- 0:03We got so much to talk about today,
- 0:05and we're here with the
- 0:20I love the chase and the hunt and
- 0:21I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:23I always take what I want and I
- 0:25always give it one hundred.
- 0:26Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:27Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:29I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:30Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:32Now wake up!
- 0:33It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:36Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:38friend to me.
- 0:39It's not working out,
- 0:40maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:41It's time to break up.
- 0:49it's lunch time what is going on everybody
- 0:52welcome to lunch with the clydesdale and
- 0:54the cowboy we are here to have some
- 0:59fun today seem is already calling us
- 1:02losers man i take that the same way
- 1:08that i take um
- 1:12Colton calling everybody nerds or dorks.
- 1:15Yeah.
- 1:15Okay.
- 1:18Term of infection.
- 1:21I used to say all the time that
- 1:22I'll hang out with the dumbest people on
- 1:24the face of the planet,
- 1:24but they're my best friends.
- 1:25So what does that say about me?
- 1:26Yeah.
- 1:31Yeah.
- 1:32Surrounding yourself with the right people
- 1:34is,
- 1:34is more important than an intellect is
- 1:37only part of the equation.
- 1:38Correct.
- 1:41Um,
- 1:42I got a question for you.
- 1:43So my wife and I were just having
- 1:45a discussion before I came down here
- 1:47because we are still stranded in our
- 1:49house.
- 1:49Uh,
- 1:50six cars have attempted to get out of
- 1:52our development and they've all bogged
- 1:55down right in front of our house.
- 1:56Jesus Christ.
- 2:00So, so we are stuck.
- 2:02Uh,
- 2:04Jaybird says you can't fly like an Eagle
- 2:06when you're surrounded by turkeys.
- 2:09Man's got a point.
- 2:10So my wife has worked a lot of
- 2:12shitty jobs in her life,
- 2:13but she is now with like a great
- 2:15company.
- 2:16It is an employee owned company.
- 2:18And like, and so she is,
- 2:20and she's been there five years now and
- 2:23in, and is killing it.
- 2:24Right.
- 2:26She puts all of her self-worth into the
- 2:30yearly evaluation.
- 2:35And because of the shitty jobs and,
- 2:38That's the only time her bosses would talk
- 2:40to her,
- 2:41and that's why she feels that way now,
- 2:43right?
- 2:44And now that she's on a good job,
- 2:47she's transporting that from her old jobs
- 2:52to this, right?
- 2:53And so it means everything.
- 2:54And I'm trying to tell her,
- 2:56why are you focused on one day of
- 2:57the year and ignoring the three hundred
- 3:00and sixty four?
- 3:01Correct.
- 3:02Right.
- 3:03You're at a place where people tell you
- 3:04how much they love you,
- 3:06how much they want to be around you,
- 3:08how appreciative they are of you all year
- 3:11long.
- 3:14That paper is filled out by someone who
- 3:15is so freaking busy and they're just
- 3:17trying to get it checked off and moved
- 3:20on with their day.
- 3:22Correct.
- 3:22I was a supervisor over a huge unit
- 3:25for a long time.
- 3:26You do not have time to put into
- 3:28that evaluation what it's truly intended
- 3:32to be.
- 3:32No.
- 3:34And you were just trying to get it
- 3:37done and get it off.
- 3:38And I'm like, so that's the amount of,
- 3:41that's the amount of effort they're
- 3:42putting into it.
- 3:43And you need to then realize that's how
- 3:45much effort you need to put into
- 3:47understanding what it is.
- 3:48Cause it doesn't mean what you think it
- 3:50does.
- 3:50No, your energy should match that energy.
- 3:55Mark Phillips,
- 3:56emotions don't care about logic.
- 3:59Yeah.
- 4:00He's not wrong.
- 4:02Oh, it's my yearly evaluation,
- 4:04it's my yearly evaluation.
- 4:05It's one day.
- 4:08And generally speaking,
- 4:08people are gonna remember a whole lot more
- 4:12of, if everything else is going smooth,
- 4:14then they have nothing to complain about,
- 4:15then they have nothing to write about.
- 4:17And then two things that go wrong, well,
- 4:20those two times,
- 4:21whenever whatever didn't happen,
- 4:23they gonna go ahead and write that dumb
- 4:24shit down instead of the nine hundred and
- 4:26ninety-nine times that you got it right.
- 4:29And she works for engineers, right?
- 4:33So they're the ones,
- 4:33they like come together and they fill out
- 4:36everything that they think her evaluation
- 4:38should have.
- 4:39One guy kind of puts it together and
- 4:41then they talk to her.
- 4:43And here's the thing,
- 4:43like their idea of what she should be
- 4:46doing is not what her job description says
- 4:50she should be doing, right?
- 4:52They want her to do more of their
- 4:54job
- 4:56And when she doesn't,
- 4:57because it's not really part of her job,
- 5:00then they kind of ding her for it.
- 5:03Well,
- 5:04it's because you're not doing your job,
- 5:06right?
- 5:07So it's so messed up.
- 5:08And I try to just keep encouraging her.
- 5:12But she has so much PTSD from the
- 5:16other jobs,
- 5:17it's really hard to get her out of
- 5:18this funk.
- 5:19And she has a new supervisor now that
- 5:20actually does what she does.
- 5:23and so i'm hoping that the understanding
- 5:27is better there this year and we'll have
- 5:30just a better evaluation because she
- 5:32understands the job better with any look
- 5:35for sure uh mark phillips i just flamed
- 5:38out in a workout i'm ready to join
- 5:39orange theory see he's looking at one day
- 5:42of workout instead of the
- 5:48Dude,
- 5:50I don't want to hear about flamed out
- 5:51in the workout.
- 5:51I am six weeks into my two K
- 5:56row progression.
- 5:57And believe me, you didn't flame up.
- 5:59Trust me when I tell you.
- 6:02I think this is a good segue into
- 6:04the hopper video with the campaigns.
- 6:07I need to watch that.
- 6:08I've heard several different things about
- 6:10it.
- 6:12It's, it's a long, it's a long one,
- 6:14man.
- 6:16Kim Haynes' goal was to go like an
- 6:17hour and I think they approached two.
- 6:19Oh, good Lord.
- 6:22And I listened to it on like hyperspeed
- 6:24and still like it was long.
- 6:27But he talks a lot and I've heard
- 6:29him say this other places too.
- 6:30Like he learned after going to Vermont
- 6:33that
- 6:34he needed to train intensity.
- 6:36He didn't have intensity at the games.
- 6:39And some days he goes into workout and
- 6:40the intensity isn't there and he just
- 6:42shuts it down because he's not,
- 6:45he's not getting out of the way of
- 6:46what he intended to get out of it
- 6:49because not everybody has a great day
- 6:52every day.
- 6:53So I'll talk to you, Mark Phillips,
- 6:55talking to you.
- 6:58Maybe,
- 6:59maybe this just wasn't your day and it's,
- 7:01it was okay to shut it down.
- 7:05Because you don't want it to affect
- 7:08tomorrow and the next day and the next
- 7:10day, right?
- 7:12You want to just put it behind you
- 7:13and come back the next day and get
- 7:18after it again, right?
- 7:21I know for me, if I don't,
- 7:23I've gotten pretty good at identifying
- 7:26when I should stop,
- 7:27when I should push through.
- 7:30when I should just shut it down completely
- 7:33and call it a day.
