- 0:15Speaker 2: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Every comes in and he's like, yes, don't tell anybody,
- 0:21Speaker 3: but I just heard from since you did the birl's
- 0:24Speaker 3: going to practice outside.
- 0:24Speaker 2: You hear Dan Roach like talking.
- 0:26Speaker 3: About, Hey, you know, I just heard from Mike Petragli
- 0:28Speaker 3: and he said.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Everybody, you know, maybe our football teams listening, but they
- 0:34Speaker 1: thought this is the game because they're not worried about
- 0:37Speaker 1: the Patriots pass rush. Put that idea where he was
- 0:41Speaker 1: going the bulletin board.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Thank god, sister, she took care of the grandkids. There
- 0:47Speaker 4: you go, Mom and dad.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going to be the worst uncle ever A dad.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Great uncle. Thank you.
- 0:54Speaker 5: Daddy's gotta watch film.
- 0:57Speaker 1: This is called Nickel until even gave me a hard
- 1:00Speaker 1: drive Christmas.
- 1:02Speaker 5: She hate her too.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I I haven't heard her.
- 1:04Speaker 5: What it was on the same thing, what shows on
- 1:07Speaker 5: the very same thing NFL Live. I have no idea,
- 1:10Speaker 5: but you are doing right now what Steven A. Smith
- 1:13Speaker 5: is accusing Drake may have doing being intentional.
- 1:15Speaker 1: At time, I don't even know, yes he does.
- 1:18Speaker 6: It's on the Twitter now he's calling me a liar.
- 1:21Speaker 5: I didn't say that you're a liar, said you're being
- 1:23Speaker 5: intentionally I had.
- 1:25Speaker 4: You have to go out of your way to not
- 1:26Speaker 4: know that.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I know Sanders had a really horrible game. I didn't
- 1:30Speaker 1: see it, but he never played with the service before.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It was just awful.
- 1:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:36Speaker 8: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals, buy a Toyota
- 1:39Speaker 8: dot com.
- 1:42Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:47Speaker 1: at Jillette Stadium, and we are ten and two. When
- 1:52Speaker 1: I say we, I mean the Patriots. But that's we.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So that's that's the good news. The good news is
- 1:58Speaker 1: we got out of where will be Cincinnati with a win,
- 2:03Speaker 1: but not unscathed. So we are officially into the grind
- 2:08Speaker 1: of the NFL season, last five game stretch. We still
- 2:12Speaker 1: haven't had our buy and so we saw some injuries
- 2:18Speaker 1: on Sunday, and that seems to be the big topic
- 2:21Speaker 1: coming out of it. But I don't think it should be. No,
- 2:23Speaker 1: I really don't. I think the fact that this pain
- 2:26Speaker 1: this team is ten and two, they're at least one
- 2:29Speaker 1: if not two years ahead of schedule. They've got this
- 2:32Speaker 1: young quarterback who we need to talk about how we
- 2:34Speaker 1: started the game. We do need to talk about that.
- 2:36Speaker 1: But I think, I think this is a team set
- 2:41Speaker 1: up that at least in the near term, we'll be
- 2:43Speaker 1: able to weather the grind.
- 2:46Speaker 7: I hope.
- 2:46Speaker 3: So, I mean, I you know, I look, it felt
- 2:49Speaker 3: to me like this is a team kind of limp
- 2:51Speaker 3: into the finish line of the bye week, and how
- 2:53Speaker 3: is it going to look now when we get to
- 2:54Speaker 3: Monday night. Can they somehow just find some energy somehow,
- 2:59Speaker 3: you know, not get to the giants yet.
- 3:01Speaker 2: But they got run all over. They've gotten run all
- 3:03Speaker 2: over again.
- 3:03Speaker 3: We're talking about another historically bad element of a defense
- 3:06Speaker 3: like we did last week. It didn't matter last week,
- 3:08Speaker 3: but maybe it can matter this week. Maybe they can
- 3:10Speaker 3: run the ball a little bit and you know, manage
- 3:12Speaker 3: the game that way. But no, it's it's great what
- 3:15Speaker 3: they've done, but I just feel like now it's like
- 3:17Speaker 3: just grind out one more win, get to eleven, buy
- 3:20Speaker 3: and then get to the by and try to like
- 3:22Speaker 3: regroup and get re energized. And it just to me,
- 3:25Speaker 3: and I don't know how you guys felt, you were there,
- 3:27Speaker 3: but it seemed like they just were and the injuries
- 3:30Speaker 3: were part of it. But it was, you know, one
- 3:32Speaker 3: of those wins where we got the win, but man,
- 3:33Speaker 3: it took.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It took a lot. While I think they obviously left
- 3:37Speaker 1: points on the board and points on the table, I
- 3:39Speaker 1: mean they didn't put them on the board. Yeah, they
- 3:42Speaker 1: had opportunities to score more points, to move the ball better.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Early Drake just was off for whatever reason. He was
- 3:49Speaker 1: just off, you know, we credited to just you know,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I don't know what did he say was the reason
- 3:55Speaker 1: just not thinking not you know, thinking too much?
- 3:58Speaker 4: Maybe I didn't really say anything really, just.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I thought he said on best when I just you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: get rid of the ball. And I think that to
- 4:08Speaker 1: me insinuated that he was just thinking too much. Like
- 4:11Speaker 1: whatever he saw he didn't trust, you know, like for example,
- 4:15Speaker 1: that throw to Hunter Henry that he over like he
- 4:19Speaker 1: was wide open, like I like I remember sitting there saying, oh,
- 4:22Speaker 1: he's open, and the ball just sailed over his head.
- 4:25Speaker 2: What was that?
- 4:26Speaker 3: Do you have any theory on that though, Like he
- 4:27Speaker 3: just the wrong side or was just the bad throw.
- 4:30Speaker 4: I think that you could probably just chock it up
- 4:32Speaker 4: to a bad throw. But there's a little bit of
- 4:35Speaker 4: everything going on with that play. I think we can
- 4:38Speaker 4: we can take that formation for now and let's junk
- 4:41Speaker 4: it all right. You know, they they only had four
- 4:45Speaker 4: offensive linemen blocking on the play. They had Ben Brown
- 4:49Speaker 4: flexed out wide as a non eligible offensive lineman at
- 4:55Speaker 4: this point in the game, and they were trying to
- 4:57Speaker 4: set up a little screen to Trayvon Henderson. It seemed
- 5:00Speaker 4: like on the outside where he had Ben Brown as
- 5:03Speaker 4: a LEA were talking about the pick six.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Oh, the pick six. I wasn't talking about that play,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but go ahead, Oh what play were you I was
- 5:09Speaker 1: talking about where? Oh? Maybe I thought it was just
- 5:13Speaker 1: an incomplete Maybe it was the pick stick.
- 5:14Speaker 5: I think it was the I don't think there were
- 5:16Speaker 5: too many completions to Hunter Henry in his game.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So it must have been the pick six. I just yeah, yeah, okay,
- 5:21Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Yeah, So that's okay, So the pick six. You know,
- 5:25Speaker 4: I think the play was designed to throw it out
- 5:27Speaker 4: to the screen to Henderson if they had the numbers.
- 5:30Speaker 4: I mean, why else would you put a lineman out
- 5:32Speaker 4: there unless that was the design of the play. And
- 5:35Speaker 4: I think what ended up happening is, you know, hunter,
- 5:37Speaker 4: Henry just kind of flashed open in the middle of
- 5:39Speaker 4: the field, and he just saw it and tried to
- 5:42Speaker 4: layer it in there and and airmailed it. And when
- 5:44Speaker 4: you airmail it in this league, over the middle of
- 5:46Speaker 4: the field going back the other way. Yeah, and so
- 5:50Speaker 4: maybe there was a little bit of you know, Henry
- 5:53Speaker 4: kind of bent it in and he might have thought
- 5:55Speaker 4: he was just going to keep going up the scene.
- 5:57Speaker 1: But no, it went right over his head. So it
- 6:00Speaker 1: wasn't like behind him or in.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Front of him. No, it was a little behind him.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Really. From where I was sitting, it looked like, like
- 6:06Speaker 1: I said, I sat up, I'm like, oh my god,
- 6:08Speaker 1: he's open. And then he saw him too.
- 6:10Speaker 4: But yeah, when you see it from when you see
- 6:13Speaker 4: it from the end zone angle, it's behind him. So
- 6:16Speaker 4: I thought maybe Henry kind of like bent it around
- 6:19Speaker 4: the linebacker, and so maybe he was kind of thinking
- 6:22Speaker 4: bending a little bit, like almost like a seam bender.
- 6:24Speaker 4: But Drake may wanted him to go straight up the scene.
- 6:27Speaker 4: I'm just saying that that could have if you want
- 6:29Speaker 4: to find a way to make an excuse that it
- 6:31Speaker 4: wasn't just a bad throw, you know. That was probably
- 6:34Speaker 4: the one thing I thought of that maybe it could
- 6:35Speaker 4: have been, but all in all, like he's everyone, so
- 6:39Speaker 4: he's allowed to have a bad throw like it's not
- 6:41Speaker 4: you know, it happens, they move on, and I was
- 6:44Speaker 4: encouraged by how he bounced back for the most part
- 6:47Speaker 4: from it. You know, sometimes you throw a pick six
- 6:50Speaker 4: like that, an ugly interception that can ruin the entire day.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Now the quarterback just goes, especially young quarterback, just goes
- 6:57Speaker 4: into the the crap or the rest of the day.
- 6:59Speaker 4: And and he didn't.
- 7:00Speaker 1: So I don't think even the rest of the day,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I don't think he was that accurate. But he did
- 7:06Speaker 1: recover enough.
- 7:07Speaker 6: To made enough plays to win the game.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, which I think is a testament to him
- 7:12Speaker 5: and the team for showing the toughness that they've shown
- 7:15Speaker 5: I think in all twelve games.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, really yeah, I mean a game start a
- 7:21Speaker 1: game like this last year and forget about it.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah you know, yeah, I know. The start was I mean,
- 7:24Speaker 2: something seemed weird from the beginning. I don't know.
- 7:26Speaker 3: And were they doing like a close up of the
- 7:28Speaker 3: of Drace like grip on the ball or something. Were
- 7:29Speaker 3: they talking about that, Like I couldn't On.
- 7:32Speaker 4: The third play, of the game when Jared Wilson went
- 7:36Speaker 4: out of the game. I think it was the third
- 7:38Speaker 4: or fourth play Jared Wilson went out and they ran
- 7:41Speaker 4: a little interior twist inside against Ben Brown and they
- 7:45Speaker 4: didn't pick it up and his arm got hit as
- 7:49Speaker 4: he was throwing the ball. As his arm was moving forward,
- 7:52Speaker 4: Drake took a pretty big hit on his throwing arm,
- 7:56Speaker 4: like his more like his bicep than his hand. I
- 7:59Speaker 4: know some people were talking about his hand, but it
- 8:01Speaker 4: was more about like his actual doing a little of this. Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 4: and I wonder if maybe it hit the funny bone
- 8:05Speaker 4: or something like that, and he was like kind of
- 8:08Speaker 4: like got tingly and lost a little grip in his hand.
- 8:11Speaker 4: So if you want to look for something like that,
- 8:14Speaker 4: I think that was probably the play that maybe led
- 8:18Speaker 4: to him having a Sometimes you just can't like feel
- 8:21Speaker 4: your hand or it gets tingly or something like that.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Yeah, well that could be part of it.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 1: But the other thing that we need to talk about
- 8:29Speaker 1: is this red zone offense. Many how many times did
- 8:33Speaker 1: they have inside the like at least seven opportunities inside
- 8:37Speaker 1: the five to score.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Well, if you can bin the two red zone drives,
- 8:40Speaker 4: they had nine nine or ten. The first one was
- 8:44Speaker 4: eight plays. But yeah, I mean, look, I guess I
- 8:52Speaker 4: have a little bit of a different tone from this game,
- 8:53Speaker 4: but we can talk about the red zones.
- 8:55Speaker 5: I have a different tone on the red zone specific
- 8:57Speaker 5: I think the red zone problem was specific to this game.
- 9:00Speaker 5: I don't think this has been a major problem all year,
- 9:02Speaker 5: but evidently everybody else does well.
- 9:03Speaker 4: They're twentieth in red zone offense.
- 9:05Speaker 6: Okay, so I'm wrong.
- 9:07Speaker 4: But at the same time, and I thought, I think
- 9:09Speaker 4: Vrabel said this yesterday on EEI like, you have a
- 9:11Speaker 4: very arbitrary like when you're inside the twenty, like it, Like,
- 9:16Speaker 4: so if we score a touchdown from outside the twenty,
- 9:18Speaker 4: then that doesn't count towards our red zone stats, but
- 9:21Speaker 4: we still score a touchdown. I don't like that argument, right, So, like,
- 9:25Speaker 4: I hear what he's saying with that. But their goal
- 9:29Speaker 4: to go red zone offense in Tampa struggled a little bit. Now,
- 9:33Speaker 4: they did get it in on the fourth down play
- 9:35Speaker 4: before halftime, but it took them four tries to get
- 9:38Speaker 4: it in and then they struggled a little bit this week.
- 9:41Speaker 4: But watching it back this week, I thought it was
- 9:45Speaker 4: more about execution than it was about play calling. I
- 9:47Speaker 4: know a lot of is being made out of the
- 9:49Speaker 4: play calling, but like the first trip down into the
- 9:54Speaker 4: red zone, you know, just starting from the beginning, they
- 9:58Speaker 4: he throws a little swing pass in the flat to
- 10:00Speaker 4: Travon Henderson, and I love Travon Henderson, but I'm sorry
- 10:03Speaker 4: that you you have one on one in space against
- 10:05Speaker 4: the linebacker. Score a touchdown, dude, Like make the guy
- 10:08Speaker 4: miss and get into the end zone.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Uh.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Then he drops back on a play action play from
- 10:13Speaker 4: underneath center and he trips on Mike on wend who
- 10:15Speaker 4: coming out from underneath center. And so Hunter Henry's open.
- 10:19Speaker 5: According to the broadcast, So was the change in the
- 10:21Speaker 5: offensive line that caused that? You know, like the uncertainty
- 10:24Speaker 5: with no no was that played every snap of every game? Yeah?
- 10:28Speaker 4: Right, and it happens like these things happens all the time.
- 10:32Speaker 4: But you know he's coming out from underneath center, he
- 10:36Speaker 4: stumbles coming out, tripping on his offensive line. Hunter Henry's
- 10:40Speaker 4: open on the corner route for an easy touchdown, and
- 10:43Speaker 4: he can't get it to him fast enough because he's
- 10:46Speaker 4: stumbling and bumbling. So you have that play. Then you
- 10:49Speaker 4: know the fourth down play that they stop the inside run.
- 10:53Speaker 4: It's an RPO. I thought he probably should have kept
- 10:56Speaker 4: it and thrown the ball out in the flat to
- 10:58Speaker 4: Hunter Henry who was open for a touchdown, and staid
- 11:00Speaker 4: he gave the ball to Ramandre Stevenson probably it's bang
- 11:03Speaker 4: bang play it so those are hard to read, but
- 11:06Speaker 4: it probably was better to keep it than to hand
- 11:08Speaker 4: it to Remandre on that particular play. So I thought
- 11:11Speaker 4: that there and then the pick play, you know, which
- 11:14Speaker 4: it's gonna get called. But the defender was burned and
- 11:17Speaker 4: had no chance, so it's kind of annoying. Let's see
- 11:20Speaker 4: held his shirt before the Oh, there was a collision,
- 11:23Speaker 4: and that's gonna get called. But at the same time,
- 11:26Speaker 4: I thought it was a really nice cell job by
- 11:29Speaker 4: the corner who went like ah and then like you
- 11:32Speaker 4: know that sort of thing. And you know, so those
- 11:35Speaker 4: are four plays that I just mentioned in that a
- 11:38Speaker 4: play sequence where they had touchdowns on all four plays
- 11:43Speaker 4: right there, and they just weren't able to execute it.
- 11:46Speaker 4: So you can you can take a you know, the
- 11:48Speaker 4: coaching is part of that, right, like you have to
- 11:50Speaker 4: practice and you have to be able to execute down there.
- 11:53Speaker 4: But I didn't think that this was like, oh, the
- 11:55Speaker 4: Bengals really just like had the clamps on their red
- 11:57Speaker 4: zone offense. I thought this was just kind of a.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Did the Tonka injury happen prior to those red zone
- 12:02Speaker 2: posessions too? It's just something that's off out of the play.
- 12:05Speaker 4: But he was also healthy for Tampa and they couldn't
- 12:08Speaker 4: score on the goal line against Tampa. Like, to me,
- 12:10Speaker 4: this all kind of goes back like, if you need
- 12:12Speaker 4: to get one yard, you have to be able to
- 12:15Speaker 4: run the ball in. You have to be able to
- 12:17Speaker 4: run the ball in from the one, whether that's a
- 12:19Speaker 4: sneak or it's an actual run, Like there's no excuse
- 12:22Speaker 4: to not be able to run to pick up a yard.
- 12:24Speaker 4: And that's it.
- 12:25Speaker 5: And there was one thing that Drake said after the
- 12:27Speaker 5: game that sort of resonated with me and made me
- 12:29Speaker 5: think of some of these different plays, specifically the ones
- 12:32Speaker 5: down there, and Evan just sort of talked about he
- 12:34Speaker 5: thought one of them might have been an RPO, which
- 12:37Speaker 5: would makes sense. And Drake said, you know, I got
- 12:39Speaker 5: to be better at the line of scrimmage. And I
- 12:41Speaker 5: think there were times where the Bengals sort of dramatically
- 12:44Speaker 5: shifted at least once it led to a timeout because
- 12:48Speaker 5: they weren't ready. Another time it led to them running
- 12:52Speaker 5: right into the shift. You know, looked like he was
- 12:55Speaker 5: not comfortable with that. So I wonder if maybe, like
- 12:58Speaker 5: the RPO, maybe he thought he was getting something else
- 13:01Speaker 5: ultimately didn't. And as Evan says, you know, it's kind
- 13:03Speaker 5: of easy when we watched the phone. Jeez, if you
- 13:05Speaker 5: had just pulled it there, Yeah, he probably has Hunter
- 13:07Speaker 5: Henry wide open.
- 13:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 5: Did you wonder if that's what Drake is talking about,
- 13:11Speaker 5: maybe some of the stuff that he saw pre snap
- 13:13Speaker 5: didn't end up happening.
