'll give you ten million dollars. You just got to
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: get rid of cj ax, him out as a partner,
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: all of this other stuff. Bro, I've been here the
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: whole time, ain't flinched one time. So I felt like
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: I had earned enough good credit for him to know. Okay,
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm sure.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: She ain't on. He did.
- 1:32:47Speaker 7: My daddy had been there, yeah, right right right he did.
- 1:32:50Speaker 7: But you know when you daddy ain't in your life.
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: But I was hurt. Though I told my wife I
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: was hurt. I was like brouh.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: I was like, come on, bruh, like you know me
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: and you and again like you know how I feel
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: about money, You know how I feel about our families.
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: You know how I feel about your son, like my son,
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: my son, like your son, like we family for real.
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: But again I realized that my lack of communication allowed
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: that that you know, that devil on that shoulder on
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: each shoulder, to be like, oh see see moving on without.
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: Do you think?
- 1:33:18Speaker 6: I mean, you know, you experienced different things and you
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: watch movies, and all of the movies is the same. Like,
- 1:33:22Speaker 6: do you think that money and success breeds to paranoia,
- 1:33:25Speaker 6: because that's why you kind of become paranoia after a while,
- 1:33:28Speaker 6: where it's like one person crosses you then you don't
- 1:33:30Speaker 6: really know and you're looking at your your brother eventually
- 1:33:33Speaker 6: like you know what I'm saying, you're looking at him.
- 1:33:35Speaker 7: No question and not him like he don't think that
- 1:33:38Speaker 7: with me. But again, like you said, just me and
- 1:33:41Speaker 7: we'll talk about this movie. But New Jack City, that's.
- 1:33:43Speaker 9: What you jacksony real thing, you.
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: Like, a real thing, you know.
- 1:33:52Speaker 7: And so for me, yeah, so for me, I was
- 1:33:56Speaker 7: But the cool thing about it is my morals and
- 1:33:58Speaker 7: my beliefs and I relationships was the thing that had
- 1:34:02Speaker 7: me go ae. And it was funny because I talked
- 1:34:05Speaker 7: to my wife and my wife was like, oh, you know,
- 1:34:07Speaker 7: you wrong, And I was like, why would you say
- 1:34:09Speaker 7: I'm wrong? Because like, you don't even know that whatever.
- 1:34:11Speaker 7: She's like, you wrong because for two weeks you kept
- 1:34:14Speaker 7: it to yourself. You don't never keep nothing from ce,
- 1:34:16Speaker 7: so why would you keep it to yourself? So it
- 1:34:18Speaker 7: ain't nothing wrong with you thinking that you're human, but
- 1:34:20Speaker 7: it is something wrong with you don't keep nothing from him,
- 1:34:22Speaker 7: so why would you keep You don't know what they
- 1:34:24Speaker 7: doing from him? You know what I'm saying, Because now it,
- 1:34:26Speaker 7: for real was just us. So now you got Mall
- 1:34:28Speaker 7: in the picture, you got Josh in the picture. So
- 1:34:30Speaker 7: I'm seeing them.
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: Together, and for me, it's we always together. So it
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: ain't like the four of us. It's the three of them,
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: and I'm not in it. But it's the three of
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: them working.
- 1:34:40Speaker 7: On here what I'm saying. But he's saying relational, so
- 1:34:43Speaker 7: I'm not with them. But every time I look up,
- 1:34:45Speaker 7: they all together and they talking, and I'm like, man,
- 1:34:48Speaker 7: I wonder what's going on. It was so bad I
- 1:34:50Speaker 7: didn't even talk to my wife about it. That's how
- 1:34:53Speaker 7: I knew something was wrong. I never talked to her.
- 1:34:55Speaker 7: She's like, what's wrong?
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: And I was like nothing. She's like, who you talking to?
- 1:34:59Speaker 7: Like I see your swag, like you talked to see
- 1:35:02Speaker 7: for a couple of minutes, but you ain't go in
- 1:35:03Speaker 7: like what's wrong? And I'm like, what's nothing. She's like,
- 1:35:06Speaker 7: come on, nah, that's your guy. Y'all ain't got that kick?
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: What's up?
