Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: The Blaze and Confused podcast is rated M for marijuana.
- 0:04Speaker 1: No minors, mature audiences only.
- 0:08Speaker 2: You know what's crazy about Dolly Parton, though? Like, she's
- 0:10Speaker 2: on the TV right now. Like, look at her years ago.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Looks nothing like she did, like, yesterday when she died,
- 0:16Speaker 2: you know?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Today, yeah. Well, today, whatever. That's probably 40 years ago
- 0:20Speaker 1: on the TV. Of course she doesn't look like this.
- 0:22Speaker 1: 50 years ago. What do you think you'll look like
- 0:24Speaker 1: in 40 years?
- 0:25Speaker 2: But that's just it. The facial structure looks different. Like,
- 0:27Speaker 2: look at those cheekbones, man. But look at those cheekbones.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Different cheekbones.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Your cheeks change position. No, no. With the help of
- 0:36Speaker 1: a doctor. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Man, that's fucked up. Yeah, sorry.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I know.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I didn't know I was coming on this kind of show.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Dolly Parton just died, and I'm commenting on her cheekbone.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I mean, really, though, look at that. She has the
- 0:47Speaker 2: facial structure of Michael Jackson later in life.
- 0:50Speaker 1: But earlier, no. This is how we lose listeners, I think.
- 0:54Speaker 1: You describe what you're watching on TV. Yeah.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Mark just got here, and he said, wow, you have
- 0:59Speaker 2: a TV in your studio? Is the news on all
- 1:01Speaker 2: the time?
- 1:02Speaker 1: And yes. Yeah.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Especially now, you've got to have it on at all
- 1:06Speaker 2: times just in case the world ends. I was going
- 1:08Speaker 2: to say on the off chance the world ends, but man,
- 1:10Speaker 2: every day it goes on, I'm like, well, I don't
- 1:12Speaker 2: know if it's an off chance anymore.
- 1:14Speaker 1: We're getting closer. Yeah, we're getting closer and closer to that,
- 1:17Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:18Speaker 2: But I think Canada might really become the 51st state.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Did you hear about this? What is it? Was it
- 1:23Speaker 1: Lake America they're talking about now? God, we're just renaming everything.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We got the Gulf of America down there, and we
- 1:30Speaker 2: got the Lake of America up there, and then America
- 1:33Speaker 2: in the middle.
- 1:33Speaker 1: It's like a big America sandwich. Yeah, great.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I think if I was in a conversation with somebody
- 1:38Speaker 4: in person and they use the phrase Gulf of America
- 1:42Speaker 4: or Lake of America, I would probably just set my
- 1:46Speaker 4: drink down, put my money on the table or whatever
- 1:49Speaker 4: and turn around and walk away.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I don't think there's even a response. No one in
- 1:52Speaker 1: conversation that I've had has said those words to me yet.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Golf of America. They haven't used that yet. I'm waiting
- 1:59Speaker 1: for it, though.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I must have had an interaction where somebody brings up
- 2:03Speaker 2: the Gulf of America. I'm very good at just skirting
- 2:05Speaker 2: past that and ignoring it. It gets harder and harder, though.
- 2:08Speaker 1: All I'm saying is that we have other things to
- 2:10Speaker 1: worry about. We do. Than renaming lakes and oceans and
- 2:14Speaker 1: gulfs or whatever. Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 2: We're getting the current events out of the way right away.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Right in the beginning of the show, meet the press.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And we can move on, right?
- 2:24Speaker 1: There's going to be absolutely nothing political moving forward. No
- 2:27Speaker 1: more politics. I do have a question about eggs, though.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:30Speaker 1: Eggs. Like, I'm eating a lot of eggs as of recently. Yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 1: You eat eggs? You like eggs? Love eggs. Do you really?
- 2:35Speaker 1: I eat them all the time. See, I just, I
- 2:37Speaker 1: don't like eggs. People go to the grocery store, they
- 2:39Speaker 1: get like a dozen eggs. Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I get the next one up, I get 18. I've
- 2:44Speaker 2: been getting the big, big, big one.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The 24.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I've been eating three eggs a day, man. I'm trying
- 2:48Speaker 2: to pack some pounds.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Eggs are great.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, eggs are supposed to be very good for you.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I just think they're incredibly boring.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I feel like you got to make them unhealthy for
- 2:55Speaker 2: them to taste good. I got to pour a shitload
- 2:57Speaker 2: of salt on it or it needs cheese.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Do you eat eggs without cheese? I do, but man,
- 3:03Speaker 1: they're so much better with cheese. Everything's better with cheese.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Everything is.
- 3:07Speaker 2: But I'm thinking about this the other day and I
- 3:08Speaker 2: did confirm my answer, but When you go to eat
- 3:12Speaker 2: an egg, you're like eating what could have been a chicken,
- 3:16Speaker 2: but wasn't a chicken.
- 3:18Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 3:19Speaker 2: It was like, it could have been, it was so
- 3:20Speaker 2: close to being a chicken, but it's like the chicken's offspring.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I actually don't know how that works. I'm very confused
- 3:26Speaker 1: by it.
- 3:27Speaker 2: So I had my, I was at my cousin's bachelor
- 3:29Speaker 2: party at the Pennsylvania Renaissance.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You were really excited about that. I was thrilled to go. Yes. And, uh,
- 3:35Speaker 1: but yeah, I don't know. I got real drunk and
- 3:37Speaker 1: then I was like, I don't understand eggs.
- 3:39Speaker 2: And I had my cousin's boyfriend who's like, you know,
- 3:41Speaker 2: a doctor or whatever the fuck he explained it to me.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'm still confused by it, but yeah. So he didn't
- 3:47Speaker 1: do a good job of explaining it, or you didn't
- 3:48Speaker 1: do a good job of understanding it?
- 3:51Speaker 2: He made it sound like, you know how if you're
- 3:53Speaker 2: a lady, you get your menstrual thing going on once
- 3:57Speaker 2: a month?
- 3:58Speaker 1: Never heard of this one. No, not at all.
- 4:00Speaker 2: But he made it sound like when you go to
- 4:02Speaker 2: eat an egg, that it's like the chicken doing its
- 4:04Speaker 2: menstrual thing. It's like that kind of egg instead of
- 4:06Speaker 2: a chicken buck buck, like its offspring egg, you know?
- 4:10Speaker 1: Buck buck. Yeah. You know what I mean.
- 4:14Speaker 4: The way that I look at it is the human
- 4:17Speaker 4: functions so differently than the chicken that just the fact
- 4:21Speaker 4: that the chicken is ejecting a shelled egg is so
- 4:28Speaker 4: different than what humans would do that I don't think
- 4:32Speaker 4: you could say, oh, well, this is kind of like
- 4:34Speaker 4: a human's menstrual Not really.
- 4:38Speaker 1: It's totally different. All right.
- 4:39Speaker 2: So when you, let's go, let's give it a Google.
- 4:41Speaker 2: When you eat an egg, are you eating kind of
- 4:46Speaker 2: a chicken?
- 4:49Speaker 1: Cause I mean, really, that's my question. Okay.
- 4:51Speaker 2: So kind of, but not really. Most eggs you buy
- 4:53Speaker 2: at the grocery store are unfertilized. Oh, meaning that they
- 4:58Speaker 2: just took the, so there's no sperm in there to
- 5:01Speaker 2: like make the other chicken.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I don't know how to answer that. I think it's
- 5:06Speaker 1: even different than that, but yeah. All right, I'll keep going. Okay.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Most eggs you buy at the grocery store are unfertilized,
- 5:12Speaker 2: meaning there was never a rooster involved and no baby
- 5:15Speaker 2: chicken was developing.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Think of it this way.