- 7:34Because if not, it can,
- 7:37I won't say it will,
- 7:38but it can definitely spiral into two
- 7:40days,
- 7:40into three days where it's just like shit
- 7:42on top of shit on top of shit
- 7:43until I take a break and reset and
- 7:47then can come back and be really refocused
- 7:50on it.
- 7:50Yeah, it sucks.
- 7:53Mark Phillips, which Hopper video is this?
- 7:55I missed it.
- 7:56He did an interview with Cam Haynes.
- 7:59And I'm getting an echo when I talk,
- 8:03Corey.
- 8:06So it's got to be something on the
- 8:08mixer there.
- 8:10But anyway, it's with Cam Haines.
- 8:14They actually did a bunch of workouts
- 8:15during the week and did some shooting and
- 8:19some stuff like that.
- 8:19And then after it was all over,
- 8:21they sat down for this interview after Cam
- 8:24got to know him.
- 8:27And, um, it's really good.
- 8:30It's really good.
- 8:30And it's outside of it's outside of the
- 8:33CrossFit space because cam is not a
- 8:35CrossFitter.
- 8:36He is a hunter.
- 8:38He is a runner.
- 8:39And, uh,
- 8:42and so it's just a different perspective.
- 8:47A new fee.
- 8:48Sometimes I get in a funk and need
- 8:50a workout.
- 8:50I know I'll feel successful at to get
- 8:53me out of the spiral.
- 8:55That's a good one too.
- 8:56Yep.
- 8:57Yeah.
- 8:57A lot of us aren't going to the
- 8:58games.
- 8:59We're just trying to get our,
- 9:00our mood back to the neck to get
- 9:02back to the next day.
- 9:06A hundred percent.
- 9:07I would want to do something that I
- 9:08know I'm good at.
- 9:10to snap myself out of it or something
- 9:12I'm familiar with.
- 9:13Not necessarily that I'm something that
- 9:14I'm good at,
- 9:15but even if it's something that I'm
- 9:16familiar with that I know still needs
- 9:17work,
- 9:18that I can get a good amount of
- 9:19work in, twenty, thirty minutes,
- 9:21something along those lines,
- 9:22feel good about myself after that and let
- 9:25it carry on.
- 9:27Absolutely.
- 9:30While I really liked the video or the
- 9:32podcast, it was enjoyable to listen to.
- 9:36He talks about his faith.
- 9:37He talks about his relationship with his
- 9:39father, which I'd never heard before.
- 9:44I wish it would have delved more into
- 9:47the CrossFit community and CrossFit
- 9:53affiliate kind of side.
- 9:57And it really doesn't.
- 9:57It really sticks to the sport and the
- 10:00mindset of a competitive athlete.
- 10:03I think when that's the piece we're
- 10:06missing,
- 10:06when these athletes get an opportunity to
- 10:08go outside the space, to pay it forward.
- 10:12Yeah.
- 10:14And to pay it forward about the community,
- 10:18about the affiliates, about all of that.
- 10:21Because Jason started an affiliate
- 10:23company.
- 10:24And that's where he found out he was
- 10:25good,
- 10:26and that's why he made the choice to
- 10:28pursue this as a career.
- 10:33But it kind of got glossed over.
- 10:38I think people,
- 10:39when they get a chance to interview guys
- 10:42like Hopper or anybody who's won the games
- 10:44at that point,
- 10:44especially if it's been recently,
- 10:46they want to talk about that because it
- 10:48just happened and kind of skip over the
- 10:50part, like you said,
- 10:51where –
- 10:53Hey,
- 10:54this is how I actually started or even
- 10:56asking them.
- 10:56I mean, anybody that Savan talks to, like,
- 11:00or you talk to where did it all
- 11:02begin?
- 11:02Were you, you know,
- 11:03were you always competitive?
- 11:05Were you always,
- 11:05were you in a gym and just working
- 11:07out about whatever?
- 11:08Um,
- 11:12I think what Chattanooga is saying right
- 11:14there to maybe some coaching on,
- 11:18on how to get the,
- 11:19whoever they're talking to, you know,
- 11:22to kind of roll back over to that
- 11:23side or even bring it up themselves.
- 11:26None of this would be possible if I
- 11:27hadn't stepped into the doors of JR's
- 11:30place to begin with.
- 11:32I would not be here today without any
- 11:34of that,
- 11:34with the guys at whatever class he was
- 11:36taking at the time or whatever.
- 11:38I don't think it was Crash that he
- 11:39stepped into.
- 11:40He was at Clemson.
- 11:42He was using CrossFit as his workout in
- 11:45addition to the football.
- 11:46And that's where he decided to quit
- 11:51football and move into the CrossFit space.
- 11:55But there was a lot of great points,
- 11:58and I don't want it lost.
- 11:59It's a good interview,
- 12:00and they did touch on some things.
- 12:02And the one thing that I thought was
- 12:04really cool is –
- 12:05he broke a record by two minutes that
- 12:09cam haynes has done with a lot of
- 12:10athletes and it showed that like the
- 12:13crossfit methodology
- 12:16don't have to train that specific thing
- 12:17that cam had them do and he still
- 12:20crushed it like and cam kept saying like
- 12:23your fitness level is at a level that
- 12:26like i had to up my game testing
- 12:28you because other people can't handle what
- 12:31you can handle and that so it was
- 12:34subtly there it just if they could have
- 12:37just in that moment said yeah the
- 12:39methodology is freaking awesome
- 12:43And it just missed that one little tick,
- 12:47right?
- 12:48Wouldn't have taken much, right?
- 12:49Wouldn't have taken much.
- 12:52I mean, we've been saying it for years,
- 12:53like especially around here.
- 12:56We know a lot of people that run
- 12:57a lot of races and stuff like that.
- 12:58And if I had to,
- 13:00I could run a half marathon this weekend.
- 13:04Well, that's where they were talking.
- 13:05Jason ran eighteen miles and he'd never
- 13:08run over eight before.
- 13:09Yeah.
- 13:11And he did it because he does CrossFit.
- 13:13And he was able to do it because
- 13:14he does CrossFit.
- 13:16And Cam Haynes says he doesn't usually
- 13:18take people at eighteen miles because they
- 13:19can't handle it.
- 13:20Right.
- 13:22But Jason could handle it.
- 13:24Um...
- 13:26So yeah, it was really good.
- 13:27It was subtly there.
- 13:30I wish that Jason could have just pushed
- 13:32it a little bit over the edge.
- 13:34I thought he did a great job.
- 13:37And listen,
- 13:37I've been interviewed on a podcast before.
- 13:39It's hard.
- 13:40The interviewee is hard.
- 13:42You don't know what's coming at you.
- 13:43And Cam Hain said he didn't plan anything.
- 13:45It was just sit down and BS.
- 13:47And this is kind of what came out,
- 13:49right?
- 13:49So it's not the easiest thing to do,
- 13:53but it...
- 13:54My wish and hope was there.
- 13:57I'm not blaming Jason.
- 13:58I'm not blaming Cam.
- 13:59It just was so close.
- 14:04I need to watch it.
- 14:06I've heard, like I said,
- 14:07I heard good things about it,
- 14:08that it was pretty cool,
- 14:08but I didn't realize it was that long.
- 14:10Jesus Christ.
- 14:10That's a long, that's a long thing.
- 14:12It is.
- 14:13I listened to it on one point two
- 14:14five and it still sounded normal.
- 14:20But yeah, it's still long,
- 14:22even at one point two five,
- 14:23just to let you know.
