  Speaker 1: There he is.
• 2:44
Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning.
• 2:45
  Speaker 1: Good morning.
• 2:46
  Speaker 1: How are you?
• 2:48
  Speaker 4: Well, I'm unmuted.
• 2:49
Speaker 4: That makes it a little bit better it does it does.
• 2:52
Speaker 1: Where are you located?
• 2:54
Speaker 4: I'm actually located in Arkansas, right outside Eureka Springs.
• 2:59
Speaker 4: Oh, are you a.
• 3:00
  Speaker 4: Razorback fan.
• 3:01
  Speaker 4: I'm not, but I'm a Razorback fan.
• 3:04
  Speaker 4: I'm not, but I'm a Razorback fan.
• 3:05
Speaker 4: Does that count for anything?
• 3:06
Speaker 1: No, yeah Well, it does actually Roll, tide.
• 3:09
  Speaker 1: I mean, it's all I can say.
• 3:10
Speaker 3: Boomer, sooner Go blue yeah.
• 3:12
Speaker 1: So, at any rate.
• 3:12
Speaker 1: So tell me about what you do over there.
• 3:16
Speaker 1: I understand that you're part of the Midwest Blue Oval Club.
• 3:23
Speaker 1: I got a feeling I know what the blue oval club is.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: Something to do, something to do with a brand that starts with f well, yes, that's uh.
• 3:30
Speaker 4: We started the blue oval club in uh 2014.
• 3:33
Speaker 4: Um, we felt going to the car shows and putting money in the uh the pocket of the person doing the show was not advantageous to what we, to what our group, was trying to do.
• 3:47
Speaker 1: What is your group trying to do?
• 3:49
Speaker 4: Well, we were trying to donate back to the communities out of the car shows.
• 3:53
Speaker 4: So we created the Midwest Blue Oval Club as a 501c3.
• 3:58
  Speaker 4: We're a nonprofit organization.
• 4:01
Speaker 4: We strictly try to do car shows in small towns and donate 100% of the proceeds back to the local charities.
• 4:08
  Speaker 1: Good for you.
• 4:08
Speaker 1: I commend you on that, sir.
• 4:11
Speaker 4: So over the years we've donated hundreds of thousands of dollars back to local communities and charities.
• 4:16
Speaker 4: That helps them throughout.
• 4:18
Speaker 4: But in the meantime we're having fun with the car shows that we put on and the people that come see us at the car shows.
• 4:24
Speaker 1: And do you have any big car shows coming up, or are they all big to you?
• 4:28
Speaker 4: Well, they're all big to us, but we do.
• 4:30
Speaker 4: We have one here in Eureka Springs, which it was a Mustang show that had been going on here for years and years and the gentleman that was running it had health problems and I took it over in 2014, started running the show and we built it up into a little bit bigger show.
• 4:48
Speaker 4: We now do about three to four days' worth of cruises, events, sightseeing, road rallies, things of that nature, and then on Saturday we have a car show and we get somewhere 200, 250 cars all in a small little parking lot inside of Eureka Springs.
• 5:08
Speaker 4: It's quite cozy and people really enjoy it.
• 5:12
Speaker 1: Is it all limited to Ford Mustangs?
• 5:15
Speaker 4: It's all limited to Mustangs and Ford-powered vehicles.
• 5:18
  Speaker 1: Gotcha Okay.
• 5:19
Speaker 1: So in other words, I could have a 38 Chevy with a Ford Coyote engine in it.
• 5:24
Speaker 4: You could and we would let you in.
• 5:26
Speaker 4: Remember, we're non-profit, so we don't get too picky on that.
• 5:30
Speaker 4: We'll still take your entry fee into the car.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: And my freakazoid car.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: You'd be at the back of the line, but you could get in.
• 5:38
Speaker 4: You park over there, Don, the best one we had come was a I think it was a 76 Corvette with a Ford 289 engine.
• 5:47
Speaker 1: Oh my God, that's sacrilegious isn't?
• 5:49
Speaker 2: it Isn't that like a— that's the opposite direction.
• 5:52
Speaker 4: We all had to go look at it more than once, no doubt.