- 13:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Did you find that interest that when they as soon
- 13:16Speaker 3: as they put Stevenson up to kind of protect against
- 13:18Speaker 3: the mug, that they then have the guy sprint to
- 13:20Speaker 3: the other side and then just had a free run.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I mean that's yeah, because I think the first time
- 13:24Speaker 3: they did it, Drake noticed it and he seemed to
- 13:26Speaker 3: like acknowledge it.
- 13:27Speaker 2: But still nobody nobody.
- 13:28Speaker 6: Think it wasn't Will Campbell's fault. He blocked the guy.
- 13:31Speaker 5: Yeah, now, if Will Campbell goes to the outside and
- 13:33Speaker 5: gets the blitzer, the other guy comes.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Right now, yeah, right now. Numbers wise like they would
- 13:39Speaker 4: have overloaded either side. So I don't know exactly what
- 13:45Speaker 4: the coaching point would be to adjust the protection. I
- 13:47Speaker 4: saw what you guys saw at the safety start on
- 13:50Speaker 4: one side. They put his Stevenson up and he ran
- 13:52Speaker 4: to the other side. But they still would have like
- 13:55Speaker 4: they still would have overloaded the right side if he
- 13:57Speaker 4: had came off the right side. But I think they
- 13:59Speaker 4: saw the opportunity need to come to the blind side,
- 14:01Speaker 4: so they moved them over. But you know, I give
- 14:04Speaker 4: some credit to the Bengals like this, wee too. They
- 14:06Speaker 4: were well coached in this game. They had a good plan.
- 14:09Speaker 4: They they really did some things in this game that
- 14:12Speaker 4: they hadn't done before, some unscouted looks and things like that.
- 14:17Speaker 5: I agree with you on that. I thought the Bengals
- 14:19Speaker 5: played hard in this game. And I would say it
- 14:21Speaker 5: was funny because Mike and I were looking at it
- 14:23Speaker 5: and we were like, the Bengals either have a really
- 14:26Speaker 5: good play on defense or they just decided to not
- 14:28Speaker 5: cover Hunter Henry. There was no in between. I think
- 14:31Speaker 5: they did a pretty good job on the receivers. I
- 14:32Speaker 5: don't think I didn't see a lot of wide open guys.
- 14:35Speaker 5: I mean, even the best throw of the day for
- 14:37Speaker 5: Drake may down the scene to to to Mario Douglas
- 14:41Speaker 5: was not an easy throw like that was kind of
- 14:44Speaker 5: a tight window.
- 14:46Speaker 4: You know, Fred that one of the pole runner. So
- 14:49Speaker 4: the linebackers the pole runner. Yeah, I wish you know, listen,
- 14:53Speaker 4: whole shot poll runner. Like I don't name these things,
- 14:56Speaker 4: it's just what they are.
- 14:58Speaker 5: So who does the whole shot? I remember people talking
- 15:02Speaker 5: about when I was in high school. I never heard
- 15:03Speaker 5: about what do you call it? It's called the pole
- 15:05Speaker 5: runner like a pole like a pole hole.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Yeah. So you know it's Cover two right too high
- 15:16Speaker 4: safety and then uh you know Tampa two, which is
- 15:20Speaker 4: you know, the dungee version.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Uh.
- 15:21Speaker 9: They they they have now they designed a way uh
- 15:27Speaker 9: to combat three vertical routes from Cover two because the
- 15:33Speaker 9: issue that they were having was is that they were
- 15:35Speaker 9: just running a guy right through the shoot between the
- 15:37Speaker 9: two safeties and there's not a third guy high to
- 15:41Speaker 9: take that.
- 15:41Speaker 4: So now that they have is this is the pole runner.
- 15:45Speaker 4: The linebacker. He's now basically part of the deep part
- 15:49Speaker 4: of the zone. So if the inside receiver in the
- 15:51Speaker 4: slot runs a vertical, he's going to carry the vertical
- 15:54Speaker 4: up the middle of the field. Pole runner. You know,
- 15:58Speaker 4: you also you'll hear a lot three is three, So
- 16:01Speaker 4: if three verticals happen, then you basically kind of turn
- 16:04Speaker 4: it into cover three essentially.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Great Catch twenty two.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Sorry, were doing a crossover episode.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Yeah, so yeah, that's that's the parlance.
- 16:12Speaker 7: Okay.
- 16:13Speaker 4: I like three up is three is one of my favorites.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So they managed, they figured out how to win. They
- 16:18Speaker 1: figured out how to get out of Cincinnati with a win.
- 16:21Speaker 1: That's the most important part. They're ten and two. They're
- 16:24Speaker 1: sitting pretty there, I think the number two seed as
- 16:27Speaker 1: we stand. Oh they're one right now.
- 16:29Speaker 6: Yeah, they played more games than everybody else.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Okay, technically okay, but even looking ahead, Denver seems you know,
- 16:37Speaker 1: right now, I would say Denver only has two losses.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, they're tied with Denver.
- 16:42Speaker 1: So but Denver has a much tougher schedule going ahead,
- 16:46Speaker 1: wouldn't you say they do?
- 16:48Speaker 4: Down the stretch. I was looking at this last night.
- 16:50Speaker 4: They have a I want to say they have the
- 16:53Speaker 4: Raiders and one other team coming out of their buy
- 16:56Speaker 4: that that should be easy wins. But then they they
- 16:58Speaker 4: do play the Chiefs, that Chargers, they played, you know,
- 17:02Speaker 4: some tougher teams down the stretch.
- 17:04Speaker 1: So if we can take care of business and win
- 17:08Speaker 1: at least two, you know, uh, three of these last
- 17:11Speaker 1: five games. I think we might get a get a
- 17:15Speaker 1: home field advantage here, but.
- 17:17Speaker 2: A home field game.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Or the Commanders the five cupcake team, So they have
- 17:23Speaker 4: three cupcakes and two tough games. So they have the Commanders,
- 17:26Speaker 4: they have the Commanders, the Raiders, but then they play
- 17:29Speaker 4: the Packers, the Jags, the Chiefs, and the Chargers.
- 17:32Speaker 6: Three tough games, four tough.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Games and two cupcakes. Who Jacks, Packers, Jags, Chiefs, Chargers,
- 17:39Speaker 4: three tough games? Who do you mean three tough games?
- 17:41Speaker 1: Yeah, So I don't know how good the charge are
- 17:43Speaker 1: going to be at that point. Who knows what Jacksonville
- 17:46Speaker 1: is going to be like on our side? Who knows
- 17:49Speaker 1: what Baltimore is going to be like? They don't look
- 17:51Speaker 1: like world beaters, you know, when Jackson's like, he's hurt again.
- 17:55Speaker 5: You know, it's it's conventional wisdom now that Baltimore stinks.
- 17:58Speaker 5: So I'm not worried about that game any more. That's
- 18:00Speaker 5: what I heard this. I heard that too. I heard
- 18:03Speaker 5: that in the radio. I mean, I know, I'm you
- 18:05Speaker 5: guys are gonna make fun of me. I'm always worried
- 18:07Speaker 5: about I'm worried about afraid of that game.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm worried about the Giants game this week.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I'm not worried about You're not worried about it. No,
- 18:14Speaker 1: you don't think there's any way they can lose this game?
- 18:16Speaker 5: Well, there's always a way you can lose a game. Yeah,
- 18:18Speaker 5: you could turn the ball over five times.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Did you think there was a way they lose the
- 18:21Speaker 1: Cincinnati Uh?
- 18:23Speaker 5: Yeah, really Yeah, Like.
- 18:25Speaker 1: You were more worried about Cincinnati than the Giants.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Significantly more interesting not me. I mean, I respect Cincinnati's talent.
- 18:33Speaker 5: I don't think the Giants none of it was on
- 18:34Speaker 5: the field, but little tap ball Ultimately when the game ended,
- 18:37Speaker 5: that was true, and that was like largely the difference.
- 18:41Speaker 5: But I think that if you have take T Higgins
- 18:44Speaker 5: out there and Joe Flacco gets hot. Now, Joe Flacco
- 18:47Speaker 5: didn't get hot, he didn't have one of his games,
- 18:49Speaker 5: but I respect his ability to do that. I don't
- 18:51Speaker 5: really respect the Giants' ability with a two to ten
- 18:56Speaker 5: record to really do anything.
- 18:58Speaker 1: But the Giants have been scoring points, right, they lose
- 19:02Speaker 1: it last week and losing.
- 19:04Speaker 6: Leads, They've blown a lot of leads.
- 19:05Speaker 5: That is correct five times to score leads in the
- 19:08Speaker 5: fourth quarter they got It's an amazing stat.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Yeah, they got rid of amazing defensive coordinator. So do
- 19:14Speaker 1: they get that interim defensive coordinators? Is what I'm wondering.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I don't know if that's a thing.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you can lose any game in the league.
- 19:21Speaker 5: There's I mean, I'm not telling you there's not a
- 19:24Speaker 5: huge difference.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And what about the spot.
- 19:25Speaker 5: You know, you've played great spot for the people played.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Thirteen games in a row, so they got to buy ahead.
- 19:31Speaker 1: It's like, oh, you know in.
- 19:33Speaker 5: Your home and they're not. I know, so you have
- 19:35Speaker 5: the advantage. It's a good spot for you.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. I'd like to get
- 19:40Speaker 1: other opinions on that.
- 19:41Speaker 2: The piece for me is Winston gonna players are gonna
- 19:43Speaker 2: be Dart.
- 19:44Speaker 5: That's what would you rather face? The Patriots?
- 19:46Speaker 1: Winston me too, a hundred times over.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Really, and I know him, I don't know.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I was leaning Dart, to be honest.
- 19:53Speaker 5: Before you see dark and run around make plays and
- 19:56Speaker 5: you never know, he might have one of those wild
- 19:57Speaker 5: games where he makes some plays with his feet and
- 20:00Speaker 5: all of a sudden he's in it. Jameis Winston's going
- 20:02Speaker 5: to give you three or four opportunities every game. You
- 20:04Speaker 5: know that that's his history. I don't know what Dart's
- 20:07Speaker 5: going to do because I don't I don't know why.
- 20:09Speaker 4: I mean, they also scored fourteen points on two trick
- 20:11Speaker 4: plays against the Lions. I'm with you, guys. I actually
- 20:16Speaker 4: I watched Dart was it the Bears game was his
- 20:19Speaker 4: last game, I think before he got hurt. I was
- 20:21Speaker 4: pretty impressed.
- 20:22Speaker 6: He's played pretty well.
- 20:23Speaker 4: Now, A lot of it is quarterback run stuff, and
- 20:27Speaker 4: that's he's not going to last. That's why he's constantly
- 20:30Speaker 4: in concussion protocol, so that that's maybe that gets taken
- 20:33Speaker 4: off the table when he comes back from this concussion,
- 20:35Speaker 4: and that limits them. I mean they're running like, you know,
- 20:38Speaker 4: like QB counter and like they're like running him by design,
- 20:42Speaker 4: and I don't think he's going to be able to
- 20:44Speaker 4: hold up. But his like play extension, his ability, his
- 20:47Speaker 4: downfield you know, passing pretty good, pretty good.
- 20:51Speaker 1: So yeah, I agree, I think I'd rather have Jameis Winston.
- 20:55Speaker 1: But getting back to my opening monologue, I think that
- 20:59Speaker 1: this is a tough stretch here for the team in
- 21:01Speaker 1: terms of injuries and just you know, getting to the
- 21:03Speaker 1: end of the season. But I do think that this
- 21:06Speaker 1: team mentally is equipped to handle that. This is this
- 21:11Speaker 1: is a united team, and you know, one of your guys, dudes,
- 21:15Speaker 1: Ben Voleen, mentioned that in the in the postgame locker room,
- 21:20Speaker 1: it seemed that Rabel was really toned down, like I
- 21:24Speaker 1: think he forgets. They just got off a FaceTime call
- 21:26Speaker 1: with a teammate who was going through something, and they
- 21:30Speaker 1: had a lot of injuries. They know, they didn't play
- 21:32Speaker 1: their best, and so I think Rabel had the right tone,
- 21:35Speaker 1: you know. And I think the players want more, they
- 21:39Speaker 1: expect more, and but I think they're all in this together.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I think they're bought into Rabel. They're calling you know,
- 21:45Speaker 1: they call them coach Rabes. Carlton Davis, I think he
- 21:49Speaker 1: had a quote just recently he said he's never been
- 21:51Speaker 1: on a team that seemed more together than this team.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I like that aspect of this of the and I
- 22:00Speaker 1: really look at that as as a plus going forward.
- 22:04Speaker 4: So we have the power of friendship.
- 22:06Speaker 5: No, I'm with Fred. Yeah, I think that's the number
- 22:10Speaker 5: one thing they have going for them. I think they're
- 22:11Speaker 5: very connected. The team is very connected. And I think
- 22:15Speaker 5: sometimes that can make up for you know, some personnel
- 22:18Speaker 5: issues here or there. We'll see.
- 22:20Speaker 6: I'm with Fred.
- 22:21Speaker 5: I think Josh McDaniels and Doug Maron will do a
- 22:24Speaker 5: good job scheming their way around this. This is not ideal.
- 22:27Speaker 5: I'm not telling you that it's not a big deal
- 22:29Speaker 5: to lose your left tackle on your left guard and
- 22:31Speaker 5: you're probably going to be without them for at least
- 22:33Speaker 5: I'm going to say a month. That's not ideal. I'm
- 22:37Speaker 5: not pretending that that's not an issue. I just have
- 22:39Speaker 5: confidence that they'll figure out a way around it.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and to your point, Paul, the coaching this year,
- 22:45Speaker 1: it's better set up to you know, to handle that
- 22:48Speaker 1: than last year.
- 22:49Speaker 2: That's what interests me.
- 22:49Speaker 3: I mean with you know, Brian Burns coming in, and
- 22:52Speaker 3: you know also Abdul Carter who half sacked but active
- 22:55Speaker 3: and disruptive. You know, I don't think Thibodau is gonna play,
- 22:58Speaker 3: but they've got some players off the edge everything.
- 23:01Speaker 2: They have talked.
- 23:02Speaker 5: About him a little of this morning, and you probably
- 23:06Speaker 5: talk more about him than than us. He's he's a
- 23:09Speaker 5: really good player.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Yeah, Dexter Lawrence is one of my favorite.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Dexter Lawrence to be on the sideline.
- 23:14Speaker 5: That's what he is when when when games are being played,
- 23:16Speaker 5: which is why Shane Bowen no longer has a job.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I got that from our friend don Uh.
- 23:22Speaker 6: You don't want to talk to don.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I wonder at that.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I mean, I know Dexter Lawrence is a crazy player,
- 23:26Speaker 3: but seeing not Godshaw. But you know, like the old defense,
- 23:30Speaker 3: they wanted a big guy inside Shane Bowen there with
- 23:33Speaker 3: interior penetrator kind of types. Is that you know, is
- 23:35Speaker 3: he not really their type?
- 23:36Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I'm just speculating that's worked well.
- 23:40Speaker 4: I think he's he's their type. He's even though he's
- 23:43Speaker 4: a big dude, he does he plays more up the uphill.
- 23:47Speaker 4: He's more of a disruptor, more of an uphill vertical threat.
- 23:51Speaker 4: I don't think that this is, you know, plugging gap.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Whatever whatever the teams are doing in the fourth quarter
- 23:57Speaker 1: to the Giants the Patriots should do in the first
- 23:58Speaker 1: quarter and keep doing it. The ball they are.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Just getting absolutely shredded on the ground. Now, I'll play
- 24:05Speaker 4: Devil's advocate because some you know, you guys are trying
- 24:08Speaker 4: to but the injuries the Patriots have is a problem,
- 24:12Speaker 4: and I understand this is a great chemistry, great locker room.
- 24:19Speaker 4: But at the same time, you know, watching their defensive
- 24:23Speaker 4: front without Millon Williams against the Bengals was was was
- 24:26Speaker 4: a hard watch. Like they they just did not make
- 24:29Speaker 4: very many plays in the other side of the backfield. Uh,
- 24:34Speaker 4: they didn't make very many plays up front. They got
- 24:36Speaker 4: run on by Cincinnati who hasn't really run the ball
- 24:39Speaker 4: at all all year. Chase Brown had over one hundred
- 24:42Speaker 4: rushing yards. It was a problem, and I think offensively,
- 24:48Speaker 4: I agree that they can probably work around it a
- 24:50Speaker 4: little bit. But at the same time, you know, no
- 24:55Speaker 4: disrespect meant to them, but Vederian Lower and Ben Brown
- 24:59Speaker 4: were two guys that they tried to upgrade from this
- 25:02Speaker 4: offseason in the draft with Campbell and Wilson. The idea
- 25:05Speaker 4: was not to rely on those players like you did
- 25:08Speaker 4: when you won four games the year before. Sure, So
- 25:10Speaker 4: I think a huge part of you know, what has
- 25:13Speaker 4: happened here, along with with Drake May and Rabel and
- 25:16Speaker 4: all the stuff you guys mentioned, is the improvement that
- 25:19Speaker 4: the Trenches have shown this season to last season. They
- 25:22Speaker 4: are a significantly better team on the line of scrimmage
- 25:25Speaker 4: this year than they were last year significantly better, you know,
- 25:28Speaker 4: just across the board, whether it's pass blocking, run blocking,
- 25:31Speaker 4: pass rush, run stuffing, all of it. And you know,
- 25:35Speaker 4: I know, maybe I'm a little bit more on that
- 25:37Speaker 4: side of the street than other people, but that's football.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Like when you have good football, teams don't usually have
- 25:46Speaker 4: bad play in the trenches. It just it said, not
- 25:48Speaker 4: that it never happens. I know, Patrick Mahomes went to
- 25:51Speaker 4: the Super Bowl without his left tackle, I know, but
- 25:54Speaker 4: it's asking a lot. It's asking a lot for Drake
- 25:57Speaker 4: may To in his second season to now still play
- 26:01Speaker 4: at this level without his starting left tackle, like left guard.
