- 1:01Speaker 1: greatest thing. Since the Bengals Ring of Honor reception on
- 1:06Speaker 1: Saturday night, I had the honor of serving as the
- 1:09Speaker 1: MC for a special event honoring this year's Ring of
- 1:13Speaker 1: Honor inductees Tim Crumrie and Corey Dillon, whose names were
- 1:17Speaker 1: added to the Ring of Honor at halftime of Monday
- 1:20Speaker 1: night's game. Roughly five hundred season ticket members attended Saturday's event,
- 1:25Speaker 1: and I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did,
- 1:28Speaker 1: as former teammates, coaches, and media members shared some great
- 1:32Speaker 1: stories about Tim and Corey. Kudos to the Bengals for
- 1:36Speaker 1: putting on a first class event celebrating two of the
- 1:40Speaker 1: roughest and toughest players to ever wear Bengals stripes. Now
- 1:46Speaker 1: Time four Radio replays from Monday night's wild game against Washington. Tonight,
- 1:52Speaker 1: the prime time spotlight shines on Cincinnati, where the atmosphere
- 1:57Speaker 1: for night games is absolutely electric, as good as it
- 2:01Speaker 1: gets in the NFL. That's helped the Bengals win six
- 2:05Speaker 1: straight primetime home games, and they'll look to make it
- 2:09Speaker 1: seven tonight against the Washington Commanders. And it is time
- 2:13Speaker 1: for the pig skin to fly. Here in the jungle,
- 2:17Speaker 1: Borrow under center play action, fake five step drop deep
- 2:21Speaker 1: before Chase got.
- 2:22Speaker 2: It half the five touchdown Bengals show Burrow floating a
- 2:30Speaker 2: beautiful ball downfield Jamar Chase two in the gritty.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Have the Bengals store a touchdown? How they're opening drive
- 2:38Speaker 1: second in goal inches away. Jayden dangles in the shotgun,
- 2:41Speaker 1: standing at the five yard line. The rookie quarterback hands
- 2:45Speaker 1: it off to Robinson and he knifes through the middle
- 2:48Speaker 1: of the line for a Washington TV Here's a first
- 2:50Speaker 1: down handoff and bouncing and why to the left. Fifteen
- 2:54Speaker 1: ten five touchdown Washington our right handed spike Austin Eckler,
- 3:01Speaker 1: and Washington has scored touchdowns on its first two drives
- 3:06Speaker 1: to take a thirteen to seven leave. This will be
- 3:08Speaker 1: a twenty eight yard field goal attempt from the right
- 3:11Speaker 1: hash for Evan McPherson, who missed from forty eight yards
- 3:15Speaker 1: away earlier in this corner a quarter rather, the kick
- 3:19Speaker 1: is up. This one is good and the Bengals pull
- 3:22Speaker 1: within four. It is first in goal at the four.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Daniels fakes a handoff, runs left. Nobody saw it coming.
- 3:32Speaker 1: The Bengals completely fooled, and Jadan Daniels trots into the
- 3:37Speaker 1: end zone untouched for a Washington score. He didn't even
- 3:40Speaker 1: have to really run, he just jogged in. Daniels under center,
- 3:43Speaker 1: He takes the snap, fakes a handoff, Bobs went into
- 3:46Speaker 1: the end zone and an offensive lineman makes the catch
- 3:49Speaker 1: for the Washington touchdown. Trent Scott hauls in the TV
- 3:55Speaker 1: huge play here. Fourth and goal from the two with
- 3:58Speaker 1: three h seven to go third quarter, Burrow in the shotgun,
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yos Bosh and Higgins out to the right, Jamar Chase
- 4:04Speaker 1: out to the left, Zack Moss in the backfield. Yosi
- 4:07Speaker 1: Bosh goes in motion. Burrow drops back to throw his pass, caught.
- 4:11Speaker 3: At the goal line, touchdown Bengals on Drey Yo t
- 4:16Speaker 3: Bosh has the Bengals go for it on fourth and
- 4:20Speaker 3: goal from the two and debt how badly needed touchdown?
- 4:24Speaker 1: Burrow is said, extends the hands, A blitz is coming.
- 4:27Speaker 1: He gets rid of the ball, throwing it deep. It
- 4:29Speaker 1: is hot.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Touchdown.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Chamar Chase his second touchdown catch his second gritty touchdown
- 4:40Speaker 4: pass number three for Burrow. Have the Bengals pull within five,
- 4:45Speaker 4: they will go for two.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Two minutes and fifteen seconds left, Washington on top thirty
- 4:50Speaker 1: one twenty six third down and seven at the Bengals
- 4:54Speaker 1: twenty seven. McNichols in a running back Daniels catches the shotgun.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Snaw He's gonna float high in deep McLaurin in the
- 5:01Speaker 1: end zone. He's got the ball? Did he get both
- 5:04Speaker 1: deep down? They say it's a touchdown?
- 5:07Speaker 5: Unreal?
- 5:08Speaker 1: Unreal is right. The Bengals answered with a one yard
- 5:12Speaker 1: touchdown run by Zack Moss with forty seconds to go,
- 5:16Speaker 1: but couldn't pull off the onside kick and lost the
- 5:19Speaker 1: game thirty eight to thirty three. What can you say
- 5:22Speaker 1: about Washington's ricky quarterback Jaden Daniels. He was almost flawless,
- 5:26Speaker 1: completing twenty one of twenty three passes for two hundred
- 5:29Speaker 1: and fifty six yards and two touchdowns. He also ran
- 5:32Speaker 1: for thirty nine yards in another score. After three games,
- 5:36Speaker 1: Daniels is completing eighty percent of his passes, hasn't thrown
- 5:41Speaker 1: an interception, and has a passer rating of one to
- 5:44Speaker 1: eleven point eight. And oh yeah, he's on a pace
- 5:47Speaker 1: to rush for nearly one thousand yards. The last five
- 5:51Speaker 1: quarterbacks drafted in the first round by Washington were Dwayne
- 5:55Speaker 1: Haskins RG three, Jason Campbell, Patrick Ramsey, and Heath Shuler.
