- 0:00As God intended.
- 0:02Let's go.
- 0:19Hey friends, welcome to the Looking for Healing Podcast.
- 0:23Today we are gonna talk about building a bulletproof immune system.
- 0:29This is a question I get asked about a lot.
- 0:32But before we do, I just want to again say thank you for listening.
- 0:37I'm your host on Fridays, but we have four other amazing hosts Monday through Thursday as well.

- 0:46And each each technically it's a radio show goes out live the day after it's recorded and it gets sent out to all the podcast platforms.
- 0:56So you can listen on Spotify or Apple or iHeartRadio or wherever you like to listen to your podcast.
- 1:03So be sure to tune in, check it out, and share with your friends.
- 1:08So let's jump into the content for today.
- 1:14So this is kind of obviously these are recorded, so you might be listening to this in a less than timely uh part of the year.
- 1:25But we're doing this recording is happening at the beginning or middle of November.
- 1:30And if you're especially if you're in the US, this is considered quote unquote flu season.
- 1:38Um, but is it really?
- 1:40So it's considered flu season because more people get sick from October to January than any other time of the year in terms of flues and colds and these kinds of things.
- 1:51But if you think about this and kind of lay it against our good old healthy United States calendar, it actually aligns with sugar season.
- 2:03What do I mean by sugar season?
- 2:05Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
- 2:09So sugar season, even if you don't have little kids that are trick-or-treating, these little fun size, fun size, right?
- 2:17That's marketing, um, as if they're like less toxic because they're small.
- 2:21What do you do?
- 2:22You eat six of them instead of one.
- 2:23So it's pretty much the same as a regular size candy bar.
- 2:27But I digress.
- 2:28Even if you don't have little kids that you're taking trick-or-treating, so often these little snack size buckets and boxes and bags of candy creep into our break rooms and our um clubs and organizations and churches and uh family gatherings, and um end up increasing our sugar intake, even if we're not formally celebrating.
- 2:52Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's.
- 2:55Here's the thing: if Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's were just one day, it would it really wouldn't be a thing, would not be a huge problem for most.
- 3:03If you eat junk food all the time, that you know, what is that gonna like put you over the edge?
- 3:10Less likely.
- 3:11The problem is we celebrate Halloween, you know, five days before to five days after.
- 3:17Thanksgiving, oftentimes you have, you know, husband's side, wife's side, or mom's side and dad's side.
- 3:23Um, Christmas, a lot of times we have work parties, and then, you know, mom's side, stepmom's side, dad's, you know, you got all these different gatherings.
- 3:33Um, and then New Year's, which is known for um lots of wild parties, not always the best way to start off the new year, actually.
- 3:45So when you think about the flu season, consider is it really a flu season, or is this a result of a weakened immune system because the sugar intake is so high.
- 3:58So let's get on the same page with just a couple quick presuppositions when it comes to, you know, just talking through the immune system.
- 4:06So, number one, illness, and I don't care if we're talking about a common cold or cancer, is not random.
- 4:14It's either invited or resisted.
- 4:17Now, we're gonna talk more about this in a moment.
- 4:19But then the second thing is illness is not random, okay?
- 4:23And the second thing is you can avoid or reduce most, if not all illness and disease.
- 4:29Um, so with that in mind, let's think about if you absolutely hated your immune system and you wanted it to die so you can get sick all the time and miss work or school and have more catching up to do and have more distress because of it.
- 4:45Here would be what I would recommend.
- 4:47Of course, I'm being facetious, I don't recommend you do these things, but this is what the immune system hates.
- 4:53It hates lots of sugar.
- 4:55Now, I want to be really clear.
- 4:57This is a whole nother episode, so I'm not gonna spend a lot of time on sugar, but when we think of sugar in all in our culture, so often we think of just sweets, you know, the cakes, cookies, donuts, ice cream.
- 5:12But this is also gonna include alcohol, bread, pretzels, most of your cereals, even if they're not sweetened because white flour basically turns into a sugar-like substance.
- 5:24It's pretty much any refined carbohydrates.
- 5:28So we're not talking about an apple that's not refined, that's natural sugar.
- 5:33Um, not that you can have unlimited amounts of natural sugars, um, contrary to what some believe, but really that's a non-issue as compared to the refined carbohydrates.
- 5:45So your immune system hates sugar.
- 5:47Number two, your immune system like stress, it stay as stressed as possible if you want to annihilate the immune system.
- 5:56Your body is fighting for you.
- 5:59And if it's fighting, you're see, remember your stress response, that fight or flight, is meant to peak for a few minutes, you fight the bad guy, or you run from the bad guy, or you get killed by the bad guy.
- 6:11But there's in nature, you'll never see prolonged stress.
- 6:16You'll never see a deer or uh bear or any animal in nature that's stressed for weeks and months and years, right?
- 6:27It's peaks for a few minutes, they do the thing, and then they're like taking a nap, grazing in the grass, you know, chilled out.
- 6:35And third, um, if you hate your immune system, I would highly recommend staying up late, eating big meals before bed, aka, don't sleep much, don't sleep well.
- 6:46Um, that should take care of it if you really want to be sick more often.
- 6:51Um, teasing a little bit, nobody wants to be sick more often, but these are the things we do, you know, that we we get sick and we're like, uh, how did this happen?
- 7:01I've been doing so good with my diet.
