- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Hey y'all, welcome to today's 75th episode of the Thor Floor Podcast.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Will Ernest.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Here today is my co-host, Evan Staker.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Hello, y'all.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: You know, I never thought we were gonna get to 75 episodes.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, neither did I.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Here we are.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I th I think this is a very fitting episode for it being the 75th episode, being we have a lot to talk about, and I may or may not have something else significant hanging up on the wall, but you know, uh that's okay.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Um got a couple other things to that I want to mention first, uh, television numbers for the co s the Cocoa 600 and the Indianapolis 500 last week.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm sold at this point.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Prime, I mean, they had like three million viewers when they used their uh when Nielsen used their new big data uh scanning system to like track viewers outside of traditional TV.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: I don't care.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Prime, buy out Fox's other like six years five or six years of the media deal.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: I don't care.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: That's gonna be a lot of money if they do that.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Hey, I mean TV TV's already billions of dollars anyway, so you probably at least 15 billion I already guess.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Pro I know the current media deal was like seven billion when they announced it, so yeah, probably probably like ten, but I don't know, just prime prime, I'm I'm sold.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, they they this is the most raw this is the most watched cup race since Talladega back in April, and it beats every single other FS1 cable race.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So I mean, I'm I'm sold at this point.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Clearly, people managed to find Amazon Prime this time.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: They did not have to struggle like last year.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Um also Ryan Priest's 25 point penalty and fifty thousand dollar fine uh was upheld for wrecking Ty Gibbs at Texas.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: It it hits different now because remember back then in early May we were talking about how Priest got penalized and how Kyle Bush was not, but you know, sadly hindsight is 2020.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: And we no longer have Kyle Bush with us.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: And that is very sad.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Um, but moving on now, uh, I want to talk IndyCar uh first the week after the Indy 500, once again back on the streets of Detroit as we get back on track for the rest of the season.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Last year, Alex Pelot came into Detroit having won five of the first six races, including the Indy 500 the week prior, but then wrecked out for his only DNF of the year, finishing 25th.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Of course, it didn't matter because he still went on to absolutely crush everybody in the championship.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: But I mean, Detroit's always been one of the most forgotten races on the calendar, but you know what?
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: It still pays points.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Points are points.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: And the championship is a lot closer than it was last year.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Um, but this year's Indy 500 champ, Felix Rosenquist, finished second at Long Beach from the pole and led the most slaps, but he finished second to Pelow, which that was the last time we raced on a street course.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Um and that was back in April.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Pillow still comes in as the points leader uh by 37 points over David Lucas, who came within um 23 yeah, 23 hundredths of a second away from winning the Indy 500 last week.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Very very close.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Very, very small.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Very close.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: It was the the closest Indy 500 finish in history.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Kyle Kirkwood's looking to go back to back um winning at Detroit, and he currently sits third in points, so we'll see what he does.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Normally Kyle Kirkwood is the best street racer in the series, but I mean you think about it like this Pillow won at St.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Pete and he won at Long Beach versus Kirkwood winning in Arlington when he beat Pillow and you know some would say Pillow had the faster car, but Kirkwood had the balls to make that move in 1014.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: So, say what you will.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Um but our picks and s uh our picks uh for the indie car race, I am picking Kyle Kirkwood, how how ironic is that?
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Um course he won last year at Detroit.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Evan, you're picking Alex Pillow.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Uh you hope you don't wreck again.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Hopefully we can have a better finish than last year.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Um especially since 25th nowadays would be dead last.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Um Haley with Joseph Newgarden.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Uh I remember Newgarden wrecking on the restart at the Indie 500 last week.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: That was not good.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: That was not no point at all.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: That was not good.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: No good.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Um Stacy with Will Power.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Can Will Power get anything going at Andretti?
