- 0:00SPEAKER_01: I'm Jackie.
- 0:01SPEAKER_01: I'm Kid.
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: And this is WTF.
- 0:05SPEAKER_02: Grab your coffee, wine, water bottle, emotional support snack, no judgment.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: And let's get into it.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Hi, welcome back.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Uh, thank you for joining us on WTF Women Talk Finance.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: We are super excited about this episode today.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: It's the episode we've been promising, I think.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: Or we've we've at least previewed it once.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I don't know if we promised it.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: It's the episode you've been waiting for, but you didn't even know you were waiting for it.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: You didn't know.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: You didn't know.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: Also, let me put my finger down because I definitely just did you just finger down.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: I did, yes.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: I'm putting in my finger away.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Okay, we are talking about whether AI knows you better than your best friend.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: There's been so much buzz about AI and be more productive and do more, and it knows all the things and be careful because it's coming for you.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: The robots are coming, like agentic this, agentic that.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, but does AI know you better than your best friend?
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Can this so okay?
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: You and I talked about this, and there's so many things right now of like asking your AI to tell you about yourself, right?
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Use it as a therapist, yes.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and that kind of freaks me out a little bit, right?
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Um I use it occasionally for different, and I it is, it can it can be a good, it can be a good hype hype bot.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: It'll it'll hype me up.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: Um but does it know you better?
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: And I think it almost says like, how are you using your AI?
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: I think it almost comes down to like user.
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: So you told me you asked your AI something.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: Are you gonna do it?
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Well, and I want to before I preview, yes, before I preview what I asked it, because I was, I was just gonna kind of test it a little bit for this segment.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: But before I say that, I want to say it is so competent.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: And I use it all the time, like especially in work, to get off zero, if that makes sense.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Like rather than me opening up a Word document and being like, let's type from scratch an agreement.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: I can pop things into AI and I can have it generate like a version one template or something, and it knows stuff.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: It is smart, it knows everything that I've taught it and trained it on so far.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: It's gonna grab info from that and from like the the the the the ether, all the webs, all the webs everywhere across all space-time continuum.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: It's gonna grab everything.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: So it is very smart.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: But here's what I asked it.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: I said, Hi chat.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: This is Claude, actually the days.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: I was like, tell me whose heart I've broken, and tell me who's broken my heart.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: And it came back and it said, I don't know those things.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Are you testing me?
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Am I supposed to know?
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: Like you haven't told me those things.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Because you don't know me.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: Because you don't know me.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: And I got what I've told you.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Because I was like, I know.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: Candace knew.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: And I will say I've known for a long time because you and I have built human connection and have had those deep, vulnerable conversations even earlier in my friendships.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: It's not like I was around during those times, right?
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: Just naturally we've connected on those things.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: It's because we've had human connection over those other conversations, and I thought that is that's pretty interesting, right?
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: Because I think there AI hasn't been around all that long.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: Had AI been around for 20 years, would it know because you had been, you maybe would have used it as you were going through those things.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Well, let's go through.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Um, have you used your AI for anything relative to your house, designing your gardens, things like that?
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: You know I have.
- 4:26SPEAKER_04: Okay, I know, but it's it's it was such a gimme.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: Um because yes.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: I sent you the pictures of it.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they were so good.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: So if you were to ask it, um I'd like to do a room where I can garden in my house, and you didn't have your solarium yet.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: Hey AI, give me some design ideas that fit my style, my preferences.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: You know, how close do you think AI could get?
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: So I do know this because we did this, right?
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: And um AI knows my style pretty well because I really didn't have to do too much, which is a little scary, right?
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: There's there's a gazillion options it could have chosen for different different design elements for my yard.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Um, but here is I asked AI to design or to to describe my design style.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: And this is what it is.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: Collected romantic traditional with an earthy, slightly old world edge.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: That's probably better than I could have done.
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: I actually was pretty surprised because I kinda I mean it kind of makes sense.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: I would have used maybe different, I would have called your style modern or like contemporary, cozy um family with some like edgy fun.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: But how do you feel about it?
