- 0:38Speaker 3: I still have a dream.
- 0:41Speaker 4: It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
- 0:46Speaker 3: I have a dream. But one day.
- 0:51Speaker 4: This nation will rise up and live out the true
- 0:56Speaker 4: meaning of its creed.
- 0:58Speaker 3: We hold these two is to be.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Self evident that all men are created. I have a
- 1:14Speaker 4: dream that one day, on the red hills of Jordan,
- 1:20Speaker 4: the sons of farmer slaves and the sons of farmer
- 1:24Speaker 4: slave owners will be able to sit down together at
- 1:28Speaker 4: the table of brotherhood. I have a.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Dream that one day.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the
- 1:40Speaker 4: heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will
- 1:47Speaker 4: be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I have a dream my.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Four little children one day live in a nation where
- 2:01Speaker 4: they will not be judged by the color of their skin,
- 2:04Speaker 4: but by the content of their character. I have a
- 2:07Speaker 4: dream today. I have a dream that one day, down
- 2:23Speaker 4: in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having
- 2:30Speaker 4: his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification,
- 2:34Speaker 4: one day, right now in Alabama, little black bars and
- 2:38Speaker 4: black girls will be able to join hands with little
- 2:41Speaker 4: white bars and white girls as sisters and brothers.
- 2:44Speaker 3: I have a dream today.
- 2:53Speaker 4: I have a dream that one day every valley shall
- 2:56Speaker 4: be exalted, every hill and mounting shall be we may load,
- 3:00Speaker 4: the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked
- 3:03Speaker 4: places will be made straight, And the blow of the
- 3:06Speaker 4: Lord shall be revealed in our flesh shall see it together.
- 3:10Speaker 4: This is our hope, This is the faith that I
- 3:14Speaker 4: go back to the South with. With this thing, we
- 3:18Speaker 4: will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair,
- 3:21Speaker 4: a stone of hope. With this fame, we will be
- 3:26Speaker 4: able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into
- 3:30Speaker 4: a beautiful symphony of brotherhood.
- 3:33Speaker 3: With this theme, we will be.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together,
- 3:39Speaker 4: to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom, together,
- 3:43Speaker 4: knowing that we will be free.
- 3:45Speaker 5: One day.
- 3:48Speaker 3: This will be the day. This will be the.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Day, with all of God's children be able to sing
- 3:56Speaker 4: with new meaning. My country tears, the sweet land of
- 4:01Speaker 4: liberty of br sing Land, where my fathers died, land.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Of the Pilgrims.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Fry from every mountain side. Let freedom ring, And for
- 4:12Speaker 4: Americas to be a great nation, this must become true.
- 4:17Speaker 4: And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of
- 4:21Speaker 4: New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of
- 4:26Speaker 4: New York.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Let freedom ring from the.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Heightening alleghenies of Pennsylvania. Let freedom ring from the snow
- 4:33Speaker 4: capped rockies of Colorado. Let freedom ring from the creation
- 4:38Speaker 4: of slops of California.
- 4:40Speaker 3: But not only that, Let freedom ring from stone.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Mountain of Georgia. Let freedom ring from lookout Mountain of Tennessee.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Let freedom ring from every hill and mole Hill of Mississippi,
- 4:57Speaker 4: from every mountain side, let freedom ring. And when this happens,
- 5:05Speaker 4: when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring
- 5:10Speaker 4: from every village and every hamlet, from average state and
- 5:14Speaker 4: every city, we will be able to speed up that
- 5:18Speaker 4: day when all the gout children, black men and white men,
- 5:23Speaker 4: shoes and tentiles, Protestants and Catholics, we'll be able to
- 5:27Speaker 4: join hands and sing in the words of the old
- 5:30Speaker 4: Negro spiritual freehead, last free ad, last, thank Cotta, mighty
- 5:36Speaker 4: free a free at last.
- 5:44Speaker 6: I can never hear that enough.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Welcome in, Glad to have you with us on this

- 6:47Speaker 1: get in price. When I checked a couple of hours ago,
- 6:53Speaker 1: was thirty two hundred dollars to sit at the top
- 6:58Speaker 1: of hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. I don't
- 7:03Speaker 1: know when the game will kick off. I haven't seen
- 7:08Speaker 1: the exact kickoff time, but we got a lot of
- 7:13Speaker 1: pregame and a lot of commercials to play.
- 7:15Speaker 6: I do know that.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Don't expect the CFP Management Committee to reach an agreement
- 7:21Speaker 1: on expansion. The deadline is Friday. They had a meeting today.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Nothing changed the SEC one sixteen team playoff the Big
- 7:32Speaker 1: Ten once a twenty four team playoff. ESPN has not
- 7:37Speaker 1: quite put its foot down because I'm not sure they've
- 7:42Speaker 1: decided what would be the best for them to make
- 7:47Speaker 1: the most money. Speaking of which, the Wall Street Journal's
- 7:53Speaker 1: annual study of college football's wealthiest wealthiest program has the
- 8:00Speaker 1: Aggies and the Longhorns as one and two. Texas is
- 8:07Speaker 1: valued at two point one billion dollars. An m is
- 8:14Speaker 1: valued at close to one point six billion dollars. Ohio State, LSU,
- 8:25Speaker 1: Michigan round out the top five than Notre Dame Georgia
- 8:32Speaker 1: in state Alabama, Nebraska. I had this written down of
- 8:39Speaker 1: the top twenty fourteen from the SEC or Big ten
- 8:51Speaker 1: among the top fifteen, So the rich are getting richer
- 8:58Speaker 1: at this amateur spece sports thing. The Aggie basketball team
- 9:03Speaker 1: at the top of the standings at four and one
- 9:08Speaker 1: in the SEC.
- 9:12Speaker 6: Is that right?
- 9:13Speaker 7: Four and one?
- 9:15Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 9:16Speaker 1: After taking down the Longhorns at the Moody Center on
- 9:21Speaker 1: Saturday seventy four to seventy. As I mentioned, we will
- 9:25Speaker 1: hear from both coaches coming up here in a few minutes.
- 9:29Speaker 1: The SEC Player of the Week, Rubin Chinelu average nineteen
- 9:34Speaker 1: and a half points, eleven rebounds, to blocks and wins
- 9:38Speaker 1: against Oklahoma and Vanderbilt. Alabama GUARDA Mari Allen six eight
- 9:44Speaker 1: freshmen average twelve and a half points, ten and a
- 9:47Speaker 1: half boards, three assists and one and a half steals
- 9:51Speaker 1: and wins against Mississippi State and Oklahoma. He is the
- 9:55Speaker 1: SEC Freshman of the Let's see, I'm gonna have to
- 10:05Speaker 1: go get this because I threw away the wrong one
- 10:08Speaker 1: with the SEC. But the Aggies next game I do
- 10:12Speaker 1: know this is coming up on Wednesday night at eight
- 10:17Speaker 1: oclock number one team in the nation in college basketball,
- 10:22Speaker 1: Arizona it's unanimous, Yukon, Michigan perdue Duke Houston, Nebraska still unbeaten. Gonzaga,
- 10:35Speaker 1: Iowa State, Michigan State Tech is twelve, Vanderbilt is fifteen,
- 10:44Speaker 1: Florida is sixteen, Alabama is seventeen, Arkansas is twenty, Georgia
- 10:52Speaker 1: is twenty one A and m is still near the
- 10:55Speaker 1: bottom of the others receiving votes. To Sea dropped out
- 11:01Speaker 1: after coughing up a big lead at home to lose
- 11:05Speaker 1: to Kentucky Saturday. The Texas Rangers signed a pitcher, Jacob
- 11:10Speaker 1: Junas one year, four million dollars two nine to seven
- 11:15Speaker 1: in fifty seven games for Cleveland a year ago. Chris
- 11:22Speaker 1: Young said earlier this month, pitching's the main focus. The
- 11:26Speaker 1: club continues to try to get its roster ready for
- 11:29Speaker 1: spring training, which, by the way, ain't that far away.
