- 0:00Chapter 6 of Isaiah. This is called Israel
- 0:05Unrepentant. Dear God, please help us as we
- 0:08read through this scripture and give us wisdom and insight and
- 0:15future application. We ask for this in Jesus name,
- 0:20Amen. Come let us return to the Lord.
- 0:25He has torn us to pieces, but He will heal us.
- 0:29He has injured us, but He will bind up our wounds.
- 0:34After two days He will revive us.
- 0:37On the third day He will restore us that we may live in His
- 0:41presence. Let us acknowledge the Lord.
- 0:45Let us press on to acknowledge Him.
- 0:47As surely as the sun rises, He will appear.
- 0:50He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring
- 0:54rains that water the earth. What can I do with you, Ephraim?
- 0:58What can I do with you, Judah? Your love is like the morning
- 1:02mist, like the early dew that disappears.
- 1:05Therefore I cut you in pieces with my prophets.
- 1:09I killed you with the words of my mouth.
- 1:12Then my judgments go forth like the sun.
- 1:15For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, an acknowledgement of
- 1:19God rather than burnt offerings as at Adam.
- 1:22They have broken the covenant. They were unfaithful to me
- 1:25there. Gilead is a city of evil doers,
- 1:28stained with the footprints of blood.
- 1:30As marauders lie in the ambush for a victim, so do bands of
- 1:35priests they murder on the road to Shechem, carrying out their
- 1:39wicked schemes. I have seen a horrible thing in
- 1:42Israel. There Ephraim is given to
- 1:45prostitution. Israel is defiled also for you
- 1:49Judah, a harvest is appointed. So that was a really quick
- 1:55chapter, but there is so much in this chapter that this might end
- 1:59up being a long Bible study so I'll read the questions and
- 2:04answers 1st for this chapter. Was Israel's repentance genuine
- 2:09or fake? If genuine, these beautiful
- 2:11words of repentance were extremely short lived.
- 2:14Verse 4 It may have been that Hosea recalled Israel's pattern
- 2:19throughout history. When in trouble, the people
- 2:22would cry out to God for help. When help came, the people would
- 2:26quickly revert to their old ways.
- 2:30Why didn't God want the people to offer sacrifices anymore?
- 2:33God preferred to see the practical results of a repentant
- 2:37lifestyle. He wanted them to turn from sin
- 2:40and do what was right and just. What God did not want was empty
- 2:45religious ritual. The people were simply going
- 2:49through the motions. They were following His
- 2:51instructions, but their hearts were not in the religious deeds.
- 2:56How could priests be become a murdering, marauding mob?
- 3:02These priests were destroying the people by leading them into
- 3:06idolatry and failing to provide genuine spiritual leadership.
- 3:12The results of the priest's actions were just as devastating
- 3:17and destructive as a hostile army invading the land.
- 3:22What was the road to Shechem? Shechem was on the road between
- 3:26the capital city of the northern Kingdom, Samaria, and its
- 3:30religious center, Bethel. It was a city of major religious
- 3:34and political importance throughout the Old Testament.
- 3:38The image here is that worshippers on their way to
- 3:41Bethel with their offerings were a prime target for crime.
- 3:46And that's the end of the questions and answers.
- 3:48So going back, it's you know, Jose is a prophet and he's
- 3:54talking in the early 7 hundreds BC this was written around 7:15
- 4:03or so. So mid 7 hundreds was one this
- 4:07was written and he's he's giving a warning to Israel and and also
- 4:15ultimately to Judah as well. He resides in Judah, but he's
- 4:19giving this information primarily to Israel.
- 4:22But then he's saying, you know, let's turn to God and he's
- 4:26recognizing that they have been through some devastating losses,
- 4:32but he will heal us. They have confidence.
- 4:35He has confidence in God that he will spiritually be healed.
- 4:40They will be healed. He has injured us, but He will
- 4:43bind up our wounds. So they're showing some faith.
- 4:47I mean, Hosea is at least. And then here's where the
- 4:51prophecy is. After two days, He will revive
- 4:54us. On the third day He will restore
- 4:58us that we may live in his presence.
- 5:02Now this certainly is not a way back then prophecy because it
- 5:10talks about after two days. It's talking about the Lord
- 5:14after two days. He, God will revive us on the
- 5:18third day He will restore us that we may live in his
- 5:22presence. Well, to me that sounds like the
- 5:25millennial reign of Christ. That's the time when the people,
- 5:29when all people will be living with Christ in the presence of
- 5:34Christ. And so this is again thousands
- 5:40of years before Jesus was born. Well, almost 1000 years before
- 5:46Jesus was born where this was prophesied.
