- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to KFI AM six forty the Bill Handles
- 0:04Speaker 1: show on demand on the iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Apps and now Handle on the news.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Ladies and gentlemen, here's Bill Handle and good morning another Monday.
- 0:27Speaker 3: It is Monday, June twenty two, and I was saying
- 0:33Speaker 3: yesterday just the same. You know, are the years flying
- 0:38Speaker 3: past faster? It just seems like every time. Hello, it's
- 0:45Speaker 3: the first day of January and you blink and now
- 0:49Speaker 3: we're in the second half of the year. Yeah, And
- 0:54Speaker 3: it was I once heard a sermon by rabbi who said,
- 1:00Speaker 3: you look back and your lifespan is a blink, which
- 1:06Speaker 3: is true. It's true, so we have depends on how
- 1:11Speaker 3: long your lifespan is. Just got some news about Alan Greenspan,
- 1:15Speaker 3: which I'll talk about in a minute. In the meantime,
- 1:18Speaker 3: let me say hello, Amy is back.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Good morning, Good morning.
- 1:23Speaker 3: So how was your trip? I heard you for a
- 1:26Speaker 3: few minutes said during your five o'clock hour.
- 1:29Speaker 2: It was fantastic. We did four countries in nine days.
- 1:32Speaker 2: We only planned to do three, but we pulled put
- 1:35Speaker 2: in an extra country, which was what Spain. No, So
- 1:39Speaker 2: we stayed in Spain and then we stayed in France,
- 1:42Speaker 2: and then one day we took a ferry across the
- 1:45Speaker 2: street of Gibraltar and went to Tangier, Morocco. That was planned,
- 1:51Speaker 2: and then we ended up going to Gibraltar, which is
- 1:55Speaker 2: actually part of the UK, but it's like its own
- 1:58Speaker 2: little country and who knew, And apparently Spain wants it
- 2:02Speaker 2: back and they won't give it back, and so there's
- 2:04Speaker 2: some tension there. But so cool. So we went to
- 2:07Speaker 2: a little tiny country with forty thousand residents called Gibraltar.
- 2:12Speaker 3: How cool is that?
- 2:12Speaker 2: It was super cool?
- 2:13Speaker 3: And and in Spain did you stay mainly on the plane?
- 2:18Speaker 2: You know what? And it didn't rain?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Nope.
- 2:21Speaker 2: We stayed on the southern coast and went to like
- 2:24Speaker 2: different little towns along the coast, Marbea and Naherha and
- 2:28Speaker 2: just there's this one that we never figured out how
- 2:31Speaker 2: to pronounce Wwhendido or something. We called it fungus because
- 2:35Speaker 2: it was easier to say. But I mean, just beautiful,
- 2:37Speaker 2: old old towns and it was just so fun.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Did you notice, I don't know, did you do Madrid
- 2:43Speaker 3: by any chance?
- 2:44Speaker 2: No, we just flew through Madrid. We didn't go to
- 2:46Speaker 2: any of the big cities.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. About the smaller cities. But if
- 2:50Speaker 3: you look at the major cities, there are ham stores
- 2:54Speaker 3: on every corner like we do Starbucks. I mean just
- 2:59Speaker 3: ham and the.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Big legs of ham. They had them at the grocery store.
- 3:03Speaker 2: They're just out and then you go up and you go,
- 3:04Speaker 2: I'd like some ham, and they just slice some ham
- 3:06Speaker 2: off the leg of the lamb.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Yes, earlier. And then the older the ham, of course,
- 3:09Speaker 3: the more expensive it is because they actually aged the ham.
- 3:13Speaker 3: And there there is ham there that is so shrunken,
- 3:18Speaker 3: that has been aged for thirty forty years, and it
- 3:23Speaker 3: costs a fortune, and it's like ham jerky. I don't
- 3:28Speaker 3: know why anybody would eat it. And then you got
- 3:32Speaker 3: you were talking about France, yep, and how friendly the
- 3:36Speaker 3: French are. When I first started going to France, it
- 3:41Speaker 3: was one of those They were incredibly rude stories. They were.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I cannot tell you how many times I said to waiters,
- 3:49Speaker 3: if it weren't for us, you'd be wearing a little
- 3:51Speaker 3: bottle brush mustaches at all speaking German. And I also
- 3:57Speaker 3: would tell waiters, your mother was a collaborator during World
- 4:01Speaker 3: War two, weren't you or wasn't she? I didn't get
- 4:05Speaker 3: along with the Parisians. But you're right, they have become
- 4:10Speaker 3: very very friendly because I think they got it that
- 4:14Speaker 3: be nice to tourists because it's a lot of money
- 4:16Speaker 3: coming in. Oh yeah, and it's free money. You don't
- 4:20Speaker 3: have to build infrastructure for that. You don't have to
- 4:23Speaker 3: build factories to sell more goods. They just come out.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Did you go up on the Eiffel Oh you didn't
- 4:31Speaker 3: do Paris?