• 5:56
  Speaker 1: Bizarro world there.
• 5:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, I can only imagine the motor mount to transition from Chevy to Ford.
• 6:01
Speaker 1: It's just the other way around.
• 6:03
Speaker 2: I've got a 58-whatever and I'll drop an LS in it.
• 6:07
  Speaker 1: That's it, that's it.
• 6:09
Speaker 4: Well, this is the start of our show season in Eureka Springs, arkansas.
• 6:12
Speaker 4: If you've never been here, the roads are great, the driving, I want to say.
• 6:16
Speaker 4: A million motorcyclists come here to drive the roads every year.
• 6:19
Speaker 4: Where is Eureka Springs?
• 6:20
Speaker 2: Is it near Hot Springs when?
• 6:20
  Speaker 1: is Eureka.
• 6:20
  Speaker 2: Springs, is it?
• 6:23
  Speaker 4: near Hot Springs.
• 6:24
Speaker 4: No, we are about three and a half hours north of Hot Springs.
• 6:27
Speaker 4: Okay, where basically, eureka Springs is about 20 miles south of the Missouri border.
• 6:32
  Speaker 4: Okay, into Arkansas.
• 6:33
Speaker 4: It's the start of the.
• 6:35
Speaker 4: It's up by the Buffalo River.
• 6:39
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 6:39
Speaker 4: It's still the Ozarks, but it's the start of the Boston Mountains that run all the way down and end up into Hot Springs.
• 6:46
Speaker 1: Well, this is typically the most beautiful time of the year up there.
• 6:50
Speaker 4: We're just getting a lot of pollen right at the moment, but I'm sure everything will be green soon enough.
• 6:55
  Speaker 1: Yep, yep, yep.
• 6:57
Speaker 4: So this is the kickoff.
• 6:58
Speaker 4: Eureka Spring Show is the kickoff of our show season for the Midwest Blue Oval Club.
• 7:02
Speaker 4: We'll have this and it's always the weekend after memorial weekend, um, so we have a lot of the town that helps us with hotel rooms, uh, and all the events that we can do, because it's after one of their busiest weekends, um and and generally speaking, uh, you know it's an an odd town that we have a population of 2,071, but there's 2,600 hotel rooms in this town.
• 7:31
Speaker 1: Well, obviously, obviously, it's a vacation destination.
• 7:36
  Speaker 4: It is.
• 7:36
  Speaker 4: It's also.
• 7:37
Speaker 4: I think somebody told me once there's more marriages done in Eureka Springs than there is in Las Vegas.
• 7:42
Speaker 1: You know, I've heard of Eureka Springs but I didn't realize that it was only 2,000 people that call home there.
• 7:49
Speaker 4: Yep, that's all we've got at the moment, and it's growing.
• 7:52
Speaker 4: We're getting a lot of influx coming into this area from, and we're across the lake from, bentonville, rogers, fayetteville.
• 8:02
Speaker 1: So you've got a Walmart city there.
• 8:05
  Speaker 4: We do.
• 8:05
Speaker 4: We have Walmart store number one.
• 8:07
  Speaker 1: Do you really?
• 8:08
Speaker 1: Is that where it is?
• 8:10
Speaker 2: Oh my God, You're north of Joplin we are south of Joplin.
• 8:15
Speaker 3: South of Joplin, okay yeah, the northern Arkansas, gotcha yeah, northern Arkansas is a really pretty area in Arkansas.
• 8:22
Speaker 4: I don't even feel like it's part of Arkansas, just based on the mountainous that's here.
• 8:28
Speaker 1: Jeff, what do you do for a living?
• 8:30
Speaker 4: Well, I'm actually retired now.
• 8:31
Speaker 4: You introduced me as R&A Motorsports, but that was when we were in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
• 8:38
Speaker 4: I had that business for 20-plus years and when the pandemic hit we kind of slowed down a little bit, we and we decided to move to arkansas.
• 8:47
Speaker 4: Now we're a subsidiary of rna motorsports.
• 8:51
Speaker 4: We are yellowstone mustang ranch and we are assembling and building shelby mustangs right now and we wait a minute?