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: Like when it gave you that, are you like, you know me?
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: I was pretty surprised.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: I was like, wow, okay.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: Like, I mean, I've got this picture of like a weird child.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: That's not gothic renaissance, are you sure?
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't think it's like, yeah, when I have like old weird eclectic things.
- 6:45SPEAKER_03: It's I I'm like, yeah, okay, I get I can see where I came up with that.
- 6:50SPEAKER_03: It wasn't how I would have defined it.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: But I think it's actually pretty close.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: I thought that was really interesting.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: I I don't think yet AI knows you better than your best friend.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: I really don't.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: But I think you can train it and build it up to know you well enough to give um to give meaningful advice, especially if you're using it.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Like I said, we opened this talking about it being a therapist.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: If you tell your AI, for example, what your Myers Briggs is, you know, tell it some situations that really stress you out or really get under your skin.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Tell it some of your preferences and say, hang on to this, because I'm gonna come to you with situations that are really I'm not I'm struggling with, I'm not sure how to deal with this situation or that.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: I think it'll come with some pretty decent advice, taking into account your preferences and of how you're built and wired.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: But I I haven't used it that way yet myself.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: And maybe, I don't know, maybe we uh maybe we should practice.
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: But I'm also curious if this is a generational thing.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: So 72% of US teens teens have used AI companions, 52% at least a few times a month.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: Um and then it was saying that uh there's there's teens are reporting that they find conversations with AI as satisfying as a real friend.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: So wait, when we're using the word the term AI companion, are we talking about like Claude, chat GPT, manus?
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: What what what counts as an AI companion or just a chat bot, different apps that are like serving as chat bots?
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: I don't know, but I'm I'm curious if you know, I think we still are at a place of skepticism with AI.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: We're using it, we like it, it solves problems for us, it does things faster for us.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: I'm not using chat as a companion, I'm using it as a tool.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: If we are seeing a younger generation using AI as this companionship and actually seeking real connection and friendship from this, at what point in five, 10, 15 years does that AI companion know this person better than somebody, than a human, than their parent?
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like if they're using their parents, their diary.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Like I think of how kids I don't know, do kids journal anymore?
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: Do kids diary?
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Um I I hate saying I have no idea, but I have no idea.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: My kids I need to be more in touch with the youth.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: The youth.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: We should hit the streets and start interviewing the youth.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: They're not on the streets, they're not, they're not there, they're not even there.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: I was gonna say we need to hit chat rooms, but that's wrong.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: Don't do that.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: I'm pretty sure I was hitting chat rooms when the internet first came out, and do not do that.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Don't do that.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Um, malls are coming back.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: I can say that.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: Malls are really malls are back, baby.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: I am so happy about it.
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: It's is this gonna just turn into a whole episode on like how cringe we are?
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: And I know you're not supposed to use one cringe, but just how not cool, not young, not tapped in I am.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Is that what this episode's gonna become?
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: I I see it going there.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: Apparently, it's heading hard.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: That is where it's going.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: We're just acknowledging that we don't know what's going on with the with the youth, with the youths of our youth today.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: But so I think it's a I think we we have one experience with AI.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: Going back to Does It Know Us?
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: I'm curious what a 20-somethings AI would come back with.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: After a few years.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: After a couple of years.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: After a few years, yeah.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: And then I'm really curious what a teens AI would come back with.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: The other thing I think is really important to understand or recognize as you get older, you just have more tools in your tool belt.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Uh a heartbreak, a something personal.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: I I have more tools at my age now to navigate those than I did in my teens and my twenties.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: Where I could see the lure of AI being the tool to help me like figure things out, navigate.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: How do I uh how do I respond to this text message, which I still do now?
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: Uh, but how you know, like helping me process emotions where we didn't have AI, we just had girlfriends or guy friends or you know, whomever, siblings, to help us um process and feel feel uh manage our feelings, talk through it.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: Now are they going to AI?
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: Well, and I did look up, I Googled what are some specific AI companions?