- 6:01Speaker 1: It's early, but it appears that the Commanders have finally
- 6:05Speaker 1: found their guy. Let's hear what head coach Zach Taylor
- 6:08Speaker 1: had to say as he spent a few minutes with
- 6:10Speaker 1: Dave Lapham after the game, Coach, I.
- 6:15Speaker 5: Don't think I've seen a game where the other team punted,
- 6:18Speaker 5: neither team turned it over. I mean it was offensively,
- 6:23Speaker 5: can't ask so much more than that.
- 6:25Speaker 6: Well, you can.
- 6:25Speaker 7: I mean, we didn't put enough points on the board,
- 6:27Speaker 7: and sometimes there's gonna be games where we get help
- 6:29Speaker 7: take the pressure off the other unit, and that's just
- 6:31Speaker 7: what one of these games was. And so this is
- 6:33Speaker 7: a collective effort. You know. We had our opportunities on
- 6:36Speaker 7: both sides of the ball to create an opportunity for
- 6:38Speaker 7: ourselves to give ourselves the lead and we just didn't
- 6:40Speaker 7: capitalize on that today.
- 6:41Speaker 8: So that's on everybody.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Red zone, they were three for three touchdowns, Bengals one
- 6:46Speaker 5: for three touchdowns in the red zone. In a game
- 6:48Speaker 5: like that, that's a big deal, right, Yeah, it's as
- 6:50Speaker 5: simple as that. You know.
- 6:50Speaker 7: We had one where he kind of got derailed on
- 6:53Speaker 7: a quick play. We thought maybe we'd fumbled the play before,
- 6:56Speaker 7: and then it screen didn't go away and set ourselves
- 6:58Speaker 7: back and didn't convert there. I think we missed the
- 7:00Speaker 7: field goal. And then another one we were just off
- 7:02Speaker 7: on a third down pass and had to kick it.
- 7:05Speaker 7: So you know, those points mattered in this game, and
- 7:08Speaker 7: unfortunately we came up short.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Joe Burrow throws for three hundred yards, three touchdowns, high
- 7:13Speaker 5: completion percentage, but I mean Daniels played even better, I
- 7:17Speaker 5: mean ninety one percent completion percentage and made plays when
- 7:21Speaker 5: he had to didn't he.
- 7:22Speaker 7: I thought both quarterbacks were attending today, you know, there
- 7:24Speaker 7: were there was some plays that that both those guys
- 7:27Speaker 7: really made to prove that there's some top quarterbacks in
- 7:30Speaker 7: the league.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Your running game got on track. Both both your tailbacks
- 7:34Speaker 5: I mean combined for over well over one hundred yards
- 7:38Speaker 5: on like less than twenty cares. I think it was
- 7:40Speaker 5: nineteen carries. I mean, you got some really good production
- 7:42Speaker 5: out of that run game today.
- 7:43Speaker 7: Yeah, you would like to give more opportunities, you know,
- 7:46Speaker 7: it's just I don't know how many possessions it was
- 7:48Speaker 7: six or seven. It's one of the fewest possion games
- 7:50Speaker 7: are going to have. And that's kind of what they
- 7:52Speaker 7: lead the league and fewest possessions, and we knew it
- 7:54Speaker 7: was gonna be that kind of game. Unfortunately, we didn't
- 7:57Speaker 7: give ourselves enough opportunities.
- 7:59Speaker 5: And then I guess you know that they had the
- 8:00Speaker 5: big one big kick return in the in the U
- 8:02Speaker 5: in special teams. I mean I thought special teams though
- 8:05Speaker 5: for the most part missfield Will obviously was big. So
- 8:08Speaker 5: I guess you know all three areas there was some
- 8:11Speaker 5: touch leading.
- 8:12Speaker 7: Yeah, they did enough. You got to give them a
- 8:14Speaker 7: lot of credit. They're good football team. They're well coach.
- 8:16Speaker 7: They competed hard, they got a lot of confidence, and
- 8:19Speaker 7: they made more plays than we did today in all
- 8:21Speaker 7: three phases.
- 8:22Speaker 5: Talking to you earlier in the week, I could tell
- 8:25Speaker 5: you thought that this football team, man, they got something.
- 8:28Speaker 5: I mean, they got a lot of players, they got
- 8:29Speaker 5: a lot of weapons. I mean it was it wasn't
- 8:32Speaker 5: like you know all you know coaches, he's just trying
- 8:34Speaker 5: to put something out. I could tell that you were
- 8:37Speaker 5: sincerely like, they got some players.
- 8:39Speaker 7: Yeah, they had seven possessions last week, seven field goals.
- 8:42Speaker 7: I saw where they missed their seven touchdowns. You know,
- 8:44Speaker 7: they had a bunch of penalties in the low red zone,
- 8:46Speaker 7: so you could see this is a dynamic offense. I
- 8:48Speaker 7: got a ton of respect for Cliff. He's been doing
- 8:50Speaker 7: this a long time. He's been calling plays for about
- 8:51Speaker 7: fifteen years and had some of the most prolific offenses
- 8:54Speaker 7: this country's ever seen, and so you pair him with
- 8:57Speaker 7: a quarterback like that, and and I knew that it
- 9:00Speaker 7: was a very dangerous offense, and we didn't do enough
- 9:02Speaker 7: to get him off the field and create more opportunities
- 9:04Speaker 7: for yourself.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Although you talked about last week, seven possessions, seven field
- 9:08Speaker 5: goals and then no punts tonight, Trustway punted three times
- 9:12Speaker 5: in the opener. He hasn't punted since. I mean, he's
- 9:14Speaker 5: gone two games without puting the football. That's crazy.
