- 0:01Welcome to Rick and That Michelle Chick, the weekly
- 0:05podcast where your hosts, Rick and Michelle, confidently dive
- 0:10into topics they know absolutely nothing about and somehow make
- 0:15it sound legit. They're not experts.
- 0:17They're not qualified. Honestly, they barely googled
- 0:20it. So grab a drink, lower your
- 0:23expectations, and let's pretend this counts as content.
- 0:28So buckle up. Facts are optional, but the
- 0:31bullshit? That's premium grade.
- 0:34This is Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:41Will you have some good news that you want to discuss?
- 0:44I I do as well. So you go first with your good
- 0:47news because I think, I think one of mine's going to be long
- 0:50Maybe. I don't know.
- 0:51Who knows? I, one of the things we talked
- 0:53have talked about before in the podcast is I have this once I
- 0:57decide I like something, then I then I'm all in, right.
- 1:00That's just kind of my personality.
- 1:02So, so you know, sadly, I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan.
- 1:05I shouldn't have to make excuses for the Dallas Cowboys, but I do
- 1:07make excuses for the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:10So if I, so if I become a, if I'm a fan of something, then I'm
- 1:13then I'm a real fan And, and you and there's nothing you can say
- 1:16or do that's going to change me. So, you know, I like Pepsi over
- 1:21Coke. And so when I go to restaurants,
- 1:25I always say, Hey, do you have Coke or Pepsi products?
- 1:27And if they say, oh, we have Coke, I have a Sprite, you see
- 1:29me do it? Yes, yeah, I do the same thing.
- 1:31Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so, so I mean, so for me,
- 1:34once I pick something, it's usually my usually my lane.
- 1:36And one of the things through the years that I have always
- 1:39been made fun, not necessarily made fun of, but people have
- 1:41always went what they just didn't understand.
- 1:44So I'll, I'll ask you really quick, do you do you have a
- 1:49favorite musical artist of all time?
- 1:51Yes. Have we talked about it?
- 1:55Yes, and you. Nobody ever knows who they are
- 1:58or remembers who they are. Keen Remember the British band?
- 2:02Yeah, yeah. So that really that truly, let's
- 2:05just put it into perspective, that truly is your favorite
- 2:08above Taylor Swift, above anything from high school,
- 2:12anything from, you know, I am familiar with them.
- 2:14Yes, like we, I flew to Los Angeles to see them in concert
- 2:20because that was the closest to they were going to be on their
- 2:24last tour. OK.
- 2:26Well, good. I don't.
- 2:26I got nothing else to say. I can't beat that.
- 2:30I mean, I mean, hey, you pay for your comic books and that kind
- 2:35of stuff and like, this is my Comic Con, so to speak.
- 2:39I. Guess so I think about what I'm
- 2:42going to say. What makes it unique is most
- 2:45people, let's just say like Bob Seger or they like Journey or
- 2:49they like Styx or they like, you know, Taylor Swift.
- 2:52Well, those people tour like non-stop, like like even being a
- 2:57big. They're like mainstream people.
- 2:59Yeah, but but even from a a, a great example is my number two
- 3:03favorite of all time is Toto. And I've seen, I've seen Toto a
- 3:06ton of times because they're out on the road.
- 3:08They're going to be out this summer with Christopher Cross
- 3:11and the Romantics. So that was just announced.
- 3:13And then I just saw him last year with Men At Work,
- 3:16Christopher Cross and Toto. Now, it was funny back in 2007,
- 3:22I saw them in Spokane in a club of 600 people.
- 3:25This is before 'cause remember, Africa went viral again.
- 3:29So they couldn't, so Toto couldn't get arrested in America
- 3:32for like 20 years. Like, and so I was at this, I
- 3:35went to this thing and it was, I'd, I'd never seen Toto live
- 3:38and I paid $25 and it was a club in Spokane and, and it's called
- 3:44the Knitting Factory. It's called the Knitting
- 3:46Factory. Oh yeah, I know the knitting,
- 3:47but it's a. Bar Club and they could barely,
- 3:51I mean it could barely fill let's say 600 people in there
- 3:54and it wasn't and it and it and it wasn't even full.
- 3:56I literally walked right to the front of the you know, so I have
- 3:59a photo of Steve Lucas there and Bobby Kimball agme and I
- 4:02literally went right to the front to snap a picture for 25
- 4:05bucks. I was by myself.
- 4:06Nobody was with me. No one wanted, nobody wanted to
- 4:09go with me if. You can find a date to go.
- 4:11Yeah, no one wanted to see Toto with me, so the So this is not
- 4:14what this is about, but it just puts into perspective.
- 4:17So if you want to see your favorite band, for the most part
- 4:20they always tour most people's favorite band.
- 4:22I don't know about Keene, Do they tour a lot?
- 4:25They just said their 20th anniversary.
- 4:28I mean, they're from Britain and so.
- 4:30They 2 are more in Europe. Over there, yes and so when they
- 4:34do come here, it's hit in this or it's only a month so.
- 4:38Yeah, so you can, so you can relate.
- 4:40So the exciting news I have for you at least, at least it was a
- 4:43Merry Christmas for me, is all the the the four original
- 4:47members of Mr. Mr. got back together and they performed
- 4:50Broken Wings. So it's the 40th anniversary
- 4:52this month, Broken Wings went #1 and it's the 40th anniversary.
- 4:56And so they decided to get back together or they're not back to
- 4:59get, but they decided to do a one off video.
- 5:03All original members, you know, much, much grayer, much wider,
- 5:07more more balding. But what was so crazy about the
- 5:11my favorite band Mr. Mr. was they they had the 2.
- 5:15They had big hit. They had like for one year they
- 5:17had three big hits, right? You know, they had Broken Wings,
- 5:20they had Curie and they had Is it Love and the, and their album
- 5:24went #1 the album was #1 Welcome to the Real World.
- 5:26That was, you know, and then they literally just imploded.
- 5:29Like the next album had a, a song called Something Real that
- 5:32was top 29. And then that was it.
- 5:35They then they had problems in the band and they, they
- 5:37basically just, they broke up. So there was only that about a
- 5:41year and a half or maybe if you were lucky, 2 years where you
- 5:45could see, you could see them out on tour basically.
- 5:48And so I remember hearing this commercial, I never got to go
- 5:52see him, but there was a commercial that was running for
- 5:55the Beasley Coliseum, or it was Seattle and they were opening up
- 5:57for Tina Turner. And so I remember being 15 years
- 6:01old and going, Oh my gosh, I want to go see that show, 16
- 6:04years old. Of course, being a poor kid, I
- 6:06never got to, I never got to, to, to see him ever, ever live.
- 6:10And then and then they literally just went away like.
- 6:13Yeah, they just kind of fell off the face of the earth.
- 6:15Basically and, and, and they've and they've all been in other
- 6:18bands. So it's not like they, they
- 6:20didn't stop working, but they just wanted, they just went
- 6:24their own separate ways. And so and they just didn't
- 6:27tour. Like it wasn't one of those
- 6:29things. Richard Page, the lead singer is
- 6:31a, is a big songwriter. So that's what he did after Mr.
- 6:34Mr. Is, he wrote Madonna's song I'll Remember, which was a big
- 6:37hit, big number one hit for Madonna.
- 6:39He wrote that for her and he wrote for Céline Dion.
- 6:42He wrote for the list just goes on and on.
- 6:44So he just didn't tour. Like he he just didn't tour.
- 6:47And so and people would always ask him and he's like, he's
- 6:50like, no, he goes, we had this little blip, this little blip of
- 6:55time. He goes, it's not enough to tour
- 6:57on. He goes, he goes.
- 6:58I don't desire to be an the the third opening act.
- 7:03Well, I mean no, I mean. I mean.
- 7:05He's real, he's realistic about it.
- 7:07He's like, he's like, we had our moment.
- 7:09We played stadiums for that two years there.
- 7:12One one big show was the Bengals and Mr. Mr. Touring.