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: And I was like, man, I said he was?
- 1:35:11Speaker 7: And I seen him and I don't know, so I
- 1:35:13Speaker 7: ain't saying nothing because I don't know. And she's like, Okay,
- 1:35:15Speaker 7: it's cool, but go say something. And so I went
- 1:35:18Speaker 7: and talked to him, and that's when he was kind
- 1:35:19Speaker 7: of like, you know, he kind of went hard, you
- 1:35:22Speaker 7: know what I'm saying. And I was like, hey, point, well, taken,
- 1:35:26Speaker 7: I'm good. You ain't never got to worry about me.
- 1:35:27Speaker 7: Thinking now, our moves didn't change. I didn't switch game up.
- 1:35:31Speaker 7: I just in my mind was just like yo, I
- 1:35:33Speaker 7: don't know, and it.
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: Was just different.
- 1:35:35Speaker 7: It was like, imagine you always working with your quarterback,
- 1:35:39Speaker 7: and then now you got to you got a new
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: quarter new ride receiver, a new running back, and now.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: He telling it. You gotta go. You don't gotta make
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: it mess.
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: You can put it to y'all like if y'all y'all
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: built this together, and the imagine the opportunities start running
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: it and you go that way and you go that way.
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: Y'all still own the company together, but it's it's not
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: the same in terms of sitting down and doing it
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: like this. And I was okay with that.
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: He wasn't. I'm saying so, and that we just had
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: to talk the other day. It's about having an honest conversation.
- 1:36:04Speaker 9: They don't have to be uncomfortable, right every every every conversation.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: That's not about building your life, character development Jesus Christ
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: and changing people.
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: Life is uncomfortable. Used to be yeah, not no more,
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: like Bro.
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: We used to be in meetings and like, Bro, like
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: I would be the dame dash of the like, especially
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: when it was broke. I had an attitude like I
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: used to be pissed at everybody, and I would be
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: going off and he would seeing me, like get to
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: that level. He would be so uncomfortable he'd just walk
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: out the meeting like he was.
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: Like cool by y'all had changed?
- 1:36:36Speaker 4: No coo, bile, y'all in the room, no more.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: I'm out.
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: They getting into it, right, Bro?
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: I mean we started a company now, mind you Bluod
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: sweating tears.
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: We was broke.
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: We got people in the staff meeting like, we don't
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: feel like the work environment shop the work environment is,
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: I said, y'all work from home?
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: What you mean to work? Work? Like?
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: When we transitioned into like a come company, it was
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: us and how many people we got, how many people
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: that we had to work with us, now.
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: Forty three people.
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Like, so that changed for me,
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: and I didn't want to. I never signed up to
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: be nobody supervisor, like that wasn't my thing, and so
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: that kind of also put a, you know, a damper
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: on what we were trying to build. In my now,
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: these people are extremely talented and very important. Shout out
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: to everybody worked for ETA. I love every one of y'all.
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: But it changed the dynamics of how save one more time?
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: Saving one more time? Bruh.
- 1:37:29Speaker 4: I love everyone.
- 1:37:29Speaker 9: Hey listen, I know I love all of the bro
- 1:37:31Speaker 9: It's just different now.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: I got an email came through the other day apparently
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: we got a wellness reimbursement program. I'm like, wait, so
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: people go get besides this and I gotta pay for it.
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: It's just different, you know what I'm saying. And want
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: people to feel good and feel well. I'm saying so
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: look that that again. And I love everybody and they
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: play a great part in the company and building the company.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: But it changed. It wasn't just the ET and CJ
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: show anymore. So is it safe to say that you
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: were a greatly the great creator, not a great boss? Oh?
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: One hundred percent that I don't want to tell nobody
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: what to do. I don't want to be in charge
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: of your schedule. I don't just want to go get
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: the bad bro, I promise it. Now, we gotta sign
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: up for that. She do a great job of that.
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: I don't want to be telling people what it Steiny's
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: my creativity, Like my job is to build and create,
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: and I can't do that. Like I tell people all
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: the time, it'll be like I emailed you, I don't
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: check email. I don't do email. Bro, don't email me.