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: And there are specific programs that are built to form ongoing social or emotional bonds rather than just answer task-oriented questions.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: And they give a couple examples here.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: We're not sponsored yet, so I'm not gonna shout out any names, but there is a specific app for virtual friendship, there is a specific app for custom persona role play, there is a specific app for dynamic memory building, and a specific bot for mental health support.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna be seeing more and more and more of these customized agents and agentic AI filling these gaps where they exist.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: Anywhere a gap exists, trust the market to fill it, right?
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: Women talk finance, let's get that little plug in there.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: The the the gaps will fill.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: The market fills the gap, sometimes overly so, and you end up with a market that gets saturated and things.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm curious.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: This leads me to ask about like privacy and reasonable expectations of privacy.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: If say you're not even on, you're not even on a on an agentic site, you're not on an app, but our phones are kind of always listening.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: So I don't know if you've noticed.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: I've been given really nice shopping suggestions where I'm like, that that actually AI may have just gotten it more right than my friend could have.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, a hundred percent.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: How'd you know I want this?
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: I didn't, like I dreamed about this last night.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: How did you know I wanted it?
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: No, I feel that way too.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: I feel like there's times where I don't even know that I need something or I had a challenge that the the the internets got together and solved and and shared with me the solution to the problem I still hadn't totally identified.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: And then I'm getting inundated with it to the point now where I'm like, I just obviously need this.
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: So that freaks me off.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: I don't love being manipulated.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: That's why every week I tell you I'm switching to a flip phone.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: If you do when you do, it better be the pink razor with the jewels on it.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Do you remember that one?
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: Yes, of course.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: The bedazzled case.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: Or the the sidekick where it flipped up.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: At the time, that was leading innovation.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: The shit.
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: You got a little keyboard.
- 14:58SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: So are we are we placing bets right now for when AI does get to the point where it knows you better, or are we just leaving it open and we want the audience to like share your stories about when it was maybe a little suspicious that AI was starting to look like maybe it knew you better than your best friend?
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: I'm also curious how many other people are kind of in this boat of like, I'm still I don't reveal as I don't share a ton with AI all the time.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: Like, okay, yeah, I shared I did share pictures of uh areas of my home where I was like, ooh, help me brainstorm this space.
- 15:34SPEAKER_02: Help me.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: I did a lot of um landscape because I was like, I am not a landscaper.
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: I don't I am not a landscape artiste.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: I don't, I don't know which not yet.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Not yet.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: It's early in the week, baby.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: It's just Tuesday.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: I don't know what what's going to be good in this space and do all these, and I want to be mindful and drought tolerant and all of and I don't know how to make that look and fit the vibe.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: So I guess in some ways there's things I'm comfortable sharing, and then there's other things where I'm like very uncomfortable sharing with the with the internet.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: Um, I do wonder generationally, I would imagine my like I think my aunt and uncle are probably on the more skeptical side.
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: Like they don't want anything, they don't want to put anything on there.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: Um, I think they'd be very, very nervous.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: Um, whereas I think to somebody younger, um would have no qualms putting everything out there.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: Like the I they've got it all anyway.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: I'm just gonna keep, you know, keep adding to it.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: Um and I could see the idea of it makes my life easier, it solves problems for me.
- 16:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I didn't know I needed that thing, and how great that the computers knew that I did, and they gave me the link and everything.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: There's a buy now button.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: You can have a board, investors, advisors, and still have nobody you can actually talk to about what is really going on.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: That is not unusual.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: That is the founder reality, and we step in right there.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: I'm Tom Powell, and at the founder's office, we're proud to sponsor Women Talk Finance.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: So that that leads me to the next point about the hidden motivators or the underlying drivers that are kind of built into AI.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Obviously, there's a huge commercialization aspect, right?