- 7:16Oh wow. That would have been a cool
- 7:18show. Yes.
- 7:19Right. So and and and they and then
- 7:21again, they opened for Don Henley, they opened for Harden,
- 7:23they opened for Tina Turner. I mean, so they were they had
- 7:26their like you said, they had their little brief moment son.
- 7:28And so they were always realistic about about the fact
- 7:32that and then they just didn't get back together.
- 7:34Like they liked each other, but there was like, we're not
- 7:36getting back together. Oh, it wasn't like an eagle
- 7:38situation where they all. Just well between.
- 7:40Each other for. A while no between the
- 7:42guitarist. So the guitarist did leave.
- 7:44Steve Ferris did leave the band. And so in 1990 they did an album
- 7:50and the record company wouldn't release it.
- 7:52So there was there was a final Mr. Mr. album and in 2020, Oh
- 7:58no, 2010 they did finally release it after like like 20
- 8:02years later, they released it on And so, but they and then they
- 8:06had talked about, Oh, well, maybe we'll tour.
- 8:08And they, and there was a word, there was word that they're
- 8:10going to be with Tears For Fears, level 40, Level 42 Tears
- 8:14For Fears and Mr. Mr. Co headlining would have that would
- 8:17have been a cool tour right that.
- 8:18Would have, yes. But but Richard Page is the lead
- 8:21singer of of the band. Got offered to be in Ringo's All
- 8:24Star band. So for seven years, he was in
- 8:28Ringo's All Star band singing the two big hits.
- 8:31Because that's the cool thing about Ringo's band is you come
- 8:33play your hits. And so.
- 8:36Yeah, so. So, yeah.
- 8:38So to me, so having them all back together is like #1 having
- 8:43the original guitarist who had left the band, right And and
- 8:47then they got back together. So they, they did a big video.
- 8:50I'm hoping they'll do some more. They they definitely and they
- 8:53did AQ and a for the fans and the, and, and they're like,
- 8:55what's new music? Let's tour.
- 8:57And they're like, we're like, no.
- 8:58They're like no. They're like, we're too old.
- 9:01We don't. No, they're yeah 'cause they're
- 9:03in their mid what, early? They're in their early 70s.
- 9:05I was going to say they have to be late 60s.
- 9:07Yeah, they're early, early 70s and I and I like what he and
- 9:10like what Richard Page said. He just says he just goes, hey,
- 9:13we had our blip and he goes grateful.
- 9:15It's awesome, you know, we had that moment in time.
- 9:18But he goes, he goes. I just don't have a desire to be
- 9:19at the State Fair. Right.
- 9:22I mean, at least he's realistic about it.
- 9:24But all these 80, like you just said, you've seen Toto Men At
- 9:29Work, all these 80s artists that we grew up with and love, They
- 9:33had the audience. Like we all had that disposable
- 9:36income now and we have to relive our youth and we want to go see
- 9:40them and they have the 80s cruises and the 90s cruises.
- 9:45And so I could see them doing something like that.
- 9:48Yeah, they're. So they do just a big like 80s
- 9:50festival on the island, like 80s artists.
- 9:53Well, yeah, so they so so Richard Page himself, he does a
- 9:56lot of charity work. So he so he he will come and do
- 9:59the the two big, basically the two big songs.
- 10:02You know, I mean he so he you see him, it's not like he's not
- 10:05done anything. He just right.
- 10:07It's just not like a full blown he's put out two or right, he's
- 10:10put out albums through the years, but you know, they're
- 10:13very they're very few and far between.
- 10:15And it's one of those things he's not a big social media guy
- 10:18at all. So it's like he very seldom ever
- 10:20seen on social media. But but to get those four back
- 10:23together for my Christmas present?
- 10:26Merry Christmas. You know I still.
- 10:28Don't know why they haven't invited me yet.
- 10:29Come on man, invite me to the when they do get together so.
- 10:34I'm surprised that Richard Page doesn't have a restraining word
- 10:37against you by now. I know, I know, so it's so.
- 10:39It's so fun. So there's the the the good
- 10:41humor. I mean, for me, that was the
- 10:43Christmas present. Now you, I mean, it is like they
- 10:47say never meet your idols. But I mean, I actually have met
- 10:50him, you know, multiple, multiple times when he got into
- 10:54Ringo's band. Right, that's why we've talked
- 10:57about meeting people on a past podcast and like who's our
- 11:01favorite meet and greet are and. So, so, yeah, so I've, so I've,
- 11:04so I've got to, to meet him at four times at Ringo, you know,
- 11:10and along with Steve Lukather of Toto a couple times.
- 11:12That was, that's the highlight. I mean, for me, that's the
- 11:14highlight of my, my life period. That's the gravy on top.
- 11:17I even told back in, back in 2008 when I finally got to, to,
- 11:21to interview Richard Page, I said, I told Cheryl, our old GMI
- 11:25said, OK, that's it. I could, I'm done.
- 11:28I've been to the mountain for me, you know, and so anyway, it
- 11:31was just cool to it was just cool to see them back together
- 11:34doing even if they're doing a couple songs.
- 11:36And that was my Christmas present.
- 11:38So go check it out. I got it on my Facebook.
- 11:39It's probably on my Instagram. And the cool thing is he does it
- 11:44in the original key. Oh nice.
- 11:46Like so so because. Because the cool thing about
- 11:49having not toured for 30 years or 40 years, guess what?
- 11:54That voice is intact, great. And he even talks and even talk
- 11:57not not, he's not, he's not, he's not egotistical about it.
- 12:01But he's also says that's his biggest fear is his voice.
- 12:03He's like, he's like, he goes, I'm afraid I'm going to wake up
- 12:051 morning and it's going to be gone.
- 12:07And you hear great performers like Steve Perry.
- 12:11You know, I love the new Steve Perry album, but I'm like, boy,
- 12:14that voice is, you know, or I or I hear, I hear other artists
- 12:17from that period that I love so much.
- 12:20And it's not the same because, but that's because it's the
- 12:23concert touring. Right, which I saw Jordan Sparks
- 12:27was just on I it wasn't Jimmy Kimmel.
- 12:30I'm not sure what it was, but I was watching.
- 12:32But she was talking about after she won American Idol and how
- 12:35the how they just have to tour so much and the pressure is on
- 12:39to just go, go, go, go, go. And she just finally wore out
- 12:43her voice to the point where she couldn't sing any keys and it
- 12:46really scared her so. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:48I get that when they, yeah. No.
- 12:50So it's so, yeah. So it's one of those.
- 12:51It's just. Bread and butter so.
- 12:53Well, I've always thought about that from, from from a radio
- 12:56standpoint, because you and I, you know, been in radio forever
- 13:00and we just had another layoff at Town Square Media.
- 13:02I'm like, oh geez. Oh no, another one.
- 13:05Another late not not in our building, but elsewhere.
- 13:07I'm like, oh geez, there's hardly.
- 13:09Any people left to like? I know, I know, and I and I, and
- 13:11I always think that for me, I've got, I, I look at it like from
- 13:16a, from a, so I could retire hypothetically, worst case
- 13:20scenario, 62. I mean, that's worst case
- 13:23scenario. Then there's 65 and then
- 13:25there's, and then there's 70. And so I would love for the
- 13:29voice. I mean to, I mean, number one,
- 13:31I'm a poor DJ or just jockey. So I mean, I've got a little bit
- 13:35of savings and a little bit of four O 1K that I've done myself,
- 13:38but no one, no one ever matched MY4O1K or any of the you know,
- 13:41it's all, it's all what I've done.
- 13:43And so and so my biggest fear more than anything else is,
- 13:48well, what if my voice does go and I, and you already know,
- 13:51Michelle, I my biggest advantage not, not that I have a great
- 13:55radio voice. It's not about having a great
- 13:56radio voice. I still sound like I'm 25 years
- 13:59old. I was going to say, you sound
- 14:00young. That's your advantage.
