- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: All right, let's go to Nat. Thanks, Sean, by the way.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And get a hit of celeb news. What do you got?
- 0:07Speaker 3: So Sydney Sweeney's latest viral commercial for a betting agency
- 0:11Speaker 3: or a betting company called Novig is being slammed by
- 0:14Speaker 3: female athletes all around the world. So if you haven't
- 0:17Speaker 3: seen this or heard about it, Basically, it's been viewed
- 0:20Speaker 3: more than 22 million.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Times for obvious reasons.
- 0:22Speaker 3: It's a naked Sydney Sweeney who's a very hot woman
- 0:25Speaker 3: who's got a range of different sporting balls in front
- 0:29Speaker 3: of her breasts. And she's at one point straddling a
- 0:31Speaker 3: basketball hoop and things like that. And as it's cutting
- 0:35Speaker 3: to different scenes, she keeps saying it's just sports.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Just sports.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Have a listen to a little bit of the ad
- 0:40Speaker 1: if you haven't heard it.
- 0:42Speaker 4: Prove it.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Novick is just sports. So they wanted a show.
- 0:52Speaker 3: You can trade this sport.
- 0:55Speaker 1: And this sport and this sport. So we can get
- 0:59Speaker 1: the idea. If you haven't seen it before, look it up.
- 1:01Speaker 1: It's a lot of boob.
- 1:02Speaker 2: That's all I'll say.
- 1:03Speaker 3: A lot of boob, which Sydney Sweeney's kind of known for.
- 1:05Speaker 3: But it's female athletes from all around the world that
- 1:07Speaker 3: are really angry about this ad. One person in particular
- 1:11Speaker 3: is Australia's very own four-time Olympic swimming champion, Ariane Titmuss. Now,
- 1:15Speaker 3: she's posted about it saying, I can't describe how infuriated
- 1:18Speaker 3: I feel when I watch this. Not only is it
- 1:20Speaker 3: a kick in the face to every woman who has
- 1:22Speaker 3: dedicated her life to perfecting her craft, but every woman
- 1:25Speaker 3: who enjoys sports for what it really is. Teamwork, friendship, dedication, excellence, unity.
- 1:30Speaker 3: How do we live in a world where monetizing a
- 1:31Speaker 3: woman's body and sexualizing women's sport is still a thing?
- 1:35Speaker 3: And I've seen a bunch of these on my socials
- 1:37Speaker 3: as well, where it's other female athletes, whether it be
- 1:39Speaker 3: rugby league players or sprinters or anything like that, where
- 1:43Speaker 3: they're showing themselves training hard, putting their body on the
- 1:46Speaker 3: line and going through hell for their sport. And they're like,
- 1:49Speaker 3: This is sport. Not what Sydney Sweeney is trying to
- 1:51Speaker 3: make it out to be.
- 1:52Speaker 4: But I think what Sydney Sweeney is, the advertising that
- 1:56Speaker 4: she's doing is for a betting app, right? And so
- 1:59Speaker 4: I would say that their demographic is predominantly males. Yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Right?
- 2:03Speaker 4: So they're not trying to lure women into this betting app.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Not saying that women also don't bet. I can see
- 2:08Speaker 1: both sides.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Like, I can understand why they've used Sydney Sweeney. Like, they're...
- 2:13Speaker 4: I can see what she's done and that's just what
- 2:16Speaker 4: she's known for, like sex sells, right? So they've probably
- 2:18Speaker 4: got a bazillion males signing up for that betting app.
- 2:21Speaker 4: But I can also understand that it is infuriating.
- 2:24Speaker 1: For professional female athletes.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Who've spent years trying to get people to take their
- 2:29Speaker 3: sport seriously.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Think Women's Rugby League, for example. I feel really bad.
- 2:33Speaker 3: We watch it on TV sometimes and you look in
- 2:35Speaker 3: the background, there's no one in the crowd.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I saw that the other night. There was a game,
- 2:39Speaker 2: no one there. Same with the AFL, the female one.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's just like the women are putting in
- 2:45Speaker 3: the same amount of effort as the men. They're never
- 2:48Speaker 3: going to get paid as much. They're never going to
- 2:50Speaker 3: have the same care factor from people and they're fighting
- 2:53Speaker 3: for that. And then you've got someone like Sydney Sweeney
- 2:55Speaker 3: come along who just gets her tits out. I don't know.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I'm assuming has never played a high level sport in
- 2:59Speaker 3: her life. And it's going, this is sport.