- 7:04And yeah, I mean, that's part of it, but that's that's one of the three, that's one leg of the three-legged stool, right?
- 7:11So first I want to just say, because one of the things when the immune system got spotlighted a few years ago with COVID, right?
- 7:21So when you think about so again, when we talk about the immune system, we're talking about anything that impacts the immune system, but I'm gonna I'm gonna touch on COVID a little bit throughout this because um people lost their minds when they and I'm when I say people, I'm not just talking about society.
- 7:39I'm talking like medical doctors and researchers and scientists.
- 7:45It was like all of a sudden everything they had learned about the immune system was wrong.
- 7:50Like, um, yeah, that's just not how it works.
- 7:53Your immune system is your internal army.
- 7:57Its job is to discern what is you versus not you, what's safe versus what is harmful for you or to you.
- 8:06When it detects something is harmful or not you or some kind of a threat.
- 8:12Um, and by the way, we most often think of like um bacteria, virus, parasites, and that is all for sure, you know, true and a factor, but this could even be a food.
- 8:26If you're sensitive to a certain food, uh we've talked about this in other episodes.
- 8:30Certain food sensitive sensitivities will invoke an immune response.
- 8:36So when it detects something is harmful, it's game on, right?
- 8:40The immune system's gonna rise up.
- 8:42Sometimes you're gonna get vomiting, diarrhea, skin reactions, headaches, fever, but more often, the most common is this response is like this immune response is kind of going on in the background without us even being aware of it.
- 8:59Um now that's a really good thing.
- 9:02That's really great news.
- 9:04Um, you are fearfully and wonderfully made, so you don't have to necessarily feel sick every time you your body's you know wiping out some minor pathogen.
- 9:16So that's really great.
- 9:18Um the downside is when there's lots of stress on the system, and this stress could be in the form of too much sugar, it could actually literally be too much exercise.
- 9:29I've done this before where I've like driven myself into the ground to where I felt sick.
- 9:35Um, not smart, not a good idea, right?
- 9:38We need balance.
- 9:40So it's a problem if you exercise not enough, and it's a problem if you exercise too much.
- 9:44It's a strain on the body.
- 9:46Anything that strains the body, it's gonna like take from the immune energy, right?
- 9:52So let me ask you this.
- 9:56If your family were in danger and you had to hire a group.
- 10:00Of warriors to stand outside your home or their home to protect them.
- 10:06What would you expect of them?
- 10:07How would you want them to train?
- 10:09How would you want them to think?
- 10:10How would you want them to eat?
- 10:12Would you be okay if they stayed up late watching TV?
- 10:16Would you be comforted, comforted if they pulled up for their shift and there's beer cans and pizza boxes falling out of the car?
- 10:25Um, or would you love to know that they uh cheated on their detective exams or their, I don't know, shooting exams, their physical exams.
- 10:37Of course not, right?
- 10:38You would expect the best, you would want the best.
- 10:40You would expect the best training, the best diet.
- 10:43You, if you were gonna hire someone to protect somebody you loved, your precious family, nothing but the best would suffice for that job.
- 10:52So you are this treasure.
- 10:56Right?
- 10:57You are this treasure.
- 10:58So if there's one good thing that I would say came from the craziness that it that was COVID, perhaps it was the fact that people started realizing, hey, what we're doing, it's not working, right?
- 11:12It's not working.
- 11:13And I'm kind of a big fan of the trust in God, but tie up your camels, you know.
- 11:19Trust in God.
- 11:20Obviously, I believe in God's sovereignty, but also there is a little bit of God helps those who help themselves.
- 11:27Now, if that makes you cringe, I'm sorry.
- 11:29But if you're like, I want God to make me healthy, but I'm not gonna eat vegetables, drink water, or manage stress, come on.
- 11:36Like, that's that's really not about God at that point.
- 11:41Um we have to take responsibility for what's happening in our own system.
- 11:48And I use the example, of course, a little facetious, but I use the example about bringing someone in to protect your family.
- 11:57Because too often we would do things for other people we might not necessarily do for ourselves.
- 12:03Anybody else guilty on that?
- 12:06So if you wouldn't let your children stay up late and you know, party all night.
- 12:13I'm not talking about on their birthday or some special occasion, but if you if you wouldn't, as a rule, you look out for their health, right?
- 12:20So you want them to be able to like function and think clearly at school and behave well and do well in their extracurricular stuff.
- 12:30And so what do you do?
- 12:32You make sure they go to bed on time, you make sure they're hydrated, you give them a good breakfast before they leave.
- 12:37So this is this is the seriousness which with which we want to take um kind of supporting and building the immune system on the front end.
- 12:50So I'm never gonna say it's too late.
- 12:52So if you're in the middle, if you're listening to this right now and you just got diagnosed with some devastating disease, um, and I don't care if it's PMS, migraine headaches, uh, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, whatever they call it, it's not too late.
- 13:11I've seen the ship turn time and time again.
- 13:14This is what I do, this is why I do what I do.
- 13:18I love it when the medical doctors say there's nothing we can do, and then lo and behold, um, the the great creation of the human body says, uh, wait a minute, we're not done here.
- 13:30Um, I've seen it many times.
- 13:32So it's never too late.
- 13:34However, it is much easier on the front end to be looking out for yourself on the front end, to not wait for the scary diagnosis.