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: You got you either you got my number and we
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: cool enough to text, or I don't need like I
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: promise you, it's nothing.
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: Only reason I got a computer is because the pandemic
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: Nikki start making us do zoom stuff like with our podcast.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: I don't have no computer. So people like, oh, I
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: emailed you, Okay, that's how I know. I don't need
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: to fool with you. If you emailed that, you know
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like, I don't do that because again,
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: what happens is and I don't do calendars. I don't
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: do Google calendars. I don't do none of that because
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: some kind of way. If I fill my calendar with
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: a whole bunch of stuff, my brain just locks in
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: on that and it can't build nothing else. So I've
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: always been very so he talks about it. I've always
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: been very like particular about my space, because when I
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: get bogged down, I don't think as well. I don't
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: build companies. I don't you know, make the money. I
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: don't build the relationships. And so that was another part,
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: Like when we start having all these people and meetings
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: and I got banned from the staff meeting probably about
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: seven years ago. After one staff meeting, he was like, bro,
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: were about to get the move Bro.
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: I was firing off.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: I was killing everybody. I literally I felt.
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: I hung up the phone and like it rang right back,
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: and I know he was like, hey, you know he
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: he don't like the big confrontation. He's like, hey, you
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: know what, See, don't even worry about the staff meetings.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna take care of that.
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: I was like, thank you.
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: I ain't been on one since. I ain't been on
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: one since. But it just changed the dynamic up a
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: little bit. But again, you got to understand at that
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: same time that we kind of like we're doing our
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: separate thing. I got married, I had a kid, I
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: had another kid, I bought a house. My wife was
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: working like it was just I wasn't when we met.
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: I was single.
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: I was just like, yo, we run wherever. I'll sleep
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: in your basement. It's all good. And he wanted that
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: feeling the last forever.
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: And so hey, kid, ask.
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: Im like, BROI it turns out my wife actually wants
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: me to come home, so I gotta go.
- 1:40:08Speaker 6: Bro, so before we rather, let me tek you this
- 1:40:11Speaker 6: both you guys can say if you want, what is
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: somebody gonna get out of that book?
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: Like what do you want them to get? What do
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: you think that they think?
- 1:40:18Speaker 7: You know, I want people to stop, especially people of color,
- 1:40:24Speaker 7: to stop talking about all the things that are against
- 1:40:28Speaker 7: us and why they can't live the American dream. No father,
- 1:40:31Speaker 7: like my biological father was in my life, my mom,
- 1:40:33Speaker 7: and you know I'm married your father. Bro, I'm just
- 1:40:36Speaker 7: being real just because of the way it happened, we
- 1:40:38Speaker 7: never really got that emotional boy, and it was on me,
- 1:40:42Speaker 7: like you said, I'm the one I take I take
- 1:40:44Speaker 7: my l but I just homeless, high school drop out.
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: You know, I just went through a lot and for
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: a certain period of my life.
- 1:40:53Speaker 7: It was always about why they ain't doing this for me,
- 1:40:56Speaker 7: why this ain't working, why I can't live the American dream.
- 1:40:59Speaker 7: I just had a bunch of excuses. I just want
- 1:41:02Speaker 7: them to know, bro, when I woke up one day
- 1:41:03Speaker 7: and it's like, yoa, it is your life. You gotta
- 1:41:05Speaker 7: own it, bro, Like you got to own the fact
- 1:41:07Speaker 7: that your father wasn't there. You ain't the only one
- 1:41:08Speaker 7: who daddy was in your life. You ain't the only
- 1:41:10Speaker 7: one Mama who got pregnant at seventeen. You ain't the
- 1:41:12Speaker 7: only one from the hood. Like, you ain't the only.
- 1:41:14Speaker 4: One that had it. Bro.
- 1:41:15Speaker 7: You know what it's like, bro, having a father who
- 1:41:18Speaker 7: raised you. My mom you know she married. You know
- 1:41:20Speaker 7: what it's like having a father who's six 's eight.
- 1:41:22Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying, two hundred and fifty pounds
- 1:41:24Speaker 7: and everybody like, you know, that ain't your daddy, And
- 1:41:27Speaker 7: I'm like, it's got to be because my mom said
- 1:41:28Speaker 7: it was.