- 4:32Speaker 2: See no, we did do Paris, and we went to
- 4:36Speaker 2: the Eiffel Tower, but we didn't go up because you
- 4:39Speaker 2: had said so many times, and plus to even get
- 4:42Speaker 2: into the vicinity of the Eiffel Tower you have to
- 4:44Speaker 2: pay Oh yeah, huge. I didn't know that. I thought
- 4:47Speaker 2: you could take watch up and touch it. You can't.
- 4:49Speaker 3: No big money to get in, and then up it's
- 4:52Speaker 3: another thirty thirty five dollars. And then going up after
- 4:56Speaker 3: that to the higher reaches there's another thirty five dollars.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And it was ninety degrees the day that we are
- 5:02Speaker 2: crazy anyway, there's no way we're going up.
- 5:05Speaker 3: And one of the things that and I had mentioned
- 5:07Speaker 3: this to Amie and I think she paid attention. One
- 5:09Speaker 3: of the things about Paris is you like to see
- 5:13Speaker 3: the Eiffel Tower as part of your view, and you
- 5:17Speaker 3: can't when you're there.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So that's true.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yeah, so you're going up in rickety elevators. Okay, and
- 5:27Speaker 3: then hello and good morning, good morning, and Cono, good morning, Bill,
- 5:34Speaker 3: good morning. Will is not with us this morning. Yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 3: I didn't know that you can do breakfast at all.
- 5:44Speaker 3: You can eat buffet restaurants, but I get you. I
- 5:47Speaker 3: guess you can. So Will is coming back with another
- 5:52Speaker 3: five pounds added to his frame. When is Will coming back?
- 5:55Speaker 2: He's off all week?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Okay, and Cono.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Good morning, good morning again, thank you.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I just wanted to replace that because I completely
- 6:04Speaker 3: forgot I talked to you. That's how far up the
- 6:06Speaker 3: food chain I perceive you to be. And Neil is gone,
- 6:11Speaker 3: and he may be gone for a couple of days,
- 6:13Speaker 3: a little bit under the weather. All right, so much
- 6:16Speaker 3: for that. Let's do it, guys. It is time for
- 6:20Speaker 3: a handle on the news with Amy who is back,
- 6:24Speaker 3: Neil who is not? And me lead story. This just
- 6:31Speaker 3: came in Alan Greenspan, head of the Federal Reserve for
- 6:37Speaker 3: five terms. There had never been a FED chair who
- 6:43Speaker 3: had been head of the FEDS for that long. For
- 6:47Speaker 3: presidents and he died. We just got the news that
- 6:50Speaker 3: he died this morning. He was one hundred years old.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Good for him, man, that's a life well lived. That's
- 6:59Speaker 3: what I didn't What I didn't know is he attended
- 7:03Speaker 3: Juilliard and he played jazz, saxophone and clarinet in a band.
- 7:08Speaker 3: How cool is that?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Okay, no big surprise. LA Unified School Superintendent Alberto Caravallo,
- 7:19Speaker 2: who's been under FBI investigation for four months now, has
- 7:23Speaker 2: resigned as the leader of the nation's second largest school system.
- 7:28Speaker 2: His legal term team confirmed that he sent a resignation
- 7:32Speaker 2: letter out to the district and members of the Board
- 7:35Speaker 2: of Education. He said, it's been a great honor to
- 7:38Speaker 2: serve you, the student's family's, teachers, staff, and community of LAUSD.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Yeah. He was saying that to reporters as he was
- 7:47Speaker 3: being dragged off from his house in handcuffs. Now, he
- 7:50Speaker 3: got pretty good marks for what he did with the
- 7:55Speaker 3: school system. And we don't know what the investigation is
- 7:59Speaker 3: about out but the FBI did raid his home and
- 8:02Speaker 3: his office and someone else I think in Florida where
- 8:07Speaker 3: someone has been arrested who was tied up. Not with
- 8:10Speaker 3: him personally. He's not being accused of any personal wrongdoing,
- 8:14Speaker 3: but the big one was this company that he did
- 8:18Speaker 3: choose that went bankrupt and there seems to be some
- 8:22Speaker 3: scandal there. So he's done. You know, it's a four
- 8:26Speaker 3: month investigation by the FEDS. Go ahead.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I was going to say, Carvallo is not the only
- 8:34Speaker 2: one who's out. Keir Starmer gone Prime minister, stepped down
- 8:39Speaker 2: as the leader of the governing Labor Party in the UK.