- 13:44So that being said, I mentioned earlier that disease or illness is not random.
- 13:51It is either I it I I said it's either invited or it's resisted.
- 13:57So this is the idea of the germ versus the terrain theory.
- 14:02The germ theory is the idea that illness comes from some bug or pathogen or germ.
- 14:08The goal, if you believe this, would be to avoid contact with all germs or anyone who has them, which is not only not possible, but it also wouldn't create a very enjoyable life.
- 14:21You basically couldn't be with anybody because a lot of times people are sick in some small way and you don't even know it.
- 14:29You'd have to live in a bubble at the extreme.
- 14:32Um, no thanks.
- 14:34Um, not to mention if this were true or accurate, then everyone who came in contact with a given pathogen would get sick, not just some.
- 14:43And we see that, like when you send your little kid to can't, you know, kindergarten and half the class gets sick.
- 14:50Yeah, half the class gets sick.
- 14:52Not everybody, right?
- 14:53Why is that?
- 14:54Well, some people have a stronger immune system than others.
- 14:58Why is that?
- 14:59Has a lot to do with their diet, the environment they live in.
- 15:03Um, if you or a loved one is getting sick all the time, we don't need to stress about this, but we can take some prudent precautions and look at the big picture, like what's happening here?
- 15:16Um the germ theory really falls short on several levels because for one, what we just talked about, the you couldn't come in contact with any disease.
- 15:30Well, let's be honest.
- 15:32If you touch door handles, and I know some people are like, I use my sleeve to go into the bathroom, and like every single time, everywhere you go, even in your own house, unless you live alone and sterilize it daily, like I'm not saying it would be impossible to do that, but it'd be pretty difficult.
- 15:49Do you ever pump gas?
- 15:51Do you ever, I mean, all the gross things we do?
- 15:55Like, do you ever find money and pick it up?
- 15:57I mean, if you pick up the quarter or the dollar that you find on in the parking lot, like you can't avoid germs and they're on everything.
- 16:07The problem isn't that there's germs, the problem is our terrain.
- 16:13So before we get into something I love to talk about is the terrain theory, the opposite of the germ theory.
- 16:19We're gonna take just a couple minutes and hear at looking for healing.
- 16:22We have several sponsors that make this show possible.
- 16:25And so we're gonna take a minute and hear from one of our sponsors.
- 16:28We'll be right back in just a couple minutes and talk more about the terrain theory.

- 19:52Welcome back to Looking for Healing.
- 19:55I am your podcast host for today, Dr.
- 19:58Leanne Fritz.
- 20:00And today we're talking about building a bulletproof immune system.
- 20:03So we talked about the germ theory and how it falls short.
- 20:07Now I'd like to talk about the terrain theory, which recognizes that we either welcome or resist disease of any kind by the terrain or environment of our body.
- 20:19A well-cared for body practicing natural, natural principles, um, will resist pathogens way more effectively and efficiently than a sick, tired, worn-out body.
- 20:34So when you think about your immune system in the terrain of your immune system, sort of the microbiome or the environment of not just your gut, but your entire system.
- 20:45How are you training your troops, right?
- 20:48Are you giving them adequate rest, or are you stressing them all the time, right?
- 20:55A strong immune system is ready and able to fight and it's good at it.
- 21:00That's what it was created for.
- 21:02So these are the people that either don't get sick, you know, they hardly ever get sick, or when they do, everybody else is sick for you know, four weeks and they're like, oh yeah, I felt awful for 24 hours and then I was fine, right?
- 21:15That's the that's a good sign.
- 21:17Um, you know, getting sick less, of course, is great.
- 21:21But if you do get sick, it's a really good sign when it hits your heart and leaves like right away, or it responds really quickly when you take some antiviral or antifungal or antibacterial supplements, things like that.
- 21:36Um, another great way to illustrate this.
- 21:38I've had this so many times where I'm at some outdoor event, and these little obnoxious mosquitoes are buzzing around and driving everybody crazy, and they're like just ignoring me, right?
- 21:52What's happening there?
- 21:53They don't like me.
- 21:55Mosquitoes are parasites, and they're looking for an easy uh an easy and a free ride, right?
- 22:02They want to suck the blood of someone that's full of sugar, foreign protein, and just has an out-of-balance pH.
- 22:09My blood is gross to them.
- 22:11You want to make your blood really gross to them, right?
- 22:14You want to make it an environment that they can't thrive because there's not a lot of garbage in there for them to eat.
- 22:22Okay, so you know, I predicted this early on with COVID, and it was indeed proven true.
- 22:30And please, this is I'm definitely speaking in general.
- 22:33I'm not saying there weren't some anomalies to this, but generally speaking, who got sick during COVID?
- 22:40Well, the answer to this question, it was typically the people who are gonna get sick were the people who were had had a lifestyle that welcomed illness.
- 22:51So these were people that were quickest to get anything going.
- 22:55They're they're the ones that are quickest to get anything going around, whether it's flu, colds, strep.
- 23:01Um, these are people with a poor diet, people who don't sleep enough, people who don't exercise or exercise too much, people who maintain high stress lifestyles and generally are out of hell out of, you know, out of balance and unhealthy.
- 23:15Um, I just describe a good share of our population.
- 23:20I do get that.
- 23:21People who are overweight, that's a comorbidity for almost all disease.
- 23:25Um, people who are on lots and lots of medications.