- 26:05Speaker 4: I think that they can get away with Ben Brown's
- 26:07Speaker 4: not you know, he's a serviceable backup, and I think
- 26:10Speaker 4: that they could work around it. I do think the
- 26:13Speaker 4: drop off from Will Campbell to their backups I left
- 26:16Speaker 4: tackle is going to be significant, ye And it's more
- 26:20Speaker 4: just like a knock to the bigger picture, honestly, of
- 26:23Speaker 4: where this team could possibly go in the postseason. You know,
- 26:28Speaker 4: if they don't have these guys back healthy and they're
- 26:30Speaker 4: not you know, tied together once the postseason comes around,
- 26:35Speaker 4: it does limit their still quite a bit.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I hear all that. I mean, I think for
- 26:39Speaker 3: me and focuses, just get through this game. You know,
- 26:42Speaker 3: get through this game, have a week off, see what
- 26:44Speaker 3: your health looks like when you get back and you
- 26:46Speaker 3: have to go play Buffalo.
- 26:47Speaker 4: But well, they're not gonna have Bilton Williams like that.
- 26:50Speaker 4: He's gonna be on ir for Buffalo and Baltimore. And
- 26:53Speaker 4: you know, in this game against Cincinnati, like the Bengals
- 26:56Speaker 4: average three yards rushing before contact, like before anybody even
- 27:01Speaker 4: hit him, They're averaging three yards. So if you're doing
- 27:06Speaker 4: that against Buffalo and Baltimore and James Cook and Derrick
- 27:09Speaker 4: Henry like that, that's gonna be really tough.
- 27:12Speaker 2: No good, really tough.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Can I get some water?
- 27:15Speaker 4: Like I kind of look at the offensive line and
- 27:17Speaker 4: think that they can probably maybe figure it out screens,
- 27:21Speaker 4: but defensive line, I have concerns about that, Like, you know,
- 27:26Speaker 4: guys like Farms and Gregory and Dirt and those guys
- 27:29Speaker 4: playing as much as they're going to have to play.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Is a little bit.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Concerning Tonga too. I mean, that's you know, what's what's
- 27:34Speaker 1: up with him?
- 27:35Speaker 5: Yeah, Mike and I talked a little bit in the
- 27:36Speaker 5: pregame show about that, because you get specifically Dirdin and Gregory.
- 27:41Speaker 5: You know those are guys.
- 27:42Speaker 7: You know.
- 27:42Speaker 5: Durdan especially sort of carved out a little bit of
- 27:45Speaker 5: a role. Right He's played I don't know ten snaps
- 27:47Speaker 5: the game, Whatt's call it. I don't know what the
- 27:48Speaker 5: actual numbers. He's been reasonably disruptive, disruptive, but now you're
- 27:54Speaker 5: asking him to maybe take on a larger role. Can
- 27:57Speaker 5: he continue to be disruptive exactly? And you know I'm
- 28:01Speaker 5: not telling you I agree with you. I think bringing
- 28:03Speaker 5: up Tonga is significant because it's not just I think
- 28:07Speaker 5: Tonga's job is to be a run stuffer, you know,
- 28:09Speaker 5: a space eating run stuffer. I don't really think of
- 28:12Speaker 5: Milton Williams and Christian Barmore. As talented as they are,
- 28:14Speaker 5: they're fine against the run, and Milton Williams has been
- 28:17Speaker 5: excellent all season long and whatever they've asked him to do,
- 28:20Speaker 5: but I don't think they're necessarily run stuffing players. Tonga
- 28:24Speaker 5: is so he came out of the game.
- 28:27Speaker 10: You know.
- 28:27Speaker 5: I think Chase Brown's pretty good too, even though they
- 28:29Speaker 5: haven't really run the ball all that much. You saw
- 28:31Speaker 5: in this game they ran it probably a little bit better.
- 28:35Speaker 5: But he's averaged a healthy amount. And that's three games
- 28:37Speaker 5: in a row the opponent's averaged over five yards.
- 28:40Speaker 1: And you said, Evan before the game that they were
- 28:43Speaker 1: throwing the ball seventy percent of the time.
- 28:45Speaker 4: They didn't this game, Yeah, because they were. They're effectively
- 28:47Speaker 4: running it. And you know, I just hurt to give
- 28:51Speaker 4: it to their credit though, to the Bengals, Like they
- 28:54Speaker 4: saw that the Patriots were down Mill Williams already, then
- 28:57Speaker 4: Tonga goes out of the game, and what were they
- 28:59Speaker 4: doing or just running it right up the gut at
- 29:02Speaker 4: the backups on the interior defensive line. So I give
- 29:04Speaker 4: those guys credit. You know, I think that they This
- 29:07Speaker 4: was a pretty well coached game by the Bengals. I
- 29:09Speaker 4: thought that defensively they're pretty buttoned up relatively speaking to
- 29:13Speaker 4: what they have been in the past. And I thought
- 29:14Speaker 4: offensively they hit the buttons there. The Patriots were weaker.
- 29:18Speaker 4: But I just going into the season, the big question
- 29:22Speaker 4: that we all had was, yes, the talent on the
- 29:24Speaker 4: roster is better. Is the depth better and good enough
- 29:29Speaker 4: to withstand injuries? And we haven't really luckily needed to
- 29:33Speaker 4: figure that out, and now we're going to figure that out.
- 29:35Speaker 4: But do they have the depth. Do they have those
- 29:37Speaker 4: players behind their frontline, players that can keep this thing wrong?
- 29:41Speaker 2: Can the coaches get those guys to play up the snuff?
- 29:44Speaker 2: You know?
- 29:44Speaker 3: And I think that's been one of the indictments the
- 29:46Speaker 3: last few years of play along the offensive line is
- 29:48Speaker 3: that they don't really have the coaching. Like, if I'm
- 29:51Speaker 3: looking at something I'm interested to watch, it's how does
- 29:53Speaker 3: now this coaching staff deal with really the first kind
- 29:56Speaker 3: of scramble drill that they're going to have to do.
- 29:58Speaker 3: I mean, losing Milton Williams is one thing, or a
- 30:00Speaker 3: great player inside, but it's one player.
- 30:01Speaker 2: You've got depth.
- 30:02Speaker 3: But now when you've got two offensive linemen that you're
- 30:04Speaker 3: gonna have to put in, you're gonna have to maybe
- 30:06Speaker 3: give some of those guys help.
- 30:07Speaker 1: You know.
- 30:07Speaker 3: These are the things where I think you you really
- 30:09Speaker 3: get a sense of I mean, Paul said a great thing.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I think Mike Vrabel's done an amazing job bringing this
- 30:13Speaker 3: team together and really being that, you know, full crim
- 30:16Speaker 3: in the middle of all these guys. But now you've
- 30:19Speaker 3: got to really coach your butt off and get these
- 30:20Speaker 3: guys to to you know. I mean, this is something
- 30:22Speaker 3: that that Bill got plenty of credit with over the
- 30:24Speaker 3: years when guys had to step up the Randall gaze
- 30:26Speaker 3: of the year, you know, like those you know instances
- 30:28Speaker 3: where it's just it happens in the NFL.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Buffalo's gonna have a bunch of injuries in a couple
- 30:32Speaker 2: of weeks too.
- 30:32Speaker 3: I mean, we saw half their team went down the
- 30:34Speaker 3: other night, So you know, you get down to this
- 30:36Speaker 3: point and I don't know, maybe I'm just out of
- 30:38Speaker 3: practice with having a good team down the stretch, but like,
- 30:41Speaker 3: did you guys feel at times with those Patriots teams
- 30:44Speaker 3: that you knew were going to the playoffs, like they're
- 30:46Speaker 3: not playing their best ball right now. They seem banged up,
- 30:49Speaker 3: They seem like they're kind of like you're seven team.
- 30:51Speaker 3: I remember them just kind of tailing off like they
- 30:54Speaker 3: weren't the same team anymore.
- 30:55Speaker 1: You know, that's all they do is.
- 30:56Speaker 4: That I remember that had that happened too lost And
- 30:58Speaker 4: I'm not like trying to be doing gloom, but like,
- 31:01Speaker 4: the only team that I remember that flip the switch
- 31:03Speaker 4: was eighteen eighteen. That's the only one of the six
- 31:05Speaker 4: Super Bowl teams that wasn't peaking at the end of
- 31:09Speaker 4: the year, And somehow they found.
- 31:10Speaker 3: It and is this just a part that many teams
- 31:13Speaker 3: go through where you know late by et cetera. But
- 31:15Speaker 3: you know, you just you have a little bit of
- 31:17Speaker 3: a doldrum in the middle of the season. That's something common.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Are they late.
- 31:21Speaker 5: In the season or do they not play that well
- 31:23Speaker 5: in Cincinnati. That's the thing I think we're going to
- 31:25Speaker 5: have to learn, because I don't think this game was
- 31:28Speaker 5: indicative of the way they've played, say the last six
- 31:32Speaker 5: I don't I think they played much. I don't want
- 31:36Speaker 5: to say worse because that makes it sound like they
- 31:38Speaker 5: played a crappy game, because I think everything you haven't
- 31:41Speaker 5: said about Cincinnati deserves to be said. I think Cincinnati
- 31:44Speaker 5: showed up, played with some desperation, and I do think
- 31:47Speaker 5: they were prepared on both sides. I think the difference
- 31:49Speaker 5: in the game, quite frankly, was Mike Rabel's game management
- 31:52Speaker 5: compared to Zach Taylor's. Zach Taylor consistently passed up opportunities
- 31:57Speaker 5: to score points by punting, and Mike Rabel didn't get
- 32:02Speaker 5: stubborn after the first time didn't work out down there.
- 32:05Speaker 5: He took the points, take the points, and ended up
- 32:08Speaker 5: Dan Campbell would have lost that game because Dan Campbell
- 32:10Speaker 5: would have just I mean maybe they would just would
- 32:13Speaker 5: have been so much better that Jamiir Gibbs would have scored,
- 32:16Speaker 5: but he would have just kept going for it.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Yeah, going up by ten was important.
- 32:20Speaker 6: I think.
- 32:21Speaker 5: The the one that he did, the one to go
- 32:24Speaker 5: up by seven, I think was important. When it was
- 32:26Speaker 5: seventeen thirteen and after the first debacle down there, he
- 32:30Speaker 5: got down there again. And what I don't even think
- 32:34Speaker 5: was it Henderson that got the third down carry that
- 32:37Speaker 5: time that got stopped. I forget he got the second
- 32:40Speaker 5: down Carrirell Jen I forget.
- 32:42Speaker 4: But second Drake sneaked it on third down.
- 32:45Speaker 5: Rabel had three fingers in his hands before the whistle
- 32:48Speaker 5: even blew on the play. He was disgusted, but he said, no,
- 32:52Speaker 5: I'm going to make this a seven point game, and
- 32:53Speaker 5: I'm going to make sure that they're chasing me. I'm
- 32:56Speaker 5: not gonna you know, throw good money after bad or
- 32:59Speaker 5: whatever the phrase, yes, and continue to bang my head
- 33:02Speaker 5: against the wall. He adjusted to the game. Zach Taylor didn't.
- 33:06Speaker 5: And again I give Zach Taylor credit for having his
- 33:08Speaker 5: team ready to go. You know, a three and sevent
- 33:10Speaker 5: team played, you know, probably a little bit better defensively
- 33:14Speaker 5: than they have most of the year. But I'm sorry,
- 33:17Speaker 5: you can't punt on fourth and one every time, and
- 33:20Speaker 5: fourth and three, you know, in the fourth quarter and
- 33:23Speaker 5: just say, well, we're just going to keep getting the
- 33:24Speaker 5: ball back. At some point you got to go and
- 33:26Speaker 5: try to make a play, and if you don't, you
- 33:28Speaker 5: still got to get the stop. There's nothing, there's no difference.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Is this the first game in a while that they've
- 33:35Speaker 1: won it by just the score?
- 33:40Speaker 5: What does that mean?
- 33:40Speaker 1: Like, you know, less than eight points?
- 33:43Speaker 5: Oh, most of the games have been one score game. Really,
- 33:46Speaker 5: I thought they This is what I'm saying. I think
- 33:48Speaker 5: people have this impression. And I don't mean this negatively.
- 33:52Speaker 5: I mean this is a huge positive for the Patriots
- 33:54Speaker 5: because everything fred said about the togetherness. I totally co
- 33:58Speaker 5: signing with Freddy on this. I think they win these
- 34:02Speaker 5: games and people are like, yeah, they won, they won,
- 34:05Speaker 5: but like they're not playing that well. I'm like, I
- 34:09Speaker 5: don't know what you look, I don't know what you
- 34:12Speaker 5: think they're capable of. That's what I would argue. But
- 34:14Speaker 5: the outliars are Carolina in Cleveland. The normal game is Atlanta,
- 34:19Speaker 5: New Orleans, Tampa. This game against Cincinnati, you know, even
- 34:24Speaker 5: the Jets. I know the Jets ended up a thirteen
- 34:26Speaker 5: point game. We watched that game.
- 34:27Speaker 1: It wasn't a blowout, yep, but they won by thirteen points.
- 34:31Speaker 5: No, I know, but that was one of the few
- 34:32Speaker 5: that was one of the four games they weren't decided
- 34:34Speaker 5: by one score. All the rest were one score games.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Four games we weren't discussed.
- 34:38Speaker 2: The chat got that.
- 34:41Speaker 4: No, it's it's pilot.
- 34:44Speaker 5: Like the outliers are Carolina, Tennessee in Cleveland. You know,
- 34:50Speaker 5: the norm is a one score game. Yeah, and there's
- 34:54Speaker 5: seven and one in those one score games.
- 34:56Speaker 4: I'm less concerned about how they play Sunday in that
- 34:59Speaker 4: game two and more concerned about moving forward without Milton
- 35:05Speaker 4: Williams and Campbell. Like if I had to rank the
- 35:08Speaker 4: players on this team outside of Drake May, who's obvious, Like,
- 35:12Speaker 4: you know, it's like the old Jenga piece thing, Like
- 35:15Speaker 4: if I had to take play, like who is the
- 35:17Speaker 4: biggest blocks that are keeping the tower afloat? Like Campbell
- 35:21Speaker 4: and Million Williams have two of the biggest blocks, Like
- 35:23Speaker 4: I think those two guys because I think for Campbell specifically,
- 35:27Speaker 4: it's what's behind him at left tackle too, that you
- 35:29Speaker 4: have to take into consideration. But with Milton Williams, I
- 35:33Speaker 4: think he's been your best player on defense and it
- 35:35Speaker 4: was noticeable, you know, their front was noticeably worse without him.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I'm going to have to figure that out that that
- 35:41Speaker 1: was just for play.
- 35:44Speaker 5: So there, I'm not whistling past the graveyard pretending there's
- 35:47Speaker 5: no issues. They have some issues. I just feel like
- 35:50Speaker 5: they're going to be able to able to get past them.
- 35:54Speaker 4: Right, But it's not about how this game unfolded in Cincinnati.
- 35:58Speaker 4: It's about right, you have Buffalo, you have Baltimore, you
- 36:00Speaker 4: have playoff games coming up, and that's a whole different
- 36:03Speaker 4: ballgame once you get into those types of level of competition.
- 36:07Speaker 4: Then playing a banged up Bengals team, and if they
- 36:10Speaker 4: don't have Campbell and they don't have Milton Williams, like
- 36:13Speaker 4: those two guys and probably Digs and Gonzalez would be
- 36:16Speaker 4: like the four most important players on the team outside
- 36:18Speaker 4: of May and they're playing without two of them. So
- 36:21Speaker 4: like it just it's a big loss not having those
- 36:25Speaker 4: guys for the bigger picture, Like, I still think they're
- 36:28Speaker 4: gonna beat the Giants and the Jets, and they're probably
- 36:31Speaker 4: gonna still end up with twelve or thirteen wins, and
- 36:33Speaker 4: that's nothing to snim bat.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Maybe the division title too, Yeah, maybe maybe Milton Williams
- 36:38Speaker 3: and Will Campbell.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Are back three might get you that one seed. Fred
- 36:41Speaker 5: might be right because I didn't know about that green
- 36:44Speaker 5: Bay game for Denver. I knew like they had some
- 36:46Speaker 5: division games coming, but that green Bay game as the
- 36:49Speaker 5: odd game. Yeah, that that could mean that that Denver
- 36:52Speaker 5: loses twice. So if you lose twice, it's.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Probably well, I think the final five are in Denver.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Yeah, so it means I don't know what the tiebreaker
- 37:04Speaker 5: situation will look like. It depends on what games the
- 37:07Speaker 5: teams lose. But it is amazing that all the games
- 37:10Speaker 5: fifteen out of out of seventeen games at home for Denver,
- 37:13Speaker 5: I mean, and even.
- 37:13Speaker 1: When they're not home, they're at home. I don't know
- 37:15Speaker 1: how they do it.
- 37:17Speaker 2: They raised the stadium a mile in the air.
- 37:18Speaker 5: Yeah, they're able to play at mile high altitude and
- 37:20Speaker 5: even on the road somehow.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Anyway, all right, so we have calls, We have emails.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Eight five to five. PATS five hundred is the hotline
- 37:30Speaker 1: podcast at Patriots dot Com is the email address the
- 37:37Speaker 1: most people on the blog this year, this season for
- 37:41Speaker 1: this game. But I had to regulate. At one point
- 37:44Speaker 1: people were literally I mean it's words, so you don't
- 37:48Speaker 1: really know how they're feeling, but just from the tone
- 37:51Speaker 1: of the words, people were getting angry angry at the Patriots,
- 37:56Speaker 1: And at some point I just had to regulate and
- 37:59Speaker 1: I had to people, why are you angry? Like, okay,
- 38:03Speaker 1: be frustrated, whatever, but like, we're one or two years
- 38:06Speaker 1: ahead of schedule, we got a young quarterback, they're not
- 38:08Speaker 1: playing that great, they have these injuries, but why the anger?
- 38:12Speaker 1: And then the other thing is I'm embarrassed. Why are
- 38:15Speaker 1: you are they favor are you back in third grade
- 38:19Speaker 1: and they pull down your pants on the day you
- 38:20Speaker 1: forgot to wear underwear? Like why are you embarrassed?
- 38:23Speaker 5: Seemed oddly specific, you know, like, no, it didn't happen.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Those things are exaggerations. But I like, the goalposts have
- 38:33Speaker 4: moved like they're ship. But it's not embarrassing to you,
- 38:37Speaker 4: not embarrassing to you, It's not embarrassing to anybody. The
- 38:40Speaker 4: amount of the game on Sunday was not embarrassing in
- 38:44Speaker 4: any way shape or to the team, to the coaches,
- 38:47Speaker 4: Nobody but the anger is I think they know it's good.