- 5:18Speaker 2: A hen produces and releases an egg cell, whether she
- 5:21Speaker 2: mates or not. The yolk is basically the egg cell
- 5:24Speaker 2: plus stored nutrients. The egg white is mostly water and
- 5:27Speaker 2: protein meant to protect slash nourish a potential embryo, but
- 5:32Speaker 2: the shell itself protects everything. But if the hen didn't
- 5:36Speaker 2: mate with a rooster, then the egg can never become
- 5:38Speaker 2: a chick. So that's what it is.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah. I never knew that.
- 5:41Speaker 2: So here's the next thing. Here's the next big question.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And this was the question at the bachelor party. This
- 5:46Speaker 2: is how much of a great weekend I had that
- 5:48Speaker 2: we sat around and talked about this. But what do
- 5:50Speaker 2: you think came first? Like, what came first? You eating
- 5:54Speaker 2: the egg or you eating the chicken? What was done
- 5:57Speaker 2: first historically?
- 5:59Speaker 1: What do you think? Now, that's a question, huh?
- 6:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 1: We sat and pondered that for a while. Well, that's
- 6:04Speaker 1: like an old thing, right? What came first, the chicken
- 6:06Speaker 1: or the egg?
- 6:06Speaker 4: Yeah, but he's saying what came first, eating a chicken
- 6:09Speaker 4: or eating an egg. So did the first human who
- 6:12Speaker 4: ate one of those eat the chicken and then say, oh,
- 6:14Speaker 4: I'm all out, and then see the eggs and eat them?
- 6:17Speaker 4: Or did he say, hey, give me those eggs. They
- 6:19Speaker 4: look like food. And then he ate the chicken. Or
- 6:23Speaker 4: somebody else did.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Can you ask Google that too? What, should I ask
- 6:25Speaker 1: who ate what? Google's best guess. What came first? No
- 6:30Speaker 1: way to have a guess. Eating chicken or eating the egg.
- 6:36Speaker 1: That's what makes it fun, Mark. Almost certainly the egg.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Almost certainly the egg.
- 6:41Speaker 2: If you mean humans eating them, our ancestors were eating
- 6:44Speaker 2: eggs long before chickens ever existed.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Well, that sounds a little weird. Well, they were eating
- 6:50Speaker 1: dinosaur eggs or something. Dinosaur eggs. Bird eggs.
- 6:54Speaker 2: It's just a little weird to think that every time
- 6:56Speaker 2: you go to eat an egg, you're eating, you know,
- 6:58Speaker 2: like a chicken's menstrual thing.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Don't ruin eggs. No, but really, though. I mean, anyway. Yeah.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I should press the open button on that note. Episode 63.
- 7:08Speaker 1: This should be eggs. Excellent. Excellent. All right, let's do it.
- 7:14Speaker 3: The blazed and confused podcast with Becker and Joel, the
- 7:18Speaker 3: trivia podcast where truth, theory, and THC collide. Let's spark
- 7:25Speaker 3: your curiosity and light up some knowledge. The blazed and
- 7:30Speaker 3: confused podcast with Becker and Joel starts now.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Now.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I'm Becker, that's Joel. Hey, Joel. Hey. Hey. Tropical Mark
- 7:40Speaker 1: is back. I think this is your third time on
- 7:42Speaker 1: the show, right? Oh, wow. Could be. I was an
- 7:44Speaker 1: audience member once. You were, yeah, absolutely. Tropical Mark. I
- 7:47Speaker 1: have music for you somewhere. Hang on, let me find it.
- 7:49Speaker 1: A nickname, by the way, that Mark does not like
- 7:52Speaker 1: outside of the show. Really? Outside of the show? You know,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I like it. I think it has a nice little
- 7:59Speaker 1: ring to it, you know? This is his music. There
- 8:02Speaker 1: he is.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Tropical Mark. Tropical Mark is here. Where have you been lately, Mark?
- 8:06Speaker 2: Anyplace tropical?
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yes, I was up in Toronto, Canada. That's not tropical.
- 8:12Speaker 1: That's not tropical at all. That's about to be America.
- 8:16Speaker 1: All you did was go here.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Are you excited to travel to Canada, but not to
- 8:21Speaker 2: be considered traveling internationally?
- 8:24Speaker 1: Wow.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Well, you know what's nice is at Toronto Airport, you
- 8:29Speaker 4: go through customs immigration before you come back. So when
- 8:33Speaker 4: you land at your U.S. airport, you don't have to
- 8:36Speaker 4: do that.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You just leave. Really? Yeah. I've never been to Canada.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I would like Canada. It's right there. It's right up there.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You good over there? I'm doing my best. Tropical Mark,
- 8:48Speaker 1: what else? Vacations, where are you going?
- 8:50Speaker 4: Well, I'm going to Dominican Republic and Mexico again soon.
- 8:55Speaker 4: But mostly this summer, I just stayed around here.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah. So people are, what, probably planning vacations now for
- 9:01Speaker 1: the wintertime? Oh, yeah. To get away?
- 9:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Where are people going the most? Where are you noticing things?
- 9:06Speaker 4: We always sell a lot of Mexico, but Jamaica, also
- 9:10Speaker 4: very popular. Getting some folks going to Hawaii. It's a
- 9:15Speaker 4: bit longer of a trip, especially from here on the
- 9:17Speaker 4: East Coast, but I'd like to get back there myself.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I wanted to go to Hawaii and do everything that
- 9:22Speaker 2: the Brady Bunch did in those three episodes back in 1971.
- 9:25Speaker 1: That would be my dream. Why don't you? I thought
- 9:29Speaker 1: about it, man. Got to go find the tiki and.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Well, I want to do the Brady Bunch excursion minus
- 9:34Speaker 2: all the fucked up shit that happens to the Brady Bunch.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Some of that stuff's a little creepy. I don't want
- 9:37Speaker 2: to be followed by Vincent Price in a creepy little cave. Yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 2: nobody wants that.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I think you'd be good with a large turtle. A
- 9:46Speaker 1: large turtle? Yeah, if you hang out on the beach
- 9:48Speaker 1: with a giant large turtle. Do they have big turtles
- 9:50Speaker 1: on the beach or something? Yeah, really huge turtles.
- 9:53Speaker 4: I didn't even know that there was one standing right
- 9:55Speaker 4: by me until somebody was like, yeah Mark look at
- 9:57Speaker 4: it and I'm like I know it's so great isn't
- 9:59Speaker 4: it and they're like no right behind you and then
- 10:00Speaker 4: I see this enormous turtle for real yeah like a
- 10:04Speaker 4: big big turtle real big yeah friendly I want to
- 10:07Speaker 4: say like I could have hugged the turtle but I
- 10:10Speaker 4: would have only just barely got my arms around wow
- 10:13Speaker 4: whoa really a wild turtle yep oh most of them
- 10:17Speaker 4: are wild yeah No, I don't think most turtles are wild.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I think a lot of turtles are domesticated. You know,
- 10:21Speaker 2: you could go to Petco and buy a turtle. I
- 10:23Speaker 2: told you, my parents used to have a turtle growing
- 10:25Speaker 2: up way back.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Timmy the turtle. Rest in peace. I think there are
- 10:28Speaker 1: more turtles out in nature versus in captivity. At Petco?
- 10:32Speaker 1: I don't know about that. I don't know.
- 10:36Speaker 2: All right, do you want to ask me about the
- 10:38Speaker 2: Ren Faire?
- 10:40Speaker 1: Yes, I want to know everything. Cause you were not
- 10:42Speaker 1: looking forward to going at all. And, uh, it turns
- 10:46Speaker 1: out that your attire was appropriate. You said it was
- 10:48Speaker 1: like some kind of pirate themed weekend. I was really
- 10:50Speaker 1: thrown off. He was telling me that he was going
- 10:52Speaker 1: to dress up his group as pirates going to the
- 10:55Speaker 1: Ren fair. I'm like, that's not the same though. That's
- 10:58Speaker 1: two different things. I thought that they might be insulting
- 11:01Speaker 1: the people that go there and love that, but apparently
- 11:03Speaker 1: it was like a themed weekend. They could have had pirates. Yeah.