- 11:34Speaker 1: They're playing the first major tennis tournament of the year
- 11:38Speaker 1: down under. Novak Djokovic was a straight set winner today
- 11:44Speaker 1: over Pedro Martinez. Americans Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton will
- 11:50Speaker 1: play later this evening. Calling the PGA Tour the best
- 11:55Speaker 1: tour in the World. Patrick Reid said he'd consider return
- 12:00Speaker 1: if given the opportunity. He said, if it was up
- 12:04Speaker 1: to me, I'd play everywhere. The twenty eighteen Masters chap
- 12:09Speaker 1: was not afforded the opportunity given to Brooks, Koepka, John
- 12:13Speaker 1: Rob Bryson, d Chambeau and King Smith. Since the start
- 12:17Speaker 1: of Live Golf's twenty twenty two debut, Reid said, I've
- 12:23Speaker 1: already playing on three tours, why not add one more?

- 13:56Speaker 1: Welcome back, Thanks for joining us on this Monday Writers Round,
- 14:00Speaker 1: coming and run the second hour of the program.
- 14:04Speaker 10: Right now, we're gonna hear.
- 14:05Speaker 1: A little post game from both the coaches on Saturday.
- 14:09Speaker 1: First of all, losing coach Sean Miller of the Longhorns, Well,
- 14:15Speaker 1: first of all.
- 14:16Speaker 6: I like to congratulate Texas A and M and Bucky.
- 14:19Speaker 6: I thought they came in with a lot of poise,
- 14:22Speaker 6: a lot of toughness. They have an identity as a
- 14:25Speaker 6: basketball team, playing full court and playing with great pressure
- 14:30Speaker 6: and togetherness on both defense and offense. And I think
- 14:34Speaker 6: they got a great bench. You know, game in and
- 14:36Speaker 6: game out, they've had explosive plays and production from their bench.
- 14:41Speaker 6: And they came in here and they were the better
- 14:44Speaker 6: team today. They outclassed us. They were the better team
- 14:48Speaker 6: from start to finish. I thought there's a couple of
- 14:51Speaker 6: key points in the game. Number One, we didn't get
- 14:55Speaker 6: much from our bench. If you look at our bench
- 14:57Speaker 6: versus their bench, it was a heavy, heavy, lean. And
- 15:01Speaker 6: in no way did we lose the game just because
- 15:03Speaker 6: of that. But if one team really is playing those
- 15:06Speaker 6: nine or ten guys and they're getting great production, it's
- 15:10Speaker 6: really important that on our end that we can get
- 15:12Speaker 6: some quality production from our bench. And if you look
- 15:15Speaker 6: at it, it was heavily favored on their end, just
- 15:20Speaker 6: in terms of the overall play from the bench. With that,
- 15:25Speaker 6: there was a wearing down effect, and I thought that
- 15:28Speaker 6: they wore us down as the game were on. The
- 15:32Speaker 6: thing that I'm the most disappointed about we've talked about.
- 15:35Speaker 6: At the end of the game. It was tied up
- 15:38Speaker 6: at halftime. Tremon made a big three point shot right
- 15:40Speaker 6: before the break. We each had our halftime break, and
- 15:44Speaker 6: I'm telling you right now, in the first four minutes
- 15:47Speaker 6: of the second half, we were not ready to play.
- 15:50Speaker 6: There's one team that was running fast, and there was
- 15:53Speaker 6: one team that was not running nearly as fast as
- 15:55Speaker 6: they could. There's one team that was came out of halftime,
- 15:58Speaker 6: ready to play, to play it all the way to
- 16:01Speaker 6: the end, from start to finish, in one team that
- 16:04Speaker 6: for whatever reason just couldn't quite get up and get
- 16:07Speaker 6: after it like you're capable of in the sec in
- 16:11Speaker 6: a game of this meaning, in that first four minute
- 16:14Speaker 6: segment of the second half, if you add up the
- 16:16Speaker 6: last three or four minutes of the first half in
- 16:19Speaker 6: the first four minutes of the second half, that's where
- 16:21Speaker 6: the game was won and lost. They crushed us in
- 16:24Speaker 6: those two segments, but the one at the end of
- 16:26Speaker 6: the half was different than the beginning of the second half.
- 16:29Speaker 6: Our lack of effort. Again, I know I keep saying this,
- 16:34Speaker 6: and I don't want to say when we lose, he
- 16:37Speaker 6: gets mad at his guys playing hard, and when he
- 16:39Speaker 6: wins he doesn't. I'm not saying that. For most of
- 16:42Speaker 6: the game, I thought we played a lot of effort
- 16:44Speaker 6: and we did some great things. But that four minute segment.
- 16:47Speaker 6: What happened in that four minute segment was a reflection
- 16:51Speaker 6: of us not understanding that the stakes here and from
- 16:55Speaker 6: that point on we just don't have that luxury and
- 16:58Speaker 6: room for error to overcome a four minute segment like
- 17:01Speaker 6: that in any game of the eighteen in the SEC
- 17:05Speaker 6: at first four minutes of the second half. I also
- 17:08Speaker 6: tell you this that I thought Bucky and his coaching
- 17:11Speaker 6: staff they hit us with about eight points on flex
- 17:15Speaker 6: cut backscreen layups, just nobody around, like somebody fell down
- 17:19Speaker 6: on our team. And that's on me, that's on us.
- 17:22Speaker 6: You can't give up shots like that on set play calls.
- 17:27Speaker 6: At least it's if it's challenged, if a guy makes
- 17:30Speaker 6: a great play, that's one thing. It was like somebody
- 17:32Speaker 6: fell down, right, I mean they had six or eight points.
- 17:35Speaker 6: We spotted them six or eight points just on those
- 17:38Speaker 6: three or four set play calls. And that's concentration. That's coaching,
- 17:43Speaker 6: that's making sure your guys are ready for it. And
- 17:45Speaker 6: when you give a team six to eight points on
- 17:47Speaker 6: those those like quick plays, again, it's tough to win
- 17:51Speaker 6: the game. We didn't get many, they got their six
- 17:54Speaker 6: to eight, and I really tipped my hat to their execution.
- 17:57Speaker 6: And we have to be better in that area. We've
- 18:00Speaker 6: been better recently, we weren't in this game. So a
- 18:05Speaker 6: tough game. Every game we play is going to be
- 18:07Speaker 6: like this, And that's really how I saw it here
- 18:11Speaker 6: this evening.
- 18:15Speaker 11: Sean, you mentioned that how can you coax more from
- 18:18Speaker 11: your bench? What can you do? And specifically, Simon Wiltra
- 18:22Speaker 11: has a history. You know, he's been at a decent score.
- 18:24Speaker 11: Do you need more points from him?
- 18:25Speaker 7: What can you do to get that? Yeah?
- 18:27Speaker 6: And I don't want to point the finger just those guys.
- 18:30Speaker 6: I mean, you know, I try to tell our guys
- 18:32Speaker 6: all the time. Man, we're at the highest level of sport.
- 18:35Speaker 6: There's accountability across the board. Every day played Texas A
- 18:39Speaker 6: and m our bench was one for ten from the floor.
- 18:42Speaker 6: We were zero for four from three and you know,
- 18:44Speaker 6: you look at that plus minus deal, we're minus thirteen.
- 18:47Speaker 6: You know, we didn't get much against a team that
- 18:50Speaker 6: does an amazing job of utilizing their depth and their bench.
- 18:54Speaker 6: It's part of their way, and when you're playing against them,
- 18:58Speaker 6: you have to be able to get some thing from
- 19:00Speaker 6: from your own bench. Tonight we didn't. We didn't doesn't
- 19:04Speaker 6: mean that we can't still win. The first four minutes
- 19:08Speaker 6: of the second half, not one of those guys were
- 19:10Speaker 6: in And I think if you look at the deficit
- 19:14Speaker 6: and that first four minutes of the second half and
- 19:16Speaker 6: you just look at some plays that happened there, we
- 19:19Speaker 6: weren't We didn't come out ready to attack after halftime,
- 19:22Speaker 6: and I thought we kind of regressed into that group
- 19:26Speaker 6: that we've been throughout November and December.
- 19:30Speaker 7: Sewan.
- 19:30Speaker 12: By the numbers, I think this is the seventh or
- 19:32Speaker 12: eighth oldest team in the nation your team. Should you
- 19:35Speaker 12: be having to emphasize effort, albeit sustained effort. Should you
- 19:39Speaker 12: be having to emphasize effort to these guys in a
- 19:40Speaker 12: raffery game like this? And also, what did you feel
- 19:42Speaker 12: you got out of your four spot?
