- 0:06Speaker 1: his podcast. Now back to the Mark Simone show on
- 0:10Speaker 1: WOR Hey, let's taken calls eight hundred three two one
- 0:17Speaker 1: zero seven ten. Is the number eight hundred three two
- 0:20Speaker 1: one zero seven ten. Let's go to Rich in Myrtle Beach. Rich,
- 0:24Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 0:25Speaker 2: Hey? Thanks Mark. Last night, when I was watching the
- 0:28Speaker 2: basketball basketball game, I've got a phone survey from the
- 0:32Speaker 2: American Survey Company asking about my radio listening habits AM
- 0:37Speaker 2: and FM. Yeah, that's the first time that's ever happened
- 0:39Speaker 2: to me. So I told him, I said, listen, what
- 0:42Speaker 2: do you listen to? I said, well, I listened to
- 0:43Speaker 2: WOOR from ten to noon. And what do you listened to?
- 0:46Speaker 2: I said, I listen to Mark Samo And he goes
- 0:48Speaker 2: and he couldn't understand my accent because this guy had
- 0:50Speaker 2: a Spanish accent also, but he says WOA. I said,
- 0:54Speaker 2: no WR. And he says, what do you listen to
- 0:56Speaker 2: an FM? I said, I don't listen to FM radio
- 0:58Speaker 2: in South Carolina, but to w R two hours a
- 1:01Speaker 2: day from Marx Simone. And I listened on iHeartRadio and
- 1:06Speaker 2: he's asking you know my name, and you know how
- 1:08Speaker 2: old are you? And how many people in the house
- 1:10Speaker 2: and all that kind of crap. And he says, what
- 1:11Speaker 2: do you listen to for music? I said, I listened
- 1:13Speaker 2: to this to serious radio. After Mark Simone, I go
- 1:17Speaker 2: to the Grateful Dead channel. Listen to the concert of.
- 1:19Speaker 1: The day, Grateful Dead channel, Oh.
- 1:23Speaker 2: My god, yeah, grateful my buddy Bob and San Diego. Yeah.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But the uh IF. I listened to the Beatle Channel,
- 1:29Speaker 2: and they got nice channels. I'm serious, like pop and
- 1:32Speaker 2: country hits. So you got to pop hit, then you
- 1:34Speaker 2: get a country hit from all different decades. But I
- 1:36Speaker 2: thought it'd be interesting because that's one of the first surveys.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And I was in radio for twenty five years too,
- 1:41Speaker 2: but that's the first time I ever got cold about
- 1:43Speaker 2: a radio survey. And how old are you? How much
- 1:46Speaker 2: you make? I said, I'm not answering that question, but
- 1:48Speaker 2: I told him, I said, for two hours every day,
- 1:50Speaker 2: five days a week, it's wo R Mark Simone from
- 1:53Speaker 2: ten to noon, and I go listen to Serious. I
- 1:56Speaker 2: couldn't even tell him the call letters of an FM
- 1:58Speaker 2: station in South Carolina because I.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Well, unfortunately nobody's ever heard of the American Survey Company.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I don't know who the hell that is or where
- 2:05Speaker 1: the service. Yeah, well, thanks for mentioning us, Thanks for
- 2:09Speaker 1: thanks for that. Good, good good. I know, yeah, I
- 2:12Speaker 1: don't know, you know. I mean there's like Nielsen Ratings,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and there's uh, what else do we use. There's a
- 2:18Speaker 1: few rating services that that we use here in radio,
- 2:21Speaker 1: But I don't know. They've never heard of the American
- 2:23Speaker 1: Survey Company. You know, people always say when you talk
- 2:26Speaker 1: about surveys, well, nobody ever asked me, Or when you
- 2:29Speaker 1: talk about a poll, I don't know about these polls.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Nobody ever pulled me. Well, uh, that's it doesn't matter.
- 2:35Speaker 1: They pulled somebody like you. If it's a really good poll,
- 2:39Speaker 1: they've got a representative sample of everybody. And I believe
- 2:42Speaker 1: it or not, I have been contacted by poles, even
- 2:45Speaker 1: rating companies. I've been uh, you know, you have to
- 2:48Speaker 1: tell them you can't do it, you're you know so.