- 3:01Speaker 2: This is sport.
- 3:02Speaker 1: So I get why it pisses them off. You know
- 3:04Speaker 1: what I do.
- 3:05Speaker 5: With that footy, by the way, I was thinking the
- 3:06Speaker 5: other day, I know that not every male team has
- 3:09Speaker 5: a female team, but once they do, every game should
- 3:13Speaker 5: be lined up. So the girls play, then the guys play.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah. What is it?
- 3:17Speaker 3: Is it the, like the reserve grade plays before them?
- 3:20Speaker 5: Yeah, and also, like, say NRL, for example, and Sean
- 3:24Speaker 5: would know, not every NRL team has a female team yet, right?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
- 3:27Speaker 1: They're trying to get there eventually, but not everyone has it.
- 3:30Speaker 2: But once they do, don't you think that would make sense?
- 3:31Speaker 5: So say the boys kick off at 7.30, get the
- 3:34Speaker 5: girls to play at 5.30.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and then people just rock up early and just go, oh,
- 3:37Speaker 3: I may as well watch the women's.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Exactly, right?
- 3:39Speaker 1: Which still is annoying. I may as well.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but you get more of a crowd that way, right?
- 3:43Speaker 1: But look at how big... The crowd was for the Matildas.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Yep.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So they got an impressive turnout. I reckon better than men.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Yeah, 100% they did. People care more about the Matildas
- 3:52Speaker 2: than the Socceroos.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I think the unfortunate reality, though, is that's because we
- 3:55Speaker 1: were winning.
- 3:56Speaker 3: And then after that, after that World Cup, how much
- 3:59Speaker 3: have people been speaking about the Matildas?
- 4:01Speaker 2: Not at all. We did a question on the Pop
- 4:03Speaker 2: Cruise the other day. No one knew who they were.
- 4:04Speaker 3: In general, though, it's just, as a woman, I'm saying
- 4:07Speaker 3: it's really, it sucks that people don't care as much
- 4:11Speaker 3: about women in sport.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So, Taron Egerton, another story.
- 4:15Speaker 3: So, you know, this guy from Rocketman, he played Elton John,
- 4:18Speaker 3: the Kingsman, or even that new movie Apex that was
- 4:21Speaker 3: on Netflix with Charlene Theron.
- 4:22Speaker 1: It was filmed in Australia.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Yeah, the Blue Mountains.
- 4:25Speaker 4: I haven't seen it.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I'll watch it.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really good.
- 4:28Speaker 3: He's like this weirdo that lives in the bush and
- 4:30Speaker 3: then like lures people in that are traveling through, basically.
- 4:33Speaker 2: He's a weirdo. You know how Netflix movies can be... Yeah, similar.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Is it horror?
- 4:40Speaker 2: It's not.
- 4:41Speaker 1: It's scary, but, you know, Wolf Creek, there's that element.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 2: You know, Netflix can be, like, hit and miss with
- 4:46Speaker 2: their movies.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It depends on the genre, right?
- 4:47Speaker 3: So, like, you've got your comedy Netflix movies and some
- 4:50Speaker 3: of them are really low budget and you watch it
- 4:51Speaker 3: and you're.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Like, whoa. What just happened?
- 4:53Speaker 2: This one's really good.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It is worth watching. Now, he also has an upcoming film.
- 4:58Speaker 3: It's just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival coming out
- 5:01Speaker 3: as a wider theatrical release next year.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It's called Everybody Wants to F Me.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Oh. And it's a British comedy thriller where his character,
- 5:09Speaker 3: Adam Samuels, is an art gallery employee who seduces women
- 5:12Speaker 3: for a night and then discards them the next day.
- 5:15Speaker 3: And he was saying that if you go to this
- 5:18Speaker 3: movie with a date, he's got one guarantee for you.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Take a listen. I, this is.
- 5:23Speaker 2: A guarantee from me.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You take someone to see Everybody Wants to F * * * Me.
- 5:28Speaker 2: You're going to get laid.
- 5:29Speaker 3: He's saying after you watch it, you're going to get laid.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Foreplay.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Is that like taking a chick to Fifty Shades or
- 5:36Speaker 5: Magic Mike or something?
- 5:37Speaker 2: Potentially. Does that work as well?
- 5:39Speaker 3: If someone said to me, come over, let's watch a movie,
- 5:43Speaker 3: and then he goes, oh, what about this one?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Fifty Shades. Fifty Shades.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I would die of secondhand embarrassment. Yeah.