- 19:44Speaker 6: What was the last part?
- 19:45Speaker 12: Do you What do you feel you got out of
- 19:46Speaker 12: your four spot tonight?
- 19:48Speaker 6: Yeah, we didn't get much. You know, I think I
- 19:50Speaker 6: think Cam, you know, he had five rebounds, which is great,
- 19:53Speaker 6: but you know one for two that's plagued us. Also
- 19:57Speaker 6: not meaning Cam, but just that spot in general. In
- 20:00Speaker 6: terms of the age, there's a lot of older teams.
- 20:02Speaker 6: You know, I can make the argument that we have
- 20:05Speaker 6: a couple guys that really wear down easier than I
- 20:07Speaker 6: would like them to wear down. You know, basketball is
- 20:10Speaker 6: a sport of great conditioning, and I have no doubt
- 20:13Speaker 6: were in condition, but there's a mental part of it,
- 20:16Speaker 6: being able to fight through those periods of time when
- 20:19Speaker 6: you're really up against it. When your heart rate is gone,
- 20:22Speaker 6: can you still play hard? Can you sustain effort and
- 20:25Speaker 6: concentration when that period of time comes? And there is
- 20:28Speaker 6: a lot of times this season that you know that's
- 20:31Speaker 6: what's done us In look in tonight's game, there was
- 20:34Speaker 6: a lot of good play for us. There was a
- 20:36Speaker 6: lot of hard plays that were made. We had stretches
- 20:39Speaker 6: against Texas A and M's press. We had eight turnovers
- 20:42Speaker 6: for the game, ten assists, eight turnovers. I think there's
- 20:46Speaker 6: a lot of coaches in the SEC, if you play them,
- 20:49Speaker 6: that would love to have eight turnovers. That didn't beat us.
- 20:52Speaker 6: I do think that wore us down a little bit,
- 20:54Speaker 6: but we did not turn the ball over. And rebounding
- 20:59Speaker 6: it's different. I'll go back to the rebounding. We all
- 21:02Speaker 6: rebounded them, as you can see thirty seven thirty and
- 21:05Speaker 6: on the defense of rebounding, I think we got about
- 21:07Speaker 6: seventy five percent back. Seventy four percent back. Can always
- 21:10Speaker 6: do better, but if you get that percentage back, you're
- 21:13Speaker 6: keeping them off the glass. At halftime, we had forty
- 21:17Speaker 6: percent of our missus, so we were really rebounding on
- 21:20Speaker 6: the offensive end in the first half, second half, we
- 21:24Speaker 6: had three, and if I'm not mistaken, we might have
- 21:26Speaker 6: had two of those three in the last couple minutes.
- 21:30Speaker 6: So again, I thought the second half was different than
- 21:33Speaker 6: the first half for us. The first four minutes I've
- 21:36Speaker 6: talked about, if you look at their shooting, they were
- 21:38Speaker 6: fifteen of twenty five, they were fifteen to twenty five
- 21:43Speaker 6: in the second half from the floor, six for ten
- 21:46Speaker 6: from three. Then again, we gave them four point blank
- 21:51Speaker 6: layups off of cuts and screens in which we screwed
- 21:54Speaker 6: up our assignment. And look when that happens, that's on me.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Sean Miller. I like him. He's direct, he's accountable, he
- 22:06Speaker 1: holds his players accountable, he holds himself accountable.
- 22:09Speaker 10: So I kind of like that.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And he got out coached on Saturday, and here is
- 22:16Speaker 1: Bucky post game.
- 22:20Speaker 7: A good win for our guys.
- 22:21Speaker 13: Obviously, Texas is a very good team. They beat some
- 22:23Speaker 13: of the best teams in the country, very good players,
- 22:25Speaker 13: and coach Miller, a guy that I've respected a long time,
- 22:28Speaker 13: does a great job, so we knew this would be
- 22:31Speaker 13: anybody's game. I love our team, though we've come a
- 22:33Speaker 13: long way since where we started.
- 22:35Speaker 7: Keys to the game, we.
- 22:36Speaker 13: Had a great second half offensively, really shared the ball.
- 22:38Speaker 13: We shot fifty one percent from the field and over
- 22:40Speaker 13: forty percent from three, or right at forty percent from three.
- 22:43Speaker 7: In the game, we.
- 22:43Speaker 13: Wanted to hold him under forty percent. They got to
- 22:45Speaker 13: forty one. But we had a great first half on defense,
- 22:48Speaker 13: so close the game out, we knew it wanted to
- 22:51Speaker 13: be easy. In the last couple of minutes of that game.
- 22:52Speaker 13: It's good to close it out, get out of here
- 22:55Speaker 13: and get get another league win. Lucky.
- 22:58Speaker 14: Why were y'all so you think there are so successfully
- 23:00Speaker 14: least do so well in the second half.
- 23:04Speaker 13: You know, we have some veteran guys out there, and
- 23:06Speaker 13: I think the truth is like those you know, you
- 23:09Speaker 13: guys are in colsation have followed our team, that you know,
- 23:11Speaker 13: all new guys, that they get better and better and
- 23:14Speaker 13: better and better at knowing each other. And obviously when
- 23:16Speaker 13: you when you got all new guys, your play package is.
- 23:19Speaker 7: Very small to start the season.
- 23:21Speaker 13: And as we've gone and had more practice time, we've
- 23:24Speaker 13: been able to get more stuff in that can help
- 23:26Speaker 13: us in the moments and practice that. So when I
- 23:28Speaker 13: have one player on this team that has run a
- 23:30Speaker 13: play that we ran last last year, So now we're
- 23:33Speaker 13: getting the continuity you got to have, knowing multiple positions
- 23:36Speaker 13: of how to run it and then obviously executing it.
- 23:39Speaker 11: Bucky, do you feel your depth formed down a little
- 23:42Speaker 11: bit in the second half? And also Jamie Vincent, local kid,
- 23:45Speaker 11: what'd you get from him tonight?
- 23:47Speaker 13: Yeah, Jamie Vincent was awesome. I mean, he keeps growing.
- 23:49Speaker 13: You know, he probably could play more minutes. He's just
- 23:52Speaker 13: playing behind maybe our most valuable player on mishaan ag
- 23:55Speaker 13: And so I think James is gonna have a bright
- 23:56Speaker 13: future here for us. I hope our depth wears other
- 23:58Speaker 13: teams down because you know, it's not like you look
- 24:01Speaker 13: at our roster and there's you know, seven first rounders necessarily,
- 24:04Speaker 13: but we got ten to fifteen very good players, and.
- 24:08Speaker 7: So I got confidence in all of them.
- 24:10Speaker 13: So when you're in there, I don't care if it's
- 24:12Speaker 13: five minutes, ten minutes, twenty minutes, thirty minutes. You got
- 24:15Speaker 13: to do your job to lean on the other team.
- 24:17Speaker 13: And some of these guys that may have played seldom minutes,
- 24:20Speaker 13: like you know, Josh Holloway played ten minutes thirty seconds,
- 24:22Speaker 13: but maybe he came in the game and worked other team's.
- 24:24Speaker 7: Guard a little bit.
- 24:25Speaker 13: That allowed our fresh guys to come in there on
- 24:26Speaker 13: a full tank.
- 24:27Speaker 7: And I thought that helped us.
- 24:29Speaker 15: Bucky, you guys did a great job attacking the help
- 24:32Speaker 15: defense using backdoor cuts.
- 24:33Speaker 7: What do you attribute that to? Is that a team thing? Yeah,
- 24:36Speaker 7: just reading each other.
- 24:37Speaker 13: We run flow offense, which is not play calls are
- 24:39Speaker 13: scripted for the most part, it's just reading off each other,
- 24:42Speaker 13: primarily ball screamed with off ball actions. And so when
- 24:45Speaker 13: you run that not a heavy play call team, you're
- 24:48Speaker 13: not gonna look great early in the year, but you're
- 24:49Speaker 13: gonna learn to play off each other more and more
- 24:51Speaker 13: and more and more. They have an interesting defense because
- 24:55Speaker 13: they have a great rim presence down there.