- 8:43Speaker 2: He just announced his resignation today, bowing to a mutiny
- 8:47Speaker 2: inside his partner party and the threat of a direct
- 8:50Speaker 2: challenge to his leadership of the country.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Hugely unpopular. I have my god daughter is a brit
- 8:59Speaker 3: who lives in the United States, so she's actually an
- 9:01Speaker 3: American citizen also, and she was telling me how how
- 9:07Speaker 3: much Starmar was hated, still hated. But he stepped down
- 9:12Speaker 3: because he's no longer, no longer effective as leader of
- 9:15Speaker 3: the party.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Interesting because he was elected, as they say, in a landslide.
- 9:19Speaker 2: He won with a large margin in twenty twenty four.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Yeah, except the last political period he lost or his
- 9:27Speaker 3: party lost in a landslide. What's interesting about prime ministers
- 9:31Speaker 3: the way parliaments select prime ministers. Prime ministers are not
- 9:35Speaker 3: elected directly by the people. They're elected by the party.
- 9:40Speaker 3: It's like the Democratic Party Congress people electing a president
- 9:46Speaker 3: as opposed to direct elections. Interesting system, to say the least. Okay,
- 9:50Speaker 3: it is a Monday morning at June twenty four, and
- 9:55Speaker 3: I have no idea what today is. I'm sorry, twenty
- 9:59Speaker 3: twenty two exactly, so I got it a couple of
- 10:02Speaker 3: days off, and I have no idea what June twenty
- 10:04Speaker 3: two is, what National Day it is? Because every day
- 10:07Speaker 3: is a nassing day, National Kissing Day, that's great. Also okay, yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 3: and National mononucleie Mononucleosis Day, which kind of interesting combination.
- 10:19Speaker 3: And HVAC Day. Yeah, oh god, Heating and air conditioners
- 10:25Speaker 3: we need him. Yeah, yeah, it's Heating and air Conditioner Day.
- 10:28Speaker 3: That's great. Why not? And also ice Cube Day. I
- 10:35Speaker 3: see they coincide. This is what they try to do,
- 10:39Speaker 3: get both sides of the coin because we're so polarized politically. Okay,
- 10:43Speaker 3: back we go, more handle on the news, Amy and me.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Well, the pretty refurbished reflecting pool has some big problems.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Resident Trump has poured out his frustration over the problems
- 10:58Speaker 2: plaguing the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool that has just undergone
- 11:03Speaker 2: nearly fifteen million dollars in renovations. He says five people
- 11:07Speaker 2: have been arrested because they've vandalized it, and he also
- 11:11Speaker 2: said that the pool might need to be drained for repairs.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Yeah, there is a whole story here. This has become
- 11:20Speaker 3: a massive national story, and I am going to talk
- 11:25Speaker 3: about that at seven twenty. It is so interesting and
- 11:30Speaker 3: I'm going to share that with you. It's a lot
- 11:32Speaker 3: of typical Donald Trump stuff and the changes that have
- 11:36Speaker 3: gone on with the pool. It's you should listen to
- 11:39Speaker 3: it because there's a lot to it. And frankly, it
- 11:43Speaker 3: is very funny stuff. If it weren't so ludicrous. Oh
- 11:47Speaker 3: maybe it's funny because it's ludicrous. Anyway, seven twenty this morning.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Still burning. Kevinor Newsam has declared a state of an
- 11:55Speaker 2: emergency because that fire burning in Boil Heights is still burning.
- 12:00Speaker 2: It's one of the first things we saw when we
- 12:01Speaker 2: got back to town on Friday night. Our driver was like, look,
- 12:04Speaker 2: there's a big fire in boil Heights and it's been
- 12:06Speaker 2: burning all weekend at the Lineage Logistics warehouse five hundred
- 12:11Speaker 2: thousand square feet. That's like the size of ten costcos
- 12:16Speaker 2: I think is what they were saying.