- 9:16Speaker 7: Give them all the credit. They have a lot of confidence.
- 9:18Speaker 7: They're making a lot of plays. That's on their coaching staff,
- 9:21Speaker 7: that's on their quarterback, they're all they're all doing what
- 9:22Speaker 7: they need to do to win.
- 9:24Speaker 5: Coach, appreciate you giving us your time as always. Yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 5: thanks sav It was.
- 9:29Speaker 1: The first NFL game since nineteen forty without a punt
- 9:33Speaker 1: or turnover. Unfortunately, it's hard to savor a great night
- 9:37Speaker 1: for the Bengals offense because of the outcome. Joe Burrow
- 9:41Speaker 1: completed seventy six percent of his passes for three hundred
- 9:45Speaker 1: and twenty four yards, with three touchdowns, no picks, and
- 9:48Speaker 1: a passer rating of one twenty seven point five, and
- 9:51Speaker 1: Jamar Chase had his first big game of the year
- 9:54Speaker 1: with six catches for one hundred and eighteen yards and
- 9:56Speaker 1: two touchdowns. Let's hear what Numero uno I had to
- 10:00Speaker 1: say after the game, Jamor is it almost a sense
- 10:05Speaker 1: of disbelief to be going three at this point? Uh?
- 10:10Speaker 9: It doesn't feel good, but I don't know, it happens.
- 10:14Speaker 9: We just gotta learn from them to move on and
- 10:16Speaker 9: get ready for the next week.
- 10:18Speaker 1: The offense obviously was cooking, but there's three possessions where
- 10:22Speaker 1: you settle for field goal tries. Unfortunately, in a game
- 10:24Speaker 1: like this that proved costly.
- 10:27Speaker 9: Yeah, we gotta we gotta go in in that rezone.
- 10:31Speaker 9: Some we gotta capitalize on this.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Chair.
- 10:33Speaker 6: What about your performance?
- 10:34Speaker 1: One hundred plus yards, two touchdown catches, how'd you feel
- 10:37Speaker 1: about it?
- 10:38Speaker 10: Uh?
- 10:38Speaker 9: It was a good overall game, but you know, I'm
- 10:40Speaker 9: of a team effort, so I've been good to have
- 10:43Speaker 9: win with that.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Where do you go from here?
- 10:49Speaker 9: Come back to work, watch the film corrections, and you know,
- 10:54Speaker 9: we gotta move on. But we can't have games like
- 10:57Speaker 9: this one. We gotta we gotta win games like this
- 10:59Speaker 9: one so we can move on.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Is there a sense of despiration, Jamar at this point,
- 11:03Speaker 5: even though it's three games in.
- 11:06Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 11:06Speaker 9: I never been hid, bro I never I never felt
- 11:09Speaker 9: this before. So I was the first time for everything.
- 11:13Speaker 9: But you gotta be on one team, you know what
- 11:14Speaker 9: I'm saying. Stayed together, stay as a unit. So don't
- 11:17Speaker 9: know where we're gonna win.
- 11:19Speaker 6: How good was it to have tea back out there?
- 11:21Speaker 6: Looked like it certainly benefited.
- 11:22Speaker 5: You a little bit too.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Uh.
- 11:24Speaker 9: Yeah, it was great heaving tea out there. Man, it
- 11:26Speaker 9: was like old times again, just having fun.
- 11:28Speaker 1: You know. Jaden Daniels was extremely impressive. I don't know
- 11:32Speaker 1: how closely he could watch his performance, but yeah, uh,
- 11:35Speaker 1: one of the more incredible rookie quarterback performances I think
- 11:38Speaker 1: many of us have seed. What't you think?
- 11:40Speaker 9: He's a great thing player, not gonna lie. That was
- 11:44Speaker 9: my first time sitting down and watching him besides the
- 11:48Speaker 9: spring game. So uh, he's a very outstanding player.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But no matter what the Bengals tried to do on defense,
- 11:55Speaker 1: they simply couldn't get Daniels in the Washington offense. Off
- 11:58Speaker 1: the field, it's two straight weeks for the Commanders with
- 12:02Speaker 1: no punts and no turnovers. I discussed a tough night
- 12:06Speaker 1: for the Bengals defense with linebacker Jermaine Pratt. Jermaine, that
- 12:11Speaker 1: was a very impressive performance by a rookie quarterback, one
- 12:15Speaker 1: of the best. I've seen. Your thoughts on Jaden Daniels tonight.
- 12:19Speaker 8: I mean I would say like he processed things, he
- 12:22Speaker 8: do stuff well. I think he will all the way around,
- 12:25Speaker 8: and then he's sposively using his legs.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it seemed like there were a few instances where
- 12:30Speaker 1: when you had a chance to possibly get him down,
- 12:32Speaker 1: he just made a little bit of a juke, got
- 12:34Speaker 1: a few extra yards and kept the chains going.
- 12:37Speaker 8: Yeah, I missed the biggest player of the game. I say, well,
- 12:42Speaker 8: I believe it was fut down. Whatever. I would contain
- 12:45Speaker 8: him and said, I'll let him complete the past move
- 12:48Speaker 8: starting right there.
- 12:50Speaker 1: What can you say about the defense? I know it's
- 12:53Speaker 1: you know, it's moments after a very difficult game and
- 12:56Speaker 1: you're frustrated and disappointed. But nobody could have possibly seen
- 13:00Speaker 1: this coming. What do you think happened?