- 38:52Speaker 5: I think that's a good sign because of what Evan's saying.
- 38:55Speaker 5: The goalposts have moved.
- 38:56Speaker 4: They know what it looks like when it's championship caliber.
- 38:58Speaker 4: And this team, I don't know if they're championship caliber yet,
- 39:02Speaker 4: but they've put themselves in a position to be playing.
- 39:05Speaker 1: So what team, at least in the AFC? Why play
- 39:08Speaker 1: teams because we're gonna play one of them, but we're.
- 39:10Speaker 5: Only caring about our team. I understand why the blog
- 39:13Speaker 5: people are upset. They want to play better.
- 39:15Speaker 1: I understand, but no one's playing that great. It's just
- 39:18Speaker 1: kind of the way the AFC is this year. And
- 39:20Speaker 1: of those teams were the best, we're the best.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Do you think you're playing the best of all the teams? Yeah, okay,
- 39:28Speaker 5: I think that some of the fans would disagree with you.
- 39:30Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I mean, game to game, other teams might have had
- 39:32Speaker 1: better games. But I think the body of work, we've
- 39:35Speaker 1: been the best team this year.
- 39:37Speaker 4: But whether it's the AFC or if we're gonna care
- 39:40Speaker 4: to dream and it's whoever they play in the super Bowl,
- 39:42Speaker 4: you were going to play a great team at some point. Really, Yes,
- 39:46Speaker 4: you're gonna play a great team at some point. Okay,
- 39:48Speaker 4: you're gonna play a great team, and you're gonna play
- 39:50Speaker 4: a great quarterback. And you're like, these things are gonna happen.
- 39:53Speaker 4: You're not gonna go. It's not gonna be the March
- 39:55Speaker 4: of the Tomato Cans all the way to the seventh
- 39:57Speaker 4: Lombardi right, Like, they're gonna at some point they're gonna
- 40:00Speaker 4: have to play, you know, a formidable opponent that is,
- 40:04Speaker 4: you know, gonna be up for the challenge and bands
- 40:08Speaker 4: to their you know credit around here, they know what
- 40:11Speaker 4: it looks like when the team is.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I just don't understand the anger, Like it's like, oh man,
- 40:16Speaker 1: we need to play better. I get that, but like angry,
- 40:19Speaker 1: like solve the teams last year?
- 40:23Speaker 3: I mean, you had this ran last year when they
- 40:24Speaker 3: were on a four win seasoned four winds all right,
- 40:29Speaker 3: like sometimes there was some bad football being played. I mean,
- 40:31Speaker 3: I get generally, you shouldn't be embarrassing.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Embarrassing room, Yeah, like why are you embarrassed?
- 40:37Speaker 2: I can't even wear my Patriots stuff. Make fun of me.
- 40:41Speaker 1: A great game last week.
- 40:43Speaker 5: I'm sure you know, traveling around the Greater Boston area
- 40:46Speaker 5: with Patriots gear on.
- 40:47Speaker 6: You're getting mocked and rid.
- 40:49Speaker 3: I'll tell you, if you're walking around with rivalry here,
- 40:51Speaker 3: you might get like proposition to sell it on the spots.
- 40:56Speaker 4: They were going to offer me money for my jack.
- 40:58Speaker 2: It almost market check.
- 41:01Speaker 6: Can you direct?
- 41:02Speaker 4: Where did you get that? I was like, and they're like,
- 41:07Speaker 4: I've been you know, I've been trying to get when
- 41:09Speaker 4: they're sold out everywhere. My son he really wants one.
- 41:12Speaker 4: And I just found myself like kind of you know, walking.
- 41:16Speaker 2: It's gonna set on fire. Yeah, my wife got the
- 41:19Speaker 2: same thing.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Someone going, where can I get this rivalry stuff I
- 41:22Speaker 1: needed for Christmas present?
- 41:24Speaker 2: Good luck?
- 41:24Speaker 1: Yep, they certainly created demand for that one. All right,
- 41:28Speaker 1: so let's get to the phone. Let's see what everyone says.
- 41:31Speaker 1: I hope you're not angry, and I hope you're not embarrassed.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Todd Todd actually it was one of the few that
- 41:37Speaker 5: had this game nailed. He thought this was going to
- 41:39Speaker 5: be that everyone they were going to lose. He thought
- 41:41Speaker 5: they were going to lose.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Todd's at North Carolina. What's up? Todd?
- 41:46Speaker 11: Hey, guys, you know I'm sober now. Fred just you know,
- 41:49Speaker 11: I took the time and composed myself before I made
- 41:52Speaker 11: the call, so I wouldn't be angry or drunk or
- 41:54Speaker 11: you know, a little crazy. So what I saw and
- 41:58Speaker 11: that game and when I think was bought me and
- 42:00Speaker 11: I couldn't really articulate it. Thanks, you know, Paul for
- 42:03Speaker 11: defending me a little bit. I appreciate that, and I
- 42:05Speaker 11: appreciated the good the poke there by you Fred, that
- 42:09Speaker 11: was good too. But what's bothering me is this team
- 42:11Speaker 11: looks tired. I think maybe we've got some veterans who
- 42:15Speaker 11: are pretty much up there in age, and we've got
- 42:17Speaker 11: some young guys who might be the rookie wall. And
- 42:19Speaker 11: I had to make sure that the rookie wall exists.
- 42:21Speaker 11: I went and researched it.
- 42:23Speaker 12: It does exist.
- 42:23Speaker 11: These guys, you know, they hit that wall. They're not
- 42:26Speaker 11: used to this level of games, and maybe that'd even
- 42:28Speaker 11: contributed a little bit to the injuries. I'm you know,
- 42:30Speaker 11: I'm not sure, but they look tired. I don't know
- 42:35Speaker 11: why or how they can deal with that, Like it's
- 42:38Speaker 11: probably because this bias so dang late that it's just
- 42:42Speaker 11: it's too hard on them a little bit right now.
- 42:44Speaker 11: The way the teams compose, because it's been that combination
- 42:47Speaker 11: of veterans and youth that I think has made this
- 42:50Speaker 11: team so so good and right now, I don't know.
- 42:54Speaker 11: I think I almost want to say, play your backups
- 42:56Speaker 11: for the Giants. Take a loss, play up, play your backups,
- 42:59Speaker 11: take the lot.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Just Todd.
- 43:01Speaker 2: We're in a playoff race.
- 43:04Speaker 1: You can't do is critical.
- 43:06Speaker 4: I actually don't think they were. They look that tired
- 43:09Speaker 4: they stopped playing in this game. I don't I actually
- 43:11Speaker 4: thought that their energy pregame and on the sideline just
- 43:15Speaker 4: being there was was really good. And I remember at
- 43:17Speaker 4: one point looking at the Patriots side of the field
- 43:21Speaker 4: in warm ups and then looking at the Bengals side
- 43:23Speaker 4: of the field and warm ups, and one team was
- 43:25Speaker 4: doing its thing and doing what the Patriots do, and
- 43:27Speaker 4: Diggs is breaking down the huddle and all this kind
- 43:30Speaker 4: of stuff, and then the other team on the other
- 43:32Speaker 4: side of the field is kind of just like going
- 43:34Speaker 4: through the motions. And I was like, well, I remember
- 43:36Speaker 4: what it was like to be on the other side
- 43:37Speaker 4: of the field in these games. So it's a late
- 43:41Speaker 4: bye week and that that's obvious to everybody, but I
- 43:45Speaker 4: don't think, you know, kind of the struggles that happened
- 43:48Speaker 4: on Sunday, I don't think that was due to fatigue.
- 43:50Speaker 4: I don't.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Vinnie's in Vegas. What's up, Vinnie.
- 43:55Speaker 13: Hey, guys, Okay, you know, I am not angry or embarrassed,
- 44:02Speaker 13: but I watch a little worried. At the beginning of
- 44:04Speaker 13: the game though, I think that, you know, we're starting
- 44:07Speaker 13: to really see how dependent we on on Drake because
- 44:12Speaker 13: he just didn't look good. So I was like, holy crap,
- 44:15Speaker 13: this is not what's going on. And I think at
- 44:17Speaker 13: this point we're starting to notice that if he doesn't
- 44:20Speaker 13: have the superstar at that moment, the games are going
- 44:25Speaker 13: to be tough. I mean, they're gonna be a slog
- 44:28Speaker 13: you know. And then the other thing. I'm surprised actually
- 44:31Speaker 13: that this is the first game that I saw Carlton
- 44:35Speaker 13: Davis play and actually show, you know, what he was doing.
- 44:39Speaker 13: So I'm happy about that part. But I do think
- 44:41Speaker 13: that we're very reliant on Drake and when he doesn't
- 44:45Speaker 13: have it together and right away we're going to struggle.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of agree with that. I mean, the
- 44:50Speaker 1: team will go as far as Drake will tell them
- 44:52Speaker 1: take them. They don't have a dominant offensive line. They
- 44:55Speaker 1: have a much better offensive line than they had last year.
- 44:58Speaker 1: But it's not dominant that shows in the run game.
- 45:01Speaker 1: So it is up to Drake. It is up to
- 45:03Speaker 1: Drake now that they're banged up too.
- 45:05Speaker 5: And I would agree on Carlton Davis. I thought he
- 45:07Speaker 5: was really good in the game and I thought it
- 45:09Speaker 5: was his best game.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Yeah the sun, oh the one got hurt.
- 45:14Speaker 6: He was really mad.
- 45:15Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a tough call. Like you have two
- 45:18Speaker 4: really physical players like jockeying for positioning down the field,
- 45:22Speaker 4: and like, I didn't think he grabbed or anything. I
- 45:24Speaker 4: think they were just kind of the back.
- 45:27Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 45:27Speaker 1: I don't remember being up in arms on the flag,
- 45:31Speaker 1: like he sort of was on top of him before
- 45:34Speaker 1: the ball got there.
- 45:35Speaker 4: So I wouldn't say up in arms. I just like, like,
- 45:38Speaker 4: if you have two guys that are physical players that
- 45:40Speaker 4: there heavyweights and hearing.
- 45:42Speaker 5: I thought he got the early. I would I'm with Fred.
- 45:45Speaker 5: But I could see I actually teat him up in
- 45:47Speaker 5: the post game. He was our guest in the post
- 45:49Speaker 5: game show, and I said, I asked him about it,
- 45:52Speaker 5: and I saw his face. I knew how upset he
- 45:55Speaker 5: was about it, and I was like, just I stopped
- 45:57Speaker 5: and I said, talk about it. Terrible journalism questions but
- 46:02Speaker 5: his face told the whole story. I know why they
- 46:05Speaker 5: called the penalty, and I think that's gonna be It's
- 46:07Speaker 5: kind of like the offensive interference on Matt Collins, like
- 46:11Speaker 5: when when a defensive back gets pinballed like that, Like
- 46:14Speaker 5: that's gonna be a penalty, whether or not that was
- 46:16Speaker 5: an intent or whatever. He got there a little early
- 46:19Speaker 5: on that on that deep ball, but I think it
- 46:22Speaker 5: was really really good coverage. Yeah, really good coverage.
- 46:25Speaker 4: Yeah, his uh, you know, he took away Flacco's primary
- 46:29Speaker 4: read on the pick six two. He was covering Higgins
- 46:32Speaker 4: on that play, and he took Higgins out of the
- 46:34Speaker 4: play and and Flacco went from the deep route to
- 46:37Speaker 4: the checkdown through right to Marcus Jones.
- 46:40Speaker 6: One of the more laughable plays.
- 46:42Speaker 5: Yeah, Joe said, like you throw high over the middle
- 46:46Speaker 5: and it's going to go that way. Will you throw
- 46:48Speaker 5: late to the That's what's.
- 46:50Speaker 4: Going to happen to Yeah, he was really good. Carlton
- 46:52Speaker 4: Davis was in this game, you know, elt But why
- 46:57Speaker 4: did you have to do that?
- 46:59Speaker 7: Well?
- 46:59Speaker 3: I didn't love to touch Tounty gave up. I mean
- 47:02Speaker 3: right off the I would say and check me if
- 47:05Speaker 3: I'm wrong, But I feel like he was part of
- 47:06Speaker 3: the plan that didn't give up a lot to t Higgins.
- 47:09Speaker 3: But I also just was like, he just got beat
- 47:11Speaker 3: off the line by.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Now in his defense, it's the first touchdown he's given
- 47:16Speaker 4: up all year, and Tinsley like that is the one
- 47:20Speaker 4: route Tinsley can run. He is the one route that
- 47:23Speaker 4: he's actually decent. Decent At a couple of weeks earlier,
- 47:27Speaker 4: he beat uh who was.
- 47:31Speaker 5: Catch?
- 47:32Speaker 4: He beat somebody on the same route.
- 47:35Speaker 15: Release.
- 47:37Speaker 4: You guys are are whistling by the fact that the
- 47:39Speaker 4: left tackle and the DT are out for for extended
- 47:42Speaker 4: period of time. But Aisconsin gives up one catch and
- 47:45Speaker 4: where you know, I.
- 47:48Speaker 5: Believe I specifically said, I'm not whistling past the graveyard
- 47:51Speaker 5: with the losses. But you know, now you'll, like the
- 47:54Speaker 5: other teams, you got to deal with some some of
- 47:57Speaker 5: your personnel.
- 47:58Speaker 6: Being out of the lineup.
- 48:00Speaker 1: I don't think Eldred in North Carolina? What's up, Eldred?
- 48:06Speaker 16: Hey Fellers, how y'all doing all right?
- 48:09Speaker 8: I should have did that.
- 48:10Speaker 16: Because, hey, Paul, I'm leaving our favorite spot, Myrtle Beach.
- 48:14Speaker 5: Nice. Nice.
- 48:16Speaker 16: I'm on five oh one right now heading back out. No,
- 48:23Speaker 16: I brought something for Hobby lobby. They opened up a
- 48:25Speaker 16: new hobby lobby.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Down okay, cross expanding.
- 48:29Speaker 16: Yeah, all right, No, I'm not embarrassed. I'm a little
- 48:32Speaker 16: worried and bred. I'm with you. I don't worried about
- 48:36Speaker 16: the Giant a little bit because they held the Lions
- 48:39Speaker 16: for a little bit and they scored twenty seven points
- 48:41Speaker 16: on them until the what eight minutes of the fourth quarter.
- 48:45Speaker 16: Then that's when that game got away from him, and
- 48:47Speaker 16: they they looked pretty good. You know, what's like I said,
- 48:51Speaker 16: what keeps bothering me is the line a little bit
- 48:55Speaker 16: and the defense, you know, the secondary, the way they're
- 48:59Speaker 16: giving up. And I know Paul and Evan just said
- 49:01Speaker 16: a Dunzo and the one, but Evan, I don't seen
- 49:04Speaker 16: a d Mitchell beat him off. And I haven't seen Kensley.
- 49:07Speaker 16: Well you y'all won't call them nobody, but hey, they
- 49:11Speaker 16: he got burnt twice, and that's kind of work. I
- 49:13Speaker 16: don't know if he played down to day competition or
- 49:15Speaker 16: up and one more thing and I let it go.
- 49:18Speaker 16: I heard Bert Trane and Sola to my office line.
- 49:22Speaker 16: But it's been like in the little twenty twenty six
- 49:26Speaker 16: on Das or whatever on path Rush and on pressures.
- 49:31Speaker 16: I want to take it off the line. Yeah, we
- 49:33Speaker 16: can't run, so I'm just wondering and I take it
- 49:37Speaker 16: off off the air.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Okay, thank you, thanks Eldred.
- 49:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the run game has been all year long. Yeah,
- 49:42Speaker 4: and it's not a line that's necessarily built. I don't
- 49:45Speaker 4: think that way, you know. I do think they have
- 49:48Speaker 4: more athletics.
- 49:49Speaker 1: I think we al though thought that they'd be a
- 49:51Speaker 1: little bit better running team than they are.
- 49:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I do all year. But the coverage I thought
- 49:58Speaker 4: in this game was pretty good. This is probably one
- 50:00Speaker 4: of their better games. As a secondary, I thought it
- 50:03Speaker 4: was fine. I mean they the pressure on Placco and
- 50:06Speaker 4: in the run defense were the bigger.
- 50:08Speaker 5: I don't really have a huge amount of problems with
- 50:11Speaker 5: the defense in this game in general. I know that
- 50:14Speaker 5: the run yards were there. You know what I think
- 50:15Speaker 5: of ren yards generally, they don't lead to points. But
- 50:21Speaker 5: I'm not telling you you you should like I'll give
- 50:24Speaker 5: you like an example of what bothered me in terms
- 50:26Speaker 5: of run defense. After they got stopped on the one
- 50:29Speaker 5: yard line, So you're back on the line and one
- 50:33Speaker 5: one run, Chase Brown gets a first down and they're
- 50:37Speaker 5: out of jail, Like that can't happen, and they did lose.
- 50:40Speaker 5: I thought the perimeter a lot of that game. Three
- 50:42Speaker 5: or four times he got easy yards.
- 50:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that. You know, the the one off
- 50:48Speaker 4: back off the goal line, they tried to slant, they
- 50:51Speaker 4: tried to like run a like a stunt, and they
- 50:54Speaker 4: caught him in the slunt, in the slant, in the stunt.
- 50:57Speaker 4: And like when you have guys, you know, early on
- 51:00Speaker 4: in the season that are getting all these reps together
- 51:02Speaker 4: and are building those chemistries and things like that, and
- 51:04Speaker 4: it's all the same five six seven guys doing it,
- 51:07Speaker 4: and now all of a sudden you look out there
- 51:09Speaker 4: and it's like, you know, Corey Durden and Eric Gregory
- 51:12Speaker 4: and like it. Yeah, just different guys. It's not necessarily
- 51:16Speaker 4: about the talent. It's just you know, when you're trying
- 51:18Speaker 4: to pull off these schemes like it, you know, it's
- 51:20Speaker 4: harder to do and you don't have those reps together
- 51:23Speaker 4: built up over a period of time. You know, in
- 51:26Speaker 4: terms of the pass rush, you know, defensively, until the
- 51:30Speaker 4: last drive where they had to pass the ball, they
- 51:33Speaker 4: only had a fifteen percent pressure rate. I only had
- 51:35Speaker 4: them at fourteen point eight percent. They had four pressures
- 51:38Speaker 4: the whole rest of the game. And now once they
- 51:41Speaker 4: got into that final drive, they started to heat them
- 51:44Speaker 4: up and you know, things like that.