- 23:29Um, you know, of course, there are a few exceptions, but for the most part, um, these are things that we pretty much most of us have almost full control over.
- 23:42So let's jump into some sort of prudent precautions for creating a bulletproof immune system.
- 23:50There's a couple here, this first one especially, like I almost don't want to even say I it's almost insulting, but I'm gonna talk about it because most people still don't do it.
- 24:04But wash your hands.
- 24:07Yes, you should be doing this anyway.
- 24:09This, like, this is like really is this part, but I I couldn't leave it out because we know we should be doing this anyway, but still many people don't.
- 24:17Um, wash your hands regularly, especially after you use the bathroom.
- 24:22If you are, you know, at a public event, let's say you're at a fair or um, you know, anything where you're like around lots of people.
- 24:34Um, this is not about being germophobic.
- 24:41That's definitely not my game.
- 24:43But there are a lot of pathogens that can simply be transferred from one person to another through the door handle, through the gas pump, through um, you know, the cart at the grocery store.
- 24:58It's just a good habit to do and to teach your children to do.
- 25:02So you don't have to be paranoid about it.
- 25:04But before you eat a meal, after you use the restroom, when you're in public places, um things like that, really important.
- 25:12So we won't belabor that point.
- 25:14But if that's something that you have made not a habit, um, that's something you'll want to put in.
- 25:20Um, and you know, there's no shame there.
- 25:23You start where you're at.
- 25:24And so often we skip things like that because the same reason we skip anything else, exercise, you know, taking time to make food instead, we just grab something quick.
- 25:34It's like we're busy.
- 25:36But use it as your time to take a couple deep breaths to relax your jaw, your shoulder, like reduce stress.
- 25:47That can be like sort of a uh 20-second meditation for you 10 times a day or however often you need to do that.
- 25:56Um, sleep, number two, sleep.
- 26:00Sleep is probably if I had to pick one thing that I would say is most supportive of the immune system, it's really hard to pick, but this would definitely be in the top one or two.
- 26:14Um, one of the most powerful things you can do for your immune system is to get regular good quality sleep.
- 26:20Your body does its best healing, restoring, repairing from about 6 a.m.
- 26:26to 10, excuse me, from about 10 p.m.
- 26:28to 6 a.m.
- 26:30So you want to be sleeping during these hours as much and as often as possible.
- 26:35Um, if you have a life where you're like, I have to get up early, or like for me, I just do get up early, I wake up earlier than that, it's okay.
- 26:43You don't have to stress about that, but just compensate for it.
- 26:45If you have to wake up earlier, then go to bed a little earlier.
- 26:48And um, if you're, you know, we've talked about this before, but if you're somebody who you go to bed on time and you just can't fall asleep, for sure, reach out.
- 26:57You definitely want to get help with that.
- 26:59That's not normal.
- 27:00That's a symptom, something's wrong.
- 27:02Um, no need to panic, but definitely reason to get going at, you know, kind of get busy about finding out what's going on.
- 27:11Um, if you're somebody who just has lots to do and you just can't turn it off at night.
- 27:18This is one of the things that I've found.
- 27:19I have several clients that I have doing this is set, like, let's say you want to be in bed by 10 p.m.
- 27:26at whatever you, whatever time you need, however much lead time you need, set your alarm to go off at night, like if you want to be in bed at 10, set it to go off at 9 or 8.30, maybe 8:30 is your reminder to wind it down, finish up what you're doing, and then maybe at nine you start kind of a bedtime routine.
- 27:47So maybe you take a hot bath or shower, maybe you do some journaling, maybe you shut off the electronics.
- 27:55Um, maybe it's a little meditation, you know, some deep breathing, something like that to just kind of settle things down.
- 28:02So when you do lay down, you can drift off quickly.
- 28:07Staying hydrated, this is huge.
- 28:10You need to drink at least half your weight in ounces of pure clean water daily, starting first thing in the morning when you wake up.
- 28:18Half your weight in ounces is kind of the agreed upon by most uh health officials, I guess I would say.
- 28:27Um, I tend to not quite align with that.
- 28:30I think most people need more.
- 28:32Um, but it does depend a great deal on how you live.
- 28:36So if you eat a lot of whole fresh, raw fruits and vegetables, they're all loaded with water.
- 28:42So you might be able to get away with a little bit less.
- 28:44Um, but typically water is really important to life because it's an easy and gentle way to cleanse toxins from your body.
- 28:52More toxins means more stress and more stress means it's taking, it's depleting energy away from the immune system, using it to always, it's like almost like it's always stressed.
- 29:03It would be like if you had to work 24 hours a day, it's like, man, by by hour 12, by hour 15, by hour 18, how effective are you, right?
- 29:13You're tired.
- 29:14You're not gonna do your best work at those times.
- 29:19Daily exercise and breathing exercises as well to build up your lung capacity.
- 29:25This was especially true in COVID, or if you're dealing with any kind of respiratory situation.
- 29:31Um, but exercise is really important, and I have mentioned this a couple times in the last few podcasts.
- 29:37Um you you can exercise too much.
- 29:40It's not the route that most people need to worry about, but it it can, it's possible.
- 29:46I've done it.
- 29:47I'm definitely one of these.
- 29:48I like to exercise and I feel good when I exercise.
- 29:51And so sometimes I kind of have to learn the hard way that I overdid it.