- 12:18Speaker 3: But it's and it's a cold storage place, and it
- 12:21Speaker 3: was on fire and the whole place was burning up,
- 12:25Speaker 3: and I think everybody in southern California saw it. On
- 12:27Speaker 3: my way to the Lawyer's Philharmonic from Orange County, man
- 12:32Speaker 3: coming up the five, I saw this thing. And I
- 12:34Speaker 3: even turned to my friend who came with me, and
- 12:37Speaker 3: I said, wow, is that is that a storm cell
- 12:41Speaker 3: coming in? Because it looked like clouds, this gray cloud.
- 12:44Speaker 3: It was huge.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah. In my neighborhood over the weekend, they had the
- 12:50Speaker 2: water dropping helicopters coming in and scooping water out of
- 12:54Speaker 2: Silver Lake. It was very cool. They were doing it
- 12:56Speaker 2: like all afternoon because apparently they were having trouble getting
- 12:59Speaker 2: to it from the ground, so they were using water
- 13:01Speaker 2: dropping helicopters.
- 13:03Speaker 3: You know, when it's really hot and there's a fire.
- 13:06Speaker 3: You ever been under one of those? No, Yeah, you
- 13:09Speaker 3: wouldn't want to, Okay, I never have either, But it's
- 13:12Speaker 3: probably a lot of water coming down on your head.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Where's the beef? Apparently still on the shelf because it's
- 13:21Speaker 2: too expensive to buy for a lot of Americans, Surging
- 13:25Speaker 2: prices mean that beef is no longer what's for dinner. Okay,
- 13:30Speaker 2: The cost of beef has been spiking since early twenty
- 13:33Speaker 2: twenty five, and now there's more pressure because of the
- 13:36Speaker 2: screw worm outbreak that hit cattle in Mexico and has
- 13:40Speaker 2: spread to the US. The cattle herd in the US
- 13:44Speaker 2: has already fallen to levels not seen since the nineteen fifties.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Yeah, is the administration I'm going to get blamed for this?
- 13:52Speaker 3: I think so, even though the screw room screw worm
- 13:58Speaker 3: issue is not the fault. I mean this, you know,
- 14:03Speaker 3: literally it comes up and I don't know what it does.
- 14:05Speaker 3: I know that it is really gross, is it?
- 14:09Speaker 2: It's really gross. It doesn't go to humans, but what
- 14:12Speaker 2: it infects the cattle, especially young, vulnerable sick ones, and
- 14:16Speaker 2: the little screwworm gets in and like starts eating the
- 14:20Speaker 2: flesh and open source. It's just the description is not pretty.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Have you know if you've been shopping for meat, it's
- 14:27Speaker 3: ridiculous the cost of meat, how it's gone up. I
- 14:31Speaker 3: mean truly, if you go to a restaurant and order
- 14:33Speaker 3: any meat dish, that is even more ridiculous. And so
- 14:38Speaker 3: inflation is no matter what the administration is saying inflation
- 14:43Speaker 3: is here in a big way, and that is what
- 14:47Speaker 3: people vote when now we're talking about the midterms, people
- 14:50Speaker 3: vote with their wallets. That is the number one issue.
- 14:54Speaker 3: And that's how one of the main reasons that Trump
- 14:57Speaker 3: was elected because he perceptively realized far more than inflation
- 15:03Speaker 3: was over nine percent during the Biden administration. Even though
- 15:06Speaker 3: presidents have relatively little to do with inflation. There are
- 15:10Speaker 3: a lot of other factors out there, and it's but
- 15:14Speaker 3: they take the but they take the blame for it.
- 15:19Speaker 3: They also take the credit when anything is good, but
- 15:22Speaker 3: they certainly take the brain the blame.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Okay, this is a sad story and it was a
- 15:27Speaker 2: long way down for a guy who went to a
- 15:29Speaker 2: concert at Madison Square Garden. He fell during a concert.
- 15:34Speaker 2: The guy was fifty one years old from Connecticut. He
- 15:37Speaker 2: died after he fell from an upper level balcony inside
- 15:42Speaker 2: MSG during a Goose concert.
- 15:46Speaker 3: How you I'm sorry, Go ahead.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I was just going to say. He was with his
- 15:49Speaker 2: wife at the concert when he fell.