- 51:45Speaker 5: Did you think that they played coverage though for the
- 51:48Speaker 5: most part, because I agree with you, I didn't see
- 51:50Speaker 5: a lot of missed opportunities in the game. I thought
- 51:53Speaker 5: they covered really well. It's hard on TV sometimes to
- 51:56Speaker 5: see all that, but.
- 51:57Speaker 1: You watched all twenty two you can see.
- 51:59Speaker 7: I know.
- 51:59Speaker 5: I I have no interest in see the whole in
- 52:02Speaker 5: watching a game because safety. Everybody will tell me what
- 52:05Speaker 5: I'm supposed to know anyway, so we can move on.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I don't think there's all the more reason
- 52:11Speaker 1: to see it for yourself if you don't trust.
- 52:12Speaker 5: I saw it, okay, but you know, you know, I'm
- 52:16Speaker 5: pretty self for you know, confident, Like I saw the again.
- 52:21Speaker 6: I have my opinion, all right.

- 54:37Speaker 19: good morning, great, Okay, who's up?
- 54:43Speaker 18: I heard you say on the radio that Will could
- 54:45Speaker 18: probably miss multiple games.
- 54:47Speaker 13: We saw the Darien on the left on Sunday, Marcus
- 54:50Speaker 13: Bryan on the right.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Do you expect to continue to use Vadarian?
- 54:53Speaker 4: Would you also consider Marcus, how do you think.
- 54:55Speaker 18: You'll navigate that?
- 54:57Speaker 19: I don't know why I would have an accurate answer
- 54:59Speaker 19: for you right now, just where we're at, probably go
- 55:02Speaker 19: through you know, the week of practice, I thought Verdarien,
- 55:07Speaker 19: you know, I had a couple of good plays and
- 55:08Speaker 19: again he hasn't had to go in there for us.
- 55:11Speaker 19: But I think everybody just has to be ready for
- 55:13Speaker 19: their opportunity, and you know, I thought he was for
- 55:16Speaker 19: the most part. Things will have to continue to work
- 55:19Speaker 19: on and clean up. But you know, just right now
- 55:21Speaker 19: is probably look too soon to figure out what the
- 55:25Speaker 19: what the lineup is going to look like.
- 55:27Speaker 7: I don't know if he's had.
- 55:28Speaker 2: A chance undergo any testing or anything.
- 55:30Speaker 7: But is there anything more you can toss about Will's
- 55:32Speaker 7: injury in the morning, Uh, no, many he'll be.
- 55:35Speaker 19: He won't be out there this week, and uh you
- 55:37Speaker 19: know it's going to be a couple of weeks. We'll
- 55:39Speaker 19: have to make a decision here on a roster, see
- 55:40Speaker 19: how long that'll be and go from there. But it's
- 55:43Speaker 19: nothing that's gonna, you know, hopefully put him out for
- 55:46Speaker 19: this entire season. Yeah, you know, probably too soon to tell,
- 55:57Speaker 19: you know, see how the week of practice goes, or
- 55:58Speaker 19: see how to re app goes, and see how he
- 56:02Speaker 19: responds there.
- 56:05Speaker 10: After yesterdays And you said something along the lines and paraphrasing,
- 56:08Speaker 10: So tell me if I get this rod.
- 56:10Speaker 7: Because I probably didn't mean it either.
- 56:11Speaker 8: So you know about.
- 56:13Speaker 10: How the team, both the players and the coaching staff
- 56:17Speaker 10: and needing to recover faster from things that don't go
- 56:21Speaker 10: your way in game for coaches and mainly for yourself individually.
- 56:26Speaker 3: What does that look like.
- 56:27Speaker 7: We'll just set in the temperature.
- 56:28Speaker 19: I mean, I have to set the temperature for for
- 56:31Speaker 19: what we do and make sure that everybody is you know,
- 56:37Speaker 19: that we understand things change quickly and that everybody has
- 56:39Speaker 19: to be on the you know, on the ready, go
- 56:43Speaker 19: through different lineup changes and personnel groups are up, personnel
- 56:47Speaker 19: groups are down. Field goal protection has got moving parts
- 56:52Speaker 19: and you know we're using fifteen guys on a field
- 56:55Speaker 19: goal protection throughout the course of the game.
- 56:57Speaker 7: That's you know, normally doesn't happen.
- 57:01Speaker 19: And then just understand that, you know, if we give
- 57:03Speaker 19: up an interception and again, how we come back and respond.
- 57:06Speaker 7: We had a scoring drive.
- 57:08Speaker 19: Defense kept us in there, a special team, you know,
- 57:12Speaker 19: gave us some opportunities. We had a good return there
- 57:15Speaker 19: at the end of the game when we needed it
- 57:17Speaker 19: able to get points. Wasn't a touchdown drive, but it
- 57:21Speaker 19: was a huge drive that took some time and then
- 57:24Speaker 19: allowed Andy to kick a field goal to make it
- 57:26Speaker 19: a touchdown game. And I think that you can all
- 57:28Speaker 19: see that, you know, when we've gotten into those situations
- 57:31Speaker 19: when they've needed a touchdown at the end of the
- 57:34Speaker 19: game as opposed to a field goal, that we've been
- 57:36Speaker 19: able to get the drive stock.
- 57:38Speaker 7: And it's, however, pretty or not pretty.
- 57:42Speaker 19: It is whether it's a in Miami or that game yesterday.
- 57:46Speaker 7: You know, six points and three points is a big difference.
- 57:50Speaker 18: Referencing something else he said last night. Does being undefeated
- 57:54Speaker 18: on the road fall into the category of records and
- 57:57Speaker 18: numbers don't mean.
- 57:58Speaker 7: Cleep or go ahead, let it go. It feels good,
- 58:01Speaker 7: just say it, let it go.
- 58:02Speaker 1: It feels good to tell you anything about again.
- 58:07Speaker 7: I think that they.
- 58:11Speaker 19: Found a way to win, and I'm proud of them,
- 58:13Speaker 19: and there's a lot more that we can do and
- 58:15Speaker 19: then we can play better, we can play with better details.
- 58:21Speaker 19: But in the end, I mean, they found a way
- 58:23Speaker 19: to win, and uh, it's not easy to do in
- 58:26Speaker 19: the league that we're in. So we'll have to kind
- 58:29Speaker 19: of keep that fine balance of understanding the wins are important,
- 58:32Speaker 19: but improving at this time of the year is what's
- 58:35Speaker 19: most important.
- 58:36Speaker 5: Would you seek for better.
- 58:38Speaker 7: We started for cha.
- 58:40Speaker 19: You know, he was ready to go, but you know
- 58:41Speaker 19: I had a few play you know. I mean again,
- 58:43Speaker 19: they all do, everybody does.
- 58:45Speaker 7: I thought he was ready to go. I thought he
- 58:47Speaker 7: was into it.
- 58:47Speaker 19: Ben gives us a you know, great effort, and you
- 58:51Speaker 19: know he was prepared for for the opportunity.
- 58:54Speaker 7: It's your reactional.
- 58:55Speaker 5: Shane's fine.
- 58:57Speaker 19: Well, Shane's a you know, close and so we started
- 59:01Speaker 19: in his business together at Ohio State.
- 59:04Speaker 7: Shane's a good football coach. This business is.
- 59:07Speaker 19: You know, you know, again, the things happen, they make decisions.
- 59:11Speaker 19: So I'll support Shane the best that I can and
- 59:15Speaker 19: in his family, but then also you know, focus on
- 59:19Speaker 19: everything that we have here.
- 59:20Speaker 7: So that's kind of how this thing goes.
- 59:23Speaker 20: I'd say, continuing to uh improve, you know, from from
- 59:30Speaker 20: a health standpoint, and you know, again it's it's a
- 59:34Speaker 20: it's a process in the treatment.
- 59:36Speaker 7: But I would say that he did everything that he.
- 59:39Speaker 19: Could to get himself ready for these for the treatment,
- 59:43Speaker 19: for for the chemo, and so therefore I think that
- 59:47Speaker 19: he's he's responded well and it's good to see him
- 59:50Speaker 19: continuing to have have good weeks and then come in
- 59:53Speaker 19: and see us when he feels up to it, which
- 59:56Speaker 19: which he has.
- 59:58Speaker 21: Mike it seems, is when if there are receivers missing,
- 1:00:02Speaker 21: how a quarterback would have to adjust based on the receiver,
- 1:00:05Speaker 21: a replacements speed, height, whatever. When an offensive line is
- 1:00:10Speaker 21: when an offensive line is missing, what a quarterbacks have
- 1:00:13Speaker 21: to be aware of that maybe we don't see or
- 1:00:15Speaker 21: people that haven't been in the trench like that, how
- 1:00:18Speaker 21: do they change with different offensive lineman with them?
- 1:00:23Speaker 19: Well, I mean just making sure that the communication is
- 1:00:27Speaker 19: good and that everybody is on the same page. And
- 1:00:30Speaker 19: then how you know that you can you know, there
- 1:00:33Speaker 19: are matchups that you need to help.
- 1:00:35Speaker 7: I mean assuming that you.
- 1:00:37Speaker 19: Know there's a player that's not a starter that then
- 1:00:41Speaker 19: goes in there. And again, are there matchups that you
- 1:00:46Speaker 19: have to be aware of and be able to allocate
- 1:00:49Speaker 19: resources to, you know, for protection and things like that.
- 1:00:54Speaker 15: Making sure there are a lot of details that go into
- 1:00:56Speaker 15: some of those goal line plays that you guys.
- 1:00:58Speaker 22: Had offensively curious if there was anything more that maybe
- 1:01:02Speaker 22: Drake could have done.
- 1:01:04Speaker 7: There was more that that I think we all could
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: have done.
- 1:01:07Speaker 19: And uh, you know, you get into you know, the
- 1:01:11Speaker 19: balls on the inside the five yard line and you
- 1:01:14Speaker 19: have to figure out how, you know, if you're gonna
- 1:01:16Speaker 19: go big people and big personnel, and we were out
- 1:01:19Speaker 19: of that, and then you get into some other personnels
- 1:01:22Speaker 19: and you either have to you know, you can't block
- 1:01:25Speaker 19: them all, or you got to read somebody and make
- 1:01:28Speaker 19: decisions down there. And so, you know, it just seemed
- 1:01:33Speaker 19: like whether we were really close yesterday, you know, whether
- 1:01:36Speaker 19: that's pushing treveon in or Hunter scoring. You know, we
- 1:01:41Speaker 19: had the cross and they and they you know, Matt
- 1:01:45Speaker 19: kind of gets ping ponged into the guy and I
- 1:01:47Speaker 19: don't think he was trying to pick him. That's not
- 1:01:49Speaker 19: what we teach, but that's, you know, what they saw,
- 1:01:51Speaker 19: and he's gonna get caught. I'm not saying it's not.
- 1:01:55Speaker 19: But you have to be at your best down there.
- 1:01:58Speaker 19: You know they are, they're they're they're blitzing, they they
- 1:02:01Speaker 19: they're going to try to put some pressure on you
- 1:02:03Speaker 19: and make you make some tough decisions. And you know,
- 1:02:05Speaker 19: so we all have to be better down there, whether
- 1:02:08Speaker 19: they're wearing the goal line personnel or wearing eleven personnel.
- 1:02:11Speaker 17: How did you feel the offense responded and someone put
- 1:02:13Speaker 17: situations looked like the sack?
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: Was there anything that maybe could have avoided that one
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: with the.
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: Corner coming out of the slot. Yeah. Probably.
- 1:02:21Speaker 19: I mean again, the way that the protection was, you
- 1:02:23Speaker 19: just have to get rid of it and dirt it
- 1:02:26Speaker 19: and put it at the guy's feet. But I think
- 1:02:29Speaker 19: at that point in time, with where the protection went
- 1:02:31Speaker 19: and what he felt like, you know, getting five guys out,
- 1:02:38Speaker 19: that would probably should have just got rid of the ball.
- 1:02:43Speaker 19: But we you know, didn't make one mistake into another
- 1:02:46Speaker 19: and took a sack and we were able to get
- 1:02:48Speaker 19: some yards on the next play and kick a field goal.
- 1:02:51Speaker 19: So there's going to be things like that that happened
- 1:02:53Speaker 19: in the game. We just hopefully we can learn from.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Can we Adkiris and the same question.
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: Any update on him?
- 1:03:00Speaker 19: So disappointed he felt like he let his guys down,
- 1:03:04Speaker 19: not being able to finish. There is never going to
- 1:03:06Speaker 19: let anybody down as long as he's here, and these
- 1:03:09Speaker 19: guys want to go, and I have to look at him,
- 1:03:12Speaker 19: and I got to figure out if they can and
- 1:03:15Speaker 19: if they can protect themselves and they can do their
- 1:03:18Speaker 19: job and not make it any worse. And he clearly,
- 1:03:21Speaker 19: from what I saw it wasn't going to be able
- 1:03:22Speaker 19: to do most of those things.
- 1:03:24Speaker 7: And so we'll just see how he progresses to the week.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: So I want to respect the privacy of the situation,
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: but they don't want me.
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: I don't I think that, you know. I mean you
- 1:03:34Speaker 7: can see that the.
- 1:03:37Speaker 19: Players and his team and everybody associated with it, the
- 1:03:39Speaker 19: organization care deeply about him, but uh, you know, respect
- 1:03:44Speaker 19: to his privacy. And so we'll leave it at that.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: And now great moments in history. Both terms refer to
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: items found floating in the sea. However, Eric was wrong
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: stating that the distinction relates to the.
- 1:04:02Speaker 22: Type of vehicle. I misspoke, Eric, We have it on tape.
- 1:04:07Speaker 22: I just said I misspoke. You were clear, were you
- 1:04:09Speaker 22: taking context? There was no misspeaking. Did you misremember the.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Fact that you mentioned a plane is absolutely one hundred
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: percent wrong.
- 1:04:18Speaker 22: Yes, because I was thinking in my head jet Jettison
- 1:04:21Speaker 22: was thinking jets wrong.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: So my that's how I was remembering it, because he
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: said jets Let me finish this. The correct distinction is
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: that floats on his debris from a flessel, from a
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: vessel that was that was not deliberately thrown overboard, and
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: jetsam is debris from a vessel that was deliberately thrown over.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: You didn't say that, Yes, I did say that.
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: Eric I said, when there's a.
- 1:04:49Speaker 22: Shipwreck, heats them, Yeah, because it just floats, when it
- 1:04:54Speaker 22: just floats from a shipwreck, when.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: You throw stuff off off.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: But he was right about the the action.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: He was wrong about the vehicle, right.
- 1:05:04Speaker 22: I said, when there's a shipwreck, Yeah, the stuff that's
- 1:05:09Speaker 22: the debris from the shipwreck is floating.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: That's flats.
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: That's not correct.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: It is correct. That's another great moment. I love stubbornness.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: All right. Back here on Patriot on Filter today five
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: to five PATS five hundred is the hotline podcast at
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Patriots dot com. Is the email address. A couple of
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: emails coming in, A lot of emails coming in, actually,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: but a couple that I'll read. Dan in Pennsylvania, he says,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: does this win over the Bengals qualify it as a win?
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: That feels like a loss given the poor play and
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: the key injuries. That's his first question. No, not to me.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: I would take the poor play out, like I don't
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: have an issue with how they played, Like just win
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: in advance, man, like it's week thirteen, they haven't had
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: to buy yet, Like, just win the game and get
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: out of Cincinnati. The injuries stink like that stinks out.
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: Injuries give you a little of that pyrrhic victory feeling
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: because you know at what cost.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: But and it's not just on the till too.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Like there's something about like losing Will Campbell, the rookie
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: first round pick kid that's been a great personality, and
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: you know, it's just.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: This is a buzzkill.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: That's like, I feel bad because I felt like on
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: the post game show, I was ready to open a
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: vein about it's over.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: Will Campbell's done for the year.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: I mean, he still might be, but at least now
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: there's a like a glimmer of hope that maybe he
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: comes back.
- 1:06:26Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: So I felt yesterday really improved. I was you know,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I was in a dark No.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: There's a certain point during the show, during the game
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: we're watching it and I'm like, I'm not having fun.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: I'm not having fun right now.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: That's tough.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: I mean he's been awesome, Like he's been awesome, and
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: I you know, exactly when you draft to tackle fourth overall,
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: you want to put him at left tackle for the
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: next second, get it. And it feels like they have
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: that's going to be bad. He's gonna be bad.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: I mean I had already gone through like the mental
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: progression of like and then he gets his a cl
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: and then we're like p up next year and maybe he.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Comes back like I had already like gained this all out.
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: And so I didn't offensive Lineman.
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: I wasn't thinking about all that.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: Was good and now he might not run as well.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: Maybe you have to wear a clunky knee brace and
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: that's gonna look like these are.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: The whole seam they should be wearing.
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: Don't do that?
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: People are well, I puinted that out because I thought
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: I wouldn't do that.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: But that's it's a much different situation sometime.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: What it's about to make. And you just talk over
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: me like you always do, according to the listeners.
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: I do, I do?
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: That was real?
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: That was real, listener, haven't said that? Not a real play?
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: Why don't got Why don't offensive Linman wear knee braces anymore?
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: Is it just the Patriots? Like I thought of that,
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: and then I was like looking at the film and
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: I'm like, no, no, they should have and I remember
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: a time when they all did.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I don't know, easy to get rolled up on.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Yeah, but this wasn't rolled up on, so I don't
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: think that. It's just like it would have.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Had a sharp blow to the side of your work.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think this would.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: But I just I just mean generally think speaking like
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: I feel like not too long ago, all the offensive
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: lineman war knee braces just doesn't matter.
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: I think it's adatory in practice. At one point it
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: was they were thinking about making a mandatory and I
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: don't know what happened with that, but this was a
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: blow to the side of his knee from a guy
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: that was pursuing the ball. I don't know. I mean,
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: I don't know enough about knee braced mechanics and all that,
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: but I can't imagine this one.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: It's funny because you know, there's this big emphasis on
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: on safety in football, but these players, other than helmets,
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: they wear less and less pads every year.
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: It is, that's true.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: You see, there was a there was a comparison going
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: around on X of like an old thigh pad, like
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: a thigh pad from the eighties and like a high
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: and they don't even.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Wear knee pads. Forget about knee pads or even like
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: shimp pads and soccer you ever see those like sometimes
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: there's shimp pads used to wear the whole thing, but
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: that I understand. But like, yeah, in football, like even
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: the shoulder pads were getting smaller. Did they even wear that?