- 11:07Speaker 2: So we talked about it a little bit last week
- 11:09Speaker 2: on last week's episode, but my cousin is getting married
- 11:13Speaker 2: and his bachelor party was a weekend excursion at the
- 11:16Speaker 2: Pennsylvania Renaissance fair.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Did you guys party really hard? I would. No one
- 11:21Speaker 1: else went that hard, huh?
- 11:22Speaker 2: Whoever's the best man at this wedding, man, I hear
- 11:25Speaker 2: him say, Oh man, this is the Airbnb. I think
- 11:29Speaker 2: I got the wrong one. This is the one that
- 11:31Speaker 2: I specifically didn't want to get.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I'm like, Oh, great.
- 11:34Speaker 2: So like no TV, there was not one TV in
- 11:37Speaker 2: this place, right? Not one, not one TV. Uh, there
- 11:41Speaker 2: was like no fire pit, like hardly any yard.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I mean, there was a little bit of a yard
- 11:44Speaker 1: that we hung out in. Uh, but yeah, I don't know.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So we get there and my cousin, Chris, the groom, uh, he's,
- 11:51Speaker 2: he was the first one there. And the first thing
- 11:52Speaker 2: out of his mouth was just so you know, you
- 11:54Speaker 2: can't vape in here.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I'm like, okay. It's going to be one of those weekends. Okay, great.
- 11:58Speaker 1: What you don't find, like I respect an Airbnb. It
- 12:00Speaker 1: is what it is.
- 12:02Speaker 2: But then, yeah, we drank a little bit on Friday
- 12:04Speaker 2: night and then Saturday we go to the Ren Faire, right?
- 12:07Speaker 2: So again, I was not looking forward to dressing up
- 12:10Speaker 2: as a pirate, but I did find out that it
- 12:12Speaker 2: was the theme for the weekend at the Renaissance Faire was.
- 12:17Speaker 1: like creatures of the sea or something. Gotcha. I got
- 12:21Speaker 1: $ 40 costumes.
- 12:22Speaker 2: On Amazon, uh, for me and, uh, my buddy, Billy,
- 12:26Speaker 2: my cousin's boyfriend.
- 12:27Speaker 1: So we looked good. Right.
- 12:28Speaker 2: So we get dressed to go the next morning. And
- 12:30Speaker 2: the only person that's not dressed is Chris the groom.
- 12:34Speaker 2: And we're like, yeah, man, where's your outfit? And he's like,
- 12:38Speaker 2: I didn't know that. I didn't know that we were like,
- 12:40Speaker 2: like dressing up like this. And I was like fuming
- 12:44Speaker 2: on the inside. Cause it's like, you mean that I'm
- 12:45Speaker 2: like dressed like a fucking idiot and you're not like
- 12:48Speaker 2: the whole idea of this is that this is for you.
- 12:50Speaker 1: And now you're not even going to dress up. So
- 12:53Speaker 1: my God, like he had like a sword and a
- 12:55Speaker 1: hat and that was it. And the rest of us
- 12:57Speaker 1: had like full ass outfits. I kind of liked the
- 12:59Speaker 1: idea of him walking around with a bunch of guys
- 13:01Speaker 1: dressed like that. I think it's really funny. I think
- 13:03Speaker 1: it makes it better. I was so pissed.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Also, I was furious at the fact that we went
- 13:07Speaker 2: out to breakfast and, dressed as pirates. Like I thought,
- 13:10Speaker 2: all right, why don't we go out to eat and
- 13:13Speaker 2: then come back and then change?
- 13:15Speaker 1: But no, I was overruled on that.
- 13:17Speaker 2: So no, we get to the Renfrew there and we
- 13:19Speaker 2: met a bunch of his other friends that showed up.
- 13:22Speaker 1: And then lo and behold, again, you do you.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I'm not throwing shade at anybody, but man, welcome.
- 13:27Speaker 1: To the freak show. That's the first thing I thought
- 13:29Speaker 1: when we pulled up.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Cause man, these costumes were crazy.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Like everywhere you look like.
- 13:35Speaker 2: These people go out nutty, crazy ass costumes. I mean,
- 13:39Speaker 2: I felt underdressed, but at least I had like, you know,
- 13:42Speaker 2: my cousin Chris was wearing red basketball shorts, right?
- 13:47Speaker 1: Red basketball shorts with a sword. Yeah.
- 13:52Speaker 2: With a sword and a hat. So we meet a
- 13:56Speaker 2: bunch of his friends at the Ren Faire. And one
- 13:59Speaker 2: of his friends is like thrown to the... I mean,
- 14:01Speaker 2: like dressed like Captain Hook himself.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I mean, like crazy. Johnny Depp wannabe.
- 14:06Speaker 2: And so he had, I shit you not, an extra
- 14:11Speaker 2: costume in his car.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Really?
- 14:14Speaker 2: Why you bring two costumes to a Ren Faire, I'll
- 14:16Speaker 2: never know. But he had an extra costume that he
- 14:19Speaker 2: was able to give Chris so he could like blend
- 14:21Speaker 2: in with the rest of us all day.
- 14:22Speaker 1: But he still had like, you know, red basketball shorts on.
- 14:25Speaker 2: The funniest thing was walking around the Ren Faire and seeing...
- 14:28Speaker 2: All the other people that bought the same $ 40 Amazon
- 14:31Speaker 2: outfit that I had.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I mean, identical matching. He had a good time, which
- 14:35Speaker 1: is what matters. That's all that matters. That's all that matters.
- 14:38Speaker 1: You having a good time? Not what matters. It was okay.
- 14:42Speaker 1: But can we talk about that text message you sent
- 14:45Speaker 1: me while you were there? What did I send you?
- 14:46Speaker 1: You were like, oh, man. they're all a bunch of
- 14:49Speaker 1: squares or something like that. I was like, Oh no. Yeah,
- 14:53Speaker 1: I know.
- 14:54Speaker 3: I know.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Well, it's just like all weekend. It's like, yeah, man,
- 14:57Speaker 1: you want to drink? Yep. We're there at the rent fair. We, uh, we're,
- 15:00Speaker 1: we're at the bar. There's no line.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And so me and, uh, Billy say to him, uh.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to get you a drink. I don't
- 15:07Speaker 1: need one. It's like, Oh my God, shut the fuck. Yes,
- 15:09Speaker 1: you do. Yes, you do.
- 15:11Speaker 2: So I say to the bartender, I'm like, it's his
- 15:13Speaker 2: bachelor weekend. She pours the shot. She pours the beer.
- 15:16Speaker 2: It's sitting there. He goes to pick up the shot.
- 15:18Speaker 2: She goes, oh, no, no, no, no. I'm going to
- 15:20Speaker 2: do it for you. And she grabbed his forehead and.
- 15:24Speaker 2: pushed it back and like very seductively poured the shot
- 15:28Speaker 2: down his throat. And me and Billy are like losing it,
- 15:30Speaker 2: loving it.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:31Speaker 1: He wanted nothing to do with it. Yeah, because you
- 15:33Speaker 1: were going to bring a stripper, right? You were going
- 15:35Speaker 1: to get a stripper.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and I was specifically told not to. It's like, man,
- 15:38Speaker 2: square is an understatement, you fucking people.
- 15:40Speaker 1: My God. Your cousin doesn't listen, does he? Yeah, by
- 15:43Speaker 1: the way. Is that going to be a problem? Nah,
- 15:46Speaker 1: keep it in. I'm not saying anything that's untrue. We
- 15:50Speaker 1: had a good time, though. This is a podcast. We
- 15:53Speaker 1: tell the truth. We tell the truth. Yeah.
