- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Finnish with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. We are so glad you are here with us again. Lucas: Today we are staying in the kitchen, but moving to a different stage. Luna: We talked about measuring and kneading recently. Now we need something lighter. Lucas: Exactly. We are going to talk about whisking and mixing. Luna: I love that part. It feels like magic when the mixture changes texture. Lucas: It does. Let us start with the first action. The most common one. Luna: What is the first thing we do? Lucas: You take the eggs. And you whisk them. In Finnish, we say Vaahtoitan munat. Luna: Vaahtoitan munat. Lucas: Good. Vaahtoitan munat. It means I whisk the eggs. Luna: Vaahtoitan munat. I whisk the eggs. Lucas: Perfect. Notice the ending. -tan because I am doing it. Luna: Right. So if I were telling someone what I just did, I would say Vaahtoitan munat. Lucas: Yes. Or in the past tense, Vaahtoin munat. But today we stick to present. Luna: Okay. Vaahtoitan munat. One, two, three times. Lucas: Excellent. Vaahtoitan munat. Vaahtoitan munat. Vaahtoitan munat. Luna: I have the rhythm now. What comes next? Lucas: Once the eggs are foamy, you add the flour. And you mix. Luna: Mixing. That sounds important. How do we say that? Lucas: We say Sekoitan taikinan. It means I mix the batter. Luna: Sekoitan taikinan. Lucas: Very good. Sekoitan taikinan. Taikinan is the batter. Luna: Sekoitan taikinan. I mix the batter. Lucas: Be careful not to overmix. Just until it is smooth. Luna: Got it. Smooth batter. Sekoitan taikinan. Lucas: Let us practice that one together. Sekoitan taikinan. Luna: Sekoitan taikinan. Lucas: Again. Sekoitan taikinan. Luna: Sekoitan taikinan. Lucas: One more time. Sekoitan taikinan. Luna: Sekoitan taikinan. Lucas: That was smooth. Like the batter itself. Now, the mixture is ready. Luna: Where does it go? Lucas: Into the oven. Laitan uuniin. It means I put it in the oven. Luna: Laitan uuniin. Lucas: Uuniin is into the oven. Remember the direction ending. Luna: Laitan uuniin. I put it in the oven. Lucas: Yes. Set the timer. And wait. Luna: Waiting is the hardest part. How do we say let it cool? Lucas: We use Anna jäähtyä. It means let it cool down. Luna: Anna jäähtyä. Lucas: Anna is let. Jäähtyä is to cool. So, Anna jäähtyä. Luna: Anna jäähtyä. Let it cool down. Lucas: Don't touch it while it cools. It needs to set. Luna: I can be patient. Anna jäähtyä. Lucas: Let's repeat that sequence. Anna jäähtyä. Luna: Anna jäähtyä. Lucas: Again. Anna jäähtyä. Luna: Anna jäähtyä. Lucas: Perfect. Finally, you taste it. How does it taste? Luna: It tastes sweet. Maku on makea. Lucas: Maku on makea. Exactly. The taste is sweet. Luna: Maku on makea. I love hearing that. Lucas: Let's review all five phrases together. Luna: Ready. Start with the eggs. Lucas: Vaahtoitan munat. Luna: Sekoitan taikinan. Lucas: Laitan uuniin. Luna: Anna jäähtyä. Lucas: Maku on makea. Luna: That felt really natural. I can imagine making a cake. Lucas: Me too. It is such a cozy process. Speaking of which... Luna: Is there something on your mind? Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with this language, and you want to support our ad-free mission, there is a simple way to do it. Luna: Yeah, we appreciate any support. It helps keep the episodes coming. Lucas: You can find us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo — that's F. E. X. I. N. G. O. Luna: Thank you for listening and for supporting us. It means a lot. Lucas: Back to the kitchen. Do you ever burn the bottom of the cake? Luna: Oh no. Not on purpose. I check the timer often. Lucas: Good habit. Because if it burns, it is not makea anymore. Luna: Right. Then it is poltettu. Burnt. Very different. Lucas: So remember to watch the oven. Laitan uuniin, and then watch closely. Luna: I will try that recipe this weekend. Vaahtoitan munat, and off I go. Lucas: Try it. And share the results with us. Even if they are just for you. Luna: Especially for me. I deserve a slice after practicing those phrases. Lucas: You certainly do. Maku on makea. Luna: Maku on makea. Thanks for teaching me, Lucas. Lucas: Thanks for learning with us, Luna. See you next time.