- 29:56And that's when you have to like, okay, time to reel it back, maybe take it.
- 30:00Day or two off, um, or three.
- 30:02That's like really hard for some people, um, including me.
- 30:07Um, but really making sure that you're balanced in your exercise.
- 30:12And then number five, when it comes to just bulletproof immune system um tasks here.
- 30:19Consume a mostly organic whole food plant diet.
- 30:23Specifically include more lemons and lime water, um, fresh garlic and onions are great.
- 30:30There's caprylic acid in organic coconut oil.
- 30:35Um, you know, there's things like fresh ginger, um, oranges, consuming a bit of the orange peel.
- 30:42That's super easy to do, by the way, if you put a little bit of it in your smoothie.
- 30:46Um, and when you're using things like orange peel or lemon peel, I would definitely make sure you get organic.
- 30:52Um, but those are super easy to add to your green smoothies.
- 30:56Um, beans can be really helpful, like black pinto, kidney beans, chickpeas, whatever you like.
- 31:01Um, these are all like generally speaking, a healthy whole food diet, but these are a few foods that can be really good at supporting the immune response.
- 31:11Um, medicinal mushrooms can be really good too.
- 31:15So we're talking about like cordyceps, shiitake, um, some of these.
- 31:21And these are all the this is the cool thing.
- 31:24Most of you, most of these things, you might be listening to this and going, okay, aren't these just like general health practices?
- 31:31Yeah, exactly.
- 31:32Right?
- 31:33Exactly.
- 31:34We're trying to, the idea here is to build a bulletproof immune system.
- 31:40It's it's not, yes, if you're in the deep water already, not too late.
- 31:45We can still work with that.
- 31:46But let's do these.
- 31:47Look at these, look how simple these are.
- 31:49I mean, these five things, wash your hands.
- 31:52That's 20% of it.
- 31:53Sleep.
- 31:54Most of us love that.
- 31:55If we can just make ourselves do it.
- 31:57Drink water, super easy.
- 31:59Exercise, breathing exercises, and then a whole food healthy diet.
- 32:04Now, I'm not saying these are all easy, but they're simple.
- 32:08And if you do these things, I guarantee you're gonna have dramatically less illness, if any at all.
- 32:17Now, um, those are some things to do.
- 32:22There's a few things to stop doing to support what we're trying to do in building a bulletproof immune system.
- 32:32So, um, as you may be guessing is coming.
- 32:37Stop stressing.
- 32:39Stress is so depleting.
- 32:42It literally depletes many micronutrients.
- 32:45Stress is gonna deplete your magnesium, your vitamin C, your B5, your B6, um, serine, uh, B3, um, and things like selenium and B6 and some of those nutrients also um create serotonin.
- 33:04Serotonin makes you feel good.
- 33:06So you can see like the interconnectedness of all this and how you know having a stressful day, you think it's no big deal.
- 33:15And in fairness, probably not a huge deal on occasion, but a stressful lifestyle, major issue, right?
- 33:23So laugh, journal, go for a walk, pray, breathe, rest.
- 33:28Over 80% of our worries, they say never actually occur.
- 33:31It's gonna be okay.
- 33:32Do your best and forget the rest.
- 33:34Okay.
- 33:35So that's one thing to stop.
- 33:36Stop listening to the news.
- 33:39Now, this is especially true during like COVID times.
- 33:44This was the homework I gave to countless clients that were coming in after sp, you know, some of these clients I had been with for years, and they were overall pretty balanced and healthy, and all of a sudden they've got all kinds of depression, anxiety, um, trouble sleeping.
- 34:00And I start asking.
- 34:03I just kind of start polling people.
- 34:05Like, how how often, like, do you watch the news every day?
- 34:08Yeah, oh yeah, I've been watching it two, three times.
- 34:11Like, you know, they're they're like giving death tolls and stuff.
- 34:14Most of them aren't even accurate.
- 34:16Um, so much of what we're what was reported three days later, three weeks later, three months later, they're like, oh, we had it wrong.
- 34:24It really wasn't this.
- 34:26And so I'm not trying to get into you know the political side of this, although I'm willing to.
- 34:32It's just not the purpose of this particular podcast.
- 34:37But talking constantly about how bad it is and what's being canceled and what happens if you get the flu and the um, you know, number of people dying in nursing homes because they didn't get their flu shot, or like this is not helpful.
- 34:54This is not prudent, helpful activity.
- 34:57It's anxiety causing, and you have to be very grounded to do this to listen to the news.
- 35:04Um, however, the iron the irony is if you're super grounded, you probably don't want to listen to the news.
- 35:11So stop listening to the news, stop stressing.
- 35:15Number three, eliminate or avoid alcohol, caffeine, animal products, and processed foods.
- 35:21Now, if you're on a standard American diet and you think I just basically asked you to cut off your arm, stay with me.
- 35:29We can still be friends.
- 35:30You don't have to do this all overnight.
- 35:32But the idea here is just turn to things that are gonna support your health and healing rather than things that are gonna degrade it slow and steadily.
- 35:42And then number four, stop doing anything that hinders your sleep.
- 35:48So I don't care if we're talking about electronics late at night, late night meetings, late night eating, anything that hinders your sleep, no go, right?
- 35:59We protect in my clinic, sleep is protected at all costs, right?