- 14:03That that has been the ultimate 100% advantage, not deep voice,
- 14:09none of the the regular radio stuff and you can talk fast,
- 14:13right? I truly sound super, super or
- 14:18young, well, younger than what I am at 50.
- 14:20I'm going to be what I'll be 56 And, and I've had so many people
- 14:24go, Oh my God, you're not 56 or, or you know, there's a, they
- 14:27can't believe that because when they hear me on the air, they're
- 14:31like, well, he sounds, he sounds young.
- 14:32So it's interesting when I talk about Logan, that's 30.
- 14:34Logan's going to be 32. And but, but again, I understand
- 14:40like you look at like a Ryan Seacrest who's now what pushing
- 14:43is he mid 50s now He's getting there.
- 14:45He's over 50 at least, or he's close.
- 14:47Yeah, he has to be. He's close to be in his 50s.
- 14:50You know, but he. 50s. But he but he's got he's got way
- 14:53he's got way more gruel than gruel grind than than I do
- 14:57because I don't have to care about my looks.
- 15:00Yes, which I just saw him on Good Morning America this
- 15:05morning and I thought, but he's looking old but.
- 15:09But what? But he's got to do a lot.
- 15:11Yeah, I mean, you could tell he has like some, he has filler or
- 15:14something. Yeah.
- 15:15He just doesn't look right anymore.
- 15:17You know when you have stuff done and you just don't look
- 15:21right? You want to have stuff done to
- 15:23the point where you can't tell that you've had stuff.
- 15:25Done right. Oh yeah.
- 15:27That is the goal. I think of people like Dana
- 15:30Delany. The actress looks absolutely
- 15:33amazing like that. She's incredible.
- 15:35And then and then, is it Joy Behar from the view?
- 15:41From the View, yeah, she's yeah, I was going to say she, I she is
- 15:4580 years old. And she looks, yeah.
- 15:48And she's like, she's there. Oh yeah, yeah, she can fire off
- 15:521 liners left and right still where sometimes I struggle to
- 15:57get out a damn sentence. Yes.
- 15:59I love her because I'm like and I'm like, man, she's 80.
- 16:02What would wouldn't that be cool to be 80 and be be that on it on
- 16:06it? So anyway, that was my Christmas
- 16:08present to me. I didn't need any cash.
- 16:11It's just cool to see it happen And and I hope they do more.
- 16:15But again, there's no promise that they're going to do more
- 16:17any of those different things. And and RP is so picky to even
- 16:21talks about. You know, he doesn't want to
- 16:23release anything unless it's perfect.
- 16:24And us fans are like, I'm nothing.
- 16:26Can be perfect though you. Can I know us fans are like,
- 16:30yeah, us fans, you know how fans are?
- 16:32Just put it out there. Yeah, you're just clamoring for
- 16:35more music. You don't care.
- 16:37It could sound like shit, probably.
- 16:38You guys don't believe it? Probably, absolutely.
- 16:41I'm sure you know, I mean, so anyway, there you go.
- 16:44That's a little little Christmas thing for me.
- 16:46And and, and I don't know why, when I wrote my book, I don't
- 16:49know why I didn't mention Mr. Mr. I should have.
- 16:52That's surprising. I know I I.
- 16:54Surprised you didn't. Well, it was more of a love
- 16:56letter to my foster parents, but my foster family there's.
- 16:59Really something do you have, do you have something with Mr. Mr.
- 17:04that correlates with them that you could have wrote about or
- 17:07was that later in life, Mr. Mr. Recall it was so funny.
- 17:10I do recall going over to my foster mom's house.
- 17:12I was what 1516 and I remember I had I had a little 45
- 17:16collection, right And she had a record player.
- 17:18So I get to play my my music and I do remember one time she came
- 17:22home and I was playing Billy Vera and the beaters at this
- 17:25moment. And my foster mom goes that she
- 17:29goes, she goes Virgil. That's the most depressing song
- 17:31I've ever heard. That was from Remember that was
- 17:35popular from Family Ties. Yes.
- 17:37Yeah, you know, so that's where. But I love that.
- 17:39I do love that song, but man, you want to be depressed.
- 17:43Yeah, Billy Vera at this moment. So anyway, that's that's one of
- 17:46the songs I I, you know, that I have the recollection of my
- 17:49foster mom going Virgil. That's like the most depressing
- 17:52song I've ever heard. So anyway, so and now I know
- 17:56you've got some good news. Let's hear your good news.
- 17:58I do. I'll say my Christmas miracle.
- 18:01Let me start with the. 1st I know what's happening here.
- 18:04Oh, Christmas miracle. Now I know where we're going.
- 18:06Well, so first good news is we caught that Mama cat.
- 18:10I know that, I just knew the minute you said that.
- 18:13Well, there's another Christmas miracle after this, so yes.
- 18:16So we trapped the Mama cat, which we have been trying to
- 18:19trap her for weeks. If you've listened to past
- 18:21podcast, we trapped her, we found out she had kittens.
- 18:26I'll just like condense it. We found out she had kittens.
- 18:28We had to re release her. We found the kittens, we got the
- 18:31kittens and then we were having trouble trapping her because she
- 18:34knows the trap now. I went and got a drop trap,
- 18:38which is the one where you like, set it up, pull the rope, but
- 18:41you have to be out. You have to be there physically.
- 18:44I went and got one of those traps from one of the ladies in
- 18:48the rescue that we foster for. So pick that up last week and
- 18:52all weekend we were out there with this drop trap.
- 18:56No sign of her. No sign of her at all all
- 18:59weekend. Then yesterday the coffee girls
- 19:03text me and they're like she is sitting out.
- 19:06So she used to sit outside the window and they would feed her
- 19:10because I left food for them. After we found out she had
- 19:13kittens and we re released her and they were feeding her for
- 19:16me. Well, she started learning that
- 19:18they had food and she would sit out and stare at them in the
- 19:22windows. And so she was there yesterday
- 19:25staring at them. And so I ran down with the
- 19:29traditional trap thinking, OK, if she's hungry, hungry enough,
- 19:34maybe she'll go in this trap, right?
- 19:36Oh no, she did the same thing where she goes to the back and
- 19:39she tries to get the food, but she would not go near the
- 19:43entrance of this trap. So I go home, I pick up the drop
- 19:46trap. I had a dentist appointment at 2
- 19:49yesterday. So I set up the drop trap.
- 19:51She sees me setting up the drop trap.
- 19:54She is over where this dumpster is and there's a stump.
- 19:57She's sitting on the stump watching me set up this drop
- 20:01trap. And then I get in my car and I
- 20:03have the window down. With the rope, because I'm
- 20:04thinking, OK, she's not going to see me sitting in my car.
- 20:07No, she stays on that stump the entire time.
- 20:11And then I have to go to my dentist appointment.
- 20:13So Shelly comes, my daughter, she comes and so I pull away and
- 20:17she stays there. Well, it must have been because
- 20:20my car left. I'm sitting in the dentist chair
- 20:23and I feel my watch like vibrate, vibrate, vibrate and I
- 20:26know something's like happening but I can't look at it right.
- 20:30You know them in the dentist chair.
- 20:34Well, Shaylee caught her after I left.
- 20:36She went under the drop trap. Shaylee pulled the rope and it
- 20:41fell on her. She didn't freak out, she was
- 20:43just scared. Well, then you have to try and
- 20:45get them into the smaller crate out of the big drop trap.
- 20:49There's two little doors, one on the drop trap, one on the crate,
- 20:53and so you kind of like match them up.
- 20:55And anyway, usually it takes two people to do this.
- 20:58Oh no Shaylee like got her in by herself.
- 21:01So this all happened while I'm at the dentist.
- 21:04She trapped her, got her in the transfer cage and was home by
- 21:08the time I was done at the dentist.
- 21:10I love it. Yes which Shaylee?
- 21:13She is the cat whisperer so it is probably good that it was her
- 21:18because she is cool as a cucumber under pressure.