- 15:51Speaker 3: How do you fall without going over the railing? I
- 15:57Speaker 3: would think it's not easy to do.
- 15:59Speaker 2: But some of the railings at some of the venues
- 16:01Speaker 2: that I've been to I don't know that I've been
- 16:02Speaker 2: to Madison Square Garden. That railings are rather low and
- 16:07Speaker 2: they're steep up top, so who knows, or maybe they're
- 16:11Speaker 2: leaning over and cheering and yelling and.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Just yeah, and we don't know about alcohol consumption and
- 16:18Speaker 3: that could be you know. That's again on not making
- 16:20Speaker 3: any accusation, but I would think that would be one
- 16:24Speaker 3: of the few reasons we're being thrown over which there's
- 16:27Speaker 3: no indication of foul play.
- 16:29Speaker 2: President Biden's efforts to keep things quiet are a bust.
- 16:34Speaker 2: A federal judge has ruled that hours of audio recordings
- 16:38Speaker 2: tied to his twenty seventeen memoir can be turned over
- 16:43Speaker 2: to the Heritage Foundation. Of course, the Trump and his
- 16:47Speaker 2: lawyer or not Trump. Biden and his lawyers have been
- 16:49Speaker 2: trying to block the disclosure, but in a ruling, the
- 16:53Speaker 2: district judge said that Biden's privacy interests, while real, are
- 16:58Speaker 2: outweighed by the public's interest in the materials and the
- 17:01Speaker 2: government's obligation under the Freedom of Information Act to promote transparency.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Now think about this for a moment. So you're talking
- 17:10Speaker 3: to a reporter or an author reference to a memoir
- 17:18Speaker 3: and you would think that would be private, wouldn't you?
- 17:21Speaker 3: And all of a sudden, there is a Freedom of
- 17:23Speaker 3: Information Act saying we want those files. How do they
- 17:27Speaker 3: get away with that with a private conversation. Well, they're
- 17:30Speaker 3: arguing that there was criminality and proven by the conversation
- 17:38Speaker 3: that Biden has Although you would think there would be
- 17:41Speaker 3: the authorities that would make that request as opposed to
- 17:46Speaker 3: the Heritage Foundation.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Oh, because they were talking about that, how allegations that
- 17:51Speaker 2: Biden mishandled classic.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Wouldn't you think it would be the administration going after
- 17:57Speaker 3: this is Biden? So I'm a little confused, or if
- 18:02Speaker 3: not confused, just I'm curious.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Smoother sailing through TSA at LAX maybe a security checkpoint.
- 18:15Speaker 2: They're getting some renovations, so they're spending seven hundred and
- 18:19Speaker 2: eighty one million dollars to upgrade the scanners and instead
- 18:23Speaker 2: of having flat X ray scanners, they're going to have
- 18:26Speaker 2: three D scanners so they can twist it and zoom
- 18:29Speaker 2: it and turn it and see all around in the bag,
- 18:31Speaker 2: which will hopefully eliminate the need to take out laptops
- 18:35Speaker 2: and tablets and also even like the approved liquids because
- 18:38Speaker 2: they'll be able to see from all angles.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Yeah, and then the carry on sizes are going to
- 18:43Speaker 3: be more strictly enforced because they don't enforce carry on
- 18:47Speaker 3: size now.
- 18:47Speaker 2: People were literally carrying full sized bags onto a plane
- 18:51Speaker 2: when we were welling.
- 18:52Speaker 3: It's crazy some reason they get. Yeah, well, with this,
- 18:55Speaker 3: you got to be a little careful about bringing your
- 18:58Speaker 3: vibrators on to the onto the airplane in your carry
- 19:03Speaker 3: on because they're going to be really able to see
- 19:05Speaker 3: very clearly. Even the brand name O Doc Johnson. Okay,
- 19:13Speaker 3: one more, all right.
- 19:15Speaker 2: You think it's hot here, yikes? Okay, And it was
- 19:18Speaker 2: hot when I was in Paris. It was like ninety
- 19:21Speaker 2: degrees and that was excruciating in Paris because a lot
- 19:25Speaker 2: of places don't have air conditioning. Well, the temperatures are
- 19:29Speaker 2: soaring again. Trains, concerts and sporting events are being canceled.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Authorities are even restricting consumption of alcohol in public, which
- 19:39Speaker 2: is a crime in and of itself, not to be
- 19:41Speaker 2: able to sit down and have a glass of wine
- 19:42Speaker 2: at a restaurant in Paris. But the heat wave is
- 19:46Speaker 2: extending over many parts of Europe, and today they're saying
- 19:51Speaker 2: it could be one hundred and four in Paris.
