- 0:00Speaker 1: The Morning Show with Preston Scott ten minutes before the
- 0:08Speaker 1: top of the hour The Morning Show. Good to be
- 0:10Speaker 1: with you This Morning Show, fifty three fourteen. He's ose,
- 0:12Speaker 1: I am Preston and this is us Senator Rick Scott. Hey, Senator,
- 0:17Speaker 1: how are.
- 0:17Speaker 2: You, Hey, Preston, how are you today?
- 0:20Speaker 3: I'm doing terrific. I'm curious.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Give me your thoughts on the first almost months now
- 0:27Speaker 1: of a new administration.
- 0:29Speaker 3: What are things like? How are things different?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Well, I don't think you're bored with the news, are you?
- 0:35Speaker 2: So let's see nine. So let's go through it. Nine
- 0:39Speaker 2: American hostages released from Hamas Talabana. Maduro Exho has agreed
- 0:44Speaker 2: to send what ten thousand troops to border and just
- 0:47Speaker 2: agreed to send thousands of groups the border. Columbia is
- 0:50Speaker 2: now accepting flight Panama is in his Builton Roads initiative.
- 0:55Speaker 2: He took out a major ISIS leader in Somalia. We
- 0:59Speaker 2: have a president and supporting partnering with Israel. Women's sports
- 1:02Speaker 2: are protected the USA I D is starting to be
- 1:06Speaker 2: held accountable. So I mean it's pretty good. Three weeks
- 1:12Speaker 2: so I just said, you know, he's uh, he's got
- 1:15Speaker 2: I saw him Friday he's got a lot of energy.
- 1:17Speaker 2: He's not slowing down on think he sleeps, and Elon
- 1:21Speaker 2: Musk is busting his butt trying to find waste. So
- 1:24Speaker 2: I'm pretty excited.
- 1:25Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I talked earlier in the program about the democrats reaction
- 1:30Speaker 1: to all of the disclosures about USAID and how much
- 1:33Speaker 1: money has been wasted and what it's been wasted on.
- 1:36Speaker 1: We've been chronicling it, but Senator the Democrat reaction reminds
- 1:42Speaker 1: me of the reaction of addicts or alcoholics when they
- 1:46Speaker 1: can no longer gain their substance of use.
- 1:50Speaker 3: They're they're they're they're irrational.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Right, yeah, they may. It's it's like they're they're in grieving,
- 1:59Speaker 2: right they they're starting to realize they lost the election.
- 2:04Speaker 2: They're starting to realize that this government that they created
- 2:08Speaker 2: of no accountability, where they take care of crazy just craziness.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I mean, what do we what are we paying the
- 2:17Speaker 2: house paying for the housing of illegal emirates? Why in
- 2:22Speaker 2: luxury hotels in Europe? Do you look at this waste
- 2:25Speaker 2: of the USA? I d just like it's anti America.