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: No.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: It's like he always seems to find some way to screw himself over it.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: It's like John Brock.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Um Bernardo with Scott McLaughlin.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Um, just we'll see.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, he finished second at St.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Pete, so there's something.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: But I mean Malucas has been fast.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: He finished second at both the Indie Road Course and the Indie 500, and you know, Newgarden's always a factor, but Scott McLaughlin's just kind of just been there.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: You know.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And then Noah with Scott Dixon, who I believe I want to say won Detroit in 2024, I believe.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: And then we got part-timer picks for the first time.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: We got some new people joining the pod.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: We got new people.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Uh it's a couple of our friends from uh Spoon River Speedway, if you remember talking about that on the podcast uh a few weeks ago.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: But Ethan, who uh is a Kyle Bush fan, so uh uh pair of condolences.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: But he picked Pato Award and uh Zane, who's a Byron and Elliott fan, he he really wanted me to say that.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: But he picked David Malukas, who I mean, again, as we mentioned, second in the Indy Road course, second in Indy 500 by about mmm, I mean a little more than this much, but a little bit close.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: More like in the hand, I would say.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: More like yeah, close, close distance for sure.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: But getting into NHRA now.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: I ran into NHR and Fox's Brian Loans after the event in Chicago two weeks ago, which Evan, you you were in your car.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: Yes, I was I was ready to go.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: I was 13 hours was enough for me.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: But me and Brian Loans, we were talking for a few minutes, and a good chunk of that time was talking about how Maryland this weekend has the potential to be as fast as South Georgia was earlier this month if the weather cooperates.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: Based on what I've seen as as the local weatherman on the podcast.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: Local weatherman, emphasis on the local podcast.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the local podcast.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm not I'm not no weather channel expert, but or Jim Candori with the Torcons.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: But based on the weather showing being partly cloudy, partly sunny, and it's gonna be low 70s.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: So track go wee!
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Yes, especially with Maryland being right on sea level.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: It's definitely some optimal conditions.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: We could see records be broken.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Could.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: Possibly, possibly, maybe.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Um, we'll see.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: But here I was thinking that, or I guess we were thinking that this was going to be the biggest news coming into this weekend.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: That is uh far from the case.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's breaking, literally breaking about an hour ago before we started.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was gonna say breaking news.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Uh Pro Stock Motorcycles, second in points.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Matt Smith, he will not race this weekend.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: This chip Ellis will suffer him due to Smith being hospitalized by gallstones.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: At first they thought it was kidney stones, and then it was gallstones.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: So definitely prayers out because just saying the word gallstones sounds very painful.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: He's in a lot of pain.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: As a person who knows someone's had gallstones, they are not fun.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so prayers out there.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: But Smith came into this weekend having won the last two races, including the 66 Nationals at Chicago, that me and Evan were at two weeks ago.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: So hopefully Matt Smith can get back on his bike and chase a seventh Pro Stop Motorcycle World Championship.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: But back to the speed factor, if the conditions are right, we could see more record-breaking runs, and there's no better driver to do that than Coletta Motorsports Sean Langdon.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Langdon has also won the last two events at South Georgia and Chicago, and at South Georgia, he set the new sm the new national speed record at 345 miles per hour on that Friday, and route to the event win on Sunday.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Coletta Motorsports has won two in top fuel points with Langdon and Doug Coletta, and they've combined to win four of the first six top fuel races with Langdon winning three of them.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: So pretty pretty dominant start there.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: Langdon himself said he called it a dream team after his win at Chicago.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: But on the funny car side, Ron Caps and J.R.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Todd entered Maryland tied in the points.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Tied.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Can Ron Caps finally get back to his podium?
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Uh even with Caps' two wins to J.R.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Todd's zero wins, just J.R.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Todd's been so consistent to start the year.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: But both of Ron Caps Motorsports entries, they ran about the same two weeks ago in Chicago.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: Caps and Topfield's Matty Gordon.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: They both qualified number two.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: And then they both lost in round two to cars that eventually uh at least advanced to the final round.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Caps losing to Chad Green, who won in Funny Carr, and then Matty Gordon losing to Antron Brown, who lost in the final round to Langan in Topfield.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Um, so we'll see there.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: But Greg Anderson, he hopes to convert qualifying momentum into more wins.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: He's qualified number one at four of the first six races and has the provisional number one qualifier through the first qualifying session today, but he only has one win thus far.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Although Chicago would have definitely been a second win had he not gone ninety-six thousandths of a second.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he definitely should have won, but you know, hindsight.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, hindsight for sure.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: But it's definitely difficult being a new NHRA national event track, and we still have two more new tracks before the year is up.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: One totally new track and one other track that it's the it'll be the first time running a full national event, although they ran like an all-star format.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Of course, I'm talking about Rockingham, but that was back in 1998.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so technically mine is always two new tracks entirely, because 1998 to now, big difference.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: But we'll see what drivers and crew chiefs can tune up and for four pairs of them.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: They will get to hold a 75th anniversary diamond wally by the end of the day on Sunday.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Those those wallies look very nice.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: They're very shiny.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: I've seen them up close.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: You would have seen them up close had you not stayed in your vehicle at the end of Chicago.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: But heading to Nashville now, uh not not on Broadway.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Uh I've been down Broadway, it it's pretty wild.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: Watch out for flying chairs.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: If you know you know.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: In the truck series, Roger Caruth is the defending winner last year and looking to defend his race win.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Now he's in the seven truck um for Spire.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: But can Ram trucks keep the momentum going?