- 15:55Speaker 2: And we learn stuff. We learned about eggs. We learned about,
- 15:58Speaker 2: what else did we do? We learned about something else.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I don't remember. I don't remember either. Well, let's do
- 16:03Speaker 1: some wraparound questions. You remember that, Mark?
- 16:05Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:06Speaker 1: All right. 10 questions, 60 seconds. I think, Joel, you
- 16:09Speaker 1: have a piece of paper over there?
- 16:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 1: You're going to do the first one, so be ready.
- 16:13Speaker 1: All right. I'm ready. I'm ready. All right. All right.
- 16:15Speaker 3: The game begins in three, two, one.
- 16:17Speaker 1: All right. Tropical Mark. How many letters are in the alphabet?
- 16:24Speaker 3: 26.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah. What does the I in iPhone stand for?
- 16:28Speaker 1: Wrap it around. Internet? Yeah. Stratus and Cumulus are types
- 16:37Speaker 1: of what? Clouds. Very good. Yes. What state is directly
- 16:41Speaker 1: north of California? California. Oregon. Yeah. Penguins live in what continent? Antarctica.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Which one? Which one?
- 16:51Speaker 2: North.
- 16:53Speaker 1: North of Antarctica. We're going to accept that. If you
- 16:59Speaker 1: took 5,000 steps and each step is three feet, how
- 17:02Speaker 1: many feet did you walk? 1,500. Close. One more zero.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Oh, right.
- 17:09Speaker 1: What is the answer? Not 1,500. 1,500. One, five, zero, zero, zero. Yeah. Yeah,
- 17:17Speaker 1: that's it. Yes, yes. A finch is a type of what? Bird. Bird, yes.
- 17:21Speaker 1: What is the crime of starting fires called? Jeez. Pyromania. No, no,
- 17:28Speaker 1: that's not it. Arson. Yeah.
- 17:31Speaker 2: And a couple others here that we missed, but we'll
- 17:33Speaker 2: do them just for fun. What body of water connects
- 17:36Speaker 2: the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean?
- 17:40Speaker 1: Gulf of Mexico. Oh. no that'd be the gulf of
- 17:43Speaker 1: america no it wouldn't uh-huh i just wanted to what's
- 17:47Speaker 1: the name of the protective layer of the earth's atmosphere
- 17:50Speaker 1: that absorbs most of the sun's uv rays ozone yeah
- 17:53Speaker 1: all right you did pretty well i bet we just
- 17:55Speaker 1: kind of stumbled and didn't get to them all but
- 17:57Speaker 1: it's okay let's recap 26 letters.
- 18:00Speaker 2: In the alphabet yeah the i in iphone stands for
- 18:02Speaker 2: internet i never knew.
- 18:03Speaker 1: That yeah educational podcast you sure about that one You
- 18:08Speaker 1: want to look it up? I mean, it would make sense.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Let's look it up. No, I trust you. All right.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I trust you.
- 18:12Speaker 2: It would make sense that the iPhone stands for internet.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I know you liked question three.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I laughed at that. Stratus and Cumulus are types of what? Clouds.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Cumulus is just spelled funny, man. Anytime we would talk
- 18:24Speaker 1: about our former company, he would call it Cumulus. Because
- 18:27Speaker 1: that's what it looks like. Jeez. What else did we do?
- 18:31Speaker 2: What state is directly north of California? Yeah, I feel
- 18:34Speaker 2: like Joel wouldn't have gotten that one. No, I feel
- 18:36Speaker 2: like I would have gotten that one.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Is it Oregon?
- 18:38Speaker 2: It's the states in the middle that I have problems with.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Like the outer states, for the most part, I know.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Ish. Kind of. Penguins live in which continent, Mark? Antarctica.
- 18:49Speaker 1: There you go. I love how you said Arctica, and
- 18:52Speaker 1: I said, which one? Yeah.
- 18:54Speaker 4: That doesn't... I mean, I knew I had said it wrong,
- 18:59Speaker 4: but you threw me off by saying which one.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Sorry. If you took 5,000 steps and each step is
- 19:04Speaker 1: three feet, how many feet did you walk?
- 19:07Speaker 2: You pretty much got it. It took a little while,
- 19:08Speaker 2: but 15,000 is what we were looking for.
- 19:10Speaker 1: A finch is a type of bird. The crime of
- 19:14Speaker 1: starting fires is not pyromania. No. No, it's arson. Yeah.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Which I really did say. Yeah. Did you? You said
- 19:21Speaker 1: he got to it.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Pretty good. Tropical Mark.
- 19:24Speaker 2: I mean, we should say we call him Tropical Mark
- 19:26Speaker 2: because he wants to send you on a tropical vacation.
- 19:29Speaker 1: And your website is what? Tripguy.com, right? Tripguy.com. I knew it.
- 19:34Speaker 1: It's the company's site. But if you want to work
- 19:36Speaker 1: with Mark directly, your email? MarkR at Tripguy.com. See, look
- 19:40Speaker 1: at that. Love that company name. Tripguy.com. Should be Tropical
- 19:43Speaker 1: Mark R. I know. At Tripguy.com. But we're working on that.
- 19:46Speaker 1: But it's not. So everyone's following along. It's Mark. R
- 19:50Speaker 1: at Tripguy.com. Soon to be. No, stop. What else we
- 19:56Speaker 1: got going on? Random thoughts. Let's do that. Blazed and confused.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Random thoughts. I got it. I love reading your random thoughts.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Becker writes, it now costs an average of $ 250, 000 to
- 20:08Speaker 2: raise a child from birth date at about 18 years old.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Becker says, I'd rather use that money to book a
- 20:14Speaker 2: trip with Tropical Mark.
- 20:17Speaker 1: And he writes, trig guy travel. Oh, yes. Oh, well.
- 20:23Speaker 1: That's right. We all know it's trip guy travel. You know,
- 20:29Speaker 1: he's not even next to a P on the keyboard.
- 20:31Speaker 1: How'd you screw that one up? I don't know. Trig
- 20:33Speaker 1: guy travel. As in like what? Trigonometry?
- 20:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:36Speaker 1: But it's not. Tripguy.com. Okay. Anyway. But that's pretty expensive
- 20:41Speaker 1: for one of the babies born to 18 years old.
- 20:42Speaker 1: It takes $ 250, 000 to raise it.
- 20:44Speaker 2: So that doesn't mean like my parents or your parents
- 20:47Speaker 2: spent $ 250, 000 on us.
- 20:48Speaker 1: That means parents now, right? I think parents now.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 1: That's expensive. That's a lot. 200,000.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I wonder if that's got to include like college or something, right?
- 20:57Speaker 2: I have a friend who has five children. 250 times five.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I don't know how they do it. That's a lot.
- 21:04Speaker 1: That's up there. There's a lot of zeros in there. Yeah,
- 21:07Speaker 1: that's a lot of zeros. Mark wouldn't get that one either. No, no, no, no, no.
- 21:10Speaker 1: What did you say? 250 times five? 250,000 times five.
- 21:13Speaker 1: There's a lot of zeros. 1,250,000. He did get it right.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Is that what it would be?
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 21:22Speaker 2: But that would be like, I would look at the
- 21:23Speaker 2: zeros and think this is way too high for my
- 21:26Speaker 2: brain to comprehend.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I don't know. Just skip it and go on a trip.
- 21:30Speaker 2: A cannabis, a cannabis kiosk designed for seniors is opening
- 21:34Speaker 2: inside a retirement community.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Becker's random thoughts.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I'd rather see these than crane machines at my local
- 21:40Speaker 2: grocery store.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Wouldn't you? Dude, I go to these, the wise grocery store,
- 21:45Speaker 1: the wise markets, and they have like, Eight different crane
- 21:49Speaker 1: machines now that you can play. They had them right
- 21:51Speaker 1: in the front of the store. Really weird. Now they're
- 21:52Speaker 1: in the walkway when you walk into the place.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I love how you say this. They have eight different
- 21:56Speaker 2: crane machines that you can play. No, that five-year-olds can
- 21:59Speaker 2: play with.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Quarters, right? I tried them one time. One time. What
- 22:02Speaker 1: are you doing?