- 24:56Speaker 7: Who's in drop coverage at the rim?
- 24:59Speaker 13: So you know they play that coverage and try to
- 25:00Speaker 13: hug shooters, and it's a it's a tough thing to
- 25:02Speaker 13: play against. So we had to be precise. I do
- 25:05Speaker 13: know that because they don't give you much.
- 25:07Speaker 16: What did what did the hots start the second half
- 25:10Speaker 16: from Ryland give for you guys, and just his performance
- 25:13Speaker 16: in the second half overall.
- 25:14Speaker 7: Well, we didn't.
- 25:15Speaker 13: Sometimes we've come out of half the first minutes like
- 25:17Speaker 13: a warm up, And I said Hey, the start to
- 25:19Speaker 13: the half is so important. We can't have a four
- 25:22Speaker 13: minute warm up into the game. It starts now, get
- 25:24Speaker 13: yourself ready to go. Ryland's the Texas kid. You know,
- 25:27Speaker 13: he probably knows what this game is, a you know,
- 25:29Speaker 13: a game that he's probably grew up watching. And obviously
- 25:33Speaker 13: he played great in the game.
- 25:34Speaker 17: Like you mentioned, the kind of the team growing into
- 25:37Speaker 17: the playbook a little bit as it goes on, do
- 25:38Speaker 17: you feel like this is the best half court offense
- 25:40Speaker 17: game that y'all have had for the season.
- 25:41Speaker 13: We were good, and you know, particularly in the second half,
- 25:43Speaker 13: we'd have some good first halfs and I mentioned this
- 25:46Speaker 13: the other day we lost to Tennessee, but even in
- 25:47Speaker 13: the first overtime, we got the looks we wanted, you
- 25:49Speaker 13: know what I'm saying. We had layups we had to
- 25:51Speaker 13: we didn't convert them all. You know, we didn't make
- 25:53Speaker 13: every free throw, but that that happens. What you can control.
- 25:56Speaker 13: How you getting the shots you're supposed to get, and
- 25:58Speaker 13: I think the right guys are taking the right shot
- 26:00Speaker 13: that's the right times for us.
- 26:01Speaker 16: How does having a confidence start like in the second half,
- 26:04Speaker 16: like from Ryland Griffin kind of build confidence for the
- 26:06Speaker 16: rest of the three point shooters.
- 26:08Speaker 13: Well, you know, I think the thing with us is
- 26:11Speaker 13: like we are totally bought into being us, Like the
- 26:13Speaker 13: last thing I rore on the boards, be us, Like
- 26:15Speaker 13: we're not gonna come in here and like miss our
- 26:17Speaker 13: first seven threes, Like, well, let's stop doing it. We're
- 26:19Speaker 13: not gonna come in here and give up a layup
- 26:20Speaker 13: on the presspect Well let's back it up and just
- 26:22Speaker 13: sit inside that. That's just not what we're going to do.
- 26:24Speaker 13: We're gonna be us and we're gonna live with it.
- 26:26Speaker 13: So we know that, like we're confident in what we're doing,
- 26:29Speaker 13: you know what I'm saying.
- 26:30Speaker 7: And so we're gonna have those runs.
- 26:32Speaker 13: We're gonna have those runs where someone comes out and
- 26:34Speaker 13: gets hot and have someone we're cold. But what's been
- 26:37Speaker 13: the biggest difference when we have been cold, We've been
- 26:40Speaker 13: able to continue to try to get stop after stop
- 26:42Speaker 13: after stop.
- 26:42Speaker 7: We're early in the season that wasn't happening.
- 26:44Speaker 17: Obviously, the message was received with the win today, but
- 26:47Speaker 17: what was what was the sentiment this week from the
- 26:50Speaker 17: guys and what you see for them to allow them
- 26:52Speaker 17: to be successful today this week?
- 26:53Speaker 13: Well, you know, we do you know I mentioned three
- 26:55Speaker 13: things to having success usually, right, you want to get old,
- 26:58Speaker 13: you want to get deep, and you want to have continuity.
- 27:00Speaker 7: Now this team had no continuity.
- 27:01Speaker 13: When we started, but we've got more and more and
- 27:04Speaker 13: more because we've played together longer.
- 27:05Speaker 7: But we are old and we are deep.
- 27:07Speaker 13: So when you're old, you know, it's a joy to
- 27:10Speaker 13: coach older players because it's not so much emotion. You know,
- 27:14Speaker 13: I don't have to give the win one for the
- 27:16Speaker 13: Gipper's speech in there. That's just not what it's about.
- 27:18Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying. They're twenty five years old.
- 27:20Speaker 13: Some of these guys you know in college basketball. So
- 27:22Speaker 13: the older the team you've got, they know what time
- 27:24Speaker 13: it is. They play off intensity, not emotion, not highs
- 27:27Speaker 13: and lows from the crowd, just that calmness that you
- 27:30Speaker 13: got to play with.
- 27:31Speaker 16: What do you see from Rashawn's ability to go against
- 27:34Speaker 16: their big guy number eight in the second half and
- 27:36Speaker 16: y'all's just ability to limit him.
- 27:37Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, Rashaun.
- 27:40Speaker 13: Obviously eight is really good and long and athletic. But
- 27:43Speaker 13: sometimes I don't feel that we have trusted Rashawn down there,
- 27:47Speaker 13: regardless who's gardening. You know, this is more before my generation.
- 27:50Speaker 13: I'm a Birmingham guy, and there's a guy from Leeds,
- 27:53Speaker 13: Alabama by the name.
- 27:54Speaker 7: Of Charles Barkley.
- 27:55Speaker 13: He was undersized a lot, but he was able to
- 27:57Speaker 13: get things done if you give him enough touches around
- 27:59Speaker 13: the basket. And so, you know, we talked about that
- 28:02Speaker 13: we got a trust for showing down there that he
- 28:04Speaker 13: can get to the line, he can finish over anybody,
- 28:06Speaker 13: because no one's proven that he can't do that, and
- 28:08Speaker 13: no one's proven that they can stop him consistently just
- 28:11Speaker 13: from getting to his spots.
- 28:12Speaker 7: We got to just trust him.
- 28:15Speaker 18: Bucky, you talked about being more successful in the second
- 28:18Speaker 18: half offensively, What changed at halftime from your perspective to
- 28:22Speaker 18: kind of make that happen.
- 28:23Speaker 13: Oh, we came out fresh like riland some of those
- 28:25Speaker 13: guys got had a little bit of foul trouble, and
- 28:29Speaker 13: you know, we came out there, those guys were able
- 28:31Speaker 13: to rest a little bit.
- 28:33Speaker 7: We continue to attack.
- 28:35Speaker 13: When we got stopped, we continued to run my message
- 28:38Speaker 13: to those.
- 28:38Speaker 7: Guys all the way through.
- 28:39Speaker 13: The end is played like we're down by eight to
- 28:41Speaker 13: ten points, like we don't don't look at it over
- 28:43Speaker 13: up ten Let's walk it up you know, over up ten,
- 28:47Speaker 13: let's just run back.
- 28:49Speaker 6: Now.
- 28:49Speaker 7: We did have to. We could not.
- 28:50Speaker 13: Plays aggressive on defense because we were in the they
- 28:52Speaker 13: were in double bonus anytime we touched from their shooting two,
- 28:55Speaker 13: so we had to go a little more zone than
- 28:56Speaker 13: we wanted to. But I think that our aggressiveness throughout
- 29:00Speaker 13: and not looking at the scoreboard, you know, really helped
- 29:03Speaker 13: us in that game.
- 29:04Speaker 7: Bucky.
- 29:05Speaker 15: You guys forced eight turnovers. You're usually you're forcing twice
- 29:08Speaker 15: as many, just a lower possession game than you're used
- 29:11Speaker 15: to playing typically. What do you think that says about
- 29:13Speaker 15: your guys that you're able to go out there, play
- 29:15Speaker 15: maybe a slower paced game than you think you're going
- 29:17Speaker 15: to play, and still come out with the win on
- 29:18Speaker 15: the road.
- 29:19Speaker 7: You know, great teams can win different ways.
- 29:21Speaker 13: So my coach once told me, if you're a great team,
- 29:23Speaker 13: you can win the sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties or one hundreds.