- 1:41:29Speaker 4: You know what it's like.
- 1:41:30Speaker 7: You know how it is on the on the block
- 1:41:31Speaker 7: or at school. The jokes is like, you know, people
- 1:41:34Speaker 7: go hard, bro, Like a joking is already joking. But
- 1:41:37Speaker 7: when somebody finds something, they going hard. My whole life,
- 1:41:40Speaker 7: CATS was coming at me because of my situation. So
- 1:41:43Speaker 7: I always had a reason for why my life ain't
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: where it's supposed to be. And I just was running
- 1:41:50Speaker 7: and hiding and like you said, didn't want to deal
- 1:41:52Speaker 7: with confrontation.
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: Didn't want to.
- 1:41:54Speaker 7: And I woke up one day seeing people fly first class,
- 1:41:56Speaker 7: seeing people by coastal, seeing people walk millions, seeing people
- 1:42:01Speaker 7: change people's lives, and I was like, E, you could
- 1:42:03Speaker 7: do that, but you can't do it until you own it.
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: And I want people to read this book.
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: Bump E.
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: Don't cadding about E. I want you to read this book.
- 1:42:11Speaker 7: I don't care if you read chapter one and you
- 1:42:13Speaker 7: feel like I'm taking full responsibility for my life. Stop
- 1:42:16Speaker 7: reading the book right after chapter one. If it takes
- 1:42:18Speaker 7: you to chapter three to go, I'm taking full ownership
- 1:42:21Speaker 7: of my life.
- 1:42:22Speaker 4: I don't care what chapter it takes. I just want
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: people to understand bruh.
- 1:42:29Speaker 7: Life got an expiration date on it, and you don't
- 1:42:31Speaker 7: know when it is Bruh Brad is better than human life.
- 1:42:34Speaker 7: At least you know when bread expires, Milk you know
- 1:42:37Speaker 7: when it expire. You don't know when you are pout
- 1:42:39Speaker 7: of here. We don't know if we out of here
- 1:42:41Speaker 7: this year, next year to yeat. So it's like Bruh says,
- 1:42:43Speaker 7: you don't live that long. Whatever you want, go get it,
- 1:42:46Speaker 7: but you cannot get it if you going CJ owe
- 1:42:50Speaker 7: me something, or the government owed me something, or the
- 1:42:53Speaker 7: president a bro. I don't care who in office. Obama
- 1:42:57Speaker 7: was in off. That's my man, fifty grand. I was like,
- 1:42:59Speaker 7: I ain't never think that was gonna happen. But I
- 1:43:01Speaker 7: never thought Obama was coming to one oh seven Waterbury
- 1:43:05Speaker 7: in Huntsville, Alabama.
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: And was gonna come and save me and my wife.
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: He was in the White House.
- 1:43:10Speaker 7: He wasn't about to come to Detroit Henry Ford, where
- 1:43:13Speaker 7: I went to school. He wasn't about to come to
- 1:43:15Speaker 7: Detroit and talk to those kids. So I woke up
- 1:43:17Speaker 7: one day and was like, YO, you can have whatever
- 1:43:19Speaker 7: you like, but you have to take personal responsibility.
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: You gotta own it.
- 1:43:23Speaker 7: And I'm gonna tell y'all something. Once you take responsibility
- 1:43:26Speaker 7: and you own it, can't nobody stop you. I'm talking
- 1:43:28Speaker 7: about like I watch y'all.
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: I'm proud of y'all, Like you got We didn't even
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: take our podcast at this level.
- 1:43:33Speaker 7: Why because we didn't own the podcast, like the podcast
- 1:43:36Speaker 7: was something was up, just like we're having fun.
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: It's a way for me to talk to me once
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: a week.
- 1:43:40Speaker 7: Since he got a wife and kid, you're gonna said,
- 1:43:43Speaker 7: at least the podcast a good hour and a half.
- 1:43:45Speaker 4: We could chop it up.
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: So we were just chilling on it.