- 13:02Speaker 8: We didn't play great. I didn't play great. So if
- 13:06Speaker 8: I don't play well, I think the defense, hey don't
- 13:10Speaker 8: play that much? Then will if I don't bring the energy.
- 13:15Speaker 1: The atmosphere was electric in recent years. You guys have
- 13:19Speaker 1: risen to the occasion on those primetime games. How disappointing
- 13:23Speaker 1: is it to not get the job done tonight?
- 13:26Speaker 8: Every loss is disappointing.
- 13:28Speaker 6: Piece.
- 13:28Speaker 8: Obviously, we don't play the game to lose, but we
- 13:30Speaker 8: got to find a way to get in the win.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Tall them.
- 13:33Speaker 8: Yeah, I get our minds right and go find a
- 13:35Speaker 8: way to win.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Next for the Bengals a road game in Carolina against
- 13:40Speaker 1: Andy Dalton and the Panthers. The Red Rifle took over
- 13:44Speaker 1: for a struggling Bryce Young on Sunday and promptly threw
- 13:47Speaker 1: for three hundred and nineteen yards with three touchdowns and
- 13:50Speaker 1: a passer rating of one twenty three point six as
- 13:53Speaker 1: the Panthers shocked the Raiders thirty six to twenty two.
- 13:58Speaker 1: That Carolina game looks a lot tougher than it did
- 14:02Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago. The Bengals Booth Podcast is

- 14:20Speaker 1: healthcare provider of the Bengals. Now time for the radio guys,
- 14:25Speaker 1: recapp Jaden Daniels is going to be the toast of
- 14:30Speaker 1: the NFL for the next several days after what was
- 14:33Speaker 1: truly one of the most remarkable rookie quarterback performances in
- 14:36Speaker 1: league history. Twenty one for twenty three, two hundred and
- 14:39Speaker 1: fifty four yards, two touchdown passes, one touchdown run. I'm buying.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I mean, the kid is incredible.
- 14:47Speaker 5: I'm telling you he should go kiss Cliff kingsbre Rit
- 14:52Speaker 5: in the mouth because Cliff Kingsbury is doing everything that
- 14:57Speaker 5: Jaden Daniels can do and do well. Is not complicated,
- 15:02Speaker 5: but he knows when to call things, how to call things,
- 15:07Speaker 5: how to formation it make it look different, but it's
- 15:10Speaker 5: the same. Cliff Kingsbury is a brilliant offensive mind and
- 15:15Speaker 5: he showed it at the collegiate level. And I had
- 15:17Speaker 5: a healthy dose of respect to that guy when he
- 15:19Speaker 5: was at Texas Town. I was like, man, this guy's
- 15:22Speaker 5: you know. I mean, all these quarterbacks have some talent,
- 15:24Speaker 5: but my gosh, man, the numbers they're putting up is
- 15:27Speaker 5: it's sick. He's got himself a gem to work with,
- 15:31Speaker 5: and he's doing everything to put Daniels in a good
- 15:35Speaker 5: position to succeed. And the kid has got talent. I mean,
- 15:39Speaker 5: you complete over ninety percent a rookie record single game.
- 15:46Speaker 5: But nothing, nothing was so sophisticated, you know, trying to
- 15:51Speaker 5: be too clever. It's like, here's a few things I
- 15:55Speaker 5: want you to do. It's simple stuff. It's it's a
- 15:58Speaker 5: zone read stuff, stuff run pass option. It's like was
- 16:04Speaker 5: said during the course of the week, Taylor britt College,
- 16:09Speaker 5: look damn good tonight at college offense put on a
- 16:12Speaker 5: clinic out there. Dan. I don't think I've ever seen
- 16:16Speaker 5: and I don't know, maybe it's happened in high school.
- 16:18Speaker 5: Neither team punt, neither team turned.
- 16:20Speaker 6: The football over.
- 16:22Speaker 5: That was That was a weird game. And then when
- 16:24Speaker 5: you're in situations like that, obviously every possession you got
- 16:27Speaker 5: to maximize with points. Bengals go one for three in
- 16:30Speaker 5: the red zone, Washington goes three for three. Big reason
- 16:33Speaker 5: why the game went the way it went.
- 16:35Speaker 1: The Bengals gave up sixteen points in Week one, Kansas
- 16:38Speaker 1: City only scored nineteen on offense last week, and they really,
- 16:42Speaker 1: for all intents and purposes, shut down Patrick Mahomes. What
- 16:46Speaker 1: was like egregious tonight? What were some of the biggest
- 16:50Speaker 1: mistakes do you think that they made defensively in this game?
- 16:53Speaker 5: That's good? I mean, honestly, it was like, okay, who
- 16:57Speaker 5: has the quarterback on the zone? Reas who has the back? Okay? Well,
- 17:02Speaker 5: the defensive ends crashed for the back. Who's got the quarterback?
- 17:05Speaker 5: And the quarterback would get out there in the perimeter.
- 17:07Speaker 5: And I mean, if he's just that athletic where he's
- 17:09Speaker 5: making everybody miss. I mean some of the times I
- 17:13Speaker 5: didn't see the quarterback being challenged, the positive yards have
- 17:16Speaker 5: been picked up, you know, I just I don't know.
- 17:20Speaker 5: It was not it was not difficult stuff. But he
- 17:22Speaker 5: is a unique talent. But I said during the game,
- 17:25Speaker 5: and I still think it, at some point some defense
- 17:28Speaker 5: is going to light him up more than once in
- 17:30Speaker 5: a football game, put legal, big hits on him, and
- 17:34Speaker 5: you know, you'd hate to see that happen where you
- 17:37Speaker 5: know it results in an injury because he's not I
- 17:40Speaker 5: guess he's a running back. I mean, the guy has
- 17:42Speaker 5: the talent of a running back and he seems to
- 17:44Speaker 5: always make the hits flush, not flush hits. His glancing hits.
