- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mike Lane. Entering game five with this five game trip,
- 0:03Speaker 1: yere one two and one so far on the trip,
- 0:06Speaker 1: what have you made of these first four games? What
- 0:07Speaker 1: have you liked about your team's performance, and where do
- 0:09Speaker 1: you feel the krack and have left something on the table?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Ah, I think you know, overall, if you look at
- 0:16Speaker 2: the four game stretch, you know, I've liked a lot
- 0:20Speaker 2: about our game. I didn't like the New Jersey game
- 0:23Speaker 2: much at all. I thought that we left something on
- 0:26Speaker 2: the table there. We could have been better, and if
- 0:28Speaker 2: we were better, we would have, you know, won that
- 0:31Speaker 2: game in regulation. Certainly giving up the lead in Carolina,
- 0:36Speaker 2: you know that hurts, so I mean would have, could have?
- 0:40Speaker 2: Should have? You know, we've actually had opportunities to win
- 0:43Speaker 2: every game on this trip, and you know we got
- 0:46Speaker 2: to find a way here to to get it done.
- 0:48Speaker 1: In Utah today, you've talked a lot about starts and
- 0:50Speaker 1: needing to get off to better starts. You do over
- 0:53Speaker 1: You've overcome a couple of deficits to nothing. In Boston,
- 0:56Speaker 1: you battle the entire night. What do you feel has
- 1:00Speaker 1: been the biggest reason why the Kraken haven't been able
- 1:02Speaker 1: to start on time? So to speak in this on
- 1:05Speaker 1: this road trip.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I just think that, you know, there's situation where
- 1:12Speaker 2: maybe we need a timely save. I haven't liked two
- 1:15Speaker 2: of the goals that they've scored, the first Ranger goal
- 1:18Speaker 2: in the first Boston goals, So you know, if those
- 1:22Speaker 2: if those don't go in the net, we're talking about
- 1:23Speaker 2: a different story on the starts. So you know, at
- 1:27Speaker 2: the end of the day, our goaltenders have played extremely
- 1:30Speaker 2: well for us. We need to help them out right office,
- 1:33Speaker 2: right off the start of the game and not put
- 1:35Speaker 2: them in a situation where they have to make a sicky.
- 1:37Speaker 1: You were asked earlier today about the schedule, and I
- 1:39Speaker 1: know you've talked so much about it, but now going
- 1:41Speaker 1: home for the next five games, even though you're playing
- 1:43Speaker 1: every other day, you're still going to get some time
- 1:45Speaker 1: in your own bed, around your families, what have you.
- 1:47Speaker 1: What do you feel that's going to do for the
- 1:49Speaker 1: Cracking as they try to continue to maintain that third
- 1:52Speaker 1: spot in the Pacific Division.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to find out, aren't we. You know,
- 1:56Speaker 2: we are road records good this year. Home record is
- 2:00Speaker 2: pretty good this year as well. You know, we had
- 2:02Speaker 2: that stretch in December where we faltered, but we're certainly
- 2:06Speaker 2: going to need some home cooking here and we're going
- 2:08Speaker 2: to need to, you know, make some hay at home,
- 2:11Speaker 2: so to speak. Got some important hockey games coming up
- 2:15Speaker 2: and we need to win them.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Your power plays jumping into the top ten in the NHL.
- 2:18Speaker 1: What's been going right for this group?
- 2:21Speaker 2: I would say that certainly it starts with, you know,
- 2:24Speaker 2: the message to the guys, and they're executing that message.
- 2:29Speaker 2: You know, they're moving the puck quickly, and I think
- 2:33Speaker 2: we're scoring. You know, our percentage of shots and our
- 2:38Speaker 2: sort of sniping ability has been pretty good. Certainly, Jared mccannback.
- 2:42Speaker 2: We've talked about this guy when he wasn't on our team.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I've really watched him play a lot here lately in
- 2:52Speaker 2: terms of not knowing his game because he was injured.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Full respect for this guy. He's an elite player, He's
- 2:59Speaker 2: an elite thinker. There's little things that he does out
- 3:02Speaker 2: there on the power play that you know, people that
- 3:07Speaker 2: don't know the game quite as well and don't understand,
- 3:10Speaker 2: but the littlest of things and they're making a big difference.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Boston was the first time all season the crack and
- 3:16Speaker 1: have had a healthy compliment of skaters. What does that
- 3:20Speaker 1: mean for this team moving forward? When you look at
- 3:22Speaker 1: the potential and the possibilities of your lineup, matchups, jumbling
- 3:26Speaker 1: up the lines, things that you can do. I mean,
- 3:28Speaker 1: this is an obvious question, but how does it feel,
- 3:30Speaker 1: finally forty five games into the season to finally have
- 3:34Speaker 1: all your skaters healthy?
- 3:35Speaker 2: Well, you know again, it's interesting when you say it's
- 3:38Speaker 2: forty five games of a season and you finally get
- 3:40Speaker 2: all your skaters healthy. Now there's a little bit of
- 3:44Speaker 2: a situation where none of these guys have played together. Yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 2: and so you're back to a little bit of finding
- 3:49Speaker 2: some chemistry again. Even though you've got everybody. It sounds
- 3:53Speaker 2: like it's a great thing. It can be a great thing.
- 3:56Speaker 2: But we need to gel here really quickly.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Utah has been playing well here as of late, sitting
- 4:01Speaker 1: one point ahead of Seattle. Didn't get the win last
- 4:04Speaker 1: time here in December when you played this group. What
- 4:06Speaker 1: do you feel is going to be the most important
- 4:09Speaker 1: factor for the krack in here tonight.
- 4:10Speaker 2: We've got to make them defend. We've got to put
- 4:12Speaker 2: them into a position where they have to spend some
- 4:14Speaker 2: time in their own zone as opposed to spending time
- 4:17Speaker 2: in our zone. That's the first and foremost, and the
- 4:20Speaker 2: second thing is we've got to manage to puck. Their
- 4:22Speaker 2: transition game is off the charts.