- 36:03If somebody tells me like they they were trying to get their water in and they didn't do it, and so at the end of the night, they just slugged 32 ounces.
- 36:11I'm like, oh no, no, no, no.
- 36:12Start again the next day.
- 36:14Take a drink if you're thirsty, but start again the next day.
- 36:17Sleep is king or queen.
- 36:20All right.
- 36:21That said, we're gonna take a little break and hear from one of our sponsors.
- 36:24We'll be right back in just a few minutes.
- 36:26We wouldn't go a day without washing our hands, brushing our teeth, and washing our nose.
- 36:31Well, wait, we wash our nose.
- 36:33Yes.
- 36:34The number one place where bacteria, viruses, and pollen enter the body is through the nose.
- 36:39So the average person breathes over 23,000 times a day.
- 36:42That's 23,000 opportunities for bacteria, viruses, and irritants to get into your nose and make you sick.
- 36:49For an extra layer of protection, wash your nose with clear.
- 36:53That is clear, X-L-E-A-R.
- 36:56Clear's drug-free nasal spray features xylitol, an ingredient proven to block adhesion of many nasty bacteria and viruses, and effectively clean, not just rinse like a saline, but wash your nose.
- 37:08Clear nasal spray quickly alleviates congestion, opens your airway, and ensures your body's natural defenses are strong.

- 38:41Every day it becomes more apparent that American education has been under assault for decades.
- 38:47Because everything in culture is downstream of education.
- 38:51Globalists and Marxists have spent a lifetime commandeering it to their advantage.
- 38:56The racist propaganda and gender ideology.
- 38:59But there's hope.

- 39:22Let us do our part to save America together.
- 39:25Let's unite to renovate the awel back to looking for your looking for healing.
- 39:35I'm your host, Dr.
- 39:36Leanne Fritz.
- 39:36We're going to continue our conversation on building a bulletproof immune system.
- 39:41We've talked about what to do, some basics, what not to do.
- 39:45Now, in this last segment, we're going to get into supplements.
- 39:50And oh, supplements.
- 39:52Supplements are so sexy.
- 39:54Everybody loves them.
- 39:55Everybody wants them.
- 39:57We all want them to be magical.
- 40:00But I want to make really clear.
- 40:02I can't even talk about supplements without this long disclaimer.
- 40:05So I'm going to try to keep it short.
- 40:07But the bottom line is this supplements are just that.
- 40:11They are a supplement.
- 40:13That means they complement something.
- 40:15They don't make it up.
- 40:16So they are a supplement to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
- 40:21In practicing naturopathic medicine, I always remind people, I I care.
- 40:26I mean, I use supplements.
- 40:28I recommend them, but there is not a supplement I could recommend that will take the place of good hydration, of proper breathing, of good sleep habits, of exercise, you know, of course, of a good diet.
- 40:44If you're looking for a magic magic bullet that you can just take and not make any changes, I'll just save you the time and tell you there isn't one.
- 40:53And if somebody tells you otherwise, I would run for the hills.
- 40:59Assuming you're eating a whole mostly organic whole food plant-based diet, I've laid out some recommendations, but you know, for my clients, if assuming your lifestyle is good.
- 41:11Now, this is not to say if you if your lifestyle isn't perfect, you can't take supplements.
- 41:16If stress is high, there's certain supplements I would take.
- 41:19If you're exercising a lot, if you're training hard, maybe you're an athlete, or maybe you're just like me, you just like to train really hard.
- 41:27Um, yeah, there's certain supplements you should take.
- 41:30But that again, it's still complementing the lifestyle.
- 41:34It's not like, oh, I don't want to exercise, so I'm gonna take these fat burners.
- 41:38Doesn't work that way.
- 41:40At least not with a price that I don't think you want to pay.
- 41:44So for my clients, we're able to test and see exactly what they need.
- 41:49But generally speaking, I'm gonna give some sort of a good place to start.
- 41:53So if you're interested in knowing specifically what I use, you can go to my website at newhopehealth.com.
- 42:00Um, this is the website for my clinic, and you can go to the store and just poke around, see what we have.
- 42:07Um, but really these recommendations will vary from person to person.
- 42:13And if I could test you, I would test you, and then you'd know exactly.
- 42:18But in general, um, based on your lifestyle, your body size, your age, et cetera, that's how we kind of do the dosaging for supplements.
- 42:27Um, but for the sake of time here, I'm not gonna go into great detail about each one, but I want to mention a few supplements that will be helpful.
- 42:36Um, and for the most part, this first few that I'm gonna talk about are um mostly safe for most people.
- 42:49I'm always gonna give the disclaimer of talk to your healthcare provider, whoever that might be.
- 42:56So prophylactically, in other words, from a preventative standpoint, there's a handful of supplements I'm gonna recommend, generally speaking, all the time.
- 43:07So this is gonna be things like vitamin D plus vitamin K.
- 43:10They're usually together.
- 43:12It's usually uh, I think it's about 5,000 IU of vitamin D with somewhere around 180 um milligrams of vitamin K.
- 43:24Um, I've tested so many people.
- 43:27We've done intracellular micronutrient testing.
- 43:30This is not the same as what you get from conventional labs.
- 43:34I mean, I would say 80% of the adults I test, even many of them who are taking vitamin D are low in vitamin D.
- 43:43So that would be one thing I would recommend.