- 5:49And and it wasn't even prophesying of his initial
- 5:55arrival, but it's prophesying about his second coming.
- 6:00And so there's another really good series of videos if you
- 6:06haven't seen them yet or listen to them, but yeah, they're
- 6:10pretty detailed. You'd have to watch them a
- 6:12couple times to really absorb everything that they talk about.
- 6:15But they're called Messiah 2030 and they did an excellent job of
- 6:20pointing out all of the repetitious symbology that's
- 6:26within the Bible and prophecy. So I believe this is one of the
- 6:31verses that they do talk about after two days.
- 6:34And then they bring into account the the scripture that says that
- 6:39a day is like 1000 years and 1000 years like a day.
- 6:44So after two days would be 2000 years.
- 6:49He will revive us and I guess the speculation or the theory is
- 6:56that Jesus died around 30 AD and then 2000 years later after two
- 7:05days would revive us. That's where the 2030 is coming
- 7:09in Messiah 2030, because that's the the theory that they've put
- 7:15forth on this. And then the third day he will
- 7:18restore us. So that would be the, you know,
- 7:21during that Millennium reign on the third day, because that
- 7:24would be another 1000 years. And the third day is really
- 7:30significant too. I was, as I read that there was
- 7:33like the third day, three days. Those are all, you know, really
- 7:38symbolic. And if you go to a digital copy
- 7:42of the Bible and like blueletterbible.org and then
- 7:46just search Third day, you'll find out in the New
- 7:50International Version, you'll find that it occurs 106 times in
- 7:5547 verses. And it starts in Genesis.
- 8:00And you could look at that and just say, OK, well, it's
- 8:04repeated. You know, it's a large book,
- 8:06that the Bible's a large book. Well, that's true.
- 8:09But isn't it weird or a coincidence or more than a
- 8:14coincidence that it talks about Third Day?
- 8:19Like, I mean, it just, it seems like it's always the third day
- 8:26or three days. And there's a reason I believe.
- 8:30And let's see. And there was evening and there
- 8:32was morning the third day. And then on the third day,
- 8:36Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
- 8:40And then on the third day, Laban was told that Jacob had fled.
- 8:44Now, the third day was Pharaoh's birthday.
- 8:46On the 3rd day, Joseph said to them, do this and you will live.
- 8:51And so these are all different parts of the Bible, like those
- 8:54were all from the book of Genesis.
- 8:56Then they have Exodus. This talks about Exodus 19 when
- 9:02the Lord gave them the 10 commandments and be ready by the
- 9:06third day because on that day the Lord will come down on Mount
- 9:11Sinai in the sight of the people.
- 9:14Well, that's really interesting because that was the initial,
- 9:18initial covenant that God made with people was the 10
- 9:22commandments, the laws. And then think about this, that
- 9:29a day is like 1000 years and then like three, well, I don't
- 9:34know, like 3000 years later, Jesus returns and he is the new
- 9:43covenant and he comes, he will come down as his feet will
- 9:47actually come down on a mountain too.
- 9:50At at one point of that in Bible prophecy, what it talks about
- 9:55will happen. And then in Exodus, it says,
- 9:58then he said to the people, prepare yourselves for the third
- 10:01day. Abstain from sexual relations.
- 10:04That was part of their custom there, their culture to be
- 10:08clean. And then on the morning of the
- 10:11third day, there was Thunder and lightning with a thick cloud
- 10:14over the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast.
- 10:17Everyone in the camp trembled. That's from Exodus.
- 10:21But think about this. When Jesus returns, he will be
- 10:25coming on the clouds and with a loud trumpet call.
- 10:31So again, it's pointing to Jesus.
- 10:34This is back in the book of Exodus and any of the meat of
- 10:39the sacrifice leftover till the 3rd day must be burned up.
- 10:44There's way more than I'm actually absorbing with this
- 10:50third day. But when you read through these
- 10:53things, then you will start to see that it's, it's kind of like
- 10:59a on the third day, there's a reconciliation of things.
- 11:04There are either people who have made themselves clean or people
- 11:08who are, who will be, you know, burned up or not in a literal,
- 11:16literal sense, but maybe in a literal sense.
- 11:19But people will be destroyed. The ones who have not, you know,
- 11:22our we'll go through a trial or a testing period because there,
- 11:27there will be some survivors after the wrath of God.