- 22:03Speaker 3: Why?
- 22:03Speaker 1: I tried it once because there was something cool in
- 22:05Speaker 1: there I wanted. And I moved on. But now... You're
- 22:07Speaker 1: as good at crane machines. I'm pretty good. Are you? Yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Did you get anything? No, I lost. Yeah. Yeah. Each time?
- 22:12Speaker 1: I only tried once.
- 22:14Speaker 2: You can spend a lot of money on those if you...
- 22:17Speaker 2: yeah don't watch yourself get a little carried away in there.
- 22:21Speaker 1: We used to get really drunk at the bar and
- 22:22Speaker 1: then we would go to what i guess like a
- 22:24Speaker 1: denny's or some kind of diner that had a crane
- 22:26Speaker 1: machine and i would often leave with something and then
- 22:29Speaker 1: it all went on our friend dominic's couch there must
- 22:32Speaker 1: have been like 30 stuffed animals on that thing eventually
- 22:35Speaker 1: yeah all from you and him yeah you guys were
- 22:37Speaker 1: the only ones who won yeah pretty good at crane
- 22:39Speaker 1: machines put that on the old resume Random thoughts. Talk
- 22:42Speaker 1: about Penn State students and their drug ring. Yeah, I
- 22:45Speaker 1: wrote that down too. Man, that was important. What a
- 22:48Speaker 1: crazy story that is. Yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 2: So there's frat boys at Penn State that were just
- 22:52Speaker 2: caught with this big giant cocaine ring.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Mark, you know about this, right? Yes. Yeah.
- 22:57Speaker 2: So like pledges were bagging cocaine, cutting cocaine. When I
- 23:02Speaker 2: keep hearing this on the news, pledges were cutting cocaine.
- 23:05Speaker 1: What does that mean?
- 23:05Speaker 2: You get a big ass rock of cocaine and you're
- 23:07Speaker 2: taking a knife and chopping it up.
- 23:09Speaker 1: That's what that is.
- 23:10Speaker 4: And that, and you might add in baking soda or
- 23:13Speaker 4: something like that.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Really? Dilute it.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Wow.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 4: That's like when they would say in the TV shows
- 23:19Speaker 4: that they cut it with baking soda, something that's what
- 23:22Speaker 4: they mean.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Wow.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Yeah. So the other thing I heard is- That was
- 23:24Speaker 1: part of their hazing, right?
- 23:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Whatever it's called.
- 23:28Speaker 2: The way that they were caught is these kids were
- 23:32Speaker 2: using their Venmos with their real names on them.
- 23:35Speaker 1: With their real names. That's how they got caught. So stupid.
- 23:38Speaker 1: That's how they got caught. Did you hear about that
- 23:41Speaker 1: one kid who got caught? Like the cops showed up
- 23:43Speaker 1: and they thought that they were pranking him. He didn't
- 23:45Speaker 1: even realize it was real. He thought they were fucking
- 23:47Speaker 1: with him. Really? Yeah. And he had like eight grams
- 23:50Speaker 1: of Coke and eight ounces of marijuana and all this
- 23:53Speaker 1: other stuff.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Also, like I look at the mug shots for these
- 23:56Speaker 2: kids and I'm like, man, is it me? Or do
- 23:58Speaker 2: they look like 12 years old? They look like 12
- 24:00Speaker 2: year old drug Lords.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I mean, they look so young.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I just think that, and I know that there's like
- 24:05Speaker 2: science behind this, but man, kids look freaking young today.
- 24:08Speaker 2: You know, it's weird.
- 24:09Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 24:10Speaker 2: You look at yearbooks from years ago and everybody looks
- 24:12Speaker 2: like they're in their thirties, except they're 16, you know, but.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Now like everybody just looks little now. I was visiting
- 24:18Speaker 1: my parents yesterday and I looked up on the wall
- 24:20Speaker 1: and I said that picture and my.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Mom goes, how, how many years ago is that now?
- 24:24Speaker 2: I said, well, I was no, I said, you know
- 24:25Speaker 2: what year I graduated high school? She's like, no, I don't.
- 24:28Speaker 1: And I was like, Oh, well, uh, that was 24
- 24:31Speaker 1: years ago. And she goes 24. Huh? And I go, yeah.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And I look like a lawyer in that picture. Like
- 24:36Speaker 1: I was a full grown lawyer in that picture. Yeah. It's, it's, it's,
- 24:39Speaker 1: it's wild. Anyway, that's all I had. Did you think
- 24:43Speaker 1: about anything aside from hanging out with a bunch of
- 24:46Speaker 1: squares over the weekend?
- 24:49Speaker 2: How would you describe a square for somebody that doesn't
- 24:51Speaker 2: know what a square is? I don't even know if
- 24:52Speaker 2: I know how to describe a square. Somebody that's just like,
- 24:54Speaker 2: you know, not fun.
- 24:55Speaker 1: They're a complete wet blanket attitude, you know. They don't
- 24:58Speaker 1: like to do anything fun. They don't smoke weed. You know,
- 25:05Speaker 1: a bunch of squares. I don't know. I don't know.
- 25:07Speaker 2: I don't think that square might be a bad, harsh
- 25:10Speaker 2: way of putting it for these people.
- 25:12Speaker 1: They just, you know.
- 25:14Speaker 2: They'd rather go to the Ren Faire dressed like buffoons,
- 25:16Speaker 2: but they want to do it sober, which, I mean, geez,
- 25:18Speaker 2: I'll dress up, but I'm going to have to get
- 25:19Speaker 2: fucked up.
- 25:21Speaker 4: I don't think you're going to get invited again after
- 25:23Speaker 4: this episode comes out.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Trivia Tangents. TAC.
- 25:28Speaker 3: The Blazed and Confused Podcast with Becker and Joe.
- 25:33Speaker 1: I'm going to ask you questions. I'm going first? Yeah.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Question number one. All right, moving on. Here we go.
- 25:40Speaker 1: What is the only U.S. state Name that ends with
- 25:44Speaker 1: the letter K. Kansas. That ends with the letter K. Oh,
- 25:50Speaker 1: ends with the letter K. Final answer. Ends with the
- 25:52Speaker 1: letter K. Yeah. There's one of them. You do have
- 25:56Speaker 1: Mark as a lifeline. Ends with the letter K. Alaska.
- 26:02Speaker 1: What's the only U.S. state name that ends with the
- 26:05Speaker 1: letter K?
- 26:06Speaker 2: I wish that I knew the song. You know, there's
- 26:08Speaker 2: a song to like name all 50 states. And they
- 26:12Speaker 2: go in alphabetical order, and I never learned this.
- 26:14Speaker 1: I don't know that song. There's a lot of words
- 26:15Speaker 1: in it. It's tough. Lyrically challenging. So far, you've landed
- 26:20Speaker 1: on Kansas, which we've established is wrong. Yeah, I know.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Any other guesses? I don't want to go to my
- 26:27Speaker 1: lifeline on the first question, but.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Oh, man. The next categories are music, sports, religion. I'll
- 26:39Speaker 1: go to my lifeline. Mark? What's the only U.S. state
- 26:42Speaker 1: that ends with the letter K? There's one of them. Oh, no. Oh, man. Oh, no.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Huh.
- 26:52Speaker 1: He's like, Mark. Well, that's my name. That's not a
- 26:55Speaker 1: state name.
- 26:55Speaker 2: I'm going to Google a list of states.
- 26:59Speaker 1: No. Don't cheat. I'm really having a hard time thinking
- 27:03Speaker 1: of it. There's only one?
- 27:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I can't even think of one.
- 27:06Speaker 4: How many could there possibly be? I'm surprised there's even one.