- 14:27Ortega,
- 14:28I understand the athletes get asked these
- 14:29questions,
- 14:30but they're not like other athletes where
- 14:32they have PR training from CrossFit to be
- 14:34able to promote the brand.
- 14:35Again, I'm not blaming anybody.
- 14:39I thought they touched on aspects that if
- 14:42you were listening,
- 14:43you could transpose to.
- 14:45That's what the methodology did.
- 14:47It just wasn't like blatantly said.
- 14:54Yeah.
- 14:54Yeah.
- 14:58It's Jason,
- 14:58so you should expect it to be long.
- 15:02You know, Cam's a talker too,
- 15:03so it's not just Jason's fault.
- 15:06And I thought he held himself really,
- 15:07really well.
- 15:10He represented the athletes of CrossFit
- 15:13very, very well.
- 15:17But there's a really cool part about his
- 15:19relationship with his father,
- 15:20and that's why he pushes so hard.
- 15:23And he calls it like running toward the
- 15:25pain because his dad never gave him the
- 15:32like kudos or the respect, I guess,
- 15:38when he was growing up.
- 15:39And he was always looking for that
- 15:42approval.
- 15:44And that's why he runs toward the pain.
- 15:46It gave me a whole new perspective on
- 15:47Jason, truly.
- 15:50Especially that piece of it.
- 15:52And if you're a Christian,
- 15:53there's a great faith piece of it, too,
- 15:55where him and Cam get into these
- 15:57discussions.
- 15:57And Jason takes Cam on a journey where
- 16:00Cam's never went before with faith.
- 16:02And it was really, really cool.
- 16:04So, yeah.
- 16:07And it's chaptered out, too.
- 16:09So if there's pieces you just want to
- 16:10check out,
- 16:12you can scroll across the bottom and go
- 16:14to like a specific piece.
- 16:18I don't know about that,
- 16:18but it'd definitely be a lot easier to
- 16:22stop and come back to you later, like,
- 16:23oh, I was right here.
- 16:25Yeah.
- 16:31Chattanoofy, I jumped.
- 16:32I feel like if you have a goal
- 16:33time and can meet...
- 16:36They're talking about the qualifiers for
- 16:38Magic City.
- 16:39Gotcha.
- 16:43Which,
- 16:43to answer their question from earlier, no,
- 16:45I am not doing those.
- 16:46I'm fixing to do the...
- 16:48monster games qualifiers that are coming
- 16:50out Friday.
- 16:54Black Dragon.
- 16:56You need to choose on these big podcasts
- 16:57to get CrossFit put out there with passion
- 17:00info.
- 17:00It'd be cool if there were roundtables and
- 17:03it was a non-CrossFit person interviewing
- 17:05the roundtable about the athletes,
- 17:08about the methodology,
- 17:09about and showed kind of the whole grand
- 17:12picture.
- 17:13That would be awesome.
- 17:14I just don't know who you would get
- 17:16to do that or who would agree to
- 17:17do that at this point.
- 17:18Or who would be good at doing that,
- 17:21that you could get to do that.
- 17:25Chad,
- 17:26if you appreciate Jason being a bit
- 17:27vulnerable in this interview,
- 17:28in his interviews lately,
- 17:30he did mention his dad on the Pedro
- 17:32one too.
- 17:35I got to catch up on the Pedro
- 17:37ones.
- 17:39He went bang, bang,
- 17:40bang with like all the boys interrupted
- 17:41and I didn't get all of it.
- 17:43No, I mean, I started with Alan.
- 17:48Shit,
- 17:49that might be the only one I caught.
- 17:52Who do you have?
- 17:53He had somebody on yesterday.
- 17:56I don't remember who it was.
- 17:57I've watched some of that.
- 17:59Yeah,
- 18:00I got word that my job is going
- 18:02to pick up some more.
- 18:03I'm getting more duties,
- 18:05which is going to make it a little
- 18:06more difficult to get through some of the
- 18:09podcasts.
- 18:15The next thing I wanted to talk about
- 18:17is, hey,
- 18:17we're going to give away an open
- 18:20registration.
- 18:23If you have not signed up for the
- 18:24open yet,
- 18:26And the reason you're not signing up is
- 18:28because the twenty dollars is too much.
- 18:31We got you covered.
- 18:34All you do is put I'm in in
- 18:38the comments, not in the chat,
- 18:40in the comments of this video.
- 18:42I'm in.
- 18:45And tomorrow I will put all those names
- 18:47in a randomizer and one of you will
- 18:50get a free registration to the CrossFit
- 18:53Open.
- 18:53It's that easy.
- 18:57Piece of cake.
- 19:00And we got more.
- 19:01We're going to give away more.
- 19:03But for right now, we're giving away one.
- 19:07Put I'm in the comments of the YouTube
- 19:10video and you will be entered in a
- 19:14drawing to get a free registration to the
- 19:16CrossFit Open.
- 19:17You got to start somewhere.
- 19:18Super, super simple.
- 19:24Larry, you're already in.
- 19:25We know.
- 19:29Um, all right, cool.
- 19:31So the next thing I want to talk
- 19:32about is this viral thing that's going
- 19:35around the space.
- 19:36I couldn't find the original,
- 19:38so I'm playing John Young's version of
- 19:40this.
- 19:41I'm not going to play it the whole
- 19:42way through,
- 19:43but I want to talk about this briefly.
- 19:47This was when Hiller was interviewing
- 19:50Brian friend.
- 19:50Hmm.
- 19:53And Hiller asks Brian Friend,
- 19:56what happens if, and I'll play it.
- 19:59What happens if he were to beat you?
- 20:01Top hundred.
- 20:02I don't know if John could go a
- 20:03hundred deep.
- 20:04It became personal with me.
- 20:06He really focuses when he does his
- 20:07research on the top competitions and the
- 20:09top athletes.
- 20:10I don't think he can go that deep,
- 20:11bro.
- 20:11All right, that's enough of that.
- 20:16So it's a great reel if you want
- 20:18to check it out.
- 20:20But here's the deal.
- 20:23Why do you need to go a hundred
- 20:24deep?
- 20:25Why is that even a thing?
- 20:29How many people go to the CrossFit games?
- 20:31Corey, answer that question for me.
- 20:33This year, thirty men and thirty women,
- 20:36individual.
- 20:38Thirty women, thirty men.
- 20:41And relevance to the CrossFit games,
- 20:46people that will be competitive at
- 20:48semifinals will be an additional...
- 20:53Ten to fifteen?
- 20:54Ten to fifteen.
- 20:55That might make some noise at a semifinal.
- 20:57Yeah.
- 20:58So we're talking like...
- 21:00And you probably already know those
- 21:02people.
- 21:03You're talking forty-five, fifty tops.
- 21:06A hundred percent.
- 21:08So why is it a badge of honor
- 21:11to say you can't go to a hundred?
- 21:14It doesn't make any sense.
- 21:18It makes no sense.
- 21:20It really, really doesn't.
- 21:21Once you get out of the top fifty,
- 21:23which is still a lot,
- 21:26you're in a pool that is...
- 21:29It's almost it's homogenous,
- 21:30like it looks almost like you could stack
- 21:32all those people up next to each other
- 21:34and interchange any one of them at any
- 21:36given point,
- 21:37maybe down towards the bottom,
- 21:38like towards the actual hundred or
- 21:40whatnot.
- 21:40There's some outliers that got it got into
- 21:43that hundred because they were super good
- 21:44at like one thing.
- 21:46But anything past the top fifty,
- 21:47I would say the fifty to eighty range
- 21:50like you could plug and play any one
- 21:51of those people.