- 2:52Speaker 1: But I've actually been contacted a few times. Let's go
- 2:55Speaker 1: to Bill in Pennsylvania. Bill, how you doing? Ah?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Hi, Mark, here's the I agree with the comedian Robers.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Foster Brooks of Pennsylvania, go ahead.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I agree with Rob Schneider about the
- 3:10Speaker 3: Nineteenth Amendment. I mean, I think we should allow women
- 3:14Speaker 3: to vote. Just not unimportant.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Well that's very open of you. You know, you think
- 3:18Speaker 1: we should allow women to vote. That would not be
- 3:20Speaker 1: too controversial.
- 3:22Speaker 3: No, just not on an important thing.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Oh, just not unimportant talk all right? Phil Foster Brooks Junior,
- 3:29Speaker 1: thank you for calling. It's hard to believe women were
- 3:33Speaker 1: not allowed to vote until was it somewhere in the twenties?
- 3:36Speaker 1: Can you imagine that? Do you imagine that finally let
- 3:39Speaker 1: it was controversial to let women vote. Let's go to
- 3:43Speaker 1: Albert in Keyport, Albert. How you doing?
- 3:46Speaker 3: What's happened? I usually call sports shows, but you're raped
- 3:50Speaker 3: by the sports thing and I heard you talking anyway,
- 3:52Speaker 3: Thanks for taking my call.
- 3:54Speaker 1: What do you call the sports shows about?
- 3:58Speaker 3: You know, the different guys who play stuff that you know,
- 4:01Speaker 3: you know, just talk about sports and stuff. I mean,
- 4:04Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying.
- 4:06Speaker 1: It's hard to listen to that sports radio. Uh, it's
- 4:08Speaker 1: just a bunch.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Of some of them, some of the ones that are
- 4:11Speaker 3: on right now in the morning, I can't stand them,
- 4:14Speaker 3: you know what I mean?
- 4:15Speaker 1: But the whole thing. I used to listen to Mike Francessa.
- 4:18Speaker 1: He was good. He seemed to know all kinds of
- 4:19Speaker 1: inside stuff that nobody else knew, so that was interesting.
- 4:23Speaker 1: But outside of that, these sports shows are like, it's
- 4:25Speaker 1: a bunch of guys in a bar arguing about their opinions.
- 4:28Speaker 3: The one is the one, the ones they got going out.
- 4:30Speaker 3: They just switched the one thing. They switched their whole routine,
- 4:33Speaker 3: and they messed up the whole thing. They got to
- 4:35Speaker 3: take us some really ignorant people. It's just I wanted
- 4:39Speaker 3: to say something about thank you for taking a call.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It's not a calaistic What I often wondered is why
- 4:47Speaker 3: didn't she had twenty four hour guards on that premises
- 4:51Speaker 3: with her mother here being that old.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Because would think to have it. That's the house she
- 4:56Speaker 1: grew up in, lived there all her life. There's absolutely
- 4:59Speaker 1: no crime in the neighborhood, no crime at all.
- 5:01Speaker 3: They know who she was. Somebody knew who she you know,
- 5:04Speaker 3: evidently they knew who she was and where she was.
- 5:07Speaker 3: It's just she's eighty. It wasn't like she was fifty
- 5:09Speaker 3: or something. She was eighty four with a pacemaker. I'm
- 5:12Speaker 3: not putting anything on.
- 5:14Speaker 1: You know, it would be highly unusual. The biggest celebrities
- 5:16Speaker 1: in the world don't have guards on their mother's house.
- 5:19Speaker 1: It's just not something.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yea, they ought. It's the way it is going now.
- 5:22Speaker 3: It's the world's so crazy. It's not really that that's
- 5:25Speaker 3: out of the question.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's interesting. You bring up a good point. Well,
- 5:28Speaker 1: thanks for calling. Yeah that maybe now some celebrities or
- 5:32Speaker 1: mother living alone somewhere now they're hiring guards. It's just
- 5:36Speaker 1: you know, now, did you see this Howard Stern lawsuit?