- 17:48Speaker 5: But at some point he might catch a flush one
- 17:51Speaker 5: and it's going to be a horse of a different colors.
- 17:54Speaker 5: So I mean, I never saw him slide tonight. He
- 17:57Speaker 5: doesn't slide. It's like this guy. I mean, he turns
- 18:02Speaker 5: it up. He turns it up the football field and
- 18:04Speaker 5: he's gonna get everyth you can. Now, you will dance
- 18:05Speaker 5: out of bounds when he feels it's appropriate. But man,
- 18:09Speaker 5: when he's on the football field, in the middle of
- 18:11Speaker 5: the football field, between the hashmarks, between the numbers, he's
- 18:14Speaker 5: going up the football field. Man, he's trying to maximize.
- 18:18Speaker 1: The Bengals had t Higgins back tonight, the result thirty
- 18:20Speaker 1: three points, three touchdown passes for Burrow. Chase had you know,
- 18:24Speaker 1: less attention on him, wound up having a huge night.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I guess if you're looking for a positive, that's the
- 18:29Speaker 1: biggest one.
- 18:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree. And the other positive is twelve carries
- 18:34Speaker 5: for fifty eight yards for Moss, seven for sixty two
- 18:37Speaker 5: for Brown. So you got nineteen carries for one hundred
- 18:42Speaker 5: and twenty yards. Not bad. I mean, you're talking about
- 18:45Speaker 5: getting the running game going a little bit and I
- 18:48Speaker 5: think that helped Joe and Chase and Higgins and others.
- 18:53Speaker 5: You know, there were areas between linebacker and safety that
- 18:57Speaker 5: they took advantage of in the middle of the football
- 18:58Speaker 5: field because the game had some had some teeth to it.
- 19:02Speaker 5: So you know, I think that that that uh, that's
- 19:06Speaker 5: positive as well. I mean, Joe Burrow over three hundred yards,
- 19:10Speaker 5: three touchdown passes and complete a high percentage and he's
- 19:13Speaker 5: like second best quarterback out there on the football field.
- 19:16Speaker 5: These two LSU Heisman Trophy winners, I mean, did they
- 19:19Speaker 5: deliver or what? On national TV? And a matchup, second
- 19:23Speaker 5: matchup ever between Heisman Trophy winners from the same school.
- 19:28Speaker 5: Can't ask for much more than what those guys put
- 19:30Speaker 5: out there.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Trey Hendrickson had a sack tonight. It's the only one
- 19:34Speaker 1: the Bengals had, and really through three weeks now, he's
- 19:37Speaker 1: the only guy getting any sort of consistent pressure on quarterbacks.
- 19:42Speaker 5: I agree, you know, he's there's gonna have to be
- 19:45Speaker 5: somebody that he must feel like, you know, a lonesome
- 19:49Speaker 5: soldier out there. It's hard to you know, if you're
- 19:54Speaker 5: the guy, first guy to pressure the quarterback, it's hard
- 19:56Speaker 5: to pressure and finalize. You know, it's it's a there
- 19:59Speaker 5: has to be be somebody that is winning in their
- 20:02Speaker 5: rush lane integrity, and it doesn't seem to be working
- 20:05Speaker 5: out that way. I thought he had immense protection tonight,
- 20:09Speaker 5: and they ran the ball well, so their play action stuff,
- 20:11Speaker 5: and that's tough. I mean, I know when we had
- 20:14Speaker 5: our running game going and they would call play action pass,
- 20:17Speaker 5: I mean we'd look at each other and start grinning
- 20:19Speaker 5: like yeah, I mean, because they have to honor it.
- 20:21Speaker 5: You know, they can't just kee off, So that gives
- 20:24Speaker 5: you a great chance. I mean, you can be the
- 20:26Speaker 5: aggressor and then separate and now go into pass protection mode.
- 20:30Speaker 5: And it's like, man, I mean, the pocket's already bigger,
- 20:34Speaker 5: the pockets already deeper, and you can if you can
- 20:37Speaker 5: just you know, finish and hang on, you're gonna give
- 20:40Speaker 5: your quarterback an eternity to throw the football. And some
- 20:43Speaker 5: of the times it looked like that's exactly what he had.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I think the overwhelming emotion after this game is disbelief.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I just can't quite put a finger on why this
- 20:54Speaker 1: team has gotten out of the gate this way this
- 20:58Speaker 1: year against that schedule.
- 20:59Speaker 5: I agree, you know, the two d's disappointment and disbelief, disbelief,
- 21:05Speaker 5: and it's like something's wrong. What is it? What is
- 21:09Speaker 5: it that is wrong? Maybe it's more than one thing,
- 21:10Speaker 5: you know, maybe it's a myriad of things that are wrong,
- 21:13Speaker 5: and it just has to be wrong by just a
- 21:15Speaker 5: little bit, you know. I mean, all you can do
- 21:19Speaker 5: is is go back to work and try to keep
- 21:22Speaker 5: getting better. And you know, I've been in games where,
- 21:27Speaker 5: you know, in seasons where the defense has to pick
- 21:31Speaker 5: up the offense, the offense has to pick up the defense.