- 1:43:47Speaker 7: But I look at what y'all done with the podcast
- 1:43:50Speaker 7: and the people y'all had and the dialogue, and when
- 1:43:53Speaker 7: you can literally watch y'all podcasts and go to work
- 1:43:56Speaker 7: like it's like going to college without going to college,
- 1:43:58Speaker 7: Like you can watch your lead and walk like yo, I'm.
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: An earned like we're owned. Take me, that's it.
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: Earn own it, take responsibility.
- 1:44:07Speaker 7: So I just want people to read the book and
- 1:44:09Speaker 7: from that day forth go, I'm counting on one human being.
- 1:44:13Speaker 7: I'm counting on one human being the rest of my life,
- 1:44:16Speaker 7: and that's the human I'm looking in the mirror. And
- 1:44:17Speaker 7: I can do and be and have whatever I want
- 1:44:20Speaker 7: if I make that person live up to that person's potential.
- 1:44:23Speaker 7: And if you could do that, that's all I want
- 1:44:25Speaker 7: from the book. And again, I am a poster child.
- 1:44:28Speaker 7: Love literally bit bro, no disrespect, but a lot of
- 1:44:32Speaker 7: hip hop artists they rap about stuff they ain't really
- 1:44:36Speaker 7: so when people feel like yo, E, I feel you
- 1:44:38Speaker 7: feel me because I was homeless. I know what it's
- 1:44:40Speaker 7: like not to have a daddy. I know what it's
- 1:44:42Speaker 7: like not being able to read the right on level like.
- 1:44:45Speaker 7: I know what it's like not to be able to comprehend.
- 1:44:47Speaker 7: I know what it's like to beats just let's say
- 1:44:49Speaker 7: stuff that ain't nothing like get twisted on work. I
- 1:44:52Speaker 7: know what it's like to feel stupid and dumb. I
- 1:44:54Speaker 7: know what it's like to live alone. Your mama ain't coming,
- 1:44:57Speaker 7: Your daddy ain't like you as homeless, you couldn't eat
- 1:45:00Speaker 7: bump that you are isolated, nobody loves you, you not
- 1:45:04Speaker 7: talking to nobody. You feel useless, You feel like the
- 1:45:07Speaker 7: scum of the earth. Your own daddy don't love you.
- 1:45:09Speaker 7: Your own daddy ain't coming from it. I ain't know
- 1:45:11Speaker 7: what it's like to be at the bottom. Not I
- 1:45:15Speaker 7: grew up in this, you know, urban community, at the
- 1:45:18Speaker 7: not that bottom like soul bottom, like spirit bottom, like
- 1:45:22Speaker 7: human bottom. I know what it's like to not brush
- 1:45:25Speaker 7: your teeth, not to have running water and be able
- 1:45:27Speaker 7: to take a bath and I'm telling you, if I
- 1:45:30Speaker 7: could get up from that in Jesus name and get
- 1:45:33Speaker 7: to where I am, you ain't got no excuse brouh.
- 1:45:36Speaker 9: It ain't none.
- 1:45:37Speaker 7: You could tell the authority comes from It ain't none.
- 1:45:39Speaker 7: You could tell me I'm not a good speaker. I
- 1:45:42Speaker 7: went from nothing to number one in the world. You
- 1:45:45Speaker 7: can't tell me that. If you take your life serious,
- 1:45:48Speaker 7: it ain't nothing you can't be or do. And so
- 1:45:51Speaker 7: you gotta read the book. Even if you don't want
- 1:45:53Speaker 7: to read it, you gotta read it because you gotta
- 1:45:54Speaker 7: help your boy. You know what I'm saying, get to
- 1:45:56Speaker 7: the next level.
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: So I need you to go. You owe you to go.
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: Get in the book. Yeah, man, hip hop preacher.
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: Thank y'all, thank you, thank you.
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: I gotta ask a question, right, said hip Hop? He
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: started with no questions, no question. I'm interested, no questions.
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: This hip hop Top five.
- 1:46:19Speaker 7: Hey, y'all young, forgive me, but y'all gotta show respect
- 1:46:23Speaker 7: to run DMC. Y'all wouldn't even be there without run DMC.
