- 0:00SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be a shorts day for the kids that do have uh school starting today.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: Just realize when they leave it's a little chilly early.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: Uh like we're we're not even at 65 yet.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, we're at 52, but we will get to 79 later.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: So this is one of these days you're like, do you throw them in shorts and just get them out the door?
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: Like, you'll be in a building, you'll be in the car or the bus or a building soon enough.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: And then when you get out of school, you'll be comfortable.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Now, doesn't everybody start school today, or are there some who are rolling out tomorrow too?
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: I thought everybody in New York, because obviously we know PA's back.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: I thought New York was today because the calendar's later.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: That's what I would assume.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Because how can you send them back even later?
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: But I know that there have been at this point, you waiting for Christmas?
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Well, you know how there have been years where it's like, okay, sixth and ninth graders go back today.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: And then the rest of everyone goes back tomorrow.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: That's why I was wondering, is it everyone today or are there some people going back tomorrow too?
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: But I know your kids.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Elmire is today, so.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're going back today.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, did you say hi or bye to them in the camera?
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: I know you've done this before in the past when they're the ring camera, whenever they've gone in the camera, that you've like, bye.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: No, they haven't they haven't left yet.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: It looks like uh it looks like the uh Tiffany was getting things set up uh in the car.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: To get uh to get them out because but it'll be soon.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, it'll be in the next couple minutes.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: By the way, I gotta address this very quickly and then we'll we'll move on very quickly.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Normally at this point, because I was off last week, originally the plan was the kids were, you know, it was their last week before school.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: I was gonna hang out with them and do that.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: And um normally by this point we would talk about, well, what'd you do on your time off or this or that?
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: And we really haven't addressed this, but I I will briefly address this right now.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: It was a very up-ended week uh in our house for and and I know I don't think you had mentioned anything uh while I was gone.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: No, not at all.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: It uh was not this past Tuesday, it was the Tuesday before Tiffany's mom uh fell very ill after uh after work.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: And unfortunately, this past Saturday, she lost her mom.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: So uh it was fairly quick, um very unexpected.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, I mean, obviously, some people, you know, know if a family member is in ailing health.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: This was a complete shock to everyone.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: And she had been actually out of town because her mom was in, you know, Rochester.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: They were doing attempting treatment up there.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: And uh Tiffany was out of town.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Tiffany was out of town, and it was from a week ago Tuesday until finally she got back on Saturday.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Her mom actually had passed, which this is also common.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: I remember this when my mom passed.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: I was out, my brother and I had left the hospital and she had passed after we left.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: My one brother and I, my other brother had stayed.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, but I and then Tiffany was on her way back uh from Rochester, you know, just she hadn't been home in in days, obviously, up being close to the family and and the family coming together and having some time there.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: And so it was a little weird of a well, not a little weird, it was a lot weird, uh, uh, of a past week because that was very consuming as you would expect, um, very unexpected, very sad.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: And her mom was really young.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: 65.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: That's so young, that's younger than my parents.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I know nobody would have would have said, you know, if you would have said that was gonna happen a couple weeks before, nobody would have believed it.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: I even said to Zach, Tiffany is just so young to lose her mother.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: And oh, I'm sorry, it was Sunday that she had passed.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: I've I've lost track of it.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Was Sunday she got vaccinated?
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like the days now are at the time.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: We're bleeding into one.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Right, Labor Day weekend, it's like, what day is it?
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Where am I going?
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: You're right.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Um, how did she feel about her not being there?
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Did she feel at peace about not being next to her mom when her mom passed, or no?
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Um, I think so.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: You know, it's been interesting without going into super big detail on this, because you know, it's it they've gotta take care of that.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: I've I watched an interesting process take place where I think Tiffany specifically knew, and her one other sister knew that um she wasn't gonna pull through.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: It took a little bit of time to get there because you know, there's always hope.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, at the beginning.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, when they when that first happened, I was like, oh, oh, she'll just in my mind, I was like, okay, so she fell, yadda yadda, like we'll she'll she'll come through.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Like that's that's just I think human nature for us to be like, they'll be.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: In the beginning, yeah.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: And it but it so I think and and listening to to her share some of the feelings she's had, I think there was one point where it started to settle a little bit inside of her, going, okay, this is, you know, she's already left us, if you will.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Um so it it it was it it's definitely, I mean, look, it's hard.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: A loss is a loss.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter uh if you've been able to process to say, okay, I don't think they're going to pull through to still the loss that it is.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: And it's gonna keep coming back.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Like for instance, what it might be just a song she hears on the radio, or it'll be a holiday or whatever it is.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: I always say that grief is like a bird that's flying up above and then all of a sudden swoops down and just hits you just like that.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: For what reason?
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Who knows?
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: And that does happen, that's part of it.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Um and I even said to Tiffany, I responded with once her and I were texting about some of the the things.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: I said, Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: And I wanted to continue texting, yeah, but then I was like, there's nothing that I'm gonna say that's gonna make this any better whatsoever.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: But there was this part of me, there was this part of me that was like, oh, I wanted to like say something more, but I'm like, Allie, let it go.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they had to kind of work through things with the family together.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, and really that was the one that was the one thing I reminded her of.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: I said, hey, listen, your mom got as many of you guys together in one, you know, location for a period of time, and that hadn't happened in a long time.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I went up at one point and I met her uncle that I had not met yet.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: So it was, you know, you you you you that is the one well, I I'll say positive out of it.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: The one comforting thing that I I kept saying, look, you guys were together.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: It's those instances though that whenever that's happened for us too, we always say, Can we please not get together just for funerals?
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: No, right?
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Because that is when it happens.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: That's when you see all the cousins that you haven't seen in forever.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: And I'm thinking, oh no, I really like you and I want to see you more often.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, not that, you know, not that I want to spend too much time on that.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Uh, and God, she was a fun woman.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: She was just a fun lady, you know.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: But your life was upended over over the past two weeks.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: Well, it's been an odd couple.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was real weird because the night that it happened when when when she first called and said, I need to go, like, you know, and and deal with this.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: I just seen Tiffany 30 minutes before that, dropping off her Diet Cokes.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: I'm like, what?
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: I mean, I was literally back at home and she calls, she goes, I gotta, I have to go deal with something right now.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, this is weird.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: It was so shocking.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: It was I couldn't believe that it that it happened.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: And I know that she lives in Hornell and there's a a really strong community in Hornell.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: So I'm sure that they will be rallying around that family, at least I would hope would be rallying around that family and and supporting them in what you know, whether that's like a DoorDash gift card or a meal or even just a card when they're saying I'm thinking about you.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: It's a private kind of thing going on, but you're right.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: That is a community where a lot of people know each other.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, because you think about it, you come to a corning in Elmyra, you may you may not know your neighbors three doors down.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: But in Cornell, there's like 10 people.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: She she had nicknames for all the neighbors.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: God, they were great.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: Cooter.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Uh send a car, Cooter.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: God almighty, get a door dash, will you?