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Remember that butt pad that we used to have in
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: the high school football? Like the copsicks protect do they
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: don't protect their coxsacks more? Why is that? The second
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: questions a good thing.
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: We stopped talking, so if you get that out the question.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: Second question, Paul, does this win? Check the box of
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: a game where Drake didn't have his stuff but was
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: able to battle and power through it well enough to
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: get the w. Yeah, yeah, absolutely agree.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Points of that pop throw is you know, I mean
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: that was to me a key moment where it felt
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: like they were you know, bad field position. They were
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: third and eleven. I mean it felt like they were
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: up against it and then launched that throw up.
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: Though they did enough to win as a team, I
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: would say, you know, Drake, everybody else too, but defensively,
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: boor gotless.
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: You don't win this game if your.
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: Kicker is not perfect.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: Probably right, you missed out last.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: He made some long ones too. They had a fifty
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: something the arder. I thought that you know, it's we're
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: getting so spoiled with Drake May like he he was
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: bad by his standards in this game probably you know,
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: I had it as his second worst game of the year,
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: behind only the opener, and he still made three or
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: four throws that nobody else on the planet can probably make.
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: Like it's really like to that point with him where
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: it's every single weeks he makes three or four throws
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: to make your jaw drop. And you know that seems
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: splitter to Pop was a great one. The back shoulder
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: seemed to Hooper was another really great one. He threw
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: a go to uh you know, fade to Mac Collins
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: that was just perfectly plays down the sideline for another
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: chunk play. You know, he made three or four throws
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: in this game, even on and off day that were
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: high level.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: About Pop. I love, you know, he's producing, you know,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: some nice plays lately. But can we get a coach
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: in here that will help him with his balance? He
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: just seems to fall down.
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: The end around he went down, but every time like
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: he gets in the open field, he just falls. Well,
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: I thought that he went down on the end around
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: because he was gonna get popped, and so he just
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: went down little self president and then the one over
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: the middle he dope for the catch the ball.
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: Yeah so what I hear you?
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: That's fine?
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's been an end around.
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: Like maybe you guys might have seen like the defenders
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: come like, because we both laughed at that one, like.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: He fea, I thought the same thing. I mean, it
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: was a little bit of both. But just to be.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Fair, you know those balls you can stand on and
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: kind of work on your balances.
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: I don't know he told me that on the which
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: one was It was one of the ones. There's so
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: many of these drunken sailor ones from him, and I
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: don't know which one it was, but one of the players.
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: He told me that he like gave himself like a
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: little bit of whiplash because he looked back to see
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: if there was a defender going back and then when
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: he snapped his head forward, Yeah, I got like disoriented.
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: So I just wonder if like maybe that is part
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: of it, like he's like kind of looking around. Ton't
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: do that, just run you think it all goes back
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: to it can beat people.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: You don't need to look Brendan and Edmonton. Once again,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Todd won ups himself and only a way he could
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: by suggesting tanking a week with eight eight days away
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: from a game to rest before a bye week. I'm
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: sure Todd was happy with his participation medals in his
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: sports career, but us normies are not. This guy is cooked. Wow,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: and also shout out to Alex for her glow up.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: I hope she remembers us when she's gone Hollywood. Yeah, Carissa,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: what's her name, Rissa Thompson, Chrissa Thompson. Uh, you know,
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: shouted her out on the internet on the new podcast
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: on the Internet of the top podcasts.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: I mean, we're the world's original podcast, but I would
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: say the Kelsey's podcast a little bit more popular. But yeah, yeah,
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: that's huge, said baller move with the handwritten note, like
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: slip that to her and now.
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: It came up.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: That's pretty cool. That's really cool. Yeah, I mean I don't.
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: Maybe we'll have her on. Maybe she'll be on tomorrow
- 1:12:43Speaker 6: show tomorrow.
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe she can.
- 1:12:45Speaker 6: Uh you know, you can talk about maybe delve into that.
- 1:12:48Speaker 10: Chris.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: You won't be here, Paul, so you don't get to
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: listen to it.
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: Mike and I we had some time with Carissa. I'm
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: not sure Chrissa knows that she had time when I was.
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: Seems very interested in Chris's whereabouts when they were here.
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: I know she like they on the Thursday night games,
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: like that whole crew, and it's there's a lot. There's
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: a lot that goes into those Thursday night broadcasts. That
- 1:13:09Speaker 5: whole crew was in our area the whole time around.
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: They were like walking around.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: I once sent a letter, so you're not asked a
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: letter to be delivered to John Elway, but I don't
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: think you ever got it. You should, you know, at
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: home every week?
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: What do you think if I gave a handwritten note
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: to Laura Rutledge this Monday night for Monday Night football,
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: because she'll.
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: Be here that ship with the crazy.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe maybe you'll get a shout I want to
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: shout out for I think she's great.
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: She's great, She's just great.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Who if you could give a handwritten note to anyone?
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: Who would you give a handwritten note to? Mhmm?
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: Handwritten note?
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: I don't know, you don't know.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: People don't do that anymore, they don't.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: People don't write Jim Calhoun random about you, Evan?
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: Who would you? Philip Bailey? Good call there?
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: Who would you write a note to a handwritten note,
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: you know, like a note of thanks or a note
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: of praise.
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: How will we do this? I have ever written a
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: handwritten note.
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: Like when I write camp and I would I'd have
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: to write letters to my parents. It was mad, so
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: I had to do it. I would say handwritten. Not
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: Kyle Shanahan, just like like slip them a little note
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: at the combine and just be like, I really appreciate
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: your film. Thank you, just kind of.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: You must have gotten a lot of handwritten thank you
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: notes friend your day with number of interviews.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: That you used to do appeal.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Nobody does that the email?
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: What would you who would you give a note to.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Handwritten note? Uh? John Lynch, No, I don't know. I
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: It's not an easy question that you hit me with.
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: You kind of yeah, you scoffed at me.
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: I did I did write I call it would be
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: my answer.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: I did. I did write a note to Obama and
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: I got an email back from second the White House.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: It's like when you send like a invitation to the president,
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: like you're like barbar your wedding or something, and they're like,
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: you're sorry, but he can't come. Yeah, really, I thought
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: he was going to show up.
- 1:15:12Speaker 9: Uh.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: Paul writes in I've certainly never been embarrassed by my
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: sports team, but just this morning, I was walking through
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: the grocery store in my Patriots hoodie and came face
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: to face with a guy dressed in Bill's gear. We
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: both looked directly at each other, and I couldn't help
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: but smirk. I hated being that guy the last few years.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: Have a great Thanksgiving gopats so.
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: Good moment these little eyebrows experience too, A big one
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: a couple of weeks.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Yeah, poor poor Bills fans.
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: Huh, poor Bills. We'll see, we'll up against I don't
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: have any money, but somebody that does have money. When
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: the Patriots win the AFC East, can we get a
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: billboard outside of high Mark Stadium?
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: Sure that says like we run the East or something
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: cool like they did to hear because they won't.
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: I'm sure that no one would do that Patriots fan.
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: You know, celebrating division titles like they mean anything. So
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: I might as well give it back right to the
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: great people of Buffalo. Think you right? Someone that has
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: like you know, I can't afford it, so somebody in Buffalo.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Probably pretty affordable, I would make. That's a great point.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: They pay you a good point. Or maybe like one
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: of those planes that like fids like over the stadium
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: with the as like a Champions Patriots.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: Some Steeler fan did that over here against Pittsburgh and
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: O seven, the pulling a banner like asterix about Super Bowls.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: I did not take comment to that.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: That was the one thing that they did that It
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: really pissed me off.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: And back to the phones. Michael's in Texas. What's up, Michael?
- 1:16:46Speaker 23: Hey, thanks for you guys.
- 1:16:48Speaker 12: Hear me?
- 1:16:48Speaker 24: Okay, yep, yes, Michael, perfect.
- 1:16:51Speaker 23: So I've got a question and a grite my question.
- 1:16:56Speaker 23: I know it's hard to you know, pinpoint and say
- 1:16:59Speaker 23: one or the other. But if you had to pick
- 1:17:01Speaker 23: one of the two, with this last weekend's game being
- 1:17:04Speaker 23: kind of the one of the sloppier ones as of late,
- 1:17:07Speaker 23: and seeing our armor peel back a little bit, who
- 1:17:09Speaker 23: would you credit win more with the players or the coaches.
- 1:17:15Speaker 23: I'll take that off air, but I'll just quickly jump
- 1:17:18Speaker 23: to my gripe and then let you guys get to it.
- 1:17:21Speaker 23: Good old Christian in La Christian Christian Christian you're telling
- 1:17:26Speaker 23: me that you waited on hold for at least fifteen
- 1:17:28Speaker 23: to twenty minutes and the best you could come up
- 1:17:31Speaker 23: with was stumbling through some god awful Texas jokes. I mean,
- 1:17:35Speaker 23: thank you for clearing up at least one thing that
- 1:17:38Speaker 23: one of these self proclaimed tools that you have to
- 1:17:40Speaker 23: comeback is certainly not one of them. Got to mention
- 1:17:44Speaker 23: your joke as a hole in it. You mentioned that
- 1:17:46Speaker 23: you only know of two things in Texas, when that's
- 1:17:49Speaker 23: a bit of a lie because I'm clearly living rent
- 1:17:52Speaker 23: free in your mind. So let's put that tool back
- 1:17:56Speaker 23: into your Stanley Junior toolbox set that you probably took
- 1:17:59Speaker 23: out of your kids, don't. I don't want you to
- 1:18:01Speaker 23: hurt yourself there, Bud, But I'll go ahead and I'll
- 1:18:05Speaker 23: stop there. You know, I know that everybody loves a
- 1:18:07Speaker 23: good villain. You know, you guys are great. Andy was
- 1:18:10Speaker 23: great at it and everything, you know, But Christian, I
- 1:18:13Speaker 23: don't want you thinking that I'm lumping you into that group.
- 1:18:16Speaker 23: I said good villain, not crap villain. So I hope
- 1:18:19Speaker 23: you guys enjoy the rest of your wowy Christian, enjoy
- 1:18:23Speaker 23: enjoy your sushi and seeing your discounts see you guys later.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: All right, Michael bringing it, Texas claps back, bringing it
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: listener on listener crime. Okay, I'm here for that, right, Yeah,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: let's go.
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: Yeah, Christian in La in three two, Tyrell's in New Jersey.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: What's up Tyrell? Tyrell? What exit? No, he's not there. Okay,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: we'll go. Also dance in New Jersey. What's up Dan?
- 1:18:57Speaker 7: Yeah? Montclair, Montclair?
- 1:18:59Speaker 12: Okay, Yeah, yeah, So not not angry, Fred, just but
- 1:19:05Speaker 12: I do have a couple of concerns.
- 1:19:08Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:19:08Speaker 12: First, you know, not going to belabor it, but the
- 1:19:10Speaker 12: slow starts is getting to be, you know, kind of
- 1:19:12Speaker 12: a joke. But I understand they overcome it. No, okay.
- 1:19:16Speaker 12: The second one is the goal line offense. And I
- 1:19:21Speaker 12: don't know if if anyone broke it down, Like is
- 1:19:24Speaker 12: there a particular problem. How many were gravers, how many
- 1:19:30Speaker 12: were Rimandre Thams versus Trevion And is it personnel or
- 1:19:35Speaker 12: they just bad luck?
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: They all got chances they try.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: If you listen to the beginning of the show, Evan
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: kind of broke down at least one of the sequences.
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: Yeah, Henderson got carries, Terrell Jennings got I think one
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: carry down there Stevenson I think got two.
- 1:19:52Speaker 6: Henderson also was a receiver.
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: They tried a quarterback sneak, They tried to leak the
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: tight end out a little bit, you know, in the
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: back in the end zone. They tried everything. They didn't
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: execute it, and.
- 1:20:04Speaker 12: Campbell was there for both all that was. His injury
- 1:20:09Speaker 12: came later.
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: Soon in the third quarter. I think, so, yeah, thanks Dan.
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I mean they might not have been in
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: the second time they got down.
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: This is purely execution like that. I don't think the
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: Bengals did anything in any in either sequence that got
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: the Patriots. Or maybe one play they blitzed the safety
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: on a play action that got them. But like for
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: the most part this was I.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Thought that they ran too many plays up the middle.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: Like run plays. Yeah, okay, but if you're trying to
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: get one yard, no.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: I know, but they were running into a stone wall,
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: so like, I don't know, I would have moved it
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: outside a little bit, that's fair. I thought the one play,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: I think it was the first one they tried, it was,
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: you know, design roll out for May where I think
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: he could have had I like that play, but I,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: like you said at Bengals niff that out they.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: I don't think it was a designed rollout. I think
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: he rolled out because the safety was coming.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: Oh you think, Oh, I thought it was a design play.
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: But the city we might have been, I don't know,
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: but the safety was clear to the quarterback, and I
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: think he was like, I got to get out of here. No,
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: but it was it was execution. They did not execute
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: well down there.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: On handwritten notes, Boston Cream said Fred would give a
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: handwritten note to Brandon Spikes if you know, you know correct?
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: I know, and I.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: Don't like it.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: Let's see Matt in Virginia. It wants to make a
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: humble attempt to win a T shirt. A few weeks ago,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: you guys were talking about Brady and his punts. Well,
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: I decided to scour the internet to find out how
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: many times Tom punted. And so the first question is
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: how many punts did Tom Brady have in his career?
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: And his page he had won against Denver in the
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: twenty eleven I'm gonna say AFC Divisional game.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: I think four say.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: You would say wrong, you would be wrong, and Paul,
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: you would be wrong, you would be wrong. Two three
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: oh home at Miami and O three Uh. It was
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: down at the one snowing Snowbowl in those snows game, Yes,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: in those weird silver alternate jerseys. Punt two at home
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: Divisional round versus the Broncos in twenty twelve. It was
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: a twenty eleventh.
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: Season eleven, right, Mike's yeah.
- 1:22:28Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Punt three was at home versus the Bills in twenty thirteen,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: no recollection, I remember that one. And then the bonus question,
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: what is Tom's career punt average? That's three two yards
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: thirty eight point seven. That's not good.
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: Pretty close, I mean, well, he's punted.
- 1:22:45Speaker 6: And you're punting.
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: You're punting in plus territory nine, right.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: And bonus two? What other one other Patriots quarterback has punted?
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: Who was it?
- 1:22:57Speaker 6: Only one other Patriots ever?
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: According to that, that's a great trivia question.
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: Tom Tupa was a punter. Oh yeah, that's that count nou. Yeah,
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: he doesn't have that though. That's a good one though.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Tom Tupa was, Yeah, no, he has Matt Castle at
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: the Bills in wait, it was down at the.
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: One another one in the window in that wind one.
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sticking with Tom Tuba.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: That's a technicality punter slash quarterback.
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: They don't make them like they used to.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: They don't. Could you imagine only had to have one
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: roster spot on? I think that's a great idea. I
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: can't imagine. I can't believe that Bill never figured out
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: how to have a kicker and a punter be the
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: same person like that. That's the other one that I
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: thought for sure, like he would be able to save
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: the roster spot.
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: And you know, it's like show Tony, there's got to
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: be somebody who could kick punts and kickfield goals like
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: someone ever.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: In history able to do it.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: Wouldn't that be valuable? Like you have a free roster
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: spot like.
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: A unif corn out there someday, then if that guy
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: gets hurt, though, you're screwed.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: That's true. You need to That's true, Jack and Aba.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: The Patriots must buckle their shin straps for the Giants.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: I watched the Giants against the Lions, and the Giants
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: are a much better team than their record suggests. Though
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: they don't have elite skilled players, they are very stout
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: on both sides of the line. They play hard, and
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: they are well coached. They have led in most of
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: their games this season, and had they taken the points
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: instead of going for a touchdown on their second to
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: last possession, they would have beat the Lions. The Giants
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: are a dangerous opponent because the Patriots might be inclined
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: to take them lightly.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: You know, I'm a little few Johnson, like, he just
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: a big, big dude. And I noticed, especially with Dart,
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: there was like one drive they had and I think
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: it was in that Bears game where he just went
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: to like four straight times, like they started hitting it.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: But he's a big, contested catch.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: Guy receiver, make some good catches like that back.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: He makes some plays last week.
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: You know, I just think I think the books out
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: on tront the target tight ends against this.
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know if I've called the Giants defense stout.
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: I think that's the opposite of what I would call
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: the Giants defense. But I hear his point overall about
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: the Giants, They've been in a lot of games. You know,
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: their records two and ten. They've lost five games that
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: they've led by double digits in the fourth quarter. They're
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: one in five and one score games. They're you know,
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: they they've hung in games, you know, three weeks in
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: a row, they've lost three straight one score games, including
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: one in overtime, so it's not.
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: Four twenty seven in overtime.
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: They're not getting blown out.
- 1:25:39Speaker 6: That's the last three games.
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: Their defense been bad. Their offense has actually been respectable
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: given the situation. You know, no neighbors for most of
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: the year. The quarterback's kind of been flux. The coach
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: was an offensive minded coach that they fired. But their
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: offense like eighteenth and Dvoa, Like, it's not like it's
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: a disaster.
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: It's not the it's not.
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: The wounded animal that people make like dangerous when his
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: animals are really dangerous. But it's just a team that
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: like they're just gonna cut it loose and everything's on
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: the table and you know, like that, it's just I
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: think those are hard teams to beat if they just
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: come in and they're like, we don't care. You know,
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: we're down, we're up, we don't you know, We're gonna
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: throw the ball, We're gonna do double passes, and we're
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: gonna set our outside linebackers out on your tackles and
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: we'll see what happens.
- 1:26:20Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: Now, on the other hand, Jameis Winston might throw you
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: three picks and then all of a sudden, this game
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: turns into a blowout, but it goes one of two
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: ways with him. Yeah, either he throws for five hundred
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: yards or he throws five hundred yards to the other team.
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: And there's some of what we just talked about with Flacco. Yeah,
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: I don't think Flacco is quite as dramatic with the
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: swings as Jameis Winston. But if you get good Flacco,
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: you can be in trouble. You didn't get good Flacco.
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: I think it's I think he was clearly well below
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: one hundred percent, which is why I would have played
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: Burrow in that game. I would have been desperate if
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: I was Cincinnati, and I would have put everything into
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: trying to win that game to see if I can
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: salvage the season, and ultimately may have been the difference I.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: Think I saw he's had seven games where he's thrown
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: for three hundred yards and throwing three interceptions.