- 21:22Like I swear she should be an ER doctor where I probably would
- 21:25have been like the adrenaline probably would have kicked in
- 21:27because we would we, we get one shot with this drop trap.
- 21:31Otherwise she is going to also know what this trap is and we're
- 21:35going to be back to square 1. I don't know what we would have
- 21:38used to try and catch her. We would have been out of luck I
- 21:40guess. So yes, we trapped her.
- 21:44She is scared. Luckily she's not freaking out,
- 21:48she's not aggressive. She did kind of growl at Shaylee
- 21:51a little bit this morning, but I think that's just because she's
- 21:54still scared and doesn't know what the heck's going on.
- 21:56And anyway, so yay, we have her, we find.
- 22:00She's at your house. Yes, she is yeah.
- 22:02So we have a house full. We have her two kitties, We have
- 22:05her, we have our other two fosters that I've had for two
- 22:08years that we can't find a home for because they're older
- 22:11bonded, which they are up on our highlights in our Instagram if
- 22:15anybody would like to check them out and adopt them, FYI.
- 22:18So, so yeah, we are our, the inn is full basically at our House
- 22:23of fosters and cats and animals and, and the kitties had fleas.
- 22:28So I had to take them to the vet because, you know, they have to
- 22:31be a certain weight in order to have the medicine that goes on
- 22:35their back. And I wasn't, they were not at
- 22:37the weight. And so I took them to the vet
- 22:39and luckily by the time I took them to the vet the next day,
- 22:43somehow they were like 1 LB point 2 oz like barely over the
- 22:48weight limit for this flea medicine.
- 22:50And the vet, he gave it to them and he was like, I'll go double
- 22:54check because even he was a little bit worried that they
- 22:56were not of the right weight to have this flea medicine.
- 22:59But they were fine. Got the flea medicine, no
- 23:02problems. So we assume Mama cat has fleas
- 23:06and so we have to isolate her because we don't want everyone
- 23:10in our household getting fleas. Yeah, that would be like crazy.
- 23:15So yeah, so finally, we finally caught her.
- 23:19Now we have to get the flea medicine on her today.
- 23:21That is today's project. So wish us luck that she doesn't
- 23:25scratch us to death. But we we do have these cat
- 23:30gloves that are like bite proof that go up to your elbows now.
- 23:33So so we'll probably have to use those, probably going to take a
- 23:37couple of us, but we'll get it done.
- 23:39So yay, we caught Mama cat. That whole saga is done, but I
- 23:44also have another Christmas miracle.
- 23:47All right. Because look what I found.
- 23:51It's a cassette. I found my air checks.
- 23:54Look, look. Look, look.
- 23:56Look, look, look and look it. I even have a reel look at this.
- 24:00Look at that. I found them, they remember in
- 24:04storage. I felt like they were gone and
- 24:07missing. They were in with the Christmas
- 24:10stuff. Wow.
- 24:11In the hall closet. Can you believe that?
- 24:15So they're not gone? I was ecstatic.
- 24:18I'm like, I can't believe this. I can't believe you have a reel
- 24:21to reel because I there's, there's, there's nowhere to play
- 24:24that reel to reel. You'll have to go to a recording
- 24:26studio or somewhere to find. What you mean like legacy box
- 24:29you're open it? Oh, oh, yes.
- 24:31Oh, send it into legacy box, of course, Yeah.
- 24:33Do they? Yeah, they could do.
- 24:34That they do that. I don't even know.
- 24:36It says Michelle's master reel #1 and then I have another one
- 24:39and it's #2 I don't, I have no idea what that is on these
- 24:42things. So yeah, yeah, this one.
- 24:46So this is like KMW. That's called a legacy box.
- 24:49This is like the fair 1998. This is me and Kramer.
- 24:54So wow. Yeah, you got, you got the gold,
- 24:58you got the gold. Yeah, I know.
- 25:00I'm so excited. I found them.
- 25:01Like I was like, Oh my God, I thought these were gone.
- 25:06So yeah, yeah. So that's my 2 exciting good
- 25:10news for for this podcast, I guess.
- 25:12I think one of these podcasts will whip out some of the old
- 25:15air checks and I have a good laugh.
- 25:17So, yeah, yes, which I probably should get, Yeah.
- 25:20I mean, we probably should get these off of our cassettes
- 25:24because they do degrade. So we probably should do that.
- 25:28Oh yeah, I've got a I've got a few of those.
- 25:30Oh, I saw they're there's, they're just horrible.
- 25:32I know, I know they're. Horrible, but I but I do have
- 25:35them. We I mean, if we just legacy
- 25:38boxer doesn't do cassettes right.
- 25:46So I I think the mailman is here.
- 25:49It's either, it's either delivery.
- 25:52Yes, they are. Are they not halfway through all
- 25:54the time? Uh huh.
- 25:55Yeah, actually sounds. Walking by the house.
- 26:01Hang on. This is where you play the
- 26:03little intermission. Go get.
- 26:06Go get some snacks. Go, go get some snacks.
- 26:09Now you got Roxy Rox Roxy. Roxy's working.
- 26:18So Megan just got a package. So.
- 26:21So they're. So the mailman is in our yard
- 26:24and we have a glass door, so you can hear Roxy now over.
- 26:29That's rock. Yeah.
- 26:31Roxy. Roxy.
- 26:32You never hear her bark, but so sparkly.
- 26:37And then Roxy and then Bodie's outside.
- 26:40So anyway, Merry Christmas. Happy holidays, UPS.
- 26:47So this time of year it's kind of interesting because what
- 26:50FedEx is going to the neighborhood, UPS is going
- 26:53through the neighborhood, that the Postal Service is going
- 26:55through the neighborhood. And yesterday I was waiting for
- 26:58a package for Megan's Christmas present and I swore the delivery
- 27:01trucks went like four or five times by they did.
- 27:04And then finally the package came.
- 27:05But I was like, man, I'm like, you know, because they're just,
- 27:08they're just remember, they're just, they're just, there's so
- 27:10many different delivery people these days.
- 27:12Oh, that it might be different trucks, not this.
- 27:15Yeah, there's different, there's different, you know, there's
- 27:17different, there's Amazon, there's FedEx.
- 27:20I mean, they're all different when they're coming through the
- 27:21neighborhood. So.
- 27:22And Bodhi Bodhi is very reactive to the.
- 27:27Yeah, yeah, my dogs are too. I get it.
- 27:30Yeah, Yeah. Still barking so and what they
- 27:32do too. I think they know that Bodhi
- 27:34lives here. They will park in front of the
- 27:36house to sort to sort the mail. Oh yeah, we have AU shaped
- 27:41driveway and they do that at our house too.
- 27:43And then the dogs go bananas for longer periods of time because
- 27:48they're sitting out there. Yeah.
- 27:50That's what that's what they're doing right now.
- 27:52I'm like, I'm like, they already dropped off this package, so
- 27:54they're now they're sorting. Right.
- 27:56Yeah, and now because they haven't moved, they haven't
- 27:58moved their ass. Yep, Yep.
- 28:00The dogs see the vehicle and they know hang.
- 28:02On, let me just take one little peek.
- 28:04I think it's still. So yes, I've got I've got Amazon
- 28:10and I've got the US and the the Postal Service sitting in front
- 28:13of my house. Oh my goodness, both of them.
- 28:15What are they like Chit chat? So.
- 28:16Our neighbor, so the neighbor across the street, I don't know
- 28:19what the neighbor does, but they get a lot of packages, like all
- 28:22the time. I swear.
- 28:23They do nothing but online shopping.
- 28:24So, so right now, yeah. So the UPS guidance or the
- 28:28postal guide is pulled out now I got the Amazon guy across the
- 28:31street. I'm like, Oh my gosh.
- 28:32So yeah, yeah. But yeah, cassettes.
- 28:35I know Air checks, yeah. Now, is there a way we can play
- 28:40audio on the podcast ever at all or anything like that?