- 29:25Speaker 13: And in this league, we know, you got to do
- 29:27Speaker 13: what the game calls for, right, and you just got
- 29:30Speaker 13: to do what the game game calls for and didn't
- 29:33Speaker 13: turn them over as much as we would love to
- 29:35Speaker 13: turn them over every single time.
- 29:37Speaker 7: But our half court defense and.
- 29:38Speaker 13: Our rebounding, even though you know they got eleven offensive rebounds,
- 29:41Speaker 13: was better than it was last game. I had a
- 29:43Speaker 13: buddy who was here at the game, and you know,
- 29:45Speaker 13: I just said, man, I just you know, it's good
- 29:47Speaker 13: a bounce back.
- 29:48Speaker 7: You know, sick about that Tennessee one.
- 29:49Speaker 13: I feel like we could be undefeated in league play.
- 29:51Speaker 7: But he said, yeah, but if y'all won that one,
- 29:53Speaker 7: y'all made it.
- 29:54Speaker 13: Not executing and done the things like rebounding and free
- 29:56Speaker 13: throw rebounds to win this one.
- 29:58Speaker 7: That's just how it goes. And that's why I had
- 30:00Speaker 7: to keep moving forward and getting better.
- 30:03Speaker 19: Bucky, what was just kind of from your perspective, your
- 30:06Speaker 19: first taste of this rivalry game long star show down?
- 30:08Speaker 19: And then what did you see from the guys? I
- 30:10Speaker 19: know a lot of them aren't. I haven't played in
- 30:12Speaker 19: this game yet, so just get prepared for this.
- 30:15Speaker 13: Well, look, I mean, look, I got a text. I
- 30:18Speaker 13: know it's hard to win in here. You can go
- 30:20Speaker 13: back and look, say it's nineteen eighty seven of you
- 30:23Speaker 13: know it's hard to win in here. And I had
- 30:26Speaker 13: a textas so one told me how many times you
- 30:28Speaker 13: know A and it was only one of their X
- 30:30Speaker 13: number of times.
- 30:31Speaker 7: It's nineteen eighty seven, you know.
- 30:34Speaker 13: And I texted my buddy, I said, you know, and
- 30:36Speaker 13: I felt like, hey, we got a team that can
- 30:38Speaker 13: do it. You know, we got a team that can
- 30:40Speaker 13: do it. And so I think we have a team
- 30:43Speaker 13: that can do it because we do have a mature
- 30:44Speaker 13: team that's a true team. Now you could say, well,
- 30:47Speaker 13: you sound it sounds like coach be They're a true team.
- 30:50Speaker 13: Y'all have been in media like early season. I never
- 30:52Speaker 13: said anything like that. Didn't know each other's names yet.
- 30:55Speaker 13: But we have a team that's playing for each other
- 30:57Speaker 13: and are fighting for each other, and that's good to see.
- 31:01Speaker 13: And that's how you win games like this, not because
- 31:03Speaker 13: it's a rivalry game. I told them, this game is
- 31:05Speaker 13: no different than any other SEC game, right. I mean,
- 31:08Speaker 13: Texas doesn't get three losses for that, we don't get
- 31:10Speaker 13: three wins. So the most important thing we can do
- 31:13Speaker 13: is just keep being the tight team that we are
- 31:15Speaker 13: to value getting the right shot for the right people
- 31:17Speaker 13: and playing hard for the people.
- 31:18Speaker 7: Next to you.
- 31:19Speaker 13: Now, I will say this, I totally understand rivalry games.
- 31:23Speaker 13: I totally understand fan bases. I love our fan base
- 31:26Speaker 13: like I love our fan base and I want all
- 31:28Speaker 13: the Aggie's back in College Station, the best city in
- 31:31Speaker 13: the state, to be celebrating really hard tonight.
- 31:34Speaker 17: But it's to that end. First time winning here since
- 31:37Speaker 17: two thousand and two. What does it mean for the
- 31:39Speaker 17: program to kind of step that losing stream.
- 31:41Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it's good.
- 31:43Speaker 13: It's just because we were showing we can win on
- 31:44Speaker 13: the road, right, We're showing we can win on the road.
- 31:47Speaker 13: I mean, so's someone to text me. We know it's
- 31:49Speaker 13: not hard. This is a great program with great athletics here.
- 31:53Speaker 13: You know, it's not hard to go into anywhere and win,
- 31:55Speaker 13: particularly when they got really good players and really good coaches.
- 31:58Speaker 13: You know, but this is what we want for the state.
- 32:00Speaker 13: And I said to the Texas fans, right, we may
- 32:02Speaker 13: not come out on the right side of this, and
- 32:04Speaker 13: we may not come out on the right side tonight,
- 32:05Speaker 13: but the fact passion for basketball here, you know, that's
- 32:08Speaker 13: great to see.
- 32:09Speaker 7: Because I'm from Alabama.
- 32:11Speaker 13: There's a great passion for football there, right, And then
- 32:15Speaker 13: Auburn and Alabama basketball got going. There's basketball really started
- 32:17Speaker 13: amp up, and it was great to see that here
- 32:21Speaker 13: in basketball season, we had a great passion for both
- 32:24Speaker 13: fan bases.
- 32:24Speaker 20: Here, Hey, Bucky, there's seven further has been given people problems.
- 32:30Speaker 20: How much of a premium did you guys place on
- 32:32Speaker 20: trying to limit his touches to keep him from getting going.
- 32:36Speaker 13: He's a really tough matchup because he can score when
- 32:39Speaker 13: he catches it and go to work and then he
- 32:40Speaker 13: can They do a great job of putting in positions
- 32:42Speaker 13: where he can score almost before he catches it and
- 32:44Speaker 13: they throw it right in and he scores it.
- 32:46Speaker 7: You know, we know we.
- 32:48Speaker 13: Wouldn't just be able to just shut him completely down,
- 32:50Speaker 13: but you know, we had to make his buckets hard
- 32:52Speaker 13: on him, and we had to lean on him and
- 32:53Speaker 13: be physical with him like he's been forcing this league.
- 32:56Speaker 13: And the thing that doesn't show up with him on
- 32:58Speaker 13: the stat sheet is the impact that he had on
- 33:00Speaker 13: the game defensively, and you look at their big wins.
- 33:02Speaker 13: I mean, Alabama is as good of offense as anywhere,
- 33:05Speaker 13: and he was a real presence forcing teams to take
- 33:08Speaker 13: tough twos.
- 33:09Speaker 1: That's Bucky. Heck of a job Saturday afternoon in Austin,
- 33:15Speaker 1: Great win Man. The more I watch him in this team,
- 33:19Speaker 1: it's pretty remarkable. I mean, if they lost every game
- 33:26Speaker 1: going forward and they're not going to trust me. But
- 33:29Speaker 1: if they lost every game going forward, you're going, Man,
- 33:32Speaker 1: this guy put together this roster this quick and got
- 33:35Speaker 1: these guys play like this this quick. He's pretty good.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I think it's only going to get better. I like
- 33:41Speaker 1: the schedule this week at home. All right, we're going
- 33:45Speaker 1: to turn our attention to the National Championship game here
- 33:48Speaker 1: in just a minute. I want to remind you, and
- 33:51Speaker 1: I know you probably don't want to hear this yet
- 33:54Speaker 1: because you think Christmas was just over. But Valentine's Day is.
- 33:59Speaker 1: I mean, it's guys, and you say, hey, I gave
- 34:04Speaker 1: her a gift certificate for Christmas from Galeria Day spawn
- 34:08Speaker 1: I'm saying, and she said thank you. She probably already
- 34:13Speaker 1: used it. Get another one, Get a full service day,

- 34:36Speaker 1: think Gallery, it is just class. You walk in the

- 36:34Speaker 1: It is a Monday edition the Writers' Roundtable coming out tomorrow.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I'll be visiting with author Monty Burke and his book
- 36:44Speaker 1: Men of Troy Legendary Afternoons, Wild Knights and and during
- 36:48Speaker 1: Legacy of Pete Carroll's USC Trojans. We'll also have postgame
- 36:54Speaker 1: from the National Championship pre game for Wednesday's basketball game
- 36:58Speaker 1: Big against Mississippi. Speaking of the National Championship, we want
- 37:02Speaker 1: to hear from the quarterback of the U. Here's Carson Beck.