- 43:46Now, what is vitamin D have to do with the immune system?
- 43:49Well, in this case, vitamin D specifically is actually very supportive of the immune system.
- 43:54Vitamin D is um, vitamin D kind of got famous for um during COVID because it was found in some clinical trials to uh reduce your likelihood of getting COVID, and then if you got it, it was found to uh reduce the number of days you were actually ill.
- 44:14Um, but vitamin D is gonna be really important for all the mucous membranes in the body.
- 44:20So that's gonna include the gut support that so many of us need.
- 44:24Um HCl stands for hydroclakic hydrochloric acid.
- 44:29Um at first thought, you're this is stomach acid, right?
- 44:33Batane hydrochloride.
- 44:35At first thought, you're gonna go, wait a minute, why are we talking about digestion?
- 44:39But HCL, see the pH of your stomach is very acidic.
- 44:42It's like at the pH level, it's like I think it's two.
- 44:46Um, so when you swallow a pathogen, and this could be something like you're eating a healthy salad, maybe, but it didn't get washed perfectly, and there's some nanobacteria or some little microscopic bug or something.
- 45:01You can't see it, of course.
- 45:03Um, but if you have adequate HCL, which many people over the age of about 20 do not, but if you have adequate HCL, it will not make it past the stomach.
- 45:14It'll go into the stomach and it'll pretty much be neutralized there.
- 45:19So, yes, it is helpful for digestion, but also really important for immunity as kind of a first level of defense.
- 45:31Um iodine, we use a product called xenostat, but iodine is really important.
- 45:37Um, it's actually a really good antiviral.
- 45:41Um, and iodine is supportive of the thyroid, and then also in women, the breasts and the uterus.
- 45:47Um the thyroid gets on is is under attack, especially by radiation of any kind.
- 45:55Um, vitamin C, we know many people have known for a long time when you're coming down with something, take some vitamin C.
- 46:03Um, that can be really helpful.
- 46:04Vitamin C has like a couple hundred rolls in the body, just that we know of.
- 46:09Um, I have a fermented mushroom product that I love.
- 46:12This is a powder, really good for supporting the immune system.
- 46:16I mentioned before the medicinal mushrooms are really good for this, and this is a combination, it's like cordyceps, lion's mane, uh raishi, um, which is also good for the liver.
- 46:28Um, and then one of my favorites, um, silver.
- 46:34So colloidal silver um has been found to be really good at um helping with bacterial issues.
- 46:43I like it because it's an almost tasteless, it's it looks like water, it's clear.
- 46:48Um, you can buy this just about anywhere.
- 46:51You can look at it on my website, but um it's really good because it's easy to get into kids.
- 46:57You can put it in water, juice, or anything.
- 47:00Kids will take it pretty well.
- 47:02Um, I will say, and this maybe is uh content for a whole nother show, but I've used silver on cuts and scrapes.
- 47:10I've dropped it into my nose.
- 47:13If I was having like sinus kind of issues, which I haven't had for a long time, but I used to get like sinus infections many years ago.
- 47:23I I've dropped it into my eyes.
- 47:26I have dropped it into ears.
- 47:30Um, it's just like really powerful antibacterial.
- 47:35Um, some other things that are really helpful.
- 47:39Um, digestive enzymes can be helpful.
- 47:43Now, again, you might think, what why are we talking about digestion?
- 47:45I thought we were talking about the immune system.
- 47:46Well, if you can't break down and assimilate the food, the nutrients from the food you eat, your your um your immune system needs certain nutrients to be healthy and robust.
- 47:58And so it's kind of an indirect thing, but again, sort of prophylactically, if you're regularly eating good food, but your digestion isn't good, so you can't break it down and assimilate it, it's gonna be hard to get the, it's gonna be difficult to get the nutrition from that food.
- 48:15Um, so I recommend taking some digestive enzyme with most meals.
- 48:19Now, again, these are super in general.
- 48:22Um good quality greens powder.
- 48:26There's not a lot of good quality greens powders, there's lots of greens powders.
- 48:30Um, but I do recommend that again, same thing.
- 48:33It's just flooding your body with lots of nutrition.
- 48:37Um, DHA, DHA stands for docasa hexanoic acid, which is a big word for omega-3s.
- 48:44The ones that we use are from um, it's actually from algae rather than fish.
- 48:50So it's a much cleaner source.
- 48:51You don't have to worry about the contamination of the toxins and the fish and the mercury and um, you know, the motor boy boat oil and all that good stuff that you get from the fish oils.
- 49:02Um, so those are some like basics.
- 49:06Um, then in terms of things that I would always have on hand for um like if I were to get sick, these are the things I have in my own cabinet.
- 49:19Silver, I mentioned vitamin C, I mentioned.
- 49:22Vitamin C, by the way, um I've taken up to 10,000 milligrams a day, which is 10 grams, um, and even more if you're not feeling well.
- 49:33Um, the key with vitamin C is to to bowel tolerance.
- 49:37So I would creep it up slowly.
- 49:39If you're not feeling well, take a little bit, take a little more, go up very slowly.
- 49:44If you get to the where you have loose stool, back down to where you just were before that happened.
- 49:50So if you're like at 5,000, I was good at 6,000, it got loose, then go back down to 5,000.
- 49:56Um, and it kind of depends on what's going on, you know.