- 28:43I believe so, yes. We'll have to, we'll have to
- 28:45experiment because I know we wanted to do what AI sounds
- 28:49like. It sounds like these days, yeah.
- 28:51And and then we also could play some really bad air checks.
- 28:55But yeah, some really horrible air checks.
- 28:58Oh my gosh. That would be painful to sit
- 29:00through, but. It is.
- 29:02People don't. People don't realize that just
- 29:04because we get to talk on the radio that it's not like I want
- 29:06to sit around and listen to myself talk.
- 29:08No, I mean, it's kind of, you know, when you see actors and
- 29:11actresses talking about their movies and usually they'll ask
- 29:14them, we'll have you, you know, watch the movie.
- 29:16And they're like, no, I don't like to watch myself.
- 29:18So I get why they don't want to watch themselves back because I
- 29:21don't want to listen to myself. I.
- 29:23Listen to myself, I watch what was that?
- 29:25Just saw a great saw a great interview with Zoe Deschnall
- 29:27from ELF and she was talking about they're like, oh, how many
- 29:31times have you seen Elf? And she's like, I saw it when it
- 29:33premiered. That was it.
- 29:34She goes, she goes. I don't like, like you just
- 29:36said, I don't like to go back and and watch my performances.
- 29:40Right. Yeah.
- 29:40So and a lot of people, and it's the same with one of the things
- 29:43you have to get used to is the sound of your own voice.
- 29:45A lot of people don't realize it about radio.
- 29:47They're like, you know, now Now don't get me wrong, some people
- 29:50love the sound of their. Yes, we know.
- 29:54We know quite a few. Yes, I've run into quite a few
- 29:57air talent that that they they love the sound of their voice.
- 30:00I am not one of those people. I'm usually usually when I've
- 30:03done a radio break, I'm usually screaming at the dashboard.
- 30:06If I voice track and I'm just hearing as I'm driving around
- 30:09I'm usually like shut the shut the F up you piece of shit.
- 30:13Damn, yeah, that's usually me too.
- 30:15Right. And like, my gosh, you know, and
- 30:17then and then I and then I just and then I'll self critique the
- 30:20break. I'm like, did I do?
- 30:21Did I do enough in that break? I have personality.
- 30:24Should I have done this? Should I have done that?
- 30:26Why did I say that I could have done this better?
- 30:29Yeah. Yeah.
- 30:30The kids used to hate it when I was in radio.
- 30:33Because you know how most people turn up the radio to hear the
- 30:36song, right? Not me, not us.
- 30:38We turn up the radio to hear the DJ's talking, especially if it's
- 30:42from the other stations or whatever it is.
- 30:45Yeah, I used to drive Megan. That's when we first met because
- 30:48we'd go into, like, to Portland and stuff and like that, and
- 30:50we'd drive down the road in the middle and then, oh, hang on,
- 30:52they're going to talk. Hang on, hang on.
- 30:54And I turn them up, you know? So radio people are the only
- 30:57people who turn themselves up. Yeah.
- 30:59Then then actually listening to the songs loud, then they're
- 31:02like, OK, bring it down, bring it down, bring it down.
- 31:03Don't, don't. I've already heard that song a
- 31:05billion times, don't you? Hear yes, and that's the other
- 31:08thing nobody understands. So you know, your friends are
- 31:11like, Oh my God, I love this new Luke Bryan song.
- 31:14And by the time by that time, I'm like, I'm tired of hearing
- 31:18it. I no, I don't like the song
- 31:21anymore. I'm tired of hearing it over and
- 31:23over. And over my favorite one is,
- 31:26which I have no skill at, is lyrics because because once the
- 31:31song starts, we turn it down. Yeah, we don't continue to
- 31:35listen to it. We are planning the next break
- 31:38or whatever it is we have to do. We're not actually paying
- 31:41attention and listening to the song.
- 31:43Right. That's the big misconception.
- 31:45Everything, it's all you're. Oh, it must be a great job.
- 31:47You're just, you're just sitting there listening to the songs
- 31:49back-to-back. Oh, man.
- 31:50Like, no, we have work to do. So yeah.
- 31:52We're doing other stuff. And, and the music is usually
- 31:54down and then we're going to talk.
- 31:55OK, now we turn the music up. So we hear that.
- 31:57We hear the beginning and the end.
- 31:59Yep. So if that lyric is not the
- 32:01beginning or the end, I have no idea what's in the middle.
- 32:04Yeah, me either. So you were talking about about
- 32:08teenagers and social media. Tell me about this.
- 32:10I've not seen this story. Tell me this story.
- 32:12Oh, have you not heard I? Have not.
- 32:14This is. All over.
- 32:16So Australia is the first country to ban teens from using
- 32:21social media, anybody under 16. So that's Facebook, that's
- 32:27TikTok. I mean, the whole works.
- 32:30Like this is everything. They have to be 16.
- 32:32And it just went into effect today, I believe, or well,
- 32:36Australia's like what a day or two ahead of us.
- 32:38So, but there were kids, there were teenagers that were already
- 32:43posting like, oh, we, we went around the band like we've
- 32:46already like figured out a way to get around it.
- 32:50But I wanted your thoughts. So, you know, both of us have
- 32:54children. What you think about the band,
- 32:58if you would think it would have been something good when our
- 33:01kids were coming up in social media, would that be something
- 33:03that you would be for this band? Or would you be against it
- 33:07because the teenagers are saying, well you're, you're
- 33:11silencing us basically is their argument.
- 33:15You know what I I think it's I don't know what happened.
- 33:19All right, so growing up, same as you and I, we same, we grew
- 33:23up in the same time period, right?
- 33:25Everybody wanted to be the popular kid.
- 33:27Everybody wanted the the Nikes, they wanted the the right
- 33:30clothes, the right hair. And this is all pre social
- 33:33media. Every kid wants to fit in.
- 33:36Every kid wants to belong. No one wants to be the outsider.
- 33:40No, you know, everybody wants to.
- 33:43And and so I think is what's what's for me really changed,
- 33:46which I, and I've talked about this before on the podcast,
- 33:48which is insane, is little kids in 1st and 2nd grade coming in
- 33:52with their Starbucks and their, their, their smart actions.
- 33:57Yeah, the list just the list just goes on and on of of I
- 34:02don't it's not of entitlement of what they're given to at a young
- 34:06age. And so and I think social media
- 34:08is another one of those situations to where that there
- 34:12are plenty of kids that don't need to be on social media at A
- 34:17at a young age that are on social media.
- 34:19I don't it but it but again, you and I growing up, it's the same
- 34:23thing as going to see an R rated movie.
- 34:25Right. There's there's always going to
- 34:27be a way around the R rated movie.
- 34:28Now an R rated movie, you know, restricted.
- 34:31Well, I'll go with my mom and dad.
- 34:33So there was so there was always a kid in school.
- 34:36They were like, Oh, I went and saw whatever movie was that was
- 34:38R rated because their because their parents allow it.
- 34:41Now your parents weren't going to allow it, but but, and so
- 34:45you're going to, you're going to have you have two, basically two
- 34:48different sets of parents. You got those that are going to
- 34:51say, no, you're not going to. I remember, I remember it was so
- 34:53interesting. It's the same every, every
- 34:56parent is different. Every parenting style is
- 34:58different. And I remember that there was on
- 35:00an Instagram account, a radio friend of mine and his wife,
- 35:05they have a, they had a very beautiful daughter and she was,
- 35:08I don't know if she was 16 or 15 at the time or whatever.
- 35:10And someone says, Oh my God, she's, you know, she's so she's
- 35:13so cute, you know, does she have a boyfriend yet?
- 35:16And the, and the mom responded, she's not allowed to date until
- 35:19she's 16. Like, you know, not, not 13, not
- 35:2414, not 15. She just shut it down and says
- 35:26you're not allowed to date. Right.
- 35:28So. But meanwhile you got 12 year
- 35:31olds and 11 year olds and 13 year olds dating.
