At 104, World War II veteran Edwin F. Hammond is still swimming, lifting weights, and celebrating life—with his whole family gathered around for his Fourth of July milestone. He left school to serve, returned to finish his education, met his wife Lorraine on a school ride, and built the home they still live in together. Now with 19 grandchildren and a new great-grandbaby on the way, he keeps Lorraine’s memory alive by talking to her daily and honoring her ashes in his living room.