- 5:39Speaker 1: Howard Stern had a personal assistant. He's got a few
- 5:42Speaker 1: of them, but this one was basically working in his
- 5:44Speaker 1: Southampton house, managing that house. She's now suing him. I
- 5:50Speaker 1: can't see what she's suing him over. She's she can't
- 5:53Speaker 1: seem to explain what it is. She claims a hostile
- 5:56Speaker 1: work environment, but she hasn't explained what was so hostile.
- 6:00Speaker 1: She was getting two hundred and sixty five thousand a
- 6:02Speaker 1: year to be the personal assistant. That doesn't seem that hostile,
- 6:07Speaker 1: she said. She was forced to sign a non disclosure agreement,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and in the non disclosure she was not allowed to
- 6:14Speaker 1: reveal anything about what goes on in the household. She
- 6:18Speaker 1: was not allowed to reveal what they eat, what consumer
- 6:20Speaker 1: products they use, what their travel arrangements are, where they stay,
- 6:25Speaker 1: locations of their residents. Well, that makes sense. I can
- 6:29Speaker 1: understand not wanting somebody to reveal that. So so far,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I still can't figure out what the lawsuit is over.
- 6:35Speaker 1: She was not allowed to reveal private conversations they were
- 6:37Speaker 1: having their political stuff. Well, it makes sense. I would
- 6:42Speaker 1: think anybody with a celebrity would make somebody sign that.
- 6:45Speaker 1: So we still can't figure out what this lawsuit is over.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Let's go to Joe in Elmwood Park. Joe, how you doing.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Good morning Mark, Good morning Frince.
- 6:53Speaker 2: How come nobody talks about the base that we lost?
- 6:56Speaker 3: Wouldn't he the Iranian mission.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Be easier if we had that base?
- 7:02Speaker 1: What base?
- 7:03Speaker 2: The base in Afghanistan that the other two gave away.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I don't know that we'd need that base. Now. We
- 7:11Speaker 1: don't need it for any reason. We can do the
- 7:13Speaker 1: whole thing from here, believe it or not. The bombing
- 7:15Speaker 1: of the nuclear reactor was all done from Florida. We
- 7:17Speaker 1: don't need that base. Okay, thanks for calling the problem
- 7:21Speaker 1: he's talking about. When Biden pulled out of Afghanistan, the
- 7:24Speaker 1: most embarrassing bungled up military situation in US history. He
- 7:29Speaker 1: left billions of dollars worth of equipment lying there, all
- 7:32Speaker 1: sorts of advanced sophisticated weaponry, just left it there, and
- 7:37Speaker 1: it fell into the hands of our enemies, and Afghanistan
- 7:39Speaker 1: and terrorist ISIS got a hold of it. The problem
- 7:42Speaker 1: with that base is China. And that's the problem. That base,
- 7:47Speaker 1: believe it or not, was very very close to China,
- 7:49Speaker 1: closer to China than any other base we've got. That's
- 7:53Speaker 1: one reason we should have kept it. It was about Bagram
- 7:55Speaker 1: Air Base. But China has probably taken it over it
- 7:59Speaker 1: they're now using it. And all those weapons that were
- 8:02Speaker 1: left on the ground and taken fell in the hands
- 8:04Speaker 1: of ISIS that probably somewhere in Iran and are being
- 8:08Speaker 1: used against us as we speak, thanks to Joe Biden. Hey,
- 8:12Speaker 1: the other thing is you'll hear all these people, these
- 8:14Speaker 1: pannikins who are all upset about the ranning. We're say,
- 8:17Speaker 1: look what it's done to the stock market. Has crushed
- 8:19Speaker 1: the stock MOI hasn't crushed the stock market. It is
- 8:22Speaker 1: down about five percent. It'll remember we went through this
- 8:26Speaker 1: with the tariffs where the stock market came down ten percent,
- 8:28Speaker 1: fifteen percent, well, which once that was settled, it's sore
- 8:32Speaker 1: to all time new highs, set new records. It'll do
- 8:35Speaker 1: that here. But also, even at this moment with it down,
- 8:38Speaker 1: it's still way above where it was under Joe Biden.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Ever since President Trump took office, it's up. It's way up.
- 8:46Speaker 1: So hey, when we come back to brilliant columnist Liz Peak,
- 8:49Speaker 1: we'll talk to her next on seven to ten wor