- 21:34Speaker 5: That's just the way it is. That's life in the
- 21:35Speaker 5: National Football League. So obviously the defense was having a
- 21:39Speaker 5: hell of a time trying to make stops and get
- 21:43Speaker 5: things done. But man, to be in a situation like that,
- 21:49Speaker 5: you have to I mean, the commanders took command. You
- 21:53Speaker 5: got to give them credit. They go on the road
- 21:55Speaker 5: on Ring of Honor night, crowds up in the bit
- 22:00Speaker 5: silence them. Bengal's go up seven nothing, that's the only
- 22:02Speaker 5: lead they had. I mean, next thing, you know, you're
- 22:06Speaker 5: down two plus scores in some instances. You know, I
- 22:10Speaker 5: just you got to you gotta really tip your cap
- 22:13Speaker 5: to the to the commanders for how they played the game.
- 22:17Speaker 5: And uh once. Once they got control, I thought, man,
- 22:20Speaker 5: go down the field and at first drive and score.
- 22:23Speaker 5: I mean, this is what Tampa Bay did, you know,
- 22:24Speaker 5: And go down and score again. Take command, take early
- 22:26Speaker 5: command of the football game. Commanders said, not gonna happen again.
- 22:33Speaker 5: We learned our lesson. We're gonna come right down the
- 22:35Speaker 5: field and score, and then we're gonna we're gonna take
- 22:38Speaker 5: control and command of the football game. And you got
- 22:40Speaker 5: to tip your cap to them. They really did.
- 22:42Speaker 1: They haven't punted in two games. Subtract three one play
- 22:47Speaker 1: kneel downs to run out clock, and they've scored on
- 22:50Speaker 1: fourteen consecutive drives against Tampa Bay, the Giants, and the Bengals.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Fourteen consecutive drives.
- 22:58Speaker 5: That's high school stuff. I mean, like I said, I
- 23:01Speaker 5: don't maybe in high school there might have been a
- 23:03Speaker 5: game where neither team punted, neither team turned it over.
- 23:07Speaker 5: I'm sure there is, and I guess probably in college
- 23:09Speaker 5: would happened. You know, I just can't remember games like that.
- 23:12Speaker 5: I can't remember being in games like that. Trest Way,
- 23:16Speaker 5: he's stealing. Man punted three times in the open.
- 23:18Speaker 1: He hasn't very busy as a whole.
- 23:20Speaker 5: He is he has. He's worked his hands, but he
- 23:23Speaker 5: hasn't worked his leg and feet. Man, It's that's incredible.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Three punts and three football games. That's gonna win you
- 23:33Speaker 5: a lot of games right there.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Well, bring on Andy Dalton in the Panthers. Try to
- 23:38Speaker 1: get off the schneider and get that first win.
- 23:40Speaker 5: Yeah, gona go down to Carolina line up and uh
- 23:45Speaker 5: go against Big Red and Boyd. He lighted up. I
- 23:50Speaker 5: mean he threw for over three hundred yards and three
- 23:52Speaker 5: touchdowns himself. I mean he and Joe Burrow they are
- 23:56Speaker 5: on the same wavelength this weekend. So it could be
- 23:58Speaker 5: another duel. It could be another game where, man, if
- 24:01Speaker 5: you don't score in the regil, if you have to
- 24:03Speaker 5: settle for a field goal, you might be in trouble.
- 24:06Speaker 5: I mean it could be another shootout, man who knows,
- 24:09Speaker 5: or probably in a ten to seven or something.
- 24:13Speaker 1: That would be appropriate.
- 24:16Speaker 5: It really would. I mean, that's football, and that's why
- 24:20Speaker 5: everybody loves it. It is crazy. Just when you think
- 24:23Speaker 5: you might have it figured out, you're nowhere close to
- 24:25Speaker 5: figuring it out.
- 24:27Speaker 1: We'll try to figure some things out at the Bengals
- 24:30Speaker 1: Game Plan show on Wednesday night. If you live in
- 24:32Speaker 1: the Cincinnati area. We'll be at Patrick's Sports Bar on
- 24:35Speaker 1: Crookshank Road from six to eight, or you can always
- 24:39Speaker 1: listen on ESPN fifteen thirty or search for ESPN fifteen
- 24:43Speaker 1: thirty on the free iHeartMedia app. Now, time for this
- 24:48Speaker 1: week's fun Fact segment, where you get to know the
- 24:50Speaker 1: person under the pads. Time for some fun facts at
- 24:55Speaker 1: running back Zach Moss from High Lee Gardens, Florida, near Miami.
- 24:58Speaker 1: What were some of your favorite things about growing up there?
- 25:02Speaker 6: Uh, just being outside every day.
- 25:04Speaker 10: Miami is like the perfect place for great weather usually
- 25:06Speaker 10: around all year round, So just being outside, you know,
- 25:10Speaker 10: playing sports with my friends and cousins and things like that.
- 25:12Speaker 10: Have a big family, So just remember all those days
- 25:15Speaker 10: just being outside, playing the streets.
- 25:16Speaker 6: Right the part.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I'm glad you mentioned your cousins because you have two
- 25:20Speaker 1: older cousins who had long careers as NFL wide receivers,
- 25:23Speaker 1: Santana Moss, who was a pro bowler and Sonorius Moss,
- 25:26Speaker 1: who won a Super Bowl Ring. Did having family members
- 25:29Speaker 1: in the NFL make that dream seem more attainable to you?
- 25:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I think definitely. You know.
- 25:36Speaker 10: On top of that, I think also just being in Miami.
- 25:38Speaker 10: You know, we have a very very rich talent of
- 25:41Speaker 10: pro players either basketball or football, So you know that
- 25:46Speaker 10: always was in the back of our minds just playing
- 25:48Speaker 10: seeing guys that are from our neighborhoods go off and
- 25:51Speaker 10: do a lot of good things. So you know, it
- 25:52Speaker 10: made it real easy to think that could be us
- 25:55Speaker 10: as well. And you know, God took the rest of it.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Being from that state. There are a lot of great
- 26:02Speaker 1: college football programs around, but you chose to go more
- 26:05Speaker 1: than two thousand miles from home and went to Utah.