- 35:34Yeah. So every family's different,
- 35:37every parent's diffing, everybody's different on what on
- 35:40what they're going to allow. I think the.
- 35:42Bad thing about like what you just mentioned about social
- 35:45media, the Starbucks and the cell phone is now that we have
- 35:48that, now those kids see that even more and want that to fit
- 35:54in. So I want the latest this, that,
- 35:56blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. It's more out there and in your
- 35:58face compared to when you and I were were growing up.
- 36:00Like, yeah, there were the commercials on TV, but that's
- 36:04it. And we didn't have social media
- 36:07to try and sell us all this stuff, basically.
- 36:09Or the image that you want to portray, or how you want to look
- 36:13when you go to school, or whatever it is.
- 36:16Well, and I and I, and I'm, I'm one of those people.
- 36:18I don't want to, I don't want to be a prude, but I mean, they,
- 36:22some of these parents have groomed their kids to be TikTok
- 36:26stars or oh. Yeah, they're.
- 36:28Making stars off. Of.
- 36:29Them and, you know, and they're 12 year old in a bikini, you
- 36:31know what I'm saying? Yeah, I mean, I'm sure you've
- 36:33seen that in your feed. Yes.
- 36:35You're like like this kids 12 years old, what the you know and
- 36:38the parents are like now they might say this is a parent rent.
- 36:41This is a parent run account. OK, great.
- 36:43But what the hell is your kid doing a bikini, right?
- 36:45No now. Now on the flip side, Michelle,
- 36:48you could, you could flip it back my way and say, well,
- 36:50you're a grown man. What are you looking at that
- 36:52for? Yeah, yeah.
- 36:54Like what? Do you that's, I mean, that's
- 36:55the argument that go that goes the other way was like, well,
- 36:59you know, you should be in control of yourself as a man.
- 37:02Right. That you know and.
- 37:04That's true. They're not.
- 37:05Yeah. You know I mean.
- 37:06But my my son and his wife do not want their baby's pictures
- 37:10on social media and I completely understand why.
- 37:13I mean, especially with AI now. And Oh yeah.
- 37:16Weirdos and what you can do with pictures.
- 37:19And I mean, honestly, if I would have known how social media is,
- 37:24especially now that we know the algorithm and that it is there
- 37:28to make us addicted. And there's more.
- 37:32I definitely would have not allowed my kids to be on it
- 37:36until they were a little bit older if I if I would have
- 37:39known. And looking back, we obviously
- 37:41didn't know how Facebook and Instagram and all this was going
- 37:44to play out in our lives and how we were going to be addicted to
- 37:47it. But yeah, I definitely would not
- 37:49have allowed them. I mean, remember Jackson, he was
- 37:52what, 13? And I still wouldn't allow him
- 37:55to have a. Instagram and he had to.
- 37:57Write like the 10 reasons why he could have it.
- 38:00You know, because he had to show me he could be responsible and I
- 38:03could trust that he wasn't going to do bad things stuff.
- 38:08Yeah, with his Instagram. Well, and you know, and I know
- 38:11that right now, I want to say at least in America, 13, but but I
- 38:14knew kids that were 10. God they that.
- 38:17That have it and they play this all you put a different.
- 38:19Age. You just have to put the right
- 38:21age right for the year and any kid can figure that out.
- 38:25Like right? Yeah.
- 38:26And so, so on one hand, it's like, yeah, I, I, it definitely
- 38:30brings up, you know, like, I don't, I mean, it's, I think, I
- 38:35think kids are going to find what they're going to find no
- 38:37matter what. Some kids, you know, will abide,
- 38:40some kids abide by it. Some kids will, they got to get
- 38:42on social media. It's, it's a, it's a different
- 38:46kind of drug. Yes, yeah.
- 38:49You know, creating content, how many likes did I get?
- 38:52How many followers do I have? And it's all part, It's all part
- 38:56of the ego. Yep.
- 38:57Yep. Yeah.
- 38:59And and I and I, yeah. So I think it's at at this
- 39:02point, I think it's just as bad as alcoholism.
- 39:04Yeah, or. Or can be, or can be, or drugs
- 39:08or any of those. Yeah, you know, but, but, but
- 39:11like anything else, it's like if it's abused, then, you know,
- 39:16bad, bad things happen. Because because alcohol in
- 39:18itself may not necessarily be a bad thing unless you abuse it.
- 39:22Right. Yeah, so, you know, and, and I
- 39:24have to, and I, I don't like being on the marijuana train
- 39:27because I don't agree with it, but I know it's legal in
- 39:30Washington. Yeah.
- 39:32So, but now, now I personally, I don't, I don't see the need.
- 39:35I don't know why, you know, but again, I came from a different,
- 39:38you know, horrific background of addiction.
- 39:41Right. And so I so I said that stuff
- 39:44doesn't even interest me like. Right.
- 39:46You saw a different side of it that most of us don't see.
- 39:49Yeah, to me, it's like, you know, why even start?
- 39:52Hey, man, you want you want to you want to smoke some weed?
- 39:55You want to have an edible? No, you know, Logan and I go
- 39:57around and around all the time. Did not interest.
- 39:59Now he, you know, he's into it. Cool, you know, But there is no
- 40:03amount of peer pressure from anybody that's going to make me.
- 40:07You've seen it. Oh yes, I have seen people try
- 40:10to get you to drink and you are. You are rock solid in your
- 40:15conviction. I have to give you that.
- 40:17Like I don't, I don't. I probably would have caved at
- 40:20some point in my life. Well, that's your pressure.
- 40:22And I always laugh because they all think it's a religious.
- 40:25Well, you must be religious. I'm like.
- 40:30I never thought of that. Oh yeah.
- 40:31Oh yeah, that was yeah, yeah. Is it your religion?
- 40:35No. Go Satan.
- 40:37You're like, you're like the religion of Rick.
- 40:40That's my religion. Hey, I, you know, I do.
- 40:43I, you know, because because of my wonderful foster parents,
- 40:48there are things I don't do. I don't blasphemy the Lord.
- 40:51I don't take the Lord's name in vain.
- 40:53So there are things that I don't do just because, you know, if I,
- 40:57if I do end up at the pearly gates and I'm wrong, I got to
- 41:00make sure that at least half my P's and Q's were being checked.
- 41:05Right. Hey.
- 41:07You're only you're only getting dinged for half compared to what
- 41:10It could have been the entire list.
- 41:12So I, yeah, we will not, we will not go into religion.
- 41:15But one of the things that I will tell you that what I
- 41:19thought about is, and if someone wants to get below me on the
- 41:22podcast and go at me, that's perfectly fine.
- 41:24I just cannot reason with the fact that let's say at the end
- 41:29of my life and I pop up there for judgement and God is there
- 41:33and I pop up and Charles Manson pops up.
- 41:36Yeah, Charles. Yeah, Charles Manson.
- 41:40And, well, he gave himself up to God in his final day.
- 41:43But. But, Rick, you didn't believe or
- 41:44you didn't have faith. You mean to tell me that God's
- 41:48going to go? All right, CC, you come on in.
- 41:51Rick, Sorry. Jeffrey Dahmer, yeah.
- 41:53Yeah. So, so it's one of the one of
- 41:56those things where I just, I guess I just don't buy, I don't
- 41:59buy that. Now I also, I'm not going to, I
- 42:02mean, I've been to church many times and I am respectful as I,
- 42:06you know, as I was raised and, and I don't try to make somebody
- 42:10change their religion or I'm like, well, you know, this
- 42:13person's Mormon, this person's, you know, Catholic or whatever.
- 42:16I just, I just don't get into those.
- 42:17I just, I just don't get into those arguments because I just,
- 42:22I just, it was funny because I was part of the church.
- 42:25I I, I think you knew this. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:28We talked about it on a past podcast, which I've had to do 2
- 42:31years of catechism as a Lutheran before I could have communion.
- 42:34So I've had upbringing in the Lutheran Church.