- 1:46:26Speaker 7: So don't give me all that pop can be run
- 1:46:29Speaker 7: DMC started it all off, all right, Now, this is
- 1:46:32Speaker 7: my wild card, this is my but I ain't never
- 1:46:35Speaker 7: seen no sixteen year old with the passionate energy LLL
- 1:46:38Speaker 7: cool J my radio.
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: I watched him live tougher than Leather.
- 1:46:43Speaker 11: I was.
- 1:46:43Speaker 8: I was in.
- 1:46:44Speaker 7: I was at the stadium watching my man do his thing.
- 1:46:48Speaker 7: Of course, pop because of what I'm into, Pop, Biggie
- 1:46:52Speaker 7: and my favorite. Just because I'm from the d you
- 1:46:55Speaker 7: gotta throw eminem and then I know y'all want to
- 1:46:57Speaker 7: hear that, but you gotta throw in in there because
- 1:47:01Speaker 7: for me, he created a He took something that was
- 1:47:03Speaker 7: already phenomenal and gave it a twist that nobody had
- 1:47:06Speaker 7: ever heard before.
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: And get I'm from eight Mile.
- 1:47:09Speaker 7: I'm sorry eight Mile, but I lived on eight mile,
- 1:47:11Speaker 7: which is a digital It is a digital, it is
- 1:47:14Speaker 7: a wealth, it is an academic divide. I lived on
- 1:47:17Speaker 7: this side of eight mile. The rich white Couca lived
- 1:47:20Speaker 7: on the other side of eight miles. So I understand
- 1:47:22Speaker 7: what he meant by eight mile, not just the street
- 1:47:24Speaker 7: because I lived on it, but culturally in Detroit, eight
- 1:47:27Speaker 7: miles separates the halves from the half nots. And then,
- 1:47:31Speaker 7: just like I said, trailer park, that's that whole concept
- 1:47:34Speaker 7: to me. One of those are my top five.
- 1:47:37Speaker 8: I'm gonna get you. I wanna get your too. Wins
- 1:47:39Speaker 8: and losses. The intro, oh who put that together? Was
- 1:47:43Speaker 8: that you see familiar what me was doing.
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: I didn't know what Meek was doing.
- 1:47:48Speaker 3: I didn't know what that's business.
- 1:47:50Speaker 7: I didn't know. You know, no, I knew Meek meaning
- 1:47:53Speaker 7: that we were at the super Bowl together. I never forget.
- 1:47:55Speaker 7: We were in the mall of the galleria and I
- 1:47:58Speaker 7: saw like eight to ten brus all walking. I'm like,
- 1:48:01Speaker 7: what in the world.
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: And I looked and I.
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: Saw Meet, and Meet saw him. He was like, what's up?
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: And we exchange. He was just like yo.
- 1:48:07Speaker 7: When I was, you know, locked up like you're I
- 1:48:10Speaker 7: listened to your stuff and I was like, wow, you
- 1:48:11Speaker 7: never know who is listening. But from that exchange, like
- 1:48:15Speaker 7: that was it like we kind of connected og. He
- 1:48:18Speaker 7: just come out, you know, had that energy. But I
- 1:48:20Speaker 7: didn't see it was just like, hey, what you want
- 1:48:22Speaker 7: to do From a financial standpoint, I was like, I see,
- 1:48:24Speaker 7: I'm just grateful that they're using I never knew it
- 1:48:27Speaker 7: would man, I never knew it would do. I never
- 1:48:29Speaker 7: knew that he put some heat on that. Yeah, I
- 1:48:32Speaker 7: never knew. So I guess I'm but the biggest.
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: One though, is to me already ready you know, just
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: you know they want to sign off on it.
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: What's the other group? Though?
- 1:48:40Speaker 7: Nobody talks about disclosure though after me I went to
- 1:48:44Speaker 7: got the money and Disclosure.
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: Did they think you know they don't do nothing but beat?
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: Yeah, So we made a lot of money from those boys.
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: You never know who you are, but listen, it was
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: so embarrassing. They so they did a big concert over
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: in Australia. Right, I'm so happened to be over there
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: in why Disclosure over there doing this set. It's thousands
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: of people that enjoyed. They're like, oh, we're gonna bring
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: it out and he gonna do the words like he
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: on there saying like when the fire Stars they burned,
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: he forgot the.