- 26:08Speaker 10: Why Originally I was committed to the University of Miami
- 26:12Speaker 10: at first, and then I ended up decommitted from there
- 26:16Speaker 10: and chose Utah.
- 26:17Speaker 6: I think mainly because two reasons.
- 26:20Speaker 10: Coach Dennis Erison, who was a University of Miami head
- 26:23Speaker 10: coach back in the day who won as a championship
- 26:24Speaker 10: there was the runner back coach at Utah, so kind
- 26:27Speaker 10: of swayed me pretty easily being able to play for
- 26:31Speaker 10: a legend like that. And then two of my teammates
- 26:34Speaker 10: that I played with in high school and that I
- 26:36Speaker 10: knew for a while as well as friends growing up
- 26:38Speaker 10: in Miami, Tyler Huntley and Damari Simpkins. They both ended
- 26:43Speaker 10: up committed early and enrolling early into Utah and always
- 26:48Speaker 10: just told me about it and kind of could see
- 26:50Speaker 10: me fitting in there. So you know, for me, it
- 26:53Speaker 10: didn't really matter where I was, how far I was.
- 26:56Speaker 10: I just wanted to go somewhere and play early, and
- 26:58Speaker 10: you know, Utah gave me a great chance to do.
- 27:00Speaker 1: At your high school and college teammate, Tyler Huntley played
- 27:03Speaker 1: a significant role in Bengals history. It was his fumble
- 27:06Speaker 1: in the playoff game against Baltimore that Sam Hubbard scooped
- 27:09Speaker 1: up and ran back ninety eight yards for the game
- 27:11Speaker 1: winning score, The so called fumble in the jungle, As
- 27:14Speaker 1: his longtime friend, did that one break your heart?
- 27:19Speaker 10: That was crazy, definitely, I think because it was on
- 27:22Speaker 10: the one yard line and had a chance to score.
- 27:24Speaker 10: I don't remember what what the score was, but I
- 27:27Speaker 10: knew I think it would have went up.
- 27:29Speaker 6: So you know, that was rough to see him go
- 27:31Speaker 6: through that.
- 27:32Speaker 10: But now, being a Bengals fan, you know you I
- 27:35Speaker 10: see the highlight a few times already, so it's pretty cool.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I read that on your recruiting visit to Utah, they
- 27:41Speaker 1: took you snowmobiling. Had you ever even seen snow.
- 27:45Speaker 10: Now, I've never seen snow. That was second time ever
- 27:48Speaker 10: traveling out of the state of Florida. So that was
- 27:52Speaker 10: a super super culture shock, mountain, snow, elevation, the whole nine.
- 27:56Speaker 10: Just a totally different way of life from growing up Miami.
- 27:59Speaker 1: For sure, visiting the Zach Moss. You had a tremendous
- 28:02Speaker 1: career at Utah. You're still the schools all time, leading
- 28:04Speaker 1: Russier by a wide margin. What did you enjoy most
- 28:07Speaker 1: about your four years there?
- 28:09Speaker 6: It was it was a lot of, you know, great things.
- 28:12Speaker 10: I think the main thing was being able to go
- 28:14Speaker 10: somewhere and mature by myself.
- 28:16Speaker 6: You know.
- 28:16Speaker 10: Obviously, I think if I would have stayed in miamifs so,
- 28:18Speaker 10: I would have had a lot of people there with
- 28:20Speaker 10: me to kind of fall back on through hard times
- 28:23Speaker 10: or whatever. I had two surgeries while I was out there,
- 28:27Speaker 10: So being able to go through that and grow up
- 28:29Speaker 10: and kind of go through life immature, like I said,
- 28:32Speaker 10: by myself made me, you know, definitely who I am
- 28:35Speaker 10: today played a big part of that. And also meeting
- 28:38Speaker 10: my wife out there was huge. Obviously, that's my whole
- 28:43Speaker 10: entire life. Now I gotta sign and everything, like that, so,
- 28:45Speaker 10: you know, that was the biggest decision of my life.
- 28:49Speaker 1: After your great college career, you were drafted in the
- 28:51Speaker 1: third round by the Buffalo Bills, number eighty six overall.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Describe your draft experience it was.
- 28:57Speaker 10: It was definitely an awkward one, I think mainly because
- 29:00Speaker 10: it was COVID that year, so didn't have a chance
- 29:03Speaker 10: to go back home be around family and loved ones
- 29:07Speaker 10: and things like that and kind of share that moment
- 29:09Speaker 10: with everybody as well. So, you know, I had to
- 29:11Speaker 10: do it in LA with my agents, my wife, and
- 29:15Speaker 10: my brothers and sisters and my mom, which was you know,
- 29:18Speaker 10: that's the core of my family right there. So it
- 29:22Speaker 10: was still cool in that experience, but you know, definitely
- 29:24Speaker 10: missed out on that part of things, something I was always,
- 29:27Speaker 10: i think in the back of my mind thinking about
- 29:29Speaker 10: that I'll be able to do one day.
- 29:31Speaker 1: You joined a Buffalo team that was really good. You
- 29:33Speaker 1: made it to the AFC Championship Game as a rookie,
- 29:36Speaker 1: and then in year two, Buffalo had the painful loss
- 29:39Speaker 1: to Kansas City in the playoffs where you took the
- 29:42Speaker 1: lead with thirteen seconds to go, kicked off and wound
- 29:45Speaker 1: up losing that game. In ot how long does a
- 29:47Speaker 1: game like that stick with you.