- 42:37So, so, yeah, so being, so being, and I went to Northwest
- 42:40Nazarene. So I went to AI mean I went to a
- 42:42religious college and disciples of Christ and I think they're a
- 42:47Protestant, that Protestant. So I'm, I'm baptized.
- 42:50I'm baptized. I got baptized in my, you know,
- 42:53but I just remember being with at church and as people would
- 42:58speak in tongues. Not now the disciples of Christ
- 43:01don't speak in tongues, but I've been to other churches where
- 43:02they speak in tongues and and different things like that.
- 43:06And and my gram and my grandma King was a wonderful lady.
- 43:10She, I, I just couldn't buy it. I was sitting there in church
- 43:13and they're all going. I'm like, OK, I'm, I'm, you
- 43:17know, snaggle puss. Exit stage left.
- 43:20At least my church was a little more normal.
- 43:23Yeah, and, and and so was mine. So disciples of Christ, where I,
- 43:26you know, where I am baptized, First Christian Church, First
- 43:28Christian Church, you know, wonderful people.
- 43:30They are wonderful people. I just just didn't want to lie
- 43:34to myself anymore about it about, about, you know, now.
- 43:38But again, we've talked about I'm an agnostic, I'm not an
- 43:40atheist. So I I don't, I don't know,
- 43:43right? I don't know the answer, but
- 43:45you're not going to. You're not going to convince me
- 43:46at the end that I'm going to pop up with Charlie Manson and go,
- 43:49sorry, Rick, you're ass going down there.
- 43:51Yes, that is also the problem I have is sure if they ask for
- 43:56forgiveness and salvation before they die, then yeah, Jeffrey
- 44:00doesn't want Charlie. The horrific things they did.
- 44:03But but basically, but that's the but that's the like, that's
- 44:08the process of what the Bible is saying is that they could very
- 44:12well be in heaven when we get there.
- 44:15And like you, I've said the same thing if I get there and Jeffrey
- 44:19Dahmer's there or who I'm. Not breaking bread with Jeffrey.
- 44:23Yeah, it's like, I'm sorry, but I I don't, it's like, no, I've
- 44:28I'll be fine going downstairs and live in my hell loop.
- 44:32Like, I mean, I just don't, I don't, I don't buy it.
- 44:37First off, that that is it's going to be that easy for any
- 44:41one of us to do, and I just don't want to be in heaven with
- 44:47them Like you, I just I'm like, well, I don't, and I have the I.
- 44:50Have the ultimate I have the ultimate respect for people who
- 44:53have faith. I do yes.
- 44:55That they, you know, and and I'm gonna and I'm gonna put it into
- 44:59and, and that are good people. Yes.
- 45:02Good people that have faith. I have a lot of respect in good
- 45:05people. But you're you're Erica Kirk's
- 45:08and all that. I don't buy it.
- 45:11You're Jimmy Swaggarts, you know, you're Robert Schollers,
- 45:14you're Pat Robertson. Sorry.
- 45:16You're you're Tammy Faye Baker. You know y'all?
- 45:19You always are going to, you're all, you're always going to burn
- 45:22in the effigies of hell because if there is a hell, if there is
- 45:25a hell, there's a special place for for people like that.
- 45:27So. Have you watched the Righteous
- 45:29Gemstones Not to get off. Track No, no I have not.
- 45:31Is it? Oh, you have got to watch it.
- 45:33It's on HBO. But yeah, it's basically this
- 45:36religious family. This is basically how I picture
- 45:40how they really are in real life.
- 45:42Like, yeah, they put on this front, but behind the scenes
- 45:45it's just, of course they're doing cocaine, you know, but.
- 45:48It's the truth. It always, it always comes out
- 45:50in the end. It always come.
- 45:51It always comes out in the end. And, you know, and, and I even
- 45:56think that about politics, I think people go in with good
- 45:59intentions. Oh yeah.
- 46:01And I do believe people going for good intentions and.
- 46:03Then they they have to pay the piper because they took money
- 46:07from XYZ and now XYZ wants such and such law to not be or
- 46:13whatever the case might be I mean.
- 46:14Ultimate power corrupts. Yeah.
- 46:16Yeah, ultimate power corrupts. I even think that when I see
- 46:19articles about embezzlement and different things like that, like
- 46:22the Boy Scouts or anything where I, when I see that, it's just
- 46:27like, I think it's just too tempting for, for people like,
- 46:29oh, I'm, I'm running the Boy Scouts here and I have access to
- 46:32the funds. You might be a good person when
- 46:34you started that job. And then you're like, oh, crap,
- 46:38my car broke down. I need $1000.
- 46:40Well, they, they won't know, right?
- 46:41I'll pay it. I'll pay it back.
- 46:42I'll pay it. Back and then you never do and
- 46:45then. And then it and then it just.
- 46:46And then it's like 1000, another thousand and another. 1000 and
- 46:49then suddenly you're $800,000, you know, so, so you know, I
- 46:54mean, you know, I, I would like to think that most people, I do
- 46:56believe most people are good. I am an optimist.
- 46:58So I do believe people, most people are good.
- 47:00But, but I also think that in circumstances, good people are
- 47:04going to do bad things. Yeah, I know, I know.
- 47:06I sure have. Oh.
- 47:07Yeah, we all have. That doesn't make us bad people,
- 47:10as long as we don't keep repeating the bad thing.
- 47:14And we have had the. Key.
- 47:15We had that conversation. But that's that's the proof you
- 47:18you. Yeah.
- 47:19You don't continue. You, you break.
- 47:20Yeah. It's like, oopsie, oopsie.
- 47:23I made a poopsie. I've got a right.
- 47:26Not gonna not gonna do that again.
- 47:28I mean, so yes, it's like, yeah. But someone could argue that.
- 47:33Well, I mean, Jeffrey Dahmer could make that case like.
- 47:38Hey, you ain't one person. That's enough.
- 47:40That's enough. Oopsie, like my bad.
- 47:43You know I learned from my mistake.
- 47:46You know what? I might be more.
- 47:47I might be more sensitive. I might like, OK, OK, well, I
- 47:50got to, you know, get a SEC. Yeah, I may not be able to
- 47:55forgive that, not forget able to forgive that one there.
- 47:57Yeah, I hope not. I.
- 47:59Hope. But yeah, I think that, I think
- 48:00that I think that with the social media, I don't know how
- 48:04you #1 police it. I don't know how you manage it.
- 48:07I do. I'm going to get around it.
- 48:09Parents are going to do it too. I mean, we haven't talked about
- 48:12this. We haven't talked about this on
- 48:13the podcast yet. But parents that, oh, I'd rather
- 48:17have my kid drink at home. Oh yeah.
- 48:20Then then go to a a friend's house and party.
- 48:23Yeah, we could talk about that next.
- 48:24Yeah, I think that'd be a good conversation next time.
- 48:27It's just I'm not I, I I think a parent needs to be a parent.
- 48:32Instead of a best friend, yeah. I don't yeah.
- 48:35And I and I and, and those are the hard choices you make.
- 48:37But I also think every kids maturities, maturity level is
- 48:41different. And I think you got to and you
- 48:43got to judge kids on the maturity level too.
- 48:45I I don't think, I don't think it's fair to clump all kids in
- 48:47one, you know, category. No, no.
- 48:51So I agree. So that'll be a tough situation.
- 48:53I think that I think those kids are going to figure out a way
- 48:55around it. I don't think it's definitely, I
- 48:57don't, you know, I don't know how they're going to get.
- 48:59I mean, the kids are going to get around it.
- 49:00Could. I don't.
- 49:01That will never happen in America.
- 49:04Yeah, that is the next question. Is that going to happen here in
- 49:07America? I think the reason that it won't
- 49:10is because you're all these advertisers are losing that
- 49:14audience to advertise to and they are going to do everything
- 49:18possible to keep it from happening.
- 49:23Wasn't that the big threat? That was supposed to.
- 49:25Yeah, that was that was the big threat.
- 49:27I mean, oh, they're owned by the Chinese.