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: Worst the word I ain't never know the world. I
- 1:49:13Speaker 3: got to chaske him backstage.
- 1:49:15Speaker 4: I just got the check.
- 1:49:16Speaker 9: I was like, hey, you know it right?
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: He was like yeah, what you say?
- 1:49:20Speaker 9: And then it was like e T he's a rent
- 1:49:21Speaker 9: out there. And then he's like it got to his part.
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: He's just like let's go.
- 1:49:27Speaker 7: Let's cause like they know what happened was though they
- 1:49:30Speaker 7: took some off YouTube, but they mixed it, so they.
- 1:49:33Speaker 4: Didn't have it just like I said, they.
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: Switched it up, bro, so it was the same album verse.
- 1:49:39Speaker 13: Whatever, let's go on, let's go on, he was, we're
- 1:49:44Speaker 13: still getting the check. I must have done okay because
- 1:49:47Speaker 13: they brought me back to do three things live in the.
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: Studio and recording, so let's go. Yeah, they did screw more,
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: so let's gotta get your five. Man.
- 1:49:56Speaker 2: Well, you know, I'll be remiss about it. I gotta
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: start with with my son told me we played as
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: his father. I would be, you know, be trouble at
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: the house if I didn't say him. Biggie is my
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: favorite rapper of all time. Man, I'm just a big fan.
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: Again.
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: I don't know what best you know all of that,
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: but big whole probably second part, uh and fifth I
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: would say if we put tebe Niggas, I got to uh.
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: I know y'all gonna hate me, but I gotta go.
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: Me and Alex gonna go Drizzy all day.
- 1:50:30Speaker 9: You know.
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: First of all, you know Drizzy is a representative of
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: the half white Okay, you know what I'm saying. Let
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: just be honest about my bike and we are you
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: know what I man, I grew up. You know, a
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: mixed kid too, So it's good to see him and
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: we're gonna.
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: See that we're just talking about just pure.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: Boding community, you know what I'm saying. You know, we
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: we've been you know, suppressed for a while, but Drake
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: got us on top.
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: I look, hey, listen, I know a lot of people
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: too hard core to say Drake, but I promise you
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: I love everything Drake do.
- 1:50:59Speaker 4: So I would say Drake is in my top five
- 1:51:02Speaker 4: for sure.
- 1:51:02Speaker 6: It's definitely, it's encouraging, it's inspiring. You never know who
- 1:51:05Speaker 6: you're gonna impact enough to get Jim Jones. So Jim
- 1:51:09Speaker 6: is somebody who was an interesting person because on the
- 1:51:11Speaker 6: outside you look at Jim and you're thinking, like, you know,
- 1:51:13Speaker 6: a gangst the rapper or a tough guy, super tough guy.
- 1:51:16Speaker 6: But he's actually a really good dude and we've gotten
- 1:51:19Speaker 6: a chance to know him. Yeah, and last year we
- 1:51:21Speaker 6: did in Best Fest. Last year we had less Brown
- 1:51:23Speaker 6: VIP night. He was telling him and he was like, nah,
- 1:51:27Speaker 6: he was like, yo, he changed my life. He was like,
- 1:51:29Speaker 6: when I was a kid, I was in a like
- 1:51:31Speaker 6: duven out dissension or something like that. And he's like
- 1:51:34Speaker 6: they made the kids go to Madison Square Guard and
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: then watch Less Brown.
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:51:37Speaker 6: He was like, change his life for a few different reasons.
- 1:51:39Speaker 6: He was like, A, he never heard a black man
- 1:51:42Speaker 6: speak like that, yeah, And B he was like, so
- 1:51:45Speaker 6: he Madison Square Guarden was sold out, he wasn't singing,
- 1:51:48Speaker 6: he wasn't dancing.
- 1:51:49Speaker 9: Wow.
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: He was like to see eighteen thousand people there for
- 1:51:52Speaker 3: a black man. He was like, so we made the connection.
- 1:51:55Speaker 6: He got a chance to actually speak to him on
- 1:51:57Speaker 6: his zone, and then he got a chance to meet
- 1:51:58Speaker 6: him in person.