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: They've had some top tens and top 15s lately.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: I'm just hopefully Ram can finally fully figure it out.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: It's like they've kind of figured it out, but like, eh, like they need we we need them to take the next step.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: It's like, you know, they had some top twenties and then some top fifteens, and then they got some top tens, and it's like, okay, cool.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: That's like when are we gonna get Ram trucks in the top five?
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: When are we gonna get Ram trucks that could win?
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: That'd be crazy for the first career win in the first year.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: I mean they got five of them, so yeah, so they have a they have a decent shot.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: They actually work together.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: They got a decent shot if they work together, but we've seen other manufacturer support, you know, try to work together in the past, and it has not gone well.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: 2023 Taladay, yeah.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Can Caden Honeycut be as competitive as Corey Haim was last year?
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Hime last year in the 11 truck led 58 laps to finish second against Grouth, of course, Honeycutt in the 11 truck this year, and he has the truck series points lead over Lane Riggs, but only by 38 points, and Riggs and Honeycutt finished 1-2 at Charlotte just last week.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Granted, that was due to a countdown clock, and the race was pushed from Friday night to Sunday, but we don't talk about that.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: Um but our picks and our picks, uh, I am picking Caden Honeycutt because uh I have a good feeling.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: And because Caden Honeycutt is fast.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: And fast usually equals win.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: And that's what I need, being 105 back in the truck series points to you need some good momentum going.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: I need I need some help.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Um, Evan, you're picking Ben Rhodes, who finished fourth at Charlotte last week.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: How do you feel?
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Uh, not bad.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Not bad.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: Could be better.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: It could be better, it could be worse.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: We'll find out.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: Could have could have picked Lane Riggs last week, but you picked Chandler Smith.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Yes, I'm kicking myself over that.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: You'll you'll know why in the standings here in a minute.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: We're not talking about standings.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, my bad.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, my Dominic.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: Um Haley with Stuart Friesen, just don't spit out on the pet road.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Don't do that.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: Uh Stacy once again with Chandler Smith.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Don't spit out and hit the inside wall.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Don't do that.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Don't pull me from last weekend.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: Bernardo with Cory LaJoy.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Another ram truck.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: We we talked about ram trucks a little bit earlier.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: I'm not I'm not I don't know how to feel about the ram trucks.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: Rams just here for right now.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: Ram Ram's just here.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: Can they take the next step?
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: That's the question.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: That's that's the question.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Noah uh didn't really care about the truck series.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: He wanted to pick Clayton Green.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: That's a big question.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Don't wreck the truck.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: That's what Noah wants.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Noah Noah thinks the objective is to not wreck the truck.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: But you know what?
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna stop him.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Um and then Ethan with uh Christian Eckis and Zane with Daniel Hemrick, two Mackinelli trucks.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: They've ran good, but at the same time, like they're kind of just there.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: I mean, they're not bad.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: They can run in the top ten most weeks, but like they're kind of just there.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: You know, they're not tricons.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: No, they're not front row.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: So, yeah.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: In the O'Reilly series, Augar comes in as the defending winner in Nashville.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: Um, he's coming off not great race in Charlotte for me, finishing 29th, but to be fair, the strategy did not work out.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Not paying in his favor.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Rain cut the race short.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Unlike Trucks and Cup, it cut the you know, it cut the O'Reilly's race very short.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: 91 of the 200 laps.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: We didn't even get half the race in, but since we were after stage two, it technically was official.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, dumb.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Shouldn't be, but yeah.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Halfway to me is half the laps.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Zilich, uh, Connor Zilich finished second in the 88 car last year, which this year was supposed to be driven by Alex Bowman, but Kyle Larson has replaced him due to personal reasons.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: He was supposed to Bowman was supposed to also run at Darlington early this year, but Larson replaced him then because Bowman was going through his vertigo.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: So what a what a tough year for Alex Bowman.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: I mean he's had injuries and you know other issues in the past, but it seems like everything's just going on with Syria.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't know how to feel about you know other drivers taking his 48 car at Hendrick.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that's the right time to talk about it.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: I think that's more of an end-of-season discussion, but I've seen I've seen the ideas thrown around on the I don't know how to feel about that.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: Um Haas Factory team, hopefully they have a better weekend than last week in Charlotte.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Last week they both wrecked out and finished like 30th.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: Um, but last year in Nashville they finished third and fourth.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: So we'll see.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: And then just RCR seems to love to stick together, and maybe maybe that'll end up providing them with some well-deserved victories.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Last year, uh Love and Hill finished second and third.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Or sorry, last week they finished second and third at Charlotte, and last year in Nashville, Hill and Love finished seventh and eighth.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: But our picks for the O'Reilly's race, uh, I got Justin Algar, which again he's the defending winner.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Um, but it is Justin Olgar.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Points leader, points leader, Justin Olgayer.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: So hopefully does better than Charlotte last weekend.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: Hopefully this his points are not points.