- 29:50Speaker 6: That was a rough game.
- 29:51Speaker 10: It's definitely something that you really can't describe unless you
- 29:55Speaker 10: were there. The atmosphere was crazy. We ended up coming out,
- 30:00Speaker 10: obviously on the loser end of it, but definitely just
- 30:03Speaker 10: a great sports experience. And you know you're in history,
- 30:06Speaker 10: but you know, definitely on the wrong side of it.
- 30:08Speaker 10: But at the end of the day, still the history.
- 30:09Speaker 10: So anytime you get to create history, no matter what happens,
- 30:13Speaker 10: I think, win or loss, you know you learn something
- 30:16Speaker 10: from it.
- 30:18Speaker 1: The following year, about two months into the season, you
- 30:20Speaker 1: got traded to Indianapolis. You've built bonds with teammates, you're
- 30:24Speaker 1: comfortable in Buffalo, and then suddenly you're playing for a
- 30:27Speaker 1: different team a week later. How challenging is that?
- 30:31Speaker 6: It was definitely challenging to some degree.
- 30:33Speaker 10: You can't really dwell on it too much when you're
- 30:35Speaker 10: in season, when things are still moving and stuff like that.
- 30:38Speaker 10: But you know, it was something I always knew what
- 30:40Speaker 10: was going to happen. Essentially that some degree it just
- 30:42Speaker 10: didn't work out my time in Buffalo, But you know,
- 30:47Speaker 10: I had a lot of people do a lot of
- 30:48Speaker 10: good things. My wife mainly was super supportive during that time,
- 30:52Speaker 10: being able to you know, transition our homes from Buffalo
- 30:56Speaker 10: to Indie, you know, well also allowing me to just
- 30:58Speaker 10: go ahead and continue to focus on foot which was big.
- 31:00Speaker 10: And you know, all the people in Indie with the
- 31:02Speaker 10: staff that helped her with that as well, was great.
- 31:06Speaker 6: But you know, it was this business you never really
- 31:08Speaker 6: played for.
- 31:08Speaker 10: I don't know too many people who played for one
- 31:10Speaker 10: team in their life, no matter how it happens, cut
- 31:13Speaker 10: trade or just scignce somewhere else whatever. So knew it
- 31:16Speaker 10: was part of business. And you know, I got grateful
- 31:18Speaker 10: for my time in Buffalo and uh, definitely grateful for
- 31:21Speaker 10: the time.
- 31:21Speaker 6: And I had an Indian as well.
- 31:23Speaker 1: You joined the Bengals this year as a free agent.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Did you enjoy the free agency process because in the
- 31:28Speaker 1: draft you have no choice?
- 31:31Speaker 6: Uh, yeah, I think it was. It was a very
- 31:34Speaker 6: very good experience.
- 31:35Speaker 10: Obviously, my first time ever doing that, so you know,
- 31:37Speaker 10: didn't really know what to expect, didn't really know.
- 31:39Speaker 6: How things were going to shake out and things like that.
- 31:41Speaker 10: Just had to put a lot of my trust and
- 31:44Speaker 10: my agents to you know, make sure you know, they
- 31:47Speaker 10: were doing whatever they need to do. On that side
- 31:48Speaker 10: of it and have my inputs when I needed to.
- 31:50Speaker 10: But I think my faith allowed me to just be
- 31:53Speaker 10: able to relax and be cool throughout it all and
- 31:56Speaker 10: just enjoy that time that I had you off season
- 31:58Speaker 10: with my son and my wife in our home and
- 32:01Speaker 10: just you know, be able to get ready for a
- 32:02Speaker 10: new season somewhere.
- 32:04Speaker 1: All Right, a few wild card topics now for Zach Moss.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Who is your all time favorite athlete in any sport?
- 32:12Speaker 6: Easy? Kobe Bryant for sure.
- 32:15Speaker 10: I think just obviously everybody knows his mentality that he
- 32:17Speaker 10: attacked every day with the way he chose to go
- 32:20Speaker 10: about his life and things like that. I think for
- 32:22Speaker 10: me as a kid, it was kind of quiet. Definitely
- 32:26Speaker 10: as a kid, so Kobe was kind of a loner
- 32:28Speaker 10: to some degree, so I just gravitated towards how he
- 32:31Speaker 10: did things and you know, went about his work.
- 32:34Speaker 1: What do you like to splur John Shoes.
- 32:37Speaker 10: Big shoe guy. I've been collecting shoes ever since seventh grade.
- 32:42Speaker 10: So anytime I get a chance to buy a shoe
- 32:45Speaker 10: or get a shoe that was unable to get when
- 32:47Speaker 10: I was younger or in college, you know, I definitely
- 32:50Speaker 10: try to add that to my collection for sure.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Do you have any unusual talents?
- 32:55Speaker 10: Unusual talents? No, this is my only real talent. People
- 33:00Speaker 10: always always do something and people ask that question and
- 33:03Speaker 10: I'm like, dang, I have nothing, but no, not really.
- 33:07Speaker 10: I just this is my real one talent, and I
- 33:10Speaker 10: just tried to be as well round as I can
- 33:12Speaker 10: in area other aspect.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Final question for Zach Moss. This one's kind of deep.
- 33:17Speaker 1: If you could meet anybody in history, living or deceased,
- 33:21Speaker 1: who would that person be.
- 33:24Speaker 10: I think being able to meet my mom's dad would
- 33:26Speaker 10: have been pretty cool.
- 33:28Speaker 6: Obviously.
- 33:29Speaker 10: I think people go with a lot of celebrities and
- 33:31Speaker 10: stuff like that, and I think for me, not being