- 11:32It does say that in the Bible. I think it's in Zephaniah, I
- 11:36believe is where our Zechariah where I did find at the very
- 11:41end, the last chapter where there were survivors after the
- 11:44wrath of God. So it just throughout again,
- 11:49just that the third day gets brought up so many times and
- 11:53then you have it in the Old Testament and then the New
- 11:56Testament. And then it was also symbolic of
- 12:03what Jesus was going to do. And it said like in Matthew
- 12:06chapter 16. From that time on, Jesus began
- 12:09to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and
- 12:12suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests
- 12:15and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on
- 12:19the third day be raised to life. So again, that that you know, on
- 12:25the going back to Hosea, chapter 6, verse 2, on the third day, he
- 12:32will restore us. Well, Jesus was raised to life
- 12:35on the third day. So it's like there's a pattern
- 12:39here. Let's see it.
- 12:43It says that over and over again.
- 12:46They will kill him. And on the third day, he will be
- 12:48raised to life. And the disciples were filled
- 12:50with grief. And they will hand him over to
- 12:52the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified.
- 12:55On the third day he will be raised to life.
- 13:00So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the 3rd
- 13:04day. Otherwise his disciples may come
- 13:08and steal the body and tell the people that he had been raised
- 13:11from the dead. This last deception will be
- 13:13worse than the first. These are excerpts from various
- 13:20parts of the Gospel. I just did a word search on the
- 13:23third day. And then Luke says, and he said
- 13:28the Son of Man must suffer many things to be rejected by the
- 13:32elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he
- 13:35must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
- 13:40And also in Luke, he replied, this is Jesus replying, Go tell
- 13:45that fox. I will keep on driving out
- 13:47demons and healing people today and tomorrow and on the third
- 13:52day I will reach my goal. That's almost like code for
- 13:56Jesus saying, you know, I'm going to keep on doing what I'm
- 13:59doing here, but just wait till that third day comes that he
- 14:03will reach his goal when he rises from the dead.
- 14:07But he didn't, you know, have to even share that he was just
- 14:10going to show what that was. But it was he was repeated.
- 14:15He told his followers that he would be raised on that and and
- 14:20they didn't even realize it because they just thought he was
- 14:23gone afterwards. They didn't realize or
- 14:26understand what he was saying to them.
- 14:29But it was all documented in the Gospel that that's what he told
- 14:32them. It was only after the fact.
- 14:34And then this was really interesting.
- 14:35It was like when Jesus did his first miracle, it said on the
- 14:38third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee.
- 14:43Jesus's mother was there. And that's just interesting too,
- 14:47because again, this restoration is often shown symbolically as a
- 14:55wedding between the bride and bridegroom, where Jesus is the
- 15:00bridegroom and believers are the bride.
- 15:04And, and then it says in Acts, but God raised him from the dead
- 15:09on the third day and caused him to be seen.
- 15:14And so it goes. You know it, there's a lot of
- 15:19that in Scripture on the third day.
- 15:21So I only read a few of those, but then I was thinking on the
- 15:25three days and there that is listed 151 times in 65 verses
- 15:33from the New International Version, so about 3 days.
- 15:40And I just think it's kind of, it's a great way to study the
- 15:45Bible. If you do this in the electronic
- 15:47version, maybe when I'm reading it here, it's it's not as
- 15:51impactful. But if you do it on your own and
- 15:54then you search it and then just read, see every place where it
- 15:59says 3 days or the third day and then even read the the context
- 16:04that it's given for the sentence as well.
- 16:06But there is a lot of symbolism and you will have a deeper
- 16:10understanding of three days. I did do a search and just said,
- 16:16you know what was the significance of three days in
- 16:18Jewish culture? And the number 3 is frequently
- 16:22associated with divine wholeness and perfection.
- 16:25In the Bible, the third day is often highlighted as the moment
- 16:28when something reaches its culmination or when a new phase
- 16:32begins. Well, that would make sense.
- 16:33On the third day during the millennial reign, there's going
- 16:37to be a change. It's going to be a new creation.
- 16:40Here are some other examples of the third day in creation.
- 16:44God creates light on the third day, making a significant step
- 16:49in the creation narrative. In Exodus, the Israelites
- 16:53journey into the wilderness for three days to offer sacrifice,
- 16:57signifying a departure and a new beginning.
- 17:00In Esther, Queen Esther's decision to approach the king
- 17:04after three days of fasting and prayer leads to the salvation of
- 17:09the Jewish people. And then Jonah spends 3 days and
- 17:13three nights in the belly of the fish, a period that prefigures
- 17:17the resurrection and new life. And then it does reference the
- 17:21book of Hosea, which we're in. In the book of Hosea, the phrase
- 17:25after two days he will revive, revive us.
