- 0:00Here's my controversial opinion on flowers and gifts in the
- 0:04early stages of dating. All right, hang on.
- 0:07So first of all, I think when a man brings a woman flowers and
- 0:10he doesn't even know where it's a first date and he's never even
- 0:13spent time with her, it's a very empty gesture.
- 0:18I had somebody on one of my lives recently, say, but it's a
- 0:20kind, considerate. It's not kind or considerate.
- 0:23It's more at that point about him, I think you know, than than
- 0:27you. So, you know, I think that I
- 0:31think showing up on time, asking the right questions, really
- 0:34being present in the moment is, is way more considerate and
- 0:40appropriate than just showing up with these empty flowers Like,
- 0:43oh, I hope you like me, I don't know you at all.
- 0:46But here's the and it's like, I don't mean to sound like a
- 0:49bitcher about it, but you know what?
- 0:51It's just an empty, false gesture.
- 0:53And it's it's insincere, so I hate it.
- 0:56Send somebody flowers. Give them flowers once you know
- 1:00them, once you like them first. Get to know somebody and let
- 1:04them get to know you. Not without the distraction.
- 1:07And plus, flowers can be awkward on a first date, especially if
- 1:09you show up to the restaurant. Like, where's she going to put
- 1:11it? Where's she going to put it?
- 1:12I know a guy once, he was a nice guy but a little clueless.
- 1:16He he said when he goes out on a first date, he always brings
- 1:19flowers but he keeps them in the trunk.
- 1:21And then that way, after the date, if he likes her when
- 1:24they're walking out, he'd open the trunk and give her flowers.
- 1:27Holy moly. Talk about insincere gestures.
- 1:30OK, Same goes for gifts over the top.
- 1:33Expensive gifts when you don't know somebody.
- 1:36OK, ladies, don't be a person who takes these gifts.
- 1:39Like, I would never, never in a million years would I ever take
- 1:42a gift from a man that's an extravagant gift or an expensive
- 1:47gift if I didn't know him extremely, extremely well
- 1:51Because I don't want him spending money on me.
- 1:53I I don't want him wasting his money.
- 1:55I would feel bad taking it and it's just not who I am.
- 1:59I'd rather know the depth of a person.
- 2:01I want to know the substance of a person.
- 2:03I want to know their soul, their personality, their brains, their
- 2:07wallet and gifts that they're giving me matter nothing to me.
- 2:11If a guy showed up and he said hey Gina, I know your favorite
- 2:14animal charity is XYZ, Rover Ranger Rescue, for example, and
- 2:18I just donated $5000 or $1000 or $500, I would be like, now that
- 2:25guy's impressing me, right? So don't get distracted by these
- 2:29superficial flashy things unless you want a superficial flashy
- 2:33person and a superficial flashy life.
- 2:36If you want to be a person of substance and depth, then don't
- 2:40focus on this. Focus on this.
- 2:42Focus on this. Getting to know somebody, OK?
- 2:45And when they want to give you the expensive gifts, just gosh,
- 2:48I'm so flattered. But you can donate to my
- 2:50favorite charity. That would mean more to me than
- 2:52even a gift. Boom.
- 2:54You want to score points with somebody?
- 2:55You do that. All right, open up.