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: We're collecting data, it's big data, it's being reused and recycled and repurposed to get your buying dollars, to get your consumer spend.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: Also, have you noticed that like built into it is this like it's gonna tell you you are the best.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: It's not gonna disagree with you.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Even if you press it and press it and press it, it's it's gonna still tell you that you're in the right.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: So it's interesting because it's designed.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: If we go back to having a friend giving you honest feedback and a friend knowing you and um like knowing your life experience, a friend can give constructive criticism and tough love.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: I don't know that AI has the ability.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Does AI have the ability to give tough love?
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: I don't think it does.
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: I think it's going to take your side.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: Um, I see the way my AI talks to me.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: And it in some ways it is um, you know, I know they've they've made shifts, like chat is almost overly complementary, and so Claude is a little less.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: Um so as they're adjusting and making these changes, who who knows?
- 18:47SPEAKER_02: Um I also think economically, is this is this a problem?
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Financially, I think it could be very problematic for a lot of us that we're getting more.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: Say more on that.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: So, how often have you and I talked about how we impulsively bought something because we saw an Instagram ad?
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: And it was just kind of like we fit the algorithm so it gives us something, and we're like, obviously, I need this.
- 19:17SPEAKER_02: Now, in a space where we feel comfortable with these resources, with an AI resource, with maybe even a going further, a companion, and that is giving us things that we need, and it's all talking, and now everything on the internet, while it's feeling custom to us, it also again going back to always think of the underlying motivation.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: But if we are constantly getting shoved things and it knows our weak points, and we're not feeling like we have enough, and it's constantly feeding us more, it's no longer keeping up with the Joneses, it's keeping up with this image AI has designed and built around you and about you, and is feeding to you, and you are spending potentially more because it knows your number.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, so this it's triggering for me a broader question.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: Does AI know you better than your best friend?
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: We've already been able to determine, probably not.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: Does AI, could AI know you better than your doctor?
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: Hmm, probably.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: If you're uploading all of your tests, all of your labs, all of your different things, and asking it to analyze, does AI know you better?
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: When you're doing a late night, like, uh, is this look okay?
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: Like, or oh my, you know, I'm having these symptoms.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: I think people are doing that a lot now.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: It's no longer WebMD, it's asking AI.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: And I think the potential is there, but at the end of the day, always, always, always, always, at least for the foreseeable future, the the edge, the cutting edge is going to be in the human discretion with how you're using AI.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: Um, we had an episode on the loneliness epidemic, and we've talked in this episode about people using AI for companionship or therapy.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: And I think it can definitely have its benefits, but use discretion, right?
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: Don't take what AI says, knowing it's gonna give you a little bit of a boost.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: It's not gonna be your harshest critic ever.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Um take it with a grain of salt, I guess is maybe what I'm trying to say.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: There's there's room for a lot of discretion yet with AI.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: In fact, that I think is where the big edge is is using AI, but knowing when to insert your own discretion.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: Do you think using your own discretion will continue to be something that Future generations do.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: I think we definitely grew up with the like get a second opinion, trust but verify.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: Because the generations before us really pushed that down, right?
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: Like you'd get a diagnosis and you would go get a second opinion.
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: You'd get something done on your car and you might go get a second opinion.
- 22:19SPEAKER_02: Um, but in this world of almost seemingly AI has access to everything, and I think we all come at AI with a better double check that.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: Let's let's dive deeper, let's go deeper on these resources.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: Do younger generations do that?
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: Do they or do they take it as golden?
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: Are they are they going to get second opinions?
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: Or are they going to just trust what is being said?
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: Because it feels like it's kind of coming from this all-powerful space.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know the answer to that.
- 22:57SPEAKER_01: I know what I hope.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: I know what I hope for all people.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: Sorry, scratch that.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, here's the answer.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: There's this there's a very specific example about this, actually.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: And it it comes down to like the trust economy.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: That's a whole nother conversation.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: What do you trust and how do you know what to trust?
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: Um, there was this, there's this chat or this um it's a thread.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: It's like a group message thread.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: And a member of it sent this piece of content that was on Instagram and Facebook and challenged the group and said, Okay, is this AI or is this human?