- 27:08Speaker 1: 10 seconds. Yeah, I really don't know. I'm going to
- 27:13Speaker 1: get it wrong. I have no idea. The only U.S.
- 27:15Speaker 2: State that ends in the letter K is what? It's
- 27:20Speaker 2: two states over.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Two states. Kentucky? That also doesn't end with a K.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It starts with a K.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Go east.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Go east. Go East. New York. New York. New York. Oh,
- 27:31Speaker 1: my God. The only one. I was trying to think
- 27:36Speaker 1: of one word that ended with a K.
- 27:39Speaker 4: New York.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I was thinking of one word, too. That's not
- 27:42Speaker 1: a trick question, but it was tricky. A little bit, yeah.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Very good. Go to the next one? What do you mean,
- 27:48Speaker 1: not really? Question two. Should I congratulate you or ChatGPT?
- 27:53Speaker 1: That was not ChatGPT. Or Reddit. I don't use it.
- 27:57Speaker 1: All right. Really? Where'd you come up with that one? Uh,
- 27:59Speaker 1: I follow these trivia people on Instagram. So which ones? Brady,
- 28:05Speaker 1: your tutor. Awesome. I'm going to know. Oh no, don't
- 28:08Speaker 1: do that. Um, all right, here we go. Fell for
- 28:12Speaker 1: it too. What musician died at the age of 42
- 28:16Speaker 1: in 1977? Elvis Presley. Final answer.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I mean, Elvis died in Elvis died in 1977. I
- 28:26Speaker 2: know that for sure. I don't know if he was 42, though.
- 28:28Speaker 2: That seems kind of young. I thought he was older
- 28:30Speaker 2: than that, but maybe not.
- 28:32Speaker 1: What musician died at the age of 42 in 1977? Yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 1: I'm going to say Elvis. Oh, you got it right.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Son of a bitch. He did look older than that, though. Yeah,
- 28:47Speaker 1: it's because he was on those hoppers and doing drugs.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 1: That's the way he went, right? He was on a toilet.
- 28:55Speaker 1: He was on the toilet. Yeah, that's the urban legend
- 28:58Speaker 1: of Elvis. So it didn't happen? No, it did. No,
- 29:02Speaker 1: it did. Yeah, he passed out on the toilet. Does
- 29:04Speaker 1: that make it an urban legend? No, that's true. Okay.
- 29:08Speaker 1: So it did happen. No, it did happen. So then
- 29:11Speaker 1: it's not an urban legend. I'm not sure.
- 29:13Speaker 4: I think that they confirmed he died in the bathroom.
- 29:15Speaker 4: I think that people put him on the toilet in
- 29:17Speaker 4: their minds. I mean, what else are you doing in
- 29:19Speaker 4: the bathroom? Obviously, he was on the toilet.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Taking a bath. He was probably brushing his hair. On
- 29:23Speaker 1: the hopper he went. 1977. Ready for the next one? Yeah,
- 29:28Speaker 1: that was easy. Question three. What is the national sport
- 29:34Speaker 1: of Japan? Taekwondo. You don't have.
- 29:40Speaker 2: a lifeline remaining oh that's bullshit he didn't answer he
- 29:44Speaker 2: didn't know it he went.
- 29:45Speaker 1: To him he didn't say anything no that's not how
- 29:47Speaker 1: it works yeah it is you get one lifeline that's
- 29:50Speaker 1: not how it works you give me so much shit
- 29:52Speaker 1: for asking my lifelines you.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Know what yeah exactly so if you ask your lifelines
- 29:56Speaker 2: a billion questions i'm gonna ask mine all right national
- 29:58Speaker 2: sport of japan Man, I really do think it's like
- 30:03Speaker 2: Taekwondo or something.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Karate. One of those.
- 30:08Speaker 2: I just watched Forrest Gump again. One of my favorite movies.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Maybe it's ping pong. Didn't he go to Japan for
- 30:13Speaker 2: ping pong or something like that?
- 30:15Speaker 1: You just watched it. Yeah, I didn't. I don't remember.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I mean, like a couple of days ago, my short
- 30:21Speaker 2: term memory loss is becoming more of a problem.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Why is that? You and I both know the answer
- 30:27Speaker 1: to that question. Yeah, it's this show. I'm certainly not helping.
- 30:32Speaker 1: What is the national sport of Japan called? Taekwondo. I
- 30:37Speaker 1: keep coming back to that. I want to say Taekwondo. Wrong. Karate? No.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Interpretive dance. Think of larger people. Oh, sumo wrestlers? Sumo wrestling, yeah.
- 30:52Speaker 1: National sport of Japan. Did you know that, Mark?
- 30:54Speaker 3: Yes.
- 30:57Speaker 1: No lifelines left.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Wow, that's the national sport. I think you'll get this
- 31:00Speaker 2: next one, though. I think the difference between sumo wrestling
- 31:03Speaker 2: and regular wrestling is that they're big. Well, it's a
- 31:07Speaker 2: completely different form of wrestling as well.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Is it though?
- 31:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Is it? Besides those two huge differences, yeah. How do
- 31:12Speaker 1: you know that? Have you watched sumo wrestling? I've seen
- 31:14Speaker 1: it before. Yeah, of course.
- 31:16Speaker 4: Do you know the two sumo wrestlers charge towards each
- 31:19Speaker 4: other and grapple? In a regular wrestling in the United States,
- 31:24Speaker 4: don't they begin like they're both on the floor already?
- 31:26Speaker 1: Or they're both like, yeah, touching the floor or something. Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I think so. I don't know.
- 31:33Speaker 2: I've never watched sumo wrestling. Yeah, we're not a sports podcast.
- 31:36Speaker 2: We shouldn't be talking about this. We're not experts in
- 31:38Speaker 2: that department. This is a political podcast.
- 31:40Speaker 1: No, it's not. No, not that either. Question four. Twenty. What?
- 31:48Speaker 1: What religious group were the first major European settlers in Utah?
- 31:54Speaker 1: In Utah? Oh, come on. This is easy. Mormons. Mormons.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Mormon, yeah, Mormon Tabernacle Choir. They got the goods, man.
- 32:04Speaker 2: I like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
- 32:06Speaker 1: That's hard to say. Good for you. Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
- 32:09Speaker 1: What religious group were the first major European settlers in Utah? Yeah, Mormons. Yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 1: All right, fine. Got it right. Yeah. Three for four. Yeah. No, two.
- 32:21Speaker 1: You got two right. No, I guess you got three right.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Sumo wrestling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Did I get that right? No,
- 32:25Speaker 1: you didn't get that right. He said Taekwondo.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Taekwondo.
- 32:27Speaker 1: This is not a scorekeeping podcast either. All right. Let's
- 32:31Speaker 1: see how many you get right. I got some good questions.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Once again, none of them. Question number one. I think
- 32:36Speaker 1: we should do all four questions. Music. Great. What do
- 32:40Speaker 1: you think?
- 32:41Speaker 2: I'm going to have four lifelines. No, I'm not going
- 32:44Speaker 2: to do that to you. Actually, I'm going to do
- 32:46Speaker 2: two questions, music and then movies and science.
- 32:51Speaker 1: What do you want first? Science. Okay.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Name the planet in our solar system. With the highest
- 32:57Speaker 2: surface temperature. Name the planet in our solar system with
- 33:04Speaker 2: the highest surface temperature.
- 33:06Speaker 1: That's hard. I feel like it would be the one
- 33:09Speaker 1: closest to the sun, right? Do you know which one
- 33:14Speaker 1: is closest to the sun?
- 33:15Speaker 3: No.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I don't do space, man. I think space is boring.
- 33:18Speaker 1: You know this by now. I'm going to go with Mercury.
- 33:21Speaker 1: It's the closest one. Venus.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Venus.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Rhymes with penis.