- 37:07Speaker 25: Again.
- 37:07Speaker 26: I've had full trust in God and this plan, and
- 37:10Speaker 26: it hasn't been easy at times, but again, look look
- 37:13Speaker 26: at God. You know, it's it's been an unbelievable right,
- 37:15Speaker 26: It's been an unbelievable journey, and I'm just so thankful
- 37:17Speaker 26: and blessed to have this opportunity.
- 37:19Speaker 18: We're right, Carson. Michael Irving has been very, very supportive
- 37:26Speaker 18: of the team. A bunch of like the Miami Old
- 37:28Speaker 18: Stars have been very supportive. How is it to have
- 37:30Speaker 18: like Michael Irvin at the end of every game, like
- 37:32Speaker 18: doing Selly's down the sideline and just celebrating with the fans, Like,
- 37:35Speaker 18: how does that empower your squad?
- 37:37Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 37:38Speaker 26: Personally, I think it's awesome. Obviously, he brings a lot
- 37:41Speaker 26: of energy and juice to our football team. And to
- 37:44Speaker 26: see him along with obviously other guys that have played
- 37:48Speaker 26: for the U in the past, that gives us a
- 37:50Speaker 26: lot of energy and you can see the support and
- 37:53Speaker 26: how much they care about this university and our team,
- 37:56Speaker 26: especially him. Obviously he's been at every single game. He's
- 37:59Speaker 26: running up and down the sidelines. I mean he's coming
- 38:01Speaker 26: up picking me up after games, yelling and screaming, and
- 38:04Speaker 26: I love it.
- 38:05Speaker 18: Man.
- 38:05Speaker 26: It's it's awesome to have those guys on the sideline.
- 38:08Speaker 27: Okay, Carson, you know planning a national championship isn't something
- 38:14Speaker 27: new for you. You've done this in the SEC and
- 38:16Speaker 27: you've always proven people wrong. How does it feel right
- 38:19Speaker 27: now to be playing again in the national Championship, competing
- 38:22Speaker 27: for your third championship?
- 38:24Speaker 2: Bring?
- 38:25Speaker 26: Yeah, obviously it feels awesome to finally be the guy
- 38:29Speaker 26: in the quarterback, a part of a team that has
- 38:33Speaker 26: you know, done this and gone through a season and
- 38:35Speaker 26: eventually are an opportunity to play in a national championship.
- 38:38Speaker 26: That obviously, it's a dream of mine as one of
- 38:41Speaker 26: this team's ultimate goals. It is our ultimate goal obviously
- 38:44Speaker 26: to be in this game, to win this game. And
- 38:46Speaker 26: having been a part of it, you know, being a
- 38:48Speaker 26: part of teams that have done it, that have gone
- 38:50Speaker 26: all the way, one all the way to again be
- 38:53Speaker 26: back in this moment is pretty surreal.
- 38:55Speaker 20: We're gonna go back over here.
- 38:59Speaker 28: Building off of that really quickly. To be having this
- 39:01Speaker 28: game in your home stadium, talk about that, talk about
- 39:04Speaker 28: what the fan support has been like, and talk what
- 39:06Speaker 28: it's like being here in Miami for a national championship.
- 39:09Speaker 26: Yeah, I mean, obviously that's probably the coolest thing of
- 39:12Speaker 26: all of this, is the opportunity to play in our
- 39:14Speaker 26: home stadium for a national championship, in front of our
- 39:17Speaker 26: home crowd, in our home city. I mean, what again,
- 39:19Speaker 26: what an unbelievable opportunity for us and that you as
- 39:23Speaker 26: a whole, right and just in just this city in general, right,
- 39:26Speaker 26: I Mean, they've had unbelievable support throughout this whole entire season,
- 39:29Speaker 26: and you know, to be able to play in front
- 39:31Speaker 26: of them at home is obviously pretty pretty dope.
- 39:36Speaker 28: What's up? How are you good?
- 39:38Speaker 1: To see you?
- 39:39Speaker 29: It's a little different, huh. Visiting sideline is where you
- 39:43Speaker 29: guys are going to be.
- 39:43Speaker 30: How strange is that going to feel?
- 39:46Speaker 26: It'll definitely be different. You know, we were having this
- 39:48Speaker 26: conversation of you know, we'll be in a different locker room,
- 39:50Speaker 26: be on a different sideline.
- 39:51Speaker 7: I'm sure some.
- 39:52Speaker 26: Guys might get confused and start running to the other
- 39:54Speaker 26: sideline mid game. But again, at the end of the day,
- 39:58Speaker 26: once you step on the lines between the field, it's
- 40:01Speaker 26: same size field, same end zone, same one hundred yards,
- 40:04Speaker 26: and again it'll come down to the execution of the game.
- 40:07Speaker 24: We're gonna go right here.
- 40:09Speaker 25: A lot of the narrative has been about reform in
- 40:12Speaker 25: college football, and you know, is it broken?
- 40:14Speaker 31: Is it not?
- 40:14Speaker 24: Because of the portal?
- 40:15Speaker 25: This worked out for you. Could you ever imagined it
- 40:18Speaker 25: being this way and working out this well in terms
- 40:21Speaker 25: of the portal and coming.
- 40:22Speaker 7: Here, Yeah, of course.
- 40:23Speaker 26: And obviously for my story it's a little bit different
- 40:26Speaker 26: because I mean I was at Georgia for five years
- 40:29Speaker 26: you know, I stuck it out. I sat for three years.
- 40:31Speaker 26: I waited my turn to have the opportunity to be
- 40:34Speaker 26: a quarterback at the University of Georgia. Obviously, I have
- 40:38Speaker 26: the injury and things don't pan out the way that
- 40:41Speaker 26: I exactly thought they were going to, and then I
- 40:43Speaker 26: was blessed with the opportunity to enter the transfer portal
- 40:45Speaker 26: to have another opportunity to play at the University of Miami.
- 40:49Speaker 26: Obviously talking to coach christ of ball, talking to coach
- 40:51Speaker 26: Dawson in that process, I mean, this is what we
- 40:54Speaker 26: thought we could do, This is what we thought that
- 40:56Speaker 26: this team was capable of. Obviously, you have to go
- 40:59Speaker 26: out and execute right. Talent only takes you so far.
- 41:02Speaker 26: But the way that this team has been able to
- 41:03Speaker 26: come together, the way that we've been able to battle
- 41:05Speaker 26: adversity and fight through this season and ultimately earn this
- 41:08Speaker 26: opportunity to play in this game, has been awesome and
- 41:11Speaker 26: it's obviously everything that we worked for.
- 41:14Speaker 29: We're going to go, Hey, Carson, you guys are playing
- 41:18Speaker 29: at home in the visitors' locker room. You're eight and
- 41:20Speaker 29: a half point underdogs. Is that something you have played?
- 41:24Speaker 29: The chip on your shoulder, But is that something that
- 41:26Speaker 29: you guys talk about as teammates, that you're that big
- 41:28Speaker 29: of an underdog and gives you extra motivation to play.
- 41:31Speaker 26: Honestly, none of that matters for us. I feel like
- 41:33Speaker 26: this whole season, all we've really talked about is the
- 41:37Speaker 26: people in this locker room is what matters. You know,
- 41:39Speaker 26: our coaches, our teammates, these fans, right, everybody that has
- 41:43Speaker 26: back to you, that has supported us, that has believed
- 41:45Speaker 26: in us. I mean, that's what matters at the end
- 41:47Speaker 26: of the day. And for us, the harder we work,
- 41:49Speaker 26: the harder we prepare, we understand that at the end
- 41:52Speaker 26: of the it's going to come down to the execution
- 41:53Speaker 26: on the field and all the outside noise everything else
- 41:56Speaker 26: we kind of just keep out. So I think the
- 41:58Speaker 26: more that we focus on us, the better off we
- 42:00Speaker 26: are at.
- 42:00Speaker 7: The end of the day.
- 42:03Speaker 18: Carson, I'm curious, did you have class yesterday?
- 42:05Speaker 17: If so, what class? And I know there was a
- 42:08Speaker 17: PEP rally on campus.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Just what has it been like being.