• 9:01
  Speaker 1: I I didn't.
• 9:01
Speaker 1: Are they still in business?
• 9:03
Speaker 1: Shelby mustangs yes, well.
• 9:04
Speaker 1: Well, I know that you are Restorations or what?
• 9:07
Speaker 4: These are all restorations and we take a complete car and disassemble it and hand-build every single piece from scratch.
• 9:16
Speaker 4: You know, if we have to or restore the actual piece, that's there.
• 9:21
Speaker 4: I can give you a little heads up or a look here if I turn this.
• 9:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, please do all right.
• 9:28
Speaker 4: So here is the actual shop and we tell people that we build your car on a piece of white carpet.
• 9:33
Speaker 4: Well, that's true, because we can come and go out of your car without having shoes on and scratch up things coming and going as we build the car this particular car is a 67 shelby gt500.
• 9:44
Speaker 4: It had just come out of the paint shop.
• 9:46
Speaker 4: It is starting assembly right now.
• 9:48
Speaker 4: It's in a stage where the headliner goes in first and then we work on the dash and the glass.
• 9:53
Speaker 4: Uh, assembling the car, uh, lots, it's completely apart.
• 9:59
Speaker 4: Pieces and parts are all laid out to where, um, we can start assembling, we?
• 10:06
Speaker 4: How long have you?
• 10:06
Speaker 1: how long have you had the car uh and uh?
• 10:09
Speaker 1: Is there a usual time frame that you do these complete restorations?
• 10:12
Speaker 1: Does it take years?
• 10:15
Speaker 4: about 18 months, sometimes a little less, depending on how rough the car is.
• 10:19
Speaker 4: This is where parts are all cataloged.
• 10:21
Speaker 4: Looked at, uh, here's a part that's been restored, but here's a part that hasn't been.
• 10:27
Speaker 4: So we start and clean all that stuff up.
• 10:29
Speaker 4: We've got the equipment.
• 10:31
Speaker 4: This is a parts tumbler, where the parts are put in there so they massage to look fresh and new bare metal.
• 10:40
Speaker 1: How big is your shop, Jeff?
• 10:41
Speaker 4: More parts laid out that we've got to work on.
• 10:42
Speaker 1: How many square feet you got there?
• 10:46
Speaker 4: We're in a 40 by 70 facility and this is just the assembly room.
• 10:51
Speaker 4: Basically, for the cars we have a complete parts department and then we have another storage facility across the street.
• 10:58
Speaker 2: Wow, that's impressive how many folks you got working with you.
• 11:03
Speaker 4: Me, myself and I, all three of us.
• 11:05
Speaker 1: Oh wow, oh my gosh, You're doing all this on your own.
• 11:08
  Speaker 4: I am.
• 11:09
Speaker 4: I have a little assistance that comes in every once in a while, but I've been doing this for quite a while.
• 11:14
Speaker 4: I'm pretty used to assembling and building cars, and it's the small parts that take a lot of time.
• 11:19
Speaker 4: For instance, here is the setup original power steering hoses, and I am duplicating them with new ink stamps and numbers.
• 11:28
Speaker 4: Uh, I could spend hours putting all that together what?
• 11:31
Speaker 1: do you have a cot in the back room that you just kind of live there?
• 11:36
Speaker 4: actually, it's my house too, so that's why I'm in a garage that's carpeted.
• 11:40
  Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
• 11:41
Speaker 1: So you've got every guy's, every car guy's dream to have a huge shop in the back.
• 11:47
Speaker 1: You go out there and quote, unquote, tinker and make a living at it correct.
• 11:51
Speaker 4: You know I get cars in.
• 11:52
Speaker 4: This car's uh in from uh arizona.
• 11:57
Speaker 4: It was purchased at an auction and then it was sent here for me to do some detailed cleanup on it.
• 12:01
Speaker 4: Um, it's got a lot of, from dirty exhaust to rusty uh drive shafts and we can't have that I've kind of put together.
• 12:12
Speaker 4: I've got a done car here and this will give you an example of how nice a driveshaft looks.