- 17:30On the third day, he will raise us up is understood by many to
- 17:34refer to resurrection and Jewish burial practice.
- 17:39Some Jewish traditions suggest the soul hovers near the body
- 17:43for three days after death, adding another layer of
- 17:46significance to the number three in the context of life, death
- 17:50and renewal. And then I was, I just searched,
- 17:57what is the significance of the third day?
- 18:01And then in the context of Jesus's resurrection, the third
- 18:04day refers to the day on which Jesus rose from the dead,
- 18:07specifically the third day after his crucifixion.
- 18:11This is a crucial event in Christianity, fulfilling Old
- 18:14Testament prophecies and signifying the victory over
- 18:18death and the promise of new life for believers.
- 18:24And then there was another thing that I had read that was pretty
- 18:32good. So, from gotquestions.org, what
- 18:37was the significance of Jesus being dead for three days?
- 18:41There are several reasons it is significant.
- 18:43Jesus was dead for three days before his resurrection.
- 18:47First, resurrection after three days of death proved to Jesus's
- 18:51opponents that he truly rose from the dead.
- 18:54Why? According to Jewish tradition, a
- 18:57person's soul spirit remained with his or her body for three
- 19:01days. After three days, the soul slash
- 19:04spirit departed. If Jesus's resurrection had
- 19:07occurred on the same day, or even the next day, it would have
- 19:11been easier for his enemies to argue he never truly died.
- 19:15Significantly, Jesus waited several days after Lazarus had
- 19:19died before he came to resurrect Lazarus so that no one could
- 19:24deny the miracle, and you can find that in John Chapter 11,
- 19:28verses 38 through 44. A second reason it was important
- 19:33for Jesus to be dead for three days was to fulfill Bible
- 19:37biblical prophecy. Jesus personally claimed he
- 19:41would be dead 3 days. He claimed that in Matthew and
- 19:45in John also, some point to Hosea 6 one through 3 as a
- 19:51prophecy of the Messiah's resurrection.
- 19:55After three days come, let us return to the Lord.
- 19:58He has torn us to pieces, but He will heal us.
- 20:01He has injured us, but He will bind up our wounds.
- 20:04After two days He will revive us.
- 20:06On the third day He will restore us that we may live in His
- 20:09presence. Let us.
- 20:11To acknowledge the Lord, let us press on to acknowledge him.
- 20:14As surely as the sun arise, rises, he will appear.
- 20:17He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring
- 20:21rains and that water the earth. This may also be the passage
- 20:26Paul refers to in First Corinthians 15 verse four, that
- 20:30Jesus was raised on the third day according to scriptures.
- 20:36I also think it means more about the end times because that's
- 20:40when the Israelites and will be restored at the people that he's
- 20:46talking to actually that Jose is actually talking to.
- 20:50But this will be way off into the future for them.
- 20:54The three days were significant in other ways as well.
- 20:57Jesus died on a Friday, Nissan 14, the day when passed, when
- 21:01the Passover Lamb was sacrificed.
- 21:04His death represents the death of a perfect, unblemished
- 21:07sacrifice on our behalf. His resurrection on the third
- 21:10day took place on the first day of the week, illustrating a new
- 21:15beginning, a new life to all who trust in Him.
- 21:19So why was it important for Jesus to be dead for three days
- 21:23before his resurrection? Number one, so the unbelieving
- 21:26Jews could not deny that Jesus had truly been dead.
- 21:30And two, because three days is what Jesus himself prophesied.
- 21:34Aside from these two reasons, the Word of God does not
- 21:37explicitly state the reason for the necessity of three days
- 21:41between Jesus's death and resurrection.
- 21:47He did say that like when I think it was Martha had gone up
- 21:53to him, that he told her not to embrace him or touch him because
- 22:01he had he had not yet transformed.
- 22:05So there there was the a process of some sort that happened too
- 22:12about the appearing of the Lord. So of course in chapter 6 of
- 22:17Hosea it says he will as surely as the sun rises he will appear.
- 22:23So this is absolutely talking about Jesus.