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: He was like, yo, bro, like, you don't know how
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: much this means to me. Yeah.
- 1:52:04Speaker 6: So I say that to say, I'm sure that there
- 1:52:07Speaker 6: is somebody that's you know what I'm saying, multiple thousands,
- 1:52:09Speaker 6: millions of people that same story, Like you know, you
- 1:52:13Speaker 6: never know, you never know who you're impacting.
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: But I'm encouraged, I'm inspired.
- 1:52:18Speaker 6: So I'm pretty sure every single person that's hearing this,
- 1:52:22Speaker 6: And this is the good thing about what I do, Like,
- 1:52:24Speaker 6: I feel like wording is very important. So we stopped
- 1:52:27Speaker 6: calling it a podcast. A long time ago. Dame had
- 1:52:29Speaker 6: told us that actually he's like, don't call it a podcast,
- 1:52:32Speaker 6: And I feel like this is like a historical archive.
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: Question, especially on the level of y'all doing it, Like yeah,
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: we're still just doing the pod.
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: Yeah, we doing this. Yeah, but like twenty years from
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: now undred like you know, we went to each of them.
- 1:52:49Speaker 6: We saw the aeroglyphs on the wall, and it feel like,
- 1:52:52Speaker 6: you know, when they look at this moment in history
- 1:52:54Speaker 6: twenty twenty two and recorded history one hundred years from now,
- 1:52:57Speaker 6: they'll look at this and they'll say that this is
- 1:52:59Speaker 6: a moment history. These are very important people in history
- 1:53:02Speaker 6: to help change the course of history. So I want
- 1:53:05Speaker 6: to thank you brothers for coming.
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: I keep killing it right up, keep killing.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: I see y'all got Hopefully we're getting King James on.
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: I heard you know what I'm saying Lebron saying. If
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: you're watching, yeah, you know he loves you to life.
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: Now I go, yeah, Brown number one all day. You
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Shout out to my brown face.
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: Wise man.
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: We argue. That's all we do on our podcast.
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: I'm from the South Side.
- 1:53:30Speaker 4: It ain't even no argument, bro in the shot.
- 1:53:32Speaker 3: We know the deal. We know what we rock right
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: with Brown all day.
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: But yeah, y'all, y'all keep killing seriously, man's watch since
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: the way back when you know, Alex was on the
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: pile he put me on, was like, yo, you gotta
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: check these dudes out. Been watching ever since. Of course
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: y'all had you know, my my favorite human in the world,
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: Nikki on there. Y'all just keep doing your thing, man,
- 1:53:51Speaker 2: because I think for real, sky is the limit, Like
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: y'all gonna you know, obviously you're already killing it, but
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: y'all gonna go even for the new question.
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: And we had we you know, we all because of
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: who we are, having choice.
- 1:54:02Speaker 7: And when I heard about, of course, the podcast, I
- 1:54:04Speaker 7: was like, I gotta wait for something, like I just
- 1:54:06Speaker 7: can't get in here and talk like they're so big
- 1:54:08Speaker 7: time and they reached so many people. I gotta make
- 1:54:11Speaker 7: sure it's historic, you know. And so for me, it
- 1:54:13Speaker 7: was like, yo, I gotta the book. If we're gonna
- 1:54:16Speaker 7: be on, gotta release that here. So I just want
- 1:54:19Speaker 7: to thank y'all for creating the type of space that
- 1:54:21Speaker 7: we have somewhere to come to and we ain't got
- 1:54:24Speaker 7: to go somewhere else to go and blow.
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: Our stuff up. So I appreciate that. Make the book
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: a New York Times bestseller, that's gonna happened.
- 1:54:31Speaker 6: All I educated is the schools, the school at least
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: one hundred copies for the kids, all the coaches, copies
- 1:54:40Speaker 6: for the teams trying to buy and both.
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, all this out there. Yeah, already got relationships
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: with the leads and yeah, oh yeah, we're working on
- 1:54:47Speaker 3: all of that. Bro, We're working on all of that.
- 1:54:49Speaker 4: As you can see. Shout out to my boys CP