• 12:19
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's clean, looks brand new.
• 12:21
Speaker 4: And the exhaust is all done properly with date codes, part numbers, all things of that nature.
• 12:30
Speaker 4: That all goes into the car itself.
• 12:33
Speaker 4: This particular car was purchased and delivered to New York in March 27th of 1967.
• 12:42
Speaker 4: It was supposed to go to the New York Auto Show on April 1st.
• 12:47
Speaker 4: I have warranty paperwork on it that indicates they had a problem on March 28th where they had to rebuild the engine.
• 12:56
Speaker 4: This particular car is a factory supercharged Shelby that they only made 28 of.
• 13:03
  Speaker 4: Wow, it's a GT350.
• 13:05
Speaker 4: All the supercharged cars were GT350s, and so this car has an interesting life story where, before it ever left the dealer, it got rebuilt.
• 13:16
  Speaker 1: My gosh.
• 13:17
Speaker 1: You know this is absolutely fascinating to me.
• 13:19
Speaker 1: I want to know more about you.
• 13:21
Speaker 1: How did you gain all of this knowledge in Mustangs?
• 13:25
Speaker 4: Well, it started off in the early 70s where I was able to purchase luckily enough, purchase a 68 Shelby for the measly sum of $3,500.
• 13:37
Speaker 4: And my parents told me I needed to exit the house because I had paid more money for my first car than they paid for their car.
• 13:44
Speaker 4: So I started cleaning it up and detailing it because it was a pretty original car, and I started taking it to shows in the early 70s and people would ask me to take care of their car.
• 13:57
Speaker 4: So in turn I'd buy Shelbys and clean them up and fix them and I'd do them for other people and it kind of became more of work than it was a hobby.
• 14:07
Speaker 4: So I started learning about the cars as I took them apart and put them together and it just became more and more of a passion to learn as much as I could about these cars.
• 14:18
Speaker 1: So I think we're going to change your name to Jeff Shelby Yergovich, is that okay?
• 14:23
Speaker 4: Well, Carol was a good friend of mine, but I shouldn't take his name.
• 14:26
Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I respect that for sure.
• 14:28
Speaker 1: Well, absolutely stunningly beautiful work, Jeff.
• 14:32
Speaker 1: I mean, you know like all of us want to come up there and just sit around and watch you do your thing.
• 14:39
Speaker 4: I get that happen every once in a while where somebody wants to come into the shop and say can I just hang out and watch you for a while or learn?
• 14:46
Speaker 4: I get other restoration shops come to me and want to know how I can figure out how to restore certain parts.
• 14:52
Speaker 4: And I try to retain all the original parts on a car instead of just running out and buying a bunch of aftermarket parts to put on it.
• 14:57
Speaker 4: So you've got to be somewhat thinking on how you're going to restore pieces and parts.
• 15:02
Speaker 4: I do a lot of carburetors, I do a lot of distributors for people and I make them look like they're brand new out of a box when it's all said and done.
• 15:10
Speaker 2: Jeff, what is your legacy going to be?
• 15:12
Speaker 2: Are you teaching the younger group of folks, the younger car builders, younger auto enthusiasts, through the schools or anything?
• 15:19
Speaker 2: Are you working with them to maybe take up where you leave off eventually?
• 15:24
  Speaker 4: That's my goal.
• 15:24
Speaker 4: I mean, everybody's told me I should write a book on what I know and what you ain't got time to write no book, you better get after it, yeah.
• 15:31
  Speaker 4: I've got.
• 15:32
Speaker 4: I've got a young guy that took over his dad's Mustang business in Chicago and um, he's a younger guy and he comes down periodically and works with me for two or three days to learn what, what I am doing, so he can apply it on.
• 15:47
Speaker 4: So I am teaching the younger generation to carry on what I'm doing when I'm, when I'm gone.
• 15:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, so you have a website we can go to and check out all your stuff.
• 15:58
Speaker 4: I do not have a website.
• 15:59
Speaker 4: Once I closed the main business down, I didn't renew any of that stuff to get up there and do it.
• 16:06
Speaker 4: Mainly word of mouth is how I get found and that's kind of how you found me.