- 2:29Speaker 2: It's just stupidity. And so they're just in grieving that
- 2:33Speaker 2: all this has been caught. I mean they show up
- 2:36Speaker 2: with the Department of Education. See how many people, how
- 2:39Speaker 2: many people they care about their kids? The education saying, boy,
- 2:42Speaker 2: I am so excited that the Federal Department of Education
- 2:46Speaker 2: is there because they are helping me so much. Or
- 2:49Speaker 2: the thing about the bigs and for boys, the Army
- 2:51Speaker 2: Corps of Engineers. Aren't we excited they're helping us well
- 2:54Speaker 2: with our beachery nourishment or I mean, let's name it,
- 2:57Speaker 2: name the pedal. The FBI aren't excited about their raid
- 3:01Speaker 2: that they won't explain to us at mar Lago. I mean,
- 3:04Speaker 2: you just go on. I mean, President I just had
- 3:06Speaker 2: a campaign and I would ask people, I said, how
- 3:09Speaker 2: many of you think that Chris Ray is going to
- 3:12Speaker 2: tell us everything that happened in Butler? Nobody? How about
- 3:16Speaker 2: Mari Orcist nobody? How about the director of the FBI
- 3:20Speaker 2: or of Secret Service? Nobody says yes, So we're now
- 3:24Speaker 2: starting to have some accountability. When people do the wrong thing,
- 3:27Speaker 2: they get fired. I mean that's what happened. Bes Sure,
- 3:29Speaker 2: you go on, If you went on the air and
- 3:32Speaker 2: you were a crazy person, you'd be off the air.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I mean that's the way it works. Accountability so this
- 3:40Speaker 2: is starting to happen. So it's we got we got
- 3:42Speaker 2: a lot left to do. We've got a lot of
- 3:44Speaker 2: work to do. We got we got to balance our budget.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I mean, on Friday when I was a Trump he
- 3:49Speaker 2: said he wanted to balance the budget. That's music to
- 3:51Speaker 2: my ears. I did Preston when I became governor of Florida,
- 3:55Speaker 2: Florida had not balanced his budget in twenty years. Twenty
- 3:59Speaker 2: years years, we're going into fault on our debt. So
- 4:03Speaker 2: now the federal government has thirty six trillion dollars of
- 4:05Speaker 2: a debt. And now finally we have a present that says,
- 4:08Speaker 2: you know, we could balance the budget. We could act
- 4:10Speaker 2: like what every American has to do is live within
- 4:12Speaker 2: their means. That's going to bring in place in that
- 4:15Speaker 2: in your freaks down, not this wasteful spending.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Do you feel as though part of that plan will
- 4:20Speaker 1: include paying down the debt.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Well, we got it's a step.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Sure.
- 4:25Speaker 2: What you have to do first is and we're gonna
- 4:27Speaker 2: we're gonna have a we're gonna have a budget meeting tomorrow.
- 4:30Speaker 2: The first thing you have to do is say we're
- 4:33Speaker 2: going to live within our means. Then you have to
- 4:36Speaker 2: grow your economy faster. Uh, And so that's what we
- 4:40Speaker 2: didn't for a first I balance the budget. Then I
- 4:42Speaker 2: started growing, getting the economy to grow. Then our revenue
- 4:45Speaker 2: grew so fast we were able to pay off debt.
- 4:47Speaker 2: So I think the first step is you got to
- 4:50Speaker 2: balance the budget. Now what I is there money to
- 4:53Speaker 2: be saved that you could actually start running a surplus right now? Sure?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Does Congress have the guts to do it?
- 5:00Speaker 1: No?
- 5:00Speaker 2: I mean it's it's work personally. Here's how bad it is.
- 5:04Speaker 2: In five years, we've had a two percent increase in
- 5:08Speaker 2: population and a fifty three percent increase in spending. Think
- 5:14Speaker 2: about this.
- 5:15Speaker 3: That's insane.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I mean it's insane. We're losing We're losing two trillion
- 5:19Speaker 2: dollars a year right now, two and it's just everywhere
- 5:24Speaker 2: in front of my office is packed. And for the
- 5:27Speaker 2: last two years, it's just been packed. You know why
- 5:30Speaker 2: people are coming up to saying, Hey, I hear there's
- 5:32Speaker 2: some free federal money. Can I have it for this? There?
- 5:35Speaker 2: Can I have it for that? Are going to have
- 5:36Speaker 2: it for that? I mean I thought it's like sometimes
- 5:39Speaker 2: you just think, why do we have local governments? So
- 5:41Speaker 2: why do we have state governments. If the federal government's
- 5:44Speaker 2: funding everything, I mean, why it doesn't make sense to me.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I've never understood why the federal government was involved in
- 5:52Speaker 2: every wants to be involved in every decision that happens
- 5:54Speaker 2: in your life.
- 5:55Speaker 1: It's because you're a practical well, you're a practical, pragmatic thinker,
- 5:59Speaker 1: and that that's that doesn't fit in Washington. Senator, we
- 6:04Speaker 1: have a hard news break coming. You're very generous to
- 6:07Speaker 1: come on the program today, and you're welcome back anytime.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Thank you, sir, Beat Preston, have a great day.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Bye bye.