- 33:28Speaker 2: But I mean, you got it wrong. Why is that
- 33:31Speaker 2: one hotter than Mercury?
- 33:32Speaker 1: All right.
- 33:33Speaker 2: So it says here, according to my notes, Venus. Mercury
- 33:37Speaker 2: is indeed closest to the sun, but the thick atmosphere
- 33:41Speaker 2: on Venus, it traps the heat with surface temperatures of
- 33:44Speaker 2: 869 freaking degrees.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Wow. Fahrenheit. We're Fahrenheit, right?
- 33:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why do they even have to give
- 33:53Speaker 1: the number with the C? I don't care about that number,
- 33:55Speaker 1: you know? The rest of the world does. I know,
- 33:56Speaker 1: that's the problem. We're the only people that don't. I know,
- 33:58Speaker 1: I know, I know. And we're hated because of it.
- 34:01Speaker 1: And other things. I don't understand. What do they call that?
- 34:03Speaker 1: The metric system?
- 34:06Speaker 3: Well.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Right? Yeah, that's the metric system, isn't it? The metric
- 34:09Speaker 1: system is, yeah. Celsius. Well, and also... Kilograms.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kilos.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Because sometimes I... Like those Penn Staters. They dealt in kilos,
- 34:19Speaker 2: I think, didn't they? Sometimes I press the wrong button
- 34:21Speaker 2: on my Jeep and I look down and it's like,
- 34:23Speaker 2: oh my God, I'm driving 189 miles an hour. And
- 34:25Speaker 2: then it's like, oh shit, I pressed the wrong thing
- 34:28Speaker 2: and it's on.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Are we... Wow, we're really the only ones that
- 34:32Speaker 1: don't use that. Yeah. Can't believe they haven't changed that yet.
- 34:35Speaker 1: We're in changing season. It's the America system. Question two.
- 34:46Speaker 1: All right, what do you got? You got music. I'm asking. Yeah.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I was about to say, where's your question? It's my turn. Okay. Yeah,
- 34:54Speaker 1: I got two music questions or movies. Let's do music.
- 35:00Speaker 1: All right. Let's see here.
- 35:03Speaker 2: What iconic classic rock song starts with the line, I
- 35:07Speaker 2: was born in a crossfire hurricane?
- 35:09Speaker 1: Okay.
- 35:17Speaker 2: What iconic classic rock song starts with the line, I
- 35:21Speaker 2: was born in a crossfire hurricane?
- 35:26Speaker 1: Would it help if I sing it? Maybe. I was
- 35:29Speaker 1: born in a crossfire hurricane.
- 35:32Speaker 2: That's like the phrasing. What iconic classic rock song starts
- 35:38Speaker 2: with the line, I was born in a crossfire hurricane?
- 35:44Speaker 1: The steam is going to come off his head. He
- 35:46Speaker 1: ain't getting this one right. Mark, do you know? Nope.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I'm not going to go with him. Do it again.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Sing it again. One more time. I was born in
- 35:59Speaker 1: a crossfire hurricane. I feel like I can hear this.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Sort of, yeah. But it's all right now. It's back
- 36:09Speaker 1: to some good. Yes, yes, yes. Man, I'm really helping.
- 36:15Speaker 1: You got it wrong. I'm helping you too much. Jumping
- 36:19Speaker 1: Jack Flash. I was trying to think of who was by.
- 36:22Speaker 1: The Rolling Stones. He wouldn't have gotten that one either.
- 36:26Speaker 1: That's double wrong. I was focusing on that versus the actual... Anyway,
- 36:31Speaker 1: I got it wrong. That was fucking hard. Let's do
- 36:34Speaker 1: another music watch. All right, so this one.
- 36:38Speaker 2: That really made me think when you read the lyrics
- 36:40Speaker 2: like that. This one's really going to make you think too.
- 36:42Speaker 2: This one, I came up with this myself because I
- 36:44Speaker 2: thought you're never going to get this, but I want
- 36:46Speaker 2: to submit this question to Jeopardy because this could be
- 36:49Speaker 2: a Jeopardy question.
- 36:50Speaker 3: All right.
- 36:50Speaker 2: The category is trios minus one. Trios minus one. When
- 36:57Speaker 2: they lose their lead singer and bass player, it's just
- 37:00Speaker 2: Andy and Stuart.
- 37:03Speaker 1: What's the band? What is the question again? So it's
- 37:10Speaker 1: trios minus one is the category. Trios minus one.
- 37:13Speaker 2: When they lose their lead singer and bass player, it's
- 37:17Speaker 2: just Andy and Stuart.
- 37:21Speaker 1: What's the band? So it's a three-person band. It's a trio.
- 37:24Speaker 2: When you take away one, the main guy, you're left
- 37:28Speaker 2: with one guy named Andy and another guy named Stuart.
- 37:31Speaker 1: What's the band? I have no fucking idea. I want
- 37:36Speaker 1: to go with Mark, but he doesn't look like he
- 37:38Speaker 1: has any fucking idea either. The music buffs would know this. Oh,
- 37:44Speaker 1: my God. I'll give you a big hint. I mean, like.
- 37:48Speaker 2: The lead singer and bass player. That right there should
- 37:51Speaker 2: be a huge hit in a trio. And he's a
- 37:53Speaker 2: lead singer and bass player. He plays bass and sings
- 37:56Speaker 2: at the same time. And he had a very, very,
- 38:00Speaker 2: very big solo career. Which pretty much coincided with the
- 38:05Speaker 2: end of this band. It overlapped a little bit, but.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Mark, any idea? Lifeline? No.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Joel and I don't listen to the same music. Trios
- 38:17Speaker 2: minus one. When they lose their lead singer and bass player,
- 38:19Speaker 2: it's just Andy and Stuart.
- 38:20Speaker 1: What's the band? I have no idea. Correct answer is
- 38:23Speaker 1: The Police. Because Sting is the lead singer. Wow. That's hard, man.
- 38:29Speaker 1: So Andy Summers on guitar and Stuart Copeland on drums.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Submit that. Jeopardy. Yeah, it was very good. See? Yeah.
- 38:35Speaker 1: I like the format of that. Thank you very much.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Very well done. Thought of that today when I was
- 38:39Speaker 1: mowing my lawn. Oh, yeah. Trios minus one.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Cool.
- 38:41Speaker 1: We should do more of those. No. Question four. All right. Movies,
- 38:47Speaker 1: last but not least.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Also could have been categorized as a question I would
- 38:51Speaker 2: never get correct. Also kind of a music question, though.
- 38:54Speaker 1: All right.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise was the iconic theme for which 1995
- 39:01Speaker 2: film starring Michelle Pfeiffer?
- 39:04Speaker 1: Easy. You already used your lifeline. I hate to break
- 39:09Speaker 1: it to you. I do know it. I just haven't
- 39:11Speaker 1: thought of it in forever. I'm just going to focus here.
- 39:13Speaker 1: No hints. He's fucking around. He knows it. No, I don't.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Stop. God, it's so easy. He's a movie guy. Dangerous Minds.
- 39:22Speaker 1: He was nervous. I had to go back there. I
- 39:26Speaker 1: haven't seen that movie in a long time. real quick
- 39:28Speaker 1: yeah yeah really a lot of pressure on this.
- 39:32Speaker 2: That's three years before i was born would i like
- 39:34Speaker 2: that movie yes what's it about uh troubled youth.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Will you like that movie yeah absolutely you should.
- 39:43Speaker 2: You should watch that movie about minds that are dangerous
- 39:46Speaker 2: yes i have a dangerous mind too you do i
- 39:49Speaker 2: do what else we have to do i don't know
- 39:51Speaker 2: that was four questions oh i did pretty well i
- 39:53Speaker 2: think right yeah did you get any correct no i
- 39:57Speaker 2: got the last one right dangerous okay so you got
- 40:00Speaker 2: one out of four pretty good Again, for a podcast
- 40:03Speaker 2: that doesn't keep score, we're keeping score a lot as
- 40:05Speaker 2: of recently. These are weird questions for a political podcast.