• 16:10
Speaker 4: I just don't publicize a lot of stuff.
• 16:13
Speaker 4: These cars are kind of expensive and uh, I'm kind of in the middle of nowhere here and and that's kind of the way you want like my, I like it, he's too busy to manage a website all right, well, I know I got that, but I mean he does so much work.
• 16:27
Speaker 1: I would imagine that you know you probably got somebody's chomping at the bit to run your website just to get close to you what you do over there, um.
• 16:35
Speaker 1: So what is the name of your business?
• 16:38
Speaker 4: the name of the business is yellowstone mustang ranch okay, yellowstone mustang ranch, you got that mars, yeah I wrote it down, uh, and he's got another.
• 16:47
Speaker 3: I mean, his event's going to be if you we were talking about vacations earlier his event's going to be the weekend after memorial weekend, but then he's got a buddy that's going to be on our show next week.
• 16:57
Speaker 3: That's got an event the next week.
• 16:58
Speaker 3: So if you want to go on vacation for a week, you can actually make both of them.
• 17:01
Speaker 3: And then Labor Day weekend, jeff is going to be at a big Shelby event that we're going to try and set up something to, where we can talk to him from there, because they're going to actually give a car away.
• 17:13
Speaker 3: Aaron Shelby's going to be there and a bunch of people.
• 17:17
  Speaker 4: Well, I'm excited.
• 17:17
Speaker 4: I'm also on the board of directors for the Mustang Club of America and I'm also the assistant national head judge for all the Shelbys 65 to 70.
• 17:26
  Speaker 4: Wow.
• 17:27
Speaker 1: So you know a fellow by the name of Randy Weldon.
• 17:31
Speaker 4: Randy Weldon really good.
• 17:32
Speaker 4: I was with Randy Weldon at the 60th in uh in in birmingham, alabama.
• 17:39
Speaker 4: I was uh helping run that event.
• 17:41
Speaker 4: Randy was our uh spokesman on the microphone down at the track all day yeah, well, we just had him on recently.
• 17:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, he said to tell you hi yeah, we, we talked to randy.

• 22:37
Speaker 3: So this week in auto history there, uh, there's been some, some things going on here.
• 22:42
Speaker 2: The first production packard you know the thing going on, that hasn't been.
• 22:45
Speaker 3: You know, it's been a while since you've seen a packard, I'm sure, but a model b actually, I've never been inside of a packard, really.
• 22:51
Speaker 3: No, you yes you probably had one, not that, no, no, I it was a long time ago, but I I do remember being in the packard.
• 22:59
Speaker 3: Really it was considered a very luxurious.
• 23:02
Speaker 1: I was in laurie brown's hudson hornet.
• 23:04
Speaker 1: I bet you and I was embarrassed to death because it was the ugliest car I'd ever seen in my entire life, like a big bug, a big beetle yeah, yeah, this packard was.
• 23:13
Speaker 3: It was pretty nice, uh.
• 23:14
Speaker 3: But the first production packard, a model b, was shipped out this week in 1900 to a company official.
• 23:21
Speaker 3: George L West actually got the first one.
• 23:23
Speaker 3: Also this week, the Los Angeles Motor Dome opened in 1910.
• 23:31
Speaker 3: The track was constructed entirely of wood, two-by-fours, and had a big steep bank on it.
• 23:37
Speaker 3: There's actually another picture there, jeff Yep coming up.
• 23:39
Speaker 3: Yep, it's a one-mile track, which surprised me that it was so big.
• 23:43
Speaker 3: Wow, they would actually get up to where they would do 100 miles an hour on this wooden track.
• 23:48
Speaker 3: What year was this?
• 23:49
Speaker 3: This was in 1910 when it opened.
• 23:52
Speaker 2: That's when the year they discovered centrifugal force.
• 23:54
Speaker 2: Exactly that, and wood.
• 23:56
  Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 23:57
Speaker 3: So it got expensive to keep up the wooden track great depression and so it kind of ended all that and it went away.
• 24:02
Speaker 3: But also this year this week, in 1955, german automaker volkswagen actually created volkswagen of america in new jersey.