- 21:52And it's going to be that you're going
- 21:53to get the same result.
- 21:55I'm going to tell you in twenty twenty
- 21:57two and twenty twenty three,
- 22:00those two years I interviewed over one
- 22:01hundred semifinal athletes.
- 22:04I remember one hundred semifinal athletes.
- 22:07I knew more about the semifinal athletes
- 22:10than anybody else at those events.
- 22:14Did it make me a better predictor as
- 22:15to who was going to the games?
- 22:17Not one tiny bit.
- 22:21No.
- 22:22In fact,
- 22:23I would argue it gave me a bias
- 22:25towards people that made me worse at
- 22:28picking who was going on to the CrossFit
- 22:31Games.
- 22:32Because you got to know them.
- 22:35right and now you're and now you're
- 22:37friendly with them and now you're rooting
- 22:39for them so now you're almost a homer
- 22:41at that point because you're like oh no
- 22:42dude this dude's great this dude's
- 22:44fantastic he's gonna absolutely smash it i
- 22:46was that way i i kid you not
- 22:48i dove into that a minute immediately
- 22:51right i knew i knew this person was
- 22:53fighting an autoimmune disorder it was
- 22:54going to be a great story and i
- 22:56wanted them to go into the or this
- 22:58person fought cancer and is coming back
- 23:00and they're going to do it you know
- 23:02and
- 23:02Like it gave me biases that made me
- 23:06terrible at predicting who was going to go
- 23:10to the CrossFit games.
- 23:13Terrible.
- 23:14Yeah.
- 23:17So I also want to look at it
- 23:19from this perspective.
- 23:21I think in our space,
- 23:23the media is too close to the athletes,
- 23:26right?
- 23:30To be good predictors as to who's going
- 23:32to go on to the CrossFit Games.
- 23:35Now,
- 23:36some people can kind of push those biases
- 23:38a little bit to the side,
- 23:40but we all have them.
- 23:43I think last year at the Games,
- 23:45I actually beat John.
- 23:47for like the first time ever,
- 23:49but it doesn't make me a better predictor
- 23:51than him all the time.
- 23:53It just meant that I was able to
- 23:54push my biases away and my biases led
- 23:57to, led to the people who won.
- 24:01Sure.
- 24:03Right.
- 24:03We are all so close.
- 24:04We all want these people to win.
- 24:06We all want these people to do well.
- 24:08Like I can point out that John was
- 24:11riding the Austin Hatfield horse for,
- 24:17Probably because of a bias.
- 24:20Sure.
- 24:21Right?
- 24:23Sure.
- 24:24And we all have that.
- 24:26He got hung up on Hatfield and was
- 24:30like, for whatever reason,
- 24:32it's like a dog on a bone saying,
- 24:34oh, this dude, he's the dude,
- 24:35he's the dude.
- 24:36And Hatfield made it through the games.
- 24:39on him but he was already on that
- 24:41trajectory and if you look at uh any
- 24:43any kind of time anybody spent with him
- 24:46leading up to when he actually made the
- 24:47games he was on that path no matter
- 24:50what but as soon as you get hooked
- 24:52onto those people like that you're like oh
- 24:54this is my guy he's going not only
- 24:56is he going he's gonna finish top fifteen
- 24:58he's gonna finish top ten he's gonna
- 24:59finish top eight whatever the case may be
- 25:02and you're like is he though
- 25:07And then it's a big disappointment and
- 25:09it's a letdown.
- 25:10And there's also the point where you're
- 25:12taking the risk, right?
- 25:13You're like,
- 25:14I want to be the first to say
- 25:15this guy.
- 25:16Right.
- 25:17And I'm going to ride this horse.
- 25:19And then when they fail,
- 25:23when they succeed, you get to say,
- 25:24look what I said,
- 25:25look who was the first one to find
- 25:27this guy.
- 25:28Right.
- 25:29Um,
- 25:31I had that person locked in two years
- 25:33ago.
- 25:33I've been talking about them since then.
- 25:36And they're going to be fantastic.
- 25:38And it does.
- 25:39It pays off whenever they actually make it
- 25:42or they make some noise or they get
- 25:43anywhere close.
- 25:44But when they fail,
- 25:46you get roasted for months on end.
- 25:51And it's entertaining for us at the very
- 25:53least, right?
- 25:54Because then people go,
- 25:55what about this dude, John?
- 25:57What about your boy?
- 25:58Where's your boy at?
- 25:59Why is he not in there?
- 26:00Why is your boy not in there?
- 26:03It's entertainment.
- 26:04Either way.
- 26:08John's bias is towards people that play
- 26:10Christian.
- 26:12That could play a part in it.
- 26:14Could play a part in it, of course.
- 26:16I think he's also anti-mayhem,
- 26:18which is weird with the Hatfield thing.
- 26:22John has a bias,
- 26:22and I think most people do,
- 26:24to people that share the same worldview.
- 26:26Yeah.
- 26:27Right.
- 26:28So Hadfield, Christian, Christian kid,
- 26:31right.
- 26:32Hard worker, blue collar roots.
- 26:35I mean, he falls right in line.
- 26:38So John's like, yep,
- 26:40that's my dude right there.
- 26:41Everybody's got personal biases towards
- 26:43people who remind them of themselves.
- 26:47I was a huge, which granted,
- 26:49Frazier was winning all the time.
- 26:50I was a huge Matt Frazier fan because
- 26:52he and I are the exact same size.
- 26:55Five foot six,
- 26:56hundred ninety ish pounds somewhere right
- 26:58right up in that area.
- 27:00Both have a potty mouth.
- 27:02Both are can probably considered to be
- 27:04assholes depending on who you talk to.
- 27:07But that was my dude.
- 27:08And that was mostly why it wasn't
- 27:09necessarily because he was winning.
- 27:10It was because I identify identified with
- 27:12him more than anything else.
- 27:16Fantastic.
- 27:18Oh, another bias.
- 27:20He hates beautiful women.
- 27:25Uh, yeah.
- 27:29So I have a bias towards anybody that
- 27:31agreed to do a mini documentary with me.
- 27:35Yeah.
- 27:36Right.
- 27:36So like, uh,
- 27:38I had the year where I went behind
- 27:39the scenes with, with Kelly Baker.
- 27:41I went behind the scenes with Emily Rolfe
- 27:43and Alex Kazan.
- 27:45they will always be in my top.
- 27:48If I see them in a competition,
- 27:49I'm going to be rooting for them and
- 27:50I'm probably going to give them a higher
- 27:52place than I think they,
- 27:54they probably really deserve.
- 27:56A hundred percent.
- 27:58No matter what, because they,
- 28:00they gave me a shot.
- 28:02Exactly.
- 28:03And you're not going to forget that.
- 28:05Right.
- 28:06And by and large,
- 28:08most of us do that.
- 28:10And that goes for the casual fan as
- 28:12well, right?
- 28:13If you meet somebody at the games or
- 28:16at a competition or something like that,
- 28:18and they are nice to you and have
- 28:20a conversation with you,
- 28:22whatever that might be, right?
- 28:24Five minutes, ten seconds, whatever it is.
- 28:27Holy shit.
- 28:28I'm now a fan of that person.
- 28:29And it goes the opposite way too.
- 28:31If you go to try to shake somebody's
- 28:32hand and they tell you to get bent
- 28:34and walk off, you're like, well,
- 28:36F that guy.
- 28:36I'll hope he never wins anything again.
- 28:39Yeah.