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: Yeah, he's he doesn't understand the concept of a trap corner,
- 1:27:10Speaker 4: so like he's praying to Jesus.
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: He said, He's, like, man, I pray to God he
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: could just help me stop throwing pick sixes.
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: It's unbelievable to me that like a corner. And I'm
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: not trying to pick on James a cornerback that is
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: that that is dis experienced, and he just keeps throwing
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: into the corner, will like act like he's carrying the
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: receiver and then fall off the receiver and just jump
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: around underneath, and he throws into it every single time.
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: I'm I, dude, this it's a trap. It is literally
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: called a trap corner. And you keep throwing the ball right.
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: After he's still even after. Yeah, it's crazy Kevin and Mass.
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: I think what was more concerning than the spray throws
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: from May early in the game was the lack of
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: a contingency plan for several blitzes the Bengals sent at us.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: I saw multiple free blitzers get immediate pressure on May
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: didn't seem to be well identified pre snap. I didn't
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: see the lines slid to the correct side or see
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: any alert adjustments from potential hot receivers. May either took
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: the sack or chucked up a prayer. I know his
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: pressure numbers have been good up until last game, which
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: is why I would have liked to think he would
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: have been better equipped to handle what the Bengals did.
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: Yep, it's a good email. I think that was probably
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: the biggest concern coming out of this game from a
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: Drake May perspective, Like the pick like it happens, like
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: you're gonna you're not gonna go turnover free every single week.
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: You're gonna throw some picks in the NFL. Uh, the
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: lack of a plan against the blitzeres I asked him
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: about after the game. He fell on this sword as
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: he usually does and said that he could have been
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: better with it pre snap and you know, getting guys
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: blocked and things like that. But even still some of
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: the ones, you know, they got him on a nickel
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: on a slot blitz that I thought Diggs was just
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: open and he kind of froze and didn't didn't get
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: rid of the football there. Or think Rabel said even
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: just throw the ball at Digs his feet and just
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: live to play the dirdy the next down, you know
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: sort of thing even would have worked. Uh, the last
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: third down of the game, they led a guy through
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: the B gap unblocked and that was almost picked.
- 1:29:08Speaker 6: And I didn't like his response to that one either.
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: Yeah, so he so I think what happened was and
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: I put this in after further review the one that
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: I'm talking about with the slot blitz. He had digs
- 1:29:20Speaker 4: on a little out that he just kind of didn't throw,
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: and then they ran the same exact route into the
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: zero bulitz and Turner was ready for it this time,
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: and so he fell off his guy and jumped out
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: knowing that it was coming, and Turner was this close
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: to a pick six that would have won the Bengels
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: the game. Uh So. But going back to the protection
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: for a second, like the A and the B gaps
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: have to be protected. You can't let guys through unblocked
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: through the A.
- 1:29:48Speaker 5: And the B.
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: Somebody comes off the edge, it happens. You know, the
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: quarterback can account for that, but you got to keep
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: him protected through the middle of the pocket.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: Uh Tay from Nebraska, He says, just want to First off,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: we came through when it matters yet again. Second, I'm
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: not trying to stir up controversy, but watching the first
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: time and even the second, it really appeared Cincinnati was
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: trying to actively injure our players. For example, the overslam
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: of Pop Douglas. Also another play where Drake was getting
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: tackled by two players and the one on top literally
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: punched him in the face. Maybe I'm looking too much
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: into it. Either way, we got the win. Yet again,
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: they probably were trying to hurt us.
- 1:30:29Speaker 5: I would just say on the Douglas one, he hadn't
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: been touched down. He got up and ran, That's why
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: they threw him down. Yeah, despite the fact that Kevin
- 1:30:41Speaker 5: Harlan called that a touchdown for yard touchdown, he did
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: say that it was a great Now, I don't know
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: if he was saying touch he was touched down, but
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: he said touchdown. That was one of the worst performances
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: by a veteran play by play guy misidentified players all
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: game long.
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: Like I was thinking about this last night as I do.
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: The throat to pop might have been the best throw
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: I've seen in the NFL all year.
- 1:31:07Speaker 5: That was a good throw like that.
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: Really, that's on the list of any quarterback throws all
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: season long. That's on the list.
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: I got a funny Top five funny quick one for this.
- 1:31:16Speaker 5: In the post game, I had said that, you know,
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: we were talking about how Drake was a little off
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: at the beginning of the game, and I was like,
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: you know, even when he got quote unquote hot, like
- 1:31:24Speaker 5: they like, Henry was just kind of getting wide open,
- 1:31:27Speaker 5: and he was he didn't really have a lot of
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: tight window throws.
- 1:31:30Speaker 6: And Mike immediately goes, well that one.
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: Pop talk was like, oh yeah.
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: That one, Oh yeah, that one's throw, and I was like, oh,
- 1:31:39Speaker 6: I forgot about that one.
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: His feet are in his own end zone and he
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: and he throws with anticipation forty yards down.
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: That just kind of like he like looked back and
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: then he got around the guy and like, I mean,
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: absurd were he lets go with the ball? Pop hasn't
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: even really like nottten in. I mean, that's just practicing.
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: Dylan writes in I was listening to Barth on one
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: of his shows, and he points out that despite Drake
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: playing exceptionally well, he's not very good at the QB sneak.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: What is your take on putting someone else under center
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: for Sneaks? Bart suggested Hollins, but I like Henry or
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: Hooper in that role. Who would you pick?
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: It's a good point. Turns this back that Alex and
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: I have talked about before. I want to say probably him,
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: but I want to say that we have.
- 1:32:24Speaker 15: It.
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: You know, Sneaks is all about pad level, Like Brady
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: was so good at it because he got really really
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: low and you know, really drove his legs and got
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: underneath and kind of like burrowed underneath the big bodies there.
- 1:32:36Speaker 4: I don't think he gets low enough. I think he
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: tries to go over the top with it and and
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: it doesn't really get that push, all right.
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: I potentially analyze that.
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: He turns us back, and he definitely turned his back
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: on that one, and that's why the ball never got
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: to the goal line.
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: Yeah, Brady used to just go straight down like he
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: would just kind of like burrow underneath it.
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: Eric says, this is why we should have kept Dugger
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: and White. They're both doing well in Pittsburgh and San Francisco.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: What do you guys think.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: I don't know how that helps the situation.
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: I haven't seen any of.
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: I haven't seen any I can't tell you that that's
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: right or wrong. Douggers made an impact in Pittsburgh, but
- 1:33:15Speaker 5: he wasn't playing really here unless one of those guys
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: was hurt.
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: I mean, I guess you could make the argument that
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: ke On White could have rushed inside on some third
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: downs without Milton Williams.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: That's a fair point.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: Yeah, that's something that I pointed out when they traded him,
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: but it wasn't going to be a big role. It
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: wasn't like he was going to be starting. But I
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: guess in theory, yeah, it's a fair email if it's
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: third and eight, like he could have put ke On
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: White over the guard and you know, on the spot,
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: and yeah.
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: Yeah, because I was initially like that ke On White,
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: you know. But no, that's a fair email. You lost
- 1:33:44Speaker 5: a guy that he could have potentially given you a skill.
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: He could have given you a later of depth that
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: maybe he's better than Durden or Gregory Bruce.
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: And Bluffton, South Carolina, originally from North andover on punters
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: and QB's. He said he once saw Tom Musick accidentally
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: kicked the ball backwards over his head. I think in
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: Fenway Park. Back up QB to bay Perilli. Uh. Tom
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Musick is the answer to a good trivia question, which
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: is name the only player to play professional football and
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: baseball in Fenway Park.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: Let me think about that one.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: Wait, what the answer is Tom Uson? He played for
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: the Detroit Lions for a short stint.
- 1:34:30Speaker 5: Not Harry aganis.
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: I do think it's that for the Braves and then
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: in the same day played again that's pretty cool.
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: Yeah, it was amazing when like live, Yeah it was.
- 1:34:46Speaker 12: Time.
- 1:34:46Speaker 6: Yeah, he played the sports.
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: You know, he would play baseball and then when baseball
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: was over he would play football.
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: But actually I remember that being.
- 1:34:56Speaker 5: And I don't think the Braves weren't happy with it,
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: and he ended up not I don't think he'd played
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: in the game, but he got there. He got to
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: the game in like the fourth inning.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: Who's a better baseball player? Bo or deal? I think yeah,
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: was an all star amazing place.
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: I think Dion could have been a really good baseball
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: player if he focused on Yeah, he was a good
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: he was, I mean exactly, just an unbelievable athlete.
- 1:35:20Speaker 4: Yea, I remember him. He could hit, running.
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: The bases, Yeah, he was a weapon on the base.
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: Was he fast?
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: Ben thinks that Drake May is slightly regressing every week.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: He's wondering if the deficiencies are starting to wear him down.
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: Then I have some very small sea concerns, very small
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: sea concerns with Drake. I think that might be putting
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: it a little strong that he's regressing every week, because
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: I think he just played at such a high level
- 1:35:49Speaker 5: all year. A little worried that the turnovers are starting
- 1:35:53Speaker 5: to crop up, and for some reason he has he
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: has friends in the NFL stats crews because they don't
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: really record his fumbles. He had another fumble in this
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: game that they didn't say was a fumble.
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: And I'm not on the scramble.
- 1:36:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not talking about the pass that was clearly
- 1:36:06Speaker 5: a pass that they originally ruled a fumble and then
- 1:36:08Speaker 5: they overturned it on replay. He fumbled on an early
- 1:36:11Speaker 5: scramble and he recovered it like ball security is important.
- 1:36:18Speaker 4: He was excellent against the Jets, So I mean, I know.
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: That's why I said. I think that's strong saying he's regressed.
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: Every week, but he was awesome against the Jets.
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: He was really really good.
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: And AJ says he feels like Josh McDaniel's play calling
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: was less effective against the Bengals. He's been good this year.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: But shouldn't he know Drake can't run a sneak.
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: Oh, I don't know.
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: They didn't run a sneak. Everybody be up in arms
- 1:36:40Speaker 5: like a sneak. You're like one inch line. Like I thought,
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: Josh did a lot of different things on that goal
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: line set. They didn't execute him.
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: I think that The one thing if you wanted to
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: be small is he concerned about McDaniels, is that we're
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: getting to the point of the season where it's all
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: on film, like all the stuff that they have been
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: doing and all the things that they cooked up in
- 1:36:59Speaker 4: the lab in the summer time. I'm for Drake may
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: that's now out there is now all on film, and
- 1:37:04Speaker 4: I like this aspect of McDaniels, but it is something
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: that's worth mentioning is that they will repeat plays. Not
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: everybody does. They'll dress it up a little bit differently
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: and they'll get to it a little bit differently. But
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: you know the Hunter Henry touchdown, for example, they ran
- 1:37:20Speaker 4: that exact same play the week before, Like you know,
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: they will do that, and they'll repeat plays within a
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: game where you know, Drake he loves stick. They'll like
- 1:37:30Speaker 4: they run stick like ten times a game. Now he
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: makes it go because you can hit stick in many ways,
- 1:37:37Speaker 4: in different ways and whatever the coverage gives you. But
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: if you want to go there with McDaniels, you know,
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: let's hope that he's got some things that he's been
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: holding back that are in his back pocket for when
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: the games start to get bigger.
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: And would just point to the run game though, like
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: just trying to find some kind of consistency. Now that
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: Ramandra Stevenson's back, you have a rotation going. I mean,
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: seemed to me like they weren't ready to really throw
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: him into the fire. They just wanted to pass protection
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: for the most part in this game. And maybe that
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: continues through this week and let him get healthy fully.
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: But that's where I just started, is give give Drake
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: a little bit of consistency in the run game, you know,
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: give him manageable.
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: He does seem to still be able to get the
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: tight ends open. But I thought in this game the
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: receivers didn't do as good a job of yeah, you know,
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: degraating Jake's got open.
- 1:38:22Speaker 4: On the third down, Booty was going to catch a
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: touchdown if that guy didn't drag him down. I mean
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: that fall that was seen that movie before, right, he
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: just pulls away late and drops it right in the bucket.
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: You know, Hollins had had the big play down the sideline,
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: but and then pop out the big play up up
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: the shoot. But it wasn't a high volume game for
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: the receiver.
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: But he ended up with ninety four.
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: It was a career high in yards, but getting there,
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: it didn't was just linebackers.
- 1:38:50Speaker 6: It wasn't the same.
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: They had the line, but the Bengals linebackers stink and
- 1:38:54Speaker 4: they just had the linebackers spin in.
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: It was Brandon's in Buffalo, back on the hut. What's up, Randy? Randy? Hello, Yeah,
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: are you embarrassed? Go ahead?
- 1:39:07Speaker 13: No, No, I'm not embarrassed.
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: Okay, good?
- 1:39:11Speaker 13: Yeah, how are you guys doing?
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: All right? Just calling to say, hey.
- 1:39:17Speaker 11: How do you guys think if Marcus Bryant was the
- 1:39:21Speaker 11: left tackle instead of low because he played left tackle
- 1:39:23Speaker 11: in Missouri?
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, Yeah, it's a it's a good question. It's
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: something I was thinking about I think yesterday.
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: Yeah, they want to think about it a little bit.
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: So at Missouri, armand Membu played right tackle and Marcus
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: Bryant was their left tackle last year at Missouri. So
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: he's the left tackle by trade. That's that's his more
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: natural position.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: His body type and his play style probably fits right
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: tackle in this system a little bit better than left.
- 1:39:47Speaker 4: But he's he's played left tackle more than he's played
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: right tackle.
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: So, but he's like six seven.
- 1:39:55Speaker 5: He played, Yeah, he played on the left side of
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: the s m U two.
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: So why do you why do you say that his
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: type is more.
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: He is a maller, big dude, you know, a big,
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: good run blocker. You know, usually with McDaniel's, like the
- 1:40:09Speaker 4: right side, they usually have the the bulldozers on the
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: right and the more athletic guys on the left. Typically
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: not always, but you know, you see, like I always
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: go back to, you know, Solder Toney Andrews Mason Cannon
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: like that. That's sort of the way they want the
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: line to be built. Ideally, now they you have a
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: great player on the left side who's a maaller than that.
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: All the power to you, but you know, that's just
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: how it's been in the past.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: All right, Thanks Randy. How about Nate and Iowa?
- 1:40:38Speaker 7: Hey Nate, Hey, can you guys hear me?
- 1:40:41Speaker 11: All right, yeah, yeah, I have a quick question.
- 1:40:44Speaker 25: So back after the Panthers game, I put five dollars
- 1:40:48Speaker 25: on Drake made to win MVP win odds are like
- 1:40:52Speaker 25: plus seventy five hundred, and my plan was to take
- 1:40:55Speaker 25: the cash out after Drake has a bad couple of games,
- 1:40:58Speaker 25: because right now I think my cash it's at about
- 1:41:00Speaker 25: one hundred dollars, but at this point, this late into
- 1:41:03Speaker 25: the season, do you guys think I should just ride
- 1:41:05Speaker 25: it out until the voting or should I take the cash?
- 1:41:08Speaker 10: Well?
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: Can you go over that again? How much did you
- 1:41:10Speaker 5: put ten bucks? Five bucks to win one hundred? I
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: would ride it. I would let it ride.
- 1:41:14Speaker 4: Same.
- 1:41:15Speaker 5: Yeah, he's got a shot with still dollars.
- 1:41:18Speaker 25: The payout was to pay five dollars to pay three
- 1:41:20Speaker 25: eighty five, and right now I have an early cash
- 1:41:23Speaker 25: out for like one hundred bucks or so.
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: But I would ride it out because he's got those games. Again,
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: I would cash out Buffalo and Baltimore.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: I think Matthew Stafford uh.
- 1:41:33Speaker 6: For ninety five bucks.
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: But if he played well against Buffalo and Baltimore, absolutely
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: right in it, especially win the Germans bomb Pearl Harbor.
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: I thought it was the Japanese. Yeah, but don't you
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: think Matthew Stafford has.
- 1:41:45Speaker 6: The inside track?
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:41:47Speaker 7: I do.
- 1:41:48Speaker 25: Yeah, a lot more to work. Follow up question about
- 1:41:51Speaker 25: that kind of because I think Matthew Stafford is number
- 1:41:54Speaker 25: one in odds right now, and I mean he's playing
- 1:41:57Speaker 25: lights out, so I don't know if it was worth it.
- 1:42:00Speaker 25: Just take the cash out, just ride it till the end.
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: I also feel like with MVP all these awards, like
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: you kind of have to have an MVP season before
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: you get the MVP. Like in a lot of cases,
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: it's like kind of like proof of concept. And Stafford's
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: been so good.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: I would take the cash out and find another prop bet.
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: Well that's what I said.
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: Take the cash out, take half of it, put on
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: Matthew Stafford.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: Oh there, but you're not gonna get good.
- 1:42:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: Now, I'd ride it out, find another different type of bet.
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: Cash it out, and put it on the Patriots to
- 1:42:27Speaker 5: go to the super Bowl.
- 1:42:28Speaker 4: Like if he goes if he goes to the five
- 1:42:30Speaker 4: hundred to one, I have no idea if he goes
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: to Baltimore and I maybe they flex that game into
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: like a four to twenty five window or something like that,
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: and he goes to Baltimore and he foes through three
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: hundred and three touchdowns and beats the Ravens, Like they're
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: gonna the MVP thing. That's gonna have to it's gonna
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: start right back up, like especially if they win those
- 1:42:48Speaker 4: games without Campbell and without Moses And you're.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: Right, you're right, thanks Nate Bill's and Vancouver. If I
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: can hit the button there, you what's up, Bill, I.
- 1:43:02Speaker 24: First time caller, a long time listener. I'm curious the
- 1:43:08Speaker 24: knee braces that offensive linemen wear in college and then
- 1:43:11Speaker 24: they get to the pros and immediately ditch them. Wouldn't
- 1:43:14Speaker 24: you think that the type of hit that Will Campbell
- 1:43:18Speaker 24: took would have been prevented by that knee break.
- 1:43:22Speaker 5: I don't know, there's no way to know for sure
- 1:43:24Speaker 5: it could have been. I it's funny that when Mike
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: brought that up, I hadn't really. I always kind of
- 1:43:29Speaker 5: think of all the offensive linemen, all were knee braces
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: in me too.
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why I thought this is weird taking them
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: off now.