- 22:26So in Matthew 24, verse 30, it says, then will appear the Son
- 22:30of the man, the Son of man. That's the way Jesus was
- 22:34referred to in heaven. And then all the peoples of the
- 22:37earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the
- 22:42clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
- 22:47And then in Zechariah Chapter 9 verse 14, it says, and this is
- 22:52another prophetic book. Then the Lord will appear over
- 22:56them. His arrow will flash like
- 22:59lightning. The sovereign Lord will sound
- 23:01the trumpet. He will March in the storms of
- 23:05the South. And then in Colossians 3 verse
- 23:124, when Christ who is your life appears, then you will also
- 23:19appear with Him in glory. So to give that a little bit of
- 23:24context, it says this is about believers and to set your minds
- 23:30on things above, not on earthly things.
- 23:32For you died spiritually to your sinful nature, madding that part
- 23:38of it in, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God,
- 23:44because Christ is the mediator and He made atonement for our
- 23:47sins so that we we can get into God's Kingdom.
- 23:54Then we go to Hebrews 9 verse 28.
- 23:57So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many, and
- 24:02he will appear a second time not to bear sin, but to bring
- 24:08salvation to those who are waiting for Him.
- 24:15And then there was another part where at the end of Hosea, it
- 24:20talked about also for you Judah, a harvest is appointed.
- 24:26This is another word that is very interesting to search.
- 24:30In the New International Version, it occurs 97 times in
- 24:3487 verses. And it's there's some symbology
- 24:39here. There's of course the, the wheat
- 24:42harvest, the barley harvest and the wine harvest.
- 24:47And they occur at different times.
- 24:51And I do believe these things are very symbolic and just about
- 24:58when you pray and then you read these things and ask for the
- 25:04Holy Spirit to give discernment about some of this.
- 25:07But it's it's like the grape harvest is the harvest of the
- 25:15the remaining ones. It's at the very end.
- 25:17And it's for the wickedness because when we go into the Book
- 25:20of Revelation, it talks about the sickle being going, you
- 25:27know, gathering the grapes, but then they go into the wine
- 25:31press. So that's the wrath of God.
- 25:34That is not the gathering of the ones that are stored because
- 25:40that's the earlier harvest. That's where they talk about the
- 25:43wheat and the tares growing together or the wheat and weeds
- 25:47growing together. And just to let them all grow
- 25:50together until the harvesters come.
- 25:52And then they will bind up all the weeds or the tares.
- 25:57They'll bind up all of the bad stuff and then they will take
- 26:02away the wheat to the barn for storage.
- 26:06But the stuff that's bound up is is bound up to be burned later.
- 26:13So they will the wrath will happen later.
- 26:17So when you start looking into the harvest, it really does
- 26:21sound like the early harvest the first fruits will be.
- 26:25I mean, that's sounds like a time for the gathering of
- 26:31people. And then, but at the grape
- 26:35harvest, it does say that there were two sets of angels.
- 26:39It's important to read very closely what scripture says
- 26:43because 1 Angel comes out and then it was harvested.
- 26:49The grapes were harvested. And I wonder if that if there is
- 26:53like a if it does have to do with Israel.
- 26:59And so the ones who have prepared themselves then are
- 27:03harvested, are gathered. But then the ones who haven't
- 27:07who rejected will then be put into the wine pressed.
- 27:11Like there are some that are gathered because there's 2
- 27:14angels that come out a second one comes out with a sickle and
- 27:16that's when they have the the other harvest that isn't such a
- 27:21great harvest. So when we read scripture really
- 27:24carefully, we'll pick up on some of these things.
- 27:27And so I think that this chapter that we just read, chapter 6,
- 27:33has a lot of prophetic information in it.
- 27:37It is prophetic and it was prophetic for the time, but I
- 27:41think it's also applicable to future to the end times and for
- 27:46the reasons that I had stated. So check it out if you want to
- 27:51look. It's we're already at almost a
- 27:5230 minute podcast, so I will stop now, but look up Harvest in
- 27:58an electronic copy of the Bible because it's really interesting.
- 28:04And if you're interested in timings of things, those are
- 28:07just questions that I have. Like are there going to be
- 28:10different gatherings and or did the first gathering was that
- 28:15when Jesus resurrected he was the first fruit so that ones
- 28:18already over and then will the next one be the grapes?
- 28:21We don't know. We won't know until it actually
- 28:24happens and then in hindsight. But it is interesting to look at
- 28:28Scripture and try to understand some things and also to see the
- 28:32symbolism and the prophecy and all the they are.
- 28:35There are clues throughout Scripture that God gives us and
- 28:39the Holy Spirit can help us to understand that.
- 28:41So pray for the Holy Spirit's and revelation and understanding
- 28:46as we read through the Word. That's why I do that every time
- 28:50before I start reading. So anyway, have a good evening
- 28:53and we'll pick up with Chapter 7 next time.