- 28:40I will never root for Brooke Wells.
- 28:41She always,
- 28:43she always rejected my interviews at every
- 28:46competition.
- 28:47There you go.
- 28:48I will never root for Brooke Wells.
- 28:49Sorry.
- 28:50It's a fact.
- 28:52Yeah, there it is.
- 28:54There it is.
- 28:55Easy, easy day.
- 28:57Easy day.
- 28:58Yeah.
- 29:00I just find it so funny because, like,
- 29:02in that interview, like,
- 29:05Brian is sticking his chest out like,
- 29:10like,
- 29:10John can't beat me down to a hundred.
- 29:12Yeah.
- 29:13Well, that's like saying, like,
- 29:16you can't name a hundred Chicago Bears
- 29:18when the roster has fifty-two.
- 29:20Correct.
- 29:22Or fifty-three.
- 29:23Yeah.
- 29:24Nobody cares about who number eighty three
- 29:26is except his family and his his wife
- 29:30or her or her husband,
- 29:32whatever the case may be like their their
- 29:33immediate family and friends.
- 29:36I understand is always rooting against
- 29:38Corey now.
- 29:42I remembered you this year, Andrew.
- 29:44I'm sorry.
- 29:48Yeah.
- 29:49Yeah.
- 29:50I mean, those are just facts.
- 29:51Those are like people that have spurned
- 29:54interviews for me and never do them.
- 29:56I'd never root for.
- 29:59Yeah.
- 29:59And I know as media or journalists,
- 30:02you're supposed to be unbiased.
- 30:04We're more biased than anybody else.
- 30:08Because we're that close to them.
- 30:11Right.
- 30:12Stephen A.
- 30:12Smith is not that close to whatever sports
- 30:16personality he's talking about at that
- 30:17day.
- 30:18He is removed from them in his own
- 30:19little box.
- 30:21Right.
- 30:21He doesn't interact with them.
- 30:23You know,
- 30:24he doesn't have an opportunity to talk to
- 30:25them on a regular basis or whatnot.
- 30:27We do.
- 30:28Our stars are a lot more accessible than,
- 30:32I'm going to go ahead and say it,
- 30:35professional athletes.
- 30:39Yeah.
- 30:42and it happens in all things.
- 30:44Look at here's Larry.
- 30:45When mayhem stepped up last year,
- 30:47I got on their map, right?
- 30:48Mayhem stepped up.
- 30:49They held, they held the mayhem classic.
- 30:52They held an open workout.
- 30:54They were becoming active in the CrossFit
- 30:56community.
- 30:57Larry looks for a mayhem affiliate to go
- 30:59to, uh, to sign up and join.
- 31:04So when,
- 31:04when people do things like you were saying
- 31:07that share your life, um,
- 31:12your life goals, your life, I don't know,
- 31:14you said it better than I'm saying it
- 31:16right now, but, um, then you feel in,
- 31:19in tune with them and you want to
- 31:21support them.
- 31:23Absolutely.
- 31:25Absolutely.
- 31:26I know more about Brandon Luckett as a
- 31:29person than I probably ever will as a
- 31:32coach.
- 31:32And that's
- 31:38Because I know the kind of person that
- 31:39he is.
- 31:40I told him that not that long ago.
- 31:41I was like,
- 31:42if I knew nothing else about you,
- 31:43that would be enough.
- 31:45But you also happen to have gotten me
- 31:48as fitter than I've ever been in my
- 31:49entire life.
- 31:50So like, I'm here.
- 31:52I'm in.
- 31:52I'm staying.
- 31:53I'm not going anywhere else.
- 31:54Period.
- 31:56Alito says, correct.
- 31:57However,
- 31:57every now and then someone in the third
- 31:58breaks through and then you can say, ha,
- 32:01I told you so.
- 32:02But ninety nine percent of the time you're
- 32:03wrong.
- 32:04Right.
- 32:04And if you get that right,
- 32:05it's a pure luck.
- 32:06Yeah.
- 32:06Because when you're down from from fifty
- 32:08to one hundred,
- 32:10it is literally put them all in a
- 32:12hat and draw a name.
- 32:15You'd probably you have a better chance of
- 32:17getting it right if you put them all
- 32:18on a hat and pick the name than
- 32:20you would if you tried to look at
- 32:21the list and pick one because you thought
- 32:22they did something fantastic somewhere.
- 32:24I would say the degree of fitness level
- 32:27from fifty to one hundred is less than
- 32:30it is from one to five.
- 32:32Oh, God.
- 32:33Yeah.
- 32:35God, yeah, absolutely.
- 32:38So by the time you get down to
- 32:39fifty, nobody really knows.
- 32:43No.
- 32:43Because you saw them compete in
- 32:45Kazakhstan.
- 32:46Doesn't mean that all of a sudden,
- 32:48you know,
- 32:49they're going to make the CrossFit Games.
- 32:53You don't.
- 32:53And if you say you do, you're lying.
- 32:56Right.
- 32:57Or if you say, oh, I called it.
- 33:00Show me the video evidence where you
- 33:01called it.
- 33:03Not, oh, well,
- 33:04I told somebody off camera somewhere one
- 33:07time, one thing, kind of,
- 33:09sort of mentioned it,
- 33:10that maybe they might be good.
- 33:11No, no.
- 33:12If you called it,
- 33:13show me where you called it.
- 33:15Because I can, nine,
- 33:16nine percent guarantee you did not.
- 33:17It's absolutely ridiculous.
- 33:22Yeah.
- 33:23Yeah.
- 33:24I just find it funny that, like,
- 33:28the whole analyst thing in CrossFit is
- 33:30just absurd.
- 33:32Yeah.
- 33:34Cause we all think we're good at it
- 33:36and we all have biases because we've all
- 33:38connected with some of these athletes.
- 33:41Sure.
- 33:41And we, none of us can, um,
- 33:44can detach ourselves from that long enough
- 33:48to make an educated top five, top ten,
- 33:52whatever.
- 33:53Absolutely.
- 33:57Jay Birch says if you use the Apollo
- 33:59database you might well not anymore
- 34:01because the Apollo database has not been
- 34:03updated in like six months get on that
- 34:06Barclay Barclay got a new job I guess
- 34:09and he and he that is low on
- 34:12his priority list and he has not updated
- 34:14it so the Apollo world rankings Claire
- 34:23don't forget I beat JY last year on
- 34:25heat one for the games
- 34:27Yeah, but I think I won, Claire.
- 34:30Like,
- 34:30you're the one that put up the standings.
- 34:32I didn't even know I won until Claire
- 34:34posted it.
- 34:35That's hilarious.
- 34:38From, like, the media members.
- 34:44This may or may not have been repeatable,
- 34:45but there's no reminding him for one year.
- 34:48There's still...
- 34:49Here's to reminding him for a year.
- 34:51Absolutely, Claire.
- 34:53I would never, I would never stop.
- 34:54Like every Monday show they did with John
- 34:57Oren, I would open it, Claire,
- 34:59if I were you.
- 35:00And by the way,
- 35:02remember last year when I beat you?
- 35:04Because I'm going to, if you didn't,
- 35:06I'm reminding you right now.
- 35:11Yeah.
- 35:12Yeah.
- 35:15When I was prepping for today and trying
- 35:17to think of where it was that I
- 35:19beat him,
- 35:19I couldn't even remember if it was the
- 35:21games or not because literally I didn't
- 35:24know until Claire posted it.
- 35:25That's fantastic.
- 35:34Where is that?