- 40:08Speaker 2: This is not a political podcast. Educational podcast. People podcast.
- 40:13Speaker 2: People podcast. Tropical Mark.
- 40:14Speaker 1: If you want to go on a trip with him,
- 40:16Speaker 1: or not with him, but you can book through him,
- 40:18Speaker 1: markr at tripguy.com. That's a little plug before we do
- 40:21Speaker 1: the Munchie Minute. I got a new snack I have
- 40:23Speaker 1: not tried yet. Oh, wow. You want to eat?
- 40:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 40:26Speaker 1: It's time to eat. It's time for.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Dude I found these Chex Mix Muddy Buddies peanut butter
- 40:36Speaker 1: and chocolate coated with Chex snack thing man oh my
- 40:40Speaker 1: god these look so freaking good I've been wanting to
- 40:43Speaker 1: eat these they've been on my counter for days I
- 40:45Speaker 1: usually let you dig in first but I'm going first
- 40:47Speaker 1: Chex Mix what Muddy Buddies Muddy Buddies.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Peanut butter and chocolate naturally and artificially flavored coated Chex
- 40:56Speaker 2: snack very good sounds very heavy Like you gain 10
- 41:01Speaker 2: pounds when you eat it.
- 41:03Speaker 1: It's so good. Make sure you pass them to Mark.
- 41:05Speaker 1: There are a lot of varieties of Chex Mix these days.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Again, though, if I'm going to eat the Chex Mix,
- 41:11Speaker 2: I want the salty kind. There's like, yeah, large varieties
- 41:15Speaker 2: of everything. Companies like Oreos are putting out like weird things.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Somebody sent me a picture today saying, here's an idea
- 41:22Speaker 2: for the podcast. And it was Oreos, but they were
- 41:26Speaker 2: artificially flavored like chicken and waffles. And I was like,
- 41:29Speaker 2: that's fucking weird.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Wait, Oreos flavored as chicken and waffles? Yeah. Well, we'll
- 41:33Speaker 1: probably try it. Maybe we'll get them for next week. Oh, man, really?
- 41:37Speaker 2: Oreos, why do you got to screw with them? Why
- 41:39Speaker 2: can't we just get the regular ones and move on
- 41:41Speaker 2: with our life? Like, you know, I don't even need
- 41:43Speaker 2: the double stuffed. I don't want any of that. I
- 41:44Speaker 2: want the regular, plain, classic Oreos.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more. I couldn't agree more. What about
- 41:48Speaker 1: with the green filling? No, even that. I mean, that
- 41:52Speaker 1: tastes the same at least, so... I don't know. These
- 41:55Speaker 1: are pretty good, though. There's too many varieties of Oreos now.
- 41:58Speaker 1: There's too much variety of anything. You're right. Anything. You're right. Soda.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Like fried chicken flavored soda. What the hell are we
- 42:06Speaker 1: going to do next? Why? This is stupid. I'm such
- 42:09Speaker 1: a purist when it comes to stuff like that. I
- 42:11Speaker 1: even like vanilla ice cream. Oh, I like vanilla. I
- 42:14Speaker 1: like mint chocolate chip dogs.
- 42:15Speaker 2: If you had to pick between vanilla and chocolate, what
- 42:16Speaker 2: would you pick?
- 42:19Speaker 1: Can I have a little bit of both? No. One
- 42:21Speaker 1: or the other. Like you're in school. Probably vanilla. Yeah.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I would pick vanilla too.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:25Speaker 1: What about you, Mark? I really liked the swirl. The swirl.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:28Speaker 1: A little bit of both. I do too. If that's
- 42:30Speaker 1: an option, I would go with that. Yeah. I'll take vanilla.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Can I have a little bit of caramel on it
- 42:34Speaker 1: or something? Oh, caramel. Yeah. Caramel topping. Yes. All the time.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Can't go wrong. I like peanut butter. I like peanut butter,
- 42:41Speaker 1: like swirl stuff in your ice cream, like peanut butter sauce. Oh,
- 42:45Speaker 1: it's so good.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Um, real quick before we get out of here, I, uh,
- 42:50Speaker 2: made a major adulting move today.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Went out to Lowe's and bought a new lawnmower. Did
- 42:54Speaker 1: you like a real one, like a real one?
- 42:57Speaker 2: And, uh, you know, being a homeowner, I like before
- 43:01Speaker 2: I own this home, I always told people that I
- 43:04Speaker 2: would never move to a house because I don't want
- 43:06Speaker 2: to deal with a yard. And now every time I
- 43:09Speaker 2: go to mow the lawn, I think, Oh my God,
- 43:11Speaker 2: I hate this.
- 43:11Speaker 1: This is awful.
- 43:13Speaker 2: And furthermore, I hear a lot of people say, well,
- 43:16Speaker 2: at least when I mow my lawn, I get like
- 43:19Speaker 2: so much satisfaction.
- 43:20Speaker 1: At least it looks so nice when you're done.
- 43:22Speaker 2: And I just have yet to feel that sense of
- 43:25Speaker 2: how my yard looks.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I just feel like every time now that I mow
- 43:29Speaker 2: my lawn, it's like an instant flashback to when I was,
- 43:33Speaker 2: 14 years old and my father made me mow the
- 43:36Speaker 2: lawn for one summer and then realized that i sucked
- 43:39Speaker 2: at it and i was so bad at it because
- 43:40Speaker 2: it's just like i i miss a bunch of spots
- 43:43Speaker 2: i don't know what it is i can't like stay
- 43:44Speaker 2: on a straight line it's there's like literally go walk
- 43:47Speaker 2: around my yard go walk around my yard easy though
- 43:50Speaker 2: it's really not though this yard is a pain in
- 43:52Speaker 2: the ass man it's like there's too much shit going
- 43:55Speaker 2: on here there's plants there's planners there's this there's that
- 43:59Speaker 2: you can't just go in straight lines it's like amazing
- 44:01Speaker 2: here you.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Know so how's your new lawnmower Not great. No?
- 44:05Speaker 2: No, because I texted my dad right away and I said, look,
- 44:07Speaker 2: I bought this lawnmower. And he goes, oh, is it self-propelled?
- 44:10Speaker 2: And then I'm looking.
- 44:11Speaker 1: It's not. So, yeah. You're probably like, oh, I thought
- 44:14Speaker 1: I got a good deal on it. That's why. I did.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Because you got to use all your body weight to
- 44:17Speaker 1: push it. That's another reason why I don't think I
- 44:19Speaker 1: liked it. It'll be good exercise for you. It's all right.
- 44:22Speaker 2: It's not even that heavy. It's like, I don't know.
- 44:24Speaker 2: The other one that I had wasn't self-propelled either. But
- 44:27Speaker 2: I guess the lawnmower growing up that he... you know,
- 44:30Speaker 2: that I used growing up.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I'm surprised you don't have one of these. I filmed
- 44:32Speaker 1: this this morning. We did not plan this conversation at all,
- 44:35Speaker 1: but I saw one of these on my walk this morning.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Okay.
- 44:39Speaker 2: So he's showing me a video of one of those robot.
- 44:42Speaker 2: It's like a Roomba, but instead of a vacuum, it's
- 44:44Speaker 2: a lawnmower.
- 44:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:47Speaker 1: I've seen this thing. How lazy do you got to be?
- 44:51Speaker 1: It's not even that big of a yard. Yeah. It'd
- 44:54Speaker 1: probably take him five minutes. I got a robot doing
- 44:56Speaker 1: all the hard work. Good God. You know what though?
- 44:59Speaker 1: If you want to book a trip, you get a
- 45:01Speaker 1: real human being with TripGuy.com. Mark is our guest today,