- 19:55Speaker 3: That's a lot with no air conditioning.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I mean some of the shops that we went into
- 19:59Speaker 2: they did, and even like the museums. We went to
- 20:02Speaker 2: Musidorse and it was cooler because they've got all the
- 20:05Speaker 2: artwork in there, but there were places that were uncomfortably warm,
- 20:09Speaker 2: and it wasn't nearly as hot as it is now.
- 20:11Speaker 3: You are going to see air conditioning now becoming part
- 20:14Speaker 3: of Europe because it's just going to get hotter and hotter,
- 20:18Speaker 3: and hot summers are going to be longer and longer.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Amy, Oh, did you say there's an I thought you
- 20:27Speaker 2: said that was the last one. I did not, Okay.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Trump is deepening the dust up with Italy's Maloney, who
- 20:37Speaker 2: says his unprovoked attacks are just senseless. He lashed out
- 20:42Speaker 2: at the Prime Minister, insisting that she asked over and
- 20:45Speaker 2: over to get a picture with him at the Group
- 20:48Speaker 2: of Seven summit and criticize what he said was Italy's
- 20:51Speaker 2: lack of cooperation during the Iran War, and that's making
- 20:56Speaker 2: things just, you know, a little heated between the two
- 20:58Speaker 2: because she says that did happen at all.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Yeah, in the United States and the rest of Europe
- 21:05Speaker 3: are not doing very well. Right now. One of the
- 21:08Speaker 3: big reasons exactly that, as you pointed out, is that
- 21:12Speaker 3: when the Straight of Horror Moves was closed, the President
- 21:15Speaker 3: asked Europe, asked NATO, help me open it up, and
- 21:19Speaker 3: we'll all go in and attack Iran and that should
- 21:22Speaker 3: do it. And everybody said no, thank you, not a chance,
- 21:29Speaker 3: although they did find Maloney trying to take a selfie
- 21:31Speaker 3: with the President and he refused to do it.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Another close call, this one came at Boston Logan International Airport.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Pilots of a Delta Airlines flight had to abort their
- 21:45Speaker 2: approach for landing at about eleven thirty on Saturday morning,
- 21:49Speaker 2: as an American Airlines flight was accelerating for takeoff on
- 21:54Speaker 2: an intersecting runway. The Delta pilots that was the one
- 21:58Speaker 2: that was getting ready to land performed an evasive go
- 22:00Speaker 2: around maneuver before the Airbus A three nineteen landed safely.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Passengers were able to get off normally. No one was hurt.
- 22:08Speaker 2: The two aircraft came within several hundred feet of each other.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Ooh, that's close. We've gotten so many of these close
- 22:15Speaker 3: calls over the last couple of months, and I don't know,
- 22:20Speaker 3: is it simply, Amy, you tell me whether it's simply
- 22:23Speaker 3: they're reporting them more or they really have increased, And
- 22:27Speaker 3: if they have increased statistically, I mean way up. It's
- 22:31Speaker 3: just a question of time. It's just a question of
- 22:35Speaker 3: time before there is a collision and hundreds of people
- 22:38Speaker 3: are going to die. Also, we've gotten some private planes
- 22:43Speaker 3: that went down three or four over this last week
- 22:46Speaker 3: where a bunch of people have died. So Amy, back
- 22:49Speaker 3: to the first question, is it just more reporting or
- 22:52Speaker 3: is the number in your opinion up?
- 22:54Speaker 2: I don't know, because sometimes you hear about things more
- 22:58Speaker 2: because somebody catches when in the oh that's interesting, and
- 23:01Speaker 2: so it hits the news cycle more. So I'd have
- 23:03Speaker 2: to kind of do some research to.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Sell well, well, thank you, no, thank you, that helped
- 23:06Speaker 3: a lot. I don't know.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Well, I'm going to give you an answer. I'm a
- 23:11Speaker 2: news person.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I do, right, Yeah, I do. I'd rather have you
- 23:14Speaker 3: know what the hell you're talking about like I do,
- 23:16Speaker 3: and pretend that you know what you're hell you're talking
- 23:18Speaker 3: about like I do. Sounds better, you know, it sounds
- 23:23Speaker 3: like you know, we really bring all of the news
- 23:25Speaker 3: and good analysis to the table.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Okay, Another Trump backed candidate wins, but this one's in
- 23:33Speaker 2: another country. The far right, millionaire lawyer and self styled outsider,
- 23:38Speaker 2: Abolardo di la Espreela has one Columbia's presidential runoff election.