- 35:35Vicky is calling us the JY Slayers.
- 35:38It should be a club.
- 35:39We should start a club,
- 35:40the John Young Slayers.
- 35:47so she's she's going to to tfx and
- 35:50jay birch is going to be there we're
- 35:52also going to have uh joe valens is
- 35:54our photographer he's going to be there
- 35:56shooting for us he was in a chat
- 35:59earlier he was and so we're we're going
- 36:00to see some shots from him uh and
- 36:03we'll be collaborating all weekend uh so
- 36:05make sure you check all that out the
- 36:07action from
- 36:08TFX.
- 36:08TFX.
- 36:11I like this one from Lito, too.
- 36:14And if you did see number eighty-three
- 36:16compete in Kazakhstan and they were
- 36:17phenomenal, doesn't mean they were clean.
- 36:20Hope you all remember Pedro and Manwala's
- 36:22story about the forgotten growth hormone
- 36:23in the fridge.
- 36:28Facts.
- 36:30Facts.
- 36:32Yes, indeed.
- 36:33Yes, indeed.
- 36:35Yeah, man.
- 36:35TFX is going to be the frozen experience
- 36:38this weekend.
- 36:39Not so much the fittest experience.
- 36:43Jay Bird said yesterday the weather is
- 36:44supposed to clear out a little bit.
- 36:46Yeah,
- 36:46but it's still going to be like stupid
- 36:49cold.
- 36:49Like it's not going to be wet anymore
- 36:51because they were given snow.
- 36:53I got a buddy of mine going to
- 36:54compete in Masters Division.
- 36:55They were given snow and I think that
- 36:57went away.
- 36:59But it's still going to be because most
- 37:00of it's outside.
- 37:04Jenny says it's warming up.
- 37:05It's warming up.
- 37:06It's up to twenty-two.
- 37:08So it was,
- 37:09when I left the house this morning to
- 37:12go to the gym, it was twenty-three.
- 37:16Twenty-five.
- 37:17Yeah,
- 37:17twenty-five when I left this morning.
- 37:19And then when I left to come to
- 37:20work, it was still twenty-five.
- 37:23Hour and a half later.
- 37:25But it's going to be, yeah,
- 37:26it's going to be fifty-five degrees here
- 37:27in a little bit.
- 37:28It's actually kind of nice outside.
- 37:30When I let my dog out this morning,
- 37:31it was one.
- 37:34nope one and we are not going to
- 37:36hit freezing for two weeks jesus christ we
- 37:40are below freezing for two straight weeks
- 37:42so all that snow we got is not
- 37:44going anywhere for two weeks at least
- 37:53jenny will be in many layers
- 37:54unrecognizable even she's going to be a
- 37:57ninja
- 37:59Mm-hmm.
- 37:59Look like the kid from Christmas Story.
- 38:05I'm not built for it, dude.
- 38:06I got to the gym yesterday evening and
- 38:08it was still, it was in the forties,
- 38:09but the wind was blowing like ninety miles
- 38:11an hour.
- 38:12And I'm walking in and a friend of
- 38:13mine's walking out and trying to tell me
- 38:14about something they just wrote on the
- 38:15board.
- 38:16And I said, hold on for a second.
- 38:18And I stepped in the building and then
- 38:19held the door open.
- 38:20I was like,
- 38:22you may continue speaking now because I am
- 38:24not standing outside having a conversation
- 38:25with you.
- 38:26You are out of your mind.
- 38:30uh then it turns dirty slushy snow gross
- 38:33it ain't even going to turn to that
- 38:34because it is not melting no literally
- 38:38we've had like eight cars try to get
- 38:39out of our neighborhood today and they are
- 38:41they have bogged down in front of my
- 38:43house will it uh is it going to
- 38:46freeze altogether
- 38:51It has to melt to be water to
- 38:52freeze.
- 38:53Like right now it's just this light,
- 38:56fluffy snow and it's frozen that way.
- 38:59So unless it would get above thirty two
- 39:03to melt and then go back under and
- 39:05freeze,
- 39:06then it gets to be that icy stuff.
- 39:08We're not even getting that.
- 39:11So like the neighbor snow blowed and it
- 39:13all went up in the air.
- 39:14It's so light and fluffy.
- 39:15It all flew over towards our house.
- 39:20No, thank you.
- 39:22And Denise with the rub in it's sixty
- 39:23five here in SoCal.
- 39:29It is currently forty in Austin.
- 39:32It's probably about that here, too.
- 39:34Yeah.
- 39:35Forty one outside right now.
- 39:37Yep.
- 39:40Crazy.
- 39:41Crazy.
- 39:42Last time I was at TFX,
- 39:43it was cold,
- 39:44but it was cold because of the wind.
- 39:46It was windy out there.
- 39:49When the sun went down at all,
- 39:50it got cold.
- 39:52And I was coming from the north,
- 39:54hanging out down there.
- 39:57I haven't been in a couple of years
- 39:59though.
- 40:01Every year I say I'm going to do
- 40:02the qualifiers, try to qualify and go.
- 40:04And then every year it ends up like
- 40:06that.
- 40:06When they come out,
- 40:07I'm usually training for the last two
- 40:10years.
- 40:10I've been in the middle of training for
- 40:13legends or something along those lines.
- 40:14And I'm like,
- 40:16I don't have the mental capacity to try
- 40:18to put it at that aside to try
- 40:19to go do these qualifiers.
- 40:20Same thing for fitness of the coast.
- 40:22I really wanted to go do fitness of
- 40:23the coast and then completely missed the
- 40:25qualifiers because I was training.
- 40:26Uh, at AI.
- 40:29So global warming,
- 40:32global warmings from going pretty good so
- 40:33far.
- 40:34Yeah.
- 40:36Um,
- 40:37I did do my workout wearing three layers,
- 40:39gloves and a beanie, but hip depth.
- 40:43Yeah.
- 40:44Uh,
- 40:47Thin layers.
- 40:48Thin layers.
- 40:49I did.
- 40:49I brought my rower inside the lobby area
- 40:52of our gym where there's actually heating
- 40:54and air conditioning this morning and did
- 40:56my rowing intervals in basically where our
- 40:58pro shop is,
- 40:58like where we hang the shirts and shit
- 41:00like that,
- 41:01because I was not doing it in twenty
- 41:02five degrees inside the main area.
- 41:06No, thank you.
- 41:10Yeah.
- 41:11Good luck to the,
- 41:12the athletes will be warm, right?
- 41:14At TFX.
- 41:15Cause you're out there working out,
- 41:16laying it all out there.
- 41:18It's back to getting changed and all that
- 41:20stuff that that's going to suck.
- 41:23That's the problem.
- 41:24That's the problem.
- 41:25Like generally speaking in the morning
- 41:27time,
- 41:28I'll do like a monostructural piece and
- 41:30I'll knock out a bunch of accessories.
- 41:32Then I'll take my shot on and come
- 41:33to work.
- 41:33But like this morning I just, and yeah,
- 41:36this morning I just, I did my row.
- 41:39And then I took a shower and I
- 41:41came to work because I'm not going out
- 41:43there.
- 41:43I just,
- 41:44the thought of grabbing dumbbells or doing
- 41:46whatever else we got to do for our
- 41:48stuff, dude, is just,
- 41:49I'm going to go do it this evening.
- 41:51But like, it's just,
- 41:52it's not built for it, dude.
- 41:55It's just not,
- 41:56I used to be not so much anymore.
- 41:59You need to get yourself a pair of
- 42:00those Mark Wahlberg bitch mittens.