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: And it was a pretty convincing human that all of these videos, all these content reels, this human had a pretty elaborate group of tattoos on his chest and a sleeve on his on his arm.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: And one video showed the tattoos on the other side.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: And then one video, way, way, way, way, way, way deep in the content, showed tattoos on both sides, like mirror image.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: That was the only tell.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: Otherwise, it was very difficult to tell that this excuse me, person was AI.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: And sorry, tickle, frog in my throat.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a and this person was promoting healthcare.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: The little tagline was like, I'm 65 with the biomarkers of a 35-year-old.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Follow me for health tips, right?
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: Again, unless you were looking for the tells and trying to answer the specific question that the person posed in this group, you know, is this AI or real?
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: You may you may have missed the one video where the tattoo is on the other arm.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: And you could blindly go and be like, oh my gosh, this person's 65 years old, they've got the biomarkers of a 35-year-old.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna buy what they're selling and do what they do.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: And like, uh oh, because that's not true.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: It's that's actually false.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: And I I'm curious because then I because I hear that and I think I've fallen for some of those videos where I see things.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: I haven't purchased anything that I know, but I see things and I go.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: Well, I have.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: And then I look deeper or I think a little bit more critically, and I'm like, okay, I think that was AI.
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: I've heard kids because they are going up with AI, go, it's obviously AI.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: Kids are quicker about AI.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: So I'm like, it could go either way.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: I could see kids being more skeptical, just like it's AI.
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: Why are you so gullible?
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, I love that for them and for us actually, because they may be our best protection against like AI takeover.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: They may be.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: And I think we are finding value in things that are authentic.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: I'm loving some of the things of we've seen, you know, parties where you you have a bowl by the front door and it's like, please put your phones down because we want to have authentic connection.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: Or um, you know, Odyssey just came out.
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: And the thing people are most impressed with is that it wasn't chucked full of CGI, like so much of it in this world of AI, people really loved this artistry in creating and using camera work and makeup and you know, the whatever that vision is where you skewed whatever it's called, where you make objects seem bigger.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: And so I think we're finding more value.
- 26:45SPEAKER_02: It's making the real world almost more valuable, right?
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: So going back to friendship.
- 26:51SPEAKER_02: I like that lens.
- 26:52SPEAKER_02: I like that perception.
- 26:54SPEAKER_02: Does AI make your friend knowing you all the more valuable?
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm gonna answer that one quick.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: I think it does.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: Yes, it does, and it makes it fun to be like it it was kind of fun for me to be like, I know, like that feels it feels good to know to know your friend, right?
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: It feels good to know the answer to things.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: It feels good to see something that AI created and see it and go, oh, this, yes, a AI nailed it because I know you on a personal level, and I can say, yes, this looks exactly like something you would like, or this does look like the landscape design you would say.
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: It's it it keeps boosting the value of or maybe re-highlighting, reinforcing the value of personal connection.
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: We've come back to that so many different times in so many different ways.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: There we did it.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: We did it.
- 27:52SPEAKER_02: Oh, yay us, yeah yes.
- 27:54SPEAKER_02: Full circle, baby, full circle.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, I think that's I think that's a really it's we're gonna see how this evolves, right?
- 28:06SPEAKER_02: We're still figuring out how to use AI.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: And there is this statistic.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: Um, so nine over 19% of Americans age 12 to 21.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: You were talking about like the younger generation, someone who's 20, someone who's kind of grown up with this more.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: 19%, more than 19% used AI chatbots for mental health advice.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: So about one in five, about one in five, I'll call them like high schoolers or teenage, you know, teenage high school college, they've used an AI chatbot for mental health advice.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: And 63% of those people didn't tell anyone, meaning they thought that the the the chat was sufficient, and 92% said it helped.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: So I think that's a huge value add.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: So why not?
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: Again, good to be aware and have discretion that okay, AI is gonna tell me what I want to hear for the most part, but if it's helping with any sort of mental health struggle, great.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: And more so if it's creating a culture where we are feeling okay, confident in being vulnerable, maybe that extends to the human connection as well.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: That you were able to be vulnerable with this virtual thought, and now you are able to be vulnerable, maybe in your human connection.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: I like that.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: I don't know, maybe I'm hypothesizing here.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: Practice vulnerability.