- 23:44Speaker 2: He was supported by Trump. Out of more than twenty
- 23:47Speaker 2: five million votes, he won by a margin of two
- 23:51Speaker 2: hundred and forty nine nine hundred one votes.
- 23:55Speaker 3: I do not remember whenever there was a US president
- 23:59Speaker 3: that got involved with and had this much influence in
- 24:04Speaker 3: foreign elections. And much like what's happening in the country,
- 24:10Speaker 3: a lot of these governments that are swinging right wing,
- 24:15Speaker 3: I think have a lot to do with the influence
- 24:17Speaker 3: that the president has. Bolsonaro, for example, when he was
- 24:20Speaker 3: president in Brazil, he called himself South America is Trump.
- 24:26Speaker 3: I mean, you would not see that normally, but for
- 24:29Speaker 3: the influence of this president.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Two time yeah toy story fives not only won the weekend,
- 24:37Speaker 2: it's winning the year so far. Would he buzz In
- 24:40Speaker 2: the Gang grossed a massive one hundred and sixty million
- 24:45Speaker 2: dollars at the box office in the US alone this weekend.
- 24:49Speaker 2: That's the largest three day debut at the domestics box
- 24:52Speaker 2: office in twenty twenty six so far, and it's the
- 24:54Speaker 2: second largest domestic opening weekend for any animated movie ever,
- 24:59Speaker 2: and it's also Toy Story's largest opening weekend.
- 25:03Speaker 3: And what a franchise. I mean, they can't stop making money.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I only saw the first one. I haven't seen two, three,
- 25:11Speaker 3: or four. But the first one I thought was just terrific, clever,
- 25:16Speaker 3: well done, really enjoyed it.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Well, apparently this one's terrific too.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Yeah, all of them could. It's not like a Godfather,
- 25:26Speaker 3: where one of the films was just an utter piece
- 25:28Speaker 3: of crap. They all seem to be pretty good.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Maha means changes to Eminem's getting rid of the blue
- 25:37Speaker 2: and the brown. Eminem's the iconic brand is introducing a
- 25:41Speaker 2: new version of candies made without artificial dyes, embracing the
- 25:47Speaker 2: Make America Healthy Again movement that starts in August, and
- 25:51Speaker 2: it also marks Eminem's eighty fifth anniversary. As I mentioned,
- 25:55Speaker 2: the brown and blue Eminem's will not be there. Mars
- 25:58Speaker 2: was talking about and said the colors couldn't be recreated
- 26:01Speaker 2: with natural ingredients at a reasonable cost.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Yeah, blue is manufactured because relying on spiralina, an algae
- 26:15Speaker 3: based pigment, and the algae stores are running out because
- 26:20Speaker 3: of the news, and I don't know this is true,
- 26:24Speaker 3: whether it's a hoax not. And that is I read
- 26:27Speaker 3: and I think it was on Instagram that in many
- 26:31Speaker 3: cases around the country, maggot people are putting there making
- 26:35Speaker 3: their pools green in support of the president. I don't
- 26:40Speaker 3: know if that's true or not, but it would be
- 26:42Speaker 3: fantastic if that were true, or.
- 26:44Speaker 2: The newsperson I'm going to say, no, that one is
- 26:47Speaker 2: not true.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Well, yeah, and I don't know. I don't know because
- 26:51Speaker 3: there's there are so many hoaxes that go on. You
- 26:55Speaker 3: just don't know what's true or not. But the stories
- 26:58Speaker 3: are just insane today when you find out, oh, come on,
- 27:01Speaker 3: it can't be true, and it is. But Algae is
- 27:06Speaker 3: in short supply, I'll tell you that, and that tells
- 27:09Speaker 3: you something. Okay, we are done, guys. Finny all right,
- 27:14Speaker 3: coming up, Carvallo, the former superintendent of la USD has resigned,
- 27:21Speaker 3: and this one gets kind of interesting. I'll share that
- 27:24Speaker 3: with you when we come back. KFI AM sixty.