- 42:03So grab the dumbbells on these cold days.
- 42:07I actually have some.
- 42:10some soccer gloves I used to,
- 42:12and I have no idea where they are,
- 42:13that I bought specifically to run around.
- 42:16That's what gets me is my hands get
- 42:18cold.
- 42:18I don't feel like touching anything.
- 42:22know where they are i really do wish
- 42:25i could find them um because i have
- 42:27no problem no qualms about going in there
- 42:30and like doing you know some dumbbell bent
- 42:33over rows or whatever the case may be
- 42:35with my gloves on so i don't have
- 42:37to touch anything stupid cold not uh i'm
- 42:40with larry i'm naturally layered
- 42:50Amanda, ours is ice.
- 42:52You can go outside and stand on top
- 42:53of what looks like a foot of snow
- 42:54and not sink.
- 42:57The dog is sliding everywhere.
- 43:00Trying to take a poop.
- 43:02Yeah, my dog is so confused.
- 43:04We dug him out a path for him
- 43:06to poop,
- 43:07but he doesn't like to poop on the
- 43:08path because that's where he walks.
- 43:10He's trying to go into the snow and
- 43:13he goes into the snow and all you
- 43:14can see is the top of his head.
- 43:15That's funny.
- 43:27So, yeah, fun stuff.
- 43:30All right.
- 43:33Anything else going on, man?
- 43:37Doing Monster Games qualifiers start this
- 43:39weekend.
- 43:41Trying to go back to Kansas.
- 43:43I had fun last year.
- 43:49So we're trying to do that again.
- 43:50Other than that, dude, just training.
- 43:52I did figure something out this morning.
- 43:56So one of the things my coaches tasked
- 44:01me with is doing our two K rope
- 44:02progression.
- 44:03So I've been on that.
- 44:04We're on week six,
- 44:06day two was today and this morning.
- 44:10It dawned on me that when God was
- 44:11making my legs, he was like, all right,
- 44:13cool.
- 44:13They're going to be strong legs,
- 44:15like really strong.
- 44:16Like you're going to be able to clean
- 44:17upwards of three hundred pounds,
- 44:19snatch well over your body weight,
- 44:22put up squat numbers.
- 44:23They're going to be ridiculous for
- 44:24somebody your size, whatever.
- 44:25But when it comes to rowing,
- 44:28it's going to feel like you're going
- 44:29uphill against the current.
- 44:34Yeah, enjoy that if you like.
- 44:37and uh love you bye and it's just
- 44:39like rolled out because in rapids that's
- 44:41what i said in rapids uphill against the
- 44:44current every single time it was
- 44:47absolutely minor short mark believe me i'm
- 44:50telling you i'm five foot six dog i
- 44:51got a thirty inch inseam yeah but marks
- 44:55are weak and short um lito's got french
- 45:01throwdown qualifiers this thursday wish
- 45:03her luck
- 45:04We wish you all luck because she has
- 45:08rechargeable hand warmers and I stick foot
- 45:10warmers to my socks too.
- 45:11I'm so over winter.
- 45:14Rechargeable hand warmers.
- 45:16I am going to get on Amazon as
- 45:17soon as we get off this show.
- 45:19Yeah.
- 45:19They have like,
- 45:21you can charge up gloves that actually
- 45:22have heat inside the glove.
- 45:24You hit a button and they warm up.
- 45:27I can use those to run.
- 45:29I won't run outside if it's cold and
- 45:31the wind's blowing at all.
- 45:33I just won't run outside.
- 45:35And it's because my hands get numb.
- 45:39Like I'll be out there for forty five
- 45:42minutes, an hour or whatever.
- 45:43I don't have an air runner.
- 45:44If I did, it wouldn't be an issue.
- 45:48But yeah, my hands are getting numb,
- 45:49like my face, whatever I can layer up.
- 45:51That's not a big deal.
- 45:52But these things right here,
- 45:55I can't do it.
- 45:57But if I can get some electric hand
- 45:59warmers, I'm just saying.
- 46:05Well, Jay Birch says, where's it at?
- 46:08Shit.
- 46:11Oh, don't eat the yellow snow.
- 46:14You know what you should eat or drink
- 46:17is curdsie.
- 46:19Get that good night's sleep.
- 46:20Get that good night's sleep.
- 46:21I slept so hard last night.
- 46:24I needed every bit of it, too,
- 46:26to get through today.
- 46:27I feel so good today after that.
- 46:29I actually just re-upped last night.
- 46:32Surgey.com backslash Jazzy.
- 46:34Did you go there?
- 46:35I did.
- 46:36Fifteen percent off.
- 46:37Did you get the fifteen percent?
- 46:40Absolutely, I did.
- 46:41I even bought two packs because anything
- 46:45over a hundred bucks gets you free
- 46:47shipping.
- 46:49So I got two containers of the strawberry
- 46:52lemonade because we ain't got no more of
- 46:54the, uh, the other one should be here.
- 46:57They actually gave me an estimated
- 46:59shipping date already of Saturday.
- 47:01So by Saturday I should be re-upped and
- 47:04that'll be ten.
- 47:06That's another two months worth of, uh,
- 47:08good sleep.
- 47:08I just picked up.
- 47:09So.
- 47:09Yeah.
- 47:09Uh, train all of,
- 47:14I couldn't see the salted caramel.
- 47:15Yeah.
- 47:16They're out.
- 47:16They're out.
- 47:19And it's a big bummer for a lot
- 47:20of people.
- 47:21So all there is a strawberry lemonade,
- 47:23but I got two bags of it coming.
- 47:25So I hope it's good.
- 47:26Scott said it's good.
- 47:27So I believe him.
- 47:30Listen,
- 47:30I've taken a lot of supplements in my
- 47:32life and a lot of them have tasted
- 47:34like ass.
- 47:34A lot.
- 47:36Absolutely.
- 47:36I've still done them because I wanted the
- 47:38benefits of them.
- 47:40So my bar is not real high.
- 47:43But this actually tastes like a Kool-Aid
- 47:49fruit punchy type thing.
- 47:51I'm a big fan of strawberry lemonade.
- 47:53Not mine at all.
- 47:54Yeah,
- 47:54I'm a big fan of strawberry lemonade to
- 47:56begin with.
- 47:56So it would be hard for them to
- 47:58mess it up.
- 48:01Yeah.
- 48:02It is good.
- 48:03It is good.
- 48:03But when I hear people like, oh,
- 48:05I can't drink that.
- 48:06My God, I've drank some shit.
- 48:08Same.
- 48:10Oh, I need this creatine.
- 48:11It tastes like ass.
- 48:12Sure.
- 48:12I'm going to knock it down.
- 48:14I'm going to knock it down.
- 48:17Dude,
- 48:17when I think back to one of these
- 48:18kids and like Robitussin.
- 48:21Oh, yeah.
- 48:25It was disgusting,
- 48:26but it made me feel better afterwards,
- 48:27so I knocked it down.
- 48:28I just went on about my business.
- 48:31Are you old enough to remember back in
- 48:32the day they used to sell these pink
- 48:35wafers, and they called them candy?
- 48:37Oh, yeah.
- 48:40Freaking Pepto-Bismol.
- 48:41Necco wafers.
- 48:43Yeah, but they were pink,
- 48:44and they tasted like Pepto.
- 48:46Yeah.
- 48:49Who said, we want to make a candy,
- 48:52and we're going to flavor it like
- 48:53Pepto-Bismol?