- 50:00If if your issue is a minor cold, you might be able to do that just for a week or so and then be done.
- 50:05If you're using it because I at one point had some dental work done and I was like, you know, when you when you are healing, that takes more vitamin C.
- 50:15So using it that way, I I think I took it for six months or so.
- 50:21Umcleotides, we have a brilliant product called nucleoimmune.
- 50:27Um, again, if you're interested, um, go to new helphealth.com, you can read more about this.
- 50:32But nucleotides help your body um heal and repair cells.
- 50:37So this is great, both if you're sick or if you're like um post surgery or broken bone, after you have stitches, anything like that for healing.
- 50:46Um, hyssop, we have a product called Hysinol, and the main ingredient is hyssop, which is a great antiviral.
- 50:54Um, there's a product called immuniven.
- 50:57One of my very favorites is allicidin.
- 51:00Alicin is the active ingredient in garlic.
- 51:03And you may know that garlic is good for blood pressure.
- 51:09Garlic is also good for the immune system.
- 51:13And garlic is actually referred to as Russian penicillin.
- 51:17So there are some countries where they treat people who have like bacterial issues or whatever with garlic.
- 51:25Garlic is actually really good for any kind of like yeast or candida as well.
- 51:30Of course, you can eat it, um, like just eat cloves of garlic, but garlic um, garlic is um in order for it to be most potent, you want to crush it and let it sit in the air, like just open for at least a few minutes.
- 51:47That that kind of like activates it.
- 51:49Um, what I I like both.
- 51:51I like I love the taste of garlic.
- 51:53So putting it in soups and salads and dressings and you know, sautes, whatever you're making is great.
- 51:59Um, but the encapsulated um product that we use is super concentrated.
- 52:05So you're getting the amount of alicin in, I think each capsule's like, or each serving, it might be each serving, which I think is two capsules, um, is like the equivalent of like 20 cloves of garlic or something crazy like that.
- 52:19So that can be really helpful.
- 52:21And then also olive leaf immune.
- 52:26Olive oliopin is the active ingredient, excuse me, an olive leaf.
- 52:32Excellent for the immune system.
- 52:34Now, with a few minutes left, I want to talk about when you do have what I call immune stress.
- 52:40This is like something's activated.
- 52:42Um, there's a couple principles that can be really helpful.
- 52:45So, one, stop eating.
- 52:48Now, I'm not saying starve yourself, but too often the body's getting overwhelmed, right?
- 52:56If the body's getting overwhelmed, we don't want when the body's sick, we want it to devote most of its energy to healing as opposed to digesting food.
- 53:06So eat light, eat simple, eat healthy foods, drink tons of water.
- 53:12If you don't feel like eating, don't eat.
- 53:15Or, like I said, if you if you're like, I feel like I need something, but I don't want something big, make a smoothie or something really simple.
- 53:22Um, and then this is really huge.
- 53:24Work with the body.
- 53:26So, for example, it's been a very long time since I've been sick or had a fever, but if I get a fever, I'm going to probably take some capsicum, which is the active ingredient in hot peppers that make them hot, one of the acting active ingredients.
- 53:44So I'm gonna heat the body up internally.
- 53:46I might take a sweat bath, in other words, basically get the water as hot as you can stand and stay in it as long as you can stand.
- 53:54Um, I have been known to get in my sauna and burn that puppy up, right?
- 54:01Um, also uh I know you guys will love to know that I highly recommend doing garlic enemas if you have a fever.
- 54:10Um basically you make almost like a garlic tea.
- 54:14So you take a few cloves of garlic.
- 54:16If you've never done these before, I would start with like one or two cloves because they can be pretty strong, and pour a couple cups of hot water over it, let it sit till it's warm but not hot for obvious reasons.
- 54:28Strain out the chunks of garlic, and you'll have like some warm garlic juice basically, garlic water, garlic tea, however you want to think of it, and put that in your enema bag, do that, and most of the time that will break a fever right away.
- 54:44But the idea here is when you have a fever, it's like you don't want to stop it, you want to you want to get rid of it by getting it out.
- 54:51So help it come out.
- 54:52Okay, this let's say there's a pathogen in your body that's wreaking havoc and it can't survive over a hundred degrees.
- 54:58So let's crank this puppy up.
- 55:00Now, if you're if your fever is 106, I'm I'm like, I'm not saying you shouldn't go to the emergency room, but I'm like generally speaking for a low grade fever, um, that works really well.
- 55:11So the big thing is doing a lot of these things preventatively and then having things on hand, because so often when clients reach out, my my clients that have been with me for a while, I just I can tell them what to take and and things to do, and they already have this little arsenal in you know built into their life.
- 55:30So I'm like, do you have this?
- 55:31Yeah, got it.
- 55:32Do you have some silver?
- 55:33Yeah, I already have that.
- 55:34Okay, cool.
- 55:35Take this, do this, you know.
- 55:36Like if you have that stuff around, as opposed to waiting until you're sick, you feel horrible, you have to stumble into the health food store, you don't know what quality you're getting, you can't find what you want, you know, all that.
- 55:49So it is always an honor and privilege to be with you all.
- 55:54Thank you for your time.
- 55:55If you're sick, you don't have to stay sick.
- 55:58So please reach out if you need help.
- 56:01And remember, if you ignore your health, it will go away.
- 56:05Take good care, and I look forward to seeing you next time.
