- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Good morning, everybody.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: How you doing this morning?
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Uh let me just get it out of the way at the front here.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: If I look kind of rough, uh it's because I've been fighting this silly cold slash cough, whatever, for weeks and it's affecting my sleep and everything.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: But whatever.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Done.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Said it.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Let's get it out of the way.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Be do have.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Be do have.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: The order in which you live those three things affects your life in many, many, many, many different ways.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Um I've been telling you for the last few weeks that my wife and I, Colleen, um, just felt like, you know, kind of the same cold.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Uh laid me down for a few days at the beginning of the year, and it was good because it created an opportunity to just kind of listen.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: And I feel like in the process, God helped me connect to that three-word combination in a really powerful way.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Proverbs 423 says, Guard your heart, for from it flow the issues of life.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Guard your heart.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: And for me, your heart is your spirit person.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's the deepest part of yourself.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: I would probably even say that it's uh the the subconscious part of your soul slash mind.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: My point being that it's it's where your it's really where your identity is stored.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Your your sense of who you are, how life should treat you, what you deserve, what you don't deserve, what you have to do to get your needs met, all those kind of things are programmed, if you will, in the deepest part of you.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: So when the Bible says, guard your heart, for from it flow the issues of life, it's really uh a very sound psychological description of uh of how life works and how we work.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: One of the things I said a few weeks back was um, you know, that familiar phrase, um, don't just don't just sit there, do something.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: And um I felt like God kind of used this in my life.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Don't just do something, sit there.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And that's part of what took me to those three words, be, do, and have.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: I would say that most of us live life in this order.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: We do, then we have, and then we be.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: And here's what I mean by that.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: We do things, we work, we we we pose and posture ourselves, we we relate to people in certain ways, we we we violate kind of our own essence, the the the our own selfhood, if you will, to please people and get the reaction out of them we want.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: So I do, therefore I have, and then I am uh popular, respected, accepted by others, loved, whatever.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: And I just kind of did it right there, and that's kind of one of the key things I want to say today.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Be do have under the B column.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: The key is this you want to look for sentences stored in your deepest soul, in your heart, that start with two words.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I am.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: There's a post before this one where I I led you to a sermon by Joel Osteen, and you know, whatever you think of Joel, it's a great sermon.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: And uh, you know, whatever, I think he's a good guy doing his assignment.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Um, but there's also a uh PDF of the sermon, and uh just really good stuff.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I think you'd enjoy it.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: So B do have the B column.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: They start with phrases like, I am.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: I've been telling you for a couple of weeks that what God helped me um uncover, um, become aware of, is that the thing about your heart and your your beliefs is that they tend to be subconscious, they tend to be outside of your everyday awareness.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: But they start with I am, and what I ran into that God kind of exposed to help me is the statement, I am a disappointment.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: So part of what I'm trying to say to you today is um deep in your heart is where your identity is stored, your value, your self-worth, and what you feel like you need to do to get that.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: And um again, what I want to say to you is as you, you know, we're into the year already, but but if you have to reboot the year, but here's what I'm saying: don't just do something.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Don't start with I do, therefore I have, and now I am some stuff.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Start with I am.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Start your your life is shaped, lived out, and driven by your sense of identity, your sense of value and self-worth, and how you get it.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And what I'm saying to you this morning is you've got to slow down and listen beyond or below the noise of life, your soul, all the stuff banging around in there.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: And uh, and what you want to find are these I am statements.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: I am uh, you know, I play with words whenever I'm gonna speak, and uh I looked it up and it and it means this to exist in a state or condition.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: To exist in a state or condition.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: So I am blank, what you're stating is uh the state or condition in which you live.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Now here's the problem.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: If we change the order, if we go get away from I am, I do, I have, then what happens is, and it could even be I am, I have, I do, quite honestly, and that I could explain that.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: But um if we get to I do, I have, I am, then what we have is an identity, self-worth, and value that are rooted in performance, they're rooted in um external factors, people's opinion of us, how life's going, what group we fit in with, and all that.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And here's the thing whoever kind of sets the tone for the I am, sets the tone for your identity and self-worth, my identity and self-worth, uh, that person is uh kind of like our God.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: And I like to say this whoever's words define you is your God.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Or you could say it this way: whoever's expectations drive you is your God.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Whoever's standards you live your life trying to live up to, to meet, is your God.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: So what I'm trying to say to you is this if you could slow down and let allow the Holy Spirit to show you what are those I am statements that you live out of.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: I've shared with that that one of mine was I am a disappointment.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: And the truth of the matter is, of course, I can disappoint people at times, but there's a difference between doing something that disappoints and being a disappointment.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: I do things or not do things that in the end result disappoints people, but that doesn't make me a disappointment.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: So what we're gonna talk about as we go forward is what do you do as you begin to find these I am statements that are self-destructive, that are not representative of your true self.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Um, and we're gonna get into that next week.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Love you guys.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Appreciate so much you hanging in there with me.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: All right, later.