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: Uh his strategy works out this time.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: That's the word I was looking though.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: We found the word.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: We had to go to uh do some vocabulary real quick.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Um Evan, you got Corey Day trying not to kill half the field.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Hey, he's doing pretty good.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: He is doing pretty good.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Without killing half the field.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: And I mean he won it over the last time we were on concrete, beating Justin Auger.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Just something to note there.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: Haley with uh Sammy Smith, Stacy with Jesse Love, who finished second at Charlotte last week, Bernardo with Sheldon Creed, uh Noah with Brent Cruz.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: I'm interested to see if Brent Cruz can rebound.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: He's now knocked out of the chase uh cut line due to his wreck at Charlotte, but I mean, being that he missed the f er four races early in the year, being he wasn't 18, and to be right there around the chase cut line, that's impressive in itself.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: So Ethan with uh Taylor Gray and Zane with Carson Quabble.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Just good picks.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: The question is, do they turn out?
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: Do they finish?
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: That's the yes, do they finish?
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: That's the million dollar question.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Does Cars Quabbel end up upside down?
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Repeat of Kansas.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: But in the Cup series, just concrete, it's a weird surface.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: It makes you think you have more grip than you actually do, and it punishes you for not respecting it.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: That's definitely something that concrete car would tell you.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Um But Bristol, Dover, and Nashville, they are the only three tracks and four races on the calendar that are on concrete.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: We've already ran two of them.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Ty Gibbs won at Bristol back in April before Denny Hamlin won the All-Star Race at Dover two weeks ago.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Hamlin was in contention last year in Nashville and should have won in 24, uh, along with Byron, but it was Ryan Blaney who emerged victorious after the 300 laps I witnessed since I was there last year.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Um, too bad I can't go this year because on Sunday I graduate high school.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: That's kind of why my cap and gown are chilling up here on the wall.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Give me a little golf clap.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: Little golf clap for me graduating and getting this fancy thing called my high school diploma.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: How d how did how did it feel, Evan, since you graduated last year?
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: Any words of advice?
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Um Do what you love.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: I like some of that.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, I wonder what I love.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Financial decisions.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there we go.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: Um but Blaney's still the only Ford driver to win for them uh in over a year since the last time a Ford driver other than Ryan Blaney won a points paying race was Logano at Texas last year.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: That's just why.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: What is up with Ford?
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: Ford is struggling.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: Ford isn't even running in the O'Reilly series, and they're struggling in the Cup series.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: They have no truck series they're firing on all cylinders.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: But the other two, what ain't going on?
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: No good.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: They're really no good.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: Uh Carson Hospital finished second last year in Nashville.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: I kind of forgot that happened, but it it it did happen.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: And the more I think about it, at both Dover and the All-Star race and Charlotte the last two weeks, he's had some of the fastest cars, but he's gotten screwed over either by cautions or terrible pit road execution.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: So we'll see what happens this time.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: Can we please ride the dente?
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Can we not have a Ryan Blaney picker?
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Can we not have a Ryan Blaney picker?
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: Ryan Blaney had a terrible pit stop at Charlotte last week, too.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: The only difference is Blaney recovered because he's used to it.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: Host bar's not used to a terrible Ryan Blaney picker.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: But our picks, uh, I picked uh Danny Hamlin.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: Finally went in Asheville.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: Please.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: Please, you should have won in 22, you should have won 24, should have won last year.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Um four times charm, I guess.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: I mean, there there's no threat of him possibly leaving to have a baby this year.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: So I remember last year I was in the hotel room, I found that out, and I about smashed my phone on the ground.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: So we don't talk about that.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Evan with Joey Logano, you're trying to get Ford's uh first win in a points paying race in over a year, not named Ryan Lane.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, you did Logano did win at Nashville two years ago.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: We don't talk about how he didn't win.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the how is the question, but the how five overtimes.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Ugh.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Not fun.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Hopefully the lagooner can actually get some good speed this week.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: Speed?
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: What's that?