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: It's uh, you know, you're not encumbered. Yeah, the speed ridiculous.
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: I mean, it looks like ten years are just going
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: to be played in shorts and helmets.
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: Well, in college they basically play You ever see the
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: pants in college?
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, like capri pants.
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: I don't care for it.
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: I'm not a doctor, but I don't think that this
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: particular one because it came from the side.
- 1:44:00Speaker 5: But if it comes from the side and you have
- 1:44:01Speaker 5: the brace on, isn't that where the medal is to
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: prevent the knee from that's the whole.
- 1:44:06Speaker 4: The brace is supposed to It's like, you know, if
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: you're betting your knee, like it's supposed to help your knee.
- 1:44:11Speaker 4: Like this was a side collision.
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: I thought it was supposed to knee from going side
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: to side.
- 1:44:16Speaker 5: That's what I thought.
- 1:44:17Speaker 10: I was.
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: Yeah, again, I don't know. I've never played offensive line yet.
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: I don't know. It's a brace. It braces you well well.
- 1:44:25Speaker 7: But.
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: Does it brace it from going forward or to the side.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: That's that's where the medal is forward you have to run.
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: I just know that the guy came from the backside
- 1:44:36Speaker 4: and was pursuing the ball and hit him.
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: And since guy probably a good chance.
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: Well, Kimbell will have a brace on if when he
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: comes back this year. But I always also think of Brady.
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: I mean, Brady never wore a brace to low eight
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: towards a c L brace on that leg rest of
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: his career.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: I do agree that the plant leg the for like
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: the leg that the quarterback puts forward, it would be
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: smart to wear a brace on that leg.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: Yeah. William Wright sin he was says, I was taking
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: a look at super odds for teams and it hit
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: me the NFL scriptwriters have the perfect opportunity. Rams versus
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: Patriots two point zero. The Greatest Show on Turf had
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: one of the best offenses in the league. The Rams
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: currently have the MVP front runner in Stafford at thirty
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: to two at thirty touchdowns, two interceptions. Patriots are on
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: their second year of their starting quarterback. They have an
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: opportunity here to have Brady call the game and relive
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: an amazing Hall of Fame career throughout all the lead
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: up to the big day.
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: It's not on Fox, so it won't be Brady.
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: It would actually be Patriots Rams three point zero. They've
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: already played twice in the Troubles.
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: Some people are so young, Paul that they don't even
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: remember that they played them.
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: I thought the super Bowl was on Fox.
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: It was on Fox last year.
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: Well last year it was I don't know what I know.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: That's ye right, I think it's back to see.
- 1:45:50Speaker 5: But I think he was actually referencing this would be
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: like the second time. I don't think the Rams have
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: the kind of offense right now that you're talking about.
- 1:45:57Speaker 6: With the Greatest Show on Turf.
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: No, the super Bowl is on NBC.
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: Universal and.
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: No Tom Brady, But would would that be weird though,
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: if Tom Brady is if the game's on Fox and
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: the Patriots make the Super Bowl, is there any kind
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: of you know, attempt by the league to say we
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: shouldn't have Tom do that or is that interesting?
- 1:46:17Speaker 4: I mean because bias.
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: I think people would watch to see if he wouldn't
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: have any announces any of these games. J J watch
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: just announced t J Watts touchdown.
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: What now, I mean, I don't know.
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: I mean, you don't think people would be like great
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: to watch the Patriots and here Tom Brady, the whole
- 1:46:34Speaker 3: game won't happened.
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: I think people would hate watching.
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: They'll love me wat I mean, Akeman calls Cowboys games
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: all the time.
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: That's what I meant by like, I know it happens
- 1:46:44Speaker 5: on every game. Yeah, like doing Panthers games like I mean, everybody,
- 1:46:49Speaker 5: all these guys are former players and they.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: Played for teams and the Panthers could make it.
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: You know, I'm just saying any game you'll get any
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: other game that happens.
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: Well, more people, more people, more chance to more. You know,
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: you're putting more out in front of what.
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: I just be offended having to listen to Tom Brady
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: do the game.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: You know, what can I say? Real quick?
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: I said something I caught some of him, and I
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: have to be honest. I found him unlistenable early on,
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: but I think he's gotten better, Like I found it
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: a little bit more leaning into what do you see Tom?
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: What is your you know?
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: In the less it's just awkward silences and trying to
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: be like, I think he's he's he's better. I mean,
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: not surprising given how hard that guy works, but I
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: just I gotta give him credit.
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: I thought he was better. Everyone sucks but me, well,
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: you know, kind of the question that I think will
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: be asked after the season is less about his uh,
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: you know, his broadcast work. It's more his work at
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: the Raiders. How much of that team is his responsibility?
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: So some people say it a lot, Well, some people
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: are saying that, I don't know if it's true.
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: I mean, if it's a lot, then the yikes.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: I don't know if he's just there in a titular
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: sense or if he's actually making big decisions.
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: If he's making decisions, I think we learned that Tom
- 1:48:01Speaker 4: Brady the executive is not the coat.
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: Right at least John Elway was successful initially before he
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: lost it.
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: Nick says, damn you, Fred, He's from Maine. I want
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: to start by saying Fred is wrong about Permante's brothers.
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: Those sandwiches are absolutely killer, and I won't tolerate the
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: slander outside of horrible sandwich takes. I saw meme and
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: I thought it would be a fun game to pitch
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: to the crew if you had to pick three players
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: from the dynasty to currently join you at the Thanksgiving table.
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: Who would you choose three people from the dynasty to
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: join you at Thanksgiving?
- 1:48:40Speaker 4: Brady, Gronk, Edelman.
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: I don't know about Brady and Edelman.
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: I don't know about those two, and they wouldn't be
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: the most fun, But it's just that's that to me?
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: Is Brady's you?
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: Turkey Tom? What do you want?
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: Uh? I don't know.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: Let me think about that for a second.
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: You're going for fun, like honestly, the rable would be.
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: I wouldn't mind. Would be a lot of fun. He'd
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: take rocket shots at everybody and you're really gonna eat that?
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: Hunh Yeah.
- 1:49:06Speaker 6: I mean he'd be dumping all over you the whole meal.
- 1:49:09Speaker 4: Thanks for talking about the injuries.
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: He'd be he'd be funny. Rabel would be funny.
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: I don't.
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: It seems like you'd be pretty intense about the whole situation,
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: you know, he does certainly, Hey, anybody be fine with me.
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: Anybody would be fine.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: What did Brady do?
- 1:49:24Speaker 6: He seemed to be alluding to a slip of the
- 1:49:25Speaker 6: tongue that I'm not.
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he kind of used the N word, but
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: he really didn't. He meant no, he meant this. He
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: was saying it was supposed to be Dickerson, and he
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: kind of he said Nickerson, but he he stopped it
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: because he's started he said nicker I thought, and then
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: he stopped. He goes, oh, sorry about that.
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: Oh okay, that's that's yeah.
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: Crisis first.
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: Yeah, but like there's a difference if you like I thought,
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: maybe he got caught in a hot mic or something. Yeah,
- 1:49:57Speaker 5: like that's just miss you know, you just mispronounce a
- 1:50:01Speaker 5: word or whatever, the like, that's like he didn't mean
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: to say that. Well, Mike, that's great.
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: Yeah, wonder.
- 1:50:11Speaker 5: Curtison and I had to him out that night. Yeah,
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: Like he was so depressed he wouldn't answer our text.
- 1:50:16Speaker 5: Final we just went and grabbed him and dragged him
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: out with us. The combine Curtis and Saint Louis.
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: He says Evan, Yes, I'm totally with you when it
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: comes to the playoffs. I'd much rather play the Broncos
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: in Denver than play the Chiefs. I understand they have
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: a great defense. I understand the elevation in Denver's insane.
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: But I have more confidence in the Patriots offense putting
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: up enough points against Denver's defense than I do stopping
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes and outscoring the Chiefs. Bo Nix is a
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: bum casey held indeed to under eighteen total yards and
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: zero points in the fourth OT bottom line. I don't
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: care about the fourth and the OT bottom line. I
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: don't care about the Chiefs record or how it looks
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: right now. All they have to do is make it
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: in the experience of the team at its core of
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: the offense, defense and the coaching staff have been there
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: year after year. That's more intimidating than anything bo Nicks
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: and Sean Payton have to offer.
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: Yeah, Brady email, I.
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: Can't argue with anything of that email. I mean, I
- 1:51:14Speaker 5: just I just disagree. I'd rather play Kansas City in
- 1:51:17Speaker 5: Foxboro than Denver and Denver if it's the same Denver
- 1:51:22Speaker 5: and Denver, Kansas City and Kansas City. I'll take Denver, Yeah,
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: I guess I'll take the home game on Kansas City
- 1:51:28Speaker 5: that a road game in Denver.
- 1:51:29Speaker 4: I guess if those are my only two options, I
- 1:51:32Speaker 4: don't know. I like I look at it just as
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: Denver on its own in terms of like would I
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: be that. I still think the Patriots have a very
- 1:51:40Speaker 4: good chance of beating Denver, whether it's here or there.
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: But Kansas City the great quarterbacks worry me. I you know,
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: if they face the guy that because I think the
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: way to beat this Patriots team is to throw the
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: ball forty five times. That's how I think you win.
- 1:51:54Speaker 4: I think if you're if you're capable of having a
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: really big, you know, passing performance against them, I think
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: that you're going to be They're going to be in trouble.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: I mean, if you have a big passing performance against anybody,
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: you will do well. Right.
- 1:52:09Speaker 4: Yeah, But I'm just saying, like, I think that's their
- 1:52:11Speaker 4: weakness defensively is if I know what Evan's saying, livebackers
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: in safeties in the middle of the field, you know,
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: passing the football. I don't. I think their pass rush
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: is an average you know, like.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: Why because they played Nickel too much?
- 1:52:25Speaker 5: Right, It's one of the reasons why I'm not overly
- 1:52:27Speaker 5: concerned with what the amount of running yards that Chase
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: Brown had this week, because while those yards are that's
- 1:52:34Speaker 5: times they're not completing passes. I think Evan's right. I
- 1:52:36Speaker 5: think the way to beat the Patriots is to make
- 1:52:38Speaker 5: plays in the passing game.
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: Chase writes in Evan mentioned for Jenga blocks being Diggs, Williams, Campbell,
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: and Gonzo. Would you agree that Marcus Jones might be
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: number five? I honestly questioned him being a captain at
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: the beginning of the year, and wow, has he proven
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: me wrong. Yeah, he's played really well.
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: I think just the thing I've accepted with Marcus Jones
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: is that he's going to be a a target for
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: a lot of teams. Like it's just you can see
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: it every game, trying to get I mean, when Kasiki
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: got on Marcus Jones, he's like got the you know,
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: the arm up. So you know, he makes his fair
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: share of plays. But you know the other one was
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: crazy catch. I forget which guy was over it, Tinsley
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: had over him. You know, like it's That's just a
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: matter of if you choose to play him in the
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: slot and you play them a lot, like those are
- 1:53:22Speaker 3: gonna be plays that you might give up from time
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: to time, but he makes up for it with punt
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: returns and that kind of stuff.
- 1:53:27Speaker 4: So it's dime to play more dime Gretchen in the
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: Saqua Washington, she said the difference between Tom and other
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: former players is his ownership interest.
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: He has a direct financial benefit with the Raiders. Former
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: players do not. They have personal interests.
- 1:53:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean that's I agree with that.
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: I mean, I that'd be more of an issue if
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: it was the Raiders in the Super Bowl, I think
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: than just we're talking about the Patriots general annoyance for
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: everybody that they got a whole lot of Patriots coming
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: at them for the whole Super Bowl.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: Norie from Arizona. On handwritten notes, Evan really wants to
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: give a handwritten note to his ex and o's idol,
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: Dan Rolofsky. The note will state how he'd like to
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: audition for an ESPN NFL live his dream job to
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: work alongside his crush. Meta times.
- 1:54:13Speaker 4: Wow, those are a lot of words.
- 1:54:16Speaker 6: None of which were necessarily false.
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: I would say Dan Orlovsky and I have a complicated relationship,
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: so no, we you know we we we like to
- 1:54:31Speaker 4: share in the love of football in All twenty two.
- 1:54:35Speaker 4: But his comments in the past about Drake May, you know, really.
- 1:54:38Speaker 6: Just can't overlook him for Fred.
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: Yeah, there the receipts live on. You know, if it
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: was up to Dani Orlovsky, Drake May would still be
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: on the bench right now as he's putting together an
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: MVP season on a ten and two team. So you know,
- 1:54:50Speaker 4: I just I love you, Dan, Sorry, can't help it.
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: Mike chat in Atlanta, I know it sucks that the
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: universe decided to take away some of our most important players,
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: but surprisingly, I'm not worried. I've just been so impressed
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: by Mike Rabel and his staff. I know the knee
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: jerk reaction from everyone is going to be to talk
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: about how bad for Darien Lowe is, but let's have
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: some faith in Doug Moron. Low and Brown came into
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: the game on Sunday and I feel like they didn't
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: miss a beat. There's a night and date difference between
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: the coaching from last year and this year. I feel
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: like that's what's going to save the season. That's what
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: I'm banking onto, you said, and save.
- 1:55:29Speaker 4: The season as such a like like I don't know.
- 1:55:33Speaker 4: I mean the season is right like they're already going
- 1:55:36Speaker 4: to the playoffs. I just need those guys back. If
- 1:55:39Speaker 4: you're gonna make noise in the playoffs, you're gonna need
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: Campbell and Williams back.
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: CP right, sin Us fans are quote angry at barely
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: beating one of the worst teams in the league because
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: we may have the quarterback and some solid young players,
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: but they're also going to lose Digs in some key
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: veteran and soon. The front office got lucky with Diggs
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: because their first option has been a non factor in
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: injury prone Chris Godwin and their draft pick, and Kyle
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: Williams has shown essentially nothing. Not saying that I agree
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: with this, but I do see how this could be
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: the best team. The best this team has player wise
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: and schedule wise. The Bills, Chiefs and Ravens have had
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: off years, and we're not expecting that next year. This
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: is the year to really compete for champions So he's
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: saying this is it do or die.
- 1:56:30Speaker 6: I don't think it's do or die.
- 1:56:31Speaker 5: I think this is a building process, and I think
- 1:56:35Speaker 5: this is the way you've won more games than not.
- 1:56:37Speaker 5: And I think suddenly this game seemed to really resonate
- 1:56:40Speaker 5: with everybody, like how are we beating these bad teams
- 1:56:43Speaker 5: only like this? And no one seemed to say this
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: after the Atlanta game, And no one seemed to say
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: this after the Miami game, and no one seemed to
- 1:56:49Speaker 5: say this after the Tampa game, Like these teams are
- 1:56:52Speaker 5: not that good that they're playing and more often than
- 1:56:55Speaker 5: like New Orleans, New Orleans is one of the worst
- 1:56:56Speaker 5: teams in football. They had the ball with a chance
- 1:56:59Speaker 5: to win the game in the last two minutes. No
- 1:57:01Speaker 5: one was up in arms that day. Is it just
- 1:57:02Speaker 5: because the goalpost it moved that much? So today it's
- 1:57:06Speaker 5: it's that that's an honest question.
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: I think they want them to be on an upward
- 1:57:10Speaker 4: trajectory going into the playoffs, because, like we were talking
- 1:57:13Speaker 4: about earlier, more times than not, it's the teams that
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: peak in December and January. It's not the team that
- 1:57:19Speaker 4: flips the switch. And I think, you know not to
- 1:57:21Speaker 4: do that whole thing. But the concern is probably that
- 1:57:24Speaker 4: they peaked too early, right, And I.
- 1:57:25Speaker 6: Just don't know as much different They're playing.
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: Everything they possibly could out of what they had, and
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: then once those top line guys that they brought in
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: started getting hurt, now it's I.
- 1:57:37Speaker 5: Thought they played better against the Jets on the Thursday
- 1:57:40Speaker 5: night game than they did Sunday in Cincinnati, but not
- 1:57:43Speaker 5: by a lot, not not, I mean not a huge
- 1:57:45Speaker 5: difference to me, and they both wretchedly bad teams.
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: I thought they played much better defense in Cincinnati.
- 1:57:50Speaker 6: I agree.
- 1:57:52Speaker 5: I totally agree.
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: Cat ball's going through their hands and couldn't catch the passes.
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: One more emails from Barton Poland. If I see another
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: tweet or post or anything saying that it's Elliott Wool's
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: fault that he didn't add any offensive line help at
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: the deadline, I'm going to lose my mind. Anyone thinking
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: a team would trade away a quality O line depth
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: has absolutely no understanding of how the NFL works. The
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: only linemen who are realistically available were guys like Trevor Penning,
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: who absolutely sucks. The O line depth in the league
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: is bad for every single team, so nobody is getting
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: rid of anyone that is remotely capable of playing the position.
- 1:58:29Speaker 3: So there, right, you know, they they hung on to
- 1:58:34Speaker 3: Vederian Lowe. I mean he was hurt all summer. I
- 1:58:36Speaker 3: mean he didn't come back into what like mid August
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: was and he finally even started practicing. So I think
- 1:58:41Speaker 3: they continue. Elliot Will said, we've always thought he has
- 1:58:43Speaker 3: good feet.
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: We've seen something there. I don't know.
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:58:46Speaker 2: We'll see how it all comes together with the new
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: coaching staff.
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: And again, like he was on the injury portal lot
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: last year, I'm.
- 1:58:51Speaker 3: Not giving him an excuse, but let's see what this
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: guy who's rest lines up.
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: I given him a I give them like Josh, well,
- 1:58:59Speaker 4: he'll have chips, they'll they'll have help on that side,
- 1:59:02Speaker 4: Like they're not going to leave him on an island
- 1:59:04Speaker 4: to go up against Brian Burns on Monday night. And
- 1:59:07Speaker 4: I give Josh McDaniels more of that. Like, I think
- 1:59:11Speaker 4: he's better at that than just about anybody in terms
- 1:59:13Speaker 4: of understanding where the weaknesses are potentially are and using
- 1:59:18Speaker 4: things to help to that spot. I don't think that
- 1:59:20Speaker 4: he's going to be last year's coaching staff would just
- 1:59:23Speaker 4: kind of put those guys out.
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: For the best. Yeah, all right, we are done, but
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: we're back tomorrow. The day before Thanksgiving. No show on Thanksgiving.
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: We'll take the day off, but we will be here