- 42:11Speaker 32: You as a student this week, particularly yesterday?
- 42:15Speaker 7: No class.
- 42:16Speaker 26: I graduated two years ago, so obviously I've been working
- 42:21Speaker 26: towards other degrees now that I've gotten to Miami but
- 42:23Speaker 26: these programs take a little longer than just a year
- 42:25Speaker 26: to finish, So obviously I'm not enrolling again next semester,
- 42:30Speaker 26: so I will be done after this season. But man,
- 42:33Speaker 26: it's been awesome for this university, for this fan base,
- 42:37Speaker 26: for this city, especially to you know, have the opportunity
- 42:39Speaker 26: to play in hard rock. You can see, I mean,
- 42:42Speaker 26: we're walking out of the facility yesterday. There's a ton
- 42:44Speaker 26: of fans, a ton of people. You know, everyone's screaming,
- 42:46Speaker 26: yell and cheering. So it's been an awesome, awesome opportunity
- 42:49Speaker 26: for this team, and I know all of us are
- 42:51Speaker 26: super excited about it.
- 42:53Speaker 1: That's Carson Beck and some stupid reporters when we come back. Well,
- 42:57Speaker 1: here's some more stupid questions from to Fernando Mendoza. The
- 43:03Speaker 1: Texans Report brought to you by Oscar and Sons and

- 43:41Speaker 34: after noon, falling in the New England Patriots in the
- 43:43Speaker 34: Divisional round of the playoffs by a score of twenty
- 43:45Speaker 34: eight to sixteen in the midst of rain, sleet, and snow.
- 43:48Speaker 29: Throughout the game.
- 43:49Speaker 7: CJ.
- 43:50Speaker 34: Stroud struggled to lead the Texans offense, as Stroud through
- 43:53Speaker 34: four interceptions and the Texans committed five total turnovers in
- 43:56Speaker 34: the contest. Even with the offensive struggles, the Texans were
- 43:59Speaker 34: a to pull within one possession after Kyle Fairbairn kicked
- 44:02Speaker 34: a fifty one yard field goal to make it twenty
- 44:04Speaker 34: one sixteen late in the third quarter. But back came
- 44:07Speaker 34: the Patriots as Drake May through one of his three
- 44:08Speaker 34: toll touchdowns in the game to make it twenty eight
- 44:10Speaker 34: to sixteen in the fourth and ultimately proving to be
- 44:13Speaker 34: the final score and eliminating the Texans from the postseason.
- 44:17Speaker 34: Head coach Jamiko Ryan's post game.
- 44:18Speaker 35: I'm just thankful for the season that we were able
- 44:22Speaker 35: to have. Didn't finish the way we would like to see.
- 44:25Speaker 35: But I'm proud of this team, proud of these guys

- 46:31Speaker 1: writers round table coming up here in about twenty minutes,
- 46:34Speaker 1: But first we heard from Carson Beck. Let's hear a
- 46:37Speaker 1: little bit from Indiana quarterback and Heisman winner Fernando Mendelisa.
- 46:44Speaker 32: Hi, Fernando Christopher Columbus High School CCNN Live. My name
- 46:47Speaker 32: is Gabril Hernandez as Christopher Columbus High school as an
- 46:50Speaker 32: alumni Christopher Columbus High School. How much does it mean
- 46:53Speaker 32: to you to represent Columbus on this stage and what
- 46:56Speaker 32: does that Columbus brotherhood mean to you?
- 46:58Speaker 31: Yeah, the Columbus brotherhood made me who I am now
- 47:01Speaker 31: is his player, but also as a character and a teammate.
- 47:04Speaker 31: Their brotherhood really taught me how to grow close to
- 47:07Speaker 31: one another. And I think that's the super power this
- 47:08Speaker 31: Indiana team. The glue that we have together and the
- 47:10Speaker 31: bond that we have together. And Columbus took a chance
- 47:13Speaker 31: of me as a quarterback and also my younger brother Alberto,
- 47:16Speaker 31: and development that I got football wise from Dave Dunn
- 47:19Speaker 31: and all the other fantastic coaching and also kind of
- 47:22Speaker 31: the tough personality you know, coaching I got from mister
- 47:26Speaker 31: McKeon Pugh and all the other teachers that have had
- 47:28Speaker 31: there that really helped room me into the man I
- 47:30Speaker 31: am today. Really can't thank Christopher Columbus enough, And I
- 47:33Speaker 31: think it's so special I get to play in Miami
- 47:35Speaker 31: where Christopher Clumbus is located in front of all my
- 47:38Speaker 31: Columbus brothers.
- 47:39Speaker 18: The meaning for you to be playing in d CD
- 47:42Speaker 18: and also on the stage.
- 47:43Speaker 31: Thank you thank you, thank you, thank you. Yeah, I
- 47:46Speaker 31: would say the meaning it means so much to myself
- 47:48Speaker 31: and my family, having growing up in Miami, growing up
- 47:52Speaker 31: a University of Miami fan, and basically whole identity being
- 47:56Speaker 31: you know, a Cuban living in Miami whose grandparents, all
- 48:00Speaker 31: four grandparents, you know, immigrated from Cuba to Miami, made
- 48:04Speaker 31: their way, had the American dream.
- 48:06Speaker 7: And you know, I've been so thankful.
- 48:07Speaker 31: To them and thankful to God I've been able to
- 48:09Speaker 31: you know, have a have a good you know, childhood,
- 48:12Speaker 31: and them raised me by accomplishing the American dream. And
- 48:16Speaker 31: I think it just means so much to my family,
- 48:17Speaker 31: as you know, playing in Miami against the University of Miami.
- 48:21Speaker 7: You know, the kind of the journey.
- 48:22Speaker 31: It's kind of like a full circle moment. But also
- 48:23Speaker 31: it means a lot to a lot of my teammates
- 48:25Speaker 31: and coaches and also everybody and who's your nation, just
- 48:27Speaker 31: because it is a national championship. And so I could
- 48:30Speaker 31: selfishly say, oh, it means so much to me, but
- 48:31Speaker 31: in reality, I do it for my teammates and my
- 48:34Speaker 31: coaches because the national championship it's the big one, and
- 48:37Speaker 31: I really do it for them.
- 48:39Speaker 23: Going on here, Fernando, how's it going.
- 48:42Speaker 26: What were your emotions when you first stepped off the
- 48:44Speaker 26: plane and you're like, I'm playing back at home.
- 48:47Speaker 3: This is it now, this is real.
- 48:49Speaker 31: Yeah, I would say there there was like a whole
- 48:52Speaker 31: little like a band plane and it was great to hear,
- 48:55Speaker 31: you know, Hispanic music coming off the plane, and it
- 48:58Speaker 31: was just it was a great feeling. I said to me,
- 48:59Speaker 31: kind of my weather, you know, being in Bloomington, it's
- 49:02Speaker 31: little colder over there is having the Miami weather and
- 49:04Speaker 31: the humidity slapping in the face. I was a great
- 49:07Speaker 31: reminder of home, and I think that, you know, I'm
- 49:09Speaker 31: really looking forward playing to Miami, especially a lot of
- 49:11Speaker 31: family and people who helped pour into myself to get
- 49:16Speaker 31: myself to this point in my journey. I'm really I'm
- 49:19Speaker 31: really proud of it.
- 49:23Speaker 2: Fernando.
- 49:23Speaker 28: You've been historically efficient right now, five games, more touchdowns
- 49:27Speaker 28: and incompletions. What is it right now that you're seeing
- 49:29Speaker 28: you can just trust your eyes and kind of let
- 49:31Speaker 28: it rip. And how much of that goes to the
- 49:33Speaker 28: offensive line as well?
- 49:34Speaker 31: Yeah, I would say it all goes off of the line.
- 49:36Speaker 31: Without those guys, you know, I wouldn't be able to
- 49:38Speaker 31: do it, and with them, I'm able to get through
- 49:41Speaker 31: my entire progression. So read one through read five or six,
- 49:45Speaker 31: I'm able to get through it, have time to get
- 49:47Speaker 31: through it, and then just check it down. I think
- 49:48Speaker 31: that's why my complete percent has been so high, because
- 49:51Speaker 31: I haven't really had to throw the ball away much,
- 49:53Speaker 31: and just because they've been so efficient up front. And
- 49:56Speaker 31: also I would say I have such a great teammates,
- 49:58Speaker 31: such great receivers, tight ends, running backs.