• 24:12
  Speaker 3: That's a cool shot.
• 24:13
Speaker 3: That's when the volkswagen came.
• 24:14
Speaker 3: They were importing some of them, but that was the volkswagen of america.
• 24:18
Speaker 3: They were here to stay.
• 24:18
Speaker 3: Then in april of 1967, general motors reaches the milestone of actually having a hundred million cars produced in the united states.
• 24:29
Speaker 3: That particular car, the hundred millionth, was a 1967 chevy caprice.
• 24:34
Speaker 3: And the other thing was they were the first manufacturer to actually reach that milestone of creating 100 million cars and they were all recalled.
• 24:43
Speaker 2: the next year, that's it.
• 24:47
Speaker 1: Got some of the stories making automotive news headlines this week from the pages of automotive news NASCAR driver who crashed in a race last month and then threw his bumper cover at a rival's car as it sped by his pick, picked up a new sponsor, a company that makes aftermarket bumpers.
• 25:08
Speaker 1: That was very cool Video of Joey Gase throwing a piece of his wrecked Chevy Camaro SS at fellow driver Dawson Cram went viral after the Toyota Care 250 race in Richmond, virginia, racking up millions of views online.
• 25:21
Speaker 1: Maybe you've seen it.
• 25:22
Speaker 1: Days after NASCAR assessed Gase a $5,000 fine, he signed a deal to make bumpers that deliver the primary sponsor of his Ford Mustang Dark Horse.
• 25:33
Speaker 1: In August the company's logo already began appearing on the rear bumper of Gase's number 53 Mustang last week.
• 25:39
Speaker 1: Joey Gase's intense racing passion mirrors our dedication to delivering top-notch bumpers Bumpers that deliver which is based in Grand Rapids, michigan, said in a statement.

• 26:22
Speaker 1: Gase also partners with Donate to Life to promote organ donation.
• 26:28
Speaker 1: I think it was pretty funny.
• 26:29
  Speaker 1: Yeah, it was.
• 26:30
  Speaker 1: New.
• 26:30
Speaker 1: Vehicle inventory in the US continued to climb in March and reached its highest point in the latest estimate a 74-day supply.
• 26:37
Speaker 1: Remember there were dealerships that had no cars on their lots during the pandemic.
• 26:53
Speaker 1: Up slightly from the previous month, year earlier, is 1.9 million vehicles, a 35% year-over-year increase.
• 27:00
Speaker 1: Cox said inventory varied greatly based on sticker price.
• 27:04
Speaker 1: Vehicles that were $30,000 to $40,000 had the tightest supplies at 59 days, while the supply of vehicles priced under 20 stood at 66 days.
• 27:13
Speaker 1: Vehicles between 20 and 30 had 67 days.
• 27:16
Speaker 4: So if you're looking for a, new car.
• 27:18
Speaker 1: Now's the time to go look on the lot, because they got them full Yep.
• 27:21
Speaker 1: Now's the time to go.
• 27:21
Speaker 1: Look on the lot, because they got them full, yep.
• 27:23
Speaker 1: And speaking of that, ford Motor Company slashed prices of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck as much as 7.5%, as the automaker prepares to resume deliveries this month, following a halt earlier this year over an undisclosed quality issue.
• 27:39
Speaker 1: An undisclosed quality issue, not going to tell you Yep quality issue, an undisclosed quality issue.
• 27:49
Speaker 1: Not going to tell you.
• 27:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, price cuts put in place April 5th, partially reverse hikes in January, as Ford was reducing production of its signature electric vehicle by half and eliminating a shift of workers.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: The biggest reduction of $5,500 is on the Flash the extended range model now starting at $67,995,.
• 28:02
Speaker 1: The automaker said the only problem with that is good luck in trying to find a fast charger on the public grid anywhere in the city of Houston.
• 28:11
Speaker 1: Two and a half hours it took me to go to find, after three days of looking, a fast charger.
• 28:19
Speaker 1: And where did I find it?
• 28:20
Speaker 1: Passa Get Down Dena, behind a Chase Bank building on Spencer Highway.