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, practice vulnerability.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: It I could see how it would feel less scary if you had something you wanted to talk about to say it to AI and not a person.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: Because I don't think you feel the judgment of an AI.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: No, right?
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: No, no, I don't think I've ever felt judged.
- 30:01SPEAKER_02: So the point, I don't I don't worry about how I'm typing to AI.
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: I make a gazillion typing errors because I type so fast, and I'm like, it'll get the gist.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: I would never send a text like that.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: In fact, if I send a text with a grammatical error, I'm like, edit, edit.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: I can't have them know I made an error.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Okay, why don't you just blame your child?
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: That's what children are for.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: You have a five-year-old.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: Obviously, your five-year-old has your phone.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Come on, Candace.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: She texts that.
- 30:31SPEAKER_01: But you're so sorry.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I want to challenge you to send me some really just god-awful misspelled words, terrible grammar, non-punctuated.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: I want you to send me just something feral, and I will send you all the emoticons back as I do.
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: I send you feral things all the time, but it's spelled correctly.
- 31:01SPEAKER_02: Fair.
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: Fair.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: The grammar's on point.
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: The thoughts are ridiculous.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: The gifts are giving.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: They give life all the time.
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: We're still big into that.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: We also still use the laughing.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: I have room to improve.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: I have room to improve.
- 31:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: We still use the the the laughing with the eyes crying and the colour.
- 31:25SPEAKER_02: The sobby.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: The sobby and the straight down.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: Like straight down so hard.
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: Straight down.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:31SPEAKER_02: Still use it.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: I think we're we're just at that age.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: And the full circle point here is because we know each other so well and we're so connected and we love each other and we're not each other's AI.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: That is so true.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: I cannot text an AI bot in the middle of a meeting and be like, You can't.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: Just me.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: I want I want that.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: I want to be the only one.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: Always.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: Always.
- 32:03SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: Promised.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: That also there's a Justin Bieber song called The One.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: A me only one.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: So that's to let's keep going on this theme of ending with you know, I guess it's not rap lyrics, but coming from a true believer like you, that is an honor.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: More proof, more proof that you know me so much better than my AI.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: My A could my AI could never, would never.
- 32:36SPEAKER_02: Doesn't know you're a believer, a true believer.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: I haven't gone deep in the journaling with my AI on my true love of the beads.
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: More points for me.
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: Haha, AI.
- 32:49SPEAKER_02: Suck it.
- 32:50SPEAKER_02: All the points.
- 32:50SPEAKER_02: All the points.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: Amazing.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: What else do we have to offer our audience on that?
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: No, I think nothing.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: I think we've given it all.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: We given and have we given, we hope so.
- 33:02SPEAKER_03: We are who's going to be able to do that.
- 33:03SPEAKER_02: We've given our heart and soul on this.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, hopefully.
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: Take it, take a tip for a test then.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: Ask your chat a couple funny things that maybe your friends do know, or maybe they don't know, but see see how well your chat knows you or your AI, quad, whomever you use compared to your friends, because we did think it was pretty funny.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: I do like that as a good takeaway.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Go play with it a little bit, challenge it, see what it actually knows.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:28SPEAKER_02: And if it doesn't know you, I'd say probably pretty good job.
- 33:35SPEAKER_02: You're safe for now.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: You're safe from the robots for now.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: Uh, thank you so much for joining us.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, like, subscribe, join us next time.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: We also we have an exciting thing coming up soon.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: Candace and I are gonna spend two full days locked in a room together with snacks, willingly doing some major, major fun themes, big episodes.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: I don't know, I need to add a third item.
- 34:09SPEAKER_02: We're so excited.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: We're gonna stay hydrated.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: We're gonna probably probably be in comfy pants.
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: I think we've discussed that.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be a good time.
- 34:19SPEAKER_02: 100%.
- 34:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm excited.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, join us for more.