- 49:28OK, now it's. Like they had 90 days and then
- 49:31it was like another six months. And now it's gone away.
- 49:34Too. Yeah, I don't even know what it
- 49:35is now. Doesn't even make the news
- 49:36anymore. Doesn't even make the news
- 49:38anymore. Businesses usually make.
- 49:39Other shit. Because guess Because guess
- 49:42what, TikTok has advertisers same as medics, lobbyists.
- 49:47Yeah, same. You know, So there's always, you
- 49:49know, And so it's what you know, and it's the almighty dollar.
- 49:51So yeah, I'll be curious how long that that ban lasts in
- 49:54Australia. Do I think it's a good thing?
- 49:55I do think it's a good thing. The problem is you're not,
- 49:58you're not going to get people to to abide by it.
- 50:01No, no. So you don't have to, but.
- 50:04There's too much, but I will agree, too much cyber bullying,
- 50:08too much trolling, too much, too much.
- 50:12I'm not pretty enough for any yeah or yeah.
- 50:15The list goes on and on. Yeah, yeah, I agree.
- 50:18It's easy being ugly. So I mean, I'm I'm good being
- 50:21ugly. Cuz that we left off the podcast
- 50:26mentioning that we needed to discuss if Die Hard was a
- 50:29Christmas movie. We're running out of time so we
- 50:32need to discuss this. I said no, it is not a Christmas
- 50:36movie, it's an action movie. I say I say yes because it has
- 50:41Christmas time. He's coming back for Christmas.
- 50:45It's and even though it's LA, it's LA Christmas.
- 50:48He goes. He even makes the what is it?
- 50:51Ho ho. They even make some comments
- 50:53like that. Oh, oh, I've got a machine gun.
- 50:55Ho ho ho. OK, well and if that's your
- 50:59argument, there are other movies that have Christmas to them that
- 51:06are not a Christmas movie. And I even did some research so
- 51:09I would have like debating points on this.
- 51:12So Gremlins, Hello, it's a weapon, Batman Returns, Iron Man
- 51:183, Bridget Jones Diaries and there's like a whole list of all
- 51:23these movies, so. Now there, now I'll go back.
- 51:25I will go back to the Batman or see now I can handle the Super
- 51:28one hero ones so Batman returns. Even know The Batman Returns and
- 51:31because. It's got snow.
- 51:33It does it does have snow. So I'm I'm going.
- 51:35I wouldn't call it a Christmas movie, but I'm just saying it's
- 51:37definitely during Chris winter time.
- 51:40Iron Man 3 definitely during winter because it does, you
- 51:42know, it's definitely got the holidays, you know, and Bridget.
- 51:45Jones has the Christmas like whole background to it and
- 51:50Christmas Eve, so Christmas time.
- 51:53But I do know that we do this on, we do this bit on the radio
- 51:56every single year, and it's incredible how many comments we
- 51:59get off. Yeah, it is or no, it isn't, you
- 52:01know, So it's pretty, it's pretty Dang amazing on, on what?
- 52:03On what people say about it. I'm just like when like who
- 52:07decided, OK, Die Hard, I'm going to make sure that it is on every
- 52:12year for Christmas. Even though it's this action
- 52:15movie, you could say that about any action movie that like
- 52:18again, like Lethal Weapon, if it has Christmas, it has Christmas
- 52:21in it. Like, well, you could say that
- 52:23about that movie. You could say that about
- 52:24Gremlins. All these movies that we've
- 52:26talked about, you could say that about any one of them.
- 52:30Like how did Die Hard become like that movie that is now the
- 52:34action movie that is now a Christmas movie?
- 52:37I yeah, it's, it's one of those, yeah.
- 52:38It's that, it's that art. It's that argument that gets
- 52:42made every single year. I now, to be truthful, I didn't
- 52:45think of it when it first came out as a Christmas movie.
- 52:48No, I did not. Because and and I love and as a
- 52:50kid and as a as a young, a young adult, I love that movie.
- 52:55Yeah, it's one of my favorites. I'm an I'm an I'm an action
- 52:57movie junkie, so I like. You are, yeah.
- 52:59So I like it so, so I never, when I first saw it, I never
- 53:02thought of it, even though it had all the Christmas elements
- 53:04in there. I didn't when I saw it when that
- 53:07come out at 88. I was probably 18 when I.
- 53:09Saw it, yeah. Yeah, I went and I think I even
- 53:11saw it at the movie theater and went, wow, that's a great movie.
- 53:14That was a great movie. So I never thought during it.
- 53:17Oh, this is a Christmas movie? Right.
- 53:19Right, but I can see how people make the analogy in it, so I
- 53:22don't. The war rages.
- 53:24The war rages. On to eternity.
- 53:29Take the take the Rick and that Michelle Chick pole down below
- 53:32and we will discuss the results next week.
- 53:36Will we? Yeah, on next episode I do want
- 53:40to argue over multi colored Christmas lights or white ones
- 53:44and real real and artificial trees.
- 53:46Maybe it'll be like our Christmas special or something,
- 53:48I don't know. Love to get, I love to get and
- 53:50she'll never come on but I'd love to get Megan into the
- 53:52conversation because of her OCD Ness.
- 53:55That would be awesome. Oh, I could talk about my
- 53:57husband's and the Christmas lights too, so.
- 53:59Bring them, bring them on, Bring on, Yeah.
- 54:01It's the sounds like we have two.
- 54:03Yeah, sounds like we have two that are OCD about Christmas
- 54:05lights, so. Yeah, yeah, it'd be, it'd be
- 54:08fun. Well, I, I got in trouble one
- 54:09time because Megan had this little, oh, she has a little
- 54:13town, a little Christmas town. Yeah, and then I too, and.
- 54:16Then I stuck my superheroes in there and she caught on real
- 54:19quick that she's like, you're superheroes, you're superheroes
- 54:22don't go in Christmas Town. I said, hey, the Flash in Green
- 54:26Lantern are protecting Christmas Town.
- 54:27She goes the hell they are. That's actually funny.
- 54:30I mean, I would, I would be out in there.
- 54:32I would. That's the little.
- 54:33Figurines. So I try to intermix the little
- 54:35figurines. Yeah, because like, the
- 54:37figurines for the houses are like, yay big.
- 54:39Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:41And they were. They were just hanging out.
- 54:42The superheroes just hanging out.
- 54:43Nope. They got caught.
- 54:45Maybe I'll have to take my son. He has like a Lego.
- 54:48I'm staring at it right now, a Lego mini Mickey and Donald.
- 54:51And maybe I'll have to go place him because the Christmas
- 54:53village is my husband's. Because it was.
- 54:55Just go place him and see if he was his.
- 54:57Grandma's. It was his grandma, so it has
- 54:59special meaning. So all right, so, so your
- 55:03Mission Impossible to end the podcast is you're going to go
- 55:06place those in the Christmas Village and even and see if Jay
- 55:10notices because Megan, the minute those superheroes were in
- 55:13there, I didn't say nothing. And she's she she saw that she's
- 55:17like right off the bat. They were they were out.
- 55:19So I want I'm curious when Jay comes back from work and if
- 55:21you'll see it. Well, I have to tell him he
- 55:23can't listen to this episode then.
- 55:26Right. Not the at least not the tail
- 55:27end. Well, no, because when does he
- 55:29come home? He'll come, he'll drive home
- 55:32Friday, so this episode will have already dropped.
- 55:35Usually he listens to us as he's driving home.
- 55:38That's the problem. So I'll just tell him he can't
- 55:42listen, but then he's going to be curious as to why he can't
- 55:45listen, and he's going to listen and tell me that he didn't
- 55:47listen. Oh man.
- 55:49Is he and is he a faithful listener?
- 55:51I think so. Good guy.
- 55:56There's got to be something way more entertaining, Jay, I'm just
- 55:58letting you know. That's it for today's episode of
- 56:03Rick and That. Michelle Jay, thanks for hanging
- 56:06out with us. If you laughed, rolled your