- 48:55What are you going to make this taste
- 48:56like?
- 48:56Well, let's see.
- 48:59One thing kids cannot stand.
- 49:01Let's see if they'll eat it as a
- 49:02candy.
- 49:03A hundred percent.
- 49:07I still can't do Pepto-Bismol.
- 49:09I can do a lot of things.
- 49:09I cannot do Pepto.
- 49:11They have a cherry flavored Pepto-Bismol.
- 49:14Is it real cherry?
- 49:16I can drink it out of the bottle
- 49:17if my stomach is messed up enough.
- 49:18Okay.
- 49:19Okay.
- 49:20I'll take your word on it.
- 49:23Kool-Aid strawberry lemonade and country
- 49:25crock strawberry.
- 49:26I don't think it's country crock.
- 49:27I think that's the margarine.
- 49:29But country time, strawberry lemonade.
- 49:34Yeah.
- 49:35If country crock is making strawberry
- 49:37lemonade,
- 49:38I don't know if I want any of
- 49:39it because it's going to be buttery.
- 49:42spread it on toast maybe i'm not real
- 49:44sure no thank you i was asking someone
- 49:51do they even sell margarine anymore like
- 49:53everybody's gone back to straight butter
- 49:55and like i don't even see like country
- 49:57crock in the store maybe i'm just not
- 49:59looking for it i'll probably yeah i think
- 50:01i fall in the same category i'm just
- 50:02not looking for it i'll buy butter
- 50:05Actually, I don't buy butter.
- 50:08My mother-in-law came to my house one day,
- 50:09this was like three years ago,
- 50:11to watch Jameson for something or another
- 50:13while me and Jennifer were going,
- 50:14and we didn't have any butter.
- 50:16So the next time she went to Sam's,
- 50:18she bought us a five-pack of the butter
- 50:23sticks.
- 50:25And so...
- 50:26So we used it obviously,
- 50:28and we ran out and she bought more.
- 50:30So like,
- 50:30I haven't bought butter in three years or
- 50:32so because every once in a while,
- 50:33Jennifer,
- 50:34if we'll go over to my mother-in-law's
- 50:36house, she'd be like, mom,
- 50:37we're out of butter.
- 50:38And she'd be like, okay.
- 50:39And like two days later,
- 50:40an entire five pack of butter just shows
- 50:43up at my house.
- 50:45It's fantastic.
- 50:46There's a store here,
- 50:47like a little shack and they sell like
- 50:49fresh vegetables in the summertime.
- 50:51Probably not right now.
- 50:53They make the, or they don't make,
- 50:56they go get fresh butter from the Amish
- 50:58and they sell it as like a big
- 50:59roll.
- 51:01Dude, that stuff.
- 51:07Mark Phillips.
- 51:08Yeah.
- 51:08Butter's winning the war by far.
- 51:11As it should be.
- 51:14Yeah.
- 51:17For the discerning palate,
- 51:19does it taste like ass?
- 51:21That's the one I want.
- 51:26That's Scott's endorsement thing.
- 51:31Hey, it doesn't taste like ass.
- 51:33It's not an endorsement.
- 51:35It's really good flavoring.
- 51:38I'm just saying that with other
- 51:40supplements I've taken,
- 51:41I've really pinched the nose and guzzled
- 51:44it down.
- 51:47A lot of stuff over the years.
- 51:49That's a fact.
- 51:49When I was with Advocare,
- 51:51we did a fiber drink.
- 51:55It was chunky.
- 51:56It had zero flavor.
- 52:00If you can get that,
- 52:01it's like taking lawn clippings and
- 52:04throwing it in some water and shaking it
- 52:05up.
- 52:06Hold on.
- 52:07Let me stir this grass up a little
- 52:10bit for you.
- 52:12It'll be better once it's moving.
- 52:14No, it will not.
- 52:15It still tastes like, oh,
- 52:17it tastes like loincloth.
- 52:18Look, I'm good.
- 52:22You have to know what ass tastes like
- 52:24for it to taste like ass.
- 52:25Just saying.
- 52:27Well, in my former life.
- 52:30You know what kind of life we live?
- 52:34Travis.
- 52:35Yeah.
- 52:39Yeah, I've drank some really... Amanda,
- 52:44Advacare Fiber Drink,
- 52:45you got ten seconds before it's solid.
- 52:47And she ain't lying.
- 52:50She is not lying.
- 52:51Literally like shake, shake, shake,
- 52:53guzzle till it's gone.
- 52:54Because if not,
- 52:55it's just going solidified.
- 52:57Then you're just chewing, man.
- 52:58No, thank you.
- 53:02It was so nasty.
- 53:03No, thank you.
- 53:08Leave in the comments what supplement you
- 53:10thought was the hardest to get down.
- 53:12There it is.
- 53:13Bring it on, folks.
- 53:18Well, guys,
- 53:18I got to get back to work.
- 53:20Time for you knuckleheads to get back to
- 53:21work, too.
- 53:23We'll be back tomorrow for another show,
- 53:25and then I'm out the rest of the
- 53:27week.
- 53:29As long as I can get my car
- 53:30out of this neighborhood,
- 53:31I have surgery on Thursday and until
- 53:36Monday morning.
- 53:38I need a flamethrower.
- 53:40Just walk down the street.
- 53:42You can buy one from Elon Musk.
- 53:45Can you just picture me walking down the
- 53:51street with a flamethrower?
- 53:51Yes, I can.
- 53:53I would love for you to get a
- 53:54flamethrower.
- 53:54A hundred percent.
- 53:57There's that Schweitzer guy out there
- 53:58flame throwing his driveway again.
- 54:01I don't need the, my driveway is clear.
- 54:03It's the damn street.
- 54:04I've literally got to walk down the street
- 54:06flame throwing.
- 54:08Even better.
- 54:10See, you're getting me.
- 54:11And what's,
- 54:11I think the reason we're not getting
- 54:13plowed is because people park their car on
- 54:14the damn street instead of their driveway.
- 54:17And now the plow can't get through.
- 54:21I have a pet peeve with people parking
- 54:22on the street in my neighborhood.
- 54:25And then parking in front of their own
- 54:27house and there's nothing in the driveway.
- 54:30What the... Oh,
- 54:33there's a guy down my street that parks
- 54:35a car on each side of the street
- 54:37right beside each other and you have one
- 54:39narrow path to get through.
- 54:41And there's no way a plow can get
- 54:42between those two cars.
- 54:45And now we're all stuck in here.
- 54:49Drives me bananas.
- 54:51Yeah, I think we all live with that.
- 54:54That's just disrespectful, man.
- 54:56You don't own the damn street.
- 54:58We live in a community.
- 55:00You have a driveway.
- 55:05Every house in my neighborhood,
- 55:07every single house in my neighborhood has
- 55:10at a minimum a two-car garage that is
- 55:13attached to a driveway that goes all the
- 55:16way down to the street.
- 55:18I know from experience I can park two
- 55:21cars in the garage and another four,
- 55:24maybe five,
- 55:25if they're small enough in interest in the
- 55:27driveway,
- 55:28might as well do some shuffling to get
- 55:29them out,
- 55:30depending on who's leaving first,
- 55:31but it will keep them out of the
- 55:33street.
- 55:33Yup.
- 55:35Yup.
- 55:35I just don't care.
- 55:39Horrible man.
- 55:40There's a special place in hell for those
- 55:42people.
- 55:42A hundred percent.
- 55:44With that, on that note,
- 55:46have a great rest of your day.