- 50:00Speaker 7: We talk about.
- 50:00Speaker 31: Offensive line that I see give need to be a
- 50:02Speaker 31: point guard.
- 50:03Speaker 7: I see to dish.
- 50:03Speaker 31: Out over here to Elias Are over there, to Omark
- 50:06Speaker 31: Cooper Junior or Charlie Becker and you know, or hand
- 50:08Speaker 31: the ball off or check it to a run. So
- 50:10Speaker 31: I would say, I just need to be the point
- 50:12Speaker 31: guard of the offense and really facilitate it all. And
- 50:14Speaker 31: the talent is really around me. So I think that's
- 50:16Speaker 31: how it's been so efficient.
- 50:17Speaker 13: OK, we're gonna go right here.
- 50:20Speaker 25: I probably know the answer. But do you think much
- 50:23Speaker 25: about the future? Do you know anything about NFL draft picks?
- 50:26Speaker 31: I mean, do you do you at least look at it.
- 50:29Speaker 31: I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't
- 50:30Speaker 31: see it. I see it places, people do, set friends
- 50:33Speaker 31: and family do send it to me. However, I always
- 50:35Speaker 31: tell them I'm really just focused on the next game,
- 50:37Speaker 31: as this is the National Championship.
- 50:39Speaker 6: It's what we worked all year for.
- 50:40Speaker 7: And people, when you know, last.
- 50:43Speaker 31: January, weren't talking about Indiana whosis in the National Championship.
- 50:46Speaker 31: And so I owe it to my teammates, to my coaches,
- 50:48Speaker 31: and to the entire Hoo's your nation and give them
- 50:50Speaker 31: my all. And I would also say that it's such
- 50:52Speaker 31: an important is this an important game? And you know
- 50:55Speaker 31: my life and my teammates life that you know, I'm
- 50:57Speaker 31: really gonna give it my all and not really focus
- 50:59Speaker 31: in the future. And my whole thing is same present
- 51:01Speaker 31: in the present moment in order to make most of
- 51:03Speaker 31: the present. And that's how you make a great future
- 51:05Speaker 31: for yourself.
- 51:06Speaker 7: We're gonna go right here again.
- 51:09Speaker 37: Hello, you transferred to Indiana when the Heisman lead the
- 51:13Speaker 37: team to an undefeated season and now a chance to
- 51:15Speaker 37: win a title in your hometown. First of all, how
- 51:18Speaker 37: do you put into words how special this run has been?
- 51:21Speaker 37: And also what's your message to the next generation the
- 51:24Speaker 37: youngsters out there who are chasing their dreams.
- 51:27Speaker 31: Yeah, I would say that it's been such a special journey.
- 51:29Speaker 31: You can't thank God enough. I can't think my teammates enough.
- 51:31Speaker 31: It's been such a great year, not only on the field,
- 51:34Speaker 31: but also off the field with those guys and in
- 51:36Speaker 31: the meeting rooms. It's been as as special as the
- 51:39Speaker 31: work to describe it. And then also my message to
- 51:42Speaker 31: the youngsters. You know, I briefed it in my Heisman speech,
- 51:45Speaker 31: but I would say that it's no matter what's tart
- 51:48Speaker 31: recruit you are.
- 51:48Speaker 7: If you're too big, too little, what.
- 51:51Speaker 31: You know, you're not high ranked enough.
- 51:53Speaker 7: You can do it.
- 51:54Speaker 4: You can do it.
- 51:54Speaker 7: You gotta put the work in.
- 51:55Speaker 31: And as a kid, I always heard these messages, I'm like, Okay,
- 51:58Speaker 31: does that really mean that you know, little bit of
- 52:00Speaker 31: self doubt? But now having lived that experience and lived
- 52:03Speaker 31: that journey, it really has come full circle to me
- 52:05Speaker 31: and I always want to share the same message to
- 52:07Speaker 31: those youngsters.
- 52:09Speaker 28: Now, Fernando, you dream about this moment as a kid,
- 52:14Speaker 28: has it has it set in yet? And also I
- 52:16Speaker 28: mean you mentioned you know if you're playing in Miami, also,
- 52:19Speaker 28: how does that feel?
- 52:21Speaker 31: Yeah, I would say it feels great. You know, tickets
- 52:23Speaker 31: are definitely a problem because there's so many family members
- 52:25Speaker 31: that want to come to the game. However, I've attempted
- 52:28Speaker 31: to not let it sink in so I could say
- 52:30Speaker 31: in the present moment, I kind of stay in, you know,
- 52:33Speaker 31: the football mindset that I want to stay in because
- 52:35Speaker 31: although that there's so many extranalities of this game, you know,
- 52:38Speaker 31: playing Miami in Miami, that you can get wrapped up
- 52:40Speaker 31: in all the emotion. However, I don't want to keep
- 52:43Speaker 31: it focused on football and really kind of force it
- 52:46Speaker 31: not the thinking and it gets think in next week
- 52:48Speaker 31: or the week after, but I really just want to
- 52:50Speaker 31: focus on football now is to give my team the
- 52:53Speaker 31: best chance, and that's what my teammates.
- 52:56Speaker 28: Fernando, if I.
- 52:56Speaker 13: Can ask you, you talked about coming back and getting
- 52:59Speaker 13: off the playing, But is it surreal to you You
- 53:03Speaker 13: go to Columbus, Mario christ Ball goes to Columbus.
- 53:06Speaker 1: You guys are both come from the same cloth.
- 53:09Speaker 31: What does that all mean to you?
- 53:10Speaker 7: Is it surreal for you? Yeah, says surreal.
- 53:13Speaker 31: I also think it's great for the Christopher Columbus community.
- 53:16Speaker 31: We have so many great individuals in that community that
- 53:19Speaker 31: really are built from the same cloth, are built from
- 53:22Speaker 31: that gritty structure that you know, whether whatever it's battle,
- 53:25Speaker 31: whatever trial tribulations, they're always going to supersede that. And
- 53:28Speaker 31: I think, you know, Mark Chris wall is doing a
- 53:30Speaker 31: fantastic job with the Hurricanes and his entire coaching career,
- 53:33Speaker 31: a coaching undersaved and then the Oregon then to Miami.
- 53:36Speaker 31: I think it's been a great football headlight other Christmaer
- 53:38Speaker 31: Columbus community, along with so many others and really paved
- 53:41Speaker 31: the path for a Christopher Columbus football player ex such
- 53:43Speaker 31: as myself.
- 53:44Speaker 38: For you, Fernando, great to see you. You know this,
- 53:50Speaker 38: you know the story, you know the history of Indiana football.
- 53:53Speaker 38: What would it mean to you to be able to
- 53:55Speaker 38: bring who's your nation a chance here to win a
- 53:59Speaker 38: national time?
- 54:00Speaker 6: What would it mean to you?
- 54:01Speaker 31: Yeah, I would mean a lot, and I know how
- 54:03Speaker 31: much would mean to people, and I know that the
- 54:05Speaker 31: best way to accomplish this goal it is a religious
- 54:07Speaker 31: focus in the football and really just trying to dial
- 54:10Speaker 31: it in for this game and treat as a normal game,
- 54:12Speaker 31: although it's not a normal game, to treat it as one,
- 54:15Speaker 31: and although you can prepare a little bit more and
- 54:18Speaker 31: although that it's gonna externalities are going to pressure it
- 54:20Speaker 31: to be a little bit more than a normal game,
- 54:22Speaker 31: to really really keep it in that mindset, in that
- 54:25Speaker 31: football mindset, and do my part, do my one of
- 54:28Speaker 31: eleventh part on offense and one of twenty two, sorry,
- 54:33Speaker 31: my one job out of twenty two jobs on offense
- 54:35Speaker 31: and defense, and order to give us the best chance
- 54:38Speaker 31: to win, just because I know myself focusing on the
- 54:41Speaker 31: job and myself focused in the present gives the Hoosiers
- 54:43Speaker 31: the best chance to win, and I owe it to
- 54:45Speaker 31: my teammates, to my coach.
- 54:46Speaker 7: Is an Also, who's your nation?
