- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Telugu with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 192! Lucas: We've covered a lot of practical stuff — markets, restaurants, auto rickshaws. Luna: And now we're heading to the bank? I've been wanting this. Lucas: Today we'll learn how to exchange money. It's a common need when traveling. Luna: Oh, perfect. Let's say I want to exchange dollars for rupees. Lucas: Right. So you'd say: నేను డాలర్లు మార్చుకోవాలి. Luna: Nenu daalarlu maarchukovaali? That's a mouthful. నేను డాలర్లు మార్చుకోవాలి. Lucas: Good try. Let's break it down. నేను means 'I'. డాలర్లు is 'dollars'. మార్చుకోవాలి means 'need to exchange'. Luna: So literally 'I dollars need to exchange'. Got it. నేను డాలర్లు మార్చుకోవాలి. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you're not sure whether they do currency exchange, ask: మీరు కరెన్సీ మారుస్తారా? Luna: Meeru currency maarustharaa? 'Do you exchange currency?' Lucas: Exactly. మీరు is 'you', కరెన్సీ is 'currency', మారుస్తారా is 'do you exchange'. Luna: మీరు కరెన్సీ మారుస్తారా? And then I need to say 'I need rupees'. Lucas: Yes. నాకు రూపాయలు కావాలి. That's 'I need rupees'. Luna: Naaku roopayalu kaavaali. నాకు రూపాయలు కావాలి. Lucas: And a very useful phrase: మార్పిడి రేటు ఎంత? — 'What is the exchange rate?' Luna: Maarpadi reytu enta? మార్పిడి రేటు ఎంత? That's important. Lucas: Let's practice a mini dialogue. Imagine you walk up to the counter. Luna: Okay. నేను డాలర్లు మార్చుకోవాలి. Lucas: The teller asks: మీరు ఎన్ని డాలర్లు మార్చుకోవాలి? — 'How many dollars do you need to exchange?' Luna: Oh, I need to know numbers for that. We learned them earlier. Maybe I'll say 'only a hundred'. Lucas: Right, you could say: నాకు వంద డాలర్లు మార్చుకోవాలి. Luna: Naaku vanda daarlu maarchukovaali. That's 'I need to exchange a hundred dollars'. Lucas: Exactly. Then ask: మార్పిడి రేటు ఎంత? Luna: మార్పిడి రేటు ఎంత? Lucas: And the teller says: ఒక డాలర్కు ఎనభై రూపాయలు. 'Eighty rupees per dollar'. Luna: That's a good rate! Then I can say: సరే, నాకు రూపాయలు కావాలి. Lucas: Yes. 'Okay, I need rupees.' Perfect. Luna: I love how these phrases build. It feels real. Lucas: Let's review the four key phrases together. Repeat after me: నేను డాలర్లు మార్చుకోవాలి. Luna: నేను డాలర్లు మార్చుకోవాలి. Lucas: మీరు కరెన్సీ మారుస్తారా? Luna: మీరు కరెన్సీ మారుస్తారా? Lucas: నాకు రూపాయలు కావాలి. Luna: నాకు రూపాయలు కావాలి. Lucas: మార్పిడి రేటు ఎంత? Luna: మార్పిడి రేటు ఎంత? Lucas: Good work. Now let's do one more scenario: you want to exchange at a hotel or a money changer. Luna: Same phrases work, right? Because they all involve currency exchange. Lucas: Exactly. Just replace the counter with whoever is helping you. Luna: Great. So if I'm at a hotel: మీరు కరెన్సీ మారుస్తారా? Lucas: And they might say no. Then you need to find a bank or an approved exchange. Luna: But at least I can ask, right? Lucas: Right. Now, if today's phrases helped you feel more confident, that's exactly what we're here for at Fexingo. Luna: Totally. Luna: మీరు కరెన్సీ మారుస్తారా? Lucas: 'I need rupees.' Luna: నాకు రూపాయలు కావాలి. Lucas: 'What is the exchange rate?' Luna: మార్పిడి రేటు ఎంత? Lucas: Excellent.