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: He doesn't know what that is.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: He does not.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: He does not.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Uh Haley with Austin Cindrick.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: Uh just try not to tear up the car.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: Hopefully he doesn't hit and get a 7-10 split by his Connor Zilich this week.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Stacy with Ryan Blaney, the defending winner.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that's right.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: We got all three Penske cars for our picks this week.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: I don't know how to feel about that.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: It's like a Penske takeover.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: Of course, Penskey would love that, but that that's Penske thing.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Bernardo with Kyle Larson.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Larson is on the pre-race graphic, but Larson has not won in over a year.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: He's not won since Kansas.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Um which I was at that race too.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: But the last two defending Cup Series champions both have win the streaks of over a year.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: That's no good.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: That they're really not good.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Uh Noah with Chase Elliot just Elliott needs help.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: Outside of his win at Texas, his month of May, which I guess we still technically have this Sunday because it's the last day of May, but whatever.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: But up to this point, outside of Texas, the rest of his month of May has been absolute garbage.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Highlighted by, of course, his wreck at Charlotte last week just losing it off of turn two after like 90 laps.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: He lost some talent there.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: It's like it's it's like Chandler Smith's wreck, only Chandler Smith uh got loose underneath Zilich, battling for third late in a shortened race when they knew it was going to end, and uh got loose due to the the air, you know?
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: Uh Elliot just wrecked.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Elliot just decided, you know, die.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Two different things.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Uh Ethan with Tyler Reddick, which I guess if you technically look really hard and close enough, Reddick is also on the graphic, but do we really count that?
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: No.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: But it's Tyler Redick.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: Are you kidding me?
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: Like Tyler Tyler Reddick's got a chance to win anywhere.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Reddick, Reddick is a threat.
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: Redick is a threat.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: And Zayn with William Byron, who uh along with Danny Anlin, were the two main challengers to Ryan Blaney last year for the victory.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: Of course, Blaney still won.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: So we'll see in uh House Hostar segment, uh, where we of course see how Carson Hospar is.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: Uh they ran they ran a Z Max Dragway with the with uh Ruby, the red corvette.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: They had a bunch of NASCAR drivers there uh with Clays LeBron along with Hostbar.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: They had Connor Zilich there, Jesse Love was there, Ricky Stenhouse was there, Ty Dillon was there, the Michael McDowell was there.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: They ran they ran the drag car down, uh some of them chicken footed.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah so some of them some of them uh didn't make it all the way.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: Um then it started raining, so host bar didn't even get to run uh Ruby, but he still drifted the the the Biffle car around, so he got to have some fun.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: Then he ran Spectrum Night in America, uh what was it, last night at Pokenol and Auto Club, they lined up all the trophy trucks in one line, like it was a motocross start.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Normal Carson Hospar uh shenanigans.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm just glad I'm getting my chili sat finally after like a month of ordering it.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: It's finally uh currently shipping, so finally.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: Little golf clap, little golf clap, it just has to make it here.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Big difference, and then not get stolen, but we're gonna talk about that.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, just Hostwar has a chance at Nashville.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: He finished second last year.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: It's a decent track, he's had decent speed, Dover the last time we ran on concrete, you know, he had a halfway fast car, just got kind of screwed.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: He's gotten kind of screwed lately in general, but just he has a chance.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: Just Pit Crew, not not be bad.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Please, please, please be good, Pit Crew.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: But uh thanks to for thanks for listening to this segment of House Host Bar, where we find out how Hostar is.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: But huge weekend with all three top NASCAR series at Nashville Super Speedway, Indy Car on the Streets of Detroit, NHRA with the inaugural NHRA Botomic Nationals presented by Jegs, uh, from Maryland International Raceway, and plus, well, if you haven't figured it out yet, or if you weren't paying attention about five to ten minutes ago, uh I graduate on Sunday from high school.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: Hold the applause, please.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Uh but yeah, we got a full house weekend on tap.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: We'll uh recap it all on Monday, but that's all we got for today's 75th uh episode of the Thorle Floor Podcast.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: Make sure you tune in and listen and watch and download on Spotify Apple Podcasts, YouTube, check out the chill photography and Thor of the Four Podcast, Instagrams, and TikToks.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: So the Chicago picks are up.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Yes, they're pretty nice.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: They're pretty nice to them.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Uh tell me what I can do better.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: I don't really care, I'm not your dad.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, I never really thought we would get to 75 episodes.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: I didn't either.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: I never I never thought we would get to that.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: And here's for 75 more.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: I guess a lot more than 75.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: 75 more.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Cheers.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Poor enough for KB.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, that's all we got, and we'll see y'all on Monday.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Have a good night, y'all.
